Speaker 2 (01:20):
He'll join us. Also last call Pigskin pickoff.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Unfortunately, Kelvin has already made his pick, So Carrie, you
know you can like pick along. Kelvin is so bad,
just just terrible. I see I see RG over there.
I mean he's really bad, like like you know, but
you know, it is what it is. And I used

(01:45):
to beat up on Chris, but this is ridiculous. I
mean the other day he said, no, Moss, I mean
he said, did he send in the picks or let
he let his three daughters pick the football game? Oh
my god, it's been bad, Like is he that bad?
It's been really really bad. But it's all good. I'm
happy because I'm but I'm still doing well. You shouldn't
be happy that I'm in a building though, No, I know,
I want to see what picks you have matched up

(02:08):
to his picks.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
All right, we did talk about it real briefly. Kelvin
has not had a winning weeks is week six?

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Oh that's how long went right? We're at week's what fifteen?
That's crazy? Come on, Kelvin, that's bad. So do you
I was asking you, do you get a real tree
or what kind of tree do you put up in
your house?

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (02:27):
I mean yes, I've gotten a real tree before obviously,
But the last last couple of years I did my
Charlie Brown thing.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Did it? What a little one?

Speaker 1 (02:35):
But is it fake? Yeah, a little fake, a little
fake one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got it. I
like my house to smell like pond. You like the pine? Yeah,
I do it, I really do. Because it's only for
a few weeks, and you know the house, the tree
has to be out of the house by January first.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Oh, you get it right out? Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Like that was a tradition in our family. We had
all these kind of traditions. The first person to visit
your house on the New Year's Day has to be
a man, to give the house good luck, the family, all.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Kinds of stuff. My mom was very supers.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, so for a woman came or female came, she
wouldn't let him until from the first blocking that there
you ever hear that? I know, it's crazy, right, that
was stuff like that. You always had pig feet and
potato salad. You're from the South. I know you didn't
need pig feet. I did not.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yeah, rob g, you've had pig feet? Correct? Yes, like it?
Not like it too?

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Finey, it's fine, Alex. Have you ever had it? Pigs
are dirty. But Chris, have you had pig feet?

Speaker 4 (03:32):
You know?

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Chris had he tried.

Speaker 6 (03:33):
You know, I lived in Savannah for in Savannah for
five years, in North Carolina for three I don't think
I've ever had pigs feet.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
No, No, Elijah, what about you? Pigs feet?

Speaker 7 (03:44):
No, pigs feet, Rob, I had pigs feet here in
studio like a week ago, did you.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Yeah? I had had menudo, which is a soup, and
I thought that was a bad un. Don't say anything racist,
don't do it.

Speaker 7 (03:57):
No, But at the place I get it, you can
ask for a side off they call bought my feet
and you put that in the soup and you get
all the juices and the fat off of it.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
So, Rob, is it similar to like send culture? It's
kind of huh Yeah, okay, what are you guys speaking Spanish?
I can't understand what's going. Yeah, he didn't know. I
was gonna say that. But no, and sant culture they
usually put the chicken though, the chicken feet, really chicken feet.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yeah, it's good. Pigs feet.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
It's fatty, and like I say, pigs are gross, you
know what I mean? But like once it can taste good. Yeah, well,
bacon does taste good. But once a year to have
pig feet on New Year's Day, so the only day
we had it.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
But why that was a look like a tradition and
good luck for our family.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
And my mom always cooked pigs feet, wow and potatoes house.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
I was out there, the mom from the South.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah, she's from Alabama there, so she was a Southern woman,
h rob G. So you know I was down on
this philip Rivers return and I went off the other day.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Carry you were ready for that, weren't you? Yes?

Speaker 1 (04:57):
No, that was the mahomes when you were ready for
to No, I was gonna put them on home all
but rob G. Some executives have their thoughts about this
as well.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
NFL executives. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (05:09):
The Athletic did a good piece on Friday discussing philip
Rivers upcoming. I guess debut he would call it with
Inneapolis colts after five years. I would call it a day, Bud,
the renaissance, whatever you want to call it. They spoke
to nine anonymous coaches and executives to get their thoughts
in his return. Three of them said like, hey, let's
wait and see. They try to be optimistic. Six of

(05:30):
them said, this is going to be a terrible decision,
one of them saying, quote, fun story, really fun story,
but I think it's going to be a disaster. Another
executives look at their schedule. It's not going to work.
They have a tough row with really good defenses. Philip
is a sitting duck, and Carrie, I'm with them. I

(05:51):
think this is terrible. This is so Indianapolis Colts.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
There's a reason that teams don't win, you know, like
they say, oh, we're snake bid or we got bad luck,
or there are reasons that teams don't win. When they
hired Jeff's Saturday with no experience, seriously, and they tried,
they were going to be oh no, and then a
lot of players, former players, they all they who was it?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Bill Cower on CBS. I lost a lot for Bill.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
First, he condemned it because it and he should have
because it goes against all the people put in the
work to be conscious or qualified, like for him to
skip the line because he was drinking buddies with the
late owner of the Colts.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Like, he condemned it.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Then they won their first game, and then he went
on CBS and oh he beat the Raiders and he went,
oh yeah, I'm all it's about being a leader man,
and you know, and and all this stuff. And as
you remember, the season collapsed after that. It was awful.
What was that game when they were up by the
threaty points? And they remember that game? They lost that game.

(07:02):
But but but really really bad. And in this case,
this is why the cults are bad. So they had
this great start of the season. I get it, Danny
Dimes whatever you want to call it, Danny Pennies whatever.
He was already you know, on his way down as
far as the style of play and how well he
was doing. But there's nobody else to quarterback. You go,

(07:24):
get this is like a forty four year old guy
hadn't played in the league in five years, and you're
gonna put him out there with this hope that he's
going to be He's going to buck the trend. He's
going to bring you some magic juju. He's gonna somehow
turn this will be a disaster. I sat on this

(07:45):
very radio show with Mike Tyson for Jake Paul and
people Rob g how many people called in, right you
were you You bought in? People just all bought in.
Oh my god, Mike, do you look see Mike Tyson
on the internet. Look at him. He's in great shape, dude. No,
he's a sixty year old man fighting at thirty year

(08:06):
old man. Yes, let's not in the NFL the best
players in their twenties and thirties.

Speaker 5 (08:13):
Yeah, yeah, no, this this is not gonna this is
not gonna end. Well, Rob, this guy is the same.
He came out the same year I came out to college.
That's crazy. And I'm sitting here with you and I
look like I'm in shape at least, right, And I
know I can't go out there and do it and
you and you look like you're like and I actually
still work out and I do that. When you look

(08:34):
at Philip Rivers, you know he does not do that.
And so for him and for the Colts to team
up and make this thing happen and give all us
old guys this hope that we can go out there
and do this, it's just it's just wrong.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Now.

Speaker 5 (08:49):
Am I hoping for the best for Phillip because I
know him, Yes i am, But there's no way he's
gonna save this Colt season in this scenario.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
And with the teams they got to play down the
stretch right.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Playing some lesser competition again, that may help as well.
But they're playing the Texans, the forty nine ers, the Seahawks,
and all these teams are fighting for playoff position. They're
gonna come out. Now, let me ask you, he's gonna
be a sitting duck. You're the defensive coordinator and you
have the game plan. Is it a jail break? Are

(09:20):
you going after him? Do you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Like? What do you? What do you do?

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Are they the colt scored just a steady dogthan Taylor.
Jonathan Taylor like every down unless they have a third
down and they need a passing play or one hundred.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
If you from the Fox sport, if you think he's.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
Gonna go out there and dissect defenses in day one
and make every right read and be keen and sharp
enough up here to make that happen being away from
the game, you're fooling yourself. So they're gonna have to
be It's gonna have to be a steady diet of
Jonathan Taylor, right, But also he's gonna have to make throws,
and he's coming against Seattle.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
That happens, right, But they're.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Throws that are gonna be needed needed, it's gonna have
to make some throws the game, and they're not listen again.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
I hope it works out, Rob, I do. It's just
not though, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
I just it's it's mind boggling to me from the
standpoint of these are multi million dollar organizations. They got
all of these people, you know how many coaches and
staff people.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
I'm sorry, Rob, you know the other thing about this though,
They've put all their eggs in the basket though, like
they have to win. And so when you put yourself
in these situations where there's not a want, it's a
need to win. You started out so great, you had
all this, all this talk, all this buzz. You make
the trades of the Jets for sauce gardener, like you
need to win. Now make that trade exactly. I mean, suriously,

(10:44):
I think sauce is probably the bad luck.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
It came from the Jets, right, that's you're already probably
have done that, huh. And they gave up two first
round picks. They gotta win, Rob. And when you were
in that situation, Christian Salaris, the GM if this thing
blows up in their face and they, you know, lose
the last four or whatever he does and play well
and they need probably need to part way, so they

(11:06):
should fire them.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yes, you already mortgage the future, right, you've done all
of that, even in the Danny Dimes.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
I mean I get it, like it like, did you
really think there's too much bad tape on him out there?

Speaker 2 (11:18):
You know, to really buy in?

Speaker 1 (11:20):
And I know early on I looked at the schedule
they didn't play anybody, and and I'm not I know,
you still gotta beat him, got to play and all
that the other stuff. But I do look at who
you play and who you beat and those kind of things,
and I'm just expecting bad.

Speaker 5 (11:35):
I'm really expecting bad. But it's not even about who
you beat. It's about how you're playing, even when you're
losing or winning in certain situations, it's about how you plan.
If you're playing the right way that that that takes you,
you know, that carries you out a little bit more
as well.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Yeah, do they make the playoffs? No, so you say
they don't even make the playoffs? All they're done right now,
They're gonna finish third in that division.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Wow?

Speaker 5 (11:59):
Yeah, I mean the Texans, I said, the Texans is
going to win the division now as they've turned the corner.
But Jacksonville is in first place, so I mean it's
it's gonna be tough sledding for the colts.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Yeah, it is such a mess, such a mess, all right.

We got a lot to get to.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Uh. Let's kick it off with Justin in New Mexico.
You're in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
What's up Justin?

Speaker 9 (14:55):
Hey, guys?

Speaker 2 (14:56):
How are you hey doing? Man?

Speaker 9 (14:58):
Doing great?

Speaker 7 (14:59):
Man?

Speaker 9 (14:59):
Hey, Mary, Chris, to see you guys. God bless you too.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
We appreciate the support, my man. And we're wondering about
the old man Rivers or what I'm calling him?

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Talk to me?

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Yes, where are you on this? How well will he do?

Speaker 10 (15:13):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (15:14):
Man? Well man, there's so much stuff to unpack on
this conversation. Man. First of all, I want to know
you mean to tell me there's not a quarterback out there?

Speaker 2 (15:24):
Crazy? I think that's crazy.

Speaker 9 (15:27):
It's available. You're calling a forty four year man office
couch who ain't throwing a football pass? And how how
many years Bro three or.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Four five played in the NFL in five years?

Speaker 9 (15:39):
And then I go back to this, you're telling me
Colin Kaepernick wasn't ready to play this is man. I
just hate it. Bro, this is I hope. I wish
the best for the guy, but in hindsight, it's not
going to work out. And it just it just goes
to show how there's a lot of nepotism in the NFL. Man,

(16:02):
there really is.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
I have an issue, and you know I have an
issue with it, and that they told us that Kaepernick
was too old. I remember, he hadn't played Rusty Kaepernick.
Even if you took him now, it's still thirty eight,
it's still way younger than Philip Rivers, and he didn't
get another opportunity. I'm always I'm always going to be
salty about that whole situation.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
I just am because I didn't think it was fair.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Tim Chili, Tim in Atlanta, you're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
What's up, Chili?

Speaker 11 (16:32):
What up? Old Man River?

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Hey, you heard us when we played that the other day,
didn't you?

Speaker 12 (16:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (16:41):
Yeah I did.

Speaker 12 (16:41):
That was crazy, A real quick story.

Speaker 9 (16:45):
What's up?

Speaker 11 (16:45):
Carry?

Speaker 12 (16:46):
One day, I was in a doctor's office in years ago,
and so this older lady, you know, she was trying
to hit on me, and somebody said, man, you know
that was a cougar. I said, no, that was a
savor too.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Ah, that's pretty good. But that's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
But the best part about messing with a saber tooth
or cougars you don't have to worry about getting anybody pregnant, you.

Speaker 9 (17:08):
Know what I'm saying, You know, my man of God.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
You know, yes, I know, not for you get fired,
not you.

Speaker 12 (17:22):
But but with Philip Rivers, man, you know, I think
he's just arguing it back to the days and when
guys like Eli him, Tom Brady, Peyton, those things are
gone from the guys who are not mobile, you know,
are not athletic, Like it's not that same league anymore.
I just think, you know, you can't think of hardly

(17:43):
any quarterbacks in the NFL that aren't mobile, and the
less athletic ones struggle you know, to play now, So
why not call see the Giants want to release Jameis
Winston or some of these other dudes that you know,
it's the end of the season.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
I know that you can't make it right, but but
couldn't they get somebody to release or look around?

Speaker 2 (18:03):
This gotta be what I'm.

Speaker 12 (18:04):
Saying, Yeah, it's gotta be somebody you can do better
than this. I just feel bad for him. I don't
think it's going anywhere for him.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Yeah, just it just reaks desperation, that's all. It is,
really really bad. How about Rockefeller in Louisiana. What's up Rockefeller?
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up,
my man?

Speaker 4 (18:22):
What's happening? What was halving? Rob and carry?

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Terry Man?

Speaker 4 (18:25):
Nice to talk to one of my favorite football players
to play in the league when you.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
Was playing, Oh man, I appreciate that.

Speaker 4 (18:32):
I mean, I chieved. It's one of my favorite positions
that always did.

Speaker 10 (18:35):
Love your game and stuff I love. I love Aan Reid, who.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
I think is the best safety ever, Trensky free safe day.
But I loved your game too. I just thought you
could have played a little bit longer.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
I don't know why you were tiring, But I appreciate that, baby,
Thank you so much.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
But yeah, but Rob kind of stole my thunder with that.
And Rob always got some great points when it comes
to some of this stuff and love. I mean, I
mean Peter Rivers, I mean I kind of don't understand
if he's in training camp and you've been through you know,
you kind of been with the team all year and
you know, you're kind of been having a little a
few loud rounds throw on your way and stuff like that,
you know, but just to get calling off the couch

(19:12):
and stuff. And you've been eating uh, stuffed potatoes and
stuff like that, you know.

Speaker 10 (19:19):
And you come in and you come in all this
and all this what you.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Expect to see it the d and I see it
a lot like you know, like about the Coast. Man
says a lot about the Coast too. I know it's
a small sample size, that Richard Center and stuff. But
you got a quarterback there that yn't doesn't even like
they're really develop right and stuff. Y'all haven't developed him properly.
He haven't really given a chance to fully developed before
y'all gonna say, okay, well we don't have a guy,
and y'all just go sign this guy, bring him on

(19:43):
the team and stuff. And that Rob's saying with Kapernick's
only thirty eight.

Speaker 10 (19:46):
Right now, Yeah, you know, sound right.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
I mean, they got guys out there that's way other
than Philip Rivers that probably give you all offensive chance.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
And you know what, let me say this, Rockefeller, guess
who went to the Super Bowl? Was it Philip Rivers
or Colin Kaepernick who went to the Super Bowl right right?

Speaker 4 (20:04):
You know, so, I mean that's that's like I said.

Speaker 10 (20:07):
Man, it's crazy, man, But there was no way.

Speaker 4 (20:09):
How to bring him back. And like I said, maybe
if he'd have been in the training camp and whatever,
you know and stuff right there, who knows the kind
of sheep that have been.

Speaker 10 (20:16):
In and stuff. But I just not playing five years
live actionally come at you. It's kind of difficult, man,
with these pass rushers to thee and you had a
tough division with the coats and all this with the.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
With the it's bad. It's bad all the way around.
Rob G.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
We got a bet coming up. We got a bet
coming up. Rob G wants to bet me? You know me,
I'm always putting those chicken wing bats, Jordan bats.

Speaker 5 (20:41):
How are you want to? You know, how are you
chicken wings? What do you got me for? It was
the Jets. They gotta they gotta win? What five games?
Oh yeah, you got Where are they at right now?

Speaker 2 (20:50):
What they are? They four? They got three wins? The
four ROBZ, I think they got four?

Speaker 10 (20:55):
Now?

Speaker 11 (20:55):
Right?

Speaker 2 (20:56):
They have three?

Speaker 1 (20:57):
Okay, I get my wing, Well they get the five win,
but they're not getting a file stop you know chance?

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Was it Brady Cook? That's by Cook, Bradie Cook. Yeah,
I thought, doesn't he do a morning show on?

Speaker 9 (21:11):
So?

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Okay, it's Rob. Here's the bet.

Speaker 7 (21:13):
Okay, here, you are very clearly in the anti Philip
Rivers camp.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
You don't think it's gold Dad at all all day.
But you are very.

Speaker 7 (21:20):
Clearly in the Caleb Williams camp, are you not. Yes,
here's the bet I want to make with you. For
the rest of the year. We'll bet a slice of
cheesecake for you and ten weeks like cheese cake, ten
weeks from.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Vanela bean from across. Yes, so one slice of cheesecake
against ten wings. I will bet you.

Speaker 7 (21:38):
I will bet you that Philip Rivers has a better
passer rating rest of the season than Caleb Williams.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
You gotta give me more because because he's not gonna throw.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
The ball that just Saturday ninety eight years ago. He's
gonna die on the field.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
No, but when you're expecting a cardioc to roup, but
I want to make sure that I'm not because he's
not gonna throw as many passes, I don't think.

Speaker 5 (21:58):
So you don't believe it, Caleb, I believe we can
make that Alex can the song.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
No no, no, we no, we can make that bet,
and I'll take that bet. Uh.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
But there's no doubt in my mind that I'm gonna
win the bet because I'm not betting on old man Rivers.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Bus and rolling. No, there you go, vibrado, Philip Rivers

(22:42):
gets hurt?

Speaker 4 (22:42):
Right?

Speaker 2 (22:43):
Is the bet before?

Speaker 3 (22:43):
No?

Speaker 2 (22:44):
No, it does not. On the first place gonna be
Aaron Rodgers. The first place is gonna go back in
my four snaps. O man, unbelievable. All right, it is
the odd couple. Uh.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
Coming up Eric Williams from Fox Sports, he's an NFL reporter.
But first, Chris perfret uh with the update, Chris, you
want to say?

Speaker 2 (23:05):
What's I gotta say? Though?

Speaker 6 (23:06):
Like the last couple of throws Rivers took before he
was out of the league, it's pretty good stuff in Indy?
Is still all the same five years ago? I know,
five years ago, five years think about yourself.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Five years ago. I could think about myself five years
wearing masks five years five years ago, I rob g
five years ago. Well you a better person. Alex five
years ago is not a better person. I'm the wrong person.
I'm thinner now, So what's up? Yeah, but that don't
mean you don't feel better about yourself. Five years ago.
You were five years ago, I was still knocking on people.

(23:38):
That's what happened right now, Rob, Right, Alex, you were
good five years ago, even better now.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
There you go. All gotta say.

Speaker 6 (23:45):
Gotta say, though, I think Rob's got the right of it,
just because I don't think he's gonna play.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (23:49):

Speaker 2 (24:01):
And now let's welcome in out guests.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
He is Eric Williams from Fox Sports, of course, an
NFL reporter, joining us here on the odd couple.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
What's up, Eric, How are you?

Speaker 11 (24:12):
What's going on?

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Fellas?

Speaker 11 (24:13):
I'm doing great. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
I appreciate you, no doubt about it.

Speaker 5 (24:16):
Eric, We've been we've been on this Philip Rivers train
right now. When that's how crazy this is, that this
is happening right now and this is the last resort
for the for the Colts. I mean, what are you,
what are you? What are you feeling about this? Situation.

Speaker 10 (24:30):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 11 (24:30):
Covered Philip for six years both in San Diego and
Los Angeles, know him well. I've seen him play a lot.
Hopefully you know, you have a hallmark ending here and
he doesn't get hurt exactly. You know, he's trying to
be positive and optimistic about it. You know, obviously it's crazy.
It's been out five years. You know, when Philip played,

(24:52):
he wasn't the kind of guy that ran around anyway,
so people know where to find him. He's going to
be in the pocket. Phil's no first toughness. You know,
home play two hundred and forty straight, you know, starts
played through pain, played win a c L, torn a
c L, and the AFC Championship game.

Speaker 12 (25:08):
Everybody that.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
Yeah, So, I.

Speaker 11 (25:11):
Mean I think Philis gonna go out there and throw
the ballground because that's just who he is.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Like, I'm thinking that's the game plan. Really with Jonathan.

Speaker 11 (25:21):
Around the yard, I'm not saying that's the game plan.
I'm saying Philip when he gets into a game and
starts to be competitive, and if they get behind, which
they probby are going to be behind, they're gonna have
to throw the ball right like in order to get
back into it, and that means Philip's going to be
trying to sling it around a little bit. Obviously, they
they'd like to run the ball to protect him, but

(25:42):
Sales defense pretty good.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
You know.

Speaker 11 (25:43):
I was up there a couple of weeks ago when
they played against Minnesota, and they get after it. But
Phil smart, he knows the offense. He's gonna be able
to get them into advantageous, adventageous plays pre snap. I'm
just concerned about when he gets hit, how he's going
to take those hit, how his body's going to respond,
you know, his military's achilles, those kind of things, because

(26:05):
he didn't really have any ramp up to getting out
there and playing professor of football against some of the
best athletes in the world.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Aaron Rodgers had four snaps. I got three snaps for
Philip Rivers. Stop stop that, no, and and here's my eric.
I'm sorry. I think it's a mockery of the game
and a disrespect to the game to take a guy
seriously and not for all that he's done in the past,

(26:33):
not to play five years in the National Football League,
take a guy off the street basically and say okay, yeah,
go ahead.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
In the game. Uh, It's just it's.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
Mind boggling to me that there's nobody else on the
planet who played in the.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
UFL, the USFL.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
It's a major college football Colin Kaepernick.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
I could just name you a million people who are.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Younger who dune stuff, and nobody can play other than
Philip Rivers.

Speaker 11 (27:06):
Well, I mean, I think this situation is unique for
a couple of different reasons. Obviously, Shane and Philip are tight.
Shane coach Philip when he was with the Chargers both
as a quarterback coach and offensive coordinator. And if you
were listening to Shane talk, you would think you were
listening to Philip talk. That's how close they are. So
I think that's obviously part of it, is they talk weekly.

(27:30):
I just think familiarity. You know, somebody that knows his
offense inside out and can come in and run it
and doesn't have to learn it because they already know it.
So that gives Philip an advantage to other people that
you could potentially bring in that are apt to come
in and learn it. And then other thing I would
say is, I don't know, if you watch Max Brosner
play for the Vikings, A couple of weeks ago. That's

(27:51):
your alternative is having a guy come in like that
that really had no business being out on the field
because the game is so much faster than than he
can play. So do you want to bring a guy
in like Riley Leonard that's on their roster, that is
going to be playing in Seattle for the first time
in that environment against that defense. You know, I think

(28:11):
that's that's a tall task to ask somebody like that
versus at least Philip has been in that situation. He's
actually played well. Settle Again, I know that was ten
years ago or whatever, but the lights aren't going to
be too bright for him when he goes in in
that stadium in plays.

Speaker 5 (28:29):
But Eric, listen to this, So, like, what about coaching
these guys up to be able to play and run
your offense and be productive in the game, right, Like.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
Ron Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 5 (28:38):
If you're if you're drafting guys to come in to
your team, to your organization, that means you like them,
you like something about them on film.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
I saw them, So why can't these coaches? It is
lazy to me.

Speaker 11 (28:52):
Well, carry you're a player, I mean, if you're on
a team, if you're Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
Would you rather have Philip.

Speaker 11 (29:00):
Rivers, who you at least know that's been there, done it,
even though it was five years ago, or the guy
off the practice squad who you've seen play and you
know probably has no business being out in the field.
I mean, and you're in a position where you're eight
and five and you still have kind of an outside
shot of still making the postseason. So I think you're right.
I mean, it is a hell Mary. Yeah, maybe it

(29:22):
ends up being reckless and something bad happens and he
sustains a significant injury, but I'm here for it. I
wish I could go up and travel and watch the game.
I'm going to be at you know, Lions and Rams
this weekend in Los Angeles. But you know, if I
would have my had my pick, I'd rather go up
there and watch, you know, Philip and see what it's
going to look like.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
I'm definitely going to myself.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I didn't want to ask you one
more about the Chargers and Chiefs and just you know
where Mahomes coming off an awful game, three interceptions, no touchdowns,
just some throws by you know, and everybody was blaming
drops or whatever. Some of those throws weren't that great,
they were behind receivers or whatever. And the Charge this

(30:06):
is a big game, This could knock the Chiefs out.
Where are you on the Chiefs and just how bad
they have looked.

Speaker 11 (30:14):
Yeah, at the beginning of the season, I picked the
Chargers to win the division. I just felt like the
way the Chiefs played in the Super Bowl that that
was kind of the end for this run of this
group of players. With their best players getting older, the
Chargers have a chance to go ahead and end it.
But you're talking about Patrick Mahomes, you're talking about Kelsey,
talking about guys that have done accompassed a lot in

(30:37):
their career and have a lot of pride. They're gonna
be playing at home as well. So I like the
Chiefs in this game, but you know, I would still
think it's going to be an uphield client for them
to reach the postseason in order to go on that
run that they need to make to get there. And
you know, I think Denver's looking pretty good right now
in terms of being able to to win that division

(30:58):
and perhaps host a home game postseason.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yeah, yeah, I just.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
I hear that, and people keep saying, oh, you can't
count out with my home. They've been saying that every week,
and you know what I mean, Like against the Texans.
Oh yeah, they're gonna come and be able to win
that game. No, No, they're not. And I just think
that this might be the final blow. And I know
it's hard for people to buy into it or think
that they are.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Going to eventually lose.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
Well, you always got to retool at some point, right, yeah,
at some point. And I'll just say the last thing
on my homes And I know most people don't like
to say how poorly he's played because of his resume,
but Eric I asks you if you're just honest and
you just forget about, you know, like the past, and
just look at the last couple of years.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
He's not the same quarterback.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
Or should he be.

Speaker 11 (31:52):
I mean he's thirty years old. I mean he's athletically
not the same guy he was when he first came
into the league. And that's what I'm saying. They need
to transition and they need to get him some dudes,
just like Brady transitioned when he got older. They started
creating an offense with more playmakers so he could be
more of a distributor, right and didn't have to do

(32:12):
the heavy lift in that Mahomes has done early in
his career. When you look at their offense, like who
scares you on that offense? Like there's nobody that you
look at in terms of their receivers. Kelsey's not the
same guy. Their running backs are solid, but it's not
Vijon back there. And so I just think that's why
Mahomes is playing like he's playing right now because he

(32:33):
feels like he has to go out there and make
every play for them, which he does for that offense
to operate at option level.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
All right, Eric Williams, my man, we appreciate you. Thanks
for joining us here on the couple.

Speaker 11 (32:44):

the Patriots. Kelvin's got the Patriots, Carrie's got I got
the Bills.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
I'm going with the Bills as well. Patriots aren't that good.
I got the Bills. Game number two, Chargers at home
and in Arrow had taken on the chief charges five
and a half point home favorites.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
Rob Parker likes.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
I like the Chargers charges the Chiefs spread again five
and a half for the charges for the Chiefs the cheese.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
I'm I'm taking the charges the Chiefs of five and
a half point favorite. This is all on rep. But
you know what I mean. Well, they're playing a short
week too, though. Calvin has the Chiefs. That's why. Of
course he's eleven games. He's already got two lost.

Speaker 7 (36:26):
Game number three the game of the week Philip Rivers,
we think, and the Colts in Seattle taking on the Seahawks.
Seahawks thirteen and a half point home favorites. COVID's got
Seattle carry has.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
I got the Colts? Yeah, I got the Colts. I
mean that's the third same point. That's a lot. I
got Seattle.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
I got Philip Rivers throwing two picks and blowing out one.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Achilles wow.

Speaker 7 (36:53):
Man game number four, and if I pick, you can
pick off on the I couple Packers two point road
favorites in Denver taking on the Broncos.

Speaker 2 (37:04):

Speaker 1 (37:08):
I'm gonna take Denver. I'm gonna take Denver. That defense
is something else. Yeah, I'm gonna take the Packers.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
Rob. Oh, Yeah, the Broncos aren't the Broncos overrated?

Speaker 1 (37:18):
Their defense is and that's a defense, yes, for sure,
But that team's overrated.

Speaker 7 (37:23):
Yeah, Kelvin took the Packers. That means a loss for you.
Carry last one Sunday Night Lions at the Rams.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
Rams six point on Sunday.

Speaker 7 (37:33):
I think it's actually afternoon, my bad Rams six point
on favorites. Kelvin's got the Rams in this one against Wow,
who's going against Harry will take?

Speaker 5 (37:46):
I'm a Ram guy, you know. I think you guys
know that about now. I think the Rams win that
one by six for sure.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Yeah, I'm forced to. I mean, I'm in a tough
spot either way. So now I'm gonna go with the
Rams over the line on that spot. Six points A lot,
a lot of a lot of points, it is. And
because you mess up the order, no time for last call,
So you just you're happy about that?

Speaker 2 (38:09):
