(00:22):
Oh wow, yeah, off, I caught me off guard. That
was That was the worst one I've done. I'll admit it.
What was that? That was the worst one? Should yeah, Alice,

(00:44):
we should have one, don't we have one? Tape? We
should always we should always have that just in case
your voice a little something's wrong with dad. I wasn't ready.
I wasn't prepared. That just sounded a little off. It
was still it was still a ninety five. Oh yeah,

(01:10):
that was bad. All right. This is the Eye Covers
Chris Russ large side my partner Rob Parker, and we're
coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on
your car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for a free
rate quote. What a show we have in store for you? Wow,

(01:34):
big news in Lakerland. Luke Walton and the Lakers mutually
part ways. That's the way it's been put that they
mutually designed got fired, they wanted fired. Well, he may
have won it. He got fired. He could get the
Sacramento cos job or another job. I think for him

(01:57):
it was a good situation too that he's out. He's gone,
and I think it's good for the Lakers. We'll get
into that a little bit later. Tiger Woods making a
run one back of the leaderboard at the top of
the charts, or the leaderboard at the Master's Man, there's
nothing more exciting. Very let me put it this way,

(02:18):
very few things are more exciting than sports. Then when
Tiger Woods is on the cusp, I hit it so
good today, Then when are you talking about golf? Was
that about golf or was that something else? It's not
Magic City? Monday man? What hill? He just said? He
hit it good? Ship and we've got a was this man?

(02:44):
Should I tell him who the celebrity guest is? Yes? Yes,
sin Bad? Wow? Why I'm excited about sin Bad? You
should be too. You got asking comedy question double wall. Yeah,
I'm happy that we got sin Bad. That's a big get,
especially for you because you want to be a stand
up comic. I do you want to be funny? So bad?

(03:07):
I am funny. You should get stuff like rim shots
than you with on the radio show. On this show,
I think I've gotten more. You probably tell ten times
the amount of jokes I tell, and I am at
least equal with you on rim shots. All Right, we're
gonna do a counter because I don't agree with that.
I was saying, start keeping track. I was not here
every day. How's he gonna keep tracking? All Right, Nate,

(03:31):
I would say, Nate. Between the two of them, they
can keep track. We'll get it together, all right. All right,
your turn, man, go ahead and do do do what
you lost to do. Also, I want to say real
quick before we introduced Your Couple Crew, we do have
a new segment. But I'm very happy about that. You're
upon the foul or fair. It's baseball related and basically

(03:55):
this week Rod Allen, the former Major League outfielder and
broadcast will join us. And I will do that once
a week as well. Can't wait for it. Some good stuff,
but let's welcome in the od Couple crew. Of course,
Rob g is our producer, Alex is our engineer, our
sports taker, is deb Carson, and yes, she'll keep us

(04:15):
updated throughout the program Iowa State. Nate is our intern
and Elijah is our social media guru. Chris Bussard're all
on the other side of the glass on this Friday.
Let's kick some ass here on the odd couple, all right,
Let's do just that, all right. I said it at

(04:36):
the top of the show. Luke Walton and the Lakers
announced today that it has mute. They have mutually parted
ways and decides. I think it's great for both sides.
I think I'm on record as saying that Luke Walton
was not the problem. I'm not saying these Radar Box

(04:59):
Film Jackson, Larry Brown, anybody like that. He's a decent coach.
He's a solid coach, all right. He's young guy, got
some good potential. I'm not surprised at all that his
name is already being thrown out there for other jobs.
I definitely thought he would get another head coaching job,
if not this season, then in the very near future.

(05:20):
So I think it's but that said, he had to go.
He had to go. Lebron James, the best player on
the team, was not bought in, and whenever the best
player on the team is not bought in, the coach
has to goal and it's not about Lebron Magic Johnson got,

(05:42):
Paul West had fired, Jason Kidd got coaches fired. It happens.
But when the best player is not bought in, you
must go. And it goes deeper than that, because these
last two years in the three year Lakers tenure of
Luke Walton have been disastrous, from Linzo Ball to LaVar

(06:06):
Ball calling the mouth said he's lost the locker room.
It's been one drama play, one soap opera after the other.
And there's just too much ill baggage, too much negative
baggage with Luke Walton and the Lakers right now for
him to be the head coach. That's not even the

(06:27):
mention that the expectations changed when Lebron becomes a coach.
Lucas brought here to coach a young group of players
and help them develop. When Lebron James decided to come
to the Lakers, everything changed, so he had to go.
And I think it's best for the Lakers and best

(06:48):
for him because he'll go elsewhere, get a fresh start,
and I think he'll do a decent job. I'm not
a Luke Walton fan at all. I'm still trying to
figure out what he does so well. But anyway, I'm
not surprised that he did get Some people thought he
might have been saved Chris because magic quit, right, it
seemed like a possibility for sure. I didn't think so

(07:10):
because of Lebron. Lebron's people have put it out there, right,
we know that that he wasn't a fan of Luke Walton.
So I didn't believe that because if you're gonna hold
on to Lebron James for the next three years, you
can't have a coach that he's not feeling I'm playing
and simple. So she had no choice but to make
that happen, and probably heard from Lebron or Lebron's people

(07:32):
about Luke Walton and understood that this kid continue to
go on. Okay, it just can't. And you know, when
you talk about him developing the young guys, there was
a time when those young guys were supposed to go
out there and play and they needed them to do so,
and they couldn't do it. They didn't do it under Luke.
They were all out there trying to play. I just

(07:53):
I think that at this brandon Ingram had a really
good year for himself. Yeah, I'm just talking about when
they needed them to step up. When Lebron was out
those eighteen games, Right, that's when the young guys didn't
They weren't ready. They used to go go look at
some of the games, Chris. They were down by twenty
in the first quarter. You know that, am I right?
I'm not picking on them. I'm telling you they weren't

(08:14):
ready for that for prime time when it came time
for those I'll put that on. I'm just saying, but
that's what he was supposed to do, was work on
those guys, and it just didn't materialize. So here we are.
I'm not surprised they have to move on. I don't
care what names they mentioned. I still think ty Lou
is gonna wind up being a coach. There ain't no

(08:34):
way that Lebron's gonna take some fly by night guy
who's never won anything. He's got to be with somebody comfortable,
someone familiar, and someone who's already won a championship. That's
ty Lou. That's ty louis not money Williams. Only thing
that would stop ty Lou from becoming the next head
coach of the Lakers is if they don't want to
meet his monetary demands. And I hear those demands are

(08:58):
significant because as much as as close as he is
with Lebron, he knows that it is hard coaching Lebron.
It put him in a hospital last time he was
coaching him. The stress. So ty Lew is going to
want to be heavily compensated and they probably will compensate

(09:19):
him that well. Oh, the Lakers are right now counting
Penny used to see how much money they have can
they pay him? Basically, whether you want to pay or not.
Monty Williams would not be a bad hire. I thought,
I think Monty Williams is a good coach. I thought
he did a pretty good job in New Orleans. I
think the problem there was simply that nobody could stay healthy.
You know, he was in Portland, and you know, Monty

(09:41):
Williams is a good coach. He's a defensive coach and
that's what the Lakers need. He plays a slower brand
of basketball and that's what Lebron wants to play. You know,
run when you can run opportunistically. But Monty Williams wouldn't
be bad. I know the interesting thing about him, he
was high on Magic Johnson's list. So I do think

(10:03):
Monty's kind of just being thrown out there, but just
because the kind of make it look like we're going
after other guys just look like and if Tyrone Lou
knows there's nobody else on the horizon of nobody being
talked to this, it's all about me. And also now
you gotta make them think, well, maybe they might go
another one. Ty Low and Luke Walden are great friends,

(10:27):
like best of friends, and so ty probably certainly doesn't.
I mean Luke Luke knows what's going on, but he
doesn't want to make it seem like, you know, this
is my good friend and I'm undermining I've been talking
to the Lakers all along. Once you're route, you can't
hold that against ty Low as a coach. That's just professional.
I get it. But you're still friends, you still look

(10:48):
they're human beings. I'm with you. I'm not saying it's
a huge deal, but still it's it's there. You know,
it's your one of your best friends getting run through
the mill all season long when it happens a lot
out there, when else best friend, I'm saying there are
a lot of guys I've seen guys of their friends. No,
but I've seen it where guys sometimes like they have

(11:09):
to fire their coaches or on the staff and there
sometimes I've seen guys have to get rid of people
who are close friends are there and then and then
you know it's either it's either either he goes the
pitching coach, or that guy goes, or or you go,
which so decide what you want to do. But that's different.
This is a difference. Inton was the head coach and

(11:31):
he all season long he's been rumored to be fired.
And your best friend is the one they're saying it's
gonna take off. Yeah, but you also understand a little different. Yeah.
But the differences though is that he has a history
with Lebron, so that that's why it's just a natural.
He didn't have a job, he won a championship with Lebron,

(11:52):
so his name is just automatically gonna come up. So
if I'm Luke, I get that it makes sense. Yeah,
I don't think it's gonna break up the relationship or
anything like that. I hope it's not built on just basketball.
If you really become friends, No, I don't think that.
But look, and I think that's. Like I said, this
is good for Luke. They're saying his he's the some
reports that he's the clear cut favorite to get the

(12:13):
job in Sacramento. Maybe that's why they fired the coaching
Sacramento despite having the best record since two thousand and five,
two thousand six, two years. Yea, yeah, here's the something.
I'm Luke Walton. I want no parts of the Sacramento
Kings front office. I'm sorry. And I know Vlydie Diva
stay where teammates. They got a relationship, so he may

(12:35):
very well go there. And the roster's fine, a lot
of nice young parts, but that front office is horrendous.
You fired Mike Malone when he was the only coach
of several who could get a rapport with Boogie Cousins
and had you playing good basketball, close to five hundred

(12:56):
basketball for a team that hadn't seen five hundred in years,
and then Dave Yeager leads you to the best season
in thirteen years. You got a bunch of young players
that overachieved, You played a fascinating, fun, up tempo style,
and you fire him. So if I'm Luke, I'm looking around.

(13:19):
I'm looking at Minnesota where you got Karl, Anthony Towns,
and Andrew Wiggins. Heck, I might be looking at New
Orleans where David Griffin is the new head of basketball.
And that takes another candidate away from the Lakers, right,
so you know we'll see what because he couldn't get

(13:39):
the Laker job. Well, now here's the thing that that
that is a great segue because will David Griffin, your
Griffin is good. And I'll tell you what. It's not
gonna be easy for the Lakers to get Anthony Davis. Now,
it's probably gonna have to be a three or four
team deal for the Lakers to pull. I don't think

(14:00):
the Lakers have enough to offer. They got enough to offer,
I don't. I think there's too many question marks with
a couple of their guys. So I don't think that's
when I say that they don't have enough. Well, it
depends on what other teams are offering. All right, Now
that Luke Walton is out, who should the Lakers target
as their next head coach? We will continue the conversation

to you Lakers looking for a new coach. Who will
it be? Any surprises out there? Obviously we all think
ty Loo. Let's see what you guys think. Eight seven

(16:53):
seven ninety nine on Fox. I'm impressed everybody doesn't think
it's tied. Let's start with sa Mark shall Mark in Buffalo.
Shemarkt with prison Rob. Hey, good, how are you guys doing?
How are you good? Well? I'm a big Knicks fan.
But is this ster typical to say I knew you
were black? Yes, but I'm black. I can say that. Yes,

(17:17):
I it's a good name. I like on the phone.
I like it. All right, go ahead, So I have
a quick comment about about the Lolu thing and then
a question about the Knicks. Um. I definitely think they
have no choice but to hire Lou. Let's be honest.
No guide is going to come in that locker room
and command the respect from the Bond James other than Lou.
And the reality is, since Magic Johnson is going, they

(17:40):
really have no choice. I mean, anybody they hire They're
gonna have to deal with this guy looking over his
shoulder for the next three or four years or how
many years it was left on the bonds contact if
it's not loose. So I just think the Lakers kind
of painted himself in the corner, though obviously they have
no choice with Magic Johnson, he wassigned. But that's my
opinion on that. I do have a question for you guys. Um,

(18:01):
you know, Chris, I know you know got your your
your your special contacts, and you might know a little
bit more uh about the whole next situation. But how much, um,
how much of a difference do you think Mills and
Perry and Fizz aren't gonna make anymore seriously recruiting kybody's big,
It's big. Scott Perry worked with Kevin Durant in Seattle.

(18:23):
Scott Perry was assistant GM when they Vin Durant. Yeah,
he has a good and still have a good relationship.
Uh so they got it in. Fizdale has great respect
around the league from the players. So look, Kevin Durant
everything I'm being told he's going there, right because she's
going there. Nobody nobody's flinching on that. I mean, people
are saying it's out there, and so I'm with you

(18:46):
where it smoked the fire. There's too many people talking
about really, just like Lebron to the Lakers. Will Travis
in Iowa, you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Travis? Hey, a whole lots on the way
home from work. Thanks guys for let me call in. Yes, thanks,
we appreciate you. Hey, well, thank you. I think that

(19:08):
the best move for the Lakers are to be called
Phil Jackson and beg him to come back. If you
can do it with Jordan and Kobe, he could do
it with Lebron. Phil Jackson can't even travel. Phil can't
walk up. I mean, look if if Phil, if it
was ten years ago as coach, not as president. Because
I agree, I agree Travers with that. I just think Phil,

(19:31):
I don't know what his physical state is right now,
and I just don't think you could coach from a
wheel chair. Don't you sitting in that high chair. Don't
forget Phil and Lebron have history. Hey good, it ain't
good history. I don't see that comment. However, Lebron is
very forgiving. He went back with Dan Gilbert. Let's go
to Dave in Houston. Dave, you know with Chris and

(19:53):
Rob Hey, Chris stakes to take him a call, Guys,
no problem. I just want to make two points. First,
I want to challenge what what Rob said that it
had to be a coach with rings and cache. I
would make the point that Lebron never won with a
coach that already had those things they wanted together. Uh.
Not a big Tyler fan myself, but uh Lu didn't

(20:15):
have any any any rings anything like that before he
took over the team. So Dave, who, Okay, you don't
have Tyler, you don't like Tyler? Who do you think
if you were running the Lakers, who would you want
to hire? Well? I'm not a Laker fan personally, but
just put yourself in this position. Who would you who
you think would be the best coach for the Lakers?
I like the guy out of New Orleans personally. You know,

(20:37):
I just think that no, no, no, Williams right because
I think he plays the better style of ball that
Lebron needs to play. I mean, his running gun days
are old. Uh. And so I just think that. Uh.
And then the other thing that I just wanted to
uh to mention now I lost my train of thoughts.
All right, that all the him and I think Lebron's

(20:59):
in the different place too. He's not trying to teach
anybody or but three years left as he gets older.
I'm just saying somebody's more comfortable when he's knowing Monty Bud, Yeah,
do you know what you do? And that's why I
have to worry about that with ty Low and he's
been in the big games. He's been in those situations.
I don't know what Monty Williams is gonna do. That's
the only reason I say a coach would experience. What

(21:22):
about Louise in Vegas? You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What you got, Luise? I was thinking,
thinks Christ thinking my car? I was thinking about can
you turn the radio down? Kobe as the head coach? Yes, stopping. Look,
I'd rather Kobe as president because I think if rather

(21:45):
Kobe is neither. If Kobe, we're all in. He's intelligent
enough and he is a hard worker. He's a grinder.
If Kobe really wanted the job, I think he actually
be a good president head coach. I most great players
don't make great head coaches. In all sports. There's a
lot of guys who have tried or president. But I

(22:07):
do think Kobe has the goods to be a good
front office per Yeah, I'm not so sure. I don't
think the Lakers are I don't think the Lakers are
in a position. This is me that way. They want
to train somebody as they go along. I just think
that that's not what they should be about. Go get somebody.
Stop hiring people who just have ties with the Lakers.

(22:27):
All right? With David Griffin in the fold, is there
any chance Anthony Davis stays in New Orleans next season?
Fox Sports NBA analysts Antonio Daniels has the answer next,
but first let's bring in Dab Carson for the latest
in sports. Dab, how are you hello? I am fantastic.
Happy Friday, everybody as well, Thank you, thank you. Tiger
Woods finished up his second round of the Masters with

(22:50):
a par eighteenth hole, so he is now just one
off the lead. He and Dustin Johnson both at six
under par, along with several others who are tied for
sixth behind the leaders. Francesco Molinari, Brooks Kepka, Adam Scott,
Louis Tasen, and Jason Day all atop the leaderboard at
seven under par. They did have to stop play briefly
earlier today because of a downpour, and they've been playing

(23:12):
in sprinkles since then. Blue Jackets out to a one

that series one zip. Meanwhile, one game in the books
as far as Major League Baseball goes, and it was
the Cubs ending the angel six game win streak five

and the Carolina Panthers of signed former Patriots receiver Chris

big news today the Lakers and coach Luke Walton mutually
agreeing to part ways. He's now believed to be a

the greatest sport tradio duo of all time doing this
Friday racket. That's right, thank you, Marty. We appreciate the love. Yes,
before I get on the subject, I gotta give Rob

(25:18):
Park some credit. Man, some credit? Why, Yes, that's the God. Yeah,
you've got christa ware your shoes today. Chris is the
hater today because Rob told a hilarious joke to start
this show, and Chris, you didn't give him any credit. Yes,
what joke? What was it? You remember? Yea the tiger
calling in? He said? Is he talking about God? Man?

(25:40):
That was hilarious. It's a little off color for the radio.
That was my point. You got what You gotta be careful.
This is a man show, all right, Mary Saint Detroit
late night, This ain't Detroit after dark. You can get
away with that in the motor all right, all right, daddy,
all right, let's get to Antonio Daniels, NBA Champion, Fox

(26:02):
Sports NBA analysts. Antonio, what's happening in brother? How you
Chris and Rob? How are you doing? Man? Great man?
Great to have you on. All right, I'm excited about
these playoffs. And I'm gonna tell you, man, you you do,
you do the thunder games, I've got them. Antonio going
to the Western Conference Finals? Am I crazy? You're not crazy? No,

(26:26):
because realistically, let's let's look at their bracket. Look at
the bracket that they're in. So Denver didn't make the
playoffs last year, San Antonio was eliminated first round and
traded away their best player, and a lot of people
didn't have san Antonio even making the playoffs this year.
Oklahoma City was eliminated first round and Portland was sweat

(26:47):
first round last year. One of those four teams is
going to be in the Western Conference Finals this year, right,
one of those fours. So no, you're not crazy for
thinking that way. I'm not buying it, and I'm not
there yet. You're always gonna hate. He has no idea
who he thinks. That was my question. I can understand.

(27:10):
I can understand you saying I'm not buying it. But
if you're not buying it, who are you buying. I'll
buy Denver and I'd like the way that they play
at home. I know you guys can poo poo what
they've done in the whole nine yards because they didn't
make the playoffs. They played so well, Antonia, Antonio, you
know that this year, especially at home, and if they
have a home court, this team can do damage. They

(27:32):
can move all the way to the Western Conference finals.
And you know what, I am not doubting day, but
I am Listen. We can't sit here right now and
say experience does not matter. So all the guys that
Denver relies on for offensive responsibility and heavy duty minutes
have zero experience. Paul millst has more experience than that

(27:54):
entire right roster. I love coach Mike Malone. I love him,
but yet he does can even have the experience of
coaching in a playoff series like this, let's best. I'm
with that. I'm with that, Antonio, And now I'm glad
you brought up experience. And that's why I do have
the Spurs beating the Nuggets in the East. Now, I

(28:14):
hope I like Milwaukee. I Yannes is my MVP. I've
even voted him for Defensive Player of the Year and
Boutenozer Coaching the Year. But I'm picking Toronto to beat
them in the Conference finals precisely because of the experience
you know Kawhi, Danny Green, Milwaukee has none of it.
You think that's the difference the how big is the

(28:35):
experience in the playoffs and it will impact you think Milwaukee. Well,
for me, experience is extremely important because there's no situation
that's too big. Kawhi has been there, Danny Green has
been there. Mark Dassoul has lengthy playoff experience. Kyle Lowry,
even though he hasn't been the best come playoff time,

(28:56):
he has playoff experience. And now the way that Toronto
was built, Kyle Lowry does not have to be fantastic
every single night. He can be subpar, He can be
average or mediocre because of the other pieces that they had,
Pascal Siako, the NBA Most Improved Player, Kawhi Leonard, a
former Finals MVP, an NBA champion, Danny greene an NBA champion,

(29:19):
Mark Bassault has battle tested and been through these fires
so many times. So now I think it's less pressure
on Kyle Lowry to be fantastic like he had to
be these past few years. When they met up with Lebron,
Are you concerned at all about Philadelphia and b might
even not even play Game one against the Nets? Does
that bother you at all. Are you concerned about his health? Yes,

(29:43):
I think the most important thing for any team coming
into the playoffs is health. There's nothing more important. You
can talk about playing well together and you want to
peak at the right time of the season, but if
your roster is not completely healthy, you want trouble. Portland
they had a great year, but they're coming into the
playoffs lipping right now, and honestly, that may give them

(30:04):
an excuse out. Last year they got sweat first round,
and now this year it's like, oh, well, we're not
completely healthy because nur Kitch is gone and c. J.
McCullum's not healthy. There's nothing more important entering the NBA
playoffs than the health of your players, let alone your
star players. Let's move on to a team that's not
in the playoffs. That's the Lakers. Of course. What you

(30:25):
think about the move today with Stay said it was
a mutual part. He got fired. They just want to
be nice. Yeah, what do you think of that situation?
You know at Tony I'm gonna keep it real, you
know that. Well, what I thought about it, it was
just a matter of time before the hammer came down.
We all knew what was coming. Yes, but did you

(30:46):
think with Matt Okay that now the magic situation that
throw you off? I mean, well that I think that
threw everybody off. And you know what was weird about
that situation. It's the timing of it all. Everything with
the Lakers now, it's it's not just the fact that
that it's happening, it's the timing of certain things and
the way that's certain. Everything is like out in the

(31:06):
forefront like this. You know, when when they tried to
acquire Anthony Davis and they put everybody out on their roster. Okay,
this guy's available, and this guy's available. Everything is public
with the Lakers. Magic Johnson out of nowhere, the steps
up in front of everybody out there there. You know what, man,
I'm done. I'm you know what, I'm not happy. I

(31:26):
wish I could tweet Russell Westbrook and say right, but
all this stuff is just coming from nowhere, and it's
just it's weird how nothing is kept in house anymore.
It's the Eye couple. We're joined by NBA champion FS
one Sports NBA analyst Antonio Daniels come coming into the

(31:47):
season out of the East. I was picking the Raptors.
I'm sticking with them to come out of the East.
Who do you have who you like the best out
of all the teams? That's who I had to when
the season started, I picked Golden State and to and
the reason I picked Toronto was because of not just
the acquisition of Kawhi Leonard, but also Danny Green. I

(32:07):
think we kind of diet Kawhi Leonard is Kawhi Leonard.
Danny Green is extremely important when you have a guy
that can strift the floor like that, that's a three
and D guy that can defend as well, that has
been to NBA finals, that have seen the success that
has been through the ropes. I picked them because they
were the best team in the East last year record wise,

(32:28):
and they got better in the off season. So I
picked Toronto when the year started. All right, that's it.
You broke it down. So so can you give us
your finals pick? I guess it's Golden State in Toronto
will be my finals. But I'm with you. I have
Oklahoma City going to the Western Conference Finals. It's just

(32:49):
really really tough to pick anybody against Golden States. I
know people were looking at all the other stuff. What
happened with Draymond and Kyd. Listen, you can beat them
randomly on a Tuesday, you can beat them on given Thursday.
But to beat them four times in two weeks with
that amount of firepower and adding Boogie Cousins, who gives
them a completely different element that they've never had before,

(33:11):
I just can't see it happening. Chance quickly do you
give Houston because obviously they're you know, a tough matchup
for the Golden State. It's a tough match up. But
I don't think Houston is as good of a team
this year as they were last year. They're still a
really good team. I think they were better built to
challenge it even beat Golden State a year ago more

(33:32):
than a day are this year. I want to bet
you some chicken wings, some wingstop wings on the Oksey
getting to the Western Conference finals. You down, Oh yeah,
you of course. I am all right me and you
remember marked this on the tape. I got it, okay,
but wait, we got it. How much how much will
be out there like a like a piece twenty wings?

(33:56):
I'm with that. I will take that. Let's do it,
will take it all right, Antonio Daniel's grace and the
dress always rather we appreciate it. I gotta wash him down,
all right. That's cool, Yeah, that's cool and cool? Yes,
all right, can't wait? Peace? All right? The NBA Playoffs
kick off tomorrow and Rob Parker's predicting an upset in

(34:19):
the first round, major upset. You better stick and stay America.

You had some life before you started with the church

(35:24):
having you. You know, all the songs, I see the
way you're moving and all that church and I'm just saying,
Alex ab I right. You know, there's no doubt his
name was CB backing. Yeah, back in the day. You know,
you know, worship Wednesday is funky. It was funcky this
Wednesday DJ time just saying it was all right, it's

(35:45):
NBA playoff time rap. So that means it's time for
us to do our playoff picks. Are you ready? Most
of them are Monday, And because it's you did with Antonio,
I don't know who's gonna win, but I ain't ready
to go with Okay, See you just wanted to hate, well,
I wanted to win wings. You know when I bet wings,
what usually do usually win. It's got me. That's got

(36:07):
me a little worry because I'm with Antonio, I know,
but I usually win wing beats usually not all the time.
Usually all right, so I go first my first round,
Let's go to the West Rod, I mean obviously Golden
State and uh, the Clippers. I got Golden State in four.
I got the Clippers. No, I got Golden State in five.

(36:30):
I think Clippers win one game. I don't know if
it's game three when they come back home after that
down oh two, And something about that group, and Chris,
I told you way back that twenty eight point comeback
against Boston. Just show me something about them. Yeah, they
did well, just right here, they did you, they did
well just to get here. They won forty eight going
home early, right, Houston, Utah? I got Houston in six.

(36:59):
I hate to saying, but I agree with you. Houston
in six. Can't see. I know Utah struggled early, bounce back,
made the playoffs in good position, but I don't think
it's the same run they had a year ago. Now,
they're a nice little squad. Last year they had something
going well and they beat Okay was it Okay? See? Yeah, yeah,
it was a little more magical. That's all I'm gonna say.

(37:20):
They got a good team, but Houston's Houston's just better.
All right, let's go with Portland and Oklahoma City. I'm
going with OKAC in five. I got uh, okayc in six.
Look at that all that trash utah. But that doesn't
mean they're going to the Western Conference. Okay, I got

(37:42):
them in six games. Man, I'm gonna give the Blazers.
They got swept last year. They donna have to They're
gonna show up. I know that they don't have all
that players. I give them two games. All right. Now,
we got Denver and San Antonio. I don't know what
you have against Denver. You hate that team, No, I don't.
I'm going with san Antonio in six experience two of

(38:02):
the three best players on the floor. Nobley's not playing,
Malone's good, Tony Parker's gone, Tim Duncan's gone. Stop it.
You don't like Demard de Rosen and Larcus Audrey. No,
I'm gonna go. And even though they played for the
st I do know that I'm going with Denver. I
like what they do. They're a great home team. I'm
gonna go with Denver. They went How many games do

(38:24):
you have? I got six? Six? No, way, all right
on the eastern side of the fall. That's why I
got a Shotka coming up, all right, Milwaukee and Detroit. Detroit.
I hate to tell you this, Rod Parker, I know
that's your squad. You can say squad. I'm not a fan,
I'm a reporter. It is obvious. Is the day is long?

(38:46):
What are you talking about? You have a sauce bite
in your heart for Motown and that's fine, embrace it.
Milwaukee in four you want to bet on that one? Yeah? Wings,
Milwaukee four Milwaukee, No, Milwaukee in for is? What are
you saying? I'm saying the Bucks in five. If you
would have win six, we could do that. But nah,

(39:08):
but there's no difference. You say it so competently all
the time. What do you say? Lebron got swept in five?
So you you don't think there's any difference in four
and five? No, but it's different. That was five to
be contrary, and so that you can watch you don't want.
You saw many wings about the Lakers thing anyway, all right,
Boston and Indiana. I'm going with Boston in six. If

(39:33):
Oladipo was playing, I might think differently, but I'm with
this with you Celtics in six, I agree if I
like that team, though, I mean, you would probably be
a tough seas what Indiana has been able to do
without him is amazing faded down the stretch. No, I'm
just but but I'm just saying, like even to that point,
I hear you. All right, Philadelphia and Brooklawn. I got

(39:55):
Philadelphia in five. Hey, we breaking news, We got faking news.
Here's the big upset in the first round of the
NBA Playoffs. IM beat is not the healthy might not
play game one. I'm going with no Sleep to Brooklyn.

(40:18):
And I'm going with Brooklyn and seven two shot the
Philadelphia seventy sixers. There's my big upset. I'm not like
Chris all the obvious. You don't believe it. Here we go.
You don't believe Look at you with a hip hop
raft no sleep. What's you know about a hip the

(40:40):
Beastie Boys, no sleep to Brooklyn. This I lived in Queens.
We used to the sick. This all right? You don't
believe that you're just trying to be contrary. Toronto and Orlando.
I got Toronto in four. I got Toronto in four. Orlando,
No Mickey Mouse Town to day happening. Y'all heard it.

(41:02):
Rob Parker, just trying to be contrary. Doesn't believe that
Philadelphia is gonna get beat by Nope. Brooklyn. You can
sing Beastie Boys all you want. You just want to
be contrary admitted. You don't believe it. You didn't know.

we were just talking NBA playoffs. We're gonna stay with
the NBA, but we're gonna go to free agency because
that's a big story. Even now on the cusp of

(42:06):
the playoffs, everybody's still talking about where's Kauwhai going, Where's
kad going, Where's Kyrie going? And then of course Lebron
who last summer went to the Lakers, and Lebron has
been a guy that hasn't been afraid to move around
and set up the perfect team for him, at least
in his mind this time. And we have an interesting

(42:30):
documentary that's coming out soon or I don't know if
it's it's out. Yeah, it just came out with Derek Rose,
and Derek Rose is what you're gonna hear is him
finding out he was traded from Chicago to New York
and how emotional it made him. And the reason we

(42:52):
want to tie this in with free agencies because a
lot of people have a problem with today's NBA players
taking their destiny into their own hands now going where
they want. I'm not saying you just where they want
to go, and this could be a reason why players
do it. When you hear how distraught and upset and

(43:16):
crushed Derek Rose was when he was trading, I'll say
I don't think anybody should have a problem with somebody
who's a free agent. That's a part of the collective
bargaining agreement. The issue that I have is when guys
join up together and mess up the competitive balance of
the league and make super teams that as we go
to see the Warriors go to the NBA Finals for

(43:37):
the fifth year in a row. Hasn't happened since the fifties,
with the early sixties with the Celtics, when there were
only eight teams in the league. That's my only concern,
not that you can't do what you want. And I
think the Derek Rose thing is a little off center
from this damnpoint. He was from Chicago. He wanted MVP
in Chicago. It was a Chicago basketball legend, and that's

(43:59):
why it wasn't just that he was traded. He was
traded from his hometown that he loved and loved being there.
So I think that amped up. Listen to it saying
favorite your point, you know, I'm right about that Chicago favorite.
Something that's funny. Yeah, everything he plays out and it's

(44:20):
a business in my life period and always be twisted
in turns like this. I don't know how to feel
right now, like im ain'xious, but it's shine maybe who
I am. So as you could tell, he was that

(44:41):
last part out of here, shy, shy Chicago. It's shy.
That's what made me what I am. All right, right,
it's his hometown that he was traded away. From he
still was traded, and I'm with you, Rob and that.
I I love players taking their own destiny into their hands,
but do it the right way way. Do it when
you're a free agent, live up to your contract, like

(45:04):
what ad did two years a year White it was
a year and a half left on a contract that
that was just what well And he put hisself in
limbo though by doing that, he put it in because
he did it so early, way too early. But it
got bad advice here. The thing is this. The thing
is this, if they trade you while you're in your contract,

(45:29):
they can do that. We just heard Derek Ross distraught
because he was traded. So if the player wants to
leave before his contracts out, why can't he he can.
I'm just they've traded people because I would trade people
all the time. So you have somebody doesn't want to
play it if he doesn't want to know what you're saying, No,
I just I just think it's more for me. I

(45:51):
just said that it's more about the super team thing.
That's that's what they want to do. Fine, but I
don't like what I'm saying. I don't like it. I
don't like you're not ripping I don't liking that freedom. No,
that's what they want to do, that's fine, but I
don't like it as far as competition. That's what kills
the game for me. That's why I don't like the

(46:11):
NBA like I used to like it. I don't. I
don't want to see the same team every year go
to the finals. It's gone to be great this summer
when the balance comes back, but that's gonna be basic.
But there's only one move that did it. It was
Kevin Durant going to Golden State. Why changed it? Yeah,
but they won two. No, but they waited four years
in a row. They underachieved, underachieved. But my point is

(46:33):
they didn't run through the league underachieved. I think it
wasn't a foregone because Lebron doing that, Miami was gonna
win it every year. There's been one move that's changed that.
That's why Lebron got up on stage and said not one, three,
not four. But that's because he didn't really believed what

(46:54):
he put together. Super I'm just telling they underachieved. Whatever
the read and what he's saying did dominate the league,
and what I say that I really believe it. Yes,
he did believe it. And you know what, it's the
greatest thing in the world that the Warriors and Kevin
Durant did what they did to Lebron because he started
my Space, they started Facebook, and he now is reaping

(47:18):
what he sold. And I love it. I'm glad. I'm
glad that we came back to bite Lebron because he
started it and they finished it. That's fine, that's it.
But I'm just saying there, you talk about you want
competitiveness in the league, It's been competitive except for Kevin
Durant's move to go And I'm not killing Durant for it.

(47:40):
I'm just saying you act like every time a super
team is linked up, the competitiveness has been gone. I'm
just telling you, tell me the one time I gave
you the last time that the team made it to
the finals. That's my point. One team, Well, this is
a team. Don't say Miami no. But I'm just saying
they went four years in the row, and then they
broke up so twice, and then they were in part

(48:01):
because and then Lebron went to eighth straight for where
do you go to eighth strade finals in the East?
You think that's basketball that's that's competition. Come on, that's comical.
That ain't no competition. His greatness isn't It wasn't It
wasn't his It wasn't his great No, it was about
the competition that he faced in the East. That it
was more about that. Yes, why how's that his father?

(48:23):
Because he's the one who caused it. He wrecked to
other teams he by by joining up with those guys
he called. You can say that in Miami. How did
he cause that in Cleveland? I'm just they had Kyrie Irving.
He they made a trade. He orchestrated a trade for
Kevin left. Wain't no super duper star. Yeah, but he
was a star in Minnesota before you got the East

(48:45):
without Kyrie. No, but I'm saying he was a star.
He was. He was a numbers You can backtrack. He
was not the numbers. That's what you say when your
numbers don't lead to the playoffs, they're empty all you
wouldn't you the other day? Be consistent? I am got him.
He's locked in a corner. Folk, I eat brand muffins.
I'm consistent. Not even Kauai. No, don't don't give Kauai.

(49:12):
You want to be consistent. Stop giving him mercy. That's
a clever joke. Most people don't get it because they
don't eat brand muffins. But it makes you consted brand
when the last time you had a brand muffin it's
been a while, But I know what makes you consistent.
But my point is, I look the players. What's good
for the Goose is good. Players can stop saying no,

(49:36):
if at all I do, if the owners can determine
your faith, no, that can't you. That's not determine your faith.
You can't determine your faith. It just means that do
you want to play against some competition? That's all I'm
asking you? Or do you want a cake walk? This
is the au montality I want. Nobody wants to see that.

(49:56):
You want to play the Washington Generals every night? Is
that what you want to Seriously, Okay, nobody wants to
see that. We're about to see the players take their
destiny into their own hands this summer, and it is
going to be tremendous. Kevin durand Kyrie Ever gonna go
to New York, Kawhi Land's gonna go to the Clippers.
It's gonna be awesome. You're gonna have Golden State, Houston,

(50:18):
O kase Uh, the Clippers, Denver, San Antonio not to
around the Milwaukee, Boston will still be relevant, Toronto will
be relevant. Philadelphia and New York all essentially on the
same level. One move, that's what you're talking about. One move,

(50:38):
Kevin Durand going to a seventy three week team. Side
of that, BA has been competitive looper teams and all drop. No,
not at all. Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't
give him one what he calls for something. You do it.
When I ask you for something, you don't look at
me like I'm crazy, because you gotta do it with

(51:00):
some spunk. See, your problem is not yours, your lack
of delivery. I'm following agreement, trying to help you follow
the GEM stage. I'm trying to help you for when
you get on stage. Just because you and Chris have
the same skin color, that's not fair. I'm trying to
keep you humble. That's what I am. Humble. Rob G

(51:22):
said I was the most humble telling he ever worked with.
Really you said that, Dann, I did? I really did
say that. That's ridiculous. Why he's more humble than me? Wow? Yes,
he never walks into a production meeting saying, the champ
is here, thank you. I'm honest. Hold on, humility is

(51:43):
about honest. If Michael Jordan is asked, you know, saying something,
somebody says something about basketball, he says, I was pretty good,
that's not being humble, that's being ridiculous. That's Michael Jordan said, yeah,
you know, I was great. That's just that's shilling the truth.
So you're great to say the champ is here. I'm

(52:04):
just being honest. I'm just telling you what Rob G said.
That's all. I didn't mean to put it out pull
it out tonight, all right. I had to do it.
Make sure you hold that down all the way or something.
All right, how did hear Did they hear that? Hear
that on the level of radio, they didn't hear. Yes,
they didn't. Out here, did you hear? Yes? Slipped through?

(52:28):
See that was Robed G playing with the button. No
why you know why because he was so busy patting
himself on the back of his fingers. Slipped Oh, mister,
every time we walk into meeting, he's got on a
new pair three hundred dollars sneakers or seven hundred dollars
dress shoes, and I just got them. Why are you gonna?

(52:49):
I don't even say anything? Do I bring up? I
must call? He sits there smiling. He sits there with
his feet on top of the desk, smiling, his glasses on.
Look at my new Jordan. These are the brand new ones. Wow,
and I got a fifteen percent discount. You can't tell
Chris anything. I'm not gonna say gonna get my boy five.

(53:10):
You're gonna say where, unbelievable. I'm not gonna say where.
All right, it's the eye couple, Chris Bruce Are and
Rob park Our. NBA stars taking their future into their
own hands? Is that bad for the fans of the league?

(53:31):
It's your turn away. Let me read that over? What
was that is? NBA? Yes, Rewind is NBA stars Grammatically,
I don't know what is NBA stars. I'm just reading.
What I'm seeing is NBA stars taking their future into
their own hands. Bad for the league, Vitilize says, into

(53:53):
their own fans. See see what Robs doing to me,
making me look like the simple one. You know what
I would have done? You know I would read that
and I would know that it was hands and I
wouldn't have read fans, but there is. You got to
get his NBA friends. That's that just seems strange. But anyway,

(54:14):
hit us up a seven seven ninety nine. Fix a
seven seven nine. You get what we're saying is the
is the are the league starts taking their destiny into
their own hands? Bad for the league? Nice? All right,
there you go. We'll can do you the conversation with you.

sixty three sixty nine. Let's start with Mark and Sacramento. Mark,
what's happening? What's going on? Gentlemen with brother. They're real
quick on this taking of their own destiny. They're not
taking their own destiny because they talk up the older
of the team, to older sign them. They can want
to go there for some other has to fill them.

(56:45):
So it's still to the olders. And this thing about
competitive belts. All the owners they feel alway, except the
lord oiler who decides to sign them, whether it be
a golden seveer. Mickey ells out in Miami when we
decided to sign the boss and the Rob, the older
still go Ahead's the thing, Mark, here's the thing. You

(57:06):
Obviously you're right, the owners have to sign them. But
when you're at a certain level, every owner wants to
sign you. If they're in my basketball business, they're gonna
want Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Lebron James and so on,
because they don't care about the league as a whole.
They care about their team, which they should right right right, Rob,
Let me ask you the question. Dec That's how we

(57:28):
felt at the All Star Game? Who traded them and
we couldn't even sell the family? What's that? I couldn't
hear you. So you're Saint Mark. You're you're saying with
the players taking their destiny to their degree, they can
in their own hands a problem with it. I'm just
saying that they really did the solder because it still
takes an owner to sign them. And like I said,
go ask de Marcus Becausers how we felt when we

(57:49):
got traded at the All Star Game and he didn't
even know. That's just sports. Mark, Come on, don't act
like people. People have been traded forever. They've traded. They
traded all the great players. That's not I'm gonna getting marked.
You gotta me totally wrong because I don't know what
you're listening to. I'm not against free agency. I told
you that. You know that, Mark, you don't know what
you're talking about. I'm talking about competitive balance, not about

(58:13):
free agency. If you if you had on a team
for five or six years and you become a free
that's you're right. I'm just saying I don't like it.
I don't like this NBA. I don't understand what you
don't get an home birthplace of Lebron James and Steph Curry.
How about that? Oh hey, what's up here? I'm calling

(58:34):
you know, yeah ahead, yeah, okay, here, I'm with I
get what Rob is talking about. Yes, that's his right,
you i'merstand. But I think that the guys side his
shoes up like everybody else when they go to the pros,
their pro basketball players, and if they can't compete on
that level, then you know they're map that's a now.

(58:55):
But the super teams they gotta go, they gotta go
because he's right, it's it's it's it's just roughing the
balance in the league. It is. It's been one team,
one team. Yeah, but we just it was one team.
But like you, like you said in Miami, you see Lebron,
they went to Miami. They they want it. The first
time they got there, everybody only won two years four
they didn't even underachieved, right, there were a failure in Miami.

(59:18):
But I just think you know, they want to if
the owners to move with players around, I think the
players when their contract is up and if they want
to get out of a city or get out of
a team. Right, we wait, we all agree with that.
The three agents. You have a right to move. That's
not what the argument is. Let's go to Ryan in Indiana. Ryan,
you're on with Chris and Rob. Hey, guys, love the

(59:40):
show Man. Thank you, Bob. I agree with Rob. You know,
I missed the competitive competitive balance that we used to have.
Like like, I'm a huge Indiana Pacers fan, and the
matchups that they had in the playoffs back in the
nineties were incredible. And you know what, even though the
Paciers didn't win a championship, they went in the mix.
The Knicks were in the mix. There were a lot

(01:00:01):
of teams that were in the mix. And that's what
I'm saying, not that you won, but you had a chance.
Now you are. We all knew Houston's in the mid
We all knew that that that that the War is
gonna win the champions the mix beating him six out
championship to show my pick is Golden State. That's just
my pick. Appreciate the call. David in California, you're in

(01:00:23):
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, David,
What's going on? Guy's going on? What's happening? Well, I
got a couple of questions real quick. Love you guys
got us hilarious. Thank you. I just gonna know. I
know you gonna start at four and I love me
some odd couple, but sometimes part to five, four to seven,
four to six, and I let people know you call
me before far and after seven not my man? All right, man, David, Yes,

(01:00:48):
what part of California are you in? Out from Riverst.
Nice man. We appreciate the support. I appreciate that I
got a question and one request. My question is Kawhi
Leonard going to the Clipper. Who do you guys see
as a series candidate that will be joining him? If
he gets anybody? I don't think. I think it'll be Kauwahi.

(01:01:08):
As far as stars supers by himself, I don't know
how interested they are, but it could. Yeah, that's that's
a possibility. I think though. I think if Kawhi goes
to the Clippers, and I know he'll be the only superstar,
I think there'll be a lot like Toronto, There'll be
Toronto West. You know, look at they got some great grinders,

(01:01:31):
not stars, but role players that play hard, that can
shoot you love Patrick, Oh yeah, Montrez Harold, like they
got William Williams off the bench. The best six men.
I mean, Durk Naviski won it as the only star.
Yannis is the only star in Milwaukee, Like if your
game fits with other players, like, chemistry is really important too,

(01:01:54):
so I think it'll mainly be Kawhi. All Right, it's
real tough to be a Lakers fan right now. Legendary
comedian Sinbad knows firsthand. He joins our celebrity corner next,
but first, let's get the dab Carson for the latest
in sports. Dam all right, gentlemen, second round of the
Masters is in the books. Five golfers share the lead

(01:02:16):
seven under par through two rounds. The notables, though just
behind him one stroke back, Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson.
They finished their second round six underpar. Other scores of note,
Phil Nicholson four under, Ricky Fowler is three under, Jordan's
Fief one under par. Rory McElroy is at even par.
Big notable not making the cut for the weekend World
number one ranked golfer Justin Rose. He finished four overpar

(01:02:40):
and missed the cut, so he won't play this weekend
at Augusta. There was a brief weather delay today, but
there are thunderstorms in the forecast for Sunday's final round
at Augusta. NBA Lakers and coach Luke Walton mutually agreed
to part ways College hoops. Marquette guard Marcus Howard the
Big East Player of the Year. He's going to be
back for his senior season, and in the NFL, Vikings

(01:03:00):
gave receiver Adam thiel In a four year extension potentially
worth seventy three million bucks. Your check engine lights met

two's both in the East. At the moment, the Blue

(01:03:22):
Jackets lead at Tampa Bay three nothing, and the Blue
Jackets also lead that series one zip. Islanders came into
tonight's game leading the series one ZIP over the Penguins.
That matchup is scoreless right now at the first intermission.
Notes from Major League Baseball Yankees right now with a
four one lead over the White Sox top of the
fourth in the rainy Bronx bottom of the fifth at Fenway,

(01:03:43):
Red Sox lead the Orioles three nothing, and earlier today
at Wrigley. The Cubs ended the Angels six game win streak.
They beat the Halos five to one. We will be
back with the Odd Couple in ten seconds, but first
a word from Farmers at Farmers Insurance. We know a
roof can withstand a lot. One exception being an a
born car. Seen it covered it, Doctor Farmers. We are

eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The only hard part

(01:04:25):
is figuring out which way is easier. And it's time
for celebrity corners. God, I know for the Odd Couple.
Celebrity corners. I am really excited for this week's celebrity.
I know you are too, Rob. Oh yeah, it is

(01:04:46):
none other than the great actor and comedian and formerly
great basketball player. I don't know how many people knew that,
but sit bad, no man, brother. Then let me take
I'm in a barbershop right now, work more perfect place.
I wanted a woman named Eleanor Wales, one of the
baddest female bastl plays and know more about battle than

(01:05:08):
all of us combined. Wow, he were saying, hello, I
take it here, hold the man. They said hello. They
said hello, Hello, where are you at? What city? I mean?
What was say? Chaps? We're in Chatsworth right now? Okay, okay,
well man, it's great to have you on. And you know,
we have celebrities on every week and we talked sports

(01:05:29):
with him and stuff. But some they may not really
know them that well. You know, you really know, and
you're you grew up a big time Lakers fan, right
or you? Okay, let me have out my history. I
started off with Bill Russell. Let me get my life.
I started off with Bill Russell. When he retired, I
wanted to impression. I tried willis Read for a while,
but I have to go to Will Chamberlin because I

(01:05:51):
love Will, So I went to Will Chamblin. Then when
Will chamber retired, I cried again. I went to college.
I saw a man named doctor Jane Denver. My life
was restored. He retired I saw a man named Michael Jordans.
My life was the story. I said, they getting nobody
this And I saw a man name Lebron James. This
is my last one. This is my last one. I'm

(01:06:12):
riding with so individuals. Yes, but how about I mean
this year, this year with the Lakers has been a stinker.
I mean, could you imagine that Lebron wouldn't make the playoffs? Man? Yeah,
you know what. Let's let me get something straight. We
knew when Lebron Lebron got here, we knew a playoff

(01:06:33):
was a far thing. But Lebron is such a damn beast.
He gave them too much hope. He gave Lincoln fans
too much hope. He get people hope when he got
When he got hurt, it was a chance for the
young boys to step us and show us what they had,
and they did not step up. All right, saying back,
you named a bunch of the all time greats, and

(01:06:54):
and how we do it on the eye couple. We
don't like whishy washiness. We like that answer, right, So
I'm asking you who is the goal? The greatest of
all time? Who is it? Let me ask you this.
We've never talked about the greatest of all time until Magic,
I mean until Lebron and Michael existed. We didn't ask

(01:07:14):
that question when Magic Johnson was alive, I mean playing
in the NBA. And Michael Jordan. We never asked the degree.
We've never seen asked the question with Jordan. I think
we just stated no, but just stating he's the best. Right.
But also remember the other thing too, is we didn't
have twenty four hour sports talk radio stations. We didn't
have no, we didn't we didn't have that debate shows

(01:07:35):
in the morning, right, So that's where that's where that
comes from. But go ahead, and also awesome from the seventies,
we never picked at our top five. We never said
it was the one because there's never one. There's never
only one. Only number one was Muhammad Ali because he's
stiff for more than boxing. So we talked about the
greatest from Micha Ali, Michael, Michael, Yeah, and Michael, and
the goal was was Alis. But I look at Michael Jordan,

(01:07:58):
I will never say not to go. I look at Lebron,
I will never say nothing go. I say go to
different generations, Kevin Garnett and the Wayne Way did that
end together. They said they're the goat of two different generations.
Let me put this way, I put either one of
the guys on the team that's average. Michael never has
super SuperTeams. Lebron never has super super teams. But he
was able to play with anybody make him win. Michael

(01:08:19):
was able to bring those guys gonna make a win.
So to me, they're like, you know, if you love one,
you love them. If you love the other one, you're
just as correct. Sim ain't Kobe, but it ain't Kobe.
Let me do this real quick, So I want I
want to bring you, rope you and bring you in
a little bit. You mean it all right? You you
telling me that the game is on the line at

(01:08:40):
the end of a big game to win, and you
have to pick a guy to take that shot. Is
it Lebron or is it Michael Jordan? Did you just
say he just said el do we lose him? I
think he just hit his all right, here we go.
Sasag hung up on me because I said Lebron. No

(01:09:03):
for me, you said Lebron when you would let Lebron
take the last show between Michael and Lebron. Yeah, okay,
if Cleveland playing Michael take it and the Chicago plan.
Michael gonna take all right, you ain't trying to hide now,
that'll be on different if they're on different teams they
playing each other, he's the one of them gonna take it.

(01:09:23):
If they're on the Lympics, either one of them gonna
take it. All right, Well, do I trust vote like
I said? You miss what I said. Michael is no
more killer than Lebron because how do you go to
the playoffs every year not be a killer? Because they're
a different deman because he talked to people different. There's
a spectrum he's there's a spectrum. He's got as far
as extreme on the spectrum, on the killer instinct spectrum

(01:09:46):
as Jordan. If he's not on the spectrum, that spectrum
because magic magic small. So they didn't smacrom Michaelin't got
no friends now, so you're on the second because Michael
Michael Plins got no NBA friends now, so you're on
the second. I got friends. He's no, he's the boss, yes,
and know what And that's where they don't going to
movies together because nobody will see with the boss of
the movie, I don't see to my friends, all right,

(01:10:08):
let me ask you this. You you said you alluded
to it Kobe. So you're not a fan of Kobe's
I'm a fan of his talent, but not of how
he was as a teammate. I'm not a fan of
of of a lot of things he's I think he's
grown more now after playing ball. But here, no man, Kobe.
Nobody said nobody will play with Lebron? Now? Did nobody
want to come to Lagas? And said Kobe gonna stay?

(01:10:30):
I ain't coming. No, that's true. We talk about the plane.
I ain't gonna coming. Who lets a shot? Get away?
Jesus Christ? Right? But Michael do it? No? Will Lebron
do it? No? Well said back. I want to ask you.
My partner, Ryan Parker is an aspiring comedian. Yes, I
want to five minutes. What what advice can you give him?

(01:10:53):
The best thing to do? Robbie is comedian talking about
what you know? Uh, find you your own place, get
on stage a lot, and realize is that Lebron is
the killer. And if you carry that with you on stage,
if you can carry Lebron in your heart, I think
you'd be all right. Hey, sit bad. I only recognize
one king in these United States, and that's Burger King.
Oh you know what? You know what that is? You

(01:11:14):
know what you're both called king? Or what Michael m King?
Then look y'all gave him the name King James. No,
no that he put that on his back. No, they
puts back because they start calling they call the king.
So let me run with it. Did you miss you
see see the type of jokes he tells though, that
was a joke. Joe, Joe, come on, oh that was

(01:11:34):
a joke. Bad. I thought you just I'm I didn't
know that was your joke. My bad, My bad boy,
I'm hurt, now stand bad? I rob I love, I love. Look, man,
I flew from here. I would take my kids out
of school. They're gonna watch Michael playing. Michael meant that
much to me. Man, I just get mad. I hear

(01:11:56):
people hate. I've never seen the guy's grace from be hated.
Like I'm serious I'm talking about but Michael, the first
years when it wasn't getting championships. Man, people still love,
people still believe in them. But they were people criticizing him.
They saying he just could score. He wasn't like magic
and birds and he couldn't make his own teammates better, right,
you know, but they jumped on the bandwagon right after.

(01:12:17):
But with Lebron someone we even jumped on the backway
and they just I'm not going there. I think with Lebron,
he came out of high school, we got that nine
nine million dollars contract to night. We've never seen them
like that. Let's station. We had never seen a person
actually put up they believed, and he put up well.
He and Rob made a good point that Jordan. You know,
we didn't have the twenty four our seven radio shows

(01:12:40):
and debate shows, so we only remember the shots Jordan made.
Right now, if Lebron misses a shot on the Wednesday
night in its everywhere we seen we debated all day
you with me and Eli said all time before there
was a sports center and twenty four hours the game
will go over. You watch your local news and the
next day you can talk something else. He canna wait

(01:13:01):
to the next season. Now, I was like this the
day after MBA, who were they going next year? Who's
look at three? The game and just got over right,
the baby that's over. That's the truth. No doctor bad,
Where where can we catch you? Where are you gonna
be at soon, tell you know with your comedy like,
I'd love to catch you out here in La robbing out. Definitely,
I'm gonna be. I'm gonna be in LA and June. Man,

(01:13:21):
I'll be at the at the uh What's What's What's
the place I played? I'll be up to the one
on and we'll find hand out. In June, I'm in June,
I'll be three days here, and this weekend I'm in
North Carolina, I mean rawly North Carolina and in South Carolina. Man,
all right, we're gonna try to come check you out.

(01:13:42):
When you're in LA. We'll find out lights can't get
in free, all right. I know it. I knew it.
I knew it. I knew it all look alike, that's
all bad. A handsome man, I I some bad. Thanks man,
we're free shaded, all right? Man? Right on other piece?

(01:14:03):
All right? When it five time All Star speaks, you
should probably listen. That's next. It's The Eye Couple. Fox

address the issue of race in a recent interview with
was it the Athletic and uh Rob G's gonna come
in to kind of summarize what happened. Yeah, he was

(01:15:07):
asking the interview guys if he felt like Mannie Machildo's
reputation would be different if he was a white player.
Insidem Jones respond, He said, one hundred percent. We know
that because some players are called grinders, other players are
called something else. Some players are called pouting, other players
are called passionate. It's all about how you word it.

(01:15:27):
It sucks that certain words are used to describe certain
players and certain words are used to describe others. He's
right on the money, there's no doubt about it. We've
seen it when they talk about heavy players or how
smart they are, and and he's right. He's a grinder,
or he's just passionate about it, you know what I mean,
Like Tom Brady yelled the teammates his passion, passion And

(01:15:52):
if a black quarterback he's a baby, or he doesn't
know how to lie receivers or leadership, you know what
I mean. So there was that kind of stuff that
does go on. Doesn't happen everywhere, not everywhere, but it
isn't in our business, no question. And let look, I
don't think Manny Michildo is the best example. I mean,
because he is doing things. I mean, he's he's said

(01:16:15):
he doesn't hustle. You know, he does take shortcuts. So
but but if he's not the white player was doing
that that blatantly, would he get a pass? I don't know. Um,
I don't think so, not nowadays, but in general I

(01:16:36):
totally agree with Adam Jones, But I think Manny Michildo
does do some things that are worthy of criticism. Well,
when he said he's not and he said it wrong.
Charlie Hustle is the right, right, right, Charlie Hustle Pete
Rose that was his nickname. Um, yeah, so I'll agree
with you Chrits on that. But I think that more
often it's I got a perfect example of things that

(01:16:59):
you know what this relates to me, the same exact thing.
So I'm working at the Daily News in New York
and I think some paper in New Jersey or Philadelphia
wanted me. I was at that point. I was just
general assignment. So I haven't gotten a beat yet, general assignment.
And I was this new guy that you know, twenty
two years old working at the paper. So some guy
calls my boss to inquire about me, and Chuck wound

(01:17:25):
up telling me this U Chuck Slayder, who was the
assistant sports utter. He said, this guy had the nerve
to say, well, I have heard that he's lazy. That's exact.
And Chuck said, excuse me, He said, who have you
talked to? Because they don't know anything. He said, Now
you were brand new too, he said, Not only is
this kid working full time? Right, maybe I was a

(01:17:49):
year into it, but for waying full time. He goes
to Columbia full time lazy? How dare you even bring
that up? He was? He was. He told me to
not go to that place, to not talk to them,
because this is what the guy asked me, if you
were that he heard I was lazy? Wow, based on nothing,
And I think that's that's throwing it out, just throwing

(01:18:10):
it out. Well, you know what we as African Americans
and the horrible we always say when a when a
black person does something negative, like in the public eye,
Black people are always you know, just like, oh, I
wish he hadn't a brother, and he wasn't. I wish
it wasn't a brother because we know that all of
us are gonna get painted with that bra brush. Whereas

(01:18:32):
when a white guy does something negative, did nobody thinks guy,
look at a lot of the you know, shootings and things,
nobody says all white guys are going around shooting up
schools and they shouldn't. But when a black guy doesn't around,
nobody should say all black guys are doing this or that.
And I think there are in sports, especially certain people

(01:18:53):
get Robinson Cano earlier on was considered lazy because he
has a he had a las fair way about him,
but he played hard but he made it look so
easy and you know the way he would go about it.
That was the knock on him that he was lazy.
Other than you know, before the steroid thing. This guys

(01:19:14):
was on track for Hall of Fame with his number. No,
he was saying before he went to Seattle, right, and
he still had it. No, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah,
just he fell off the map. Yeah, because he's playing
out but he got paid. Yeah, he got his money
the Yankees, off of them. They undercut him, so they did.
But but and Adam Jones is also the guy who
went to Boston. You remember the player word, He was

(01:19:35):
in the outfield, so he's been around for a long time.
He's not a guy to just throw stuff out who
doesn't have any credibility. If Adam Jones is putting that
out there, I'm saying, for the most part, he is
correct on how people are paying. I agree. Look, and
I like this guy, but grunk. Yes, he's a frat boy,

(01:19:56):
is he? Yeah? And he's it's always and again it's fine,
it's always you this positive. Right. Oh, he's having so
much fun and you know he's partying and he's on
the play. Love it. But when a black player is
doing that. He's he's tripping right, you know he doesn't
he doesn't care enough for you know, he's not invested. Yeah,

(01:20:17):
he's too busy having a good time. He ain't really
into it, right, and he ain't a grinder that that
term grinder too, that means usually a guy who's not
that good. But but they give him that tag. Yeah,
he's about in two twenty, but he's a grinder. You
know what a black guy back two twenty is. He's
about a leaguer. He's a grinder. He stinks. So there's

(01:20:37):
a lot of that that goes on. And uh, I
don't have a problem with him bringing it out and
talking about it. No, not to talk about the conversations
like this are what is going to lead to a change. Yes,
And you can't be afraid to have the conversations. And
you can't be afraid to get uncomfortable, right, black or white,
you can't be afraid to be offended or to you know,

(01:20:59):
have the he's tough conversations, but one percent right, it'll
never get people if you're afraid to talk about it.
And acil Love Skippist always say this, He's always say
it's not racist. Like whenever we were talking about about race,
he said, it's racial, but it ain't racist. And I
agree with Skill. A lot of people have seen even

(01:21:20):
say to me they think Skipper is racist. I'm like, no, Skip,
is that rare white guy who's who's willing to talk
about race or national TV one ain't afraid. We talk
about about all the time with the Eye Couple crew,
we talk about race. That doesn't mean it's racist. Rob
g doesn't get it, but that's the truth. You can
have a conversation about race without it being racist. Fox

Rob gonna be a fun weekend. He's only one back
wow from the leaders at the master wake, wake me
when they make the turn. Let me see what's going on.
Then you got that. You got the NBA Playoffs finally

(01:22:26):
are here starting tomorrow, one of the best times of
the year. I'm excited because it's a lebron less lebron
less playoffs. Finally. Yeah, we'll be able to hear about
other players from them making their job stop. I love it.
And then Luke Walton of course figured or that they
mutually agreed to part fired. He got fired. Just just

(01:22:49):
call it what it is. Let me, you had the
job yesterday and today you don't have the job. What happened?
Did Magic get fired? Magic didn't get quit? All right? Luke?
Maybe Luke went in and saying I am the clear
cut front runner for the Sacramento King's job. I'm out
of here. That good. We want you out of here.
That's a mutual parting of the ways. All right. We

(01:23:11):
got a new segment. We're gonna be bringing it to
you every week during the baseball season. It is called
foul or fair that ball is. It was a big
week in the big League. Who's alive? Is it foul
or is it fair? And now here's the odd Couple

(01:23:35):
with former MLB veteran Rod Allen. Rod, Welcome to the
Eye Couple. Run. How are you hey? What's up? Rob? Chris?
How y'all doing? Man? We're pleased to have you joining
us with this segment every week, every other week, every
other week. We appreciate it, Rod, we love it. It's
gonna be fun. What the why is it called fair

(01:23:57):
or foul? To the fair and fact? Because we wanted
to do it at different I know everybody is normally
fair foul I said the same thing, Rod, I no, Rod,
do you know what it is? When when when we
were in Detroit, I used to write a column with
Tom Gage and we used to call the foul affair
because my picture was first, so I was fouled. So
that's why I wanted to keep the same. Everything we

(01:24:20):
do on this show is from every I'm learning more
every week. No that well, all I know is uh.
Rod Allen is one of the best at being an
analyst in baseball. Of course, he played in the major leagues,
was on that nineteen eighty four World championship, UH Detroit
Tigers team. So Rod, great to have you in and

(01:24:41):
let's get started, all right, Rob g all right, guys,
let's get right too. And now this way, this way,
the segment works, and I'm gonna give you a few
MLB topics. You guys, let me know if it's foul
or fair. Will start off with Rod first, because he's
the expert here. You guys are just a couple of yes,
regular Joe's here. Now, let's get started. I like Rod
gr I like topic number one, Gentleman Orioles. First baseman

(01:25:05):
Chris davis hitler streak is up to fifty three at
bats as a Thursday. Now. He has a reputation for
being a home run hitter, and that's one of the
biggest reasons why he got that hundred and sixty plus
million dollars contract in twenty sixteen. So Rod, here's the question.
Would it be foul or fair for Davis to bunt
to break the streak even though he's viewed as a
home run hitter. Oh, I'm a former hitting coach, and

(01:25:28):
I'm all for my guy getting that big hit. You know,
that'll get him jump started. So then maybe he'll start
to feel comfortable and take some better swings. But not
for Chris, not in this situation. I mean, he's got
to play it out. As far as I'm concerned, you've
got to get that hit. I've been watching them on
TV's pressing a lot, but it looks like he's getting closed.
It's not gonna be that much longer before he gets

(01:25:49):
that big hit. But obviously his contract comes into play.
But in this situation, I say, no bunk. But if
it was like ten over thirteen something like that, I
would say go ahead and do it. But not now
it's too late. You gotta plan out, Ita, Chris David,
I'm gonna say it's fair. Oh for fifty three? Are
you kidding me? Rod? It's unbelievable. Just do something different.

(01:26:13):
Maybe you get a chuckle out of your teammates, Maybe
it loosens you up a little bit. People go, he's
been struggling. I Kim, I've never seen a guy go
for fifty three, But I'm like, why not? Why not
mix it up? Because he ends it with a bunt,
and that's what he'll be remembered and get a home
run and nobody never remember. He may never hit it.
He's been even trying that for weeks. I'm with Rob

(01:26:35):
Parker here, Rob, it's fair. You look everybody acts like
a bunt isn't a base hit, it's a hit. He
needs to cross first base. He needs to see him
you know how they say with a basketball player, you
need to see one go through the bucket. He needs
to touch first base, sprint it out. He will feel
much better about himself if he can get on a base.

(01:26:57):
And wait, wait, wait, wait wait, I thought I was
a base far you are we can would keep you on. No,
but no, not, I'm spirt. No, this is the Eye Couple. Baby,
all right, guys, it is Fouler Fair, the Eye Couple
of Fox Sports Radio, joined by former a Major league

(01:27:17):
outfielder Rod Alan Rodd. Question number two year. According to Forbes,
for the first time in history, the average value of
an NBA team is worth more than the average value
of an MLB team by about two hundred million dollars.
So well, when I first looked at this, I thought
it was kind of a trick question, because, well, here's

(01:27:39):
what you're talking about. You're talking about it. You're talking
about a young kid that grew up in Santa Monica, California,
and went to Dodger Stadium as a kid growing up
and then has been in professional baseball from forty two
straight years. I mean, come on, I don't care how
much money they make in the NBA. I don't care
MLB is it for me all day? Now for yours.

(01:28:00):
You asked the question, rob Let, So here's the question.
Is it foul or fair to say that basketball has
surpassed baseball as the second most popular sport in America?
I already told you, already went to my spiel. I
saw the question. It's no way, and possibly it has
passed it, but not in my mind, Baseball will always
be that sport for me, always, always, It's fair. Basketball

(01:28:25):
has laughed, Baseball facing it is no longer America's pastime. Nobody.
Everybody wants to be like Mike, Michael Jordan, not Mike Trout.
It is all about the NBA baby, who's getting the commercials,
who's getting the most Instagram followers, who's getting the most
Twitter followers. It's about putting it in the hoop. I'm sorry,

(01:28:47):
I know you don't. You already know. I'm not with
Chris foul. It's the most ridiculous thing. And yes, and
here's the box. Here's why the NBA gotta ridiculous. They
tripled their TV deal, which made them more valuable. But
it's not about the popularity. That's why they have a

(01:29:09):
their Their money is gone up because ESPN tripled their
TV deal and didn't do that because they were afraid
to lose it. No, it has nothing to do with that.
And you know what that was. I knew that was
Christmas question. I know that, though I say that must
have been. And Rod, here's the other one. Major League Baseball.
So seventy three million tickets a year, more than the NBA,

(01:29:31):
more than the NFL, hundreds more than the NHL combined,
more than all three They played so many games. That's
why topic number three, Topic number three. Yet not yet.
I will be out. He ain't been there in three years.
He don't go there. No, we went two years ago.
And I liked baseball. I just love basketball, all right, guys.

(01:29:53):
Foul Fair the couple of Fox Sports Radio, joined by
former Major leagu Baseball I fielder Rod Allen Rodd last
question for you year. Through the first few weeks of
the season, the Dodgers bullpen has a five point three
seventy RA that's ranked twenty first in the league. Now
that Dodgers their free agent acquisition reliever Joe Kelly has
an era over thirteen. Is if foul or fair to

(01:30:15):
say that the Dodgers should pull the plug on the
Joe Kelly experiment and just make a run at Craig
kimber Oh, absolutely not. I'm all on Joe Kelly. I
mean two words track records. I mean, look no further
than what he did last year in the postseason against
the Dodgers. I mean, all of them strike out one
hundred mile power of fastball. It might take a little

(01:30:36):
bit of an adjustment for him. I mean he's living
at home now for the first time in a long time.
He went high school there, college there, so there might
be some distractions as far as that's concerned. Kimberon's not
going to go anywhere and set up. So I'm all
in on Kelly. I mean, see if he can figure
it out, because lately he's been one of the best

(01:30:57):
set up men in baseball other than that kid they
got in the in mil Walk You. So I'm all
in on Joe Kelly. So Nope, I'm not gonna pull
the plug on him, and uh, Jampan probably don't want
kim doing that bull either. I say it's foul. I'm
with you, Rod, it's foul. No way. Oh no, you're
not agree with me, are you, Rob? I am agreeing
with you. There's no way that you pull a plug.
It's so early, debate. This is two and a half weeks.

(01:31:19):
Guys go through this to get a chubby lay early on.
He's a good picture, he has a track record. You
gotta let him work his way out of it. You
don't pull a plug on a guy who has done
the work that Joe Kelly has done. Right after after
schooling you on the first two questions, I'm gonna take
it easy on you. I agree this is foul. It's

(01:31:40):
too early. I mean, come on, get guys. This happens
all the time, whether it's a hitter or a picture.
You start this season slow, you're getting the slump at
some point in the season. You don't pull the plug
on a guy that's quickly. All right, guys, foul a fair,
Thank you so much coming on the second ride. That's why. Yeah,
I don't think you guys have me back over again.
Won all three of them. I don't expect to be back. No,

(01:32:03):
you're gonna be back all you know that we just
get started. We appreciate it. Man, definitely. Hey, thank you
so much, Rob, thank you Rod. All right, Rob Parker
has zero sympathy for the now unemployed Luke Walton. Zero.
I guarantee you if Luke Walton played baseball, Oh, he'd
have tons of simply nah crying crocodile tears for Luke Wandon.

(01:32:26):
You know that's true. He'll tell us why he's got
no sympathy for my man, Luke. It's the I Couple,
Fox Sports Radio zero. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar and Rob Parker
weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. At Farmers Insurance,

Chris Russide and Robert. I used to see Rob be

(01:33:07):
here dancing. That was you you ready for the weekend?
I see, and your wife been't even in town. You
got some nerve? What what do you suggestive? What what
you gotta go wild on Friday. Now I'm gonna go
home and I'm gonna watch American Soul Soul Trained story. Okay,

(01:33:28):
I got a few episodes to catch up on. I've
been watching. It's pretty good. Doc Cornelius was a big
man that you know, for us stuff that was that
was he was revolution he was revolutionary. That was a
part of our childhood, a part of our life. I
mean I watched Soul Train every Saturday. Yeah, nah, no question.
That's where you learn how to dance up. All right,

(01:33:49):
We brought to you by Makeo the Eye couple. You
might not be able to get a new car with
your tax refund, but you can't make your old car
feel like it's brand new. All it needs is a
great pain job. Come in to Makeo today and get
your dream paying job during their tax season sales events.
All right, Rob, you just you cold blooded man? What

(01:34:10):
you got? No remorse, no sympathy, no love for Luke,
like the man just lost his job. I'm not that now.
I don't want to make it like I'm the worst
side in the world. And I think, uh that he
shouldn't have some sympathy. Obviously he leaves with money, but
you're about to brand him with one of the oats.

(01:34:30):
But no, I just think nicknames. I just think he's
one of the most overrated NBA and the to do
over him it's just mind boggling. So you don't have
a nickname for I just took the night off on that.
But I'm just saying the the mo coat, what is that?
Mott the most overrated coach? The co I mean he

(01:34:57):
I used to a right, I called Jim Harbor that
for college. But but but I just don't get like
all the poor Luke wall Seriously, when he filled in
for uh Steve, Steve Kerr in Golden Golden State. Let's
just be honest. Anybody anybody could do that. I mean,

(01:35:18):
let's see, come on, I mean anybody. And you know
they used to play around and remember what Steve Kerr
they were. He would give them the clipboard and say, yeah,
go ahead, make up a play. They were like clowning people.
They didn't didn'tknew that they didn't need any coaching. And
then with the Lakers, with the young guys, I don't
tell me what he's famous for and what Luke does,

(01:35:39):
I don't know. I'm asking you because I haven't seen it.
I don't know what it. What you're saying, let's see
hear what his former coach, head coach lucas an assistant
Steve Kerr said about Luke's firing, dismissal, parting of the
ways disappointing for Luke. Uh, this job as a coach
in the NBA dependent on your circumstances, the strength of

(01:36:04):
your organization, of the momentum unity. Everything has to be
in good order because if it's not, that we witnessed
with the Links, he's gonna be casualties. And usually the
coach is the first one. Well, well, I disagree with
a few things he said. Number one, I would not

(01:36:24):
say one hundred percent dependent. Now, obviously you need good players.
If you don't have a good play If you don't
have good players, I don't know how much you need
good players. And you need a you know, it's good
to have a solid front office that backs you. But
I wouldn't say, like you, the coach does have some value.

(01:36:46):
Look at Kenny Atkinson in Brooklyn. Do they have a
ton of talent? Look at Brad Stevens last year in
the playoffs without Kyrie every did they have a ton
of talent. I'm not gonna sing Brad Stevens praises because
this year he hasn't been good. No, but I'm just
saying there are coaches that can, you know, make a difference.
Fidale that did that say that about his coaching. I

(01:37:08):
mean they had the worst season. Again. The only thing
is I'm saying it's not you are dependent on you
no matter how good. Fisdale was a good coach. That's
one reason that I've said, Luke is you know would
be the scape girl. I'm not saying he's a great coach.
I'm just saying he wasn't the problem like all these

(01:37:29):
people all they just need a new coach. No, they
need to be healthy number one. That was number one. Now,
Luke All, I'm saying about Lucas he's a young coach,
and you're right, Rob, he didn't like the world on fire. No,
I'm not gonna I'm not gonna blame him for Julius
Ramdall going to New Orleans and playing well and D'Angelo

(01:37:50):
Russell doing the same thing in Brooklyn, because, to be honest,
I don't know that they I don't think they would
have room to do that in La with Lebron. You know,
you can only have so many twenty points scores. You
already have Lebron, Ingram and essentially Kuzma, so they might
not have a room they even score those types of points.
But um, I just think I'm not surprised at all

(01:38:10):
he's gonna get another shot. I think he deserves another shot.
To your point, he hasn't lit the world on fire,
but he also hasn't shown you he doesn't know what
the heck he's No, I'm not, and I'm not saying that.
I'm just saying that a lot is being made out
of a guy who you know, wins thirty five games
or thirty seven games a year. That's all it's for you.

(01:38:31):
And I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a second chance,
or he can't coach at all or whatever. But to
Boo Hoo and him about Luke Walton, I think a
lot of it is personal that they like him. They
just like him. He's a great guy from everything I've
heard his dad. His dad is a big time Hall
of Fame player who may has an imprint in the league.
I get all that he's a good looking kid. You know,

(01:38:54):
when you add all these things, he's nice to people.
I mean, I got to be honest. I think the
only boohooing has come from Genie Buss. Now, of course
Steve Kerr's gonna say that because Steve Kerr was his
mentor get you know, but really think about it, is
anybody is there a ton of boo who he magic
wanted to fire him? Lebron's people made it clear they

(01:39:16):
want him out. Um. I've talked to people around the
league executives who now there are something to think. He's
a good young coach and he doesn't deserve this. But
there's others that are like, he needs to go right.
So I think Genie and this is we get back
to it. It's the whole problem with the Lakers right now.
Too much love and you're he's a son, he's a brother,

(01:39:36):
Like what if he like that? It's just unless they're
really related to you. And even then sometimes that's why
nepotism is has looked out the right. You know what
I mean? It does go, It goes another thing we
talked about with the racial component. Whites get away with.
Plenty of nepotism is all over professional sports, right, isn't it?

(01:39:57):
But when Billy Hunter and his son working for the
NBA a few years ago that became a problem. Please
nepotisms all over. And Rod Marinelli was the head coach,
his son in law was a defensive coordinator. Right, And
he answered asked a great question, larious, do people remember

(01:40:18):
that we set the stage? Oh? Look at you? You
want to go into It was a great that was funny.
It wasn't eat more jokes like that. You have the stage, Rob?
What now? Rod Marinelli was coaching the line. This is
the year that they went over in sixteen, right, okay?
And the game was they had the Saints had scored

(01:40:39):
on every offensive possession everyone and the only one they
score the game you remember sixty. I mean they scored
like every time and the only time they didn't score
was when they kneeled down. I think you know the
clock is ticking down. They just kneeled down because it
would have been rubbed it in their face to try
to score there at the twenty yard line or something
like that. They just knew down. And as you said, Rod,

(01:41:01):
Mary Nelly the head coach, and it's his son in law,
the defensive coordinator, right, And I have been on Rod
the whole year from the standpoint that I was like, Rod,
how do you evaluate your son in law? You used
to ask him questions like that, how do you evaluate
your son in law's job? Is he doing a good job?

(01:41:22):
I would ask him after games? Are you gonna fire
your son in law today? I might swear? So, I
thought to myself, while he hadn't give me an answer,
I've tried it all year. I'm gonna try to ask
him something on a lighter note to see if I
might get a funny quote. That's really what my when
I went into it. So then everything went on and
I even said it if you had a quote, it
was on a lighter note. That's what I started with,

(01:41:44):
on a lighter note. Do you wish your daughter would
have married a better offense defensive coordinate? At all? Hell
broke list? I remember they played it on espous and
you said he really wasn't mad. He wasn't mad at
me after the fact. But but then when the Terry
Bradshaw those guys went crazy on, I mean didn't didn't

(01:42:05):
everything paper got mad. I was like, having did It
was like two two three hours later, So yeah, and
then all of a sudden, you know, what I mean
when it's pushback, people are emailing the paper from all
over the country because they show it on fire. Now
it look it's all over the league. Donnie Nelson Senior
was in Dallas, who runs the Dallas basketball operation. Donnie

(01:42:27):
Nelson Junior. You know it's it's I mean, we could
go on and on, but yeah, So the Lakers, I
think Jeanie's really the only one boohoo and over Luke.
I just said, well, I'm just saying he looks like
he's going to get hired in uh, Sacramento. That's why
they made up a coaching change despite what he did.
I know, but that's in Jager. Like Yager, I've heard things.

(01:42:51):
You know, he's an intense guy, like he rubbs some
people the wrong way. He's not a bad coach man.
That's the best record in fourteen fifteen years years he
won in Memphis. He's you know, turning him around in Sacramento.
He'll get a job too somewhere, all right. With Luke
Walton out of the picture, who is the favorite to
take over as the next coach of the Lakers. Are

Behind the Book Jay You, I'm good? How's it going?
Thlla has been a good weekend Masters. There's a lot

(01:46:05):
of fun, a lot of guys tired as the top man.
It is interesting. And let's start right there. When Tiger
Woods is in the hunt, how does it, you know,
shape things in Vegas When he's got a chance to win.
Oh yeah, I mean it creates a lot more wagering excitement.
You know everyone. Uh, we had a baseball game on

(01:46:27):
early in the day and then it was all it
was all Masters after that. I mean every TV was
switched to the Masters. But you know, he he makes
it a lot more exciting because I mean, I mean,
the guy does amazing things with a golf club in
his hand. And um, I mean that that little incident today,
I don't know if you guys thought where the security
guard almost wiped him out. Yeah, he gave him a

(01:46:48):
flat tire. Yeah you make that. You give that two
more seconds and you could see probably like a Joe
Siseman type injury mapped in sibula. You know, I mean,
what how insane that have been? Yeah, that's security goal
was way too close and then of course it was slipped.
We so he slipped, but yeah he was. He was
on his heels. I don't get that. Yeah, ropes and stuff.

(01:47:11):
I mean, come on, I mean, there's got to be
a better way to control the crowd than than trying
to do that. But anyway, I mean it's great. I mean,
we have a logjam at the top. We've got a
ton of you know, all these favorites at the top
or are are creating a you know, really good wagering
opportunity actually, because generally, if you have a runaway favorite,
you know, I mean, the wagering opportunity is pretty pretty tough.

(01:47:31):
But right now we've got you know, two co favorites
with Copeca and DJ at five to one, and then
like four guys at six to one, and you guys
are all like major winners too. So um, I mean,
this is what the Master is supposed to be about.
It's a lot of fun. So do you think betters
are just gonna start throwing money down on Tiger? Well,

(01:47:53):
I mean Tiger at six to one right now, the
way he looked today, if he can pull out a
third round that looks similar to what he did today, absolutely,
I mean, I think we're gonna see a lot of
people putting money on Tiger today. I think we're gonna
see a lot of people coming in on Dustin Johnson
at five to one. Two play nice and steady. But
you know what that does is where we got all
these guys logged up at the top, creates a lot

(01:48:14):
of value for guys further down down the list. I mean,
you know, six strokes out of it in the Masters
isn't really that much out of it with the two
days ago. And I think guys like you know, um,
Bryce d Schambau has been playing really well. He's thirty
five to one, Rory's forty to one. Um, you know,

(01:48:37):
Ricky's twenty one and ye as you guys all know tomorrow,
you know they call Saturday moving day for a some
of these guys are going to really go out there
and press and put up a big number. And you know,
if you if you catch one of these guys on
this list, you know, down down the list here like
Tommy Fleetwood, who is an outstanding player you know in Europe.
He's he's won a bunch and he's he's a guy

(01:48:57):
that everyone expects to come through. He's eighty till one.
So I mean, um, there's a lot of value out
there if you find the right guy. But it's more
than that. It's just a lot of fun. It's a
great wagering opportunity. Hey, j we gave our NBA playoff
predictions earlier in the show and don't don't fall over.
But I have the nets up setting. The seventy six
is in the first round. I'm really concerned about Joel

(01:49:20):
uh and Beads knee injury. What kind of odds can
I get in Vegas on that? Oh, the nets in
the first round. I believe we've got let me pull
him up here real quick. Um, I think we have
him at I want to say eight to one something
like that right now, that's it, eighty one, eight to one.

(01:49:42):
I mean we've got we've got the Golden State, Wars
and and UH and the Clippers at a pretty good price.
You can get the Clippers UH at about fifty to
one right now. But I was trying to retire on
that Nets. Bet, I don't know about eight to one.
I ain't that much. We might be able to get
you the Caribbean. Maybe not retire all right, And I
already mentioned them be being banged up, But so are

(01:50:04):
guys like Steph Curry, Blake Griffin up the three. Which
one you think moves to line the most? Oh? Curry absolutely,
I mean you know that's that, that's without saying. I
mean he's he's probably one of the most influential players
on the court right now. So I mean he's if
he's in, if he's out, I mean that's probably a
three and a half point swing on a point spread

(01:50:24):
alone in an individual game. It's the I Couple. We're
joined by Jay Rude, the MGM Resorts VP of Race
and Sports. All right, j the big story of the
day was Luke Walton getting let go by the Lakers,
and a lot of folks are expecting Tylu to take
his place. Do you have odds posted at the MGM
on the Lakers next coach? And if so, who do
you have in Vegas as the favorite? Um, we don't.

(01:50:48):
In in Nevada, we're not really able to, uh, you know,
bet on things that don't happen on the court. And uh,
but I would say, um, you know, Tyl Lou. I
don't know if he would come in, but I would
think that they would want a little bit stronger personality
that can handle the front office just as well as
he can handle the players. I think they're gonna have

(01:51:10):
to find someone that fits that bill. And I'm not
sure Tyler is the guy, because you know, he'll come
in and had handle the locker room. But ye as
you y'all know, I mean, that's only half the equation
with the Lakers, no doubt about it. All Right, So
I read that the State of New Jersey, but in
thirty million dollars in revenue last month on March Madness.

(01:51:33):
How well did you guys do at the MGM. I
know you guys must have cleaned up as well. But
thirty million into the coffers at State of New Jersey
there's a lot of money. That's a lot of money.
You know, we had a great March Madness. I mean
it was not as good as last year. Last year
was really really solid. Last year we held as a
company almost twelve percent on every dollar wager and into

(01:51:55):
March Madness this year we did slightly better than seven.
So and and if you look at you know, generally
a point spread when that has a minus one ten
attached to it, the theoretical hold on that is four
point five four percent. So we held nearly double what
the theoretical hold is, which is always a really good thing.
But more than that, I think we provide an opportunity

(01:52:17):
for people to come out and just have an outstanding
time when they come to Vegas for March Madness. Those
first four days are days that guys literally look forward
to for the entire year. They they schedule their work, schedule,
their vacation schedule. You know, guys get together that went
to school, you know, over the years and they've literally

(01:52:37):
this is their one trip where you know, it's guy's
weekend and they show up a year after year after year,
and you know that's what it's all about. I mean
sports wagering. Everyone you know thinks it's big money, big
this big that it's it's about fun and having a
camaraderie and you know, trying to beat me basically, Jay,
I've read earlier today that the Clippers are the largest

(01:52:58):
first round underdogs in over thirty years at one hundred
to one. So that got me to thinking, like, what's
the biggest upset to hit the MGM that you can
remember in any sport? Um, Well, I mean there's been
a few. Uh you know, we had uh recently one
of the you know, I mean not recently, but I mean,
you know, Manny Pacy out getting beat by uh uh

(01:53:20):
in the third match with um Dinah. I believe it
was was a really big upset force. But I mean,
you know, their pockets everywhere. The first safety in the
Super Bowl is you know, like one hundred to one
payout and that happened two three times. When when you
know Manning uh got got sacked in the in the
end zone when Tom Brady when they had holding in

(01:53:42):
the end zone, that was like one hundred to one payout,
which was easily seven eight hundred thousand. We were stuck
in the hole right off the bat. But um, probably
one of the biggest most recent UH losses that we've
ever had was was when Holly Holme beat Ronda Rowsy
down in Australia. Yeah. Um, that was a I mean,
she was she was the most dominant figure in sports

(01:54:05):
at that point in time. I mean, she was, you know,
dominating everyone, and she was I think, uh, I want
to say an eighteen to one dog. Holly Holmes was
at the high point and we closed her at six
to one, so we absolutely, you know, just hemorrhaged cash.
So wait a minute, that many people were betting her
even though she was a big time under dogs like that, absolutely,

(01:54:28):
I mean there was a lot of people that knew
a lot of things about Holly Holmes and her stand
up game and the way that she could defend against
Ronda Rousy and you know, I mean it kind of
came to fruition. For two or three fights after that,
Rona never looked the same. And you know, now she's WrestleMania, right,
all right, Jay, great stuff as all ye man, all right,

(01:54:51):
sounds good, guys, enjoy the Masters. It's gonna be epic yep,
all right. If things go the way I expect him to,
it's gonna be a great spring. The Greek Freak Alex Waine.

Rob Parker. I'm now you a baseball guy. Just remind

(01:56:03):
you a first thing to come to your mind. Nineteen
seventy six Pittsburgh Stealers, seven seventy seventy nine, Pittsburgh Willie Stargell,
Dave Parker. How do I know more than you? I was.
I just I just jumped together. I knew that that
was it. That was excuses, excuses, that was this song.
I should know that you would never get me on
an NBA topic like that. Oh yeah, waiting, I told

(01:56:25):
you the Lakers wouldn't make the playoffs. All right, We'll
played well, play you. You'll never get those way, all right, Rob,
I'm gonna give you my as. You know, you're an
official voter for the Baseball Hall of Fame, and I
take it very serious. Yes, And now I do the same.
I'm an official voter for the NBA Awards, And so

(01:56:46):
I finished. It takes a while, especially when you take
it seriously. So I finished my ballot today, send it
in a few hours ago, and here it is, all right,
the most valuable player you vote for five people. At
number five, I had Paul George at number four, Steph
Curry at number three, Nicola Jokic at number two, James Harden.

(01:57:09):
So you know who's the winner number one MVP this year,
Yannis i Tecti coon Pole one long, stop it, you
got it wrong? Stop it? James Harden. And you know
what when they did that poll with the players, guess
who they picked James Harder, James. You know what we

(01:57:31):
think of the players, most of the little player. I'm
just gonna give the one Pascal Siakam in Toronto, Defensive
Player of the Year number three, Paul George number two,
Rudy Gobert number one, Yannis Antecta coon Pole. That's right,
MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. Wow, Michael Jordan

(01:57:51):
did it? Who had one other player? Did it? Michael Jordan?
And I can't think of that. Robs you'll find it.
Who came possibly bright be a king, but Rob you
will find it out, Okay. Sixth Man of the Year
number three, Spencer Dinwitty Brio Brooklyn Nets number two, Demontis Sabonis,

(01:58:15):
Indiana number one. Winner of the sixth Man of the
Year award. According to me, Lou william Lou Williams is
a bad boy. He's a bad boy. What a pleasure
to have a guy coming off the bench with that
kind of firepower. Yeah, it was like came Eli Juan
joining Michael Jordan is the only MVP and Defensive Player
of the Year same year and Greek Freak. Now, and

(01:58:36):
here's the reason I picked Greek Freak over Rudy Gobert
because Greek Freak is more versatile, can guard point guards
all the way up to sinners. Gobert is the best
rim protector in the league, and he's tremendous, but obviously
he doesn't have the versatility of Jannis. Rookie of the
Year number three, DeAndre Ayden, number two, Trey Young and

(01:58:59):
the winner of the Rookie Year Award, Luca don Chi.
I agree with this only from and I know Trey
Young came on at the end, but let's be fair, Uh,
Luca was great all year, right, right, he didn't from
the beginning. Coach of the Year, I want to hear
your thoughts on this. Number three, Doc Rivers. This was

(01:59:20):
a tough one because you had Nate McMillan in Indiana,
you had Kenny Atkinson and Brooklyn. You had some guys
that did some really good jobs. But Doc Rivers the
number three with the Clippers, Mike Malone number two with Denver,
and then Mike Bootenhoser with Milwaukee. Yeah that time with
the sixteenth best record in the league. Last year, now

(01:59:40):
they had the first mont. I would take Mike Malone
from this townpoint. Yeah, you know, they only won last
year they won forty six or you know, and it
didn't make the playoffs. But this year I just thought,
I really thought like they turned the corner. Like you know,
they they're a bodable and up until the last couple
of games, they had a chance to be the numb
number one seed in the West, and I think that

(02:00:01):
was amazing. Well, we'll see that this has nothing to
do with the playoffs, you know, the regular season awards,
but we'll see how viable they are, you know, in
the playoffs. If they do like you said and went
around or two, that's legit. Are we doing All NBA
team now? Uh? Yeah, I'll go with my All NBA.
My first team is pretty obvious. Yannis Kevin Durant at
the forwards, Joe l Embiid at the center, and Steph

(02:00:23):
Curry and James Harden at the garden. Well that This
is where it gets a little interesting. Second team forwards
Paul George and Lebron James. A lot of people where's Kauhai?
Here's why. Look, I didn't reward Kauai for taking twenty
two games off for rest rob. I look, and if

(02:00:43):
Kauhi played seventy games, or if he missed games because
of injury, he would have been over Lebron. But I'm sorry,
and I know he played sixty games. Lebron played fifty five.
But Lebron was legitimately hurt twenty two games for injury.
I can't reward that. You're twenty seven years old, you
played nine games last year. What are you're resting for?

(02:01:08):
You know you agree with me? You don't most management?
All right, all right, you do agree? See, um, I
had not hurt right Yoki as the center, Damian Lillard
and Russell Westbrook as the guards. Now I had to
make a tough decision. I have Kyriego on the second
team thirteen, Kawhi Leonard and Blake Griffin at the forwards,

(02:01:28):
Rudy Gobert as a center over Karl Anthony Towns and
LaMarcus Argy. That was a tough one over all Dridge
and at the guards by Kyrie Irving and Clay Thompson.
Clay was tough. I picked him over Donovan Mitchell and
Utah Bradley Bill and he averaged twenty as always does
play great defense, as he always does, shot like forty

(02:01:51):
seven percent and forty from three. Just that you didn't
hear a lot about him. Well he's that quiet third guy,
you know what I mean. Like, but he's he's awesome.
So those were my votes. I'm proud of them. And uh,
defensive yeah, and then our defensive team, I'll give you
that one. Guards Marcus Smart and Eric Bledsoe, forwards Jonnis

(02:02:12):
and Paul George, center Rudy Gobert. All right, it's the
eye couple of christ Rous are Rob Parker. Have a
great weekend, Yes, everybody, all you guys have a great weekend.
