Speaker 3 (01:35):
But Rob g.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
We did hear finally from the Celtics today, did we
not about Jalen Brown?
Speaker 3 (01:45):
And it was very into.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
This, Yes, sir, the Jalen Brown trade has finally been
made official. Earlier today, the two sides consummated the deal
that sent the All NBA forward to Philadelphia for Paul
George and a couple of draft picks, and of course
Celtics fans are upset about it, not only could they
lose Jalen Brown, but because they feel like the return
was terrible.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
And to go to on the division rival was kind
of weird.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
Just bet you beat you.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
So on Monday.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Earlier today, actually, during our pre show meetings, Brad Stevens
met with the media for the first time.
Speaker 6 (02:17):
Take a listen, that is a hard thing to trade
a guy that you first of all care so much about,
but secondly have so much respect and admiration for to
a team that just beat you in the playoffs and
that you're going to literally play six times before the
playoffs next year. But I do think that ultimately, when
you do a deal, you have to be thinking about
you first and the optionality it creates for you.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Calvin, all right, you got a problem with Brad Stevens.
Speaker 7 (02:47):
I do, man, I well, not so much him, but
Rob g there is a lot more of what these
anonymous gms have said. Anonymous gms coming out of the blue,
so many of them. Now, Oh, I don't understand what
to say.
Speaker 5 (02:59):
Trade him.
Speaker 7 (02:59):
Others saying, oh, it's the money. Others are saying, Yo,
you know, he's really efficient. If you look at the analytics,
he was like the seventh best player of the team.
And if you look at the analytics, analytics, analytics, analytics. Man,
you know what, Rob Okay, sometimes you gotta go and
get this thing done, and I think analytics.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
I will concede. He is getting paid a whole lot
of money.
Speaker 7 (03:17):
Seventy million dollars eventually they got if they extend them
two more years, it can be crazy money, without a doubt.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
I get that. And we know what the second April.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Alright, so so what so what? Okay?
Speaker 7 (03:26):
So why are you gonna push that to the side.
I'm gonna tell you that's a big heart is a
big part of it. But I don't think that's the
sole reason. I think they're rop We literally do this
in every sport. Every summer, there's a new quarterback, there's
a new player that gets some deal, whoa him because
it's always the next man up. Mike Coley was the
highest paid player in the NBA because he was a right, Well,
(03:51):
I'm saying, so that's what it is.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
They got two of them. They got two of understand,
that doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 5 (03:56):
They got two.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
You're talking about quarterback. You're one way, You're.
Speaker 7 (04:00):
Always you're always going to you have a separate apron
guy because that's just like you're gonna have You're gonna
have a great player right now.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
Then you're gonna have some emergent player. Otherwise your team.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Is never no but not you're gonna have seventy million
dollar players. Nobody has that. And so they signed the
deal was a bad deal. We knew that even back then.
Speaker 7 (04:20):
And what I hear also because he start to hear
other things, they say, well, he just seemed to be
never happy.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
He wasn't gonna be happy.
Speaker 7 (04:28):
If you're not happy, And with the Celtics where you
won and you won a bunch of games, or where
would you ever be happy? And I think a part
of Jayalen Brown is the freedom of thought that he has,
whether you like it or not, the way in which
he conducts himself. I think I told Rob g this.
I remember him coming out the draft because I didn't,
you know, I wasn't too familiar with him, and I
remember him coming out and they would say things like, well,
(04:49):
one thing, you gotta be where he is really smart
one thing, or you know, he's a lot of people
think he might be too smart for his own good.
And I think there's a part of people that feel like, man,
Jayleen Brown won't necessarily play ball. He won't come to
our team and be quiet.
Speaker 5 (05:04):
He won't come here.
Speaker 7 (05:05):
He might be demanding. He might want the best, you know,
the demanding of us to be better. He might be
politically and socially commenting on things and being aware. I
believe that absolutely plays a role in him where people
are just like, I don't know, I'm a little worried
about about him and his personality trait. I strongly believe
that when you look at what he's kind of, the
(05:26):
things that he said, the things that he's done, the
things that he stands for over the last six seven years,
really his whole career, but especially as he became more
of a household name within the NBA confine. So I
think that plays a role because you can't analytic me
to death when we know analytics don't mean anything in
a sense of there's plenty of people that are analytically
great and they don't win anything.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
There's plenty of people who aren't and they're doing some
great things.
Speaker 7 (05:48):
And he led a team that lost their quote unquote
best player in Jason Tatum and led them to the
tune of everybody like, oh shoot, could they win the.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
First season they choke down a three to one lead
without that.
Speaker 7 (05:59):
Absolutely, but I'm just say, dude, that was there, that
got your team, that you competed, you played, showed up.
He's an iron man. And I just feel like more
than I feel like there's more. They're not saying everything Rob,
And I think there's a his personality, his strong personality,
his strong will, his train of thought, his thought of mind, his.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
Freedom of speech. I absolutely think that plays a role.
Speaker 7 (06:21):
And they're using other things as a you know, as
a ah, well, the analytics.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
So that's why we're not looking.
Speaker 7 (06:26):
At him because it don't make sense on paper, just
the analytics, when you see him play, when you see
how already plays, when he shows up night in, night out.
He is a Finals MVP, Perennial, All Star, All NBA
six and MVP voting got his team to the playoffs
without Jason Tatum. And now it's like, oh, I don't
I don't know. So that's what I read. There's more
to this rob than that, and I think some of
(06:49):
those anonymous gms hinted at it.
Speaker 5 (06:51):
They didn't want to fully go there.
Speaker 7 (06:52):
Well, if he just doesn't seem happy, he doesn't, well,
I don't know what if that's not a great situation,
what would be he enjoyed a situation for ten years?
Speaker 5 (07:00):
What do you guys to die there?
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Totally disagree with you.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
I think you have bought into the false narrative about
Jalen Brown because everything that the Celtics checked the box
on Jalen Brown and the reason to move him is
spot on. So they're an analytics team. They live and
die by the three so that they do follow analytics,
So you can't act like they don't. Number two, the
(07:25):
idea of having two players with that kind of money,
even when they signed the deals and they both were
making that. People were like, you can't afford to have
two players, and especially when one wasn't even good enough
to make the Olympic team. Only one made it. But
you're paying both of them Olympic top dollar. Okay, but
(07:47):
he didn't make the team. Okay, So you got two
guys and one guy didn't make the Olympic team.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
And number three.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Jalen Brown had the audacity, after getting after choking out
a three to one lead in the playoffs to the Sixers,
to talk about that being the best season. It's just
a slap in the face to the fan base and
to the people in the organization when you think that's
the best season, because it's never the best season.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
The best season is always when you win a championship.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Anything other than that is bolgoney, is malarkey, is some
false narrative to build yourself up, to say, look, we
did great without the other guy, and I'm that guy,
even though we choked down a three to one lead.
Everything the Celtics are saying, the Boxers checked for me.
(08:38):
It's not because he's a smart guy and all this
other stuff.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
That's not what it is.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Come on, man, he's been there forever he's been there
for ten years. They've had a lot of success. They
just realize with the people that they have, they can't
afford it anymore. The reason you trade them to your
division rival, it's because nobody else could take them. Nobody
else could do it with the money. That's why his
(09:07):
options were very limited.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
They didn't you think they.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Wanted the hand of the seventy six ers, a player
of his ilk. No, they didn't want to. They had
no choice, and that's why I hear you. And that's
why they did it. And they had waited. They absolutely
could have wait.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
Even Milwaukee passed on them.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
You know why you said, why wouldn't Milwaukee take that
deal from Boston? They don't want the seventy million dollars.
They don't want that. They don't want to pay it.
They don't want to pay it. That's a better deal
for them, and so and so I hear you on that.
Speaker 7 (09:41):
What I'm saying is, but give it six months and
we're about to have some other player that we're gonna
be like, why are somebody paying what Walker Kessler. Kessler
has got crazy money. Walker Kessler played five games last year.
He is no way near deserving of what he got
in what the Lakers gave up for that. And that's
my point is every year this happens, where we always go,
(10:02):
I can't believe that guy or those guys that type
of money.
Speaker 5 (10:05):
At least with Jaln Brown, you can say I warranted that.
Speaker 7 (10:09):
You know, if anything, he's had the resume that checks
off a bunch of the things on the list. And
you're talking more Celtics, and I get that at some
point from the organization.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
I want three other organizations.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Now I'm talking about their Celtics financially and the idea
that this guy was saying.
Speaker 7 (10:27):
One I hear you on the Celtics, and I've said
I thought this marriage was ended. I've been saying this
for months because I thought it was just the point
where he was getting ready to get his own situation.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Move on. They're gonna move on.
Speaker 7 (10:38):
I don't think he and Jason Tatum have to be
joined at the hit their whole career. I'm okay with that, Like,
why does a guy have to be with a guy
because it wor because it worked?
Speaker 1 (10:46):
If they won a championship, they went to two finals,
and they won a lot of game games.
Speaker 7 (10:50):
The work is relative because it worked until a certain point,
and now they see us chucking.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Gods were heard and it didn't work.
Speaker 7 (11:01):
They had a bunch of success. I just said that.
But I can see a team want to move on.
I can see a player wanting to move on. I
don't want to have to be He didn't.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Want to move on.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
You can see he got his he's.
Speaker 7 (11:12):
Heard, he got dumb, he got dumbed. I think it's
more how it happened than the fact that I don't
think he's as a.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
I can't believe in trade.
Speaker 7 (11:28):
I think he's don't like what he got traded for,
and and he talked about and can't.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
You get traded for? I don't understand that.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
The bottom line is still he knows he got dumped.
That they they said that they rather not, that despite
the success that they had and what they were paying,
they'd rather not. And I think that is what what
bothers him the most, is that you can look at
the trade any way you want. Kelvin, he was dumped
by the Boston Celtics. They said thank you, but no
(11:57):
thank you. That's what they did.
Speaker 5 (11:59):
I I told you, I thought he was ready to
go anywhere. That's where my stance was.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Been for me should be happy.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
I wouldn't have said in my in my opening statement
that I'm I'm half disappointed and half happy.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
What are you disappointed about? If you wanted your own
team and to leave.
Speaker 7 (12:15):
What he said was what how they handled it? He said,
I never got an explanation. I never got a call.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
You're a player.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
They traded you.
Speaker 5 (12:23):
They I was telling you, what do you want?
Speaker 3 (12:26):
I'm asking you what what I got to say?
Speaker 6 (12:30):
This?
Speaker 5 (12:30):
Me and you have talked about this before.
Speaker 7 (12:33):
I think players look at it as I've literally given
you my all.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
Blase, and they paid him because jillion dollars for his efforts.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
They don't owe him anything else. You know, when you
get into this game, you can be traded.
Speaker 7 (12:45):
I think I think they look at it as man
I thought, not that the trade wasn't gonna happen, or
now that you didn't feel like we need to part ways.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
I think these.
Speaker 7 (12:53):
Players, time in and time out, you name the sport,
we have this conversation. I think they believe, Yo, can
I get a converse? Not that I'm telling you don't
trade me, but just a we're getting ready to make
this move.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
It's been a great run. Blah blah blah blah blah bah.
We're making a move.
Speaker 7 (13:06):
And I think players feel like because in their mind,
I went and spoke to those kids, I went and
read those books.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
I went to the charity when I got part of that.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
When I got fired at w d FN, and they
told me they were gonna make a change and park
of the Man was no longer going to be the
morning show. And they told me in the office. I
didn't ask them for a reason. They you know what
I said to them? Does the producers still have his job?
They said yeah? And I said great, and I walked out.
What what they they said, I'm done, I'm fired. What
(13:35):
they gotta tell me? They what what you're want to hear?
Speaker 5 (13:39):
I'm serious? What happened?
Speaker 7 (13:41):
No, I'm answering you're telling what happened. I can understand
somebody feeling. I would love an explanent or conversations.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
They made a decision already, they made a decision.
Speaker 7 (13:50):
You talked about my parents sick, or I talked to
you when your dad died, or when you're this that
and your child this, And I came to your kid's
birthday party. You came to my wedding and I can
see why a player was a way, not saying they should,
but I think the human instinct kicks in it like dang,
Like we've been through this for years and I thought
I would at least have that that you would.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Just I'm good with it. Once they made the decision,
I don't need any.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
I get you.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
But I'm telling you why.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
I see players, I see what do I what they
decided to get tire.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
It becomes personal, rob It becomes the.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Same way that if if when when players come in
and they request the trade, I wouldn't ask them what
you want.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
We want to be here. Either you're in or you're out.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
If you come in and kill me and you want
to go and work on Covino and Rich, I say
see it later, thank you, and move on. I wouldn't
have to have to ask you any question why you
want to go on to the other show.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
I wouldn't. I wouldn't ask you one reason.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
I hear you.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
I would just say you want it, you don't want
to work here, I got it.
Speaker 7 (14:44):
I think there'll be a boatload of other people who
would be wanting, like wait, why what what?
Speaker 5 (14:48):
It okay?
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Cool?
Speaker 7 (14:49):
They look me in my eye man Man, I think
that's what some people will absolutely desire.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
That all right?
Speaker 1 (14:54):

now with the Jalen Brown hearing from Brad Stevens. Are
you still scratching your head? Still think it was a
stupid trade? Where you at hit us up?
Speaker 3 (17:57):
All right? Truck had done in Boston? He would be
great to start what's up truck for? Don? How are
you hi?
Speaker 10 (18:07):
A gentleman? Thank you for taking my call. Happy people
laid it fourth of July, Yes, sir, we all had
a great weekend we did.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Where are you my man driving coat?
Speaker 10 (18:19):
No, no, Missouri, going to Tennessee, Gonna go to Dolly,
go to Dolly Parton's new truck stop down there the Tennessee.
And she just bought a truck stop that I already loved.
Now she's on it and her her logo is one
of those chrome trucker mudflap girls with big boobs and
a microphone.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
Look excited. He got.
Speaker 10 (18:42):
A long way to go, proprid.
Speaker 11 (18:44):
Know, hud your weekend go.
Speaker 10 (18:46):
I had some big old uh dinosaur looking ribbies.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Yeah you had, you had you had the Bronosaurus ribs, rightnosaurus?
Speaker 10 (18:58):
Yes, that's right, but a doo.
Speaker 7 (19:03):
Hey, I can hear it now. The Trucker Don and
Rob Parker show went well. When Rob is retired, I
can hear it already. You don't old nasty growna. You
can't listen to this show.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
A truck of don. What do you make of the
Jalen Brown situation?
Speaker 10 (19:22):
I'm bummed by the whole thing. You your your take
on it was spot on by the way everything you
said made sense. Uh you know, first off, seventy million
dollars seventy million reasons to be happy you know you're
not gonna get that kind of gratitude. You know, just
(19:43):
anywhere you go, you're you're gonna be winning for as
long as you stay there, which now that's you know,
that's debatable. You're not going to be the number one
in Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Sorry.
Speaker 10 (19:54):
You know you're Johnny ump lately, and you know you
you had the chance to be one A and one
B and flip a coin. Who's one A and one
who's one B? They were both great together and it's
a damn shame that Jalen couldn't see through through the
cloud that he was looking through.
Speaker 7 (20:13):
Now, what do you said, Trucker Dot? I really want
to ask you this as somebody's a fan of the team.
Speaker 11 (20:17):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (20:17):
He says he's never He says he's never said anything.
All reports are he and Jason Tato to get along.
That's what he has said. I believe I believe that
it was just time to part way. That's just Kelvin.
But what do you do you did you feel that
at all? Did it or did it feel like it
was harmonious?
Speaker 10 (20:33):
I felt like there was a little big grudging there.
I just did you know, it just looked like he
he just wanted to be the number one, and it
was pretty obvious. Tatum is a great player, so is JB.
You know, and it's hard to see him go. It
really is. And it would be like splitting up Bird
(20:55):
and McHale from me, you know.
Speaker 11 (20:57):
You know.
Speaker 10 (20:58):
McHale is number two. But he's not a drop off.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
No, he's not a slo He was a big part
of that number two. Thanks.
Speaker 10 (21:06):
He is not a drop off.
Speaker 11 (21:08):
Thanks, guys.
Speaker 10 (21:08):
I appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Appreciate you, Thank appreciate it. How about Harold George Harrold
in Chicago. You're in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Harold?
Speaker 5 (21:16):
What's up?
Speaker 12 (21:17):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Fellas? Happy belated July fourth? Yes, sir, you too, buddy brother.
Speaker 11 (21:22):
Did you guys got a good one?
Speaker 5 (21:23):
Oh? You did with the fam? You know, enjoyed it.
Speaker 8 (21:26):
Man.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
I did a little barbecue and Angels game Angels Red Sox.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
So that was my Oh no, Angels, they couldn't.
Speaker 5 (21:35):
Look out for you.
Speaker 12 (21:38):
Real quick before we begin, Uh, Carmelo Anthony's teams that
he's on are winning the championships consistently consecutively.
Speaker 11 (21:48):
So you have heard it here.
Speaker 12 (21:49):
First next team to win the finals it's going to
be the rockets, gonna.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
Be the rocket.
Speaker 7 (21:53):
Okay, here to make some moves.
Speaker 12 (21:58):
Facts, but that's that's just how the orders going.
Speaker 11 (22:01):
But uh, back to the many topics.
Speaker 13 (22:03):
Yeah, this press conference kind of confirmed to.
Speaker 11 (22:06):
Me it was a salary dump.
Speaker 13 (22:08):
Brad Stevens spent like an hour talking about everything but
Paul George, but the picks, right, how much he loves
Jalen Brown. Uh, you see there was no Joe Mazoola
there to reinforce it's a it's a team thing.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Uh.
Speaker 13 (22:24):
Then there's no current or former players that were tweeting, hey.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
This is inevitable.
Speaker 12 (22:29):
They didn't like each other or about time, which makes
it seems like an upper management kind of told them like, hey,
we're not going to keep you guys. We're going to
keep you guys in the dark on everything. It just
says salary dump lesson right, that's.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
What it is.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
But could you trade him inside your own division, right
to your rival.
Speaker 11 (22:46):
They didn't hear.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
It didn't matter. They hadn't. They had no choice. They
had no choice.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
George, My goodness, it's not that.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
But point Paul George, the thing that you you're not on.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
This I get, But yet Lee. I thought we's trying
to win champions eighty ain't it?
Speaker 1 (23:02):
It's eighty three million? What is the eighty three million dollars?
Seventy three million dollars less? And then they could you
can use him as a as a contract after that,
you know what I mean, as a as an expiring contract.
Speaker 11 (23:12):
Dude.
Speaker 7 (23:12):
When you look at all the lists that he's been
traded for, it's hilarious, like amazing. Paul George is gonna
be the great the gift that keeps on giving.
Speaker 5 (23:20):
All right, a d on the other side of Triney
right now, he is Steve this acre.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 5 (23:36):
All right, thank you, Steve. I want to see Rob Roberts.
He's not happy with this.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
It's a long way to go. Why am I not happy?
Speaker 5 (23:43):
Is the game?
Speaker 10 (23:43):
Over?
Speaker 3 (23:45):
All you gotta do is win by one doll I
just want to see you.
Speaker 5 (23:50):
You want a seventh? No, you wanted seven? Nothing? Don't
do that.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
The last time they played they beat him one, five
to two. That's what I'm two yeah.
Speaker 7 (23:58):
Oh man, thank you, Steve, appreciate you always. It is
the odd couple. Rob Parker Kelvin Washington on a Magic
City United States states Men national team.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
Getting a dub Monday.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
They had to wipe off the ball because it's so
tainted after the gold Did you see.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
That you can't take this one from thos?
Speaker 11 (24:19):
Rob?
Speaker 5 (24:19):
You can't take this one from us, Rob, I'm gonna
take it. You ain't taking it?
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Tell them LEXI, I'm gonna call in. I'm show that
you're on after this. I'm gonna call in after it's all.
They're gonna be busy. They're gonna be busy.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
A D. Who's even excited about this? United States?
Speaker 3 (24:38):
But he didn't say that.
Speaker 5 (24:39):
A D is watching it right now.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
Radio Belle to one.
Speaker 5 (24:46):
Is it really?
Speaker 12 (24:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (24:48):
I'm behind right? How easy it is? You got that
phony cable and.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
Alex come on, Alex, you got me all excited? Now
we down.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
They were so busy, a D. It was so busy,
he celebrating the one. Go Belgium came right back ten
seconds later in score.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Let's talk about a D.
Speaker 5 (25:06):
Yeah, let's change it up, AD, Let's talk cool anyway?
Speaker 14 (25:08):
Hey all good, my man, all good, you know it?
Speaker 3 (25:20):
You already know it?
Speaker 5 (25:23):
Hey do you already know?
Speaker 3 (25:25):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (25:25):
Ad the press conference today right with the Celtics Brad Stevens,
it was pretty obvious they weren't trying to sell you
on Paul George being a better fit or anything. This
was a salary dump and they kind of just said, hey,
we had to take a look at stuff and look
at the opportunity going forward. When you make a trade
like this to a division rival and whatnot, it just
(25:48):
weeks of financial that they just didn't want two guys
making seventy million dollars.
Speaker 11 (25:53):
I get that part. But you can have two guys
that you don't want to make it seventy million dollars,
But that don't mean you have to trade him in
division to a inconference rival that just eliminated you from
the playoff.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Rest well, But but it also says that there weren't
that many suitors, even the Bucks. Even the Bucks didn't
want them. I'm just going, why did the Bucks? Why
did they take that deal?
Speaker 11 (26:14):
No? No, because the thing is, it doesn't mean the
Bucks didn't want him. What that means that there was
a better deal out there, And that's the same thing
I'm saying for the bus and Celtea there had to
be a better deal out there for But what.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Deal, Antonio.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
It's easy to say that, But if you give me
a deal you got inside information?
Speaker 3 (26:32):
What better deal? You mean to tell me.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
That Brad Stevens had three better deals on the table
and took this deal because he I'm asking you, is
that what you're saying?
Speaker 11 (26:42):
You don't need three better you just need one.
Speaker 5 (26:44):
I'm telling you.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
So, so there was a better deal that you know
about that he didn't take.
Speaker 11 (26:49):
Here's the thing. Here's the thing, Rob, here's the I mean,
Brad Stevens is really good at his job. When the
Milwaukee Bucks and y'all that Antokupo that fair through now
the buff the Celtics lost a lot of leverage with
that because people knew that the bridge was burned between
(27:10):
Jalen Brown and the boss of Celtics and they had
to move them. They had to so all levers was lost.
Then when Jaleen Brown did not go to Milwaukee for
Giannis Ante Takupo, the boss of Celtics lost a ton
of leverage at that point because all teams didn't the
league knew that that relationship was over and that he
(27:31):
had to be moved.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Talk no, but but but I'm asking you, Antonio, I
hear you. But what deal did Brad Stevens pass up
that was better? Is what I'm asking you. You don't
trade to your own division against your rival if you
don't have to. I don't believe that. I don't believe
that for one second that there was a deal to
send them out West, send them away, right and so
(27:55):
that he can't hurt you, and you instead gonna go
trade him to a team you gotta play six times.
You're gonna see, you're gonna assume them in the playoffs
if you need to get to the finals.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
It doesn't make sense unless there was no other deal there.
Speaker 11 (28:08):
The issue becomes. The issue becomes people Milwaukee included, did
not want to sign up for the two year potential
one hundred and forty million. Yes, yeah, they didn't want
to sign up for day and Milwaukee fell were just
transpired with the Cleveland Browns. They say that we're just
(28:30):
transpired with the Cleveland Browns. You know, Miles good at
me out and then going to LA. So what you
don't let it do is trade Yan and doctor Cooper
and Bobby portis to the buff of Celtics for JENNN
Brown and a year from now or two years from
now he asks out or he comes in with no
intent of signing an instention. This is the issue that
(28:50):
you're going to run into with Jaylen Brown. But I
tell you what, I tell you what that Philadelphia seventy
six years team, if they mess well to me, could
easily be the best team in the Eastern Conference.
Speaker 5 (29:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (29:05):
I mean they all paper, yeah, old paper, but they
got a banged up superstar.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
They got some other head. And you talk about meshing
as well. It's important.
Speaker 11 (29:13):
Here's the thing about the bang up superstar. Now, the
bangdam superstar can be offset by a player who's accustomed
to shutering the offensive responsibility. They didn't have that before.
So last year or the year prior too, if Joel
and b was hurt, all they had was Tyres Maxie,
That's how they had. Now they have someone that can
give you thirty to thirty five a night by Joel
(29:36):
and B the sideline to offset his forty games or
it's forty five games, however much he is or is
not going to play the edition of Epony Simon's is
going to hit as well.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
So you have the best favorite to win the NBA Finals.
Speaker 11 (29:52):
Well, I mean, right now, it's still so much that
had to happen. There's so much that had to happen.
The biggest move to me in the Eastern Conference hasn't
even come yet.
Speaker 5 (30:00):
Lebron James.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
That's right, Where's he going to me?
Speaker 11 (30:05):
He has to come east, he has to go east.
It would be it makes no sense. And this is
just me talking for Lebron James to go to Golden State,
for Lebron James to go to Minnesota, or Lebron Dams
to go to Denver, because none of those teams put
them ahead of Oklahoma City or San Antonio. So you're
fighting a battle you can't win. But now if you're
(30:26):
the least and you joined Philadelphia or you joined Cleveland,
or you join Miami, now you're putting yourself in a
position to potentially get back to the NBA Finals.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (30:40):
I just eighty my only and I think it might
have been you. I've talked to you about this last week.
The logic is there, Like, I totally get that. My
concern is if you're Lebron, I don't know if he
wants to leave his twelve year old daughter and his
wife and his boys who are both on the West currently,
one currently is a Laker, one is in Arizona. So
I just don't know if he wants us to do
(31:00):
that personally. That that that's my thing I'm looking at.
I totally get the logic.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Of the East antony. I'm with you and coming out west,
staying out west. If you're serious about trying to win,
if you just playing out the string, you could have
stayed with you could have stayed you could have stayed
with the Lakers for a minimum.
Speaker 5 (31:17):
Well, I think he felt fighted there. I think he
could have.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
Gone to the He could have gone to the Clippers.
Speaker 11 (31:21):
Then.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
I mean, if you just wanted to just play, I think.
Speaker 5 (31:24):
He'd rather go to Golden State. No, but just play.
Speaker 11 (31:26):
Let me know you the thing about Golden State, it
sounds great. It'll be awesome to play with that team
on two K.
Speaker 5 (31:33):
That would be k.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Yes.
Speaker 11 (31:34):
You know they're gonna sell tickets. You know it's going
to be like the Heatles again, but they ain't winning.
People are going they're gonna sell a ton of tickets
and there's going to be a documentary with Lebron James
playing at the step could and potentially his final years.
But then the thing is probably the eighth or ninth
team in the Western Conference. What good does that do
(31:56):
him at this point in his career?
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Nothing?
Speaker 7 (31:58):
I think, I think he I think he's I've said
it before. He's doing side quests at this point, Ad,
he's just checking the box.
Speaker 5 (32:04):
Play with my son played?
Speaker 11 (32:05):
Do here?
Speaker 5 (32:06):
Play both conferences?
Speaker 2 (32:07):
Do at this?
Speaker 3 (32:07):
I think, Ad, Well, that makes no sense.
Speaker 5 (32:12):
Let's stay with his former team, the Lakers. What are
they doing? Some people are like, oh, you got Walker Kessler,
you got some good places.
Speaker 11 (32:20):
Listen, we talked about the Lakers this afternoon. I'll tell
the sex them. It knows you. I had no idea.
But here's the thing about the Lakers. Then, Roston is
better than last year? Did it is right now? I
agree to ask you than it is right now? But
I agree to rap the lincas to rap the lincas defense.
(32:40):
They didn't have a lot of options, Like when you
look at the the free agency pool and who was
available and so upreating with concerned, they did not have
a lot of options. I tell you what given Walker
Kessler one hundred and thirty and given Austin Reeves the
mats and after that, like, man, listen, I.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
Bro like mama, hey, and wait a minute, Antonio, here
we go.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
We got we got the song for the new Lakers.
We already got.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
It's time and the crypto storing looked also storing Austin Reeves.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
And the pasty Lakers. Let's play some basketball. It's no time,
no time from.
Speaker 5 (33:34):
A hung up on him.
Speaker 11 (33:35):
I'm sorry he didn't know, he didn't.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
That's all good. No, I don't, I don't. I don't
know what they're doing. I really don't.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Yeah, don't.
Speaker 7 (33:43):
I just I mean, let Ruie's gone, Marcus Smart's gone,
Canard is gone. Guys who played all three played very
well for them in the postseason. Ronnie's gonna retire. I
don't know what's gonna happen with this squad.
Speaker 11 (33:55):
I tell you, the best movement the Lakers made this
fseason with trade and Andrea. Yeah, that's the best they
made this offseason. But signing Wilker Kessler to one hundred
and thirty million dollars help me understand it?
Speaker 5 (34:10):
Five games?
Speaker 11 (34:13):
Yeah, But the thing is for me, I tell you,
I don't grasp the concept of teams continuing to bet
against themselves. I don't understand that in today's NBA. I
love what Detroit is doing right now with jenln don
We're not going to overpay for you. This is business. Now,
there's another team out there that's going to give you
(34:34):
that and then we'll match it. But what's happening is
now teams are starting to drop out, and jenlan Donn
is now going to eventually end up losing out on
this because now he's using leverage. I don't understand why
teams continue to overpay for guys where they're not betting
against anybody but themselves.
Speaker 5 (34:54):
Right, that's a good point.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
Yeah, it doesn't make sense. All right, my man, thank
you out of John with your ad.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
It's snow time, Crypto, It's time cryptotime.
Speaker 5 (35:07):
You're a nuts all right, but man, thank you. I
appreciate you, no doubt. I know he's like, why do
I call him crazy? Dudes?
Speaker 11 (35:16):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (35:16):
All right?
Speaker 4 (35:17):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (35:17):
We got some speaking of the Lakers and Lebron. We
got some Lebron news as well. We'll give you that.
Speaker 7 (35:21):
Next, it is the Ouple on a Magic City Monday,
Stick with your boys, Fox Sports Radio.

chopping it up with a D so good the song

Speaker 3 (36:06):
Oh, I'm sorry, I shouldn't be selling. She put it
back on? All nine TVs right now?
Speaker 5 (36:12):
What are you doing?
Speaker 10 (36:14):
Game on?
Speaker 3 (36:14):
I don't understand what's going on this man?
Speaker 5 (36:16):
They care all tournament now he's excited and one we
might lose. Ain't this a blip? It ain't tell you.
I was not.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
When did I say anything about audition to the United
States at all?
Speaker 3 (36:28):
I don't know. I don't know before today. It was today. No,
it was the whole thing.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
I just didn't like when you try to play monkey
business and you try to stack the deck and all that.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
I'm just I'm not I'm not do nothing.
Speaker 7 (36:41):
They were on the bus when they found out mind
their own business. Wow, I can't control who got the
bat phone. I don't know who picks up and caused
the commission like in Batman, I don't know who had
the red phone. Rob Okay, I'm just on the bus,
mind of my own business, got my play. Let's go
and focus on the next match.
Speaker 5 (36:56):
I didn't know.
Speaker 7 (36:57):
The president said do me a silent and asked for
to get on there. Okay, what you want for me.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
I'm one of the players, Alex, I just want one
question for you. Yes, how many shots on goal? Does
the United States.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
Breaking news from the studios? We just had one one
on goal. It's not looking good.
Speaker 7 (37:18):
Okay, okay, Lexi, Yes, you're looking at the glass half full.
Speaker 5 (37:22):
Okay, you say we only down one and we only
had one shot.
Speaker 9 (37:28):
I do like the way you're saying that, because Belgium
has had literally everything they've wanted in more in this game.
USA has looked like the little brother who has had
kind of the lucky draw to come to the tournament here,
and this is, unfortunately what it looks like every time
we play a top It's.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
Not like it's not like you got a million goals,
So you say you only down on one. A lot
of games have one. Nothing, Yeah, before went home because nothing.
I mean like, don't make it like, oh, you're only
down by one.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
This is soccer. No, this is not the Tiger's pitching staff.
Speaker 7 (38:00):
What's the one goal is that? Is that a ten
points in football? American touchdown?
Speaker 5 (38:05):
What you said? It's not that.
Speaker 9 (38:06):
It's like, think of it as like baseball at home run.
It's not easy to hit home runs all the time.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Exactly. That's a good way of looking at it.
Speaker 5 (38:11):
Wait, year, No, no, what year?
Speaker 1 (38:14):
Like, no, June, he's not talking about juice regular bas
regular juice balls.
Speaker 5 (38:18):
Rob.
Speaker 7 (38:19):
You know about six seven years you murdose juice ball
them things were flying out the fire. You had dudes
who normally hit eighteen to twenty five hitting forty, everybody
hitting them.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
Not that White Sox twenty two point game that they
just had too or whatever. It was twenty three, twenty three.
Geez No, I'll just say that the Cubs had scored
twenty three runs.
Speaker 9 (38:36):
I'll say this, that's more than the Bears. Yeah, as
somebody watching soccer and has watched this team play, this
looks like a different team in so many ways. They
already almost said dude, they had an almost early goal.
In the first two minutes of the game, they scored
back to back goals and almost looked like it was paperwalking.
The guy has two goals on us, and he literally
scored a header between three defenders.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
I don't know what we're doing.
Speaker 9 (38:57):
We've had the possession of the ball maybe two minutes
of this first half, and the only reason we have
a goal is because we got one free kick. And
that was even a miracle shot that he did because
it was reflected off somebody's head. So, in all honesty, like,
if we play the same way this goes, it could
end up four one. So it's it's not looking good.
They better make some changes.
Speaker 5 (39:15):
You promised me round to eight of round of eight.
Speaker 9 (39:18):
I did promise you, But I can't promise that poliitical
be giving up the ball every time he has it.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
I will tell him, man, Alex, just tell him you're
not a miracle worker.
Speaker 5 (39:26):
I wish I was.
Speaker 7 (39:27):
All right, Well, we'll continue to keep you updated on
the second half of this matchup.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
Oh yeah, what an exciting match. I guess I'm riveted
by this. I just can't take my eyes. Waffles on
Rob tomorrow morning at the waffle house well, how about we.
Speaker 5 (39:41):
Make a chicken and waffles. When I dad one hundred wigs.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
You was, oh, yeah, we're supposed to make that happen.
You said last week. Yeah, next week,
