mob on see.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
What they're saying. Yeah on YouTube.
Speaker 5 (01:43):
Yeah, we're getting a lot of feedback. Not on the
top of the hour talking about the lineup change for
game five coming up here in about two minutes. Everything's
about Rob Parker and the Shenanigans at Dodger Stadium with
regard to that gift card. So just a few more
read them out here. Justin says Rob's a jack.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Guess what.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
Rob's the kind of guy make you want to say
f out of here? What Zach says, Rob is Juliet
from Everybody Hates Chris.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
That's funny.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
That is funny, all right, that's the daddy ain't Yes, Yeah,
Scott says, Hey, Rob, what exactly did you buy with
the leftover money in the car?
Speaker 4 (02:18):
Because I know you spent it all.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Listen he tried to find a piece of gum for
a penny or something.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Hey, I told Rob G the other day, paying me
to leave with fourteen dollars left on the car.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Oh boy, So everybody, just the consensus is Rob's out
of pocket, okay.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
And one list, I know what you're looking at? Well yeah,
what I thought you were looking at?
Speaker 6 (02:37):
That?
Speaker 3 (02:37):
No?
Speaker 4 (02:37):
No, no, go ahead.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
And one last thing, and I'm just this is seriously,
I don't I don't even remember the kid's name. But
I just told kelvin the story, Rob guh and Rob
g you could you're better off like telling this?
Speaker 4 (02:49):
But you know, you know, I meant to a lot
of people. I meant to that. I teach, you know,
and all that.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
And I'm very big into, you know, giving back and whatnot.
And especially for a guy who doesn't have any kids,
you know what I'm saying and whatnot. And so I'm
walking to the car and a way to get back
here and a guy stops me. Rob, do you heard
the whole conversation? You would be better off?
Speaker 4 (03:15):
Can you tell?
Speaker 7 (03:15):
You?
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Can?
Speaker 4 (03:16):
You can?
Speaker 3 (03:16):
You?
Speaker 4 (03:16):
Uh? And and and he's a producer at Aby's at
Good Morning.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
Good Morning America. Yeah, me and Robert trying to get
work done. But you know, Rob Parker, he can't go
anywhere without being recognized and they say, hold on, Robbie,
I got to talk to this guy real quick. No,
but yes, he I don't know what he looked like
because I was on the phone. But this guy you
can hear make a be hey Rob, Rob, and we're
on the phone. He walks up to him. I just
want you to know, I never forget his name is.
(03:41):
My name is So and So. I worked for Good
Morning America and one of the producers there. You don't
know me, but you're a big inspiration in my life.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Can you imagine that somebody walk up to you and
say that out of out of the blue?
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Yep?
Speaker 5 (03:51):
And he's like, for all it said, I'm paraphrasing, all
the black journalists around the country look up to you
and the way you paved the way for so many people,
and what you've done helps them many people. He so, again,
you don't know me, you've never met me, but I
want you to know that you really inspired me to
do a lot of stuff.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
In this In this Alex, I'm dead. I was floored.
I just I just told Kevin this seriously, because that's
not something you're expecting. I'm just literally walking back to
the car. This guy comes out of nowhere as a
whole crowd of people walking towards my way. And it's
just the nicest thing when people acknowledge you in that way,
absolutely and you feel like you know what, you don't
(04:25):
even you don't even know you're making an impact.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Dude, it's me.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
There are times where we look, we get on here,
we tell our hot takes. People yell at us, you
scream at us, you call us whatever, you can, gree
with us, you love what we said, you love, you giggled,
you let But there are days when someone will tell
you how meaningful what you do and how meaningful it is,
and what it matters to them, why it resonates to them,
And those are the days you're like, all right, I
love I'm blessed to be able to do what I do.
(04:49):
That it can make a difference in people's lives. And
anytime you get those moments, it's awesome, man, for sure.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
It really was.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Got it out. It was one of those And the
best part about it, you said it right. It always
catches you off guard, you know, because I gotta get
out dog stated that.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Rob, you and I talking on speaker life like about
the show, and I'm not thinking about anything else.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
And and he didn't even he could have just oh
that is Rob park and.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Walk by or just say Rob, see you Rob, and
kind of kept it moving.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
And he could have. But you know why that is.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
And I'll just say to the last point, it's because
to this young man's credit, and I think we need
more of this. I've been big on this. I pat
myself on the back dead and I've been like this
for years. If I see somebody that I appreciate, I
ain't too big, They're not too big or I'm scared
to say me and my wife was just talking about this.
My wife she sent a post that Kevin Hart SI
Kevin Heart basically said, I'm in a room with Jeff
Bezos and oh I want to go meet him.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
I introduce myself and everybody some people around.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
He gonna take you on his jock and let that
man and then people who think small money. Kevin's whole
points said, that's a wealth of information. As a guy
does great thing, I want to just shake his hand.
Tell him, man, I'm a fan. You know, I appreciate everything.
My point is this young man had the wherewithal to say, man,
if I ever see some you know in this case,
you I want to tell him I appreciate what he does.
I want to tell him, uh, you know what he
mean to a lot. That shows me that he's going
(06:02):
to take that and give back himself. I understand the
importance of that, and it's always great when people were
able to do that. So yeah, I totally get the
sentiment man, when people That's why that's a story to share.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
It really is. I can't keep that to myself. I
just was like, wow, it made so the point is,
did you shut a thug t here?
Speaker 1 (06:19):
I did not because I was too busy trying to
finish eating what I was eating.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
He interrupted the GLIZZI boy, you know who did shed
a thug to here? Today?
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Couple of guys One MLB bro for sure, Aaron Judge,
the MLB broon it's just Cody. Oh God, that Cody.
Is that your alarm clock goes wren all rise and
that's Aaron Judges up. So is arguably the greatest player
(06:56):
in baseball right now.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Show.
Speaker 5 (06:57):
And that's because the MLB Plays Association did their annual
poll where they had players all across the league and
basically every player got a vote if they wanted to
weigh in, and then if they could, they wanted to.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Ast them.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
Most Outstanding player in the NL, Most Outstanding in the AL,
Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, so on
and so forth.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
And these are just players.
Speaker 5 (07:18):
No Rock Parker, no Calvin Washington, no Isaac Lohenkron, the
winner of the NL Most Outstanding Player, Kyle Schwarber, Hello,
the winner of the AL Most Outstanding Player, and Major
League Baseball Player of the Year, the big dumper cal Rackins,
(07:39):
Hello is this song? The two biggest stars with the
two biggest stats across baseball snubbed by their peers.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Calvin, you know what this is about. Go ahead, litst.
I want you to go that.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
MLB players simply prove the conversation you and I have
had in the NBA of the sports. They proved that
they can also be player haters as well. Because this
doesn't make any sense, there's no rationale behind it. And again,
I hate when you have to do this wrong because
you know what you have to do. You gotta poop
pool the other guy, like as if you know you're
(08:11):
not saying that those guys And that's what makes that's
what these types of things make you do is you
have to poop. You end up having to poop pool
the other guy. And so I'm Kyle Schobert, a very
good player. You sit up here every day. You know,
one of the things you complain about about Oltani and
his greatness, the one one of the things you first
go to.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
He's bat in two eighty two forty. That's the player
of the year.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
That's the player of the year. We sit up here
and talk about old Tany can be a little better
to eighty to forty, And that's the guy you have
over him. Not to mention, aside from home runs and
RBIs a lot of that we go to the bottom
of the lineup for the Dodgers. But every other metric
was in favor of Otani, every other metric, any other
thing you want to look at at all, on base
(08:56):
slugging percentage, all these other metricss. The only one he
had was that you have one more home he had.
He had fifty six. Otani had fifty five that same
That was just the same thing. And he had more RBIs.
He did have a significant more RB I think like
round thirty more rbrs. But the man pitched in fourteen
games like he And again I'm not saying Shore is
(09:16):
a scrub, but the idea that he was bad, no
one believes that.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
And what happens Robert? The same thing with Aaron Judge.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Now that one's closer because I think they're gonna see
what happens with the MVP vote. But I think what
happens man, players want to crown the new like, oh.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
Man, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
I like what Kyle's doing over there, like, oh look
at that, like let me find something a little new
at cob Hey. I'm just saying he bawling because there's
no other reason that you would say that on the metric.
And I think there is a little bit of player
hateration where they're like, I'm tired of that. Aaron Judge
is already won in a million times, old Tony's won
in a million he ai he II. Or if you
(09:52):
have beef with the guy, you know, maybe you're in
a division and you guys go battle back and forth.
He like, man, I ain't giving his dude no more love.
Because I have to quote my guy Rob Parker on this.
It's we talk about all the time. It's like when
Lebron got a handful of votes best player.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
In the NBA A decade ago.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Maybe now I get it, Okay, ten years ago he
got a very handful of votes for who's the best
player in the NBA. Come on, And it just shows
there is something to when you have players who are voting,
there is some hater ration or if they're joking.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
I don't know. Did we start off right off.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
The bat with one yes, unbelievable, Wow, right off the bat?
Speaker 4 (10:32):
First pick that was Schneider, right they put in the lineup? Dude,
he they they loaded like that.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Blake, Wow, this's one nothing to run on the first
hitch literally p one.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Home won the left field. Wow, come on, Blake? All right, Okay,
So that's my whole point.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
I guess you just know it, just that it didn't
make any sense jealousy, like like they're tired of hear
here is everybody's beating the drum that old Toddie's the
greatest player forever.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
And it here's a player's pole where they're like, no,
he's not even the best player in the league. Like
and if they say judge, you'd be like, okay, but
but just but just think about that.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
And and in both cases that's what It comes down
to that's why we talk about it all the time
that actually the writers we're.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
Not we don't have in the game.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
It does matter. Players are Is that another one? You
get two pitchers, two on onuns. You gotta be kidding
me on three pitchers.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Don't disrespect them. Three pitches, time out because look, we
need a twenty. We need a twenty a full no
admit a full time out.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Oh we hit the crowd with the blotty vloody Doddy
ain't playing yo.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
I thought Kershaw wasn't pitching the night. All right, here's
a problem.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Every time I turn my head and listen to you
like your point, I turn, I miss a home run.
Shay is shook. Look at that? I blame bah. I
blame Shaye? Where is Shad? Look at people are like
Dodgers in five? I at least gave him respect. I
said six, all right, So WI should this pitch? They're
(12:13):
swinging away that At this point they're like why not?
Speaker 4 (12:15):
He was like, here, gonna throw another fastball?
Speaker 2 (12:17):
He threw bowling. Let's go for a turkey, hey, hat
trick and hockey. Let's go with what would what would?
What would we call it an.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
MLB rock three home run in the row. We got
a name for that hat trick, going a hat trick
like hockey.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Yeah right, unbelievable. But I want to say this, it's
it's a lot of it is jealousy. They they feel like, oh,
he gets too much love, too much from everybody's talking
about how great he is.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
Other players are great too. Spread spread the lik exactly.
And this we'll go back to.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Even if you think players don't have skin in the
game and don't have jealousy. We talk about all the
time our Lebron one hundred and twenty, some of our
players didn't vote for him for the All Star Guess
what it was?
Speaker 4 (12:58):
That was it? And how about this one? I can
be a better one.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
When Isaiah and Bird and then froze out Michael in
the All Star.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Game, young whip snappers, Oh no.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
You coming in here, that league trying to turn the
league over to you. Oh no, we're not having that really.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Right, Yeah, which is why it's just when when when
Kaitlyn Clark was getting a little you know, they don't
want to do this or they're trying to for I'm like,
this is not new players do this. You can't just
come in here and be on a new hot shot
and everybody talking about you and the hold on. I mean,
we built this league or we you know we've been
but they try to make it like the reporters and
(13:37):
writers we are.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
We're jealous, we're jaded, we're uh have biased against people
if we don't like them and all that. And here
are the players doing worse to me because they know
what it takes to be out there. You can't tell
me I'm serious. And I get the love for the
big dumper and being a catcher and playing every day,
(14:00):
but they know the league averages two forty two and
Judge bat at three thirty one and Judge had fifty
three home runs.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
It's not like he just hit for average. He had
average empower and that and absolutely, and I think that's
the trouble.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
And this is one of the one of one of
the things you have debates on an arguments on. I
just think human nature happens where I'm tired of him.
Here we go to and they are's talking that. And
that's what I mean. When you get these votings and
as we talk about mlv UH in NFL, MVP and things,
it's just I think people go, uh, lamar, get another one,
(14:35):
or well Lebron or Kobe, Yeah, maybe he'll get you know,
as opposed to what they're actually saying right then and
there in their eyes. And it kind of tricked themselves
into going, well, it's just he deserves it now, so
and so it's just their season.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
But put the but for both Otana and Judge, both
for both.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
And Judge absolutely deserves to be the think but I
can see that the big dumper over over j just
oh no, yeah, more so than Collin. Starber is at
home shocked right now. Starber's agent called him say, hey,
did you see yea go check your check the email.
I just say, hey, wait what me? Schwarber is all right?
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
And it's real simple.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Are regular players jealous of big stars like show Hal
Tani and Aaron Jodge. We'll continue that conversation next with you.
It is the odd couple on the Worship Wednesday, Rob Parker,
Kelvin Washington right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 8 (15:40):

home run office now today the Hyo.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Rob? Are you actually put that tweet out there today?
So ridiculous?
Speaker 2 (16:38):

Rob Parker kelvin Washington. It's your boys on the Worship Wednesday.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
On the way tied biding should be. We got Rick.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Buker coming up here in a little bit. We'll talk
to the NBA. A bunch of NBA headlines. We couldn't
really get to so many of them because the World
Series and obviously the NBA scandal, so we haven't really
talked just hoops yet.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
Uh reger, quick, quickly read your your tweet. Yep. The
scores to nothing. The Blue Jays hit two home runs?
Who is that?
Speaker 1 (17:18):
Schneider and lay Vladdy Junior to nothing? Dodgers are up
Otani to to count. So this is a big game.
Five Dodgers team to nothing Toronto. Right off the bat,
my tweet was simply so ridiculous. You are is Otani
pitching tonight too? I'm just question.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Mark, I'm just asking for a friend. Sorry, all right,
right now, I hope he hits a home run. Here
we go, Well my hopes come back into the mountains. Okay, yeah,
there you go, all right? Eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox? Are the other players jealous of the big
stars got it? Because they don't seem to be. They
didn't vote Otani as Player of the Year in the
(17:57):
National League. They didn't vote Judges player to his just
not voting. It's who they voted for. Like, okay, fine,
if you thought it like I said, I if some
reason Otani and Judge were in the same league. Okay, fine,
you voted for one of these, I get Okay, come on,
sorber shot for.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
Both of them.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Right, all right, let's go to what Curtis in California.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What up, Curtis?
Speaker 6 (18:18):
Hey? Can you hear me?
Speaker 4 (18:19):
Gotcha? Lolly buddy?
Speaker 6 (18:22):
Hey, So I'm up here by Mount Shasta and I'm
a Giants fan, Okay, and I'm kind of old school.
Name drop a few names I went to school and
played ball with. Okay, Lynn Swan and Lynn Swan and
Dennis Haysburt Oh wow, So yeah, I believe Otani is
(18:45):
like secretary. Okay, he's a specimal. He's what thirty one,
thirty two years old? Yep? That game that when eighteen innings,
it didn't get done till midnight. Otani didn't get to
bed till like three am in the morning. It's like
Dave Roberts needs to be fired. Wow, no way, there's
(19:06):
no way Davey Roberts should have had him, you know,
nine nine times on the basis yeah, he walked.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
But so you're saying he shouldn't have pitched last night,
that that Dave Roberts shouldn't have pitched home.
Speaker 6 (19:18):
He should not have played eighteen indianes. He should have
gone home after nine.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
Yeah, that's a good point about going home after nine,
But that game was important, and the idea of taking
him out. You don't want to just give up a
game and be like, well, you gotta be ready for tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
You got a game.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Yeah, I'd much rather pull him after two or three
innings the next outing when he was pitching, than to
pull him out of that because you're automatically, as we
talked about the guy up at bat now, Mookie was
getting shots to get a run in because they were
they were walking o Tani. So if I know that
I'm automatically getting a potentially a winning run on, why
would I take that guy out? He automatically was getting
(19:59):
on first base every time. I'm not taking that guy.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
Oh, I get it.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
I mean I hear whenever you're doing a guy who
pitches and plays every day. This is one of those
things that happened. But it's impossible to send home show hey,
when the game is hanging in the balance, all right,
cause I can't worry about tomorrow if I don't win
today like that, Like.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
That's real, that's real and I and I'm not.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Nobody's hitting and I'm gonna send the only guy who's
getting on base and hitting home.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
No, I can't do that.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
I don't know i'd agree with that. I get I try.
I think I'm trying to get the sentiment, but I
don't get it all right on the way, Rick Buker
on the other side, right now.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
I love Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk

the whole crew over there, Jazz Main and Tara and everybody.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
Good people.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
And Chris Haynes was on there. Just I just saw Chris. Yeah, yeah,
that's good.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Listen. I'm rapping us man.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
You see it. When they put my name co host
of you know how to, I could have said Spectrum
News one morning anchor, but I said me and.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
My guy Rob Parker, And there it is right there.
You got the big fox on the sun. Next time,
just scoot to the side a little bit, get that
fox a little bit bigger, very nice.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
All right, here we.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Go, all right, speaking to somebody who knows a little
bit about the NBA, our guy, Rick Buker, Fox Sports
NBA Analysts, No Filter Network.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
Rick, what's up? Brother? What's up?
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Rick?
Speaker 6 (21:58):
It's such an honor to be on the show with
the NBA TV's Calvin Wasserton. There you got, I know
what an honor and privilege.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Is Come on, Rick, I gotta deal with him three
hours a day.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Hey, go ahead, Rob, I're gonna say, Rick, obviously we
got to start with the gambling and uh, the allegations.
Obviously the FBI involved the questions about the n b A.
You know, Terry Rogier gets clear by the n b
A and and I'm not and I'm not buying Adam.
Silver's just well, we can't subpoena people. So so to me,
(22:34):
basically what he said is we can't uh do anything
if some if somebody suspected of.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Cheap That's what he said to me, that they have
no power to do any kind of investigation. What did
you make of that? I?
Speaker 6 (22:47):
Well, if I'm going to take Adam at his word, uh,
it's that the FBI had resources that they did not.
And that's subsequent to the NBA's investigation, the FBI was
able to uncover stuff that they either either did not
(23:08):
uncover or did not have enough proof, definitive proof that
that Rosier had intentionally manipulated games and passed on and
passed on information. So you know, beyond that, I I
but that, but.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
That scary, Rick, that's scary to me going forward with
the integrity that you can't right that the casinos alerted
you that there was suspicious payment, suspicious.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Bets, you know where Rogier was.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
It was like, that's that's the mechanism that you're supposed
to use in order to be able to find out
the intel that you need. And my only point is
if it's it's only the FBI, then people will be
able to get away with it because the NBA is
basically saying they don't have the resources and it's not
that important to them to make sure that the integrity
(24:02):
of the game is solid.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
I mean, that's scary.
Speaker 6 (24:05):
Well, if they were really concerned about all of this
and the integrity of the game, they never would have
taken the gambling money to begin with, because this was
always a question as to how lock solid their ability
to prevent anything from happening was. They went into this
(24:29):
believing that they could, but not knowing that by any
definitive way. And the reality is we were anybody would
say this is going to happen, because it's happened in
every sport. It happened every time gambling has been involved.
I just look at it as the money, the gambling
money was simply too good. The level of interest that
(24:50):
it creates when you have gambling, particularly when it I mean, look,
the simplest way to handle this is just eliminate all
the prop that stuff that's there.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
I'm saying that on this trail.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Yes it is.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
But the hard part about that, Rick, we had New
York Times in a thing and it's basically twenty twenty
percent of the money. That's a large portion. You talking
about a fifth of your money is from proputs. You
can stop prop bets better than you can. I agree
with that, But I'm saying, you know, people, one, you
know a thing people love more than money, more money.
And I don't know if you get rid of twenty
(25:22):
percent of your end, you know your revenue that comes
from prop bets.
Speaker 6 (25:27):
No, I understand that, and that's where this all starts.
But the days of the NBA crying poor or where
worry about where their next dollar was going to come from,
I mean.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
It is.
Speaker 6 (25:41):
It is pure greed, and greed drives a lot of
issues in our society that if we could just back
up a little bit and say, hey, you know what,
for the common good, let's take this a different direction.
I don't need an extra billion or two. And when
we let the how much can I make to determine
(26:04):
the decision making, then then you're going to run into
problems like this, and you're gonna run into situations where
now you're trying to say, hey, the integrity is the
utmost priority for us, when the reality is, no, it's not.
The money is the money. Let's just let's just be
honest about it, shall we?
Speaker 4 (26:22):
At this point, I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Let's go ahead and screaming out Rick Buke our guests
right now, Fox Sports, NBA analysts, no filtered network as well. Rick,
let me go here, Rob and I because of this scandal,
because of ob we see when the postseason has been
a handful of other stories and it's just the beginning
of the NBA season, haven't really been able to touch
on this.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
Wimby has been incredible.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
And I think the thing that makes this incredible so
far is not just him, but what it's doing for
the winning. Right, It's not just he's putting up crazy
number but they're not winning. It's actually adding up to
his success, but the team's success. What the heck has
he looked like to you? Or the first week and
a half.
Speaker 6 (26:59):
Or so, like something that we've never quite seen before,
which is I'm not one for hyperbole, and I've been
covering this league for thirty some years, so it's saying
that I've never seen this before, Like I've I've seen
elements of this before, but not someone with his physical physique,
(27:22):
with his capability, and and so that's where I mean.
I honestly, the way I've looked at it is, and
I've this has been a focus of mine, is what
has happened to America's hold on the NBA, question the
game of basketball. We've had seven consecutive MVPs that have
(27:44):
been non Americans, now Victor, and now Victor comes along.
Victor comes along, and I'm like, it's going to be
at least another seven years before we can even sniff
this deal, which is so it's it is for me,
it's distressing to be us with you because as someone
who takes pride in basketball being our game and our
(28:07):
dominance of the sport and the pride that goes into
everybody wants to come to play in the NBA because
that's where the best basketball is played. That much is
still true, it's just the best basketball is being played
by non Americans, and I feel like there's a lot
of whistling through the graveyard of people like, yeah, but
(28:27):
you know what, Team USA still dominates and all that. Yeah,
it's because we can take our absolute best and congregate them.
And all the other countries are like our states. They've
got the individual stars, but where our game collectively is
Right now, Victor winbin Yama is exposing how far we
(28:49):
have fallen. I think as a country. This is a
dude from France, from France who's kicking everybody's ass in
the NBA. You know how crazy it would have been
the same people would have lasted that twenty years ago,
a guy from France.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
And now to his eyes at you right now, Rick
Tony Parker's upset with Rick. He's so good I had
to make a song for him.
Speaker 9 (29:12):
Everyone knows the twim Hey Rick, Rick who made that
song originally?
Speaker 4 (29:23):
Come on?
Speaker 3 (29:23):
Rick?
Speaker 4 (29:24):
I know Rick?
Speaker 2 (29:25):
Yeah, Rick, I know every day every day, right, And
here's the craziest part. Winby's so young that I'm gonna
have to deal with this for like fifteen years.
Speaker 4 (29:37):
That's the rup around that long. But there it is.
Uh any I won't want to say in the East.
I want to ask you about the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
I know, last year, uh, you know, people thought after
they beat Boston, they're gonna get to the finals. Obviously
that didn't happen. Indiana came around. And now with the
injury to Indiana of course, halliburnon and of of course,
uh you know Boston and and Tatum. You know, with
those injuries, do they have a shot, the Knicks to
(30:10):
get to the finals or no, Cleveland is still in.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
A way, and maybe Milwaukee's in a way or somebody else.
Speaker 6 (30:17):
Yeah, I don't. I just don't see how you can
they get to the finals. You know, Okay, but I
don't see a team whose best player is not a
dominant two way player winning a championship. I just it's
it's we and we can make a case. You know,
(30:38):
the Warriors did it years but that that was a
very unique team. And I don't know, to six in
the same category as what the Warriors had around Steph,
they don't. They don't have the combination of Klay Thompson,
Steph Curry and Draymond Green that like that perfect combination.
And then on top of it, the Andre Iguidalas and
(31:02):
and all of the other the Sean Livingstons and all
of the other special pieces that they had that just
made that perfect, aside from the fact that they were
playing a system that caught everybody off guard, that everybody
needed a couple of years to adjust to with the
small ball game that they played.
Speaker 7 (31:21):
So I.
Speaker 6 (31:24):
Do the Knicks have a puncher's chance of getting to
the finals? Yeah, just because I think the East is
so wide open. But like I'm looking at an Orlando,
can they be the next o k C. I'm looking
at some of the younger teams in the Eastern Conference
that the injuries to Philly and Milwaukee kind of be
an end the injuries to Boston. I don't immediately look
(31:46):
at at the Knicks as stepping into the breach other
than by default because they're the team with the most
experience and you don't have anybody else proven. But I
just look, we've run We've run into this every single year. Brunson,
because of his size, is going to be worn down
(32:07):
at the end of the year. And that's your go
to and most important guy, and so I just don't
know how you win a championship when that is your
best player.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
Yeah, I feel you, And he's just and he's you
don't want to say he's too small, but it's just
as interesting as you mentioned.
Speaker 6 (32:21):
Can I'll say it, he's too small.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
There you go, it's just that says you see it.
It plays itself out in the postseason. You see it
for sure. And Rick, one last time before we let
you go.
Speaker 4 (32:30):
Everyone knows it's whim. I think Rick hung up.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
Rick, that's the association who made that tune that I
had to steal from.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (32:43):
I'm so glad that the that the quality of that
is bad enough that like I can pretend I didn't
actually hear it. That was just.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
I'm just not that good of an actor.
Speaker 6 (32:58):
Calvin, Calvin, God bless you son. You're doing God's work.
Speaker 2 (33:01):

That I'm even number figure it out.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Hit me out.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
We got four today instead of five, so we're gonna
go eaven on this. But Rob Parker, you inspired this one.
This one is for those who go out to games,
go out to the ballpark stadiums, the arenas and whatnot.
So the question is one's gotta go meeting? Which one
of these have they gotten? Just two outrageous with When
you go to a ball game, there's a few things
(34:37):
you gotta pay for. One, you have to pay for
tickets unless you're rob Parker. You gotta pay for parking.
Maybe you want to get that Dodger jersey that Shay
has on right now, So merch, and of course you
gotta eat.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Checky don get that at the ballpark? Or did you
get that at Marshalls. I'm he's too young to know
what Marshalls is, OK? Or food you gotta eat, you
gotta drink.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
I'm putting food and drinks as a that could have
been to set again parking, parking, tickets.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
Merch, food and drinks.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
The question is, you know things are gonna go, we
know you're gonna pay, But which one do you feel
like it is out of line? Now?
Speaker 4 (35:10):
Which one of those has to go?
Speaker 10 (35:11):
There?
Speaker 2 (35:12):
I know I gotta pay for tickets, they gotta pay
for merchant, pay food, and gotta pay for parking.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
This is which one has gotten crazy? Go ahead? Since
easy go Ahead?
Speaker 1 (35:21):
I mean food has gotten crazy. But I gotta eat
the merch buying something at the ballpark where a baseball
cap is fifty dollars or Jersey's two hundred dollars, or
in San Francisco, they make a ton of money.
Speaker 4 (35:36):
You know why, because a lot of fans will go
there for the first time, don't.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
Realize how cold it gets at night, so they sell
they sell one hundred dollar.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
Hoodies because people are freezing cold of water. The stadium
is on the water.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
There in San Francisco, going there seriously, because you're thinking
it's la warm and you get caught.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
No better and you need one hundred dollar hoodie to
stay warm at night when when the sun goes down
here in the So that that's why.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
I'm like, it's the merch merch. I like that, all right,
good point, Rob g Alex. Anybody is loo oh, this
was easy?
Speaker 6 (36:07):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (36:08):
Parking?
Speaker 5 (36:10):
Like?
Speaker 4 (36:10):
What you already got me with the tickets?
Speaker 5 (36:14):
I already know I gotta spend forty for this food
and drink beverage combo. I'm expecting if if you got kids,
they're gonna want some kind of you gotta get them something,
whether it's the.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
Foam finger on the lower end or a jersey on
the high end, whatever it is.
Speaker 5 (36:29):
But parking I saw for this game, I think, not
this game, but for Game three, eighty dollars to park
at Dodger Stadium.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
That's crazy, you know, on on at the State understand
like external parking, Like I get that.
Speaker 10 (36:47):
Mick McCord owns the parking lots.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
I know.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
I'm just saying, let me tell you something. The smartest
thing you ever did was I'll sell you the team,
but not the parking lot. I could go to Disneyland
and play twenty five dollars.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
Disneyland is one of the few places that somehow it
did it right in that regard. So I'm gonna jump
in here. Mine is parking as well. I've always struggled
with parking because I'm at savez Ravine.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
There's nowhere else to go, Like, I have to park here.
It's like a mall.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
The reason why malls typically don't charge you, if they do,
it's you know something, you know, two dollars or something,
is because you're here you had no choice. But like,
this is the only place to park, So come on
in free parking, Come spend some money in these shops.
I had to buy the tickets. I gotta buy the
food at least come me your break on the parking,
and I'm totally with you. Parking is absurd, It's obscene,
(37:37):
and I've never understand why me coming to your Venue've
already bought things that to pay to even come here
to tickets and all that. Now I gotta pay you
fifteen hundred dollars. NFL games are crazy preseason one hundred
dollars and we don't allow tailgating. Sorry, guys, you fifty
park Yeah?
Speaker 4 (37:51):
Parking for me? Is there you food?
Speaker 8 (37:53):
I mean, the easiest answer is parking, you know, because like, again,
why don't you just include in the ticket prices at
this point?
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Like what are we doing?
Speaker 8 (37:59):
But I will say this, I've always had an issue
with grown men wearing other men's names. So, like, you
want to be dumb and pay a hundred bucks for
a jersey to wear another man's name?
Speaker 4 (38:07):
Cool?
Speaker 8 (38:07):
Look who's over there as Shaye? I remember in high
school girls wearing other guys' names. Cool for you, But
you're a grown man wearing a jersey?
Speaker 4 (38:13):
Now what Ish's what's the name on his?
Speaker 10 (38:17):
I you on this traffic? Maybe this is just a
little too specific to Dodger Stadium.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
Parking, y'all know, what I mean, Oh, no, traffic is
that's right, but as parking, but between parking tickets, merch food,
drink which one has gotten too outraged with the pricing
parking tickets, merch food and slash.
Speaker 10 (38:38):
Drinks at Dodger Stadium. I would say the parking, but
in general, I would say the food across the board in.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
Sports it's crazy too. There's a there.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
I told you the Governor of Many, Minnesota while ago
made we're airports, the food price that have to be
the same as outside of area.
Speaker 6 (38:54):
I like that
