Why were you we airing in it into this, you know,
Ben Maller, I hadn't seen her show.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
I hadn't seen her since super Bowl week until you
dropped the picture.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
We went out to dinner. What's a big we have
to know?
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Okay, you could have told me all yeah, I was hanging.
I was a week all going out to dinner. You
couldn't wait till you put it on the dinner before
you put to order.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
In that way he did.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
That was like a week later. I didn't drop that picture,
just so sorry, all right, write it down, Mallor, committed
to memory. There you go, at least when people are
still awake. Sorry about that, Ben, write it down. Committed
to memory. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. For
you layman out there can't figure out letters and numbers together,
it's eight seven seven nine nine, trigonometry sixty three sixty nine.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
And if you hear feedback on the line, it's your
own fault. Thank you enough. And if you're call in
here and have a problem with what we say, guess
what tough stay shit. There you go. And with all
that said, always remember.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Sweetie Beaty, there you go. All right, let's go, big show.
Let me welcome in my co host. He is Kelvin
Helvin Washington. There you go, yeah man happy?
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Uh yeah, Magic City Monday, big game coming up. You know,
I'm not really particularly rooting for anybody. Have no interest Homemark. Well,
I can't just wear a hoodie. He's the biggest.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
That's why.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
Let me tell you something. I'm always torn, and I'm
gonna tell you why. As long as we do this
radio show together, I will always root against your teams.
I don't care what it is. I hate the whole
Dan Hurley. I don't like like his whole persona. So
I'm hoping that Michigan wins. But then I have to
face you. So I want Michigan.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Is it possible that Yukon and Michigan can both lose?
That's why I went the Super Bowl? The Chiefs like that,
like that's what I need in order to rob me.
That's why I want the Chiefs Lions.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Now it's in the palace where both are disqualified and
nobody wins.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
How's that Chiefs Lions super Bowl all night? No, we
can't do this. The Chiefs ain't getting it again and
the Lions are never getting it. Will just come. Not
as long as I have a radio show.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
I told you I'll be on my deathbed and I'll
kick the plug out.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Serious like that was the funniest because I don't want
to hear Fryan. I was in real tears when you
said that. For those who don't know, it was a
hilarious moment.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
I said.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
I gave some crazy proposition and I said, well, what
are the lions or this or this or that?
Speaker 1 (04:05):
And he was like, I don't give a dang. I'll
kick out the life support. I'll pull the plug myself.
I'll do it myself for the I don't want to do.
That's funny. Now, good weekend an Easter was great. It
was weird because we had a seat next to us
that was just sitting there and they put a little
piece of paper and it said, Rob Parker.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Oh you got plenty of room there. Everybody was happy
that I was, but no they weren't.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I'm gonna come.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
I just this just didn't work out this weekend. That's
all good, and I don't want to be.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
I was like, I'll just come on a regular day
when I could get a brunch out of it.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
You know what I mean? Wait, hold on, what I
gotta I gotta take you to brunch. Of course.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
You know if the negative waffles in some and some
eggs is gonna get you to heaven waffle dragging up manci.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
But I'm gonna tell you, I gotta.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Admit, you know, I hop is doing a like a
lot to get people back into the restaurant.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I have tap dancing. I mean they doing a running man.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Five dollars pancakes. I had a breakfast the other day.
I had breakfast after my haircut. I went eggs toast
hash Browns sausage. Seven dollars in Los Angeles for breakfast.
That's not that's disturbing. That's Coney Island level. You know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Seven dollars, that's Coney Island. Anybody for this?
Speaker 4 (05:21):
I was like it was a shame because I couldn't
eat the potatoes and the bread.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
But still seven dollars in La No, No, you didn't
need it. Did you give us somebody in the street?
Speaker 5 (05:31):
Nah?
Speaker 2 (05:31):
I just I wasn't. So we just put them right
back there.
Speaker 6 (05:34):
No.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
I just told them don't even bring it out because
I don't want to waste food.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
All right, let's walk.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
You lost a few fifteen sixteen sixteen, so it's coming,
it'll be I got my trainers to not start on Monday,
so it's gonna be another thirty thirty five. So I'm
still getting if you if not if since you said
you're doing it. But with the trainer and eating dude,
you're gonna manzi remember one eighty on August eleven.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
I'll bring this Galen on August eleven with the trainer.
Now I'm in.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
When you didn't have the trainer, I me and Robb
Gi you were asked us we did like with the trainer,
I believe it. Now it's gonna happen. I'm paying this
dude three times a week. You know what I mean
to get it done. So you know that means I'm in.
And once I get started with him, then I'll do
my own days, you know, like because you start to
get into the regiment. All right, let's welcome in the
odd couple crew. We wouldn't be able to do this
fine radio program without him. Rob g is our producer,
(06:29):
Mark is our engineer for Alex Mark good to see you,
greetings ohe or of course Monte Bolanos is at the
anchor desk show updates throughout the program, and of course
Elijah back from his uh two week extravaganza vacation not
(06:49):
outside the country, so finally he's slumming it and only
stayed in the United States. Oh man, because Elijah's been
everywhere he has.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
I love it gets out that's talking about I love
it man.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
All right, But I don't forget about our YouTube channel,
and you can watch us and listen to us. But
just search Odd Couple FSR again, that's odd Couple FSR
and hit that subscribe button. All right, rob G can
you set up the National Championship Game? Which when I
was a kid growing up, baseball opening day was today. Yeah, oh,
(07:24):
in the afternoon, the Cincinnati Reds always played the first
game of the year, and then the National Championship Game
was that night. It always made for a great like
first Monday in April.
Speaker 7 (07:35):
But anyway, Yeah, we're about ninety minutes away from tip
off the National Championship Game, the Michigan Wolverines taking on
the Yukon Huskies, and history is on the line one
way or the other, but more so for Yukon because
Dan Hurley is staking his claim as the single greatest
college basketball coach of the modern era. Guys, he's eighteen
(07:57):
and one over his last nineteen tournament games. His overall
winning percentage is eight hundred, second best ever behind only
John Wooden, and if they win tonight, they will become
the first program since John Wooden's UCLA Bruins in seventy
two through seventy five to win three national championships in
a four year span. Rob, I know you're a big
(08:19):
history buff. I know you're rooting for history made tonight
here in Phoenix, and.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
No way know how Actually I'm rooting for him not
to win. I don't want to see this history only
for one reason has nothing to do against the kids,
or the.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Players or whatever.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
Dan Hurley is not a likable sort to want to
see such history bestow on him. That is my issue
in the way he treats people the way do you
know who I am? Do you remember when they lost
in Hawaii and he made a stink out there? And
there's a way of winning and being gracious, And you know,
(08:58):
I'm not saying that you have to be perfect and
you never could have an issue or something, you know
what I mean. I'm not He's had way too many.
He's unlikable, has nothing to do with basketball. Sometimes in sports,
you just don't want to see certain people win. I
have a long list, but Dan Hurley is at the
top of my list. If U can't loses, I will
(09:24):
not lose any sleep. I'm not saying I'm gonna celebrate
throw confetti, right, but I'll be okay with it. Even
if Michigan is a rogue program and they've brought players
and this is a Indiana all over and we'll get
into that. You know where they are. This is in
some fab five and they develop players. This is some
(09:46):
team that they put together, you know what I mean.
Like when you have a game in the gym and
you bring in you know, your squad, your squad, and
they're gonna rough house everybody else.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
That's something different.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Dan Hurley, no way know how If the basketball gods
are right and righteous and fair and honest and believe
in wholesome college basketball and good people winning, and I'm
talking about good people his persona. I don't know him personally.
I'm talking about that the persona. Then Michigan wins and
(10:24):
Dan Hurley is denied history.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Oh I don't get why. I mean, is he a
bit prickly? Yes? Is he a little crazy? On the
sidelines and all that good stuff.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Yes, does he lose his mind and headbut rest with
his jacket hanging off the side of him. Yes, But
I don't think that he's any crazier than some people
we've had. I mean, let's just not even talk about
Bobby Knight. I mean that guy's jacking players up, throwing
chairs on the court, talking crazy to media. I mean
Dick Cheney, and then people are scrapping back in the day,
remember that was it Don Cheney, And so I think
(10:57):
we've had prickly player. I mean, let's not talk about
college football right where guys are a bit rude or
a bit eccentric. So I think if you kind of
know his background, although he's been through in a way,
he came back and got to this place in his
life personally, let alone professionally, I think there's something to
root for there, because again, he was down bad for
some years in his life, had a lot of issues,
(11:17):
little demons. So I think that people who know his
story would root for that the man kind of who
have changed his life. But I think I think we
like a little bit of that in college college sports, right,
a little bit of the the guy who's good old,
sometimes annoying, sometimes hard to root for because you need that.
We talk about this all the time. I say, I
don't want the same guy in every single thing. I
don't want oh g golly, I just let the record
(11:38):
speak for himself. I want a guy who's gonna say something.
I want a guy who's not I want a guy
who's gonna get in somebody's face. I want a guy
who's gonna be more chill. I think that's what makes
life is having his you know, different types of flavors
of approach. So I'm not rooting for him or against
him per se, but I don't think Dan Hurley is
bad for the sport. And not to mention, we're gonna
talk more about it, as you mentioned a little bit
more next hour. I mean, he's kind one of the
(12:00):
last hope if you will, the traditional programs, if you will,
to care about that, if you're.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Talking about the way you coach and the way you recruit.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
So I just don't like the way that he deals
with people and the way his there's a gracious way
of winning, and despite his background that you're talking about
and rooting for that, there's a way of still handling
that when you go and tell.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
People, do you know who I am?
Speaker 4 (12:25):
And you go to Hawaii and just because you lose,
you can't be a sore loser when you've won as
much as he has. We'll get to Gino and Dawn
and that whole thing. Yeah, an hour three, but it's
the same thing, like Gino has won a lot, and
people can make all the excuses that he wanted. That
was just a terrible look. And I've seen too many
(12:45):
Dan Hurley's from the terrible look not to not feel
good about him. Not one, not one. We're not talking
about one situation, that's all. I don't mind a villain,
if you will, like you know my theory. I don't
mind a villain.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
I don't mind somebody who doesn't mind who's only locked
into the twelve to fifteen men on their team, their school,
their university, who ain't here to try their piece, who
ain't your their like. And again I understand the role
that he plays in all of this. You need some villains,
You need some guys that you said, man, I hope
mission it's people right now who can't stay in Michigan
but they want I'm pointables at you, Well, you in
(13:21):
this case want Michigan, but they want Michigan to win
just simply because they don't like Dan Hurley. And you
need that sometimes, so I don't mind it. I don't
mind when they won the final four game last week,
guess what happened.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
They boot him that they boot him where they should
be celebrating him, and that's good for being a good
coach and what he was able to do with the
colossal upset and to win, but instead he got booed
because of the way that he walks around and treats people.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
That's all I'm talking about, not.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
The xit and Os, not you know, like there's guys
who you might dislike because they do win.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
The people don't like the Yankees, or people don't like
the I was gonna say the.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
Cowboys, but they don't win, you know what I mean,
Or or the Chiefs at one time, or the Dodgers,
now you know what I mean. And I do understand that.
But that's not because Aaron Judge has done anything. It's
just a history of that organization and they've won a lot.
He's walking around with a chip on his shoulder. He's condescending,
he's mean spirited. I'm just talking about from the stuff
(14:22):
that I've seen, I don't know him personally.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
I just can't. I can't embrace that agent.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
I can't embrace He's had some moments interacting with with
refs or a press conference after a game after a loss.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
I get that, but I don't mind it.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Again, I don't mind it, just simply because we need
a little bit of that, a little bit of juice.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
Everybody can't be the same guy, and that not about
being the same guy win with some class in dignity.
I don't I don't want everybody to be the same
or be robots. But eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine,
are you rooting for Dan Hurley and the Huskies to
make history tonight or would you rather not? Or can
(15:02):
you say like I want to say after the game.
Isn't that a shame? Because that's what I want to
say more than any.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
Say we want to hear from you.
Speaker 4 (15:10):

Dan Hurley trying to be co one of the greatest
coaches of all time with this track of winning possibly
three championships in four years they win tonight, are you in?
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Do you like him? Is he good for the sport?
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Rob says he's over and done like his kind of
prickly personality.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
I say, I don't mind him.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
A little villain Into Sports eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
So we got Mike in Iowa. You're on the Odd
Couple Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Mike?
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Hi?
Speaker 8 (17:01):
Rob?
Speaker 6 (17:01):
Hi, Guys, I think you're really just about as obnoxious
in your role. Do you think Danny Hurley isn't his? So?
I mean, I'm not rooting for Danny tonight just because
I'm going for the Big ten. But in all honesty,
you can be very obnoxious, and I think if I
knew you in person, maybe I'd like you. But I
think if you gave Dan Hurley a chance and you
(17:23):
got to know him, you'd probably get like him. He's
just passionate, like you.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
What have you ever seen me treat people outside, like
like outside of this, like poorly? Seriously, like if I
was if if there was video that surface that I
was treating, seen you.
Speaker 6 (17:37):
Treat people outside? I can't say that.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
All I can say is I haven't treated anybody poorly
way you know.
Speaker 6 (17:43):
All I'm saying is the way you sound on.
Speaker 8 (17:46):
The radio is obnoxious at times, very obnoxious and impressing.
That's all.
Speaker 6 (17:51):
Okay, I view you, I view you on the outside,
hearing you the same way that you view Dan Hurley.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
No, but I've seen him, but I've seen him do that.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Not we're not talking about coaching, or you might not
like my radio style, but I've seen him treat people poorly,
is what I'm saying. Like just watching, that's that's the new.
That's the what he said to the reftie of the
Dan Hurlier radio.
Speaker 9 (18:15):
Okay, you know is that it? No, please Rob Parker,
I'm not Dan Hurley Radio. I'm actually six foot four. Okay,
nobody can pick me up. That's funny, all right, Napoleon.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Here Darren in Maryland. You're on the yard couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Darren?
Speaker 6 (18:31):
What's up? Rob? And Kelvin? What they can't agree?
Speaker 8 (18:34):
Hey?
Speaker 10 (18:34):
What's up?
Speaker 7 (18:35):
Man?
Speaker 11 (18:35):
I agree with both of it. Actually, I'm with you, Kelvin.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
I do agree.
Speaker 11 (18:39):
I need my characters to be that normal self. However,
I agree with Uncle Rob. I think I just can't
wait to say all poor little fell.
Speaker 12 (18:47):
He didn't win because you know why, I feel like
you can't.
Speaker 11 (18:52):
You can't be a privileged character. You know what I'm saying.
Like you get away with stuff that nobody else can
get it, Yes, anybody else. If anybody else had went
up to a referre them and bump them all, go
ahead and face to face, no matter what was happening,
they would have got a technical. And here's the thing
about it that fran Fraschello said today on another show
that Guy and Hurley are friends. To me, that should
(19:16):
be taboo.
Speaker 12 (19:16):
I know you make friends in this business whatnot, but
you shouldn't be friendly enough that I can come to
you in a heated contest and feel comfortable enough to
get up in your face or chest bump you.
Speaker 11 (19:29):
And you're an official of my game. How do I
know you didn't give me a favor or a miss.
You know, it might. It don't have to be blatant.
Speaker 12 (19:42):
It could be just like subtle stuff like a little
tictac file that most people overlook because a lot of
files happened in the.
Speaker 8 (19:48):
Game that don't get called.
Speaker 11 (19:49):
I wonder, I know I didn't get a I didn't.
Speaker 12 (19:51):
Get a favorable whistle because we friends, no doubt I know.
Speaker 10 (19:56):
Is all I know?
Speaker 12 (19:57):
Is I Hubert Davis or somebody that had bumped a
referee like a celebration on got in the face.
Speaker 11 (20:03):
Did he got a technical?
Speaker 12 (20:04):
North Carolina would end up losing on free throws, and
then that would have.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Gone crazy, It would have gone I wonder if that
has something.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Rob g was telling us that referee is not coaching
in the National Championship game, and I wonder, I mean,
I'm sorry with refing a National championship game, and I
wonder if that has something, Not so much that he
didn't call it tech as much as the fact that
it might get out there.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
They're cool, they're friends. That's no good. That's interesting. Let's
squeeze one more.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
When uh Drew in New Jersey, you're in the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio, what's up?
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Drew.
Speaker 13 (20:37):
I agree with the first calling. Rob is Dan Hurley.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Oh god, don't say that. Don't say I just threw
up in my mouth.
Speaker 6 (20:44):
I just do that.
Speaker 8 (20:46):
Threw up.
Speaker 13 (20:47):
Oh my god, it's a compliment.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
That is funny. I'm getting you a T shirt.
Speaker 13 (20:52):
I think. I think there's like I'm looking at from
this perspective, he's winning in the toughest error because you're
dealing with n I l he doesn't have any players.
I mean, I'm sure he does, but compare it to Arizona,
compared to Michigan, and look at look at John Calipari.
He's had how many MVPs and he can't This guy's
already doubled his can't.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Coach, can't coach cal I don't know how many times
I gotta say it.
Speaker 13 (21:17):
Just coach guy from from New Jersey.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
That's why you like him, That's why you like him.
That's okay either. Yeah, I mean, well, he's just a
bad guy. He could be a bad guy him. Tell
the referee, don't you.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Know who I am? I would say no, he was asking, would.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
Yeah, Napoleon Bonaparte, Yes, I remember you. I read about
you in the history book.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
I hope.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Yeah, Well, all the best of him, except tonight. You
know he can't win tonight. All right, appreciate the cause.
Antonio Daniels will talk to him in just a moment,
chopping up with NBA headlines, maybe even, of course, ask
him about this big game coming up here in a
couple of hours or so, about an hour or so
right now it is Manzi.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
You want to follow him? A Daniels thirty three? A
d what up? Man?
Speaker 8 (22:24):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (22:25):
How are you? How are you all? Good? Man?
Speaker 8 (22:27):
I am awesome man? Three games lest.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Yes, that's it?
Speaker 4 (22:32):
Yeah, well, I mean sad because you want to do
the playoffs, you know, but not this year?
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (22:38):
And where they started the Pelicans though, you know they
got better.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Listen awful?
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (22:43):
How long? How many games? Is Ion played this year?
Speaker 6 (22:46):
Uh sixty what's the end now?
Speaker 8 (22:48):
I think sixty three right now?
Speaker 2 (22:50):
That's huge. That's huge for him, So I mean neceinscerely,
that's huge. Yeah, that is all right.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
Let's let's get into this real quick before we jump
into the NBA stuff National Championship game. What do you got?
Who are you looking at? Tonight's what? He some key factors.
Speaker 8 (23:03):
And I'm gonna be honest with that. I followed the
the women's college basketball more than I did the men's
Why is that?
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Why is that?
Speaker 8 (23:11):
I don't know, I just over the last probably four
or five years or so. You know, there's just you know,
I just I just enjoy watching, uh, the women's game.
Like there are certain stars within the women's game that
I literally just I love watching the Hannah Hidalgos, you know,
Madison Booker, you know what I mean. You can go
down the list of different players that I really enjoyed
(23:32):
Olivia Miles watching play. So but if I have to
make a pick, if you I'm born with Yukon because
the I'm interested to see I can't pronounce his last name.
The guy that got injured for Michigan.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
Oh yeah, Thunderburg, London, Yeah.
Speaker 8 (23:52):
London Berg. I'm interested to see how impactful he can be.
I know, when you're younger, you're kind of made of rubber,
but when you have a knee sprain and ankle sprain
that severity and you only get forty eight hours to recover,
I'm interested to see how impactful he can be.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
They showed him walk into the bus and he you know,
you knew cameras will be on it, so he was
lee looked walking fine then but again to your point,
he's trying to show up for the cameras, so we see.
Speaker 8 (24:17):
Yeah, but the thing about the thing about walking is
you could control the environment, you know what I mean,
Like you know, from somebody who's been injured before, I
know exactly how to move to avoid filling it. You know.
It's like when I could control the ambiance, it's cool,
but when I'm on defense, it's reactive. I can't control anything.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
What did you make of the whole geno, Dawn spin Man.
We're going to get into this an hour number three
for people who want us to, you know, expound on it,
but we just want to get your take.
Speaker 8 (24:44):
On I thought it was so incredibly unprofessional I thought
it was so unprofessional from Zeno to respond to something
that happened in pregame. Here's my question that I would ask, No.
Number One, how would this be looked at if it
was turned around if this was Don Staley that did
(25:06):
this to Gena and Ariyama? Can you imagine the uproar? Yeah,
that would come from this one. But two, would Gino
had been upset if he would have won the game?
Speaker 4 (25:15):
No, that wouldn't have been exactly you know that, and
that that is the issue.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
I'm with you on it. It's just it's such a
bad look.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
You can't win that much, Antonio, so that when you
lose mad and be mad.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
You He's won way too much, too much to act
like that.
Speaker 8 (25:32):
What it did though. Another reason I didn't like it
is because it took the shine off of Don Staley
in South Carolina. And you know that what Don Staley
did last night though, when she lost, he gave all
the credit in the world to u C. L A
and and their head coach.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
All right, let's get to it, get you your moment.
Speaker 8 (25:53):
I'm gonna let you enjoy it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
No, No, that's the way it's supposed to be.
Speaker 6 (25:57):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
The Lakers are banged up now. They got right in there,
Uncle gone. So what it was you we expect here?
Uh No, Austin Reez right, and Luca's going uh to
Germany and parts are known to try to do something
that we don't know.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
What's going on there.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
I'm gonna I think he's going to see doctor Frankenstein
in Germany.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
I'm gonna assume that that's what's going on.
Speaker 8 (26:20):
But the Lakers nothing different, nothing different, like it is
what it is right now, you know, like there's nothing
more And I'm not telling you guys something you don't
already know. There's nothing more important than this time of
the years in health, it's the most important thing. And
we're not This isn't a Lakers conversation. This is a
(26:40):
health conversation, right because I tell you what, if you
go down the list of the best teams in the
Western Conference and you take away shake Yodis, Alexander and
chet Homework, and you take away Wemby and Deer and
Fox or Wemby and Stefan Castle, and you take away
Nicola Yoki to Jamal Murray, We're having the same conversation
about those teams too. So it's not like you know,
because Luca and Austin Reeves are gone, that we're having
(27:03):
a conversation about the Lakers that we wouldn't have about
other teams. You take the top two players, the top
two facilitators, the top two scores off of any team
in this league, that team is going to struggle, especially
in the postseason.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
Without a doubt, which is why I mean, if do
you chance it, do you say, all right, screw We're
gonna try to make a deep run. If Luca comes
back and he said, look, obviously I'm not healthy and
I'm not perfect, but I can play, Austin Reed says
the same thing. Is it worth it to you? Do
you just say, hey, man, we want you for the
next ten years.
Speaker 8 (27:33):
Austin Reeves is out five or six weeks though, So
even if you go on the short end of that
and say he's out five weeks, that still puts you
probably past the first round.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
Well, he doesn't have to rush back because they're not
getting out of first Yeah, well what about Luca?
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Who's more important?
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Do you?
Speaker 8 (27:49):
But the thing about Luca, here's the issue that you're
run into with Luca. I can't think of a time
this year outside of Jason Tatum where somebody has returned
and have and have not been on the minister restriction, right,
And if.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
You're at Lakers, you can't bring them back and throw
them into the fire.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
And do all that. What are you going to do?
You don't you don't mess around with that.
Speaker 8 (28:09):
Exactly because there's a lot of questions going on right now.
If you're Golden State, why bring Steph Curry back?
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Right?
Speaker 8 (28:15):
You know what's a question going on about that? And
I don't think for me again, obviously I'm on the
outside looking in. Why do you risk it? If you're
the Lakers, why.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
Do you risk it?
Speaker 8 (28:23):
This is obviously your star for the next hopefully decade plus.
You don't want to put him in a situation where
the hamstring now becomes an issue and it leads into
the summer and then it leads in the next year.
And that was something that he's dealing with on and
off for the next four or five years, because those
hamstrings are tricky. They are they are tricky, you know,
so you don't want to play with if you don't have.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
To go ahead, who's your bookie of the year? Vegas
is flopping? Okay, Vegas is flipping and flopping, and I
don't know. I don't agree with Vegas that he all
of a sudden.
Speaker 8 (28:56):
Yeah, here's the thing, let's say the quiet part out loud.
Everybody knows that the NBA wants Cooper Flag to win
the Rookie of the Year. Everybody knows that.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Why did we know? You know why? You know why?
Speaker 8 (29:10):
Because because of how much press that has been behind Cooper.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
Yes, and and and then and then then and you
notice Antonio and Neil and Kelvin for all time greatness.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
And he don't win Rookie of the Year, no question
he he not.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
In that conversation, all the greats have won Rookie of
the Year.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Am I right?
Speaker 8 (29:31):
They know this, they know it.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
I'm telling you that.
Speaker 8 (29:33):
And here's the here's the thing about the Rookie of
the Year conversation. It's not about who the best prospect is.
It's not who's going to be the best.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
Play the best.
Speaker 8 (29:42):
It's who had the biggest impact this year. And I'll
tell you what. I am a firm believer that the
NBA needs to start rewarding availability. And if you looked
at the difference, I'm not taking away from the year
that Cooper flags he has a fantastic year, But Continent
was playing into well more games than Cooper. That's significant.
(30:03):
That's huge when you talk about a double figure game.
As far as games played and lack thereof, there's a
drastic difference in the few in between the two. So yes,
I get that the Cooper has the NBA behind them, because,
like you said, Rob, it's difficult to have certain conversations
long term when at step one you didn't win Rookie
of the Year. But when we look at the grand
(30:25):
scheme of things, what Charlotte had done, they're a plus
twenty right, more than they were wins last year, right,
And a big reason of that is Concinipple. Yeah, we
can say LaMelo ball has gotten more mature and Brandon
Miller's more available, but their team is still the same.
They simply added Conkiniple to that roster and they got
north of twenty more wins.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
I agree, And the writers aren't going to be swayed
by that because you just said that the NBA wants it.
But when they did the straw Pole, the Nipple had
eighty eight votes out of the one hundred, So the
writers and that's good. The writers haven't been. They don't
care about what what the league wants.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
It'll be interesting to see if history though, I mean
you go back to back fifty and forty five, you know,
point games, and it'll be interesting to see. If you know,
we often talk about this eighty it's the last thing
I saw.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
That, ain't it. He's had.
Speaker 8 (31:15):
I tell you what, if we if we are doing
things and making decisions on prisoner of.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
Them, can't be that can't be the problem.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
It can't be that because if he has if he
has a bad shooting night, say this last game of
the year goes one, four eleven from the field, right,
would you say, oh, well, he just had a bad
night at the offense.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
What I'm saying is they've got, probably like everybody else,
three or four games left, and if he drops thirty
forty forty five fifty in the last three or four games,
I think that might dude, he has nothing.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
He when I say when I say, when I say extremes,
when I say extremes, it's like the end of the world.
I told him that Jared Goff was going to throw
four interceptions in the playoff game, and he looked at
me like I had the third head, right, uh, Antonio,
and he threw three and a fumble.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
Talk but you say it every time, so you got
one right, all right? You dead clock you.
Speaker 8 (32:06):
I've said, why'd you say? You looked at you like
you had a third head?
Speaker 13 (32:09):
Like?
Speaker 8 (32:10):
Is it having a second head? H?
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Yeah for me?
Speaker 4 (32:13):
Yeah, because you know people all right, people look at
me like already it.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Was an additional I said, that's a limit. Eighty two
is a limit. Now you're gonna bring three out of here?
Speaker 8 (32:23):
He doesn't touch much.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
He appreciate you, man, as always, Thank you, buddy, for sure.
Speaker 8 (32:28):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Now make sure you give him a follow as always.

have the women's basketball National Championship dominant win against South
Carolina seventy nine fifty one.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
See that's a play by play man. He knows the history.
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
You've got to say all of that in your closing
play by play, right, So then when they replay that
in a highlight reel or whatever, it says everything we
need to know.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
It's a great point.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
And I was Westwood one Radio right there, shot to
coach close and that UCLA team.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
Getting to win for this one history. He's all right,

Speaker 2 (35:02):
How'd you do all right? Friday two and one?
Speaker 4 (35:05):
That brings my total to ninety seven and sixty seven.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
Thirty games over five hundred. You on a Dan Hurley
run right now? Please?
Speaker 4 (35:15):
I just threw up in my mouth don't mention him
and me in the same sentence. All right, here we go,
best bet. I got the Spurs minus eight and a half.
They're hosting the seventy six ers.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
That's a weird team this year. The Sixers.
Speaker 4 (35:28):
I don't know what they are exactly, but a nice
couple of games and they have a couple of good
Mbid was balling when he's healthy. Ye, Spurs minus eight
and a half at home. I'm gonna also take the
Cavaliers minus thirteen and a half against the Wizards Nashville.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
Oh, I mean Memphis. Sorry about that, Lebron want him
to move? Yeah, I can't believe we respond to the
black thing. Everybody was talking about. What when the people
are like, oh, you don't like black people?
Speaker 4 (35:54):
Why because he was playing golf and telling him how
to take it out of the Black city.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Wow, you putt acting at black the black city. I'm
just saying, people always doing that crack you to be
the new something new.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Report says that black people ho ho All right, wait,
too much acting at black.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
Denver minus seven and a half hosting the trail Blazers.
So we got Denver minus seven and a half, Cleveland
minus thirteen and a half and San Antonio minus eight
and a half. And remember, I'm not telling you who
to bet on. I'm telling you who I bet on.
And I'm thirty games over five hundred going into tonight. Yeah, big,
(36:31):
big shout out to you.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
You've been bawling. Got to have the hard reset at
some time. Somebody just hit a home run for the Dodgers.
Who is that?
Speaker 1 (36:38):
I wasn't looking well Freddy Freddy does what he does
does third of the season.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
Or real quick.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Lamar Jackson looked like he's showing up for camp what
she hadn't done in years, which is at normal to
the tune of one and a half million dollars she's
given up for Missini's camp. That's when you know, you
just he hit him with the magic Roger. I'm not
gonna be here, like you don't mind giving up a
million and a half dollars to show up. But new
coach mentor there defensive coach, which obviously something they need
(37:08):
familiar with the team. But I thought, I thought it's
good for him, like good for him to show up. Say,
new regime, new system, knew all that we need me.
I wasn't my best last season. We as a whole,
one of our best. Let's show up, let's set a
hard reset. Let's get back to being Super Bowl favorites
like they have been the last few years.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
It's not gonna be the difference when whether you win
or lose. It just isn't, you know what I mean.
But I just like the idea that you show up
show support for the new coach to say, okay, let's
you know, get there. But whether you come or not,
if you it just doesn't mean anything he wanted to coach.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
It might be the other thing because it ain't worked.
They ain't got nowhere near the superint this before.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
There's plenty of other great players who haven't shown up,
you know what I mean. And it doesn't I don't
know how many chiefs went to uh rob z.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
Was Patrick Mahomes showing up early? Well, Daggy Lamar, you
show up early? Was Tom Brad?
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Yeah? Please? But they ain't got nothing to do with that.
Them winning have nothing to do with you.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
At a certain bone, you got to do the complete
opposite whatever you've done. That might be where the Marcins
Georgia stand. Let me do the opposite of everything. He
might have a shot to Actually, I just think it's
a it's a good show for the new coach. I agree,
I mean, especially from your leader showing up again. He didn't.
He didn't even have the season he would have wanted me.
His seasons have been incredible the last four or five,
(38:26):
so they almost made the as bad as they were.
Speaker 4 (38:29):
He drove them down the field for a field home
and it guy missed it.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
He did, like seriously a cup two years ago.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
They had a chance to try the game in Buffalo
and and uh, Mark Andrews dropped the times.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
I don't know why that snake snake bitten.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
That's the last two years. Think about how the last
two seasons and nake bitten team. For sure, they're trying
to get some better mojo around there.
