You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh yeah, it is
The Odd Couple. I'm Chris Bruce Art. That is my
partner Rob Parker, and as always, we're coming to you
live from the Guycode, Fox Sports Radio Studio. Fifteen minutes
could save you fifteen percent or more on car inshorts.
(00:46):
Visit guecode dot com for a free rate quote. You
can also follow robbing me on Twitter. He is at
Rob Parker FS one. I am at Chris Underscore Bruce Art,
and I have to give it up. I was all
over robbed on Friday for his just ridiculously insane and
(01:09):
incorrect talk about Baker Mayfield. But he had a good weekend.
He bounced back, and I have to get credit where
it's I know he wants to gloat, so I'm just
gonna turn it over to him so he can gloat
about how well he did prediction wise this weekend in
the NFL. Well, I'm not gloating, I'm loading on. I'm
(01:33):
not gloating, I'm loading remember that, but unbelievable loading your luckiest.
You're the luckiest of all time, Noah, the luckiest of
all time. Loss took a mother ll he sure did.
And uh yeah, we will talk about that Lion's Patriots prediction.
But Chris as usualist welcome in our odd couple crew,
(01:54):
Rob g our producer, Alex our engineer, and of course
our anchor, Depth Carson. We got a couple of interns
in them milling around, so we are in full effect.
And yes, and let me, let me, let me tell
the folks who we got. We got some people coming
up though, we got We got Jordan Howard, the Chicago
(02:15):
Bears Pro Bowl running back. He'll be joining us Rob
at four thirty four thirty Pacific time, seven thirty Eastern
for an interview, and then we're gonna have Albert Wilson
in the next hour. Miami Dolphins wide receiver really do
it all? Guy Um plays well, you know, can return kicks,
(02:35):
obviously a receiver, but on Sunday he showed off his
arm and through a fifty two yard touchdown pass in
that big victory the Dolphins had over the Raiders. So
we'll get to both of these guys with some great
interviews later. And with all that said, now the floor
is yours, mister Parker, Thank you very much. And you
know a lot of people they ripped on me. What
(02:56):
are you talking about? There's no way, no how the
Lions are gonna beat the Patriots. And Chris, remember, it
wasn't I wasn't looking for the spread or with points.
I just said that the Lions were gonna win this game.
I had zero confidence in the Patriots defense. I've been
telling people Tom Brady's not gonna be the same guy
(03:18):
he was from forty to forty one. We've seen it before,
It's been documented, and I wasn't surprised. The Lions were
a desperate team. They couldn't afford to go to three
and old. They got embarrassed in week one at home
by the Jets. Couldn't afford another embarrassing loss at home.
You got a new coach, Matthew Stafford had played terrible
(03:41):
the first two games, so there was a lot writing.
I was not completely shocked by what took place in fact,
not see. Can't you just admit that you swung for
the fences with your eyes closed and got lucky. I
don't roll like that. I don't roll like that. Man.
(04:04):
It was a very calculated pick. I don't do this
all the time. And Chris, later on in the program,
you'll find out about our football picks we made on Friday,
and that'll give you a little insight as to Rob Parker,
who's been covering the National Football leagues since nineteen eighty six.
You hear me since yeah, yeah, it raving about Sam
(04:28):
Darnald and the Shine Watson RG three early on. Too
slow down, brother. But but I will say this, if
you're a Patriots fan, Chris, you gotta be a little disappointed.
A lot of people have always thrown out this notion,
Oh the Patriots always start slow and this is no
big deal or whatever. No, this is different. This is different.
(04:52):
You know, first time since two thousand and two that
they won, uh, that they've have back to back losses
of double digits for since two thousand and two, Chris,
talking about sixteen years. You got a forty one year
old quarterback, you got some questionable receivers, and the defense
(05:13):
I don't even know how you can take a look
at that defense and think they got anything going on.
That team's gonna make a run in the playoffs the
way that they've played defense. So if you're a New
England Patriots fan and you watched that game last night
after the week before where they got dropped in Jacksonville,
don't be fooled by the score. They were never gonna
(05:34):
be win that game in Jacksonville. You look at the
last two weeks and even now week one, Chris, go
back to that and look at the Houston Texans. That
win doesn't look as impressive. They won twenty eight to twenty.
Houston's OZ and three, they're not even that good. Well, look,
this is definitely not the typical struggle in September that
(05:56):
you know, a lot of people want to say about
the Patriots. We last week and I said, hey, they
gave up forty two points to Kansas City, and the
opener last year they lost to Carolina and I think
it was week four. We're two and two, you know,
in September, and obviously they came back and made the
super Bowl. So that's where I was. But this is different.
(06:18):
There's no question about it. The defense is a troaches,
can't stop the run, can't stop the pass. Now last
year's defense was bad as well, but this looks even worse.
And then on the other side of the ball offensively
is where they're really struggling and where they're really different.
And the bottom line, Robbed is they don't have a
(06:40):
lot of talent. They do. Bucky Brooks, I think said
that's a four and twelve roster without Tom Brady, and
maybe at forty one years old, he can't make good
players out of less than average players like he's done
throughout his career in New England. And now these less
(07:00):
than average players really look at it. I mean, the
New England Patriots don't have a running back who has
one hundred yards this season. I don't mean in a
single game, I mean total. In fact, they don't even
have anybody who's at ninety yards. They're leading rusher is
Rex Birkhead, who you're right, right, You're not going to
(07:26):
win consistently in the National Football League when Rex Birkhead
is your leading Russian. I like Sony Michelle. I liked
him at Georgia. You know he's a rookie, though he's
got some learning to do and we'll see, you know
how he catches on, but they need talent. And then
on the receiving end, I mean, the teams are just
(07:46):
double team and Gronk taking him away, and then Brady
has nobody to throw to live door, said Chris Ogan.
They're not getting it done. And that's saying for years,
I don't know why they haven't done this to Gronk,
but not as good as him. I'm just saying, oh no,
not as good as him. They've taken him. Welcome you
(08:08):
had you, you had Julian Edelman. And remember right, here's
the hope for the Patriots fans, and not the only hope,
because look, I'm still not writing them off. I cannot
do it with what I've seen after three weeks. I'm
not going to write off the New England Patriots of
Bill Belichick and Tom Brady and but but I'm not
(08:30):
putting all my eggs in the basket of who's coming back.
But look, when Julian Edelman gets back after his four
game suspension, and Josh Gordon if he ever gets in there,
those two guys will help and this thing will change
to some degree for the Patriot I think to a
big degree to the point where there'll be a playoff
(08:52):
team and still have a shot at getting to the
super Bowl. This, this is the only thing I want
to give you. This is not your typical September swoon,
which a lot of people are trying to paint the
picture of that. You know, apologists, Patriots apologists, But they
need to get off of it, okay, because the last
five years in September, here are their records two and two,
(09:12):
three and one, four and oh, two and two, four
and oh, So there is no typical swoon as people
are trying to paint it. That's fifteen and five. In
the last five years in September, they've never been behind
in the wing column as they are now one and two,
which is the worst start since twenty twelve. This is
(09:33):
twenty eighteen, six years, so it doesn't happen all the time.
This is a bad look for where they are. And
if I'm a Patriots fan, I mean you could rest
on your loyals or loyals and think that that, oh yeah,
everything's gonna be good, and we always we always come
back and bounce back. Rome fell to Chris, great great
(09:56):
things eventually end. Everything doesn't go on forever. There's gonna
be a day. Yeah, it's gonna come. It's gonna come.
I want to throw something else out at you as
a possible reason that they're struggling now. As I said,
the defense being horrible, that's a fact. The offense not
having weapons, that's a fact. Here's something I just want
(10:19):
to throw out as a thought. I'm not saying it's definitive,
but it's something to watch. When I said in the
offseason that when Bill Belichick benched Malcolm Butler in the
Super Bowl, he may have lost some of his locker room.
And I don't mean they dislike him. Don't thinking can coach,
(10:40):
you know, none of I'm not saying all that because
he's got too much respect for that and he's had
too much success for that. But I believe we know
Bill Belichick has been hard nosed. We know that players
have left there and said they don't have any fun.
But the reason players could put up with it is
because they won, and they always felt like Belichick was
(11:05):
doing what was best for the team and doing what
it took to win. You might not like it, it
might get on your nerves. You might want more pats
on the back, but at the end of the day,
you know that Bill Belichick is doing whatever it takes
to win. And now I think a little bit of
doubt may have crept into the minds of some of
(11:27):
these players because he clearly didn't do that in the
Super Bowl. And I know, you know, we talked with
Ian O'Connor last week, who's written this book that's coming
out this week about Belichick, and it looks like it's
gonna be a terrific book. And Ian said, you know,
Butler just didn't have a good week of practice. He
was sick a little bit. Yeah, and I get all that,
and even't even admitted this part, But that doesn't I
(11:51):
get that in the first half or even if you
don't start him or whatever. But when you saw the
way Nick Foles was picking you apart, I don't understand
how you don't go back to Butler and second try
like the second that makes it seem like it was personal.
There was some other thing that nobody knows at this
point that was going on. And so I'm wondering if
(12:14):
in the minds of some of these players now there's
doubt as to whether or not Bill is all about
winning one hun and if sometimes you wonder does he
have other motives? Has he a voltaire motives? And that
that in world class sports, where the difference between great
(12:34):
and good or first and second is very slim, that
can make all the difference in the world. Our FS
one colleagues, Kip Bayless has said it on the air
that he thinks, uh Bill Belichick is trying to sabotage,
sabotage Tom Brady. That that's what this is, Chris straight
(12:54):
up sabotage because of some of the things that he's done. Obviously,
Brady had a chance to win a six Super Bowl,
which would have been you know, uh, you know, cemented
his legacy even more. And now you know with some
of the stuff and the players that are the weapons
he's that's what's And then the story comes out yesterday
(13:15):
and even Gronk acknowledged it after the game that indeed
he was traded to the Lions, he was gonna be
gone to the Lions, and he threatened them and said
he would retire before he would go to Detroit and
that Tom Brady's his quarterback and he ain't going anywhere
without Tom Brady in period. And that's another thing. If
(13:36):
if I imagine that if you knew I wanted to
get rid of you, even if we pass trying to
figure this out. All right, no, no, but I'm just right.
But you know what I'm saying, Right, if I was
scheming to get another partner instead of you, and I
wanted you out and all that, and we could come
(13:57):
back together, well less we will make up, and that
would always be in the back of your mind though
you know what we got might not have the same
passion and you do right now. In the NBA, that
was that was a storyline that was out there about
Kyrie and Lebron that he wanted to trade and get
Chris Paul. Remember the year app You're right, Chris Paul
(14:20):
after they won the championship and Kyrie of course had
the Big Three to seal Game seven and all that.
So if you're Kyrie, you're like, Wow, I just hope
you win a championship and everything, and now you're trying
to move me out for your best friend. Yeah, the
relationship beans right, Yeah, I mean something like that. Again,
(14:40):
you you're a professional, You're gonna perform, but it can
take a little of your zest and your zeal away
from you. And again, in a sport like the NFL,
that can be all the difference in the world between
a win and the loss. Well, Father Time certainly is undefeated,
and it looks like Tom Brady might be is next victim.
(15:01):
That's next, It's The Eye Couple Fox Sports Radio. I

Car shopping can be really confusing. You have terms like dealer,

(15:46):

car that you want. That way you can recognize what's
a good price and what's a bad price. When you're
ready to buy a new or used car, visit Truecar
to enjoy a more confident car buying experience. And the
Eye Couple, we're talking about Tom Brady and the new
(16:07):
England Patriots. Is this the end or the beginning of
the end, or one of those two things? Give us
a call at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven nine nine six six three six ninety
on the way in and Rob you you think, I
mean you you've called it before the season began, and
(16:28):
I think you called it even last season. This season
I called it. Don't say those are what the Patriots
fan now you even you say it every year, eventually
gonna be right. No, you've been saying this season was
like thirty seven. But now I looked at the numbers
and that was the thing that I did, Chris. I
compared the numbers. Him and Brett Farve have identical numbers
(16:51):
at age forty and then at forty one. Brett Farvar
if you remember they went to the NFC Championship game
when when he's with the Vikings, remembers he's a great year,
he had a great year, and then forty one he
fell off the cliff and we talk about it. I
know it's a cliche of other time never loses, but
it's so true. And Chris, now when you look at
Tom Brady, Tom Brady, these numbers are you ready. He's
(17:16):
throwing for two hundred and fifteen one five, two hundred
and fifteen yards a game through the first three. Quarterback
rating ninety three point nine, yards per temp five point
seven three yards per temp. You know what, his career
is two yards better than that, right, And yards per
(17:39):
game his career is two sixty one. He's at two fifteen,
so that's a big drop off. And quarterback and the
quarterback rating for his career ninety seven point five and
we're at ninety three point nine and yards per temper
is almost seven six point eight three and he's at
five seven three, So the numbers are really down. And
(18:00):
I'm just saying when I look at Tom Brady, I
just don't see the same guy. And yes he doesn't
have all the weapons and the same people to throw too.
But if I'm this is why Bill Belichick was trying
to get Jimmy Garoppolo ready right to take over, because
you would rather be Chris one year or two years
(18:23):
premature than a year or too late, do you know
what I mean? And making a switch, you don't want
to fall off right that that And I get it,
Tom Brady, we're all sensitive, and you know he didn't
like that at all. And look, he was great last year.
I mean at forty years old, he defied five other time.
We've never seen a forty year old quarterback play the
(18:45):
way he did last year. So I understand why you
know he feels good is TV twelve. You know, training
has really you know, had him great these last few years.
And I don't know, I'm not you know again, I
need to see more before I'm gonna right off Tom Brady.
I mean, what do you got to see? You say
it's only three games, Rob, I mean three. Aaron Rodgers
(19:07):
hasn't been tremendous this season, but we're talking about at
age forty. Aaron Rodgers is not age forty. I'm just
talking about Look at Tom Brady, did he look you
watch the game last night? Did you look the same
to you? He doesn't. But there are a lot of
other things you can point to. I mean, you said
you threw it up. You said it as a throwaway line.
(19:28):
I know he doesn't have anybody to throw to, any weapons,
but but that's a big thing. Now. What I what
I will give you is that he can no longer,
like I said in the first segment, make good players
or even great players out of mediocre or less than
average players. I'll give you that, But if you look
at his receiving corps outside of Gronk, and again, defenses
(19:51):
are taking Gronk away, they're double teaming him, they're focusing
in on him, and Brady has to go elsewhere, and
these other guys just are getting open. And again, they
got no running game whatsoever, no running game whatsoever. And
that's been a big part of what they've done too,
whether it was Lagarant, Blunt or somebody else, they've always
had competent running games, even though they haven't had that,
(20:16):
you know, sensational Hall of Fame back, they've had guys
that could keep a defense, honest, they don't have that now.
So now everybody's just sitting up there waiting for Brady to,
you know, throw to some of these mediocre receivers he has,
and they can't get open. So I'm just saying, of
all the things you can point to as to why
(20:37):
Brady and the Patriots are struggling, he is one of
the last things I would point to. I wouldn't. I
don't think it's last, And I give it. I'll give
you the defense, but maybe the other part is Brady
used to always uh you know, the defense was a
big part of the Patriots, and now not to have that,
you're relying more on Brady. They're not shutting down other teams.
(20:58):
It was fine the last couple of years, you know
what I mean, That's not happening right now. He may
not be able to carry you that way, do you
know what I mean? He has he has to do everything,
and I don't know if he's at that caliber. I
know he's not. I think this is the beginning of
the end of Tom Brady. And I know people are
gonna say, oh, yeah, ain't tom Brady? What did he do?
Did you sleep with your wife? Did he do this?
(21:19):
Did he beat your puppy? I mean I've heard everything. No,
I don't know Tom Brady like that. I've watched Tom Brady.
I've covered Tom Brady. I've been at games, I watched
him live all that other stuff. I've been a press
conferences with Tom Brady. I don't know Tom Brady. I
do know that right now the Patriots are in trouble.
I think that at the end of the year we
(21:40):
might look back at this win by the Lions and
go it wasn't nearly as impressive because the Patriots finished
seven and nine or eight and eight. I don't think
that it's out of the question that this team is
not very good. Tom Brady's not very good at this point.
The defense is not very good. Bill Belichick has not
coached well going back to the Super Bowl. That's the
(22:01):
point you made. They just haven't done what you need
to do to winning football. And now everybody can pooh
pool the AFC least, which it has been for years.
But you know what, the Dolphins come into Foxboro this week,
Chris three and oh, they got a chance to make
a minute. If they were able to beat this would
(22:21):
be a New England in New England, right and go
four and old when the Patriots are desperate. Yes, it
would be huge and might change the complexion of the division. Right. Well,
speaking of surprises and divisions, how about the NFC North.
The Packers aren't on top, the Vikings aren't on top.
(22:42):
It's the Chicago Bears and their Pro Bowl running back
Jordan Howard. He joins us next, but first let's get
to Dev Carson for the latest in sports. Dav how
you doing, Hello, Jen's Happy Monday to you. Yes, lots
of NFL and news for you. The forty nine Ers
announced Jimmy Garoppolo is done with the season with a
torn a cl and his left knee. CJ. Bethard is
(23:03):
expected to get the start Sunday at the Chargers Now
coach Kyle Shanahan just spoke to the media said Nick
Mullins is on the practice squad. He may be moved up,
but they're also going to work out some vets on Tuesday,
including t J Yates, Kellen Clements, and possibly Mad More.
More bad news for San Francisco, cornerback Richard Sherman is
out two to three weeks with a calf strain. The
(23:24):
Cardinals are replacing Sam Bradford. Rookie Josh Rosen will be
under center starting quarterback for Week four against the Seahawks.
The Browns of officially named Baker Mayfield as their starting quarterback,
and the New York Daily News says the Jets have
reached out to the Steelers about trading for running back
Levon Bell. Steelers still looking for their first one of
the season. Of course, there oh one and one, and
(23:44):
they take on Ryan Fitzpatrick and the two O Tampa
Bay Bucks. Online car shopping can be confusing, but not anymore.
With True Prize from Truecar Now you can know the
exact price you'll pay for your next car. Visit True
Car to enjoy a more confident car buying experience. Have
a handful of games with playoff implications. In Major League
Baseball YU League, Gerril's RBI single has just given the
(24:05):
Astros a one nothing lead at Toronto. They're in the
top of the second inning, Yankees and Rays our scoreless
spot for the first Tampa Bay. Of course, on fumes,
their elimination number is one red Sox and Orioles or
scoreless Spottom of the first Thank you, dev It is
the odd couple with Chris Bruce Art and Rob Parker,
and we're coming to you live from the Geico Fox
(24:26):
Sports Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent or
more on car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot
com or call eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The
only hard part figuring out which way is easier. And Rob,
as we wait for Jordan Howard of the Chicago Bears
(24:47):
to get him on the line, obviously, I look Detroit
beating New England was a huge surprise. But how about
what Buffalo did to Minnesota another? Oh my goodness. The
NFL look, I think more than any of the other
major sports, it is a year to year sport. You know,
(25:11):
the five year rebuilding plans, aren't that. That's not where
it's at anymore. Year to you? And I'm not saying,
you know, Minnesota's not gonna be any good this year,
or the Buffalo is gonna be greater, or Detroit's gonna
be great. But the great thing about the NFL is
every team and every fan base for the most part.
(25:33):
I mean, Cleveland has been the only team in the
last decade or so that really hasn't had a chance
to be pretty good. But every team can go into
the season thinking we can make the playoffs, and you
see teams go from worst to first or first to
last a lot in the NFL, No doubt about it
(25:53):
that there wasn't just a surprising win to be able
to go to Minnesota. You know, everybody that uncle probably
had them had that game as a parlay for the Vikings.
Am I right? And all lost? Uh? In the parlay
that was? That was a shocker, as was the Lions
for most people over the Patriots, well, we're gonna bring
(26:14):
in the running back for the Chicago Bears. Jordan Howard
made the Pro Bowl a couple of years ago as
a rookie. You can follow him on Twitter at Jay
Howard x twenty four Jay Howard x twenty four Jordan Howard,
Welcome to the Eye Couple. How you doing? We should
say the first place bears, right, That's right, that's right. Yeah,
(26:37):
you guys look great. Um And obviously, look, I know
every player is confident going into the season, but that division,
you had Aaron Rodgers coming back and a lot of people,
include myself, predict that he was gonna have an MVP
year and lead the Packers to great things. The Vikings obviously,
but you guys, I don't think a lot of people
(26:58):
were picking you to win the Vision. How confident was
your team coming in that you were as good or
better than some of those teams I mentioned, Oh, we're
pretty confident because lasting we played those teams a lot
of the first times we played them, a lot of games,
they were close. They barely beat us, like Detroit, they
beat us a blot field goal, Minnesota blot field goal.
(27:19):
So we knew it was people those teams and then, Uh,
just the new coaching stuff. Just about a lot more
excitement and stuff like that. So, um, he had us.
He definitely had us sucked up and confident. How about
yesterday's win over the Cardinals. They're not that, they're not
a good team. You struggled for a while with them
before you guys finally put it away and win. Do
(27:40):
you just look at that as you just win and
move on or do you say, man, we should have
maybe handled them a little bit better. Doesn't matter. I
might definite feel like I should have had them a
little bit better, but we got to win. So that's
that's all this is important? Really? Well, you you mentioned
Matt Nagy or you mentioned the new coaching staff. He's
(28:01):
known as an offensive guy. How has that change things
for you in the backfield in Chicago? Him coming in, Um,
just doing more stuff, catching passed out the backfield a
lot of different looks. Deff more spread out than it
was in the previous years. We had a lot of
new weapons. So it's definitely helping me out. What about
Mitch Rubisky, tell us about him? What don't we know?
(28:24):
Some people like him, some people don't. Uh? Is he
good enough to get you guys, where you're trying to go?
Is he get win the division and move on in
the playoffs. I definite feel like he's better. He's better
than good enough to get us what we need to be. Um,
he's still he's still like a young guy in terms
of football experience. So the morning he plays, the basis
gonna getting still a new offense. Um, they still trying
(28:46):
to get down so to see the goals on. He's
just gonna get more comfortable and we're just gonna play
even better. What does he do best? What? What if
you would say, like recognize his defenses? Uh, finds the
open and on the field. Uh what what? What does
what does he do that's maybe surprised you or you say, man,
this guy can do this. I feel like he recognized
(29:08):
defense pretty well. Uh that does this study happened and stuff?
He was first warning to the other last one. Now,
I know he's got a cliche, but it's really true
with Tillman. Uh, he just he just never composed. No
matter what happens to previ display or what happened, he
just always gonna come back ready to go. It's the
I couple with Chris Bruce Sard and Rod Parker on
(29:30):
Fox Sports Radio. We're joined by Jordan Howard of the
Chicago Bears and Jordan Khalil Mack. Him joining you right
before the season started. I mean everything you heard about
him out of Oakland was that he was a great
locker room guy, great character guy, and a real leader,
like a guy that would galvanize the whole locker room
and give confidence to his teammates, not to mention what
(29:54):
he does won the field. So when he joined you
guys before the season started, how much of a boost
did that give you, guys, not on the field, but
mentally and emotionally that this could be a special season
for you. I'm definitely gave it was a great boost because, uh,
as you can see what it does, I mean to see,
you know, a lot of people saw how great he was,
so I was like, Wow, we got this great player
(30:15):
come down the team. Man, he's gonna make us so
much better. And I could definitely, Uh, people are already good,
but he's taking up to another even better level. And um,
I feel like a lot of people feed off just
saying something so great. They want to go make plays
and they try to match his intensity. How about the
last night the Lions beat the Patriots and pretty soundly.
I don't think there was ever any doubt that they
(30:37):
were gonna win that game. When you look at the
Lions in your division and were you impressed by that
win last night, I'm definitely impressed because you know the
Patriots they are They are always a great team, good team. Man.
They never out of the game, so, um, there was
a there was a pretty good win for them. Um
and I'm sure the coaches man was happy to eight
on beat his old team. So there was a great
(30:58):
winner of the impressed Jordan. We've seen a lot of
guys and typically we think of quarterbacks in this regard,
whether it's RG three, Deshaun Watson last year in the
games he played before injury. You know guys that come
out right away and do really well and then maybe
the next season or a little bit later in their careers.
(31:20):
You know, it seems like people figure them out and
they struggle. Now, you you had a great rookie season,
as I mentioned, pro bowler over five yards to carry.
How do how do defenses adjust to players the more
film they get on them, Like tell us from a
player's perspective, did you come back your second year and
(31:40):
see guys defending you differently or knowing more, you know
what you like to do and things like that, and
did that make it harder on you? And you have
to adjust to it. I mean, I definitely feel like
last year, a lot of times the ball so a
lot of times they put its defend in the box.
Umb somebody would a count for us real bled uh
(32:02):
just to callus havoca. They were couldn't lot of in
the churches. So I feel like a defense cords they've
had like the whole off season to see what I
did well and what the team didn't win to try
to counter that. So I definitely feel like, um, you
definitely have to be prepared for defense. An throw at
you and you have to find ways around there. Well, Jordan,
(32:23):
we appreciate you joining us on the I couple. Man,
keep up the great Yes, continue success. Yeah, big game
coming up against the Buccaneers. Uh, that's gonna be a
that's gonna be a great game. A lot of people
might not have looked at that before the season started
as a big time game, but it's certainly gonna be now.
So just keep up the good work. Man. Appreciate you,
(32:44):
Thanks for having me all right, appreciate it all right.
Jordan Howard, do you what do you think? Rob you
you a believer in the Bears. Defensively yes, Rubisky, I'm
not sure yet, but defensively yes. And because your defense
is playing well, quit you all's gonna have a chance
to get in be in a game, you know what
I mean, to be able to win it. And that
was the case yesterday. Theydn't really didn't play that well,
(33:07):
but they were able to pull it out in the end.
So we'll have to see what the Bears. I'm not.
I still think the Vikings and Packers will probably win
that division. But I was just gonna throw the number
out again eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. If
you do want to chime in on Tom Bradio to
Patriots as well, or anything we've been talking about, please
join The Odd Couple. Well, we just talked with Jordan Howard.
(33:27):
We're gonna talk about another running back coming up. It's
leaveon Bell. Looks like he could be on the move.
We'll tell you where he may be heading. It's the
Ide Couple. Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob
Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on
(33:48):
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. It's the
ide Couple, Chris Brussard and Rob Parker. It is a
metal Monday. Every song coming in from the break will
be heavy metal. I gotta confess, I don't know who
this is, but it's heavy metal. I've heard this song
a number of thousands of times. Absolutely, um led Zeppelin.
(34:12):
I know it's fans. Is lad Zeppelin considered heavy metal?
Now that's hard rock rock? Yeah, it's hard rock, hard rock. Yeah,
I know led Zeppelin. All right, Hey, I like you know.
I'll telephone numbers eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox Chris,
we got a call. We want to get in and
then uh talk about where Levy on Bell could wind up.
Let's go to Matt in Oakland. You're on the odd
(34:35):
couple on Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Matt, Hey couple, Hey,
first time caller, fast becoming a fan here. Appreciate it.
You guys up off of understood it both to you.
Chris and you guys are great. I love how you
keep keep skipping checks there. Well, thank you, yeah, thank you. Hey,
(34:56):
So I like the topic about is it a surprise
that the Patriots showed up the way they did? And
to me, it didn't surprise me so much because there's
a lot of the Patriots on the other side of
that ball with Patricia and also the GM Quinn. Yeah,
(35:18):
and a lot of that, and Patricia he's got some
firstand knowledge about that team travels, and so I figured
it would be a good matchup, and they circled this
game before the season started and said let's get this
w And I'm glad that the Lion showed up because
I think that defense slowed down Tom Brady. And I
don't know that Tom's necessarily going to slow down the
(35:39):
rest of the year, but he certainly met his match
last night. And I think a lot of it had
to do with some of the nuances that Patricia had
known all those years that he practiced against him, and
it made me some inside of trading, I guess, is
what you'd call it. I'm not sure, but it didn't
surprise me one bit. And I think the Patriots will
bounce back just fine. Well, thanks Matt for the call,
(36:01):
appreciate it. It'll be Rob was with you until that
last Yeah, I'm not so sure. He was hanging on
every word you saying until that last until he said
for sure they're gonna bounce back only because of the
Dolphins A three and old have played well. So I'm
not so sure. But Chris Bell is currently do eleven
point eight million dollars for the season, right So, teams
(36:22):
that can absorb the salary to be able to sign
him right now, grab him right now? Or the Browns, Colts, Texans, Titans, Cowboys,
forty nine Ers, Jets, and Jaguars. Where would you top
three places you might see him going or could go. Well, look,
we can certainly rule out Dallas with Ezekiel Elliott. I
(36:45):
think the forty nine Ers even now, Jimmy Garoppolo's out.
I don't think I'm you know, going for Leivian Bell
right now. I fund them. The Jaguars obviously Leonard Fournette,
Who's who's gonna be back? Yeah, yeah, exactly the three
team that I think on that list, Uh could use
him most where I'd like to see him go. I'd
love to see him go to the Jets, and we
(37:06):
know reportedly they've already reached out to the Steelers about
making a move. The Jets, and they could they could
pay him to stay, you know. I mean that's you know,
the risk you take when you're signing a guy that
could become a free agent, is that you're not sure
you're gonna be able to keep him going forward. But
they would have the money, and Levian seems like the type.
(37:27):
I don't know him personally, but he seems like the
type that would actually, you know, welcome kind of the
the glamor market of New York. So, uh, that'd be great.
I think that'd be a great anchor for Sam Donald
and uh, the Jets have a pretty decent defense, so
I'd like to see him there. Secondly, I go with Cleveland.
(37:48):
Um I I Cleveland obviously just beat the Jets, and
uh with Baker Mayfield, you know, decent receiving corps. I
think he could go there and and with that defense,
you know, make them a special team that could could
begin to fight for some postseason play. And third, I
say Indianapolis Andrew Luck. We all know he's gonna throw
(38:12):
the bout there, twenty eighth in the league and rushing
their questions now about the strength of his arm when
they had Jacoby Brissette come in and there were no
questions when they take out your starting quarterback and get
somebody else to throw. The hell, Mary, I think that
told your fifty yard or two and it was like
he had to throw a seventy five yards. We saw
(38:33):
seventy yards and it runs about fifty fifty five yards.
Beat the Lions on one of those way through it
like sixty or seventy yards to win. And you're talking
about you're asking your starting quarterback can't throw fifty yards?
What does that tell you? Well, even if you look
at the zip or I should say the lack of
zip on some of his throws, it just didn't look
(38:54):
like it was there. You know. I hope that that
was just a bad game because I'm pulling Andrew Luck
even though he's kind of Galli all g you know,
you know, like the Goldmer pile of quarterbacks. But I'd
love to see him play well. But it didn't look good.
And I again, I think a lay beyond Bell could
(39:15):
loosen some of the pressure that's on him and help
that offense. So those are my three teams, New York Jets,
Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Coach. I'm with you on all three teams.
But my difference is I think the Colt should be
number one on the list because of the quarterback situation,
and I get the Jets and Browns there would be
two and three respectively for me. But the Colts Andrew
(39:39):
Luck needs somebody to help him, you know, to take
the pressure off of him, and I think a running
back of that caliber wood and probably open it up
a little bit more for him. So I think Colt
should be number one on the list and they should
be trying as hard as possible to make something happen.
The Jets and Browns just speaks for itself, and you're right, Chris,
(40:02):
they're both young quarterbacks. Again, the pressure would come off
those guys. They wouldn't have the bulk of everything trying
to make everything happen with a star running back to
go along with it, and it would open up their games.
So those to me are the three teams that I think,
But I would put Colts at the top of the
list because without them doing something or making a move,
(40:23):
I think Andrew Luck's gonna have a long season and
that team is gonna have a long way to go
and where That's kind of the story of Lux's career. Yeah,
I mean, he hasn't gotten to help, you know, in Indianapolis,
just hasn't brought him to help, whether it's the offensive
line or the skilled positions. They've they've refused to give
(40:45):
him the help that he needs to be successful. Now,
the question is does he even have the arm strength,
which was one of his big, you know assets. Does
he have it to carry a mediocre squad, which he's
done in the past years ago, But I don't know
that he can do it now. And imagine what Bell
would do though, for Baker Mayfield and or Sam Darneld.
(41:09):
I mean, you're not only talking about a guy that
keeps defenses on its because of his ability to run,
but you're talking about a legitimate receiver out of the backfield,
and so I mean, it would open up things so much.
I really think he's the type of player that would
take one of those teams to a completely different level.
(41:30):
I agree, and it was something that both of those
teams should look into. If I'm the Jets with all
the money they have that's free, I'm making this happen
to be better. And now you see the Patriots are down,
So I would I would do it. If you're in
the AFC East, Whether dolphins can speak into the AFC
East run it right now. They're wide receiver Albert Wilson
(41:51):
with us next the Odd Couple. It is the Odd
Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker. You can follow
us on Twitter. I'm at at Chris underscoring Bruce Hard.
You can find my partner at at Rob Parker FS

geycode dot com for a free rate quote. Rob. We
started off the show talking about the New England Patriots
and what could be uh their demise. You think they're done,
you think Tom Brady's done. I'm willing to be patient
and give them some time. But right now your theory
(42:38):
or your feeling that maybe, you know, two weeks ago
people thought was crazy. Right now it doesn't look too crazy,
not at all. It's just that, you know, we talk
about all the time, time takes a toll on people.
Tom Brady's not gonna be great forever. And uh, you
know what, the AFC East maybe opened up now, you
(43:02):
know what I mean? When you take a look and
you look at the Patriots. They've been doing it for
a long time, Chris, and nothing lasts forever. Rome fell,
I say it all the time, and people left Rome fell,
but it's true. Great empires have fallen. And at some
point the Yankees fell, yes, everybody, everybody. The Lakers fell, right,
Lakers have made the playoffs and what five five years? Right?
(43:24):
I mean, things happen. The Celtics went like twenty years
without winning a NBA championship. So before you start running
off these great empires, let's bring in Albert Wilson, who
maybe the Miami Dolphins are building something there three and
oh he's there wide receiver and had a tremendous game
(43:47):
this past weekend in their victory over the Oakland Raiders.
Caught a seventy four yard touchdown pass through a fifty
two yard touchdown pass um. You can find him more
on Twitter at I think I see one two. I
think I see one two. Albert Wilson. Welcome to the
Eye Couple. How you're doing I'm doing good, I'm good.
(44:10):
How thanks for having hey man? My first question, This
wasn't going to be my first question, but when I
saw your Twitter Twitter handle. I have to ask you
where did that come from? What is that? What's the
meaning behind that? It was just just something I came
up with when I was in Kansas City, M I
worred the number twelve, and you know, just starting, you know, undrafted,
(44:32):
you know, you know, getting a shot every now and then,
but you know, once you know, they kind of bring
the guy in, you know, it kind of fades away
and you know, just got to keep proving yourself every year.
So it kind of came came to that, and it
was just a pretty slogan, pretty cool slogan that I
said a couple of times, and it kind of caught
with the fan base, so I kind of ran with it. Nice.
(44:54):
You got T shirts on with that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay,
I'm a large and Chris is an extra small, just
so that you know, manoled all right, Hey, Albert, I know,
I know you're only worried about your team, and I'm
not trying to get you a ball worked up, but
it's hard. The Patriots, you know, run the AFCAS for
(45:17):
a long time. Uh did you watch the game last night?
What did you make it? What if you made up
their start? Just off the rip there one and two.
You guys are three and old and you got a
big game coming up. What do you What do you
make of the Patriots? Uh? Well, I actually didn't get
a chance to watch the game. Um, but it's the Patriots, man.
You know, you never can can count Brady out. Um,
(45:40):
you can never count the system out. You know they
they they play quality football, so um, you know you
never want to count them out. But you know we're
playing good ball over here. Um, we're having fun. Um,
we're bringing a lot of energy to the game on
game day, and um, we're bringing a lot of speed.
So you know on Sundays you don't have to match that,
(46:01):
and if you don't, you gotta luck. You mentioned quarterbacks
being counted out, and Ryan Tannehill your quarterback. He seems
like he's always counted out and he's just been off
to a great start. Seven touchdowns, only two interceptions, completing
seventy three percent of his passage. Do you see. I
know you weren't there last year, but what was your
(46:23):
view of him? You know when you went there and
just as a guy on another team, and now that
you're working with him, do you see is it a
lot different than what you thought going in. Um, you
know he didn't. He didn't, Um, you know, get to
play last season. But you know from the from the
times he from his last you know, from the times
he was on the field, you know, he played pretty well. Um.
(46:46):
You know I knew he was pretty consistent. I know
he was getting the ball you know, to the to
the people he needs to do. He makes the right throws,
you know, like hasn't been turning the ball over. And
that's that's what we asked for him. You know, we
have a lot of good guys around him, UM that
can make plays you know, down the field and with
a short short yardage. So you know, we continue to
(47:08):
help him out. You know he's gonna be He's gonna
be good. You guys have a lot of speed on
your team. What what what is this team based on? Uh?
Defense or offense? Or is it a combination? Because because
I'm just thinking about the point you're putting up. Is
this just an offensive team or can you stop people? Not? Definitely?
(47:29):
You know, Um, like last week, you know we went
to to New York and had a great start. You know,
we scored you know, twenty points real quick, right, and Um,
then then score not at one point, and you know
we pulled out the win. You know, the defense comes
up with turnovers. Um. I believe they're like ranked third
and turnovers right now. And then they're they're playing really
good ball, you know, um, and they're playing even better
(47:51):
ball in the red zone. So you know when when
they may continue to stop in the red zone, you know,
it definitely brings a lot of energy to the offense.
And you know, we're deaf piggybacking off each other. It's
the couple with Chris Brussar and and Rod Parker on
Fox Sports Radio, and we're joined by Albert Wilson of
the Miami Dolphins. And Albert, I did a little homework,
(48:12):
little research and saw that you were a quarterback in
high school. You actually threw for over a thousand yards
of senior year. So so this play on Sunday when
you threw the touchdown pass, did you did you beg
the coaching staff that, hey, I'm the receiver to throw
this ball, or did they know your background or you know,
how did it come about that you got to be
(48:33):
involved in that play? And how excited were you to
kind of go back to the days when you were
throwing the ball. Man, Um, you know it was. It
was very exciting to get the opportunity to throw a past.
It was actually my first one since I've been in
the league, so to have that chance it was pretty cool.
But um, yeah, they knew I played a little quarterback
(48:54):
back in back in high school. Um, they were on
point with it from from that I got here. But um,
it's just the way to turn up. They know I
was pretty good on the handoffs, on the reverses. They
knew that they was gonna suck in the defense once once,
Um I got the pitch. So it was just all
about coach Gais, you know, doing a great job of
game planning and using his weapon. So what's your quarterback rating?
(49:18):
Do you know? Did you look it up after that game?
It gotta be at least like one fifty or something
right up there. It's gotta be. It's gotta be way
up there. They gotta be up there. It's always uh.
I know. It had to be a lot of fun
because definitely, no matter what you do, when you get
a chance to do something that you normally don't do,
it just makes the game more fun, doesn't it. Definitely,
(49:43):
do you feel Albert, do you feel like this could
be a breakout year for you? Because I you know,
it seems like over the past few years, every now
and then people would predict Albert Wilson is gonna break out, y'all,
You're gonna you know, this guy's gonna come out of nowhere.
Do you feel like that's happened already or that this
could be the year for you to make that happen. Now,
(50:04):
I don't think it happened yet. You know, I've definitely
made you know, a couple of plays when when plays
need to be made. But um, it's all about opportunity,
you know, And I feel like I have a great
opportunity down here with the Dauphins. You know, Coach Kays
does a great job of game planning and moving around,
and I think, you know, I'm gonna capitalize off of
that very well. You were in Kansas City last year
(50:26):
and you saw Patrick. I mean you've seen what Patrick
Mahomes has been doing this year. I mean it's unbelid
with setting records and art. Did you know, like, what
did he look like last year in practice? Did you
and everybody else know, like, Yo, this dude is ridiculous?
I'm just saying his his his his only start last year,
and you know he he gave me ten catches for
(50:48):
like one hundred citty. You know, the kids a gunslinger
and he gets the ball to to anybody on the field,
and you know, he keeps the play alive, has an
amazing arm um. He's very confident and throwing the ball.
He think he can make every throw, you know, and
the people around him believe he can make every throw.
So you know, he continue to do that. I think
he's gonna be successful, not only this season but for
(51:11):
years to come. Well, Albert, great job and great job
to the season so far. I'm looking for you to
throw a few more passes. I know they're gonna have to,
you know, to take a few weeks before you can
throw another gay at this At this rate, you might
have more touchdowns than Tom Brady by week five. Hey,
(51:31):
with that quarterback raid and they gotta give me a shot.
There you go. We're gonna see all right, man, keep
up the good work. We'll be watching you guys. It's
upcoming game because this is a big one. Definitely appreciate it,
all right, Thank you. Eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox here's a telephone number if you want to try men.

in Bakersfield, California. You're on the odd couple on Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Adam? Hey? Thanks for having me. Hey,
you guys are the greatest. You got Jordan Howard calling in,
then you got Albert Wilson from my Miami Dolphins, and
(53:20):
then I get to be next her. Anyway, up, let's
see if your Dolphins can keep it up us right, Hey,
m hey me more than anybody's thought for him. I
just want to give a quick shout out to Albert
WI Wilson. To Casey's still listening, Welcome to the Dolphins.
Thank you for your expertise. Our offense is rolling, our
(53:43):
defense is rolling. Special teams. I mean, look out, we
got a shot. But that's not what I called about.
I was calling because earlier you were talking about leveyon Bell,
the potential trade, And what I'm thinking is the brown
screwed up not drafting said on Berkeley first. They Field
still would have been there in the third pick. They
(54:04):
got him anyway, they got a chance at Bell. How
sweet would it be for the uprising Cleveland Browns to
take him to the Dogtown and rub the Steelers nose
in it? No, it would be George. Thanks Adam, appreciate
the call in that division, right, it would be new
That's a question that a lot of people wonder, like
(54:26):
obviously these teams, I mean, Pittsburgh's clearly been a better team,
but they are rivals, and it's certainly in Cleveland's mind.
And would Pittsburgh send him to Cleveland or Rob? Another
team that doesn't have cap room and that wasn't on
our list of eight teams with the room was New England.
And some people think, you know, maybe they make a
(54:47):
few moves, cut somebody, they can try to make this
type of trade or send somebody back in the deal.
But would Pittsburgh's in Leveon Bell to the New England Patriots.
I don't think so. On the Cleveland Browns, I mean, right,
you wouldn't want to do that. You're gonna make them better.
You're gonna have to see this guy. You're gonna have
(55:09):
to see this guy twice a year for who knows
how long? Right, Yeah, well, look, let's move on, let's
stick with the NFL. But Rob, I've been beating this
drum for a while, and so if a lot of
other people, um, but we saw it for the third
straight weekend. Clay Matthews makes what looks like a great
(55:32):
sack of the quarterback and he's called for roughing the passer,
and Clay Matthews afterwards was just exasperated. He was good.
He didn't, you know, say anything that was fine worthy
he was She tried to be good, but I'm I'm
exasperated for the guy. I think it's unfair what's going on.
But here's what Clay had to say about it. Unfortunately,
(55:54):
this lead's going in the direction I think a lot
of people don't like, you know, I think they're getting
soft and hard about this league. Or is the fine
that they let me down on guys like me who
play the game harder. So I don't know. I mean,
I'm just gonna keep playing hard. You know, maybe now
pass rushers guys can have the quarterback. You just have
to attack the ball, which is you know, I'm playing
this game for over twenty years. That's how you tackle.
(56:16):
So we'll see. I mean, you know, something's gotta change,
because you know, at least not Yeah, Clay, you have
to change. You have to change, Clay, you have to change.
Supposed to do no, not put your weight down on him.
That's what he wasn't supposed to do. And this whole
ocean Chris, I'm not buying his sob story three weeks
(56:36):
in a row. It's unfair. This what he what he
just did on Sunday was clear violation of what they're
talking about, Clay change to not following the um don't
grab it. That's been changed, like what what is the
NFL lex pay? And we saw him in Miami William
Hayes trot he sat Derek Carr eyes to not put
(57:02):
land on him so he doesn't get penalized and tears
his ACL, tears his ACL. So you're you're actually I
you you're actually getting more other guys hurt because you're
trying to protect the quarterback and you're going above and
beyond and pass. What is what makes sense? We've seen
(57:24):
this league when quarterbacks aren't in it, the top quarterbacks
and most of the games are unwatchable. You gotta protect you,
you know, the guys who are holding the bag or
all the quarterbacks in this league. I saw it as
a kid when they did the in the grass move
right where you could just grab their jersey and not
even bring them down and they would say, Sack, I've
(57:46):
seen it. That's what they might have to do. Oh,
we might have to do. They might have to go
back to that. If you really want to protect the quarterback,
go back to that. You can do not pendalize guys
for text hucks. I'm about just about just touching them
trying to tackle you. That's what he's headed towards. Well.
But I mean Clay Matthews made a textbook. In fact,
(58:08):
I think all three not his textbook. It's it's violation,
not it's violation rule. No, it's via the new rule. Chris,
you're living in the past. You got to change the rule.
You gotta get out to change the Chris. Tackle the
guy without my weight landing or no you can't. That's
what you can. Yes you can. How easy you you can.
(58:29):
You can bring him to the side to bring him down.
I think it's gravity. I think it's gravity. I think
that's the law. I don't think I don't think the
NFL's law can outlaw the law of gravity. A lot
of you guys are, oh, you know, it's just this
and America's soft now and blah blah blah blah blah. No,
it's not about being soft. It's about putt, it's about help,
(58:53):
it's about it's about help him to keep people and
herfe in life. Yes, Al, it's just nothing. And here's
the thing, Rob, and I want, I want the NFL
to hear this. Football is a dangerous game and no
(59:15):
matter what you do, you can't stop guys from getting hurt.
We just saw with Jimmy Garoppolo. He didn't get hurt
by somebody landing on him with the force of their weight.
He didn't get hurt by somebody picking him up and
slamming him to the ground. He didn't get hurt by
somebody spearing him with their helmet into his helmet. He
(59:38):
got hurt making a move nine contact. It happens, It
ruins the season for the forty nine ers, but there's
nothing you can do about it. People are going to
get injured one way or the other. It's a dangerous game.
Guys know what they sign up for and you gotta
(01:00:00):
let him play. It's like having boxing and saying you
can only throw three punches at a time, and if
you throw board in three punches in the combination, it's
illegal because it might hurt the guy too badly. That's
the sport. It's a hurt business. No, but that doesn't
mean that you can't prevent or try to make it
as as safe as possible. And you and that damn
(01:00:23):
mister Softy stuff. You know, I'm right you, Chris. You're
remember this, don't you remember this? The mister Softy the
ice cream truck. Everybody in America you remember mister Softy. Hey,
Rob g Didy have mister Softy in LA. They never
mister sir, they did everybody. When you were a kid,
(01:00:45):
this was like I used to hypnotize you, right, Chris.
You would hear the trunk no matter what, no matter
you would stop everything. And you were like mister Softy.
You would run to try to get money from your
parents to get ice cream. But you know what, mister
Softy is good, Chris, and missus good? Is the NFL.
(01:01:06):
Now that's okay, I'm cool with it. Isn't okay? It
isn't okay, right, I mean this is I feel so
bad for defensive players. I mean, that's why we're raving
about these quarterbacks throwing for you know, three hundred and
fifty yards a game and breaking all the records and
all these tds completing seventy five percent of their passes
(01:01:29):
and sewing and so forth. Oh, they're so much better
than the guys of yesterday. You know, the guys of
yesteryear had to worry about getting their clock clean. The
guys of yesterday year had running backs who could be
hit five yards at the line of scrimmage. The guys
of yesteryear. We're playing football. This is not fair to
(01:01:51):
the defensive players. But you're acting like Aaron Rodgers didn't
get hurt, Andrew luck didn't get hurt. Tony Romo didn't
get her quarterbacks getting her boss. You don't get hurt sometime, Yeah,
but you gotta change matter what William Hayes I got
hurt too. Who cares about him? He was trying to
follow the rules, trying. I mean, come on, man, this
(01:02:14):
is hit us up at eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. If
you want to weigh in, you on Clay Matthew side
or you on Rob Parker side, what you wants to
make it flag football? I mean Rob, like I'm really serious,
Like they may have to say they may have to
(01:02:36):
go back to in the grass, or like if you
just I mean if you just touch a guy, touch
a quarterback, like if you touch him on grab his jersey,
that's enough. You don't have to Would you like to
see that? I would like to see the game safer.
I just would, And it's really gonna be so safe.
But but they don't let you just did see I'm
(01:02:57):
I'm with you on making it safer, but I'm on
making it safer within reason. It's like footboxing. Yeah, I'd
like to make boxing safer, but I don't want to
see him put headgear on these guys. I don't want
to see him, you know, go to to eight round fights.
I watched some college softball this year, and it was
(01:03:17):
shocking to me because I don't watch that often. But
every every player has a cage in a helmet, even
in the field. You know it's they're trying to be safe.
I didn't. I couldn't even imagine playing with that in
the in the field they have on the face guard
and everything. I was shocked, but I thought maybe the
picture because the ball could come back at you faster
(01:03:40):
than catcher. But every position they have him on and
on the field or when they come up to bat
and quich we got a slew of people ready to
get at you hit at me. I'm right, Well we'll
get to them. We'll get to them next. Um, look,
I want to you Rob. You know what, man, Car
(01:04:02):
shopping can be confusing. You got terms like dealer, price list,
price invoice. But Truecar shows you what other people pay
for the car that you want, so you can recognize
a good price that's really what you need. So when
you're ready to buy a new or used car, visit
Truecar to enjoy a more confident car buying experience. I'm
(01:04:23):
saying the NFL has made defense almost impossible to play,
and the quarterbacks are taking advantage. We're gonna hear from
you guys on the other side, but first let's go
to dav Carson for the latest in sports. Hey guys,
Monday Night Football Week three raps up tonight from the
Tampa Bay Area Buccaneers hosting the Steelers, Pittsburgh still looking
(01:04:45):
for its first win of the season. Both teams open
with a three and out. Pittsburgh was driving, but justin
Evans just picked off Ben Roethlisberger. So the Bucks with
the ball back now. Ryan Fitzpatrick at the Helm, of course,
Steelers and Bucks scoreless nine fifty five to go in
the first quarter. Browns have named Baker Mayfield is their
starting quarterback. The Cardinals have named Josh Rosen as their
(01:05:06):
starting quarterback for Week four against the Seahawks. Jimmy Garoppolo
is done for the season. The forty nine Ers announced
he does have a torn acl so they're gonna go
with CJ. Bethard Sunday at the Chargers coach Kyle Shanahan
says though the team is going to work out some
veteran quarterbacks on Tuesday. Online car shopping can be confusing,
but not anymore. With True Price from True Car, now
you can know the exact price you'll pay for your
(01:05:27):
next car. Visit True Car to enjoy a more confident
car buying experience. San Francisco Giants no longer have confidence
in Bobby Evans. He will step down from his GM
duties effective immediately. He will be reassigned. However, the Giants,
of course, long out of the playoff picture, some of
the teams still jockeying for position. The Astros with a
four two lead at Toronto bottom of the fourth inning.
(01:05:50):
Andrew McCutcheon with a homer for the Yankees, New York
leads the Raise one nothing bottom of the fourth. The
Cubs trail the Pirates two nothing Pittsburgh top of the
second at Rigley Field. Brew was in Cardinals scoreless bottom
of the first, and the Red Sox and Orioles are
scoreless top of the fourth, Indians and White Sox scoreless
top of the second. Of course, Boston and Cleveland have
already wrapped up their respective divisions. Gentlemen, Thank you dev
(01:06:13):
as always, and it is the ID Couple with Chris
brus Sard and Rob Parker. We're coming to you live
from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's easy to
say fifteen percent or more on your car insurance with Geico.
Go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred nine
four seven Auto. The only hard part figuring out which
way is easier. And Rob, I can't wait to get
(01:06:36):
to these calls. I gotta think if we have some
football fans and some guys that may have played the
game at a younger age, they gotta be siding with me.
We're going to keep a tally on this. I want
to really see where we go. Numbers wise, all right,
age seven seven ninety nine on Fox. If you want
to join the odd couple. Let's start out with Chris.
Will start out with Johnny in Vegas. You're on the
(01:06:58):
odd couple on Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Johnny? Hey,
what's up? Guys calling them from Vegas? Thanks for taking
my car. Just wanted to let you know, Chris, you're wrong, man.
It's all about players safety. Oh sorry, Clay Matthews. I'm sorry.
That was It was a good, clean hit two years ago,
but not anymore by the rules. What can you do.
I'm just wondering. I'm just I'm for safety, but I'm
(01:07:21):
for it within reasons. You can him. You can bring
him down without putting your weight on the strip sack.
You's got a strip sack every time. That's all you
can do. To go for the ball sack. You gotta
go for the ball every time. Absolutely, thank You can't
try to not put your weight on him, because William
(01:07:42):
Hayes did that from Miami and we saw it cost
him his season touring ACL no doubt about it. There
we go one for Rob zero for Chris. I love that.
I know that, I know you text somebody in Vegas. No,
I did not think that. He always says, I'm texting somebody,
all right, cousin Johnny, appreciate the call. I mean, I'm sorry,
what did I say? Jerry in Florida? Are you on
the odd? Couple of Fox Sports Radio was up? Jerry, Hey,
(01:08:04):
thanks doing listening to you. I'm telling you, it's like
getting your car fixed and then two weeks later something
else breaks. Then you fix that, and then something else breaks.
They finally worked on the catch rule because last year
it was got awful and now it's the tackling. It's
like one extreme to another extreme. And what really upsets
(01:08:27):
me is and I don't watch the NFL like I
used to because it's like the government overregulated, over ruled,
and from one extreme to another, from one year to
the next. I think Clay matthews hit was perfect. I
agree with you with the gravity, and I think in
the next game he should pick up the quarterback lay
(01:08:47):
him on the ground gently, just to prove a point.
It's gotten just off the charts ridiculous. All right, So
there you go, one wondering. I think that's a great
call and appreciate the call. He brought up the catch. Yeah,
it got to the point where nobody could even determine
what was a catch, like we were overthinking this and
(01:09:08):
now it's the same thing with the tackle. It's like, oh,
did you see him lift up slightly? You know, and
that's why he was penalized. Oh he landed right on it.
Where is he supposed to land? I mean, my goodness,
it's this stuff. Is the Calle is right. It's overregulated
and we have to accept that football is what it is.
(01:09:29):
We accept that boxing is what it is. M A
is what is. If somebody gets a bloody nose in MMA,
are we Oh no, he got a bloody nose. Oh
my goodness. No, if you don't want to risk that,
then don't fight. And I'm saying if you don't want
to risk getting injured, I mean had robed. Aaron Rodgers
and Troy Aikman, two of the greatest quarterbacks of all time,
(01:09:51):
have said they've gone too far. I hear you, But
they're in it, and they're in it and they can't
because of what Troy Aikman went through with all those
concussions and what he went through. So I get it,
that's what he used to but things change, and at
some point the NFL is doing the right thing. Maybe
it's not till you're liking right away. But eventually players
(01:10:13):
will readjust and understand what it is they need to do.
All right, Tim and Texas, you're on the odd couple
on Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Tim, Hey Boddy? How
are you guys doing it? Loving it? Loving it? I'll
tell you what, man, It is called tackle football, correct,
thank you? All right? It is called tackle football, tacking off.
(01:10:33):
That's why you draft lineman. Are suppo puspect these guys? Okay, yeah,
they can't protecting me. You get to him, and that's
your job. Knock them down. That's what the point of
the game is. Oh yeah, right. And and you also
in the college. Sounds like he knows something about football.
Why because he's on your side. I'm not No, I'm
(01:10:53):
not saying you want to injure anybody. But when you're
a defensive player, you want to put a good stick
on somebody. That's part of the game. You want to
hit somebody's hard. You got bad intentions, and they're trying
to take the bad intentions out. Again. I go to boxing,
it's like trying to take out the knockout punches. No,
(01:11:16):
that's what I want to do. I want to knock
him out. I don't want him to, you know, be
injured permanently. I want him to get up afterwards, but
I want to knock him out for about ten seconds.
I got us in football. We got to accept it.
That's these dudes mentality, and that's what it should be.
Got play soccer. If you don't want contact, Look at you.
You get easy for you to say, you got two daughters.
(01:11:36):
Nobody's playing football on your family. If I had a son,
he would have been playing sick. People like you would
be on the sideline going, don't hurt my boy. What
did you do? You dirty football player? That's right? Or
or you give oh, now you don't want to go
to callers, We're gonna call and it's about to get worse.
(01:11:58):
I'm sure he would put the You would put the
baseball in your son's head and try to get them
to play baseball because you wouldn't want him to get hurt.
It'd be different. You know your daughters don't play all right,
Dwight and Oklahoma, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Dwight? Hey, how y'all doing? Man?
What's up? Man? I'm gonna have to agree with Chris.
Oh look at you. You know it's some men that
(01:12:22):
listen to them. Is that what it is? Hey, that's
all it is about. Man. When the players are gonna
end up injured because they're going to second guests themselves.
How should I hit this guy? I'm going full speed
and now I got a readjust to hit the quarterback.
I might pull a handstream, I might like an ankle.
(01:12:44):
Trump slow down to get this guy. Hey, Dwight, Dwight,
hold on this side, Dwight, Dwight and Chris hold on.
So tell me when you're going full speed to go
block a punter, right, you're going after you pull up
and you don't run into him. Dude, don't you you understand?
(01:13:05):
You alter it. You're going full speed out but hang on.
But you're jumping straight up to block the punt. Now,
and if I correct me up from brom they got
on helmet, they got on shoulder pads, protection, the rib pads,
rib cage. Oh the quarter you're talking about the quarterback? Yeah,
(01:13:29):
all right, thanks for the call, Dwight. I don't know
a great call. Three one. It's a man I like it.
We got we got a couple more before we get there.
You ain't win yet. Well, speaking of winning, Pittsburgh just
tied it up against Well they will assuming they get
the extra point. Um. Wow, long touchdown Roethlisberger. I don't
(01:13:54):
know who was the player it was it tight? Who
was that that just absolutely ran over a defensive back
for Tampa Bay. But that part of the thing, it
was Vince McDonald. Vince McDonald down with a seventy five
yard touchdown. Run, yes, and the extra point and then
just my goodness, I don't even say run because I
(01:14:16):
gonna want to be CONTI I say run because he
caught the ball like seven yards and then and then
stepped on the d. Conti's thinking, can I hit him?
Can I really tackle him? Can I, you know, use
my helmet? That is that a personal file? Pants to
the face? No? No, not for the runner? Yeah too.
(01:14:37):
I mean, but let let that was a great call.
And I think the calls where I was watching cart
they didn't get it. Did he did? He go to
berg Steelers defensive back and he actually said on TV
today he said that when when they put in the
new targeting rule, you know where you could hit you
couldn't you know, hit helmet to helmet and you couldn't
(01:15:00):
hit uh, you had to hit him in certain areas.
He said he got more concussions because he started trying
to hit guys low and he's getting more knees to
the head you know. Um yeah, yeah, you're getting hit
on the side of the neck because you're trying to
move your head out of the way. He said he
suffered more concussions that way than playing the old way.
(01:15:22):
And so the call is right. I think if you
got these defenders thinking too much, they're gonna be hesitant,
and in a game like football, that can cost you.
No I hear all that. You just have to adjust.
It takes time. Let's squeeze him one more. David in
Vegas another guy in Vegas during the Odd Couple on
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, David Rob I'm a long
(01:15:42):
time big Fanniers and Chris Up I'm a I'm a
forty Niner fan. So it wasn't a great day yesterday.
Noting it as much as I'm ill. I gotta take
Chrissis side, David ruining. They're ruining the lake, brother, You're
ruining the league's football. You know what I'm saying. I
mean this Splorida. If you don't want to sign up
(01:16:03):
for a go play basketball, go play baseball, right. I
mean as far as for the fan, I mean it
is sister, they hit us. I mean I'm not a
I'm a kind of guy who likes one team and
hates soldiers. I could care less about Clay Matthews. What
he did yesterday was perfectly honest, you know and fair.
Many years you know before, when I was a kid
(01:16:23):
going up, the best uh for man rush was the
Parrison Forson was the Rams. David Deacon Jones, Maron Holson,
Lamar Lamney and Rue Rosie Greer and David Deacon Jones
would have been penalized every play right. He was hitting
guys upside the head, which I'm you know, that's finding
(01:16:43):
out rude, that I'm outlawed, that I'm glad about. I'm
gonna say this to you right like, I'm just sorry robbed.
There's not That was a textbook tack. I want you
real quick, the next time you get a chance to
watch the Lawrence Taylor and what is it called U
a football life watched and they're showing all his greatest
(01:17:03):
sacks and none of them does he wind up on
top of He just pulls the quarterback down. He doesn't
wind up. Every great sack I've seen so far, and
this guy revolutionized the game. He doesn't wind up on
top of the quarterback. He grabs him and throws him down.
He reaches with his arm. Not one have they shown
(01:17:25):
where he is on top of a quarterback and there's
nothing but sacks. That's fine, but that maybe is the
angle he's coming in at. You know, I mean, I
don't know. I'm sure he had hits that would have
been deemed. All of his sacks are about grabbing and
bringing people down. All right, you had to pull the
Lawrence Taylor card for one. I give you. You thought
(01:17:49):
you had to win everything after this weekend, but we
had to bring you back to earth. But Rob, we
all would like to fix our golf game. But thankfully,
if you can't fix your golf game, you can at
least fix your check engine light. At auto Zone. The
free Auto Zone Fixed Finder tool will find the likely
issue and save you money down the road. Get in
(01:18:09):
the zone. Auto Zone. Coming up next, it's the hottest
radio show in the country. Sources say it's the Eye Couple.

of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker

got some great news. There's a quick way you could
save money. Switch to Geico. Go to Geico dot com
and in fifteen minutes you could say fifteen percent or
more on car insurance. It's time for sources say check
check check. Sources say these two have been covering sports
(01:18:51):
for nearly three decades, apiece. I will say this. Let's
put the big Jay journalists to the test. It's sources
say yes, sir, sources say America's favorite radio game show,
Rob Parker, Chris Brussar got a thousand years of journalism experience.
You know, I'm still breaking stories in these days. I'm
(01:19:12):
still breaking stories, but sometimes they can't tell the difference
between what's real and what's fake in the world of sports.
So Rob Parker, I want to get this out of
the way real quick. Though. You had five and oh
and your picks against the spray this. Did you hear that,
Chris Brussar, It's early five and oh I could have
had play golfens or three and oh we'll see how
that five. And oh, well, because of that, Rob, you're
(01:19:34):
gonna get the first crack at the first story here
on sources say, because my sources tell me that Adam
Levine and Maroon five they'll be performing at the super
Bowl at halftime, they'll be releasing a song on their
upcoming album dedicated to Colin Kaepernick. My source is good.
I just can't believe the league is gonna sign off
on that. With the Colin Kaepernick. I know I'm gonna
(01:19:57):
be wrong, but I say, no, that's not correct, That's
that's not true. I'm going to say that is true.
You sit on a throne of line. Yeah. I'm six
to no, keep it rolling, baby, I'm six and old,
all right. Actually, Meek Mill has a Colin Kaepernick song
and I'm in room five yet not yet, it's coming
(01:20:19):
out of the new album. My sources say that a
Yankees beat writer broke his arm while pitching during an
annual baseball game between members of the New York and
Boston media. Chris, and my source is good. I'm gonna
say true. Are you ready? I used to play in
those games. And it was writers against the Yankee coaches.
(01:20:43):
I played at Yankee Stadium, so I know those games
go on. Was it Bob clappitch who got hurt? Or
you don't know the name. No, I would say that
that's true. Oh it was not, though do you know
who it was. I'll get it for you. I have here,
just give me. But I'm not. I'm not. I can
believe this. Is it baseball or softball? No, it's baseball.
(01:21:05):
It's fast pitch base He broke his arm trying to pitch. Wow,
trying to pitch. Yeah, you got that torque? Got that torque?
Sources say Fox Sports Ray of the Odd Couple, Christmas Sorry.
Rob Parker, My sources say that former NBA player Antoine
Walker admitiate earlier this week that he used to smoke
weed after every shoot around during his NBA career. Rob Parker,
(01:21:26):
my source is good, lay off the weed. I say
that that is true. Uh, the NBA weed, Uh is
commonly used in the NBA. I'd say, yes, I do
think that's true, But Chris only knows it from the
wider standpoint. Right right, I'm gonna try to get a win, though,
(01:21:49):
I gotta break this. I need, I need to score,
So I'm gonna say false. Say right, So who was
it was Barnes? It was Matt Barnes. Okay, Barnes, the
every day former Laker. That's that's not shocking to me.
He won the championship too, didn't he? All right? My
sources say that during his media day press conference, Nick
(01:22:11):
Center and his cancer admitted that the thought of making
the playoffs quote makes my nipples hard. Chris, and my
source is good. I think that is true. And this
is that type of guy. I could see him saying that,
Oh jeez, oh god, do we have to really go there?
(01:22:31):
All right? Yeah, I think I'm gonna go with true.
Oh see, he always trying to play for the time.
How about trying to play for time? Sources say the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. My sources say the
University of Colorado had to pay five hundred bucks and
damages after their mascot shot a fan in the face
with a T shirt cannon and broke his nose. Robin,
(01:22:52):
my source is good, that's true. Yes, the way he
said it, I think it's true. No, what don't say that, Chris?
Maybe it's fall He said it with authority Is it true?
Oh true, so it was a tie. I'm still on
the winning streak. That's all I care about. I couple. Yes,
(01:23:14):
we can share a studio and have fun and entertain you.
It's the odd couple with Chris brus Art and Rob Parker.
You can follow us on Twitter. I am at at
Chris Underscore, Bruce Art, my partners at at Rob Parker
FS one and we're coming to you live as always
from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. Fifteen minutes could
(01:23:36):
save you fifteen percent or more on your car inshorts.
Visit Geico dot com for a free rate quote. And Rob,
I know you're feeling good after this weekend. You went
five and oh and your predictions, and of course you
you were one of maybe a handful of people on
earth to pick Detroit over at New England. I don't
(01:23:59):
even know if it was to full, I would say,
I don't know anybody else, and I'm not just trying
to brabe Chris, but I don't know anybody else who
picked the Lions. I'm sure there were a couple of
Lion homers, but I mean outside of Lions fans, I
know there were no NFL analysts who picked the Lions
to win this game. No, I mean I thought you
(01:24:19):
were crazy when you fade that pick, and you were
proved right. But that doesn't mean you're right on your
prediction that the New England Patriots are done. You sound
last week you were saying they won't contend for the
Super Bowl. You sound now like you think they won't
make the playoffs. You know what, they're trending to be
(01:24:42):
seven and nine and not making the playoffs. The last
time the Patriots lost back to back games by double
digits two thousand and two, they didn't make the playoffs.
So I don't know if that's a track record history
or whatever you want to call it, Chris, but it's
not a good look. Tom Brady doesn't look like himself.
(01:25:04):
The defense is got awful. They are in trouble. Dolphins
are three and off. The Dolphins come to Foxborough this
Sunday and beat the Patriots and put them in a
bigger hole. It just seems like Buffalo's got better. They
look terrible and now they got better. The Jets have
fallen backwards. But but right, Jets all right, But they're
(01:25:28):
all right, They're all right. Jets play the Jets played
in New England tough last year. And this is what
I'm saying is that there's a chance they don't have
the cakewalk that they normally have in the AFC, least
I used to call it. But some of these teams
are better. And if you're a Patriots fan, there's no
way you feel good about it. The Lions were scuffling.
The Lions had played two awful games. They got their
(01:25:50):
butts kicked at home and the opener on Monday Night
football national audience against the Jets and a rookie quarterback,
and then they lost in San Francisco wasn't a pretty picture.
And for them to come back and beat Brady and
the Patriots after they had the bad loss against Jacksonville's
a bad side and Rode fell, the Patriots can fall.
(01:26:13):
I think Tom Brady's on the ends. Haven't made the
playoffs in five years. This is what's going on in
this world. I'm just keeping always havn't been the same
since Jordan. It happens. Look, here's what I see a
few things wrong with the Patriots. I'm not ready to
write him off like you. We don't have n time.
The defense is atrocious and it was atrocious last year,
(01:26:36):
but they don't have the offensive firepower right now to
overcome it, which leads to the second point. Tom Brady,
is it him or is it the fact that he
doesn't have any weapons? He's starting to Chris Hogan, Philip
Dorse set. For goodness sake, they don't have a running
back that has a hundred total yards this season three games.
I mean, they're double defenses are double team in Gronk
(01:26:59):
taking him away from Brady, and he's got no one
else to throw too. And the running game is a joke,
so you don't have to be honest with that. So
now they can just zero in on shutting down Brady
and that's what's happening. So when he gets Julian Edelman
back after the suspension in a couple of weeks, and
then Josh Gordon hopefully comes back, I think that could
(01:27:21):
change things for the Patriots. And finally, I will throw
this out as a possibility. Did the fact that Bill
Belichick bench Malcolm Butler and kept him on the bench
even when it was evident they needed help in that
defensive backfield, did that put some doubt into Patriots player's
mind that Bill is always right? And always does what's
(01:27:46):
necessary to win, because if it puts a little doubt
in there and now the players think, yeah, he might
have some multerior motives and winning is it always absolutely
number one in his mind? Now in a world class sport.
Think about it. In track and field, the difference between
a gold medal and finishing out of the running in
(01:28:09):
fourth place is like two tenths three tenths of a second.
And so that's how slight the difference is when you're
talking about these world class athletes. So if the Patriots
players are going out there with some doubt about Belichick
and they don't quite have the faith that they used to,
I'm not saying that's the case. I'm just throwing it
(01:28:31):
out there as a possibility because remember we saw it
happen with Pete Carroll. That's when the demise of the
Legion of Boom began, when he ranting through that pass
on the gold line in the Super Bowl and lost
it for the Seahawks. That's when Richard Sherman and the
rest of them began doubting him, losing faith in him,
(01:28:52):
and they never were the same. I'm just throwing that
out there as a possibility. For the New England Patriots. So,
like Skip Bayless's sabotage, he's trying to I don't think
he's purposely. I don't think Belichick, who I do think
is the best coach ever in NFL history, don't forget
this sabotaging, sabotaging the Patriots. The Steelers just scored a touchdown.
(01:29:16):
They're up now, they're looking a lot, very much rejuvenated.
Fifteen seven, they're up on Tampa Bay. But it was
Antonio Brown too on the twenty seven yard touchdown reception. UM.
But I'm just saying I think that may have that
may have ruined or not ruined, but certainly cast a
little bit of doubt in some of the players' minds
(01:29:39):
as to what Belichick's about. So we'll see how it
plays out. I still have faith in them, uh to
at least make this season interesting, But you're writing them off.
I am at this point. I just think that history
shows us what happens to a quarterback from age forty
to forty one or when they get to this age,
and the defense just has been so terrible, so terrible
(01:30:02):
for so long that it I just don't I just
don't think that it's good enough to win anything big.
And that's the problem is that the defense. And that's
why I thought they wouldn't beat the Lions. I saw
what happened in uh Jacksonville. They got issues on defense
and had Jacksonville. You you had jackson If you had Jacksonville.
(01:30:23):
I can't wait till we get to your your top
five again. This what Parker's picks. I know you had
Jacksonville and Minnesota atop your rankings. Well, Jacksonville, I'm just
knocking you off your high horse. Don't even lost by three.
You you you're Rob Lombardi or something like. There you go.
(01:30:44):
But Rob. Speaking of defense, I'm telling you, man, the
NFL they need it. I see these guys, these officials
and executives with the league saying that Clay Matthews tackles
sacks of these quarterbacks that have been called for roughing
the passer, that they're they're legitimate calls, that that's there
(01:31:08):
the rule, According to the rule, those are the right
cause where you know what, change the rule? Change the rule.
It's a bad rule, it's a horrible rule. This is football.
If you want touch football, if you want flag football,
then so be it. And you can kiss your fourteen
billion dollars goodbye. But stick with what got you there?
(01:31:30):
What got you the fourteen billion? Huh? It was tackle football.
It was hard hits. It was occasionally unfortunately, somebody's gonna
get injured. But it's football. In boxing, you get injured,
and then may you get injured. Heck, you get injured
in basketball and all these other nine contact words. What
can you do? I mean, pitchers get injured. Should we
(01:31:53):
put them on a fifty pitch pitch count? Now it happens,
it's a part of the game. I'm sick of it.
I'm tired of it, and I'm not even Clay Matthews.
I feel for Clay Matthews and I feel for these
defensive players because I'm all for making the rules, you know,
the game as safe as possible, but you have to
(01:32:13):
do it within reasons, and tackles being called for fifteen
yard penalties that are impacting games is not within reason.
How can I hit you head on, tackle you bring
you to the ground and not land on you. I mean,
that's just not rational, that's not logical. I just told you, Chris,
(01:32:37):
I'm watching there's the there's the footballs coming in from
the side, he's reaching around, he's doing everything. Yes, all that,
and I'll bet you to clean hits man. You're sticking people.
All I'm saying is you're not supposed to land on
the person. Everybody. Everything changes, This changes that happen in life,
(01:32:58):
and you have to be ready to make a change.
I get it that players aren't gonna be able to
make that change right away, and it's gonna be penalties.
Change comes. That's what happened to you. Straight on, and
I could land on you. I could. I could tackle
you straight on, and and when I'm ready to bring
you down, I could go to the side and just
put you, push you down on your base. Wait, why
(01:33:20):
should I, as a defensive end or a nose guard
or whatever, be worried about Let let me just gently
put him down. Because these are the new rules that
you have to learn to play under. That's gonna have
to change because they're gonna start losing fans. The game
is safer. Stop stopping Chris. The first forty five years
(01:33:40):
of my life, I never even thought about I never
had any doubt as to what was a catch. All
the time I played football in the backyard on the
street in organized football. A catch was obvious, and here
comes the NFL, and now myself and beyond better people
(01:34:01):
than me Hall of Fame receivers are wondering what. I'm
not really sure what the catch is. And now is
the same thing with tackling. What is a clean tackle?
I have no idea I do. I get it, I
get it. You don't know eithern Yes that don't put
your weight when you throw, slam the drive the quarterback
(01:34:22):
into the ground. It's very simple. All right, Hey, let's
let's get to the phones. I'm up for one already
on this topic. All right, lett, I know we got
other people that went to weigh at eight seven seven
ninety nine or Fox eight seven seven ninety nine or Fox.
Give us your thoughts. All right, Kevin and North Carolina,
you're on the odd couple on Fox Sports Radio. What's up, keV? Hey, guys, Chris,
(01:34:43):
you'm a man, I'm an NBA guy, but I grew
with Rob. Yeah. I'll tell you what, Chris, I'm not
sure exactly how old you are. You may not remember
that this guy, but Burt Jones is my favorite quarterback. YEP.
I never about I think about what kind of career
and mean, Belichick has even lauded him if if he
(01:35:04):
hadn't gotten beaten up, uh, shoulder separations and all that.
I think if these rules were applicable back then the
guy would not only be in the College Football Hall
of Fame, he maybe would have been in the NFL
Hall of Fame Pro Football Hall of Fame. And I'll
take it off the edge, but hold on, that's not that.
(01:35:24):
That's not because football, like I mean, I can point
to NBA players, baseball players. I had Steven Strasburg. If
he can stay healthy, he'd be a heck of a picture.
You'd be a Hall of Famer. Robert been one of
the greatest ever. I mean, it happens. Injuries are gonna
happen in regardless of the sport, and in the NFL
(01:35:47):
it is more physical. Look Robed Troy Aikman, Aaron Rodgers,
and even Alex Smith are saying that the NFL has
gone too far. Do we have some sound on Alex Smith?
I believe we do. Yeah, it's tough. I'm glad I
don't play defense. Talk about strike zone a lot of
times with the quarterback, and these guys kind of needs
(01:36:07):
the shoulders right, the canvas in the head and canvas
and the knees when we're in the pocket. It's tough.
I felt like he's playing football. He's played a long time.
He hit me right in the strike zone. You know.
That's the new rule they put in though, with the finishing,
these guys finishing off quarterbacks to the ground, what are
you saying? Hudos who the rule that they put in
though he acknowledged, he admitted that it's ridiculous, but he
acknowledged that the rules that they put in. He violated
(01:36:30):
the rule that they put in. Chris, that's bad. I'm
saying change the rule. I mean, I mean, I guess
it's hard for me to tell what the rule is.
But if that's it, then change the rule. Byron. I
saw Tony Dungee say it. Change the rule Byron and
Oklahoma you're on the odd couple on Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Byron? How you doing, guys? Chris? I have
(01:36:52):
to say I agree with you. What I will. I
will say, how many over the last five years, how
many quarterbacks have gotten injured by someone landing on him?
I would say not as many acls. Also, is there
a weight limit? What if one of these cornerbacks from
Tampa Bay At at one hundred and ninety five pounds
(01:37:13):
comes and lands on being Roethlisburg. No, it doesn't matter.
You can't put your weight on him. And Byron, how
many daughters you got? Five? You must have five daughters, right?
I have three? And no boys? Correct? I have one boy? Okay,
all right, I'm wrong. I thought you were like Chris,
does he I play a football? So I would let
(01:37:33):
my son play football? Your son play football? Byron? All right,
he's gone, is he? All right? There we go? We
lost him. Yeah, he's gone. All right. I just would
time anyway. You're just gonna hand to our break. Look,
we got something special coming up. Hank Haney, Tiger Woods
former swing coach is here. Is gonna join the Eye Couple.
(01:37:53):
I can't wait to talk to him about to him
about Tiger's big resurgence. That's next on the Eye Couple.

next guest. He worked with Tiger Woods, was his former
swing coach, and now as the host of Hank Haney's
golf radio show on Sirius XMPGA Tour Radio. You can
follow him at Twitter or on Twitter at Hank Haney.
Hank Haney, Welcome to the Eye Couple. Is great to
(01:39:25):
have you on. Hey, thanks guys, I appreciate it. Thanks
for having me on, Hank. We all know what happened yesterday.
Great moment with Tiger Woods winning the Tour Championship. But
I've been a little bit hesitant, more hesitant, i should say,
than most people, because I see everybody saying Tiger is back,
and I'm just not so sure. Where do you stand
(01:39:48):
on that? Oh? I think he's back, I mean I
really do. I saw in October when he posted a
swing of you know, one of his first swings he made,
and everybody's son. I said, he can win with that swing,
and he's He's played well this year. I mean, he
just missed qualifying from the Ryder Cup team and he
got picked, you know, as a captain's pick. But but
(01:40:11):
having only gathered points for one year where the other
players gathered for two years, he actually probably he would
have been like the fifth player on the points after
this year. That a good year, a couple of near misses,
a major championships. I mean, you know, I feel like
Tiger's gonna win more golf tournaments. I knew he's gonna
I said he's gonna win this year, and then I
was down to the last tournament of the year, so
(01:40:33):
I got it right, but just barely. H you know,
He's he's playing a very competitive level right now, Hey, Hank,
is it h Tiger went five years between winning a
tournament and he hasn't won a major in ten years,
which is just mind boggling when you think about the
(01:40:54):
right that he started his career of winning majors, but
has his lack of winning up until yesterday. Was it
more physical or mental because he's had a lot of injuries,
But but when you don't win as it become a
mental thing as well. Well, I mean it's it's both,
but but it starts with the physical. I mean, you've
got you've got to hit the ball. I mean, you know,
(01:41:16):
Tiger had all these great mental abilities, and everybody talks
about how he intimidated these guys and this and that,
and I hear all this talk about how the intimidation
factor was gone. But when when you're not hitting the
golf ball, you know, you can't just intimidate your way
to victory. I mean, you've got you gotta be able
to strike the ball. When Tiger was dominating, he was
(01:41:37):
literally number one and or thereabouts and every important statistical category,
he was just so much better than everybody else. So
you know, the last two years he hasn't been Now
for whatever reason is, swing, injuries. I mean, there's a
lot of things that go into it. But this year,
if you look at him statistically, he's been great. Uh
(01:41:58):
you know, he hasn't putted probably quite as good as
he as he has in the past. But having said that,
I didn't think his putting looked bad. I just thought
he's just, you know, a week away from putting good
and he, you know, finally had a real good putting
week and had a good ball striking week, and you know,
he won. You know, I really feel like his game
is right there, and it has been pretty much all year.
(01:42:21):
He's played very very well. Uh you know, he didn't
get it done a couple of times when he was
when he was right there, but nobody gets it done
all the time. A lot of that is circumstances. He
wasn't on the best courses for him. But but going forward,
even with the major championships, he's got a lot of
good golf courses coming up. But he likes and I
(01:42:43):
think he's going to be a factor in these major
championships from from now on. Well. Heck, you know as
well as anybody that Tiger's always been about the majors
and I think everybody who's wondering, I mean, do you
think I feel like it's a lot to ask him
to challenge? Is Jack Nicholas's record again for major championships?
But do you think that's realistic within the realm of
(01:43:07):
possibility in a realistic way. No, it's not realistic. It's
not within the realm of possibility. But I mean, as
long as you know he's got four to tie Jack,
five to beat him, as long as he plays in
five more, there is a possibility. But the fact the
matter is is for players that have won more than
two majors, they win one out of every three times
(01:43:29):
they're in serious contention. And you define serious contention by
on the lead or tied for lead on Sunday. He
was on the lead on Sunday at the Open Championship.
So that's one time he's on the lead. You got
you got to do that three times to win one
of them, if you if you stick to the odds
that other players have one at and that that means
(01:43:49):
to win five more majors, he'd have to be on
the lead fifteen times on Sunday. Uh. You know, and
for somebody that when the next major comes around, he's
gonna be forty three years old. That that's just not
that's not realistic. I mean that that that can't logically happen.
But having said that, he is Tiger Woods, and you know,
who knows, maybe he'll you know, he may win every
(01:44:11):
time he's on the lead from here on out. You
just you just you just never know. But the odds
are pretty long against that. But as soon as he
wins one of them, everybody will think, hey, he can
still do it. And you know, and honestly that's good
for golf because you look at all the attention that
golf got yesterday. There's only one person that can do that,
and that's Tiger Woods. Do you think Tiger during the
(01:44:36):
drought ever got to a point where he said, man,
this is just I can't win again. I just have
him won. It's been a long time. You think he
came to a point where he doubted that he might
ever win again. Now only when he couldn't swing, only
when he couldn't move because of his back. But if
he as soon as he could swing again, he knows
he can win. He's been, you know, an assistant captain
(01:45:00):
for these uh Ryder Cup team presidents Cup team. He
goes out there and he watches those guys, and I
guarantee in his mind he's thinking, I can beat these guys.
I mean, there's just there's not a dominant There's a
lot of great players, don't get me wrong, but there's
no buddy that's close to Tiger Woods that's playing the
game today. Uh, not even close. Uh. And and he's
(01:45:21):
looking at those guys, he's thinking, I can still beat
all these guys. And I'm sure he feels it now,
especially after yesterday. It's The Eye Couple with Chris Brussar
and Roy Parker on Fox Sports Radio. We're joined by
Hank Haney, the former swing coach for Tiger Woods. And Hank,
you and Tiger obviously have had some ups and downs,
been through some great times and then some down periods.
(01:45:43):
Where's your relationship at now? Do you have one? And
where would you like to laugh? It can't be good now.
We've never we've never had it. We never had a downtime.
We only had up times. To be honest with it,
We've never had a downtime. But when I when you know,
when when I left Tiger uh back in you know,
(01:46:04):
you know two thousand whatever. Uh, two thousand and nine
Masters was my last tournament when I when when I
left Tiger, you know, the last thing Tiger said to
me is he said, Hank, we've been great friends and
we need to stay that way. And that was the
last I ever heard from him. So you mean it
wasn't we never had any problem. It's just it's just,
(01:46:27):
you know, that's just kind of the way it goes
with Tiger. But wait a minute, Hank, you left out
of port when he said, don't let the door hit
you on the way out. No, he didn't say that,
But yeah, you would you reach out to I mean,
I'm sure you were happy for him yesterday. Would you
reach out to him and you know, say anything to
(01:46:47):
him or or are you just gonna leave it alone? No?
I just leave alone. I mean, hey, listen, I had
a great time with Tiger. It was great for my career.
It was you know, I was with him during the
most dominant time in his career, so you have to
assume that it was it was great for both of us.
I mean, I've got nothing but great memories about it.
I mean, you know it, and I'm happy for tiring
(01:47:09):
to play good again. I'm just happy for him. You know,
he looks like he's a much happier person now. I
mean he's had a lot of problems and he's for
him to overcome that. You know. You know, people talk
about the back problem, and that's a big thing. But
I mean when you get arrested and you got like,
you know, six drugs in your system or whatever it was,
you're not just having a bad night. I mean you
(01:47:30):
got a problem. And now to see him where he is,
it just makes me feel really good about where he
is in his life. And he just you know, it's
just great to see him do good because I wish
him nothing but the best. Hank. Did you sound like No,
we sound like it. Sound like a nice guy, Hank.
But most people, if you would have parted with somebody,
you probably you would lose, Hank say it in person,
(01:47:52):
but but you would probably be like, you know, not
not that thrilled. I mean I should say when he
was struggling, had a little extaground. Never at all? No,
why would I have an extagraund? No, I mean, once
you part with somebody, I'm just saying you and and
and you said you were with him to not hear
from him at all since that day. Isn't that a
(01:48:13):
little unusual? There must have been some some sort of
strain in the relationship not to have talk since then.
Not really, because that's kind of the way it is
with him, but that you know, that's all right. I mean,
it's just it doesn't change anything about how I feel
like I did with Tiger. It doesn't change anything about
you know how I know that I was as a
coach and a friend to Tiger, So you know, it's
(01:48:35):
all fine. I mean, I had no problem with it,
to be honest with you, you know, I knew that. Listen,
when you're as great as he is, there's something different
about you and you have to accept those differences as
a coach, and I certainly did. Uh. You know, it's
just it's just the way it is. But but you
always just you just do your best, you know, and
(01:48:56):
you try your best, You try your hardest. I had
great times with Tiger. He did good. I did good. Um,
you know what what else could be better than that?
To be honest with you, I mean, you know, hey,
nothing's forever. Well, Hank, thanks a lot for joining us.
We appreciate it. And um, we'll see what Tiger does
from here on out. But thanks for all right. All right,
(01:49:20):
all right, guys, I can't watch all right, So yes
or no? Will he win a major next year? Real quick, hank,
Yes or no? I think he will? Okay, he will?
All right, appreciate it, Thank you. I hope he's right, Rob.
But where does Tiger Woods come back rank among the
best comeback stories in sports history. We'll discuss that next,
But first let's get to dev Carson last trending in
(01:49:43):
and you know what, Devil, I'm glad you said wow,
because you know what. Magic is over. It's all over.
And and uh, you know, Cinderella just turned into a
pump gain. We said, showed up. You showed up to
the press conference like you had on his swag, like
you were Joe Namoth. And here we said it, keep
(01:50:07):
the expectations low. Fitzpatrick three interceptions, and again that is
his third. That was for fooks at home who can't
see what we're talking about. He just as I was
coming on the air, he just Ryan Fitzpatrick through his
third interception of the night, this one taken back to
the house. So Pittsburgh now with a twenty two seven
lead over the Buccaneers, that extra point was good. So
(01:50:28):
it's now twenty three seven, and again that is his
third interception of the night. Everybody had said stick with
a hot hand of Ryan Fitzpatrick. But guys, Jamis Winston
becomes eligible to return from his suspension first thing in
the morning. So it's going to be interesting to see
what Tampa Bay ends up doing. Hey, deb I bet
you Jamis Winston is somewhere drinking champagne eating crab crab legs.
(01:50:52):
That was just bad. You noticed that story came out
about how Winston were bad man, Rob Parker. I'm sorry, Chris,
go ahead, no witch to how the story came out
that winch the saity was gonna light Fitzpatrick was gonna
light it up. Yeah, Dixon, and he might have put
(01:51:12):
you the expectations. That's what does Fitzpatrick in all the time. Wow, here,
well we shall see what happened. Obviously, this is not good.
They've got two minutes and fifty seconds to go before
a halftime. But again, it's twenty three seven lead now
for Pittsburgh over the Buccaneers. Taking a peak at Major
League Baseball scores. Four three lead right now for the
Astros over the Blue Jays. They're in the bottom of
(01:51:34):
the sixth in Toronto. The Rays have an elimination number
of one. It's likely going to happen for them tonight
that they're eliminated. Yankees lead Tampa Bay four one, top
of the seventh, top six at Chicago, Cubs trail the
Pirates two one, Pittsburgh Brewers and Cardinals nodded at one
apiece top of the fifth inning. Red Sox with a
six one lead over the Orioles bottom of the sixth,
and of course the Rockies about a game and a
(01:51:55):
half out in both the Wild Card and the West
in the National League. Rockies in Phillies scoreless, top of
the third, and tonight the Dodgers, in fact, about ten
minutes from now they get underway at Arizona. Thank you, Dev.
That's always great job. And it is the eye couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob harknelievable just right on, Q
Man that that dude is. He's so predictable. Fitch magic
(01:52:18):
my foot. He should have came out last week in
whatever corny outfit he wore to the game and just
been himself, and I understand how he got caught up
in it. I'm not. I'm kind of saying it's somewhat
facetiously because obviously that's not what this was about. But
still it showed your mentality that you thought you had
(01:52:42):
arrived and you hadn't. How old is he thirties five?
Thirty six? I think you said the last time we
were trying to figure it out. I think he's thirty five, right,
Rob G I think so. I mean he's been in
the league, you know, more than a dozen years. You're
not going to it's a reason he's a backup or
a starter on bad teams. You are who you are. Yeah,
(01:53:06):
now thirty six, you are who you are. You are,
You're not You're not gonna change. There's nothing gonna be different.
And eventually you knew he was gonna turn into a pumpkin.
For all the people who were just chattering, oh no,
leave him in, don't play Jamis Winston blah blah blah
blah blah. I bet you not not gonna say that.
After this game, the coaches and the GM and the
fans will be saying something else. So it's ridiculous. He
(01:53:28):
just he just connected with Mike Evans on a bomb
down the left sideline. And maybe they can push it
into the end zone before halftime. He's got momentum and
maybe make a game out of this. But they got
four turnovers, right, four turnovers for the games interception before
total and yeah, he gotta look he got a good
(01:53:49):
passing there. I don't know how Evans caught that, but
two draped all over him. Crazy. We're coming to you
live from the guy, cooed Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's
easy to say fifteen percent or more in your car
insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or call
eight hundred and nine four seven Auto. The only hard
part figuring out which way is easier. He just got
off the phone with Hank Haney, Rob because I want
(01:54:12):
you to make your point. But there's a guy who
called in with the whole quarterback thing. I think we
need to talk to him. He has a great point
and comparing it to another sport. But go ahead of
a Hank and then we'll get to a couple of question.
All right, we'll go, Hey, we can get this car.
I know it's somebody you texted. No, it's nobody. Another point, No, No,
make it respect. No. I think I think you'll you'll
agree with the point that he's coming up with, But
(01:54:34):
how do you know his point if you would talk
to him yet? All right, if your boy all right,
get him on the phone. All right, Leroy from Indiana.
You're on Leroy not couple on Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Leroy? Hey,
how's it going? Fellas a big fan of the show.
Thank you, buddy, thank you. Okay, So tell me if
I'm way off the face on this. But there's still
(01:54:55):
plenty of rooms for violence in football. But I think
that kind of what they're trying to do with the
world changes as you're trying to take away vulnerability and
plays right, like you got big penalties for running into
the kicker because they're in a vulnerable position. Well, I
think you can kind of look at the quarterback thing
because a lot of times they get hit. Great of
the Clay Matthews thing isn't like this, but they're in
awkward positions and they can't really defend themselves when they're
(01:55:18):
getting hit. And I realized this the nature of the position.
But if you look at what Major League Baseball did
and they got rid of the unnecessary violence running into
the catcher at home plates, you take away those awkward,
violent situations, kind of like the illegal wedge blocks. Now,
I think they're just trying to do what they can
to get rid of vulnerability and the awkward situations for players.
(01:55:38):
And Chris I'm kind of mad at that. But let
me ask you this. You you've mentioned the Clay Matthews calls,
aren't like this? How do you feel about those? Because again,
I'm not I'm off for making the game safe. I'm
just saying, let's do it logically, where a tackler definitely
know and hecked, a fan, a coach, we all definitely
(01:55:59):
know what's right and wrong, what's allowed and what's not.
And in a sport like tackle football, what's been a
textbook tackle since the beginning. I just it's hard to
see that now. As appilly, what do you think about
Clay Matthews hits? Were those correctly called? In your mind? Well, so,
(01:56:21):
it's it's tough because those can be frustrating because again,
a lot of those, you know, it's very little tweaks,
but you sought to follow it to the letter of
the law, which is the rule. But at the same time,
quarterbacks get paid so much you have to protect that
investment from kind of these unnecessary plays. And you know what, Leroy,
great call. Were appreciate you for listening. In Indiana and Chris,
the one that he was talking about was you remember
(01:56:41):
when Buster Polsy from the Giants got injured at home
plate and then they stopped gods from having collisions at
home plate. I mean, dudes, we're teeing up. Remember that? Yeah, yep,
And that's what they've changed, so you don't have as
many collisions at home plate like you used to have.
And Catcher's camp blocked the ball if the ball's not
coming like they used to be able to. So so
(01:57:04):
it's I hear what you're saying. I'm not totally against it,
but if football can be a little bit safer, I'm
cool with it. Yeah, you want to get one more
or no? We go? Ye, get one more woman and
then we'll go to the break. All right, let's do that.
Santos in Texas join the Odd Couple on Fox Sports Radio. Santos,

Oh thank you. Appreciate it very You're very welcome and
great work. But I like football when running a lot
still curtain was playing. Hit the man, put the man down.
(01:57:50):
If he's hurt, send him to the sideline. Let's get buzzy,
Let's play the game. That's what I love about the game.
Appreciate it, great call, I get it. I know there's
a lot of cars like Santa's right, who loved the
game the way it was. Whatever, Chris, Hey, we will
on the other side. We will get to where Tigers
(01:58:12):
come back ranks among the all time great comeback stories
in sports. Don't call them a comeback, right. That'll be
next on the eye a couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Everybody's got it to do. List, drop off the dry cleaning,
pick up some milk. Here's an idea. Let's add save

percent or more on car insurance, extra money in your pocket.

the I Couple with Chris, Bruce Sard and Rob Parker,
and we're wrapping up the show with our final segment,
Rob about what were the greatest comebacks in sports history.
(01:59:20):
I've got a list of five. I think you got
your list of five. You want to go first? No,
you go first? All right? All right? Because everybody's talking
about Tiger and was this the greatest comeback in sports history?
I'm going to say no, it was not. I'll start
from the bottom. I think I'll go I'll put this
at number five. That may even be a little high,
(01:59:41):
but I'll put this at number five. It wasn't a
major championship to Tiger won. Oh no, that's not five.
Are you kidding me? I'm just saying, can I do
my list? I'm sorry, I'm putting Tiger at five. I
think this is more like Grant Hills come back. You
know where Grant was one of the best players in
(02:00:02):
the world, I mean, top ten player easy in the
NBA before he got injured, and he came back and
made an All Star team years later. Same thing with
Bernard King came back, made an All Star team maybe
two with the Washington Bullets, but they never got to
back to where they were before the injury. And Tiger
(02:00:23):
hasn't gotten back to where he was yet before the injury,
which of course would be winning majors or a major
at least, so I put him in number five. Number four.
Peyton Manning came back from the neck injury to not
only win a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos, but
to throw for an NFL record fifty five touchdowns, So
(02:00:44):
I think that was a tremendous comeback. Number three, I'm
gonna go with Michael Jordan. This was a little different,
just because he wasn't injured or anything like that, but
he went to play baseball, walked away from the game
for a year and a half, came back initially and
was not the same air Jordan we'd all come to love,
but worked his tail off in the offseason and got
(02:01:05):
back to dominating the sport just like he did before
he left. Three titles before he walked away, three titles
after he walked away consecutive years too. Number two. I'm
gonna go George Foreman. Probably a lot of people forgot this,
but we know he got lost his title to Muhammad
Ali in the Rumbling the Jungle in Zaire, Africa, and
(02:01:27):
never was the same for a couple wasn't the same
for a couple of years, start getting beat by guys
he was definitely better than and then retired, became a
minister and then came back ten years later because he
needed money for his church and his ministry and eventually
won the champion, the heavyweight title at forty five years old.
(02:01:50):
Forty five years old, he knocked out an undefeated Michael
Moore was twenty six. That's gotta be a huge I
mean that people forget about that, but this that was
than Tiger Woods come back and then a number one
Muhammed Ali three years in exile for refusing to go
fight in Vietnam. Uh didn't know if he was ever
(02:02:10):
gonna come back and be able to fight for the
heavyweight title. And when he came back, he was not
the same fighter. His prime years would have been sixty
seven to seventy or you know, sixty eight seventy one
when he was out. Um, but he lost those years
but still came back and was the greatest beat Joe Frazier,
beat George Foreman and many others. So I got Muhammed
(02:02:33):
Ali is the greatest comeback of all time. It's hard
to argue with your list. You have a good list
except for Tiger. I don't know if I could put Tiger,
I ain't mad at you. If you would have come
back and won a major, then maybe I can buy
into that. Uh you know so so I'm not so
sure about that. I don't know. Did you think about
Monica Sellis at all? Remember she got stabbed yeah yeah, yeah,
(02:02:59):
right and made it back. She was ranked number one
in the world at the time of the attack. Uh,
and and was able to come back after the attack
and able to win one more major, showing her courage
and stuff. So I think that she she would be
my number five. That's big because you know that that's
the type of you got. You got stabbed out on
the crock where you used to playing. How could you
(02:03:21):
feel safe so that could haunt you right out there playing? Yeah,
so that's that's a good one. Yeah. Um, what else
did you have on your list, so mother Mayden Manning. Yeah,
Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning would be another one. Peyton Manning obviously,
I mean he had his neck, I mean the injury.
Did he have to even have the courage to get
back out there. So I would give Peyton Manning that.
(02:03:42):
Um I did love uh George Foreman uh, mostly for
coming back and then making that grill and selling all
those forming grills or whatever. She's supposed to laugh. Well,
that's the thing too. No, no, no, it's an incredible
you know what I mean, that's the thing people forget, like.
(02:04:02):
He became one of the most beloved people in sports,
you know, no doubt about it, no doubt about it.
And then Michael Jordan to walk away and be able
to come back and be as dominant and win three
more championships. But Muhammad Ali, I agree, Muhammad Ali's another one.
So those would be my top five. I wouldn't put Tiger.
If Tiger come come back and won a major for
(02:04:25):
his first win, you know what I mean. Of course
after a long time, then I would be like, that's
incredible to me. So yeah, I just with you, because
I mean I think people have gotten called and maybe
I did too by ranking him fifth. But a lot
of people have gotten caught up in Unless Tigers about majors,
and that's when he'll really be back to me, when
(02:04:45):
he wins a major, you know. But we'll be back tomorrow.
The odd couple
