Best of The Odd Couple

The guys open by reacting to Sam Darnold’s performance in the Seahawks’ overtime thriller against the Rams and debate whether the quarterback can truly be trusted. They then turn their attention to Texas QB Arch Manning’s decision to stay in college and discuss whether it was the right move for the young quarterback. Finally, they debate whether the Rams and QB Matthew Stafford choked—or if the Seahawks simply won the game!

(04:59):

didn't say this man. I worked with Mary.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
In fact, no, it's Mary Matt. I saw her hand
him the coffee.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
That's insane.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
It is thanks Mary.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
I will remember that.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
We will Mary.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
He didn't even want a coffee. And we do want

Speaker 1 (05:25):
You from Michigan, you're out of Michigan. You might have
more time in Michigan than any other place in your life. Yeah,
so I spent twenty years.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
But you're a hater, so I would even give you
coffee energize the hate.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Listen, he has a home at a barbers he's still
he was there for twenty years. You are from Michigan.
At this point, you really are all right? Can we
got to own it? Can we say this?

Speaker 4 (05:50):
Let's wish Doug Gottlieb the best of luck in his
coaching career. And today they had the final show on
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
No I'm not I'm just and it was very emotional.
I heard it.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
Was it really?

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Yeah? It was Zam, I was Sam was it?

Speaker 4 (06:04):
It was emotional and Doug was in studio here and
they did it live and I watched a little bit
of it. It was emotional. It was crazy because so many
guys in our business man. There was a couple other
people I saw sign off today, So it was real tough.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
But all right, let's welcome in the odd couple crew
because you.

Speaker 4 (06:20):

group never heard of?

Speaker 1 (07:00):
And on the ones and twos, why your bugs saying huh,
thank you for the coffee?

Speaker 3 (07:06):
All right?

Speaker 5 (07:07):
Can we get here?

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Can we get here? Let's get get here. We had
one of the greatest football games of the year. That
was a good game, It really was. It was a
fun game. It's not often you see a team down
by sixteen points in the fourth quarter and win. You
know why, because it never happened. It had never happened.

Speaker 5 (07:26):
You're talking about.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Unbelievable down sixteen points. The other team had no turnovers.
I'm talking about the rams. They had over five hundred
yards in offense, right over over five hundred. No team
had ever lost a game where they had no turnovers.
They had over five hundred yards. They were led by
sixteen in the fourth quarter, in the fourth quarter and

(07:48):
wind up losing. And I know all of the people
decided this is the day that they were going to
sing the praises of Sam Darnold. But I'm not one
of them. Sam DONALDA. I know they won the game,
but I'm gonna tell you, I'm gonna give it to

(08:08):
you real. Okay, Sam Donald got balled, bailed out, and
got a reprieve from the Rams.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
That's what that was.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
Yeah. The writers, the sports writers in the press box
had to change the stories that they had written after
three quarters about how he can't win a big game
and the Rams choke, and in the process they let
Sam Donald off the hook.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
And I'm talking about.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
For right now cause it still follows him and the
reason it still follows him. And I heard Colin recite
a stat earlier and other people were.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Talking about it as well.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
First quarterback to win twelve games with two different teams,
all right, that's not a badge of honor.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
It's an indictment of Sam Donald.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Because most guys who win twelve games, they ain't going
to another team the next year, not just fact. Would
you agree with that most of the time? Okay, you're
not going nowhere else? So twelve wins is great.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
I'm shocked by that, though I thought Joe Montana, like
with Kansas City, it wasn't twelve.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Yeah, okay, I was shocked to you that did that.
But unless, of course you're Sam Donald. And that's why
the Minnesota Vikings didn't buy into him before this game.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
I told you I didn't buy him.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
The Sam Donald who went the bed last year and
the two biggest games of the year won for the
division right against the Lions, and then of course in
the playoff game against the Rams, and he did exactly
the same thing. Did you watch the first three quarters?
He was atrocious, he was awful, and all of a

(09:45):
sudden down by sixteen. It was the punk return that
changed that game. You know that when you could score
on the special teams and not have a long drive
and eat up klock and that turned the game around.
It wasn't Sam darnl And then the big controversial which
really wasn't controversial when you watch the replay of it,
the two point conversion. That was one of the luckiest

(10:08):
plays in the history of sports that you'll ever see
because it bailed Sam Donald out and he's lucky.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
I don't know who was the dB for the Rams.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
What the ball went right through like hit him in
the chest and went through and bounced and of course
they were lucky that the ball was picked up. What's
a guy's name Charbonneau right, who picked up the ball,
who just arbitr like really just picked it up to
pick it up, and he's in the end zone, so

(10:38):
they get the two point conversion.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
The original pass was awful.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
That should have been the game, and he could have
lost right there, and people would be talking about Sam
Donald right now. Sam Donald is not off the hook
with yours truly, and there'll be another game. And last night,
early on, those three quarters proved to me why the
Vikings parted with him and why people were talking about
Sam Donald up until that game turned around. And they

(11:06):
gotta win, and I get it. Winning is the greatest
makeup ever. It covers up everything, and I get it.
He threw a couple touchdowns, he was able to get
those two point conversions, even though one was super lucky,
and they won the game. And nobody in Seattle's going
to be mad today and people are gonna look the
other way. But Sam Donald did not change my mind

(11:28):
about him. In Big Game, Elijah put.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
The GM on me.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
I'm so mad at you right now. Rob, you know
why I'm mad at you.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
I'm mad at you because say the best part about
this is, say you were here yesterday Elijah, you were
here yesterday, so you heard my partner in crime, Rob Parker,
sit two feet away from me and tell me, you
know what, if he plays well and if he wins
this big game, and if he can get a big
game on a primetime moment, I'll give him some credit.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
And you know what he did.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
He beat the MVP in a game where he was
on the first half. And you know what you said
to me a week ago. I came in here and
I was like, Josh Allen, I don't know, he's obviously great,
but that first half he was down twenty one nothing pictures.

Speaker 5 (12:10):
And you said, and that's what made it great.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
He came back for twenty one down and had a
great second half. Sam Darnold had a great second, third quarter,
second he did not win half of the third quarter
and all over down in the fourth quarter sixty point.
I just thrown an interception going to the fourth and
that's why it was great with the difference.

Speaker 5 (12:29):
HEAs down and came back. You don't have a no,
don't want to hear Josh.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
I'll let you Josh Colland doesn't have a narrative that
he went big game.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
He was in the postseason he does. Now, I don't
want to hear it. Rob, I'll let you go, Dag.
You said you're gonna come on here. If he got
a big win, if he made big plays, if he
beat the potential MVP of Matthew Stafford, and that's what
he did. He made great throws that fourth quarter. He
won that games. He had to go out there and
win it. He won that game, yes, because not only
did he have to score the touchdown, he had to

(12:58):
didn't get the two point converge.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
You see that that was batted down. That was the
two point conversion. Now that was the earlier one.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
I'm talking about him after the one A show and
right on our TV right now.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
But you needed that would have won at the end
of mind, and you need a break every now and again.
Sam Donald did what he was supposed to do. That
fourth quarter didn't look great, and that's what made it
great because Sam Donald, historically, I would agree with you
it would have been three four more interceptions. He'd have
had a bad game like Jared Goff had in the
postseason last year. Sam Donald would have a frazzle and

(13:27):
everybody would have known it. Sover the Gunslinger, Matt Stafford
throwing for four hundred yards. He can't do anything against
the Rams. He already had sixth total between last game
and this one last night, six intersections against the Rams.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
You know what he did.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
He buckled up, buckled down, locked in and made game
winning throws, not lucky throws, game winning throws, and let
his team down and is now potentially can win a
division Mike mess Around and has the Rams in a
really awkward situation now because of how good the forty
nine ers are and potentially beat the MVP and Mike
Best Around a win the whole entire conference.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
That was the performance that he needed.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
That was something he can build off of, and he
is not Joe montanis not to return to John l Way.
But you have to get some of those under your belt.
You have to crawl before your walk, and he was
able to do that. Listen, Sam Darnod for four or
five years, was in bad situations.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
One playing good with the Panthers. With the Jets, things
weren't good.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Goes through a good Viking situation, and Thrive didn't play
great on a couple of games, not not a couple
of games in the biggest game, in the biggest games,
of the year. He came through and he and he
got them to fourteen three in the postseason. He fell short.
But what I'm saying is he didn't play. If he didn't,
he didn't. But if he does that they don't want
him to cast him off. Would have been great to
have him this year, goes to Seahawks and is playing

(14:42):
well and now have them mess around with winning the Vision.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
You gotta put some respect week before, not.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Respect respect on his name, like Birdman told you.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
That was a good win, a great win for him,
confidence builder, and they gotta feel really great because they
had no reason to win that game, and so he
buckled down and made some insane throws.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, You want to
hear from you? Eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. You with Calvin? You you bought in?
Sam Donald has a race to pass with that game?
Or did you see the nightmare that everybody else saw
for the first three quarters and the guy lucked into
a big win and then on that it was just

(15:24):
pushed it aside for right now until next week? Six

Speaker 5 (17:07):
From the Ganggang, the New York Ten.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
Yeah, from eleven of us, the ten, Yes, yes, okay
said y'all had your own football team.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
We had a whole eleven of us. Shout out to him.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Hey, you and I talked a little bit about this,
but you think you were on your baseball tour of
America something. That's how you when we kind of touched
on a little bit more. But just hold the whole
arch Manning. And this was early on. Everybody was basically,
he's gonna be the Heisman winner, they're gonna win the
national championship, and Shay, he's gonna be the number one pick.

(17:41):
And that's what everybody was saying before they even really started.
I'm like, y'all know he didn't even start last year, right,
Like he was coming off the bench. Obviously, the season
didn't go exactly how he or Sarkesian or Texas wanted
it to. Shay Uh, they kind of underachieved for this
first half of the season.

Speaker 5 (17:58):
They definitely have so yeah, sorts are coming out actually
this morning, new reports have come out that our Twaning
is actually going to take a pay cut to return
to Texas instead of going to the NFL Draft. The
kid is going on to play another year. After last
season throwing for twenty nine hundred and forty two yards,
twenty four touchdowns, seven interceptions, and a QBR of seventy

(18:20):
point six didn't really rise to anyone's expectations. He did
have some good moments, you could say, but it was uneven.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Yeah it was.

Speaker 5 (18:30):
But I'll let you guys decide if this was the
right move for Manning to come back and play with Texas.
And again reports are coming out this morning that he's
actually taking a pay cut.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Now, well, turn well.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Look he can take a pay cut, rob because we
know money is not a thing.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Your grandfather played in the NFL both.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
You know he didn't make a lot of money, right,
but what he's made money by being who he has been.

Speaker 5 (18:51):
But I'm just dismissed. Yeah, he was in a different era.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
Your your uncles have made all the money and continue
to make all the money. And your dad, I'm sure
his done fine for himself, was a fine football played
before he broke his neck in high school. So the
money was never a thing for me. Meaning yes, if
we canna add to it, why not? Because one thing
we know, rich people love. You know about this, Rich
people love more money. That's some play with me. Rich
people love more money. But I was saying this while

(19:14):
you were touring all the baseball stadiums in America.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
I said, y'all, he's coming back.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
I don't care how successfully is all the stuff everybody's
hoping and projecting in preseason this and you know all
of that, you know, national pick for this. I said,
he's gonna come back because he doesn't have to force anything.
He wants to create a legacy. He wants to create.
You know, I got everything I wanted.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
I did.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
I did well, got a chance to win a national championship,
maybe win a Heisman. He wants to compete for all
of those things because again, he's not in a rush
or a hurry to get somewhere. He wants to leave where. Wow,
look what this man meant to Texas. Look at the numbers,
look at all the things he accumulated. Enjoy the college experience.
He ain't got a rush out of there. He can
enjoy it. And so I knew from the beginning that

(19:58):
I didn't expect him to leave unless he was absolutely crazy,
like fifty like of Joe Burrow his last year at LSU,
something where it was just absolutely insane.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
So I expected him to come back.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
What I didn't expect world was it to be so
rocky for him, you know, because he didn't even play
that great in some of their wins against slamall teams though,
teams that sound like law schools, So he didn't even
play well or had many games against them.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
So it is a lot to be desired.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Now, what's funny is Shay and Rob when you read
some reports and your favorite thing these some of these
anonymous execs have said, even if he came out this year,
if not the number one pick, he would probably be
the first quarterback pick because the raw talent is there,
that's what they say. But I say, people are gonna
want to steal see more for him, see him put
up build up consistency game after game after game. Can

(20:46):
he be the best player out there? Can he be
the dominant player as he's projected to be. I just
think so it makes sense that he's coming back, and
because again he ain't in no rush he does, he's
not in a need.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
If he would have played well, I think he would
have come out.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
And that's why I don't agree, do I think because
because Paul Farnbaum from ESPN, I'll never forget.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
Show you got that quote.

Speaker 5 (21:05):
I heard this quote quote he is the best college
football quarterback we have seen since Tim Tebow. He said
that early on.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Now he would like this is the kind of praise
that he was getting, and he didn't live up to
any of.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
That, because that's the name fifteen that had better years
than than what he did. But that's what I'm out
the way, Why you're doing that, I might write him down,
Go ahead, all right, What I'm just.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
Saying, like, that's that was the expectation. He didn't play
any He didn't play anywhere near that. So this makes
total sense to not one time a ring about art.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Exactly when Tim Tebow was t bowing, you know, Vince,
he was getting text means the.

Speaker 4 (21:39):
Only time I would get messages would be on Sunday
or something, you know, after he's kneeling down and doing
all that stuff.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
Who Tim Tebow, that's about praying for you right now,
He's not praying for me.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
But my point is that it just makes sense because
it just wasn't It was uneven.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
It didn't feel good, like like you're.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
Going in but you feel like, uh, you know, you're
Brownie James getting into the NBA as you know, like
like you, yeah, you're getting in and you got talent,
raw talent, but you didn't really show what you had
where people are like, man, where's the arch Manning Sweepstakes?

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Don't you remember tanking? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (22:25):
And there Tank for Tua, like that's where they got
a quarterback on their sites and they're like we want
that dude.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Oh yeah, and you didn't have that.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Despite all of the uh press clippings and all of
this hyperbole from people like Finebaum and other college people
who really are into college football and watch the sport
on that level, they were all raving about him, he
didn't play up to that. So I think that's you
don't want to go in under those pretenses. You go back,

(22:56):
have another year, play better right, shopping up your skills,
and then you go out after that. I don't you
don't have to stay three years, four years, two years,
You play right, two years, starting as a starter, is
what I'm saying, and then you're good to go.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
And here's the other thing.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
While we're all everybody's Oh, he's gonna be this, he's
gonna be that, dude, the guys that are playing right now,
the bow Nixes and the Jayden Daniels and all these guys,
and Caleb Williams and all these they're getting thirty forty
forty plus starts, Cal cam Ward. These guys are getting
starts at the start. You look at the guys who
are coming in and who are being high picks or
the guys that are having success. So the idea is

(23:34):
just coming in and he only started would have been
you know, thirteen games give or take this season and
a few maybe what whatever it was last year, if
I know he's coming off the bench mostly like, that's
not really how it's gone lately. These guys are coming
in with crazy starts because the transfer portals, extas seas,
extra seasons, COVID seasons, so they're coming.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
In very well.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
If he would have lit it up for Texas, you know,
I don't. I'm not still think you would have came back.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
I don't, just because again I think he would he
himself the perst.

Speaker 4 (24:03):
Lit it up and was the Heisman Trophy winner and
all that, like like the ex I don't.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
I don't only come back after you win a Heisman Trophy.
I think he would have had.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
I think he would have wanted to win a national
title because again, he's not in a rush. Even if
next season he comes back and he, god forbid, gets
really hurt, he's still going to be a top pick
because they already.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Know he is. Well, it depends on the injury, but
I get I get it.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
You know, we saw Willis McGahee shatter his leg on
national TV the National Championship game and come back still
be in the first round, first round pick, and that
was a running go why he was all right, just
solid career. Yeah, he wasn't a player that he was
in college. Yeah, but he had a good career though,
Like all things considered, what do.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
You know about him? Give me something from Willis McGahee.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
Anything he probably rushed for so you know, what I mean,
That's what I'm saying, Like six thousand yards.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Look this up, shamee, look it up. I'm just saying.

Speaker 4 (24:55):
I'm just saying, I get your point. He still was
drafted the next two uh thought he was.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
We've playing guys should have had like Brian Robinson, Junr
Like he got shot. Yeah you know Jaylen Smith, Yeah
you had a lot of I don't know why you said.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
Because we saw that on national is what I'm saying.
We saw he did a National championship game. We saw
his leg go the other way.

Speaker 5 (25:16):
Yeah, you're right, Actually that's yeah he did. Okay, I
got his stats right here. Yeah he did all right,
he did all right. He had two thousand and ninety
five total rushing yards.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Okay, I take that back. I was game spoted, he
said six thousand. Yeah, that's all he had. Dang, will
I take that back year and a.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
Half that that that is why I was saying to you,
I don't remember this great queer in the NFL had
a better Get hold on.

Speaker 5 (25:38):
Let me let me read look at that. Take some time, okay, Okay,
what he had eight thousands? Okay to say, I'm like years,
how many? How many years? Play ninety five rush attempts. Okay,
but he only had sixty five touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
How many years did you play? He played just cute
six seven.

Speaker 5 (25:58):
He paid a lot of years. He played for two thirteen.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Yeah, we had a nice career. Eight thousand y'all. You
know they put ten thousand as the benchmark for guys.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
I don't remember.

Speaker 5 (26:08):
I feel like sixty five touchdowns is not a lot
for that many years.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Though.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Think about it, though, if you played ten years, six
a year, if you want to cut it and go,
you know, sixth.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
Year, that's nice, sixteen year.

Speaker 5 (26:18):
Everybody ain't alt he had his first two years he
had one thousand year yard.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Yeah, that's coming off broken leg.

Speaker 5 (26:24):
That was the only two U and another one in
two thousand and seven.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Yeah, and then.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
In twenty eleven he said I'm not done and had
one thousand one was that gay year. Had a good career,
which was his best year.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
Actually, tell you he came back. It was bawling.

Speaker 5 (26:39):
Yeah you did come back, y'all.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Have hey, you don't ever do that again. Show you
had me shook it?

Speaker 5 (26:43):
Yeah, no, you're I was like, man, there's a reason
you're over there and I'm over here.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
I was like, wait a minute, I thought again, I
swear he was on my fantasy a couple of times.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
I don't remember. I don't remember him having that because
that was the thing was like, because remember the gamble?
I remember, what would you do? I remember?

Speaker 5 (26:57):
Do you remember?

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Do you remember what the gamble.

Speaker 5 (26:59):
Was for him?

Speaker 4 (27:00):
No?

Speaker 1 (27:01):
Because he was obviously elite Miami or him or Miami
however it works. But it was a million dollar insurance policy.
So basically, then policy is if you never go back
to playing football, you get a million dollars, that's a policy.
Or you take your shot and who knows, you might
crumble your leg the first play.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
What do you do?

Speaker 1 (27:20):
You take that million and say, hey, at least I
got a career, I got education in Miami. I got
a million dollars. I could start a life. Or you
take the gamble.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
But a million ain't that.

Speaker 5 (27:27):
You want a half million dollar insurance policy?

Speaker 3 (27:30):
That's what it was.

Speaker 5 (27:32):
Million dollar policy for the Hurricane sophomore stud It was
projected to be a top two.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
And a half. That's real money, Rob, No, I know
a million is not two after taxes, you know what
I mean? Like a million again, you ain't got to
pay the taxis okay? All right?

Speaker 4 (27:46):
Now you're down to seven hundred. You ain't got a
part eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox?

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Where are you on? Arch Manning?

Speaker 4 (27:54):
Did he make the right decision going back to Texas?

Speaker 3 (27:59):
Some say he could have still been a first round
pick this year.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
Some execs are saying that that he didn't have to
go back, that they saw enough. He's he's raw, but
he they they see the raw talent.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
Would you have gone back?

Speaker 4 (28:11):
Chance to dissect you even more, point out more of
your flaws, and a chance for you to get hurt.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
There's a lot of things that can happen.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
We saw Matt Lioner go back when he's supposed to
be the overall number one pick went back. When he
came back, guess what he was a tenth pick. Co
HadAM shook b He couldn't give her. He couldn't get
away from the Coeds. He was like, I'm coming back.

Speaker 3 (28:31):
But you know I'm coming back. I didn't understand.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
But what Okay, So you go to the NFL you
still can't get co Eds people. Dude, you go coinnit money.
You know what I'm saying. No, I don't, I don't
la did not have a football team.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
He was the man.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
Yes, but I'm just him Reggie. So he won the man.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
He go Houston or Tennessee is something?

Speaker 5 (28:54):
He went the man there. They were like, who is
this dude? I don't know this dude?

Speaker 3 (28:58):
All right? Eight seven seven ninety nine, Hey, Holly, what
that's why you here? Eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine? Where are you? An arch manny
mistake or the right move? We want to hear from you.

Speaker 4 (29:09):

Maybe I should pay attention my go again right including

right now. Yes, I think I'm gonna have my daughters

(31:44):
do it this time. You might as welcome. Make sure
you text them or face or something. Also last call.
So we got a lot of stuff to get to
in this game, and we've talked about the big game.
It was a tremendous game, a tremendous ending. Obviously, when
the team comes back from sixteen points down in the
fourth quarter, and there's some there's a punt return, and

(32:06):
there's a two point conversions galore, and there's a weird
one where there's like a fumble, right, a fumble.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
That winds up in the end zone and one of.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
The players just just picks it up as if to
take it or give it to the official, and he's
in the end zone and it counts, and.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
I'll give you.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
I'll give this the referee who was on the broadcast
on Amazon Prime, he said it was immediately.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
He didn't even flinch when he saw that. He said,
that's recovered in the end zone. Like it wasn't for him.
He saw he said, this is a backwards pass, right,
we're looking at it from the overview camera. Backwards pass,
so that makes it a live ball, right. And the
ball there was a defender number eight for the Rams.

(32:53):
I can't ride it. I don't remember the name. Like
he goes for the ball, hits him right here, slides
out and ends up in the.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
End and everybody thinks it's done. Playover you listen it
was crazy flukey playing without a doubt.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
But we had Adam Kaplan our NFL insider.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
We had Sean King, former NFL quarterback in one of
our insiders as well. Everybody commenting on this game. It
was really the game of the year with so much
on the line over time. It ends on a two
point conversion. The Seahawks didn't just kick an extra point
to say no, no, no, we can't afford to lose this game.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
They went for it. I give him credit for that.

Speaker 5 (33:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
I was like, oh, you hard to get back. You
think you want to take the easy way out of it.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
They were like, Nope, not. And you know what, it's
probably the right thing. Because the Rams had over five
hundred yards of offense. It wasn't like you were stopping
them until the fourth quarter, which is when you stopped
them four punts and a miss field goal. But anyway,
the conversation, and we want to get you involved, don't
forget eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox is was

(33:55):
this game when you look at it, did the Rams choke.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Or did the Seahawks win this game?

Speaker 4 (34:06):
And I'm going to go first, and I'm gonna say
that the Rams choke okay, because to me, you can't
have a sixteen point lead in the fourth quarter, got
over five hundred yards in offense, no turnovers, zero turnovers,
and the other team has three turnovers. Yeah, you give

(34:29):
up a special team's touchdown killer. You know that whenever
there's a special chance of you winning, should be a
stat on that. Think about the Super Bowl are something.
When they got that onside kick. Special teams things ramp.
It just changes everything because you're getting a touchdown without
having to put in the work of a drive, and
you know, getting the third downs, you know what I mean,

(34:50):
and all those kind of things that go in at
take up time and energy.

Speaker 3 (34:53):
It just really flips the script.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
And then you know Stafford had these big numbers, right,
but no big numbers in the time when it mattered,
and that was the fourth quarter to Iceter game. He
had four punts and one missfield goal. Of course the
field goal had nothing to do with him, but the
four punts. Three of those possessions, Okay, Now, this guy
who threw for over four fifty okay, four hundred and

(35:18):
fifty yard crazy, three of those possessions were three and out, three.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Three and out.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
You can't tell me if they got one drive going
eat up clock, you know what I mean, and.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Get a field goal or whatever it was. They couldn't
do it.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
Okay, he threw a touchdown and over time he got
that to pook up. But my point is that was
the ultimate choke job. In fact, the stat that I
saw was no team in NFL history, did you hear me? No,
No team zero never been done before, had over five

(36:00):
hundred yards offense, had no turnovers and won that battle,
had a sixteen point lead in the fourth quarter, and
have ever lost the game until last night. That was
a major choke job in the all time, especially given

(36:24):
what was at stake, both eleven and three, both with
a chance.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
It's a big different road.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
It don't mean that the Rams couldn't win if they
had to, but it's a hot way harder road than
being a top team in the NFC having a buy
home games.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
Now you got to go on the road.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
Last year they lost in Philadelphia on their way right
that weather. You could avoid it if you got the crib.
If you at the crib and you wound up playing.
So to me, that was a choke job. I can't
give Seattle more credit. Obviously, they made plays and they
did stuff to win the game. But if I have
to side with one, I gotta go with the rams choking.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Well, you know, I don't agree, and I hear some
of the things you were saying. I understand, but that's
what makes some of these things great. Has been used
you have the first you and I debated on the
whole It was the pacers nicks.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
You know, is it a choker? Where do they win it?
I guess my thing. A couple of must have been
a choke because TIBs got fired. But I'm that's another story.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
Mister TIBs.

Speaker 1 (37:21):
They called me mister Tibbs. So here it is why
I disagree with you, my man Rob Parker.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Check it out.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
If this were two or three picks sixes by Matthew
Stafford in the fourth quarter, some flukey off a helmet
and then now, okay, I get you. It was a
complete game that turned it around for the Seahawks, which
is why to me, it was they had to go
out and get it. Your special teams had to return
a punt. So now your special teams are taking care

(37:50):
of their job, returning points, getting points on the board,
helping you, of course, not using up the clock because
you get to score fast. Your defense had to hold
the arguable MVP two three and outs and a miss
field goal. Our defense had to step it up. Who's
been number one in the rush? Number two and pass?
Finally look up and realize, yo, this is who we are,
and you lock this team down. Who had been moving

(38:13):
the ball up and down in a greater part of
a quarter and a half two quarters the Rams and
then your offense. Sam Darnald aka Sam McDonald acurding to
you finally said, let me do what I don't normally
do normally. I choke in this moment. Normally I freeze up.
Normally I get frantic and start throwing more than two.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
Point conversion that luckily bounces on.

Speaker 1 (38:35):
The two point conversion that I remember, he threw it
right there smack to one of his tight ends to
win the game. He threw two touchdowns, got two two
point conversions, and the offense was able to put up
thirty eight points on a RAMS team that we say
is the most complete and in one of the better
defenses in the league. So all three facets came alive.

(38:56):
I would completely agree with you if it were two them.
Pumper turns and a and a you know, a pick
six or crazy weird fumble, fluky thing. The offense had
a score a bunch of points in a short amount
of time, the special teams that have returned a punt,
and the defense had to lock up Matthew Stafford and
that offense that was humming, pooking the coup a couple

(39:16):
hundred yards receiving.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
Yeah, but that's so to me.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
That's why they came together, locked in in the fourth
quarter and were able to go and take a game
that they needed against a team. Now they the Rams
are in a weird position. Rob they can mess around,
and if they mess around and lose the next two games,
and if the forty nine ers win all and the
seaff they could not be in the postseason. But there's
a chance of that. That's no, I can't say now.

(39:40):
But but my point is you were you were running them.
You were running the yard, okay with with Stafford and
the four hundred yard all that other stuff, and three three.

Speaker 4 (39:52):
And outs come up, three three and outs. I get
their defense is good, Don't get me wrong. I'm acknowledging
that that's where you're it's winning time. We need a drive.
I need to make a play. There's no way that
you're you're running the game in total. Look at the numbers,
look at the look at the time of possession. For

(40:12):
the Rams had the ball forty four minutes. They forty
four minutes that game.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
Okay, you know that.

Speaker 4 (40:20):
Forty four minutes. And then in the fourth quarter you
got four punts and so you're getting the ball back.
They're giving you the ball back, right, But for you
to have four punts at a missfield goal not that
that to me is a choke job, one of the
all time choke jobs.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
And if they get knocked down the playoffs beausey have to.

Speaker 4 (40:42):
Go on the road or somehow don't make it, it
will go down as one of the biggest chokes. And
that's why they were all hot, including McVeigh. He knows
the significance of that.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
It was different. It's different if you had were to
shootout and they beat you. They're a good team. You
can live with that. Not to be up by sixteen
in the fourth with like eight minutes left.

Speaker 1 (41:01):
And that's again why I give the Seahawks to edge,
because they had to do it in all three facets.
It wasn't just some random flukey turnovers from Stafford or
some running back fumble twice and some crazy Derek Henry
fumble he had a couple of times a season.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
You know this wasn't that.

Speaker 1 (41:16):
This was special teams doing it, defense, locking up on
the on the Rams offense, going to do it, and
again you exercising the demon Sam Darnold.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
Gotta give him credit.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
The dude looked bad that first two and a half quarters,
and you're like, here we go again.

Speaker 4 (41:30):
He can't do anything against the Rams, just so he
can't the first half. Seriously, did you go like first half?

Speaker 3 (41:36):
Seeing Sam?

Speaker 1 (41:36):
I told my children leave me alone. I said why,
I said, because I got to hear Rob tomorrow. You
already know it. And then I'm making them dinner. I'm
grilling grill. You know, kids, I got one. I'm grilling
the grill cheese. I just brought home some Mediterranean food.
I'm making the plays. I'm doing all this. Got the
little spectrum map going so I can are Amazon Prime
so I can watch it, and I'm dog sunlight boy,

(41:57):
you would have thought you would have thought I went
to USC and I was a Sam donld fan.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
Away. I was so happy, I said, I get to
tell Rob to his face, tell.

Speaker 5 (42:04):
That man put some respect on his name.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
I bet you did, because at first, you know me
sick like daddy? Is that say?

Speaker 5 (42:10):
I don't want to see your draws?

Speaker 2 (42:11):
Right?

Speaker 5 (42:11):

Stay unless you're late on your credit payments in the
US of A pay them bills. And speaking of pen
I know somewhere that you ain't gotta pay for a while.
Let me explain. We're talking about errans. Put down the
wrapping paper, drop the gingerbread cookie, and to tell the
elf on the shelf to take five. Have a little break, elf,
because Aarons just broke the holiday universe full on North
Pole meltdown. They are extending the season of giving with

(43:21):
no payments until January first to twenty twenty six. You
heard me right, You don't owe a thing until next year.
And so the best part is you can start with
just one penny. So if you got a penny, just
jingle around in your pocket, if you got one in
your ass, trade anywhere you can find one under your shoe,
doesn't matter. Grab that penny because you are in luck.
You're basically Santa Claus. Grab it and slay your way
to your nearest errands. Did you know that Aaron's been

(43:43):
taking care of communities for seven decades We're talking seventy years.
They've been helping customers bring home brand new, name brand furniture, appliances,
electronics and mattresses. Everything you need to make your home
holiday ready and cozy. So remember, the start of just
a penny offer is in store only, and it won't wait,
so get moving, get festive and strutting the errands like
you own the place before time runs out, So no

period subject to credit approval.
