before we even get to the crew and start the show,
man happy. Oh yeah, thank you, thank you, thank you.
I appreciate that's a mollstone. I mean, do you feel
a little different? What you know? What people ask you fit?
Like when you say, uh, people say you're getting old,
(02:09):
you say it's better than the alternative. Oh yeah, because
if you're not getting old, then what's that means? That's
the fifties, the new thirty five, not even the new forty.
You feel good? Yeah, I feel great. Most people don't
believe you even fifty when they look at you, Doday, No, no, no,
people think I'm not a day over forty nine. But no,
(02:32):
I think I look at you, I'm hanging in there.
I'm in good shape. I still work out, I still
play basketball. I never thought I'd be playing rec basketball
at fifty. And your wife surprised you this weekend, took
me to Vegas. She she told me she had a
big surprise, and she flew us to Vegas Friday night
and we hung out there all weekend. I had no
(02:52):
idea what better We watched the end of the uh
was that game three Friday night, Game four, Game three
three Friday night in the casino, the Palazzo, and you
know everybody was watching. Uh. We saw Michael Jackson circue
this so late and that was terrific, especially if you
(03:12):
like Michael. Who doesn't like Michael Jackson. But it was
a great performance. And we hung out by the pool.
It was you know, it didn't gamble, didn't lose my money,
not not a gambler, but it's still a nice to
get away and you get a meet out. And we walked,
you know, we walked around the strip and we were
you know, walking into casinos with shopping and I mean
it was it was a great time. That's nice, man,
that's great. Happy birthday. May have many many more joining
(03:34):
the club. I hope I look as good at fifty
as you do at fifty five. People not used to
this level. This is like January. I'll be fifty five
on Russian all right, right, fifty four, but I'll take that.
And and uh, you know, rob G and the crew
and Alex, look at what they did for your birth
(03:56):
some phone nuts. They wouldn't even let me put in
the money for it. That was eyes were like nope.
It was between Alex and rob G. They were like,
we got it. I want to thank you guys contribute.
I'll come up with something that I I appreciate that. And
and Alex is trying to see he's slick with it.
He's he's hoping that this leads us to become vegans. Right,
(04:17):
that's he's got an alterio, just a subtle movement to
help you look better when you're fifty. But I didn't
see any seaweed donuts. No, right, what are they? These
are vegan, yes, and vegan, half gluten free okay something.
The ones that are gluten free aren't vegan. No. I
think they have some egging them, but they're all still supreme.
(04:37):
All are gluten free, some are vegans, okay, but we
had them last week for the first time. And tryn't
want to try it, and you know what, you're a hardcore,
dedicated carnivore. Yes, And I said, remember I was like, Nope,
not interested in. They're like, Rob, can you at least
just try a bite? So here it is again. You
got a full bonut. Gosh, they're delicious. They are delicious,
(05:00):
and I'm hooked. I'm hooked. This is my new dessert.
I'm trying to eat healthy now that I'm fifty, and
I'm gonna try to you know, get on the health kicks.
The phone nuts is my thing now. Oh no, all right,
all right, all right, we got plenty to talk about.
Plenty we do. And let's welcome into our couple of
(05:22):
crew because you know what, we wouldn't be able to
do this fine radio program without him. Of course, Rob
gr producer, Alex our engineer. Deb Carson is our anchor.
She'll keep you updated on everything going on. And turn
Sean is back. He was in New York this weekend.
And uh, Elijah is in studio of course doing some
(05:44):
video and video camera work. We do ascope, Facebook, Live, Instagram,
what else? Yes, any place you any place you can
see videos? Yes, So we are in full effective on
the other side of the glass. So Chris Broussard as
a fifty year old, let's kick some asks on this Monday.
Let's let's do it, and you can participate as well
(06:09):
as always. Give us a call up at eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. That's eight seven seven nine nine.
Big Mike, where's he going? Three? Come try one of
these donuts. I'm sorry, big nuts. Nuts. Come try one
of these phone nuts because Mike, Mike ain never had
one of these. You know, he's never had a fight.
(06:29):
He's clearly a meat and potato. Come on, try one
of these. You'll enjoy. You don't regret, dude, either cut
one if the white one there you go, enjoy that?
All right? All right, all right, let's do it. All right? Well,
the World Series is over. Shocking shocking. Not that the
(06:50):
Red Sox won. They had the best team all year
one hundred to day where spring training on right, beat
the Yankees who won a hundred games, beat the Astros,
who won one hundred and three games. And then my
thing went eleven and three in the post against the Yankees,
the Astros, the Dodgers. And here's here's the thing. I
just thought it was I can't believe how easy it was,
(07:12):
because the Dodgers really didn't put up a big enough fight.
And to win the three games, you know, to come
back to uh LA and not have to go back
to Boston and win the series in five was shocking
to me. I thought, I thought the Dodgers had them
right where they wanted to Chris when they were up
for nothing in game three? Right? Was that? What game
(07:33):
was that? There were four nothing? I thought they were
going to no, no, no no, Game four. Then I thought
they're gonna a game four, obviously four right there at
their home stadium. I thought, you're up for nothing in
the seventh inning in game four, you tied the series
at two two, and then you have Kershaw on the
mount at home for Game five. That's that's being in
(07:55):
the driver's seat. I'm not kidding you. Now, they went
from that to lose it, you know, losing that game
and getting blown out in that game. I equate this,
though you said they didn't put up a fight. I
equate this to a boxer who steps into the ring
and really doesn't throw a lot of punches, right, doesn't
go for the knockout. He's being cautious and I'm sorry. Look,
(08:17):
the Red Sox are the best team in baseball, and
we're gonna get to the discussion of whether they're the
best team we've ever seen in baseball, because, as you said,
they they went through the hundred win Yankees hundred plus
and then the Dodgers three, who had won sixth straight
and the best picture of this generation. And I say
(08:41):
that about Kershaw because his consistency seeing guys that are
great for a few years. I mean, you can go
down Lens to Coum. You know, he had had his
he's back, but he had his dip, you know, like
you see these guys have their little runs here and there.
Kershaw has been great for a long stretch. Son say
he's the best of this generation. They ran through him.
(09:03):
But here's my thing. Taking nothing away from the Rand Sox,
I think the Dodgers didn't make this a series, didn't
lock this up at two games a piece, because of
self inflicted wounds. And I hate to keep beating the
analytics drum, but it's true though. Yes, I mean, you
you got Rich Hill who's pitching one hitter, a one hitter,
(09:28):
and he just struck out Edward O'd noon, Yes, and
you take him out? What are you doing? And I
know if if if Hill gets rocked, gives up a
homer or run, you know whatever, people are gonna second
guess that. But you can never look, it's a game,
a chain, you never can every nothing's perfect. But you
(09:48):
had cushion with the four run lead. So my thing is,
let him get in trouble before you just take him out.
So if he gave up a couple of hits or run,
then you say, okay, thank you very much, you're getting
to him. But but but but he didn't do anything. He
walked the first bat right on four pitches, I believe, right,
But then he struck out noon yet and I'm sorry,
let the guys pitch. He only threw. And even if
(10:15):
he were, I mean, I'm just look, you gotta go
with your gut feeling. Yea. I was so upset as
soon as he did it. And here's the other thing.
If you look at the Red Sox star players one
through four, they were being held in check through the
first four game series. They were like, uh six, four
forty five or like they hadn't done anything mookie beats
(10:39):
or jets. At one point, I believe they might have
gonna throw and forty one stretcher. Yeah, because because of
that eighteen inning game and that game they went, uh, Sean,
what was that he mentioned? It was like or was
that the run? It was like for twenty two and
that at right and that eighteen in the game would
(11:00):
any weren't getting any hits? So you lost because other
guys want him getting big hits. Uh Kensley Jansen, Dude,
to give up the home runner Jackie Bradley with two
outs in the night, I mean, that's a killer to
back night. That's a that's a killer to kill. I'm sorry,
I I don't care what the analytics said. Let the
(11:23):
guy manage by gut instincts, and I just think so
I really feel like the Dodgers should have won game too.
I'm sorry, Game four and even it up at two games, right,
and I'm not looking No. I mean, I'm a big
fan of Clayton as a person and obviously as a
great regular season pitcher, But I don't know how much
(11:45):
confidence I have an even now. He's the Peyton man No,
he's Peyton Manning of the of baseball, no doubt. I
mean this, this last one was probably it for most
Dodger fans where they they start up for debating, because
you know what I mean, they kept waiting for him
this say, okay, all right, now we're down three to one.
He could force the series back to Boston with an effort.
(12:06):
First team comes out in the first thing and they're
down to nothing right right away. This is not this
is no longer a question about Kershaw. No, because we've
seen him have really strong postseason outings and then come
back and have a clunker or just a me joker out.
So this is not, oh he's fine, like David Price
(12:27):
is over the hump now, okay, Kershaw not like this
is just who he is in the postseason for whatever reason.
If it's nerves, if it's the better competition, I don't know,
but it's it's sealed now. He's not very good in
the post He's not that guy and you can't count
on him. And I think that moving forward, Dodger fans
(12:50):
are probably giving up on Kershaw as like the deliverer,
like they thought he was going to deliver him a championship.
Usually when you have a picture of a picture of
that caliber, usually you get a championship out of it.
Because what you're looking that's what you're looking for. Pictures
are so important, you're right. And then in the seven games, yes,
you can give me three starts and right, you can
give me and win two or three and you win
(13:10):
a championship. Instead, the Dodgers go another year. It's been
a full thirty years now that last time new Woman's
nineteen eighty eight, and now they're looking for and move
on to twenty nineteen thirty one years now? Right, all right,
well is it time for the Dodgers to move on
from Clayton Kershaw. Chris Rose from the MLB Network has
(13:30):
the answer. Next, it's The Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Thanks for listening to The Odd Couple podcast. Be sure

All right, it's the Eye Couple of Chris Brussar Rod
Parker on Fox Sports Radio this metal Monday, and we're
brought to you, of course, by Discover Card. Because Discover
Card treats you like you would treat you. We're pleased
to bring in right after the end of the World Series.
(14:14):
Chris Rose, host of Intentional Talk on MLB Network. You
can follow him on Twitter at at Chris Rose. Chris,
welcome to them. It's all good, guys. We're great, man,
We're great. We look, we both picked the Dodgers to
when now we we felt on paper, Yeah, we felt
on paper the Red Sox we're the best team. But
(14:36):
you know, Chris, the best team doesn't always win baseball, right,
We thought, you know, they might maybe their team of
destiny and they'll pull it out. But and and we
readily admit the Dodgers are I'm sorry, the Red Sox
are better. But we were just talking about it. I
feel like the Dodgers hurt them, like took themselves out
(14:57):
of a chance to make it a series with some
of the moves they did based on the analytics, you know,
taking Rich Hill out. I even thought taking Walker Bueller
out the game before, you know, and obviously that became
an eighteen inning game, Like we don't have to go
into the batting lineup, you know, taking out their home
run hitters, Like, are we just dinosaurs and wrong or
(15:20):
do you think this is a situation where a lot
of people might look at them versus the rat Sox
and how they use analytics and there could be a
little bit of a sea change in Major League Baseball.
All right, well, let's let's be honest first and foremost,
which is all thirty teams use analytics, right, and we're
not saying don't use them. You know, a different varying degrees.
(15:42):
And you know, I think some of Dave Roberts's decisions
were organizational decisions, meaning that this is the way that
they go at it, the game planning, and it's the
whole if them scenario. If this happens, then we will
do this. And I also believe that some of it
was gut, and I don't instances those are I think
(16:03):
the rich Hill thing was much more gut than analytics.
You can say it was the wrong move, and eventually
it was, but I think that that was a managerial move.
And I do believe that at times Dave Robert's hands
are tied, much like a lot of managers are, because
they're getting the lineup handed to them, they're getting the
if them scenario forced down their throat. And we're losing
(16:26):
the touch and feel in the ability to look into
a guy's eyes. I think that Alex Cora actually made
a bunch of brilliant moves, and people will say, well,
those were old school managerial moves maybe, but man, I
loved it that he brought in of all the in
games one and two, he did it with Chris Sail
to slam the door shut, you know, against the Es.
(16:49):
That he did it with David Price. I mean, David
Price pitched started games two and five, came out of
the bullpen in Game three, and warmed up in Game four.
I don't know how many teams are taking that chance,
but he did it, and it worked, and it was
a thing of beauty for the Red Sox and Red
sax Nation. Chris. What about the Clayton Kershaw, who, of
course has an option to get opt out. The Dodgers
(17:13):
could offer him, you know, a little bit more money,
a couple more years, maybe four years, one hundred million.
I know he's old, sixty five million. Do you expect
him to opt out and test the waters or stick
around in la I know a lot of Dodger fans
don't want him right now, but I wouldn't give him up,
But what do you think is going to happen with
(17:33):
him in Los Angeles? So he's got three days to
do this. I believe he will opt out. I believe
he also will stay, and I think he'll get a
modest extension on top of the money that he's already owed. Okay,
so it's not going to be the Kobe Bryant. Let's
just pile on and thank you for everything you've done
to the organization because we know what that did to
(17:55):
the Lakers and hamstrung them for several years. Right, So
the Dodgers have to be careful now. I saw Kershaw
do a great sit down interview with Ken Rosenthal during
the NLCS on FS one, and Clayton, who's very proud
and works extremely hard, believes that he can regain his
(18:15):
velocity in the off season with a full off season
of training, and to that nature, I hope he can
for his sake and for the dodgers sake if he
remains la. I'm somewhat skeptical that he can because I
just don't think guys get healthier and better after the
age of thirty. But there's a possibility, and if so,
then the deal will work out fine because I think
(18:38):
you know some guys who have to recreate on the
fly and the look terrible. He's the bath of the Yankees.
He went from a power guy that was ninety eight
to guy was growing eighty nine. And on the last
few years it worked out. But for two and a
half years it was disastrous. Kershaw was picking for the
most part while he was kind of learning on the
(18:59):
flying to be in. So we'll see how we propel
with him. On the managerial side, if you're the Dodgers, okay,
you expect Kershaw to come back. Dave Roberts, I mean
some people say it's hard to blame the manager when
he makes seven hundred thousand and freedman, a general manager
makes seven million. Who's making the calls here? And if
(19:20):
it's coming from upstairs a lot of it, then how
can you blame Roberts. I know he's going to back
to back World Series in his first three years. You
know he's been they won the Division six years in
a row. It's not like they haven't competed and haven't
had a chance. Uh. You see him as safe and
just business as usual, as there a chance that they
(19:40):
could make a move. Well, they got an option they
could pick up for a little more than a billion
h and L Chris, we we we got a bad connection.
I don't know we could if you could call back,
or we could call you back real quickly. Yeah, we'll
try to try you back because it's just we can't
hear you. Yeah, let's try Let's try him back real quick.
(20:03):
But um, look, I think with Dave Roberts, he's got
it's a team option, but they hadn't picked up you know,
they haven't picked up yet, so obviously they were looking
at this year as a tryout rob. The way I
see it is this only the Dodgers front office really
seems to know how much is making the decisions. All
these Dave Roberts calls, are we doing this? And he's
(20:26):
the front right, So if they're making the calls on
not starting your four top home run hitters against lefties, okay,
let's try No, we got Chris back. Yes, I think
the Dodgers sabotaged my phone life. They didn't. All right,
go ahead drop that knowledge. Dave Roberts, what's his future
(20:46):
with LA? I think that I think he's okay. But
here's what i'd like to see in the future with
it with so many teams focusing on analytics and not
taking the manager out of the equation, but utilizing him
in a totally different role than we had seen the
previous five. You know, we hadn't seen this five or
ten years ago, right, right. I would like to see
(21:09):
management come down and answer questions post game as well.
I really want to great ad because because they're putting
I mean, depending on how they use the analytics, but
if they're strictly analytics are right, then that manages the pup.
He's the one that takes the shots because everybody's ripping
Dave Roberts. We saw him get booed by the fans.
(21:30):
I've said this, if these are his decisions, in my opinion,
my humble opinion, he should be fired. Right, I'm sorry, Like,
don't bring him back if he's making these decisions. But
if it's Andrew Friedman and the rest of the front office,
then I don't see how you can blame Dave Roberts.
I'm with you here, you know. And here's the other point.
(21:50):
The term is called manager. He's not a head coach. Okay,
so he's a manager of people. For one hundred and
sixty two games. You have the massage egos, you have
to take care of personalities, playing time, guys that have
incentive clauses, all that seemingly when you get to October,
that's when you start managing baseball games and it becomes
(22:12):
the weirdest thing. It really does. Because you're in the
analytics world. Sometimes what works over one hundred and sixty
two games does not work over a seven game series.
You have to look, you have to have a gut,
you have to have a feel, you have to use
your eyes more frequently. Sometimes leaving a guy like Cody Bellinger,
(22:35):
even though you're going against the left he doesn't make
sense because Rapiel Devers, who's a left handed hitter for
the Red Sox, was hitting against Clayton Kershaw. Like, what's
the difference here? Bellinger was your best defensive outfielder, he's
your best base runner and he can run into one.
So to me, that just didn't make sense to have
(22:56):
him on the bench against David Price twice, a guy
who does not have a curveball that can offset a
power left handed hitter, just didn't make sense. Chris, Chris,
let me ask you this about Manny Machado. I've seen
the reports that you know, the Dodgers looks like they
might not bring him back or probably won't bring him back.
(23:17):
There's reports that the Yankees have soured on him because
of things that went on in the postseason, as one
slides and all that story out there that said, dis
already money on the table to put Bryce. Okay, what
do you see. Has Machado cost himself money with the
way his antics this postseason? I don't know. I mean listening.
(23:39):
Would you take three hundred thirty seven homers and one
hundred ribs in your lineup and played one hundred and
sixty two games? Would you just take that? I would
take it. I love him, but I got him, and
I'm a Manny Machado fan. I have been, but I
even I was turned off by some of the stuff
in the point play that well least we all, we
all were turned off. Who does want to see Who
(24:00):
wants to see the guy not busting his ass down
the line? The ball's gonna hit off the step that right,
Nobody wants to see it. We get that the thing
that will cost Manny Machado money is the fact that
there's only a handful of teams that are gonna want
him anyway. So like the Phillies we know are dying
for a start, are they gonna turn and say, yeah,
(24:23):
you know what, Manny just didn't play hard enough for
the Dodgers will pass. Right, That's that's never gonna happen. Now.
The Campasing Royals aren't gonna be knocking on his door, right.
The Texas Rangers aren't gonna come calling. Have a lot
of money. They have like a low payroll next year,
I think fifty nine million with all those young kids,
(24:44):
so they could easily add if they wanted to. They could,
They could, And I imagine that that there are people
that would would say, hey, listen, we've had enough of
his act. It's a little tired. I don't need some
guy who's trying to give the first baseman an Achille
entry Like I don't need that. But I don't see
it costing him goo gobs of money. I think it
(25:04):
would be minimal at that right. It's the couple on
Fox Sports Radio. Chris Rose, of course, hosts of Intentional
Talk on MLB Network. If you want to get him
on Twitter, it's at Chris Rose. Chris Uh. We got
about a minute to go here, I want to ask
you about the we just talked about Dave robertson managers,
but we've seen something in the trend where all the
(25:27):
old school managers who refuse to take notes from the
front office and you know what I mean, and deal
with that. Terry Collins has gone, John Farrell, Dusty Baker,
Mike Sosha, Joe Girardi, Buck Show Walter. Is this you know?
Would they'd rather take maybe a guy who played, who's younger,
(25:47):
who can relate to the players and are more open
to UH analytics and doing things a different way? Is
that the trend now? Or any of these guys gonna
get jobs again? The older guys, Well, lets start with
this very quickly. You have to embrace analytics. And like
I said, all thirty teams are using it. It's to
(26:08):
what degree does it get transferred from the front office
down to the dugout during the three hours and seven
minute game Like that's what happens. But if I were
looking for somebody first and foremost, I want to be
able to look into their eyes. I don't need to
administer a two or three hour exam. I need to
figure out how you relate with people. Now. Aaron Boone,
(26:30):
the game sped up for him in games three and
four of the playoffs. That was partially because he had
an inexperienced bench coach as well, whereas Alex core has
got a guy who's been through the wars and Ron
Rennickey and managed in playoffs and things of that nature.
But they were both great people. Like I'm talking about
the ability to look at guys and explain things and communicate.
(26:51):
So Boone and Cora that's why they were both so successful,
in addition to having immense amount of talent around him.
But that wins that play in clubhouses, and I don't
think that will ever change, all right, Chris Well, great
job man. Chris Rose, host of Intentional Talk on the
MLB Network and follow him on Twitter at Chris Rose.
(27:12):
Thanks a lot man. We appreciate the college and Christen firing.
Everybody in Cleveland. Be careful, you know, Hugh Jackson, Tyrone
Lou Who's next? Yeah, exactly. If I'm Terry Francona, I'm not. Yeah,
I'm turning my phone off. He's safe. Yeah, he's all right, Chris,
thanks a lot man. We appreciate it. You gotta guys,
thank you. It sounds like he was almost set up
(27:33):
to fell I'll explain next, but first let's bring in
Dev Carson for the latest in sports. Dea, Hey, guys,
happy Monday. Thank you you bet. We'll start with some
NBA news. The Pelicans will be without Ford Anthony Davis
tonight against the Nuggets. He's gonna miss another day and
another game because of a sore elbow. Get game tips
off at nine eastern from Denver. Eight eastern tip off
for the Bucks and Raptors in Milwaukee's place. Sianna Sonatacombo
(27:56):
in concussion protocol, so he won't be playing tonight against Toronto.
Raptors will also rest Kawhi Leonard tonight against the Bucks,
and the Warriors have ruled Sean Livingston out of tonight's
game at Chicago because of right foot sore nous. That
game also gets underway at eight eastern. What a downer
in that game, I mean, Raptors, Bucks, Yeah, two teams
would both undefeated in like that would be such a
(28:19):
great game. But the two stars are sitting there. Yeah exactly.
They imagine that's the game that you picked by tickets for,
if you're right, Yeah right, yeah, Well On Monday's Discover

Slash match limitations apply, and rob of course, you just
mentioned a rough weekend already for Cleveland coaches tylu fired
by the Cavaliers on Sunday, and today the Browns fired
not only head coach Hugh Jackson, but also offensive coordinator
Todd Hailey. Defend of coordinator Greg Williams is going to
(29:01):
take over as the Browns interim coach. You know what's
amazing is Greg Williams was involved in that bounty. Exactly
how did he get in? How did you get another
job exactly? Well, a lot of people wondered that, Yeah,
it say, so you're you're putting hits out on guys
and you can get another job, right, But but I
think Sean wasn't unusual. But that's that's gotta be right.
Exactly what they had to they had you once it
(29:25):
came out, But you can't tell me a part of
the NFL culture sometimes that must have been going on
like that would be having a big hit or play
is fine, but when you're trying they went too far,
potentially trying to hurt somebody with you. That's never going
But I'm just saying if the league was like what
like Paul, he wouldn't be back in Buddy, Buddy Ryan
(29:47):
made a career of it, yeah, and was proud of it.
Another another coach fired. Cowboys fired offensive line coach Paul Alexander.
Mark Colombo takes over as his replacement, and it's the
first time Jason Garrett has fired an assistant coach during
the season. And finally, wait a minute, Jason Garrett, how
do you have time to fire an assistant? Wasn't he
at the World Series? Even Popcorn or Jason found out
(30:11):
the way the rest of us, What am I saying?
That came no high? Hey, Jason, by the way we
fired the yeah, exactly. Didn't even have to put the
handback up the back of the shirt and move the
mouth just for him. Uh. And and finally, guys, who've
got the Patriots and Bill's kicking off within the hour
(30:33):
and Patriots receiver Josh Gordon miss he's gonna be about
a quarter. He's gonna miss about a quarter of action tonight.
He was late for a team activity on Sunday, so
he's being punished for about a quarter here. So I
hope this isn't the beginning of a downwards the beginning
of the end. Yeah, yeah, because because after this it
will be. If he can't work up there, I don't
(30:54):
know what else is he gonna do. And if he
can't get motivated to work with Brady and win a
ring man, you don't want to play football. Yeah, all right, Well,

(32:18):
And uh, you know, Robb, I spent many years of
my life in Cleveland, Ohio. Graduated high school from there.
My first job was at the Cleveland Plane Dealer newspaper,
work at the Aquabecan Journal. That was a that was
a big job. High school sports in Cleveland. High school sports.
Ohioway's big that's from Shoode. Yeah, and uh, my parents
(32:41):
still lived there, sold Cleveland. They're in Cleveland for six
months of the year and then they go down to Louisiana. Wow,
for the other six months. That's where our roots are, right. Um,
this is tough for me to see what's going on
in Cleveland right now. Yeah, a lot of stuff moving
and happening. I'm so First, it starts with ty Lou
(33:03):
Tyron Lou, who coached the Cavaliers to a championship with
libersafty two years of any major sport football, baseball, basketball,
and was regarded as the hot young coach. Six games
after the Lebron James era ends, he is fired. Fired,
(33:28):
and then a couple of days later, a few days later,
Hugh Jackson, who was very fond of telling us that
he's the head coach of the Cleveland class. That's one thing.
We won't be hearing that anymore. He's fired. And then
a few hours after news breaks that he's gone, Todd Hailey,
(33:51):
the first year offensive coordinator, he's gone to. It is
chaos in Cleveland, and I think I can take a
little bit of sense of it. Helped me out because
I thought he was good enough to keep around when
you were one in thirty one. Now he's got a
(34:13):
franchise quarterback, so you're not gonna give him a little
time to see if that could work. Do you see
what I'm saying. I think it's unfair. You were all
right with him when he didn't have anybody and you
were losing all those games. Right, this was his most
successful season there, right, you kept him after last year, yeah,
when they went on in sixteen. But now because you
got a quarterback. And I'm not saying that that everything's
(34:35):
running smoothly, but now it's he's got to go right now,
not at the end of the year, but right now.
I think one of the problems with this may have
been Hard Knocks, Like you could see some of the
discord on Hard Knocks and it was public, and then
of course it really hit the fan about a week
ago when Hugh was talking about he you know, he
(34:59):
made take over some of the play calling obviously from
Todd Haley again the first year offensive coordinator, but Todd
Haley's had a lot of troubles. Yeah, And you could
see his personality come out on Hard Knocks where you
can see him being a guy that just he wants
to take over. I'm not even saying he had alterior
(35:20):
motives with but just he's that type of personal personality
jim has Jimmy Haslim. He said this on the firing
of Hugh Jackson, obviously Brown's owner. He said, We're not
going to put up with internal discord. So what I
think happened is I think that there was a power
struggle between Hugh Jackson and Todd Haley, and that's why
(35:42):
I think they're both gone. I think has like, Look,
we brought in the new general manager, John Dorsey, where
it's a new culture. We got a Baker Mayfield. He's
our future. We don't want him growing up in this dysfunction.
So we're getting both of y'all. See, this is the
problem I have, And I think he was set up,
and I'm talking about Hugh Jackson was set up to fail.
(36:04):
That's why you don't bring him back. When you hire
a new general manager, let him hire his own coach.
It was easy to let Jackson go last year they
won't win sixteen, right, let him go. Let let the
new general manage drive his own guy, and then this
guy's not trying to Hugh Jackson needed to win games
to stick around. He knew that that's different, and that's
(36:25):
why Tyrod Taylor was gonna be the one starting quarterback
and not the Baker Mayfield the first overall pick, right,
where other first overall picks are started. Right, Yeah, see,
so so he set up. But they had the GM
and Hugh Jackson had completely different objections. Right. The GM's like,
let's build for the few huge Jackson right, he was thinking,
(36:48):
let's win that. But I gotta win games. Now, win
one game in two years. I can't. I can't go
one is fifteen. He's got the worst what the second
worst record in the history of the NFL. It was
some guy from the thirties, some guy from the thirties,
I mean, basically in the modern era, he's record wise
(37:08):
the worst coach. Ever, I agree he was set up
to fail. However, I could also say, look, they gave
him a shot. Now it was the odds are against him, because,
as you said, they're both going in different directions. But
at least I think ownership really liked you. One thing
you did see from Hard Knocks, and even people around
(37:28):
the NFL say this about Hugh Jackson. He's a likable guy,
Like he seems like a really good guy, a guy
that you want to succeed. And I think maybe Brown's
ownership was like look, let's give him a shot. Now,
I don't it wasn't really a fair shot, but it
was a shot. It was better than just firing him.
And he would have had to come out of the
gate like maybe instead of being what two five and one,
(37:51):
maybe he would have had to be four and three
or something like that. But this was yeah, and you
know what, the kick of the lack of a kick
of car a couple of games early on, So let's
be fair there. Well, they could have easily won one
two more games, would you say they could have? Right,
they could have had four wins Pittsburgh and then I
can't remember the game when the guy missed the extra
(38:13):
points and the field goals and then it got cut
the next day. But yeah, but but but that's the part,
And I think, I know it would have sounded cold,
like you go, oh in sixteen and you get fired.
But if but if you can't get fired on that,
when can you get fired? Do you know what I mean?
Like just if you said to Hugh, hey, he hired
a new general manager, I want him to hire his
(38:33):
own coach. And the other part is we're gonna build this.
We're getting a rookie quarterback we're not gonna put you
through this. Do you know what I mean? We're not
gonna tell you. But it got a huge shoes. If
you're in Hugh Jackson shoes, I gotta admit you want
this opportunity, right. I would rather. I would rather them.
I said, we're gonna give you a chance, versus just
(38:55):
fired you from the get go. But there was no
this is the only problem with that. And I hear
what you're say. And it happened in uh Detroit with
um uh their head coach who they fired, Um no,
no, no no, no football the Lions they fired. Uh just
his name, just Jim Carwell, right, yeah, Jim Cole. Jim
(39:17):
Cole made the playoffs like two out of three years,
something the Lions haven't had. He had success there, right
but but but ultimately, Bob Quinn, the GM is from
New England. He wanted to hire one of those assistants
from New England all the way. So the team doesn't
make the playoffs. I think they were nine and seven,
but don't make the playoffs. What happened He gets fired
(39:38):
even though he made the playoffs two out of three
years and they had a winning record, they still didn't
want them because that's not their guy. And I'm just
saying once once, once a new GM is hired, you
already know Chris, you're not his guy. But some gms
will give you a shot, not a shot. I just
think that you're right. I mean, they were heading in
different directions this. This is also the situation with Troyn
(40:01):
Lou because there are reports that Kobe Altman the gym,
wanted to play the young guys, and ty Lou wanted
to play j R. Smith and Kyle Korver, And so
Ty's trying to win and show I can win without
Lebron James and the front office saying, look, even if
you win, we're still gonna be a bad team. Maybe
we make the playoffs. They wouldn't have, but they thought
(40:22):
that maybe, and they're like, it's not worth it. Let's
just go see what these young guys can play, who's
a keeper and who's not, and then we might get
another good pick. Right now, I think ty Lou should
have I think the firing was wrong and premature because
maybe two weeks, four weeks, five weeks from now, ty
Lou sees it there way and say, you know what,
(40:43):
let's just play the young guys. The old guys aren't
getting ty Lou was done and just didn't want to
be there anymore. You know, it's hard Chris, he know
he wanted to show he could coach with out. Yeah,
he wanted to show. And that's why I think it
had to be a philosophical difference. I do think tylu
should have been with Hey, let's play the young guys.
If you've got he had a long term deal, twenty
(41:04):
million dollars left on it. He If you have that
type of security, then in front office is one. Right.
It's a big difference in these football and basketball and baseball. Wow,
it's a huge difference. But if you got that type
of security in the front office, is with you on
the play the young guys. We're gonna lose, then play them.
(41:26):
I get it. As a head coach, you want to win.
But stay tuned. We got plenty mofolia I Couple Fox
Sports Radio keep it locked. Yes, indeed it is the

(41:47):
Visit guecode dot com for a free rate quote. And
of course, we just ended the two eighteen World Series.
Boston Red Sox take down that Los Angeles Dodgers and
their hopes of in their first World Series in thirty years.
Y'all cel pleas guarantee fall short as they go down
(42:08):
four games to one to the Red Sox. And the
Red Sox Rob had been so impressive this year, one
hundred and eight wins, beat the hundred win Yankees three
games to one, beat the hundred three win Houston Astros
four games to defending champ. Take care of Yeah, the
defending champs, who were a great team in their own right,
and obviously take care of the Dodgers. And a lot
(42:28):
of people are now asking the question, is this the
best team we've ever seen? Prisoner of the moment. No,
they are not, And this is no disrespect. Everybody said,
Rob hates Boston. He's not gonna give the Red Sox
any credit. They had an unbelievable We talked about him
before we both picked the Dodgers. We both said on paper,
(42:49):
the Red Sox to better. There's no question about it.
They're better team Okay, they have a lot of things
going for him, but I think it's just so premature
every time a team wins. This is what we hear
two years ago when the Cubs won. Are Cubs clubs
gonna win back to back? They're gonna win like three
World Series in a row. Look at all the young
stars they have on this roster. Oh, this team is loaded.
(43:11):
Didn't didn't didn't happen Astro's last year? Oh, all these
young Springer and our Tuvan and all these young players
that they have, and they got the pitching. They're gonna win.
They're gonna go the World Series the next pier four
years in a row. What happened? They didn't make it? Yep, yep.
It doesn't work. Baseball doesn't work like that. And we
(43:31):
talked about it before. The best teams don't always win.
It's the hot team. That's the guys who get the
big hits. And you know what, there are a lot
of Red Sox stars that didn't perform, but other guys
came through. Pierce. Pierce, uh came up, the eight Pierce,
the MVP, he came up. He came for his eight
(43:52):
RBI in five games. Fight unbelievable. He came through a
Jackie journeyman, Jackie Bradley Junior came to much better than
you and I and he he's in Omer's left and
right noon yet had the big three run home run.
All right, right, I mean, this is how you win.
Although I could say this, that's proof of how good
(44:14):
they are. They're stars, Mookie Betts, JD. Martinez didn't have
the best series, but they had their role players step up,
and that's proof of how great of a team they are.
That's that's this show. I think the art things. You
can't count on those role players. You could put those
guys in the same exact situation next year and they
wouldn't deliver. You can't count with the analytics. I'm just
(44:36):
telling that. I've seen it where that guy got the
big hit all of a sudden by being a minor
leagues next right, I'm with you there. It's way too
premature to say this is an all time great team.
You have to when I think of all time great teams,
I'm thinking of like the Big Red Machine, Yes, where
you win a few rings within a few years, where
the Oakland A's won three World Series in the role
(44:59):
in the seventies, the Yankees won three in a row
and four out of five with Mariano and Jeter. That's
a dynasty. Yeah, I can't put a team that won
one title up with with those great teams now, and
then don't tie in that they've won four over the
last fifteen years. Those are not the same teams, like,
totally those two thousands nothing to do with what happened,
(45:21):
different teams from fourteen years ago. How in the world
can we put that together? Stock you can say this,
this is one of the best individual seasons we've ever seen.
It's one of the best individual seasons we've ever seen
in the history of baseball. I will give him that.
But as far as all time team, like you said,
(45:42):
you gotta win more championships and then let's see how
many of these guys become Hall of Famers, right, how many?
I mean, really does? Mookie betts Is looks like he
could be on a track, But yeah, we've seen guys
have a great few years and then fall off the map.
Don Mattingley had four of the greatest years at to
play Chris you could ever have in baseball. He didn't
(46:03):
make the Hall of Fame. He was unbelieving. At one point,
was Matt Kimp looking like a Hall of Fame? Absolutely right?
I mean, it happens in this worse. That's why the
all time greats in baseball are the ones who are
consistent every year. They're going to do what they do,
which is play at an ultra high level. So let's
see how many of these guys become Hall of famers,
(46:25):
because you're not going to be an all time great
team if you don't have all time great players. And
sale looks good, but I mean, you know, especially with pitching,
who knows how he's gonna be pitching at this level.
And the other part is it's like the San Francisco Giants.
What did they win rob three and six years or
was it three and five? They won three and three? No,
(46:46):
I think it was three and five, was it? But
the problem here was they never won back to back,
so people never looked at them and considered them as
a dynasty. You know, they never won the three or five.
That was an impressive it's a run, but I mean,
but you gotta get back to back. You gotta like
put string it together. If you win three in a
row or two in a row and two out of
(47:07):
three or you know, or or three out of four
or something. The interesting thing that was, like the San
Antonio Spurs never won back, they never won back to back.
The interesting thing is you used to see back to
back champions a lot more hard. I think it's probably
because you didn't have you stay together player, team stayed
together back then, and now you got movement all over
(47:27):
the place. But look, great run for the Dodgers there.
What they, along with the Astros are the favorites for
next year. I'm sorry, ye, Red Sox and the Astros
are the favorites for next year. But let's see if
they get it done. It was impressive for the Astros
just to get as far as they did as the
defending champions. It is hard, I'm telling you, it's just
(47:49):
and we talked about it before. The last American League
team to repeat the ninety nine two thousand Yankees. So
you're talking about almost twenty years ago, and the National
League was the Cincinnati Reds seventy five seventy six. I mean,
think about that, so it doesn't happen. Baseball is really hard.
I know, people get caught up where where where would
you wait? The Red Sox or do you think they
(48:12):
have a dynasty in the make it. It's not a
dynasty from one game or four wins World Series in
fifteen years, but do you really think it has that
kind of stay in power. I don't know. David Price
pitched well. Is he gonna go revert back next year
to the postseason David Price or we continue. We don't
know about that Chris Sale you mentioned, we don't know
(48:33):
where he's going out through injuries. Kimbroll wasn't wasn't lights out.
He gave up runs, he wasn't lights out. And if
it was a closer, uh situation in some of those games,
the Dodgers might have come back and won some of
those that Kimball wasn't that great end. So I think
it thinks about the moment and people are two worked
up on it. They are a tremendous, tremendously balanced team.
(48:56):
They hit home runs, they manufacture runs, Mookie back, they
stole basses, which is which Kie thirty base. Yeah, their
defense is tremendous. That outfield is as good as it gets. Defensively.
We saw that in the playoffs, making out game saving
catches good, starting pitching good. You know, the bullpen was
better than a lot of people expected in the postseason.
(49:17):
So they are great. But like you said, in this
day and age, we see this from year to year.
Teams play well and people want to declare that they're
about to have a run. No, it doesn't work that
way in baseball. Give us a call eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine. Let's take a few calls. Nate
(49:39):
in Indy? Is that Indianapolis? Yep? Nate, welcome to the
outcome on Nate, it's going great. I'm out here in
Indy tract the cold one getting ready to have a
chat with this fall of beer took up the stake.
What are you doing whole production, Nay, Nate. First, you
gotta wish Chris a happy fiftieth birthday. Wow, hold on, Brucey,
(50:03):
it's your birthday, and now we eat and vegan donuts.
I'd added a couple of fingers at Jack Daniel said
that mean for your first all, thanks for your birthday. Wish.
What's going on? What you got to say? Okay? So,
so here's the concept with dynasty that I think a
(50:23):
lot of people are misunderstood about and Chris hit it
with the Big Red Machine. That was a team that
was together for an amount of time. You can't. You
can't bring in a Kevin Durant or a Derek Jeter
for two years and get a couple of rings and
it'd be a dynasty. The dynasty is a term in
(50:44):
sports where you think of um, Magic Johnson, you think
of Larry Bird, you think of magic uh, Michael Jordan.
These are gentlemen that were with the team for an
elongated amount of time. Three years, five, I would say,
the years, even though Durant obviously was an add on.
They're a dynasty, but it was just one guy though, Yeah, yeah,
(51:08):
that's what's right. But they qualified if they've won three
out of three out of four, and it could be
after this year, three years, three in a row and
four out of five, exactly, what's the dynasty? Exactly? Rob,
I love seeing it. That Weddy man, you're wilting sharp.
Chris had the birthday. I'll talk to you guys, all right,
let's go to Michael in California. Michael, what's have you? All? Right? Man? Uh?
(51:32):
About that? I'm gonna keep Earl with you. The Doctors
could have won back to back World Series if they're
management wasn't stuck on paper, mentris and analytics and so
we're gonna so I'm gonna say this, if they want
to win a World Series, they're gonna have to get
a stronger bullpen, because that's the that's their game plan, right.
Let the start to go as long as you can go,
(51:52):
then you go to the bullpen. But if the bullpens
a week, you're gonna give up all runs. They're gonna
give up the lead, gonna keep losing. How you're saying
it is law is they're gonna be ruled by the analytics.
They need to just strengthen their bullpen. That's it. I mean,
they don't need or Brice Harper I would like so
you don't want would like to see a change, a
little bit of a change though in their philosophy. And
(52:14):
I'm actually hoping that teams around baseball look at the
Red Sox. Now, I guess you could say last year
the Astros won it and they were straight analytics. I
hope teams look at Boston and say, you know what
they had. They struck the right balance. You don't go
over it's a balance. No one's saying that we should
go back to not looking at analytics, just hiring old managers,
(52:38):
old krusty managers. We're not saying that, but there's a
field that goes with the game as well. Can we
squeeze another one in rob Or where we going? Let's
go to Chris in Portland. Chris, welcome to the Eye Couple. Hey,
how are you guys doing tonight? Man? Great? All right,
check this out here. You know, I got nothing against
the Red Sox two eighteen Red Socks. They were the
(53:00):
best team in baseball this year. They did something that
only four teams in the wild card era did, have
the best record in baseball and won it. All right,
because most of the time we said that the best
team in baseball doesn't always win the World Series. That's true.
They also got one of the highest tables this year. Yep,
oh yeah, Dave Dombrowski spends money that he spent a
(53:21):
lot of money in Detroit. So you're saying, we want
to we want to get to it before we lose you.
You're saying they're not going to repeat tell us why,
I'm okay. How many free agents they got right now
that are off the books next year? Their payroll is
so high. Right now, they have so many free agents.
All these role players that you guys were talking about,
are they coming back? What about Pierce, he's a free agent,
(53:43):
but he might go somewhere and get a starting job somewhere,
get paid exactly. Well, that's the problem. That's why we
were saying, you used to see teams repeat. I mean,
we talked about the big Red Machine that won in
seventy five and seventy six. The three years before that,
the Oakland A's won it a three peat. Like you're
(54:03):
just not You're not likely to see that anymore in
the day and age of free agency. All Right, we're
gonna bring in a Super Bowl champion, Rod Woods and
the breakdown the NFL. And there's another Super Bowl champion
that looks like a dead man walk and that's next
we'll explain. It's The Eye Couple. Fox Sports Radio. Thanks

(55:27):
And contrary two reports about Josh Right not starting for tardiness,
he started, So what was he? Was he tardy or
was the whole report wrong about him being ted? I
didn't see him. Reports about to be wrong then because
he started certainly wrong about the punishment. Where about the tardiness? Yeah, look,
(55:51):
I hope, and you never hope a report is wrong
because we know we know what reporters and you always
want to be right. But I hope that Josh wasn't
tardy because that's not a good sign. Nope, he's been
giving another opportunity and he can't keep doing the same thing. Yeah,
and if you if you can't make it work in
(56:11):
New England and you're not motivated to change by Bill
Belichick and Tom Brady, then I think something's wrong. So
hopefully Josh Gordon will continue. Uh no score, So the
right path. Buffalo held New England with the first up
possession to nothing. So now the Bills have the ball.
(56:32):
And also we're keeping an eye on that Minnesota Lakers game.
Oh we do have rong. All right, let's bring in
the Hall of Famer Rid Woods and ride. Welcome to
the an. We're great, man, How are you man? I
am awesome, good, good good. Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna
go right to your former team, or one of your
(56:52):
former teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers. I'm just gonna ask you's
point Blank's James Connor cost than Levion Bell money? No,
Levion Bell's cost him money. But that's certainly literally true.
He's the one that chose not to come in right,
So tell me about how is this gonna play out
(57:14):
like your Look, Connor's averaging more yards per carry, He's
got doubled a number of twenty yards, you know, plus
games that Levion had in fifteen games last year. Already,
he's got as many touchdowns as Levion had last year.
Our teams, I'm not saying nobody's gonna want Levion Bell,
but our team's going to look at this and again,
(57:35):
is Levion gonna how's this going to affect him? Let's
just put it that way on tomorrow. Levion's a different
runner than Connor Connor, and I've been saying this for
a while. Connor is more of the old school Pittsburgh
Steeler mentality, running back, hit the whole go down hill.
You go back to the Cincinnati game that he ran
(57:57):
that he played in, I mean he was trucking perfect
will in the safety. I mean he was running those
guys over. And Levian can do that, but he doesn't
do it more. He doesn't do it as much because
he's so elusive. He can make those guys miss in
space and space, and he can make those guys miss
in small areas. So, um, you know, there are different
(58:18):
type of runners. Um. I think Levion's more of a
dual threat where he can you know, he can he
can beat you out of the backfield. He can you
can play him like a receiver style. Um, he's that
guy that can get a thousand yards rushing and the
thousand yards receivers. He's that type of back. Um where
I don't know if Connor's that if in receiving side
of it. I don't know if he's that type of
(58:39):
guy yet. Um, but um, I don't. I still think
that somebody's gonna want him. Uh, there's gonna be multiple
teams that need a running back like Levian bail Um.
You know he can. He can definitely help an offense. Uh,
just unfortunately for him, his offensive line is you know,
slid for the Pittsburgh's Dealers, and Connor is balling out
(59:02):
given the opportunity. Yea, that's the NFL. Next man up.
Let me ask you about what's going on with the
New York Football Giants. Uh, Their coach Pat Shermer basically
won't commit to whether or not Eli is going to
be the starter for Week ten? Is this the beginning
of the end for Eli? Have they just finally said, uh,
we got to do something else here? Well, you know, um,
(59:25):
I think they don't have the answer there. Let's put
it right. But I'm just saying that that they finally,
like before it was long enough, you know, to say
that there that they can't commit to Eli, that he
won't say he's going to be the starter quarterback in
week ten. That's a different change because it was always
we believe in Eli, and they've been bringing them out
every week and as it, I mean, they the head
(59:47):
coach can say it, and I think as long as
nobody else in the front of it comes back to
Trump that we're good. That's that's the truth. The truth
has just been spoken. Sherman. Now, you got to hope
that that they let him be the head coach and
let him make the decisions that's what's best for the
(01:00:09):
football team. Even though Eli won two Super Bowls with
the for the Giants, and he was the MVP of
those Super Bowls, those those weren't great teams, right, They
just happened to have a nice little run at the end.
You know, he didn't have great years when they won
(01:00:30):
the Super Bowls. It wasn't like he was throwing forty
touchdown passes, you know, five interceptions and you know, having
forty five yards passing. He wasn't doing that either. So
you know, unfortunately that every good player that played for
the main organization they've been with. Those times come to
(01:00:51):
an end. And I think as long as or front
office people and let the head coach pick the guys
that he needs, the guys that he believes in, then
those guys have a fighting chance. It's the I couple
of Fox Sports Radio. We're joined by Hall of Fame
defensive back Rod Woodson and Rob and I have talked
about this ride. Like in New York, everything's magnified. So
(01:01:14):
if you ask somebody in New York and Rod, Rob's
included in this, they'll say, Eli is a without question,
a Hall of Famer. You're obviously outside of New York.
What's your what's your view? Because you're right, his regular
seasons haven't been he's a Hall of Famer. What do
you think, Rod? If he's all if he's a Hall
of Famer, then then um, gosh, my mind, just what
(01:01:37):
the what's the quarterback? Um? The quarterback to play jump
plump gets a Hall of Famer? Rare you go? I mean,
if if you're saying, if you're saying super Bowls or everything,
then every quarterback that wins a Super Bowl should be
in the Hall of Fame, all right, So here we go.
Why then, why is Marv Levia Hall of Famer? Marle
But he lost for straight straight? How could you be
(01:01:59):
a Hall of You lost four straight Super Bowls, which
is dubious. Rod, but he and he went to four straights.
That is amazing NFL, but ask four straights. But but
but here's my thing with Eli and why I think
I would rather have Eli Manning over Philip Rivers any day.
Philip Rivers is at fifteen great regular seasons, hasn't done
any in the playoffs. Eli beat the eighteen and old
(01:02:22):
New England Patriots, was the Super Bowl MVP and both
Super Bowls and made unbelievable throws to win both of
those Super Bowls. At the end, and Rod, I agree
with you, is regular seasons are nothing to write home about.
But if that's not super that's not Hall of Fame worthy.
I don't know what is. Okay, Maybe let me say this,
So when you think of football, when you talk about
(01:02:44):
the history of the game and you talk about quarterbacks,
you're gonna have to do you have to mention Eli Manning. Yeah,
because he beat Tom Brady twice. If you're gonna call
Tom Brady, so you're gonna tell me when you're sitting
at the bar and people starts talking about great quarterbacks,
you're gonna bring up Eli Manning. No, but I'll talk
about when we talk about the great, when we talk
about Super Bowl Plunkett was a great comparison because he
(01:03:07):
won two. It's not the it's not the Hall of Famer,
the very good. No, I'm with THEA. I hear you, Rod,
I hear it is it is. It is three hundred some,
my people, you have multiple contributors. There's only around two
hundred and ninety three hundred NFL players who ever play
pro football in the Hall. You can't tell me that
(01:03:31):
with the logic that Eli Manning, as you watched him
in his totality as a Hall of Famer, will the Plucket.
I thought the Plunket comparisons with the Plunkett did win
two Super Bowls himself, and I would be a pauled
if he were in the Hall of Fame. But I
think like Rob, Rob and I both worked in New York,
(01:03:52):
and I know like when you do something good in
New York, it's it's viewed, it's tremendous. But here's something
bad in New York. Is viewed. It is the worst ever,
no doubt. But there's also baseball players in New York
who played. Don Madeley didn't make it into the Baseball
Hall of Fame. Okay, he had four of the greatest
seasons you could ever have rod, but he didn't make
it in because he didn't have the entire an never
(01:04:14):
bad precursor for Eli. No, but he never but Don
Madeley never made it to the playoffs. I mean they
made to the playoffs one time and he wasn't a performer.
People remember people who perform on the big stage. And
that's why I think Eli's gonna have a chance to
make it to the Super to make Yeah, I mean
I don't. I don't vote, so he will have a chance.
(01:04:35):
I mean I would disagree because I believe there's multiple
people who are in the Hall at this point, but
it's too late. They're in now at the end, at
the end result. I just think that when you look
at when you look at football, and I respect that
ELI won two Super Bowls, I don't respect that he
was the MVP because quarterbacks are always the MVP and
(01:04:57):
less another position just balls out here and buff But
beyond the quarterbacks, they're the only way they can ever
win it nowadays. Um. But with that being said, when
I look at quarterbacks and I say, hey, you know what,
that guy right there we have the game plan for
why didn't you we have the game plan for Eli
even in his prime, whatever that was, whenever that was,
(01:05:18):
you never had the game plan for how good Eli was.
I don't disagree with you, Rod on principle about that
that Eli wasn't this great quarterback, because he really wasn't.
But I will say, when you're talking about winning the
Big One and and the and Tom Brady and and
the fashion, he didn't win like Peyton. Manning won his
(01:05:40):
last Super Bowl Rod where it was all defense and
he threw for ninety yards and looked like the ten
man that was That was That was the catch by uh.
I can't remember his name, David Tyree. Tyree, but if
you ever miracles, but if you ever look at how
he got I've got free to even make that throws
incredible will play and the other one you remember to
(01:06:01):
throw the manningham down the sidelines. Yes, right, let me
get your opinion on this. I want to move on
to another quarterback quickly. We got about a minute left
it looks like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are giving up
on Jameis Winston. I mean to me, you don't start
Ryan Fitzpatrick at this point unless you're done with Winston
as your future. Do you think, like, what do you
(01:06:23):
think the future holes for Winston? Are you ready to
just say, Okay, he's probably just gonna be a mediocre
quarterback or do you see something there where he still
could become a star somewhere. I'm just gonna mention this
stat and I think this is close to being right.
He's played forty eight, he started forty eight or fifty games.
He has like seventy one turnovers as a certain quarterback
(01:06:48):
in forty eight or fifty. Man, that's it's hard to
win when your quarterback on a consistent basis is turning
the ball over, be it through interceptions, be it through fumbles.
It's just hard to do. And then when you watch
him play and you know I want him, I wanted
him to do well, you just I just don't see
(01:07:10):
the understanding of where he wants to throw and deciphering
of defenses when a consistent But he's been in the
league long enough to understand what defenses are and he
should be able to decipher a defense and hopefully pick
it apart a little bit. I just don't see that
on a consistent basis. He might have one or two
good games, he might have three good games. But every
player that plays in this league on a consistent basis,
(01:07:33):
especially as a starter, they have decent games. Yeah, I
just don't think. I just don't think he has won
the position outright in Tampa. And when you when you watch,
you know the bearded wonder then and even though he's
a journeyman, he knows where he wants to set throw
the ball. And then you know, he's one of those
hot and cold guys. When he's hot, he's hot. When
(01:07:55):
he's cold, he's cold. All right, rod Well, thanks a
lot for the knowledge, man. We really have appreciate it,
and we will talk to you next week. Yeah, absolutely,
well we can. We'll pick up on this side. Eli.
I know he Rob you know, I'm it's a really Robin.
I've had this discussion and I'm with you, but I
(01:08:15):
just know how New York is, and I've been in
New York and I know it's not I've been influenced,
but mostly it's New York because Jim Plunckett. There's no car,
there's no battle cry for Jim. But but the other
one is seriously and I know we're gonna let you
go because we'll be here all night. But but I
always say anybody can win one. If Eli would have
(01:08:38):
won one super Bowl, then there's no way. It's when
you But what about Pluckett, But it's when you win too.
I always say that's always want to be a super Bowl.
I don't know why they don't have. I don't know
why he's not a Hall of Famer with two. But
isn't that good during the regulars. We'll get the MVP
on both super Bowls. Did he throw game winning touchdowns
to win? I don't know all of his information. This
(01:08:58):
is my only problem with the argument of super Bowls,
because this is a this is the ultimate team sport.
I always say that the best quarterback got ever faced,
and I say, fourteen Hall of Fame quarterbacks are gonna
be Hall of Fame quarterbacks. Dan Marino, who never won
a Super Bowl, that's the best quarterback ever face. So
(01:09:19):
I don't think you can always judge winning super Bowls
and saying this guy should He's an elite player because
he won. This made me super Bowls. You know that's
why we got users are yelling. Nobody's ever said because
you never want to pick this up next week, rods
(01:09:40):
a man? All right, fellas, all right, as you heard,
Ron Parker thinks he knows better than a Hall of famer.
That's next. But first let's bring in Damn Carson for
the latest in sports. Damn, you gotta win. It's about winning.
You do have to win. What do you what do
you think da is eli man in the Hall of Famer? Uh?
(01:10:02):
I think you'd have to because he won two Super
Bowls with New York Brady twice. I think he is.
I mean, he doesn't feel like a Hall of Famer,
but those two games right there, say he is. I
think right. I mean, it's it's funny because it feels
I know, I know, he feels more like a Hall
of great rather than a Hall of Famer, you know
what I mean. I mean, look, he had there's no
(01:10:24):
doubt that those were two tremendous super Bowl victories. It's
gonna be interesting, and I think New New York factor
is a huge one. Let us stop interrupt. No, no, no,
you're fine, but you guys had mentioned it, and obviously
we talked last update about Josh Gordon, supposedly, according to
NFL Network, was going to be missing about a quarter
of the action tonight because he was late for team
(01:10:45):
activity on Sunday. Still haven't seen anything from Ian Rappaport,
who initiated that report. He started the game exactly. I know,
in fact, he dropped a deep pass that could have
picked up a first down that ended up on a
three and out for for Brady the first drive, so
and I believe he is. He was in just a
second ago too. But the game is scoreless, nonetheless, but
the Patriots are down inside the twenty right now, so scoreless,
(01:11:08):
six forty three to go in the first quarter at Buffalo.
By the way, the Bills are the ones who are
playing the Patriots tonight, right. Not a Bill's a winning
if you got to look at it, because there's no
exactly exactly, And if anybody's wondering, I've had people saying,
who's the quarterback for the Bills is Derek Anderson? Who's yes.
The Lions are dangling receiver a Golden Tate as trade bait.
(01:11:29):
Detroit reportedly is asking for a mid round pick for
trade for Tea. Really they're done, William, They well, I
think they want to pick up some other pieces, so
I don't know. They need to round out a couple
of other positions, so I don't know if they feel
like they're set. And again that also is NFL media.
So generally you can count on them. But when you
see things like yeah, Josh Gordon's not going to play
and then he shows up in the starting lineup. M
(01:11:52):
Buccaneers bench Jamis Winston in favor of Ryan Fitzpatrick for
their Week nine matchup against Carolina from season. That's two
rookies under the hood. Auto zones Free Loana tool program
has the specialty tools you need. Deposit required, Get in
the zone auto Zone. No Marquee names for the Raptors
of the Bucks tonight, No Kawhi Leonard, no Jannisana Tacumfo
Right now. Bucks with a thirty to twenty six lead
(01:12:13):
over the Raptors late first quarter, Pacers with a sixty
three sixty one homely over the Trailblazers four to go
in the third, and the Hawks are at the sixers
Philly up by ten about six to go in the
second quarter. Guys all right, Deb, Thank you, all right,
thanks Deb. It's the I couple. Chris Brussar, Rob Parker.
We're coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent or more
(01:12:36):
in your car shoots with Geico. Go to Geico dot
com or call eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The
only hard part is figuring out which way is easier. Rob,
We're gonna give you the floor since you're disagreeing with
the Hall of Famer. You got about a minute to
sell us on Eli. Man, I'm just it's not that
I think and I just said the same thing to
(01:12:58):
Rob Woodson, Philip Rivers. Go look at his numbers for
those fifteen years, a tremendous, tremendous regular seasons, and I
just think, and it's no knocked on, Philip, but it's
about winning a title. It's about winning something, right. That's
the ultimate. Eli didn't win it just once. He won
it twice. He beat that eighteen and old Patriots team
(01:13:21):
with Randy Moss, Tom Brady with all the unbelievable numbers
and everything that went on. Chris, right, it was a
tremendous year. They went on the road, they won in
Green Bay. Go look at the two playoff runs he had.
They were they were really, really good. And it wasn't
like he had a great defense and he didn't have
(01:13:42):
to do anything right. He had to make big throws
and bring them back to win those games, right tom Brady.
Tom Brady threw a touchdown to Randy Moss to give
him the lead, and then it was a throw to
David Tye read it set up for Eli to two.
It wasn't the greatest Pasturs. No, I'm not saying caught
(01:14:03):
it on his helmet. But to Mat, I know where
you're coming from. I really do think. And again, I'm
not sure where I'm at because I don't think Eli
had a Hall of Fame career. But I know how
huge those two Super Bowls were. But I'm skewed by
I was in New York at that time. I was
a part of the New York media. I know how
everything is so blown out of proportion. O j Otis Anderson.
(01:14:24):
He won two Super Bowls with the Giants. There might
be New York and he was huge. He wont a
Hall of Famer. No, Phil Simms won one and Jeff
Hosteller won the other one. When Bill Parcels because Phil
Simms I think got heard and he came in, you know,
or whatever. Hosteler won the second one. But I just
I think if you're really fair and you look at
(01:14:45):
Eli taking down that eighteen and old Patriots team beating
time everybody who wants to know, I don't call Tom
Brady the goat, but all the people say that he's
the goat. Yet Eli is two and on the biggest game.
You know what I mean that that's the speed volume.
It wasn't like Flukey one time. He beat Tom Brady
and that was it. He beat him twice for all
(01:15:07):
the marvels when he had to come back and throw
a touchdown late in the game to win the game.
That's why I give him credit. Peyton Manning's last Super Bowl,
he and the quarterback could have won that Super Bowl.
He didn't. He was terrible Eli, I mean Peyton and
that in that Super Bowl that the Denver defense won
that Super Bowl. It's it's an interesting debate. Actually, hit
us up if you want to throughout the course of
(01:15:28):
the show eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eighty
seven to seven, nine nine, six sixty three, sixty nine.
If you want to weigh in on the is Eli
Manning a Hall of Famer? All right? But before then,
it's the hottest radio show in the country, and I'm
ready to reclaim my clouds. Say, is next a couple?

Chris Brussard and Rob Parker Fox Sports Radio. Guess what
(01:16:55):
it's time for. Sources say, check check check. Sources say,
these two have been covering sports for nearly three decades. Apiece,
I will say this. Let's put the big Jay journalists
to the test. Its sources say, yes, sir, it is.
(01:17:16):
Sources say, we do this every Monday at eight forty
five pm Eastern, where we put one hundred and twelve
years of journalism experiencing the test those years A Rob
or whatever. Rob likes this game now now that I've
been letting him win, we wouldn't stop the game. You
(01:17:36):
were getting battered so much. You wouldn't stopped the game.
If I need a coach last few weeks, I'm good.
Now let's play. All right, let's do it now. For
those you don't know, we have a couple of stories here.
They all sound a little real, a little bit fake.
We got to make sure Chris and Rob can tell
which ones are real and which ones are not, using
their impeccable sources they developed over the years. So story
number one, my sources say, Chrissy, as you know this one.
(01:17:59):
Oscar Dowlahoy have rented out all three levels of the
Chandelier Bar at the Cosmo in Vegas this weekend on Friday,
to celebrate his girlfriend's birthday. My source is good, Chris,
you were in Vegas. I was there. I was partying
with De la Joya. Now you know you aren't party.
What you're talking about media in Vegas. I'm going to
(01:18:21):
say that is false. I'm gonna say it's true. You
sit on a throne of a line taken back my crown. Man.
I'm telling you, Rob, he was in Vegas. This he
told you I saw Floyd Floyd. They were there. They
were doing autograph signings. But uh, I didn't go talk.
You get that? What did you get that information? You
(01:18:42):
just made that up totally. That was all it was. Actually,
he sad her birthday at the bar in Pasadena, which
is not Vegas. Look at your rented out three floors.
I knew he had to what you call it a
number two. Speaking of Floyd Mayweather, my sources say that
he's being sued by a group of people who claim
that he helped promote in a legal cryptocurrency scam that
(01:19:04):
screwed investors out of millions. Robbing. My source is good true.
I think that is false. Nothing. I took. My wife
kicked the door, sources say the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
My sources say that Broncos corner Chris Harris revealed an
(01:19:28):
interview this week that he wears a fitbit during every
game and that he ran over seventeen miles during their
game against the Chiefs on Sunday. Chris and my source
is good. True. I'm gonna say false. Is that a
part of equipment that he could wear a fitbit? You
(01:19:48):
sit on a thrill? Lies? My man. He does wear
the fitbit, but he only ran up just under fifteen,
so he can do it okay. Though he rules on
how much you can fudge things what he'll he'll take
ninety nine percent and one little different believes he's pretty
seventeen miles in the game. That's two miles a difference.
(01:20:12):
Sources say that the Red Wings have been so bad
offensively the past two seasons that Arby's had to change
a decade long promotion that gay fans free curly fries
anytime they had a hat trick. Rob My source is good.
They have been bad. That's that that I hate. I
hate to say that the poor Red Wings are now
(01:20:33):
I'm laughing stop, I'm gonna say that's true. I I
knowing Rob g It's probably wasn't Curly Fries. It was
probably Tater Top or something like that. And that's gonna
but I'm gonna say true. I'm gonna say true. Oh yeah,
I believe it. It's been bad. Hockeytown is uh decade long.
Promotion had to get changed, broke, all right. My sources
(01:20:58):
say that Niners wide receiver Victor Bolden Junior is suing
the company that manufactures his creatine because he says it
cont it contaminated itself with steroids in it that led
him to getting suspended by the NFL. Chris, and my
source is good, Uh nope, false. I say, yeah, what,
(01:21:24):
don't tell me how how many more questions do we have?
Come on? Man? I think I think it's true that
he's gonna put it out there trying to act like
it was something that they did and he didn't do it.
So that's their way of covering up. So I'm gonna
say it is true. We got time for one more.
It's time, it's over. It's over here, we go. I
(01:21:47):
was gonna say the Fox Sports Radio this is just
for fun. Sources say. The Minnesota Timberwolves were alternate jerseys
this year, inspired by Prince with all of the insignia
and logos tenants purple instead of blue. Rob Parker, my
source is good, Chris, what would you pick on this?
I do think that's true? All right, so I'm gonna
go true. Is you true? Oh? Yeah? I thought they
(01:22:14):
were gonna have symbols like this his little symbol. But
what is this like the purple colors? It's just four
or five weeks in a row? What is this four? Yeah?
I don't. It's a white wall four into. We're not
talking about that. You ain't because that's real. This is
just chance. It's a game of It wasn't when he
(01:22:36):
was wanted it every week. Real journalism right here? Hey,
all right, keep it locked. Odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Yes,
it is the Eye couple. I'm Chris Brussar next to
my man, Rod Parker, and as always, we're coming to

rate quote, and Chris, yep, if you're just joining us,
on the odd couple earlier today, we UH wish you
a very happy fiftieth birthday you turn You turn fifty
on Sunday. Yes I did, and I had a nice
(01:23:20):
romantic birthday trip with your wife and Vegas. Right, have
a good time. First time you went to Vegas and
UH didn't get have to get an approval of your
master card to have a good time. Mister Parker. That's
Rob Parker for you. But how do you feeling though
fifty years awesome? As still some big birth? It is?
(01:23:43):
It really is. Um, I'm halfway through my life now
since I'm gonna live to be a hundred. I got you,
you know, but I am young. You a one hundred
and me hundred minus a day, so that I don't
know that a nice guy like you passed away, right, Okay,
I complicated me a hundred day. You know what? I
(01:24:05):
will say this when when I was a little kid.
When I was a little kid, I thought everybody died
at a hundred? Did you? And one of my best
friends when I was living in Cincinnatis, I was probably
six five. He knows bad chili dogs something right. I
don't know what was happening to my brain but my
best friend was a year older than me, and I
(01:24:25):
was always I was like, man, he gonna die a
year before me. What am I gonna do for that year?
I like, well, it's only a year, fast, kid, But um,
I mean I feel young man. I was gonna say,
you feel good? Right? Yeah, I'm still playing basketball. So
(01:24:46):
any y'all that wants something, come get it and you
find me at the courts somewhere around that giving out lessons.
And I also want to mention that the crew that
we worked with every day, Alex and Rob g they
they I wanted to throw money in and go get
you something, and they were like, no, we got the idea.
So they win. Got these uh vegan and what uh
(01:25:08):
donuts or I should say phone nuts, phone nuts? Vegan
phone nuts? Fifty year old shouldn't eat donuts? Is that
real donuts? And the only thing that I guess is
is I guess uh since since he was fifty, is
that why they charged fifty dollars for him? Is that
what it is? Right? Right? These things are wow? But
you know they are very good. They are delicious, they
(01:25:28):
are very good. I'm a big fan. So I'm now
on the phone nuts. Many say no substitution. Yes, they
wouldn't let us do it last minute substitution. And I
do want to thank you guys. That was nice, definitely
very nice. You guys. You guys. You guys make both
Rob and I, you know, appear smart and funny and
(01:25:51):
all that. So y'all do a great job. We're very thankful.
You're welcome. The hardest part is trying to make Rob funny.
But yeah, there you go a bit more and then
lately drum rolls, I got you. But Rob, so since
you didn't chip in on the phone, nuts, No, I'm
gonna bring expect some wings or something. I know you
it's gonna be wings. I'll get you another gift because
(01:26:12):
I talk. I said I would do something that you
you know, you a shoe guy and I'm a shoot
guy too. Some Jordan's like that, Yeah, i'd be down
with some Georgians. Well tomorrow I'm thinking of that. We
might have to do a beat. Yeah, we might be
able to Jordan. That'd be a serious beat, like when
I like, we're serious about like when I beat uh
um Shannon Shannon on the pair of Jordans. We'll do
(01:26:33):
something that. Ye, all right, but of course, the World
Series is all over and the Boston Red Sox made
it happen. All kinds of talk about the Red Sox,
especially on the greatest team ever. They won one hundred
eight games, they beat one hundred win Yankees, they beat
one hundred three Astros and root, they beat the Dodgers
who have won six straight. Uh, Western Division title conference divisions. Um,
(01:26:59):
so are they this greatest team ever? And then there's
all this other talk which I saw on Instagram about
Boston being titletown, that it's the greatest sports town in America.
Look at all their teams and all the winning that
they're doing in Boston, and I want to pump the
brakes on that just a little bit, Chris, I better
(01:27:22):
be just a little bit truth to it. Okay, I
get the Red Sox just won a World Series, but
I haven't won three in a row. Uh. The last
time I looked, the Patriots lost the Super Bowl last year, right,
so they lost Boston. The Red Sox won, the Patriots lost.
I get that the Patriots have won five, but that
(01:27:42):
dates back twenty years five. In the last it is
I'm talking about the Patriots. Yeah, yeah, is it exactly
around all right, team something like that, But I mean
almost twenty YEA and the Red Sox have won what
now what four World Series in the last fourteen to
fifteen years, for fifteen years last year. But then I've
(01:28:03):
seen people throw in like the Bruins they haven't won
since twenty eleven. They also threw in the Celtics they
haven't won since twenty eight that's ten years. So I
can't throw all those in and say that Boston's title
town basketball team. I know they were in the Eastern
(01:28:23):
Conference finals last year, but they didn't win. I hear you.
I mean if you take it literally like they're winning
every other year or something like that, then of course
you're right. But relatively speaking, Rob, you do have to admit,
I mean, Boston got it going on in terms of
(01:28:43):
pro sports. What other city can compete in that regard?
You got the Patriots five in let's just go this century. No,
but but five, they got five championships this century. They're
the team. Okay, let's put it this way. They're the
team of the century in football. No, but the only
duston red size are the team of the century in baseball.
(01:29:04):
The only problem with that, you're right about the Celtics, Chips,
and the Brewers have won eleven. Yeah, they won in
twenty eleven. So what other city can compete with that?
All four of your major sports towns have won a
championship within the last ten years? What other city? I mean,
(01:29:25):
Rob g Am, I missing something a city. I just
think that that's you know, it's all relative, but compared
to every other even the last two championships, they went
ten years without in between super Bowls. Okay, so that's
that's like a whole different era and time, the same
quarterback everybody else. That's the main thing. I look, La,
(01:29:52):
I think you're La. What La? The Lakers last title
was ten, right, eleven? Two thousand and eleven? Yeah, Nah, Well,
I guess the question is, would you consider La Titletown
in the early two thousand with the Lakers in USC
and the Angels winning. Probably not, but they had at
(01:30:15):
least more in a concentrated amount of time than Bob
didn't have half football. You just said it though concentrated.
You can't one was college to me. You can't stretch
out fifteen years, and like, like if you want to
put the Patriots and and the Red Sox together and say, wow, okay,
but when I saw them tack on the Celtics and
(01:30:40):
the Bruins, that's what I said, that's a stretch those
two have but one okay, but just the Patriots twenty years,
that's just the Patriots and the Red Sox is enough?
And then you o yes, because your other two teams
at least have gotten the time. I mean, we were
talking about the Knicks the other day. It's been if
it's gonna be forty what five years since there for
(01:31:04):
this will be their forty fifty six year since they
won the championship because it was nineteen seventy, the Dodgers
in Lake two thirty years now without a championship. All Right,
I don't I don't know. I just don't look at
it the same way. It's Boston. Every other year they're
winning something. But I just been relatively speaking, no major
(01:31:27):
there's no I can't think of a city that has
this type of If I said to you, the Patriots
have won two Super Bowls in the last thirteen years,
is that that impressive to you? When you put it
that way, you see what I'm saying as impressive. But
but that's what it is, though, Chris is what I'm
(01:31:47):
trying to tell. But but but it's also five in
the last eighteen years. No, I know, but that's a
long stretch. But it's the same quarterback and coach. No,
but it's it's ultimately this will all be a part
of the time Brady or Bill Belichick era. Yeah, but
a lot of those players, there's nobody left. It's not
the same to the main too, though those are the
(01:32:09):
main too. There's eight eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox is the telephone eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine. Give us a callege. Yeah, I look,
I'm not I'm no huge Boston fan. I'm no fan
of the city of Boston. But I'm just saying I
have to give them props because they are getting it done.
I mean, I can't. There's no city where all four
(01:32:31):
teams have won a handful of championships this century. Boston
is really the only place that we could refer to
as title town. So I'm willing to give it to him. Yeah,
I just think a lot of them are too spread out,
and I know people like to lump them together, and
I get it. So it's there, so in your I'm
(01:32:51):
trying to there is no title No to me, would
be certainly no place you'd say over in Boston. To me,
it would be like, uh, that year that we talked
about when the Knicks went to the finals and the Rangers,
like if two or three of your teams are in
the champions ninety ninety four, ninety four, Yeah, that was
(01:33:12):
you know what I mean where we're Knicks lost though,
and so did the Rangers? Right? Did they lose that year?
And then they went the Rangers won that year? All right?
So so did the Rangers win that year ninety But
we can't we couldn't call that title town. No, no, no.
But I just think that lumping them all together, I think.
I guess my pushback was when I saw the Celtics
because it's been ten years. I don't know how they
(01:33:34):
could really fit in. That's a long that's a decade
without winning. But I think it's how you define title
town again. Are you saying they're all four of their
teams are winning it every two or three years, or
are you saying, compared to every other town in America,
give you a better one. I give you a better one.
It's boss, No, it's not Golden State. I'll give you
(01:33:55):
that Golden States better, okay, And the Giants won. The
Giants won. The Giants won three World Series and they've
won three championships, right, once or three going on for four?
Right when San Francisco, when's the last time they won it?
Joe Montana was playing, right, No, Steve Young. Yeah, but
I'm just that that that that that wouldn't compare because
(01:34:16):
we're talking about this century, or even if you're not
talking about this century, we have to go way back
for the forty nine Ers title and the Giants. You're right,
they but it's been a long time, right, But I'm
talking about it's what was there's two thousand and five? No,
they won three of them. The last one wasn't that
long ago. We gotta look at the exact year. But no,
(01:34:39):
we're talking about Yeah, when the Giants San Francisco Johns
in ten, two thousand and twelve, twenty fourteen, fourteen. You
see what I'm saying. They got three World Series there.
That's only two of their teams. The forty nine Ers
don't have one. Am I missing to San Jose? Uh?
Just don't want to give Tom Brady and the New
England Patriots any props. No, he's cut to the chase.
(01:35:02):
You are digging deep to find another city, and you
don't even like Golden State, but now you're gonna jump
on Golden States May Wagon eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox. All right, let's go to Blake Blake real
quick in Indiana. Whose Where's title town? Tell the eye couple. Hey,
I'm I'm agreeing with you. Boston is definitely titled town.
(01:35:26):
And I hate all Boston sports. I mean, I'm a
I'm a Miami Dalphins fan, blee hate Tom Brady. But yeah,
I just talking about the Patriots all day. Won two
to both in the last thirteen one of the teams
won two to both. Lest Hey, Blake, all right, Blake,
(01:35:46):
I hear what you're saying. But the Bay Area has
more championships in the last decade. Didn't, didn't Boston? So
that's why they're not title town. And this is the
last The Bay Area has? How many six? Six? Okay?
In Boston has four? Right, they have five? Five? So
(01:36:08):
Golden Areas are all into two teams. What about their
football team? No, but it doesn't matter. They still have
had more. Do they even have a hockey team? Yas
to Saint Jose. What about that wins? The last time
they won, they didn't win, right, So that's the thing
Boston brings every they win football, basketball, base In the
(01:36:28):
last decade, they don't have the most championship Actually the BA.
How you saying four four in the last decade? Last decade?
The last since two thousand and ten to the decade
decade than I said, y'all coming up with Alton the
last decade started in two thousand and eight. No, but
(01:36:50):
they Celtics got one, Okay, they got the Brewers got one.
The just have two? Is it too? Hatreds have two?
Have two? So how many is that? Six? Six and six? Yep? Okay,
So Boston gets to ni because they got four teams
versus two. That's what I said. Hello is this radio?
(01:37:12):
Is this song? Hello? All right? We will continue the
conversation with you. Hit us up at eight seven, seven

the Odd Couple. Let's ahead. Chris, Bruce Aard and Rob
Park on a Metal Monday. Yo, I'm I'm digging your
metal selections. This, I like this, I like this. This
(01:37:57):
is your best metal Monday in my opinion. Thank you.
I actually went into some new stuff, so that's why
I wanted to hit you guys with the new Kids stuff. No,
I actually haven't played them yet. That was the next time.
It really can't there? Were you really just making that up? Yeah?
I can't name a heavy metal group. The ones I
think are heavy metal, come on, metallic. I would say
(01:38:20):
ac DC, but they're not heavy, more like rock. Yeah,
Rush Russia is more like rock too. Yeah. Who I know,
they're not heavy metal. Yeah, it's like Who's classic Rocket? Yeah,
that's that is pretty much. I love this, he said, Panzera,
that's pretty good. Did you really make that up? I
know it. I know it's a shampoo, but I figured
it was also a group. How about Slayer? That is
(01:38:43):
definitely okay? Slayer uh, kiss kisses. No, they're more like
rock too. I'd say, okay, yeah, eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox. Yeah, give us a call if you
want to weigh in on whether or not Boston is
tidal town or if there's another title town. I can't
think of another one. Rob did come up with the
(01:39:04):
Bay Area, which was a good like. I said, yeah,
that was close. That might be the second closest. And man,
when the Warriors went again this year, I'll be over
the top that that will give him seven. That's that's
a good car. All right. We are brought to you
by Discover Card because Discovered Card treats you like you
would treat you. I'm start it off with Todd in Florida.
What's hot one? All right? First of all, Slayers a
(01:39:26):
hair band, y'all? Get your definition, Trader that that's a
what kind of band? That? That's a hair band? That's
not hard rock? Okay, I'll go Nova, Pantera, places like that.
You can stay hard. You know, Rob, I knew it.
I knew it was you really in that, you really
in the medal. I mean I used to be man.
(01:39:47):
I'm old now, Man, I can't hang that. Yeah, get
a headache. I know you get ahead. I'm the guy
who goes to Monti Grad thinks he's still can cutting
his stone in jail, ragging the food. Right. Yeah, but
I got this greatest of all times. I just don't
think you can call one now because the sports changed
so much. Free agents move right, they go around, and
(01:40:08):
it's not a really really organization. It's about how you
can put the card from the deck, that's very true's
not about it's not about a homegrown situation or a
homegown philosophy or something like that. So you know in basketball,
y'all talking about basketball. You know there's some teams today.
If I could go back in time and grab some
of those late nineties early eighties teams, let me tell
(01:40:31):
you something, they'd be a whole lot of concussions walking
out of the arena because those guys can't play the
ball like that. Oh yeah, no, all right, that's that's
a good call. I mean, I would say, say, relatively speak,
because he's right. You know, you're not growing your home
players and having them for ten fifteen. No, it's not
like coming up through your minor league system or or
you drafted them whatever. Hey, but in this day and
(01:40:51):
age holding different Charles in South Dakota. You're on the
odd couple on Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Charles, guys.
So I think it's the way you define title town.
And I think personally, Titletown is whoever wins that year,
that's Titletown and it's one and done. Now, if the
(01:41:12):
way you guys are looking at it, the one thing
that you're missing is that year after year, who's competitive,
who's in there, who's at the championship game, who's at
the super Bowl? And if you want to look at
it that way, then New England hands down, because they're there.
They're there almost every Charles. That's a great point. But
here's one. So no one ever considered Atlanta title town
(01:41:35):
even though they won fifteen. But they won fifteen out
of sixteen. I'm talking about the Braves. They would ever
every year. They're in the playoffs every year, but they
only won one championship. But but when we talk about Titletown,
we're talking about all the sports, or at least the
super Bowl. The Falcons went to the super Bowl. I mean,
(01:41:56):
I get where Charles is coming. I think that's a
good point because the red you know, every year, even
if they might slip up and not make the playoffs,
the Red Sox are generally gonna be in the run
in the hunt. New England is certainly gonna be in
the mix. And that week AFC Austin you can't. The Celtics,
you can't say so, although now they finally got a
good team again. Uh, and then the Bruins, you know.
(01:42:19):
So it's it's interesting. But Dustin in Indianapolis, welcome to
the Eye couple. How are we doing again? Boys? I
was on with you guys last week about the Durant
and Curry situation. All right, brother, thank you for the
call again. Look, Rob, I want to find a way
to agree with you, but he's got it right. He
(01:42:39):
starts got it right. I mean, look at all those
teams in that state that has at least been been
have one Super Bowls or one World Series or one
an NHL hockey Ye, Like, there's only a handful of
states to have that many, uh teams in a state.
I'm trying to I'm trying to think gate a lot
(01:43:00):
of other states that just don't have that opportunity. But man,
it's gotta be Boston. My only thing is that this
stretched out so far though. That's the only thing. I'm
just like, if you had, like if it was like
a four year radius and three or to four, you
know what I mean, you had your teams all one,
There's no doubt about it. It's just that you're trying
(01:43:21):
to pull in the Celtics from ten years ago. That
just seems like that is that really does that really count?
You know what I mean? But they're the closest thing
we have, That's the thing. In this day and age,
They're the closest thing. I have to admit that you did.
You just admitted it. I'm gonna try to I'm I'm anna,
(01:43:43):
and I'm gonna try to push my luck and Tim
Brady's to go and I just go ahead, let's go
all the way. I just I threw up in my
mouth And it had nothing to do with the phone nuts,
because I love the phone nuts. All right. Well, they
we tweeted up, didn't they? The phone nuts? Did they?
I'm sure? Because look, we're given a major problem. Keep
(01:44:05):
sending them our way, phone nuts. We love, y'all. I
might even become vegan, y'all send me enough some of
the other Look, I could be a vegan. You just
got a text from your wife. She said, no way,
no how if I had a chef, a vegan chef
cooking for me, like if I was a pro athlete
and I could hire nutritionists and a chef. Oh, I
(01:44:30):
don't know, man, I've had your vegan porridge that you
had to step it up a little bit, wow, with
a taste, with all with all the cabbage that Chris
saw it has, he could do it now right right,
wait till I went. I went to a vegan restaurant
a few days ago and had vegan uh they called
(01:44:52):
them impossible cigars with meat. I had like a chicken
palm that was vegan, supposedly chicken parm um. I had
a vegan squash, honey nut squash, and um some type
of uh pasta. It wasts. It was delicious. I'm telling you,
(01:45:15):
I just can't. I just need somebody to cook vegan
for me. You think I look good now? Yeah? Oh?
If I had that shoe, watch out Christ Probably people
thinking twenty five right now? My man? Oh man, all right,
I don't know with that gray hair that there's ways
around that though, there's ways around that. Somebody that great
(01:45:38):
for her age. Uh, and she's very young. Dab Carson,
what's trendy? I had to clean that up. I'm sorry, Das,
That's okay, I'll take it. Hey, you know what, Patriots
are not looking terribly great. There's there're nine nothing over
the Bills. But they've just managed three field goals Stephen
Guskowski with a twenty five yard or a forty yard
(01:45:58):
or and a thirty eight yard and the Bills are driving, yes,
and the Bills are driving exactly so clearly this within reets.
But the Patriots up nine nothing over Buffalo two to
go in the second quarter. Guys, we have quite the
game going on in Chicago. It's not so much a
great game, but it's a record setting grain game on
multiple levels for the Warriors. Back to Curry. Curry for
(01:46:21):
three NBA record the Warriors was seventwo threes and a half,
and they set a franchise record with ninety points of
the first half, and they added to that ninety two.
Fifty was a score at the half, so Golden State
sets a new first half record for points with ninety two.
Clay Thompson had ten of the record seventeen threes and
(01:46:41):
Thompson had thirty six first half points and that game
right now, Thompson with forty seven points. Now Warriors are
up one oh eight sixty three at Chicago seven ago
third quarter? Are you gonna score two hundred tonight? That's
all I want to see. I don't think so. Hey,
you never know what they did to the Knicks Friday
night or whatever night that was in the fourth quarter.
(01:47:02):
You remember that score? Seven? Yeah, forty seven. I just
hope Steph Curry keeps playing like this. Steph Curry's old news.
Nobody wants to do that again. That's top because Steph
is out of his mind this year. Thirty four points
a game, Yeah, absolutely, and Clay Thompson again having a
career forty seven forty seven play was due Bays on
(01:47:24):
the average in fifteen points. And he's not all he's
doing shooting? Will you do? You got Kevin Durant taking
up some of the points he'd be hitting, right, Yeah.
It is a fun have a couple of finals. Two
Trailblazers up one h three ninety three at Indiana six
Ers beat the Hawks one thirteen ninety two. We also
have Monday's Discover Card key matchup the Calgary flames up
to nothing. They're visiting the Toronto at Maple Leaf, so
(01:47:45):
they're up to nothing. Six to go in the third period.

It's the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio coming to

insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or call
eight hundred nine four to seven Auto. The only hard
part is figuring out which way it's easier. And we're
(01:48:30):
talking about Titletown. Hit us up at eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox if you want to weigh in.
If you can find a place that is better as
far as winning titles at least this century, better than Boston,
we challenge you to find that and call us all right,
let's go to Joe in West Virginia. You don't think
(01:48:51):
Boston's titletown. Huh No, well, I mean, if you want
to talk about championships from the time, I don't know
if that started until now. Pittsburgh pitch here got six.
I don't know how many titles. The Painiums have one,
and I know the Pirates have only got one or
(01:49:13):
two World Series. Man, give him time. Well, but the
only time, Joe, if you gotta go there, you can
do that. But you could just say the Yankees have
one twenty seven and any other professional team and understanding
the Giants have we gona way that balls? Is that
four super Bowls? Yeah, they wore championships. No, they won
(01:49:34):
the four Super Bowls. Then they won a few champions
NFL championships, right, four the Super Bowl, and then you
got the Jets won a Super Bowl, Scott too, the
Knicks one two, the New York Nets when Doctor j
played for him. We want to do all Islanders won
four in a row in the eighties. I could go
to Rangers have won a couple. So Joe, Joe, he's
he can't do that. Well, I guess he's don't live
in Pittsburgh. He's in West Virginia, but he's within driving us, right, Yeah, yeah, thanks,
(01:49:58):
Joe was good. Try. Nah, we can't go work forever,
and it would be interesting to see what what city
was if we just forever, well, but in New York
to start, well, not numerically would be New York. Yeah,
just my number, just for the twenty six Baseball Championships.
(01:50:19):
But uh, let's go to Matt in Maine. Where's title
town shared with the Ode couple Boston, Massachusetts? Okay, give
us any any any because because yesterday is that what
it is? No, you've got four teams that have won
titles of the last decade compared to what you said
up Golden State in San Francisco. Yeah, I gotta agree
(01:50:42):
with Matt. I don't want to know. They're smart in
Maine too, they Yeah, well they got lobster up there,
so they are smart. Yes, you know what used to
be at one point in time title town for the
NFL Green Bay. Oh yeah, Green Bay, Wisconsin. Not so
much recently though. It's a one title. That's a goodieable
(01:51:07):
to me. They only got one title in the ten
years that Aaron Rodgers started. And let's throwing Bret Brett Farve.
They got two titles, two super Bowls with two of
the all time great quarterbacks that we've seen. Are they
letting they letting these guys down? I mean five? He
let them down a lot too because he threw so
(01:51:29):
many intersects, because because always the playoff games with the
package would end with throwing across his body right and
throwing a bad pick. That's how the playoffs always ended. Well,
we're bringing this up because yesterday, in what has become
just too much of a recurring theme, some of Aaron
(01:51:51):
Rodgers teammates let him down and tie Montgomery rob It's
not only that he fumbled at the end near the
end of the game to deny Aaron Rodgers the chance
they're down to right before the two minutes, we would
have been able to move them and place. He would
have definitely got ye, there's no question. And Mike McCarthy
(01:52:12):
told him to take a knee, let it be a
touchback and let's start at the twenty five yard line
and let Aaron Rodgers would have moved them down and
that would have been a huge win to beat the Rams,
who are undefeated in LA. It would have been such
a confidence boost for the Packers and beyond that. I
(01:52:33):
know it's still relatively early, but the Packers are fighting
for their playoff life, no doubt, and they can't afford
to give away games. But but what you just said
is is this is what happens for whatever reason. I'm
not saying that Aaron Rodgers had lost any games, but
seems like teammates do like that. In that situation, you're told,
just kneel down and we'll get the ball to twenty five,
(01:52:55):
we'll get started. I remember the twenty fifteen NFC Championship games.
You know, Seattle needs the ball back. They're gonna do
an on sidekick. The play was Jordy Nelson is going
to catch the ball. You just block. Not Jordy Nelson
is going to catch the ball. The most shorthanded receiver
on the team. On sidekick comes and they're tight end
(01:53:18):
Brandon Bostick. I mean, Jordy's standing right behind him and
he touches the ball. Seattle got it back, tie the
game and won overtime and cost him a trip to
the Super Bowl. Had Jordy caught that ball, Chris, they're
going to the Super does another Super Bowl? I was wasted.
There've been a couple times when Aaron Rodgers had a
(01:53:39):
chance the failed Mary again against Seattle in twenty twelve,
remembering Golden Tate catches the hail mary pass from Russell Wilson,
the replacement reff that got the deal done. If you remember,
the new refs were back the next week because that
was such a terrible call by the referees. It was
a it was a Monday night game, wasn't It was
(01:53:59):
a national game? And I remember saying, what are they watching?
He had the ball in his hands and he let
Golden They let Golden Tate on the ground, ripped the
ball out and call a touchdown. I never see anything
like it, ye yea. So Aaron Rodgers has had some
bad luck. We could also throw in two thousand and
nine the wild card game against the Cardinals, and you
(01:54:22):
know they just Aaron Rodgers drives them back from score
seventeen old deficit, thirty one ten deficit late in the
third quarter, tied the game at forty five, heading to overtime. Yeah,
and then uh there's a fumble umbling Rodgers sacked by
(01:54:42):
Michael Adams and fumbles the football and it was recovered
I'm gonna return seventeen yards for a game winning touchdown.
So Aaron Rodgers just he's he's also had bad luck
and some teammates have let him down. And yesterday was
another example. This is the type of game. If they
missed the playoffs by a game that you're gonna look
(01:55:06):
back at. There's like three games they had like that. Yeah,
I mean it's amazing. The Minnesota game that ended in
the time, that was a game that they should have
right right. That was the Mason Crosby when he missed
what field goals? Was it five field goals and an
extra point or for four field goals and an extra point?
And at Detroit that was another game they should have won.
And then Rogers has brought them back twice. The opening
(01:55:29):
night or opening game for them against Chicago, they were
down them twenty one nothing or something that game. Look,
he he is a lot of people will say Jared
Goff was saying he's the best quarterback he's ever seen.
I'm telling you, like, not the most accomplished. We've talked
about this, but just skill set and what he brings
(01:55:50):
to the table, what his accuracy with his footwork, escapability
can get out of the pocket, throw the ball on
the run, very accurate, doesn't turn the ball over a lot.
He's got a four to one touchdown the pass radio
ever in the history of the NFL. I mean, those
are all facts. He's been unbelievable. All Right, it's the
(01:56:13):
eye couple of Fox Sports Radio. Keep it locked. We'll

Rob Parker. On this Metal Monday, and we are brought
(01:57:16):
to you by Discover Card. We treat you like you
would treat you. We've been talking about what is it
title town? I think it's clearly Boston. I'm not from Boston.
I'm not pulling for Boston, but I gotta give props
where they are due. And when you look at the
Red Sox, the Patriots, the Celtics, the Bruins, Boston is
(01:57:38):
title town. There's cheating scandals counting, all well, don't count.
We don't care. You didn't care when Manny Machado was
tipping pitches flo, I didn't say, is that not cheating?
Did he get did he get suspended by the legal fine? Like?
Tom's all good? Like that? All right? If you can
do it, Yeah, let's go. Let's let's go to Art
(01:57:59):
real quick in Florida. Let's do that. Are you're in
the odd couple? Fox Sports Radio? What's up Art? Hey, guys,
this an easy question. There's a lot of places that
can claim titletown. Yes, but you got to look at
a place South Beach. First off, that's a win. Oh,
that's definitely a win in terms of sports. Right, But yeah,
(01:58:19):
but you got the heat with their championships. You got
the Hurricanes with their championships, the Florida Marlins with their championships,
the Florida Panthers with their championships. Now that the Miami Marlins,
I know, But you got the Panthers with the what
championships have the Panthers won? Hey, they beat Florida teams,
that's all that mattered. And then then you have the one,
(01:58:41):
the one could have graw that nobody can argue is
there's a team that went seventeen and oz in an
NFL season and won a Super Bowl. Until anybody else
has a zero in the lost column, you gotta give
the props to the Dolphins. There's a bunch of wins
in Miami, whether they were bought for or not. Jeffrey
Lourie bought some World Series. That's a lot of championships
(01:59:01):
in Miami. College and professional. Oh, y'all haven't won a
super Bowl since nineteen seventy three, but they went undefeated
that year. Said, you had arguably the best, arguably the
greatest quarterback of all times, didn't win. He went to
a Super Bowl his second year, never went back. You
(01:59:21):
had um Don Shulo, considered one of the great, all
time great football coaches right coached in Baltimore coaches, and
my Dolphins have just been such an embarrassment lately that
we can't. Yeah, they didn't show up to New England
a few weeks ago. They're just bad. They showed up.
They just bad. They didn't haven't showed up since then.
(01:59:43):
All right, So I think the callers agree with me
that Boston his titles. And look, Rob, I'm not trying
to make Boston title town. It just is what it is.
But last caller said Miami, and of course Lebron James
brought them two titles. Lebron is playing the night he
and the Lakers are at Minnesota. I think it's a
one point lead over the Timberwold. The Lakers are leading,
(02:00:05):
but Lebron struggling the night. Huh, well, he's got fourteen
points or how many on thirteen shots? I bet you
hadn't had a lot of shots. How many? About seven?
But uh what? What what are you trying to get at?
You know me, I'm all in on six to fourteen's.
They got fourteen points and seventeen points fourteen that's gonna
(02:00:29):
assist six three pounds. You say that like, because you
another night you were saying that twenty two points on
twenty two shots. Yes, but fifty percent and scored twenty
two points on twenty two shots. If you go eleven
for twenty two, that's twenty two points if there are
all two pointers. No, but that's not what you expect
when a guy gets twenty. But I'm just saying, like,
(02:00:51):
that's not a bad night. Eleven for twenty two, twenty two,
and he usually takes you a shot to get a point.
If you shoot, you're just asking from the floor, that's
a good night. You know that kind of math they
teach you in Detroit. I don't know. I don't know
where I would us to use my fingers, but I
couldn't always get there. But Lebron, look to your point,
(02:01:13):
Lebron James is not off to a Lebron James start
this season. He's too busy doing the movie stuff until
he's wanting to be Meryl Street. I know I've heard
it like ninety seven times. Sorry, well you only gotta
here for four more years until in La and then
I'll change. But he look, if you because I throughout
look this year might be the year that the question
(02:01:38):
is legitimately asked, is Lebron James still the best player
in the world? What you're talking about, Chris, What are
you saying now? I'm just saying right now, if he
keeps playing like this, and he's not playing bad, he's
playing like a an all Pro player. Twenty seven points,
nine rebounds, I believe, eight assist so he's still putting
up nice numbers. But he is not been the best
(02:02:00):
player in the league. It's early. I'm not ready to
make a definitive statement, but do you think he's still
the best player in the world. Kevin Durant did something
the other night at Madison Square Garden that caught everybody's attention.
Would you agree, I'll score the Knicks in a game
that was close up to three quarters, right, and then
by outscored them. No, I know they're bad, but that's
(02:02:24):
still an impressive And Nick should be playing in the
Big East, you know what I mean, the Big East
for a whatever. Yeah, Big East doesn't even want them.
But no, I think Durant's making headway. I really do,
and I think I think he has a chance, depending
on what happens, if he would be able to win
the season, MVP and then when the finals MVP again,
(02:02:45):
when it's third in the role. Three straight finals MVPs,
that would be impressive. That's an impressive resume that you
just can't poo pool. I don't care Lebron or not.
Am I right, no, no question, but look for right now,
in my mind, for my money, Lebron is still the
best player in the world. But I'm it's only six games.
Like I said, I'm not going to make a definitive statement,
(02:03:07):
but I'm watching because as you mentioned Durant, how about
Steph Curry. The way he's playing. I think Durant's better,
but Steph is killing. Uh. You got Yannis Hotela, Kombo,
you got, you got Anthony Davis coming up and Kawhi Leonard.
