Of course Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider will join the
show as well, so a.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Lot to do.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
And then last we have a trash talking Tuesday will
be next hour as well. So get those calls ready
as we get ready to start this show. But as
we mentioned, Carrie, it's cut Day, so I want to
I want to start with the big headline. But what
I would like to do maybe is towards the end
of the segment, or maybe if we got to start

(04:09):
the next segment, I want to just get your story
of cut Day. What it's like the experience for uh,
for guys who.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Come in and peep peep, peep peep.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
That key card don't work no more. That key card
ain't letting them in the building anymore, Carrie. So so
I want to get to that in a little bit.
But I do want to start with what everyone he
was waiting to see and what my co host shout
out to Rob Parker. Rob is on vacation, folks. He's
enjoying a little a little meat time, which well deserved.
But he was guaranteeing or at least he really thought

(04:40):
that Scheduel was going to be cut, and I insisted
that he shouldn't. Obviously none of us know, but I,
why why would I cut this guy? To me, there
were other moves that I I Why am I trading
for Kenny Pickett? Why am I going back to get
Joe FLACKO? Okay, fine, you do those moves? Why do
I draft Dylan Gabriel? Fine, you want it? Why do

(05:01):
I then draft Shadure? They would just move after move
that you kind of go, okay, where are we going
with this?

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Mind?

Speaker 4 (05:06):
You?

Speaker 1 (05:06):
You still have should Deshaun Watson technically on the roster
as well, even though he's dealing with that Achilles injury.
So I didn't think he should be cut. But obviously
there were things to be left determined. And now we
know Shadure is on the team. Shaudure is gonna be
QB number three, and I don't believe he will be

(05:27):
QB number three for long, Carrie, I don't believe that.
A couple of reasons why number one. I just think
it's gonna be inevitable. Just sometimes in life we get
these fun moments in sports. Now, it's not fun for
Kenny Picking with injuries. Nobody wants to be injured. But
if he were to make it and Schadure were to
get cut, where would the storylines be? Because aside from

(05:50):
the Cowboys, we are talking the number two team.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
We're talking about it too, the Cleveland Browns, and.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
The Browns are gonna keep on being a gift that gives.
So I look at it this point, Canny Pick, it's gone.
They have a forty year old starter in Joe Flacco
who has had a good career, but as at the
end of his career.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
I mentioned this yesterday.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Stat Wise, there'd only been fifteen quarterbacks carry who have
played and started more than ten games in their forties
throughout the history of the league. And of those fifteen,
only about four were really successful and worth and notable. Okay,
so you got Brett Farrer, which has started off pretty
good then eventually into bad. We have currently Aaron Rodgers,

(06:29):
We had Drew Brees, and we had the goat of
it all, Tom Brady. So Joe Flacco ain't Tom Brady,
is not Brett Farr, and he ain't Aaron Rodgers, so
I'm not and Drew Brees either.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Okay, those guys are all Hall of famers.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
I don't expect him to be upright long enough, and
I'm not wishing help, but you know this, I don't
expect him to start long enough from the bat, how
bad that offensive line is. I don't expect him from
even necessarily having success. I'll tell you why as well.
When you look at the numbers of what the Cleveland
Browns were, they were when you're looking at yards per game,

(07:07):
they were nineteenth. They were twenty fifth when you're talking
about defensive ratings, so they got they have to the other.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Teams are gonna score, so they're gonna have to score.
They can't.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
They were twenty seventh and points allowed you're looking at
the passing, they were in the middle of the pack
as well. So when I look at this offense, it's
not gonna be great. They're twenty eighth in y total
yards per game. Let me let me back that up.
They were thirty second in the NFL points per game
thirty second at fifteen point two points per game.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
That ain't gonna cut it.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Carry if that was my starting point guard in the NBA,
cool fifteen points, Maybe give me eight assists, we'll be
a right. That is not a whole team in sixty
minutes of NFL football. And so when you look at
their defense, they were twenty seven the points allowed per
game at twenty five point six at eighteen and yards
allowed per game. So my point is they're gonna be
in some blowouts. They're gonna be in bad situations, and

(07:57):
I expect the bumping. Dylan Gabriel gets bumped up, the star,
Shador gets bumped up the backup, and by midway or
two thirds of the season, I'm not shocked that Shador
is gonna be starting, but I think this is good
for him. Get his feet wet, get acclimated in the NFL, learn,
continue to learn both on the field, off the field,
and podium, because all of that matters when you're a starter.

(08:18):
And I'm happy for him that he made this team.
And now just like when a I'm a fifth round pick,
carry you made a team, do what you got to
do to make the team.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Now you've done that.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Now you do what you got to do to stay
on the team, to become a backup and then eventually
a starter. But I didn't think he was going anywhere,
and maybe his fate the way it worked out with
Kenny pick and all that, But here we are, Chador
is gonna be here and this is gonna be a
storyline that keeps on giving.

Speaker 5 (08:41):
Yeah, I didn't think he was going anywhere either. And
even if he was not gonna be on the Cleveland Browns,
he was going to be on the team, right, So
I wasn't worried about that part of it. He was
going to be an NFL player, So I think Dak
case was kind of already closed for me, the fact
that he's in Cleveland. Still, I thought he'd be there
as well, especially and like you said it, fate kind
of spoke up and kind of led the way here.

(09:04):
With Aidan O'Connell getting hurt with the Raiders, we knew
that a quarterback had to go to that situation, and
I said it on my show on Sunday. I was like,
Kenny Pickett is the best player to go to Oakland
in that situation, And that's what I mean, it's a
Vegas and that's what happened, right, So that kind of
take that kind of took place. But again, you said
something really good. As far as he's on the team now,

(09:27):
he's done everything he had to do to make the cut.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
He's there.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
He is a part of the Cleveland Browns. When football
gets to going, injuries happen, things happen, teams play better,
teams play worse than their expectations, and you have guys
that are looming, right like the second third string guy,
the guy that just plays special teams. He's not just
trying to play special teams. He's trying to be a
starter at some point, right, And you kind of get

(09:51):
that rude awakening of No, these guys aren't content with
being where they are. And that's every guy in the NFL. Man,
I'm telling you, every guy in that locker room thinks
they should be playing and should be starting. And so
keep that same energy. But also you said something else.
There is etiquette as well, and he's shown a great
etiquette as far he said he's shown great etiquette so
far right now of how he's handled things and handled

(10:13):
his position. But in the season when the live bullets
get going, and you know, people start pointing fingers and
those reports come out what you just said, if they're
having the slow season and Flacco is you know, just
kind of playing okay. You know people are gonna wonder
who's that next guy, and so now it's time to
compete and get better. Dylan's number two right now on
the depth chart, but I promise you it's really close,

(10:36):
right so that can change at any time, and so
for him, just get ready to play. Do your think
the Browns meaning you, we have a different trajectory with them.
I think they can be better than than what you're saying.
I know you're going based off of last year, but well,
but we'll see. It's it's gonna be exciting. I'm just
glad that the preseason is done and we can put
that to bed.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Right Well, I don't expect him to be quite as
bad because number one, Deshaun Watson ain't playing and I
don't know what brou I don't know where he lost.
And I mean this, I think part of the Deshaun
Watson demise.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
Was mental.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
I don't think he was in a great situation like
it wasn't like he was running around with this most
explosive offense.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
You know, he wasn't.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
He wasn't in an offensive line like the Eagles and
throwing to those receivers and having a running back like
sayt Kwan.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
Right, but Kell, yeah, yeah, but you can say that.
But Flaco with that same team was scoring points and
putting up thirty.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
So no, I'm went you so.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Watched to where I'm going with that, Carrie, is that
I think a lot of it was mental, similar to
Tiger Woods, when you're getting when outside things to that
magnitude expose you and you kind of had this pristine
reputation with view you as a certain type of person
and his leader and scandalous. It's not a thing like

(11:51):
you got no barfight. Well we can kind of get
over that, you know, It's not a thing you were
hanging out at Vegas and got caught up and like
all right, well things happened.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
This was, as we know, very detailed.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
The quantity of accusers was insane, and I think that
takes a toll on you because, as you know, it's
just the little bit of how fast you pay or
how play, or how you read something or how you react,
just that one hair that separates the good to the
great or the guys who aren't playing well, right, and
if your mental isn't quite sharp, where you're there. And

(12:25):
that was the credit to the late great Kobe Bryant.
He was able to compartmentalize. Bro was showing up the
games and a helicopter.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
From leaving court. That's right, you know what I mean?
And he talks about it all the time.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
He talked about it that he was able to like,
all right, that's there, that's over. Now I'm on the court,
and not that that doesn't matter, not that I'm not
worried about it, and I got this whole life situation,
but for this next forty eight minutes, two and a
half hour in real time, I'm on the court, and
I think everybody can't do that right. What are they saying?
What are they looking at? What's my family?

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Thing?

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Are how they perceive?

Speaker 1 (12:58):
And I think you lose a little bit of that
miss and I think that played a role into what
we saw with DeShawn. But I also want to say
this too, Dylan Gabriel, is that he's gonna be in
a really tough situation because you have a large multitude
of people who are gonna want us like you know
how you know this? Normally it's the backup quarterback everybody's
claiming for. You have a lot of people in Cleveland
clamoring for the third string guy, which is crazy. You're

(13:21):
gonna have a lot of that nationwide, a lot of that,
people who are buying the jerseys showing up, a lot
of people loud on radio, loud on TV, like the
third is not even a backup. So Dylan Gaber is
an awkward situation where and I think it's gonna be
challenging for that locker room to stay tired. You can
speak on this. I'm gonna finish my thought. I want
you to speak on this. Can can that locker room withstand?

(13:45):
You already have Deshaun wats stuff and I think they
probably moved past that, right. But you have that, you
have the idea that Joe gives us the best option
to win now. But then again he's in our future.
And then you have where I think media, social media
is gonna be trying to pride Dylan Gabriel, who's gonna
have to be the one of the leaders yea and
also at Shador put him against each other. Maybe he

(14:06):
said that, look what he said that. What did he
mean by that? Ooh, he threw a interception? Just should
or get in So answer me this. On the other side,
how difficult they say, if you have two quarterbacks, you
don't have one? What if I have three? How does
that affect the lot? How does that affect the locker room?
I want you to answer that. On the other side,
it is The Odd Couple. My man carry Rhodes is

Speaker 1 (15:41):

who's it for? Rod Parker, Robin Join a little Vay
Cason this week we'll both be back, I believe Monday.
We'll both be locked in, ready to go. As we
get closer and close to the start of the NFL season,
we know Colllege football getting ready to kick off as well,
So some exciting times for sports fans or about a
month and a half away, give us sake month and

(16:04):
a half, a couple months carry from when you got
the NBA starting off and then fail in full swing
MLB playoffs yep, like that, and hockey obviously as well.
Like whatever your deal is, it's happening right then. So
we were right away from that, right around the corner
from that. With the iHeart Radio app, you can stream

Speaker 3 (16:40):
We got to eat from coming up here in about
seven minutes or so. Get good to talk to him.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Get his opinion and thoughts on some things that have
happened around the NFL. Speaking of opinions, I want to
get yours carry all right, So I asked you the
question you are with the Browns. So first I apologize,
and you guys have this situation where your starters. Joe
Flacco forty something years old. You kind of know there's

(17:06):
really no future in it. However, you believe, Yeah, he's
the guy we can win with now. Dylan Gabriel a
little older than the average rookie, played a lot of football,
look pretty good during the post or preseason, and then Shador.
You know what it comes with some talent, but also
the fanfare. All of that's still a lot to be
desired from him and Dylan Gabriel. How does this work.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
In the locker room? How does it? Does it?

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Does it become fractured at a point we want I'm
team Shador, I'm team the old guy because he got
to be a better chance to win because I'm old too.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
Is it team Dylan's our future? How does this work?

Speaker 5 (17:38):
Locker rooms get real clicky when things on going well.
So we'll just put it like that, like that's the
I think that's the blanket statement for what you're saying
right now. But with Cleveland, man, if if things get rocky,
they're gonna be guys that are signing with Shador. They're
gonna be guys signing with Dylan. But none of that

(17:59):
really If this team stays in the mix, because if
they're in the mix, you're gonna go with the guy
that gives you the best chance to win. Right You
have veterans on this team. You have guys that haven't
had a lot of success. They've had you know, they've
had some some moments, some sprinkling, some inkling of success
with under Kevin Stefanski, so they know what it feels like.
But if they're in that mix and have a chance

(18:21):
to win, this will be a mute point. But I'm
telling you, if it gets a little dicey, you're gonna
have guys rooting for the guys they want to go
in and be a part of be a part of
the team and start, and it can get real ugly, man.
And I think that's the crazy thing about I think
sports in general is you know you have all these
grown men that are really talented at what they do,
and you know they're it's all like type A personalities,

(18:44):
right they all want to be the best version themselves.
I mean during that season because it's such short lived,
right Like, even when you're a younger player in this league,
you're not guaranteed tomorrow, right Like, you have to win
right now. And I think that's the reason why you
can make a flock will be the starter right now
at this moment, because you can sell a team that

(19:05):
we can win with this guy. We just did it
like we got take. We can show you like what
this guy did for us, so we can believe in
him if you believe in him. But if it goes
south early, I don't even want to be around. It's
gonna be. It's gonna be. It's gonna be worse than preseason.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Kelvil.

Speaker 5 (19:20):
I'm telling you, like the noise come coming out of there,
You're gonna start seeing leaks. You're gonna hear these you know,
these people come down in the woolwork saying they got
stories from undisclosed players and anonymous players.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
It can be ugly.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
Well, I mean again, I just think that they have
a tough situation just within their own division alone.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
I mean, are they gonna be able to score with
the Browns?

Speaker 4 (19:40):
Right?

Speaker 3 (19:41):
Are you gonna be able to lamar is Lamar?

Speaker 4 (19:44):
Right?

Speaker 1 (19:44):
And we're gonna run that ball him? Henry is just
that's just such an explosive team. Even good defensively stealers
should be better with Aaron Rodgers and still to be determined.
We'll have to wait and see, but just within their
own division, it's gonna be tough, let alone the rest
of that that schedule.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
So that's where it's gonna be. To me, it's just
gonna get rough.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
And which is why I expect all three quarterbacks to
play a handful of games throughout this season. Joe Flacco
comes out the gate one in three, not looking great,
looking all forty years old, you know, and I think
they go to Dylan Gabriel. And if Dylan Gabriel has
four or five games, or he's you know again one
in three, one and four, two and five, and or

(20:22):
just gets roughed up, you know, just gets beat up
some I expect Shador to get in So I said this, dude,
I said it prior to Kenny Pickett go I said,
they keep four. Everybody's getting the moment because also, let's
just keep it a butt.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
They're not necessarily satisfied yet.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
We'll wait and see, but there's a chance they still
are competing against a guy who they don't even know yet,
meaning a quarterback for next year. These quarterbacks are also
competing against the five top five quarterbacks that could potentially
be coming out next year, maybe six. They're saying it
should be a really good quarterback year next year, and
it'll be five, five or six guys that can come

(21:01):
out and five or six can make the first round.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
And the Browns, I think nobody wants to suck.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Yeah, but I also think they're like, look, their third
and fifth round picks, Joe Flacco is going to be
gone here. And if we aren't great in the season
and were you know, four and thirteen, we're right back
in it and we'll go right back to.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Grab somebody else. I'm gonna tell you.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
I'm telling you I expect them to still, you know,
there's still a guy they're competing on against who they
don't even know.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
Let me tell you this, Kelvin.

Speaker 5 (21:31):
The thing about these three guys right now, Flacco obviously
has won and he knows how to handle this situation.
He had to hand the baton off to Lamar Jackson, right,
And it wasn't it wasn't seramony, it wasn't ceremonious when
he did it. He didn't he didn't think it was
just time to pass it off to Lamar.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
Right.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
I still don't think he thinks right, right, So that's
what I'm trying to get to So at this point
right now, you didn't even add that element, right, He's
not just will he just be okay with being if
you said in the worst case scenario one and three
and just passing it off to the young guy? Like
that's another layer to this quarterback story that we haven't
even talked about yet, Like it, will he be okay

(22:11):
with it?

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Even at his age of forty?

Speaker 1 (22:13):
You know what we're So you're saying we're looking at
his any given Sunday and we got Dennis play and.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
Willy Beamon going at it right now.

Speaker 5 (22:20):
It could be the door is Willy Beaman, Hey, I
keep the ladies cream?

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Yeah, without a doubt, Like I think that might be
what we're looking at here. We got Apra Salaam get
ready to join us. We'll get his thoughts on this
and more throughout this uh this preseason that's coming to
a close here, the cuts that have happened today. We
finally got to fifty three man rosters. Right now, Chris
Wessett is gonna get a set on what's trending.

Speaker 8 (22:43):
Chris, did we tell him, Carrie, I've been tell him that.

Speaker 5 (22:48):
Call you call you call him man, Chris Perce, Come on, man,
it's perfect, I said per Fetnah.

Speaker 8 (22:54):
He said like wires crossed up over drama, only he
calls me a usc Chris because he doesn't even want
to try it. So you know what, you at least
made the effort, is what I'm meaning.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
No, Chris, you got it.

Speaker 8 (23:06):
That's right. That's right. You guys are talking about cut
down day. Let's get to some of the other big
names that have been going out. The Giants are waving
fam favorite backup quarterback and one of my Italian brother
and Tommy DeVito, uh, bringing to a close that era there.
Tommy DeVito, of course, back two years ago with a
surprising victory over the Green Bay Packers. The Detroit Lions
have waived rookie defensive end Ahmad hassanin with an injury settlement.

(23:29):
There's only fifty men on the fifty three man roster
for the Lions at present, indicating they will still make
some moves coming up here in the future. Seahawks releasing
veteran wide receiver of Marquez Valdez. Scantling Panthers are releasing
Pro Bowl or Hunter Renfro. Commanders release wave quarterback excuse
me Sam Hartman. Steelers cut veteran wide receiver Robert Woods,
and the Cowboys cut their quarterback Will Greer. Jets cut

(23:52):
sophomore wide receiver Malachi Corley in a stunning reversal. The
team traded up to the first pick of the third
round just last year to take him, but new regime
in New York means the end for Corley's time there.
Injuries abound for the Saints. Quarterback Taysom Hill and tight
end Foster Moarobles start the year on the pup list.
The Saints of name Spencer Ratlers they're starting quarterback, while

(24:12):
also releasing running back Clyde Edwards Hilaire. The Chargers are
moving running back Naji Harris off the non football injury
roster and back to the active roster. Harris is recovering
from injury sustained from a fireworks accident, should be a
good sign he's ready to go for the season. And
Texans safety Jimmy Ward was placed on the Commissioner's exempt list, today,
meaning he cannot practice or a ten games while on

(24:34):
the list. The Texans also placed him earlier on the
pup list, all stemming from allegations of a domestic violence
civil suit that was revealed last Thursday, US opened Coco
goff on right now, taking on. I'm not even gonna
try to pronounce that name. Excuse me, Oh, now you
want to talk about names. I hadn't practice for this
particular name. I hadn't practiced for this one. No, I

(24:56):
would send it to you too. We'll see you take
a crack at it. Egoswaatic defeated Emilion Aranyo in straight sets.
Yannick Center defeated vit Kolprovat in three sets. Stefano Sissypaus
defeats Alexandra Muller in four sets. In baseball, Alsa Young,
hopeful of Nathan Ovaldi's twenty twenty five season, is done.
He was diagnosed with the rotator cuff strain is being

(25:17):
shut down by the Rangers. And the most important news
of the day, guys, Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift has
announced their engagement, changing the fate of the National Football
League entirely. Back to you, guys, Carrick.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
First of all, I don't act like you're not excited.
I'm not, man. And we'll get to her, and we'll
get to it.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
We will get to it to whatever you know want
you want to write it, and you want to co
write a song with her? Stop playing I do not
kelvin Washington, Kerry Rose, the I couple here on a
trash talking Tuesday, which is coming up in a little
over about an hour or so, we got aph Salaam
joining a guess now ache knee stiff back, Joyce not cooperate.
Some days your body is just like nope. And all
those days, luckily there's a lead, but just one pill.

(25:54):
The lead provides up to twelve hours of paying relief,
so you can keep moving us ass director E for
what's up?

Speaker 4 (25:59):
Man?

Speaker 3 (26:02):
Good? It's like I just I just talked.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
To you, Yeah, and we were talking about this man
and now it's official. Carrie and I just had a
whole conversation about it. You got QB number three will
be Shador Sanders, Uh, he makes the roster.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
And I was telling I was telling Carry.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
I mean, you and I were on the air live
when it happened to Kenny pick a trade and we
kind of conversed about that, and it almost feels like
the football gods, the fate was like, you know what,
this has to happen. Therefore we can have the drama,
the conversations to give all the all of you sports
media people topics to have throughout the whole NFL season,
and this being one of them.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
Makes the cut. Do you what do you make of it?

Speaker 1 (26:45):
And did you obviously you expected this, but what do
you make of how three quarterbacks in the locker room?
I asked carry, I ask you the same thing. Can
this be difficult if they go one and four? Does
it start to fracture the locker room?

Speaker 4 (26:56):
No, he doesn't fracture the locker room. Like I said
on the show yesterday, they don't really have a quarterback.
They don't have a QB one. So they got a
bunch of band aids and a bunch of a bunch
of guys they that may be able to play. Now.
Joe Flacco's way past his time. Before they brought him

(27:16):
off the heap in twenty twenty three, he was, you know,
coaching and picking the kids up in the carpool lane,
stuff like that. But they had some success with them,
so they brought them back kind of like a stop gap.
We know they're going to attack the draft in the
first round for one of the six or seven guys
coming out of college next year, and as far as

(27:40):
Dylan Gabriel and should Do her landing where they were,
I mean, one's a third round pick and one's a
fifth round pick, and it's all about how much you
have invested in those those players, and investment is the
draft pick. Now, if it was switched around, then should
do it would be the backup quarterback and Dylan Gabriel

(28:01):
would be the third string quarterback. That's just how it goes, right,
the third the third dring, the third round draft pick,
and Dylan Gabriel played well enough to secure that second spot,
and Shadour he played okay. It's a lot to learn,
a lot of bad habits that he had in college
that we talked about that he needs to give it up.

(28:24):
Speaking of give it up, throw the ball away, son,
please don't take those hits. And so it's shaped it.
This whole summer has been about this and that and
and the draft, and they're talking about that doing the
combine all of that to land exactly where it was
supposed to be. He's going to be able to develop,
get a lot of reps, scout team, practice, squad reps,

(28:47):
and he'll be okay if he can use this as
motivation and the learning process from.

Speaker 5 (28:53):
You sound like a vet so, but let's speak from
a younger a younger audience or a younger players PSPEC. Right,
So both of these guys are guys that came in
with higher expectations for themselves. Now that doesn't mean the
team has that, but you know how it is you
come into the league, you feel like I can play
with these guys, especially once you get on the practice
field and you see how that goes. So you can

(29:14):
tell both of these guys believe they belong. So you
don't think if they start one in three and those
two guys have a chance to ballot out and have
a chance to get some plan time, that won't be
any fraction fractures in the locker room between players and
coaching staff alike.

Speaker 3 (29:29):
For no one of those players.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
I know, I don't think so because we don't know
what like. It's not like one is so much better
than the other one. I agree, Yeah, you know, it's
not like someone you know, being Is it taking advantage
of or is it disservice happening? They're trying to figure
out who can look the games? Yes, right, the whole
locker room trying to figure out. I don't care who
it is, just as long as they can win, right,

(29:53):
And so it's one of those situations where as a
young player, you just got to go in and put
your head down and and go. You can't control how
long you play and when you play. All you can
control is how you play. So you better start focusing
and taking these mental reps. Just because you're not in
the game or running with the first team offense, that
doesn't mean those aren't reps to be had. If you

(30:15):
were called on in the classroom or in the meeting,
you better know the answer to every single question that's asked.
That'll let them know that you're tapped in and you're
locked in whether you're playing or not. The good backup
quarterbacks that can make a name for themselves are the
ones that come in with no preparation. Allah rock Party

(30:37):
right just threw them in. They needed them. He goes
undefeated for a year and a half, they go to
the Super Bowl, and they go to the NFC Championship
Game in the two years he was at the Helm.
That's how you make it happen. That's how you make it.
Rock Perty wasn't getting a bunch of reps. He was
not getting a bunch of reps. And so there's always excuses,

(30:59):
there's all of why something didn't do this, So why
are they doing this to you? Without all of that,
It's just your work and your focus. That's it.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Ethan Salama our guest, of course, former offensive Live in
Fox Sports Weightial weekend host as well All with the
Odd Couple covin Washington, Kerry Rose and for Rob on
his trash talking Tuesday. You and I talked a little
bit about Jackson Dart last week, had to have. Charlie
White Senior was on the show, spoke highly of him.
His son was his quarterback coach at Old Miss and
offensive coordinator, and he was just kind of raving about it.

(31:34):
He said, I knew and he wasn't record. We pulled
up the old we pulled up the receipts. Back in January,
Charlie put out a tweet like, Yo, I'm telling y'all, now,
this kid's gonna be a first round pick.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
He's that guy, so on and so forth. What are
you making him?

Speaker 1 (31:46):
And kind of how the Giants are handling their quarterback
situation as they got rid of the Vito there and
now you have Jackson Dart expected to be behind Russell Wilson,
how long will that last?

Speaker 4 (32:00):
Well, that's up to Russell. I can tell you that
that's up to Russell. If Russell Wilson can hit the
ground running with the Giants and revitalize his career and
they're three and zero or two and one or four
and one or something like that, then he's gonna play.
He's gonna play. But if they're the opposite of that
one in three zero and four, then the Russell Wilson

(32:24):
experiment is over. I mean, Jackson Dart, he's performed well
enough this all. I was impressed by him this preseason.
Took Garner a look sooner than later because they know
that that's going to be the that's that's their franchise,
right that that is. They're gonna build this franchise around

(32:46):
him based on the small sample side we saw, and
they're not gonna waste any time. They're not gonna waste
any time if it's not going well with Russell. And
I'm pulling for Russell, I hope he, you know, can
breathe life into that to that organization. But eventually, once
you got a young first round drafted quarterback, and he

(33:07):
exhibited that he can play and handle the pressure. Man,
they gonna be itching. They're gonna be itching to get
him in.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
You know, it's funny even so, you know, I mean,
we've been talking about Shadur a lot, and and we
it's cut day, and so you know it's his brother
got got released in Tampa Bay. I mean, obviously, talks
coming out of early camp was that he was playing
well and performing, you know, doing doing doing a pretty
good job. But now obviously he gets into the corel
the chure role on the field and throw throws a

(33:35):
punch and gets cut the next day. Was that directly
attributed to the punch or was there something else there
as well? With what uh what Silo being released?

Speaker 4 (33:44):
Well, no, I just don't. I don't think he made
the impact that he I probably thought he was gonna
gonna make. It's it's hard, no matter who your dad is,
no matter what's going on, it's hard to make an
NFL roster carry. You know this, right, he's an undrafted
free agent and he didn't get drafted. Uh so it's

(34:05):
even harder. You got to step up the show. He
should have been on every single special team he should
have made every single special teams tackle or been in
the frame like that's how you make a team, especially
at that to the dB receiver linebacker. No, no, no,
I'm going I, me and the special teams coach gonna
be best friend. If you don't believe that that's how

(34:26):
you should approach or you feel like you are you
know better and should be just no, no, that that
all let ego stuff gotta go, Gerry. You know that
specs the team can keep you in the league for
a decade.

Speaker 3 (34:41):
Well we have to wait.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Yeah, we'll have to wait and see how that all
works out for uh Shiloh. But I know uh door's there,
so Deonix decided. And also you guys know this too.
There's practice squad waivers, all that good stuff. We'll see
what happens with him. A man appreciate you as always, brother,
absolutely appreciate you.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Yeah, Ephram Slim there of course.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
On the odd couple, all right, we got Play of
the Day, tirec Player of the Day on the way,
and also Aaron Rodgers may or may or may not
be doing what.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
We'll tell you. See.

Speaker 1 (35:12):

It's the odd couple kelvin Washington Carry.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
Roads on a trash talking Tuesday, looking forward to that.
We're hour away from that carry so we'll see what
they got cooked up for us on this Tuesday. Right now,
it is time for the tire reck play of the.

Speaker 9 (35:45):
Day, the three to two other win of Cal swinging
a well hit ball deep the left field head into
the upper deck, State Fair upper deck. Goodbye Baseball number
fifteen for Cal Rawley. He becomes one of only thirty
three members of the fifty long run club. Have a

(36:06):
magical season. Just contissues for Cal Rawley. Holy smokes want a.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
Shot, that's right.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
You have the Mariners radio network there, and what a
season that has been for him. Fifty home runs for
a catcher, the first time that's ever happened. And we've
had some amazing catchers throughout baseball's you know, long historied existence.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
So congrats to him.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
The big dumper with a nickname too, that's the tyreck
player of the day for over forty years. Tiraq has
been helping customers find the right tires for how, what
and where they drive shit fast and free back by.
Free Wild has a protection with convenient insulation options like
mobile tire installation tirack dot com the way tire byings
should be carry I we're heading towards a year of

(36:52):
Robin Hide doing the Odd Couple. I've had a blast.
I think we've had some great shows. We've gone at it,
we've had funny moments, we've had all that. Yeah, but
one of the things that you know, part of the
job that we got to deal with, we got to
talk about. I was so excited, Carrie because I felt
like it had an expiration date.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
Oh my goodness. And that was Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
God.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
Now Aaron Rodgers would to go out here and say
maybe he k Metcalf was talking to some folks at
you know, camp, and he says, hey man, you know,
I'm loving what's going on so far and it's just
been great, and he's like, hey man, should we can
even do it again next year? And then Aaron Rodgers,
sitting there on he maybe, and so he had hinted

(37:37):
that this year would be his last. Sound like Kodak.
Hope so right, right, right right? I hope so, And
now he's doing that. I mean I didn't mean it
like that. What happened was no. I'll say this, as
much as I like to joke on him, I am
one of those persons the older I got because I
wanted the pristine career, right, I wanted.

Speaker 3 (37:59):
The job way.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
Just when you're getting at the end, but you're still good,
you jump into the end zone, get helicopters in, you
win a super Bowl, you win two, you walk away.
What an amazing career? You get that amazing walk off?
Not everybody gets that, right, And not only that, what's.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
Wrong with.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
Doing something you wanted to do since you were five
years old, having an opportunity to do it, making an
obscene amount of money, and also you love it? And
so to me, the older I got, the more I
was like, I'm alright with that. And me and Rob
actually different from that. As much as I've been against,
you know, like the whole Aaron Rodger things, it actually
wasn't as if he was a horrible quarterback. As much

(38:42):
as I look at the franchises and say, when do
you want to start to move forward to have your guy.
You get what I mean, You're still when do we
get our guy? If you're if you're, if you're the Browns,
when do we roll into the Dylan Gabriel or the
Chador era? And so more so than that, because I'm
not mad at players. Listen, if you want to you
down as this thing.

Speaker 5 (39:00):
Yes, so assistant coach that thing for a couple of years.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
You know you.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
Feel me because I older I got the more I realized, Man,
these guys are getting crazy money to do something they
love to do, and that thing does has an expiration day.
You and I can do this to the coles Coo too. Yes,
sixty seventy eight, you know, until it's that time you
were pro and you had an expiration day. Yes, hey,

(39:25):
you got to get those sex while you can. So
I'm I'm I've kind of changed my stance on this
as well. I mean myself personally. I walked away and
I could still play, and team still wanted me to play.
And so I have a level of compassion to the guys,
for the guys like an Aaron Rodgers or guys like

(39:46):
Tom Brady, that that competitive fire, that fervor that they
have to play the game because it's not about the
money for those two. I mean, they got a lot
of money, so it's about money, it's not so it's
about the competitive fervor that they have, right or trying
to prove somebody wrong or right. Those things happen, and
so when they can't give it up because of those things,

(40:07):
I feel for them because because that's never gonna have
anything that's gonna rival this, right, Like, you can go
do this what we're doing now.

Speaker 5 (40:16):
Tom's doing broadcasting, but I'm sure he's at the games
wishing he was on the field playing, you know, so
like he's so close to it that it still hurts
and it burns. And I'm sure so for guys like
this who are trying to keep playing and stretch it out,
do that because those checks when you leave, they don't
look like that no more so, I you know, kudos
to that.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
You know.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
There was a guy by one of my shots of
my boy Vic, my best friend. He had mentioned years
ago he was like, dude, I'm worried about Kevin Garnett.
I was like, huh. He said, Man, what is he
gonna do when it's over? Because he's so intense, he's
so into it. And I get what you mean, like
Tom Brady's like and you hear that from some players.
What will fill that void of the work, the blood

(40:59):
to sweat, the tears, in the roar of that crowd.
And I'll envy you guys in having to find that thing.

Speaker 3 (41:04):
Kelvin nothing.

Speaker 5 (41:05):
I do, music, acting, everything, and it still doesn't compare
to that energy you mean doing radio with Kelvin
