(00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. All yeah, it is
The Odd Couple. I am Chris Brussard alongside my partner

(00:46):
Rob Parker, and we're coming to you live from the
Geicoe Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could save you
fifteen percent or more on your car insurance. Visit Geico
dot com for a free quote. How are you doing,
mister Parker, I'm doing just great. Uh, no complaints my end.
I don't have anybody ripping me for a change. It's

(01:08):
good to see you get ripped. Is he ripping me? Yeah?
Is that a rip? It's a people people said. He
clapped back at me a couple of days ago, and
I was like, dude, that was tame, no, no no.
But still the due publicly he did, he did a
magic Johnson. You know he didn't go that right, but
I'm saying gone, public. He could have just DMed you
or he being Kevin Durant. You don't have his number, right,

(01:33):
you know. Let me see we've never talked, you've never
talked before. Let me see you from I just completely
went on the air, made up a five minute story
about all the things KD and I. It's incredible, I
mean even it was great acting that somebody would even
think that, Uh, with your background as a newspaper reporter
and your integrity, that you would just make up a

(01:54):
story that could easily be checked or you know what
I'm saying. It ain't like especially with somebody that you
and we'll go back at you, and how would you
say that you've had a conversation with somebody that you
that you did And I just don't even understand how
that could be. You wouldn't. You wouldn't do that, not
on natural television. You might. You might be able to
say that to your buddy, like trying to make somebody
feel good or impressed, you know what I mean, like

(02:15):
that personally, but you wouldn't do that now publicly. And
you know what I'm saying, like like it's more app
for somebody to do that on a one on one
but to go on national television and do that doesn't
make any right. Well, let's introduce the crew and then
I will give an explanation to that, because we wouldn't
be able to do this fine radio program without them.

(02:37):
Rob g of course, our producer, Alex engineer Chris on
the ones and twos, of course, continues to train my
former student from usc UH. He's here. Ralph Irvin is
our sports update anchor, so he'll keep us updated throughout
the program. Jonah Intern and Yes Elijah, our social media guru.

(02:59):
They're all on the other side of the glass. Chris
Boussard on this Wednesday worship, you can't worship wins out?
How many times on this worship do I ever forget
magic City Monday? No, because you want to go, I'm
gonna start calling it Monday. That's the name of the day, Monday,
my magic city Monday. Until you stop start saying worship wins.

(03:20):
All on the other side of the glass on this
worship Wednesday. Come on, Chris Boussard, let's kick some see
be a nice because it's worship. Well, let's do it
all right. First, let's get to the situation with Kevin
Durant I talked about on Friday, just for a recap
for everybody, how with Jonas Knox was filling in for you,

(03:40):
how Kd's worst nightmares come in the past, because this
narrative that has followed him for the past few years,
even as he's been tremendous as a basketball player, has
been that he went to the best team in the league,
a team that didn't need him anyway, and people feel
like his rings are a little cheapened, you know, I

(04:04):
mean that's not me only or me period. That's Walt
Frazier came out and said there's a mental asterisk by
KD and how great he is in those rings, and
you know, several players around me and this Canra was
on our show said among most players, that's how dudes feel,
at least some no doubt, right right, So, uh, that

(04:25):
was what we talked about Friday. That went out on
social media, and Kadi, Yeah, I don't even call it
a clapback, but he just tweeted out something to the
effect of, really, buddy, that's the worst thing that could happen,
you know, playing it the literal car, right understand, And
of course it's not the worst thing that the death

(04:45):
and the family and and you know, some type of
crime that you are victimized by or whatever. And even
on the court a career in the injury. There are
a lot of worse things that can happen. But it's
a figure of speech, you understand, people understand what I
was meaning. And then today I explained on Undisputed what happened,

(05:06):
and I talked about you know, they asked me about
that clap back if you will, and I talked about
my relationship with k D to give some background and
how he's gone at me before privately a lot of time,
not all the time. A few times when I say
something raw that he doesn't like, he would hit me
on d MS, Direct Messaging, Instagram or Twitter. I don't

(05:30):
he thought God used that for females, so I'm wrong. Well,
he was sneaking in my DMS, right, I'm just saying,
you're sneaking up in the brothers DMS. And we would
then have a text conversation, uh and some I look
back at him today and we had three conversations within

(05:51):
the last year that lasted over five hours. You know,
not We're not texting for five hours raight continual conversation
and I remember, I remember what I was doing and
those days, you know why. It took all but five hours,
and we discussed a lot of things, uh, lifestyle, Uh,

(06:15):
just life in general, media coverage and things like that.
Basketball and faith. Yeah, and we do share common faith
in Jesus Christ, and that would enable like he came
at me hard a couple of times because he didn't
like what I said on TV, but as we talked
things out, our common faith would enable us to come

(06:35):
to an understanding. Even if we disagreed with each other,
we agreed to disagree or you know, it was an understanding.
It was cordial, it was cool. Um. And so that's
what I said on television today and KD responded. We
put that out on social media, of course, and he
responded with cap cap cap cap cap, young guys, Can

(06:57):
y'all help me? That means lying a Yeah. I wasn't
sure what that meant, but I've took it like he
busting caps in my story, like shooting it down or
whatever it was. So I tweeked that and he said,
you don't have my number, man, and so I tweeted back.
So again he's playing the literal. You said, that you
didn't say that you I said texting, but it was

(07:19):
on the it was it was texting, but through Instagram
or Twitter, because it was on one somewhere. He's being
literal and so my thing. I tweeted back, Instagram, DMS, Twitter, DMS, texting,
it's all the same to me, it's all the same nowadays.

(07:42):
Don't even act like I'm lying, right, And what I
would point out is if you look at his tweets
both days, no denials. He didn't come out and say
we didn't talk, or we didn't text, we didn't communicate,
said you didn't have his number, right, And I do
actually have a no A number for him. It's an
old number. I'm sure you know these dudes change number

(08:04):
all the time, so I'm sure it's not updated. But
I do have a cell number for him that he
gave me at some point in time. So uh, that's
the real deal. That's the story. I Am not going
to be petty and put out screenshots of these deals.

(08:25):
It's petty number one number two. It would shoot down
not only k D. I would not disrespect him like that,
but it also would disrespect the other people that I
communicate with privately. I wouldn't. I wouldn't communicate with you.
You don't have to do that. No, Look, it's common sense.

(08:45):
Like you said, why in the world would I go
and make up a story like that on national television.
It doesn't make sense. And again, believe in deny that
we haven't talked. All the people that I heard from
today all said the same thing. There's no way Chris
would make up a story like that, everybody, because it

(09:08):
doesn't make sense. Even if you're that type of person,
it's dangerous and it makes no sense. We'll put that
out there, right because then if you if they would
have find out, you would be your career would be
a jeopardy. Right if you made up that you're talking
to KD and you've never had a conversation with and
not only right right, not only from a lack of

(09:29):
credibility standpoint, but the network No and rightly. So if
that's one would be like, did you actually go on
our air and just tell a bull faced lie? You
would hear from Don and Scott two, Yeah, right here
and rightly so no, no, rightly, so you can't do that.
And let me say this about Kevin Durant. I I

(09:49):
still now he questioned my credibility. I don't like that. Okay,
I am a credible reporter. When I've made mistakes or
been wrong, I I've admitted it, all right, so I'm
a credible report. I don't like him questioning my credibility.
That saved me and I make a mistake, I'm gonna
admit it as well. That said, I am not I am.

(10:15):
I do not dislike KD. I do not hate KD.
If he DM me or hit me again, we would
talk it out. I see him, I love to talk
it out. We should get him on the show. I
loved I hit him on the DM A lot of times.
You don't respond, But I don't hit him when you
want him on the shop if him on the show.
But I the players, I get it because I always

(10:37):
try to put myself in another person's shoes. And I
understand our job, Rob and Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharp
and Stephen they spent like all our jobs. We critique athletes.
That's what we're positive or negative. We're analysts, and sometimes
a guy might not like it. And I get it.
If I was in their shoes and a guy was

(10:58):
saying stuff about me that I didn't like, and he
comes up to me and shaking my hand up. I
could get why they might be mad because a lot
of them don't understand the intricacies of our job, no journalism,
you know. They think, so it's gonna be right, or
we're here for a team, right. I keep telling these guys, dude,

(11:19):
you guys, winning and losing doesn't affect me. I hate
to break it to you. Yeah, but you work for
the New York paper, the Detroit paper. You shouldn't be
ripping the Lions. They still the team. You got that
team right, right? I mean, what do you want me
to tell you? And so I I have still have
no problem with Kevin Durant. I still respect him and

(11:40):
hope the best for him as a person and as
a player. And uh so it's it's all good. That's
that's the deal. That's the story. And you know, Rod, Look,
we've been in this business for what one hundred and
four years combined over you over thirty I'm close to
thirty or something like that. Um, this comes with the territory.
We know. We've had run ins with athletes before, had them. Yeah,

(12:04):
it happens, and again they ever right to get it
off their chest. But let's move on and be adults
about this, no doubt about it. And when you see him,
you don't run from people like I used to be
at all time. I would go to write a bad column,
you know, a tough column on somebody, show up the
next day. I'm not gonna get in your face and
go did you read what I wrote? What what you right? No?

(12:28):
But I would make myself available so if he wanted
to step to me, he could say something, do you know?
And I remember once doing that. I wrote a really
tough column about Sparky anders in the late grade, manager
of the Tigers, and I showed up the next day
and Tony Phillips was at the battencage and he was like,
he turned around, he saw me. He goes, you got

(12:48):
some big ones to show up here today, He said,
after what you did the skip in the paper? And
I was like, he could, but I respect it. He goes,
you know what I mean? I respect it? He said.
I don't know if I with what you wrote, but
I respect that you are here and you do it
comes with a Sparky want to rip on me? I
would stand you. Did you know Sparky saw me? But

(13:09):
he didn't say. He never say no, we just let
it go. No, it happens. I have run ins to
find Marburry, Mike for Tello and I at one point
we talked it out, you know, and when he was coach,
when he was coaching the Cavaliers and I was the
beat writer. This is back in the mid nineties, first beat. Yeah, bizarre,
but it was you know, we we you talk it out.

(13:31):
It wasn't because of it. It was about to do
is that? I don't know. It ain't about he was
wearing it slick back. I think it's hard to remember
you acting like that's not a piece, is it? He
looks good for a seventy ish or whatever. He is
mighty Mike tizarre. But anyway, that's the deal. And uh,

(13:54):
we're gonna give you guys a chance to weigh in.
What do you think it's Chris Broussaw the law as basically,
what do you think about Kevin Durant's Twitter clapback? And
do you think I'm lying? U? That is your turn
away In eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine ninety six sixty three sixty nine, we

(14:14):
will continue the conversation with you next, it is the
Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brusar and
Rob Parker week days at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
At Farmers Insurance, we know every windshield collision has a
unique sound beatle bird boop drone, seen it covered it

(14:38):
Doctor Farmers. We are farmers under written. My Farmers took
fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable in every state.
It's the I Couple of Chris Bruce Ar Rob park
on this worship Wednesday. Heymen, and we need faith in
here today. We need put to what you've been. Come
on up, say pray Christ real quick. We're good, Were good?

(14:59):
Were good? Come on, We're good? All right, all right,
let's do it. You're turning the way in eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox about my I'm not even
gonna call it of him, Twitter battle, Twitter beef. I
don't have any beef for him, not at all. Twitter exchange.
How about that. Let's go to Sean and Sacramento. Sean,

(15:20):
you're on with the Eye Couple. What's happening, hey man?
First of all, thank god your son KD on the
internet like that. Man, You did it in the most
classiest way possible. You gave him facts. And on top
of that, he was responding to something that's a fact.
I mean, there are players out here talking about their
asterisk next to his title, one of them playing on
his own team, you know what I mean? So how

(15:40):
is he even mad about in the first place? And
then my other point is, man, there's gotta be level
to this KD. You know, we're here getting on fans
for saying stuff like, oh, we did it without KD,
not even making like any kind of scather re marks
towards him, And then you're getting on analysts for doing
their jobs like he needs to be focused about getting
back from this CAF injury before he proves all the
doubters without him. But Sean, this is why I call

(16:04):
uh KD the missoul the most sensitive of all time,
because he would be clapsed back at guys uh in
their mom's basement with twenty five followers, you know what
I mean? You know, and all that stuff, I don't
even get it. Man, what life is he living? He
should be the happiest guy in the world, Man, I
don't know if he's still with Taylor Rooks. I mean,
I mean, I just want, Yeah, I'm sorry. You're like

(16:30):
this great basketball player, you make a lot of money,
you have, you have a beautiful girlfriend, and you're worried
about what Christmas saw it said on television. Well, look,
he obviously has a right to clap back or get
on social media all he wants. I just wonder does
he lead to his unhappiness because he obviously can still
play ball with all these voices in his head. No,

(16:52):
I mean we saw that, right, That's what I asked.
What I wanted. Let's let's go to Tony in Seattle.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's
happening in tone? Hey, how you guys doing love show?
Thank you. I don't think it's a fact of believe
in um. I think I don't think anyone can dispute
Chris your credibility in this. I think for Kad it's

(17:14):
like everybody says every I'm a big Katie fan, so
I might be a little No, that's cool, that's cool though, right.
But my thing is, my thing is is that all
he hears, all he hears is the double standard from
the media in this point. In this sense, to me,
no one everybody's talking about, Okay, it's an asteroid. Why

(17:38):
everybody acts like Katie with running into Golden State when
it was the other way around. But we don't talk
about Lebron with the with the heat as being an
asterids because boy Tony, I don't know when you say
nobody talks about that's not true. I know I have
said now I've said, in principle what Kad didn't. This

(18:02):
is why I didn't kill him when he went there,
because in principle it is very similar to what Lebron
did going to Minament. Now he won, right, Kads was
I don't want to say worse, like it was a
bad thing, but yeah, Kadi went to a better team,
a team that had already won the championship. But in
principle they both went to stack teams right in that regard,

(18:22):
and I think Lebron obviously called Heat for it. But
the reason I didn't kill KD at the time was
because I said, look, just like with Lebron James, when
Katie wins these championships, maybe he's the MVP of the finals.
Everybody's gonna praise him, and that's exactly what happened to
Lebron and it's what happened to KD. It's only now

(18:44):
that they are playing without him that it looked that
people are questioning it now and saying, wow, they may
not even need to go ahead, Tone if you want
to respond to that. Though, even if we look at
it now, hey, we all know what Portland is was
it was really about how great Golden stated or is
it really how about how the gap between Golden State

(19:05):
even without KD. They were ready to Portland, they weren't
ready for Well it look Tony, I'll give you the
It remains to be seen if if you know, Golden
State may go out and lose in the finals and
then the whole narrative change. Rob and I have said,
if they win the finals without KD, look his rings

(19:25):
or his rings and they're legit because he was great
and he wanted to diminishes them a little. But if
and if they lose without KD, it elevates his ring,
it will elevate and people will say it is about
him and not about stuff. Max and Georgia, you're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Max,
what's up, fellas. I just wanted to call in and
give Chris some praise. You know, Rob's my guy. Agree

(19:47):
with Rob, Yes, my man, surprised you admit that publicly. Max,
give you a shout out because you're hearing yourself. Well,
I will say this, I'm not surprised, but it's always
nice to see consistently professionalism, the way you handle yourself,
the way you stay mature. You sit back and let
things go. You don't just overly react to the moment.

(20:08):
And uh, Katie, you know, the one thing I don't
get about him is is if he's leaving anyways, why
does this bother him? Why is he so in his feeling?
People want to write the story. You know, if you're leaving,
you're leaving, and if anything, that can just make the
exit that much smoother, right people, and that much greater
if you go somewhere else in win. Hey, Max, that
was a nice Yeah, thank you. I appreciate that. Man.

(20:31):
Go to Jared in Australia, all right, we love getting
the costs man, Jared, what's happening? What's happening? Boys? Hey Jared?
Just one thing, do y'all still have MCI there in
Australia are not what is it that used to be
that used to be a little business company, that's all.

(20:53):
I'm in my mid twenties. Wow, okay, I didn't know
you were that young. So much. What's happening man? All right? Rob, Chris,
I'm sending you some faith from down under. Um. Look,
you know you're very credible. I mean I used I
used to be a part of a Facebook page and
you know we used to debate basketball and I used
your your points and your facts used to win me

(21:15):
a lot of it the blood of debates. So I
know that I know that what you're saying is credible. Well,
at least at least they worked for you, too bad
that didn't work for Chris on the radio. That's it.
But Rob, Rob, you summed it up good the other
day when you said about your story about the news
editor when Katie response all the negativity but he never
responsed anything positive. That people say, I said, you summed

(21:37):
it up perfectly. Appreciate it. Thanks, ali Ja. We appreciate that. Man.
Let's go to Marty in Kentucky, Marty One with Chris
and Rob. How's it going, Fello? What's up party? Man? Man? No,
Chris sorities, my man, and I will never even start
to even consider that your credibility could question through this.

(22:03):
It's worse Wednesday, by the way, happy worse one. Yes, Yes,
we've been through this before with Kde and uh St
stephen A. Smith, And I know you look at both
people's history and decide for yourself as critical and who
you know. And I don't think you've even basked a guy.
I really, I agree we're talking about you were talking

(22:25):
about perception and he cares about perception and you use
a you know, you used a phrase worst nightmare, which
is you know you didn't really mean speech. But man,
I'm all with you. You know, I'm just Marty for
Kentucky and I ain't I ain't important, but you know
you always have I always have your back, all right,

(22:46):
my man. We always appreciate your call. Mary, Thank you, brother.
All right, the nick should be very worried about the
Clippers in their chase for Kevin Durant this summer. Frank
Iola from the Athletic will explain next, but first let's
get to our man, Ralph Irvin for the latest in sports. Ralph,
you got it right, Chris, well, thank you very much, guys,
and of course came here here flexing on no yesterday,

(23:10):
no come on now? Oh good? Maybe a little no
NBA tonight, as Game five of the NBA Eastern Conference
Finals will be on a Thursday. But Michigan has a
new head basketball coach and they bring in one of
their own. That's Juwan Howard, headed back to ann Arbor
with a five year contract. This is his first head
coaching job on any level Major League Baseball. There are

(23:33):
six games going on right now. Washington already with a
home run from Adam Eaton. They lead at New York
against the Mets one nothing. They're in the first and
everything else in the second. Any of the Yankees in
Baltimore scoreless. Boston and Toronto also scoreless. Detroit kits an
RBI single from Nico Goodram. They lead Miami one nothing
in the second. Colorado a three nothing lead at Pittsburgh.

(23:55):
That game is still in the first inning, and the
Yankees and Tampa Bay scoreless. They are in the second.
Senior check engine light coming on can be stressful. The
autos one Fixed Finder service will help you troubleshoot the
problem for free. See store for restrictions in details. The
NFL announced the twenty one NFL Draft will be held
in Cleveland twenty twenty two, while that will be in

(24:17):
Kansas City, Missouri. Now we'll be back to Chris and
robbing ten seconds. But first word from Farmers at Farmers Insurance.
We know a roof can withstand a lot, one exception
being an airborne car. Seen it, covered it, doctor, Farmers.
We are farmers underwritten my Farmers Truck Fire Insurance exchanges
and affiliates products unavailable in every state. An actual night

(24:39):
off from the NBA, but still plenty to talk about.
So let's send it back to Chris Brussard, Rob Parker
and Frank is Soolo. Thank you, Ralph. It is the
Eye couple coming to you live from the Geico Fox
Sports Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent or
more on your car insurers with Geico. Go to Geico
dot com or call eight hundred nine Fourth Auto. The

(24:59):
only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
Our next guests, we're both friends a time way way back.
He and I covered excuse me, covered the knicks together
almost twenty years ago. I mean he covered them long
before I joined. I've known Frank since the early days
at the Daily News. I started in eighty six, so

(25:21):
I said I would know Frank around eighty eight or
eighty nine. We'll have to ask him exactly, but we
know what. We both know him for a long time. Yes,
he is a writer for the Athletic, one of their
NBA writers. He also the host of the Starting Lineup
weekday morning, seven to ten am Eastern Time on Sirius
XM NBA Radio. Let's welcome in, Frank, I solo, Frank,
what's happening? What's up? Buddy? We got the legend of

(25:44):
Essex County and the legend of Queen how about that? Hey, Frank?
How far will we go? Back? Right then? When did
you start? I think? I think I was just a
young punk at the New York Post back in the
late eighties, so I was probably feeling it. I think
a lot of times like we would overlap. You were
covering the nets, and I would be like either a
high school game right at the Meadowlands or a college game,

(26:06):
and you guys were covering the craziness of the nets.
And I eventually end up covering the nets, which was
which was fun. I did it back in the days
when like Derek was on the team and Kenny Anderson. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
no doubt about dude saying it right there when he
said it. But and uh, and I was there when
uh richardson what's the shining? I was, I did those nets.

(26:30):
But how does if if Lebron was gonna sue Nick
Saban for the shop? Right? Remember like the idea of
stealing that concept? Didn't you come up with the cop
didn't you and Eddie Murphy come up with the concept first?
You guys be getting something. Hey, I had to show

(26:51):
one in Detroit almost ten years ago called shop Talk
in the barber shop, so that I always felt that
was funny that he thought that he should you would have.
But it's all good. All we've brought that up. We've
brought that up on the radio show Mean and Scalabrini
last year. We had a lot of fun when that
the whole thing came out. I mentioned your name. I said,
it's Rob Parker, just like ten years ago, No doubt

(27:13):
about it. Well, Frank, you know, all year long we've
been hearing I know you've been talking to people around
the league. I've been talking to people around the league.
We're all hearing that CAD's going to the Knicks and
some people saying it's a done deal. These latest reports
about the Clippers, you know happened in the middle shot
and maybe the Brooklyn Nets, and he hasn't decided, Like

(27:35):
what do you make of this stuff? Yeah, you know
so many people have said it you almost wanted if
Kevin Durant and his agent Rich Kleiman or maybe getting
a little worried and they don't want and they want
to make it see him like, well, listen, there's no
tampering that's going on. But then again you talk to
people who know Kevin Durant and they say, listen, he
changes his mind all the time. Maybe now that it's
getting a little closer to it possibly happening, maybe he's having,

(27:57):
you know, second thoughts about the Knicks because here's the
out of mind. They've had the worst wreck in the
league the last eighteen years. You know, he would be
joining even that Lesten for him, he's gonna do the
smart thing if he comes to the Knicks, unlike Lebron,
He's going to make sure that somebody else is joining
him there. But it's still a team that wins seventeen
and sixty five, and you see what happened with Lebron.
Lebron has had a different place in his career than
the rest of the Lakers. So Lebron is like throw

(28:19):
away a year this season in LA. And if you're
Kevin Durant, you have to be careful about doing It's
not that the Knicks aren't trying to do the right thing,
but look at their roster and look where Kevin Durant
is and is that really the right timeline for him? Yeah,
that that is the thing. But how about a few
the Knicks say he is coming, Frank and he's coming,
and maybe Kyrie's coming as well. Would you try to

(28:43):
trade that pick to New Orleans to maybe get Anthony
Davis and get him in there as well, Because I'm
I'm figuring if you sign in those two guys, the
windows small and you're looking for somebody to help you now,
not a kid developing. Yeah. See, that's why it's funny
with Knicks have done. The Knicks have talked about rebuilding.
But if the Knicks were to get Kevin Duran and

(29:04):
Kyrie Irvan, I think Rob exactly what you said they
would try to do, you might as well go all
in there, you have to go out. And that's the thing.
Remember this about the Eastern Conference. You know, you don't
know what's going to happen with the Celtics. If I mean,
I would think if they don't get Anthony Davis, Kyrie
Irving's not staying There's also will still be a good
team because Danny Ainge knows what he's doing. But you
don't know what's going to happen up in Toronto. You
could have Kawhi leaving. You know, Philadelphia is kind of

(29:27):
they're a good team, but you don't know what's gonna
happen with them in free agency. Then they have Milwaukee.
So if you're the Knicks and you can get Kevin
Durant and Kyrie Irvin, how do you not take a
run and Anthony Davis? Because the East could change rather quickly.
Think about how quickly it changed with Lebrown leave and
all of a sudden it was open season for everybody.
Now we have Milwaukee and Toronto and with a chance
to possibly make the playoffs. I frank, the Knicks also

(29:49):
have those picks from Dallas, don't they that they could
throw to New Orleans as well. Exactly exactly so you
know they could offer, they could offer a lot. The
big thing would be for Davy Griffin. You know, did
the Knicks have enough? Is probably the third team he
had the third overall pick, Mitchell Robinson. Remember this too
about David Griffin. David Griffin was set to become then

(30:11):
external manager, and as he was debating whether or not
to do it, the Knicks went out and signed Tim
Hardaway Junior to an offer. Shoot, there's a couple of
years ago David Griffins had well hang on a second
and then he was told, well, this is this how
it's gonna work. It's gonna be kind of you and
Steve Mills running it together. And then David Griffin ended
up backing out. Now could that impact it, I don't know.

(30:31):
I still think that David Griffin smarter. You have to
make the best deal that you can for your best player.
I still think Boston and the Lakers, because of the
experienced players that they have on that team, could probably
provide a better package. Frank, you're there in New York.
We've all covered you know, teams in New York. We
know how why the gap is between the Knicks and
the Nets. You remember when Jason Kidd was with the Nets.

(30:54):
I mean they were great, but nobody really cared if
Kad and Kyrie say went to the Nets instead of
the Knicks. Do you think they could? Really can't? I
know it'll always be a Knickstown, but could they capture
the city for at least that period of time and
really it'd be a huge story there. I think they can.

(31:16):
I think I think the Clippers what they did this year,
you see the way that they changed things. Right, It's
still going to be a Laker town in LA, but
the Clippers were able to make some inroads, especially with
Doc Rivers Jerry West there and being a playoff team.
It's never going to be the Knicks, but come on,
if they went out and they got uh, you know,
Kevin Durant and Kyrie River Una in Brooklyn, everyone there,
you know, thinks they invented basketball. I was born there,

(31:38):
Michael Jordan was born there. What more do you need?
And that's basketball royalty right there. So I agree with
what you're saying. That's it's never gonna be. It's always
gonna be a Knickstown. But I definitely think you get
played two players of that caliber the next went Remember Chris,
the Nets went for a few years ago, but I
always felt like, did they watch the playoff series again?

(32:00):
The Knicks that Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnette had, they
were clearly no longer superstars, and they paid superstar prices
to get those guys, and it basically affected the organization
for five years. That to me was different. They were
going for big names. You get Carrie Irving, Kevin during
not only getting big names, you were getting big time
players in the prime of their career. Frank, I'll give
you this on an example of why it could happen

(32:23):
and it might not be, Chris, And your point is
well taken. Not for a long time, but for a stretch.
If you remember, Frank, in the eighties late eighties with
the Mets, they owned the back pages with Doc and
Darrel and those teams over the Yankees, even though New
York is a Yankee town mostly right, So it can
happen if you have the right players where the Nets

(32:44):
would be back page if they had those guys. So
I also think Frank, like around then in New York
the gap is huge, but around the country, if the
Nets are really good, I mean, I think people would
embrace them. You know, around the country, the Knicks aren't
viewed like they are in New York, you know, not
as this legit, legendary Francise Chris, You're you're one hundred

(33:05):
percent right. I mean, you know, the Nick fan thinks
that they had the greatest seventeen and sixty five season,
and like they want all the players, all the guys
that were rookies to make the old rookie team ties.
You won seventeen games. It's like, it's a it's amazing
to think that. I always go back to the Knicks.
One's fired Don Nelson. He was thirty four and twenty five.

(33:27):
That's how insane the standard was way back when. But
to your point, I think now with everything kind of
being national and like you know obviously where you guys
are working, the athletic ESPN, all these teams, But did
you ever think that Oklahoma City could become a big
gap about how big they were when Kevin Durant and
Westbrook and there's still a big deal because of Westbrook
and that's the smallest market in the NBA. Do you

(33:49):
think and we got about a minute left, there's all
the talk can Kevin Durant handled New York. We see
how sensitive he is. I'm going back and forth with
him on Twitter now. But he and Kyrie, for that matter,
how do you think they would react to the New
York media. Yeah, and let me just say this in
your defense, as if Chris Brusard has nothing better to
do to make up a story, fact that he's having

(34:09):
a conversation. When I make up a story, believe me
when I tell you it's gonna be a doozy. That's
the best. I'm going to include Cardi B Hey me
and Beyonce did tell you about that? All? Okay? Yeah,
that she'll be in there. As if Chris brue shark,
the better I have you back on that. You know

(34:31):
what I would say this, I think it's changed, you
know how it is, Chris, It's just a lot of us.
I don't think the media really is as hard anymore
as like it used to be. I just think it's
a different time now. If he does crazy stuff like
Twitter going after people would fake accounts, that could kind
of blow up. I think he would be smart to
talk to a guy like Carmelo, because I thought Carmelo

(34:51):
for the most part, handle things really well. But you know,
how it works. He's eventually gonna be judged. You come
to New York, they want to know if you want.
They don't care about building your business that part. Just
like fans in La don't care about Lebron's into a
million movies. They're looking at your winning a title. So
if you come to New York, concentrate on winning. They
don't care about your business portfolio. Frank Man, great stuff.
It is good. We're gonna be having you on and

(35:12):
regularly now. We're looking forward to it. Man, I'm looking
forward to you guys. Kip up the good work. One

couple Chris Brussard and Rob Parker on this worship Wednesday,
and we're gonna stick with the NBA. Of course, it

(35:56):
is all the rage at this time of the season,
and some interesting news came out today. So here's how
things have worked for the playoffs. The first round the
ratings were down down big, second round the ratings were
up twenty percent over last year, which was great. And
the third round the Eastern Eastern Conference Finals at least,

(36:18):
the ratings for the East are down forty eight percent
from last season, and they are calling it the Lebron effect,
of the lack of Lebron effect. I don't, I don't.
That's here from our our buddy, Roy Parker, who was
sticking out his chest. What are wiping the dust off
his shoulders last week? That wasn't dust. Here's his microwave.

(36:41):
Here's his microwave take on the playoffs without Lebron time
to reach that cool metal. It's microwave take with the
oncover of I'm gonna predict that the ratings will actually
be up in the post season without Lebron. I think
that people have had enough Lebron. This is gonna be refreshing.

(37:05):
It's gonna be different. Stop I'm not. I'm telling you
this is gonna be You're trying to make a hot tape.
I'm the stunt believe that. I believe NBA is better
off that Lebron James is not in the playoffs. Really
saying that, after all the after eight years of going
to the straight years to the finals, this is gonna
be good, Chris, for the NBA. And I was getting

(37:30):
I was feeling for Robbers. We were just listening to it.
What are you talking about, missively? Stop it, Mercy. I'm
gonna First of all, I was right because the second
round was off. One round the playoff. And here's the
other part. This is where I'm gonna give the NBA
a break. And Chris, if you do some research and
dig and not being so surfacing when it comes to
a story to write away shame for the eight percent down,

(37:53):
No Lebron. The region the rating story is down as
they are. It's because one of the two teams playing
in the Eastern Conference for their ratings don't count. Canada
doesn't count. That's why it's down that huge. It has
nothing to do with with Lebron. Yes, and they don't count.
And the way who the Lebron the fact, No, it's

(38:15):
north of the border. Their ratings do not count, and
so you can't have a team. You know, the biggest
boots come from the city where you have teams playing,
so for them, not that counter the numbers from Toronto
hurts the ratings. That's why it's down bigger. Has nothing
to do with Lebron stopping with the Lebron overkill. That's

(38:35):
what you call journalism. That is a good point. I
give you that. Can you give me that. I don't
know if it's true. I know it's true. I know
it's true that the Toronto ratings don't count, don't count Canada.
If it's true, No, they don't count. That would impact
the ratings. No, that dis much like maybe they'd only
be down twenty percent, right, that's what I'm saying. Okay,
so they're still down though, but not forty eight right,

(38:56):
But that ain't know Lebron, but they're still twenty percent
in the Lebron fact. But not only that, but it's Milwaukee.
I mean, let's lets be honest. You you should have
taken that into account when you started running your mouth. No,
but I didn't know it would be Milwaukee. I didn't
know it would be a small town like that. I
know you thought it would be Brooklyn. You know that.
I didn't say that. You said Brooklyn was gonna beat Philadelphia.

(39:19):
I thought I thought it would be Boston in Philadelphia.
That would be two bigger markets in the United States.
And I guarantee you the ratings wouldn't be forty eight
percent down. I guarantee you that. So now you're just
really killing yourself. You're really digging yourself a home. No,
not only were you wrong about the Lebron prediction, wasn't
wrong about about who was gonna reach the Eastern Conference finals.

(39:39):
Not on one hand, but on both. No, man, I
caught you in the line, just like you reprimanded Magic
Johnson yesterday when we call him in the line. You
have been with the Toronto Raptors all season long. I'm
not Don't tell me you thought Boston and Philly were
gonna be Eastern Conference You thought Toronto was going to
the But I didn't know that Toronto. I didn't realize

(40:02):
that the ratings would be suffered because of Toronto. But
you did. You didn't you know for years? I'm gonna
d m k D right now on your outpurst. Every
time you act up, I'm gonna just l k D.
That's a good one. I give you that one. But
but you you I caught you just like magic guy.
You ain't like man. You did? You knew? Don't tell

(40:25):
me you just found out. Oh I just realized the
Toronto ratings don't count. But that's a big that's a
big factor. That's a factor. So maybe they'd be down
twenty five percent. But speaking of which, what y'all think
about Drake? Did you see Drake yesterday? He was going buzzerk?
What do we what? I tell you? They don't know
how to act up? There no Drake And he's such
a fan boy it's almost embarrassing. Well he is. Did

(40:48):
he have owners some ownership? They have a little? I
think he has some sort of bit piece. Not a lot,
but maybe a uh. He's definitely an ambassador for the team.
He's an maybe honorary owners. He gave the head coach
of Nick Nurse a massage at one point. It was hilarious.

(41:10):
But you gotta cut that out. The NBA can't let
that go on, all right. I couple of Fox Sports

a Kevin Durant heavy day. We led off the show
talking about my little Twitter squabble exchange with him, and

(41:56):
we're going to continue on the KD topic, but this
time look at where he should go if he leaves
Golden State. And he's leaving Golden State, there's no very
little question about that. I say, no questions. No, he's not. Yeah,
we should bring that up. Joe Blac, my owner, said
that we have definitely. He says, we love Clay direct quote.

(42:19):
We love Clay and k D and intend to attempt
to resign them period. I am confident about both of them,
but it is their choice to do what is best
for them right. Not being lukewarm or anything or he's
just saying, hey, we're gonna make every effort and whatever
they say in the right thing. I mean, obviously they
are going to try to bring him both back, but
I definitely don't think k D is staying. I'm with you. Uh.

(42:43):
Mark Stein from the New York Times has reported your
old place. Yes, he has reported that the Clippers have
just as much of a shot to get k D
as the Knicks. And then there's one more I don't believe, Well,
we're gonna get We're gonna give it your chance. There's
one little news item I want to get to. Kadie's agent,

(43:04):
Rich Kleiman has said that kad was talking to the
Wall Street Journal said k D is one hundred percent
undecided on where he's gonna play next year. Don't believe
that he said that's the truth. I think there's a
feeling that this thing is like war games. Everybody's playing
chess out here, and he goes on and on. But
basically he said, kad does not know where he's going.

(43:26):
So what is your take, Rod Parker, I hear the
story to me is that they have as much of
a chance. Isn't some revelation like because I think everybody
believes that it's the Knicks, or we've heard at least,
and to throw another team in the mix, and a
couple of teams as free agent c starts. It's just

(43:50):
natural that that it's not the done deal that people
are making it out to be. But I told you
I have some CWP apps were pretty close to the Knicks, right,
and they really believe they have. Yeah. Yeah, and that's
what I've heard all along. No change. I don't believe.
And this is me. I don't believe the Clippers are
getting two max guys. I don't I believe they'll get one.

(44:12):
And I believe Kawhi Leonard is number one because because
you have to pick up that phone come that day,
right right? Who call him? You got? You got? Well? Yeah,
although you can have no guys, but you know what

(44:33):
I'm saying. No, but holdly you couldn't. You could have
and you might say, okay, who you picking to make
the call? Because you can have Jerry West? Nah? You
call KD and Doc Rivers called Kawhi? Nah? Why not?
Because Jerry If Jerry West is the uh man behind
this whole thing, well he's I want wanted the only

(44:54):
guy I want to hear from. I want to hear
from the guy who's doing the guy who was who's
recruiting me. And it's usually one guy you're gonna get
a call form. But the head coach is, especially a
head coach like Doc Rivers. I mean, that's not you're
not gonna sneeze at that. I'm just I'm not. I
just think that. And look, let's let's just keep it real.
It's all all this is gonna be worked out before June.

(45:16):
But I don't think it's what you call I just
don't see. This is my gud. I don't see the
Clippers getting two stars. I tend to agree with that, don't.
Here's what I look for the sake of the NBA,
maybe maybe some of my own selfish reasons. I think
for some excitement, I would love to see Kevin Durant

(45:38):
and Kyrie Irving both go to the Knicks. And as
you said, I was talking to somebody today fairly close
to this situation, and they said that it's pretty much done.
I mean, you you always have to leave room for
a guy to change his mind. But this people are
very confident that they're getting KD and Kyrie. But I
think the best. If k D and Kawi went to

(46:04):
the Clippers, that's a great move for him, for k D, rob,
I mean, why not? Like I've heard that those two
don't want to play together for some reason, not that
they don't like each other, but the narrative of one
of them joining the other or whatever, maybe who's gonna
be one who's gonna be one? A obviously with Kyrie,

(46:27):
you know KD is the man and Kyrie's number two.
But the other part is why not. I mean the
Clippers that very well run. The Knicks have gotten things together,
but the ownership isn't as good. You got James Dolan,
Verst Steve Bob. But but the front office, those guys
with Scott Perry and Fritzdale, you know they they've done
a great job. And k D doesn't have a relationship

(46:49):
with us Scott Perry Seattle when they drafted him, so
they do have still have a good relationship. And here's
the other thing. The Clips could go from yes they
got money, what a great run, blah blah blah blah blah,
to not getting anybody. Well they that's they're getting somebody.

(47:10):
I'm just saying I'd be shocked if they didn't get anything,
Kawai does what I think he's gonna do, which is
beat Milwaukee and get to the finals. I'm not getting
I'm not so sure that it's automatic that he's going
to the Clippers. I'm just saying, if Kawhi does and
pulls off the impossible, what what didn't look like was
gonna win championship? Yes, and goes and wins a championship. Yes,

(47:34):
I'm just saying, imagine if that happens, or or they
losing seven games or something. Just say something like that too.
Difference in THEIA, I got it. But I'm just saying,
if he beats Milwaukee and they get to the finals
with that squad, I don't know if it's automatic. I
think I think the toughest scenario under which for Kawahi
to leave Toronto would not be if they win it all,

(47:57):
which I don't think they can win it all. But
if they want it all and Kawhi Leonard obviously led
the ways the finals MVP, he could do whatever the
heck he went, get that and nobody could say a
darn thing. But he also he would have two n
two NBA Championships, two finals MVPs, probably would be being

(48:17):
called the best player in the world. He could go
anywhere and nobody could say anything. I think he would
go to the Clippers and Toronto even couldn't get mad
at him. One year you delivered. What are we gonna say?
But you talk about this all the time the work.
He might he might just be like, I'm happy here. Wow,

(48:37):
this's just better than I ever thought. I Like, I'm
just saying I like, maybe the TV ratings don't count,
you know, but but i'be as cold outside. Maybe the
cold outside, but maybe, but but I like it. Toronto.
You've been there. It's a great international, it's a great city.
It's a great city, the great city. And here's but
here's the scenario I think would be where maybe you

(48:59):
would be right right if they If Toronto goes to
the finals and loses to Golden Stay in a nail biter,
a tough six or a really seven game series, and
they are this close to win it at all, that
would be tough to leave because then people would look

(49:22):
at you like, do you want to win? Right? Like
you're this close? You could own the Eastern Conference, especially
with some of the moves going on and what happens.
You don't know what's gonna happen in Philadelphia, Boston, you
don't know. There's all kinds of stuff that could happen
where where. With the team you have right, you could
rule a rush in the East. So I think that

(49:43):
would be the toughest scenario for him to leave. But
I think with KD. Look, I still despite these you
know reports today and yesterday, I still believe k D
is going to New York, but I believe it is
tied to another player like k D should not to

(50:04):
go to New York alone. And we had Frank Eyesola
from The Athletic, long time New York writer covered the
Knicks for more than twenty years, k D by himself
in New York, they wouldn't win. Frank said that in
New York and we know this from covering the team too,
it's about winning. They would get a honeymoon period because

(50:26):
they'd be so glad that k D and whoever as
would be relevant and they would be good. But at
some point, second year or third year, whatever, it would
be about winning. Can you get us to the championship?
Can you make us a contender? And Kade by himself
as great as he is that would he have trouble

(50:49):
doing that? And you got so I think it's tied
to Kyrie Irving. So I was talking to an ex
player to actually an ex teammate of Kyrie's today who
said they need to look seriously at Kimba Walker because
Kyrie's just we saw it. He's very moody and he's
a different type of guy, and Kimba is like everybody

(51:13):
loves Kimba and love being around him, and Kyrie's better,
but it's not like a huge chasm between the two.
I still would take Kyrie. Kyrie's more injury prone too,
It's all right, but I still would take him. Eye
I would too because KD gonna be as sexy as
k D and Kyrie. But Kimba's never played in a

(51:34):
big game. I mean, you're trying to win a championship. Yeah,
I agree, but he's he's shown the clutch tendencies. You're right,
we don't know because we haven't seen, but he's shown
clutch tender Yeah. I'm not saying he can't do it,
but I'm just saying, if I'm trying to win a
championship and I got a four year window, just roughly,
I'm trying to take a guy. Yeah, my first choice

(51:54):
was Kyrie. I agree with you, all right, that's all him.
He is better. He is buddies with KD. I'm not
saying that Kimba, but I think they're just some some
things Kimba would have over him, like one being a durability.
You remember that TV show Kimba the White Line. Do
you remember that? I don't know, I don't, okay, Little
it sounds like a cartoon. It was. It sounds like
a cartoon that was recent. No, no, no, it was

(52:16):
wasn't when you were a kid. They didn't have cartoons
called Kimba the White Line. Yes, Kimba, Kimber the White Line.
That sounds like a black or African name. No, but
they had cartoons they used in the sixth Yes they
did it. What Rob g what was it? Come on, Rob,
you get on, Rob. What was nineteen sixty five to

(52:36):
nineteen sixty seven? Kimba the White Lion, Kimber the White Lion,
Japanese mangas here he was Japanese. Okay, all right, so well,
just all the same old I shouldn't know. You're the
sitcom kid, all right, But remember The other thing with
the Knicks is Anthony Davis is in the mix. Oh,

(52:58):
I believe that. I mean it did ending on how
much David Griffin, the GM for the Pelicans, likes RJ. Barrett.
If he really likes RJ. Barrett, if he thinks RJ.
Barrett is a future star, a surefire star, then why
in the world would you not want to pair him
with Zion Williamson. I totally agree. I think it would

(53:18):
be crazy not to entertain that you're trying to rebuild
what you have two guys, same young You're gonna have
him for what five or six years or five years
most guys do sign up, but the contract so that
would be roughly seven maybe, So you have you have
six seven years of these two young guys. You could
build something together. And then, like I said, the Knicks

(53:41):
have those picks from Dallas, so there would be more
picks coming. They might have to get a third team
involved just for one really you know, good player that's
ready now they could offer. I'd hate to give up
Mitchell Robinson if I'm the Knicks, But if I'm New Orleans,
that's a guy want but shot, blocker, athletic. But if
I could get a D to go with those other
two guys get up and you can. They're gonna get

(54:03):
DeAndre Jordan or keep DeAndre Jordan too, and he's a
friend of k D's as well, so and then they're
gonna recruit a bunch of shooters and that's all Phil
the roster with those guys. Yeah, I'd love to see
him in New York Man. But the Clippers is interesting
because I'm not saying that Clippers are don't have any shot.
I just I just think Kawhi is more realistic. And

(54:23):
I don't believe they're getting two stars. That that's I
don't think they will either. But because there's a lot
of teams with money out there, Yeah, no question. All right,
we all turned the way in where should Kevin Durant go?
This summer eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven,
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. We will continue

(54:46):
this conversation with you. Next is The I Couple of
Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar and Rob Parker week
days at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio at Farmer's insurance. We
know every windshield collision has a unique sound. Beetle bird, boop,

(55:07):
drone seen it covered it? Doctor, Farmers? Are farmers under written?
My farmers truck fire insurance exchanges that affiliates products unavailable
every state. You're listening to the Odd Couple Chris Brussard
and Rob Parker and on this worship wins that said it.
That was Fred Hammon. That was our celebrity corner last

(55:29):
Well you weren't here. That's a great celebrity court. Jon
has had some great questions too. What's questions? Yo? We
were like the Warriors without KD. You know we were rolling.
All right, Let's say, let's get to your calls. Where
should Katie go next year? Alex in Riverside, Welcome to
the Eye couple. What's up guy? Yes we can. What's up? Bud?

(55:53):
Hey man? I think that you go to the LA
Clippers man, and the reason why I think about legacy Man,
you go to LA, you go to the same video
Lebron James, you take them on. You're staying the same
division and conference at the Warriors, and you've forever become
the gateway at the Warriors to the finals. And you

(56:14):
cut that night saying the finals, it's my town nine's conference.
He can do that. If he could achieve all that.
But Alex, that would be great. I'll tell you, I'll
tell you where you're wrong. He's already beaten Lebron twice
in the NBA Finals, so he has that, and he's
going to a franchise that hasn't won since nineteen seventy three.

(56:37):
If you are if he goes to New York, if
you're Clippers have never won. If you if you're Yeah,
but you still would be bigger if you go to
New York and turnout around. That's all. I'm not saying.
They don't. You take Clippers would be big too. I
mean what he said is basically, Katie goes to the Clippers,
you beat Lebron, you take La away from them, away
from Yeah, but you're doing it right down the hall,

(56:58):
and you're doing it without the services of staff and
Clay and all those guys, and then you beat the Warriors. Now,
could he do all that? That's the question. But if
he could, yeah, it'd be great for his legacy. Let's
go to Matt in Indianapolis. Matt, you're on with Chris
and Rob, Hey, thanks a lot. Guys listen to the
show every night on the way home. Appreciate taking the
call man, Thank you Hey. So here's what I'm thinking.

(57:22):
Do you think it would be full filling it all
for a guy like Katie to come to a small
market team like the Pacers, who are always on the
press visit? It seems like get him beside a guy
like Victor Oladipo with a team that plays real team
ball under Nate McMillan, run the East and see what
they can do and make a run. I think the
problem there's a few problems with that. One, he already
was in that type of city in Oklahoma City. And

(57:45):
two you mentioned right a lot of nice players around him,
and Victor Oladipo is a star. But essentially he could
get that with the Clippers. Like if his attraction was
going to be who what's the best supporting cast of
role players around me? You can get the Clippers in

(58:05):
LA rather than the Pacers in Indianapolis. And I was
gonna say, Matt, you're gone, but how many times can
you go to Saint Almost for the shrimp cocktail? You
know they got the steak and shake down there too.
You know we've been happenses come up Naptown. They probably
still do, but the downtown, you know, I know they

(58:27):
got a Mallstown right from from your early days covering
the league, yes to you know later it got it
picked up DeVante in Kentucky. You're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's happened? Yes, I just wanted
to say that I think that the best place to
Kevin Durant to go, even though I highly doubt here
to do it, is the Houston Rockets. He asked me,

(58:50):
if asked me, if Kevin Durant to hear him explain
that asked me that question. I know he's not going
to ask me the question, that's all. I'm gonna ask
me the question. Is he going to use this? No way,
no how, But go ahead. I want to hear your reasoning.
First of all, I'd be very hard to do anyway.
I mean, they have to make some trades. But give
me your reasoning. Uh yeah, well, I mean Daryl Morey,

(59:14):
you know, he's a cap guru, so you know he
knows what he's doing. So I'm pretty sure if Kevin
Durant said he wanted to go there, he would move
heaven and earth to get him thereoretically could get him there.
But beyond that, I mean you you'd be playing with
James Harden, who obviously lead you. Um, even though I
doubt you're his private at him do it because he

(59:34):
might be going into the same situation that he went
into a Golden State. But I don't think so. I mean,
like basketball wise, it the best decision because I mean
you would have the highest powered offense and probably the league.
I mean with Dan Tony, he'd let you do whatever
you want. You wouldn't have to everything winning a championship. Sorry,
it's interesting. I mean, it wouldn't be like going to

(59:55):
the Warriors because Houston hasn't won, but it would be
your goss. You still one one back to back, right,
you're still going to a stack team. Let's go to
Jason in Florida. Jason, you know with the Eye couple. Hey, Chris,
thanks for taking my call. Guys, appreciate First things, First,
I should be living in Canada because the dude that's
in the White House. Second thing, Rob should be named

(01:00:16):
Roberto right now. That's right, that's right, he should be
That's a good one. What I told you what to
Cancoon for the weekend. I was there. Okay, Okay, that
does it. The other thing I was gonna say is
I think if kd if if the Warriors lose, if

(01:00:36):
they lose, which I think is a long shot, but
if they do, I think that would be the one
time that Kad could stay in Golden State because value
with that. That's a good that that I mean, I
think he's leaving Golden State. But you're right, if they
lose in the finals, with or without him, you could definitely,
like all that whole narrative of you know, you just

(01:00:56):
joined the stack team is easy to win them, that
would be gone. And then you come back and try
to win again. And if you do and they got
the new bill, there's a lot of stuff to be
a reason why. But all right, all right, let's go
to Ross in the Okay, we'll get to him later,
all right, the basketball conversation will continue with NBA champion
Kendrick Perkins. He joins us in studio. Next, let's get

(01:01:19):
to Ralph Irvin for the latest in sports. Ralph, well,
thank you very much, gentlemen. No, NBA tonight game and
number five in the Eastern Conference will be on the Thursday,
as Milwaukee and Toronto are tied at two games of piece,
I'll tip it off in Wisconsin. Meanwhile, plenty of baseball
going on right now. Baltimore has brought a run back,
but the Yankees still leading the Orioles five one in

(01:01:41):
the fifth. Boston a two one lead at Toronto. Also
in the fifth inning, Colorado gets a three run bond
from Tony Walters. They lead at Pittsburgh six two. Into
the fourth inning, Detroit's still up three nothing on Miami.
They're in the fifth inning. Tommy fam of the home run.
Tampa Bay with a one nothing to lead over the
Dodgers as they play in the fifth inning. Also in

(01:02:02):
the fifth, the Mets falling now they're trailing Washington. The
Nationals up one nothing. They are in the third inning.
Kansas City trailing at Saint Louis. The Cardinals trying to
snap their losing skid. A three run bomb from Marcelo
Zuna and they have that three nothing lead in the
second inning. Philly up one nothing over the Cubs in

(01:02:22):
the first, and the White Sox get a home run
from Eloi Jimenez. They lead at Houston one nothing in
the second. The Saint Louis Blues take on the Boston
Bruins Monday night at eight pm. In today's Discover Card

(01:03:51):
you've seen him all over to Fox Sports one Airways.
Been doing a great job, Kendrick Parkins, NBA Champion Kendrick Parkins.
What's up? So, Chris, Rob, thanks for having me on. Man,
it's a pleasure. It's great to have you in here. Man,
it's great. You have been doing your thing. And Chris
and I we always do that because a lot of
guys that former athletes come through and you know, we've

(01:04:12):
been doing us our whole lives and everybody doesn't get it.
Everybody can do it. You can do it for real.
And so let's first, we're gonna look at some of
your tweets and Rob G can you read you had
a tweet about Steph and Lebron. You obviously were a
teammate of Lebron's in Cleveland, so you know of which

(01:04:34):
you speak. But read the tweet that Kendrick Perkins put out,
and what is your Twitter handle, Kendrick. You know your
Twitter handle. I barely know mine, so at Kendrick Perkins.
At Kendrick Perkins. So go ahead and read the step tweet. Well,
this first one here is a quote from what he said,

(01:04:57):
I speak for yourself. On FS one, they were talking
about pairing Lebron James and Steph Curry. Here's what Perk said, quote,
We're not about to say championships to find your legacy.
This man is arguably the greatest player next to Michael
Jordan's to ever play the game of basketball. This is
disrespectful to King James and the utmost and quote all right,
so tell us why I'm with you, Perk. I mean,

(01:05:21):
my god, but he's not Rob is biased. No, I'm
not light Skin. Look on my Twitter, I always say
who you rolling with tonight when Golden State played team
light Skin. But I mean, I mean to me, man,

(01:05:43):
I mean, you know certain things just you can't you
can't compare. I mean, we gotta, we gotta respect Lebron's greatness.
I mean it's happening. I mean right before our eyes.
I mean the body of worked that this guy didn't
put in, and the atlas, I mean everything speaks volumes
for himself. I mean, he's gonna be the only guy

(01:06:07):
to probably end up with thirty thousand points, ten thousand rebounds,
ten thousand assists. That's unheard of. And at the end
of the day, when you start talking about individuals like
for as playing basketball individual, to me, winning the championship
is a team's thing, right, Okay for us when when

(01:06:29):
you come to individuals of talking about greatness far as
the individual, that means what he's doing individually on the court.
And no knock on Steph Curry, but guys are really
light years behind Lebron. Let's be realistic, like the things
that he does it we probably won't never see this
in another lifetime. When you played, as I said, with Lebron,

(01:06:51):
you also played with Kevin Durant in Oklahoma City. How
do you compare those two? Well, well, you know, Katie
grew up a lot. I mean when I first got
to Oklahoma City, you know, Kevin was just a score.
Was he always sensitive? Uh? A little sensitive? He listensive?
I think I think we all list sensitive at some point, right,

(01:07:14):
you know, something's a rough our feller, right, But I
watched him growing to especially the season that he had
the mvpiece that the year he won the MVP when
Russ got hurt. He did more than just score. He
was he actually was the point guard on our team
at that time, even though Reggie Jackson on paper was

(01:07:35):
the point guard. But Kevin Durant did most of the
ball handling. And I think he don't get enough credit
for his decision maker and making guys belt he's he
is a playmaker. Um, he's A. He's A. He's A
he's a good rebounder. Um. And he's since he's been
a Golden State, he's turned into uh elite defender. I

(01:07:56):
mean I watched him throughout the playoffs and between him
and Dremond when they would played the five, they completely
took Capella out of the game. Now now Capella is listed,
probably you could make an argument right after Joe LMB.
He's probably the same as could have been an All

(01:08:17):
Star if he wouldn't have got hurt. So, I mean,
Katie probably is gonna go down as the best score
of all time. I mean, the way he could score
the ball, we probably never see this in lifetime. It's
nothing that he can't do. Let let's go back to
Lebron and this year, right, I thought Lebron really took
a hit, not just that they didn't make the playoffs,

(01:08:38):
but just the body language seemed like he was more
caught up with doing a lot of other things. Uh,
he publicly went after Anthony Davis. His young teammates felt jilted.
You know, what did you make of this year? Because
it just seemed like his especially his body language a
certain times, just didn't fit. And I don't know what

(01:08:59):
happened because everybody assumed they would make the playoffs when
you get Lebron gyms and I get it right, he
was injured a little while, but they still had a
chance to make the playoffs. Were you shocked that that
when he came back and when they had a chance
to make it, they didn't make it. Well, you gotta
understand too, Braun is human. I mean, you know, at
the end of the day, he's not perfect. But his
numbers still was, you know, still up there. But at

(01:09:20):
the end of the day, I think, you know, with Braun,
I think he knew that I knew what he I
think he knew what he was getting himself into coming
to the Lakers, and when when they was rolling before
he got injured and everybody was saying, oh, man, y'all good,
y'all could be a contender. Braun came out and said,
hold on, hold on, hold on, We're not gonna move

(01:09:41):
too fast. This is a process. So I think, um,
I think with Braun, I think he didn't really jail
with a lot of guys for the simple fact that
he knew it possibly could be moves or this wasn't
a team that he was gonna be contending for a
championship with. And to be honest with you, he didn't

(01:10:03):
go publicly with the Anthony Davis. Now, he didn't went on,
didn't go in the shop and say that he wanted.
He was asked by Davidminiman, oh that's right, going into
a gamer, you know, like in the in the hallway,
about playing playing with Anthony Davis, and he just said, oh,
that be awesome. Yeah, of course. What I'm just saying.
When when there was a lot of young guys on

(01:10:23):
that team and they looked at it, and then all
the rumors came out that they were gonna trade the
whole team to try to get Anthony Davis. That's why
I was looking at it, because because they seemed to
react to him differently after that whole thing. Well, and
my statement, like, I mean, all the news was getting
out who they were offering, and you can't blame all
that on Lebron's right, but my thing is is that right,

(01:10:45):
it's a business. So at the end of the day,
you know, I've been in trade rumors and it hurts
who we're human, but you know, it's still a business.
And if you go down the line the next any
one of those guys, if they was the gym what
they trade themselves for Anthony Davis, they have to be
honest and say yes. But I think this was new

(01:11:05):
for Braun too, just moving to Los Angeles period, you know,
with all the businesses he got going on, you know,
different production things and stuff like that. So this was
an adjustment peer for him. Also, I mean, being in
Cleveland what the last four or five years, you know,
a small market, moving to a bigger market, this was
something new for Braun. Also, it's the eye couple. We're

(01:11:27):
joined by NBA champion Kendrick Perkers, who is here in studio.
Let's go back to Steph. Andre Goodalla tweeted not tweeted,
said the other day that he's the second best point
guard ever behind Magic, but the point guarding the story
so people were lying they some people thought he meant players,
but he cleared it up. I do agree, Steph is

(01:11:49):
the second best point guard. Ever, how high do you
think can he become a top ten player of all time?
Can he surpass Magic Johnson as the best point guard
of all time? I think he's already there. So you
think he's past Magic. No, I don't think he's past
Magic yet. But I think he's a top ten player
of all time. Wow? Ten? We Hey, Rob, you got

(01:12:11):
the list? Mean, whould you knocking off the list? Let's
just throw the list out at you. I want you
to hear who the top ten are. And I want
to know coming out of this who's making this list.
I want he got his top ten. I want you
can't just throw arbitrary because if you gonna say that,
if you gonna say he's the second best point guard

(01:12:31):
of all time? Right, you just said that, right? No,
I don't think what you think. I think Dan Thomas
is ahead of him, Tom got Oscar robertson fourth. So
you take it. Oh no, I'm talking about no, no, No,
I'm saying when it comes to KD. I mean Steff
rank oscar Robertson. Yeah, he probably would be behind that.
But this, this is only because of the number two.

(01:12:54):
This is the problem saying this is why I ranked
stuff so high, right for the simple fact that Steph,
Steph and Curry changed the game of basketball. Thank you.
And when you have a guy that changes the game
of basketball, you have no it's no debate. Changed. Yeah,
but he's winning. Come on, nobody's seen Will. Nobody changed basket.

(01:13:16):
And that's why Will gets his coops even though he
won two times, right right, Steph is winning. He got
the numbers, and he changed the game, changed the game
of basketball. Steph. Steph changed the game to the point
where the whole league changed to the point where it's league.
I'm mad at Steff because if he wouldn't have came
into logue, I will still have a job. So he

(01:13:37):
changed the whole formatity of how basketball. You gotta give
him something. I'm not giving him any not giving him
any credit, but I think it's a little high. Rob G.
The list you read yesterday, I just want to hear
this and I want to I just want to see
I'm not this is just an arbitrary. So this list
is compiled by Clutch Points. It's an aggregate of all

(01:14:00):
the other publications. It's Michael Jordan, Lebron, James Wilt, Chamberlain,
Kareem abdul Jabbar, Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Shaquille O'Neill,
Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant of the top ten. Okay, So
so step would go in there, who would fall out

(01:14:21):
of them? Okay? So, with no disrespect, I would probably
have to take out Bill Russell. I thought about, Look,
if you people are gonna say that's crazy because of
the eleven rings you rob, you always bring up eight teams,
ten teams, twelve teams always. I've always said no, and
I've always been consistent. That is a factor. Because the

(01:14:44):
Celtics were good. And if you go back to the
fifties and sixties like that, you know what and if
you if you took guys of that day and put
them in the league today as they were, right, none
of them would be I think if you give them
the benefits of today, weight training, soliation, charter flights, better equipment,

(01:15:08):
then the great players like Bill Russell would be a
great He find a way to be a great player.
Bob Couzy, I think would find a way to be
a great player today. They but not as they were
spect but come on now, like they was dribbling the
ball with one hand, like y'all serious? Like no, but
I just don't have people used to wear converse all tailors.

(01:15:32):
I mean, could you imagine playing a basketball game, especially
low top, low top with no support on the bottom
and canvas Bill Bill Russell shot forty four percent from
the floor as a as a center. You know what,
Bob Couzy shot thirty eight thirty eight percent. That's a
lifetime shooting percent thirty eight percent. What can you what

(01:15:52):
is stefph courage shooting? He shooting better than Africa from three?
I'm look, I mean this really look at some point
as we go on and on and on some of
the old legends, because the players are better today. Absolutely,
they're more athletic, they shoot better than they handle. Yeah,
but I'm also one of these guys that don't believe
that everything that happens today is better than anything. No. Everything,

(01:16:14):
A lot of people, a lot of people are in
that world. If it happened yesterday is better every Everything's
not that because those guys had to play under under
under unique circumstances that guys here back, back to back,
train rides, all kinds of stuff that they didn't play.
You know, you got luxury compared to what they had
to do. That's all I'm saying. That's why I typically

(01:16:35):
say the superstars of any era would be at least
stars in every era. And you know, when I first
started covering to the NBA, we talked about this before
you got here, nineteen. I started covering to the NBA
in nineteen eighty seven. I used to be on commercial
flights with NBA players who are sitting in coach because
there were only four first classes. Do you imagine having

(01:16:55):
to sit next to him the five? All right, Lebron
not be participating in these playoffs, but Yannis is, and
Perk says he's even he's been getting exposed a little
bit by Kauhai and the Raptors. He'll explain. Next is
The Eye Couple with NBA champion Kendrick Perkins on Fox
Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of The

(01:17:16):
Odd Couple with Chris Brussar then Rob Parker week days
at seven pm Eastern, four pm Pacific, all right, it's
the eye couple. Chris Brusar, Rob Parker, an NBA champion,
Kendrick Perkins worship wins. Kendrick doesn't even know. We're in
the spirit. I mean, you don't like that? I know
he liked that. What what this? You didn't know? We

(01:17:37):
passed the play when it's a worship with a full
timee plea. No, that's good. That's good, um, Kendrick. Rob
g read read Hendrick's tweet. Was it a tweet or
just something he said? I don't speak for you. This

(01:17:58):
is another quote from Kendrick Perkins on FS one talking
about this Bucks raptors. Here hees talking about Yannis said cool.
I feel like right now Yannis is getting exposed just
for the simple fact that Kawhi's garden him not even
percent and he's making it tough on Yannis. All right,
Does he need a jump shot? What we need? What's

(01:18:18):
going on? You know? He needs a jump shot? And
and the deeper you get into the playoffs, you know,
the tighter things go. So you gotta go outside your
body and be able to make plays and do things
outside your comfort zone. Now, mind, I tell you he
did have what twenty five but it wasn't It wasn't

(01:18:39):
like it. We didn't dominated twenty point blowout, right, he
didn't impose his will. And at the end of the day,
I think the Raptors that figured something out um by
putting Kawhi on them, and then Sergey Bacha and Kasot
has been doing a great job on the hill side.
Serge has been playing great, He's been playing excellent, right,
and so I just feel like, you know, Yannis is great, um.

(01:19:03):
He played well in the regular season, and I also
see a mental fatigue because for the silver fact he's
never been this far and when you never got out
of the first round, you don't know, like he gets
to the point where it's exhaust you already then went
through an eighty two games season. Now first round, second round. Emotionally,

(01:19:24):
now you're in the conference finals and it gets tougher.
And nowadays it's not about even schemes or x's and those,
it's a wheel power. It's about who wanted the most.
Did that happened to Damian Lillard as well? I think so,
because he wasn't the same guy the conference finals. He
was a no show. I think I think it happened

(01:19:44):
to the entire Portland team. I mean, if you look
at it, because if you look at Golden State right now,
they look like they could play three more rounds a basketball.
They do, and and it's the it's the point of
being experienced for the silver fact. Look at Draymond. He
wasn't all start this year, right, but he took He
knew what he had to do to get to this level.

(01:20:05):
So towards the end of the season what he'd do,
he dropped twenty five pounds. He knew what, he knew
what was coming about. And guys who never been this far,
they don't know. They just think, oh, it's just hooping. Nah,
it's exhausted, is traveling. Okay, we gotta go back to
Milwaukee and play the Mare. We gotta make sure you
know all this coming to effect. Yeah, I think y Look,

(01:20:25):
I voted for Yanni's MVP, and I think that was
the right vote. But even then you could see he
obviously the weakness is three point shooting jump shot. But
he also doesn't have any moves right, which isn't unique
for a seven footer, but he always when he drives,
it's that spin move and that's right right, Yeah, or
the Euro step. You're right, So I think all these

(01:20:48):
things are catching up with him, as you're right, and
he'll learned Lebron his first final, san Antonio zoned him
up to a degree and forced him to shoot the
jumper and he got exposed to a degree. So yeah,
that man, say, so who you got winning the series?
Right now? I think I think it's in Toronto hands
because I believe Toronto should have won Game one from
the get go, and I think they knew that. Game two, yeah,

(01:21:11):
they got blown out, but I think Toronto is comfortable
playing in Milwaukee and we all know whoever really gets
Game five pretty much gonna win the series right now.
That's a turning point. It's but they battled back. And
the thing I'm impressed by Toronto is, uh, you know,
Kawhi didn't play that great, and they've been they wanted

(01:21:32):
to blow out in a big game, right What they have.
The difference is is that, like I said, the experience factor.
I mean, you gotta look at it. Sergei Bacha hadn't
been to the finals, he didn't played in hundreds of
playoff games. Marcus Marcus all didn't played him playing their playoffs,
so they got that experience. All right, I couple Kendrick

Kendrick Perkins. He's dropping the knowledge, so we're glad to
have him. All right, Kendrick, We're gonna move on to
Kevin Durant, one of your former teammates. And all season
long people have been saying, and you know, I've talked

(01:22:36):
to executives, players, coaches around the league. Everybody is saying
he's going to New York. And this week there were
reports Mark Stein wrote that the Clippers are really strongly
in the hunt Rich climbing Katie's agent saying that he
has no idea yet where he's going. It's one hundred

(01:22:58):
percent wide open, and you I know, have said on
one of the shows on FS one that the Clippers
need to be in strong consideration for Katie. So where
do you think it stands? As far as I know,
none of us know exactly. If you had to rank,
say the top three in order of where you think
he'll end up, what would you say? I would have

(01:23:18):
to say. In my order, I would have to say Clippers, Brooklyn,
New York. Wow, So Clippers number one, Brooklyn over the next, Okay,
So tell us why? Well? To me, I think, first
of all, Katie has always loved Doc Rivers, all right.
He's always asked me questions about him, praise them. And

(01:23:41):
in my opinion, the Clippers have done a complete turnaround
for is with the organization and the front office and
stuff like that and death franchise. That to me, if
I'm Katie, I would want to play for you mentioned
Doc Rivers, that might other than winning the champion with Boston,
that might have been his best coaching job this year. Absolutely.

(01:24:05):
I mean he had a wonderful year in the Land
though too that year year, right, But and he and
Doc actually told me this. He said this was the
second best team to his O eight team that he
had this year. He had fun coaching those guys. But
think about it, man, it's you have a winger that's
in office, Lawrence frank Um. You had the Jerry West

(01:24:29):
who's right there too, consultant and consultant, and you have
a great owner who's invested into the team, let alone
with Doc Rivers. You have coach Rex, you have Sam
Cassell who's you have a nice coaching staff, and also
the team is not bad. And I mean, and you're
still in LA in a big market, And I think

(01:24:50):
to me, I would think if I'm Katie, I would
really consider that being one of my number one options.
Here's my thing, and that that makes sense to me.
It didn't sound like he's the Clippers are totally out
of the realm of being able to land him. But
Chris and I talk about this all the time, k D.

(01:25:10):
Because he went to the Warriors and they had already
won a championship. And if he's able to go to
the Knicks, who haven't won a championship since nineteen seventy three,
and turn that around, he would he would get the
cred of his entire career. Not only did he go
to Golden State had already won and he won two
finals MVP and two championships. Say if they don't win

(01:25:32):
this year, say he won those two but didn't the
turnaround a hapless organization that can't get a get out
of its own way over the last thirty five years
or whatever has been and to win a championship in
New York would be beautiful? Would be Would that not
be an ending chapter to the guy's career? Oh? Absolutely,
But I'm just I mean, I'm being realistic. But you know,

(01:25:55):
you hear all the talks, right, so you know, obviously
guys don't know what Kawhi I want to do, right,
But obviously he probably wanted to come back home and
play in LA right. Clippers might be a choice for him,
But du Kawhi love being a superstar and love all
the attention. I don't think so. So at the end
of the day, you attract Kawai, then Katie may look

(01:26:19):
and say, hm, or you get Katie Kawhi. Come, that's
a nice combo. What do you have any idea how
Katie would feel about playing with Kawhi. I think Katie
loves Kauhi. I mean, I think Katie would be able
to be the number one option and be that guy,
and Kawhi could be number two and just play basketball

(01:26:40):
and be the quiet Kawhi that we know you don't
want to be a leader or that guy of a team.
He just want to go out there and play basketball,
go home and mind his business. With Kevin Durant, you
got the superstar him, which Kawhi is coming into his own.
But it still would be nice to see Katie in
New York with Kyrie Irving, so say that would be

(01:27:01):
beautiful too. Well, let me ask you this about New
York because we both worked in New York covered the Knicks,
and New York fans think the Knicks are like this
huge brand and they're the Lake. They equivalent of the
Lakers and the Cowboys and the Yankees, and everybody wants
to play for him. I grew up in the Midwest,
and I'm like, the Knicks were nothing to me. You

(01:27:21):
grew up in Texas. Obviously, most players in the league
didn't grow up in New York. Do players around the
league look at the Knicks it's some special Like Rob
was like, if you win it in New York, it's
gonna be bigger than anywhere. Do players in the league
view it that way I didn't. To be honest, I
could understand why you didn't because they've been bad a

(01:27:41):
long time. But yeah, but I'm just saying, like, you know,
like for example, they'd be like, oh, they're the Mecca
basketball and like oh, it's Madison Square Garden and then
like you get there and you like this it like what, No,
wait a minute, right, Parden Arena, that's the Madison Square Guard.

(01:28:02):
I'm not gonna sit there as a New Yorker to
act like Madison Square Garden is a dumb because it
ain't no dumb. How's it great? They renovated it years
but through my years of playing, it wasn't. Really it
was not. It was not the best place. Madison Square
Garden is where it's located, the energy of the city,

(01:28:23):
all the other stuff that goes with it, and don't care.
But what I'm talking about the visitors for people who
grew up and it's a different era. I'm a lot
older than you guys, especially you are I'm holding especially me,
and then I'm not that much older than It's crazy,
but I'm older. I can understand why people of late
would just say because they haven't wanted anything. And I

(01:28:44):
told you nineteen seventy three. But at one time it
was a magical place where a lot of great things
have happened. You go back to Willis Reid and I'm
talking about these the seventies, but there was there wasn't
magic theory they used to beat the Lakers. Uh you
know what I mean, and that that was almost fifty
Tell of you what's I'll give you what I'm gonna
tell you and perk you can say, I'm looking. I know,

(01:29:07):
I understand as a guy that played talking about like
memphishing Field and a FedEx Stadium and all these other
dumps all over the country. I don't care if they're
brand new. They got nothing going he no, he city.
Here's what Oklahoma City's atmosphere is better than masters. Please
stopped it, rob right now. Today the fans because they

(01:29:29):
wear t everybody wears the same color T shirts are
really really they ain't got nothing else to do them
but whatever here me, This dude wasn't shakers right the well,
this is the one thing that the Mass Square Garden
has going for, and you're right, they renovated it. It's
not bad, but they got rappers and celebrities and actors

(01:29:50):
in the front rows. Yeah, that's it though. That's d
that's because you can't that arena. You got all these
state of the art arenas everywhere else. Ye, Rob, let's
not you gotta you can't watch. You cannot be biased, man,
I'm not. I'm giving you because I was like, so
I never played in Madison Square Garden. Right, So my
first year in the league, I'm like, oh, we going

(01:30:11):
to New York. I get to see Madison Square Garden.
I get there and I'm like, what the did you?
Did you ever play? Now? You're too young. You didn't
play in the old Boston guarden, did you? Okay, Chicagos,
Well you know I'm asking you. All those old legend
deform they were the wasn't dump this frum in Philadeli.

(01:30:32):
They were. They were all dumb. They was the cover games.
They was dumps. But they but the Knicks cannot compare
to the Lakers and Celtics, right they was no, no,
not when I give you what I'm saying. So they
was they was winning in those dumps. Yeah, but I'm
saying those plays exactly hanging back in nineteen seventy three,

(01:30:54):
they didn't win anything when they want to come to come,
didn't go. I mean, you know, jay Z put on
some good concert the old Boston Guarden, you know what
they did one stay, but this was a story, true story.
They put down a new parquet floor, like the waxing

(01:31:15):
over over the top of it, you know what I mean,
afterday and this was like after a game, and then
let it dry to put the stuff down. The next
morning they came out and rats were stuck all on
the floor and they had to redo it. And the
old Boston Garden it was like rat infested. It was
so bad. And the same thing the old Chicago Stadium was.

(01:31:37):
Was it dumb? I mean, Madison Square Garden has a
lot more charm than that. I think you guys are
selling the short that's all. Yeah. We are from Jamaica, queen,
so you meant your second choice was Brooklyn, right, So
that's a beautiful for me about that. Why you think
KD be a good fit there, well, I think because
you know it's great. I mean, you know, nor nice

(01:32:00):
market to be in. Um why not. How's he gonna
handle because we talked about Katie being sensitive. He's been
going back and forth with me on Twitter and all that,
and I got love for Kadi. I'll you know, like
I said, we gotta love hate relationship. But how do
you do you think the New York media or any

(01:32:21):
other place he may go like that could be a
problem for him with the media just handling all the
you know, the attention and stuff. And I don't think so,
because Katie is more intelligent than what people give him
credit for. So I you know he I don't think
he's He's never been to a place where he had
to deal with that type of media. So I don't

(01:32:43):
know what to tell you, because you know, playing in
Okcy obviously small market, then go to go to state,
he don't have to do the media by himself. He
got full of the all stars that help him, right,
So I don't know. I don't know. I don't know
how he handled it, but he's pretty strong. Call him
the missault. You know we always talk about the goat.
I call him the missault. Why was the most sensitive

(01:33:06):
of all time? You think Kad is way for gotta
be that big of a star. Seriously, like he's a
great player making a ton of money. I don't know
if he's still would tell a Rooks the girlfriend or
whatever he got beautiful girlfriend. He got everything going, and
he's sitting worrying about tweeting some twenty five year old
his mom's basement who has twenty five people on Twitter? Listen,

(01:33:27):
what is that? But because listen, this is what I
have to understand, right, So Katie was in the shelf
for so long and there's no knock on yes because
okay see, and it's not a knock on okay see
because it's the first class organization. But you know, they
mimic the Spurs. You know, Sam Press is from San Antonio.
They membered the Spurs, so they run an organization where

(01:33:50):
his team first not too much like I didn't got
called to Sam Press the office plenty of times about
my Twitter what I tweet with my wife and tweeted out,
Really the wife get in trouble to you. Yeah, So
it's more so so the Katie that we're seeing now,
it's just a katie that's he's finally being let out.

(01:34:10):
So he's able to be kind of yeah so in
a well pretty soon. But he's he's been so for
how long he's an okay see, nine years eight years nine,
So for nine years he kind of was I don't
want to say in a straight jacket. But you know
what I mean, he was he couldn't be himself. So
now he's able to speak out and do what he

(01:34:32):
want to do. So this is why we're seeing this, Katie.
But this is anything I don't understand. You know, as
as a guy, when you sign up to be a
pro athlete, the media comes with. It's just part of
the job. It really is. And and I'm asking you
as a former player, I don't understand why guys don't
get it. They think that when they push back it's
it's against us. It's not really against us. We're just

(01:34:55):
a condoing between the player and the fan. So that's
a disrespect of the fan. When they don't want to talk,
they think that we really care. We don't care. We're
there to do our jobs. You know what I'm saying, Like, really,
you're not hurting me by not talking, but your fans
out there that want to hear from you, you're doing
that to them, not to us. And I don't understand.

(01:35:16):
I'm not saying that you gotta agree if you come
out to your lock and talk for two minutes or
three minutes to say, man, it was a bad game.
Put it on me or whatever, and you're done. I'm
fine with that and this, and I agree with you
because this is one thing that you know, as being
an NBA player or being a celebrity, it's certain things
that you signed. This is what you signed up for.

(01:35:36):
So for example, when I leave my room, my house,
or whatever the case may be, it's certain people that
may say, oh, that's kids a purpose. Can I get
a picture? Can I get an autograph? I know that
you understand that. I know this before I leave a house.
So I'm already mentally prepared for anything that's about to
come my way before I leave a house. And I
think a lot of guys need to start approaching it

(01:35:58):
that way, even with the media, like you gotta expect this,
like you like you gotta tell me the best player
in the world. And you know what, KG Kevin Garnett
told me something way a long time ago. He was like,
when you have a good game and you go read
the newspaper articles and you ready to address the media

(01:36:19):
the same way you have a bat when you have
a bad game, make sure you keep that same energy,
no doubt. And he told me that just like that,
And he told me and Ronaldo that he was like,
you got here the good, just just like you could
hit the good and take that here the bad and
accept it and bounce back from it. All Right, we
got more coming up with NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins. Keep

(01:36:42):
it locked with Fox Sports Radio in the Eye Couple.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker week days at seven
pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the iHeart Radio VIP. All Right, it is the Eye
Couple of Christ and Robe and NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins
were brought to you by Little Caesars. Little Caesar is

(01:37:04):
the place to go tonight to get a large five
meat feast perk you might want to when you leave here.
You get a five meat feast at Little Caesars for
just nine dollars nine dollars. It's got Pepperoni's sausage, bacon, beef,
ham and in some places they replaced the hand with
Canadians for this. Don't make a sound so good. I'm

(01:37:28):
trying to lose. I hear you want to stop, but
I just don't need to crush, eat the cheese and
the meat that's to die. I'm on, I don't need
to crush rib on that he losing weight too too much.
He looked like JJ stop JJ from Good Time. You
call him kid Dano Mike here, all right, Perk, we

(01:37:48):
got about four minutes three three or three you've been comparing.
Maybe that's strong, but Kawhi Leonard to Michael Jordan talking
about that, well, just you know wat Schaa play and
his game mimics Michael Jordan. I'm not saying he is Jordan.
He don't have the jelly that Michael Jordan has. He's
more still for Michael Jordan if you but if you

(01:38:11):
watch him, his game simulates he gets one dribble, pull ups,
you know, the way he palms the ball, dunks the ball,
his fade aways, his turnarounds, and guess what his favorite
player going up? It's Michael Jordan's. You know, I gotta
admit I think it's a good comparers. Like you said,
we're not saying he's as good as I don't know,
but I know not move like Kobe. Obviously move move

(01:38:35):
Kobe will want to talk about with everything the way
and you could close your your eyes here was sound
clipper Jordan and Kobe, and you can't tell which one us.
That's where I get what you're saying. See, Jordan didn't
dominate the ball like a lot of the guys today.
He didn't know over dribble like you said. It was

(01:38:55):
one step, pull up two dribbles, you know, and Kawhi
does that. Why it doesn't over dribble, doesn't dominate the
ball for the most part. And that's where And then
you said the shot selection, the mid range stuff. Get
it's real strong and robbing up and even his form,
I mean, and there certain times at the top of
the key you'll see Kawhi go between his legs a

(01:39:17):
little bit not but he just a stiffer me maker,
Michael Jordan to me, just just simulating this game, not
saying he is mj if you who do you think
is the best player in the world right now? To me?
Why are you used right now? Say that? Ump? What
do you mean right now? Right now? Be like god
hour in today's In today's I think Kevin, Kevin Durant

(01:39:42):
is the best if because listen to this, Kevin Durant
is the best player in the world. Because if I'm if,
I'm a GM right and I have a choice to
start a team, and I'm picking one player today right now,
age matters and everything. Who are you picking to start
your team? You know who's in that conversation. And I

(01:40:04):
don't think he's the best player in the world right now.
I'm not gonna say now, but Steph Curry gotta be
in that hold on. Steph Curry has to be on
the team to make you a question. It might be kad,
but I'm here in the conversation, in a conversation, but
I might ask you this. You could move Katie and
go put him on Chicago Bulls, right this Chicago Bulls

(01:40:27):
team with this shoe, What would they'll make the playoffs? Right? Yea?
And what see? Would they be a top five seed? Maybe? Yeah?
Even give him that, I say top four. If you
take Steph and put them on this Chicago team, what
would they be? I give you that. With Steph you
probably gonna change. But they built that around No, But

(01:40:48):
I'm just saying he was effective before that. But I
give you. See what I'm saying, I give you to
take right put them with any ball club, and he's
gonna change that ball Last thing, you're in the Eastern Conference.
Who you got it's too too right. I got Toronto,
So you got Toronto. I'm going with experience. Y'all both wrong,

(01:41:10):
I got. I'm with you. I think experience matter. I
picked Milwaukee. He's just he's a Milwaukee Bucks slappy and
he has been all years stopped. I actually picked Toronto
before the playoff began because of the experience factor. And
he told me that, look, Milwaukee is looking shaky right now.

(01:41:31):
There's no question. So five is huge. Game five when
they're probably gonna win the series. I can't wait to see. Well,
we appreciate you. I appreciate you. Thanks, nice to meet you.
You from Beaumont, Texas as well. Hold up that we've
been together for eighteen year wild all right, get the

(01:41:55):

not a game tonight. It will be Game five tomorrow

(01:42:16):

engine light come on can be stressful. The AutoZone Fixed
Finders Service will help you trouble shoot the problem for free.
C store for restrictions and details. The Yankees have hit
five home runs. They're leading at Baltimore seven five. They're
in the seventh inning. Boston up four to two at
Toronto into the eighth inning. Mitch Moreland is a couple
of rbi in that game. Colorado with the nine two

(01:42:38):
lead at Pittsburgh, they're in the sixth inning. Miami has
come all the way back. They lead at Detroit four
to three in the eighth. Saint Louis Toill holding that
five two lead over Kansas City in the fourth inning.
As for the Dodgers and the Rays, well it's all
Tampa Bay right now as they lead five one in
the seventh inning. Lots of scoring going on in that

(01:42:59):
seventh including a sell Garcia with a home run that
brought home a total of three runs. Now, of course,
you need to make good choices, and with Truecar you've
got a star in your roster. So when you're ready
to sell or trade in your car, check out Truecar.

and Rob Parker to defend three of their hottest takes.
In tonight's contestant a repeat challenger none other than Andy

(01:44:52):
firm And Andy, how you feeling this evening? You know what,
I'm gonna tell you how much I love you, guys.
You took me away from all in the family and
the Jeffsons. That's how much I love That is big
time about it. I wanted to watch that. It's live normally,
but show. We'll say this, Andy Ferman is one of
our favorite people. You know that to go back to

(01:45:13):
the Cincinnati days. But we love you, Andy, I love you,
but we're not gonna take it easier. And we're glad
you healed up from the last time you Because you
guys want to get your butts kicked again, Let's do it.
There we go. A little word is a little too
nice there in the beginning. Oh no, no, No, we
had a little bit of a fisticuffs break off there
at the ends. Our guys, you know, all this works,

(01:45:33):
and he has three takes. He's gonna go head to
head with both of you guys at the same time.
So let's get started. Topic number one. Andy Furman says that, uh,
you know what, the one hundred and sixty two game
baseball season a little too long. Why can't they just
break it up into two eighty one game seasons instead
to keep that interest going? And you got thirty seconds

(01:45:53):
state your case. It's common sense. They're so busy trying
to change the talk with the pitching and this and whatever.
And if the league play you know what, cities like Baltimore,
Kansas City, Seattle, Miami, even Cincinnati, they will have a life,
a second life in August. If they had two eighty
one game schedules, that's what they need to do. And
the winner of the first eighty one games automatically goes

(01:46:14):
to the playoffs, and the same with the second half.
It's a natural. I don't know what, you have two
World series will say anything. Come on, Chris, let them go. No,
that's what you do. I mean, basically, eighty one games. Boom,
you're in. That's kind of like an automatic wild card,
if you will. They're in. They're in the playoffs. All right,
go ahead, Andy, Please, what are you talking about? Eighty
one and eighty one is one sixty two. It's the

(01:46:37):
same number of games. It doesn't make anything any difference.
It's called math. They started zero when quiet, be quiet?
What are you doing? And you know what you're talking about?
Kansas City? They won the World Series in twenty fifteen,
not nineteen eighty five. What are you talking about? More
baseball teams of one World Series than NFL Super Bowls

(01:46:57):
and NBA Championships. Do nothing wrong with baseball stopping? Oh now, gohead, Andy,
Oh look at Kansas City. Now you know it's one
of you done for me lately, and just both teams
will start, both of the leagues will start at zero
and zero beginning in August, and all of a sudden,
now the Chicago White Sox and their fans have something
to root for. They got a second life. I don't

(01:47:19):
think there's anything wrong with that. It's certainly a lot
better that that route they want to put in there
with extra innings and start a guy at second base.
That's completely insane. That's nuts. Andy. Here, here's here's an idea.
I do like party of the idea. How about just
one eighty one game season? How about that? I mean
the urgency. That would be tremendous. I'd love to see how.

(01:47:40):
I know they'll never go to it because they can
make money off one sixty two, but that would bring
excitement back into the game. You can't have two seasons
if you're not ready to play a full one sixty two,
shame on you. You can't blame the teams that are
ready for a full season because some guys can only
play half a year. I think it's fine in that

(01:48:03):
regard the way it is, and if you're not gonna
shorten games, you certainly don't make it two seasons. How
about taking out the shift and some some rules like
that to make things better? All right? Round one? You know,
I was a little disappointed that we had Chris cut
off Andy Ferman and his lost mom, and then Andy
Ferman cut off Rob Parker in his round so points
I said, I said, a bad press, what about me?

(01:48:24):
But you know what, Rob Parker didn't cut anyone off,
so his team gets the roar A team, But I
don't have a team. That's why you're on the hot seat.
Nine a round for the yard couple. He's up one
nothing here, Andy Ferman, don't worry. You got plenty of
time to redeem yourself. Topic number two. We've been talking

(01:48:45):
about the NBA All Show, and Andy Furman says, you
know what, forget Zion Willson going to the Pelicans, why
don't they trade that number one picked to the Lakers
and get Lebron and a D and New Orleans. Andy,
you got the thirty seconds. Tell us why. I don't
know if I ever said that, but I will tell
you this much. I think they've had it in mind.
If they trade for Lebron. The guy's thirty five years

(01:49:06):
of age, he's coming off an injury. The only thing
that could happen there. I know David Griffin is a
general manager in New Orleans, and he had Lebron in
Cleveland when he was a gym in Cleveland. So there's
some sort of a connection there. And I think that
Lebron at ad want to play with one another. So
that is a possibility, a very remote possibility, but certainly
a possibility, but certainly with Zion coming in there with

(01:49:27):
a career of maybe eight to ten twelve years ahead
of him. Why would you go for thirty five year
old no matter how good Lebron is and again tell
he's coming off an injury. So are you saying they
should trade for Lebron or they shouldn't they should not? Oh? Okay, yeah,
I mean this is supposed to be the hot seat,
but I agree with you. I mean, look, theoretically, Lebron,

(01:49:50):
Anthony Davis and Drew Holliday would be a great, you know,
team that you would think could contend for championships. But
the fact of the matter is Lebron does not want
to be anywhere but Los Angeles, and he may go
to New Orleans or if he got traded somewhere else
and sunk and not be happy. Heck, I don't even

(01:50:10):
know if he step step away from the game or something.
So you can't trade for an unhacko. Whoa. You know what,
Let's screw this round because there was a typo in
the exchange. Gee, come on, man, it wasn't against you,
that is, so you know what, score a round for
both of you guys, just to make it all right.
Let's round number three. It's always the most controversial topic

(01:50:34):
of them all with me, it's worth two and a
half points here. Andy Furman, the fur Ball, lives in
the Midwest, grew up in New York, says that rain
is better than sunshine. Kind of weird to say when
we're in La here right now in Fox Sports Radio
and you got thirty seconds, try to defend this one. Yeah,

(01:50:54):
this is a natural because they have the song after that,
you know, April showers, bring May flowers, and who doesn't
like flowers? We need plants. Plants obviously give us ox
the entire cycle, the breathing cyclists. Number one, we need
water and you know one, here's the butt online cleaning
cleansing this water. And last but not least, you can't
get cancer from rain. You can get cancer from the sun.

(01:51:15):
So basically rain is a lot better than the sun.
How's that? But that in your pipe and smoking brassad
and Parker, Andy, just because you don't want to take
a shower and wash your hair, the idea that you
need rain and do it for you, it's embarrassing. You
know that it's beautiful sunshine when we come out here,

(01:51:36):
especially we love Los Angeles. Beautiful sunshine. It energizes us
we want to get out of bed every day and
tackle the day. There's nothing better than sunshine. Of course,
with some sunscreen, but there's nothing better than sunshine. It
makes you feel better. Good, Andy, all I go. You

(01:51:59):
know what though, First of all, everybody who manufactures umbrellas
and rain coach will be out of business. That's number one.
So I'm a money kind of guy, and I'm thinking
common sense here right now, So you don't want to
put those people out of business. First of sunshine, you
gotta wear sunglasses. You gotta wear sunscreen. It's a message.
After the sunscreen, what do you do? What do you do, Parker?
You gotta wash it off? What do you wash it

(01:52:20):
off with water? You need water? I love rain, take
the rain any day of the week. I don't care.
Go to Seattle. I love Seattle. Andy. I thought you
were a sports broadcaster, not a biology professor. You're up.
Were talking about chlorphill and plants are good for your
body and all that stuff. Stopping with that, we need sunshine.

(01:52:41):
How else will we be able to go outside and
play street basketball? How else will we be able to
have football for the young? And what about baseball? You
love baseball? If it rains every day. We can't play baseball.
What are you talking about? Soccer, track and field. I
can go on and on. We need the sunshine because

(01:53:01):
we need sports. Have you ever heard of a dome?
And by the way, the process of philo synthesis could
not exist without rate. Hey hey, Andy, uh, somebody just
called for you as Millie Vanilli and they say blame
it on the rain. Thank you very much. I'm sorry
this and this was fighting it uphill battle there in

(01:53:22):
the last round, and Rod Parker managed to ruin it
right at the end with that corn round number three
and the wind. I don't call me, I'll call you
fixes in. I think the fixing ut screwed on this one.
Great job, Andy. We we are gonna protest the verdict,

(01:53:45):
but great job. Nonetheless, you can check Andy Ferman out.
He's on Twitter at Andy Ferman f s R. And
make sure every Sunday morning six to nine am Eastern
time you check out the Fermin and No Show with

(01:54:06):
it's on me. You can stay at my house, all right,
my man? All right, Andy thanks a lot. Do you
give Marry out points or not my credit cards? It
had to be one of the most shocking stories of
the day, and we'll tell you all about it. Next

(01:54:49):
The Eye Couple of Chris Brussar and Rob Parker and
Rob interesting story. Let's move on from the NBA, but
stick with basketball. The University of Michigan just hired a
new coach. Of course, John bee Line, their former coach,
went to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA, and they

(01:55:09):
hired Jewarne Howard, remember the Five five, to be their
head coach. A little bit of a shocker. Would you say,
I was really surprised? I'm not that shot because I
knew I you know, I knew his name was out there,
and I saw that Jalen Rose and Severn Lebron James
were pushing for him to get it. So I was

(01:55:30):
not shocked. I was only from the standpoint of that's
like and I'm not Juwan Howard deserves an opportunity. I
know he's done it. His name was out there for
some NBA coaching jobs. But that was like the dark
part of Michigan basketball, the Fab Five. So that's the
weird part. They took down to all that stuff that
they were at odds with him, and even though Juwan

(01:55:50):
wasn't really part of them, right, it was part of
the negative stuff, right, It was more about Chris Webber
and Jalen Rose, and Chris Webber is even you know,
almost went to jail for lying to a grand jury.
I mean it was serious. So I just thought that
was weird from that standpoint that it's not a proud

(01:56:11):
moment of Michigan basketball. Even though they were revolutionary and
they they won the national championships, they've won Michigan, but
the team most people think of when you think of
Michigan basketball is the Five five. They do right, No,
they had impact, but they never They never even want

(01:56:32):
a Big Ten title. Do you know that. No, I'm
just saying I get all that, but they were. I mean,
I'm just saying, considering what they've been through with that,
you think they shouldn't have done that. No, I'm just saying,
I think it's actually good. I'm surprised that they Right,
I'm glad they did. I think maybe they can move on. Look,
you try to erase that whole era. Stop it. We all,

(01:56:53):
Like I said, that's what that's anonymous with Michigan basketball.
Not the Glenn Rice team that won the finals or
won the championship and the other team that won. You're
it's the fast Remember who the rumil l and Glenn

(01:57:14):
were together and they beat Seaton Hall. I can't even
remember their other championship. But that's my point. You remember
the Fab five when you think about Michigan basketball. So
I do think it is good that they are kind
of I don't know if I call an olive brand,
I would say that. I think. The other thing I

(01:57:35):
say is, look, I hope Juwan Howard does well. You
look at it and you see, okay, with the NBA connections,
you know, his his career in the NBA, had a
very good playing career, made an All Star team a
couple of times, was also obviously a great player in
the Fab five, you would think that they would be
able to recruit and maybe recruit some All Americans because

(01:57:59):
they don't get the All Americans even though they've been
good lately, so that might help. And then he's qualified
six years under pat Riley and Eric's most in Miami
on that staff. So I know, just never know, never been.
And I would give you an example though, Kevin Ollie
went to Yukon and wound up winning their national championship.
Not ye, Johnson wasn't able to turn around, alb. You

(01:58:24):
never know. I mean, going from the NBA to the
college level, you're gonna be able to recruit. It's totally
different from an NBA sits right, but it's you know, look,
he is qualified, and we'll see how Chris Mullen was
not an NBA coach, but was an NBA executive and
obviously a great player, and he didn't wasn't able to
really turn around. Saint john got a better year this

(01:58:45):
year and then he was stepped down. But Jerry Stockhouse
with Vanderbilt this year. Yeah, Stickhouse went to Vanderbilt, but
he coach. He was a coach in the Developmental League. Yeah,
but it's gonna be interesting. But I think it's a
good move that they gave it to him. All Right,
