Boussaut on the TV theme song Thursday, Let's kick some ass. Yes,
that was your best yet. That was your best yet?
For real? That was my man? That was It was
in rhythm, it was that was like, that was like

(03:22):
an MC. But let me say something, and I want
to say something really quick whenever something goes on. And
you know, I appreciate Chris and today you know, he
got this thing to go to the Nike uh party
or whatever that was like and he invited. Man, that
was nice. Man, Come on, appreciate you know. I make

(03:43):
fun of you and I and I usually crush you
in debate. It's all up, all right, look basketball, big news.
I mean we're here for the super Bowl. But it
was huge news in the NBA today. I can you
call it a block buster when these guys are really
just potential? I am maybe, but it was a huge trade.

(04:07):
So here it goes if you haven't already heard it,
the New York Knicks Nikaba Morribund. New York Knicks sent
Chris stops Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Junior, Courtney Lee, and Trey
Burke to the Dallas Mavericks for Dennis Smith Junior, two

(04:29):
future first round draft picks Wesley Matthews and DeAndre Jordan.
Now obviously the big names in that trade. The most
two most significant players in that trade are Chris stops
Porzingis going to Dallas and Dennis Smith Junior going to
New York. Rob. A lot of people are killing the

(04:53):
Knicks on this. I'm gonna hold my opinion till I
hear yours, But what do you think about it? I'm
good with it for this standpoint. I've always said that
if a player doesn't want to play for you, I'm
moving him. I don't want anybody on my team who
doesn't want to be there. So obviously, and this goes
back to port Zingis when even Phil Jackson was in

(05:15):
charge of the organization and he skipped out on an
exit interview after the season, which is a disrespectful and
you're part of an organization, so it's obviously with something
going on there. And then it wasn't fixed even though
there's a new regime in place. Right saw that something
that I was talking to some people or a person
in that organization today, the Knicks, and he said and

(05:38):
again Phil did to him, something happened, didn't get he
is soured or in the Knicks organization and that didn't
change with the new regime Scott period of GM and
all that. And number two, they haven't won Jack since
nineteen seventy three. And if they could clear space and
there's some free agents available Chris by making this move,

(05:59):
what is the number I or seventy four point six
million dollars will be steals, which is too many two
back steals. So if they do that, and with the
way that they're playing, they could wind up with the
top pickers as well, so they could potentially Now I
might not all work out, but they could get Zion

(06:21):
on Williamson right and at two max players right, just
this wouldn't make the right there So for people who
are killing and also ran team that hasn't won a
championship since Moby Dick was a guppy. I don't know
how you could look at this and be like thinking

(06:41):
that it's not a good day for if you're a
New York Knick fan. Well, a lot of people are
looking at it that way, and they're looking at it
from a short sighted mindset, no question about it, because
you're right when you just look at it on the
surface and you see what went to Dallas and what
went to New York. Not the Nicks are out of
their mouth. I fleeced, right, But when you really look,

(07:03):
you don't even have to dig that deep. But when
you understand what's going on, I think Rod Parker, this
was a fantastic trade for both teams. Now let me
you didn't address Dallas, let me address him. And they
also had a player who was disgruntled, who wasn't happy
there right in Dennis Smith Junior. Yeah, let me let
me address it from a Dallas perspective. Outstanding move, outstanding

(07:29):
Luca don Chicks, I'm saying it. I've said it before,
is a Larry Bird type player, and not just because
of his skin color. Well that's partially. I ain't gonna
lie he was black, I wouldn't be. I wouldn't. I
probably compare him the Magic or Lebron. I'd say he's
like Lebron, but no, but he is a lot like
Larry Bird. He can ball. He is a guy that

(07:52):
can lead this team to title contention, if not championships
in the future. Now you pair him with this stops Portzingis.
Porzingis if he stays healthy, which has been a problem.
He's obviously sitting out this year or at least most
of it. Porzingis can ball, he can catch and shoot,
and he and Luca have a relationship from both being

(08:15):
overseas from Europe. This is a nice move. And don't look,
don't poo poo Tim Hardaway Junior as a throw in.
Tim Hardaway, Julie has been and Luca Dodgics and Porzingis
are gonna draw so much attention that Hardaway Junior is
gonna get open looks all night. If he makes him

(08:38):
he could be a star. Now he's a good player, right,
So Dallas definitely made out in this, but so did
the Knicks because you hit it on the head. Seventy
four seventy five million dollars worth of cap space, and
I'm gonna throw out names. Let me hear. This is
what I think the Knicks are looking at Kyrie Irving

(08:58):
and Kevin Durant. It's possible, it's doable, it's doable, and
it's possible because we have all heard there are guys
in the league before this trade went down, before the
Knicks had a room to get another superstar. Who thought
Kevin Durant was going to New York. His agent is
in New York wants to push him to New York.

(09:21):
And Kyrie Irving is from West Orange, New Jersey, which
is a suburb of New York. Yes exactly, it's I
lived that lived there. I know his family and Kyrie
grew up a Nets fan. But there's no reason to
go to Brooklyn. They are a nice little team, but
they got two guards. They're not better and have money
as well. I mean, if you got Spencer, then Winny
D'Angel Russell. You know, why is Kyrie necessarily gonna go there?

(09:45):
You know? So I think if he wants to leave Boston,
I'm not saying this a done deal. I think you know,
see how the team plays. Do they get to the finals?
You know, do they push Golden state. No, maybe all
that happens, maybe stays. But now Kyrie Irving and Kevin
Durant are in serious play. Jimmy Butler Now, Jimmy Butler's

(10:08):
attitude issues in different places. But you know he could
be a third guy if they don't get though, one
of those two make their partner. I know he's close
with actually both of them. Jimmy Butler's close with m Durant, Kyrie.
Both don't come to get maybe he goes. I will
say this, Rob, I do not think Kevin Durant will
go to New York by himself. No, no, no, So

(10:30):
now what you're gonna have and look tampering? Yeah whatever,
but hit me. He gonna be on the phone, but
you already with Kyrie and Jimmy Butler all gonna be talking.
And when they noticed Trade and his agent I'm talking
about Katie's agent picks up the phone and says, dude,
the Knicks have seventy five million dollars to spend. Yep. Hello,

(10:53):
is this microphone on? Yep? Right, you're right. And here's
another thing. People are overlooking Dennis Smith Junior. It's not
small potatoes. He's not a bad player. I mean Denny
Smith Junior was a lottery pick a year ago. A
year ago he averaged fifteen points five assists, made all Rookie.

(11:18):
I mean, you know, he doesn't really fit with Luca,
so his numbers are down now. But he actually might
be a decent point guard, you know. So I think
the Knicks made out. They weren't to your point, they
weren't going anywhere anywhere. They're not going anywhere, and they
haven't since nineteen seventy three, let's just be honest. Not
a championship, no, you know what I mean. So they dude, people,

(11:42):
we noticed, Chris, we both worked in New York at
newspapers there. Nick fans still show up because they loved basketball.
They loved the game. But man, they've been through the
ringer for years, no question, and they need to get
back in the mix. The NBA is all always gonna
be It's good. It'll be better when the Nixon Lakers

(12:03):
are back in the mix. We have some other news.
The All Star reserves were named. Yes, so let me
hear what you think about this. The Western Conference Russell Westbrook,
Anthony Davis, Nicola Yoki, Damian Lillard, Clay Thompson, LaMarcus Aldridge

(12:24):
and Carl Anthony Towns. Any issues with that, no issues whatsoever. Yeah,
I agree that sounds like that's that's legitimate. I'm trying
to look. I knew Draymond wouldn't make it this year.
I'm running down the list. Are there any real snubs?
Rudy Gobert might have an argument, you know, as a snub.

(12:46):
Tobias Harris. I know he's had a great year for
the Clippers, but I'm not taking off any of those
guys for Tobias. Yeah. I think they got it right.
I think they got it right. Let's look at the
Eastern Conference. If I can find that the Eastern Conference
All Stars, this will be interest. Here we go. Wow,

(13:06):
Chris Middleton from the Milwaukee Bucks. Okay, that was a
second Brown pick you got. Wound up working his way
into a big contracts he was in Detroit. I remember
when he first got there. Ben Simmons made it. Bradley Beale, Wow,
that's interest in Nikola Vussovitch from Orlando. He's played well.

(13:28):
Kyle Lowry, Blake Griffin, and Victor Ladipo. Obviously, Oladipo's gonna
miss the game. He's out for the season. That's that's
an interesting list. I'm trying to see. Do I see
any snubs on that one? Um? You could some people
could argue for D'Angelo Russell with the nets. Uh, But

(13:51):
I'm not mad at this. I mean no, I can't.
I don't see anybody else that I'm clamoring for to
get on that team. No. Jimmy Butler, Jimmy Butler. Jimmy
Butler should have made it. Why didn't he make it? Then?
I don't, That's that's baffling. He'll make it over Oladipo.
He'll replace Oladipo. But Jimmy Butler, that's the snub. Yeah,

(14:12):
that's the biggest snub of the All Star both conferences.
That makes sense. He's the ball if you talk about
his attitude all you want, He's a baller, all right.

Four time Super Bowl champion won it with the New
England Patriots three times and once with the Indianapolis Colts.

(15:59):
Is none other than arguably the greatest kicker in NFL history,
Adam Vin Terry. Great to have you on the eye couple. Adam,
thanks for having absolutely and Adam, you know, before we
get into everything, how does it feel when when they
showed a Tom Brady highlight wheel, you have thirty minutes
on it, you know, I mean, I think people show
a good one too. People don't people change you. You

(16:22):
kicked two game when he field goals and in that
Chuck Rule Tuck game, Tuck Rule game, you had two
big field goals in the snow. I mean, you're a
big part of their early part of that dynasty, as
Tom Brady is. I'm serious. Well, I feel like a
lot of guys the first first run off, guys kind
of help get him on the map and kind of

(16:42):
started off, and then they just took it and kept
on running with it. So I feel honored to be
and honored and privileged to be a part of you know,
the first three that they got and yeah, you know,
we kind of we started building it and they just
kept going with it. Are you shocked that this has
gone on so long in New England and time him
has you know, I know, I know. You mean, you're
forty six yourself and you just signed a contract extension.

(17:05):
Congratulations on that by the way, thank you. So you're
defying five o the time as well. But are you
surprised that he's been able to do it so long? Well,
I tell you what, I know how difficult it is
when you when you get a little older, and you
know the fact that he takes such good care of
his body and and he's got a regiment and all
the stuff that he does. You know, I knew when
he first got here, I nobody knew that he was

(17:25):
going to be Tom Brady was Tom Brady, you know.
But I do know when he first got in that
first year and oh one and and took charge of
the league, he just he just started working his butt
off and and and and his savvy and his his
grit kind of stuff just just made him a winner.
And and you know when he sits here and says,
I want to play till on forty five. I'm never

(17:45):
gonna doubt that man because he can do anything he
wants to do. It's it's amazing, and you know, and
and there's no drop off, you know, everybody, Oh, this
is the year he's not gonna be able to do it,
especially just he just does it again every day. Whatever
I've been wrong for eight years in a row, whatever
it's been, you know. Um. The other thing is when
you talk about kickers and big moments especially, there are

(18:10):
a lot of kickers. And we saw it in Chicago
with the young kicker. You know, with the game on
the line. People don't make a big deal about kickers
until you miss one, you know what I mean, in
a big spot. There's a lot of pressure in those moments.
I think the most difficult for us kickers is we're
only on the field a handful of times. Guys get
into the middle of the game, you know, if you're

(18:30):
a lineman or a receiver, you you get the flow
of the game, it starts and you get to stay
in it. For us, we're standing on the sideline for
ten twenty minutes at a time, and then you're expected
to go in and make you know, a very pivotal
moment in the game you've got to make this kick
to whatever the momentum changes, or if it's at the
very end of the game. Sometimes it might be a
low scoring game. You've only been on the field twice

(18:51):
and all of a sudden you're asked to win the game. That's,
you know, physically our job. It's funny because I've always
had offensive linemen or whatever as the dog days of
training camp and there's sweating and they're they're dying, they
got blood all over and they're just like, man, I
wish I was a kicker every day except for Sundays
because they don't want to having to do with that.
And I get that. I mean, that's you know. I
always say, if if you're not okay with the stress

(19:13):
and the pressure of that, you gotta find a different job,
because it's going to be that often. It's the Eye Couple.
We're joined by Adam Vinetari, four time Super Bowl champion.
Adam I've often said that watching kickers, I'm like, man,
the pressure has got to be crazy. Do you have
mental things you do to deal with that? Do you

(19:33):
just totally rely on your muscle memory or you know,
what do you do when you know, the game is
on the line and it's all about you. Well, me personally,
I don't ever practice without purpose, you know, I don't
ever go out and gun I don't really care how
this is gonna go. Like, I always try to put
myself in a situation where you know, hey, I'm gonna

(19:54):
add extra pressure to myself in practice or if you know,
I'm not, I don't ever go out there and I'm
just gonna go through the motions. For me, it's always
with a purpose, you know, And I think that helps
later on. And I guess I've always been that that
kid growing up that we always wanted to be in
the middle of the sport. You know. I've played center
midfielder in soccer. I was a pitcher or catcher in baseball,
or I played quarterback in high school too. I wanted

(20:17):
to be part of the action, yeah, you know. I
you know, for me, it was important to to want that.
And some people don't necessarily care to have that kind
of situation. I love it. I just you know, and
I think some people thrive on pressure. I mean, you
see some of the guys Mariano Rivera or Tiger Woods
or something, when when the pressure was on, they were
at their best. I'm not saying I don't. I'm not

(20:39):
comparing myself to these gentlemen, but but I do think
some people enjoy that pressure and some people don't. And
and and I think if if you're a kind of
guy that's going to be in that position, you have
to train yourself to be okay feeling okay being uncomfortable,
you know, comfortable being uncomfortable. What was your all the kicks,
big kicks you've made and all that, what was the

(20:59):
the best or the most memorable for you? And what
was the worst one where you felt like I just
I just didn't get it done for my team. I
would say the one I'm the most proud of is
the divisional playoff game, the Snow Bowl game. You had
two kicks from the yeah and the one to tie
at forty five yards, were down by three right after
the tuch situation, no time left on the clock. Basically we're,

(21:23):
you know, under a minute whatever. And that's one of
those you know, three four, five, six inches of snow
on the ground. If you miss, you're cleaning out your
locker in the season's over. So I don't know if
you can stack any more pressure onto that kick, Blizzard.
It's crazy, right, And so that one's probably the one
that I'm the most proud of because it was the
most difficult kick I've ever had playing in Super Bowls,

(21:44):
winning Super Bowls, having the opportunity to kick it through
the post to end the game. Nothing like that either.
I mean, that's that's awesome. You know, those moments have
never get older or whatever. I've missed some that have
cost us games too, you know. I mean, if you
play long eno, if you're gonna have a bad play,
I don't care if you're a kicker, a receiver, a quarterback,
it's gonna happen. And and I've missed some that you know,

(22:07):
end of the game and it didn't go through, you know,
and and we lost, and and that's a that's a
lousy feeling. But you hope there's a lot more of
the other side than that. And you just have to
get back and put it out of your mind and
get back to work and and keep going. Why we
you know, they moved the extra point back. I think
it's thirty two yards thirty three ye and we're seeing

(22:29):
more missextra points. I get it. It's a little longer,
but it's still what we view as a chip shot
if it were a field goal. Why do you think
more guys. I think it's been great, But why do
you think guys are missing what is viewed as a
chip shot field goal when it's an extra point? Well,
I think in the past when it was twenty yards,
I mean, even if you mishit it most of the
time it goes through because you're close enough at that

(22:50):
range you can you can miss. You really can't miss
hit a thirty three yard anything and think it's gonna
go if you chunk it, if you hit it wrong,
it's gonna miss um. And then I think there's a
lot more into it than just that too. There's sometimes
you may I think the hardest kick in football right
now is an extra point after like a pick six
or something. You're sitting on the sideline, you're drinking some

(23:10):
gay or a Normally, when you're going down and your
offense is going, you're in the net. Your mind's there.
When you're on that situation, you're like, oh my goodness.
You know, you went from where's hell, you went from
decompressed of right there, and you haven't even had any
opportunities and I think sometimes those situations cause guys overthinking
situations and it becomes a little bit more difficult. But listen,
it's it seems like nothing thirty three yards, but that's

(23:33):
a mid range average field goal that if you don't
hit it, well, you're not going to make it. How
about teammates sometimes, you know what they say, kickers are
on football players. You know what I mean, they played
soccer and they just come out and kick, but they're
not a part of all the other stuff that's involved.
And then excuse me, there's a big kick to win
the game. Didn't they love you? All? Right? Is there

(23:54):
like a I think the relationship with kickers, I do
think that stereotape, that stereotype has kind of gone away
over my career. That's one hundred percent what it was
at the beginning of my career. And I think now, um,
you know, they they see we're in the weight rooms,
we're running with them. You know a lot of a
lot of the punters and kickers are really really good athletes.
You know, they they might have played another position. They

(24:14):
were a receiver or a quarterback in high school or
even to college. So you know, they give you a
little bit of guff, but you know, you all go
shoot hoops and they kick the crap out of the
other guys. I'm like, yeah, this guy can play, you know.
So so I think that the days of you know,
this European soccer player that's not an athlete just comes
out and kicks the ball, I think that stigma's kind
of gone now. So I'm happy for it, you know.
But but at the end of the day, Um, I

(24:37):
want guys to understand that it's just as important to me.
I work just as hard as everybody else in the
weight room and trying to stay fit and healthy. So
so listen, bad things can happen to any of us,
but it's not from a lack of effort and trying
and commitment and all that stuff. All right, Adam, you're
you're here. Uh I destroy the name you want to
try to that's right, Yeah, exactly exactly, Go ahead and

(25:02):
tell us a bit about that. Well, it's it's the
it's the same ingredient is prilo. Second, all this it's
just the generic brand, um store brand from from any
of the different stores that you can go to. Hey, listen,
a lot of people suffer from heartburn. This weekend, in particular, wings, chips,
fried food, all that stuff, stay, the stress of a game, whatever,

(25:23):
there's a lot of things that cause it. If you
if you suffer from frequent heartburn, this is a great medication.
And the difference from this from some of the other
name brand stuff, it's twenty to thirty percent less expensive.
So we're really pushing for this. It's it's a great drug.
It's a it's a and if for more. For more information,
visit Dissolve heartburn dot com. Dissolve I'm sorry, I'm screwed that.

(25:45):
Dissolve your heartburn dot com. Gotta dissolve your heartburn dot com.
Great stuff, Adam, it was great to have you. Really,
how long you've heard X teammate Brady talk about forty
five years old? You're forty six. How long do you
want to play? You look great? Well, I'm trying. I'm trying. Yeah.
You know, it's one of these things that I still
love running out on the field. The thing that I

(26:06):
love the most probably is the locker room stuff, you know,
being around the guys, the bantering and all that stuff.
That's the thing that I'll miss the most. But I
still love running out onto that football field in front
of the fans and putting the product out on the field.
So I look at it this way. As long as
as long as I'm still putting a good thing out

let's get to Dab Carson for the latest in sports.
Well one of the Super Bowl is the big news
of the weekend, but the big news of the day.
The Mavericks have acquired star Kristops Porzingis from the Knicks.
The multiplayer deal sends Porzingis, Tim Hardaway, Junior, Courtney Lee,

(26:50):
and Trey Burke to Dallas, with Dennis Smith Junior, two
future first round picks, and DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews
headed to New York. Both Jordan and Matthews have expiring contract.
The NBA has just announced the reserves for the upcoming
All Star Game. Western Conference reserves are Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis,
Nikola Yokich, Damian Lillard, Clay Thompson, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Karl

(27:12):
Anthony Towns. Reserves in the East Victor Oladipo, Kyle Lowry,
Blake Griffin, Chris Middleton, Ben Simmons, Bradley Beale, and Nikolavuchovic. Meanwhile,
the Cowboys will likely not be giving head coach Jason
Garrett an extension this offseason. They also announced what we
reported last week that is Kellen Moore is officially promoted
to offensive coordinator and John Kitna is the new quarterbacks coach.

glad to have with us one of the best tight

Travis Kelsey from the Kansas City Chiefs. Welcome to the
Eye Couple. Man, it's a pleasure to be here. Guys. Man,
let me you know I'm gonna start out. I'm mad
at y'all. You know that, right, I'm mad at myself.
All should be here, not the New England Patriots here.

(29:03):
I went on national television and I pleaded for you
guys to win, and y'all let me down. He actually
said he was gonna move to Mexican. Yes, I'm trying
to get him to live up to his promise, but
he won't. Was that considering the season you had, you know,
when had everything kind of you know, laid out for

(29:23):
you guys. Yeah no, that one, that one stung and
it was, Um it's still it's still sour tasting my mouth.
How it ended. I mean, we were right there. Uh
as everyone's been saying, just the coin flip away, which
is which sucks. Man. If you got the coin flip,
y'all probably would have won. Yeah No, that's it's exactly
how we feel like it would have come. But you
could say what it could have shoot all you want to.

(29:44):
You just got a man up. Figure out what the
heck really went went wrong in that first half, um,
whether it was experience of the playoffs, whether it was
just not being ready for the moment to to a
fundamental thing or a technique thing. Um, and just man
up and get better next year, that's all. We've been
and since I've been in Kansas City is every year
we've kind of gotten a little bit further along in

(30:04):
the process. And sure enough I got confidence that will
leaders to Super Bowl next year. Now, you you only
had twenty three yards receiving three catches. What did they
do like when you got out there? I'm sure you
have been watching film all week of them. Did you
see a whole different scheme than you guys expect, like
what they do to take you out of the game.
I think, Um, I think what they do well is uh,

(30:26):
not only the man coverage, but I think they're they're
they're what they do upfront, um, that is they play,
they put five guys, they've they've put five guys on
the line of scrimmage to to to where the offensive
line has to account for those five guys. And outside
of that, they man up and they play in your
in your face press coverage. UM. And from their experience

(30:46):
of the playoffs, they play the game of Oh, we're
gonna put it in the ref's hands. We're gonna make
these refs call the call this holding and call this
past interference. UM. And sure enough, early on they weren't
calling any of it, and um, whether or not that
I mean, that's not an excuse. You gotta be able
to beat man and man coverage and understand that you
know they're gonna be They're gonna hold the hell out
of you until it gets called. Um, we just gotta

(31:09):
be ready for that. And sure enough, I don't think
we were quite ready for how much the games that
they were they run up front that I said they
do so well where they got guys twisting and turning.
The offensive line has to be on high alert of
what's really going on out there, and sure enough they
got We couldn't get off man coverage and there was
a lot of pressure on the QB. So just all

(31:30):
in all, everybody was playing pretty bad in the first half.
I was gonna say Patrick Mahomes obviously had an unbelievable
season the second year in the NFL, But there was
one play in that first half that I think people
don't remember or go back to. When you guys were
in field goal range range and he wound up taking
that sack that took you out of field goal range.

(31:52):
Could have changed the game. It could have been seven
to three, and then you didn't get any points out
of that in the Patriots score at the end of
the first half down four teams. Oil Man, was that
a sequence right there? That's that's one of the things
that you look back on that, uh, you know, we
really we dropped the ball right there. You know, there's opportunities. Man,
the game is down to a game of inches at

(32:14):
this point. I mean it was more prevalent in the
Chicago Philly game the week before, where we saw lift
the ball would have been two inches to the right. Now,
that's a game the game overfars win, right um, And
even in this one, I mean, I hate to put
it on him, but coach Reid was stand up man
after the season and d Ford, man, he's four inches
off sides, you know, but he said it best is that,

(32:34):
you know, we all could have been four inches better
in the right direction. It wasn't just DeFord and that
play that that could have sealed us the game. It
was it was an entire team effort and a whole
just on the offensive side of the ball. Just wasn't
a very good performance in that first half. Obviously, Alex
Smith was a good quarterback for you guys, But when
Mahomes got there two years or a few years ago,

(32:55):
did you guys see right away, Oh this guy is special?
Like could you how soon did you know? Uh? He's special?
We gotta get him started. The thing is when he
walked in the room, I mean, he's he grew up around.
He grew up around the ballpark, so he grew up
around the locker room and the group around ball players.
He gets it, man, he understands exactly what the atmosphere

(33:16):
is like, how to have fun around different personalities, how
to be a brother to everyone on the team. He's
very relatable, So I mean just having that confidence in
who he was and it kind of just oozing out
of him. You could tell he was special. He didn't
necessarily know if he was gonna, you know, be a
little gun shy when he got in there, but at
that point in time, when he walked in the locker

(33:38):
room after he got picked, I mean you could tell
the kid was special. Christ and I talk all the time.
As he goes forward and what a record breaking year
he had. There will be adjustments and the right by
other teams and defenses as we go into the second half.
So so do you have does he have to also
make adjustments and realize that what do you got last year.

(34:00):
He probably is gonna be what he gets to as
much without a doubt. I mean, there's there's gonna have
to be some type of change in the defensive schemes
and how they're how they're going against the run game,
because I really do think everything is based off of
the run game. I mean, he's Patrick is so creative
and how he throws the ball and how he plays
the game that the run game is now a part

(34:22):
of the pass game. In terms of every single run
that we have, there's an option to pass. So if
he sees something on the defense that he likes the
pass better, he's gonna pull the ball and throw the pass.
And then it's not that uncommon. But at the same time,
with his creative underhand side arm all of that, he

(34:43):
could be looking over here to the right while there's
a pass concept to the left, reading the linebacker that's
sitting in the middle of the field, and he's just
no looking everything, just making sure he's tricking everybody with
their eyes. So there's gonna have to be some type
of adjustment. But he's such a competitor, and on top
of that, you got Andy read at the him. I
mean you got, you got a guy that's very creative,
has changed the game in terms of play calling and

(35:05):
and play and how plays are are rand and sure enough,
I think with that combination, that's a deadly combination. Now,
I know you guys are a team, but you know
your offense was phenomenal and the defense gave up a
lot of points. I'm sorry you saw what happened with
defensive corda first half the first half, But how do

(35:27):
you guys? I mean, obviously you don't want to jump
on your your other teammates all the time, but you
know what I mean, how do you deal with that
dynamic when you might be putting you I think in
your losses, you guys averaged like thirty six or thirty
eight players you put the point you still lost. So
how do you deal with that when one side of
the balls not getting it done like the other is
you just gotta have the mind frame that you know what,

(35:48):
we're a complete team. Um with the amount of points
that we're putting up. Uh, it changes the scheme of
a defense. That is that is you play a little
bit different when you're when you have a big lead, right,
so you kind of play a little bit more conservative.
But I think, um, you just I mean the name
of the games put the points up. So that's what
we're doing as an offense. We're worrying about our side

(36:09):
and our side only that's all we can't worry about.
So I mean what the defense was doing over there, Um,
we just had we just had to have and build
confidence that our team are the makeup of our team
was gonna keep fighting all the way to the end,
into the fourth quarter no matter how the game went along.
And sure enough, in a few games, defense stepped up huge.
I mean the Baltimore Ravens game. If they don't play

(36:30):
that well late in the game, we don't win that game.
So it was just it's a weird makeup. But at
the end of the day, I think we just believed
in each other. I want to ask you quickly and
then I want to get into the product you're working with.
But how tough was it for you? Guys? Kept moving,
kept it kept on trucking without Kareem, you know, But

(36:51):
how tough was that in the locker room and you
know what happened with him? Yeah, I mean Kareem was
in that locker room. He was he was he was
a locker room favorite. Um, we didn't know him to
be that guy. That is he He doesn't come off
as a guy that's very hostile or anything like that. UM,
very soft spoken, east Side of Cleveland kid, I know

(37:12):
very We know him. Before I knew him, he was
younger than me. I don't think he was in high
school when I was when I was going through high school.
But I knew of him without a doubt, just through
the ranks, and um, you know, it was it was
definitely something. It was. It was hard to field that
that brotherhood that is Damien was new to the team.
He was he had just got along this year and

(37:34):
he hadn't really been in the role of getting the
ball a lot. So with him going doing with Kareem
what happened with Kareem going on, we kind of like
lost a brother. But Damien stepped up. People love him
even more so now than they did before, And I'm
happy for the guy. He got another contract in casey

(37:54):
and I think he's gonna show up and be one
of the best running backs we got. All right, Well,
you partner with Emergent Bios Solutions, So tell us a
bit about that. So Emergent BioSolutions is uh, the makers
of a nasal in the locks in, which is something
that's that's saving lives out here. And uh, I just
want to use my my platform to help get more

(38:14):
awareness and education on opioids overdose. It's something that's uh,
that's that's hit home in Ohio where I'm from. Ohio
has unfortunately been the leader in terms of deaths on
this opioid overdose is it's uh, it kills me to
hear that, UM and at the knowing that UM all
over the United States is the problem. People are just

(38:34):
unaware of the medicines that they're taking. UM, the education
behind it. You can go to www dot be prepared,
I mean be aware, be prepared dot com um and
get get a better understanding of not only this this
nasal in the locks in product, but just opioids in
general and understanding what you're taking. All right. Well, yeah,

(38:56):
and one last thing on a lighter note, I went
into McDonald's and did a dance and they put me
in handcuffs. You know what I mean? One they gave
you a double one and the extra happy meal. What
was that was that? Is that you dancing in the commercial? Oh? Yeah?
Not like a stunt dancer or not trying to say,

(39:20):
just trying what I was doing. What I was doing
in that video was not rhythm. It was just going
fazzing out. It was bad. I was just happy to
be in the McDonald's. That's a spot, all right, Travis,

and that's King of Queen's one of my favorite sitcoms.
Let me tell you about car shopping, Rob. Car shopping
could be confused in terms like dealer price list, price invoice.
What you need is true car because true car shows
you what other people paid for the car you want.
That way you can recognize what's a good price and

(40:24):
what's a bad price. When you're ready to buy a
new or even a used car, make sure you visit
true car and get your confidence up. All right, Jerry
Jones could have gotten Jason Garrett's confidence up by giving
him a CONTRACTIC like that, you sound like your radio guy,
But he didn't give him. The story is that, according

(40:45):
to sources, Jerry Jones is unlikely to extend Jason Garrett
next year. It will be his last year on his contract.
I like it. This notion that coaches can't coach on
the last year their deal is ridiculous. I'm not a
Jason Garrett fan as far as like like, he's this
great coach. I got you. But if you're looking at

(41:06):
it and saying he won the division big but two
out a horrible division, two out of three years, and
and you're not gonna give him another not a big contract,
maybe add another year to it. And this way if
you let him go, no, I'm going against so many
I just you giving him props for winning the division.

(41:28):
But you can't will you won't give Marv Leavy props
for making four straight superloss four that's dubious. This dude
has lost four straight times in the regular He's only
been the three playoffs in nine years. And you raid
extending I'm glad you aren't running the Dallas Cowboys. I Couple.

Rob Parker, we started off the show last hour by

(42:36):
talking about this blockbuster trade, if we can call it that,
between the New York Knicks and the Dallas Mavericks, which
essentially sent Chris Stopsporzingis, the seven foot three inch phenom
when he's healthy. Yes, from New York to Dallas. He's
a good player. Man's much better than people thought because

(42:56):
they hadn't seen him. Remember when he got drafted, a
lot of people who was Ryan, Oh yeah, I was like,
oh my god. The Knicks blew it again, and they
don't know what they're doing and why didn't they drive him?
He wound up being and the Knicks get Dennis Smith
Junior is the main piece. DeAndre Jordan's also in the
trade going into New York Knicks. But Rob we talked

(43:20):
about it from a standpoint of both teams. I think
it's a good trade for both teams. I think, right,
you get the foundation with Luca don Chich, Christops for Zenis,
who know each other. I think there's a good chance
for Zingis will stay there long term. Dirk Davitski is
obviously gonna talk to him. Sure, he's a hero of
for zingis Is. Come on, so uh, they have the

(43:43):
foundation for a future contender. The Knicks, on the other hand,
have cap room and I for two max players, and
I think there's a pretty decent chance they get Kevin
Garden Durant and Kyrie Irvy. Now an angle that people
have not looked at at least a possibility of it
now right, And I think here's a good possibility. What

(44:05):
people have not looked at, though, is how this trade
could actually benefit the Los Angeles Lakers. Hear me out.
You're gonna try to four hot water on what I'm saying,
but hear me out. Okay, Let's say Kyrie Irving and
Kevin Durant both go to the Knicks this summer. So

(44:26):
Kyrie obviously is no longer in Boston. That will mean
Anthony Davis does not want to go to Boston and
stay there long term. Okay, so sure, if you take
the Knicks. The Knicks were a team that also was
in the Anthony Davis sweepstakes. And let's say, you know,

(44:46):
they get Durant and Kyrie. They obviously don't have room
for Davis in terms of, you know, financial they can't
get it done. You can talk about what would they
give up the first pick? Even if they will give
up the first pick, you have to have the salaries
that can get you Anthony Davis first round pick isn't
gonna draft pick is not gonna be worth enough, so

(45:08):
you have to have some other salaries to throw in
there to get Davis. So let's take them out of
the race. Obviously, that leaves the Lakers. There's reports that
Rich Paul is agent is already telling teams that he
wants to he will only sign long term with the
LA Lakers. So now, if Boston doesn't have Kyrie and

(45:31):
they're essentially out of it at Danny Age would be
nuts at that point to trade for Anthony Davis. He
may try, but and then the Knicks are out of it.
That helps the Lakers, and the Lakers could get him
in a trade, not just waiting until twenty twenty as
a free agent. Yeah, just like, uh okay, see what's

(45:51):
crazy to trade for a guy who wound up sticking
around other teams? Just like we just saw Kawhi Leonard
going to Anto. Don't tell me that win Kawhi leaves
and no, but that's fine, But that doesn't mean that
another team wouldn't wouldn't still jump in and say maybe
we could get Mike make teams classical. But I'm just saying,

(46:12):
if you got a franchise that ain't going nowhere and
say we could maybe make a run or there's an
opening for us, and well, I'll give up. We're not
winning anyway. We could bring a star guy and try
to woo him. Maybe he likes it here. We don't know.
You can't tell me that teams wouldn't take a chance.
That don't be a couple. That's all I'm saying. Danny Age,

(46:32):
Mike Right, Denny Age. He has said he will, at
least according to report right, And I think if Kyrie
is there, he definitely will. No no doubt about the
Kyrie's gone. I just think it. Are you giving up
Jason Tatum, Terry Let's say Kyrie's gone, You're giving up.
I'm asking you, you run the Boston Celties. Would you
give up Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown and Terry Rogier and

(46:54):
say two draft picks? They got a ton of picks.
Anthony Davis. Yeah, yeah, I wouldn't make that trade. So
if Davis leaves, you're you are depleted. I get it.
But if you think you're still without Kyrie and without Davis,
remember this ride. Oh, I guess still have the team
that went to the Eastern Conference Final. But about those two.
I get it, but I'm not buying into that they

(47:16):
could make that same run. Those players have not Why
I might be out of the East, I know, but
I'm just saying those players haven't been the same players.
Would you admit this year? That's because Kyrie's taking more
shots to stand up change and style. Yeah, it's changed.
I see. I look, I get what you're saying. I'm
just saying, yeah, you know, you're right, there's a team
or two or three that's gonna take the chance night

(47:36):
if I'm Boston though, and I'm for it. Like if
Kyrie resigned and Anthony Davis is still saying bad but
I'm I want to go to the Lakers, I would
take the chance. I would I got Kyrie. If Kyrie's
not there anymore, I'm not giving up all that because
even without Davis, I've and Kyrie. I've still got a

(47:59):
high eye level playoff team in the East. And I
keep my draft picks. Maybe one of those picks turns
into another star. Yeah, but they have so many picks,
don't they. I mean, well, I know they got some
of them, are lord right, But I'm just saying I
hear you, and I get it. I just don't want
to give it to the Laker. You just don't want
to give in to any No. I don't any way,
shape or form that the Lakers could trade for Anthony exactly.

(48:22):
I just think it's bad. I think if I if
I was a Pelicans fan, I would be very disappointed
in my organization. I don't care what we get back
in return. It's not like they got uh, They're gonna
get a lottery pick or anything like that. You know
what I mean when you have something where you have
a shot. If you're telling me I got a guarantee
lottery pick, or I'm they trade him to a bad

(48:44):
team and we have a chance to go get a
star player. I've warmed up to that. I got it.
He's leaving. We need to do something. But Chris, I
cannot sign or endorse that the Lakers basically poached out
or top player and you just went along with it
and handed him over for a bad Laker team that

(49:07):
without Lebron is not that good. Last year they won
thirty five game. The core that you're telling me about
hasn't impressed me enough that I think, oh yeah, wow, yeah.
But would you rather like if Boston and New York
are now off the table. Well, I mean, obviously you'd
have to take a look at what's available. But I'm
just saying, you know what I'm saying, Like Kuzma, I'm

(49:28):
with you, they're not some great core. It ain't Kuzman
is a good player. Would you admit that? No? I
like Kuzma, but I'm just saying him, you know, not bad.
He didn't blossom the way everybody know what he was. Linzo,
you know, has potential. We'll see. I mean, I've seen
a few nights, but we've seen a lot of bad
night right. But I'm saying that's better than losing him

(49:50):
for nothing, and it's also better than going through You
could even say, well they play hardball, we didn't keep
him on the team, and if it turns into a
freak and they're not going to do the disaster of
a season. Remember when Mellow was in Denver's last year
ruined the season, When the White was in Orlando is
ruined the season. You get that. No, I'm not for

(50:10):
them holding on to him for another full year, but
they're not. They shouldn't trade him at the trade deadline.
They should wait it out to see how all those
pieces fall. Maybe maybe I agree, Yeah, definitely, don't trade
him at deadline here, But I'm saying, okay, whatever happening
him to the Lakers in the summer, I would not
trade him to the Lakers under any circumstances. If I

(50:33):
was the GM. What if the Lakers? What about this
circumstance if the Lakers work out, Because if you look,
if they're calling you and you're like, Boston's out of it,
New York's out of it, it's summer, it's August, and
you say, look, we need more, go out and get
a third or maybe fourth team involved in the deal,

(50:53):
and if you can get us a bonafide star, then
we'll do well. I say, you get a bonafide star.
That could take a look at that. But I'm just
saying on the principle of it and what the Lakers
have done and are involved in. And remember, it would
be different. It would be different if Lebron wasn't there
and Rich Paul wasn't his agent. They just feel like

(51:15):
they just came and stole our guy from trying to
Would you agree with that, well, I would agree before
the deadline if they do it before the deadline, you're right.
They just got punk right, just bullied you. They grabbed
you by the college. Give me a guy, right, give
me now in the summer, after I've considered Boston, after
I've considered New York, You know what I mean? Like that,

(51:37):
to me, that's a different story if they were, if
they were painted into a corner and had no other options.
But maybe, But I'm just saying I wouldn't be I
would look high and low for something else if I could. Well,
here's another thing. There was a report that they might
not play Anthony Davis. They're not gonna suspend him, but
sit him out for like the rest of the year

(51:57):
or something. There's talking. I don't want to say it's
a report. There's some scuttle but about that. You know what,
I gotta be honest. If I'm New Orleans, I'm kind
of cool with that. Like like you've always say, if
you don't want to be here right now, we're not
trading you before the deadline, but just go away right
like like the Rockets. It's different circumstances. But like the
Rockets did with Mellow, like look go away, get away

(52:19):
from us. You know, when this time for you to trade,
trade well, we got a trade. We'll let you know.
You don't want to play here, fine, but you won't
play here, get out, go to Chicago and chill for
the rest of the year, if you If that's how
you feel, like what you just did to our organization,
you dropped the ball around us. We just had last year. Man,
we went to the playoffs, we won the first round.

(52:41):
Look like beat and you'd be a Golden State. Right.
In one of those games they want to gain, they
win the game. I'm not sure if they didn't they
win a game. I thought the New Orleans won one
game against Golden State. They won one, right, that's what
they won one. So, Chris, we had a nice little
thing going in Anthony Davis had a great deal without
Bookie Cousins. But you know what I'm saying, so so

(53:02):
for you to surrow on us this quickly, where last
year we made all the injuries, right, and we haven't
even really given us a chance right now, you're right.
And here's the other thing. It actually would help New
Orleans in the draft lottery because you presumably you'll be
worse without Anthony Davis, right, and you'll lose more games.
It enhances your chances there's some Yahoo is reporting after

(53:27):
missing nearly five weeks with a growing injury, Laker star
Lebron James plans to make his return tonight against the Clippers.
So he is playing the night. Yeah, that's that's that's
more like it. We were told earlier that he wasn't
playing the night, that he thought he wasn't playing. Yeah,
he is playing the night. I thought he was gonna

(53:47):
play in the last game tonight. You know. Hey, he's back.
He needs to come back. I mean, if he's healthy
and it's been five weeks, it was a three to
six week injury. He's back. So but yeah, it's uh,
it's really in to rest in time in the NBA
always is before the trade deadline. The name to watch now,
rob is Jimmy Butler. The big name watch and see,

(54:09):
because if Philadelphia decides it does not want to sign
him to a long term deal, then they need to
just trade him and get something for him rather than
lose him for nothing. So keep an eye on Jimmy Butler.
All right, now that the Knicks are out of the running,
is Anthony Davis destined to become a Laker. We'll continue
the conversation with you. Next, it's The Eye Couple live

one of my favorite sitcoms. Can you still say that?

(56:23):
I think so. I don't know. You're not gonna admit it. Huh.
It was a great show though, No, the show was great,
but I mean another stuff he should it's terrible. Seriously,
it's terrible. You know that you have daughters. Man, I
know it's foul. It's it's beyond foul, right right, all
I'm saying this was a good show. No one was

(56:44):
a good show. That was good show. It's a lot
of artists out there that you know, they make good
music and good art, but they're sickles. No I got you,
you know, And and we're not gonna name all the names.
We don't have any time on the show, right, But Rob,
I know you might be in the market for a
new car, a new car. Trying to push you along.

(57:05):

sitting here letting them just hold onto your car. Still
haven't got my car after they dealership crashed it. I'm
gonna through an oil change and I got a car accident.

(57:49):
Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Your chance to weigh in. I actually think this new
this trade between the Knicks and the Mavericks could be
a good sign and work out well for the LA Lakers.
And if you just want to weigh in on the
trade in general, what do you think? Are you mad

(58:09):
at the Knicks? You got a chance to do that?
Eight seven, seven ninety nine five. All right, GW and
Cincinnati your first up on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's going on? Fell? I was appreciate you
taking my calls. Hey, hey, Chris, I mean you and
Rob we're talking about the Psenis trade. And I'll tell
you what, man, I've never been met in press with Portsinkers,

(58:30):
And I'll tell you what. If I was starting, if
all was starting a team to day and I have
the team to pick between Portzingers and Luca Doctors, I
would take Doctors in the heartbeat. And I've only seen
him playing for off of freasons. Well, I agree with that,
but that don't mean can't play. Yeah, I mean just
seven one. He's awesome, hurried his rookie year. His rookie year,

(58:55):
he played seventy two games. His next year he played
sixty six, and he only played forty eight last years.
I get it. He is injured is, but look at
some of the numbers, right, The dude can play. The
last season he was healthy last year averaged twenty three
points a game. That ain't nothing to sneeze at. Sorry shout,
almost forty percent from three. No, no, no, he's a
bad boy. He'll be number two to don Chitch. I

(59:18):
think that's a good time, no doubt about it. What
about Leslie in Houston? You're on the odd couple Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Leslie? I was going, Rob Man,
I gotta tell you, I'm a little up saying with you, man,
but I do. Basically, you're saying that you would wait
and till the summer to trade him. But the fact is,
if Danny ain't decides, hey man, I'm just gonna give

(59:39):
you two cats up packets and a bag of Nichols
and the Knicks I've decided that they're out, you still
wouldn't trade him to the Lakers because you're in your feelings.
It ain't about being in your feelings, it's about you.
You're not gonna punk me and take my player, and
I'm not gonna help you. So you all, you Laker

(01:00:00):
fans who think that every player becomes available, is going
to the Lakers. Uh, Pop showed you he won sending
Kawhi there. Oh he should just sink Kawai to La
because you want to be in La Popa and Popa.
Whatever you do and go do it. These guys don't
want to play, Uh didn't. They're not gonna here to
help the Lakers. I'm sorry about that. And because rich

(01:00:22):
Ball is involved and Lebron James, if you're if you're,
if you're New Orleans, you can't look and have your
fans thinking that you cave and that you you succumbed
to the Lakers. It makes no sense, Leslie, you know
what you do? Rob just did Leslie? Is he put
a macho face on being in your feelings? Is that right?

(01:00:44):
Still in your feelings? You know what? I puffed out
my chest the way you and your feelings puffed out
my chest. Man, you ain't taking my due. I get
it robbed before the deadline. And I don't know if
Leslie suggesting that they should trade him before know he's
thinking about right now? No no luckly, sorry, no no way,

(01:01:05):
I mean they lucky he's even picking up the phone
right but in the summer, when all the other options
have been explored. Then you don't. If it's first deal
presented to you. You're about to lose a franchise player
who's twenty six years old? Are you crazy? Right? No,
I gotta open up for the whole league, all right?

(01:01:27):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine, Johnny and Las Vegas.
You're on the odd couple, Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Johnny? Hey,
what's up? Fella? What's talk about? Corn zingis trade? I'm
a Knicks fan living in Vegas, and really I'm upset because,

(01:01:48):
as just as a fan, I enjoyed watching the Unicorn
played basketball. He was fun, he dumped on people, he
block shot, he made step back three pointers, buzzer beaters,
and I haven't seen that. I haven't been excited from
a Knicks player. Then the mellow and then sad to
see that gold and what about what about it now

(01:02:10):
gives you the cap room seventy five million dollars? And
and look, I'm not I'm not. These are not just
names I'm throwing out. And then look, I'm not saying
it's definitely happening, but they were legitimate chance of getting
Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irvy. I'm sure you take that
over Porzingis, of course. But who's gonna sign first, Who's

(01:02:32):
gonna who's gonna be the first. They're gonna talk to
each other. They're gonna talk to each other, But Johnny
talk Johnny. If you don't gonna make sure they're both
doing it, if you don't have the cap room, you
can't do it anyway. And where were they going? Porzingis,
You're right, he's a really good player. You know what.
The Knicks were going home, dinner, maybe a show, that's all.
They were going anywhere? Thank you, all right, thank you brother,

(01:02:56):
all right. Two times Super Bowl champion James Harrison is
one of the baddest men on the planet. He has
a bone to pick with Rob Parker. You want to
watch Rob sprint watch this. He gonna run away from
James Harrison. That's next. But first let's bring a Dab
Carson for the latest in sports. Dab Hey, guys, Well
you guys were talking about. It's the sort of breaking news.

(01:03:18):
Lakers star Lebron James will return from his groin injury
and playing tonight's game against the Clippers. According to Chris
Haynes of Yahoo's sports coach Luke Walton had said yesterday
Lebron was being ruled out for tonight's matchup, but he
was upgraded to doubtpool earlier today and now Yahoo is
saying he is playing. You know all a big trade
today the Mavericks have acquired Christops Porzingis from the Knicks.

(01:03:38):
It's a multiplayer deal that sends Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Junior,
Courtney Lee, and Trey Burke to Dallas, with Dennis Smith Junior,
two future first round picks, and deanre Jordan and Wesley
Matthews headed to New York. Both Jordan and Matthews have
expiring at contracts. Cavaliers forward Kevin Love took part in
a full contact scrimmage today as he works to return
from his left foot sir jury. Online car shopping can

It is the Matericks, with a four point lead at
Detroit fifty fifty is seven to fifty one to go
in the third quarter. Four to go a third quarter
in Orlando, Pacers lead the Magic sixty five sixty one

(01:04:24):
and the Bucks are trailing at Toronto twenty five twenty
lead for the Raptors over Milwaukee less than a minute
to go in the first quarter. We'll be back with
the Odd Couple in ten seconds. But first toward from Farmers.
I'm a dog accidentally flooding a living room to a
dog taking a joy ride. We've covered it. Talk to farmers.
We know a thing or two. Because we've seen a
thing or two. We are farmers under written my Farmers

(01:05:09):
which way is easier. And we are glad to be
joined by two times Super Bowl champ you see him
all over FS one, Fox Sports One. It's none other
than James Harrison. What's our brothers? Good man doing real good?
Just happy to be here man? Yeah? Yeah, what what
do you come most years? When you know when you guys?
Actually my first time ever coming that I haven't played

(01:05:32):
in it? Why So, what's it like being on this side,
you know versus a lot less stressful? Yeah, it's a
lot easier to It's a lot easier to do, a
lot easier to communicate, deal with. And I don't have
to sit there and stick to a crazy regiment of
you know, body work and practice. It's really like great
to sit back and not have to worry about Yeah,

(01:05:54):
like I'm not on any emotional roller coaster each week,
just up and down with goods and bads. You know.
It's uh, it's good. We are you? Are you all
into the Patriots because obviously you played up there? Are you? Like?
I want to see him win, no question? You still
feel like a kinship? Yeah, I mean it's a you know,
if the Stillers aren't in it, then you know the

(01:06:14):
Patriots will be the next team when they play. You
don't know Tom Brady personally, do you me no, can
you introduce me. I need to talk to Tomsen. I'm
gonna tell him he can't go. He's the low luckiest
of all time. Come on now, I'm gonna tell you
right now, tell me listen. He is one of the

(01:06:35):
most genuine people that you will ever mean doubt that.
I just say he ain't the greatest quarterback all time?
Yes he is? Who the greatest quarterback? You go way
give me out and then you can't way he got?
He gonna hit you with the same I don't, I don't,
I don't care. I don't care about here that I needs.
This man been in nine games that being. It ain't

(01:06:55):
about going, It's about winning. How many Joe got Joe
is four? No, how many knew he got he only
went four and got four. It got all. It don't matter,
eleven down, no picks. I don't care. He won two
with Jerry Rice, two without Jerry Rice. He won with
two different coaches. The people that I'm just giving you

(01:07:15):
all the numbers. He has a higher quarterback without one.
Come on, now, you know Brady ain't the greatest. If
he lose, you're gonna be five and four. You're gonna
tell me that's the greatest. He lost to Eli twice.
He lost to a backup quarterback. How he the best?
So I guess because Jim Kelly went there three times.
He ain't no good. He went four four. He ain't
no good. He went three times straight right, four times straight,

(01:07:37):
four straights. So he ain't no good. He ain't win.
It ain't about about winning. I ain't say it ain't
no good. But they ain't no all time great robs
on this island by himself, he knows, he knows about it.
You're about to die, uh thirst. Nobody bringing no supplies
over here. So you who you picking in this game?

(01:07:57):
You're picking the two? Are you just pulling for him?
What do they do? I mean? Look against the Kansas
City Chiefs during the regular season, the Chiefs had the
best pass rush. The Patriots had one of the worst.
In that game, they were all over Mahomes and Kansas
City couldn't get to Tom Brady. How do when you've

(01:08:20):
been in there to see how they make adjustments, how
they change game plans and all that, what did they
do to just totally flip the script like they did
against Kansas City? In that regard? They went in there
and they saw what it is that they do good
and what it is that they they see what Kansas
City does good, and they see what they do good.

(01:08:42):
So what they do is try and take away what
Kansas City does good that matches what they do good.
They're not gonna come in there and try and make
their players do something that they know they can't do.
They have six seven, eight different personnels for defenses where
they switch different people in and out according to what
it is they want that person to do or feel
that person is better at doing. So he's going to
go in there and he's gonna try and take away

(01:09:03):
exactly what it is you're good at and make you
do what it is you're not good at. Most people,
everybody that goes to practice practices on what you're good at,
and you get better at that as a team as
a unit. Nobody goes in there and says, our game
plan is to go in here and try and do
what we don't do well. Once you start taking that away,
people gotta adjust, and you gotta be able to adjust.

(01:09:24):
And a lot of people can't tell me, tell me
about the Rams and Dominicans who's been playing much better,
and then just tell me about their defense and what
I mean, Oh, their defensive line is awesome. Um you
know with Aaron Donald you need to so, you need
to um so. But the big thing is, even with
those guys, tom Brady is the equalizer. I don't care

(01:09:50):
tom Brady's getting rid of the ball. What in two
point four, two point seven something like somewhere around there.
If I come it don't matter. It don't need to
go far. If I come off the edge and you
don't touch me, I can barely get there in two seconds.
All you gotta do is put a body in front
of him and slow him down so he could get
the ball off. Tom Brady is the equalizer. His offensive

(01:10:10):
line don't have to be crazy good. They just need
to be able to stand in front of someone and
hit him two or three times so that he has
that extra half a second to get rid of that ball.
But they, but they, there were teams that got to
Brady this year and took him up a spot. So
it's not impossible to do. I'm saying it's not impossible
even with this quick release, right, it's not impossible. But

(01:10:31):
at the same time, what you gotta do. You gotta
bump up these receivers. You gotta you gotta jam these
guys in line. You gotta throw off Timy so they
have it to do. But like you said, you're talking
about big games where they've had time to prepare on
both sides of the ball, so they're gonna do things.
He's gonna he's gonna set up things so that you're
not able to just sit there and pin your ears

(01:10:52):
back and take off, or you're not able to just
sit there and stack the box and try. And you know,
man up, it's the eye couple were joyed by two
super Bowl champion James Harrison. And you mentioned your your
other former team, the Steelers. Um, why is there always
drama coming out of there, whether it's Leveon, whether it's Antonio,

(01:11:12):
whether everyone I want to call Leveyon drama. That's not drama,
that's just a contractors field. Okay, but it cost him
a seat. You know what I'm saying. He no, no, no,
Levon is doing what every man is allowed to do.
It's no his worth and get what his worth is.
And for people to judge man talk about another man's
money and that him not being there. He didn't sign that.
But he didn't sign he didn't sign the franchise tag

(01:11:35):
and say Okay, I'm signing it and I'll be here.
He never even signed it. But there was drama within
his teammates. You mentioned exactly they came out. I don't
say it as they talked about as drama. That shouldn't
have been That shouldn't have been built into drama. It
shouldn't have turned the drama. Why does it always? You know,
And I ain't blaming Levion for it, No, I'm just
saying his you know, the offensive lineman came out, talked

(01:11:56):
about his money and other player. That's the first time
I've ever seen that's the same with me. That's first
I've ever seen that in my life where players win
against another player because he didn't take the offer that
was given to him, right, Not that he signed it
and said hey, I'm gonna sign the task right, he
never even signed it, right, Like yeah, so, um you

(01:12:18):
know that, and you know, uh, you know the thing
at the at the end, Um, you know, I think
it's just uh, it's just I guess it's it's a
combination of things just stacking on, you know, and you
think they need some changes there organizationally, not coaching firings
or anything like that. But just get stuff tighter. So

(01:12:42):
you don't have right right. I think, I think, I think, uh,
he may need to type down and I don't know
if that's possible when you've been there that long now
that you want to type down, people respond, right, But
this is this is the thing though. See, winning covers
up a lot of things. So when you're winning, no
one talks about this. This stuff was going on before,

(01:13:04):
you had these issues before. It's just that now you're
not winning. Now you didn't make the playoffs. Now everything
is magnified. Oh it was this all it was that
so and so was late. It's been other guys that
have been late that don't start that miss a whole Saturday.
It's been other guys that do everything that you've heard
of these stars doing, but you didn't hear nothing about

(01:13:27):
it because at that time we were winning and it
wasn't nothing. Now you're not winning, you're not making the playoffs,
and all of a sudden, oh that's it. That's it
right there, that's what it was. But they've they've thrown
out olive branches. You know, to Antonio Brown, I know
you talked to him. Can you see a reconciliation, you
see them being back together next year? For me, personally,

(01:13:50):
I don't. I don't think that'll that'll happen. I think
it's uh. I think it may be a little too
far gone, but I could see him back there. If
things don't necessarily work out how the organization wants it to,
then they'll have to find men that relationship. How much

(01:14:14):
does Ben need to change? I don't think men needs
to change, be honestly. Okay, okay, all right, all right,
Well you're here on behalf of Party's Biscuit to the
House us. Tell us about that. Okay, So we're celebrating
the tenth anniversary of my pick of Kurt, So basically
the Biscuit to the House. Yes, question about it. So
we're doing a Biscuits to the House campaign. So the

(01:14:37):
premise is this, if in Sunday, any team returns a
biscuit to the house, Party's is going to unlock its
famous homemade his famous made from scratch Oh yeah, made
from scratch sausage biscuits to everyone on Friday, February eighth,
from seven a to ten P from seven eight to

(01:14:57):
ten A. Sorry, okay, and they'll be giving those away,
you know, nice, yes, free, Okay, I'll meet you at
six fifty nine nine. They're gonna make you wait a minute.
They're gonna make you wait a minute to to they
get them the fresh biscus. Ma, I want a free
biscuits like Grandmama used to make. That's what they say. Yeah,
they're good, They're good. They flaky. They're the good flaky

(01:15:20):
car too nice and buttery cool. All right, thank you, James.

we take a second and share thoughts on some of
the stories that are happening outside of the world of sports.
Everyone here has a worldly views and one of the

(01:17:07):
big stories that happened this week involves Beyonce. Her and
Jay z are challenging all of their fans to go vegan,
and what they're willing to do here is if you
go vegan, you sign up for their their green Print project,
you could possibly win thirty years of free tickets to
every one of their concerts. So here's the question, here's

(01:17:31):
the game. Possibly, here's the question. How far would you
be willing to go to get lifetime tickets to your
favorite musical act? I wish she would ask me to
go vegan and hcaweed and water and you know you're
hurting Alex as fuck. I'm sorry, Alex feelings right, but

(01:17:52):
that's what heat. First of all, how does she know
I'm really going vegan? Right? She's monitoring my meals and
so it's just a whole con sign up on the website.
But you still couldn't. I could eat whatever I want.
I could be eating an apple turnover at nine o'clock
at night, you know what I mean, which is just
what you went and bought in Arcs during the break

(01:18:15):
No with with whole milk. I'm gonna be honest. As
much as I love music and I've seen some great
conference concerts in my day, I don't need to see
have lifetime tickets to anybody I gotta be honest, like,
I like concerts, but do I need to I'm not
the type that needs to see somebody twenty five times
in concert. Right. I saw Earth Wind and Fire. It

(01:18:37):
was great, and I could go see him again. But
I don't have to see him thirty times, right right,
I had to follow him on tour and things like that. Now,
my wife loves Shaka Khan and she's seen Shota Khan
probably twelve times. All right, maybe she would, I don't know. Now.
I want to change for you though, if it was
like a one time event that you know, Michael Jackson
was still alive, Let's say he's I'm doing one more
concert at the Rose Bowl, But you gotta go egan

(01:19:00):
for a year, for thirty years, no fore to get
a ticket? Would you be willing to do it? Then? No? No?
Hey what about you? I see Beyonce and Carter it's incredible,
But I'm never going vegan because I hate Alex and
everything Alex, you and your feelings, Alex? Would you do it? Well?
What's funny is is I think I have two years

(01:19:21):
in so that's two lifetimes full of tickets. Oh yeah, honestly,
I'm all four people bringing consciousness to healthier eating and
about yourself and being aware of what you put in
your body. I'm all for it. I mean, if that's
what's going to get people to be better eating, I'm
sign me up. Man. I'm not I'm not so sure
Alex is gonna be a vegan for the rest of
his life. For the rest of my life, but I
think he's got about another year and a half, two

(01:19:42):
years in baby burgers like the rest of it. Debb,
where are you on Queen? What's her queen being? Yeah? No,
I love her. I think she's brilliant. I don't I'm
not gonna do anything for a year to get tickets
to see anybody, right, right, No, I do it for
a week. But I mean, I think I could go
ve for a month. But but I don't know that.

(01:20:02):
I don't know that that's necessarily the incentive. You know,
if I could have a box at Cowboys Stadium for
a full season, I would go vegan for a month.
Now now dead. But the only thing I bad, the
only problem. May tell you what about being vegan if
you can find Like if I if I was wealthy
enough where I had a personal chef that could make

(01:20:25):
me great vegan meals. I would be willing to go yeah,
do everything. Yeah, you know what I mean, I just
have to eat it. But but I would be willing
to go vegan for a while. But this is the problem.
This is the problem that that Beyonce doesn't understand. All
now we're gonna have all of these animals who we
have to house and put it old folks home because

(01:20:45):
they're only here for to serve us. So there's nothing
good one. Well, we do have dominion over animals, why
do we do? We do have to. That's why they don't.
That's why they don't have thumbs and they can't like check.
I have a proposal, though, vegan for a month if
jay z and will pay for that personal chef for
me to you know, shop and right stuff for me

(01:21:06):
for a year, that's true, that real talk. If I
had somebody, because there are some good vegan cooking out there, yeah,
and if I had somebody to cook it for me,
I had a part of the problem with being vegan
is the struggle to find places to eat exactly. No,
I like, if you out on the road, it's like
I'm fun thirty miles from the nearest vegan restaurant. But

(01:21:26):
I had one of those vegan hamburgers that calls junior
taste like mud, the impossible burgers good. Then it just didn't.
It didn't. It didn't have the texture that I needed
want me to believe it was a burger. I was like,
it's just a mud patty with cheese on top. Rob.
I will say that that Caluate earlier was a vegan.
It wasn't. Yeah, well that's alrighty it taste good. And

(01:21:48):
what they're doing because I had a filet mignon today,
was that three of them? Three? It was outstanding actually,
and I didn't think. Yeah, I just got back from
Ruce Chris had I had the uh Cowboy ribby Alex Alex,
it was delivered. I had lobster, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes,

(01:22:13):
fire broasted corn. Did you have hot rolls? Didn't? I
stood away from the bread, wow bread and I just
ate an eighteen now steak, but I stayed away from
her bread and cheese, mac and cheese, but no bread.
I feel good and no dessert. I was tempted to

(01:22:34):
know what that dessert more for us? But I'm good, Look,
I feel good. I'm fifty and fine. At least that's
what my wife says. She has to She's been stuck
with you for twenty five She is stuck. She's stuck

The news of the day, it's not football. The news
of the day is basketball. We've been talking about it
throughout the show. It's the blockbuster trade between the new
York Knicks and the Dallas Mavericks. Mainly, the main players

(01:24:05):
involved in the trade were Chris Stops Porzingis, who was
shipped from New York to Dallas, and Dennis Smith Jr.
Shipped from Dallas to New York. There's some other guys,
DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews are going to the Knicks along
with two future first round picks. Those could be valuable
for the Knicks, but then Dallas is also getting Trey

(01:24:29):
Burke and Timothy had Bardaway. Tim Hardaway Junior, I think
he's actually a valuable part of this trade. He's a
good score and with all the attention that Porzingis and
Dontecks will be getting, I think he could have a
nice little h career there in Dallas. So yeah, that's

(01:24:52):
essentially the trade. Courtney Lee, also a good defender and
a three point shooter, goes to Dallas. So I think
it was a good deal for both teams. I'm not
trying to be you know. Yeah, we call it like
we see it. Absolutely, I think it's good. I think
Dallas now with Don Chic and Porzingis, that's the foundation

(01:25:12):
of I believe a future contender if they stay healthy.
And then the Knicks. The main thing is you get
the cap room to go after free agents. And I'm look,
if I'm the Knicks, they have heard. I've talked to
people in that organization. They have heard, like we all
have that Kyrie's interested, that Kevin Durant's interested. We don't

(01:25:33):
know for sure what they're gonna do. I think we
have to let the playoffs play out and see what happens, right,
But I think they've got a pretty good shot at
getting those two players. And if that happens, oh my,
and you gotta be willing. I'm you gotta be in
the hunt. Being in the hunt means is that you
have cap room to make it happen. If they only

(01:25:54):
had cap room for one player, that's all they had
the right so that that's not as attractive because anybody
who comes knows they need another player. And with porzingis
not being there, right, you already know, so now you
can reshape it get two star players. You have Dennis
Smith Junior, who people love, Wright Lebron protoj who's actually

(01:26:15):
pretty good, like he's enough, like people are looking at
and I just mentioned it's about cap space. But I
don't want to short, give short, shrit he's pretty good player.
So when you look at that, it opens up stuff.
And if you're a Nick fan and you're complaining or whatever,
I just don't understand it. You're having one Jack since

(01:26:35):
nineteen seventy three and you weren't going anywhere with what
you have now. So here's a chance to finally And
remember you notice Chris Frisdale is a guy that a
lot of players around the league likes very much. He
might finally be that guy who could attract those guys
to say, come play with me. What do they have?

(01:26:56):
They have an all black front office team, resident, general manager,
and coach. And I know the owner was the always
the thing that nobody wanted to go to the Knicks
games though because of James Dolan. But now you have
a brain trust that you might say, hey, come with us,
we're changing this thing, trusting us. Scott Perry, the GM,

(01:27:17):
A lot of people know him. He helped Joe Dumars
build that remember that team that went to sixth straight
Eastern Conference championship. Yeah, and we haven't even mentioned the
fact that they might get the first, second or third
pick in the try. If I'm the Knicks, I don't
want to win. You're at this point, you're already fifty
games into the year. Tank all the way, let it

(01:27:40):
go and if you are, somehow, some way get Zion
Williams said, my god, now you really got something. Now, Larrob,
let me ask you this, if you're Kevin Durant, and look,
we can easily. I would have no problem if Kevin
Durant just stays in Golden State the rest of his
career or at least one more year. We talked about
the rings or whatever. Yeah, but he you know the

(01:28:02):
talk that's out there, and it's still out there. The
latest to allude to it was Walt Clyde Fraser that
it's an asterisk by his name. Even though he's an
all type of grade. He went to a team that
was stacked and ready to win. And let's keep it real.
And I like Kevin Durant and I've I've never killed
him for going to Golden Stated, but I will say this, Rob,

(01:28:25):
I could have went to Golden State that year instead
of Kevin Durant and won a championship. I think that
I wouldn't have played a minute, but I could have
got a ring. That's how good and ready they were,
and he knows deep down he could say he don't
care about what other people are talking about. Chris. You know,
he would get killed if you know, Like no, I
get that he has to in New York. They would

(01:28:47):
appreciate him just bringing him to but he would not
get it. Would and said Rob. People would look at
him like, see, he's great, You're not taking out away
from him. But he could never lead a team on that.
They would say that. I guess there would be some people,
you know, I mean because we saw him Okhoma City. Ultimately,
it is about a championship, so I'm not gonna pool it.

(01:29:08):
So but if you're Kevin Durant, does this make you
more prone to you know, maybe go there? Yeah. I
just think that he has a lot more to win
than staying with the Warriors. Like I'm saying that, I
still think he should maybe do you know this year
if he wins it, look if him and Kyrie want
to go there, that's good. All right. More Eye Couple

It's the eye couple. We've got great news for you.
There's a quick thing, easy way you can say, hey,
switched to Geico. It only takes fifteen minutes to see
if you can say fifteen percent or more in your
car and shorts. Go to Geico dot com and see
how much you can save. And we've got the great
Hall of Fame linebacker for the Chicago Bears, Brian or

(01:30:13):
Lacker with US and Tennessee Wesleyan University. He's on behalf
of Tennessee Wesleyan University and Special Olympics athlete Breathe Brugodski. Yes,
it's great to have you guys here. Brian tell us
about you guys as a tandem and how you're working together.
So we're here on behalf of United who is partnering
with Special Olympics and we're trying to kind of raise

(01:30:33):
awareness of people to let them know the steps that
United is taking to make it a more enjoyable experience
to travel. They're they're doing their employees are taking classes,
are trying to educate them on how to make it
a m for people with the intellectual disabilities, to make
it easier for them to travel, and let them know
what's out there for them if they do take United
just to you know, traveling stressful, man. I know this
for me going through the airport. So he's trying to

(01:30:54):
make it easier if you do have an issue, maybe
a mental disability, physical disability, to make it easier for
you to travel. That's actually great. As sports writers, we've
traveled on and it ain't easy. Frustrating TSA for me,
I always get super nervous going through TSA. So for
for Special Olympics, United Airlines to team up, you know,
you know, to make it a better flying experience with

(01:31:16):
those with disabilities is just great. That's great. Now now
you're in the Special Olympics, what do you compete in?
What I used to compete in rhythmic gymnastics, and then
I used to compete artistic gymnastics, but now I compete
in volleyball, softball, UM basketball, and now powerlifting. That's awesome. Wow.

(01:31:37):
She also runs college track, Yes, college track cross country events. Um,
I do more long distance. So I've done the eight hundred,
the mile, the fifteen hundred, the three thousand, the five
k and ten km. All right, so let's go right now,
me and you will race a roundni. Okay, let's do it.
Let's do it right, right? Kay? Right, okay, right, So

(01:31:59):
you're at Tennessee. Yes, what's your best time in a mile?
Five thirty six? That's that's tough. I have not ran
the mile since last year, about like last indoor track season,
so maybe it could be lower. I'm not sure. But
my best five and like two weekends, yeah, like two
weekends ago. Yeah, it was nineteen twenty three. So I'm

(01:32:20):
hoping to keep bringing it down. And we're gonna be
going a conference soon, so I'm really hoping I keep
bringing my times down. And what's your major? What are
you taking up? I am majoring in social work and
minoring in psychology. Great girl, So Brian, um, you've been
away from the game now for a while. What's it
like you do you how much do you miss football? Football?

(01:32:40):
I miss the stuff that comes with it. I missed
my teammates, camaraderie, man, I missed that immediately when I retired.
And then what I missed as being in the building,
like being at Househall with we had the same equipment guys,
we had the same trainer as my whole career. So
I missed all that, all those people that he's just
get accustomed to scene to you every day, and then
you retire and they're all gone. That was hard for me.
What about the bands had a good team this year,

(01:33:01):
great this year, and a lot of people I thought
they were going to be Philly and and I thought,
for um the kicker, um Cody Parkway, Yeah, yes I
did park park Yet you look like kind of yeah.
We all have our jobs to do. We all have
a job. You know, you expect your kicker to make

(01:33:22):
that kick out. There is a video of the block.
Yeah you know that. So I'm gonna give them the
benefit of the doubt. But it's a hard game, you know.
My take on that is if the defense doesn't let
him score on the drive before and never gets putting
that situation, and most of the guys in that defense
or that team will tell you the same thing as well.
They should have never been that situation. Games should have
been over. We're up, you know, we're up five points
and we're on defense. We should win. What do you

(01:33:43):
think about the way like the rules now even since
you've gone, you know, they've really swung toward the offense,
made it tougher on the defensive play. What's your take
on that? It's hard to play defense? Man, That's what's
amazing about what the Bears have done because last year,
just because it's hard to give the seventeen points a game.
This year and the rules are so skewed for the offense,
and I understand fans want to see offense, they want

(01:34:03):
to see point score, but but you don't want to
You don't want to manipulate the game for the for
the rings and chie I mean, come on, man, there's
got to be something. Um, there's just so many rules
to benefit the offense. Whenever you're gonna have some rules
to start going to defenses favor, and then when you
get to the quarterback, you gotta be careful how you
bring them out because if you land on top of them,

(01:34:24):
it's a penalty. But if I spin to the side
and bring them down, I'm okay. So how about when
the Casey game last week, when the or two weeks ago,
when the guy hit Brady on they call pass that
understand how the Risks can get away with that? And
then okay? And then in the we all know list
play that the the Saints game, you don't call it
all all you preach his players, hate the players, that

(01:34:46):
we gotta protect our players. We get we got hit
like that, there's nothing hits some helmet, the helmet doesn't
get flat and it's pastor fans and then they find him.
So I know, like it was just and you know,
the bate goes on about that play. We obvious he
obviously missed a call. But it's just frustrating to see
that I should miss that call when when you played
and before you even intimidation, I know is a big

(01:35:07):
factor for the defense. Yeah, like but you do you
think that's gone now? Like there, you can't be an
intimidating defense if well, you know, if you hit someone,
they can still come across the middle. You can smack him.
You just can't get fined penalized unless the actor don't
call it. But yeah. I mean it's the factor of
them know when they're gonna get hit. It's probably a
little bit out the window because they're not worried about
getting hit because they know it's not legal. Now, yesterday

(01:35:30):
day Roger Goodell came, I had his finally talked about
this press conference in the state of the league or whatever.
The only thing I was disappointed in when he talked
about kind of gave the officials and now, you know,
humans make mistakes. But in football, everybody's accountable. The GM's accountable,
but the coach is accountable, all the players are accountable.

(01:35:51):
How come the officials aren't accountable. I'm not trying to
get people fired, but if you do your job in
my right. So if you don't, so say they pay you.
You sign a contract for five years and you get
one hundred million dollars whatever, and that first year you don't,
You don't produce where they're gonna do. Right, So as
a player, as a player, I mean, you're gonna hold
people do the same standards. I agree with you, but

(01:36:11):
I mean I am I don't like all the reviews
because I think that the games are just kind of
drug out butt and that instant you gotta review that play.
You got to review it. Man. There's no reason why
they can't review that play and just get it right.
I think because in that situation, it costs the Saints
a trip to a super Bowl because they take they
run the ball twice, kick the fill goal games over see.
I love that too, get it right. But I don't

(01:36:32):
want a game where every time somebody scores a big
touchdown you're looking for a hold, you know what I mean? Yeah,
I can't get to that game right. Yeah, But then
that's the that's Devil's advocate right there, because then you
can review every play to see who was holding, and
you wouldn't hold on every player, right, every know they
hold on every player every single play. It's the ey Cup.
We're joined by Brian Urlacker and special Olympian Bree Boo Goodski. Bran,

(01:36:56):
we always hear players and the media we all to
about getting the ring. Getting the ring get you. Obviously
we're in the Super Bowl. You guys lost to the coast.
Does that does that sit with you that you didn't
get a Super Bowl champ? Yeah, it's frustrating, you know,
it's hard to get this is this is what's amazing,
and people who don't like them, including myself, we're just jealous.

(01:37:16):
That's all there is to it. We're just jealous because
of what they do. You know, and I've said this
all day long. I mean, if you don't like them,
beat them. I got that. That's just frustrating to see
how successful they've been. But yeah, I mean we get
to the game and you know, you always think you're
gonna win. You asually get back to that game and
it's not easy. That's what another amazing thing about that
I'm getting a Mini nine now doesn't help you a
little bit that you at least got to play in

(01:37:38):
a big game like that. I mean, I know you
want to ring, me want to win. So here's what
kind of pisses me off. And it's part of my
words are um um, So I have buddies who have
Super Bowl rings who didn't been playing the game, even
didn't even take a snap in the game. I'm like,
good for you man, you know, and they wear that ring, dude,

(01:37:59):
So yes, and no, being a Hall of Famer, I'm
sure it is a nice consolation, right, It's a good consolation. Yeah,
I mean I'll take that ring all day. But it's
a pretty good consolation price to have. Again, so we
got about thirty seconds left. I know you're a basketball fans,
give me some. Are you a Lebron guy? Like, who's
your fann to be? He means to go with? Come on?

(01:38:20):
Especially going to the final six times you're six and ols.
That's it. That's why I say Joe Montana is to go.
He went to four times. He's four and old. But
I think Brady Brady went right, Bryan, is it about
going or is it about winning in a row? But
they do, and he's won five. It's not like he

(01:38:41):
lost nine. You never hear that Jim Kelly's the greatest
quarterback with four years in a row. You never hit
up Marve believe he's the greatest coach with four years
of the row. Valid points, right, don't credit his shoking.
You know what I'm saying. It's about one, four and old.
I would take playing in nine Super Bowls. It's so
safe's overwinning four because you're gonna win. Okay, So if

(01:39:04):
I'm five and three going to my ninth Super loses,
he's five and four is basically five. I still got
five rings, right, My season still went on, not longer
than anybody else this season. Nine times, that's true. So
that's pretty good. I played eighteen years. At nine of
those I went to a Super Bowl. I'm sorry, he's
played nineteen now, that's amazing. That's pretty good. Sign me up. Yeah, well, Brian,

(01:39:25):
great job, man, We appreciate good great, thank you, great job.
All right. One of the best young pass rushers in football,
Brocco star brad Lee Chub joins us. Next. But first,
let's bring in deb Carson for what is trendy. All right,
we'll start with the NBA. Lakers. Star Lebron James will
return from his groin injury tonight. He'll play against the
Clippers at Stables Center. Kyle Kuzman and Josh hard are

(01:39:48):
also expected to play for the Lakers. Mavericks have acquired
star Kristaps Porzingis from the Knicks and a multiplayer deal
that sends for Zingis, Tim Hardaway, Junior, Courtney Lee, and
Trey Burke to Dallas. New York acquires Dennis Smith Junior,
two future first round picks, and the expiring contracts of
DeAndre Jordan and Wesley Matthews. The NBA announced the reserves

a word from farmers. From a dog accidentally flooding a

Had a really great year, young guy. Second year in
the league. I'm sorry, first year in the league. Brad
Lee chub twelve sacks as a rookie. That's pretty strong man.
Welcome to the Eye a couple. How you doing. I'm
doing good. Appreciate you'll having me. So this is the
super Bowl in your hometown? Basically, why are you from Georgia?
She enjoyed everything so far. Yeah, I'm enjoyed everything. I've

(01:42:22):
been bringing my mom and my family up to the
NFL experience all that, so they could say enjoy it
with me. So it's been fun having to all the
light brought to your city and stuff like that. So
it's cool. Are you going to the game now? I'm
not going to the game? Are you one of those
that would have trouble being there when your team is
exactly exactly after the city? What I'm saying after not
even making the playoffs, I can't even I don't even

(01:42:43):
want to see the super Bowl. I mean, I'm gonna
watching this stuff like that because the opponents is in it,
but I couldn't be there now right right? I hear you?
Well tell us about you know the adjustment. I mean,
like I said, you were a rookie, you came in
twelve sacks. I mean not only Vin Miller had more
on your team that that was a great season. What's
the adjustment like? Because we heard it right, we heard

(01:43:04):
people talking about Alabama before they lost could beat some
NFL to watch. Yeah, yeah for sure, But what is
the adjustment like for those that don't know going from
college to the NFL? I feel like college, in college,
like it's honestly, who's the best athlete go in? You
know what I mean? NFL it's like more mental whoever

(01:43:25):
the smartest player the better athlete, because everybody's a good athlete,
So it's breaking broken down to more of a fundamental level,
more of a mental level. So uh, in college, you
could get away with doing different things like sometimes I
would just just run up the field, I'll beat the tackle,
you know what I'm saying. But everybody's good. At NFL,
you can't do that. So I feel like that's the
biggest adjustment. Is there much of a difference physically, Like
just dudes are much stronger, there's a definitely much stronger.

(01:43:48):
Dude is definitely much stronger. Uh. And and the thing
is like everybody was either drafted or you know what
I'm saying, And yeah, yeah, exactly, So everybody was a
start in college, so I mean, it's just the talent
levels is a huge step. But what about working for
a guy like John Elway? How much did you really
know of how legendary John Elway was as a player,

(01:44:11):
and then when you get to meet him and then
he's you know, the GM and the boss, what is
that like? Did you know about him? Yeah? For sure,
for sure did y'all? Yeah, I definitely learned a lot
more after I've been I'm saying, part of the organization
and stuff like that, Like I didn't realize they went
back to back Super Bowls and stuff like that. So uh,
it's cool because he's a legend, you know what I'm saying.
No matter what part of the country you grew up in,
you know, everybody, everybody knows his name John Elway. So uh,

(01:44:35):
and then being having an opportunity to work for him,
now it's a great dude. Every time I seems is
always loved. So it's real fun. All he has to
do is get the quarterback situation worked out. No guy,
he already learned. If he's a smart guy, you learned
the business of football right away when you're head coaches.

(01:44:55):
So what was that like, were you close to him,
did you feel like it shouldn't have happen. I've been
you know what I mean, It's part of the business. Yeah,
it's just part of the business. I mean, it's no
matter how close you get with a coach or whatever.
I mean, at the end of the day, if the team,
if the GM, if the president of all of them
see that he's not the right fit, that ain't gonna
move on. So, I mean everybody was talking about it
and stuff like that during the season, but we tried

(01:45:17):
to just put that behind us. And I mean, now
that he's he's he's gone, it's move on to the
next guy to get right with coach Fangio and uh
and learn from there. What do you think you guys?
I mean, look, your defense is strong, has always been
a part. We saw them win a Super Bowl. Basically
would have broken down paid Manning because it's all defense,
so we know. But to be a complete tist, it's

(01:45:38):
just the Agio's a defensive coach. So I'm like, I thought,
y'all should have hire I'm not he might be great,
but I'm looking at the offensive inside is what needs
a lot of help. So what what do you think
you guys need to do to get to that playoff level.
Just just everybody just being on the same page, you know.
I feel like there's a lot of times offensive and

(01:45:59):
defense where everybody just on the same page and that
costs either a big play or um that's how we
lost the game. So I mean just having everybody clicking,
and I feel like we got we got the talented offense.
We just gotta put it all together and let the show.
So I feel like when we do that be amazing.
I know, you gotta be tired of seeing the New
England Patriots in the Super Bowl right for something, and
you guys, you know what I mean, like, wow, can

(01:46:20):
you believe it? Like like the way that they look
this year, a lot of people thought, Okay, this is
probably the end or the beginning of the end. So
you shocked at that. I don't think I could count
out Tom Brady in any season. You're gonna have to
beat them for me to count them out. So I
don't really did y'all play him this year? Now we didn't.
You didn't, um, so you haven't faced him. So next year,

(01:46:41):
make sure you you know, get at them. You know
what I'm saying it'd be good to sack a forty
two year old make him feel every minute of it exactly.
Do you feel like We've talked to defensive players in
the past and I and we feel the same way
just watching it, you feel like a lot of times
these rules are becoming built for the offense to succeed

(01:47:02):
and not for the defense. Yeah. But at the same time,
that's I mean, when you think about it, the fans
want to see points put up, fans want to see
elite quarterbacks, fans want to see what I'm saying. So yeah,
when you think about it in the terms of entertainment, yeah,
I entertainment, and how I feel like it's gonna help
us out too if we if the fans watch guy.
So when you when you like sack a guy or

(01:47:23):
and that you can't drive him into the ground and
you can't lay on top, do you are you conscious
of that? Like? Yeah, yeah, I never was the guy
to try to hurt somebody, So I never jumped on people.
If I tackle the guy and I fell on him,
I like what I'm saying, trying to come off as
uh as quickly as possible. So I mean I understand
that people want to see Tom Brady packed to Mahomes played.
So if we take those guys out, then I feel

(01:47:44):
like that's just gonna take a part of the game
out that the fans love. Okay, all right, that's a
good way to look at it. All right, you are
here plugging Panini trading cards. So have you seen your
trading card yet? Yeah? Yeah, for sure. I've been signing
them all all season long. And I remember you have
Rookie Premier and stuff out in LA and they had
printing out the cards for us right there and there.

(01:48:04):
So yeah, what's it like for you? We grew up
in the era when trading card huge. What's it like
for you to one see your your own when your
when you first saw your trading card, but also when
you see yourself on these video games and stuff? So
what what? Are you a big video game guy? Yeah?
I like to play Man in a lot. But it's
crazy because growing up playing matter, you playing with other guys,

(01:48:24):
are you creating yourself trying to be on it? And
now you're actually in the game, Now you actually got
your own trading card and all that. So it's it's crazy.
How how just life just come full circle? I was
at this elementary school playing with some kids the other day,
and then only the first thing all of them said
to me, I played with you on mattering. It was
just stuff like that. It's just crazy and it surreal
because I remember when I was that kid doing all
that same stuff. Now on holidays though they get all

(01:48:45):
your supposedly all your mannerisms and everything. Do you think
they have you right? Yeah? I think they do. I'm
a little like kind of chunky on the game, but
that and I'm a little faster than that too. What
do you know television puts weight on Yeah, exactly, this
ten pound. But what about the you're just talking about
being a kid in all lot. Was it one player

(01:49:08):
that you met or you know, in your first year
where you were like wow, like I'm want to feel
with this guy or I'm you know what I mean.
Was there any player or you saw up close who
you were taking a back? Yeah, I mean it's a
lot of players, but honestly, the first one was wrong
because you know what I'm saying, as a young pack
somebody looked up to in college and high school and
stuff like that, and then my first practice in the NFL,

(01:49:29):
he's right on the other side, it's like, you know
what I'm saying, it's surreal. So, uh V is definitely
the first one big Bend. Another one was a big dude. Yeah,
a big dude. I mean, just I can't even name
all the people the players. I just looked across. I
was like, Man, I'm actually playing against this dude. Who's
the toughest running back in your opinion that you you've
played against them all or bost of them? You know,
who'd you who would you find is the toughest to

(01:49:51):
bring down to corral whatever. I ain't gonna lie my
cousin Nigga is kind of hard to bring it down. Yeah, yeah, Nick,
for sure. I can't even James Connor was a stuff
you got Zeke and Girly or viewed this girly top backs. Um,
I like Zeke, but I like them both. But I

(01:50:13):
think Zeke just pure running the ball. He looks like
he might be the toughest to play. Yeah, we didn't
play against them this year, but I think we played
against him either the next year of the year after that.
So I mean that's definitely watching him on film saying
he does the defense and all that. So it's definitely. Ah,
it's definitely a hard conversation when we talk about who's
the hardest bat to bring down? But when you talk
about say, Quam Barkley, is it too that he's a

(01:50:35):
double threat. He catches the ball, you know what I mean? Yeah, unbelievable.
He broke a record rookie record with catches and behind
y'all all purpose Sharks, right, y'allum, So he's a tough guy.
Can you tell us? So tell us about the Pannini
trading cards? Oh yeah, so, uh, I mean, just been
working with him since, uh, since the whole rookie year
and just having my card in stores and all over

(01:50:58):
the place and kids come electing them, me signing them
and stuff like that. It's just it's just fun to
be a part of. And it's a business. I'm glad
I got a chance to connect with my first year
and I know, I know this just for year cousins.
Chubb Chub Chub Chub. I love that. Did they ever
do that for you? Yeah? Yeah. When I first got drafted,
like at the training camp and stuff like that came,

(01:51:19):
I came out and all you hear, Chub to the
head made shirts with like Chubb all over it, and
so it's it's it's fun. That's great, all right man,
great job, a great year, got a great career. Head
how many sacks next year? What's your twenty four? Twelve four?
Right the record. I don't want to put a number
one because then I'll be out there for trying to
force and trying to chase the number. Yeah, just going

(01:51:40):
out there and play because I didn't even put a
number on this year and it happened to be twelve.
Surprised at your success. I ain't gonna lie to you
a little bit, A little bit. I didn't know what
to expect, but twelve definitely wasn't a big number. Great job,
Thank you, appreciate it. Ye. Our next guest has a
bone to pick with Roger Goodell. Find out why. Next

Great to have our next guest on. He is a

(01:52:43):
columnist for the New York Daily News cover sports, race,
social issues, car and Phillips. Great to have you here, Man.
Welcome to the Eye Couple. Thanks Man, thanks you all
having me on. You wrote a really a strong column
in the Daily News this week after Roger Goodell, you
know yead his state of little as he always tells it,
the Super Bowl. Tell us about you know, you challenged him,

(01:53:06):
you kind of went off on him. Tell us about
you know what you wrote and why you wrote it. Well,
just shouldn't there if you think about everything that's happened
in the NFL the last couple of years. Well, we
talked about Biles gets women. Um, you can break that
down deeper into domestic violence, the CTE situations, all the injuries,
player arrest things of this matter, even the way they

(01:53:27):
held handle the flake Gate bounty gate, and now with
the Kaepernick hole kneeling situation, and then speaking of Super
Bowl by itself, the halftime show like this has been
a huge debaco to where they waited into what the
NFC division around game to announce who was headlining when
we all kind of knew because we just felt like
the league was foundering trying to get black artists. You

(01:53:51):
had jay Z turning them down, Rihanna, Cardi B who
probably is going to bring out megos Um. You have
all these black artists there are number one on the
music charts right now, a lot from Atlanta. You can't
get them right. Um, So all the artists are telling,
you know, over the Kaefernick situation, some of the artists,
some of the artists something and it just felt And
then even when you know, when the news came out

(01:54:11):
that that Travis Scott was probably going to perform that,
you had jay Z come out and say, hey, I'm
I'm gonna try to talk him out of this. Like
it's just been one black eye in a pr nightmare
for the NFL, one after another. Then you have this
press conference yesterday and we have all these questions about
so many things that have happened, not just social issues
but with the Saints Rams game, right, and he didn't

(01:54:32):
he didn't really respond. Christ and I talked about it
last night, and you know the lame excuse up, Well,
people are human and they make mistakes that ain't good enough. No,
it's a it's it's a true reasoning. But he should
have went further, as you said, right, And I was like, dude,
help hold these referees accountable the way everybody else in
the game is held accountable, GMS, coaches, players. You don't

(01:54:56):
do the job, you won't be a referee in the NFL.
I'm gonna sit on the playoff games. They're gonna miss
preseason Like what tell us get fired or they get fired.
But even then, if you think about Saints fans, and
I know, like since we're in Atlanta, all the Falcons
fans are happy that the Saints aren't here, but they
just they're still recovering from bounty gate, Like so they
got hit over the head again. So this is what

(01:55:17):
two and the lass? What five? Six? Seven years. Two
huge blows too, like really good Saints teams that maybe
had a shot. So if you're a Saints fan, like
you got to understand their frustration, and even from the
media from Louisiana to kept asking questions like they're asking
questions so that their readers and their followers and their
fans can can get the answers. So you got the

(01:55:37):
man issue with him is he did not go far
enough in discussing that whole situation from NAT to the
Kaepernick situation. What he said about Kaepernick. What I saw
the quote he said that I thought was ridiculous is
that teams would signed Kaepernick if they thought he'd helped
him win when eighty six quarterbacks at least have been
signed and we've seen those guys bumped. Some guys are

(01:55:59):
like Nathan Peterman, Peter Manley the worst quarterback in NFL,
Like he statistically like the worst quarterbacks at time, Like
there was a stat that at one point during the
season that said Aaron Rodgers had to throw like almost
twelve hundred consecutive interceptions in order to get to get
Peterman's touchdown the interception ratio that's like, And then they

(01:56:22):
also had you know they got guys off of practice
squads from the Arena Football League. I mean they went
through all depths to keep that guy from it. They
were getting cats who like was waiting tables at Applebee's.
And it's a joe that that is a joke. It's
the couple. We are joined by Carl Phillips and Uh
in sports, race, social issues columnists for the New York

(01:56:45):
Daily News. Rob and I have talked about this as
much as the league is at fault and these individual
teams are at fault for not signing Colin Kaepernick. Uh.
The players could deal with this quick fast in the
Union if the if the black players, and there would
probably even be some white players who joined them, if
all the black players or most of them were doing it.

(01:57:07):
We're not playing next week. I don't mean Super Bowl.
I mean at some point during the season. We're not
playing this week. We see all these guys getting signed
who can't hold Colin Kaepernick's jockstrap. We are not playing
until he is on a squad the game, when they
wouldn't even have to miss a game. That report they
came on a couple of weeks. I forgot who did it,

(01:57:29):
where they surveyed. I think it was like twenty eight
defensive players in the league, and like almost ninety percent
of them said that he deserves a shot in the league.
We don't even need surveys like this. Everybody on those
football oh we like to see numbers. It represented. But
the players Union being so a week and control, you

(01:57:51):
wouldn't even have to miss a game. As soon as
you said it. In a few days, they would have
it fixed. He'd be on the team because they would
know that whenever you go out the money and hurt
somebody's pocketbook, things change. But you gotta be willing. It's
just like when the union thing comes up in what
twenty twenty, we'll see, are they gonna be willing to
look at the players themselves and how they're split. Like

(01:58:13):
I was at the Players Coalition press conference yesterday where
they announced and all the six groups they were giving
money too. That's dope, that's cool, you're giving money, you're
helping them, But they still have this fundamental, huge divide
between the Players Coalition and Eric Red and Kyla Kaepernick.
And you know when those two left, that should have
let you know that there's no real unity that you
have these guys over here, there's like, let's take the

(01:58:34):
money and get back. But you have the two dudes
who've sacrifice the most and been hurt the most, and
how are we going to take this league's money. Who's
done all this and we're trying to stand up for
these communities of color when these two players of color
are getting done this way by the league. So it's
like in two, y'all take care cap and read. I

(01:58:55):
understand what you're doing for the community. But he's still
dealing with me. Yeah right, I know, right, No, No,
that that's a that's a fair argument, and that's one
of those that you have to rustle with because that's
always and this is where the thing of the term
of being a sellout comes from. It's like where you're
always taking money to be quiet. Well, hold on, But
there's never been a black organization other than perhaps Marcus

(01:59:18):
Garvey's that hasn't been funded by white people. I'm not
saying the real I'm not saying. We're not saying hold on.
If Malcolm Jenkins and the Players Coalition are taking one
hundred million dollars and using it to change laws as
they're trying to do, and all the things that give
to the community. The issue is the laws and with
our social justice. The issue is that they didn't take

(01:59:39):
the money. Is that the things that they gave up
to do to take the money. Feeling most players weren't
kneeling the end up, it's about what they at three
dudes doing kneeling. No, but but those are the guys
who are kind of stepped away. It's it's this, why
can't we take the money and get back to communities,
but also keep raising our fists to show that this

(02:00:00):
whatever we're kneeling about, this conversation has to keep going
on because when you take the money to pull your
fist down to get up off your knee, you're saying
that everything's fixed. You're saying that this money that because
they're split the seals and that's how it lials. Ain't facts.
It could feel a certain way. But if you like
the player's coalition is trying to get things done, they

(02:00:21):
are like one agenda getting stuff done has to be
to get that man back in the league. That has
to be number one. That shouldn't it should never be
from this. I think number one is fighting the police brutality.
That's what's no. But that's what he was. How you're
gonna fightnutality when you're letting the league brutalize number seven,
you're telling them that they can fight for that sign.

(02:00:44):
Basically they could get all the players, just the players
Coalition can't do that. I'm with you. You know. They
didn't say we're not trying to get Kaepernick in the league.
They just said they not put the fist up. But
that's why this union they don't get taken care of.
But this is the union of the players costs. It
just shows if you look at the history of the league,
from every work stopping, everything, everything, the players always have

(02:01:08):
the power because they're the players, but they back down
every time because of money from the scab and like
we I did. I did a column on this every
six single work stoppers this league has ever had. The
players have had everything that they wanted in their grass
and have fumbled it literally because they was like, nah,
I gotta eats this season. They had the power every

(02:01:33):
part of the time. They have the power to season.
Are you like a thirty for thirty about how bad
that season was? That should have let them know right there,
we have the power. The players power is during the
season if you want to stop playing, because you ultimately
talking about rich players versus wealthy owners. These owners don't
make their money from football. They don't. They got money.

(02:01:54):
They gonna be fine financially at the end of the day.
A player that might get three years in the NFL,
he asked, at some point, think about eating, and the
best time to do it is during the season at
They don't make their money off football, but their egos
are fuel egos and money or two different ego though
they couldn't feel teams and their egos with v brus

(02:02:16):
I listened. Man. I was at the owners being sitting
in the front row in the spring when they came
out with that flaw anthrom policy that we saw only
lasted a couple of weeks. You put these cats in
the corner, day will break, all right, We gotta go. Unfortunately,
wish we could continue this conversation. We want to thank
