Philadelphia radio show earlier this week, it was actually yesterday morning,
and he was talking about the toushbush. I never missed
that radio so yeah, I'm sure you don't. Rob They
asked him. They asked him about the Toush push and
whether you know it's going to be banned over the
course of the next year here because there's they've been

catching a lot of flak, especially because of their win
over the Chiefs, got controversial with all the false starts
and stuff, and Jason Kelsey had this to say, I.

Think the play is done. I think that the play
was going to be done last year. I think that
there's a lot of people within the league and multiple
levels that want to play to be gone, which is fine.
I think we'll still go back to renning quarterbacks. Tha,
I'm sure they'll figure out ways to be successful. I'm
not really that concerned with it. To be very candid.

I'm just gonna say this, this is shame on the
NFL and all the cry baby teams that can't figure
out what they're gonna do.

That's what this is about. It's not about the referees.

Like that, it hasn't been a legal motion on every
single touch push for all these last few years. On
that one, Okay, they blew it. They blew the call.
And this is what a reaction is because they can't
figure it out or they don't know how to stop it,
and they're mad because the Eagles have been to the
Super Bowl twice in the last three years.

This is all jealousy. Come up with your own.

Play, figure something out on how to get it stopped.
You guys are all these football geniuses. You're the ones
who brag about sleeping in the football.

your football office nineteen hours a day and I sleep
in my office. But I can't stop the tooch push.
So we got to ban it. Did you see that
Tom Brady called it out? It was a legal motion. Yes,

that play was You mean to tell me they've been
doing a legal motion for three years.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Stop cry babies, figure it out.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
You're just mad that they came up with something that's
almost impossible to stop.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
And you can't figure out what to do. That's the issue,
And now what do you want to do? Get rid
of it?

You know what what I love about this because the
committee has the rules Committee, They go over this stuff
and what should we change. They spend a couple of
weeks doing it over the offseason. And you know what
I love about the Eagles. The Eagles instead of calling
it the touch push, they called it the kiss my
tousch push.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Then they kept doing it.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
They keep doing it, and they do it to the
ninety seven percent success rate so far this season. They're
averaging last forwards a last year was eighty four percent.
And they're doing it double the clip of any other team.
The closest team to do it who is the Bills.
And you know what happened to the Bills. You know
what happened rob They didn't get it. They couldn't do
it in the postseason. A couple of times it cost them.

And so now what's happening is one flaw that I
have for the Eagles.

You know what the thing is when you do something good,
but you don't have to do it all the time.
They need it. Caught the hush push.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
They're too loud, they're doing it too much, and they
got caught on national game. Everybody's watching it, and everybody
saw the flaws. Thought whose fault was that. I'm just saying,
now everybody gets to go. We'll look at all these people,
look at the league emotions.

Could it. They're doing it too much. Keep it on
the low. You do it better than anyone by far.
Do it looks use it when you want to, but
use it every now and again. They use it so
much that everybody saw it.

But they're so successful at it is absolutely a part
of their game. And we're gonna talk a little bit
later on about Jalen Hurts and I'll bring up some
more thoughts to this. But when you just look odd
to dive into the numbers, they're more than anybody else.
They did like one hundred and forty five hundred and
fifty times last year. The next couple was like seventy
seven with the Bills, and a couple of other teams
have tried it, but they're not as good, They're not

as proficient, and I think what's gonna happen rob is
gonna work in reverse for them. I think a large
part of why they didn't ban it this past season,
and we had all the owners arguing about it, we
had Jason Kelce even came in made a presentation for them.
I think it's because ultimately it's what we're saying. So
why I gotta change the rule because of one team?
Y'all all can do it. Everybody can do it, and

I think it's now gonna be the reverse. I think
they're gonna ban it because they're gonna say, well, only
one team is doing it. It's the sense of having
it only one team uses it, and it is bad football.
It's ugly to our eyes. And I think they're gonna
use that and it's actually gonna work in reverse. So
they're gonna be guilty, uh, victims of their own success
with this, and they're gonna get it abolutely gonna get overturned.
I just think it's it's it's a shame. It really,

I've never seen something. It's like Kareem skyhook that only
one person did that.

Did the NBA come out and say you can't be
over seven foot and you can't lob.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
The ball over your head and your left shoulder you hooked.

This reminds me of like college basketball when they integrated
and then they stopped. You couldn't dunk the ball because
black players could dunk. Oh wait a minute, that was real.
Think about college at all and couldn't dunk the basketball.
Who sat there and go, oh wait a minute, we
need to change that's not fair.

Black guys can dunk.

Uh, So we need to change the rules so that
you can't dunk basketball.

Think about that doctor J played too when he couldn't
dunk in college?

Think about that David Thompson who was small, he like
six or four or something had to jump ahead. One
of the greatest dunkers ever dump just throw it in.
They couldn't dunk.

that has been good to Philadelphia.

And then the ones that came out, they were in.

They were a genius in putting this in play, and
no one not having It's not one hundred percent.

You just told the numbers. No, but it was eighty
four last year.

It is eighty four years, Okay, so and they won't
end ninety four because if you look at the numbers
all that's what I'm saying. It was two thousand and
two when they started it, ninety three percent, but they
only did it twenty seven times. They've done it one
hundred fifty, I should say over the last three years.

Let me clarify that over the last three years, and
then twenty twenty three was eighty eight percent.

Last year was actually eighty one percent. That's what I'm saying.

So it's going down because you got a feel for
familiar with it.

Yes, they have gone up with their usage of it, though,
but it's gone down. You know, they use it forty
eight times last year, forty two of the year before,
twenty seven the year before, and right now, depending on
what you call it, they're at about nearly ten this year,
already in the early part of the season. So we'll
have a longer conversation about this. The usage in Jalen
hurts and litter. But I've just never seen something where

one team was that dominant at something and that everybody
else can't do it at their level.

And again, it reminds me of Careem in a skyhood.

I just want to make it clear from Chicago, but

Problem. So, my problem with the tush push is this
was a rule change based on something else. So the
rule change was offensive people could now push a pile forward.
If you guys remember some time ago, if if a
running back or somebody with the ball got caught up
and they were going slow, getting ready to go down,
defensive players could go in there and just ram him. Right,
(16:32):
So they said, okay, offensive players can now push the pile.
They can't hold them, they can't hold the running back up,
but they can push the pile. So they didn't institute
a tush push play. They just manipulated the rule to
do this tush push play. So to me, it's not
a play. That's the problem I had with it. It's
not a handoff, it's not a pitch, it's nothing. They
just created this false scrum and then let offensive players push.

I mean, I know that that you're being pushed, But
did you take that you take the ball and moving forward?

not allowing the defense to make subs, absolutely draining the
defense on his way to win, nobody was complaining they

didn't have to alter the rules. He found the loophole
and he he he totally exploited it. You gotta let
the Eagles live. And on top of that, man, when
they look for the injury data, there was none to
be found. So now they're trying to blame it on
the referees. This is absolutely the referee fault. Nothing to
do with the Eagles.

running the ball himself. So he's rushing the ball effectively.
Is that the passing game is quiet because they're shutting

I look at that team right now, and I say,
they're doing whatever it takes. And if that's running, if

And then I go to the other side of the ball.
The Rams kind of built this thing up. Obviously, Matthew

back and all of that. Uh, so far, so good
for him and the team.

They've managed to find the best thing you want in
foot for a football team, complimentary football. Remember that first
game of the season, the offense looked like garbage, but
the defense came up and made plays at the end.
But they got the punch out the end of the game.
And then in Tennessee you saw what the Rams really are,
a defense that can make plays.

And then when the Rams offense Tennessee, I mean, really,
it's not it's.

Not about the parade, but this it's about showing what
the Rams offense can be when the defense is made plays.

Last year they struggled offensively. There was a bad strike.

I just think the NFC has a lot of good teams,

and they already took the Eagles to the brink last year.
What makes you think they can't do it this year?
And this time with the Eagles tough schedule, the Rams.
We have the NFC Championship game in their house, So
why can't the Rams go to the Super Bowl with

in my top four, not right now.

I think the Rams Seavic McVeigh and Matthew Stafford what
they've done. When they get to the postseason, they are
very very good. They're very dangerous. And that's why a
lot of people are high on them. And defensively, they're
kind of like the the Packers, and that they're really
yelling defensively, and they keep getting better and better on
the defensive side of the ball. And now we get

to the Chargers, the real team.

far they've played pretty well. They won, They've won two
big games, and they're off running. I mean, that's all

I think that the Giants, they're competing and you don't

that's a game where the Chiefs really got to prove
that they are the team of we thought they were

people are going to be impressed after Sunday night.

Well I think, I mean, if we're going we were

with them, sorry about their whole goal is to just
keep it close. And I don't mean the game itself.
I mean record wise, Let's just be two and two, right, Okay,

feeling good, they feel like they can then take off.

So for them, and that's why when Rob and I
you know, we get into it about it. I say
that's why, similarly to Baltimore last year, starting off on two,
I don't have much worry because I don't think the
Broncos are gonna be as good as everybody thinks the Raiders.
So they might be third of division, No, they're gonna
be second, probably behind the Chargers, and I feel like
they're gonna get in the spot. And then once you
have a healthy Chiefs team with Patrick Mahomes, that's where

I would go worry against any but don't matter who,
because that's just what they've done.

I think you just had the Chargers winning the AFC West,
that would be monumental a lot.

champs with the Eagles, they were right there in it.

just Charger Chargers are Chargers, They're right there in it.

think the Chiefs are saying, we're fine, we're missing guys,
We're fine, but they're gonna have to win those close games.

and all that. So tonight is gonna feel real special,

levels that want to play to be gone, which is fine.
I think we'll still go back to renning quarterbacks. Tha,

You know what what I love about this because the
committee has the rules Committee, They go over this stuff
and what should we change. They spend a couple of
weeks doing it over the offseason. And you know what
I love about the Eagles. The Eagles instead of calling
it the touch push, they called it the kiss my
tousch push.

Then they kept doing it.

They keep doing it, and they do it to the
ninety seven percent success rate so far this season. They're
averaging last forwards a last year was eighty four percent.
And they're doing it double the clip of any other team.
The closest team to do it who is the Bills.
And you know what happened to the Bills. You know
what happened rob They didn't get it. They couldn't do
it in the postseason. A couple of times it cost them.

And so now what's happening is one flaw that I
have for the Eagles.

You know what the thing is when you do something good,
but you don't have to do it all the time.
They need it. Caught the hush push.

They're too loud, they're doing it too much, and they
got caught on national game. Everybody's watching it, and everybody
saw the flaws. Thought whose fault was that. I'm just saying,
now everybody gets to go. We'll look at all these people,
look at the league emotions.

Could it. They're doing it too much. Keep it on
the low. You do it better than anyone by far.
Do it looks use it when you want to, but
use it every now and again. They use it so
much that everybody saw it.

But they're so successful at it is absolutely a part
of their game. And we're gonna talk a little bit
later on about Jalen Hurts and I'll bring up some
more thoughts to this. But when you just look odd
to dive into the numbers, they're more than anybody else.
They did like one hundred and forty five hundred and
fifty times last year. The next couple was like seventy
seven with the Bills, and a couple of other teams
have tried it, but they're not as good, They're not

as proficient, and I think what's gonna happen rob is
gonna work in reverse for them. I think a large
part of why they didn't ban it this past season,
and we had all the owners arguing about it, we
had Jason Kelce even came in made a presentation for them.
I think it's because ultimately it's what we're saying. So
why I gotta change the rule because of one team?
Y'all all can do it. Everybody can do it, and

I think it's now gonna be the reverse. I think
they're gonna ban it because they're gonna say, well, only
one team is doing it. It's the sense of having
it only one team uses it, and it is bad football.
It's ugly to our eyes. And I think they're gonna
use that and it's actually gonna work in reverse. So
they're gonna be guilty, uh, victims of their own success
with this, and they're gonna get it abolutely gonna get overturned.
I just think it's it's it's a shame. It really,

I've never seen something. It's like Kareem skyhook that only
one person did that.

Did the NBA come out and say you can't be
over seven foot and you can't lob.

This reminds me of like college basketball when they integrated
and then they stopped. You couldn't dunk the ball because
black players could dunk. Oh wait a minute, that was real.
Think about college at all and couldn't dunk the basketball.
Who sat there and go, oh wait a minute, we
need to change that's not fair.

hundred fifty, I should say over the last three years.

Let me clarify that over the last three years, and
then twenty twenty three was eighty eight percent.

Yes, they have gone up with their usage of it, though,

have a longer conversation about this. The usage in Jalen
hurts and litter. But I've just never seen something where

one team was that dominant at something and that everybody
else can't do it at their level.

was a rule change based on something else. So the
rule change was offensive people could now push a pile forward.
If you guys remember some time ago, if if a
running back or somebody with the ball got caught up
and they were going slow, getting ready to go down,
defensive players could go in there and just ram him. Right,

So they said, okay, offensive players can now push the pile.
They can't hold them, they can't hold the running back up,
but they can push the pile. So they didn't institute
a tush push play. They just manipulated the rule to
do this tush push play. So to me, it's not
a play. That's the problem I had with it. It's
not a handoff, it's not a pitch, it's nothing. They
just created this false scrum and then let offensive players push.

I mean, I know that that you're being pushed, But
did you take that you take the ball and moving forward?

need to, they can put up, but then they don't.
What do you make of this this offense? You got
Chris Jones talking smack to Jalen Hurts, like what y'all doing?

Y'all ain't even doing nothing.
Speaker 12 (26:17):
I think the issue is right now that everybody is
trying to stop sa kuon Barkley.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
And then the next thing is you focus on how'd
that work in the Super Bowl? Stop in Saqua. It
didn't work. Davante had a huge game. But the issue
is now, Okay, you're gonna take you take away, you
over the top stuff too.

So now we're just gonna dink and dunk.

And what we're seeing is that Jalen Hurts being a
good effective quarterback, is not trying to force the issue
like we see eighty percent of the National Football League
quarterbacks do. Jalen Hurts is taking his time fighting the reds.
You know what, A lot of the Reeds are just
running the ball himself. So he's rushing the ball effectively.
Is that the passing game is quiet because they're shutting

it down.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
I look at that team right now, and I say,
they're doing whatever it takes. And if that's running, if
that's push pushing, if it's passing.
Speaker 3 (27:05):

And and again you look at the last four or
five years with Jalen and it's been a bunch of success. Uh.
And then I go to the other side of the ball.
The Rams kind of built this thing up. Obviously, Matthew
Stafford was the offseason you think you were here. We
even talked about it. What's going on with him, his
back and all of that. Uh, so far, so good
for him and the team.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
The Rams.
Speaker 12 (27:24):
They've managed to find the best thing you want in
foot for a football team, complimentary football. Remember that first
game of the season, the offense looked like garbage, but
the defense came up and made plays at the end.
But they got the punch out the end of the game.
And then in Tennessee you saw what the Rams really are,
a defense that can make plays.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
And then when the Rams offense Tennessee, I mean, really,
it's not it's.
Speaker 12 (27:54):
Not about the parade, but this it's about showing what
the Rams offense can be when the defense is made plays.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Last year they struggled offensively. There was a bad strike.
Tell you what Rob G and I have gone over.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
It was about five or six where they only scored
average thirteen points a game and very few touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
It was just struggle. It was weird.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
It was a struggle. And then they get to Philadelphia.
They have a chance, right and they go four and
now they had a chance to win that game, and
they go four, and now in that stretch down there,
what are the expectations of the Rams, because I know
a lot of people are high on them. I don't
see them, as you know, coming out of the NFC.
I just think the NFC has a lot of good teams,

and the Rams to me, would be on the second four,
not the top four.
Speaker 12 (28:45):
Are you what being four teams better than the Rams
in the NFC?
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Well, I mean you got the Egals, okay, right, you
got the Packers.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
Well, I didn't say what I'm not sure he said.
He said four, though I'm not saying the Lions. So
I'm trying to think of where else did I have
my team?
Speaker 5 (29:06):
It was supposed to be the Commanders with Commanders no
coming into the season, don't say, don't shake your head.

Yes, the Commanders were ahead of the Rams coming into
the season, and for some people they still have the Lions.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
I don't but some people, Now, if you're.

Talking to your to your coworker here from Spectrum, he's
gonna have the Lions in the top four, Am I right?
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Kelvin or not? The Bucks they're trying Tampa Bay is
pretty good.

I mean Baker Mayfield, So it's not like there's nobody there.
I'm not a Lion. I'm not on the Lions. I
think they take a step back this year.

Let's take a logical look at what happened in the
off season. Washington pretty much stayed the same.

The Packers, Samuel.

Staff also has a has a backed issue that could
flare up at any time during the season.

But let's say it doesn't happen. You got the Packers.
They got Michael Parsons. That makes them a little bit better.
The Rams got Devonte Adams replacing an old Cooper Cup
and they already took the Eagles to the brink last year.
What makes you think they can't do it this year?
And this time with the Eagles tough schedule, the Rams.
We have the NFC Championship game in their house, So
why can't the Rams go to the Super Bowl with

a better round.

I know you live in Los Angeles and I get this.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
I'll I get it, okay, but I don't have them
in my top four, not right now.

I think the Rams Seavic McVeigh and Matthew Stafford what
they've done. When they get to the postseason, they are
very very good. They're very dangerous. And that's why a
lot of people are high on them. And defensively, they're
kind of like the the Packers, and that they're really
yelling defensively, and they keep getting better and better on
the defensive side of the ball. And now we get

to the Chargers, the real team.

No, I'm not on the train so far. But so
far they've played pretty well. They won, They've won two
big games, and they're off running. I mean, that's all
I mean. I've never been a Chargers guy. Uh Will
Hawball has had success in the NFL before.

With the forty nine Ers, they couldn't They didn't win
a championship, but they were in a mixed you know.

Okay, you're talking about the top four in the NFC
looking at it today, would you put the Chargers in
the top two.

In the a f C. No, top four in the AFC. Okay,
that's fair, Okay, top two too much? I know who
I don't have in the top Yeah you knew that.

I think if they lose to the Giants this week,
which would be impossible, almost nearly a possible, it's not impossible.
Where's that game is it in New York on Jersey
or is that I remember?
Speaker 3 (31:38):
I think I think it's that game is an arrowhead,
isn't it? The Giants us confirm that.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
I think that the Giants, they're competing and you don't
know what Russell Wilson is showing up like, yeah, the Giants.
Speaker 12 (31:53):
They're not getting blown out Sunday night. I think it's
going to be a competitive game where that yeah, yeah,
so it is in the medal lands. So I think
that's a game where the Chiefs really got to prove
that they are the team of we thought they were
a championship team. Even if they win, I don't think
people are going to be impressed after Sunday night.
Speaker 5 (32:11):
Well I think, I mean, if we're going we were
gonna talk about the charge, but I'll just say this
with them, sorry about their whole goal is to just
keep it close. And I don't mean the game itself.
I mean record wise, Let's just be two and two, right, Okay,
Let's just be three and two at the five, so
that when we get Rushie Rice Worth, these backs shoulders
feeling good, they feel like they can then take off.

So for them, and that's why when Rob and I
you know, we get into it about it. I say
that's why, similarly to Baltimore last year, starting off on two,
I don't have much worry because I don't think the
Broncos are gonna be as good as everybody thinks the Raiders.
So they might be third of division, No, they're gonna
be second, probably behind the Chargers, and I feel like
they're gonna get in the spot. And then once you
have a healthy Chiefs team with Patrick Mahomes, that's where

I would go worry against any but don't matter who,
because that's just what they've done.

I think you just had the Chargers winning the AFC West,
that would be monumental a lot.

Some people had that a lot, yeah.

Because like it's been what the Arrowhead Invitational for the

Yeah, but people see cracks in the armor, like like seriously,

a shift there, like right there saying like they used
to win those games.

The only thing so if you if that's absolutely true
and they can't necessarily win them all as they did
last season. But again, I just know they're banking on
because they kept being in This is the the raginning
champs with the Eagles, they were right there in it.
They're going up against the Bills. I'm not the Bills
game one. Uh, they were right there in it. And
just Charger Chargers are Chargers, They're right there in it.

If Justin Hurry doesn't have that long scraunch. So I
think the Chiefs are saying, we're fine, we're missing guys,
We're fine, but they're gonna have to win those close games.

They said the atmosphere was incredible. It was incredible. It
was it felt bigger than the World Series game because
you know here in LA World Series game starts at

for that game, people were in their seats early, like
trying to get a glimpse of him in the bullpen
and all that. So tonight is gonna feel real special,

like hopefully he delivers. It's looking looking for the three
thousand francs in that game.

You remember that it was the last batter he faced.
But people are like, I've seen people ripping on all.
He should have retired years ago, and he's been injured
a lot and all that. He's he's a Dodger favorite,
and I give him credit. Some guys he wanted to

wore anybody else's uniform. Jeita could have played a couple

I mean? And Kershaw from this standpoint, people thought he's
gonna go to the Texas Rangers.

wear that uniform. And I'm not mad at him, and
I'm not mad at the Dodgers. He's the best picture
of our generations. I could say that there were the
ups and downs and the post and you know me,
I'm I don't saw soak anybody he was. He's the
best picture of our generation. Doubt and winning that championship

in twenty twenty solidified that. And if he doesn't have that,
then yes, you can leave the door open.

Dodgers saw him young, saw him grow up, just didn't

It's to me, you especially you mentioned Kobe got him young,
and they got to see the growing pains, the success,
the failures, and you feel like you have a party,
like he's a family member.

like that about him.

But the question I had for you guys is how
does the national non Dodger loving baseball fan view him.
Do they remember the failures because they're not watching a
no hitter game in the middle of July, They're watching
in October.

So do they remember the the failures more than they
do the great? No, they don't. They remember the great?

Yeah, I'm dead serious, tim Like you know, I worked
for MLB Network when they announced. You know, they have

show people. Yeah, because he's had an unbelievable career, and
