Speaker 2 (00:19):
You're listening to the best of the Odd Couple.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
We are about ninety minutes away from the tip off
of the Championship of the NBA Cup. I know Rob
Parker has been locked in at this tournament all season.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
When does get up the New.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
York Knickerbockers taking on the San Antonio Spurs, But the
game itself is secondary because all eyes I.
Speaker 5 (00:44):
Will say this, The best take I heard out of
New York was one of the hosts saying that they
hope the Knicks lose so that they don't put up
that ridiculous banner at Madison Square. Am I right, maybe
the only man they had forty years they still don't
want it.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
You better go get that banner.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Well, if that banner's gonna stay down, it's gonna because
Victor Wembanyama will have led his team to a victory
and the buzz for Wemby's been big all season coming
into the season. Start of the season, he got hurt
a little bit there, but then he came back with
the vengeance over the weekend, took down the Oklahoma City
Thunder and a game to get that. The Spurs won
by two points. Wenby came off the bench again because
(01:24):
he was coming off injury, only played twenty one minutes
and was a plus twenty one during that span, which
is lady. A lot of people to suggest that if
and when they win this game tonight, they win the
NBA Cup, it's gonna springboard them the rest of the way,
maybe even into NBA Championship. Contention, Guys, Number one, is
(01:48):
that true?
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Number two?
Speaker 3 (01:50):
No, If it is true, what's to stop the San
Antonio Spurs from pushing all their chips in the middle
of the table and going all in with Wemby right now?
Speaker 5 (02:00):
Yeah, I want more time. I'm not doing that. We
just saw and I'm not saying that. We just saw
the Colts do the same exact thing that they They
pushed all the chips in the middle because they thought
they had something with Daniel Jones.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
They gave up the.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
Two first round pigs for sauce gardener who's turned into
apple sauce gardener. Uh, and now they're losing and they
might not even make the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Like that's don't disrespect old man. I'm just saying that's
how bad it is.
Speaker 5 (02:26):
And I'm just saying on the winby case, I once
want to see I want to see this team.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Together a little bit more. I wanted to jail.
Speaker 5 (02:32):
I don't want you to go out and run and
go like, oh yeah, uh, let's go get Yannis and
we're gonna win the title and this and that. I
don't think we're there yet enough to throw all the
chips in the middle of the table. You got a
great starting piece, right, a great piece, and you got
these other young players around them. They're playing well and
(02:53):
you know, things to look forward to. But I'm not there.
I just wouldn't do it, not too soon.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
I'm all in.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
And I'll give you a couple of reasons why if
Wimby is the generational talent I believe him to be,
and obviously others do as well. Rob You look at
history and there are examples, there are north stars of
what happens when you get a generational talent, and not
every time, but often it can happen. So you look
at some other great guys like Kareem Abdul Jabbar. He
won in his second year in the league. Tim Duncan
(03:23):
won in his second year. You had Magic win his
first year. Bird won in his second or third.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
Bit you're leaving off some pieces, so hear me out,
hold on and then you can even go.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
You can even go right, you can go. Shaq went
in his second or third year, because Lebron went his
fourth year. Other guys early shack second or third. Do
you know I was ninety he went in ninety five.
He was seventy two nights till third win in his
third year. And my point is when you're in a
good situation like he is in the Spurs, very well run, draft,
(03:55):
well organized, they developed well. You got freaking Castle is
amazing and he's only twenty. He's twenty years old. They've
got Harper junior, They've got a good veteran and d
Aaron Fox. They got some other ancillary pieces as well,
and Rob this season aside from the thunder which I
believe are gonna win with standing in massive injury. They're
(04:16):
like SGA late in the season they should win. But
that's the really only shoe wing. We kind of look
at it and go, that is the you know, the
team that should do it. So if you're the Spurs,
who can compete, who went be's a game changer? Who
wins affects things on both ends of the of the court.
I'm not saying you're absolutely gonna win it. What I'm
saying is you go for it. And here's another part
and you've said this too with Wimby his real op
(04:40):
as the kids say, his real potential rival. Obviously I
would love for to be the thundery thunder We have
that for five, seven, eight years, but really his father
time and or injuries, meaning how long will he be
able to play? Is he gonna break the curse of
big ginormous men or is he gonna fall in line
like them and be good but often injured to bonus
y'aoming and some other guys who have had bad feet
and bad knees by being big. So you are playing
(05:03):
against that that he's already had blood clots and he's
already been injured. So I might not get a fifteen
twenty year run. He might not give me a Chris
paul A lebron A KD. I might only get twelve,
like a magic or a bird. I just say, way
five years to make a move.
Speaker 5 (05:18):
But I need to see more of this with what
they have before I'm giving up for Yannas or giving
up players, you know, for a guy who might disrupt
what you have going on.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
And that might be it because Giannis is going.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
To get a certain degree of attention right that he
should get because of his history and his accolades and
the stuff that he's won. So I don't know if
I really want to disrupt that with a guy like Wemby.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
No, I don't.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
I don't know that. Let me rephrase.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
When I say all in, I'm saying I'm all in
for this season. Not necessarily I'm all in for Giannis.
I'm saying I'm not what we're really talking about. I
know who else would you be all in? I'm saying
I don't know that they necessarily need No, we're talking
about the whole pre was about going to add and
getting somebody to.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
Be said to say, I don't understand to say you're
all in, obviously you're trying to win.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
That mean I'll tell you what I mean.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
What I mean is I'm looking at him and I'm
not saying we're gonna slow roll this thing. We'll play
him here and the next season. Well, I'm saying, if
Wenby is good to go, you go, because this season
could be potential. Cop I'm not I don't if you
have a whole.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
This was about adding saying you're all in the way
the way did the coach went out.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
That's why I brought that up.
Speaker 5 (06:33):
The way that they went out and gave up two
first round picks because they looked at the AFC and
thought it was open and that they had a chance,
so they went in.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
That's what cashing in is.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
That would be like them going to Milwaukee giving up
some of the young pieces and saying, I got Wemby
and Giannis and that's what we're gonna win the championship.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
The core of the guys, the castle. Obviously you got
Harper Junior, you obviously got Wemby. Clearly I'm not giving
up that core because the core is locked in for years.
But what I'm saying is if there's a if there's
a nice veteran type piece on us that you feel
that this is it, then you go for because to me,
I look at as this you gotta give to again, right,
(07:10):
And I got some pieces, I got some picks. But
this season is open. Aside from the thunder, there are
good teams. They'll get to it. The Rockets are good,
and the Nuggets are good, and the Knicks in the pistons.
But I mean there's no there's no walking Kde with
Steph going on. There's no you know, eight Celtics or
shaking Kobe Lakers. So to me, with the way Winby competes,
with the way he wants to play, with the way
(07:32):
that even in his fourth his playing in fourth quarter
in fifteen and only X amount of minutes, I'm looking
at this season as we can strike, even though we're
very young, we can strike this season.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Scene if you are a Washington Commander's fan or bit
here you look at it. Jayden Daniels has officially been
shut down for the rest of the season. He's been
injured several times. He's only played seven games this season.
Most recently, he came back from dislocating at elbow, reaggravating
the injury on interception trying to make a tackle, try
to be a hero, And when the reporters asked him
(08:46):
about getting shut down, he didn't seem too happy about it.
Speaker 7 (08:50):
Take a listen, super tough man. I don't want to
miss games at all. I have been frustrated whose season
missing games. You long to be out there on my
teammates as much as possible. So this has been a
frustrating year, this one year. But how you learned from four?
Speaker 4 (09:08):
I don't understand it. I gotta admit and I know
you're on that, Well, you don't know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (09:14):
I do know what you're on because you know you
said it a few times.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
You're not playing for anything.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
Just wait till next year, and you don't want to
put him out there in the meanless game.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
We want them get hurt.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
No, no, no, you can't prevent people from getting hurt, So
your play makes no sense if they don't play him
this year. If he's healthy and we'll wait till game one,
he could get hurt in game one, he could get
hurt in game two. You can get hurt at any point.
You cannot prevent injuries. So when you're healthy, you should
(09:50):
be playing. Jane Daniels, how does he rob G twenty three?
Speaker 4 (09:56):
Maybe a little?
Speaker 1 (09:57):
He played about four five six years of college twenty four,
but yeah, but anyway, young, he's young.
Speaker 5 (10:02):
I'm know exact age, but you get my point. If
you're twenty four, you're young. If you're healthy, you should
be playing. How do you get better by playing? By
getting reps in game action? You can't put bubble wrap
around him and say we're gonna hold out and hold on.
(10:23):
Michael Parson's played, guess what he got heard Patrick Mahomes
has been playing for eight plus years.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
You know what happened.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
He got heard. It happens. Tom Brady got heard. Aaron
Rodgers broke two collar balls.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
He got heard.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
There's no way you can prevent it. At the look
of Philip Rivers, he's been heard.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
I mean, I'm just saying the way he moves around,
you get my point.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
So if somebody is healthy, not rushing somebody's back who's
not healthy, I'm against that. I was against Kevin Durant
trying to play in the NBA Finals when everybody knew
he wasn't healthy.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
You know what I mean? Like that, I'm again.
Speaker 5 (10:59):
After Charles Barkley called him street close.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Remember the next game he came out and played for
five minutes and he could barely move in the core. That.
You don't get anything there from me.
Speaker 5 (11:12):
As far as trying to suit up, you hurt, actually
hurt your team because you can't play. But if Jade
Daniels is healthy, he should be out there playing. And
Ip plawed him for saying he's disappointed. He's a young guy,
he wants to play and he should play if he's healthy.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
I applaud him for saying how he feels come have
a seat with me, player, Come sit on down. First
of all, he was already nursing leg injuries throughout the
early portion of the season. Right finally gets back out there,
falls down and we all think his arm is like shattered.
It was one of the worst injuries I've ever seen
that ended up noting. It wasn't that spear right I'm saying,
but the look of it. But it ended up not
(11:50):
being bad. He avoided tearing any ligaments. Then the next
week or so he aggravates it and it is non
throwing armed. He's been banged up too much this season.
And I understand. I applaud him wanting to play. I
applaud him not trying to take an easy way out.
I totally get that respect that, and I believe his
teammates do too, and I think they like that he
(12:11):
wants to have that warrior mentality, that wanted football player mentality.
The difference for me, Rob is I look at him
as this is our guy for the next twelve fifteen
years hopefully, but at.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Least, you know decade.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
This guy came in there was twelve and five last season,
get all the way to the NFC championship game. He
throws the most four thousand yards, twenty five touchdowns and
almost rushes four thousand yards. Very very talented, very special.
This season, he's banged up. Other guys banged up, they
got holdouts earlier this season, they couldn't find their way.
And now when he plays the two and five, when
(12:43):
he doesn't play the two and five, and now they
find himselves in this position of four and ten.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
You want to show him a gladiator. I'm paid to
play football. I want to play the game. But I
have to operate as a business. Right, This is a business.
This is a long term thing. And anybody knows anything
about investments. We ain't day trade.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
But but but no, no, I just I just want
you want to I want one thing. I want to
introduce one point. Him not playing this year, does that
mean he won't get hurt next year?
Speaker 4 (13:09):
That's it? Yes or no?
Speaker 1 (13:10):
Okay, But that has nothing to do with it, because
that's contemples the apple. If he got hurt, I wrote
what you said he could get hurt game one or two. Well,
we were oh and oh when we started. Still we're
competing for something. When he gets hurt, you're not repeating
for any point. Is No, we go into the season.
He's playing because it's we're O and O and your
(13:32):
game one reference, we're maybe one to oh in your
game two reference, meaning we're going for something. This season
is over your four intend he's banged up, he's bruised up.
I know he wants to play, because it's the whole
Are you healthy or you're hurt. I understand that. It's
the reason why you wear a red jersey in practice.
You mean more to us. You didn't want went out
then balled out. Hey, what did he say the other day?
(13:54):
The boy looked miserable. No, but you I ain't happy.
I'm going to do what. He played great first game back,
he played great.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
No, it's not that he doesn't have the talent. I'm
not questioning Joe.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
That's that's a I want his occupation because he's a teller,
and when he's and we're rolling, we might have something.
So Jade and Daniels is too young, too valuable to us.
We didn't win this season doesn't make.
Speaker 5 (14:16):
It, doesn't make that hurt doesn't make sense because he
could still get hurt.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
I don't. I just thought him, you and I can
walk out of here. That what I'm saying is you do.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
Him not playing at the end of the year stumped
his uh, his growth as a quarterback because he's not
getting reps in game action. And it does not change
whether or not he's gonna get hurt or not.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
It does not change it. I am today. Somebody can
get hurt. That's irrelevant. That's not the worth the risk.
You getting hurt when we're competing for something is worth
the risk.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
But he's still getting hurt. It doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
You can't stop him from getting hurt if by not
playing this show.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
The point is we're competing for something. So if you
get hurt, you're right, I can. That's just part of life.
But the idea of you getting hurt, you get it there.
Speaker 5 (15:01):
If they were seven and six and at a one
percent chance to still get in the playoffs, you're cool
with it.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Yeah, if he's as long as he's healthy, he can't.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
Meet They can't really sixty they got a chance at
seven and six.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
They run in that Super Bowl run it. Have you
heard it? Your guy Eli Manning? He did it twice.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
People, All people have gotten in there, not back when
it was only sixteen games. At nine and seven and
won Super Bowls.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
We in it. We competing because once you get in
the tournament, you never know. My only point is it
doesn't matter.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
That's just some nonsense that people have made up. Guys
are players. It's the same people. You were the same guy,
and I'm gonna say you were doing the show then.
Who didn't want Zion to play? Okay, so they didn't
want Zion to play. He's an eighteen year old college kid,
nineteen years old because the sneaker blew out, don't play
you already first he played.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
Okay, they didn't win the national championship, but they he played.
No point.
Speaker 5 (15:54):
They still got hurt down the road. He's got hurt
before he was in college.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
He gets hurt. But that's my point. Way, because he
was still competing at Duke for something. Most people didn't
want him to play at all because he was. They
didn't want to because the number one pick that is
not that's not nearly the same conversation. He played because
he still had a chance to win the national championship.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
That's my point. You play.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
He was already quarterback who's banged up arms twist, he
was already the number.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
One pick what did play.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
I'm saying, if I were sitting here doing the cup
with you, I would have said, played for you, only
gonna be here for one year.
Speaker 5 (16:31):
Had an off year, and not just by the injuries.
He won the same quarterback. He needs repped, he needs
to get better.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Hart get quarterback is because he was trying to play
through injuries and banged up.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
It's called the NFL. People are hurt all the time.
Speaker 5 (16:48):
Aaron Rodgers has a busted left wrist.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
He's playing. But my point is, you m why he
didn't playing Well, that's what I'm referring to. Why that's
why he may not have been at his best. What
I'm saying is I just.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
Think it's year two and they and they have film
on him.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Well he's not He's not playing horrible. He's got eight touchdowns,
three interceptions. When he's out there, they were on his head.
That offensive line ain't doing that. So he hasn't played
bad u and I think he's gonna be playing that well, Well,
it's just been an off week. He's out three four
weeks and he's back. And my whole point is, have
a seat, bro, you're twenty four. We want you to
play till thirty four. We want to get other good
runs at him.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
The end of the year does not mean he's gonna
play till thirty four because hurt.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
That's my goal that it's called long term investments, but
it doesn't invest it.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
But it doesn't mean anything. He could get hurt on
any absitution investment.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
But but I'm being resourcing intment.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
I just don't get that. I don't.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Actually, I genuinely dont understand how you don't get that.
I don't He could week one next season.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
Off and holding him out.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
You're holding him out the rest of this year will
not guarantee he's gonna be healthy next year.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
That's nothing to do with this season. What if he
tears an ACL on a meaningless game when we're four
and ten.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
They need to learn and get more reps in game action.
It's not meaningless. It's to why everybody else plays. That's
why people are playing. He ain't everybody. Everybody? About sixteen
guys who ain't everybody?
Speaker 5 (18:19):
The only people who sit out, even of Patrick Mahomes.
It'll be the last game of the year where they
might not play. Leading up to the playoffs. They were
eleven to o last year.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
Right.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
At one point, they could have easy said Pat, Hey,
we already playoffs were gonna be. You don't need to
play no more because we don't want you to get hurt.
You don't play like that, because that's a completely different thing.
He's staying in the groove. He's staying in the rhythm
to compete for a championship. All I'm saying is if
he's beat up and he's bruised up this year, it
makes no sense for me to roll him out there.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
He's already frail, he needs to put some more meat
on his bones. And why he's already nicked up and
banged up.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
I get it. You're tough. You want to compete. That's
what you do.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
It's when you do a whole life. It's a long
term investment. We love you, we believe in you.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Have a seat.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
We'll figure some things out, we'll get healthy, we'll get
hold and we'll get better and we'll come right back
to it next season.
Speaker 2 (19:05):

Speaker 4 (19:17):
Rob G do we have any odd mob stuff anything
going on off there we're talking about on the YouTube.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Rob, you mean there's a lot of talk about the
NBA Cup because the NBA Cup is a joke according
to Big Daddy says, Uh, here's another one, Rob, just
hating on Stafford. We haven't even talked about Matt a minute.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
They've been wanting to tell you that they've been holding
on to that. I mean, he ain't wrong, but also
he been holding on to that.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
And then here's another one. Adam Castro says, how to
get off the iHeart app to chime in and Rob's
argument makes literally no sense whatsoever, trashing this garbage. Take
this Tuesday from Rob all in good fun, of course.
Speaker 4 (19:51):
Must be talking about the Jaydon Daniels one.
Speaker 5 (19:53):
Yeah, he said, all in good fun, right, because you
don't want to get blocked.
Speaker 4 (19:58):
Wait, he can't send your ta blocked on YouTube?
Speaker 3 (20:00):
How you getting blocked on YouTube?
Speaker 5 (20:02):
It's my it's my Twitter, and I'll block it by
walk to block it, by wall to block it, by
wall to.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
You would block to if they tried to.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
Dish you.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
That Big Daddy.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
And then my my favorite one was if I go
back earlier in the chat when we mentioned on air,
which is true. It's not SAMs whatsoever. That Rob only
likes black people and Jewish people. Yeah, what they say,
and they mentioned yes Ben Maller is Jewish too.
Speaker 8 (20:31):
What?
Speaker 3 (20:32):
And it's another one says he likes except Doug Gottlieb.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
There's always an exception, always an exception to everybody's got one.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
No, everybody's practicing, practicing dog that what? It is a
good point to. I love all people. Now you've known
me for all these years, Alex.
Speaker 5 (20:50):
