FS one, I am at Chris Underscore Bruce Sar two
of the great follows in sports, So definitely follow us
(01:11):
if you already aren't. We got some great guests coming up.
We've got Antonio Daniels, the always outspoken former NBA champion
Fox Sports NBA analyst. He'll be joining us at the
bottom of this hour. Then in the second hour, we've
got Eric Pinks, the lead Lakers writer for Bleacher Report
(01:32):
who wrote a story basically saying quoting an executive in
the league as saying that the whole Anthony Davis trade
talk demolished the Lakers chemistry and hence their season, which
we do see. So we've got some great guests and
(01:52):
of course a lot to talk about with the Los
Angeles Lakers, a little bit of Bryce Harper, but Rob,
this is a Lebron day and a Laker's day, no doubt.
I think people all over the country are talking about
the Los Angeles Lakers and the fact that they have
fallen off of the map and they look horrible and
(02:17):
look like they are, as you have been saying, headed
for the draft lottery. I still give him a shot
to make the playoffs. So we'll get into all this
and talk about this. But the thing that you're right
about is my nephew hit me up this morning on
Instagram and he's the biggest Lebron fan going okay, and
(02:38):
his message to me was just one of defeat. Like
I like, he was distraught this morning because he couldn't
believe that they had lost to the Memphis grizz For
some people, and we're gonna get into these Lebron people,
but for some people this is like I remember when
I was I was in college. I remember everything about it.
When Mike Tyson lost the Buster, Douglas and me and
(03:02):
some of my you know friend got together. I was
literally like in shock the whole night. That night, my
fraternity we were throwing a big party after the fight,
and we did it. We had the partying on it.
But I was like not right. I was not right
the whole night. No, I was like shake it, like
just in a little bit of shock because to see
(03:24):
Tyson lose because he was undefeated at that point, was
knocking everybody out. And uh, I think some people who
really especially young kids who are really into Lebron, it
is like seeing this, Oh it's looking like the beginning
where people going it may be the end of the
(03:44):
Lebron James are. I know he's gonna play three more
years and then you know, he's not gonna be first
team All NBA this year, No Kempy, unless there's something
miraculous happens over the next twenty two games, he is
not going to be first team and be all in
no doubt about it. So so much to do, so
little time. Let's welcome into our couple of cool wouldn't
be able to do this fine radio program without them.
(04:05):
Of course, Rob G is our producer, Alex is our engineer,
deb cars and our sports anchor. She'll keep us updated
throughout the program area is UH in turn on the
other side of the glass, and of course Elijah our
social media guru. So we are in full effect on
this trash talking Tuesday. So let's get his cracking and
(04:29):
UH with mister Chris Bussard are up there in that
Knicks jersey, Nick's jacket. He got some guts, he does
you walk around in southern California. First of all, just
the Knicks jacket in general. I mean, the Knicks are horrible.
And I thought I've been for agents and I thought
he was maybe like born there, that's why from La
from Burt where you from ancor right around right around
(04:51):
the corner or something. But he looks like he can
handle himself. He got the beard. He's husky like Rob G.
You know, he looked like he don't even look like
he can handle himself. I doubt anybody with step so there.
Maybe that's why. But I give him some credit for
at least wearing it. And he's happy. He's thinking, oh,
this is our summer or maybe about to be nice,
(05:13):
or maybe he's just wearing it because it was on
sale at Marshall's. That's true too. But he is a
Knicks man. He said he's a Knicks No, I know.
I don't know why, but he isn't. But I forgot
he told us. I'll tell you this, Chris. I'm you know,
I've been saying it weren't going to make the playoffs,
and I've been talking it's very strong, and don't get
don't get all like like you just know everything about
(05:34):
the couple when it talks about the NBA, because don't
make me bring up time break, make me bring up
the page, and you get on your high horse. This
is a smoke screen because Chris Bouchard is the NBA
to Fish Fisher Noado. He's mister NBA. He knows all
about the NBA. I'm just a novice, even though I've
(05:55):
been covering the league since nineteen eighty seven. Yeah, I
wasn't on serious. I wasn't on the ESPN doing shoot
Around or whatever that show was called. What was it countdown,
countdown or whatever? I got your countdown, it's the countdown
to the end. Of the Lakers season. I've been calling
for it for years, but finally this is a year
(06:15):
where I'm gonna be right. That was about time Brady
that was thinking about the Lakers and Lebron. Brady couldn't
do that, So I'm Brady can't help the Lakers. You
know why, Chris Bussard. Their season ended officially last night. Yes,
the Lakers season is officially over. Wake the kids, call
(06:36):
the neighbors. It's over. You keep waiting, No, Chris Boussard.
You know what Chris said two weeks ago on Undisputed
every Day. His argument was they'll be fine. They'll be fine.
That was his argument, They'll be fin Lebron's track record.
I'm sorry, Lebron James is a broken down, thirty four
(06:58):
year old Jelapi who can't play defense. We saw it
last night. It was pathetic. Chris Bussard, I don't care
about he was the greatest player on the planet. Last
night was it was rock bottom. I could not have that.
He stood there and he had the nerve, uh who
was a kindly drove past him for an easy lay up.
(07:20):
I mean it was kindly and everybody else and he
looked he looked and threw his hands up, like, where's
the defense? Try to stop the basketball? Can you move
to your left a little bit? Can you move? And
then there was another big three that hurt them late
in the game where it was Lebron's man. He stood
the filion Kevin Durant, that's what they call as they
(07:42):
call him and Chris. He looked at the guy. He
didn't run towards he was nowhere near. He didn't he
didn't go. We were we were closer to that guy
right now then Lebron was lasting. Lebron would have been
closer if he was in Brazil, he would have been
closer to the Brazilian Kevin Durand look it's in the
Bruno kablicous name. That's the guys. Is that his name? Chris?
(08:06):
It's indefensible. Hold on, let me finish one more, all right.
I just I've been trying to tell you this, and
I know people wanted to go back. I told you
Lebron James came here right for Hollywood and all the
other stuff that goes with it, you know, the businesses
and whatnot. He didn't come here to win a championship.
(08:27):
He did not and he told you I have nothing
to prove. Do you remember that speech. I don't have
to prove anything to anybody. I don't want anybody. Jack,
I told you he wanted to be Meryl Streep and
a mogul. That's what Lebron James had in his future,
not to win a championship. He came here without the
pieces in place, without his number two guys. He's never
(08:48):
done that, Chris, And that's what threw up a red
flag to me because he had to wait to find
out what's gonna happen. And I understand he had the
young the young core. Don't now tell me, oh the core, dude,
this is what you signed up for up for. I knew,
and Lebron was very much in on the veterans that
they signed, the fact that they weren't shooters, the fact
(09:11):
they were man was that they were defenders that could switch.
They have some toughness about him. Lebron was in all
of that. So I told you he's the worst general
manager in the NBA. He did it in Cleveland. You
remember when they put together that ray one of the
title No, I'm talking about the last year, Chris, when
they brought in uh, Dwayne Wade. They got to the final. No, no,
(09:33):
not with Dwayne Wade, Dwayne Wade and Derek Rose and
all those older guys, and he was like, oh, well,
this isn't working. They don't want their roles and they were.
So then they went and traded with the Lakers and
got Nance and got Um. Who's the other guy from
the Lakers? Rodney Hood, George George Hill and Larry Nance Junior. Right,
(09:53):
they got the other guy all the tattoo, yeah, Jordan Clarkson. Right.
They brought those guys in. They didn't add up anything.
They lost in four games. They got swept. And my
only point is that you can't sign up for something
and then act like all of a sudden you you
you were you were bamboozled, or you got you got Delta,
(10:14):
a phony hand that you weren't expecting. This is what
you signed up for. You brought up an interesting point,
and you said it before. This wasn't the first time
You've always said it. Lebron came here to be Meryl Street.
What I would say is Lebron made a miscalculation, a
big one because I you know, I talked to people
close to Lebron and they felt just as Lebron said
(10:38):
a few weeks ago, Lebron's legacy is set if he
doesn't win it. Yeah, of course he wants to agree
with that. But if he doesn't win the title, you know,
he's Lebron Jay. He's done what he's done, like you can't.
But that's not to take nothing's going to take down
his legacy. That's what they felt. And so of course
(10:58):
he wants to come to LA and win a championship,
but if he doesn't, he's test line. That was the feeling,
and you're absolutely right. And I said it several times
on the herd last year before he came here. I said, look,
when all the talk was Lebron's coming to the Lakers,
I said, Lebron, just think about it. Though, you better
(11:19):
come here and win. This was one of the reasons
I said maybe he shouldn't and maybe he won't come
to LA was because if you come to the Lakers,
every other star on your level has won a championship
at least one. Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem abdul Jabbar,
Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neill. They all delivered at
(11:43):
least one championship. That's what the Lakers are. But they're
not gonna be happy getting to the second round. They're
not gonna be happy even getting to the finals and losing.
They won a title, and I agreed that it will not.
Lebron has is tremendous. He last night he obviously he
(12:03):
became the first player ever to be in the top
five scoring all time top ten assists. No, that's I mean,
you can't do that. That's a legitimate number. That's an
incredible achievement. So I do agree. I do agree. He
shouldn't have tweeted that out or Instagram, but it's a
tremendous achievement and it was done in winning They didn't
(12:27):
win championships every year, but he did that on winning team,
So nobody can take that away from me. So I agree.
His legacy is his legacy. However, especially in this day
and age, you are what you've done lately? What have
you done for me lately? Janet Jackson saying that I'm
pointing out DJ Tisher, He don't know nothing about that.
He could throw that up there. What have you done
(12:48):
for me? You know? But there you go. But anyway,
Lebron a lot of people are gonna remember this, especially
Lakers fans who already don't like the fact that these
ranked they had. Don't you remember what all those guys
who are marking up the Murals right yes, before the
season even started, So you could imagine you already have
(13:10):
that group of people out there. And here's the other post.
Could be an ugly four years for Lebron. Why if
he doesn't and I don't think he's gonna win a
championship here and here. He needs to get them close
just to make him. The last reason Chris that I
do believe that the season has ended last night at
Memphis is that teams aren't afraid of the Lebron or
(13:32):
the Lakers. Like there's nothing like sitting Toronto shaking in
their boots, you know what I mean, Like there's blood
in the water, and these teams are like, we can
beat them a Lebron or no Lebron. And I think
that's the part that I see that uh Noah last
night where this dude has been on life support. I mean,
where did he come from last night? Right? He's not
(13:53):
gonna do that against anybody else. It's the Lakers, I'm
telling you, and it's there. It was their super Bowl there,
champion the idea that you could bury Lebron. Bury ways
had it in for remember back to when he was
in Chicago. But you can now all these players are like, yes, yes,
we can bury Lebron. He thought they were gonna They
(14:15):
thought when Lebron went to LA they were gonna like,
add Lebron, poor water, stir and win a championship. That's
all they thought. Just add Lebron to that young core
and and and get another player, and they're gonna be
They're gonna be ready to take over the Golden State. Well,
nobody was saying that. Some people, well nobody, yes, the
Lebron people. I don't know if anybody on earth was saying,
(14:37):
you said fifty three wins and when they were the
fourth seed. No, it's not that not here that I
can't let it hear that. No, I can't. No, that
was three months high. Horse, mister Rob Harry, I want
saying the fact I'm a horse just because you you
want tom you want to overcome and say you want
(15:00):
over comp I was right on this rodeo. You want
to copy say it because you took such a lackey.
We're not talking the stop it? How you want to
over Comben Sating? Beat your chest like I know all,
I know, all who don't know all who? Damn it,
it's not over there trying to games left and I
(15:21):
think Lebron James has enough pride that they might make something.
Though this might mean I can't make defend because the
dude don't Differenda might make something happen. Let's better pair
Jordans or mister Mike. Now you pulled out the bet.
We'll get to that next. Look, we're gonna do this.
Shut you. You pulled out, Yeah, but you can't have
(15:42):
a game. Get it out. No, it's it's over. You
had your change. Why won't you better than now? Because
they look like garbage? All right, that's why you wouldn't
bet you but you had your change? You say out?
Did you say they look like garbage? On Lebron? They
look like at the team. I just want to whole unit. Defensively,
(16:02):
he looks bad, no, no doubt about that. All right?
You're turned away In eight seven seven ninety nine or
Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six sixty three sixty
nine have let Brian and the Lakers officially hit rock bottom.
We're looking over. It's over. We will continue the conversation

Chris Brussar, Rob Parker, and we are talking about Lebrin
James and the Lakers on the verge of missing the playoffs.
Lebron hasn't been out of the postseason since two thousand
(17:52):
and five, his second year. Let's hear what you have
to say eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine sixty three sixty nine. Let's start with
Trucker Don in Boston. Welcome to The Eye Couple, Chris
and Rob. Thanks for taking my call. Love the show.
You know I used to call in they give Rob
(18:16):
uh Rob Parker a hard time, but I'm gonna have
to actually agree with him tonight. Wow. Think I'll take
a shower when I'm done, but I'm gonna agree I
need to call shower. So what what I think that
Lebron is really uh carrying down the Lakers instead of
building them up. And it actually started back when he
(18:38):
got away with trading all his teammates in Cleveland. Because
now he just tried to do the same thing and
Indian Indiana fans uh exemplified it and really put the
thumb in their eye when they u everybody came to
the free throw line and started yelling at Lebron about
that was that was? That was a moment. Was unbelievable. Yeah,
(19:05):
I've never seen anything like that. You've seen some crazy, wild,
incredible stuff, and that was a perfect chance. It was.
It was a perfect chant for the team to the
fans to give against the visiting team, no doubt about it.
Age seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, What about Andrew
in the Bay Area? You're on the odd couple Fox?
(19:27):
What's happening? Did Saint Rob again? This is your whole
boy from Jamaica Queens who, by the way, used to
live next door to Brian Burwell and Saint Louis Mans.
We both know Brian real Well, New Brian real Well.
By the way, you brothers are keeping it real man.
You're redefining authentic and real man. I'm real proud of
(19:48):
you guys. Anyway, getting into Lebron, that brothers, the Lakers'
chances of meeting the playoffs are making. The playoffs are
retreating faster than his hairline. That's cold, Kawhi laughed to
let me hear that again. Kaw go ahead, Andrew, go ahead,
(20:13):
Kawhi laughed too. No, it's just you know he's he's
an older guy. You know, his body language when people
are making mistakes, it is not good. He doesn't know
how to uplift people. And uh, I think he's kind
of exposing himself that somebody who's not a true leader. Well, look,
it's looking bad. And like I said, he may have
(20:35):
miscalculated how big of a hit he's going to take
in these not just this year, in these four years,
if he doesn't get the Lakers at least close to
a championship and right now, I mean they're not even
gonna make the playoffs. I agree, Chris, it could be
a torturous for you, it really if they don't get
(20:56):
Anthony Davis, right, if that doesn't work out and they
it's gonna be ugly, right, especially the way things are going.
Let's go to laval in North Carolina. Lavell, you're on
with Chris and Rob. Hey, what's going on the night?
He Rob? There might be somebody else who's also laughing
their chair law who's bar ball? Yep? Yeah, because they
(21:21):
miss Linzo. They miss Linzo. No, but let's be real
from a basketball standpoint, He's right, Lonzo is also a
key factor in this peak, well defensively, in particular defensively, yes,
because he sets him He is the one who sets
the tone defensively. We can't look at Lebron that sets
the tone defensively. He's not built for that. No more.
(21:43):
It's Lonzo. Not to mention the ball movement. I'm not saying, well,
let's let's let's let's let's I mean, I look, I
get you. Linzo's a very good defender. He's versatile, he
can switch everything. He's got great instincts. But let's not
go overboard. Lin's always not the savior. Okay, Now, I
mean he's a forty one percent foul shoot. I'm with you,
(22:05):
can't hit jump shots like. He's not aggressive half the time.
I mean, I get what you're saying. This has boosted
his stock a little bit, and he's a good, really
good defensive player. But let's not act like if he
lost Kevin Gardner or if he comes back tomorrow that
they he was there for most of that six and eleven,
(22:27):
six and twelve, Yes, and twelve, because after Lebron came back,
he sat out of the game. All right, is the
Laker season officially over Fox Sports. NBA analysts Antonio Daniels
has the answer next, but first let's get the deb
Carson for the latest in sports dev gentlemen. Not so
great news in Dallas today, at least in Arlington, the
(22:47):
NFL is once again suspended Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory
indefinitely for violating the Substance Abuse Policy. In terms of
his conditional reinstatement, now, he missed all but two games
in twenty sixteen and all of twenty seventeen because of
multiple violations of the policy and in his first two
seasons with Dallas, and another suspension is pending. According to
(23:09):
Adam Schefter, Cowboys defensive tackle David Irving is under evaluation
from the NFL for a potential suspension. And other NFL news,
the Bengals are shopping receiver John Ross forty nine ers
a franchise tag kicker or Robbie Gold and Sweet Coin
for Nolan Eronado, the third baseman, and the Rockies are
closing in on an eight year extension valued at about
two hundred and sixty million bucks. Wow, yes, nice, nice
(23:34):
work for him and his age's yeah exactly, But also,
and I'm not trying to knock him, but he does
play in Colorado with a ball flaw. I'll give you that,
but he's a he is absolutely no, he deserves it. Again,
he plays in a smaller market, so I'm sure it's
(23:55):
harder for them to justify that money. But on the
on the open market, he's worth it totally. Zion Williamson
in a street close again tonight as third ranked Duke
is at twentieth ranked Virginia Tech. Right now, the Hokeys
are up twenty three nineteen over the Blue Devils with
about six forty six to go in the first half,
seven and a half to go first half twenty first
ranked Buffalo trailing the Akron Zips. Zips are up twenty
(24:17):
three twenty one. And we do have, of course hockey
action as well. San Jose Sharks getting said to take
on the Boston Bruins and Tuesday's Discover Card key matchup.
You can become a new card member and Discover will
match all the cash back you've earned dollar for dollar
at the end of your first year. Learn more at

(24:39):
from a Major League Baseball and MRII revealed Mets Todd
Frazier has an oblique strain. He's going to be out
an undetermined amount of time. We'll be back with the
Odd Couple in ten seconds. But first a word from
farmers at Farmers Insurance. We know a roof can withstand
a lot. One exception being an airborne car. I've seen it,
covered it. Talk to farmers. We are farmers underwritten my

Rob Parker, Chris brus Haard back to you guys, good,
thank you Dad. It is the Eye Couple Company live
from the Geico Fox Sports radio studios. It's easy to
say fifteen percent or more in your car insurance with Geico.
Go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred nine
four seven Auto. The only hard part is figuring out
(25:24):
which way is easier. We always love having our next
guest in one NBA Champion and Fox Sports NBA analysts
none other than Antonio Daniels. And as a he's a
native Ohio in two so I know it pains him
to see Lebron James from Akron going through what he's
(25:45):
going through up there and now or do you take
pleasure in this as a as a former Spur, do
you take pleasure in this? Antonio? It's a lot. You know,
it's a lot of people around in the league. Now.
I know you're not a player anymore, but there are
a lot of guys in the league taking pleasure in this. Right.
That's because when you're on top for so long, people
(26:07):
love this. They can't wait till you fall. That's just life.
I definitely, I definitely don't take take pride and seeing
what I'm seeing now and honestly as a former player
and now analysts for ro TV and radio, like it's
it's up like it's kind of vincive, you know what
I mean, Like the way everything is being done in
LA from the beginning, from the beginning, like it's just
(26:29):
I don't know, it's it's a really really bad situation
down there now. A lot of this though, Is it
on Lebron? Yes? Yeah, okay, on that, Antonio. You know
this is what you gotta seeing the movie remember the Titans, Yes, yes, okay,
it's a line in that movie where Julius says to
(26:52):
the other guy, attitude reflects leadership, captain, right, remember that,
And this is what this is about and what Lebron.
If I'm in that locked room with Lebron and we've
had this conversation before, I don't be hypocritical. You know,
when you're talking about leadership, Leadership is not about what
you say. Leadership is about what you do. Leadership is
(27:15):
also about showing some sense of blame and compassions. It's
not always on everybody else. It's not always on Luke Walton.
It's not always on the organization. It's not always on
your teammates as a leader. As a leader, you have
to carry some similart inform of responsibility to everything that's
going on in LA. Because I tell you what, if
the situation was reversed and LA was in first, Lebron
(27:39):
would be being praised like crazy, no doubt, no doubt
about it. Hey, let me when you talk about this
in leadership, the part that you know when he throws
his hands up in frustration sometime, you know, after a
guy gets an easy bucket, he's not playing any defense, right,
And Tony, did you saw the plays last night? He
just mat adored people straight to the basket, right. And
(28:02):
the thing is, you know what, there are certain guys
throughout this league that deserve a path because they exude
and have so much responsibility on both ends of the floor.
So if there's the player too that Lebron took off,
I'm not tripping on that player too. If there's not
a player in this league that plays with that amount
of pressure and responsibility that's gonna go one every single play,
(28:24):
I get it. I get it. But when it's becoming
a constant, and if not just last night, you can
go back to the game before and the game before
and the game before. You're saying one thing, And this
started back when everything was going on in the locker
room where you tell guys to stay on social media
and then you're on social media, or you tell you
tell guys, well, you know what, Listen, I don't know
(28:47):
if everybody's mind is on basketball, and then you're out
making movies and shows and doing records and all this
other kind of stuff. So you know what I mean,
there's a there's a form of hypocrisy that's coming out
of that locker room. If you're there and you're looking
at him, it's I am not taking away from Lebron
James great name, but I'll tell you what my mother
has always told me since I was a child to
(29:08):
who much is giving, much is required, and when you're required,
that means you're going to get criticized along the way. Look, obviously, Lebron,
he just had a big accomplishment last night, first player,
every top five points, top five assists. So his legacy
is going to be great no matter what. Sure, But
(29:29):
how much of a dent if they don't make the
playoffs this year? And I gotta be honest, Antonio, I
don't think Lebron's gonna win a championship again. Now, you know,
I'll give him a chance. I'll leave a little percentage
that if they get Anthony Davis, maybe they can win it.
But I if I had to bet, I would say
he's not gonna win a championship because he's not gonna
(29:50):
get better. He's just gonna keep getting older a little bit,
right there. How much of a hint to his legacy
is it if he comes to LA, doesn't deliver a champion,
maybe doesn't even get to the finals. Man, I don't.
That's a toughie. That's because this legacy is what it is.
I mean now, it's to the point that he can
do nothing but add to it. So he may suffer
(30:13):
in the present right overall, at the end of the day,
it's gonna be fine. Yeah, his legacy is what it is.
And you know what kind of made me think different
about his legacy as well, It is when he said
when a couple of years ago, maybe you're even last year,
when he came out and said, you know what, I'm
chasing the ghost, which means, you know what, I'm trying
to get as many championships as I possibly can to
(30:33):
catch Michael Jordan's. And then this year a couple of
weeks ago where he comes out and he says, you
know what, I have nothing left to prove. You know,
that's butt the quick change his part and the reality
check that shows where the Lakers where he feels right
now that the Lakers really are. And I'll tell you what, Rob,
I tell you what, Prince, if they don't acquire somebody
(30:53):
via free agency, this summer next year is going to
be another long year, no doubt. Bottom. It's the eye couple.
We're joined my NBA champion Antonio Daniels. Hey, Antonio. The
other thing that I noticed, and uh, maybe you've seen
the same thing, is I don't think other teams are
afraid of Lebron and the Lakers. When I see Memphis
(31:16):
what they did last night, and I saw the Pelicans
without Anthony Davis on the back end of a back
to back, and you start seeing these teams go like, hey,
there's blood, you could beat them with or without Lebron James.
Some of that, you know, uh, some of that change
where they don't look at the Lakers the same way
(31:37):
or Lebron the same way. But I don't with all
due respect and that this is not a shot at
the Lakers by any stretch of the imagine aation. But
I don't know if they felt that way. It teams
that felt that way all year. Anyway, you realize who
Lebron is right and what Lebron is capable of, But
as far as that rocker and the way it's constructed
from top to bottom, I don't think that the team
(32:00):
has ever really in skilled fear in anybody in the
Western complace. Yeah, I guess. I guess The thing that
I'm looking at is teams that would benefit by losing,
do you know what I mean? Like Memphis and New Orleans,
they're winning like like they could lose those games because
it would be benefitial to beat Lebron. I know, but
but but we all know. Man, players don't tank players,
(32:22):
don't you know. An organization can put you in a
position to be unsuccessful. The organization can thank the front
office can. Players will never lay down the tank. Guys
don't get to this level without being competitive. So if
you go out on that floor and a lot of
these teams that you're talking about, these are guys that
are auditioning for other jobs. It's not about beating the Lakers.
(32:44):
It's about supporting my family and moving on. I'm not
concerned with LA and what they have going on. I'm
concerned with showing twenty nine other teams that I'm an
NBA player and I can be a viable player in
this league for a legitimate amount of time. Guys are
going to compete Lebron because he does so much on
the court. He's plays you know, point guard, power forward,
small for it. He can be tough to fit stars around.
(33:08):
You called New Orleans Pelicans games during the season. How
how good of a combination do you think Lebron and
Anthony Davis would be? Um, you know what's weird is
Anthony Davis would be the first guy. I think of
that type of game that Lebron's playbook, Right, I agree,
(33:32):
because you know Chris vosh was the third option, right,
Kevin Love with the third option, we're having a different conversation.
And if the second options get there's around Lebron, Right,
it's the right option that kind of gets marginalized, right, Right.
And then that's what when we talk about and we
talked about this last time, when Chris Voshon and Kevin
Love and you talk about those victories, I think those
(33:54):
two guys were the most important of those victory. Not
the best, not the most talented, but those guys have
the shackle like the most. Right. And if you have
Anthony Davis and you're Lebron and you're somewhat declining, you
know your health is not what it once was. This
could be that time where you see Lebron kind of
take a back seat and say, you know what, man,
I'm gonna play off you. I'm gonna allow you to
(34:15):
do your thing. I'm still gonna be Lebron James. I'm
still gonna be at the highest basketball IQ of anybody
on the planet. I'm still gonna be bigger, stronger, faster,
and more athletic than anybody else on the floor. But
I'm going to allow you the opportunity to be you
because I understand as the year goes on, my body
cannot continue to take this pounding and me be at
my best come March and April. I think that's a
(34:37):
great point I was saying to Rob earlier, as Lebron
ages he may need to just kind of transfer to
a full time point guard or maybe power forward. It's something,
but you know what I mean, where he's not doing
as much as he's doing right now. Yeah, and if
he's a point guard and ad is your first option
as far as a scorer, then that could work pretty well.
(34:58):
If they end up together. It definitely could work well
there together. But that's a you know, once you find
out what guys in this league, guys that can recreate
themselves have really, really, really long careers. Right vis Carter
has not been Sanity anymore, but I'll tell you what,
he did such a great job at recreating himself that
now he's an down shooter, a great locker room guy,
(35:20):
and a guy you can rely on for fifty to
twenty good minutes tonight after playing twenty one years, right
creating yourself as a skill. All right, Antonio grow as
Osway's man. We always appreciate the wisdom, for sure, appreciate
the fellows Later. One of the biggest stars in sports
has a big problem with analytics. We'll tell you about
(35:40):
it next. It's the Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio.

it's the I Couple of Christmassard and Rob Parker. The
sounds of DJ Alex ty Shirt. Is this original? You?
This one is not. This is actually a new artist
I'm a fan of, so like this. This sounds dope.
I like to give pubbed art the artists or play
stuff I'm working on for you bad that this is
just radio Because I'm dancing up in here. I'm getting grooving, bro,
(36:23):
I'm grooving and people can't see he's dancing a little
too close to me. I'm gonna call HR. It's like, hey,
it's like you're working. Put a dollar bills. I feel
like I'm at Magic give me so all right, here
we see you had to ruin it with that. That
was I like Nellie, But come on, time of that song.
(36:43):
I hear that song at least in a three second
segment every day because of you. Rock can't help it.
If you would have gone with me the Magic City,
we wouldn't be playing, all right. When it comes to
sally or trading in your car, you need to make
good choices. And with True Car, you got a star
on your roster. So when you're ready to sell or
(37:05):
trade in your car, check out True Car. True Cash
offer not available in all areas. Let's switch briefly, Rob
to baseball, a topic you always love to talk about.
Games have started, you know, to spring training games. I mean,
here we go, we're about a month away a little bit.
Christ twenty eighth is the start of the regular season.
What's today to twenty six? I mean, we're like about
(37:27):
a month away. And Bryce Harper's not in camp, doesn't
have a deal, and it seemed like the Phillies have
been trying, but he won't bite what they're conflicting reports
that have come out now about him. A few days
ago after he met with the Phillies, there were all
these reports about how he hit it off literally like
that was the quote, hit it off with the Phillies
(37:48):
manager Gabe Kapler. Now today, three hours ago, Randy Miller,
who's a Yankees beat writer for NJA dot com, he
writes this for what it's worth. My source who is
close to Bryce Harper tells me the Dodgers and the
Cubs were his first choices all along. I believe that,
and he prefers not to sign with the Phillies. I've
(38:11):
been hearing all winter that Harper does not want to
play for Gabe Kapler due to analytics and quirky personality.
And Kapler is a heavy do you remember analytics guy
and he got into it with players last year if
you remember, because Kapler was another guy who was who
had never managed before. You know this whole new trend,
all numbers baby, bringing these guys in who are gonna
(38:33):
listen to the front office and take whatever I told
you in Houston when they won this World Series. Their
manager never even made out a lineup the entire year
Chris Yep. Well, and it's a copy. All the leagues
are copycat, so teams have gone that way. Kapler one
of his first games, maybe it was his first, Remember
(38:54):
he took out I can't remember who the picture was,
took him out after like he was mowing the opponent down,
and Cobler took him out after sixty something pitches because
the analytics say that the hitters have more success against
the picture the third time to see him even in
the game, right, even, No, he's mowing everybody down, absolutely,
(39:15):
And the problem. Look, I'm all for analytics as a
part of your front office, your baseball, your basketball, your
football operations, but it cannot be the entire thing. You
can't run a team based entirely on analytics because it
doesn't measure your heart. It doesn't measure team chemistry. Was
(39:36):
Aaron Nola he had in that game? Right, Okay, there
you go. They just signed to a new contract. He's
just start for them. But it doesn't measure like who's
clutching who's not. Like we saw the Dodgers last year
taking out all their left handed hitters in the World
Series at Fenway Park. They benched those guys. If the
four best home run hitters didn't play, that is un
(40:00):
I should say, that's not even good for the game.
It doesn't any sense. It's not good. We want to
see the best players, the stars, whether they strike out
or shine or whatever. What are I say about everybody's
following the Oakland a'ses uh Trump? Yeah? Yeah? Pattern out
of analytics, right out of analytics. I mean World Series
they got with analysts zero and they were a great
(40:23):
franchise before that, right and they were and they were
twenty eighth and attendance so people, they won ninety seven games,
and they couldn't draw people because people don't like they
don't have stars, and they don't play the type of
baseball that people are are into. That rats, look, I
hope I don't know about you, Rob. I hope Bryce
Harper comes to the Dodgers because I think it's what
(40:44):
he wants to know. I agree it would be he
can get it. I get it. He may not get
his ten years, but if you get five to seven
and the annual number is huge. And I also think,
I know last yesterday we talked about, you said he
can't for the sake of the other players. Now with
child Oh yeah, now I think he could go less
(41:04):
and he's just one guy. All right, It's the Eye Couple.

You deserved this, though, Manok, you had a rough January
and February. Hey, they're happy for you. They booed me
(41:46):
at Man got booed, you got booed, you got trashed.
I I ripped you. I mean you. You took a
lot of shots, man. So I'm still sucking to be
maybe be right. Maybe maybe still a lot of season left. Man, Yeah,
but you but for you to look right, I'm glad
(42:07):
you just look right, even if this is your only
day you get, even if two weeks from now, you
are looking foolish. And all these top takes you got
about the Lakers, We're gonna play them back as the
microwave take. Then you're gonna look back. I'm glad you
get this this short period, or it'll be like once again.
Rob Parker is a soothsayer? Is that what they say? Yeah,
(42:30):
that's what the Patriots saying, right, isn't that what the
Patriots said? The bottom line is the Patriots cared enough
to even put me on their Twitter, and that's good
for you. Maybe Lebron will do that, you know, Lebron, Lebron,
come on the show. Let me talk to him, sit
right across from us. We could have a nice interview. Yes,
we can think they'd be great. I wouldn't. I wouldn't
(42:53):
cross your fingers. But call your guys, you know, all
those Lebron people. Call them. Let's say, Lebron, you need
some help, and we could. We could give you that platform.
Juice stuff strong run right, So after you lose to
the Pelicans tomorrow night, you know, like, maybe you should
come on the radio. Well, let me say this, Rob
about Lebron for the last ten years or so, maybe
(43:14):
even a little more. Basically, for the last ten years,
everyone essentially has referred to Lebron James as one thing.
I'm glad you said essentially not everybody, but but most people.
I will give you that the best player in the world.
Most people have referred to media, fans, opponents, you know,
(43:37):
most have referred to him as the best player in
the world. And now that is really in doubt. And
you think it's not even in doubt, right I don't.
I don't think right now the way he's playing, But
don't even say right now, no, I'm talking about not
(43:59):
the best, always having a bad three weeks. So he's
not the best player in the world, absolutely not. And
I think most people right now looking at him say no.
And I know you say, well, other guys don't play defense.
What about James? N yamn, that's your best player in
the world. And what he was there? He defense when
(44:19):
he went on that. The difference is when he didn't
play defense, they went twenty one and nine. Lebron just
doesn't play defense, and they lost to the Pelicans, and
they just lost to the Memphis Grizzlies, and they all
show they also be golden stopping. What was he locking
folks down before Christmas. Was he locking folks down before? Chris,
I'm talking about right here, right now. Don't tell me
(44:41):
you thought that they want you right here right now
that week you thought they were gonna lose to Memphis.
I thought Memphis was the playing good basketball. But Chris, no, look,
I'm gonna say this, Rob, He's not the best player
in the world. You think James Harden is the best
player in the world. I take Jim car Now the defense,
the defensive reason. If you're gonna say it's James Harden,
(45:05):
if jaff about Yannis, how about Kevin Durray of James
Harden was on the Lakers right now? Is coach not
on thinks they would have won those two games that
they just maybe with Mike D'Antoni is called James Harden
would have won those games. James Harden is fabulous, but
he is also in an offense that it's Taylor made
for numbers. Taylor made for numbers, but they were winning games.
(45:27):
Who had a coach like D'Antoni, he'd be putting up
huge numbers two and he could be hitting on defense.
They're hiding James Harden on They don't Lebron's not winning
that's the problem I have. But when he was winning,
you still wouldn't give him props. I didn't say that
back then. I'm talking about right here, right now. He's
not the best player on the planet. Here's here's my take.
(45:49):
I tend to say, you become the best player, the
mythical best player in the world in the playoffs, because
the postseason, first of all, is isn't a season unto itself.
I mean, it's two and a half months long. It's
a season unto itself. Players who never played in a
great player who never played the play If you can't,
if you can't you, if you can't get your team
(46:10):
to the playoffs, you're not the best player. I can't
say playoffs, I said. I mean, I'm not talking about
you don't have to get to the finals. Michael Jordan
was the best player in the world before he got
to the finals. But he delivered. That's what I wanted.
He gave cats assisted in the playoffs. He lost, but
he gave him sixty three. He gave him forty nine.
(46:32):
He'd have the opponent, Larry Bird at that time, arguably
the best player in the world, saying I think he's God.
This guise is Michael Jordans. So if you go out
like that, then yeah, you could be the best player
in the world. And so what I'm saying is this
is a bad few weeks for Lebron James. He does
not look like the best player in the world. There's
(46:53):
no if, sans or buts about it. But I before
I make that statement, I'm gonna wait a little while.
I want to see a larger sample size. I want
to see does this injury have anything to do it
he's still smarten because of that, or it's not in shape.
Maybe how did he get out of shape while he
was out, or like you, look, he might just be old.
(47:17):
I mean, look, I'm not gonna carry the wall. He
might be old, but I want to see a larger
sample size. If he can't get this team to the playoffs,
the six and twelve stretch without him is no excuse because,
as you said, you've lost to Memphis, you've lost to
New Orleans without a d You've lost to Indiana, You've
lost to Atlanta with Lebron. Y know, if if if
(47:41):
Lebron came back and they were hammering teams and he
was bawling and they didn't make the playoffs because they
that'd be different, that would be totally different. But he's back,
not wing looking back. But that's that's why I got
an issue with. All I'm gonna say is I'm just
gonna give it a little more samples. I I'm with you, y'all,
miss a deadI Kombo, I think right now is playing
(48:03):
like the best player in the world. Kevin Durant is
always right up there. Hardness great, but I would put
those two ahead of him. And you know, but I'm open. Look,
no player, I said this last year about Lebron, No
player in the history of the NBA before Lebron in
their fifteenth season, was ever considered the best player in
(48:25):
the world. No One, And that was an achievement. Now
he's in his sixteen season and guess what, he very
well may not be the best player in the world anymore.
He's not certainly not looking like it. And we've finally
seen cracks in his armor. Is that's a good word
to say, cracks in his armor where he's hurt. He
got hurt, which he normally doesn't do. And since he's
(48:47):
been back, whether the groin is good or not, Chris,
we don't know but he's out there playing. He's playing
many minutes, right, I mean he played the other night.
I'm getting to Lenny played forty three minutes. What do
you have last? Like four last? Yeah, I mean your
forty's not like you're playing and you're playing twenty eight
minutes because you know your groin is on fire and
you can't do it. You're right, you can't play forty minutes.
(49:09):
And he's shown burst right, dunking on people stuff like that.
He just what he's showing. I mean, you brought it up.
What he's showing looks like age. I'm gonna give him
a little bit, He's earned it. I'm gonna give him
a little more time, a little benefit of the doubt.
But it looks like age because one a part of
age's injury. You just can't stay on the you know,
(49:29):
the floor. You can have your moments like the Wayne
Wade every blue moon, every week or two weeks maybe
two three weeks, he has a turn back the clock game,
and you know he can't do it consistently. And Lebron
can make a good defensive play here there, but he
can't do it consistently. This even this is where I
thought that maybe Lebron the age thing was really factored
(49:50):
in because the other day he went to McDonald's to
order some breakfast and he asked for seeing your coffee discount.
You know what I mean, because let me let me
bring in. And we've talked about this Rob Our producer,
(50:10):
the beloved Rob Job Rob. I mean, he is walking
around here like Garth family's sick. I mean he really haven't.
We like, you can just see it on him as
clearly as you can see the shirt on his back,
because he's a because he's a big time sports fan,
(50:32):
Lakers fan. Yes, and he thought when Lebron came here,
he would be on the parade route on Supovata. I
don't know if that would be the route, but uh,
you know, on the parade route. And now he goes that,
Uh he's not going there, and that's not happening. But
you I'm just rare. Like you could see it in
(50:52):
his walk, you can see it in his body language,
you can see it in his demeanor, his countenance. He's hurts, Yes,
he's sad. He's not even laughing at my husky joke. Nothing.
He's not laughing at my five foot four jokes. He's down.
I feel for him. Man, you know what he said.
(51:13):
He's husky, he feels husky, his spirit is husky, right, Rob, Gee,
you're not husky. Don't don't accept that. Gee, get on
the mic, Man, get on the mic. I want. I mean,
I'm dead serious. Though you are a lifelong Lakers fan,
hardcore Lakers fan, how are you feeling? Because you I
think you speak for Lakers Nation, and I say that
(51:34):
in all series. This gives us a window into the mindset,
the heart of a Lakers fan. How you feeling, man?
Or Chris to quote you know my mom, I'm not mad.
I'm just disappointed right now with Lebron James. And the
reason being is because as a Laker fan, you grew up.
(51:55):
If you're in my age bracket, least with Kobe Bryant.
Now mock and the sad told you. I'm not gonna
say that Kobe's better than Lebron. I'm not gonna make
that argument whatever, But I will say that when we
had Kobe, you never felt like he let you down.
You never felt like he didn't give you everything he had.
You never felt like you bringing up old stuff of
that game again. You never you never felt I'm just saying, okay,
(52:21):
one at the time Phoenix game. Other than that one
time and maybe when he has to be traded to
the Lord. You know, other than those two times, you
never felt like the game, like it didn't matter to
him to play for the Lakers and give you everything.
Yet Lebron James in less than one season looks like
he doesn't care. You know, he's posting on Instagram after
(52:44):
they just lost again. Oh but you know there's there's
light in this darkness. Shout out to myself for getting
into the top ten and assists. You know, I put
this out on Twitter earlier. I'm sure you saw a
craz I know you follow me. You're following all my
tweets here. That season that Kobe tores Achilles remember with
my duty really good tweet. Kobe played three hundred and
(53:04):
nineteen out of a possible three hundred and thirty three
minutes in the last seven games to carry the Lakers
into the playoffs. By comparison, Lebron James spent a night
making music with two chains and drinking wine after midnight,
and then took the next day off against Golden State
for load management. No, I mean, and I would say
(53:28):
that the time stamp on that those shows that that's no.
I agree. I don't know for certain, of course, I
don't know any of us in here. No. My guests, though,
would be that Lebron had already been given that day off.
That's my guests. I might be wrong, but the optics.
Optics are bad, there's no question, because they need Lebron
against the words, right, and I feel you Rob that
(53:49):
that's a great stat Bring up the one where the
record was the same, right, Yes, at one point both
teams were twenty nine and thirty, and that year Kobe
put team on his back, basically played every minute of
every game for the last two weeks to get him
into the playoffs. Twenty nine and thirty. They finished forty
six wins. I think to me today missed it with smush. No,
(54:14):
that was the Steve Nash Dwight Howard. That's all right,
that's that's fair. And look, the good news for you,
Rob g might be Lebron has said he loves it
when he's uncomfortable and he's getting more heat. Rob, would
you agree with this? Both of you guys. I think
he's getting more heat right now and it's gonna continue
(54:37):
as if they continue to play like this, more heat
right now that he's gotten in an awful long term,
there's no doubt it. Even when they lost the Golden State,
it was blamed on the teammates, or it was wild
average a triple double, or he he got in the
six games without Kyrie and love like he was largely
praised in those losing situations. But in this one, now,
(55:00):
what's going on as people look at it and they
go because every night they go, all right, well, all right,
they lost to um Philadelphia, Okay, I get that right,
Philly's a good team. Whatever. Uh, They'll bounce back against
Atlanta like that, like okay, and then they lose. Then
they lost the game, didn't They beat Houston? Okay, second
half Lebron's activated, they get a good win against Houston,
(55:23):
come back from nineteen points. Now they could get a
winning streak together because now they play who they played
New Orleans without a D and they will want to
back to back the second end of a back to back.
They lose that game, then they go even Shannon's sharp
set on Monday, UH said, oh yeah, I'm gonna take off.
(55:45):
I won't co op if they lose the game, not
thinking you know what they want either, no, but not
thinking that you could say that because you thought they're
gonna win. He said to see, you might as well
end the season if they lose tonight, because they really thought, right,
everybody thought, oh no, that there's no way Memphis is
gonna win that game. And for Memphis to win that game,
it does. It just has an effect. And that's why
(56:07):
I think people are looking at Lebron going what no,
Bron's supposed to be the difference in some of these equations.
He should be the difference. If they don't get Anthony Davis,
then Lebron very well may have been much better just
staying in Cleveland even if you don't win the East,
(56:29):
because I don't think Cleveland would have won the East
this year, not I mean unless they made major changes.
I think Milwaukee, Toronto, Boston are better than Cleveland was
last year. But you could have if you would have
fallen off. And He's gonna fall off at some point, right,
I mean, it's just it's father time. Jordan fell off,
(56:49):
so it happens to the best of them. But if
he would have fallen off in Cleveland, he had delivered
that championship as a hometown kid. You know what I mean,
it would have been fun have been Oh yep, if
you come here and these just happen to be the
worst years of your your at that point what would
be maybe twenty years nineteen twenty year career and you
(57:12):
just can't deliver. And it's not your fault. You're just
older and you just don't have it. But you're gonna
get some heat because Lakers fans ain't playing that. You
saw some of them defacing this mural before the season
I started when they thought he was gonna lead them
to the playoffs. Right, how many people said they were
going to Weston Conference Finals? I mean I'd saying fifty
(57:33):
three wins. Shame on me? All right, is Lebron James
still the best player in the world. We will continue
the conversation with you eight seven, seven ninety nine on

your turn the way in it's the Eye Couple of
Chris Bruce ar Rob Parker. We're asking you, is Lebron
James still the best player in the world? Less right
off with Jacob in Las Vegas, Jacob Yarn with the
eye couple. What's up? What's up? Guys? I don't want
to be that guy, but but I'm gonna be that guy.
(01:00:11):
I remember at the same age, Mike was just coming
off winning seventy two, being the scoring leader and the
NBA Finals MVP on his way to a second World Championship,
NBA Finals, MVP on his way to a third and
of the next year. And so I don't want to
hear about age or Lebron Flackett if he wants to
be in the GHAT talk. Well, here's you're right that
(01:00:32):
both of them at thirty four years old. He's said
a couple of years old, right. First of all, Lebron
came in the league a lot younger, so he's got
a lot more mileage than Jordan had it thirty four.
And you're right not to mention the year off when
he went and played baseball, year and a half off,
and his second year in the league he sat out
all but seventeen games because he had the broken foot.
And so Lebron James at this point has played sixty
(01:00:56):
more playoff games than Jordan did his entire career, one
hundred and ten more regular season games. So you look
at the mileage Donald, with Lebron and these guys that
come straight out of high school, I don't think you
look at the actual age. You look at the mileage,
the wear and tear, the years in the league. You
agree with that, right, Yeah, I do. I think that
there's part of that that you can't deny. But but
(01:01:20):
but Michael was doing stuff at thirty four that which
he was still the best for the world. There was
no doubt about it. And uh, I think, wasn't he
all to all defense first teams? Right? And this is
at thirty four years old. He's not doing the Matador
to Lebron's doing no no question, which is not no good. Hey,
Mark and Sacramento, you're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
(01:01:41):
What's up, Mark? What's going on? Gentlemen? First of all,
I gotta I want to play something, guys about what
I heard this morning. You guys have a co worker
who was named Ryan with Trip Galis, who was who
was saying something in derogatory about the great Will in
this morning. I almost ye know that at my radio
(01:02:04):
listening to him claimed to the storage what Will did
and raised the same hardness. All I have to say
is the next time you guys talked to that dude,
say that NBA record book is known as the Wild
Chamling and Fire offers that he's out of his mind.
I just wanted to say that, but here you're right,
But I mean I've said it. Sorry. The NBA record
(01:02:27):
Book is the biography of Will Chamberlain. His numbers are
out of this world, there's no doubt. However, very fewer
teams in the league. Unwritten rule that you could only
have so many black players in the league. What four
or five per team? What if you took out two
thirds of the black players in the league and replaced
them with white American players. I think Shock and Lebron
(01:02:48):
and Hard all these guys would be putting up numbers
like Will and Oscar and Bill Russell and all those
guys did. I just think that's a fact. So I
think Skipp's problem, and a lot of people's issue with Will,
is that he didn't win in more right, and because
he was clearly the best player in the world. He
had the numbers and everything, but he didn't win enough
for people to say, not only did he dominate? He
(01:03:09):
mark on because I want to ask him one thing too,
or make a point to him one thing. Mark When
Will won his two championships, he only won two. His
first one, I believe it was his seventh year, he
averaged twenty four points a game, which to that point
in his career was by far his lowest of his career.
The second championship he won was fourteen points a game.
(01:03:29):
So when he played more team ball, got everybody else involved,
he won championships. And he could have been doing that
all along because he had every skill in the book,
but he wanted to put up the huge numbers. And
Bill Russell would even say stuff like that, Hey, Mark,
thanks for the phone call. Appreciate it all right. An
NBA executive says Lebron's open pursuit of Anthony Davis is
(01:03:50):
what killed the Lakers. Eric Pinkas has the inside scoop next,
but first let's get the deaf Carson for the latest
in sports. Yea hello, gentleman, well in Dallas, of course,
for the Cowboys on two counts, the NFL is once
again suspended Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory indefinitely for violating
the Substance Abuse Policy in the terms of his conditional reinstatement.
(01:04:11):
And also, according to Adam Schaeffer, Cowboys defensive tackle David
Irving is under evaluation from the NFL for a potential suspension.
Baseball News third baseman Nolan Erronado and the Rockies are
closing in on an eight year, two hundred and sixty
million dollar extension the deal will include a full no

the Cardinals are locking up starter Miles Michaelis to a

lot of folks were worried about his own financial situation.
He said, nope, I'm absolutely fine. Quote when it comes
to choosing between storing a championship ring in a trophy

The choice is pretty simple. Sell at all in a quote.
That's awesome, to be honest, especially if he's not getting
any of the money and he's donating. That's an absolutely
(01:05:38):
great thing. And guys, I went and looked at the site.
You can go to his website Kareem abdul Jabar dot
com and there is a link that'll take you to
the auction site. If you have any money at all
and er a basketball fan or a sports fan. There
is just historic stuff that's up for auction. I mean
his All Star rings, his championship rings, uniforms you know
with a short shorts from back in the day. Hey,
(01:05:59):
those are coming back. I know, look at college basketball exactly.
Almost looks obscene. I'm on the site now. I think
goggles are going for three thousand. Somebody was wondering if
he was if he was if he was going to
be selling his the costume he wore an airplane, you know,
the pilot costume. So I haven't looked that far, but
(01:06:20):
you can go take a look. Obviously, the money is

day to bring in our next guess. He's as plugged
(01:07:47):
into the Lakers as it gets. He's their lead Lakers
writer for Bleacher Report. It is Eric Pinkas Eric. Welcome
to the Odd Couple. How you doing, Hey, thanks for me,
It's great to have you on. Man and you had
a story recently this week which said that an executive
in the NBA essentially put what's going on with the
(01:08:09):
Lakers on Lebron. He said his open pursuit of Anthony
Davis killed this team's chemistry and that's why they've plummeted.
Tell me about you know, the feeling of people around
the league. Is that the general feeling? What's you're feeling
about it? And do you think that's really the case?
I mean, there's a lot a lot to unpack. Like
(01:08:30):
they were in fourth place before Lebron got hurt. They've
had a lot of injuries and Lonzo Ball is out.
So some of this is just bad luck, right, injuries happened,
but also winning kind of hides some of the you know,
the ugliness underneath, and and it's been exposed here. I
mean to a degree, this is on magic, this is
on Lebron. I think what happened. Then going after Anthony
(01:08:52):
Davis is a good thing, because Anthony Davis is really,
really good, and even offering those young players is a
good thing. The problem is is on Lebron's side is
that his agent is also one of his best friends.
They're like business partners. So by extension, Lebron is generally
viewed in a way like Anthony Davis's agent, like he's
(01:09:13):
part Anthony Davis's agent. And so he's on TV with
Ernie and Ernie Johnson and they're laughing during the NBA
Draft for the All Star Game and be saying, hey,
would you like to have Anthony Davis as your teammate?
And Lebron's chuckling about it, and yeah, it's funny and
it's true, but at the same time it's damaging because
(01:09:33):
the players you lose that trust. Everything is built on
trust when it comes to building a team. And then
on magic side magic, there were great reports from Brad
Turner of The Daily Times that really detailed everything going
on between the Pelicans and the Lakers. And I can't
speak to the veracity of it, but I rather Magic
should be speaking and saying no, none of that's true.
(01:09:55):
It doesn't matter if it's true. The NBA is like
a poker game. When you're an executive, you're most of life.
That's just how it works, right, And so the Magic
didn't say no, no, no, we're not offering Lonzo. We're
not offering anywhere. We're not. It doesn't matter what you're offering.
You count had a phone call that day, and so
between the two of them, there's a feeling like we're
not playing for Magic because he's trying to trade us,
(01:10:16):
and we're not playing for Lebron because he's trying to
trade us. And that just killed chemistry. Is it all
on Lebron? I don't think so. But he's tied up
in this and it's very complicated. Here's why I don't
think they're gonna make the playoffs. And I said this
a few weeks ago. I just didn't like where it
was going, and I don't like the team with or
without Lebron. But how shocking is it to you that
(01:10:37):
since Lebron came back that he's had put up these
numbers triple doubles and they're still losing. The bad teams
that don't want to win or do you know that
that's in their best interest? Do you find that to
be hard to believe? Well, I mean, the organizations, like
the Grizzlies organization probably doesn't want them to win games.
But try to tell that to the players, you know,
(01:10:58):
the coaches, and everyone's playing win And these are talent.
Mike Conleys are really he's one of the best scoring
point guards we've had the last however many ten years.
But that said, Lebron isn't playing defense. And if you
watch I mean, if you just watch game tape, it's
it's not you just can't really argue it, right, And
Rajon Rondo right now is not playing defense, and JaVale
(01:11:21):
McGee's not running back, and Lebron's just going on and
saying things like, you know, is basketball and quarantine, you know,
kind of insinuating that maybe the young guys or something.
But if you watch the young guys, their their hustling. Now,
young players are going to make mistakes. So if they
hustle and rush out on somebody like Josh Hart's gonna
hustle out, he's gonna follow three point shooter. It's not
(01:11:41):
because he's not trying. It's because he's young and he
doesn't know when what to do sometimes. Right, all that said,
it is surprising to watch the Lakers just dive bomb
against bad teams, because, look, they've got a busy schedule ahead, right.
They play teams like the Bucks twice, they play the Raptors,
they play the Celtics, the Warriors. I mean, they have
a really sybe schedule. But they also play the teams
(01:12:03):
that they're chasing. They played the Clippers a couple of times,
the Kings, they played the Jazz a couple of times.
They don't play the Spurs again, but the first play
these other teams, so that that vulnerabilities there all Lakers
have to do. You could lose five games to those
really good teams, win those five games against the teams
you're chasing, and then just take care of business against
the bad teams, and you're in the playoffs. Done. And
if you can't beat the Grizzlies on the road, I
(01:12:24):
don't know how you make the playoffs. It's the eye couple.
We're joined by Lakers writer for Bleacher Report, Eric Pinkas
Eric how surprise, stunned, whatever the word is. Are people
within the Lakers organization and maybe even in the locker
room that this whole thing with Lebron, the drama, the dysfunction,
(01:12:44):
the madness that has come with Lebron to the Lakers.
I'm sure they weren't expected. I mean, forget that, the
toxic environment. It's crazy, Like, how disappointed and surprise are
the people in organization at the way this thing is gone? Wow? Well,
(01:13:06):
I think really the Lakers have gone under a tremendous
change over the last number of years. Right, So the
organization was run by Jim bus with Mitch cup Check
on the basketball side, of course, Genie Busk on the
business side, and now Geenie's in charge of everything, and
she brought in Magic Johnson and Rob Polinka so very
quickly in their tenure. This Lebron thing happens. So I
(01:13:28):
think the front office, the people who are still there,
which you know is most of it. Obviously not Mitch
and someone with the top guys are are gone, but
a lot of the same people are there and they
were still just trying to figure out how this front
office was going to work. You know, Magic came in
and said he was going to be like a point
guard and he's gonna get a lot of really smart
people and he's just going to dish the rock and
(01:13:48):
you go do your thing. But I think the reality
is that Magic is he's someone who wants to do
a lot of it himself. And Rob Polinka is really
good at what he does. But neither of these guys
have tremendous experience in this environment. And it's it's it's
kind of like politics, like you can't you can't run
like a business because you have all these Congress does
(01:14:09):
its own thing, right, and the league, the other teams,
they may have a better move that Lakers could offer
something really nice, but they may go for a lesser
move just because they didn't want to help the Lakers.
And Rob Polinka has some enemies. Not agents generate that right,
Not because he was a good agent. Right, If you're
a good agent, you're gonna have some Eric Gordon was
(01:14:31):
a player that he had in New Orleans that he
tried to force out and they had some bridges burned
at that point. Magic, you know, no one in Boston
is going to want to do anything to help you
know magic, You know, magic great he's a great people
person and a lot of people like magic, but he's
also you know, the seventy sixers don't love magic because
magic destroyed the seventy Sixers, like at the Jump and
(01:14:52):
when he joined the Bank League. So I think they're
finding it to them. So when you talk about from
the perspective of do the Lakers expect a talks I
think I think that the Lakers are run by really
great people who have tremendous success in magic and rob However,
they're inexperience and they're learning on the fly. And at
the same time, I don't think lebron is talksic. I
(01:15:14):
think what Rich Paul was doing to try to force
Anthony Davis two Lakers still may work. So this may
just be a temporary problem. It's I just don't like
how it was delivered to them, and it wasn't denied,
and it was except that this is what we're doing.
We're going to trade everybody we need to trade to
get Anthony Davis. And what needs to be said is no,
we're not doing any of these things. It's not true.
(01:15:35):
Even if it is true, great stuff, Eric Man, we
appreciate that up the great work. Hi guys anytime peace.
If I'm the XFL, twenty million dollars for Colin Kaepernick
is an absolute bargain. I will explain. Next is the
Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob
Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern, four pm Pacific. At
(01:15:58):
Farmers Insurance, we know a roof can witstand a lot,
one exception being an airborne car. Seen it covered it doctor,
Farmers were underwritten my Farmers truck Fire Insurance exchanges that
affiliates products unavailable in every state. It's the I a
couple of Chris Brussar and Rob Parker. And let's switch
a little bit to the NFL, just for a moment.
(01:16:20):
Rob and Colin Kaepernick, we knew what last week, two
weeks ago, the Alliance of American Football offered him a
position in their league, and he said twenty million dollars.
And I'll tell you this, had he accepted a position,
that check would have bounce, right. It would have been bouncing.
It was all the way from LA to New York.
(01:16:41):
Am I right, no question. And now reports are out
that the x FL also was interested In Kaepernick and
they also got the same treatment twenty million dollars or nothing.
Some people are criticizing him. Some people are saying seed
it shows he doesn't want to play. I'm saying, good
for you, Colin Kaepernick. He knows his worth. He's not
(01:17:03):
about to be used. First of all, he should be
in the NFL after freaking XFL or the AAF. And
you know what Bordles makes as a quarterback who's not
not even close to Colin Kaepernick. I'm talking about career
one number right, he makes nineteen million. There you go.
And what would he do for the XFL? Put it
(01:17:23):
on the map? No question that people would tune in
Jersey sales, everything, ratings, I'm sorry. There would be our
sponsors like Nike and different people would say, hey, I
got some AD dollars I'll throw into the pot. And
there are people holding on the ad dollars and they
have to figure out where they're gonna spend their money.
And if they believe in what Colin Kaepernick has done,
(01:17:45):
there'll be more apt to spend their AD revenue with
the XFL. It's real simple. I'm with you, I'm totally
with you, and I don't want to hear like I
don't want to hear the shows. He doesn't really want
to play. Carmelo Anthony really wants to play basketball. Is
he going to the G League? No's he going to
China this year? No? He wants to play at the
highest level because he's a player of that ability. Are
(01:18:08):
you still surprised that nothing even when the buyouts came, Chris,
I'm not twenty two games left, I'm not surprised nobody
wants him. That's why I said Carmelo should retire. Not
because he's not good enough to be in the NBA,
but he doesn't fit anywhere. I'm not even talking about
just style of play. Carmelo still has the mentality of
a star, and he's going to want to get his
(01:18:31):
fifteen shots wherever he goes. He doesn't want to come
off the bench. You saw it with Alan Iverson. You
saw it first hand, right, And I thought, had Alan
Iverson would have been able to accept that role, Chris,
he would have played another five or six years. Come
off the bench, play eighteen minutes, have the green light
with the second unit, Hey just put up shots. No, No,
(01:18:52):
it has been like a Jamal Cri Yeah, easily. And
Melo could too. Melo could have gone out like a
Paul Pierce. And I'm not mad at Mellow because if
you don't want to go out, you know, if you
don't want but a lot of your role player, that's fine.
A lot of guys understand it, like you're not going
nobody Grant Hill bringing you in to be a star.
Grant Hill was able to after the injuries to say
(01:19:15):
I'm gonna go to the bench out and played a
lot longer. Had he resisted that and and lengthened his career,
yeah right, and had to swallow his problem when Grant
Hill came out. Don't forget he was the second overall
pick and Grant Hill was supposed to be the next
in thing, no question, no question. So are you surprised?
Do you think you still think? I think your feeling
(01:19:35):
was that Kaepernick will not get another chance of that.
I just don't see it. I really don't, because you
know just how the NFL is, and he doesn't have
to all, you know the backing of the players that
he would need. Do you know what I mean to
force the issue, because Christ, that's the only way you
get things done. You could have done in two seconds.
It's cold, it's gonna been over long second. Two seconds.
(01:19:58):
We saw the football player that missoo. Did you see
what they did with no money, with no ships. Yes, Chris,
they gave you a blueprint. They said, we won't take
this on campus. We're not practicing, we're not playing, and
heads rolled in two and a matter of a weed,
(01:20:19):
no question, just like that. You're absolutely right, and this
was that Missouri. And I look, I think there's a
lot of public sentiment and I understand it that this deal,
this settlement that the league made with Kaepernick was kind
of an admission of guilt, like collusion, don't right, but
(01:20:39):
it really I look at it kind of that way,
but it really isn't. I also think, Rob, there's a
feeling they didn't want other stuff. No, I understand the emails,
the text message. Who knows what would have come out,
so they are not necessarily they may be, but not
right right, because there might be other stuff that you
(01:21:00):
and he's even more damnit back, you know what I mean,
like maybe somebody using the N word or yeah, yeah,
I mean it could be all CODs of stuff that's
in people's texts and emails. And then you make that
stuff public on the recording court. Oh, you got a
lot worse problems on your hands. But so I've said that, Look,
if he's not back in the league, isn't aren't you
(01:21:21):
still colluding? Which I do feel you're still colluding if
he's not back in the league, But I guess they
can say they didn't admit colluding to begin with. So
I look, Caroline is a great place for him with
Cam's injuries and style of play, but it may not happen.

the time. During this show, we have taken a few
breaks and talk Bryce Harper talk Colin Kaepernick. But now
it's time to get back to the La Lakers and
(01:22:28):
the man who for the last ten eleven years has
been viewed as the best player in the world, of course,
has been in the playoffs and even in the finals
the last eight seasons, none other than Lebron James right
now on the verge of missing the playoffs. And what
is most shocking about it is that the Lakers with
Lebron in the lineup have been horrible. They've lost to Memphis,
(01:22:51):
They've lost to New Orleans without Anthony Davis, Indiana without
Victor Oladipo, Atlanta, and last night it was as bad
as it gets. They lost to a Memphis Grizzlies team
that is hardly even trying to win. That traded away
Mark Gassaw earlier in the season because it's over for them.
(01:23:13):
It's all about the draft lottery and getting a top pick.
So now this is looking bad for the Lakers, and
I am still going to hold out hope. I've predicted
that they would make the playoffs. They are now three
games back. They're actually not even in tenth anymore. They're
(01:23:34):
in eleventh place, behind Minnesota and Sacramento. But they're only
three games back of eighth place San Antonio, who's in
its own little bit of a free fall. They've lost
three straights. So I'm gonna still have a little faith
in Lebron James that he can get this team in
the playoffs. Rob Parker. After that lost last night, though,
(01:23:58):
what say you? Their season ended officially last night? Yes,
the Lakers season is officially over. Wake the kids, call
the neighbors. It's over. You keep waiting, O, Chris Boussard.
You know what Chris said two weeks ago on Undisputed
(01:24:18):
every Day. His argument was they'll be fine. They'll be fine.
That was his argument, they'll be fun. Lebron's track record.
I'm sorry, Lebron James is a broken down, thirty four
year old gelopi who can't play defense. We saw it
last night. It was pathetic. Chris Bussard, I don't care
(01:24:40):
about he was the greatest player on the planet. Last
night was it was rock bottom. I could not have
net that he stood there and he had the nerve
who was a kindly drove past him for an easy
lay up. I mean it was kindly and everybody else
and he looked He looked and threw his hand up, like,
(01:25:00):
where's the defense? Try to stop the basketball? Can you
move to your left a little bit? Can you move?
And then there was another big three that hurt them
late in the game where it was Lebron's man. He
stood the filion Kevin Duran, that's what they call they
call him, and Chris. He looked at the guy. He
didn't run towards he was nowhere near. He didn't he
(01:25:22):
didn't go. We were we were closer to that guy
right now than Lebron was last. Lebron would have been
closer if he was in Brazil, he would have been
closer to the Brazilian Kevin Durand look, it's in the
Bruno Kablico name. That's the guys. Is that his name? Chris?
It's indefensible. Hold on, let me finish one more, all right.
(01:25:44):
I just I've been trying to tell you this, and
I know people wanted to go back. I told you
Lebron James came here right for Hollywood and all the
other stuff that goes with it, you know, the businesses
and whatnot. He didn't come here to win a championship.
He did not, And he told you. I have nothing
(01:26:06):
to prove. Do you remember that speech. I don't have
to prove anything to anybody. I don't want anybody. Jack.
I told you he wanted to be Meryl Streep and
a mogul. That's what Lebron James had in his future,
not to win a championship. He came here without the
pieces in place, without his number two guys. He's never
done that, Chris, And that's what threw up a red
(01:26:27):
flag to me, because he had to wait to find
out what's gonna happen. And I understand he had the
young the young core. Don't now tell me, oh the core, dude,
this is what you signed up for. Knew, and Lebron
was very much in on the veterans that they signed,
the fact that they weren't shooters, the fact that they
(01:26:48):
were play was that they were defenders that could switch.
They have some toughness about him. Lebron was in all
of that. So I told you he's the worst general
manager in the NBA. He did a Cleveland. You remember
when they put together that ray one of the title No,
I'm talking about the last year, Chris, when they brought
in uh, Dwayne Wade. They got to the final. No, no,
(01:27:10):
not with Dwayne Wade. Dwayne Wade and Derek Rose and
all those older guys, and he was like, oh, well
this isn't working. They don't want their roles and they were.
So then they went and traded with the Lakers and
got nance and got uh, who's the other guy from
the Lakers? Rodney Hood, George George Hill and Mary Dance Junior. Right,
(01:27:30):
they got the other guy all the tattoo, yeah, Jordan Clarkson. Right.
They brought those guys in. They didn't add up anything.
They lost in four games. They got swept. And my
only point is that you can't sign up for something
and then act like all of a sudden you you
you were you were bamboozled, or you got you got
a delta, a phony hand that you weren't expecting. This
(01:27:53):
is what you signed up for. You brought up an
interesting point, and you said it before. It's wasn't the
first time You've always said it. Lebron came here to
be Meryl Street. What I would say is Lebron made
a miscalculation, a big one because I you know, I
talked to people close to Lebron and they felt just
(01:28:15):
as Lebron said a few weeks ago, Lebron's legacy is
set if he doesn't win it. Yeah, of course he
wants to. But if he doesn't win the title, you know,
he's Lebron Jane. He's done what he's done, like you can't.
Nothing's going to take down his legacy. That's what they felt,
(01:28:35):
and so of course he wants to come to LA
and win the championship, but if he doesn't, he's Teflon.
That was the feeling, and you're absolutely right. And I
said it several times on the Herd last year before
he came here. I said, look, when all the talk
was Lebron's coming to the Lakers, I said, Lebron, just
(01:28:55):
think about it. Though, you better come here and win.
This is one of the reasons I said maybe he
shouldn't and maybe he won't come to LA was because
if you come to the Lakers, every other star on
your level has won a championship at least one. Jerry West,
(01:29:16):
Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neill,
they all delivered at least one championship. That's what the
Lakers are, but they're not gonna be happy getting to
the second round. They're not gonna be happy even getting
to the finals and losing. They won a title, and
(01:29:39):
I agreed that it will not. Lebron has is tremendous.
He's last night. He obviously he became the first player
ever to be in the top five scoring all time
to assists. No, that's I mean, you can't do that.
That's a legitimate number. That's an incredible achievement. So I
do agree. I do agree he shouldn't have tweeted that
(01:30:03):
out or Instagram, but it's a tremendous achievement and it
was done in winning They didn't win championships every year,
but he did that on winning team, So nobody can
take that away from me. So I agree. His legacy
is his legacy. However, especially in this day and age,
you are what you've done lately? What have you done
(01:30:24):
for me lately? Janet Jackson saying that I'm pointing out
DJ Tisher, He don't know nothing about that. He could
throw that up there. What have you done for me?
I know that you know, but there you go. But anyway, Lebron,
a lot of people are gonna remember this, especially Lakers
fans who already don't like the fact that he's ranked
(01:30:45):
ahead of Kobe all time. Don't you remember what all
those guys who are marking up the Murals right, yes,
before the season even started, So you could imagine you
already have that group of people out there. And here's
the other posts could be an ugly four years for
why if he doesn't and I don't think he's gonna
win a championship and here, but he needs to get
(01:31:06):
them close just to make them Really the last reason Chris,
that I do believe that the season has ended last
night at Memphis is that teams aren't afraid of the
Lebron or the Lakers. Like there's nothing like sitting Toronto
shaking in their boots, you know what I mean, Like
there's blood in the water, and these teams are like,
we can beat them a Lebron or no Lebron. And
(01:31:28):
I think that's the part that I see that uh
Noah last night where this dude has been on life support.
I mean, where did he come from last night? Right?
He's not gonna do that against anybody else the Lakers,
I'm telling you. And if there it was their super Bowl,
their champion. The idea that you could bury averyways had it,
(01:31:51):
remember back to when he was in Chicago. But you
can now all these players are like, yes, yes, we
can bury Lebron. He thought they were gonna they thought
when Lebron went to LA they were gonna like, add Lebron,
poor water, stir and win a championship. That's all they to. Oh,
just add Lebron to that young core and and and
get another player, and they're gonna be They're gonna be
(01:32:13):
ready to take over the Golden State. Well, nobody was
saying that some people will. Nobody, Yes, the Lebron people.
I don't know if anybody on earth was saying, you
said fifty three wins and when they were the fourth seed. No,
it's not that. Not here that I can't say, let
hear that. No, I can't say no, no, that was
three of your high horse, mister rob Party. I saying
(01:32:35):
a fact, I'm on my hard horse. Just because you
you want tom you want to overcom and say you
want to overcompy. I was right on this rodeo. You
want to copy because you took such a lackey. We're
not talking about stop it. Stop how you want overcompen
(01:32:57):
Satan beat your chat like I know all, I know
all who, don't know all who? Damn, it's not over
there trying two games left, and I think Lebron James
has enough pride that they might make something. Though this
might mean I can't make defend because the dude don't defend.
The solar lame might make something happen. Let's better pair
(01:33:19):
Jordans or mister Mike. No, you pulled out the bed.
We'll get to that next. Look we're gonna do shut
you you pulled out. Yeah, but you can't have a game.
Get it out. No, it's it's over. You had your change.
Why won't you better than now? Because they look like garbage?
All right, that's why you would bet you but you
had your change? You say out? Did you say they
(01:33:40):
look like garbage? On Lebron they look like as the team.
I just want to whole unit defensively, he looks bad, No,
no doubt about that. All right, you're turned away. In
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven

the Lakers officially hit rock bottom? Is we're looking over

All right, It is your chance to weigh in on
Lebron and the Lakers. Let's start with Mitch and Chicago. Mitch,
Welcome to the Odd Couple. Yeah, fellas, I enjoyed the
(01:36:01):
show as always, but I'm reminded of the fact that
the Cavaliers last year when Kyrie left, all they dysfunctional,
or they got so much drama, or they got the Kardashians,
they got all this other stuff. Oh that, and they're
losing games that they had no business losing last year.
All they should have eaten this team. Or if they
(01:36:23):
make the playoffs, they'll get stay. They're not going to
make the finals. Uh And and the Bramson back smoking
a Cigar saying, yeah, how you like me? Now you
know what I just I just wait a minute. I
disagree with you. Mitch showed me last year when they
were out of the playoffs and the difference. They would
never come on man, I agree, yeah, they would never
(01:36:44):
out of the player you. I get what you're saying, Mitch,
but it's this is different. This is different. This is
the Western Conference and they were never ever out of
the playoff picture. There's no question, and you're right, it's
the West. It's different. He ran through the East like
like another thing that if this continues, I don't think
(01:37:04):
it's fair because I don't think the West is what
he used to be so like even last I don't
think the West is good. But some people would look
at this is oh, you dominated the East and now
you went to the Weston couldn't even make with a
better supporting cast, probably than he had last year in Cleveland,
no doubt. Hey Jim and Nevada, you're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What you got Jim? Hey fellows,
(01:37:27):
how y'all done? Hey? I grew up. I grew up,
Michael Jordan ere and uh, I guess the biggest thing
I can say about Lebron, Uh, everything kind of died
for him after after that loss in Game one when
he had a great game one last Yeah what do
(01:37:47):
he have final game? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, And it was
a great game. I mean, the guy was amazing. I
still don't think he's the greatest of all time. I
got to give that to my But he reminds me
now a lot of when Michael left Chicago and went
to the Wizards, and uh, the Wizards, you know, Washingman.
(01:38:09):
They were all thinking, no, Michael's gonna bring us championships
and all this and all that. It just reminds me
a lot of what's going on with La right now.
You know what's funny is right, Uh, Michael didn't make
the playoffs down in Washington. Both of you two years
got hurt the first year. But and you know what else,
because I was around the game stories on them. In
(01:38:31):
Jordan's last year the play it was a lot of
dysfunction there too. Oh yea. The players didn't like Jordan
was hard on teammates and he was hard on him
in Chicago, but because they won so much, guys just
took it and didn't Washington. Washington was the same way,
they didn't win, and the young guys, young guys who
had grown up with his poster on their wall RiPP Yeah,
(01:38:56):
because they had traded uh or was it Stackhouse? Didn't
they stackhouse for Yeah, that was a trade, but one
of them was there at that time. But yeah, they
were sick of Michael Jordan. And sometimes it's tough for
an agent superstar, no doubt. Let's go to Jerome in Phoenix, Jerome,
you're on with Chris and Robb. Hey, I appreciate going
(01:39:16):
having me on. Thank you. I listen to you every day. Man,
man appreciate it, Yes, sir, So I will say this so,
I mean I was never the biggest Lebron fan before
he came. Now I always respected his game. But we
all expect these players to be like Kevin Durant and
Russell westbroog War. We have to remember their first season,
you know, the first couple of seasons, they weren't the greatest.
(01:39:36):
That was even when James Harden. So these kids, we
don't expect me that good. So of course they're not
gonna they're not gonna develop it as well as they were,
but you still have to give him some time. Now,
it's hard when Lebron plays with his young talent. But
as soon as they get some vesting or I think
it'd be a lot easier to Remember, no one was
expecting them to do anything this year, So you're saying
you still have faith in the future that once they
(01:39:57):
get like veterans in the not so much those players.
I mean, eventually you can trade them off. But but
we we just we never we didn't expect anything from
them this year. We all talked about it, but then
they started winning. We did expect the playoffs. Say, the
one thing that christ is saying is right, ain't nobody
think that the Lakers weren't gonna make the playoffs once
(01:40:18):
they got Lebron jam and they don't make the playoffs,
that's big news, right, And we could and Rob I'd
said it to you. We there was a point where
you could have blamed the six and twelve record without Lebron.
But he's back now, and the law, I mean, it'd
be one thing if you lost to one of these
horrible teams and Boston and Houston, but you beat you know,
(01:40:41):
Memphis in New York. But you're losing to these bad
teams over and over and over again, and Lebron's playing
like like defensively, not there offensively putting up triple doubles,
you know what I mean. He's like contributing, and he
still can't get them to win. And that's the part
when you start to shake your head. Those three losses
to it Atlanta and to the Pelicans and now Memphis,
(01:41:02):
those are three bad losses since Lebron's been back. There
comes a point where a great player, Lebron has always
been a guy that got numbers and one. There comes
a point though, when great players can still because they're
great getting numbers, but they can't dominate a game. Jordan
I always say, like people say when Jordan was in Washington,
(01:41:23):
it hurt his legacy. I actually think, if anything, maybe
it helped. He was a forty year old, legitimate All star.
Twenty point six rebounds, four assists the game or forty
four percent shooting, that's all star level. For him, it
was bad, but for every everybody human being is great,
and he just couldn't dominate the game. Ali and Las
(01:41:44):
Vegas showing the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Ali?
I love this show. Thank you. Lebron's not even being
a true Laker captain. That's sad, he's not even being
a true captain because Kobe after a loss, he'll be
in the gym next next morning. What's these with these rookies,
you know what, these young bucks and counting the next strategy.
(01:42:08):
You know, I don't know if he'd be with the
young bucks, you know, huddled up coming over the next strategy,
he would be in the gym, though, he would be
in the gym working on his shot or whatever it took. Look,
Lebron and Lebron, you can't question his work. Lebron's cutting
and scratching in the soundproof with with two chains, right,
with two chains, mister chains. That's the one thing that's
(01:42:33):
a big difference between Lebron and Kobe. It's just Kobe's tenacity.
But that's why a lot of players you've talked to,
former players, they all point to that. And even though
Lebron's had so much success and Paul of so much numbers,
they were they respect that part of Kobe, no question, right,
no question. And I think Kobe was so tenacious he
(01:42:54):
struck fearing you as an opponent. Lebron is great and
everybody respects his greatness, but is he gonna strike fear
in you. I don't know. I don't think. So we
got we got time for one more we could squeeze
and rob g Yep, let's go to Jay and Los Angeles.
True Laker fan, we assume. Welcome to the Eye Couple. Yes, sir,
I'm a true Laker fan. I just you know, Lebron
(01:43:17):
probably took it for granted being in the East and dominated.
He took it for granted, who's gonna make the playoffs?
And they felt like they bought themselves a year that
they had the time. He didn't expect not to be
in the playoffs. But you gotta understand, Dallas right now
is at twenty six and thirty four. That's a half
game out of the eight spot in the Eastern Conference.
(01:43:38):
And that's the second it's the worst team in the West.
And so you mean year are you talking about saying?
But put the Dallas they were in the East. Okay,
if they were in the East, they'd be a half
game out of day Well, what were their records? Their
record would actually be better because they'd be playing more
Eastern teams. They'd be in the playoffs. Right, But I
(01:43:58):
know the playof know What'm saying, did you cut him off?
Ja ahead, ja go ahead? Yeah, yeah, So I just
think you know, the Western Conference from top to bottom
has always been tough. The worst teams in the West
would be playoff teams in the East, and and and
when we make the argument for Lebron being the goat,
(01:44:18):
that's why you hear a lot of Lakers fans, why
the Kobe fans say he's not even past Kobe, because
Kobe was dominating in his prime in the East. He
probably would have went to five or six or seven,
who knows how many times they would have went straight
to the finals. But that's why we look at that
three and six. That's why it's so significant with his
finals record, because when he faces the best in the West,
(01:44:40):
he does not succeed. Now, that's very legitimate opinion. That's
a great, great call and called in a couple times.
There's gonna be more of that as this goes on.
That's why I said Rob Some people are gonna write
off as his age and whatever. But some people, particularly
maybe Laker fans, are gonna say, hold up, you were
(01:45:01):
doing all that in the East, and now you can't
you continue to put up numbers that to some people
would suggest you're still in your prime. And you even
admitted that you basically cruised through the regular seas in
the last couple of years and then turned it on.
You can't do that in the world. No, you cannot.
A good point, all right, it is the odd couple
and things just went from bad to worse for Lebron.
(01:45:25):
James will explain next, but first let's get the dam
cars and for the latest in sports dab and they
just went from bad to worse for Duke Bishop in

to trash your least right eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six six three
six nine. So if you want to line up here
to turn chance to do it now? All right, Rob,
you have been saying for weeks now that the best
(01:48:37):
player in the world is James hard and I don't
think you believe that anymore. I do believe it. I
don't think you do. I do that with twenty one
and nine during game stretch, I know that they lose.
They beat the Warriors the other night without him. Oh
that was the game. That's right for God. I mean, look,
it's fine if you but you've been harping on Lebron's
lack of defense. Don't tell me James Harden is the
(01:48:59):
best player in the when you harp on Deef. The
only difference I'm saying, I got it. Only difference is
they went four and five Chris Paul's first nine games
back is that Lebron they're not winning despite his numbers
and he had I'm just looking at it from the
standpoint of Chris. He has to play better on defense.
Leaves there's no question to help to lead the other guys.
(01:49:20):
It's hard. It's human nature. When the best guy's not
willing to roll up his sleeve and get sleeves and
get dirty, it's hard for other people. Just like if
you see Lebron diving for loose ball, don't tell me
you don't feel compelled to dive for loose ball. I agree,
I agree, and he is not playing any defense. He
(01:49:43):
The question is this, For the last what ten eleven years,
he has been widely regarded by players, opponents, media fans
as the best player in the world. Not everybody thought it,
but most people in the those categories regarded Lebron James
as the best player in the world. That may have ended,
(01:50:06):
I said Rob last year. No other player in NBA
history in their fifteenth year has been viewed as the
best player in the world or has been the best
player in the world. I thought Lebron James was that.
I here's what I'm gonna do. I'm giving him a
little bit of benefit of the doubt. I think he's
earned it. I want to see a larger sample size.
(01:50:27):
These last few weeks have been horrendous, but I want
to see a larger sample size. Is the growing bosing him.
Is he out of shape? You know what is going
on if he can't get them to the playoffs though, right,
you're no longer the best player in the world. It
is official playoffs, that's all we're asking. So just to
(01:50:48):
be able to get there, he has to rally the
troops and get them to the playoffs. He has to
do it. Do you what you mean? You're not a
great player still, just not the greatest. He's not gonna
be first team All NBA this ship. What's your gut
though about the playoffs? I know first you thought that
Lebron would get him there. And you know, Sacramento and
these other teams, the Clippers, Clippers, they want to make it.
(01:51:10):
I talked to somebody today. They want to make it.
They feel like it's good for their brand. They feel
like it's more Yeah, it's more impressive to Kauai and
KD the target one of the best players right because
they weren't gonna signing because they're hoping to get some
of these other big guys Tobias Harris. Uh. They want
their young guys. They think it'll be good for them
(01:51:32):
to get to the playoffs and say, look, we got
to the pluff without you in the Western Conference and
Lebron James you add to us, We come to us
and we add you and another guy and before you
know it, Yes, and how about that? That's great play.
We see players on other teams Memphis, Atlanta. I mean
(01:51:55):
you could see it in Trey Young's eyes. He was like,
this is there was his Super Bowl playing against Lebron
and they are going for the juggular. What if one
of these superstars says I can actually be in the
same building and take la from the Lakers and Lebron.
(01:52:17):
Kevin Durant has long thought he was better than Lebron James.
That would be the only He couldn't wait to get
or opposite Lebron in the finals and show it. And
he did the first championship. That shot in Lebron's mug,
You know what I mean, Chris, that's one of those
when they do his videos, his highlights of his career.
(01:52:37):
Question right there. So could Kevin Durant? I think the
Knicks is his first choice if he leaves Golden State,
But could the Clippers. I look, Steve Barber, their owner,
was on his recent show The Boardroom, and I know
for a fact was told it in no uncertain terms.
When Kevin Durant went to Golden State, he met with
(01:52:58):
the Clippers, he met with several a few teams. The
Clippers blew him away with their president. Wow, he had
already wanted to go to Golden States, so they didn't
change his mind. But but but he was wildly and
unlike when free agents talked to the Lakers and they
sat back and goes, we're the Lakers. We played the
Stable Center. We're in Los Angeles, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and
(01:53:21):
people going, what that's your winning? That ain't enough. I
got the sunshine and all and and you know, and
the lights and all that other flash, but you got nothing.
They didn't offer anything. Right, No, it was. It was ridiculous.
So do you you see where I'm coming from. You
think that's fair to you know, Let's see if he
(01:53:42):
can get them in the playoffs. I need a larger
sample size before I'm ready to say he's not the
best player in the world. It's close. No, I mean, dudes,
are Yannis Durant? I mean Kawhide has doesn't play enough
for me. You know, he's playing the night and they're
beating Boston. But he needs to be out on the
court a little more. But yeah, it's a for grabs
and Lebron may no longer be the best in the world.
(01:54:04):
All right, frustrated sports fans, this one is for you.
Trash Talking Tuesday is next. It's the Y Couple. Fox
Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at
seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific. At Farmer's Insurance, we
(01:54:25):
know a roof can withstand a lot, one exception being
an airborne car. Seen it covered it? Talk to farmers.
We are farmers underwritten my farmers truck fire insurance, exchanges
and affiliates products unavailable in every state. All right, it's
the oy Couple. Let's not waste any time because it
is trash talking Tuesday. Don't you whatever we're talking about it,
(01:54:49):
it's trash talking Tuesday. It's a teeth reggy. I don't
know whether to smile. Let's you kick a field go there?
All right, let's get it started. I see one of
Rod Parkers from Detroit has called in. It's my man?
Is he man? Jay? All right? Go ahead? Jay? Who
(01:55:11):
you trashing? Good? Even what's up? What's up? Brother? Hey,
Chris Man, I gotta I gotta put to your place
a little bit. Man. You know you and this Lebron talk, Man,
you just needed to stop. Let's just call a spade
a spade. Lebron took the sexy pick. He got tired
(01:55:31):
of getting to the finals in the East because he
know he was gonna get his butt kicked. Now with
that being said, I don't want to hear no, oh,
he's gonna make the playoffs. No, well, Lebron really thought
he was just gonna take his jersey laid out on
the court, and now I was gonna make them the playoffs.
I don't want to hear nothing about he needs a
new team. He gotta wait till he get some vets.
Think about Kobe back in his later years or even
(01:55:53):
his younger years, before he got the savvy vets like
the Saul and the rest of them guys, Kobe still
had that killer mentality and he used to bow out
just because his team was on the path of not
making a playoff. So you just need to get that
in your head, man. They just let's just call it
what it is, man, That's what it is. Chris it's
trash talking to you. I'm not gonna rebutt. I'm just
(01:56:15):
gonna say they did miss the playoffs and Kobe demand
of the trade. That's I go to Charles in Victorville.
Who you trash? What's up? Man? Hey, Chris, I love you, Rob?
You not so much? What I was gonna Charles, I
was gonna trash. I got family in Victorville. That's all right,
go ahead, Yeah, but you're not so much. Man. You
don't know what you've been talking, You hater. Rob from
(01:56:36):
Real Talks. Wow, who are you trashing? Trash Barker or
somebody else? Trash? I'm gonna trash. Luke Walton, man, the
person who really need to be trash. Everybody need to
lead Lebron and alone. All the Laker fans knew Lebron
wasn't a top five player when he came to us,
so we knew. We knew he wasn't gonna lead U
to the playoffs. But Luke Walton is. Luke Walton is
(01:56:57):
the real problem. I mean, he his rotations that he
put out there, It's like he has no feel for
what anybody could do on the court. He's just putting
guys out there hoping anything, hoping for good stuff. And
I've been watching this for three years. Man, I really
think it's signed for this guy to go. Wow, he
will be gone at the end of this season. I
believe what about it should have happened before All Star break?
(01:57:20):
You know what I mean? Yeah, Well it's too late now.
And appreciate the call anyway, Charles and Victorville. What about
Mike and Long beat you on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio? Who you trashing Mike? Man, I'm trashing Lebron?
What's going on on couple? What's happen many? Man? You know,
I just want to say, first and foremost malts if
you guys every day, and I really appreciate you. Guys
(01:57:40):
are undisputed. Last week you guys were great, man, Thank you.
We appreciate that absolutely. Man. So, like I was saying, Man,
I want to trash Lebron because Lebron's the biggest task
was really not to come here and win, but to
come here and show that he can teach these young
men how to play the right way, and he has
failed miserably on all four sides. On the defensive end
(01:58:02):
and showing guys like Blonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma how
to pick it up in crunch time. He has not
proven he can do that. He wasn't able to teach
it to Kyrie because Kyrie was already the closer. He
used to try to bash Rio Chalmers in Miami. He
gives none of these young guys a chance, and now
he only relies on veterans, which are suspect at times.
(01:58:23):
All right, that's a good nothing wrong with that, that's
a legit trashing. All right, let's go to Joseph in Indiana. Joseph,
who you trashing of? Crossing you? Chris Wow, no love
today for me? Go ahead, go ahead. You're a big
Lebrons fan. I always fill my fear segments of undisputed
(01:58:45):
or the herd. You always give le Bron all the
play thing. He's one of the best players. He was
no longer the best player in the league when he
loft to Kevin Durant multiple times. Kevin Durants have the
best player in the world. You can't learn that the
broble will ever be the goat. Well, Jordan's the goat,
all right, Joseph coming hard? Now, do you know as
(01:59:07):
you think Jordan's the goats? A good trashy James and Brooklyn.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Who
you trashing? Contrashion? I'm Minnesota Wild, the Wild? The Wild?
Why because the Wild might not make the playoffs? Some
dumb dumb trades. They're making idiotic trades just late in
the season. Could they're scrambling for some help the Actually
(01:59:31):
they need a lot of help. All right, there you go.
That's a unique one. Let's go to Mace in San Diego. Mace,
who you trashing the New England Patriots Club? Keep up
the Tom Brady bashing. You're correct that he is the vote. Finally,
a sports analyst that doesn't suck up to this cheater
(01:59:52):
and this organization that has predicated success from cheating anything.
Anyone with a shot of intelligence knows the tuck rule
with bs. This team is coached by that d bag
Bill Belichick, who's been caught red handed for cheating in
the past. Not always does this organization cheat. They played
in a stadium sponsored by Jillette, a company that bashes men,
which ironically as a target consumer I know I speak
(02:00:14):
for millions by throwing away all gilet products and ballent
to never buy anything made by that man bashing company
not to mention their model citizen an owner Bob Kraft
getting cut listening prostitution. Way to go, Bob. My Hatrey
is so deep towards this organization though I never buy
anything was named craft on it, not even the Macaronian chief.
(02:00:35):
Look at Great Joy track. We gotta do a hey,
TJ in Maryland, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. Who you Trash and TJ All? I just
wanted to say, how are you guys doing to night
old Trash and Scottie Pitton and two years ago our
(02:00:57):
first take he said, but Bron James had to pass
Michael Jordan's not in championships but insteads then, you know,
to back a couple weeks ago when when name was
a shoot for the Also Weekend, he's saying that, uh,
Lebron j doesn't have the clutch. Now, I know he
was in the easton Carverence, you know the past sixteen years. Well,
Lebron made some shots last in the playoffs that you
(02:01:20):
know made him cluse. I know it was against Toronto,
but the bank shout he hit against Toronto and the
three to close out in the end. I mean Scottie Pipman.
I like you, but you can't just backtrack. I know, Michael,
Michael Jordan's you do, but you can't do that well
you know all from Mike, like yo, oh yeah, you're
talking about already. He's been making up for it everything.
(02:01:41):
Ryan in Austin, you got about thirty seconds. Go ahead,
how's it going, Fellas. I just wanted to say, I
hate how everybody keeps having these ghost conversations because it's
based off of whatever you want it to fee. So,
for example, y'are talking about wild Chamberlain, how he's a
that stuffer. You know, the record book is all his biography,
(02:02:04):
but yet he only won two rings. I think it
is Lebron puts up amazing stats and only has won
three rings. But yet he's arguably one of the greatest time.
And we'll get no love, got good God? Call Ryan,
we got that's it. We got Yeah, we we got
a roll and that was a good Tuesday. Keep bringing it.
(02:02:24):
We appreciate it. Even if you trash me. I'm cool
with it. Robs. Somebody trust me today because I think
this is the first. Yeah, gotta have the bones, you
gotta have the structure. No, it was. It was a
good show. Look Lakers play what Tomorrow? A waitmute that
Charles and Victorville. He was kind of Trusha, he was.
(02:02:45):
He got two trashes and you and Luke Walton all right.
