Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is straight Fire with Jason McIntyre.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
What is up? Straight Fire? Paye, It's me Jason McIntyre,
Straight faw Yer or Monday, October the twentieth, Oh my goodness,
what a weekend in football college football. We're not going
to do it today, but they're firing guys left and right.
Nobody's safe. NFL favorites dominated early and the dogs were
(00:34):
barking late. Not much chaos and survivor. I'm actually gonna
you know, there isn't really a dominant theme in the NFL,
So I'm gonna start with my weekend. I think I
hyped this before, but I entered my first South Asian
basketball tournament. AKA is just you have to be Indian
to play in a Pakistani India. Whatever denomination of Indian
(00:55):
you are, you can play. And I flew to Phoenix
to play with the team.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
It was so fun.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Oh my gosh. I just have to say, I wish
I had known about these kinds of things like ten
years ago, I would have been playing every year. Have
a stack team, blah blah blah. We had a great
group of guys. I mean I had not met five
of the guys on our team, or five but it
was still a lot of fun. We had an amazing
So we're a little on the older side, and we
(01:21):
put a lot into the Into the opener, we were
playing this team from Indiana. I mean this was in
We traveled to Phoenix, not far, but there were teams
from Canada, Indiana, Seattle, like all over the country. It's crazy.
And we're playing these guys and we're leading by like nine.
They start full core pressing us. We start turning it over.
They take a lead, We stormed back in the final minute.
(01:43):
We win it in double overtime. So now this is
a tournament, so double overtime, we went buy one and
we're just drained. You know that meme of like the
burger king worker ladies sitting outside on a bench like exhausted.
That was that was us after one, Gabe, so I
was like, oh, we have to play these high school kids.
We blow this lie against them and lose. It was
kind of dispiriting because they weren't that good. A lot
(02:04):
of high school kids on their team in college. And
then in the third game we had to play this
tough team and they were up like twelve. We stormed back.
I hit a three to put us to put us
up too, and I'm like going crazy. You know, it
is exciting, it's fun, but again, like my body's starting
to fall apart and ends up this guy they make
two prayer prayer threes and end up beating us. So,
(02:26):
you know whatever, And we didn't have a great seed
for the knockouts. And I wake up after three games
of basketball. You guys you might wear like an aura
ring or a whoop or whatever. I checked the whoop
and basically it was like, you're dead. You have no
nothing left in the tank. So I didn't have much left.
On Sunday, our team was just exhausted. We got blasted
by a pretty good team from Atlanta, and I'm like
(02:46):
to this guy, I'm like, yo, how old are you guys?
He's like, oh, I'm twenty. And I'm sitting here like, yeah,
you know, next time, I aanner, We're gonna have to
get some some young guys. But we had a great
group of dudes. A couple guys from Arizona joined. One
of them drove us around so so nice, Like it
was just it was fun. There wasn't a lot of
like fights. I didn't see any major injuries, which is
always a big plus, but it was definitely a different experience.
(03:09):
Now here's the best part. By getting eliminated early, I
was able to get on an early flight, and I
haven't flown Southwest a lot. Guys. They got like actual TV.
I'm able to watch NFL games on Southwest. I know
you could laugh at me for not knowing that I
can't stand Southwest, but I'll be able to watch the games.
I didn't miss a beat watching the NFL. Now, not
(03:29):
missing a beat is fine, but the problem is, there
weren't any really beats to miss, Like there was not
a in Survivor. It looked like there could have been chaos. Right,
Denver nearly lost as a touchdown dog. We'll get to
that game. The Packers were on the struggle bus for
a little bit as a touchdown favorite. I'm sorry. Denver
was a favorite, and so it was Green Bay. They
(03:51):
were favorites and they pull it out. But otherwise, like,
I don't know if anybody got eliminated from our survivor pool,
which has like four hundred and seventy five people left,
and the payout is significant. So we had the Chiefs.
The Chiefs rolled. I guess the Chiefs are becoming a story.
Damn it. I hate that, you know, I do. I
(04:11):
guess we should start with Sunday Night football, just because
the takeaway is pretty simple. Christian McCaffrey looked as good
as he looked all season. Mac Jones gets George Kittle
back and the forty nine ers win kind of a
slobber knocker. It wasn't like that great of a game.
But I think the easy takeaway is right. We just
saw Atlanta indoors against Buffalo on Monday, and Atlanta looked
(04:33):
incredible up and down the field on the Buffalo Bills
and they look like a track team. Right. You got
Drake London out there catching everything, b Jon Robinson in space,
it's over. But then you put Atlanta outdoors and they
didn't really do much. Now, they did have a screw
up at the end of the half where they were
trying to get a field goal. Hennix threw it away
but put too much air under it, so by the
(04:54):
time it landed it was right on ten seconds. Intentional
grounding tense I can run off into halftime, so that
cost them three and then late in the game, fourth
and three down three aggressive Raheem Morris says, we're going
for it. You know, we want to try to get
a touchdown and win this sucker, not just tie it up.
And they fail on fourths and three Niners come down
and get a touchdown. That's a rap. But Atlanta, clearly
(05:18):
outdoors versus indoors, is just they're two different teams. They
remind me they Atlanta Falcons remind me of the Miami Dolphins.
Warm weather Miami Dolphins, you know, with Tua and McDaniel
and Tyreek a couple for a couple of years when
they were really rolling. They're good in warm weather calendar
Jersey November December. You got to put them outside. They
ain't winning anything like go to January. They're not winning
(05:40):
playoff games. That team's just not built for. I don't
know if Atlanta can go outdoors and win a playoff game. Now.
The good news is they get to host Miami this
week indoors, so they should be back scoring a lot.
Miami is absolutely terrible, and by the time you listen,
there's there's a chance Mike McDaniel's fired. They do have
to go outdoors to the Patriots, but they get two
(06:01):
more indoor games. Colton Panthers indoor road game against the Saints.
They'll struggle at the Jets, and then they go outdoors
to Tampa indoors to the Cardinals. I mean, they really
only have like four outdoor games left. So I think
the Falcons are in kind of good shape. I think
they're a playoff team. Obviously, we need my main man,
(06:23):
Michael Penno's healthy. But overall, like b Jon Robinson looked
like the MVP in the league against the Bills indoors
and then last night he has like forty yards rushing.
You know, it's just a totally different teams, rob I mean,
I don't want to say I can't take Atlanta seriously.
I think they're a nine or ten win team. But
it's just a fact of the matter that they're not built.
Their offense is not built for outdoors. That's just my take.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
Yeah, I think that's fair to say. And the other
thing I think is fair to say is they're only
going to go as far as their inconsistent quarterback can
take them. And so far, between coaching and quarterbacking, the
Atlanta Falcons are like Jekyll and Hyde right now. Like
you just look at what they've done over the last
few weeks like, Hey, they got wins over the Vikings
(07:07):
where they dominated JJ McCarthy and company followed up by
losing thirty nothing to the Panthers. They bounced back, they
beat the Commanders by seven, they beat the Bills by ten,
and now going against a shorthanded team in San Francisco,
and I know they end up losing by ten. It
didn't ever feel like it was that close, Like it
(07:27):
just felt like San Francisco was the better team throughout
the night. And until you can see I don't want
to pile on on this one play, but you and
I were texting during the game, and fourth and one,
Atlanta goes shotgun and rather than handing the ball off
the Bajon Robinson RV the best running back in football,
(07:48):
or even Tyler else here, who's a really good NFL
running back, they run a speedout which is incomplete, and
that's basically the ballgame because they don't have any other options.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
They were never really in.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Position to get to retie the game up because the
nine didn't march around the score the next touchdown. So
I just don't know what they are And that might
be the theme of the NFL season. There's so many
teams out there where it's like are you good or
are you you know, good one week bad the next.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
It's just really confusing.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
I think Washington falls into that bucket. They had a
major scare and we'll find out more probably tomorrow. Jaden
Daniels goes down with a knee injury. They're talking mri
Now Daniels has already missed some time this season, and
now he goes down again. And oh, by the way,
he was playing without his top three receivers, Noah Brown,
(08:38):
Deebo Samuel and Terry McLaurin. Washington gets absolutely spanked by Dallas.
And I know that there are only three and four,
but the Kansas City Chiefs are on deck, and if
you don't have Jaden Daniels, you're losing that game. Even
though it could be a Marcus Mariota start and he's capable,
but on his first drive filling in for Jayden, tried
(09:00):
to do something spectacular, ends up throwing a sixty eight
yard pick six. So if you dropped to three and
five right with the loss of the Chiefs, and then, oh,
by the way, you host the Seattle Seahawks, they're better
than you are. I think Seattle. Seattle be favorite on
the road, I don't know, that's a toss up game.
And then you host the Detroit Lions. These are all,
(09:21):
by the way, all primetime marquee games. So the Chiefs
game is Monday Night football, the Seahawks game is it
might be oh no, it's Sunday Night football. Yes, they're
Sunday Night Football. And then the Lions game is the
four pm Big one on Fox. So those three games
will determine the season for Washington. By the way, if
you lose those three and fall to three and seven,
(09:43):
it's over because you still have to play the Eagles twice.
We don't know what Denver is. We'll get to them.
You got to go overseas for a game in I
want to say Madrid or something against Miami. Minnesota should
be presentable. And the Giants, I think we can officially
call them plucky and yes giants fa yes, yes, yes,
I was way too harsh and I was wrong. But botto,
(10:04):
I think Washington's cooked. Rob I mean, they're gonna get
guys back, but the schedule is absolutely brutal. And if
we're being real right now, the Dallas Cowboys are a
better team than Washington. I don't. I think that's pretty
much inarguable.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
Yeah, Dak Prescott is really giving off twenty twenty four
Joe Burrow vibes where it's like, hey, if their defense
was even average, oh, that's an MVP candidate quarterback right there.
Like Dak Prescott is quietly playing the best ball in
football right now. Like if his team were well, I
(10:37):
think that the Bucks are what five and one, Like,
if he's that five and one, four and two like
Baker Mayfield, then we're talking about Dak Prescott for the MVP.
But the defense is so bad that every game he's
in a shootout. Safe for yesterday, And it's like, I
think I saw a stat on Sunday. I think Edwurder
put it out that the Dallas Cowboys have scored forty
(10:58):
plus points three times already this season, Like wait, what
you know? Forty points is not for nothing in the
NFL and they've done it three times and I think
there's still not even a winning record, Like that's incredible
what they're doing.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Yeah, I have in my notes all four times sorry,
three times they went over forty was at home, forty
against the Giants, forty against the Packers forty against Washington
and that's huge. Yeah. And with with cd lamback, you know,
first half five catches, one hundred and ten yards in
a touchdown. Yeah, he's back.
Speaker 1 (11:27):

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Washington Secondary not good. I think Washington's done for the
season and it's kind of giving CJ. Stroud in Houston.
Remember there was a regression second year. They still made
the playoffs, but they got bounced. They weren't really like
a threat. It was easier to make the playoffs in
the AFC and one of the worst divisions of football.
You're not making it Washington this year. I don't see
it happening in this Jaden Daniel's injury, I'm not ready
(12:02):
to call him like injury prone. He is on the
skinnier side. Maybe this was unlucky, but two in a
season not great. And remember they upgraded, upgraded their line
getting Laramie Tunsel. I haven't seen numbers on how bad
they are. We'll have to wait for when the grades
come out. I guess Tuesday. But if you're a Washington fan,
you are definitely not feeling good now in the division.
(12:24):
I'll just say this, I don't mind admitting when I
was wrong, and I'm shocked at how competitive the New
York Giants were against Denver. The New York Giants should
have won that game. They were the better team for
I don't know, fifty of the sixty minutes, and then
you know that the final ten minutes were just an
unmitigated disaster for Brian Dabole. But Denver squeaks it out
(12:45):
thirty three, thirty two. Surely you've seen the highlights by now.
I'm not gonna pick on Jackson Dart for that interception
that kind of flipped the game. He was trying to
make a play. I don't know. I don't know that
Denver's any good. I know that record says five and two,
so you gotta think they're good. But ah, just say this.
I mean, Jackson Dart only completely like forty five percent
of his passes fifteen and thirty three, but two hundred
(13:06):
and eighty three yards eight point six yards per attempt.
He was not dinking and dunking three touchdowns. Okay, these
are the guys he was targeting one Dale Robinson, Daniel Bellinger,
Theo Johnson, the tight end who scores every week, and
of course mister scataboo folks. I was floored, obviously. I
was loaded up on Denver had him in the contest.
(13:28):
Contest not good, one in three pending the Lions tonight
pissed and I just I look at this giant Seamo.
I'm like, how is he completing passes? Now? Denver was
a bit of a shit shill themselves. I think it
was a twelve penalty, Yeah, twelve penalties for a buck
twenty seven. That's not gonna cut it. You're not gonna
win games. Was there a hangover coming back from London?
Speaker 1 (13:49):
Perhaps?
Speaker 2 (13:50):
But they were sloppy in all facets and Dart got
got lucky, a couple bounce balls bounced his way and
next thing you know, it's nineteen to zero. I did
see video of the Giants who led with like thirty
seconds left, and then the Giants decided we're not going
to rush anybody. Brian Burns was pissed about it afterward.
Why are we rushing three? What the hell? And bo
(14:11):
Nick's just completed two passes, big bag Boom and my guy,
my fantasy kicker Will Luttz comes through. I don't know
if Denver's good, but that was a huge win because
the Chargers lost and the Chiefs are coming on strong.
Denver needed that. Again, Rob, it's weird people think this
win like, oh, you gotta win, it means you're awesome. No, no, no, no,
you can extrapolate things. Yes, winning ugly matters. They want
(14:34):
ugly against the Titans, they want ugly against the Jets,
and they won ugly against the Giants.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Wins are wins.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
What I like, Rob, is they came back from down
fourteen against the Eagles on the road in the fourth quarter.
They came back down I think it was nineteen zero
in the third quarter and they came back and won
with a thirty three point fourth quarter. So you know,
the grit that it takes to to never quit and
come back. Those are huge. Obviously, you can't do that
(15:05):
every week and be successful. It's not sustainable. But the
fact that they can pull those off it is a
good thing. I'll just say though, Rob, that game next
week against the Cowboys is gonna be very interesting. Oh
my don't I don't know. I haven't you know, because
it wasn't a great Sunday for me betting. Thank you
Broncos for the teaser protection. Teasers are good again. Uh
(15:26):
but like I just I don't know what to make
of this Broncos team other than good. But you know,
bo Nicks has a great comeback, but he for three
and a half two and a half quarters, Rob he
was kind of doodo.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Yeah, you know, I saw a tweet from a Broncos blogger.
I mean, I don't know exactly who he works for,
but it got put in my feed somehow, and he
said five and two with zhero and six vibes, Like
that's the way that they feel about their team right
now in Denver.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
The comebacks are great.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
You mentioned it now. They have two wins this season
after trailing by fourteen plus points in the fourth quarter.
The rest of the league has just two combined. They're
only the fourth team in the last twenty years to
accomplish that and we're not even what a third of
the way through the season. Like this could absolutely happen
again with the way that they play.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
But to your.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Point, you can't survive like that through the course of
the NFL season. You cannot expect that you're always going
to be able to flip a switch or have something
break your way, like on Sunday where the Giants kicker
misses an extra point that would have made it a
three point game, where the best you would have done
there is tie rather than win. Like, you can't count
(16:37):
on that kind of stuff happening all the time. And
so for Denver, you mentioned a few minutes ago about
Jayden Daniels and his trajectory not being linear, that he's
kind of taking a step back a little bit, and
especially relative to what he did his rookie season, bo
Nicks has done the exact same thing. The difference is
that his team is winning and people are not going
(16:58):
to talk about it because of the way that he
finished it year on Sunday when he goes off for
what three hundred and twenty plus yards and four total
touchdowns and I believe all four of his touchdowns came
in the fourth quarter, So everyone's gonna talk about, well, Bonegg,
look at this guy, like how Grady is look what
he's doing, and it's like, well, let's pump the brakes
a little bit. Your team is winning, but they don't
look good doing it at all. And if I'm Sean Payton.
(17:22):
The first thing I'm doing is saying, hey, great win,
should resiliency. I love the grit, I love all that stuff,
the testicular fortitude of our bunch, but our execution sucks.
And if we have any aspirations of making some real
noise in the AFC where the Chiefs are coming right now,
you know, we'll see what happens. I know this is
a pipe dream. When Lamar Jackson comes back next weekend,
(17:42):
they can get to another pipe dream. But like, what
is it that we're going to be able to do
if we are going to be taken seriously as a
threat in this conference?
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Yeah, it's interesting you bring on the Chiefs. And yes,
I will talk about the Chiefs because I was the
one all offseason who said no playoffs, schedules too tough,
blah blah blah. This was a pencil win. We knew
they were going to beat the uh beat the Raiders,
sorry Rob g Er Raiders. I just saw a stat
that they ran thirty offensive plays and they we suck.
What the hell? Listen, I know the Jets are bad.
(18:11):
Thirty plays, like, Dad, come on, what did they even do?
He did thirty plays for ninety five yards. Did Brock
Bowers player though.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
No Bowers or Jacoby Myers not play.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Yeah, So I mean at this point, I think you
got to start selling guys off and make make whatever
you can in draft picks, ship them to contenders. That
being said, obviously, the Chiefs looked good. Thirty one nothing
very complete performance from Mahomes. Hey, listen, I drafted Mahomes
on my fantasy team. I had Rashi Rice drafted as well.
The Chiefs. You just shouldn't see in the first quarter. Oh,
(18:43):
this is this is game over. You know, Mahomes going
up and down the field, three touchdowns. I mean, he's
having a great season. And now you add Rashi Rice
to the mix. Let me count how many guys caught passes?
Kelsey Rice, Rashad Smith, Taekwan Thorpe Juju's did it Worthy,
Noah Gray, Hollywood Brown, Pacheco, nine different receiver. That's a
lot of weapons for the Chiefs. I was excited. I'm
(19:07):
not gonna make any bold proclamations. Come on and win
over the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Give me a break.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Raiders stink. But at four and three, now you visit
the commanders. If no Jaden pencil in the win that's
five and three, and then the big showdown in Buffalo
and then they get to buy and then they come
out of that at Denver, and then that Colt game
actually looms large so and then the Cowboys game and
then the Texans. I'm just the schedule is tough, guys.
(19:33):
I'm not gonna lie. So we could say, oh, the
Chiefs are the best team. Go ahead you want to
if you take to the best team, go ahead and
bet them. I did bet no playoffs, probably not, probably
not gonna happen. I didn't think Lamar would get hurt.
I do think Lamar and the Ravens probably still make
the playoffs. That being said, like, I don't know, are
two teams coming to the out of the AFC South
(19:53):
three out of the West. I don't think Pittsburgh. We
discussed it well, I discussed it Friday. I don't think
Pittsburgh's going anywhere. And now you got Miami falling off
the mat, but the Patriots are back up. So, as
you guys know, football is weird. I can say whatever
I want about the Chiefs or the Broncos, but I mean,
what about the New England Patriots. I said it last
week on the Herd. I think they've got the inside
(20:14):
track for the number one seed. They were in a
bit of a dog fight with Tennessee yesterday and then
cam Wore did his like swing the arm back to
throw and fumbleth two weeks in a row. I'm like, bro,
not good. And now they get the Browns at home.
We know the Browns are not as good on the
road as they are at home. They were great at
home on Sunday as predicted, but you look at the schedule.
(20:38):
They get the Falcons outdoors. I mean they get they
still have the Jets. They're gonna face Joe Flacco of
the Bengals, not not Joe Burrow. I think this Patriots
seems scary of I don't know that they can go
to the super Bowl, but I do think getting the
number one seed is well well within reach for the
(21:00):
New England Patriots.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Yeah, credit to you and and and Collin, because you
guys have been on that train, maybe not to the
extent that you are now, but early on you guys
a say, hey, this team is poised to kind of
make some noise this season. And I didn't believe it,
especially after a week one where my Raiders put it
on them, you know, pretty soundly. That was the last
bit of optimism we've had here in Vegas. But Drake
May I was reading an article in the Athletic on Friday,
(21:25):
and there are NFL evaluators and scouts and gms across
the league that have already a pinpointed him as like
the next elite guy, And now I thought it was
going to be Jade Daniels. But because of what happened
last season that there was like, okay, well you have
your big four, you know, whatever, you put Justin Herbert, wherever,
you put Jalen Hurst, whatever, but the next young guy
(21:45):
is going to be Jade Daniels, right, And if you
read the article, what they said was Drake May has
always had all the traits, Like his traits are even
better than Jaye and Daniels. His traits are right up
there with Caleb Williams Turn of last year class, a
couple of years draft class. The difference with him was
would he ever be able to learn how to play
the quarterback position, like, you know, make good decisions, not
(22:08):
always try to be the big man on campus showing
off the arms, drinks, showing off the arm talent, and
Josh McDaniels, as terrible as he was as a head coach,
has done a phenomenal job bringing Drake May along in
terms of playing classic quarterback, because most of the time,
if you watch him play, he's hitting the five yard slant,
(22:30):
he's hitting the seven yard out, he's dumping it out
of the backfield. You know, he's hitting the tight ends
a lot. Hunter Henry's been a big guy in fantasy,
but like maybe twice a quarter he's gonna unleash a
thirty five yard bard and he throws the deep ball
as good as anybody in the NFL. And so when
you can sprinkle that in where it's like we're not
(22:50):
always gonna be Yolo, We're not always gonna be early
Josh Allen, where it's highlight touchdown interception one, like one
of the three is gonna happen. He's control the ball,
controlling the clock, and then every once in a while
to keep you on his bang. Here's a thirty five
touch yard touchdown to Stefan dis Here's a forty yard
touchdown to Keyshan Boute, like he is looking really really good.
(23:13):
And to say that they could have end up with
the one seed I thought would have been blasphemous as
recently as like three weeks ago.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
And then you look at their schedule.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
You mentioned it the last year before thereby is Jets, Bengals, Giants,
and then they close the season Jets Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
It's like shit, man like.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
Teams with interim coaches exactly, Like this is really shaping up.
And again, I don't know if they're a good team
or not, but this is really shaping up where you
don't have to be good if your schedule works in
your favorite and you beat the teams you're supposed to beat.
Twelve thirteen, fourteen wins is right there for the taking.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Yeah. I mean it's interesting because they're doing it without
a traditional number one receiver, and usually if you don't
have a number one receiver like Mahomes didn't you got Kelsey.
You know, I don't even think Hunter Henry's elite tight end.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
He's good.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
I just wonder, Rob, do you either at the at
the deadline or neck in the offseason, do you think
they splurge for a wide receiver or is that like noa, no, no,
We're not doing that diva shit. I don't want to
bring in some guy who's a hired gun. But you
could be you could be like, hey, it is DeVante
a diva. I know it ended poorly with the Raiders
(24:28):
and also kind of sort of with the Jets, but
it He's like, not really one of these bad locker
room guys, Like, can you imagine a DeVante Adams with
Drake May Now I don't know where they go for that,
you know.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
Just for anybody who would push back on that quickly,
the Patriot way says, no, we don't go for a
splurge wide receiver. You know, we had Randy Moss one
time and then other than that, we don't do that. Right, well,
that regime is gone. Bill Belichick is not there anymore
to totally get get that out of your mind that
we don't do that kind of stuff. Do you remember
how how pissed off Mike Rabel was when the Titans
traded away AJ Brown. So if anybody is I would
(25:07):
imagine open to the idea of getting a diva wide receiver,
who's gonna be a difference maker, it would absolutely be
Mike Rabel.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
I mean, cowboys went out and got pickens and they've
got I mean, their offense can hang with anybody. It
doesn't always work. Stefan Diggs didn't totally work in Houston.
He did get injured. Baltimore has kind of sort of
gone with like, who's the d hop They gave a
shot to him. I think they tried Odell they did.
He got hurt, Like everybody does it. You just have
(25:36):
to find the right guy who's not going to be toxic. Like,
hey Man Pickens could go out and earn a big contract,
would you go after Pickens if you were New England?
I mean, he looks amazing, but we know how it
ended in Pittsburgh. There's no easy answer to this.
Speaker 1 (25:53):

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Let's just be upfront about it. Yes, I like the Jets. No,
no matter how many dms you send me on ig
guys about how bunch of Jets suck. I don't care.
People rob people tweet at me all the time. Yeah,
but the Jets are dogshit and I'm just like that.
I'm aware of that. It does I'm not one of
(26:28):
these guys whose feelings get hurt if you make fun
of my favorite sports team. You know, I know you're
triggered if I say something negative about the Chiefs or
the Lions or whoever. But let's just keep it real.
I don't care. I know the jetstak. You're not telling
me something I don't know. They're zero to seven. Justin
Fields got benched. He had like forty yards passing in
(26:49):
the first half. He holds the ball way too long.
All those kind of harsh comments about his slow eyes
in the draft process, they're clearly spot on because he
don't want to make a mistake. And now he's eating sacks. Okay,
Aaron Glenn looks like he's in over his head, Tyrod Taylor,
that ain't it, you know. I mean, I'm just waiting
for the Jets to start selling off some guys like
(27:12):
I can't believe I didn't take the Panthers in the contest.
It was so easy. It was like, even though the
Panthers didn't run away and hide, the Jets without Garrol
Wilson are totally inept. They don't know what they're doing.
And I'm fine with that. We're gonna hit rock bottom.
We're not there yet. I mean, Rob, if you looked
at the schedule, like I'm not, They're not gonna be
(27:32):
favored the rest of the way. I'm not saying they're
going to go in seventeen, but honestly, I punted on
the season already. I knew it was not gonna go well.
They had a five and a half win total in
Vegas was one of the three lowest in the league.
They faced Jake Browning neck I'm sorry, no Joe Flacco next,
who they know because I think he was on the Jets.
He's been on every other team in the AFC they
(27:54):
host the Browns. Browns are susceptible. Dylan Gabriel, who knows
they ain't winning at the Patriots. Lamar will be back like, yeah,
the Jets could go one in sixteen or ozh and seventeen.
I don't know. But it doesn't really matter because all
I'm doing, Rob is Saturdays, we are not playing in
basketball tournaments. I'm analyzing the quarterbacks, like Carson Beck. Did
you see him on four interceptions?
Speaker 1 (28:16):
He was terrible.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Miami lost Friday night to Louisville, which we gave out
here on the Pod. Louisville getting points, not money line,
but Beck looked awful. It was like, oh, I mean
Dante Moore didn't have a great game against Indiana, but
he's a younger quarterback. Beck's a veteran dude in Louisville's defense,
sing shit, the guy I like is my guy. I've
hitched my wagon to Ty Simpson. But that's all that.
That's where my excitement lies. Okay, how are we gonna
(28:39):
how are we gonna build this up? You know, just
give me a Drake bay Rob? Is that too much
to ask for? Can I have a Drake May? Can
I get a Justin Herbert in the draft? Okay? As
much as I liked handsome Zach Wilson, listen that the
Mormon Mahomes remember that nickname was fashionable for like a
year that it didn't take. We can't wait on that again.
(29:00):
I know, I know you're feeling down on the doubts
because you know, Smith looks like he's cooked as an
NFL quarterback, and it's hard to find him in the draft. So,
I mean, you guys had Derek Carr, you thought you
had the answer. I mean, he didn't do anything and
then he retired, So it's hard to find a quarterback
the Jets don't have one. It's not the end of
the world for me. But Rob like, if people dig
(29:21):
dig on your Raiders, like, do you get butt hurt?
Speaker 3 (29:24):
No?
Speaker 4 (29:25):
Yeah, I mean I was walking around at the streets
of LA on Sunday wearing my Raiders shirt. I saw
the snickers, like I saw the little of this guy.
And the Chiefs pulled their starters in the third quarter.
That's what it's not there? Good to your team is
the third quarter? Yeah they didn't even they My almost
had three hundred and twenty plus yards and you know,
in three quarters of work, So it tells you, you know,
how good my team is. The this Jets thing is
(29:50):
so weird because it's one thing to hit your wagon
at Justin Fields, who has been dumped now by every
team that he's played for, and you know, the assessment
of him going out of college is the same as
it is.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Whatever. Now six years in the league.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Five six years in the league, can't process well, doesn't
see the field well. Great athlete, great tools, but cannot
play quarterback at the NFL level. And for whatever reason,
the Jets decided, hey, well we got to give this
guy twenty million dollars a year. Like, well, who else
was giving him twenty million dollars a year? Like who
were you bidding against that? You thought you had to
overpay to get him, and then you make it so
(30:26):
much worse. Now again, I agree with you. Bringing back
Aaron Rodgers would have been the bad decision. I don't
think you're horrible. Yeah, it wouldn't have worked out. But
the way it has been reported to go out of
your way to disrespect Aaron Rodgers so you could bring
in Justin Fields is something that even the most staunched
Jets defenders be like, yeah, that's probably not the best
(30:48):
move because we don't even think, we don't even know
we're getting upgrade at quarterback. It's not like we're dumping
Aaron Rodgers and we're bringing in I don't know, fucking
Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Dam Darnold d darn or whoever. Yeah, I don't know whoever.
And it's just it's just bad.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
And my only pushback with you, and for me, as
a matter of facts, a Raider fan because he got
you know, Smith, and I'm sure moving Mark for a
quarterback is you say, why can't I get a Drake
may or why can't I get it? Justin Herbert, Like,
you picked two of the most physically talented quarterbacks to
have come out of the draft in the last ten years. Well, like,
maybe we need to reevaluate what I said Jade and Daniels. Yeah,
(31:26):
Like no, it's like, where's my uh oh god, I
don't want my back, where's my mac Jones?
Speaker 2 (31:33):
No, I don't want that. His first team moved off
of them. But it's interesting you say twenty million dollars. Okay,
So I just looked at the biggest cap hits for
quarterbacks this year. Dak has won at fifty Stafford two
at forty seven. You gotta look for Justin Fields. He
checks in at thirty first at eight million. Interestingly, Tyrod
(31:53):
Taylor is thirty second at six point eight million. Now
you'll see a lot of quarterbacks like Pennix McCarthy a
Daniels in that area because they're rookies. But like Marcus
the Mariota's eight million, he's the backup. The only guys
behind them, Like, there's nobody. I can't even fault them
for going after Fields, you know, Like, what are the
(32:13):
other options, Jamis Winston, Jimmy Garoppolo, Like, I don't think
those guys would have them at one or two wins.
So you really, you're you're you're screwed. All you gotta
do is, you know, go get a quarterback in the draft,
which sounds easier said than done. I totally didn't miss this,
rob but uh, obviously Friday night show, he O Tani
(32:34):
put on an amazing show. One one for the books.
Three home runs, one of them I think left the
stadium maybe, yeah, and then he had ten strikeouts and
I think six shutout innings or something like that in
one of the all time performances. So Dodgers advanced to
the World World Series. Who are they gonna play? Is
the question? Well, last night, while you guys were watching
(32:57):
Christian McCaffrey, the Blue Jays tied it up at three,
and so Game seven is tonight in Toronto, which is
not great news for the Mariners, who I believe led
this series to.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Nothing coming back home up to nothing, yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
And then inability to put it away. Listen, I know
we have some Toronto listeners out there, We have a handful,
we have guests from Canada. I haven't talked to anybody
about at Fox about this, but I'm almost certain that
Fox would much prefer a Seattle Dodgers than a Toronto
And it has to do with the ratings because they
(33:37):
don't count viewership in Toronto in Canada because they're you know,
they're not in the United States, so viewership will definitely
be down. There hasn't been Toronto in the World Series
since I think ninety three with Joe Carter. Anyways, Game
seven should be good. And not only do you get
Game seven, Rob, you get two Monday night games. You
(33:58):
get the Bay Buccaneers at Detroit at four o'clock. I'll
spare you the numbers. I'm sure you've seen them everywhere.
Dan Campbell off a loss is amazing, Dan Campbell at
home is amazing. Blah blah blah. I'm on Detroit, Okay.
Bottom line is I need I need the Lions to
cover so your boy can salvage a two and three
(34:21):
in the contest. Oh, it's just I can't get out
of my own way. And then Texans Seahawks is the nightcap.
I had liked Seattle at three at three and a half,
I would lean Texans, but I have zero dollars on
this game yet, Rob, what you got?
Speaker 1 (34:37):
Well?
Speaker 4 (34:37):
I like the Lions, of course, I think that's a
big one, especially if you know whether or not these
receivers play. I think it's Evans and Abouga are questionable,
but neither one of them is gonna hundred percent. So yes,
I like the Lions for the Texans, like I don't
think they're a good football team, like all superiod, I'll stop.
I people are still excited about what they did to
(35:00):
the Ravens, but everybody does that to the Ravens, right
like coming into that game, I think that they had
scored six touchdowns all season and they scored six in
that one game, and it's like, oh, well shit, they're back,
and it's like, no, I don't think they are. So
I think that the Seattle Seahawks number one, that defense
is really good, like Mike McDonald has him playing great
and Sam Donald, I know, we keep beating this drum
(35:21):
over and over and you're tired of it. Pick your
favorite advanced stat and Sam Donald's either at the top
or near the top of it, like he is playing
quarterback as well.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
Like the position.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
Maybe the numbers aren't as biggest the other guys, but
playing the position with the big time throws and the
accuracy and the timeliness and all those things that the
nerds look at like he's up there with everybody, like
he's either number one or top five in every category.
So I think the Seahaws are really good, like Seahawks
to Night interesting.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
So the more I look at the lines, I actually
think the under might be the best play there. So
the Texans have a great pass rush. It should rattle
Dark right, they should get to him. And the Texans
also have a good secondary led by Derek Stingley. Seattle's
got one weapon, right JSN, who looks like a superstar.
So if the I don't know if Stingley will shadow him.
(36:13):
But I mean I saw some numbers quinyon Mitchell what
he did to Justin Jefferson yesterday. I was like, damn quinya,
Mitchell locked him down. I don't say if Stingley slows
down JSN, then basically it's gonna be the what Kenneth
Walker Zach Charmonet show. And I know that Seattle at Night,
you know conjures memories of Marshawn Lynch and just the
(36:35):
Legion of Boom. They're not dominant at home. I know
they smashed the Saints at home, but they lost to
the Niners at home in the opener, and they lost
to the Buccaneers thirty eight thirty five. So this idea
that they're unstoppable at home, I just don't. I don't
really believe that. And yeah, I think this screams like
(36:55):
twenty to seventeen. Somebody wins seventeen fourth something along those lines.
There's not a ton of offense. That would just be
my read on it, but.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
I would love it not a ton of offense because
I'm going against a Zach Charbonnet, Nick Chubb Stack, and
I need.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
Rashad White to outscore both of those guys by at
least seven points.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
It's so, you know, the gambling wasn't great this weekend,
but the fantasy was amazing. I am going to be
the highest scorer in two of my leagues. My son
just thrashed someone. So it's like, why can't they all
line up? Rob they gambling, the picks, the fans. It
would just be so good if it could all line up.
But such as life. Anyways, we are back tomorrow. I
(37:36):
got a couple good interviews lined up. NBA starts Tuesday night. Crazy,
can't wait. Talk to you tomorrow.
