There you go. Not six. Thank you, LeBron. Not seven.
No matter how you listen in. I really believe it.
I really believe it.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Fox Sports Radio. FoxSportsRadio.com. The iHeartRadio app. Sirius XM Channel 83.

Speaker 5 (01:04):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
And now....

Speaker 6 (01:08):
Live!

Speaker 2 (01:09):
We'll do it live! On YouTube. F * * * it.
Do it live! I'll write it and we'll do it live!

Speaker 6 (01:14):
Do it!

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Thank you, Bill. Say my name. Rob Parker. It's been
a while. Say it again. Rob Parker. Say his name.
Calvin Washington.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Say it like three more times. What do you mean
it's been a while? We ain't seen you since May.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Rob Parker.

Speaker 6 (01:27):
Rob Parker.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
I'm here. I'm here. I almost didn't know how to
get here. I was trying to figure out how to drive...
I didn't even see the sign anymore. I thought I
was lost.

Speaker 7 (01:35):
I know.

Speaker 6 (01:35):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
You too.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
We are indeed the Odd Couple on a Magic City Monday.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
And you'll need our phone number because we are, without question,
the most listener-friendly national sports talk radio show on the planet.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Ben Mauer.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
At least when people are still awake. Sorry about that, Ben.
I know he just had a big thing in Vegas
and all that, man.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
His people show up for him. They do.

Speaker 6 (02:06):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Challenge accepted. Odd mob. You know what? Where we at?
And they were awake, too.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
Crazy.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
During the luncheon or whatever they had. Well, you know,
he gave them some... Something to keep up. Very nice. Ben, awesome.
Odd mob. We got to do something. We got to
put something together. Yeah, with no doubt about it. All right,
write it down.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Committed to memory, 877-99 on Fox. For you laymen out there,
that's 877-996-6369. It's not trigonometry. That's right, if you can't
figure out the letters and numbers. And guess what? If
you hear feedback on the line when you do call it,
it's your own fault. It means only one thing.

Speaker 7 (02:39):
You forgot to turn down the radio.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
And if you call in here and have a problem
with what we say, tough because... Well, I'm talking to
you the way I want to talk to you. You
have a problem, turn off your station. And with all
that said, always remember... The.

Speaker 6 (02:56):
Odd Couple was filmed in front of a live audience.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
We all back. The gang is back. Sorda Rob G
is kind of all right. Yeah. Let's go. Big show.
Let me welcome in my co-host. He is Calvin Washington.
Got to say, first off, good to see you back.
Everybody back. Happy belated, belated, belated, belated, belated to everybody.
And bump all y'all. Happy anniversary to my wife. Happy anniversary.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Eight.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
18 years. What you mean? I know, Alex, right? What
you mean our marriage can vote? What you mean out
here in these streets? How many years were you before
you got married? Five or six. Oh, my God. Yeah,
we've been together a grip, bro. Lord have mercy. Hey, hey, hey, hey.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Hey, hey.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Can I get some, like, wow? I said congratulations. No, no,
your face didn't say it. Your face said, that couldn't
be me. That's what your face said. You're talking about, like, 24,
25 years you've been. Wow, that's a long time.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
You're not that old. You're only 40-something. Hold on, hold on.
You know what I'm saying, right? You've been together since, what,
you were in high school? Not that early, but yes.
That's a long time. It has been a long time.
God bless you, man. I appreciate it. So happy birthday, Tony.
I mean, happy birthday. Happy anniversary, Tony. Listen, it's been birth...
Tony with an I. It's been birthdays.

Speaker 5 (04:12):
It's been.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Just want everybody to know so we don't have any
question marks here.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
That's how I know you back. Elijah, go on my page.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Find one of the hot pictures of my wife and
go ahead and put her on YouTube so they know
what's going on out here. As a matter of fact, don't.
Don't do that. Don't somebody going to screenshot it like Rob.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Let me see if I can still find one. No, actually, Elijah,
do the newest one, please. I got that one. The
one in the red. What you mean? How you know? No, no, no.
I would never.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
But anyway, happy anniversary to Tone. I'll see you in
a little bit. 18 years strong, so love her.

Speaker 6 (04:48):
Good.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Are you guys going anywhere? Did you do anything?

Speaker 1 (04:50):
No, I had to do Dodgers Saturday and Sunday, pre
and post for the Dodgers. Obviously, kids stuff today, getting
ready for school starting on Wednesday for my older two.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
So just, I got, we got some, we'll exchange gifts later. So,
you know.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Listen, when you 18 and some days it's like that.
You know, but we got something. We'll do something nice
at some point. How was your staycation?

Speaker 2 (05:14):
It was all good. Just got some rest. Head's clear. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (05:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
You know, so I'm feeling good. Everything is. Ain't no
streets in L.A. for you. No, no, no. Yeah, LA
ain't really got the streets for you. No, I'm not
doing all that. All right, it's all good.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
All right, let's welcome in the Odd Couple crew because
we wouldn't be able to do this fine radio program
without them.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Rob G is our producer. Blood Mexican is.
Is his throat cold? A little too much throat action lately. Yeah,
I guess so. Hey, yo. What? No, he's okay. He's
talking a lot. Yeah, he's talking a lot. He'll be
all right. The podcast. No, it's Big Doc Rivers action.

Speaker 5 (05:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Yeah. Yo, Blakey, Blakey, Chris, see her? We're doing that
right now. Blakey, Chris is big. Alex, we're going to
need you for some odd mob stuff or whatever. Got you.
Alex will just pinch hit. Got you. I don't know.
He might have got to do it. We've gone so long.
All right. Alex is our engineer. I'm so tan right now.
I'm behind the curtains. That's right. Hold on.

Speaker 7 (06:09):
Hold on.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
One more time. What happened to our button? Alex is
our engineer. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
And Alex, a happy belated birthday. I know you had
a good time and everything.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Great.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Shout out to the fam.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Awesome.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
I was at the beach for a week. That's great.
It's not too long for me, but I know you
love it. How about the sand? Did it get stuck anywhere?
You should see my cheeks. Okay, I'll pass.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
Why?

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Just tell us. No, they're rosy. They're rosy. Talk about
those cheeks. Okay. Steve DeShager's at the anchor desk. He'll
keep us updated throughout the program. Hey, Steve. And, of course,
Elijah is our social media guru. I can see him today.
That's right. Let's just... He's here.

Speaker 5 (06:49):
Oh, he is?

Speaker 2 (06:49):
He's right here. Not me not even knowing he's here.
All right. Last thing. Be sure to check out the
YouTube channel. That's right. You can watch us live. Just
search Odd Couple FSR on YouTube. Yep. Hit that subscribe button.
After you're done, tap in. Thumbs up. Icon. Comment away.
A lot of people have been complaining. Yes, I'm coming back.
My God. Where have you been? It's been too long.

(07:10):
I haven't been gone that long. No, I ain't gonna lie.
This summer was... You enjoyed it. It was.
You enjoyed the summer. That's all I'm gonna say.

Speaker 5 (07:17):
But.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
I'm locked in from now through February. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
There's no other way around it. I can't because I
don't take off during the year. You ain't got to
explain it. I'm just saying for people listening like why
I've been gone is because last year they threatened me
if I didn't take the days off.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
You're going to lose them. I was going to lose them.
So I had to take them, and we're all good. Here,
I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to be here through
the Super Bowl in Los Angeles, so we're good to
go there. All right? That's all I want to say.
And make sure you check us out. On our YouTube
channel and search Odd Couple FSR. Speaking of Super Bowl,
you think the Rams are winning the Super Bowl, huh?

Speaker 1 (07:57):
That's a good one, the way you phrased it that way.
The Rams are winning the Super Bowl. This is what
it looks like to 2021. So here's the Lions.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
So this is year four now. The Lions aren't going
to be. No, they're not going to be.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Let me tell you about a prediction I would love
to be wrong with. It would be this one. No, listen,
this reminds me of, obviously, let's just start with the headline.
Aaron Donald now back. And sooner than I thought. I
knew he was coming back at that point. I thought
he would be coming back... you know, around week four
or five or six or something. But he's right back.
He's already talked about he feels good and whatnot and

(08:31):
looks good. He said he looks sharper on his film
than he did when he left two years ago.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Okay, you believe that? Looks. I believe the look, how
he feels after getting some hits.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
I agree. We're going to have to see that first
real hit. But the big thing, I look at this Rams,
a couple of things. One, what I like about the Rams,
and the same things apply to certain teams in the NBA,
certain teams in MLB, certain teams, you know, or the
way certain people approach when it be Major League Soccer or,
of course, World Cup. People that go for it year in,
year out. People that are committed teams and organizations that

(09:03):
are trying to go and get it and win. and
we'll figure out the rest later. You know, first it
was blank them picks, and now it's use them picks,
and then it's go get free agents, and it's make
some trades. Whatever it takes to be competitive and have
a chance to win at a high level year in,
year out, and try to win the ultimate prize, whatever
your sport is.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
In this case, the Super Bowl for the Rams. I
love it.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
I love that they're all in, that they're committed. They
don't rest on their laurels that we already got one,
and we went to one, you know, eight years ago,
give or take, and No, they're trying to win and
win again and win again. And I think, especially the
sting of last year, where they felt they should have
been in the Super Bowl as opposed to Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Because Seahawks and Sam Donald had the best game of
his life against them. But before that, they lost to
the Hawks. The Falcons, I should say. That was the
one that... And you lose home. That was the biggest
game of the year. Well, I mean, I get your point,
but get in the NFC Championship. No, but if that
game was in L.A., they would have won. I believe that.
I really believe that. I agree.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
It was a bad loss. We talked about it then
in real time. It was one of those, that can't
be the loss. And it was for them. But getting
to Aaron Donald and where they are now, it reminds
me of the year they won the Super Bowl, right,
where they realized we're going out and we're getting, okay, OBJ,
you got the last little bit of juice.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Because I don't think he has any juice left for
the Giants. Last little bit of juice in him?

Speaker 5 (10:19):
Check.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
Come play with us. Von Miller, you've been going to
Hitman for hire? You want to come on over here?

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Check. What was the Ramsey? Jalen Ramsey, come on over here.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
Check.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
They were going over here and just getting people, mercenaries,
getting guys, whatever it took to build up that roster
and that team. This is what they're doing again. They
go get Miles Garrett?

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Got him. Aaron Donald, you coming back? Cool. Atwell, we
need his deep threat? Come on. Check. That's what we
need to DB. Go get McDuffie.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
And I love the way this organization, I love the
way McVay, they're going after a year in, year out.
And specifically Rob knowing Matthew Stafford only has, you know,
one to three years max could be this year to
last year. It could be two more, but they know
this is it. This is the range that they're in,
which is why they went and got Ty Simpson, prepare him.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
So when Matthew goes, we got another guy up and ready.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
So I just love the way they're running this thing,
trying to win every single year. Cause you say that
you do that a lot with like, So-and-so won. Well,
they're a made man.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
They're done. The Rams are saying, so what that we won?
We want to win again.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
And I love this approach, and it looks like that
same year in 2021 when they won it.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
I think that this will wind up being a disaster.
That's my gut feeling, and I'm talking about Aaron Donald. What,
a disaster? Yeah, yeah. Because I do believe.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
that it's hard to come back and be that player
that you think. And you go like, okay, they got
two of them. He's telling people he's better than when
he left and he feels great. He hasn't lost anything.
I just don't buy that. We saw Aaron Rodgers, who
didn't even retire, go for four snaps. Now we're not
sure if he's going to– to Australia or if he's

(11:55):
playing in the opener and all this.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
And it's just scary when you start to try to
restart your career, the chances of you being exactly that guy.
And if I'm an opponent, right, Miles Garrett is the
guy you're trying to defend.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
So it's going to fall on, right? Like, I got
to put the... put the juice on Myles Garrett, right?
He's the younger guy. He's in the prime of his career.
And it'll be interesting just to see how it plays
out and what happens.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Well, let me ask you, what's the disaster? Because you
said it's going to be, I don't know. They're not
going to win the Super Bowl. That's the disaster that
they went through all this. He came back.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
I still believe that there's a better chance that he's
going to wind up injured than he is holding a
Super Bowl trophy. I'm going to say it's 90-10 that
Aaron Donald will be injured throughout. I'm not wishing for it.
I'm not hoping for it. That is not my– I'm
just talking about from watching guys try to make a comeback,

(12:58):
try to get back out on the field. This is
a guy who out of his own mouth said that
he had no– for playing football anymore. And I don't know,
he wanted another $ 20 million payday or whatever it was.

Speaker 7 (13:12):
Jeez.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
So all of a sudden, what he said didn't mean anything.
Sitting on the couch and not playing. Just very seldom
do you do that. You saw with the Colts and
trying to bring back a 50-year-old quarterback with a popped belly.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Yeah. It just didn't work out. You know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (13:34):
And we've seen that. And you said to yourself, you
might have been better off not even going through that
whole process. So I'm not as high and mighty as
everybody is. We know on paper all the time. When
Micah Parsons, go back, went to the Packers. It might
not have been you. Everybody and their uncle picked him

(13:55):
to go to the Super Bowl. Everybody and their uncle. Oh,
my God.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
They just picked up Micah Parsons. Are you going to?

Speaker 6 (14:03):
What?

Speaker 2 (14:05):
What? Oh, my God. Michael got hurt? Oh, he got hurt, too.
I believe it's going to be really tough for this
to work out the way they think it will, especially
bringing back a guy who hadn't played. Has it been
four years or three years? This will be three years

(14:25):
that he was out since he retired. Three years.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Yeah, three years. But the only thing I was... The
expectations are.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
It's not like he's a quarterback and I have to
have the ball in my hands every single play offensively. Like,
they're going to only ask him to make... three plays,
two plays a game.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
You could play on every snap of the ball, you
could be injured.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
No, that's for sure. But why is that different than
him for Myles Garrett? Myles Garrett can get injured.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Sure he could, but I'm saying a guy who hadn't
played for three years has way more of a chance
of that happening to him, especially as you get older.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Sure Myles Garrett can get hurt. Ain't you though?

Speaker 1 (15:01):
I mean, I'd hear you if he was 42 trying
to make a comeback. Deion Sanders came back after three
years away.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
He ain't been out there. And remember, he was running
around in the secondary with the Ravens. Okay, who was
more physical? Which position is more physical?

Speaker 1 (15:15):
I would argue having to run around chasing receivers, play
after play after play.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
What's more physical? I don't think so. You're attacking, trying
to get to the quarterback? No, I'm saying physical, but
I'm saying I have to run and chase. You're trying
to get to the quarterback. You need your footing. You
need your steps. You need all of that. I'm just saying,
if you ask me, what's more likely to happen? Okay.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
The Rams winning the Super Bowl or this thing blowing
up in their face.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
And at some point during this.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
Season, Aaron Donald winds up injured, I'm going to take
the ladder.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
I'm going to take the ladder.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
The question I have is you have to be more
definitive what you mean injury. If he misses two to
three weeks, that happens every NFL season, even when he
was in his prime.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
He will be injured and they won't win the Super Bowl.
That's what I'm saying. So I got two things on
the table. They won't win the Super Bowl, and he'll
be injured along the way. Were they going to win
the Super Bowl prior to him?

Speaker 1 (16:16):
No. Because they already were favorites. They only added a
favorite to the favorites.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Okay. They added the cherry on top. I got both.
I'm just saying. I'm giving you both.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
That at some point, whether it's for the season or
for five games or at some point, he'll be injured,
and they won't win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
All right. 877-99 on Fox. 877-996-6369.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
Will Aaron Donald's return result in a Super.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Bowl for the Rams? Or are you with me?

Speaker 4 (16:48):
It's a good chance this is not going to end
the way people think the storybooks always end because they
don't always end that way. We'll continue that conversation. They
do end it that way sometimes, though. Some Elway, some
Jerome Bettises, some first Rams. It do be.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
Those guys, they retired for three years and came back? No,
I'm talking about the team is loaded. The team is loaded, though.
So they don't need them, is that what you're saying?
That's why I said it's a cherry on top. I
don't think you come back if they don't need them.
877-99 on Fox.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
877-996-6369.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
It is the Odd Couple.

Speaker 4 (17:24):
Rob Parker, Kelvin Washington here on a Magic City Monday show.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Right here on Fox Sports Radio. Stick and stay. Because
all the boys are finally back in the U.S.

Speaker 7 (17:36):
Of A.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
The boys are back in town.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
I would have thought you were Magic City'd out for
like six years the way you Magic City'd it.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Check it out. Connors football is back.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
And there's no better place to trade the action than
Cal Shee America's number one prediction market platform. Clemson is
trading at 25% to upset Louisiana State, meaning a $ 100
trade pays out over $ 395 with a win. LSU is
loaded with former NFL players, so the Tigers could have
their hands full in this one. But if they can
pull the upset, that could mean big money for you.

(18:08):
So on Cal Shee, you're trading against peers in a
live market. meaning there's no house, and as the probability changes,
you can buy in and out of your position, trade
the draft pick, the game, and more on CalSheet. Download
the CalSheet app. Use code ODD to get $ 20 when
you trade $ 20.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
That's code ODD.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
To get $ 20 when you trade $ 20.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Kalshi. K-A-L-S-H-I. Kalshi. Trade on anything.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington. Weekdays at 7 p.m. Eastern,
4 p.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
I couple Rob Kelvin on a Magic City Monday. Adam
Kaplan coming up in about five minutes or so. Shekel City.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
We got.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Dust that thing off coming up as well. By the way,
truck and bus drivers are trained professionals, but the bigger
the vehicle, the bigger the blind spots.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
Don't linger.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Pass with purpose or give the vehicle space. Stay visible.
Stay safe. America's pros rely on you. Paid for by FMCSA.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
Rams!

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Locked in now?

Speaker 1 (19:51):
Is it their Super Bowls to lose? Maybe you ain't
buying it? You think Aaron Donald will have a productive
season or nah? Let's take some calls, Rob.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Dave in Kentucky. You're on the Odd Couple Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Dave? Hey, it's Jay. Oh, what up, Jay?
What's up?

Speaker 7 (20:05):
But yeah, I agree, Rob. I don't see how he
could just come back, take two years off, come back,
and just pick right back up where he left off. And,
in fact, I think that they have a lot of
young talent on that D-line that it's going to hurt
their development because they're going to be losing snaps. But also,

(20:26):
when has something like this ever worked? That's what I've
been thinking is, has anybody ever come back?

Speaker 1 (20:33):
Yes, Rob Gronkowski. Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Tom Brady
never retired? No, I'm saying them going to Bucks, him
going to get Rob Gronkowski, it worked.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
No, but Tom Brady didn't retire.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
I'm saying when they went to the Bucks, he got
Rob to come out of retirement. I don't know if
he's still on the phone or not, but.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Yeah, I mean, that, you know.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
And I think with this, too, with the work, it's
like he doesn't have to have 15, 20 sacks, which,
by the way, again, you talk about getting crazy money to.
what he has to do, he doesn't have to be that.
That's Miles Garrett. That's your job to be that guy.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
Drew in New Jersey. You're on the Odd Couple Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Drew? Drew going to be with you. Hey, guys.

Speaker 5 (21:14):
I'm going to get that be over on week one
on Saks Total because I think they have the advantage
for the Rams because they don't know if he is washed,
and you don't know whether to double Miles Garrett and
leave Saks aaron donald.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
I'm doubling i'm doubling miles garrett i don't care what
you say that's what you're.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
A double miles garrett but what if i want to
wait until air i want to have to see let
me once he once he gets he's gonna get a
sack in game one i don't.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Know i don't know if he's playing they said.

Speaker 5 (21:46):
He's not he might not even play he plays if
he's in the starting lineup he's good enough to start
i don't you bet would you bet the over on
one Well.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
You have to make it a half. Make it a half.
You make it a half, I'm taking it over. 0.5. Yeah,
I'm taking it. I'm giving it over. I'm going to.

Speaker 5 (22:00):
Take the over because he's going to get single coverage
because they don't know how good he is right now.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
I agree with you that they are going to be
a wait and see. You got to see him out
there first to see what happens. He can do what
he can't do, and then you can kind of go
from there.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
But Miles Garrett, I don't need to see anything. Did
you see it when they put the videos of him
in high school? I don't need to see it.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Utterly ridiculous. I thought you was growing when you were
in high school. I thought you looked like at least 32.
Miles Garrett looked like he looked today. Let's go to
Kevin in Culver City.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
You're on the Odd Couple Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
What's up, Kev? How are you? God is good.

Speaker 5 (22:39):
All the time. Hey, Rob, here's one factor here.

Speaker 7 (22:44):
The reason he did this, it's about the double team.
AD hated being double teamed when he was playing.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
All great players are double teamed. So the idea, as
great as he was, right, and he was a great player,
he was double teamed. All right, Jerry Rice was double teamed.
Randy Moss was double teamed. All the greatest players who
ever played the game, Lawrence Taylor, Yeah. What a double team.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
When they got Garrett, it made it even more attainable
for him to come back and play because now he
knows he's getting one-on-one.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Garrett's getting a double team. And you can't block Aaron
Donald one-on-one. Well, that was the way three years ago.
We'll see. We'll see. And it's been done before. Marshawn Lynch,
you had Jason Peters.

Speaker 5 (23:31):
And one factor that you're missing about the Rams.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
They got Dijon Love. He's going to be.

Speaker 5 (23:38):
The receiver that just signed with the Rams.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
So they got Dijon Love. And like my girl says
in the Bay, hey, all those little boys.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
In San Francisco in the Bay, look, if you don't settle,
he's going to get you an NFL player.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
You got to play some Young Miami.

Speaker 5 (23:52):
Today during the show.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Man, I can already see the documentary is going to
be crazy. Why not?

Speaker 4 (23:57):
Somebody should sign him up and do it. But it's just,
you know what, that whole story? Tells you about how
desperate women are. And I'm just going to put it
out there. I'm dead serious.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Like the whole idea that that guy could play that
role and people buy in.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
And then he's a... pro wide receiver. But he needs
money from you. But he needs money from you.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Time out. Right? He needs money from you. Is that
what we're doing?

Speaker 1 (24:23):
Did you hear the girl who told the opposite story?
She was the one who didn't fall for it?

Speaker 2 (24:27):
It's hilarious. But I'm just saying, does that make sense
to you? Yeah, 26 women. Anybody can say anything.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
I know I'm making millions, but I need you. But
I need you to give me $ 10, 000. Just whatever it is.
I need $ 10, 000 just to hold on to. You're going
to miss out on this investment, baby. Invest in me.
It's worth it. Not even worth it, Alex. Worth it.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Worth it. Adam Kaplan on the other side. Maybe we'll
ask him about that as well. Right now, he is
Steve Bissinger.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington. Weekdays at 7 p.m. Eastern,
4 p.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Steve, thank you. Odd Couple.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Rob Parker, Kelvin, Washington. The gang is back on a
Magic City Monday. Join now.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
It's funny, though, real quick.

Speaker 5 (25:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Of course, Aaron Donald is not practicing today.

Speaker 4 (25:18):
He was all right to sign that pen for $ 20 million,
but he ain't practicing today.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
This is what I'm talking about right here. Here we go.
Let's get to it.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
Adam.

Speaker 6 (25:26):
What's up, guys?

Speaker 2 (25:27):
How you doing? You already know me and Rob getting
into it. First day back. I can hear that. You
already know.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
I told Adam he had a little reprieve from you.
What day was that? I don't know, Wednesday or Thursday. Yeah,
it was last week.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
Adam, it wasn't fun. I wasn't there. What? It wasn't fun.
You know that. I know.

Speaker 6 (25:44):
Nobody to push back. It's just not the same.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
You know, I'm an acquired taste.

Speaker 6 (25:49):
You know, good to talk to Mike Hill, though. That
was cool. Mike and I were at ESPN together maybe
a year, but I didn't know him. He was in
the news division. But there's nothing like having Rob back.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
Thank you, buddy. We appreciate that. All I'm saying is, Adam, is.
I got a 90-10 that the Rams will not win
the Super Bowl and Aaron Donald will wind up being
hurt at some point during this season.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
And to use his own words, he said it will
be a disaster.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
Yes, that they don't win because they think that they
should win. Just like last year, they thought they had
the better team and they lost that game in Atlanta
and then they switched from being a home game to
a road game and they lose to Seattle.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
I got a 90-10 that they do not win.

Speaker 6 (26:35):
They're the clear favorite. They should be by the odds makers.
There's no doubt. They reshaped their secondary. They knew they
had problems there, Rob, on their defense. The Garrett trade,
getting Donald back out of retirement as he played three years.
By the way, I know where Rob's going here. Who
knows how well he can play?

Speaker 2 (26:53):
We don't know. That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (26:54):
We don't know. I know that Aaron's been very open
about his trainer thinks he's done well. He's been incredible.
And that's great. He hasn't forgotten how to play football,
but this is a different deal. This is a different deal.
They spent a lot of money in free agency, extreme
amount of money at cornerback.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
They're going for it.

Speaker 6 (27:15):
And by the way, when you look at Les Snead,
their general manager, he's one of the best in the
National Football League. Super aggressive. They're going for it. I
know that the Rams fans have been sort of transient.
They don't have the greatest fan support. It's not like
they don't sell out, but if you look at Social
media and how popular they are. They're not one of

(27:37):
the true national teams historically, but because of the expectations,
it's different from how they're being viewed now. They're being
viewed not only by the oddsmakers, but by the networks.
Everybody wants a piece because the expectations are sky, Rob.
That doesn't mean they're going.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
To be, though. Just like when Micah Parsons showed up
in Green Bay. What would he expect? No, no, no.
But what was he expecting? Well, it was late. Now,
it was late. No, but everybody was like, oh, no,
they're going to the Super Bowl. I don't know if
it was that big. It wasn't like the Rams. They
were this big before Aaron Donald.

Speaker 6 (28:12):
Calvin, you're absolutely right. This is super huge. Honestly, Rob, guys.
Anything less than a Super Bowl is going to be
a disappointment if everybody's healthy.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
It has to be. Well, stay there for a minute.
I was saying this to Rob. One of the things
that I appreciate, and it's kind of the dirty secret,
you know this, not all organizations are really, really trying
to win. They're happy, hey, every year I make 10%
increase in profit.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
I'm doing good.

Speaker 6 (28:35):
We're good. See Jerry Jones. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (28:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
So some organization in sport, you name the sport, you
name the league. And I like that, as you mentioned,
the Rams go for it. Whether it was blanking picks,
whether it's now use those picks and make trades, every
year they're trying to win it. And as a fan
of a team, I would love that. Like, I love
that the Lions are at least competitive now.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
They're trying.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
Because there are years when some organizations are like, hey,
the check's cash regardless.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
We made a couple bucks. But everybody can't win. Like,
your whole idea that– and this is where I'll push back–
Just everybody can't make every free agent move. Everybody can't win.
So it doesn't mean that they don't.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
You know, like they're like trying not to win. It's
like the reality of it is sometimes you have a
young quarterback. Sometimes your defense isn't there yet. There's a
lot of reasonings why you can't win.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
But those aren't reasons what I will be referring to.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
But everybody can't do what the Rams do.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
But everybody can't do that.

Speaker 6 (29:36):
But, Rob, Kelvin makes a good point, if I'm reading
him right. It starts with ownership, the willingness to spend cash.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
There you go.

Speaker 4 (29:46):
Adam, the New York Mets have spent more money than
anybody over the last 20.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
It doesn't mean you win.

Speaker 6 (29:52):
No, but you have to have the willingness to do it.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
They have an owner who just spent $ 765 million on
Juan Soto. No, no, no. You make the.

Speaker 6 (30:02):
Bad roster decisions if you spend your money poorly.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
But my point is he's tried to win. They still
haven't won since 1986. They haven't won.

Speaker 6 (30:12):
I hear you, but it's also relative to who's making
the decisions. We just mentioned Leslie.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
If they don't win, all right, the Rams, okay, they
gave it the old college try. They went and spent everything.

Speaker 6 (30:21):
It'll be a failure.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
It'll be a failure. Absolutely.

Speaker 4 (30:23):
Just like the Dodgers came within the ninth place hitter
hitting a home run in the top of the ninth
to tie the game in Toronto. That was going to
be a billion-dollar bust.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
They wound up winning. They wound up winning. But it
wasn't as easy as people think it is. That's all
I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
No, but I guess you're missing, totally missing my point.
All I'm saying is you've been covering this league for
40 years. Adam's been covering however long.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
39, 40, and a half.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
And my point is you know that there are organizations
that are not out there competing to win.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
They're competing.

Speaker 6 (30:54):
The Bengals, Kelvin, the Bengals for years, and this is
why they finally gave in to spending on defense, Dexter Lawrence. Now,
on Rob's point, it doesn't guarantee you, but you have
to have the willingness to do it.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
And if.

Speaker 6 (31:09):
You're liking baseball, and Rob, you know this being a
baseball guy, the teams that don't win historically, you look
at their payroll. It doesn't guarantee you're going to win.
But if you're not willing to spend money, look at
the A's, look at the Marlins, look at the Reds.
Teams that continually don't spend money.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
What do they do?

Speaker 6 (31:30):
They don't win and then they trade all their best players.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
100% is hard. The Dallas Cowboys have more money than anybody.

Speaker 6 (31:36):
They haven't won in 30 years.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
But they have a lot of money.

Speaker 4 (31:41):
And they gave Jack Prescott $ 60 million and they still
haven't won. All I'm saying is, I understand the idea.
about spending money, but I don't think that because somebody
spends a ridiculous amount of money or doesn't care about
the future.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
We're not saying it guarantees anything.

Speaker 6 (31:59):
I'm with Kelvin, though.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
Rob, I understand.

Speaker 6 (32:03):
You have to have the willingness to do it when
you need to do it. And that's what Les Snead
and when he had to get... You just don't... By
the way, just so you know how it works, ownership
has to be involved. They have to okay the cash spend.
And It's not like Aaron Donald at $ 20 million for
the season. It's their cash budget. You have to ask

(32:25):
for the money. They tell you. They said it. But
when you're bringing in Miles Garrett, then you're going to
need more money. And then Aaron Donald. Stan Kroenke's like, hey,
we're going to do this. And that's the way it works.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
All right. Let me ask you. I do want to
ask you quickly. OBJ, does he have anything left in
the tank?

Speaker 6 (32:43):
He does. I was with the Giants a couple weeks ago.
And I talked to someone with the team. And They
were like, look, he's actually healthy, and we'll see what happens.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
See, that's another guy I can't count on. I think
he can. I think he was healthy. I think he's
going to be hurt at some point. He's been hurt
the last few years.

Speaker 6 (33:00):
He's been hurt for years.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Not few, years. Yeah, I'm just saying.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
I just cannot see. I think the Giants feel like
it's old home week. You've got to be careful.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
He'll play a limited amount of snaps. Neighbors is back
from the ACL. He looks good. I know they're very
excited about Malachi Fields, their third round out of Notre Dame.
They brought in Darnell Mooney, Darius Slayton's back. still there,
who came in with Daniel Jones, but he still could run.
John Harbaugh's completely transformed the way they do business.

Speaker 4 (33:27):
I still think that's a bad organization. I think John
Harbaugh's on the downside. He was terrible with the Ravens.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
Terrible.

Speaker 6 (33:35):
By the way, that's like an ESPN 30 for 30, really,
what went down?

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (33:40):
There's a lot on what you said. There's a lot
that went on there that I think we would need
to explain, at least in a segment next week.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
One last thing. And the last thing. The Jets look
terrible again. Are they going to be bad?

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Do they have any hope there? What's going on?

Speaker 6 (33:55):
My good buddy, Kerry Rhodes, he keeps getting this being
the team that no one's talking about. It was going
to surprise. Their talent level is way better, but the
problem is the quarterback. I'm telling you that the Raiders,
if they couldn't trade him to the Jets or anyone else,
it would have cut Gino Smith.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
Right.

Speaker 6 (34:12):
Kate Kluvenick won the backup job. They only have another
quarterback on the roster. They've got some good young talent.
They're in a total rebuild. They'll be a five or
six win team. They're not making the playoffs. They're not
going to be the worst of first team. That's not happening.
The Saints are my team, though, to shot. A lot
of people.

Speaker 7 (34:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (34:30):
I've run that name and roster around a lot of
people I respect and people nod their head. The Tyler Shuck,
who's an older quarterback for a second year guy. He's
extremely talented. Their team, remember, the team that won that
division last year had a losing record. The Panthers at 8-9.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
Crazy. All right. All right. Adam, appreciate you, man. We'll
be talking to you, my man. Oh, yeah. This was
a good one.

Speaker 6 (34:53):
I'll talk to you guys next week.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
No doubt. Thank you.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Adam Kaplan there. Kaplan NFL. Give him a follow. Sheckle
City on the way. See what Rob cooked up. It
is the iCouple on a Magic City Monday. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington. Weekdays at 7 p.m. Eastern,
4 p.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
Hey, Fox Sports Radio. The Odd Couple, Rob, Kelvin, we're back.
The gang is all here. Alex, Rob G., Steve DeSegar.
Thank you to Adam Kaplan for joining us. Fox Sports
Radio NFL Insider. We'll have him throughout the season.

Speaker 4 (35:31):
I'm going to stand by my record from last year. Alex,
you remember my NFL picks and my record?

Speaker 2 (35:36):
On fire. I'm going to stick by that. Stand by it.
Here we go. I'm already stepping out there. When people
told me last year... Yeah, but I'm going to be
honest with you. When people told me last year about
the Lions and about the Chiefs, I'm just saying. People
thought I was crazy. Yeah, but.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
That one had a little bit more conviction in it
than this one. This one, I don't believe.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
I got you. I said that they're not going to
win it. They're not going to win the Super Bowl.
I mean, that's, yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
But you also add the extra sauce with Aaron Donald.
You start picking. You're like, Matthew Stafford going to do
32 interceptions. I was right about eight games. I was
right about Jared Goff.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
I don't remember. That was six years ago. Right on
the money. I don't remember that. Kelvin said, why I
got to be so extreme? Let's go. We got to check.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
You the one going down memory lane?

Speaker 2 (36:19):
Let's go. Let me go down my memory lane. Told
you about Sam Darnold. Didn't I tell you? Been telling
you for years about him and J.J. McCarthy. Let's get
to Sheckle City.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
Welcome to Sheckle City, the home base for Rob Parker's
daily picks against the Sprat.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
All right, a little Sheckle City.

Speaker 4 (36:42):
Last time we were together, I was 1-1. That brought
the record to 202-185. And I've got orders from Elijah
that at the start of the new season, Football season,
we will turn over and reset.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Okay. It's funny. Elijah's laughing at me right now. It's
funny because he's laughing. Elijah said this is it, Rob.
You have no say in this. You know we're on YouTube, right?
This is the way we do the social stuff. They
can see your face. You don't even believe yourself. Look
at your face. Look at the camera. Elijah, we had
a conversation earlier today. It was a monologue. You told him.
Whatever he says, I'm going with. Elijah runs this. I

(37:21):
just work here.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Because after all this, you done went 700 games. How
you 500? All right, here we go. Tonight, Twins minus
one and a half.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
Best bet.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
They're taking on the Tigers in Minneapolis. I got the
Yankees minus one and a half. They're taking on the Angels,
who can't win a game. My God. And Anaheim tonight.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
On the West Coast. Wow, Robby picked the Yankees.

Speaker 6 (37:42):
Crazy.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
I know. Shocking, right? They did win 16-1 yesterday. Proud
of you. But they might get shut out today, right?

Speaker 7 (37:48):
Yeah, it might be.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
You know how it goes.

Speaker 5 (37:49):
I know.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
I was a little nervous about that.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
You know how it goes. And I got the Brewers
minus one and a half. They're in Chicago taking on
the Cubs. So we got the Yankees minus one and
a half, the Brewers minus one and a half, and
the Twins minus one and a half.

Speaker 2 (38:01):
And remember.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
I'm not telling you who to bet on.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
I'm a fun guy.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
I'm telling you who I bet on. Hey, we got
a little bit of time here. What did Michael Caden did?
What he done did?

Speaker 2 (38:12):
No, no, no. This story is bigger than this. We
might have to do it tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (38:16):
But the announcer for the Red Sox didn't like that
Jazz Chisholm had stolen two bases. So it was weird.
The Yankees were up by six runs, 7-1 in the
eighth inning. He's on first base. They're not holding him on.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
Okay, what should you do if you're not being held on?
Go for it. Right? You go to second base. They're
not holding you on. You get a running jump. Go.
Especially him.

Speaker 4 (38:44):
So when he first got on the base, 7-1, Aaron
Boone told him, don't go nowhere. Then Aaron Boone looked
and said, they're not holding you on.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
Go.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Go to second. Steal third.

Speaker 4 (38:57):
So the announcer on the radio was mad, calls him
Bush League, all this stuff, right? Not even knowing that
it's coming from the manager telling him what to do.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
That's number one.

Speaker 4 (39:07):
Number two, the Red Sox made it like it wasn't
a big deal, but when he got to third base,
they played the infield in.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
So if the run is important, why weren't you... Why now?
Why would you wait? You could have held.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
Him on first base if you didn't want to give
up that extra run, okay? So there was the other one.
And the guy said that they should hit... Austin Wells
who was up to bat, that they should hit him
and start a fight with Jazz Chisholm. Like, this is
a radio play-by-play announcer spewing violence against the Yankees.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
Because they stole two bases. Rob G, say that. We
might have to get back to that tomorrow. We might
have to get to that. Maybe even later. I don't know.
I want to hear what Kay said. I bet it
was good.

Speaker 7 (39:46):
I'm mad.
