so far. If you missed anything, go check out the podcast.
Always check out the YouTube channel as well. Dion Sanders
might be putting this school in a financial struggle.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
We'll touch on that in a little bit.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
We also got to do One's Gotta Go towards the
end of the hour as well, So a whole lot
in this hour as well, plus some big news Rob
in the NBA in our town here in La. Some
big news happened today, Rob gu about a halfful of
weeks ago. This was supposed to be ceremonious, right, the
(01:14):
return of Chris Paul back to La.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
He was emotional fans greeted him.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
It was supposed to be the return of the Love
City point guard and things have changed so quickly.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
Right, that's right.
Speaker 6 (01:26):
Paul Pierce has just beeny clips for having the worst
farewell tour INNA. Because, in case you've been living under
a rock, Chris Paul, where Rob g.
Speaker 7 (01:37):
Where'd you get that from? Where'd you get that from?
Speaker 5 (01:39):
Get what what you just said?
Speaker 7 (01:42):
Because that was actually funny.
Speaker 5 (01:45):
I stole that from your joke book that you left
here in the studio.
Speaker 7 (01:47):
No, I'm asking.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
I'm just clever sometimes every once in a while.
Speaker 7 (01:53):
All right, I'm in print.
Speaker 6 (01:55):
So the Clippers are currently in Atlanta taking on the Hawks.
Are actually up by six points right now middle the
first quarter. But in the overnight hours, at two thirty
am Eastern, to be specific, Chris Paul announced via Instagram
that the team told him to go home. You're not
welcome here anymore. And according to ESPN's Sham Sharanya, Chris
(02:16):
Paul before he got sent home, had not been on
speaking terms with head coach Tylu for weeks because Chris
Paul and his quote unquote leadership style had been clashy
with everybody around. He's very vocal about holding management, coaches
and players accountable. You'll recall about a week ago he
put the literal definition for leeway on his Instagram story.
(02:39):
Very cryptic, long story short, Chris Paul is gone.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
He's at home.
Speaker 6 (02:43):
According to the La Times, very few teams are intined,
if any, in bringing him back. So this Farewell Tour
not going the way we expected it would.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
This is a lesson Calvin for all people out there.
You got to know where you fit in. Chris Paul
still thinks he's that dynamic guard from ten years ago,
and you know when everybody wanted his services and they're
gonna win a championship and when they were up to
(03:15):
all against the Suns in the NBA Finals.
Speaker 7 (03:18):
Oh, he's a top three point guard of remember all that.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, yeah, I hate to break it to you, Chris Paul,
you ain't that anymore. And when you're not good enough
as a player, you can't be a jerk.
Speaker 7 (03:38):
That's what he was. Kelvin. I've been covering the league.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Since nineteen eighty seven.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
When I talk to a lot of people around the league,
this is his mo right, calling people out, rubbing people
the wrong way, telling players, I'll get you up out
of here like he's a GM.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
Just all that.
Speaker 7 (04:05):
It comes as.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
No surprise when you're averaging two points and you're not playing,
nobody wants you to be a squeaky wheel.
Speaker 7 (04:14):
It doesn't mean that anything he said.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
I'm about the team and the players that they've been.
They had an awful season. He's not the messenger. He's
not the guy to deliver that message. I don't care
about the career how long you play. You're not playing.
You're not a veteran who's still starting the starting point guard.
(04:40):
You're not playing. You're averaging two points. Kelvin, you gotta
know better.
Speaker 7 (04:48):
You have to.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
I bring up the story all the time Fantasy Island.
I'm not equating Chris Paul to Tattoo, but I'm just trying.
Speaker 8 (05:00):
To say, Okay, Tattoo was on a very popular show,
Fantasy Island with Ricardo Montalbaum.
Speaker 7 (05:12):
He wanted Montalbaum money.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
He went to the producers at ABC and demanded Montalbam money.
Speaker 7 (05:22):
He's a little person with a couple of lines.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
The plane. The plane is not gonna get you equal money.
You're not an equal star on the show. Did ABC
ben producers Ben Kelvin did they ben No, No, what
they do They replaced them.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
They said, all right, cool piece peace.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
And the Clippers did the same exact things.
Speaker 7 (05:51):
He wasn't good enough anymore.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
You can't be not good or so so or bad
or whatever you want to say and think you have
the same clout as when you were a big.
Speaker 7 (06:03):
Time star in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
I don't care about how long you played all that
other stuff. There's a way of going about it. There's
a way of being a player's coach dealing with young
players passing along? Do you know what I mean? Not
to be a distraction. And that's why Chris Paul, his
farewell tour got detoured and the bus went off the cliff.
Speaker 7 (06:26):
That's what happened.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Chris Paul, rob has lived long enough.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
You know that old phrase, they say, you either die hero,
you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
I feel like Chris Paul the allegory of his NBA career.
If you look back, he was the babyface assassin when
he was with the Hornets and maybe making that team
overachieve and battling against Kobe and the Lakers in playoff.
(06:51):
You're like, man, this kid is good and ends up
becoming the elite. Not only they call him a point guard,
that called the point god, and we thought of him
as the ultimate leader, and he was gonna ultimately become
a Laker. David Stern says no to that, and then
he becomes a Clipper in Live City, as you know
you were here some of those years, becomes the sexy pick.
(07:12):
They were the eight team before the Warriors. People wanted
to you know, they're gonna win a championship. They were
fun to watch and it never manifested. But Chris Paul
then started to become It went bad with him and
Blake Griffin. You heard all those stories about them not
getting along, not getting along with this guy, him and
DJ getting into it, and then you hear about him
and Dot getting into it. Then he goes to other
(07:33):
teams and the teams are good because he's a very
good player, one of the all time greats, and they
always overachieved. You kind of thought, oh, okay, the Rockets
house is gonna work with him and Russell Westbrook. It worked,
he didn't get hurt. They might have went to the finals.
It worked with Oka. See, but all the other stuff
we would hear, how you would just grind people's gears.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
He would wear on people.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
He could never change, he would never evolve his style
as far as getting a wrong with people. They you know,
you hear stuff about telling ah, don't do what, coach haid,
do this, do that, And so it's remarkable to me
that a guy the first seven eight years of his
career was beloved, was one of the most entertaining, had
all the commercials.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
He was Chris and Cliff Paul.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
He was the guy became kind of the grumpy old
man and going to teams and they're not liking them
and things aren't going good. It's just been remarkable to
see that happen over the years of his career.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
And you mentioned it.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
You can be on a team and be a guy
that's not necessarily producing, but still be a veteran presence
in guys respect you and listen to and but part
of you doing that is it's okay to evolve.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
And it sounds like he never evolved. I'll give you
an example.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Somebody who he was gonna be paired with, which would
have been insane as far as the locker room was
him and Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant talks about he had
to evolve as a leader because the way his approach
was the first seven, eight, nine, ten years of his.
Speaker 4 (08:53):
Career wasn't gonna get it.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
You know, if he was trying to win, he had
to find other ways to motivate, find.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
Of the had He talked about, I gotta be in
with guys.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
He talked about, I had to have these personal relationships.
Guys are bringing in baggage, they were going through things
in life. I gotta tap in with the guy, not
just the player. And it seems like Chris never evolved
like he just the way he was. He's hey, we
runs hot, He's always, you know, on go, and that
just seemed the rough guy, you know, a team guys
around way so much so that the organization that brought
(09:22):
him back to kind of be the staple. This is
the guy Rob who was supposed to get this, the
first jersey up in this in the rafters of the
end to a dome. This was the guy who's supposed
to be the first statue there. Right, this is supposed
to be bring him back. He was the you know,
our best years, he was our leader, and now it's
looking like that might not happen now it's looking like
that relationship is fractured. And last thing I'll say is,
(09:45):
at the end of the day, rob the Clippers gonna
clip the Clippers. You had Chris, Paul Blake, Jamal Griffin,
DeAndre Jordan, all these great players for years, got nothing
for it. You get a new owner spending money. He's great,
he's enthusiastic. You start doing nothing for it. You get
Kawhi Leonard, I'm not coming unless you get Paul George.
(10:06):
You get Paul George, you got Kawhi, you got James Harden.
Over the years, you got a new State Arena, nothing
to show for it. For all of this. If I
told you other guys that you have Paul George, Kawhi, Chris,
Paul Blaker, and DeAndre George, Jamal Crawford, whom I missing,
I say, James Hard I mean all these guys, Russell Westbrook,
and at the end of that run you have one
(10:28):
Western Conference final appearance. The Clipper's gonna clip. Man.
Speaker 7 (10:35):
Yeah, but they did the right thing here though.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
You can't have somebody disrupting, even in a bad situation
that they're in. You can't disrespect your bosses. You can't
disrespect the front office. You can't disrespect the other.
Speaker 7 (10:49):
People you work with.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
Dude, you should go go on Twitter and look at
all the ex players who play with him saying I
can't stand that guy, or like.
Speaker 7 (10:57):
That's everywhere unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Go look, go look. Let me ask you question what
I got one for this? This is the.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Trail that was left. But when he was a star,
it's harder to push back on, you.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Know that, especially because he was a point guard, so
you viewed it as you know, leader.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
He's got to be doing some riot. He's a leader
as a consummate leader.
Speaker 7 (11:17):
Rob g.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
I want to ask you this to both of you guys.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
If I'm just talking playing on the court, he's still
one of my all time favorite point guards to watch
and also just period like where he stands for me?
Do you believe what we've seen over the last ten years?
People called him dirty player? You know you see him
punching guys, album guys and the you know what, you know,
just doing dirty plays, kind of becoming grumpy.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Do you think that has hurt his stature the player?
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Like the actually like where the rankings and where you
know how people view because I feel like he went
from to Rob who said it top.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Three four point guard ever toy Like, Now, guys.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
I heard the other day with a bunch of former players,
they're like, yeah, he's like, you know, top seven eight, Nah,
maybe eight, you know, top.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
Ten for sure. I'm like, wait a minute.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
A decade ago, this dude was top three four, you know,
maybe five at the latest.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Do you think that's hurt him?
Speaker 5 (12:10):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (12:11):
I think that when you look at his resume, it's
up there with everybody not named Steph, Magic and Isaiah
like he has I feel like like eleven time all NBA.
He's been in the top ten in the MVP like
seven times, Like are you kidding me? Like Chris Paul
and you mentioned that he's rubbed people the wrong way
(12:34):
for a long time. Part of it was he kind
of had to be that kind of player to get
the most out of his abilities, because you know, he's
five to ten on a good day. It's like a
buck eighty, not super quick, not getting jump high, you know.
But he was crafty and he was a bulldog and
did everything I.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
Do to win.
Speaker 6 (12:49):
And it's funny that you mentioned these former players who
say that they don't think he's that great or.
Speaker 5 (12:54):
That he rubbed them the wrong way. What do they
all have in common? Everybody who said that, none of
them have wont anything. So maybe he.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
Was doing what.
Speaker 7 (13:03):
I'm gonna I'm gonna push I'm gonna push back on
that because he didn't win anything either.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
He won more at every spot he went to than
but he.
Speaker 7 (13:12):
Didn't win ultimately.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Ultimately, everybody and you remember this, wanted to crown them
when they were up too old with the son.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
What if the Suns done since then?
Speaker 7 (13:20):
Rob No, I I every.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
That doesn't mean just because you don't win doesn't mean
you can't have criticism.
Speaker 7 (13:29):
I'm just saying I've heard it from too many people.
Speaker 5 (13:32):
Oh yeah, but all the people you've heard it for
didn't win.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
Blake Griffin never want anything, never want anything, but want
anything like you can go down the list.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
There are people, I'm gonna tell you, I'm not people
who have won in this league.
Speaker 7 (13:47):
Told me that a bad stuff that.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
He's you say that on the air all the toime.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
No, give me name, Brady Quinn.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
I'm not going to say who.
Speaker 6 (14:00):
What I'm saying is yes, and I could see how
we would rub people the wrong way because he.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Is he needed all the runs hot, all times that
it would have been the scariest teammates to be.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
They would everybody.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
He would not have been sent home off on this
if they hadn't you think that it just happened last week.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
But this is also the organization that disrespected Blake Griffin
his way out the door.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
This is what he left.
Speaker 6 (14:27):
This is a team that is allegedly gave Kawhi Leonard
like thirty million dollars in un mark bills behind the
back of a toilet.
Speaker 5 (14:33):
Seat because they don't seem to be doing things the
right way.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
That what you're doing, though, is clouding what Chris Paul
did for them to be able to send and he
won't be signed by anybody, nobody well because he's a.
Speaker 5 (14:45):
Bake guard who can't move any forget it.
Speaker 7 (14:47):
But after they but it could have been in a
nice sendoff and he ruined.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
It's crazy to think that we're here, we will got
back here.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
He got you say that, Rob g who wound it?
Speaker 6 (14:56):
He ruled the Clippers did. The Clippers are five and
sixteen right now. Their couts in the Kawhi Leonard, James Harden,
and Tylue. None of them have been a good leader
in any shape sense of the word. Kawhi is under
investigation for keeping money James James, Chris Paul off the hook?
Speaker 5 (15:14):
How amNY off?
Speaker 4 (15:16):
Here's Here's why. I think, Here's why. I think. Here's why.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
I think the two things Chris Paul's demeanor, Chris Paul's
aptitude to want to compete, Chris Paul's making every organization
better on the on the court, I think he came
there and saw how they've been running and who they've
been signing, and I think, as opposed to just fitting
in on my last little hoorah, I think he came
in there and.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
Disrupted, you know, like, Hey, this is how y'all do it? This,
why y'all signed, Why would y'all put this guy with us?
Speaker 2 (15:46):
And I think they didn't like that, and I think
they're like, man, you can't come in here. We brought
you in here for the ceremonial, ride this thing out
with us. And I think he came in there, you know,
high strong on this is how you win, you do
it this way, and they didn't like that, And.
Speaker 7 (16:00):
Wow, what is he? What is he won every team
he goes to, he's what is he won? Kel question?
He what did he win?
Speaker 4 (16:10):
He hasn't won.
Speaker 7 (16:11):
Okay, he didn't win anything. He just like the Clippers.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
He didn't win and the Clippers didn't wind. What did
he win? He didn't win the championship. No, okay, absolutely not.
And that's a part of him.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Trying to crown him like he's coming in he's Michael Jordan.
He's telling you how I'm gonna win title averaging two points.
You're forty one years old, stopping You're not.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
That's fine. I disagree with that part. I don't.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
I think you can be a Juwan Howard Jared Dudley
guy on a team who ain't averaging nothing and be
a great leader. I'm agreeing that his approach probably was wrong,
but I think his approach was wrong, probably.
Speaker 7 (16:53):
As probably or definitely probably.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Let me take I'm sure Chris Paul, Chris Paul and
Tyron Lu didn't like it. Don't come in here telling
me how to run it. I'd have been running this
team with an inter Kawhi injured James.
Speaker 7 (17:07):
What's the difference between Chris Paul and Tyronlu? What's the difference?
Speaker 9 (17:12):
Got ing?
Speaker 7 (17:13):
Okay, there you go. He's a championship coach.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Right, you know I like Tyron Luke.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
All right, well, all right, let's well eight seven, seven

Obviously that's her squad, and maybe take some calls too, Hey, Manzi.
Speaker 10 (19:13):
Hi, guys.
Speaker 11 (19:14):
A lot of thoughts here, A lot of thoughts, Okay,
Rob Parker, real quick, when you were talking about Jana
Sante to Coompo, how many times did.
Speaker 12 (19:20):
You say it is so hard to win anything, It
is so hard to win a championship.
Speaker 11 (19:26):
I'm just gonna point that out that you said that.
As a Clippers fan, I have experienced many years of
nobody being held accountable on a roster, nobody being held
accountable when you're up.
Speaker 10 (19:36):
In a series and you can close it out or.
Speaker 11 (19:38):
In a game, and we are not in a good position.
We have started off like asked. We are not good
in any way, shape or form. And just because Chris
Paul is forty and he's not playing at an elite level,
why did you sign him?
Speaker 13 (19:52):
Oh?
Speaker 10 (19:52):
Yeah, you signed him so that.
Speaker 12 (19:53):
He could end his career as a Clipper and finish
the season. You knew what you were signing, You knew
the type of player.
Speaker 11 (20:00):
I just say, he's been around forever, we know exactly
the type of personality it is.
Speaker 10 (20:04):
And yet it could be that he rubbed.
Speaker 11 (20:05):
People the wrong way, But that doesn't mean what he
was saying wasn't correct.
Speaker 12 (20:09):
Who's being held accountable for what the Clippers are doing?
Speaker 10 (20:11):
And we have nothing to do?
Speaker 12 (20:12):
We are stuck for two years like this, Like it's
frustrating to watch a team that was top ten in
defense last year being the bottom five in defense this year,
when we are not getting any younger, We're only getting older,
and there's not much of a future for the next
two years.
Speaker 11 (20:25):
It's frustrating, and I can see why Chris Paul was frustrated.
Speaker 12 (20:29):
And if he rubbed you the wrong way, suck it up, man.
This is an awful start to the.
Speaker 11 (20:33):
Season, and I really cannot believe that the Clippers may
not even get an opportunity to play in the play
in this year, to play in the stupid playoffs, Like
I don't.
Speaker 10 (20:41):
This was bad for the fans.
Speaker 12 (20:43):
Now, why am I gonna go watch a Clipper game
if we're not gonna make the playoffs?
Speaker 10 (20:46):
Why would I go watch a Clipper game? Before? I
could have at least come to see.
Speaker 12 (20:50):
Chris Paul play five minutes and I could have cheered
for him because Chris Paul.
Speaker 7 (20:55):
Well, ain't nobody paying no money asking you to do that?
Speaker 12 (21:00):
Okay, nobody, what are you talking about? You're talking a
Clipper fan. You stop it, You stop it.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
You're nobody paying five to see I would, Yes.
Speaker 7 (21:11):
I would.
Speaker 10 (21:12):
I went to opening day just so I could see
the last opening day for the for Chris Paul. I'd
never been to a Clippers opening day.
Speaker 12 (21:18):
I went this year because I wanted to see Chris
Paul enter for the last time on an opening day.
Speaker 10 (21:22):
That's why I went so to say that people aren't
gonna do that.
Speaker 12 (21:24):
You're not gonna do that, Okay, but there are people
that would have gone to see Chris Paul one last time.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Chris Paul in his situation MONTI is a time and
a place.
Speaker 7 (21:34):
You have to know where you fit in.
Speaker 10 (21:35):
Yeah, you do. I agree it.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Yeah, he's a way you're playing five minutes. There's a
way of handling it. There's a way of talking to people.
There's a way of talking to people. You could want
to make changes at Fox Sports Radio. If you go
in and put and yell at Scott and don and
tell them what they should do.
Speaker 7 (21:57):
I guarantee you you won't be on the air.
Speaker 10 (21:58):
Well, yeah, haven't been in the business twenty years. Of course,
I haven't been in an organization before that.
Speaker 7 (22:03):
I took They do it. I don't care who you are.
That's not the world.
Speaker 12 (22:07):
So like sometimes like just because you're he's harsh, doesn't
he's not saying the truth.
Speaker 10 (22:12):
It's almost like they just don't want to face the truth.
So they got rid of him.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
Well that's the thing. I'll jump in here.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
This is the thing that's interesting about the Clippers is
Steve Balmer ain't fire and Steve Bomber right. We know
that Lawrence Frank has had free reign and a lot
of the decisions they've made have come to him.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
They find a way to keep Norman pop.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
In a minute, they think this team was this team
a few times, had good teams ready to get Doc
Rivers was the coach.
Speaker 7 (22:36):
And couldn't get it done. And he choked. How many
times did Doc Rivers.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
When he was there?
Speaker 1 (22:41):
They gave him multiple opportunities, So don't act like they
weren't in position at.
Speaker 7 (22:46):
All or ever.
Speaker 10 (22:47):
They choked right.
Speaker 7 (22:50):
Down three to one, they choke.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Look at Doc Rivers record that nobody's held accountable. They
fired Doc Rivers after they gave him eight chances.
Speaker 7 (22:58):
They did.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
I'm saying they are getting chances that some other coaches
and gms don't get. I like Tyrone though you know
that we're both you know, think he's a good coach,
but you know, I don't know what he's gonna do
it as far as if he wants to continue to
stay around. In his message, I think he has been
upset with how they've had to handle Kawhi Leonard.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
All these years.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
I think I think he's really been more mad at
that than anything. So uh Manzi, Yeah, you can, you
can as far as we can hit us with the updates,
maybe eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. We could
take some calls on the two if people want to
jump in on that.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Maybe take a few calls on this, Rob g if
we got some, because obviously, you know, a lot of
people might have something to say with this. I mean,
he was live Cities. Darling brought him back, supposed to
be the Farewell the Swan dive, and it just did not.
He's out of there.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
This did not mas Swan song.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Swan swansong, Yeah, exactly, swansong, turning the Swan.
Speaker 7 (23:58):
That was a fordianth slip, because that's exactly what it was.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
How do we get here? Go ahead, Jordan, Jordan and DC.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
What's up?
Speaker 5 (24:11):
Hey?
Speaker 13 (24:11):
How you doing?
Speaker 14 (24:11):
Rob?
Speaker 15 (24:12):
And Calvin?
Speaker 4 (24:13):
What's up?
Speaker 16 (24:13):
Man?
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Do it right?
Speaker 17 (24:16):
Nothing?
Speaker 4 (24:16):
Much?
Speaker 15 (24:18):
So I I agree with you. Rob you know, the
Clippers obviously were always clipped there, you know, just a
just a just a snake bitting team with terrible luck.
But I don't like how I think Chris Paul gets
brought in the discussions that like like it's almost above
his weight class. Like I was, I was noticing Rob
g when he was talking about how the Clippers need leadership,
he brought up James Harden as like a lack of
(24:39):
a leader. I feel like Harden has been has held
that team on his front, on his back for the
last year and a half. What makes Chris Paul more
of a leader than than James Harden is in terms
of a career, you know, I think that's the that's
the problem people have with Chris Paul is that he
gets elevated into a class that he's never proven to
get himself into. I don't think he is Magic or
or Zeke or or Curry. You know that's taking my call, guys,
(25:02):
no doubt.
Speaker 7 (25:02):
Yep, thank you, Jordan, appreciate it. I hear you.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
I mean, you know, he gets like he's done something.
Oh yeah, listen to Chris Paul because he's won four championship. No,
he hasn't you know how Frank in Los Angeles, Frank,
go ahead, go ahead, Frank.
Speaker 7 (25:19):
In Los Angeles. You're in they couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 17 (25:22):
What's happening with a player? Yeah, I was just I'm
agreeing with Rob Man that dude should have came in
and took some humble pie.
Speaker 16 (25:28):
Man.
Speaker 17 (25:28):
You know, it's basically like, you know, when the girl
was the baddest girl in high school, you know, she
was looking like Banna White, But when you get to
the class reunion, now she looking like Reggie White. You know,
you gotta take some.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Rest in piece of the great White.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
He catches, sighting one more thing, rest in piece of
Helden Campbell.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
Thank you guys.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Oh yeah, man, big easy, yeah, yes, rest in piece
of Ellen Campbell helped out that Piston squad win a
champions Appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
How about Mike in Texas? Thank you, Thank you, Frank,
appreciate the support and that Mike in Texas. You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Mike
dren love the show.
Speaker 14 (26:06):
Thanks for taking my call.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
Thank you.
Speaker 16 (26:08):
Hear it.
Speaker 14 (26:10):
It's fad that it came down the way it came
down for Chris Fault for him to you know, think
he's better than everybody else and all that. But he's
gonna still go down as one of the top ten
guards in the league. And he's right. Behrend stocked it
in the whole time of fist and he's up there,
had another one of the thing. But I'm not trying
to say that.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
No one's trying to take down his career, his resume. Okay,
that's not the issue.
Speaker 14 (26:32):
Okay, Stash not Stash the Lado. So whatever you can
hear bad about him, he's gonna follow in that top
ten all time guard.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Yeah, but that doesn't that doesn't mean that, Mike, Mike,
you work at a job you want to go in
and make suggestions to the boss and disrespect people and
the staff.
Speaker 7 (26:50):
See how long you work at that job, they gonna happen.
Speaker 14 (26:53):
That's what I said. He crossed the land he should
never did. Yet he would have had a place on
the bench if he had. He had it been more
humble and shows them who knows you. But gm man,
no doubt shall one thing. He traded Shay and Nia's
had one problem. I can another, all.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Right, Mike, that's gonna be a thirty for thirty, right,
there trade and Shae five first round picks.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
Now he's up there MVP and championships.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
That's gonna That'll definitely be one that will be always
remembered that trade, for sure.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Tony in Miami, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (27:27):
What's up, Tony?
Speaker 16 (27:29):
Oh?
Speaker 13 (27:29):
I just feel bad for Monci. I have some adavan
if she wants to cal him down. I know it
was a little emotional for her, but I also feel
because I'm a Lions fan just like the Clippers. Both
of those organizations are full blown. It's a curse. Curse
is a real word. It's a real thing. Uh. I
would say Paul going there and all that, it's kind
(27:52):
of like spitting on an Applebee's burger and then trying
to walk out of the tab. None of it could
end well. Other than that, I really don't see. I
don't see anything coming out of any of it. And
gambling rail reign supreme. So I'll leave it at that.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
Miami and we spending beer burgers and whatnot. Is be paranoid?
Next time I go to Appleby's, i'ma be paranoid.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Now, he didn't say he worked there. Lee in South
Carolina you're on the yard couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (28:28):
What's something like, how you doing?
Speaker 13 (28:30):
Yeah good?
Speaker 17 (28:30):
Thanksgivings?
Speaker 7 (28:32):
Oh yeah all doing?
Speaker 17 (28:34):
Man, thank you, thank you. I won't say this Chris Paul,
you know he knows basketball, thank you to say, well,
he probably trying to catch those on as a coach
because he know the game. You know how I played.
But if he can't play.
Speaker 13 (28:48):
It, no, most good back he used to.
Speaker 17 (28:50):
But he could be a good coach. That's all I
wanted to say.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
I appreciate the call.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
I'll say this rob the idea that everybody who does
know the game, very intelligent, high Q, will be a
good coach. I don't think people it's not always about that,
because what happens is, can you handle guys learning at
a slower rate than you can you handle guys making
mistakes in the slow process of learning. Can you handle
you know, guys just aren't getting it, Like there's a
(29:16):
frustration everybody got. Everybody's not built to be a coach.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Maybe he will be, but I just know just because
somebody is a great basketball mind doesn't mean they're a
great coach. There's a temperament. You gotta have the ability
to Washton. Hey, we lost a game. We got to
move forward because we've got eighty two of them. There's
a lot that goes into it to being a coach
and just simply oh so and so is good at basketball,
or so and so knows the game, they can be
a coach, you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (29:37):
Like, I don't think that's always the case.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Cliff in Kentucky, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 7 (29:45):
What's up, Cliff?
Speaker 14 (29:47):
What's up?
Speaker 16 (29:47):
Guys? Thanks for checking myself. I gotta go with Mante
on this a little bit because there aren't fans out
there who's gonna pay that money to see Chris Paul.
I'm a big baseball fan. When I when I wanted
to go see my favorite shortstop ever, I paid money.
It wasn't as good as it used to be. But
(30:09):
you asked for veteran leadership. Chris Paul's of a different era.
He's not this era, and maybe that's the way he
got brought into the game. And maybe he's just rough
people wrong.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Yeah, no doubt, And that's what I was started earlier.
I talked about evolving, like if everywhere he's gone, he's
just you know, got into it some people and some people,
you know, the intensity, there's I think there's all of
us can evolve a bit, and maybe there was some
of that that you would think he would be able
to do over the years.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
Evolve a little bit.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Not changing the competitive is not changing one the desire
to win, but maybe changing approach.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
Uh, And that's not the case. But here we were.
It was like they say, it was all good a
week ago.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
He signed, he's back, he's emotional, fans are excited now
he's gone. So all right, thank you for all the casts.
Thank you Monci as well. Appreciate it. All right, on
the way, one's got to go. We'll do it next.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
It's The Couple. Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
It's the I Couple, Rob Parker Kevin Washington on a
worship Wednesday, passionate conversation. We just had there all the
news you guys heard, of course, about what's happening with
Chris Paul and the Clippers. By the way, Rob's and
Robb g Rob's Chris Paul just posting something I just
(31:34):
noticed a couple of hours ago. Looks like a zoom
or FaceTime either one of him, Blake and DeAndre Jordan
all like they just it's a frozen picture of them,
like all laughing.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
It at as to be like, what are y'all talking about?
Speaker 14 (31:47):
Something?
Speaker 2 (31:48):
So that's interesting him Pop, This is gonna be a
interesting few weeks because he ain't got no job right now,
so he go, He's just gonna be putting anything everything
on social media.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
So we'll keep you updated on that if you miss it.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Today's show all the way a point on why why
why they did what they did, you know, like go
out at least at least give them, give them some
They could have just said.
Speaker 7 (32:07):
Dude, you know what you cut whatever they took.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
They flew all the way out there to try to
do it with some sort of grace, you know what
I mean? Seriously, like he's disrespecting people behind the scenes
reportedly and talking to people certain ways. Yea, and they
at least it at least flew out there to try
to do it.
Speaker 7 (32:25):
And that's a thing to do.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
Bad respect for not giving respect. I appreciate that business hours,
I won't.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
I don't buy the whole, the respect like the whole
because if they're cutting me or cutting me, if you're
flying me whatever, and especially considering its supposed to be
my last season.
Speaker 4 (32:41):
But it is interesting, what the he because.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
You know what, Calvin, you're such a phony. They called
them on the phone or text them, you'll be like,
what kind of respectful that as you go played all
these years in the NBA. There's a way of doing it, man,
and they did it and got to make it.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
This is clearly this is clearly nothing about class. This
is clearly a bad meaning. If they called, if they
called him faxed them flew down the fact that Chris
Paul is not retiring his final season as it was
just announced recently with the Clippers. There's no way around
as being an ISSH show like it is exactly what
it is, no matter how so that part of it,
(33:16):
no matter how it happens.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
I just yeah, it's a way time now for once
we let you go, we'll just send you a text
and that'll be cool with you.
Speaker 7 (33:26):
Right is how it goes.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
No, Rob the man literally just said he's retiring with
him and now he's not. There's no way around that, Like,
how is that not gonna be a big thing regardless?
All right, So this one is dedicated to h We
try to have a little fun here about some different things,
(33:48):
and this one I'm driving them away, getting where I
gotta go. And it drove me crazy today that somebody
kept trying to get by some folks and they were
doing forty five fifty. No one's really on the road
and the left lane, which of course in most places
is the fast lane, and I couldn't get around them.
Some other people were feeling the same way out there,
kind of got around them and then went in front
of them, zoomed in front of them. So it got
(34:08):
me annoyed, and it started to think about some little
bit of pet peeves out here. Which ones gotta go
Monty Rob Rob Alex. So I'll start with the one
I just said. People who drive two slows, but specifically
in the fast lane, Like you know, you're not supposed
to be in here doing fifty. It's sixty seventy five,
whatever the miles power is. You know what we're doing here,
all right? You got that one. People who chew loudly,
(34:32):
people who are some people call it smacking. People who
chew loudly? Are people who smack? What about the people
who talk during the movie. You're going the movie, you're
locked in, you're excited seeing you get people talking a
couple of rolls.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Ahead of you.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Or when you land and the plane just landed and
they already stand up, and you got all people standing
up over your head. We haven't even really finished taxiing
yet you're already up standing up and standing in the
way in the aisle.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
Those are your ones? Gotta go? Pep edition, Which one
is gone? Driving slow in the fast lane?
Speaker 2 (35:04):
People who get up on the airplane and stand up
before we Dagner even really just landed. People who talk
during the movies, and people who choose loudly or smack.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
Rob g Rob Alex Monty. Which one's gotta go?
Speaker 6 (35:23):
It's got to be the d planers. I've been on
way too many planes sitting usually in the thirties because
I can't afford the first class seats. And still somehow
the guy in row thirty seven, as soon as the
plane lands, got to stand up and walk to the front,
like sit your ass down, you broke like the rest
of us sit in the back. You do not get
permission to d plane before the rest of us got
(35:44):
They gotta go.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
They gotta go.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
I get hey, I feel that it's like, dude, especially
if you ain't got a connection, if like a twenty
five minute connection where you gotta get on it, then okay,
I'll be with you on that.
Speaker 9 (35:55):
Alex MONTI, this one's easy.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
What is it?
Speaker 13 (36:00):
Oh?
Speaker 18 (36:00):
Dude's slow in the fast lane every day? You want
to know why why I comeute twenty four to seven.
I have to tell you something. There is nothing more
robotic than people driving in the fast lane going sixty
miles per hour in the middle of the night. And
then since I have to go around them and go
back in front of them, they want to flash me
with their brights to let me know that I'm infiltrating
their commute home.
Speaker 9 (36:20):
So guess what I do to those people?
Speaker 18 (36:22):
Kelvin You probably with my breaks faster than I could
if a kid was crossing the road.
Speaker 9 (36:26):
You know what it does.
Speaker 18 (36:27):
And I'm scarce a living s out of them. So
I guess what they're not gonna do and moving forward,
flash people with sprites when they're going sixty in the
left lane.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
I'm just gonna jump in now. Because I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
Out of you took my a's to drive is slow,
Like I'm a driver, A drive a lot, you know,
all the multiple jobs and kids and drive. And I
like driving too, in the sense I like my music,
my vibe, a good puck and I'm I need you
to get Can you go with the flow of traffic.
I ain't saying you gotta be doing seventy five eighty
five ninety. We go with the floor of the traffic,
or know that you're driving slow and get out the way.
Speaker 4 (36:55):
You interrupted my move, my groove. So I'm with you, Alex.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
People who drive slow, specifically in the fast lane, knowing
they're doing it, seeing I wonder why everybody's going around
me because you're going thirty.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
Yeah, I'm with you on that.
Speaker 9 (37:05):
Okay, there's four or five lanes too.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Especially out here in LA Like Okay, certain states only
have two lanes.
Speaker 9 (37:11):
It's different.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
Yeah, go, yeah, I'm with you on that, Manzi.
Speaker 11 (37:15):
All right, listen, slow people in the fast lane super
freaking annoying. Everybody getting up when the plane first lands
super annoying, one hundred percent.
Speaker 10 (37:24):
But if you smack when you eat, oh.
Speaker 19 (37:27):
Lord of Mercy, that is some good Manzi, you didn't
do that, which when you're home private, enjoy it. But
if you're like in public, oh no, it's like, oh,
you know what.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
You wouldn't want to be around twenty year old dub you.
We wouldn't have got along.
Speaker 13 (37:46):
You know.
Speaker 11 (37:46):
Maybe I wouldn't have cared twenty years ago and you.
But right now, like when I see that, I'm just like,
oh goodness, no, no, no, no, no, no, not in public.
Don't do that, dude in your own private home that
you are enjoying your meal.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
So much, Rob, Is it easy?
Speaker 16 (38:02):
One?
Speaker 7 (38:03):
Yeah, this is easy.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
I want to one's gotta go forty year old point
guards who are paying the ass to the organism.
Speaker 7 (38:08):
Oh, I'm sorry, this is the wrong top top.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
I'm sorry. All right, n let me ask you this.
Chris Paul comes back.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
He's averaging realistically like ten and seven, like ten point seven,
that says, playing twenty two minutes.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
But data made a difference, real question.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
No, I think there's a way that you. I think
there's a way you deal with people. And you know
this when you're at the when you're at the top
of the heat. Bill Belichick treated reporters and people really
badly right because he was winning and he was at
the top of his game. You don't now all of
a sudden he's more feeble and people are attacking him.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
Do you do you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (38:51):
Because he's not that guy anymore. And I'm just saying,
you gotta know how to fit in. But to answer
your question, I'll just go with as somebody who flies,
who's gonna fly the night? The crazy people who are
always trying to get off the plane and they are
twenty rows behind everybody.
Speaker 7 (39:06):
I just don't understand that either.
Speaker 5 (39:08):
Can I update my list?
Speaker 6 (39:09):
I want to nominate a radio hosts to take a
segment that's supposed to be fun and make it real serious.
There for a minute and a half turned the sideway
we're going straight and made a left turn.
Speaker 5 (39:18):
I didn't like that. That's my pet Peeve.
Speaker 7 (39:21):
Hey, that's your.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
I'm telling you what, get whatever, get my already when
y'all have it, I can't wait.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
Uh all right, that's your one gonna go.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
Edition, Pet Peeve. We still got more in the show
to get you as well. Stick with your boys. It's
the eye couple, are you?
Speaker 13 (39:38):
We don't know?
Speaker 7 (39:39):
Somebody just gonna came to my guard.
Speaker 9 (39:41):
Loss Rob sit down. We haven't landed.
