So yet she comes in today and she says, hey,
oh guess what. I'm like what she said, It'll be.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
Proud of me.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
I listened to the odd couple. Why she listened to
the odd couple yesterday?
Speaker 5 (04:16):
She said I was cute and all that, and maybe
she wanted to meet the older guy, and or she married.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
She's not married. She is single, you know. I mean,
I want to put it in. I don't know. She
ain't know that. I don't want to you know, maybe
she date.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
I don't know. Maybe I'm the coach at Michigan. I'm sorry,
Rob Cushion.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
Ha ha ha, good one.
Speaker 1 (04:35):

The streets really like us, man, I want you to
know that. Okay, into it and yell at each other.
That's okay. Your wife won't listen, but that's all.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
One of these days you'll have your wife calling and
just talk about how much he hates to show because
I got to hate the.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Show she hates.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
And sometimes my girls. She'll have the girls listening to
I'm nervous, Like I mean, the one time we have
one of them segments where caution.
Speaker 5 (05:04):
Everybody's telling me that my friend told me turned the
radio off the other night he thought I was going somewhere.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
He had the kids in the car. I'm like, real,
I'm not blue.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
I'm just saying, you know, it's am I that blue, Alex,
It's it's.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
What does that mean.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Like dangerous?
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Yeah? Really?
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Uh yeah? Risk a Yes, all right, let's get to
the show. ROBBERI you got ten seconds before I lose it?
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Uh yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:31):
And for forty years, Tirak has been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what, when and where they drive.
Ship Fast and free back by Free Road has a
protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation, Tiraq
Dot Calm. The way tire buying should be a lot
to get to. Let's bring in the couple of crew.
We wouldn't be able to do this find radio program
(05:52):
without him. Rob G is the producer, So Mexican is
Alex is our engineer.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Alex, You're a hidden challenge.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
That's right. Steves at the anchor desk. Hey, Steve. He'll
keep us updated throughout the program. And of course never
heard of him.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
I've never heard of him, never heard of them.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
Is a social media guru, all right, Rob G. Joe
Burrow's been through a lot in his NFL career. He
got hurt his first year, came back his second year,
took the Bengals to the Super Bowl somehow, some way, uh.
And every year it seems like he's banged up or
has to miss some games or something's happening with him.
(06:28):
And he had some kind of cryptic comments that people
are reading into.
Speaker 7 (06:33):
Guys worse than that. Joe Burrow has been hurt basically
every season since twenty seventeen.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Back in our Lash.
Speaker 7 (06:39):
They broke a bone in his throwing a hand twenty seventeen,
torn rib, cardialge LSU in twenty twenty, torn ACL and
MCL twenty twenty with the Bengals barbecue that was in
the same season, like same calendar year, got hurd at LSU,
got hurt again with the Bengals twenty twenty one, dislocates
his pinky, twenty twenty two, roughtionit of panic, twenty twenty three,
capstrained twenty twenty three to end the season, torn wrist ligament,
(07:00):
twenty five turf toe, which is wearing a metal plate
in his gleat right now. Even still, he came back
early from the injury, beats Baltimore. In his first game back,
goes toe to toe with Josh Allen, comes up short.
Effectively They're not totally out of it, but effectively ending
any chance they had of making the postseason. And yesterday
when he met with the media, he looked despondent. He
(07:23):
sounded desponding. You don't believe me.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
Take a listen.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
I want to keep doing this.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
I have to have fun doing it.
Speaker 8 (07:29):
You know, I've been through a lot, and if it's
not fun, then what am I doing it for.
Speaker 9 (07:33):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
I'm not sure there is a singular moment or of time.
Speaker 5 (07:37):
It's just a reflection, reflection on a lot of things
that I've done and been through.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
In my career.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
I think I've been.
Speaker 8 (07:46):
Through more than most and it's certainly not easy on
the brain or the body.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
So it's trying to have I'm doing it again.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Uh, Joe Burrow, this is a public service announcement to you.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Is this odd? At twenty nine years old?
Speaker 5 (07:59):
This isn't a reflect You don't sound like you want
to play football, like it's taking a toll on you.
I got a message for you. Retire, Joe Burrow. Retire.
It's okay for real. You got your whole life ahead
(08:20):
of you. Whenever you start talking about reflecting about a
forty year old guy, maybe a thirty eight year old
guy twenty nine, and you're feeling that downtrodden, that beat
up and not excited about playing football. Seriously, I respect
(08:41):
Andrew Luck he said no. Moss Kelvin and I both
know football players who don't even like playing football, but
they do it to make money. It's the biggest dirty
secret in the in sports. They make a lot of money.
I'm six foot eight, I'm three hundred and fifty. I
can'tss four to two. There's no other job I'm gonna
(09:03):
get paid to do anything. Working in an office I
can't even fit into a cubicle. But the idea that
once you start talking about you're not having fun. If
you're twenty nine years old and you don't feel like
you're having fun as a professional athlete, that's a red flag.
(09:27):
That's two red flags. If this was the seventies, that
would be a fanny flag. It just means that you
should really reconsider where you are in life and whether
or not you want to continue, because it's scary when
(09:47):
you go out there and your heart's not in it.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
You could get hurt.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
And it sounds like he's taking a beating and it
is weighing on him. That's why when guys retire early
or whatever. Right, h Sam Do I mean?
Speaker 1 (10:03):
I'm not thinking of with the Rams Donald Aaron Donald,
Aaron Donald, I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
I said, yeah, Aaronda. I respect. He won a super Bowl,
he got paid. He's like, I'm good, thank you.
Speaker 5 (10:17):
He had years ago. He looks great now, he's happy
with his family. I'm good and Joe Burry can say
whatever he want. Took the Cincinnati Bengals to the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
They didn't win. You can't tell me he wasn't a great.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
Quarterback and his numbers and all this other stuff and
what he was able to do before he showed up there.
They couldn't get to that. They couldn't win a playoff game.
They were oh to seven in playoff games. So he
accomplished something. He didn't win a championship. But if you're
not having fun at twenty nine in the National Football League,
I'm telling you Joe Burrow retire.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
So you touched on a couple of things. The first
thing that jumped out to me when he was talking
about that Rod was brain. He said, you know, all
his ways of the brain and the body, specifically with
the brain. That's the mental part. That's the mental part
that a lot of the fans don't ever get to
see her here because we look at the physical Aaron
Donald looks like a specimen. Me and Rob g were
just talking about that a couple of weeks ago, because
(11:18):
he always posting something on socials and him working out still,
people are like, man, come to my team, come to
my team. You're in great shake. It's the mentals. It's
the do I want to put up with going back
to back with injuries, going through the rehab, going through
the mental anguish of am I gonna be the same.
Even when I rehab well, I come back to saying
it's the traveling. It's the first time your kids say, Daddy,
(11:40):
why can't you ever drop me off of school? It's
all of these things that come in with being a professional.
It ain't just the game. It ain't just Sundays. They
sign up for just Sundays, right, It's all the other parts.
It's the money and what it comes with it, and
family and cousins out the blue calling you, and you
know the challenges with having contracts and disputes what organizations
and your teammates wants to get and you got to
(12:00):
speak for him.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
All of that ways on you.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
And when you're Joe Burrow and you've been dealing with
injury after injury from college to the pros, you're in
a bad team. You make them good, but they're still
a bad organization. You're mad at them. You probably want
to leave, but you also are one of those guys
who want to gut it out. It's personal. I want
to stay and battle through it. Your agent's probably saying
you need to leave and go win somewhere else. All
(12:23):
that stuff weighs on you, especially when you're just sitting
there and you're injured and you can't be at your best.
So I absolutely get can understand what Joe Burrow is
going through. I would advise him to take the rest
of this season off. You're nicked up, you're banged up,
you're playing with metal sheet in the bottom of your shoe.
Have a seat, take some time to reflect, deal with
(12:45):
your own you know, personal hefty demand. Just had a
birthday yesterday's twenty nine. Reflect with your family, reflect on
your priorities where you are. Take a two months away
and come back and talk to me. If I'm the
president of the team, general manager of the owners, take
some time away. You need to get away for a
little bit and reflect. But yeah, man, a lot of people,
a lot of the average person doesn't know that side
of what these pro athletes go through. It ain't just
(13:06):
the physical, it ain't just the skills they got that.
I look at Barry Sanders, you know this, you were there.
Barry Sanders can still have played another two three years,
broken records. He just had enough. Megatron had another two
or three years. Just had enough. And there's a common
denominator between the three guys, Joe Burrow, Megatron and Barry
(13:27):
there they were in bad organizations. There are teams that
weren't winning teams.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
Call the Cincinnati Bengals better. Now they're not the Lions bad.
Speaker 5 (13:35):
But what I mean is I'll just I'll push back
on that he went to the Super Bowl, like I
just can't. I can't equate Barry Sanders being with the
Lions all that time and Kelvin Johnson when that team
couldn't win any games. They were winning two and three
games a year. I get to wear and tear on
that this team not that long.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Ago, was in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
They went, they went to Kansas City and beat him twice,
beat the Chiefs and there hey, and.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
That what I'm saying is that was the anomaly. Them
not being good is more common. And I think all
of that just weighs on you. But again, we went
down the history of his injuries. Man, I think he
needs to step away, take a couple of months, reflect,
get healthy, and then come back and make a decision.
But again, you mentioned Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck did it
(14:21):
moved on? Now he's an ad somewhere in.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
The general manager call him, but it sounds like Andrew.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
Luck before he retired. Let's just be honest and that.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Everybody don't want to be Tom Brady playing in forty five.
That ain't no, nobody ain't built for that.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
And you don't want your brain scrambled and all the
other stuff that could come with it. And Brady was
being protected, he was, he didn't they. I saw who
was who put the number out? I saw was it
Schefter had the number? Like he's played in twelve or
thirteen games left in Andrew Luck.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
And has like forty more sacks or something. You have
the number, rob g.
Speaker 7 (14:57):
You know what I'm saying, right, he said it during
the BRONC. I's actually put it here right so I
could remember to say, because it's a wild statye, Joe
Burrow has played seventy three career games. He's been sacked
two hundred and three times. For context, Andrew Luck played
eighty six games before retiring and was sacked one hundred
and seventy four times.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Ok, and we were saying he was running for his
life a lot.
Speaker 4 (15:19):
YEP.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
I remember saying, Hey, if Andrew Lucker get more protection,
he would do more. So, Yeah, all that weighs on
you figure to being literally all that three hundred pounds
men tackling you everything, and.
Speaker 7 (15:28):
The way Joe Burrow plays, He's not the kind of
guy who's like pyon Man, I'm gonna fall down and
knock game. He gonna get it, goes for every single yard.
He holds it as long as possible to get as
deep down the field as he can. So his style
of play lends itself to taking shots.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Like that Troy Aikman Ish, Yeah, Troy and Troy Aikman
Like Troy Aikman was trying to get Michael Irvan and
them down the field and was taking some licks, so
it wouldn't surprise me. I don't think he's gonna retire.
I definitely think he's gonna take a little bit bad.
I think he should retire.
Speaker 5 (15:56):
I hear you once you start talking about that and
question it when when somebody says they're not having fun
a twenty nine year old making a gazillion dollars playing
a sport, right, seriously, Like like a lot of people
gotta go to work, sit in traffic and they don't
have enough money to pay their bills. That ain't fun.
You tell them how playing football ain't fun. That tells
(16:16):
me all I needed.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Now you know how you talking about Luca is the
oldest twenty five, twenty six. Yeah, Joe Burrow is twenty nine.
Joe Burrow out there looking thirty five thirty six. Man, Well,
he's you know, he's beaten him brutal, brutalized over the
last you know, seven eight years.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
All right, eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven,
seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine on this
TV theme song Thursday. Should Joe Burrow just retire? That's
what I'm saying. We'll continue that conversation next with you.

Joe Burrow, if you didn't get a chance, man, the
brother sounded disheartened, sad, desponding, as Rob g said, and
really reflecting on where he is in his career. And
(18:21):
Rob says he should just retire. I say, you need
a couple months away. Cut the season, reflect on where
you need to go. It could ultimately be retiring eight seven,
seven ninety nine. On Fox, he sounded like you grew
up in ann Arbor. You know what, I'm right now?
Like it right about now. It's not good. Right now,
it's not Yeah. Let me check my phones. Even got
the updates on streets? Updates, not the nothing the news.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
Marty in Kentucky, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
What's up, Marty? How you been?
Speaker 3 (18:49):
What's up? Rob? I'm pretty good. I'm just left from work.
I'm heading the Rivers basketball practice.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
How old is river now?
Speaker 5 (18:55):
I just can't imagine how old is he now? He's wow, unbelieved.
All right, what you got Marty on this?
Speaker 3 (19:03):
I'm just okay. I'm just gonna do it. I'm throwing
grenades across the river, but.
Speaker 8 (19:08):
I'm just gonna say it.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
The Cincinnati Bengals are a garbage organization. They are not
managed well. I do not think he should retire. I
think he should figure out a way to get on
another team.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Okay, he was hurt before he came there. He was
hurt in college as well. He is okay, so so
I mean that's not fair, Marty, because it'd be different
if he was never heard in college.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
He's been hurt his whole career.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
I know that, Rob and I agree, But what have
they done to improve that offensive line? They went and
got there two receivers in the quarterback and how about
that to pick up the old line.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Marty, he's to blame.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
He's the one that went into the front office and
demanded that they sign those two quarterbacks receivers.
Speaker 5 (19:56):
Receivers Marty, yes or no.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
I didn't know that he did. He did that. That's
on him.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
He wanted both of them for big money.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Okay, you you taught me something, Robert. I appreciate that. Now.
I love p he is. He is a good friend
of a good friend. Of matter of fact, he lives
with They're both.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
Great war receivers are the great.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
They shouldn't They shouldn't have gave me. He could be
a warn somewhere else.
Speaker 5 (20:24):
Make plenty of money, yes, and make sure you get
the offensive line. You couldn't haven he made the Bengals.
They don't have a lot of money. Thanks, Marty signed
both of them.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
Kelvin, No, I do the only thing I would say
they could have signed him earlier. For some reason them
Jerry Jones, people wait too late. We're not gotta pay
you too much. If you see that coming, you take
care of that early. John, get him on the bargain.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
John and Boston, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 8 (20:47):
What's up, John, Good evening fellows.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
How are you all right?
Speaker 8 (20:52):
Think you borrow fan in Massachusetts? And I don't think
he's going to retire. He loves football. Let's not forget.
He's very introspective, he's very smart. Doesn't just pop off.
He thinks before he speaks. He's putting pressure on the
Bengals or maybe forcing a trade. As far as paying
the wide receivers. If you look at Philadelphia with Jalen Hurts,
Tae Kwon Barkley and the two wide receivers, they spent
(21:14):
as bunch of money as the Bengals did on their
quarterback running back in two wide receivers.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
But the difference is the Bengals, John, and you know
this is a mom and pop Stuart. That's okay, It's
totally different financially, it really is, because the Bengals haven't
paid people in a long time. And this is Joe
put pressure on him. That's all I'm saying. They don't
have the Eagles money. The Eagles can kick the can
down the road and pay a lot more money, right.
Speaker 8 (21:44):
And of course we see what the Bengals do all
the time. Their offensive line coach was let go by
the Patriots last year. Their defensive line coach was let
go by the Patriots last year. So the Patriots are
playing their offensive and defensive line coaches. They just don't
spend money on those other things besides players. I just
don't think he going to retire it. And Ben mallistalk
last night. He's a huge Borough fan and he's also
(22:05):
a huged Rams fan, so he's trying to connect the
dots and say Hollywood Joe with La next year or
the following year. Maybe he's just tired of that and
wants to go somewhere else. And before I go, Rob,
I just want to ask you, because she worked in Cincinnati,
how tough is it for someone like that to be
in Cincinnati when he is the only star and he
seems like a really private kid. If he's in a
place like La, he's one of hundreds of sports as
(22:28):
the movie stars.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Cincinnati is a small town. You know you only got
there thanks for the call. We appreciate that. Two teams
exactly and it's different. But he's got star talent. So
no matter where he goes, he's that guy. Like when
he went to Kansas City, they would called him uh
Burroughhead because he beat the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
Now, this isn't the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (22:52):
Now, he beat the Peak Chiefs and two or three
games and the one game he lost. Rob, do you
remember that that bad call on my hold on the sideline?
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Right?
Speaker 5 (23:03):
Like he could have beaten him three times during their heyday.
So I have a lot of respect for his game.
Let's squeeze one more rim before we get to Steve
Charlie in Dayton, Ohio. You're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio, Dayton, Ohio, the home of one of the
greatest baseball writers of all time.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
How McCoy, what's happened in Charlie? What's going on?
Speaker 9 (23:25):
Fellas?
Speaker 1 (23:26):
What's up?
Speaker 4 (23:26):
Happy holidays?
Speaker 7 (23:28):
Hey?
Speaker 8 (23:28):
Rob?
Speaker 9 (23:29):
Rob would probably stay different because he remembers Ken Anderson,
he watched him play, and he saw Boomer play. All
though I'm sure kids are better, but I think Joe Burrow,
you know, just in my opinion, is the greatest Thingle
has ever lived. He went to back to back AFT
title games, sefishly. I hope he you know, I hope
he sticks around another ten years because in my mind,
(23:52):
I'm like, he's not even half way through his career,
and I know he's had he said three down years.
Speaker 5 (23:57):
But but but my only thing is when you hear
a twenty year old talk about not having fun, that
that Charlie is when I start to that prokes me up.
Speaker 9 (24:05):
Well, you know who he reminds me of?
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Who's that after after those.
Speaker 9 (24:11):
Five those first five years with aj Green and Andy Dalton,
when we went to the playoffs every year, all of
a sudden we stopped going to the playoffs and aj
Green just he just you know, he just started. It's
gotta be hard when you come in and you like
it comes off a National title championship, comes in and
his first full season goes to the super Bowl and
(24:32):
almost went. The very next year, it goes right back
to the NFC title and almost went right yeah, and
then and then nothing since then has worked.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
Out, no doubt. And you the call doubt.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
You combine that with all the drama, with the signings
and injuries and all that I just think that weighs
on him ways on a twenty nine year old, more
than the average person would think. All right, appreciate the cause.
On the way, uh a Detroit legend. Maybe on the
move with you? What we're talking about next? Right now,
we're checking in with Steve the Segregett. You seting with trending.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Hey, Steve, be sure to catch live editions of The
Odd Couple with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at
seven pm Eastern, four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Right, Steve, thank you so much appreciated od Couple Robin
Kelvin on a TV themes on Thursday. Every goal starts
with an assist on and off the field. That's why
Haleyon and US Soccer are launching for the Assists. It's
a celebration of everyday acts of support that help people
achieve their goals with iconic brands like Censini, Toms, Voltairean Advil,
(25:37):
and Centrum. And if you want to learn more, head
on over to haley On Assists dot com. So go
check that out, all right, mister MLB bro, because you
needs to know. And Hall of Fame Baseball voter voting,
have it nominating people whatever, Tigers, we got to talk
about Schooble, obviously one of the best pitchers, if not
maybe one two in all of bass.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
People are freaking out that thes are working on the
deal to get Schooble add.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
To their rotation. Listen, do you jump? Do you do?
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Pull some? God bless the dead some David Stern if
you're rocked, man for like, OK, I gotta pull something
and this this is gone too far.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
There's nothing they can do if they can you know, maneuver.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
There's something contract up in the contract that you know
I can there's something betterment for the league.
Speaker 4 (26:20):
Oh no, there is the there.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
It happened in the seventies when Charlie Finley of the
A's was selling his players.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
He sold Joe Rudy, he sold to the Yankees and
Red Sox.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
He sold three star players to the Yankees and Red Sox,
and Commissioner Buie Kane stepped in and said, uh, what.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Was the rule?
Speaker 4 (26:42):
It was for the not the betterment of baseball.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
But he's like that, yeah, he knicksed the sale that
that Charlie Finley couldn't sell the players. Uh, in this case,
if I'm the Tigers, my goal would be not to
trade Tark schoobl Now, I'm not going to be the
Angels and hold on the show hey and get nothing
and let the guy walk on me. Like remember they
had won like six out of seven right before the trade.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Oh no, wait a minute, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
The only way I'm not trading Tark schoolbl is that
the Tigers are firmly in front in the Al Central.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
We feel like we got a good team.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
We're gonna make a run, and maybe we could squeeze
a trip to the World Series or something out of it.
And then if he needs to bounce, then I could
do it. If we're under five hundred or a round
five hundred a team, you don't feel like magic or
good about it?
Speaker 4 (27:32):
Oh no, no, load it up.
Speaker 5 (27:35):
Uh sure, you probably could get more now because probably
wouldn't A team would take more of a chance knowing
that you have the whole season to get him to
agree to sign a new deal, or you could flex
and have him sign a deal now, like Okay, here's
four hundred and fifty million or whatever the number is,
(27:56):
but you're not going to take him, and the team
could take him, the rent him. If you think he
could push you over the top to win, will Yep,
you'll be willing to do that if you're a Tiger
fan and your heartbroken. But I just don't think that
they're going to pay the money. Targe Schooble's not giving
you a hometown discount. He's not Martha the Vendela's and
(28:16):
he's not doing all that because he's motown, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
Right, And I just don't think that ultimately he's going
to stay. He's going to go to the highest bidder.
I'm looking up.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
He is.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
Twenty nine years old, so he's right dead smack in
the middle of.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
His prime.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
And he's coming off back to back young No, he's incredible.
But one thing we've learned in baseball, you can be
the best or one of the all time greatest pitchers
and a sport has been around one hundred and fifty
maybe fifty plus years, and it not necessarily mean you're
not expendable. And you look at guys like Randy Johnson,
(28:59):
page of our tinez uh Max Shirs. If you want
to go you know some more recent guys justin Erlander,
guys be hopping some teams and going from teams, and
these are elites. Still Max Shirws almost was in the
World Series.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
No he was.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
I mean, I mean Max shirs was almost helped to
win the World Series. What I'm meant to say, And
you can be that good and still move and still
go places. You can be Randy Johns one of the
greatest Walter and move and go places. So to me,
this is kind of just power for the course in baseball,
Clayton Kershaw is more of a rarity, you know what
I mean, where you're just this, come through the system,
stick around, win some World Series and then retire there
(29:36):
like that's and especially retire winning another back to back
World Series time. That's a whole another la script.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
Right, I'm one of these guys who loves that Derk
Gita played his whole career. Seriously, well we all want that.
But Clayton Kershaw, I'm just saying it, Like to me,
if you can, if you have a player of that ILK,
it'd be great if could have BUTJA could have gon
on and play. It was like Jackie Robinson got traded,
(30:04):
I think to the giant retired.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
I'm not.
Speaker 5 (30:08):
I'm not. Weare anybody's up. You know what I mean,
Brooklyn Dodgers, I'm good and that was it. He retire
prematurely because he when he got traded, he didn't want
to He didn't want to wear another uniform.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
I want that, I feel you. You know, I grew
up seeing that with he saw a Trammel and where
to play twenty years together at shortstopping second base? What
what guys played twenty years together in the same position, right?
And then you know you see it with Isaiah Thomas.
All he though he did would just be a piston.
Speaker 5 (30:35):
And but I remember when people were trying to get
him to go to Knicks, to go to New York
to play with Patrick Ewing when they were trying to win,
and he was like, that's Patrick's team.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
I ain't going on, especially that era. That era was
more not going nowhere. So but I say that to say,
we've seen this happen before. This star pitcher, amazing young phenom.
It ain't go elsewhere, right. We see a rod is
the hottest thing ever, and then he goes to the
Texans and then he goes to the Yankee so Texas Rangers.
So my point is, as much as I would love
(31:04):
to see him obviously, stay there. I got people texting
and sad, all my friends, everybody back home. It's just
kind of powerful, the course, because one man doesn't change
that much. One man can help you get over the hump.
If you're the Dodgers and you're already really good and
I get a show, hey, if you're Dodgers and you're
already great with a show, hey, and you get a
blake snail. But one guy him in and of himself,
(31:26):
doesn't help. And we saw last year he was playing.
He was pitching out of his mind. You and I
were sitting here watching the games, and go, can he
get more than two runs?
Speaker 4 (31:34):
Right? He couldn't get any runs.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
So I can see why you would let someone go
and get a bunch of other assets, get a bunch
of other players in baseball because one man can't do
as much. I would be not like Withoy Peak Steph,
where you're like you never do that. With the Mets,
they got two young pitchers who both debuted last year.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
Yep, yep, I take both of them.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Give me if you're gonna give me them, give me
them a couple of position players and come, you know,
in a draft pick or something and this makes sense
in baseball, right, I would do it if you're gonna
lose the guy. And they know what the parameters are.
There's gotty much. Scott bars is his Uh, you already
know what you're dealing with, right, there's no discounts coming.
(32:15):
Were you here today? We had them on? Yeah, yeah,
I see he was. You know, he was talking that
money boy all right? All the way. We got Shekel
City Player of the Day as well. It is the
odd couple on the TV themes on Thursday Robin kelvin
Fox Sports of Radio and before we go to break
here gotta tell you all about errands. Let's talk about
it right now, because Aaron's just broke the holiday universe
wide open. They're coming in hot with no payments until January.
(32:38):
Wary first, that's right, you don't pay anything until the
start of next year. And the best part is you
start with just a penny. And I'm talking about a penny,
the one you got in your pocket, the one you
got sitting around and your astray that penny. If you
got one, congratulations, you're basically preapproved and already halfway there.
So here's what matters. Aarons has been taking care of
communities for seventy years. We're talking seven deck helping people
(33:01):
bring home the good stuff, brand new, name brand furniture, appliances, electronics, mattresses,
which I need a new one of all the things
that turn the house into a home and make your
holidays feel warm, welcoming and also seriously impressive. So remember
this offer is in store only and it won't wait
around forever. So get moving, get festive, and get your
(33:22):
place holiday ready. So because Santa may not come early,
but Aaron's just did prep that holiday home. Walk in
with confidence and strutting to errands like you own the
place because this season you basically do.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Fox Sports Radio, A Couple Your Boys, Rob Parker, Kelvin
Washington t V themes. So on Thursday, looking forward to
your favorite part of the week, that is Tyson's Tower Trivia.
You're gonna be coming up in our last hour, looking
forward to that next hour. We got the college kids
with Mark Gunnell's We do that every week. That'll be
a good one. See what he's got going on in
the big ten. So we'll get to that in a
(34:07):
little bit. Is now time for Shekel City.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Welcome to Shekel City, the whole base for Rob Parker's
daily dicks against the Spring.
Speaker 4 (34:22):
Did I knew that? Did I knew that? I? Did
you do? How did you do? It was only one game?
You remembers?
Speaker 1 (34:31):
How's it keeping only one games going on right now?
Speaker 4 (34:33):
It was do some hockey or something? Nah, we would do.
Speaker 5 (34:37):
I did the next game minus six and a half.
And guess what what they won?
Speaker 1 (34:44):
Was it?
Speaker 4 (34:44):
Last night?
Speaker 7 (34:45):
Last night was Lakers Spurs and thunder Suns raph Oh wait.
Speaker 5 (34:49):
A minute, lutely, no, no, no, no at all, I want
Rember took the Spurs plus the points.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
No, don you remember, I'm what was the other game, Rob,
g That was thunder signs. I don't think you did.
So if you took the Thunder no matter what the
spread was, you want out? Yeah? No, no, no, I know,
Annie took one game. I don't think I think you
did very right.
Speaker 5 (35:14):
So that was the one game I did. Take the
Spurs plus the four and a half.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
That was the one.
Speaker 5 (35:19):
So now ninety one and eighty two. Uh is the
record ninety one and eighty two.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
City today this week? No clean it off for your days.
It's been weird with the games and the town random.
God give it to you. We've been having some random one.
Speaker 4 (35:35):
Game, no game. Yeah, all right tonight, all right.
Speaker 5 (35:39):
I got Tampa Bay as the best bet minus five
and a half.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
Tampa Bay minus five and a half.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
You don't believe in Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
No, so I.
Speaker 5 (35:48):
Got that one. And then I'm taking Denver minus ten
and a half. They're playing in the NBA Siberia better
than order Sacramento Denver minus ten and a half, Yes,
over the Kegs. And then the Pelicans, the poor Pelicans
three and twenty two.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
I got suck. I got the.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Pelicans plus twenty two plus three and a half.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
No, he's he's hurt. Wants him now hosting the Portland
trail Blazers. I'm gonna take Pelicans overdue for a when
plus three and a half hosting the trail Blazer.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
Are they three and twenty two? They don't do it often?
Speaker 4 (36:27):
My good overdue?
Speaker 5 (36:28):
All right, So there you go, and remember, Kelvin, I'm
not telling you who to bet on. I'm telling you
who I bet on. I'm rob G. I'm writing these
down for Thursday so that we'll know tomorrow. Okay, I
got Tampa Bay, I got Denver.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
You just have Elijah hr U What did I say?
Speaker 4 (36:49):
And the Pelicans?
Speaker 5 (36:50):
No, because Elijah and I haven't been on the same page,
so I haven't been able to post them on social Mediaay, Elijah.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
We're gonna go on with y'all, right now, Okay, Now.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Yeah, I've been here. He's busy. I was kind of
I hit him with a couple of h r.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
Us and he's been he feeling him, been feeling himself
ever since he came back from his little trip. Oh wow,
coming in with all different cool little jackets and stuff. Yeah,
he feeling feeling himself a little bit. We got a
big one. You mentioned you got the the Bucks tonight, right,
You said they don't beat.
Speaker 5 (37:18):
The Falcons who lost to the Jets. I don't even
like the season, but want to wrap it up. Baker
Mayfield like, seriously, yeah, they got to win this game. Obviously,
they gotta win this one.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Sitting at seven and six, start off a really good season.
Everybody at a high host. Baker was an MVP candidate.
Then man, it's just a bunch of injuries. And now
Bakers had four games in a row. Remember he was
chucking that thing all around the yard. Now four games
in a row under two hundred yards, so he's been struggling.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
And rob a couple of their receivers are coming back there.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Yeah, Mike Evans, who it's been like the most stable.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
I loved him on good times.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
No, that's that's his brother, that that was his uncle.
Uh So I'm looking at this right now. The Panthers
unexpected to see and they're right. They're both tied in seven
and six, but Bucks have the tiebreaker there, so the
seven and six they can't lose this man, And I
know it's and I know it's just the Falcons, but
with all their injuries, Falcons might as well be a spoiler.
(38:14):
You know, once you get to the end of the season,
teams know they're season over. They like to play spoiler.
They like to let's just ruin the rest of the season.
I'm just saying it ain't gonna be easy.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
It's a divisional game. What are you saying?
Speaker 1 (38:26):
I ain't saying that with kirk y Kirk Jokaz and
not my cousin.
Speaker 4 (38:29):
He's yokas.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
Let me see, I'm trying to pull it the Bucks
the rest of their schedule though, to see what they got.
Speaker 4 (38:34):
It's a big game, it's at home. The Falcons just
lost to the Jets.
Speaker 5 (38:37):
I'm sorry if you if you're in that locker room
and then you're like, oh, we don't know if we're
gonna beat them because it's a division game.
Speaker 4 (38:42):
I mean a division game. I think you're in a
bad spot.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Next week gonna be a good one for the Bucks,
whether win or lose. Obviously they expect to win, but
they play the Panthers next week, and if the Panthers
were to win, that'll be a huge one for that division.
Who thought the Panther. There's a couple of teams like
we all forgot the Jaggs. As you know, Jags ain't
gonna do nothing. Jags, Panthers, and a handful of teams that
have showed up and low key. The Dolphins have salvaged
(39:07):
the season a little bit. How dare they? I was saying,
Mike McDaniels, gotta go
