(00:23):
R ah. Wow. Wow, so it's done. That is not

(01:01):
an emergency, you know, when they have on the radio,
get the same you know. Yeah, when your local broadcaster
you have an emergency signal, which means that you need
to tune in to find out what's happening. That was
not what that was? Yeah, maybe I need to abbreviate that.
Moving forward, now, goodness, thirty three seconds, it's Jonas Knox. Yes,

(01:22):
it is the Odd Couple, Rob Parker, Jonas Knox in
for Chris Broussard, and yes, we're coming to you live
from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. Fifteen minutes could
save you fifteen percent of more on car insurance. Visit
Geico dot com for a free rate quote. And Jonas,
I am of course pumped. I feel great. NCAA tournament No,

(01:44):
not that it's opening day. I was there. He just
fell to the floor. He's on the floor. Come on, Jonas,
wake up. You know what, Jonas? You needed to be
at Dodger Stadium today? Oh my good this sorry whatever, Yeah,
I don't know. You said something that opening Dana unbelievable

(02:06):
for a minute. It was spectacular, sunshine, big crowd, people excited.
I'm gonna say this, and I've worked in a lot
of towns, you know that, York, Cincinnati, You've gotten around
irond I think more people wear Dodger jerseys and stuff

(02:27):
hurts to games in any other place of a reward. Well, yeah,
because it's a decent looking jersey. You know what, I'm simple,
blue white. They don't you see the Marlins jerseys. You've
seen some of these other jerseys. It's kind of tough
to the Dodgers and Yankees and Red Sox. I think
you're the only ones who I've messed with. Theirs. No, like,
it's still the same jersey that they've always had and plush.
You know this, being a fashion guy, if you have
a Yankee striped jersey on, then you've got like and

(02:50):
then you've got like some camouflage shorts. It just doesn't
really look all that hot. So the Dodgers. It's just
plain white. Yeah. It works well with everything, no doubt
about it. But we are gonna get of course to
the NCAA tournament games resumed tonight. We'll do that. We'll
talk some NBA couple of guests. We have Antonio Daniels, who,
of course thirteen year NBA veteran TV analysts for the OKC.

(03:13):
Thunder will talk with him. Also, Jonas ken Rosenthal MLB,
a reporter for of course Fox, one of the best
in the business. We'll talk with him a little later
on the program. Trolling and Rolling, Martin Weiss, he'll come through.
We'll do that trolling and that's a new one. I
haven't heard that feature to the show. Yes, all right, no,

(03:38):
we added that to the show. But first let me
welcome in, of course, the Odd Couple crew. We wouldn't
be able to do this find radio program without him.
Gavin is our producer and for Rob g Alex of
course is our engineer. Ralph Irving is our sports anchor.
He'll keep us updated throughout the program. In for Deb
Carson and of course i'll intern is Iowa State Nate,

(04:03):
that's right. And Elijah is of course our social media guru,
and he keeps us updated, you know, on all the
social media platforms. So they're all on the other side
of the glass. Jonas Knox, let's kick some ask on
this TV theme song Thursday. So we got a great
show lined up, and we're gonna start with Major League

(04:24):
Baseball Opening Day all around the country. And I don't
know about you. I don't know how surprised you are,
but I'm not really Bryce Harper, And you know what
ESPN did today's first game with the Phillies. Right signed
the big three hundred and thirty million dollar contract, sold
one hundred thousand tickets in twenty four hours after he signed,

(04:46):
sold more new jerseys than Lebron did when he got
the Laker jersey with his name on the back. Bryce
Harper outsold Lebron, which is really impressive when you think
about the Laker brand and Lebron and being outsold by
Philadelphia and Bryce Harper. And plus, it's a single number.
It's just a number three. You don't have these bulky
thirty fours. It makes everybody look like a fat ass.

(05:07):
You just got the single number. It works with everything.
It's a good move by Bryce Harper, and you ready
for this. Here's the other one coming into this season.
Bryce Harper just ended the rain of Yankee slugger Aaron Judge,
who was the all time the jersey seller the last
two years. Guess what is It's Bryce Harper. Already he

(05:30):
de throned Aaron Judge as the highest selling jersey as
we start the season, so of course the focus was
in on him. He didn't get any hits today. But
this is the part I guess I want to bring up,
is that were you shocked or surprised? Not that ESPN
cut in for his very first at bat, because the
game that they showed first was the Yankees against the Orioles.

(05:54):
They cut in for Harper's at bat, showed his at bat,
but that Philly fans boom to him after he struck
out for the second time and his second at bat, No,
I'm not surprised. I actually think they were probably busting
his balls a little bit. But I think I think
it was, you know, a sarcastic sort of boo. But here,
that's the thing about Bryce Harper. When people complain about
the contractor, they complain about the amount of money he

(06:15):
brings in. You you can't just look at it from
a numbers standpoint, because his numbers are not going to
be as good as Mike Trouts, his numbers aren't going
to be as good as some other players around the league.
But when they're doing live look ins and you're generating
that kind of revenue off sales, and you're booing his
second at bat because you know it's going to get
some attention, that's why you bring that guy in. It's

(06:36):
more than just what he brings from a baseball standpoint
and what his splits are. And and here's my other thing,
and you'll probably agree with me on this one. It
is about stars. I get the numbers and the analytics,
Yes it is. Well, people will shell out money to
see a star. And I'll give you a perfect example.

(06:58):
The Oakland A's a year ago, one night, eighty seven games,
they were twenty eighth in attendance. You know why, other
than Chris Davis, who hit a lot of home runs
as their best player. Other than them, they didn't have
many players, star players. And I still believe that there's
something about that. And if you're a Phillies fan, there
were eighty and eighty two a year ago, and they

(07:19):
go out and signed this guy. That tells you as
a fan what they're serious. Yes, right. And also it's
the same thing when the Padres went out and signed
Manny Machado, I applauded the Padres and I know you
did too. And here's why I did it, because that's
a team who's got every incentive to not do a
damn thing from the ball club because they're the only

(07:39):
show in town. It's the Padres, nothing else. It's the
San Diego Zoo, and it's the hippies who hang out
in kik Khaki Sackson drink forty ouncers on the beach.
That's it. They're the only show in town. The Chargers
are gone. There is no NBA team. You know what
the Padres did. They said, screw it, we're gonna spend
We're gonna spend money, We're gonna bring a guy in
and we want people back out to the ballpark. And

(08:01):
they're a team that had no incentive to do it.
They were the only show in town and the Padres
wouldn't shell out money. The Phillies did so too good
for both organizations, and both teams won. Manny didn't have
a hit today in his debut with the Padres, but
they won two nothing, got a great pitching performance, and
they had to sell out crowd down in San Diego.
I don't know if they would have had to sell
out if they didn't have Manny. I really don't. Yeah,

(08:22):
I don't know. Maybe maybe because it's opening Day, but
I think that it definitely helped and make people feel
a little bit better about, you know, going to the ballpark,
that there's a startusy. Yeah. Well, I also think we
need to be honest about something here, Major League Baseball.
The crooks at Major League Baseball have scammed us again.
They've scammed us. They've scammed you, a Hall of Fame voter,
and if people listening to this right now with this

(08:42):
phony opening day crap they had Opening Day last week
in Tokyo and then they're gonna try and redo it
again like we didn't all know what just happened a
week ago. It's crap. They're crooks. I think everybody should
get their money back on their ticket for being sold
a bill of goods and the other part. And then
I was at Dodgers Stadium for Opening Day and what
is that over? Finally they've been hitting the ball out

(09:04):
of the park I think the Dodgers hit against the
Arizona Diamondbacks hits set eight home runs in seven innings
and the first seven innings, so people there are basket
in the sunshine. And you know what, Dodgers Stadium is
the second oldest stadium in the National League, and they're
way better stadiums as far as amenities in the way,

(09:27):
but still they packed that place last year at three
point eight million people went to Dodgers Stadium. It was
unbelievable and I get it. I think that Opening Day too,
And I wonder if you agree with this or what
your thoughts on a Jonas is not just the first
the first game of the year, of course is big,

(09:48):
but there's a lot of other stuff. There's a bond
there when you go with family members, you know, and
you share that Opening Day and you remember going. And
then for a lot of people back east where the
weather's not great, it's the start of spring, you know,
the unofficial start of spring, and sunshine and being outside again,
it's a big thing. I think a lot of people

(10:09):
embrace Opening Day. And now there are going to be
some games that are going to be played in really
bad weather because there's still gonna be cold weather and
there's gonna be some rain and stuff like that. I
remember one a year ago Cubs and Braves at Wrigley Field,
and Joe Madden said it was the worst conditions he
had ever played in, and he played in the World
Series game that got rained out. He said, he said

(10:31):
it was unhealthy to play in those kind of cold temperatures.
So you're gonna get some of that early on. But
I also think it's from from just a game standpoint.
It's a change of pace. And if you look around
what we've been dealing with in sports recently, NCAA tournament,
high energy, up and down the floor, it's just you're
on the edge of your seat. NBA is all about

(10:52):
drama and storylines and who likes this and who likes that,
and who's going where. The NFL is to the wire,
your Super Bowl and fantasy leagues and all that, and
then baseball rolls in and you can just hang out
and watch a game. The stress levels are down. There's
no I think there's something to that to where people

(11:12):
can sit back, watch a game, have a beer, have
a hot dog, or some of these other I mean,
we should spend the stadium menus they've got nowadays, unbelieving,
like they're wrapping up dead bodies and serving them to people.
It's crazy what they're doing. I'll tell you I think
baseball and I've said this to people. When I want
to catch up with a buddy, I like to go
to a baseball game. You can do it. It's the
best three hours of quality time you can spend with

(11:35):
a person because along with the game in front of me,
I don't have to watch, not like we go to
basketball game. You gotta watch every play of football. You know,
you're watching the action. I could sit back if there's
somebody coming up, I'm not at the bottom of the
orders coming up me, and you could catch up and
have a conversation. Talk. Now, base is loaded key situation.
We focus in on the game. He's up the bat,

(11:57):
here's a key moment. You don't have to watch now.
The playoffs are different when you watch every pitch, oh god,
but not when you talk about a regular season baseball game.
And I think the quality time you spend is as
good as a game. It's just relaxing. And look, maybe
there's something to that. Not being a good game, not
being a good thing. At certain points of the season,

(12:19):
because there is a loll in the season to where
you're kind of like, man, this is just kind of
dragging on. It's July, it's August, there's not a lot
going on, and you're waiting for football season. Maybe you're
not paying attention to baseball. But I just think from
a change of pay standpoint, you can only have your
heart going a thousand miles an hour enough during a
sporting event before you realize, man, I just want to

(12:39):
hang out and watch a game and not really have
my livelihood on the line for it. And so I
think that that's where baseball comes in, no doubt about it.
All Right, it is the odd couple of Fox Sports
Radio Opening Day? Not really did you watch? Did you watch? What?
Are you surprised that Bryce Harper was booed after striking
out in the second half? That I wasn't a surprise

(13:04):
by Philly because that's what Philly does. Stayed horsecrap off
the ground up of the Super Bowl. And do you
and do you get jack for Opening Day? If you
were one of those guys who really look forward to it,
maybe you went to the park today, maybe you stayed
home and watched on television and just said I'm gonna
take the day off. It's opening day. I enjoy it.
I'm checked up about it, no doubt. Ballpark filled eight

(13:28):
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. It is opening day.
We want to hear about your opening day. How did
you handle it and what would you anything surprise you
this day because I don't think if you really know
about Philadelphia, that shouldn't have surprised you that they're all
they do. It is what they do. It's The Odd
Couple Fox Sports Radio. I'm very, very excited about it.

(13:50):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker week days at seven

collision has a unique sound. Beetle bird, boop, drone seen
it covered it, Doctor Farmers. We are farmers under written

(14:14):
my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable
in every state. That's right. A TV theme song Thursday
here on The Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio and
Jonas you know, car shopping can be confused in with
terms like dealer price, list, price, and invoice. True Car
shows you what other people pay for their car, the

(14:35):
pay for the car that you want, so that you
can recognize a good price when you're ready to buy
a new or used car. Visit True Car to enjoy
a more confident car buying experience. Our telephone number eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine
nine six six three six nine. Opening Day around MLB America,

(14:59):
I mean, crowds everywhere. We saw mostly good weather and
people seem to be like I was at Dodger Stadium,
basket in the sun. It felt so good out there today. Yeah,
and if you go to like some of these home openers,
they are done up. I know Cincinnati had a big
for years, right that they original opener. I remember Andy
Ferman always told me Cincinnati sports radio legend, also a

(15:22):
host here at Fox Sports Radio. Good friend of mine,
you know Andy Ferman, however, Yeah, he used to tell
me that was the big thing in Cincinnati, to where
they would shut down certain parts of downtown. They had
a parade. That was the biggest thing. Cincinnati's the original
I don't know if you noticed the original professional team
in this country. Yeah, and I believe the Reds one today,
if I'm not mistaken, I believe the Cincinnati Reds did

(15:42):
did win today. They made a lot of changes and whatnot.
Puig didn't get any hits from what I saw the
last time I look, But they did win. Yeah, but
the Cincinnati Reds did beat the Pittsburgh Pirates five to three.
So the Reds are one and oh now the only
question is where they getting their other fifty two wins? Exactly?
All right? That so Opening Day? Did you go? Did

(16:05):
you enjoy it? Is it like a holiday to you?
How do you we want to look? How do you
view it? I mean, it's so many way. Most people
just like the kickback. It's the start of unofficial start
of spring. Uh, we're just curious. Let's start with b
K in Maryland. B K, you're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What you got first time car

(16:26):
A long time listener. Thank you. The other hand, it's
opening the day is one that you want to go to.
You with your friends, have a hot have a couple
of beers, kick back. It is the starting of spring. U.
The only thing that you said it was just a
little bit wrong with the age you use this. I

(16:48):
can't say is in Sespie way back in the day
with as and that brought people in. The people who
understands at Harper the fan. They wait for the money,
they wait for the money. I'm wrestling and going to
get a championship this year. I don't know about that.

(17:11):
That's easy to throw out and for the most part
that you're gonna be in the ballpark because it's hard
to win a championship and one guy is gonna make
a baseball. By the way, it sound like he was
calling in from the fountain at Royal Stadium. Is that
what it was was that? What about Jason in Salt
Lake City? You're on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Jason, ID you guys are doing doing great? Yeah.

(17:35):
So I'm a baseball guy, always have that. Unfortunately we
don't have a team. But I feel like Opening Day
should be a national holiday. You should be able to sit.
You know, for example, I sat today and just watched
I just barely left my house. I've been watching baseball
all day long. Um, and so you know, for me,
it's uh, it definitely should be and it's it's that

(17:56):
one time of year when every single team, rather they
have a realistic or not, they have hope everyone zero zero,
everyone makes a big deal abount and everyone has you know,
had their offseason, done, their trains, all that type of stuff,
and now it's you know, time to see those guys
in your uniform and you know you have a hope
for the first you know, a few games however, you know,
good or bad you are, and then it kind of fades.

(18:18):
But for that first day, it's it's a good time,
no no doubt about it. Jason, thanks for the call
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three six nine. The thing he
talked about, uh national holiday. It used to be when
it used to line up in the old days. And
I hate to beat sound like the old man, Hey,
get off my lawn, you know, but but you remember

(18:42):
when opening Day was on the same Monday that the
National Championship Game was played. Yeah, so that was like
the big thing. You'd watch baseball during the day and
then the National Championship Game would be that night. Yeah,
things have changed now. Opening days on in Tokyo. Yaba
has it in Tokyo and it's open. And this is
the earliest opening day ever, uh for Major League Baseball,

(19:03):
because what is today the twenty eighth of March. Yeah,
so it's it's early, and it is definitely different. And
here we are teams playing for the Sweet sixteen. We
used to be. We grew up cub fans because my
dad and I a family from Illinois and Monmouth, Illinois,
a western part of the state, and so you're either
a Cub fan or you're a White Sox fan, and
so we grew up one that's not both. Yeah, there

(19:24):
is no I root for Chicago, not get out there, right,
And so for every Cubs home opener, we would always
do Chicago dogs and we get some sort of a
Chicago beer, whether it be an old style of the
tomatoes on it all so good. Best. First of all,
Wrigley Field food sucks. That bottom line. I don't want

(19:46):
to hear anybody argue that you have no idea what
you're talking about. The best Chicago dog in the city
is outside Soldier Field. There's a little cart outside Soldier Field.
You can get a Chicago dog there. I think they're
like three bucks that come from space too, because that's
the best stadium. Kid. I have no idea, but it
represents the awful product they've had majority of the time

(20:07):
that stadium has been around. But that's the best Chicago
dog in town. Once you have that, you get a
new a new appreciation for the Chicago dog. Yeah. Too
much stuff on there for me. I just love it
with I like a one hundred percent beef hot dog
and some onions and neither ketchup or spicy brown mustard. Okay,
let me ask you this. So one of the two, okay,

(20:30):
a three dollars Chicago dog or an eight dollars Dodger dog.
What do you have? I'm not paying eight dollars. I
don't you. You're gonna go three bucks. But now we're
gonna scrape off and let the birds eat it. But
I would rather have the one dollar dirty water hot
dog off the street in New York that might have
right here, Yes, that might at at the at the

(20:50):
eurocr I did you know what I'm saying? All right?
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Will take a
couple more here. What about David in Maryland? You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio, Happy old in
day Oh, you two. I just want to talk a
little bit about this game today, you know, and a
lot of people are saying the Yankees steam rolled the Oils,
and I get it, they beat us seven to two,
But none of these people realize the Oils dismantled and

(21:12):
got rid of order good ball players from last year.
I mean, we don't have Manny Machado, Adam Jones. We
saw Adam Jones. I spoke to him today because you know,
he's with the Diamondbacks, you know, and they lost two
of their biggest stars, right, you know what I mean.
But I mean, how can the Yankees, you know, say
that steam rolled a Double Way ball ball team by
seven to two. They should have beat us by twenty

(21:32):
to two or thirty to two or something like that.
I mean, that is not very impressive, you know. When
the Oils, like you say, pretty much dismantled the whole
team over the year and only beat a Double Way
ball club by five runs, I mean, that's almost makes
the Yankees look bad. Hey, David, David Good, your team stinks.
They got blood in. They're gonna get bloods in the
rest of the seam. And you know what, I'm let

(21:53):
me tell you something I appreciate the call. I'm not
gonna knock fans who say, dude, I'm out call me
when you go to be competitive. I'm serious, Like, I
can't blame people when they stripped down the team. Aubrey
and Wisconsin, you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio,
and if you're a Brewers fan, I know you're happy
because did you see that catch Lorenzo came made to

(22:13):
save the game. Oh my goodness, that was That was phenomenal.
I really felt today we kind of picked up where
we left off last season. Middle middle innings, Christian Yellows,
reigning MVP, knocked the three run jack to give us
the lead. Hater came in and did his business, but

(22:33):
then certainly Lorenzo came finishing it. Uh in the fashion
that he did. It was. There was a different kind
of excitement in Miller Park today. This is my eighth
opening day. That's awesome. Aubrey. I'm just curious how old
are you? I am thirty. That's perfect beautiful because everybody
to tell everybody that everybody who goes to games of

(22:56):
fifty five and it's just not true. No, no, oh,
there's young and old. I mean it's it's it's a
different feeling in Milwaukee this year and trying to pin
the Kansas City Royals had their two World Series runs
a few years ago, all right, and then they lost
the first one and then they wind up winning, no doubt,

(23:17):
a thank you for the call. I still think that
Royals going to Game seven, losing and then coming back
and winning the next year is one of the most
impressive runs I've seen recently in sports. I him just
saying that because we're talking baseball, But when you get
that close and you lose, you don't know, automata seven,
and then you get all the way back and then
you win that incredible job and you can talk about it.

(23:37):
Last year with the Dodgers, they lost in Game seven
to the Astros, came back and got blown out by
the by a Red Sox. And the Royals are gonna
be bad too. They're gonna be bad. They're gonna be
real bad, all right. Coming up next, thirteen year NBA
veteran Antonio Daniels joined the show. But first, here's Ralph
Fervan with what's trending? What's up? Ralph all hide and

(24:00):
it is a busy, busy day into the evening in
Major League Baseball and the NBA. We start in Major
League Baseball opening Day, the Dodgers with eight home runs,
setting an opening day record. They beat Arizona at twelve
to five, Finals, just rolling in Javier Bayas two home
runs Chris Briana home run. Chicago Cubs win at Texas
twelve four, Oakland shuts out the Angels for nothing, Colorado

(24:24):
a six three win over Miami, Minnesota shuts out Cleveland
too nothing, and Cincinnati has finished Pittsburgh five to three. Meanwhile,
on the NBA scoreboard, two games going on right now,
the Magic with a twenty seven Well, they're tide right now,
with Detroit twenty seven all that's less than thirty seconds
to go in the first quarter, inside of two minutes

(24:45):
to go in the first and the six Ers with
a thirty to twenty three lead over the Brooklyn Nets
about to tip off, Dallas and Miami and Toronto and
the New York Knicks, And of course Sweet sixteen going
on in Anaheim. Number one seed in the West Gonzaga
with a fourteen twelve lead over the four seed Florida State.
That's with eleven forty to play in the first half

(25:07):
and we'll be back to Jonas and Rob in about
ten seconds. But first word from Farmers at Farmers Insurance.
We know a roof can withstand a lot, one exception
being an airborne car. Seen it covered it, Doctor Farmers.
We are Farmers underwritten my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance exchanges
and affiliates products unavailable in every state. Now, let's celebrate

(25:30):
the glory of Opening Day with the big baseball fan,
Jonas Knox and Rob Parker. I appreciate it, damn right.
Yeah that in golf, no doubt. It is the eye
couple coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. Is easy to save fifteen percent of more
card shorts with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or

(25:52):
call eight hundred nine four seven auto. The only hard
part figuring out which way is easier. We now wocome in.
Of course, one of our favorites, a staple to the show,
Antonio Daniels, a thirteen year NBA veteran and of course
TV analysts for the Okase Thunder And if you want
to follow him on Twitter, go to at A Daniels

(26:15):
thirty three. Antonio, what's happening and Happy Opening day to you,
Rob Parker Jonas, how are you guys? Good? Antonio, thanks
so much for popping on. We appreciate it for sure.
Thanks for having me. Um. So I want to ask
you because we're gonna talk general NBA, of course, but
because you do and you are so close to the
Oklahoma City Thunder and you're an analyst for the team there.
What happened? Just for people that maybe have them been

(26:36):
paying close enough attention the Thunder now find themselves in
the seventh seed. What do you make of just sort
of the struggles they've had this back end of the
season as they head into the postseason. Well, I think
you can. You can point to a few things. Paul
George is not completely healthy. He's actually questionable for tomorrow
against the Denver Nuggets. You know his shoulder has been

(26:58):
shoulder soreness on shoulder, so he's constantly icing and KT
taping and not healthy. One, this schedule is unforgiven too.
They had the toughest schedule in the league post All
Star break. That doesn't help. And three, this team is
not competing consistently. I think when in a good barometer

(27:21):
is to see what this team is is when they
play really really good basketball. Because they're good, it's good
enough to beat any team in this league, and they're bad,
it's bad enough to lose to any team in this league.
And that is a huge spectrum that's we're talking about.
So they can go out and beat Toronto at Toronto
and play very well, move the basketball, and you see

(27:42):
guys out there competing, sacrificing for each other, and then
two nights later lose to a mustess team that is
without seven rotation players and only one starggle and two
rotation players, so they bring up guys from the t League.
They lose that game. And then last night the other
side of the Indiana Pacers and them going the best
run this year in the NBA at twenty four old run.

(28:03):
When they're engaged defensively and competing defensively, this team is dangerous,
but inconsistent and when they want to compete at that level.
How about Antonio the Nuggets. I think people of pooh
poohed them all year. I mean, they have a great
home record, it's a hard place to win, but this
team is just they're not going anywhere that they're fighting.

(28:27):
How good is the Denver Nuggets? It depends on what
are we talking about game one through game eighty two
or are we talking about the second and third week
of April. We just I'm just talking about what they've
been able to put. You know, Like if you told
me before the year that they would really, you know,
be uh neck and neck with the Warriors for the
best record that you know, I wouldn't have believed it.

(28:48):
I just wouldn't. I think they proved a lot of
us wrong. One they played together, They really played together,
and I think that starts with Yokis. His ability to
sacrifice and pass the basketball is contagious. The fact that
he makes a point of involving everyone in that offense
is contagious. They're very well coached, they're a to win

(29:10):
reflection of their head coach, Mike Malone, and they play hard.
If you add those three things to any team in
this league, you're going to put yourself in a position
to win a lot of games. And they're very versatile.
They have a lot of different guys that they can
throw at you that are in between sixt four, six
five and six foot eight. So you add all those

(29:30):
things to the equation and you're a very good basketball team.
They went through Game eighty two. But now we're talking
about the second and third week of April, we may
be talking about something different because the guys that they
truly rely on to be impactful and to produce have
not been to the playoffs yet. Last have been to
the playoffs, but Yoki hasn't been to the playoffs. Gary

(29:53):
Hillis hasn't missed the playoffs. Jamal Murray hasn't missed the playoffs.
And those guys need to play well for Denver to event.
All right, it's the I couple of Fox Sports Radio.
I guess Antonio Daniels, of course, thirteen year NBA veteran
and TV analysts for the old Casey Thunder. Antonio, we
know Golden State obviously defending champions, But is there a
team in the Western Conference that maybe doesn't get the

(30:15):
love that fans will want to give them or analysts
want to give them. But you, being a guy who
played in the league and watches these games closely, look
at and go, that's a tough out for anybody in
the conference. Well, you know what, man, It's tough because
I think there's a number of teams that you can
look at. You can look at the San Antonio Spurs
because of how well close they are, the Oklahoma City

(30:38):
Thunder because of they're sailing and their potential. Houston because
of they don't fear Golden State. If you talk to
anybody in Houston's locker room, they will tell you, you
know what, if it wasn't for Chris Paul, this will
be a completely different there if that we're talking about. About.
As far as the gold Day warned so the way
and teams went through eight, any one of those teams

(31:00):
be a tough out air. They always feel disrespected that
they're not getting the love that they can go. And
so I mean with a number of teams that I
think that you can throw in that Catifornia. Speaking of
the NBA playoffs, you know, this is the first time
in a long time that Lebron James will not an
ot be in the playoffs. But I you know a

(31:21):
lot of people are spelling, you know, doom and gloom
for the NBA Playoffs and people aren't gonna want to
watch and all that, and I totally disagree. I think
this is such a breadth of fresh air. You have
so many different storylines, so many different players. Via in
the eastest competitive unlike the past, where Lebron was was
always the story. I don't I think the playoffs will

(31:43):
flourished this year, Am I wrong? I mean, I agree.
I mean I think all of us are used to
seeing Lebrons in number one in the finals, but also
in the playoffs, right, And you know, people don't respond
well to change. People don't like change, So that's why
you're here that and this is different because what you're
saying is, well, you know, everybody in the East competing

(32:05):
boeing that Lebron Tames is coming out to East, and
everybody in the West is competing knowing that the Golden States.
And now it's a little different though. You know, I
think Golden State is still the front runner to come
out to West, but they don't seem as intimidating as
they haven't just passed. They seem a little more vulnerable
as more than they do in years past. So I think,

(32:28):
you know the narrative these past years as far as
both sides, the East and the West, and what it tells.
I think it's different now, and I'm excited. I'm excited
for the playoffs. I'm excited to see the different storyline
that can come out of the East and also the West.
He is Antonio Daniel's thirteen year NBA veteran NBA champion,
and a TV analysts for the Oklahoma City Thunder with

(32:48):
us here on the Odd Couple Rob Parker Jonas Knox
in for Chris Brussard. Antonio last one for me, describe
the difference between a regular season game in March and
a playoff game in April. You know what, man, that
that is. That's a very good question, and that's a
very difficult question to answer because it's in the ambiance

(33:09):
of the arena. Like I tell players all the time,
you know it's the playoff game the moment you walk
in the arena. I can't like, it's sexual a feeling
that I can't explain that. Obviously, everything is blown up,
everything is bigger, you know. Um, So if you make
a mistake during the playoffs, it's huge. But also if

(33:32):
you're playing well during the playoffs, it's huge. So it's
a it's a feeling that comes along with the playoffs
that is like no other feeling in basketball at the
professional level, no doubt about it. He isn't Tonia daniels
Man always a pleasure, Thank you, bud. All right, appreciate it, fellas.
You'll have a blessed day, all right, you too. All right,
we just found out what Jordan Bell charged to his

(33:55):

thought it was a Sopranos was Yeah, massed. I'm not
up to speed on my own my TV st I'm
I'm not into the modern day stuff, the old show.
This is the only thing that to help me out
with this. Tell me if I'm right or wrong. There

(35:24):
are two famous television arts. Would you agree with that?
Just off the top of them? There are two famous
television arts in the history of television. Ain't b from
the Andy Griffith's Show and aunt Esther from safran Son
you know what I remember? Yeah? And Becky what shows up?

(35:47):
You should probably stay away from this. But she's the
one that scammed USC out of a bunch of I
think you should probably stay away from. Yeah, she's not
as famous as those two, but here's my point, real quick.
She's are the old black people. We get a lot
of stuff wrong. You're the one thing we come on
a second, breaking news, Hold on a second, Oh my god,

(36:08):
you are black. Yes, But the one thing we get
right is it's odd a U n T. It ain't
no ant, no aunt aunt or what you have at
a picnic. We can say it right, it's odd. It's
not an ant b ain't buh? All right? Now, by

(36:30):
the way, Andy Griffith show, you don't I remember it
for and I was teasing you. I remember it always
was on TBS, and it was always like right after
a Braves game, yes wherever? Yeah, for the longest time.
All right, So are you into pranks like when you
stay at hotels? I know what you do at hotels.
You bring clothes that you're getting rid of me in
the hotel, which is just the weirdest fetish I've ever

(36:50):
heard in my life. That Rob brings clothes that he's
getting rid of too on the trip, so he can
just leave him in the room on the trip and
then leave him for the like assuming assuming that the
maid is six four, and then she'll fit in your
you might have a son or nephew that's six four. Yeah,
that's six four. Okay. So so when you go to

(37:13):
a hotel room, you ever prank anybody like order something
to their room or do anything like you know, shenanigans
like that. You and Chris Brussard, you guys ever in Atlanta.
I haven't done anything like that. No, Oh, that's why
that was magic City. Um they were so. Jordan Bell
was suspended for contract conduct detrimental easy for me to say,
by the Golden State Warriors. And apparently what he did

(37:35):
was he purchased a candle. Now is this a a
fourteen or a nineteen dollar candle or fifteen dollar candle?
Over to the game check for fifteen dollar? Can I
guess his game check is a little over nine thousand dollars,
So a fifteen dollar candle he had sent to Mike
Brown's or ordered on Mike Brown's bill, and that is
why he was suspended for one game. Now, before I

(37:57):
knew it was a candle, I thought, what an idiot.
Now that I know it's a candle, that's a smart guy.
Because let me tell you something, I am a candle connoisseur,
Rob Parker. When it comes to candles, I can tell
you when you want to know what a candle is
going to smell like in your house, don't do what
the rookies do. Don't smell the candle. You got to
smell the lid. Okay, you smell the lid, and that's

(38:19):
how you find what it's truly gonna smell like when
it burns. Jordan Bell wanted a candle so bad. Maybe
he thought the guys were gonna be teasing him and
so he put it on somebody else's bell or a bill,
or he thought it was gonna be a funny prank.
Maybe thought Mike Brown was in there with a certain
someone and maybe candle light was the mood that they needed.
But here's the only problem. And I give the Warriors credit.

(38:41):
It's a repeat offense. He's done it before and they
didn't suspend him the first time. So this changes it, Jonas,
doesn't it? Yes, It's it's not like they overreacting to
the first thing. They said, Okay, you know he did
his little prankie, had charged something in the before, but
here he is doing it again and they say enough

(39:01):
is enough. He's not mature. It's the maturity level that
they're that they're coming down. Okay, okay, but he's he's
charging up fifteen dollars to an NBA player or coaches
bill and they're gonna suspend him for it. He's he's
a multiple offender. It's not like he's exposing himself to
win puppets outside car dealerships. He's been charging fifteen dollar
candles on somebody else's bill. They're gonna suspend him for

(39:23):
Here's what I think it is. I think Steve Kerr
wants to show that he's laying the hammer. It's playoff mode.
Get with it, enough with the goofing around, or we're
gonna make an example out of this guy. Unfortunately it's
Jordan Bell and he's not really going to impact whether
or not they want a title. That's what I think. Yeah,
But I also think that there are certain I don't
want to sound like, you know, you're just gonna be

(39:45):
like always picking on little things and does in the
big scheme of things, does that change anything for this team? No?
But if it happened before and they told him don't
do this, you know, for whatever reason, and I guess
this is this is protocol all on the road. So
they said don't do it, and he did it again.
So I think it's a mature I bet you. There's
all the other stuff that he's done that they don't like.

(40:08):
So this was like the last straw. Would you think
of has something to do with that? He? Uh, he
better parlay this into some sort of a sponsorship, like
a candle sponsor candle or something like that. By the way,
who wants to pay twenty eight dollars for a candle? Yeah?
Let me tell you. But you know what, if you
go to like Ross Dress for Last or some of
those other places that you and I frequent, you can
get those candles for half off. So wait a minute.

(40:28):
But if the Yankee candle costs twenty eight dollars, uh,
A fifteen dollars candle isn't a Yankee candle? So he
got like that kind of a no, but it would
it would be like, no, twenty eight dollars for a
Yankee candle. But if you were like one of the
also rans in the league, right, yeah, like the rate
and I'll raise one ninety game, I'm gonna say to
raise like the Miami Wallas, then maybe it would be

(40:49):
only like nine dollars, yes, right, the Yankee car Yeah,
oh there it is everybody, all right? All right? It

It's just not I don't want to be bothered. This

MLB except pip squeak geek virgins like you bumass seamheads. Wow,
okay like that. How do you know? I was a virgin?
I'm unbelievable. All right, So, Rob Parker, as we transition
from the Seam to the NFL, where a report came
out this courtesy of Bleacher Report, that an anonymous executive

(43:24):
in the NFL says that Antonio Brown forcing a trade
out of Pittsburgh is dangerous. Quote. It's a problem other
star players see this and might want to do the same.
He told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN dot Com. I know
the Steelers had a difficult situation and needed to get
rid of him, but they had other options. End quote.

(43:45):
I'm not I'm not here to rip on other people's
reporting style seriously, but I've been a reporter for thirty
three years, and if somebody who not anonymous gum said
that to me a executive, I would say, well, way
before this, I know we're talking about the prisoner of
the moment. Other guys have done this. What is new

(44:06):
about this other than maybe there's a social media element,
But there have been plenty of players who said I'm
not going to play here, I don't want to go there,
who forced their way out of town or forced their
way not in the town. Yeah, here was this new,
Jonas It's it's not new because we can think back.
I can think of three examples off the top of
my head. John Elway did it. In fact, John Elway

(44:26):
threatened to go to a different sport if John Elways
said I'm signing with the Yankees if the Baltimore Colts.
When the Baltimore Baltimore Colts drafted him, John Elways said, okay,
we told you I'm not playing for you and went
and already was making contact with the Yankees to go
and then it was the Denver Broncos who pulled off
the trade, and then he decided to show up. But
John Elway was also saying, I don't want to go

(44:48):
where it's cold. I don't want to do this. I
don't want to do that. Eli Manning and the Manning
family did the same thing. Eli man He was supposed
to go to San Diego and he refused to go play.
Don't draft me, I'm not going didn't want to go,
So he got traded to the New York Giants. And
then Bo Jackson didn't want to play for Tampa Bay.
The Buccaneers were drafting him. He told him I'm not

(45:08):
playing for you. I will go play baseball instead, and
so he did it until the Raiders got his rights,
and then he decided to play both sports. So other
players have exercised their power in this situation. But I
said it at the time when you saw what the
Steelers got back for Antonio Brown, that I knew it
was going to be a problem, and that other executives

(45:28):
around the league, because owners are all in this together,
executives are all in this together, that they were going
to have a problem with it. And I go back
to Tommy Kelly. Tommy Kelly was a defensive tackle for
the Raiders years ago. Was how it worked was and
this is Al Davis and this was sort of one
of the moves the end, one of the move towards

(45:49):
the end where people looked at Al Davis and said,
this guy's losing it. He paid Tommy Kelly way over
what he should have gotten. Well, other executives around the
league were pissed off because now he raise the bar
for interior lineman so high that other guys are just
going to come in and go, well, no, no, look
what Tommy Kelly got. I want that kind of money.
And executives were pissed off about it because they all

(46:11):
look at it like wearing this together. But ultimately you're
thinking about yourself. Antonio Brown's thinking about himself. The Steelers
are trying to get this guy out of their locker room.
It shouldn't be the Steelers problem. That other executives now
are worried about not being able to hander their own
situation with their stars. Unfortunately, this is how it works.
He flexed his power, he got his way, Antonio Brown

(46:34):
won the deal. This is the way it goes. And
remember Jonas, this is all they have the players. The
way it's set up, owners can get rid of you,
downgrade you, tell you, you know what I mean, put
you in a bad spot. It's the same exact thing.
And so if the player all they really have, their
only power is to revolt and push back. And you

(46:56):
know what, sometimes you gotta act stinky to get you know,
sent away. Yeah, you do. Because if I go into
you and just say I don't want to be here
or whatever, then you could give me this whole thing. Well, no,
you sign a contractor here or whatever. No, I'm telling
you I don't really want to be here, and don't
make me have to act a certain way to get

(47:17):
your attention. And sometimes it's the only way to get
somebody's attention. And look, you remember that the shop that
Lebron James, that crummy TV show they had on HBO
the shop and he got Antonio and he got Antonio
Brown on there and he's there and who's there, Anthony
Davis and Lebron James. You don't think him sitting around

(47:37):
Anthony Davis and Lebron James. Antonio Brown's going, well, how
did they play this? Oh, they just came out publicly
and said I don't want to be here anymore. And
they were just a giant paint in the ass about it,
or they just left like that. So he's looking at
these NBA players and seeing how they handled it. And
so the Steelers, yes, they probably got the short end
of that deal, but Pittsburgh had to move him. He

(47:59):
made it such ane that it was no longer. And
so when this executive says anonymously they had other options,
what options were those? They didn't I'm with you, there
were no other options. Once a guy doesn't want to
be there and he's ripping on the coach and the
quarterback and the organization, that's what was it. That was it.

(48:19):
There are no other options. If a guy makes that
much of a stink and it's a problem, you've got
to get rid of him. And it sucks. Maybe you
didn't get what you thought you were going to get,
but this is just the way that it goes. No
negotiation ever goes one hundred percent smoothly because everybody wants
something and it's different. You never walk into a room
and say, so, what are you thinking. I'm thinking this much.

(48:40):
I am too. That's never how negotiations work. It's why
you always like arbitration. Um. I have a friend of
mine whose brother plays in Major League Baseball, won a
World Series, really successful guy, been an All Star, right.
I remember talking to them and they were saying that
he was considering bringing his wife to his arbitration. Hearing,

(49:04):
I was like, don't do it. Yeah, listen, it is
not That's why they really don't want. Like, in order
for the owners and that management side to get what
they want, they gotta basically tell you. They got to
tell you everything. They're gonna tell you everything that's wrong
with you. You remember Derek Jeter's final contract with the Yankees.

(49:26):
That was bad, That was really content. It was bad.
And it's funny because we have Bob Clappitch who just
wrote a book about the Yankees. It was bad and
it was not good, and Jeter didn't understand it that,
you know, as great as he was, you're trying to
win a case so that it wouldn't be you know
what I mean, you're trying trying to put out there

(49:48):
so that it's not what you want. We're trying to
tell you why we're not paying you what you want.
Jeter felt like he was having to resell himself to
the organization after all that he had done for the
organization and Brian Cashman and then we're like, yeah, but listen, man,
this is what we're thinking long term. This is how
it works. And ultimately he got his money, but it
was way past, you know, Jeter's prime, and his final

(50:09):
years weren't what previous years have been. Of course, Hill
take less money. Yeah, so this happens. There's a give
and take. Like negotiations are never friendly, they're they're never nice.
It's very rare that you'd see a team and oh yeah,
we're all totally happy with the deal. And so this
is one that was made public. This is one that
got ugly, and I don't think other executives around the

(50:30):
NFL should just you know, I can understand why they're
being pissed off, but man, worry about your own team.
But it's not the Steelers problem. To try and make
sure that you're good in the future. If they're getting
screwed by Antonio Brown And wouldn't it have been And
I'm just saying this, what would be that that anonymous
gem's response if you said, this has happened before, if
we if he brought up if I would have said, okay,

(50:50):
say says, oh, this is a dangerous president, and here
we are, this is scary dude. Other than the social
media being a new component, this has been done. And
I would have said, well, what about John Elway or
Eli Manning. That would have been a first things out
in my mouth. And then what would his response to be.
And if there's an organization that I wouldn't question how
they run things, it's an organization that's had three coaches

(51:12):
and like a hundred years, right, I mean, think about
how many coaches get turned and burned in this league.
You either get one year or two years, whether you're
Steve Wilkes, Cam Cameron, whoever the hell It is a
rich co type remember rich co tight in New York
like teams turn and burn coaches. Think whoever your favorite
team is right now, how many coaches you've had in
just the last twenty years. Majority you have had five

(51:32):
or six or four or five? The Steelers have had
three and what a hundred years or something like that.
It's crazy, it is. That's an organization that has run
really well. This one got away from him. You shouldn't
have an anonymous executive say I think they should have
done this. Get out of here, put your name on it,
and tell us what organization you represent. We can find
all the flaws with them if we wanted to, no

(51:52):
doubt about it. Eight seven seven ninety nine, eight seven
seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Is that it? Yeah? Yeah,
I'm gonna try to give away in my cell number.
How many times have you given out your cell number?
If so, if you would like to reach Rob Parker No.

(52:13):
Seven seven nine nine six six three six nine, you
can send a graphic text to Rob Parker at eight
seven seven nine nine six six three six nine. But
if you're a football fan or a fan of a team,
do you think players shouldn't have the right Like if
I request to be moved because I don't want to
be here anymore, and you're not going to listen to
what I'm trying to tell you, and I get it.

(52:33):
You know, you signed a deal and but sometimes it's
just like you get married, people get divorced, it's not
working out, and some people you just decide, you know,
you wake up that one day. God knows, I did
you wake up that one day and you say I'm done.
I think something. I'm done. So she's not listening. No, no,

(52:55):
So do you have a problem with players, like players
shouldn't have power, yet they should have power. Yeah, And
I think everybody should control their own destiny in a
circumstance that's not working for them if it's working for you.
And Antonio Brown had six of the greatest wide receiver
years ever put together right in Pittsburgh. Yeah, and just
the idea that it's the Steeler's duty to make sure

(53:17):
that they represent the rest of the league. And don't
let this guy get away and man, don't reward him,
don't let him act foul, and reward him and give
him what he wants. That's what they're saying. Look, the
Steelers look at it like this. The Steelers look at
it like that. What the hell was that? Right? Everybody
started bobbing their head. I'm like, what the hell song
is this? The Steelers have been a well run organization

(53:41):
for a long time. If you're going to judge him
on this one incident and this one time it got
away from him. That's ridiculous. This is going to continue
to happen. And you want to know why this is
going to happen again in the NFL, because it's happened before. Okay,
this is not a new thing, and it's ridiculous. And
an anonymous exect comes out there and puts the pressure
on Pittsburgh like they botch the deal. All right, let's
hear from you eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox

(54:03):
It is The Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio one
this saw TV theme song Thursday. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and
Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. At
Farmers Insurance, we know every windshield collision has a unique
sound beatle bird boop drone seen it covered it? Doctor Farmers.

(54:29):
We are farmers under written my Farmers truck Fire Insurance
exchanges and affiliates products unavailable every state. Here you go,
Jonas Jefferson's Wow, do you notice saying that Jeffersons, what
show is this? The one? Jonas thought the other one was,
oh sopranos, Oh is this it? Yeah? I didn't even

(54:51):
realize they had a theme song. How you thought Andy
Griffith was this? I thought I was kidding, man, Okay,
TB Braves Games, Andy Grivs Show, and WCW Wrestling. That's
what I remember about TBS, and all the star times
were five after you remember that it was five oh five.
It was very weird. Ted Turner did that, We're the

(55:12):
odd couple. This is Fox Sports Radio. He is Rob Parker.
I'm Jonas Knox in for Chris Broussard. Coming up in
ten minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio. We
are going to ask one of the best in the
business for a sneaky pick this season. All right, so
make sure you stick around that one of the best
in the business a sneaky pick this upcoming season ten

(55:34):
minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio. But Rob,
we were talking about this anonymous GM or executive in
the NFL that came out and talking with ESPN dot
Com and Jeremy Fowler and said that the Steelers could
have gotten more for Antonio Brown, basically concerned that now
you're giving star players too much power by by letting

(55:55):
this happen now, it's going to lead to this happening
more and more. And our point was this has happened
before in the NFL. There are people who have cloud
you know what I mean? Like everybody can't do it,
everybody can't force their way out of town. But there
are some star players or people in those position, top
picks or the number one pick who can force their ways.

(56:16):
We've seen it. It's not new, No, not new at all.
Mark is in Sacramento listening here on Fox Sports Tradio.
Mark and Sacramento, Mark. What's happening? Uh? Market to Markramento,
Mark and Sacramento. Let's go to market hey real quick.
I especially the sports of football because the protect they

(56:40):
signed and they suck these numbers ten years on hundred millions.
How many of these guys they don't get at all,
They don't write, they don't get there retired and the
order can trade you anytime. Cuts you anime asked you
for pay cut to stay on the team even though

(57:03):
you have a contract, to give them a fun code
home team discount for owners who like twelve billion dollars
a year annually. Why would you do that? So I
like the NFL play finally realize, like you say, Bob,
everybody can't do it, but if you got some power,

(57:24):
use it because owners have always had the power. So yeah,
Oily in football and lie and we appreciate the call mark.
And here's the other one. And this just goes to
show how uneducated people are when it comes to NFL contracts.
When laby On Bell signed his deal with the Jets,
there were people out there mocking Leby. Yes, they were saying,
oh my god, he got this job. He could have

(57:46):
had seventy million from the Steelers. No, that's all a
bunch of crap. That's that is a bunch of crap.
Anybody that told you he had more money guaranteed from
the Steelers is lying. They offer himony like seventeen million guaranteed.
It was, yes, seventeen million guarantee, but everyone fell in
love with the five years seventy million, which he was
never gonna see. It was seventeen million guaranteed by the

(58:06):
Pittsburgh Steelers and the next year for the New York Jets.
He ended up signing for thirty in between thirty and
thirty five million guarantee. Absolutely, he almost doubled his guaranteed
dollar amount. So you can sit there and say, well,
he's an idiot, and he had more money on the table.
He did not. There was more money on the table.
He was never going to see Leveon Bell gotten more.

(58:27):
Leveon Bell did better for himself by holding out, and
he saved his body where he could have gotten hurt
and not even gotten that one hundred percent. And Antonio
Brown got a better contract and a better deal with
the Raiders. Look, the Antonio Brown had no guaranteed money
left on his contract none. So hey, can you cannot
like it if you're a fan, and you can say,
oh you can, and executives cannot like it all they want.

(58:50):
But those two guys took the gamble. They put themselves
out there. There was a lot of pushback on it.
Leveon Bell was mocked, his teammates raided his locker, and
it paid all form So sorry, Age seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox The flash is in La listening here
on Fox Sports? Trade? Is this the flash from the
Braves Games? Who like chase people down in the outfield?

(59:12):
Same guy? Oh no, no, no, all right? The flash?
What you got? Well, I just think that if two
parties sign a contract, they should both uphold it. If
it's three years, you stay three years. You don't see
the owners doing, Oh this guy's sex. You got hurt,
We're not gonna pay the guarantee money. Dude. They let
they let people go all the time when they get hurt.
I don't know. They flash what what what world are

(59:33):
you living in? People? They have I lived. I make
one hundred thousand dollars year work my ass off. No,
but you can't. You can't base your world on what
other guys are doing and lead based on a professional
sports league. I don't know what you do for a living,
but there's only four hundred NBA players in the entire country.
It's a very specialized situation. I worked. I worked for

(59:58):
a national company. But I work hard, fifty or sixty
hours a week. And some of these guys gonna work
for our company when they're done. No, I get it.
But but you you you don't think that people should
have uh some power when they when they have it,
everybody doesn't have it. No, I understand that. But if
you sign a contract, okay, the donor is guaranteeing the money,
you should guarantee to be there for the three years

(01:00:19):
or whatever it is of your contract. Then I don't
agree with the franchise tag. Okay, right, but that that
that's an issue, right because it's not fair. Would you
agree with that? Yeah, okay, all right, Flash, we appreciate
your thanks. Look Um, but what the hell's the flash? Flash?
What is that? Is that? A point is that it

(01:00:40):
wasn't the flash? The name the name of one of
the dancers at Magic City? Is that? Oh? Yeah, the flash?
Is that one of the name of one of the dancers? Um,
that's what that big daddy? Yeah, the couple is large
down low really not today. I can I get to
show you. Listen, you can't. You can't do the whole

(01:01:01):
I work at this job. I shouldn't do that. It's
not an apples to Apple's comparison. I'm sorry. Look, I'd
love to do it. I'd love to have the opportunity
to be put on the franchise tag and make fourteen
million dollars a year like Levon Bell. But guess what,
I'm not a good athlete like he is, so I'm
not gonna That's not happening for me. So you deal
with what you're working with. Congratulations. He has one hundred

(01:01:22):
thousand dollars a year job. That's better than majority of America.
The fact that he's bragging about it on national radio
probably put some people off, But then we're not gonna
judge the flash for that, and Jonas, I'll say the
same thing. I'm all about education, Okay, I have a
master's degree, I started my pH d and n y
I'm about education. Wow, And I think teachers should get
paid more. Yeah, but until you're selling tickets to watch

(01:01:45):
teachers teach and putting their teaching sessions on television, you can't, right,
you know, look at them and compare the two, is
all I'm saying. Yeah, I get it. You can't. You
can't put them on the same level. And that's what
people try to do all the time. It's totally different.
This is such a unique situation with sports because he's
dealing with television and television revenue. That's that's that's what

(01:02:09):
changed the difference with baseball. Players used to have second
jobs in the offseason. They didn't have television money. Why
did the Atlanta Falcons start charging charging a dollar for
dogs two dollars for hard toime? I think it got
bumped down to like a buck fifty. Why why did
the Falcons do that? Was it to give back to
fans or is it because they don't really need that
extra money because all the TV money they get, they

(01:02:31):
don't they don't need an eight dollars soda. Come on,
if somebody's given you something, it's because they can afford
to part with it, exactly. Like that's just the reality
we've got. Luis is in Las Vegas here on Fox
Sports Trading. Luise, what's going on? Hey, what's up, gentlemen?
I'm all about it. How you guys doing it? Doing great? Hey?
Thanks for taking my call. You know, it's a it's
a double edged sword, but you have to look at

(01:02:52):
it and the stands that individuals are going to try
to do what they can. You know, everybody knows the
running back pocision is the shortest positions span when it
comes to playing in the NFL. And you know, Levion
Bill didn't right, And the truth is, there's only a
handful of players in the NFL that can do that,
you know, in AJ Green and Antonio Brown, you know,
maybe Mike Havans and Tampa and so on. So there's

(01:03:13):
not a lot of players, and these players that are
doing that, are you know, trying to make something better
for the future. I'm hoping to you know, next collective
Martin Nick agreement. You know, they got to look at
you know, the franchise tag and how these contracts are negotiating,
you know, try to get these players a better percentage
of guarantees for them to you know, make that career longer,
make sure they get taken care of, are actually played,

(01:03:34):
acquoringly to what they can do and how they can
move about it. You know. So no, no, louis no
doubt about it. I mean, you just gotta protect yourself
and be willing to stand up once in a while
for yourself when you feel like you're being treated, uh
not failing. Hey. And you know what, who would have
thought Levion Bell and Antonio Brown would be the guys
who would be a couple of the first guys who

(01:03:55):
actually put their money where their mouth is and said,
you know what, we don't like how this is all working,
whether it's here in Pittsburgh or whether it's in the NFL,
We're going to put our foot down. They did it,
and they got they got paid for it. So both
of them got to move. I want to let you
know the odd couple is brought to you by Truecar.

violent man in sports talk Wow. Thank you very much, Jonas.

breaking news. The Eagles have acquired Chicago Bears running back
Jordan Howard, getting him for a conditional twenty draft pick. Meanwhile,

and Ken Rosenthal. Thanks Ralph. We are the odd couple
here on Fox Sports Radio. You can check out the
show on the iHeart Radio app coming up in about
fifteen minutes from now. Rob Parker a little shop talk. Yes,
she loved to go into the barbershop and talk about

(01:06:31):
stuff that we you know, outside the world of sports,
stuff that we like to talk about. Yes, but we
mentioned he's one of the best in the business, no
doubt about it. One of the best for sure. You
see his stuff on the Athletic He's also an MLBON
Fox reporter and his name is Ken Rosenthal. Joining us
now here on Fox Sports Radio. Ken, Jonas and Rob Parker.

(01:06:52):
We appreciate it, man. How's you going, Rob? What's going on? Man?
What's happening? How you doing? Do well? Do well? Happy
opening day? And you know, so much stuff to talk about.
Let's dive into it right away. What were you What
did you make about the Phillies And obviously how crazy
they are about Bryce Harper and then of course they

(01:07:12):
would boo him in his second at bat and when
he struck out some Philly fans. What would your take
on what happened in Philadelphia? They had a great day
and he didn't contribute really just did walk that before
the Grand Slam by Hoskins. But they showed a lot today.
Their offense one to eight in the lineup was really good.
Mike cal Franco had the home run. They did some

(01:07:35):
really good things. Now he saw him take the bow
and right field. He's a guy that the fans are
going to love if he plays well. You gotta think,
because he's Bryce Harper, he's going to play well more
often than not. But Rob, you know that town, I
know that. Oh yeah, it's the toughest town in demanding. Yes,
it's demanding, and they'll love him the harder than anyone else,

(01:07:58):
and they'll hate him harder than anyone else. Does that
makes any sense? You know what I'm saying. Their passion
is such that it can go either way, and I'm
sure times will go both ways. But I'll bank on
the player. He's a pretty good player. Ken Rosenthal with
us here on Fox Sports Radio. Ken, We've seen this
before in baseball, to where a guy signs a big
time deal, and then there's a lot of pressure early
on to go out and perform and do well because

(01:08:20):
of all the money that he's been paid. Of the
guys who got the big money contracts, Mike Trout, Bryce Harper,
Manny Machado, which one could you see struggling feeling the
pressure that big money contract. Well, the players who stay
with their original teams, like Trout and Arronado, it's a
different circumstance because they're not going to a new place

(01:08:41):
with something to prove. The organization knows them, the fans
know them. That pressure, while it exists, certainly whenever you
sign a big deal, it's not the same. It's just
not so for Harper and Machado. The likelihood or the
possibility I should say that they will press Yes, that
is a possibility. But Chattoo doesn't have a great offensive

(01:09:02):
day today either. But this is one game, and ultimately,
over the course of one hundred and sixty two they're
both going to figure it out. But to say that
the contracts and the new circumstances maybe more than anything,
don't affective guys, that's not the case. It does affect them.
It's just a matter of how they handle it. Ken,
Today the Yankees opened up. They win seven to two,

(01:09:24):
and Luke Voit again big home run for the Yankees.
You have to get four RBI. Tell me about that
lineup is another one up. The Yankees started with Judge
and Stanton batting one two and I think Voit was
batting clean up. That Yankee lineup looks like it's potent,

(01:09:44):
right And they're missing Aaron Hicks right now, and they'll
be even better when he gets back, of course, but
with Voit and Bird having a good spring, and they've
always been high on him, they have two really good
options at first base. Ultimately Deedy comes back, they've got
two a risky film in his spot. For now. They're deep,
They're really good, and I expect them to be one

(01:10:05):
of the formidable teams in the American League, probably a
final four team going to the American League Championship Series,
barring anything unforeseen. Right, So what we saw today is
kind of an indication of how potent they could be,
because like the Philly their biggest superstars, they're best power hitters.
We're not the guy that carried the day. It was

(01:10:26):
voiced Ken Rosenthal with us here Fox MLB reporter also
with the athletic joining us here on Fox Sports Radio.
It is the odd couple, Rob Parker Jonas Knox in
for Chris Brussard Ken. Is there a team? Because Rob
always wants to talk about the big teams Yankees, Dodgers.
I mean he has no love for the big because

(01:10:47):
he's big time. I'm more of a lunch pale to
work kind of guy, bring your hard hat to work.
Is there a team outside of the big names, the
big franchises that you look at and go that's going
to be a happy fan base at the end of
the year. This is always the question that we ask
every spring and every season that when we begin, all right,

(01:11:08):
who's going to be the surprise? And it's a great
question because there always is a surprise, or maybe multiple surprises.
A lot of people like Minnesota because they've done a
lot to their offense in the off season. Cleveland looks
suddenly vulnerable in some respects though Klueber was excellent today,
I would say that's the team for me. But the
National League is so closely knit or closely bound, that

(01:11:34):
we could see a surprise there. And I'm not saying
Pittsburgh will be that team, but they have a good rotation.
Somebody in that league is going to be better than
we think. And I'm not sure which team it is yet,
But because it's so competitive, especially in the Central in
the East, we might see something unusual. Maybe it's the Mets.
Who knows. Now what about now? Speaking of National League,

(01:11:56):
I don't I'm not picking a Dodge to get to
the World Series because they went two years in a row,
and I know how hard it is to do that.
Let Alane make it three years in a row. But
but Ken, I mean I had to take notice. I
was at Dodgers Stadium today and eight home runs through
them for seven innings. They have eight home runs in
the opener against the Diamondbacks. Where do you where do

(01:12:17):
you take the Dodgers? I mean, they are they that good?
Are they going back to the World Series? I expect
them to win the West? But how good is that
Dodger team? They're very good and today I don't know.
Opening Day, it's hard to judge and know exactly where
it's going to end up. Opening Day is a time

(01:12:38):
when people form impressions and say, wow, look at the Dodgers.
Now it's one game, but The Dodgers are very good people.
Forget Seager is back. He is a huge part of
what you do, and he's a power hitting shortstop. He
didn't help them an awful lot, and b Kershaw is questionable.
They've got depth in their story rotation, They've got depth
in their bullpen. This is a welcome, instructive team, just

(01:13:01):
as it has been the last several years. So I
do expect that they're going to be the NS champion.
I do expect also that they're going to be a
team that has a chance to go back to the
World Series maybe even what hey, ken Um, why are
Dallas Kigel and Craig Kimberrell not signed? Jonas? This is

(01:13:22):
the question of the hour in Major League Baseball, and
I felt like I felt like kind of a dummy
for asking that because I got it figured out. No,
first of all, it is not a dumb question. It
is a natural question. What the heck is going on?
Why aren't these guys signed? The obvious answer is no

(01:13:43):
team has met their financial desires. Then the question becomes, Okay,
what are their financial desires? We don't know. Are they
too high? At this point, it's probably safe to assume
that at least at one point this offseason they were
too high, and we've heard various reports on what they
asked for. Who knows how true they are. So it's

(01:14:04):
kind of a cat and mouse game. And at this
point it's very odd because even if they signed tomorrow,
one of them signed tomorrow, both of them, it's going
to take a couple of weeks to get in game shape.
I know Kaiko has been working out, and I'm sure
Kimball has too, but it's stuck going to happen right away.
So we're talking maybe the end of April or towards

(01:14:24):
the end of April. And there's another possibility here that
one or both of them wait until the June draft,
because after the June draft you don't have to you
don't lose a draft pick for signing them, and now
you do. But that is counterproductive too, because you missed
almost half the year, you're far behind. You can't really
re establish yourself so easily. I don't know where this goes.

(01:14:47):
I've been scratching my head trying to figure it out,
really for four or five months now, and I still
don't have an answer. Ken last thing today, the Orioles
play the Yankees, and there was no Buckshell Walter, of course,
who It's done in Baltimore, And I just thought to myself,
are we done with seeing guys like Buck Show Walter,
who I must say, you know, the old school managers?

(01:15:09):
It just seems like him, Joe Girardi, Mike Sosha. I
could go through a list of you know guys, who
was Dusty Baker? All the old school guys are They're
all done? Are We're not ever going to see those
guys again? I don't know that ever or never is
the right way to put it, because there's always a chance.

(01:15:30):
And Girardi looms right now is an obvious choice for
any team that wants to hire a manager in season
if they're frustrated, that's who they have. But all of
the guys you just needed, Robbie called them old school.
Probably the more accurate way to put it, so they
certainly are old school, is to say big money. And
what we've seen over the last two years, a team

(01:15:53):
is preferring younger managers who connect with players in their
mind in a better way than some of these older
guys do. But every one of them is cheaper, and
that's the trend. We're seeing that teams prefer younger, cheaper managers,
and that's the direction. So a guy like Joe Madden
six billion dollars manager. Yeah, he's done a great job

(01:16:14):
of the Cup, deserves his money. But ultimately the Cubs
might say, at the end of the season, except that
they were in the World Series, you know what, Joe,
We're going to go to another direction. We just don't
want to pay that anymore. So here we have an
eleven billion dollar industry who want to pay managers with
food stamps? Is that what we are? I'm not saying
I'm not saying you're raw ropy, I'm saying that's where

(01:16:34):
we are, all right. It's an eleven billion dollar dollar
industry perhaps all right, because they do things like this unbelievable.
It's crazy. Hey, Ken, always a pleasure. Thanks Ken, We
appreciate it. Ken Rosenthal, Fox MLB reporter. You can get
him on Twitter at can Underscore Rosenthal. Always a fantastic following,
Always a good interview as well, Ken, Thanks so much.

with us here on FSR. Len, where are you calling from?
And what the hell do you want to talk about? Lenn?
Come on, spit it out, gentlemen. I am all the

(01:18:25):
New Jersey Turnpike and I just came home from I'm
all my way home from the Phillies. I'm open electrifying
day in Philadelphia. I've been waiting really since twenty twelve
for this. Hey you know what, and it came across
on television. I mean, people were jacked in Philadelphia, no
doubt about it. I have to tell you I've seen
something I've never seen, and I've been going for years.

(01:18:47):
I'm going to just about every opening day since eighty eight.
And I know you want to talk about the little
tiny bit of booing there was, Well, what you're not
talking about was his first st at bat. He grounded
out and got a standing over. I have never seen that.
I mean, there's so much love for him, and I
have to say he has said all the right things
the last few weeks leading up to this, to run

(01:19:09):
out to right field to give about a pump this fist.
I've never seen that. Either you don't see baseball players
pumping up the crowd once the last time he's on
an outfield or do that. No, don't know. I'm telling
you he has done all the right things. And the
Philly fans have responded, Len, I'm gonna ask you a question.
I want you to be honest. Okay, just between us,
all right, nobody, nobody's listening. Just between us. Were you

(01:19:31):
the guy who ate horse crap off the ground after
the Super Bowl? Oh? Sure, one guy, pump the horse
and all of us are all right. And thanks for
the calling the update from the Phillies opener. Yeah, time
for yeah, good time for this shop talk. Nobody has
never been a bomb shop you know that. Ain't nobody

(01:19:52):
you would talk about whoever it would, whatever you want
to it, the bo It's shop talk, all right, shop talk.
Let's get to it now, Rob, walk me through this.
How does this work? Because there's there's a subject matter
here that we need to discuss. Um, how do we
how do you want to get into this? What kind
of food? Do you like to eat at the ballparks?

(01:20:14):
And simply put yes, because a lot of stadiums are
going way too over the top of some of these
menu items. It like vegan now at the ballpark. I
don't believe there's a lot of that. I look, I'm
a hot dog, nachos and a beer kind of guy.
I had them good with that, you know what. I
went to Dodger Stadium. I had to see see uh,
seaweeds sandwich and some fries. It was good. A seaweeds

(01:20:38):
that's right by the way you ever be when you
bought it. Have you ever been to an eighteen tea
park or it used to be eighteen here where the
Giants play. Yeah, everyone's talking about those garlic fries are
the best in the world I've heard of. Disgusting, all right, disgusting,
I do. I do love a good dog and it's
got to be one hundred percent beef, and I do
like a dog at the at the ballpark. That's one

(01:20:59):
of my favorites, Kevin, what about you? I said it
yesterday at Angel Stadium to have a giant viking like
Turkey leg you see him at the fair as well.
I love those and uh so that's my go to
at Angel Stadium, a turkey leg at a ball but
turkey leg. Hey, Alex, what about you now? You're you're
the you're the health conscious. So you liked it. There

(01:21:21):
are other options for you now when you go to
the ball pine ticket and I like it that there's
other stuff for other people too that they might have
never known about other than seeing it at these locations. Now.
So for me, I'm simple. Just give me a bag
of pistachios. I'm good the whole day. Is that it? Yeah,
that's it. I'm simple. Hey Ralph is he chimed in, Ralph, Yeah,
I'm about you at the Bay at the ballpark? What
kind of stuff I go with? What Jonah says? But

(01:21:43):
I also got to say that I've never been to
a bar park that didn't have a line for the
helmet Sunday. Oh yeah, those little mini helmets to come
with the Sundays. Yeah, that's the fourteen dollars ice cream. Yeah,
the fourteen dollars. But you get one of those hats
that doesn't fit anybody, right, It's like they give you
this helmet, They're like, yeah it's fourteen boxman, you get
ice cream. You getta keep the hat okay cool, but
I'm not beatlejuice, so it's not gonna fit. It's not

(01:22:04):

quote Rob Parker and Yes, Jonas Knox in for Chris Brussari.
I need to bring Jonas now. We do need We
need Jonas. He is our go to guy. One. Of course,
Chris or myself is out, and so Chris is out

(01:22:52):
and Jonas will be here today and tomorrow. Why do
you think Chris is out of alve days? Why would
today be there? No, it couldn't handle it, couldn't stomach
it because he knows how geeky I am about Baseball
Opening Day. Yes, yeah, I cracked a joke earlier in
the show about how boring baseball was and rob hold
a switchblade on. That's right. No talk about the national

(01:23:14):
pasttime and the sport that sells up seventy three million
tickets every year across this great United States. Now, yes,
Opening Day all over, big names, people looking in great weather.
For most parts of the country, it was I was
out at the Dodgers Stadium where you had the duck

(01:23:37):
because of the objects flying into the stands. Dodgers hit
eight home runs against the Arizona Diamondbacks. How much were
your tickets? I don't have ticket. Oh that's right, I
have a baseball writer's pass. And home runs are flying
out in Seattle. I mean the Mariners are bludgeoning the
Boston Red Sox balls juiced. It's eight to two Seattle,

(01:24:00):
the balls juiced. They're doing this to try and increase,
increase the game, and they want home runs. You know what,
sale got bombs. You might have to drop them. You know,
it's just one's fantasy baseball. Come on, man, that's too long,
too long fantasy baseball? Can I can I give you
my U the whole one call of the of the
of the day. Sure are we ready with this one?

(01:24:23):
To Detroit? No? No, No, The whole do we have
the whole piece? Here we go and cashing her deal.
Swing on driven to deep centerfield. That goes Moans away
back on the track at the wall Cheese Garn parkall
like that. In the first inning, cool hand Luke fills

(01:24:44):
the Voitus Vos one to Detroit. He is a three
run blasted dead center on the Yankees take out three
nothing league HSS one to the truck cornball he's got.
He's got to get a new a new pick. That's
John Sterling. You didn't like that? He man, how long

(01:25:05):
does it take him to come up with that crap?
We could go pick out you know, we should know here,
here's what we should do. We should do an assignment
before the end of the show. We should find somebody
in the pitching stabb well, look through the roster the
pitching staff, because he's already at all the other position players,
he's already taken their home run call. All right, and
let's try and find a home run call for one

(01:25:25):
of the pitchers. Since they don't get to hit a lot,
and so each of us has to come up with
a home run call for one pitch. That would be hard, right,
They don't hit the American League. Let's just say, yeah,
Tanaka taka no tanaka. Oh blast Tanaka, blast Tanaka, get
yourself some bacca. So no, I was gonna make it.

(01:25:47):
I shouldn't make any jokes about season mat don't do that. No,
I don't want to do that. But I want to
try to rob this Chapman. What the other big story was,
of course, you know Bryce Harper made his debut in
Philadelphia and it was loud and ruckus. I mean, you
know Philadelphia, that's a great sports town, but they're very demanding.

(01:26:10):
And there were some boots from him after you struck
out his second time today. And look, if you're a
team in the NL and the Phillies come to your town,
Bryce Harper is gonna bring Philadelphia fans out to the ballpark. Yes,
I can tell you this. You want to go to
There's a reason why I've always seen more Cubs Versus

(01:26:31):
Dodger series here in LA during the week because the
Dodgers can draw on the weekends. That's when people are
off work. They're gonna go to the ballpark. But when
do you want to bring in that crowd during the week.
It's why they come up with things at bars like
Taco Tuesday Happy Hour. It's to try and bring people
in during the week when business is slow. Schedule the
Cubs or schedule the Phillies during the week at Dodger Stadium.

(01:26:52):
That place is going to be full because Cub fans
are coming out to see their team, and now Philly
fans are going to come out to see their team,
and now Dodger fans are going. I want to see
Bryce Harper in a Phillies uniform. I can remember when
Ken Griffy Junior, before interleague play, went to the Reds.
I had never seen Ken Griffy play before in my life.
Why do you want to see a Reds fan? But
do you want to see him live? I wasn't a

(01:27:13):
Reds fan. I wasn't a Dodger fan. I grew up
in LA and we got bleacher seats for like seven
dollars or whatever it was, and we sat in the
bleachers when it was general mission, and we sat behind
Ken Griffey Junior, just because we wanted to see this
guy who we had never gotten an opportunity to see
because he was always in the American League. And it
was great. It was fun to go out there and

(01:27:34):
see those players and now today when we talk about
Jonas Opening Day, it has a special thing. It's more
than just a ball game. Some people called up earlier
in the program said it should be a national holiday.
I think there's it's it's about along with baseball coming
back and the unofficial start of spring, right. Yes. And

(01:27:54):
it also one of those things where I think people
get it. It's like a moment in life. You get
to spend time with people, you go, you have these memories.
Oh yeah, I remember the first time I went to
Open a Day with my dad and my uncle and
my brothers. Do you know what I mean? There's more
of that than just a just a ball game, the

(01:28:14):
first ball game of the year. It's also I think
people associate, you know. They always say a smell will
bring back where you were, Like, if you smell something,
it'll take you back, no matter what it is. I mean,
if a woman wears a certain perfume, the next time
you smell that perfume, I don't care if it's on
a dead dog, and remember, it'll take you back to
where you were the moment you first smelled that and

(01:28:36):
where you smell it from. Like it's I think with baseball.
It does bring people back to oh yeah, springs coming.
Oh yeah, it's this. It's just kind of a friendly
reminder each year. It's like in football when you start
to see you associate football in the fall with the
leaves turning brown and you and you start to associate things.
And then I do think there's something too, just the

(01:28:58):
pace of it all. You're the tournament games going on
right now. I mean, it's craziness. People are upping down,
and the NFL's nuts and the NBA's nuts, and you're
watching this stuff and then all of a sudden, here
comes baseball and it's smooth and it's soothing and it's
not all in your face all the time, and it's
not so intense and it's relaxing. It's like the Masters
when the Masters comes up. The best thing the Masters

(01:29:20):
has going for it is when it comes up, because
it comes up every year in April. And it's just
something about watching it on TV and the Sun That
music sucks, but some about this on TV The Sun Augusta, Georgia,
even though outside Augusta National to dump You ever been
to Augusta? Man? Wow, you talking about the the the

(01:29:41):
amazing work by TV producers saying, you get out of it.
You're looking around and going, oh my god, I'm not
safe here. This is not a good place to be. Yeah, no,
I'm not out there. You didn't, um, But I just
think that's something that you're talking about time talking about
a Perkins Perkins cracker barrel. But yes, but yeah it is.

(01:30:05):
And you're growing up Here's here's what I think. Also,
you're growing up on the East Coast when winners are brutal,
brutal and you can't wait for the first time of
spring and go into the ballpark, is what it's about.
And when you actually see how certain parts of the
country live and experienced sports. Like I always grew up
out here in LA in southern California, but when I

(01:30:28):
lived for a short time in South Carolina, I didn't
get college football and why early September was such a
big deal until I got out there and it was like, man,
this is a whole nether experience, this is a this
is their thing. So I think on the East Coast
and in cold weather cities, when baseball comes around, it's like,
all right, the worst part of the year is over well,

(01:30:49):
and now we just go to the ballpark and we
hang out in summers right around the corner, no doubt
about it. And it's also the best quality time I
think you could spend with somebody when you just go
out to hang out, I could talk, I can catch
up with you. I love doing it. My best friend
Fred is in town right and we got planned for
the weekend. We're going to two ball games we got
we got We're going to the Lakers Hornets Friday, but

(01:31:12):
we're going down to San Diego Padres Giants and then
we're gonna go to Dodgers and the Diamondbacks. But we
have scheduled. We love every time we do get together.
And he lives in another state, we always go to
baseball games. It's a way of we live. In our youth.
We used to play baseball together. He played short, I

(01:31:32):
played third. But it was also to spend time catch up.
It's just a perfect opportunity to spend time with somebody. Now,
does he know that you actually only have one ticket
or you're gonna tell him it's too so that he
drives you to this stadium and then you go, oh
my god, things unbelievable. And now that way you got
a free ride. Does I wouldn't do that to him.
I wouldn't, but uh eight seven seven ninety nine on

(01:31:55):
Fox eight seven seven nine nine six six three six nine.
I just wonder, because of my love affair with baseball
and being my favorite sport, do you feel the same
way when it's opening days or other big days in sports?
And what I'll say is, like the Final Four, like

(01:32:16):
the the the championship game, or opening day of the
NBA or opening day of the NFL, I'm not sure
if it has the same feel that the baseball opening day. Now,
maybe it's just me because I'm such a baseball fan,
but I'm a sports fan as well. I told you
it brings back seasons for me. So when I think
about the Final Four, I always think you grew up

(01:32:38):
in Chicago, so you know what opening days? Well, No,
I had my family's from Illinois. I grew up in
southern California. But I've been to Illinois and Chicago a
million times, so I've been out there. It brings up
like when I think of the Final Four, I think
Easter weekend. For some reason, I just always picture Easter
weekend and that's when the Final Four was because you
had the two games on Saturday, then you had Easter Sunday,

(01:33:00):
and then the National Championship on Monday, and so you
just sort of associate things with what you grew up
on or what you remember them for. And so look,
growing up a Cubs fan in southern California, you know,
we couldn't afford to go out to Chicago for Opening
Day any of that stuff, So what will we do.
We'd make Chicago dogs or Chicago sausage and grill it

(01:33:22):
and then we'd have you know, Chicago beers and hang
out and watch the Cubs like that was always something
that we would do and it was fun. It's just
and it gives you that little bit of hope because
what do they always say, You can't win a World
Series or you can't win a Pennant in the first
month of the season, but you can lose it. So
for at least a month, even the Orioles think they
got a shot up and then you're looking around and going,

(01:33:47):
hold on a second, where's Brady Anderson when we need him?
And then you realize it's over. That's a season, no
no doubt about it. So yeah, I would like to
hear from your chime in your experiences. Opening days is
special to you? Is it feel like a national holiday?
Did you go to an opener today? You know, we
had somebody calling a little while ago who said he
was at the Phillies opener and it was unbelievable and

(01:34:09):
the crowd and how they responded to Harper didn't get
any hits. He was over three, had an intentional walk,
but he wiled the people in Philadelphia. How many openers
have you been to different ballparks? I'm sure Cincinnati, yep, Detroit, Detroit, Toronto.
I've been to a lot because I've covered baseball. I
would say probably half the league. I've been to an opener?

(01:34:31):
Who does it the best? If you were to tell
teams around the league do it like they do it?
Cincinnati okay, but no doubt about it. And I covered
the Reds for a couple of years and it was
a holiday because before Cincinnati had the traditional first game.
Nobody ever played before the Cincinnati Reds. They're the first
professional team in the United States history, but they were

(01:34:52):
They were the ones who started the season, and then
they started changing it because ESPN at Sunday night football
and I mean Sunday Night baseball, and they to start
the game, so that all changed money from the tradition
of the Reds having a traditional opener. But I would say,
and I worked in a lot of baseball towns, New York, Cincinnati, Detroit,
U Saint Louis is a great baseball town. I could

(01:35:15):
go Boston, Philadelphia, we can go on and on, But
I say, Cincinnati, Uh, does it best? Yeah, I've heard
Cincinnati does it really well. But I also heard that
the reason why they don't have the exclusive first game
of the season now moving forward is because of that
fight that you caused between Lupinell and Rob Dibble again

(01:35:36):
what it was like. I'm not here to stir up rumors.
I'm just saying what I'm reporting the news. I just
thought it was about me and March shot, you know,
the late March shot. But we got into it because
her dog crapped on your yard, just like he crapped
all over the fields. She used to she used to
just touch like she would come into this is no
Lot Press dining room, be in the kitchen and would

(01:35:56):
go behind the counter, and you know, she was always
rubbing that dog. Shots you or whatever. So she's always
rubbing the dog. And then she would go in and
she would like, like, you're not supposed to touch the
biscuits with your hands. She would takes touch a biscuit,
put it back, take another one, look at it, put
it back. I used to say, feel sick. Are you crazy?

(01:36:16):
So you can imagine I never had biscuits at the
old Riverfront Stadium. By the way, I look, you were
next to that dog a lot more than I was.
March Shots. Dog looked filthy. It looked like a gardening
truck with crap all over it. Like it just looks filthy,
and it was huge, just a mess, all right, chime in.

At Farmer's Insurance, we know every windshield collision has a
unique sound beatle bird boop, drone, seen it covered it? Doctor, farmers?

(01:37:05):
Are farmers under written? My farmers took fire insurance exchanges
affiliates products unavailable in every state. What is this the
fall guy? No? Oh? Oh? Is this Uh, I'll give
you a hint word hazard, the DUCSA hazard Hazard? What
was it bo? What was his name? Mob? Which one? Boss?

(01:37:26):
What was his name? Mob? What was it? What was
the guy? War up? The sheriff? Boss? Oh you go Boss? No?
Not here go Boss? What was his name? Something forgetting too? Boss? Hog?
Boss Hog? Boss Hog? Do you remember he was on
that show? It sounds like a porn star. Oh, it

(01:37:46):
is the I couple on Fox Sports Radio, Rob Parker
Jonas Knox in for Chris Broussard. Hey, Jona's great news.
There's a quick way you could say money switched to
guy code takes only fifteen minutes to see if you
could say fifteen percent of more on car insurance. Go
to Geico dot com and see how much you could save.

(01:38:08):
All right, we're talking. Let's talking baseball opening day? What
does it mean to you? Did you get to go
to any openers? Is it one of your favorite days
of the year? Is it is for me? And uh?
I had the honor of working in some great baseball
towns including uh Cincinnati and Detroit and New York and
now Los Angeles. UH So I enjoyed myself out at

(01:38:31):
the ballpark today at uh at Dodger State. Did you
get recognized because I've been to games of the year,
My goodness, I've been to a lot of games. The
other day was embarrassing. Man, friend's been with me. So
I'm saying it's my best friend. Friend of saying friend too,
but he's been with me, so Jonas he kind of knows. Yeah,
but it was ridiculous. What game where We're at the Clippers.

(01:38:52):
So we ended up and this was not by not
planned at all. We ended up right next to each
other at the Celtics Clippers game. I was with my
girlfriend and Rob was there and we were literally yeah,
and it's amazing. I mean, we bought those tickets. How
they ended up and so and so we end up
right next to each other at the game, and we

(01:39:13):
walk out at halftime and I'm like, all right, I'm
gonna go grab a beer or whatever. And and it
was every fifteen sets, Rob Parker, I get a picture
of you. Man, love your show man. You're my favorite
Rob Parker, this and that. I mean, it's to the
point where I'm looking around, I'm getting self conscious and
I don't I don't even want to be recognized by
any but because nobody knows who the hell I am.

(01:39:34):
But I'm thinking of myself. This is like what's happening here?
I mean, they're taking pictures. So I just finally said,
you know what, enough with this and I got down
on my knee. I literally got down on my on
my knee and I said, sir, can I get you
a beer? Is anything I can get you, sir? Because
it was like being around a celebrity, it was well.
Today at Opening Day, I ran into a few people

(01:39:54):
who do recognize me because I've been on TV for
a long time, and they were very nice. There's some
nice things to say. So, yeah, I was at the opener.
People were cool. And if you were at the opener,
chime in eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Let's
start with Joseph in Indiana. You're in the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Joseph? How bad? How
are you guys doing great? Uh? Myself, I didn't get

(01:40:17):
a chance to go to opener or watching because I
was at work. But myself with the cupman, I feel
the Chicago have the best baseball culture when it comes
to the Mlbad Cup, the cups of a long legacy
and that out of that tremendous World Series victory. I
think they have a chance to win it this year.

(01:40:38):
They got a really good team. There's no doubt about it. Um,
Chicago is a fun time for baseball. We know that. Listen.
They didn't really do a whole hell of a lot
in the offseason. Uh it's it's looking more like the
eighty five Bears than it is a team that's got
another one. I just you know, there's they didn't do
a whole lot, and you know, guys are getting older.
Everybody on that pitching staffs kind of out there in age.

(01:40:59):
They don't have a lot of young young players. I mean,
but hey, they got their World Series. But it is
Look Wrigley Field. If you've never been to Wrigley Field,
I encourage everybody go to Wrigley Field. Imagine. Imagine you're
walking in a neighborhood and all of a sudden, you
turn the corner. It's crazy. It's in the middle of
the yah. It's so much fun. Jordan in Seattle, you're
on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Jordan, what

(01:41:20):
you got, Hey, Jonas, don't feel upset that you weren't
being recognized at opening day because I'm on a business
trip to South Carolina and weird all the you know,
the four Star strippers, they knew your name. That's all
I need. I'll take what I can get, Jordan, I'll

(01:41:41):
take what I can get. You know what the strip
the strippers there and the waitresses at Sizzler. Yeah, let
me tell you something. That was his favorite restaurant in
South Carolina. Hey, you know what what stripper knew the
name of Rob Parker at Magic City in Atlanta. The
atm oh oh, hey, Jordan, what do you got opening down?

(01:42:03):
I gotta tell you, I uh, I didn't get to
go to opening day to day, but I was gonna
tell you Seattle is not a great baseball town. And
I admit that, and it's my hometown. But when I
was a kid, if you wore your Little league jersey
in you got it for free. It's awesome. So what
you didn't know at that time was you got this
for for nothing. You got to see Randy Johnson, Ken

(01:42:25):
Griffe Junior, uh, Jay Buner. You know there's Edgar Martinez,
Edgar Martin, rode a rod and they and they just
had bad management. And if they would have kept those
all those guys together would have been a tenure run.
It was unbelievable. No, I mean unbelievable. Thanks Jordan. What

(01:42:47):
about Luke and Missouri? You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio? Hey Luke? What you got? Oh? Man, um,
I love Opening Day every year. I try to listen
to the first pitch and the last should beach season.
Oh that's awesome, and you know what school and Luke,
Saint Louis is a great baseball town. It might be

(01:43:07):
the best baseball town in America. They're absolutely right, man,
I can't wait till we play the Cubs. We're coming
for Chris Bryant. Oh yeah, yeah, that's always big. Thanks Luke.
How about Ricky in Alabama? You're in the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Ricky? It's almost poetic
that you bring up the great city of Saint Louis.
I know we're, you know, not as boring as Chicago

(01:43:28):
as you know, client day and we enjoy ourselves. Okay, yeah,
for those of you that aren't familiar, Chris Bryant called
Saint Louis, the city of Saint Louis boring. He's what
he said. Yeah, and so now they're now, they're upset
and they're all after Chris Bryant. I don't think Chris
Bryan's ever talked Trasper. And you know what, Chris Bryant,
he also went down to the yards trying to get

(01:43:49):
some fries and stuff. Just he did. He didn't know what.
But here So hey, Ricky, so so you are you
originally from Saint Louis and you live in Alabama? Ye? Yes, sir,
their eighteen years move down to Mobile. I don't know why.
And I'm trying to find out what Saint Louis. I mean,
the tradition there. Everybody wears red. Everybody's in the Cardinal.

(01:44:10):
We've seen Saint Louis run two football teams out NFL teams.
Oh yeah, and they and they love the Cardinals and
the Blues. Am I right? Bleed blue, baby bleed blue? Now, Ricky,
let me it is here in Alabama. What's the closest
ballpark to you? Is it Atlanta? Yep? Atlanta? And we
have Braves fans this year out of nowhere. So crazy. Yeah. Well,

(01:44:31):
they make the playoffs, that's what happened, you know what reasons? Well,
and they also have some good young players there. You
go Ricky, Thank you appreciated. McLean in Minnesota. You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What you got hey,
just heading back from the Twins game. Nice. The Twins
got off to a nice start, right it too nothing win? Yeah,

(01:44:53):
Jose Barrios looking really good to start off the year here.
Some people like what the Twins have done this offseason?
Do you um? You know, at the end of last year,
it's a little skeptical, but going into this year, there's
a huge bus in the city and I think, uh,
I think we're gonna make a serious run at the
wild Card playoffs this year. They still got Chuck Knoblock there. Listen,

(01:45:16):
I'm asking question, dare you look I'm trying to feed
the audience. It's not up to speed on Twins basics. Claim.
We appreciate you, Thank you so much for calling. I
mean I was gonna say, la Troy Hawkins out of
the bullpen for Minnesota this year. I really like a
lot of dude that some year didn't he played like
sixteen or eighteen years, Eddie Guardato out of the every
day Eddie every day Eddie out of the Twin for

(01:45:36):
the out of the pen for the twins issue. All right,
coming up next, we got trolling and rolling. But first
let's see what's trending with Ralph. Hurry up, Ralph, whoa,
I'll come in there. You know that, I know you will.
Less than ten seconds to go right now. In Louisville
and Tennessee has taken an eighty two eighty lead over Perdue.

(01:45:59):
Again less than ten seconds to play. In that game,
the volunteers taken the lead on an alley oop at
the basket. Meanwhile, one final inn with college basketball, Yeah,
the finals already in that coming from the West Region,
and number one Gunzaga is advancing to the Elite eight
with the seventy two fifty eight win over the number

(01:46:20):
four Florida State. Coming up it will be the number
two Michigan Wolverines taken on the third seed in the West.
That's Texas. Techet's slated to start about twenty minutes from
right now. Now. Your check engine light could signify a
variety of different issues with your car, so the Audi
Zone Fixed Finder service will help you trouble shoot the
issue for free and save you time and money. One

(01:46:43):
game going on right now in the Major League Baseball
Diamonds on Opening Day, and that has the Seattle Mariners
with a couple home runs from Tim Beckham. They lead
the Boston Red Sox is now eight six in that
game as they are headed towards the seventh inning of play.
Maybe that's on the bottom of the sixth, bottom of
the sixth, and then that game and it's eight to six,

(01:47:05):
eight to four, eight to four, right to four. I
saw the sixth inning. It's I'm there's so much going
on today, the head just starts to spy. All right.
We got it eight to four, eight to four. Two
finals in from the NBA Detroit a one fifteen ninety
eight win over Orlando. Philadelphia beats Brooklyn one twenty three
to one. Ten that we'll be back to Jonas and
Rob in ten seconds. But first award from Farmers at

(01:47:26):
Farmers Insurance, we know a roof can withstand a lot,
one exception being an airborne car. Seen it covered it,
doctor Farmers. We are Farmers underwritten my Farmers Truck Fire
Insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable in every state. Now
let's get back to Jonas Knox Rob Parker as they
go trolling and rolling. It is the odd couple of

(01:47:49):
Fox Sports Radio Rob Parker, Jonas Knox, and yes, it
is time for trolling and rolling. Tob Rady, he's done.
Aaron Rodgers did not have a Pro Bowl, Steven Try
it's trolling or rolling, and Martin Weiss is the host

(01:48:11):
of What's Up? What's Up? Everybody? Jonas, I know this
is your first time trolling or rolling, so I'll break
it down for you real quick. I'll tell a quick story.
If you agree with the story, you hear the roll sounds.
If you disagree, we'll hear the troll sounds. Oh man, hey, perfect, perfect,

(01:48:33):
So let's get right to it. Eli Manning said the
hardest place to play is in Philadelphia because of the fans.
Now a few players in the NFL are as familiar
with the Eagles as Eli, and he has some choice
words for the fan base. He said, quote, you go
there and that nine year old kids giving you the
double finger, not a thumbs up, not we're number one,
And then he said something about my mom might to

(01:48:55):
google what that was. It's just a different culture. He
even said they've been there so long he's seeing young
Philly fans grow up and now they bring their nine
year olds to give him the finger. He says, the
Eagles are the worst fan base in football. Rob, are
you trolling or rolling with Eli? I'm trolling with Elive.
I think, hey, I don't know what his record in Philadelphia,

(01:49:19):
that's why he hates it. But as far as fans
and passion, the Eagle fans, they do what they supposed to.
They make it a tough environment. They don't welcome in
other fans to come in and root against their home team.
That's what makes them great fans. They have a home
court advantage, whole field advantage. I love Philadelphia fans and

(01:49:41):
Eagle fans. I'm rolling with Eli. Let me tell you something.
But let me tell you something. If celebrating the greatest
moment in the history of the franchise means getting down
on your knees in a Randall Cunningham jersey and eating
horse feces off the ground, you got issues. They punch
police horses in celebration of playoff wins. To me, that's

(01:50:02):
not a fan base I want to roll with. And
then they, I mean, you have to throw snowballs at
Santa Clause. It's disrespectful. I'm offended by it. I'm rolling
with Eli Manning you sure he thought that was feces
ordered to think that was bucket Swiss cake rolls trolling
a rolling odd couple Fox Sports Radio. Now both these
guys maybe bald and loudmouth, but that's all that Charles

(01:50:23):
Barkley and LaVar Ball have in common. In the fallout
from the Big Baller Branch failure, Charles called LaVar a
quote big mouth jackass dad and said Big Baller Brand
was a joke from the beginning, stay in your name.
Charles clearly thought Big Ball of Brand never had a
shot to succeed. Jonas, are you trolling or rolling with Charles?

(01:50:44):
I'm trolling. Oh man, let me tell you something. Say
whatever you want about LaVar Ball. But that became a
talked about national brand. And maybe they only had their
fifteen minutes of fame, but that's about sixteen minutes more
than most people get. He went toe to tell with
the com peditors. Yeah, the shoes weren't made all that
well and people didn't get what they were promised for.
But nonetheless he did his job. He marketed it well,

(01:51:07):
and Big Ball of Brand will live on and will
be legendary for in about twenty years from now. Is
one of the throwback at apparel that people wear. Come on, Jonas,
I'm rolling with Charles. Let me tell you from the start.
I mean, I get it. I love the ambition of
trying to start your own thing and not just going

(01:51:27):
with the standard sneaker companies that have the monopolies. But
when you ask people to pay five hundred dollars for
a pair of sneakers and wait for six months to
get it, and you're trying to come on that ain't
no big baller have your stuff in line. He had
a chance to make something happen, and he had the
voice he had to play. Yet everything he had a

(01:51:48):
son who was a second overall pick. He had everything
in line, and he botched it because he wasn't ready
to really do business the right way. Hey be a
big baller and I try to get out of art,
get out of the aisle, and I tried that water.
That's it wasn't good. I know, I'll never I'll always
regret the day it was Black Friday and I did

(01:52:08):
not buy the big Bailer branch shirt that I wanted.
Oh man, I'm telling you, they're gonna be collector's items here,
so they're not at Ross. If they were, I'd already
have one. I trust a trolling, rolling odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio last one. Lakers legend Kobe Bryant was
on The Late Late Show with James Cordon and forced

(01:52:29):
with a tough decision he could rank the greatest basketball
players of all time between he mj or Lebron or
he could eat some cal tong. Kobe responded that he
was better than both Mike and Lebron. Now, clearly he
was under durest, but he's made statements before that make
it seem like, at least Kobe believes he's better than Lebron.

(01:52:49):
Rob are you trolling or rolling with Kobe? I'm trolling
with Kobe. Come on, hey, I get it. You know
he didn't want to eat the al tong on national television,
and I could see why, but you know I would
have just said, come on, you know what he Every
player thinks they're the best. That's how you made it

(01:53:11):
to the pros. But Jonas, he ain't better than Michael Jordan.
He loved Michael Joan so much. He emulated him. He
sounded like him. He wore his clothes and and his
h wrist bands and everything like him. You don't emulate
somebody who you You emulate him because you think he's
the greatest. He knows Michael's the greatest. Look I'm trolling.

(01:53:31):
I'm trolling Kobe Bryant here. I like the Bravado, I
like the killer instinct. I wish we had more of
those type of players in the NBA. I think. I
think the more the longer we've gotten away from Kobe Bryant,
the more we start to appreciate him because it's such
a dying breed. He was the last of a dying breed,
him Paul Pierce, that era. But unfortunately he's not as
good as Michael Jordan. He's not. He's he emulated. To

(01:53:54):
Rob's point in his game after Michael Jordan. When you
copy from someone, it doesn't mean that your work is
now looked at as the piece of work. Everybody should
should compare themselves too. He always compared himself to Michael Jordan.
I'm not surprised this is what his answer was. They
wanted to make an interesting and keep it current day.
They should have just said you versus Lebron, why are

(01:54:15):
you better than Lebron James? But they didn't do that.
They put a cow tongue in front of him, and
they made a mockery the whole thing. I'm assuming that
once in your life you had a cow tong well
not to eat. I don't have a cow tongue to eat.
Aren't you anything else with? But I do want to
know Kobe or Lebron. You two. I got Lebron number two,

(01:54:36):
I got lebrone, I got Lebron more all around game. Yep,
there you go. That wraps it up. Trolling, the rolling
a couple of Fox Sports Radio. Nice job, thank you, Martin,
appreciate it. It is the odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio.
And so up next we've got I mean, you've got
a little something here coming up next. Ron, you want
to finish off the show the right way, kind of

(01:54:57):
pay tribute, pay tribute to the your great Major League Baseball. Yes,
can't wait, all right, So that'll be coming up next
here on the Odd Couple here on Fox Sports Radio.
But we do want to let you know that we
are brought to you by truecar. In sports, a trade

Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app At Farmers Insurance.
We know the sound of a perfect hot air balloon
landing and a lesson perfect one. We've seen it, covered it,

(01:56:22):
Doctor Farmers, we are farmers underwritten. My farmers took fire
insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable every state. It's the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio, Yes, wrapping up an
absolutely beautiful, tremendous TV theme song Thursday, Thank you Alex
any time Rob And it's it kind of fits, you know,

(01:56:44):
because Will Smiths from Philly Harper ESPN today they did
a cut in so that we could see Rice Harper's
first step back. Well, they've got to have a backup
plan because they can no longer do cut into Lebron
James in the playoffs. So ESPN's got to do something.
And I didn't even know that, Yeah that that he

(01:57:06):
walked up. This was his spring training. I don't know
about today. Are born and raised in Philly, right, Yeah,
it's pretty awesome. Yeah, it's a lie. I mean, three
hundred and thirty million lee she could do is play
freshman Prince of bel Air. He's all I'm gonna say
is he's doing it right. Embrace Philadelphia. He signed a
thirteen year contract. Everything that's Philly. Just you be all

(01:57:30):
about that's the way you do it. He's done everything
right and even though he didn't get any hits today, Uh,
he's often running. Yeah, and hopefully he doesn't get screwed
over like Tennessee's gotten screwed over in this basketball game. Unbelievable.
Unbelievable that that'll be. That'll be a discussion point. All right,
just go back and uh after this shows. Don't do it.
Don't do it during the show. But just watch how

(01:57:51):
many times got a Tennessee can get screwed back to
see what's supposed to be in my final four? Yeah,
mine too. That's why I'm pissed. Selfish interests here. So
we have ten to see is down bar like five
five in overtime, not looking good as perdue. Now a
backcutting a basket and now it's a seven point lead,
and h there goes. You're bracket in my bracket up

(01:58:11):
in flames. This just reminds me of old days because
I'm about to go to sports bar and watch some
basketball and some wings. But Opening day during the day
and then college basketball. Now now for you, now that
now that you are a celebrity, I'm not a celebrity,
and you don't want to get in Look at they say,
it's all about optics. You don't want to give away
these optics. So when you belly up to the bar,

(01:58:35):
you're no longer doing the kamakazees, are you. No? No, no,
we've outgrown I'm not doing I'm not drinking now. I'm
on the workout plan. Oh yeah, I got the trainer.
No drinking at all, No drinking for the next four
and a half months, no drinking for four and a
half months. And easy. The hell's are wrong with you?
I could do it very easily too. Whatever whatever I
want to stop, like no cheesecake, I just stop. I

(01:58:56):
just stop. And that's good. And then when you get
to the ball park and you've got to dive into
some ballpark food. Look, that's why I want the games.
I make it my cheat day. But you know what
I do. So if I want pizza out at the ballpark,
I eat the cheese off the top of the pizza. Jesus.
If I want a Dodger dog or a hot dog,
I eat I put two dogs on no bun and

(01:59:19):
I cut it with a knife and fork. But just
making your cheat day, and that way you don't have
to to cut out those carbs, those good carbs. Man,
I don't. I don't cheat because I'm not thirty years
old like you are. It's a big difference twenty four,
you know you, yeah, twenty four. I'm not in my
thirty I can't do that. A cheat day destroys everything

(01:59:43):
I'm doing, you know what I mean? Like one day
you could have like a piece of cheesecake and gay
nine pounds. That's how it worked. Now we know that
opening Day in Major League Baseball is your favorite day
of the year, all right, without question, no no doubt
about it. What's number two? What's number three? Ah? Good question?
I would say um, because I think number two was

(02:00:04):
when Lebron came to LA Remember that. That's good. I
think probably the start of the football season because that
used to be. You know, everybody Chris thinks I'm I
hate the NFL. Don't. There's a lot of things I
don't like about the NFL, but I don't hate the
I think I told you Jonas off the air. When

(02:00:25):
I was in high school, I would not work. I
was a shoe salesman at the mall. I would not
work on Sunday for those sixteen NFL weeks refused to work.
That's that's called power, because because when you're that young,
you don't tell the bosses anything. You work. And that's
what I'm saying. I went in and I said, no,
I'm not working during that time. I said, I'll work
any other time for you, but during football season. And

(02:00:48):
the other thing was our church went to a Baptist
church in New York. And you know, I don't know
if you ever been to a Baptist church, it's like
three or four hours. It's like all day. Okay, it's
like an all day affair. So I would be like, Mom,
I can't I can't miss the kick kickoff. So my
mom would look at me like we'd lived at far.
I could walk home like ten minutes before kickoff and go, okay,

(02:01:13):
you can go. And I would walk out the back
door and I would go straight, I'm not kidding you.
And I would go home and leave church early to
watch the kick off door football. See, And that was
always the thing my mom would make me go to
church when I was younger, and I always wanted to
watch football. And so then I figured out that if
you go to the early mass, like the six fifteen
or six fifty five Mass. Right, there's no singing and

(02:01:36):
mass is over, and now you're ready to watch watch
the Bears lose again. It was It was just a
glorious time as a child, no doubt about it. But
what a glorious opening day. So much going on around
Major League Baseball, so happy. I'm excited about the season.
I like players have moved and gone to different places.
We're looking at different places, different teams, and obviously is

(02:02:00):
just one day, but it was a lot. I was
impressed by the Dodgers eight home runs in seven And
even though Major League Baseball lied to you and all
of America and their fans and their their crooks and
con artists, because their opening day was last week in Tokyo,
even though they lie to you, it's good that you
still have love. What this was opening day on American soil. Ibelievable.
And that's when it counts on American soil, American Americas

(02:02:24):
selling you, selling you a bill of goods, selling you garbage.
Don't ever forget that Major League baseball is a national pasttime.
It sure is. For the next six months, We're gonna
love it. It's the odd couple. Fox Sports Radio, Fox
