Speaker 1 (00:00):
It is the Odd Couple here on Fox Sports Radio,
maybe even more of an odd couple, Myself, Jonas Knox
and Brady Quinn in for Robin Chris and on the
Tuesday edition on Fox Sports Radio, we talked a lot
about Jimmy Garoppolo. What you should really be paying attention
to that according to a former NFL quarterback, Baker Mayfield's
(00:21):
comments to regarding Daniel Jones, We'll get to the bottom
of all that controversy. Antonio Brown the latest on a
major contract extension in the NFL, and Odell Beckham the
hell's the matter with you? Thanks for listening to The
Odd Couple podcast. Be sure to catch us live every
weekday from seven pm to ten pm Eastern four to
seven pm Pacific, or Fox Sports Radio. Find your local
(00:44):

com or stream us Live every day or the iHeartRadio
app by searching f s R. You're listening to Fox
Sports Radio. So let me get this straight. So Brady
(01:05):
Quinn and I are doing a show together here on
Fox Sports Radio. There's actual traffic outside the studio. It's
not as laid out as it normally is. Oh and
by the way. It's because it's a weekday and we
are normally doing the show on Sunday evenings. But how
about it, Brady Quinn Jonas Knox in for Rob Parker
and Chris Brussard here on Fox Sports Radio, we are
(01:28):
the odd couple for today and we're doing it live
from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. Or fifteen minutes
could save you fifteen percent or more on car insurance.
Visit Geico dot com for a free rate. Quote, ma Man,
Brady Quinn, Well, we are an odd couple, so that
that makes a lot of st for tonight's show. The
intro oddly too fit kind of both of us in
(01:49):
a way. I mean, I'm mary that I don't think
any one of us is divorced, but maybe we're heading
that direction. I do have two girls. We got a
BRender on that. Well, I mean, who knows. Man, Like
I said, Dave, I'm I'm Belichick. As far as this
engagement goes, just next day at a time, That's all
I'm looking at. Next day, next day, well or Jalisco
(02:13):
depends on depends on how this one goes. Um, But
but yeah, nonetheless, yeah, I guess this does apply. Um, Yeah, absolutely.
By the way, are we the most metrosexual show in
the history of sports radio, Well, speak for yourself. I
don't think we are, but um, fifty percent of the
show definitely is. Yeah. And and that fifty percent you
(02:35):
can find him on Twitter at third underscore goal is
where you can find him. That man is Brady Quinn there.
All right, So Brady Quinn, Jonah sucks. We're gonna be
taking you all the way up until ten pm Eastern
time here on Fox Sports Radio. So let's get into it. Okay,
let's let's get into Everybody, break out the hot take. Oozies.
It is time we had a quarterback, a highly paid
(02:55):
quarterback in the NFL not have that great of a performance.
But we are lucky because we have a former NFL
quarterback with this. Who's going to tell us whether or
not it is freak out time or whether or not
we need to calm down with what we saw from
Jimmy Garoppolo on Monday Night Football. Brady Quinn Jimmy Garoppolo,
with a zero point zero passer rating, spoke afterwards about
(03:18):
his performance. It's something I haven't done in the year obviously,
so you know, got knocked the rust off and everything.
And thankfully we have a short week this week, so
we get bonced back quickly. But yeah, it's, you know,
the first step of getting back into it, all right,
feed me, Brady Quinn. What do we make of Jimmy
Garoppolo's performance? Not much, because I think it was just
what he said. It's about knocking the rust off. It's
(03:38):
about seeing him back there, being confident in his knee
after a twenty cl that he's gonna be a feel
good move around and all that. Look, it's his first
game action. They're playing against a defense on the road
that probably has the best duo between Von Miller and
Bradley Chubb in the NFL. They're not game planning for
(03:59):
this opponent yet. And as bad as the box score looked,
when you break it down, it's never as bad as
what you think. Now. I mean, take for example, the interception. Okay,
first off, the left tackle Joe Staley absolutely whiffed on
Bradley Chubb. He stepped as if he thought he had
inside help, which I have no idea why you feel
(04:21):
like you would have inside help if there's a guy
inside of you that the guard's gonna have to take
and on top of that, you're playing against opponent that
has Von Miller on the other side. So if you
had one good edge rusher, usually you can slide the
line to that edge rusher. When you have two, you can't.
So if you're a tackle, you know you're going to
be on an island the entire game, so you always
protect inside out. And in this particular case, he got beat,
(04:45):
barely got a hand on him before he was in
Jimmy Garoppolo's face. So that's the first key to what
led to an interception. The next thing is go back
and watch the route concept. Matt Brita is running directly
what's called a bullet route into Mark. He's good when
who looked like he was running a hitch route. And
I have no idea who busted on that particular play,
(05:06):
but one of those two did because they were in
the same vicinity as one another. And that's not a
route combination that a wins versus that coverage or be
that you would run to a two man side like that.
So you have poor protection or lack their of all
together matched with a bad route combination, and then ultimately
it falls on Jimmy Garoppolo just to eat it or
(05:26):
throw the football away, right, So he has to be
accountable for that, but again a lot of other things
attributed to it. You know, I've talked about this before.
Playing quarterback is about making good decisions and then executing right.
And sometimes you can make good decisions, you can execute
at the highest level and it still doesn't work out.
He threw a good ball across the middle, probably would
have hit the dig or the incut, but instead of
(05:47):
got batted by Shelby Harris, who had one of the
best games I've seen him play so far in his career,
absolutely mauled Ben Garland, their center. Which some little background
information by the way, on Ben Garland came to den
Verreza defensive tackle from Air Force, so mind you he
has had to put on weight and he's converted to
play offensive line, formerly a guard, now playing center on
(06:10):
the road in this matchup, So just just a little
background on all that. That's one of the reasons why
it was difficult for garoppolo all night. He had Shelby
Harris in his lap and then von Miller and Bradley
trouble and each side of him like he's in a
phone booth trying to throw the football. Yeah, So let
me get this straight, just so we have this all clear,
just so we can sum it up. So and so
everybody's on the same page here. So Jimmy Garoppolo, who
(06:31):
just ripped up his knee less than a year ago,
in his first game back, is on the road against
what is probably going to be a very very very
good defense coached by one of the best defensive coordinators
in the league as head coach. And there were missed
assignments and missed execution by the players around him. Yet
(06:54):
we're surprised that Jimmy Garoppolo didn't light it up last night. Huh.
That's the problem. People don't want to actually look at
this stuff and look any deeper than just the box score.
And it's lazy. You take into account, you know this
coming off an injury, are you totally comfortable that everything's
gonna be a okay when you get back out there.
I wasn't totally shocked by Jimmy Garoppolo performing the way
(07:18):
that he did. It's his first game action. Look at
all that he was having to deal with, and he's
coming off the injury. It's gonna take time, and I'd
rather him do this in the preseason, or throw the
five interceptions in practice then and get that out of
his system. Then do it in the regular season. If
this is a regular season game and it's a repeatable
it's a repeatable offender it was stuff like this, then
(07:38):
I get it. But I think we're making way too
much out of what happened last night, and we're not
factoring in everything else that we've just broken down. Well,
what I'm trying to do is give you context to
what happened in that particular play when he threw an interception.
Now there was another play where it should have been
a pick six, right he threw to the outside. I
believe he's trying to talk a good one on that play,
and the cornerback absolutely dropped it. So that was a
(08:00):
bad ball, bad decision. And I think the thing that
fold them there was they ended up shifting their coverage
and they end up going to a brackets coverage. And
and just so people understand, I'm not gonna get in
the nuances of brackets coverage, but you're doubling. Let me
on the show. I'll just listen. It's what I do.
I mean, I'll try to step back. Yeah, that's what
I do here, just to understand, they basically doubled two
(08:21):
receivers and you gotta find the one one matchup and
that's what that's all about. That's something though, that you're
gonna figure out through game planning that you're gonna game
plan for that and say, Okay, this is when they
get in their brackets coverage, and this is how we're
gonna go about beating it. Right, They're not game planning
for week two of the preseason. If you're a game
plan for any week of the preseason, it's gonna be
your third preseason game. Most teams take this as that
(08:44):
that next game that they've got to play. Now. It's
a little different for um, the Ford nine ers because
they're in a short week, but most teams would handle
the third preseason game where they're starters, if they play
at all, will play the most, and they'll be game
planning for that like they would during the course of
the regular season because it's the last action those starters
are going to see the entire preseason. So this week
one is the week to be more concerned by, if
(09:06):
any but honestly, from that performance, just to see him
out there and moved around healthy. I'm not concerned so
much with Jimmy Garoppolo. I'm more concerned about that offensive line.
Can't it stand up versus a good defensive line? Can
the wide receivers separate versus a good defense, a good secondary.
It didn't seem like either of those things are going
to work out for them, And that spells more trouble
(09:26):
for me that I'm concerned with the forty nine ers
than I am Jimmy Garoppolo. Yeah, It's the one thing
that still amazes me. We continue to do this. We
all acknowledge that a quarterback needs help around him in
order to be successful, and then when a quarterback has
a bad performance, we fail to look at what happened
around him that didn't make him successful. Like, I just
don't know why we continue to do that. So it's
(09:47):
clear that there was issues in multiple areas last night
for the San Francisco forty nine ers. It wasn't just
Jimmy Garoppolo. But of course, you know this be in
the quarterback. You're gonna get all the smoke, You're gonna
get all the heat from social media and all the
people that don't watch the tape like you do, who
actually study this stuff and can and can dig deep
inside and go, Okay, this is what happened on this play,
(10:08):
this is what he was trying to do. There's a
reason that had happened and went down this way. Now,
coming off just the injury and only in looking at
the injury, how long And I don't think you've had
the significant knee injury that Jimmy Garoppolo had had. A
PCO haven't had an ACO. Okay, how long would you
imagine or how for you personally coming off an injury?
(10:30):
Brady Quinn, former NFL quarterback, did you feel comfortable that
you could do the same things that you could before
you had the injury? So PCL's different. But and it's
one you don't have surgery for Usually your tear it
and you try to strengthen the most is around it
and rehabit. But that's pretty much it. I mean, leguns
don't grow back, so it is what it is. I
(10:51):
think I did it in the bowl game my senior year,
the Sugar Bowl versus LSU, aftergot molly wopped down in
New Orleans, and I probably didn't feel one hundred percent
until probably until at some point that season, right, So
because I never really got to kind of recover. I
mean I was rehabbing it throughout the course of preparing
(11:11):
for the combine a Pro day, and then you're into
OTA's mini camp training camp. So there's never really that
time to fully rehab and feel like it's rested it
and then healed or at least strength enough around it.
But that's a good I mean, our bull game was
in January. That's at least a good eight nine months.
I mean, at ACL it's gonna be a year. Yeah,
But let's beyond the injury itself. There's two things that
(11:34):
attributed to people being frustrated with Jimmy Garoppolo seeing him
in this moment, one being the report that he threw
five interceptions in a rowing practice. Man, now, we don't
know how those interceptions occurred. One of the three of
them came via a wide receiver running the wrong route
right when I was if two of them came from
tip passes, or maybe maybe they hit the wide receiver
(11:56):
in the chest, but then they bounced off and went
right into the defensive back. I mean, those things happen,
and so all we see is the report of five interceptions,
but we don't actually know how they went and then
furthermore past that. Sometimes you have to try things in practice, right,
Like I'll never forget Russell Wilson on a normal bootleg. Right,
you've got your guy in the flat, you've got your
over route, and you've got your deep comeback, and then
(12:17):
there's usually this extra one. There's this d post way
on the backside that no one throws. It's just there
to occupy the post safety so he doesn't take the
over route. Well, one day, we went on training camp
with a Seahawks back in two thirteen, and we said,
we're gonna try to throw this if we can. And
I looked at Russell and I looked at the other quarterbacks.
I'm like, I mean, if I get outside I see
someone open, I'm hitting them. I'm taking my profit. I'm
(12:39):
moving on with it. But Russell is special enough to
be able to buy time and he could still chuck
it all the way down the field to make that
sort of play. And he tried it a few times
and I didn't work out successfully. But that's what you
have to do sometimes, especially this time during the year.
And I'm not saying Jimmy Garoppolo was testing stuff, but
maybe he was in practice when when they end up
throwing some of the interceptions and then the game's a
(13:01):
different story. But that's also what led to this thought
and the fact that he's been paid forty two and
a half million, which isn't his fault. I mean, look,
he capitalized on the opportunity that was there and had
more to do with the situation of him getting traded
to the forty nine ers when he did, and how
good he looked early on when he first got to
San Francisco under Kyle Shannon and Mark Schlareth Fox Sports One,
(13:22):
Fox Sports Radio NFL analyst who played in the league
for a long time, Super Bowls, Pro Bowls, all that
Mark Schlareth was at practice and talked to John Lynch
and John Lynch the general manager of the forty nine ers,
and Schlaire told us that this weekend on Fox Sports
Radio that Lynch told him, yeah, Garoppolo threw the five interceptions,
but we put him intentionally in bad situations, which means
(13:45):
they may have mixed something up, or they may have
done something a little bit different than he wasn't used to,
just to test him in these scenarios, and so he
threw the interceptions. But again, no, I haven't seen tape
on it. Have you seen tape on it? There's no
film on that stuff. But people are now keeping score
at practice, which blow. I don't understand why that's done.
(14:06):
To me. Practice is where you go to experiment those things.
It's an old rule in fighting. They talk about it
all the time when guys are training for a fight
and they are in a fight camp. If somebody gets
submitted or somebody gets knocked out, you never talk about
that afterwards. Nobody ever brags about it. It's a big
no no because you're kind of looked at as a
little bit of a rat, Like why would you brag
about something in practice? When you're trying new things, people
(14:28):
take chances they wouldn't normally do to see what works.
Yet we're doing it in the NFL, and because of that,
people are jumping all over these stories and I just
don't understand it. I've never understood. It doesn't make sense
to me. Well, there's a lot of other stories that
people jump to today. Then there was one particular player
not to foreshadow something, yeah, how to come back, yeah
and make some public comments. So I'm sure we'll get
(14:49):
to that at something. Yeah. Absolutely, he's Brady Quinn. I'm
Jonas knoxis is Fox Sports Radio. You can check out
the show on the iheartrat iHeartRadio app. In for Rob
Parker and Chris Bruce for the Odd Couple here on
Fox Sports Radio. All right, coming up next, somebody in
the NFL got paid and there's a reason for it.
Find out who next here on FSR. Be sure to
(15:11):
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard
and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. He
is Brady Quinn. I'm Jonas Knox in for the Odd
Couple here on Fox Sports Radio. Rob Parker, Chris Brusart out.
So they have us fill in and things are gonna
(15:33):
get wild. That's what we do, Brady. This is how
Sunday Nights go on Fox Sports Radio. And everybody is
nursing a hangover, still drinking to avoid one Sunday nights,
we are firing away here on Fox Sports Radio. That's
what we do. That's that's what we do. We try
to nurse those hangovers or as as some people would say,
you know, it's easier to retox than dtox, So just
have another drink. Oh that's what some people say. I've
(15:54):
never heard that before. It's amazing. So first, well, you
guys in Dublin really know how to get after it. Huh.
I know that's why my hometown where my family originated
from at some point. Yeah, right, Yeah, I don't know
what I am. Um, I've heard a bunch of different things.
I've heard Irish Scottish were the villains on Superman? What
were they called? I don't know what were those called.
I'm not sure. I know that sounds like a sounds
(16:16):
like a you and we don't want to play along
with Yeah, you and you and Dave Anderson joke at
Radio Row when everybody's hung over. I brought it up.
I thought you were part of the Uh. I'll figure
it out at some point of the show. Yeah, our four,
we'll get into one or something like that. I have
no idea our four. Let's sit black here. They're dressed
in all blacky kind of gothic. Nothing wrong with leaving
(16:38):
condition or it works, man, That's all it is. Leaving
condition or no idea? All right? Ten Minutes from now
Here on Fox Sports Radio we are going to discuss
um the latest developments and one of the most amazing
stories in recent NFL history. All right, so we're gonna
get into that ten minutes from now here on Fox
Sports Radio. But Brady Quinn, um, good news out of
(16:59):
the NFL. We had some good news. Not everything is controversial. This.
I love that this happened because I love the player,
I love the story. I love that this was the
end result of what happened to him. But the Dallas
Cowboys have agreed to a reported five year, sixty five
million dollar deal with linebacker Jalen Smith. It includes thirty
(17:19):
five and a half million dollars guaranteed, which a wise
man named Brady Quinn once told me forget about the term.
It's all about the guarantees. But nonetheless, a notre dame
legend himself, Jalen Smith gets his deal with the Dallas
Cowboys just a couple of years after destroying his knee
in a bowl game that really meant nothing. It wasn't
(17:40):
a college football playoff game, and he went from what
a lot of people projected to be a top five,
if not a number one pick in the draft slipped
in the draft. So it's great to see him get
a big payday as he's come back from that devastating injury.
No good for him. I mean one, he's overcome a
lot with that injury. A lot of people were seriously
concerned he would ever be able to play at the
level that they saw it notre Dame. Honestly one of
(18:02):
the greatest athletes I've ever seen come through there. I'm
not just saying that because he's you know, just got
a pay day. I mean, legitimately, he was a stud
and even last year. You know, you look at his versatility.
It's not just against stopping the run. He's a really
good rusher as an off the ball linebacker too. When
he blitzes, when he takes on running backs or when
(18:24):
he's trying to find a way to get to the quarterback,
he usually does. And he's pretty darn good in coverage too.
So you know, he's one of those key cogs on
their defense that they knew they were gonna have to
extend at some point. And I think it was a
wise move on the part of Jalen Smith at his agents,
as there's supposedly three offers out to the guys on
offense Amari Cooper, Zeke Elliott, Dak Prescott. You know, none
(18:46):
of them want to take it, none of none of
them want to be considered a top five at their
position based on the contract the Cowboys supposedly had offered.
And Jalen Smith said, Hey, I'll take what's there because
if I wait a year from now, because he's got
a year left on his deal, you know, there might
not be that money waiting for me and that might
not be enough. And I haven't been able to sort
through all the details yet. A little birdie told me
(19:09):
it's put some somewhere as far as like the eighth
highest paid off the ball linebacker, which you know, it's
not a record breaking deal to his position or it's
not going to reset the market. But I think part
of that is Jonas. You know he can't he had
a devastating injury. Yeah, a lot of teams, everyone's passed
on him the first time around. The Dallas Cowboys were
willing to take a risk and drafting him really didn't,
you know, impact the team at all as a rookie year,
(19:31):
but then did in year two. And I think he
looks at it and says, this team took a chance
on me. I've got a great chance for success here,
a great chance to profit off the off the field. Here,
I can give this team a little bit of a
discount to stay here and be with this crew, and then,
you know, maybe even helps out some of the other guys.
But I also think maybe it expedites those guys thinking,
(19:51):
all right, like this guy's eating up some cap space too.
At some point they need to start coming to the
negotiation table as well. Look when he tore his knee up.
I remember it was in the same bowl game. It
was the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State. And what was
noteworthy about that game is so Joey Bosa got ejected
for a targeting penalty. That's right, And I said at
the time, that's going to be a blessing in disguise
(20:12):
his last game. He gets thrown out of the game.
And I said, but you know what, Jalen Smith also
was playing in his last game and got his knee
ripped up, and we didn't know what his future was
going to look like. So in the end, Joey Bosa
actually benefited because he got ejected before anything could happen
to him. When Dallas drafted Jalen Smith, I said at
the time, I think they overdrafted him because we didn't
(20:35):
know what was going to happen with the knee. It
was just a few months after everything went down with
the injury, and even building up into his rookie year,
there was conversations that his nerve hadn't grown back, that
there was drop foot potentially, that that was impacting him
and it was really really bad. And the fact that
he's rallied around it, played really good football, been a
(20:56):
major player on that defense for the Dallas Cowboys, and
signed it's the deal because you know what, he's actually
seen his own mortality flash before his eyes. He sees
what happens. He sees that you're one play away from
losing out on a bunch of money. Mike Mayhawk said
at the time when he was doing his draft evaluations
that Jalen Smith was his number one rated player in
the draft. So to see him come all the way
(21:17):
back from the injury and then get paid, I think
he appreciates the position that he's in, and I think
the Dallas Cowboys appreciated that they actually have a guy
who likes the deal that's been presented to him and
doesn't feel like he's too good for because he knows
the risk is always there and then the money's not
always going to be there either. Yeah, I'm sure there's
some reality too. I mean, look, he did cash in
on insurance policy, so you know, I know he lost
(21:38):
money at being that you know number, you know, top
five pick, but but there was some compensation there for him.
He was wise enough to get that, so you know,
him capitalizing off this too kind of adds to all
of that. I just I kind of wonder, like which
one of the dominoes will be the next to fall,
I know. And that's the interesting part of all this
is you got to wonder if Zeke or dak or
(21:59):
Amari were surprised, I mean from the from the Cowboys perspective.
You know, Jalen Smith's done everything they asked of him.
I mean literally since he's been drafted, with his rehab
and way he's played and executed, and he showed up.
He wasn' gonna throwny fitz. He felt very fortunate to
be there. And to the point you just made, he's
obviously been through a lot where these other guys haven't
(22:19):
as much. Maybe they have more of a chip on
their shoulder or they're more in the case of Zeke Elliott,
trying to you know, reset the running back market for
what they should be paid. But the way they're going
about it obviously isn't necessarily being rewarded yet. I mean,
Dak and a Mario are there, Zeke's not, and so
it's going to be interesting to see if if Dak
and Amari are the ones that get paid, you know, next,
(22:40):
what's left there for Zeke. I mean to get into
the specifics of this all, he didn't show up August six.
That means they doesn't get a crude season, even though
they already picked up the fifth year option. I mean,
it's not like he's going anywhere anyway. But when you
when you think about that, now, if he does, for example,
set out the entire season he was to play, you know,
two years from now, that he would essentially be a
(23:01):
restricted free agent after that, still a decent pay day,
but he would be further away from free agency, which
is obviously the whole goal of trying to maximize your
market potential. So it's just a unique situation for Zeke
to be doing what he's doing because he's so far
away from being able to push that envelope of free
agency versus Dak who's a year away, and I'm Maori
(23:23):
Cooper who's a year away, and so it's a little
bit different. They obviously are. I mean, the Cowboys are
forced to come to an agreement with those two as
opposed to Zeke, who they have control of, and I'm
sure they really want them on their team, but at
the same time, they don't want to make a big
financial mistake that comes back to bite them for years
to come, especially when they look like they have a
running back who's capable and Tony Pollard. And also, look,
(23:44):
Dak's gonna get thirty plus million, correct, I mean, if
the Cowboys sign him, it's going to be for thirty
plus million a year, Oh, Averagener Sell, Yeah, I mean
I would imagine he's going to try to surpass Carson Wentz, which,
by the way, he's done more than Carson Wentz. Sorry
no, no no, yeah, I mean, well, he's gonna try to
get more than him. But Zeke. It's gonna be interesting
(24:04):
because if Melvin Gordon accepted a deal before Zeke, you know,
and if that deal, for example, the one they supposedly
offered him was twelve million average annual salar, which would
make him like the fourth highest paid running back. It
puts more pressure on Zeke than to want to surpass it.
But also now you know, he's a far away away
from resetting the market like like Todd Gurley had fourteen
and a half or fourteen and change, So it makes
(24:26):
it even that much more difficult for him to be
able to, you know, accept the contract that's you know,
really worth the hold out. Everything's been through and also
Amari Coopers and no rush to get a deal done
because his tender this year is what fourteen million. I
think that's what wide receivers get fourteen point three. So
I mean he's good with playing on that, it really is.
And if we all agree that Dak's going to get
(24:47):
the contract, Zeke's in a really tough spot. And last
year I remember talking to somebody who was with the
Raiders who said that there was an offer on the
table for Khalil Mack and they were waiting to see
what Aaron Donald was going to do. And then once
Aaron Donald signed his deal, KLO Max representatives came back
to the Raiders and said, all right, we want one
better than him or whatever the number over what the
(25:09):
Rams gave Aaron Donald. And that's when John Gruden and
the Raiders said, Okay, well, I mean so if Melvin
Gordon and Zeke are both waiting for each other, I mean,
when's this going to get done? I like, the more
the longer this goes on, the less I feel like
Zeke's gonna be there a Week one. I don't think
they're gonna have in week one. Yeah, I mean it's
it's gonna be. I think someone's gonna sign before week one,
(25:32):
one of those three, one of those three, and I
think two of the three signed. You know, at some
point the season, I mean, Dak maybe you know, playing
the leverage and saying I know if I get through
this year and I play, well, they're gonna have to
pay up at that point. I mean, they're gonna have
to use the franchise tag. Now we're negotiating that as
our floor, and there's gonna be a lot of money
left for him. You know, Zeke could end up being
the odd guy out. But if I was a betting man,
(25:53):
I think they get a deal done. I think they
get one done. You know, something somewhere around around Labor Day,
somewhere around Labor Day. Heading in the week one of
the season. He's Brady Quinn. I'm Jonas Knox and for
Rob Parker and Chris Brussar. This is the Odd Couple
here on Fox Sports Radio. Great news. There's a quick
and easy way you could save money. Switched to Geico.
It only takes fifteen minutes to see if you could
say fifteen percent of one on car insurance. Go to
Geico dot com and see how much you could save.
(26:15):
So somebody is benefiting from a what appears to be
a little bit of a disaster in the NFL. Find
out who that is next here on Fox Sports Radio.
But for all the latest, be sure to catch live
editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob
Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific. Jonas Stocks,
Brady Quinn in for the Odd Couple here on Fox
(26:36):
Sports Radio. Rob Parker, Chris Brussard out, So we take over,
and I believe it is National Radio Day here on
Fox Sports Radio. So how about that Brady Quinn. Look,
that's got a hashtag. It's like a Twitter fan who
knows it's one of those made up Hallmark holidays like
Valentine's Day, like Father's Day, Mother's Day. It's all made up.
I mean they just pick and choose what is what?
Like when's it's true? I honestly feel like there's more
(26:59):
than one to day year like I see it. It's
all it's national treats four times a year. It's like, hey, everybody, look,
it's National ball gag Day? Like what who makes that up?
Who makes the rules here? What did you interview the
gimp from full Fiction and just say, hey, man, what
are we doing this? Just make a sad stupid really
pulling out all your Sunday that masa? What are you
talking about? The greatest hits? Man? Don't worry. Quin from
(27:20):
Jaws and Backdraft will make an appearance later on here
in there. You go checked all the box. Absolutely go
by the way. I don't know if you have, but
if you are familiar with Twitter right now, but somebody
reached out to us on Twitter, yeah, uh live. I
don't know why this person would. The only thing right
now is what regular season baseball? I have no idea,
(27:42):
but Li've bet Jesus for those years for those of
you that that don't listen to our our Sunday night
show here on Fox Sports Radio from eight to eleven
pm Eastern time five to eight Pacific times. So for
those of you that don't listen to our show, you
what we do on the show is we do a
little something called Li've bet Jesus. And how this worked
is that a couple of years ago, when we first started,
(28:04):
the lights went out in the studio and a piece
of paper fell down onto the desk. I thought it
was a joke. I thought somebody was messing with us.
I thought the tile had fallen, and I opened up
the piece of paper and it was a wager on
an actual game that was happening during our show. So
all I did was read it on the air, and
since then he has showed up every single week and
occasionally when we fill in here at Fox Sports Radio.
(28:25):
This mystery, whoever it is, makes a pick and usually,
and if you think I'm lying, go to at Live
bet Jesus on Twitter. At Live bet Jesus sends out
a lightning bowl and when that happens, he usually appears
within the next fifteen minutes or so here on Fox
Sports Radio. We don't know when, but he usually appears,
and he usually gives out a winner, Brady Quinn, isn't
(28:45):
that right, No, it's not right. He gives up a pick,
it's usually not a winner. And he's going to show up.
If I had to guess, I don't know what's saying
about thirteen minutes, you know, fifteen minutes, Piper take. That's
usual when he decides to show up up, all right,
he'll slide in, he'll make a pick. He'll give me
very little time to respond to how bad of a
pick it is or how little money it'll make you,
(29:07):
even if it was if he was able to win
a bet. Yeah, and uh, that's that's pretty much how
it works. Yeah, so if you want to lose some money, yeah,
stick around. We're just bet opposite, all right, or just
bet opposite. But whatever he advised, good stuff. Way to
support the show and the product, Brady Quinn. Outstanding job
by Brady Quinn. They're always loyal to the only loyal
guest we've ever had on the show here on Fox
(29:28):
Sports Radio. All right. By the way, I don't know
if you know this or not, but that Antonio Brown
helmet story still going on, Brady Quinn, Yeah, so much so?
Did he find one? I know, yeah, believe it or not,
and I know you wouldn't know about finding a helmet,
but believe it or not, Antonio Brown with number three
on the way, and Antonio Brown was back at Raider's practice.
John Gruden spoke about it earlier. I've been a distraction
(29:49):
to me at all. I mean, I hate freak it
to anybody, but we we've known what what the status
is regarding his feet. He just showed up with frostbite.
I've never had a guy's show up with frostbite, and
unfortunately we got that thing under control. And this grievous
thing is no laughing matter. It's something that's really important
to him. And there's nothing wrong with supporting your players
(30:10):
on things that they believe him. We also understand the
league's position, but I'm confident that he's going to be
a heck of a player for us to be ready
to roll. So John Gruden spinning it positive, He's not
concerned about it, you know, Johnny Geeve just being positive.
Nothing wrong with that. First off. Like, John Gruden's a
sharp guy, and I think he's had to play this
(30:31):
about as well as as he could have. I think
Mike Mayock was at his wits end the other day,
say he's get it all in or all out. Was
exhausted all efforts. You could hear in the tone of
his voice how frustrated he was. And even though there's
probably an element of good cop, bad cop, I also
think Mike Mayock's frustration comes because it wasn't his idea
to bring Antonio Brown. John Gruden decided to trade for him.
(30:53):
John Grunen wanted the player, and Mike Mack was sitting
there saying to him, no, no, no, no no, no, you
don't want to do that. You don't want to do
that because you might get a circus that's going to
show up. And as John Gruden talked about all the
first he's experienced with Antonio Brown, Mike Mack probably could
have predicted that um. And I think that's why you
hear John Gruden, you know, talking away where he's so
(31:15):
supportive of it, because he has to be. He's the
one that ultimately made this decision. And look, let's just
be honest here, The Raiders had a John Gruden was
hired for a couple of reasons. One, they were hopefully
you know history, Yeah, of course he win games, Yeah,
win games and try and revitalize the franchise, but also
because they needed a buzz back, they needed they wanted
(31:39):
to be talked about again, isn't so the Mark Davis
apparently the poorest Okay, and we use that word lightly
poorest of all NFL owners, correct, but true. They play
in a dump. They play in a place that has
a baseball diamond on the field for like the first
month and a half of the season. Um, they're just
there's not a whole lot there and they haven't had
(32:00):
a lot of success and there's no buzz. John Gruden
was hired to do two things. Hopefully win but definitely
generate buzz. Guess what he's done. So because the reality
is this was a four win team a year ago
that is now the most talked about team in the NFL.
Oh and by the way, you can catch their latest
episode on Hard Knocks later tonight. That's been a success.
(32:23):
So mission accomplished for John Gruden. I don't think he's
that disappointed with what's happening. I don't think his jobs
in jeopardy. I think this was the plan. They wanted
to get back and get some national headlines. And job
well done by John Gruden and the guy who looks
like an alien threw up on his feet. I's just
(32:45):
I mean this, we haven't gotten to the regular season,
by the way. I mean, here's the reality to this
is over under. Is there another Antonio Brown issue before
week one? Oh, there's got to be. Come on, yeah,
there's gotta be. It looks see I look at their
schedule for a second. I'm gonna give you a moment
to look up their schedule. I think it's by week four.
(33:07):
And I want to say, in the first few weeks,
I forget are they open with? But they play like
Kansas City in Minnesota, Denver at home, Denver at home
at home at Minnesota. Yeah, and then and so look,
did you know Antonio Brown has never had a losing
season since he's been in the NFL. Yeah, he's never
had a losing season. Five never a losing season. They
(33:29):
could be a one win team maybe, I mean shoot,
maybe an O and four team. Like I don't know
which one of those teams. You could say Oakland is
better than you might say Denver. But I don't know, man,
they look pretty good. They look pretty good on Monday
Night football. And so I would definitely wouldn't say Kansas City.
I wouldn't say road test in Minnesota, no way, And
then look at the coltson of Andrew Luck. Maybe not,
(33:51):
but still even even there on the road, they're a
much improved team. They could be Owen four. Yeah, I
mean at that point, I think that's when you could say,
I'm pretty sure there's gonna be some antics from Antonio Brown.
He's going to be frustrated we could see something else
and because he's never experienced that sort of defeat, the
lack of success. And let me tell you something, and
(34:11):
I'm not saying this just to be a smartass, but
if I've got, like you know, at the athletes's foot
or frost spider or whatever they want to call it,
on the bottom of my feet, and I'm a wide
receiver at his size who depends on his feet to
be able to cut in and out of breaks, Okay,
but I'm saying, but him, he doesn't. It's not like
he's going to overpower guys like a Julio Jones. So
if I'm if I'm a wide receiver who and and
(34:34):
feet are that important to me, the last stadium I
want to play in is one that has a baseball
diamond in the middle of it, honestly, and so well,
you know you know who's who else? Feed are really
important too? Oh yeah, Rex, Ryan, come on, you know
how you get rid of athletes' foot, by the way,
how do you well? You got a piano, that's all
that's the move. The acidity of it, supposedly kills athletes foot.
(34:57):
So so urination kills athletes foot. I didn't know that.
Supposed interesting, that's the rumor. You should try it next time,
you know, definitely you're in that situation in fact, really
beautiful think And that was Rex commenting on Antonio Brown's
Instagram butt kid to touch him again? By the way, um,
and so so urination is the way that you take
care of athletes foot. And the reason that I said
(35:18):
that is because that's how you should have said it.
Is that way we didn't get doped, all right, Jonas Knox,
Brady Quinn here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next here,
the Great Li've Bet Jesus will dazzle you with his
sports betting picks live here on Fox Sports Radio. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with
(35:39):
Chris Brussard and Rob Parker week days at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific. That guy over there's Brady Quinn. I'm
Jonas Knox in for the odd Couple here on Fox
Sports Radio. Rob Parker, Chris Bruce art Out. We are
in all the way up until ten pm Eastern time
here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up ten minutes from
now here on FSR, we will get into a story
(36:02):
that just goes to show you don't believe everything you
initially see, especially when it comes to the NFL. Somebody
has been exposed. That coming up in about ten minutes
from now here on Fox Sports Radio, a happy and
national radio date. Everybody listening and taking part in the program.
And Brady Quinn and I elevated to week to a
(36:24):
week night appearance here on Fox Sports Radio because it's
a national radio dame. They'll give us one, they won't
give us more. Just in small doses, you know, just small.
We're a small dose type of type of showy. You know. Well,
I meant Jesus like he should probably only show up
on FSR once a week, Like God forbid, you actually
(36:45):
get the opportunity twice a week to work. It's like
you probably shouldn't have live bet Jesus show up. You
know well, I mean, listen, I am. I am grateful
for whatever opportunity I get here on Fox Sports Radio
and the fact that live Bet Jesus can join us
and hand out a winner. I think everybody else would
be grateful as well too, don't you think if he
hands it a winner? But like I said, given his
track recording, trust me, listeners out there, please heed this advice.
(37:09):
Whatever he says, bet opposite. Okay, bet opposite. You promise
you have a better chance of wining statistically speaking, if
history is bound to repeat itself, which it usually is
with this guy, bet opposite of his advice. Look, I
don't want to, I don't want I'm not hearing a
name call. All I would say is that it's you know,
if if I were speaking for lie Bed Jesus, I
think I would probably refer to you as a bit
(37:31):
of a tool, just in the way that you've been
treating him a tool. Tool. Yeah. By the way, bow
Knicks starting quarterback for the Auburn Tigers, Brady Quinn bow Knicks.
What a transition? Well, I was gonna say, is he
related to wasn't there another Knicks that played for Auburn?
Or am I crazy? I heard the name and I thought,
(37:52):
wait a second, why does this sound familiar? Uh, Stevin Knicks?
Is that what? Yeah? Stevie Knicks was the Auburn quarterback
at one point in time. You are just unbelieved, just
driving this show. It is interesting the quarterbacks, like everyone's
announcing right now, The only transfer quarterback I believe to
not get the starting job was Tate Martell. Ye. Pretty
much every other quarterback that has transferred has been announced
(38:14):
as the starter for this upcoming season. Kind of interesting.
But yeah, but don't worry about it because Tate Martell
is going to be trans switching over to wide receiver,
so everything's fine. So that transfer worked out well for
him because he's going to be a wide receiver now.
Unreal man bash, The young man had a rough go
of it. Hey bet better than Brue McCoy, who all
of a sudden has got an illness. Brue McCoy, who
transferred seven times this offseason, finally settled back on USC
(38:37):
and now he's got a quote unquote illness, and its
seven times. If you just transfer between the same two schools,
it's what you do. If it's if it's actually three,
you just embellish it by four. That's the old radio
trick here on Fox Sports Radio. That's how we do it.
I'm just letting you know. Oh my god, Okay, never
mind all that, never mind, okay, everybody to shut up,
all right, shut up right now. The lights have gone
(38:57):
out in the studio. Cars are now staring up in
the sky to find out what the hell is happening
here on FSR. And now a beaming light and a
piece of paper is laying on the desk. This is
all on the up and up. That's Rob Parker's expense
Reportal Rob Parker, it is tonight on the twentieth of
(39:17):
August twenty nineteen that I Live bet Jesus proclaimed the
pick to be the Red Sox plus three and a
half against the Phillies. How about that, lady, I say.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the

Jonas Knox are in. All the way up until ten
pm Eastern time. We appreciate you taking part in the
program on every one of our Fox Sports Radio affiliates,

Quote mo Man, Brady Quinn Man National Radio Day, and
I get to work with you, Jonas. What a privilege,
what an honor it is. Man. I'm glad Fox Sports
Radio set this up. It's look, first off, a week
(40:25):
day together that's unheard of. But then on National Radio Day. Yeah,
And for those of you that are not familiar, Brady
Quinn and I do a show here on Sunday nights
eight to eleven pm Eastern time, five day Pacific time
here on Fox Sports Radio, and we just wax poetic
all the way through your Sunday night here on FSR.
Just you know, wholesome mature radio. That's what we do.
(40:47):
I mean, I think that's a fair way to describe it.
A lot of dumps, a lot of dumps, and I
don't mean that in what the way most people are
thinking right now. It's usually that we've got to get
rid of some stuff from the show. Yeah, it's It
is amazing though, on National Radio Day. How we've been
doing the show, what three four years together? Yeah, it's
been a long time. Yeah, it's amazing how even after
(41:09):
three four years on National Radio Day, you still just
not quite sure what you can and can't say. I
asked for a laminated card. No one nailed the one.
No one sent me anything. All I asked for was
a tangible laminated card with the things you can and
cannot say on the radio. And I'm yet the receiver
run from anyone. And I even emailed Scott Shapiro about
(41:31):
it and he never even got back to me. I
don't I don't think it took me seriously when I
asked for it. But I was like, no, look, I
need like like something physical, something tangible to touch and
look at to then remind myself, don't say this on
live radio. Right. Here's just just to make this easy
for you. Don't repeat anything that Andrew Dice Clay would say,
dundal and we're good here, We're all good. Everything's fine
(41:51):
from there, which, by the way, at some point I
wish we could play the Andrew Dice Clay who appeared
on CNN years and years ago and rip the guy
who was who was interviewing him. One of the great
one of the great segments in television. But we will
get to that at some point when we don't have
other pressing things to talk about, one of which is
Baker Mayfield. Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns, who, by
(42:12):
the way, Brady Quinn on these airwaves on Sunday Night said,
the Cleveland Browns are going to the super Bowl. You
didn't commit on them winning the super Bowl, but you yeah,
the Browns are going to the super Bowl. So of
course my follow up question to you was how many
beer funnels have you had before the show? Because well,
two things that led me to this conclusion. The first
(42:35):
was miraculously watching Steep a mochi is that used say
his last name? Yeah? Step Yeah, see you wax poet.
You much. Look, he's he's the heavyweight champion Cleveland. And
when he was able to come back in that fight,
because let's let's be honest, he was losing. Um, it
(42:57):
was a miraculous comeback, it was. And now all he's
the champ and I thought to myself, I feel like
things are working in the right direction for the Browns.
I feel like the Indians too. They're having a decent year.
Things are working in better direction for them. Although I
haven't really checked them out lately, but last time I checked,
they're doing pretty good. And really, more than anything else,
what I'm hoping for is if the Browns are going
(43:18):
to the super Bowl. Guess what. Guess where that super
Bowl is. It's in Miami. Oh god, that's a great point.
You know what that means? All my friends, all my pals,
my friends, Everyone's coming to the South Florida. Baby, I'll
go to hang out with everyone for a week. Yeah,
all of them, every single one of them will get
the invite. I'm sure every single one will get the invite. Yeah,
(43:38):
of course not. Why would they should be here professionally? Anyway?
This is great. You honestly, you know what doing radio
on national radio a day is like with Brady Quinn.
You know what it's like. It's like I am the
bottom of Antonio Brown's feet. That's what it's like. Like
I'm falling off because every time I work with you,
you're the cry with Therapy Chamber and I'm the bottom
of his disgusting feet melting as he refuses to show
(43:59):
up practice without a helmet. So it's always fun though.
But Telly, yeah, everybody, you'll be in down for the
super Bowl. All you're good friends. I won't get that invite.
Of course, you went to the super Bowl this past year.
Why would you not go this year? Well? Who knows? Man? Listen,
you know I'm a mover and a shaker, right, maybe
I want to go, maybe I don't. You're never quite
sure with me. You actually showed up harassing people, that's
the best way. But you are harassing people saying all
(44:21):
sorts of ridiculous things. That's a dressed inappropriate. That's for
let's be honest, list And I thought it was appropriate.
You know, Radio Row needs a touch of a touch
of goth from time to time, and I provided it.
That's what I could provide, a goth with a deep
V where you could see your belly button. Look. I
have a rule of shirts stepped through the collar to
put it on. That's it. It's not really hard. I mean,
(44:43):
if you can do that and you can accomplish that,
we are all good here. By the way. Um So
Baker Mayfield and those Cleveland Browns who, according to Brady Quinn,
will be at the Super Bowl in Miami this upcoming February. UM.
So he had some comments and a GQ article and
Baker Mayfield and the exact comments that Baker Mayfield's and
I'm gonna read you word for word from the column, okay,
(45:04):
because this got Baker Mayfield a lot of heat. Okay.
Quote from GQ near our booth, a SportsCenter segment about
the New York Giants catches Mayfield's eye. Quote, I cannot
believe the Giants took Daniel Jones. Quote blows my mind.
Right now, that's what he said. Now, what ended up
happening with sports media is they skipped the line in
(45:27):
between on the article and they simply attributed the following
quotes to the original quotes and made it sound like this, right,
this is what we heard. This is what was posted
all over social media, all over television. So what you
just heard was it was actually said. This is what
was posted. I cannot believe the Giants took Daniel Jones.
(45:47):
Blows my mind. Dot dot dot. Some people overthink it.
That's where people go wrong. They forget you've got to win. Okay,
that is not even close to how it went, not
even close. But again, we don't want to do any
digging or research as a media. We just want to
jump on the headline and attack that so much so,
and this is how I know for a fact that
(46:07):
that's not even out went the writer Okay four GQ
who did the article, Clay Skipper, spoke on the Cleveland
Browns Daily podcast and responded, I think in some ways
the thing that has been lost was I then said
to him, it mystifies me how hard it is for
scouts to scout quarterbacks, and he responded to that by saying,
(46:30):
you know, some people overthink it. Generally, if you win,
you're going to keep like either you have one or
you haven't one, and if you have one, that's usually
pretty good indicator of what you might do going forward,
whether or not you might win going forward and playing
in the NFL. I have not seen his Instagram post,
but no, I mean it was we were certainly talking
about football because we were talking about Baker, but it
(46:52):
was mostly just an organic reaction to what was happening
on the screen. And then I think Baker's comments were
mostly reaction to his own draft process, So it wasn't
necessarily a larger conversation about quarterbacks, but it was sort
of a larger conversation about the draft and the draft
process and his experience going through it. Now, what do
you know, Brady? Can you believe it? I mean, can
(47:14):
you believe that people just took a headline and ran
with it without doing their research? I am stunned. How
about you, Brady Quinn? Well, first off, like you're defending
him one, which you know from that SoundBite, I don't
necessarily know that the writer or the interviewer in this
case was saying that he didn't say those things in
some sort of way, right. I mean, he was saying
(47:37):
set him, but in the order that it was appearing
all over social media and on television was not correct, right.
I mean they're taking things out of context and paraphrasing.
But the problem is is to some degree he did
say them right. Like you look at Daniel jones reaction
to all this stuff that got put out there. Whether
it's right, wrong, or indifferent doesn't matter. Daniel Jones then
(47:58):
handled it with class and dig he and handled the
proper way right. The fact that Baker Mayfield wanted to
open himself up to this. And let's remind everyone, wasn't
there a GQ article last year done with a player
who made a bunch of declarations about who was a
good quarterback in the NFL who was bad? Wasn't there
a cornerback somewhere down And I don't know, maybe Jackson. Yeah,
(48:22):
so I guess we didn't learn that. Maybe maybe when
you're going outside the realm of sports, you should be
careful about talking to someone who's interviewing you and then
making certain comments that could be construed the wrong way. Oh,
I don't know. Look, here's the thing about Baker Mayfield.
I love when he says stuff and he backs it up,
and in this particular case, like he said it. Now
(48:42):
I may have gotten taken out of contexts or paraphrase,
and he felt like he needed to walk it back.
But let's be honest, he said it. He did say
those words in a certain fashion, and he opened himself
up to the potential criticism. I would have rather have
just not said anything. I was like, yeah, I said it.
There was more there too. They took it out of context,
but it is what it is, because I honestly don't
care that's his personality. He's confident his ability. I think
(49:05):
he's very blunt. I think the biggest thing that we
struggle with is when you hear someone say something in
the way they say it, versus then when you just
read it in text, right, especially in Twitter. Yeah, it's
hard to put it into context, right, I mean it's
hard to hear the tone through what the text is saying.
And I think that would then lead you to a
different conclusion if you heard how Baker had said it
(49:28):
versus are reading what's actually there in print, and that's
what they're trying to lead you to. But either way,
you know, you still got to be careful about it.
Like he's been in the spotlight long enough, and the
idea of the whole winning thing and all that. Look,
he was at Texas Tech his freshman year where they
go eight and four, I believe, and he left to
go to a better team and better opportunity. Like Okay,
(49:48):
so Daniel Jones had a losing record when he was
at Duke. They haven't had a player drafted since twenty fifteen,
and didn't Patrick Mahomes have a losing record during his
time when he was at Texas Tech. It's like thirteen
and sixteen as a starter, so it's one not indicative
of what that player is going to be, right, I mean,
obviously people don't overthink Patrick Mahomes. But even then, like,
what's the point of him saying that, why would he
(50:09):
want to open himself up to that interview and even
do that altogether? Like, if you bring that upon yourself,
you have to be able to deal with the criticism
that can come with it, regardless of whether you were
wronged or not. That's just how it works. Okay, But
here's the problem I have. Yes, he did say those things, absolutely,
but I don't think him talking about the winning was
him attributing that to Daniel Jones. Because the writer even
(50:34):
said in that interview that we just heard. Yeah, after
he made the comment that he was shocked that Daniel
Jones was taking at number six, I asked him about
the quarterback evaluation process, and we got onto something like
I don't think he was attributing that, But what we
go on back up for a second. Explain to me
then how else you'd attribute that because it was a
transition in the conversation. He loved transition to what he's
(50:56):
saying don't overthink it. It wins and losses matter. Where
else is that going but there? But we're taking out
the entire middle section, and we're taking his quote what
middle section the middle section? The middle section, say, the
middle section where the writer where the writer transitioned to
something else. The writer even says in the article, and
this is the line that everybody's skipped. I tell Mayfield
(51:18):
that I'm mystified that so many supposedly expert quarterback scouts
seem unable to predict what makes a good NFL quarterback.
And that's when Mayfield got into his conversation about winning
and his thoughts that it wasn't directly attributed to Daniel
Jones there. How could it not be because this writer
is talking about what makes a good NFL quarterback? How
(51:38):
would anyone know until you're in the NFL what you're
talking at the draft? You're talking about projecting moving forward.
So in the context of this conversation, the winning and
losing comment and not overthinking and all that has to
be applied to what's there. See, I I disagree. I
think I don't think he was attributing it to Daniel Jones.
I don't I think there was a skip in the
(52:00):
action as far as where they were going in the conversation.
What ended up happening is that people just they cut
out that middle section that I just read to you,
and all they did was do dot dot don listening
to you right now. And I've talked about it all day,
I promise you, Like, there's just nothing that leads me
to think that they just they began the conversation talking
about Daniel Jones and that they transition from it. This
(52:22):
writer's telling him why he's mystified, and he's responding to it.
You're still kind of on that same subject of rookie
quarterbacks evaluating what makes a good NFL quarterback and not
overthinking it, Like, I don't I think you're overthinking now,
I know. I think what ended up happening is that
people just wanted to play selective quote reader and they
(52:42):
took two quotes, put him together and said, oh, that's
what he meant about Daniel Jones. I don't think that's
what happened. Well, really, let's be honest too. Like the businesses,
you can't put a whole paragraph up there, Jonas, So
you can't put a paragraph as the title. You have
to select certain things to get people to click. So
it's of course, but it's no different than that. If
we didn't have the internet altogether and they created a
headline for a newspaper, you don't think they would have
(53:04):
done the same exact thing gets you to read the story.
So then you have to be accountable for the things. Okay,
agree in that conversation, he probably should have been more
guarded with what he said about Daniel Jones quarterbacks in general,
who he was talking to, and how he was saying everything.
I mean, if he didn't want he could have said, look,
this is off the record, and it would have been
(53:25):
all fine. But he didn't say that. He spoke to
him very casually, and then then the interviewer or the
writer in this case, can do with what he wants
with that article with that conversation. But he did, and
the writer did. The writer included and mentioned that we
started talking about something else, and then everybody just took
the two quotes and put them together. That's the only
issue I have, and it's exactly why whenever a headline
(53:47):
comes out, I always click on it, and I don't
click on the site that's reporting on it. I click
on the site that actually had the original content, so
I can see what is actually happening and what has
actually said. Then I think, although I agree with you,
Baker Mayfield, why does he continue to even speak on
these certain things He's going to learn sooner or later
people are just going to turn it into something that
maybe he doesn't intend to. But I don't think, and
(54:09):
maybe I'm being naive, and I'll be the first one
to say if it comes out afterwards, that he was
honestly being critical. But I don't think this was a
direct shot at Daniel Jones. I think that there was
a transition in the conversation said about Daniel Jones. I
think was he surprised that they took Daniel Jones where
they would from what you read? Yes, okay, so why
do Why was he surprised that took Daniel Jones because
(54:30):
maybe he anticipated they were going to take somebody else.
Why would they have taken someone else because they had
other holes to fill? Because maybe they were more successful
the quarterback position. No, I don't know that. So again,
this is what I'm attributed to. He's saying that, like
if you would have a first quarterback taken right if
they were thinking Dwayne Haskins. Do you think it would
(54:50):
have made the same comment. I don't know, probably not,
but it was surprised they took about the spot, not
because of the position, right, You don't know. I thought
they were gonna go somewhere else. You don't know what
he what he would have said if they took with
Dwayne Haskins. I'm I'm basing this off of what he said.
I'm and again this is what he said. So that's
all you can do. And that's why FRON radio we
(55:11):
have to talk about that. But that is national radio
JA Happy Happy, Nashal Radio, da um. You have to
base off what he said. And if he was surprised
they took Daniel Jones in that spot, I'm asking you
the question, would you have been surprised if they would
have taken Dayne Haskins? What do you have been surprised
if Kyler Murray film they took Kyler Murray there? I
don't know, and we're never gonna know. Well, I think
(55:31):
I think it's safe to say based on the comment,
and you're eluding it because it kind of do youconstruct
your entire argument, but but it would be safe to
say it if they took Dwayne Haskins or Kyler Murray there,
he probably would have been shocked, probably would have said, well,
that makes sense. The guy won the Highesman. He followed
me at Oklahoma or yeah, he went thirteen and one,
they won a Big Ten championship, he through for fifty
touchdown passes? Was the Higsman Finals? Like that would have
made more sense because then he wouldn't have come back
(55:53):
and said, don't ever think it. You know sometimes you know,
if you're winning at that level, you went at the
next level, Like it would make sense. Then with the
entirety of the conversation, don't And there's no eluding it.
You're asking me something that's never gonna happen, and it
is not realistic, like it's it's never gonna happen. Like
it's like asking me, Hey, if you were a woman,
what would be well, how the hell would I know? Like,
what do you? I mean? How how would I answer that?
That is a good point, very fair point. All right,
(56:16):
he's Brady Quinn. I'm Jonas Knox. This is Fox Sports Radio.
And again what you just heard there me giving Brady

(56:39):
All right, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox on FSRU. Coming up
next here on Fox Sports Radio, there is a situation
at quarterback for one franchise. Everybody said not to worry.
All of a sudden, there's a little bit of concern
and it's brewing. Find out what it is here on
Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays
(57:00):
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific. It is The
Odd Couple here on Fox Sports Radio. Rob Parker, Chris
Brussard out. I am Jonas Knox sitting alongside Brady Quinn
here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up in we'll call
it less than ten minutes from now here on FSR,
there is an issue in the world of football, something
(57:22):
that we look forward to every single year, but something
about it always seems a little off, all right. So
we'll get to that here coming up less than ten
minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio. If you
were just tuning into the program live, bet Jesus joined
us an hour one. He had the Red Sox plus
three and a half. Right now they are trailing three
two to the Philadelphia Philly. So it's it's looking okay
(57:44):
Brady Quinn, for it looks more than okay. It looks
like he may have a winner tonight. That'd be a first. Yeah,
but you know, I mean that's it's still early early
in the in the in the game, right what is
the top of the fourth Yeah, I mean it's still early.
But you know, it's all about who's that bat right now?
Who cares John Kross? I don't know. I mean though
I think is it Philly? Yeah, yeah, Philadelphia. But they
(58:05):
have a couple couple runners on. Uh yeah, not anymore
because they just they just struck out. So we go
to the bottom half of the fourth inning and the
Red Sox are within three and a half runs, which
is the most important thing about that developing absolutely does
thank you. The dark cloud that is Brady Quinn continues
to shine over the show here on Fox Sports Radio.
(58:25):
But we will continue to carry on here in a
positive manner. Not so positive is the situation Brady Quinn
with Andrew Luck and whatever the hell the injury as. Okay,
So first of all, it started out as like a hangnail,
and then it turned into like a foot cramp, and
then it turned into like plantar fascitis, and then it
rolled all the way up into a knee ache, and
then it was down to a calf strain and then
(58:47):
it turned into a high ankle string. Do we know
for sure what the hell uh the injury is to
the only Amish Man to ever play quarterback in the NFL?
Is it the Amish manners? I thought he likes oranges.
It was fun of it too, but he's got an
obsession with oranges. But no one knows. No one knows
at this point what the injuries. And I think that's
probably the most unnerving thing. And I think that's why
(59:09):
you heard Chris Ballard say August twenty six. By August
twenty six, they would, I think internally, probably more so
than publicly, would like to know who their quarterback's gonna
be moving forward, And they probably won't necessarily announce it,
but I think behind closed doors, they're gonna know who
they're preparing for a Week one of the regular season.
It's either gonna be Jacobi Percet their backup, what's gonna
be Andrew Luck. So that's the hard point. I think,
(59:33):
you know, trying to project what this team could be
if Andrew Luck's healthy and if he's going to be
the guy. To me, they can contend for the AFC,
And that's saying a lot. But I think with the
way this team has progressed over the past two three years,
there's so much further from where they used to be,
and how good they are upfront, and how much better
they've gotten on defense, and how much help they've provided
(59:54):
Andrew Luck that it would be a shame if he
isn't able to impact the season think the way we
all think he's capable of because of whatever injury it is.
So hopefully it's something minor and it's something that you know,
he's one of those types of quarterbacks that's uber concerned
with his mechanics. And I think Frank Reich probably plays
in because he played quarterback and so he understands the
(01:00:16):
mindset behind it and if there's something nagging Andrew Luck,
he knows that as a quarterback, you're subconsciously going to
change your mechanics to not be in pain when you're throwing.
And that's not a good thing because obviously you sort
of change your mechanics, you can become less accurate, you
can stress something else in your body ended up having
issues later on. So you know, maybe he's just being
(01:00:37):
guarded right now before they actually get prepared for the
regular season, or it's something more serious, and if that's
the case, you'd rather them take care of it sooner
rather than later. Let me ask you this, and not
that you would know, but if you were to take
a guess, you think maybe Andrew Luck from time to
time overthinks his health. Maybe. If I had to take
a guess, I would say yes, I think he probably
(01:00:59):
overthinks a lot of things or just overly cautious with it.
But just seeing him how he operates, how he speaks,
how he talks, I think he's a thoughtful guy. I
think he's highly intelligent. But all that being said that
there's that certain dynamic of football where you want the
guy to be a tough guy and you want him
to kind of be simple minded where you just go
(01:01:19):
out there and play. Like Antonio Brown with the helmet issue.
How many people were frustrated with him just saying, dude,
find a helmet, get out on the field, and go
play with your teammates. Right, Yeah, I mean everyone felt
that way. I think it's it's sometimes getting to the
point with Andrew luckhe you're like, it's every offseason where
it's tired of hearing about some sort of injury. Just
get in there, be with your team, and go out
(01:01:41):
there and play if it's something that's not major. And
I think if he doesn't get surgery, it's gonna be
viewed like that. And and so that's the other issue
of it. If they don't know what it is or
it doesn't require surgery, that's that's unfortunately. How's how he's
kind of viewed is is maybe he is mentally psyching
himself out and not that you should believe everything. Jim
Mersey says, But didn't he make that comment about Andrew
(01:02:03):
Luck at at one point about his throwing shoulder. Yeah, Well,
Jim Mercy makes a lot of comments. You see his
Twitter account. Yeah, he sends out, He sends out like
rap lyrics and like random song lyrics throughout the day.
I mean, listen, he's a he's a bizarre guy, likes
to spend a lot of money on like vintage guitars,
and he probably doesn't know how to play. It's just
he's a weird guy. I just say it's a weird
did Jim Mercy is a little bit of an odd bird?
You know? But um, I will say this though, do
(01:02:25):
we know how this injury occurred? Has anybody said how
this injury occurred? Because if it is a high ankle sprain,
if you're a quarterback, how how do you suffer a
high ankle sprain? What do you mean? How do you say?
A bunch different ways? Okay? But like what are you
dropping back? Moving in the pocket? Can be scrambling, running,
doing some sort of drill. Okay, so but okay, I understand.
But if this was like in a team oriented situation,
(01:02:47):
did somebody land on him wrong? Did somebody? I just
I'm wondering how he suffered the injury that has continued
to linger that they just aren't able to identify, or
either they know more and they're just not telling us,
which is what you pointed out last year. With the
shoulder issue. There was a story that came out that
he hadn't thrown the ball on X amount of days,
And you set me straight on the air and said, listen,
(01:03:09):
if you think that Andrew Luck hasn't tried to test
his shoulder at least once with a training staff member
behind closed doors, I mean, you're crazy. And you were
absolutely one hundred percent spot on. They went to the playoffs,
he played really well. All of a sudden he shows
up with it with an ankle injury that was supposed
to be something else, Like, wouldn't they wouldn't they take
extra caution with this guy at this point and not
(01:03:29):
run the risk of him suffering any sort of injury
with training camp coming up. Yeah, you'd think that. But
I mean, I don't know. Maybe he twisted it walking
into his book club or something like that, or or
opening his footphone. I have no idea. I'm just saying lives.
It's hard to tell what it is. This dates back
to I want to say, back in the spring he
was complaining about this, So it could have happened in
(01:03:50):
offseason training. It could have developed at some point, you know,
during OTAs and mini camp. He didn't think it was
serious and it kept nagging him. Then it got worse.
Who knows, I mean honestly, like, unless you're leading me
down to a certain paths, which we talked about the
book club. We talked about the flip phone. Maybe he
slipped on an orange. Is that you're gonna say, I
don't know. Listen, I do not, and what he likes
(01:04:11):
to eat, and where he likes to read, and what
kind of phone he likes to use. I don't have
an issue with. By the way, Dana White still for
interviews on the radio, still does a flip phone because
he says it sounds better than an actual iPhone. That's
what he says. I there's something about closing the flip
phone too. Oh it's so like a power move. Yeah,
you know, it's fun to play with, you know. I
(01:04:31):
think like they used to be don't not as durable now,
but used to be able to like just kind of
flipping back and forth. Yeah, it's great. Once the razor
came out, like it was all I mean, everything was
just kind of like, Uh, I think we've kind of
gotten soft here. We're not gonna get the drop are
with that? I'm looking for what drop? I think you
know what I'm talking about? What drop? I think you
know what I'm talking I don't know what you're talking about.
What the hell you're talking about? All right? All right,
we'll just wait till the break to talk about it,
(01:04:51):
all right. So Brady Quinn Jonas Knocks here on Fox

True cash offer not available in all areas. All right,
So I want to get into what is an interesting
(01:05:36):
discussion in the world of football and something that everybody
looks forward to, Brady Quinn. So we will do that
here momentarily. On Fox Sports Radio, we've been talking a
lot about Andrew Luck, whether or not he's going to
be available week one. Andrew Luck actually spoke earlier today
about his situation. Anybody, this is all right. I would
like to apologize to the Luck family. That was our
(01:06:00):
our production staff trying to take liberties on the fact
that Andrew Luck may look somewhat similar to Andre the Giant.
All right, So okay, now let's really hear from Andrew
Luck regarding his status for week one. Now you're geting me,
and I got it through fired for you there. So
(01:06:20):
I guess, uh, Andrew Luck chewing on peanut butter while
doing interviews nowadays, mouthful mashads, you know, I mean, just
you know, Andrew, that's enough, all right, Go go take
care of yourself, Go get your ankle elevated for God's sakes.
All right. So, Brady Quinn College Football, and I don't
(01:06:43):
know if you've know that notice this or not, but
Brady Quinn is all over your television. He is a
part of the brand new you are brand new college
football on Fox Now the show is called Big Noon Kickoff. Correct, Yes, yeah,
so Big Noon Kickoff on Fox this season, it's gonna
be you, Matt Liner, Reggie Bush, Urban Meyer, Rob Stone.
(01:07:05):
And because of that, Brady Quinn has been appearing all
over the TV and commercials, sit down, cracking jokes, taking
it totally seriously, not trying to hide a laughter while
walking through a cloud of smoke like he's the undertaker
at WrestleMania. And Brady Quinna looking forward to the college
football season. The AP Top twenty five came out this week.
(01:07:27):
Brady Quinn, how about that AP Top twenty five. Yeah,
so there's a lot of top twenty fives that have
come out. There's an AP poll, there's a coach's poll.
It does beg the question, though, why we need these
These polls are irrelevant. We have a College Football Playoff
Committee that then comes out with their poll later on
(01:07:49):
in the season. It will be some point in time
in the month of October, and that's the only pull
up matters because that's the poll that then determines which
four teams will playoff for the national championship. And so
this is what bothers me about it. Like back remember
during the BCS, the old days, right where we have
this formula, Well, you know those those polls factored into
(01:08:10):
that formula and they computed a number, and they came
off the number, and they'd picked the top two teams
to play from the National Championship. Um, these polls are
irrelevant now though. The only thing I think they do,
and it's a bit unfair to some teams out there,
is they create a perception right now. They create the
perception in your mind of who's a top twenty five
(01:08:33):
ranked team and who is not. And there's been countless
examples through the years of teams that are ranked way
too high and they shouldn't be. You know, I don't
even have to look right now, I can I can
probably guess Texas A and M. I'm not even to
look Texas A and M top twenty team, probably a
top fifteen team. Is that is that accurate? Yeah? Okay,
(01:08:54):
do you know what Texas A and M is not
going to be this year? They're not going to be
a top twenty team because they're probably going to have
three or four losses. They play a brutal schedule and unfortunately,
because of strength of schedule and depending on how those
losses go because of their preseason ranking, and depending on
those losses, they're probably gonna be rewarded from them because
(01:09:15):
some athletic director, I don't know, five ten years ago
decided to schedule some teams that were maybe pretty good
or maybe that powerhouse at that time. Although Clemson's not.
I mean this year, they're better than what they were
ten years ago, five years ago, right, And so you
wouldn't have foreseen that or saw that coming, but you
schedule them anyway. So then you throw that on your schedule.
(01:09:35):
Next thing, you know, you're being rewarded for that, even
though you lost. So there's a few issues with it. One,
it creates an an accurate perception in our mind instead
of looking at the games that are actually being played
and then how the outcomes, you know, impact those teams.
And another thing is is you know, it actually excludes
some teams from being able to get up into that
top four. I think Ohio State the first year, I
(01:09:58):
want to say, they might have dropped all way back
to like sixteenth, and I think they were the furthest
team to move all the way up and then they
ended up being number four. And if you'll recall the
first year they went on to win a national championship,
but they barely made it in. It gives you a headstart.
By doing nothing, you get a head start. It's like
being born to wealthy parents, like you immediately have an advantage,
(01:10:21):
regardless of what anybody else wants to say, just based
on where you were born. Because you won the genetic
the genetic pool, you end up in a better position
than somebody else who comes from a less fortunate family.
And that's what these polls are. But you know why
they do it, because the little number next to your
name makes the games early in the season that much
more enticing. Look look at this weekend. Miami and Florida
(01:10:43):
is going to be the game that gets all the buzz. Okay,
Arizona and Hawaii is the nightcapper for week zero as
they call it, and Miami and Florida is going to
get all the buzz. And why is that? Because Florida's
got a little number eight next to their name. You
have seen as many games of Florida as you have
ears on a Hawaii or Miami. But but Florida before
(01:11:03):
the season got a little number next to their name,
So of course that game is going to get a
lot of the pub and because of that, Florida can
get away with more and still stay in contention just
based on a preseason opinion of them, a preseason opinion
that's as as relevant as any other team in the
top one twenty six, just based on what what some
(01:11:24):
writers thought before the year, before the year took place.
I just to that point, it's not fair. It's just
not if it's not fair, how they do it. What's
not fair from from this point too. And we talked
about strength of schedule. Right when we look at you know,
other ranked teams that they play well, especially early on
when we don't have a College Football Playoff Committee ranking,
where do we go off of we go off to
(01:11:45):
hit people. So all of a sudden you start looking
at strength schedule. Well, you know, for example, and I
mentioned Techsana, I'm having to play at Clempson. You know
there's one example. Now, granted that's a tough opponent all that,
but if if for example, Clemson, who's probably gonna have
a really weak schedule. There's only one of the team
that's ranked in the ACC in the top twenty five,
that's Syracuse at twenty two. The ACC is by far
(01:12:06):
the worst conference. With the exception of clubs, he's by
far and away the best and one of the best
teams or maybe the best team in college football. The
issue with it, though, is again, you know they're going
to get credit or brownie points for play in Texas
A and M, and yet Texas and M at some
point we'll drop towards the back of the top twenty five,
and they'll probably be ranked and awarded for playing a
tough schedule, and it will be included in that even
(01:12:27):
though they might not actually be deserving of being a
top twenty five team. I saw it happened when I
was working in South Carolina College of Charleston, which was
the local team in Charleston. South Carolina upset number five
North Carolina in basketball and they called it the biggest
upset in the history of Charleston sports. And we were
all over it. And because North Carolina was ranked number
(01:12:49):
five at the time and it was early in the season,
it was the biggest upset of the year by far,
And what ended up happening is a year went on.
Guess what you found out. North Carolina stinks. They were
just overrated. They stunk. But because there was a little
number next to their name and made it seem like
it was this epic win when the reality was people
just got it wrong to start off with. So I
(01:13:09):
think you have to take a step back and look
later on in the year, not only who they were
when you played them, but who they ended up being.
And I don't think that's factored in enough with some
of these late season developments when it comes to rankings
and playoffs and all that. No, no, And again it's
something that you know, the NFL doesn't have to use
a preseason ranking, right, Yeah, they played the games. They
(01:13:31):
determine who's gonna going into the playoff based on that,
and granted, you have way more teams in college football,
I get that, So you have to come up with
some system. And maybe that's one of the reasons why
you can call for an expansion to the playoff. And
I think eventually they'll get there. But for the time being,
with not having that, why do you need to put
anything next to them? You know, wait until the rankings
that matter come out. To me, I think it's a
(01:13:52):
formality of something that they've always used, and it's something
that they always do. But if you don't think coaches
have an agenda when they're going about between the rank,
of course, you're nuts. And if you don't think ap
folks have an agenda, right, they know the ranking comes out.
You don't think that most people in the South are
biased and they think the SEC is the best conference.
Of course, News flash, it's not. There's seven teams in
the Big Ten that are ranked in the top twenty five.
(01:14:14):
It's actually the best conference right now in college football.
It's the deepest, there's the most parody. You know, do
they have that the top echelon team like an Alabama. No.
But don't be fooled by thinking the SEC West is
bigger than the Big Ten East. It's not. He's Brady Quinn.
I'm Jonas Knox is Fox Sports Radio. We are coming
to you alive from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios

Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

iHeart Radio app. It is the odd couple here on
Fox Sports Radio. That guy over there is Rady Quinn.
I'm Jonas Knox in for Rob Parker and Chris Brussard.
Coming up in ten minutes from now here on FSR.
There is a story in the NFL, a story that
is getting more and more attention, and I think I
know why it's happening, right, so we will have that
(01:15:16):
for you ten minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio.
UM so we also need to get to this, uh,
this story in the NFL regarding uh, the whereabouts of
a certain someone for one NFL team. I just realized
I haven't eaten today, Brady Quinn, just really really part
of your intermit and fasting deal that you usually do.
Uh yeah, but I just, uh, I don't. I just
(01:15:38):
it's coming up on six o'clock on the West Coast scenario,
as I have not eaten once today, not once, not
so bunch of water water. I had a coffee, you
had a coffee, a hydrolyzed little protein mix in like
six ounces of water and then right no, because it's
I mean, it's it's something. Yeah, it's it's thing but
(01:16:00):
a meal. It was six ounces six ounces of water
and then uh, and then also I had some bcaa's,
you know, amino acids. Yeah. I don't know that that
does much for you if you take it an empty stomach, man. Yeah, uh,
honest with you. Fair point. Um, So I will maybe
maybe be allowed to eat at some point here on
the show. I'd love to you. I would love to
(01:16:20):
be able to eat at some point. I probably eat
at on an orange bell pepper or something. Yeah, I
have one of those in my bag. Yeah, it's kind
of weird. I do if the squash in your bag
as well? Uh, you mean the baby carrot? Yeah, you
mean the baby carrot is what you're referring to. Yeah,
I can use for you foul. If there was a
kids section at the produce aisle, you know who would
(01:16:44):
be relating to? All right, So Brady Quinn, Melvin Gordon,
Who's showing up week one? Uh? More likely to show
up week one? Melvin Gordon, Zeke or Andrew Locke. Who's
most most likely to be available one to play Melvin,
Zeke or Luck this NFL season? Yeah, I think Zeke
(01:17:06):
potentially have a contract by then. I think labor Dad
happens for whatever is Andrew Luck I think will be
starter week one, and Melvin Gordon will not be back
with the Chargers unless he just completely folds, which I
don't think it's gonna happen. I think he's gonna hold strong.
You think Melvin Gordon's gonna actually like take this all
the way to the extreme and just no longer be
(01:17:28):
a member of the Bolts. I do to some degree,
And the reason being is I think when you listen
to him talk and people who have monitored his social
media account will talk about how he's constantly looking at
other running backs players getting paid, talking about, you know,
resetting the market at that position. He wants to do
(01:17:49):
that for the running back position. And he's going to
the last year of his deal. Different situations than Zeke. Right,
Zeke's still in a contract for two years, doesn't have
quite as much leverage in that in that respect, whereas
Melvin Gordon does because he is a year away from
potential getting to free agency if it was to sit
out the whole year, depending on how this would all
work out, So you know, it's it's gonna be interesting
(01:18:09):
to see how how this will work with the Chargers.
I think he's got a fair deal on the table,
but I don't know they's gonna get more than that.
All right, all right, well let me ask you this,
who's more likely to be there week one for the Chargers,
Melvin Gordon or that security guard who was shuffling his
own deck a few years ago. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and
(01:18:30):

Happy National Radio Day. Yeah, man, that's what it is. Man.
We gotta keep pumping it up, keep talking about it.
We could just make up anything. As far as national days,
(01:19:15):
I'm telling will hashtag anything, right, Is there like a
National IPA Day? It was like they have one of those? Yet? Dude,
why do you get into this. I'm just white questions
or the white clause that the hard seltzers, that's what
it's about. Now they're killing the IPA business white clause.
I'm just telling you it's it's you can't stop it.
I'd rather you can only hope to contain it. In fact,
(01:19:36):
all right, hold on a second, let's go live to
our Is there a National IPA Day? Insider Robert Guerre
for the latest Robert, that's right, August six, gentlemen National Day?
Yeah right, yeah, so so it was literally so irrelevant
that no one even knew it would existed. Well, I mean,
(01:19:57):
that's one way to look at it. I would look
at it as the down is on. In August six,
we are now like three hundred and fifty something days
until until National IPA Day. Is that how many days? Yeah?
Something like that. I listen, I'm just a math question.
Next year, a leap year. What do we got going?
I don't know, who knows? Who knows it's an extra
day's who get and furthermore, who cares? And the way
(01:20:19):
this show's gone, we're not going to be invited back,
So let's just enjoy the time we have here. Brady Quinn,
as we open up the show. Earlier, we were talking
about the Jimmy Garoppolo blowback. So Jimmy Garoppolo did not
play well on Monday Night Football. Several reasons behind it,
but biggest reasons in your mind that Jimmy Garoppolo struggled
(01:20:39):
on Monday Night were what I think, just lack of
being in that that specific scenario. It's been a while,
and look, I've I've come off injuries or like coming
back from a concussion. Um, you're you're always a little
bit kind of hesitant, thinking of yourself, how am I
going to handle the first hit? You know, you're you're
a little bit concerned about, you know, people rolling up
on your leg or falling into you. I mean, it's
(01:21:02):
a real thought and concern. And I know that wasn't
how he hurt his knee, but you can't help when
you actually get out there in a live game scenario
on the road and you're going up against two of
the best edge rushers for those thoughts not to be
running through the back of your mind. And obviously the
start of the game didn't help. I mean, well, it
was his second pass attempt maybe that ended up getting intercepted.
(01:21:24):
I want to say his first one got tipped. I
mean it just it wasn't a good start to it,
and so it only goes downhill from there, and he
never really could have a chance because he only got
six attempts to really even regain his composure to see
him come back out of it. So to me, it
had a lot to do. I think just with him
just knocking some of that rust off of the injury,
(01:21:46):
it just gained confidence back in his ability to be
out there and play and fuel back to one hundred percent.
And also the fact that he was dealing with Vic Fangio,
who's one of the better defensive coordinators in the league now,
the head coach of the right. You really like hyping
it up because he came from Chicago. Well, now, he
came from San Francisco, San Francisco night right, right Chicago
(01:22:07):
last year. No, I'm just just pointing out a big
Fangio and I because here's the thing, because he's Fango's
actually game planning for a week to the Well, I'm
but but it's a mindset. It's a mindset there right
in Denver that he's presenting to the team and Vic
Fangio being obviously Italian, I know you're in laws are Italian.
I figured it's a way, it's a way to make it,
make you make the show rap its arms around you
(01:22:29):
here on Fox Sports Radio. Just a little bit more,
Just a little bit more. So we have some context
to this story. Can I tell you why I think
that Jimmy Garoppolo is getting all this blowback because Dak
Prescott wants a new contract and Jimmy Garoppolo is now
taken on the roll of Well look at what that
guy is making, and you don't think Dak deserves more.
This is what's happening. So so Jimmy Garoppolo is going
(01:22:50):
to get the criticism. He originally got criticism because he
went on a date with a porn star. And we
know why that happened. One I don't know criticized for that. Well,
some people have all, you shouldn't be seen out in
public with a porn star? Why not? What's what's the
problem honestly, got what's the problem if she was a
porn star, or she made balloon animals or was a
(01:23:11):
ventriloquist passing judgment? Right, Oh, what's he doing in his
private time? Idea? Yeah? I mean, and guess what, there's
a multi billion dollar industry that nobody wants to speak
about that's going on, and she happens to be a
part of it. And if Jimmy Garoppolo wants to partake,
big deal. He was getting heat originally because he was
(01:23:33):
a patriot, and when you're a patriot, you're labeled as
filling the blank with all of that that goes along
with it. He goes out with a porn star, he
gets paid maybe a little bit too early, But nonetheless,
you've told me about this, and we've talked about on
our Sunday night show. He's got a real skill set,
right you knowing the quarterback position, like he does things
that other quarterbacks can't do. No, he's got his beautiful
(01:23:55):
release and as quick of a release as you'll find.
What about his arm, Well that too, and the quick
release started with that day with the porn star, and
then it got better after that. Yeah, but he's okay.
Here's the the evolution of all this. He gets blamed
for it because he capitalized off and kind of fell
(01:24:17):
into a lucky situation, right, Like, Let's be honest, if
the New England Patriots had kept him, and let's say
they moved on from Tom Brady, let's just sit that
scenario played out, Okay, he wouldn't have been making as
much money. He would have had to follow suit with
Tom Brady. That would have been the expectation. Jimmy Garoppolo
has the same agent as Tom Brady, don ye, and
(01:24:38):
I think it's Scott or Steve Dubin. And so if
that's the case, like he actually lucked out by getting
traded to then have an opportunity to be the guy
in San Francisco that year, and he really didn't know
much of the offense when he first got there, but
he won what his first four or five starts, whatever
it was, and then everyone's on the hype train, right
(01:24:59):
and a little did we realize that he really wasn't
running Kyle Shanahan's offense at that point. Kyle Shanahan, who's
a beautiful, wonderful offensive mine in the NFL. You know,
he wasn't running his system yet because he hadn't been
there long enough to actually digest it and do all
the things they wanted to do. Last year was really
the first indication that Kyle Shanahan and the forty nine
(01:25:20):
ers had of him running the system, operating it the
way he wants to. And really, Kyle Shanahan wants you
to be a robot, and he wants you to go
out there and execute the way he dials things up. Because,
to be quite honest, he's one of the best in
the game. I know he hasn't had a lot of
success winning games, but go back and watch the film
of him grabbing Nick Mullins off the street, plugging him
(01:25:40):
into a uniform and a helmet, slapping him out there
as the starting quarterback, and winning a couple of football
games and producing. Not many guys can do that. And
so what's happened is after the injury, now we've seen another,
you know, offseason where he's been able to kind of
grow and adapt and it's gonna take some time before
they ultimately feel comfortable with him. But he's a byproduct
of timing and the fact that he was lucky enough
(01:26:02):
to get traded to a team that when he was
going into his final year needed a franchise quarterback. He
lucked out played his own game, which is, you know
he's not a risk taker, but you know he could
kind of create. He can kind of do some some
creative things too. That was able to capitalize off that
into a big contract, and now he's being blamed for
it after missing a good portion of last year because
(01:26:24):
he tore his acl like, you shouldn't blame him for
capitalizing on it. Unfortunately for Dak he's not in a
position to until now. And now it comes down to
whether or not he wants to accept the offer from
the Cowboys or keep trying to push the envelope to
see if you get closer to free agency, or making
them slap the franchise dad. There's two sides to every coin,
and not only sports, but in life. In sports, though,
(01:26:47):
when you look at for every DeMarcus Cousins or an
Isaiah Thomas who are on the verge of a big
payday and an injury derails him and they end up
not being able to ever get that big payday, there's
guys like Jimmy Garoppolo who just came available at the
right time in the right situation, and he took advantage
of it, and the forty nine ers did what. If
(01:27:08):
you talk to most teams around the NFL or executives,
they always say, you know, get to it early, pay
him early, because it's only going to get more expensive.
And that's what they did. And it's it's not just
to pretend like Jimmy Garoppolo didn't suffer a major major
injury a year ago. It was him trying to make
a play. And I remember at the time there were
a lot of people that even criticized him. Just run
(01:27:28):
the ball out of bounds, you know, take the ball
out of bounds, man, So God forbid. The guy tried
to make a play with his feet in a game that, yes,
was out of hand, but he still wanted to try
and make a play and his knee collapse and he
suffered multiple tears to multiple ligaments, and so he's trying
to get back on track and it was his first
game action. The idea that that's just all of a sudden,
the representation of Jimmy Garoppolo being an overrated player, you
(01:27:51):
just can't do that. There's enough there that the forty
nine ers, who are run by smart people saw this
as an opportunity to get a guy at what going
to end up being a reasonable rate if he produces
the way that they think he's going to at a price.
But now everybody's doing the comparison game and he can't
do it because it's two completely different situations between him
and Dak. The couple thoughts, So the San Francisco forty
(01:28:13):
nine ers contract guy is one of the best. I mean,
it really is one of the best. So you know,
they're not attached to a player for long and really
after this year they can get out from the Jimmy
Garoppolo contracts. So it's a big year for him to
prude himself to the organization. But the reason why they
paid him the first place is this. The NFL pays
for potential. They pay for potential. They don't pay a
(01:28:37):
guy just because he's been durable and he's been there.
That's the problem with Dak. If we're being honest with ourselves,
as it's Jimmy Garoppolo or a better quarterback when he's
healthy and playing at his best. Yes, yes, we all
know that his ability to get rid of the football
as quick as he can and the ability to spin
it the way he can is better than Dak Prescott's
(01:28:59):
ability to do. So, Now, Dak's a better runner, he's
more durable, you know, maybe more of a team guy,
whatever you want to say to compliment Dak. But the
bottom line is, and this is the same conversation you're
gonna have with Car about Carson Wentz is Carson Wentz
hasn't been as durable. But for the times we've seen
him play at his highest level, he's played at a
higher level than Dak Prescott. His high has been higher
(01:29:21):
than Dak's high. And so you pay him for his
potential because you know he can potentially be better. And
same thing with Jimmy Garoppolo. And so for the people
who are all frustrated about it, unfortunately that's life in
the NFL, that's life in most businesses. And he forgets sports.
I mean, how many times do you see kids who
come out of better colleges get paid more? Why because
(01:29:43):
they think there's the potential that they're smarter, they're gonna
be able to do more. That's how that all works.
People get paid off potential. And yes, eventually you get
rewarded for you know, ten year and durability and everything
else that you do, but for the most important life,
you're paid and rewarded for what you can do is
superior to everyone else that potential. And also, this doesn't
(01:30:06):
mean that Dak doesn't deserve thirty something million dollars. He does.
I hope Dad gets it. He's earned that. But when
Jimmy Garoppolo was up for a contractor they were having
discussions about it, he got a big contract based on
to your point, potential. It's why I make more money
than you because of potential. You're better at this than
I am. But because of my potential and because of
(01:30:28):
my sky's the limit reputation, that's why I make so
much more than you do. Rady Quinn, that's correct. I
mean usually we don't air this kind of stuff on
live radio, but you, my friend, that I've chosen to
take that path. I'll gladlyast it's a national radio day
co sign with you. There's a lot of potential there.
There's a lot of hot a lot of potential. Yeah.
(01:30:51):
By the way, you can hear that potential on weekend
Overnights with the Drunks here on Fox Sports radios, where
you can hear that potential. But nonetheless Dak's gonna get paid.
But it's this is how it's done. People start comparing contracts.
Jimmy Garoppolo had a bad performance. How long when do
you get worried? All right, last thought on Jimmy Garoppolo.
(01:31:13):
At what point do you start to get worried that
this isn't just a all right, he's working back into
things and maybe he's fallen into some bad habits and
it's not working there. I don't think that's gonna be
the case. I think what we what I'm worried about
is the team out around him. Like I said, they've
got a guy at center in Ben Garland, who I mean,
God bless him. He's he's he's one of the hardest workers.
(01:31:33):
He's a smart guy. Like I said, he's you know,
went to school at Air Force. But he's a converted
defensive lineman too offensive lineman, and he's he's trying to
play a position that's incredibly difficult to do, and at
least that's the position he was put in for this
past game. And so I don't know how the protection
is going to be for him and for a guy
who really is mobile enough to hurt you outside of
(01:31:55):
the pocket, but needs protection. You know he can't. You
can't subject him to that every single week and expect
him not to get balls batted. And there's one knock
on Jimmy Garoppolo. I would say it's it's his deep ball.
It doesn't have the strongest star and he spins it
well and he could stretch the field vertically. But when
you go back and watch the majority of his games,
(01:32:16):
balls are up and down in their cot within twenty
yards a majority of them. He's not heaving a bunch
of these balls downfield and stretching the field in that way.
So if that's the case, teams are gonna start squatting
on him. Teams are gonna look to try to get
their hands up to back down balls because they know
it's come out of his hand quick and those sorts
of issue will play apart. So the Lion's got to
do their part getting the hands down, protecting them up
(01:32:37):
so they can take those shots. But it's really the
supporting cast I think I'm more concerned by and really
him staying healthy. It's it's no habits as nothing else
he does. He's very sound as a quarterback. It's whether
or not he can make it through sixteen games because
he couldn't in spot work when he was a backup
in New England, and he hasn't so far in San Francisco.
That's the other big concern for him is really just
(01:32:59):
the health. Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports
Radio in for the Odd Couple, Rob Parker, Chris Brussard

all the way up until ten pm Eastern time here
on FSR. Coming up in about ten minutes from now
here on Fox Sports Radio. We've got a little something
we do on the show called the Scraps where we
get to uh get to some things that we have
(01:34:04):
not had a chance to talk about here on Fox
Sports Radio. So that'll be coming up here about ten
minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio. So now,
Brady Quinn, we talked about, first of all, how are you.
By the way, You've been doing a lot of radio today.
It is National Radio Day and Brady Quinn has been
all over the place on National Radio Day. That's why
I'm doing so much radio Jonas, because I knew it
(01:34:25):
was National Radio Day. I was like, is it possible
to do twenty four seven twenty four hours straight of radio? Well,
I shouldn't say twenty four twenty four hours straight, right,
I couldn't make it seven days. That's all right, listen,
look and you've you've done a phenomenal job Brady Quinn here.
Although I feel like we had a major disagreement on
the Baker Mayfield Daniel Jones comments, um, you you destroyed
(01:34:50):
Baker Mayfield on the air. I supported him because that's
what I do with Clear. I don't know that I've
destroyed him. I just said, look, you're gonna talk to
Q you maybe should you know, be aware that they
may constoret take some things out of context from time
to time. Yeah. Last year, Yeah no, And that does happen.
Now Here's why I bring that one up though, because
(01:35:11):
his teammate, Odell Beckham Junior um was also in the
news because Odell Beckham Junior had a sit down interview
with Sports Illustrated and he talked about the trade that
sent him to the Cleveland Browns from the New York Giants.
And here was the quote in the Sports Illustrated article. Again,
(01:35:33):
I did what a lot of people don't do, and
I actually clicked to look for the original article. Didn't
just take whoever wrote the headlines opinion on what he said.
And and Odell Beckham went on to say this, Um,
he claims to know that the Giants received better offers
and still chose to send him to Cleveland out of spite,
hoping to stay in his career with the enduring stigma
(01:35:56):
that comes with playing for the Browns. Quote from Odell Beckham.
This is a quote. This wasn't no business move. This
was personal. They thought they'd send me here to die.
End quote. The Giants declined to comment on his claims.
The hell's he talking about? For starters? Sending the Cleveland
to die? Like, what what kind of statement are you making?
(01:36:18):
That about clear hitting the case? I mean, it's kind
of drastics. It would be like if your wife said, look,
don't tell me all I care about his looks, I'm
married to you. What the hell's that supposed to mean? What?
What is that supposed to mean? I like, I just
said he's In fact, I don't know that there's a
better situation in the NFL forum than the Cleveland Browns,
(01:36:42):
an up and coming team, a young quarterback you could
be attached to for years to come, and a fan
base that will love you. Yes, that's gonna literally welcome
you with open arms and love you your antics, the dramatic,
whatever it is, they'll love you for it. So I'm
not sure why you raids it that way. I don't
know why he's still talking about the Giants. I mean,
(01:37:04):
the Giants sure Seck aren't talking about him, and they've
got plenty of issues at the wide receiver position, right,
Golden Tate's suspended for four games. Strong Shepherd should be
back week one, but you know he was dealing with
what is a broken thumb or whatever's on one of
his hands. So you know they're they're thin and wide
receiver and they're Lacke's some playbakers. You don't hear David
Getman and Pat Summer crying about not having Odell Beckham
(01:37:26):
and being, oh gosh, it's got us like John Gruden
last year, like if we only could get a pass rush, Like, yeah, dude,
you traded away Kleio Mack, like we get it, Like
you don't. You don't hear them talking about that. They're
glad he's not there anymore. He's he's the only one
who's heartbroken about it, and he keeps talking about it
for god knows what reason. I mean at this point,
(01:37:47):
move on, man, Like you know, for the Baker Mayfield
conversation we had, like even if you wanted to agree
and say, he made some comments that he probably shouldn't have. Yeah, right,
but he's young and he's going to those second year
in the league. Like he's still a young man, relatively
young and new to this business. Right, Odell Beckham's not.
He's been around for a while now, he should he
(01:38:09):
should know just to move on, man, Like it's not personal,
it's business. You're the only one who's taking things personal
at this point. Move on and play football. I think
the only thing's missing with him is him having a
helmet issue. Otherwise we're probably be having the same conversations
about him like we are Antonio Brown. Yeah, and Odell
Beckham has said this offseason, oh you know, I'm past it.
(01:38:30):
I'm past all this. And then this comes up. It's
like your buddy telling you, hey, man, I swear to
got him over Megan. It's been like six months, totally
over and you go over to pick him up from
his house and on his wall in his room is written,
I hate Megan in his own blood like that that
ought to tell you now he's probably not over Megan yet.
Odell Beckham won't let it go, like thanks, thanks for
painting that picture. That's it's radio and because it's a
(01:38:51):
national radio day, you know you got a Picasso this
place a little bit, you know, you got to add
a little bit of color, a little bit of flavor,
if you will. It needs to pop when it comes
through the eye phone, I art radio app or on
any of our wonderful Fox Sports radio apphiliates. That's how
it's done. That's the art of radio, Brady Quinn, That's
how it's done well. But it's also this, So he says, Okay,
(01:39:13):
you know, I don't want to talk about it anymore
or whatever. So clearly he's not over because he won't
stop bringing it up. But then then this to your point,
you were at a place now to where they they
are so happy to have been seven eight and one
last year that there. This is the most excited the
Browns fans have been in a long long time. In
fact that the last season they had anywhere close to
(01:39:33):
this was when you were with the Browns, when you
guys were at ten and six, I believe in two
thousand and seven. Yeah, and so the fan base is crazy.
They're gonna love you there. Your best friend is playing
on the team, You've got your contract, you've already been paid. Like,
I don't know that I can find a better spot
for Odell Beckham to have landed than in Cleveland. So
(01:39:54):
when he says this, I think he might be insane. Honestly,
I think I think he's crazy to think that he
could end up anywhere else that would give him outside
of New England everything that he could ask for. With
the Cleveland Browns, I don't understand it. Well. The funny
thing is, and there's been multiple reports on this, he
kind of talked about how the Giants passed up better
offers to send him to Cleveland. And look, I don't
(01:40:18):
know if it's his agent who's saying this stuff to
him or not. Mike Garofolo has come out from NFL
dot Com and he said, there's no truth to that.
For the offers that were made for this past year,
you know, the Browns made the best offer. And it
doesn't make any sense too. If you're the New York Giants,
why wouldn't you want to take the best offer, you know,
(01:40:38):
regardless of what are their organization that went to Why? Why?
It just it doesn't make any sense. For the position
the Giants are in with a second year head coach,
a second year general manager who is looking to rebuild
now around their future at quarterback in Daniel Jones, why
would they take less of an offer just to send
Odell Beckham to Cleveland. Like, none of that even makes
sense that it's not true, but yeah, it's the stuff
(01:41:00):
that he's perpetually putting out there because he wants to
create that narrative. Like I don't know if he wants
people to feel bad for him or what it is,
but dude, move on, go play football like you're in
a great situation on a really good team. There's so
much optimism there. Feed into that. Stop wasting your energy
back on the New York Giants. He's Brady Quin. I'm

Coming up in we'll call it fifteen minutes from now
(01:42:06):
here on Fox Sports Radio. Um, somebody has responded to
some criticism they got by many members of the NFL media, right,
so we'll keep that a little bit of a surprise,
Brady Quinn. But somebody, a very well known figure in
the NFL has responded. So that'll be coming up fifteen
(01:42:27):
minutes from now on Fox Sports Radio. Right now, though,
it's time for a little something we do on the
show called this, Jonas, how could you not get to
these stories? Are the scraps? All right? And here we go.
It is the scraps. Ralph Irvin for some reason, gets
his own music underneath the scraps. This is from the
(01:42:48):
Cannonball Run. This song sucks, Ralph, Like, why, Like, isn't
there a better song from the Cannonball Run that we
could use? This is the opening music. You're the one
who I did not choose this. You and in fact,
you went behind the scenes to get it changed. You
chose it, all right? What have we gotten, Ralph? Well,
we've talked about Ezekiel Elliott and his contract, talked about
(01:43:09):
Jalen Smith and his contract extension. But there is other
news with the Dallas Cowboys. Amari Cooper likely out for
the rest of the preseason with a heal injury he
suffered a training camp in Oxnard. He's calling it a
form of planner fasciitis, says he should be good to
go for the season opener September eighth against the Giants.
Planar fasciitis is miserable. Oh, I mean, that's not gonna
bode well from the rest of the season. It does
(01:43:31):
beg the question, though, if he was offered a contract
to be in the top five of the wide receiver position,
that's another one that I would think about accepting it.
I mean. The only reason I say that is I
would not put him amongst probably the top five when
you think about some of the other guys and the
way they've produced. Not top ten. I don't think he's
top ten. Well. I think if he plays up to
his capabilities, We've seen that, We've seen him flash that before,
(01:43:54):
but definitely not if he's born about an injury too.
Planar fascitis takes four verda heel like and aren't you
doing with it right now? Yeah? I'm finally starting to
get over it. The problem is you just you need
to rest your feet and that's almost impossible to do,
especially if you're a wide receiver. Tim Duncan had had
issues with planner fasci itis and they've said that, Um,
(01:44:17):
some players play through it and continue to grind and grind.
And remember Katino Mobile told me he threw an alley
oop to Steve Frances in a game and when Frances
came down, he actually tore his planner fascia, like literally
tore it. And um, it's it's awful. So and no
one's a fan of that, I mean besides Rex Ryan,
but no one else feel sick. I know you don't. Rex,
(01:44:39):
come on, let's be honest. By the way, I've heard
reports at Rex Ryan back when he was coaching for
the Bills, was seen by Niagara Falls sprang odor eaters
in his mouth. Um, that's over, Rex. Maybe it is
a little bit accurate. Um, like it was Banaca. So
(01:45:00):
I don't know. How's that even a foot fetish, that's
something more of the center. Just that's gross. There's something
wrong with it. A little doctor shoals a little uh,
like you don't use foot you don't use foot spray.
Don't you spray your shoes. I don't need to. I
washed my feet. Oh your shoes don't smell. It's a
little you're washing them and I washed my feet. Okay,
(01:45:21):
your feet smell. That's all right, man, all right, that's right.
People's feet in my mind don't because I actually yet
badge people spraining my breath doesn't smell. But they don't
wash their teeth. They just chew gum. Like, no, you
need to brush your teeth, use some mouth wash floss.
You actually have to go through the process of wash
grad and your floss. And look, you got to use
(01:45:43):
a plaques. You you gotta get loosen all the stuff
up beforehand and then brush and uh yeah, I totally
agree with you. I hear you. Man. What else we got?
Ralph Well? Way back in nineteen eighty six, the Sun
Bowl and O Passo became the first Bowl game to
have a title sponsor. John Hancock stepped up actually save
the Bowl game from extend. Well, they just ended their
eight year run with Hundi and the new sponsor is
(01:46:06):
that's right, guys, I'm proud to introduce you to the
Tony the Tigers Sun Bowl, for Christ's sakes, they can't
find a better sponsor. It's getting to the point where
if if you're a university you go to one of
those bowls, I mean you're excited about the bowl, gifts
and all that, but I mean that are you are
you excited about? Well not not if you are something
(01:46:29):
they think it pretty cool stuff sometimes, but it's just
the name of the bowl almost embarrasses you, you know,
it really does. It almost embarrasses you to go to
that sort of bowl game like the mine Key Car
Care Bowl, right, remember that one, right? Yeah? The Craft
Fight Hunger Bowl, Yeah, the Del Taco Bowl, you remember,
Like there's all sorts of just awful, awful bowl name.
(01:46:49):
What was the worst bowl name game that you ever
played in, Brady Quinn, Yeah, it wouldn't have been one
of the BCS games. It would probably been the Insight Bowl,
which we went to my sophomore year. And the best
part and in retrospect, I learned a lesson here. We
had to vote as a team to decide if we
were gonna go or not. And then after we got
our butts kicked and granted we were playing with an
(01:47:11):
arum head coach, our coaching staff was moving on, and
it was very apparent when they were not paying attention
to us in practice. But I learned a lesson, like,
if you have to vote, you're probably not all in,
Like you're probably not going for the right reasons. I mean, like,
wouldn't you go, though, if you were going to travel
somewhere and you're not gonna have to pay for it,
wouldn't you just go and give us get ripped every
(01:47:33):
night before the bowl game? Who cares? If you know? Anyways,
as luck would have it, a lot of the people
who probably were on that team that year did do
that that entire trip because there was no bed check
and uh yeah again the coaches weren't really around. They're
looking for their jobs. Okay, So so did you partake
in any of that boozage? Maybe the first couple of nights? Good?
You know, good vide? What else we got? Ralph Well?
(01:47:57):
Ronda Rousy no longer UFC or WW Champion was filming
a episode of the Fox show nine one one, and
while she almost lost her finger as a boat door
fell on her hand during a take, she said she
went through the take without even looking at it, but
then told the director and was rushed to a hospital.
She posted a picture of the bloody finger hanging up
(01:48:18):
on Instagram. Yeah it's nasty, basically her fingers running a
corner out. It's disgusting. She does a good chemeric impression. Yeah,
it's really goods so she she doesn't hurt herself. It
doesn't lose any limbs fighting both real and in fake right,
the UFC, the WWE. Right. Yet often the filming of
(01:48:40):
a TV show almost loses a digit. Yeah, it's like, well,
like Jeremy Renner, what was the name of that movie?
Tag you have to see that movie? Tag Jeremy Renner.
I don't see saw saw the previous. Yeah, that movie stunk,
by the way, Um so did you see it? Yeah?
Yeah I did. Okay, I put money in his pocket things. Yeah,
well listen, but I also put money in uh, in
a couple of IPA company's pockets, because I had three
(01:49:01):
or four during the movie. He had to, because that's
the only way I could tolerate it. So Jeremy Renner
during the filming of that movie broke both his arms,
so he had two casts on in the movie. But
they did like CGI or whatever to make it look
like he really had arms and he did it because
he was doing a couple of stunts about that. Is
that kind of like Quin from Jaws? It is? Yeah,
(01:49:24):
it is. Yeah. They actually Yeah when Jaws when he
got bitten half by Jaws. That's a real scene like
that was a real, real scene from Jazz. There no
doubt about it. I thought you'd get there first. I
did too, Ralph. We got anything else there? Oh, yeah,
of course we do. We've got one more from well
from Brady, State of Florida. Oh, here we go, Florida News. Brady.
(01:49:47):
That's where a man was jogging in his neighborhood and
open the park in Broward County, and he stumbled across
a bulk trash pile in front of a vacant home.
There was a man already going through the trash. The
jogger found a heavy duty dump cart decided to take it.
The other man got upset, saying he had first writes
to it. The jogger went home and the guy followed him,
(01:50:09):
carrying a sword, and he began swinging the sword at him,
trying to wrestle the cart away. The jogger left the
cart in his yard when a woman came and took
it and dragged it away. Investigators believe the woman and
the man with the sword might be in cahoots. So
so a trash pile, a guy removed an item from there.
(01:50:32):
Somebody else who wanted that out of the trash pile
followed him home with a sword. Yep, was the sword
also from the trash pile. No, in fact, he thought
it was just a red stick, but it was actually
a sword that had yet to be unsheathed. Jesus, and
then it was and yes, it was a sword, a
sword yet to be unsheathed. Very European of him. Um,
(01:50:52):
this is uh so, Brady, what is with your state
man and the five o'clock news here? It is must
see TV. You will not believe the crap that goes on.
It is. I don't know if it's just too much sun,
if it's the heat and humidity being close to the equator.
I have no idea what it is. But the craziest
(01:51:13):
stuff happens down here and it gets reported upon because well,
that's part of the state. I think it's the method
the alcohol. I was going to say to me, but
that's everywhere. Let's be honest, Ralph. If you think there's
a problem in Florida. Check out some of the other
places in the Midwest. Tell me about it. Man, you
just walk around not far from the studio. If you
(01:51:33):
just walk around and go hey, mathadict, like fifty guys
will turn around. Like it's a very weird development here
at I mean, the one thing, like we have those
sorts of news stories, but we don't have any problem
with human feces like in San Francisco, for example. Yeah,
cubed feces, just stuff lying around everywhere. Hey, it's hard
not to step in it. Yeah, everybody's listening. Everybody's got something.
(01:51:56):
Everybody's got something pretty qun you know, festy fairly swords
all right, all right, Yeah, let's play it. You guys
fight over that. Yeah, we will. We will definitely do that,
all right. So thank you, Ralph. That is this edition

(01:53:26):
so Jerry Jones? He said yeah, He said, zeke u
and uh and Apuli zeke and his agent were really
really bothered by it. Yeah, they're not a fan of that.
There's no joking around with these negotiation, absolutely not. Yeah, definitely,
God forbid anybody bust balls in this day and age.
God forbid. But Jerry Jones has responded. This came a
(01:53:49):
short time ago. Here was the Cowboys owner on the
blowback he got for his commentary and his comment saying, Zeku,
I've earned the right with Zeke to joke period, Right,
I've earned it. Have you got any conversations then at all? No? No,
let me be real clear about it. I've earned that
(01:54:09):
ride to joke spot on. Like the fact that he
can't make it a joke like that every that everybody
knows as a joke and he actually got criticism for
it is ridiculous. That told what an overblown story? Negotiation
or not, that's ridiculous. Has he not stuck his neck
out for Zeke Elliott and defend kidding every single time?
(01:54:32):
And doesn't he sign his paychecks? Yes, Like, look, he's
his superior. He's the guy who signs and makes it.
Gives you the millions that you're scheduled to make this year?
What's he gonna make? Six point two millions something like that. Yeah,
if you were to play under the contract that of
course he's holding out for more money. Yeah, five or
six something like that, but around that, around that range.
(01:54:52):
So you know, you're you're sitting there saying yourself like,
come on, man, you know there's there's no reason to
act and then try to make this more contentious than
it needs to be. I mean, I think everyone understands
Zeke's one of the best running backs. He wants a
new contract. Okay. The problem is, and we've talked about
this at length. You know, he's two years yet from
(01:55:13):
his contract being over, and he's a first round draft pick,
so he'll be compensated pretty well, not this year but
the following year. And and it's you know, it's tough
obviously for a team with all the decisions they have
to make to be able to, you know, make sure
they handle everyone, especially a guy who's you know, doing
it a year probably before they thought he would do
something like this. So um, you know, for him to
say he's he's aren't the right There's no doubt about it.
(01:55:35):
Like they have defended him, they drafted him, they've paid him,
they're going to pay him I mean, there's there's no
reason to make this a bigger deal than it needs
to be, just because you're you're not getting what you
want right now, and you're acting a little bit childish
if you actually are frustrated by you know, Jerry Jones
trying to make light of the situation. Yeah, And here's
(01:55:56):
the thing. The fact that he got upset about something
like that with the way to Paul Allard has rushed
the ball just tells me that maybe he is a
little bit insecure about where his standing is, or maybe
the negotiation isn't going the way that he thought it
was going to go. Jerry Jones went to the wall
for the six game suspension to where he took out
publicly Roger Goodell publicly defended Zekiel Elliott. He defended him
(01:56:20):
after what happened in Vegas where he was at some
rave and pushed the security guard over a guardrail. This year,
all the time he has spoken out to try and
defend the guy and say he's this, and he's that,
we love Zeke all that stuff. So one time he
says zeku and teases him and busts his balls a
little bit, and Zeke and his agent get offended. That's
just them trying to turn the narrative publicly and try
(01:56:41):
and get everybody to defend a Zeke and them and say, oh, well,
that's no way you talk about a player like that
of yours. It's ridiculous. It was overblown, and it's Zeke
and his agent trying to play the victim card. I
never saw a quote from Zeke. I've always seen a
quote from his agent, okay, which is that that's kind
of what you'd expect to see, so on the lines of,
you know, things being taken out contents as you defended Baker.
(01:57:02):
You know, I don't know that we saw that from Zeke,
but from his agent, which you'd expect. Yeah, and his
agent said, but neither Zeke and I found this to
be funny at all. Yeah, that's why you pay your
agent to say stuff like that. I mean, you know,
do you think Zeke Releu was paying that much attention
to it. He's different than Melvin Gordon in this respect.
I don't see Zeke as as often on social media,
(01:57:22):
liking and retweeting and responding to other guys getting paid
speaks a little different story. By the way, here was
Zeke's agent talking about the last name of his client,
so I don't know if you knew that or not,
just in case you didn't know, Brady, I just want
to do
