Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, it's Rob Parker. Chris and I have another great
show for you. Today. We got into a heated debate
about whether or not Zeke's new Mega deal is an
indictment of Dak Prescott. We shared our official prediction for
the upcoming NFL season, and so much more. Plus we've
got an interview with Yahoo Sports senior NFL reporter Charles Robinson,

(00:24):
foul Affair with JR. Gamble, and the hot Seat with
our own man, Brian No. So here it is the
Worship Wednesday edition of The Couple Podcasts is coming your
way right now. All yeah, it is The Eye Couple.

(00:51):
I'm Chris Brussar alongside my partner Rob Parker, and we're
coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
Fifteen minutes would save you fifteen percent of more on
your car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for a free
rate quote. And we are roughly twenty four hours away

(01:12):
from the start of the twenty nineteen NFL season. And
now all teams are whole. Saved La Rams with Melvin Gordon,
but everybody's whole now. Zeke Elliott, the best running back
in the NFL, is with the Cowboys, signed to a
six year, ninety million dollars deal. We will get into

(01:33):
that in a moment. Fifty million dollar deal, but good
and Charles Robinson from Yahoo Sports will join us in
less than thirty minutes to talk all about it. You heard,
that's right, the skeptical one, the hater already weighing in.
Let me just give him a proper introduction, Rob Parker,

(01:55):
how are you today? I'm doing great? How are you?
Mister craw a bad move hating on Zeke? No Zeke.
I'm happy for him. I'm just saying that. My point
is stop, like, why should we promote these fraudulent contracts.
What he got was fifty million guarantee, which is great, Chris,
because it's the highest contract for a rookie. But he'll

(02:17):
never see the back end of that. That's all I'm
saying that. That's what the players, if players, need to
get over that and start getting like what Kirk Cousins got.
When you got a three year deal for guaranteed month,
that's a real contract. That's what he's gonna get. That's all.
It's not a knock on Zekiel's knock on the players Association. Now,
I hear you that's all. But how are you today?

(02:39):
A great day? All good, very good day. I'm excited.
NFL right around the corner, as I said, so, I'm
ready to get into a lot of things to talk
about as far as the NFL as well. So gonna
be a great show. Keep it locked for the next
three hours. You will not be disappointed. We've got the
hot seed in the third hour with Brian no radio.

(03:03):
I had lunch with him recent league. Yes, yes, he
was in town. I would have joined you guys, had
I been out there on the West coast. Have you
never met Brian? Right? Oh? Yeah, we had lunch right
before we did the show together. Okay, we both went
out to breakfast. He actually invited me to lunch. I
didn't know he was in that before. He invited you
when I when I wasn't able to make it, I

(03:24):
think he turned to you. Oh is that what it was? Oh? Wow,
look now he did invite me. I think we were
all three were gonna go, but I couldn't make it.
I got you. I see, I see you what you said.
I thought you met when you before when you first
started working with him, because I had never I do
mean both oh, because we did. We did have lunch
before we started working together on weekends three years ago,

(03:46):
which is unbelievable, right, And uh, but we were gonna
hook up this past week when you did with him,
but I was out of town, so it would have
been the three of us. All right, Let's welcome into
the odd couple of cool. We wouldn't be able to
do this fine radio program without him. Rob g is
a doc Iowa sam in for Alex engineer. Brian Fenley
is our update anchor man. He will keep us updated

(04:09):
throughout the program as well. And Will is our intern
and of course Elijah is our sports media guru. They're
all on the other side of the glass. Cris Bouchot
on this Worship Wednesday, let's kick some Heinie, I'm about
to kick something, all right? You think something? Because I was.

(04:29):
I can't believe what I heard today on Undisputed. And
it wasn't something that came out of the mouth of
Skip Bayless what Nor was it something that came out
of the mouth of Shannon Sharp. But it was something
that came out of the mouth of my very old

(04:52):
partner and co host, Rob Parker. What is the world
are you thinking? This contract? And this deal is an
indictment of Dak Prescott. That's why Zekiel Elliott has this contract.
This is a quarterback league, Skip Bayless, This ain't about

(05:14):
a running back. The last running back who led the
league and won a Super Bowl played with this man
back in nineteen ninety eight. This is what Jerry Jones
is scared to death. We saw Pat Mahal, Patrick Mahomes
lose Kareem Hunt, who was the leading rushers rookie year
right lost him, still got to the AFC Championship Game

(05:35):
and still had a chance. The Cowboys and Jerry Jones
nos Dak Prescott is a third tier quarterback. Isn't good
enough to lead the team. Can't go it with Pollard
and just put any running back in there. This team
is geared for Ezekiel Elliott. He's the most important player

(05:55):
and this is why he got the deal. Most teams
with a star quarter back would have been able to say,
you know what, We'll come back to you, lady. You
heard me, Chris Brossard, it is for play thrower. I
came into Undisputed, loaded for Bear, and loaded for Skip Payless,
and loaded for Dak Prescott. Dak Prescott, he helped Zekiel

(06:19):
get that deal. They were petrified to start the season.
They had no confidence in Dak Prescott to play the
lowly Giants, the lowly Redskins, and the lowly Miami Dolphins.
They were shaking in their boots. They were like, oh
my god, we gonna have Dak Prescott. Chance that he's

(06:40):
gonna lose a game against those three also rans. So
they went out. They told everybody they weren't gonna reset
the market. They weren't gonna give him Todd Gurley money.
They said that they were gonna play this kid Pollard
who will ran the football in the preseason. And then
you know what happened. Jerry Wilton, like in the Texas Son,

(07:04):
he'd been melted down. He caved. Jerry caved. Jerry had
no choice. He didn't believe in Dak Prescott. He said,
bring me Zeke. I'll make him the highest pay running
back in the history of the world. You are you

(07:27):
happy with yourself? Are you happy with yourself? The one
thing I agree with what you said is you did
go in there with a load a load of that's right,
A load of ish is what you went in there with.
Are you kidding me? Rob Parker. Look, they are a team.

(07:51):
Ezekiel Elliott is their best player. Ezekiel Elliott is the
cog that the offense is built around. Nobody's denying that.
But to say that they don't believe in Dak Prescott
because they paid Ezekiel Elliott, that's absolutely ludicrous. That is

(08:13):
the most ridiculous take I've heard in a long time.
Chris diculous. You were the one who said I would
let I would let Ezekiel Elliots sit out the first
couple of games, see if they could win without them,
and then you know they don't have to come calling
back to Jerry. They weren't willing to do that because
that's why they don't believe in Daks. They don't believe it.

(08:36):
They don't got they know that they need Zeke to
win the Super Bowl, or at least to have their
best shot of getting there. You're telling me that two
games to get to make it different games it would
have been you know, it could have been four, could
have been ten or nine or you know, I mean,
we don't know it just it. Here's the deal where

(08:57):
I'm I'm hearing you. It's saying that in today's NFL
because it's a running or a passing league. If you
have a great quarterback, you don't need a great running back,
and you won't pay a great running back. That's what
it sounds like you're saying. And because they did pay

(09:18):
Ezekiel Elliot, that means they know they don't have a
great quarterback. Is that what I'm hearing you say. I'm
telling you that the reason that they rushed to get
this deal done rather than making Ezekiel Elliott sweated out
and trying to win those easy games without them, and
then they would have been in the driver's seat if
they believed Dak Prescott was that guy, they would have

(09:38):
saved him a lot of money. Said they couldn't make
the playoffs without Ezekiel Elliott. I'm not knocking him, I'm
just talking about it tells you about Dak Prescott. Yes,
that the differences. And I brought it up when Patrick
Mahomes lost lost Kareem Hunt, they didn't panic, they didn't
think like the season was over. He still got them

(09:59):
within a thin a Tom Brady pick of going off
side Pat Mahomes is better than that. We all know.
Point is, Secondly, they had more weapons besides Kareem Hunt
they had, they lost the leads back and they're not
even missing. They actually got more weapons now than than
they had last year with Kareem Hunt. They still had

(10:20):
Tyreek Hill, they still had Travis Kelsey. Their backup running
backs were solid. I mean, that's that's a weak comparison.
And here's the deal. Okay, this is why you're This
is proof that you're so wrong. Historically, John Elway, one
of the best quarterbacks we've ever seen, never won a
Super Bowl without who Terrell Davis. As great as Elway was,

(10:44):
he needed a great running back. Those were you're talking
about ancient times. Nine is the quarterback League to your
little shield, I'm about to give you going back with
the way back machine. What are you talking about? Business?
When Emmett Smith got paid by the Dallas Cowboys, did
that mean Troy Aikman couldn't play? Did that mean they

(11:05):
didn't think Troy Aikman was a good quarterback? No? And
I know you can't equate the two Christmas. It's a
different know what the difference is. Okay, I'm about to
go modern day or no. But the difference with Troy
Aikman is that they had already won a championship with
Troy Aikman. They haven't won a championship with a Zeke
with Dak Prescott. You can't, you can't logic. No, But

(11:29):
they had already won a championship with that team in
time day. Let's go modern day. Todd Gurley, he's the
one that set the market last year, four years, sixty
million dollars. Does that mean the Rams didn't believe in
Jered Goff because they paid Todd Gurley, made him the

(11:49):
highest pay running back in the league. How about your
boy Ell Bell, Lavian Bell with the Jets, the fact
that they paid him, does that mean they don't believe
in Sam Darnall. No? But the differences, boy No. But
talking about the differences, I say free minute it lad No,
No one point. The highest pay running back in the league, Chris.

(12:10):
They not believing Matt Ryant. What you're talking them to
a super Bowl? But you're looking at it totally different
from the standpoint that the Cowboys, if ever, could have
been without Ezekiel Ellen was the first three games against Cupcakes.
They were afraid to go up against Cupcakes without them.
Not if you told me we're not gonna pay, We're
not gonna pay you, and we're gonna let Dak win

(12:32):
these three games and then you'll come on your hands
and knees and beg to get a contract from the Cowboys.
They couldn't do it because they ain't. No. Dak Prescott
is a third tier quarterback, and they were afraid to death.
Where did Aaron Rodgers leads they last star? You're not
talking about that. He only won two v pays and
he won a championship. Come on, we're not talking about

(12:55):
That's a bad argument here talking about Dak Prescott, who's
ranked third? Whose ranked third? A third tier quarterback by
most in the league. He is a third tier quarterback.
That doesn't mean he's not a good quarterback. He's a winner.
He ain't no winner. That's why he viewed as a
third tier, third lead tier quarterback. That's why they gave
Ezekiel Elliott. I'm gonna say he's third tier. That's why

(13:18):
they gave Ezekiel dollars said please come back, so please?
Is Jared Lean tier quarterback? All I know was last
year they had the third greatest offense in the history
of the NFL. He's Jared Golf, a third tier quarter
No he's bet he's way better than Ezekiel Elliott, I
mean than Dak Prescott. Now, why did they pay Todd
Gurley so much? Because Todd they were a concu talking GOLFU. No,

(13:41):
Todd Gurley's a great quarter I'm a great running back. Okay.
Is Ezekiel Ellie a great running back? No, but that's
not I'm talking about. Todd Gurley didn't hold out? Did
he hold did he hold out? Or did they just
pay him? He didn't hold out? Mike drop No, one
ain't no Mike drop Drop not play that take Iowa,
Sam play a ridiculous tape. Dumped that out, Rob. I

(14:06):
don't want anybody to hear that I was taking out.
Check it out of the Podole, chake it out of
the podcast. How dare you? Iowas Sam, I'm gonna come
into that studio throw potatoes at you. Even that's Idahotes
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven

(14:26):
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. You're with me?
Or are you with Rob? Ezekiel Elliott's mega deal and
indictment of Dak Prescott him And believe me, I'm not
saying he's Pat Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers. But I am
saying this hasten. This contract they gave Zeke had nothing
to do with them thinking Dak's no good. It's your

(14:48):
turn away in the Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeart Radio Vibe. It's the I Couple of Chris Brusorg
and Rob Parker. On a worship Wednesday, dj Ia Sam
on the ones and twos, We've got some great news

(15:10):
for you. There's a quick and easy way you could
save money. Switch the guy called it only takes fifteen
minutes to see if you could save fifteen percent of
more on your car insurance. Go to Geico dot com
and see how much you could save. All right, Rob,
Let's let the listeners speak eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox. Do they agree with your take that this

(15:30):
contract for Zeke is an indictment of Dak Prescott. Let's
start with Jared in Kentucky. You're on the Odd Couple
of Fox Sports Radio. Jared, what you got? I ain
every night? Thank you? Thank you, Chris. I think you're
one of the smartest people on sports cast. I mean,
I love you. You're taking especially basketball, You're you're your

(15:53):
second to nine. I think on this one, I listen,
I'm gonna lead a little bit toward Rob. Yeah, because
I think about this way. This is why I'm looking
at it. If if this is a quarterback driven league,
every rule has been put in place, all the money's
been put in place for us to give us they
passes down the field. Now I'm gonna think like this.

(16:14):
Let's just say for a reason that Kareem Hunt didn't
get in trouble and his contract was up and Patrick
my Homes was up, man, there'd be no doubt that
Patrick my Homes would get that money first. If they
was in the same situation as Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott,
I can't see they got to allow other weapons though.

(16:35):
That's the difference and better. I mean, nobody that is
even most as good as Pat Mahomes. But I Rob,
I will say this one point, and this is how
everybody everybody just played us for. You love to play
with people who can play. So I understand that Jerry Jones,
even though he might be saying in his own little

(16:57):
way as saying, hey, we might not have total faith
and that presscout. He's still saying, man, we got to
have that cat right there on this team ready to go.
But I still feel that he does think that, because
why would he not give that money. That means that's
about to win pain, right, that's about to become perhaps
the highest paid quarterback. But he always thought he wants

(17:19):
him to take Tom Brady money, though he ain't taking
time Brady money. Yeah, he played like Tom Brady. Third,
he gonna be in the high in the in the
thirty Skip says he's gonna get one hundred and twelve
million dollars. Well, I think that's what that says. Hey, Jared,
buddy guarantee. I think he might be the highest in
terms of guarantee. It's one one hundred and seven. Now

(17:39):
is on the hundred and ten golf for one hundred
and ten, and then one hundred and twelve would make him. Yeah, yeah,
all right, you might be thirty three a year, one
hundred and twelve guarantee. We'll see Jeff and Tulsa. You're
on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up
Jeff Hey, fellas, how are you hey? I never thought
say it, but I agree with Chris Bruce Harts this deal.
Thank you. You've got to have a running back to

(18:03):
make your quarterback successful. I don't look, we can talk
about Tom Brady being the one off and never having
a power running back or whatever, but listen, Eze deal
needs to be there to make Dak successful. It's been
historically proven you have to have a running back. And
Matt Troyton. Then you guys were talking about it earlier,

(18:24):
all of the key quarterback recessful. You know, Roger Craig,
you can all of all of guys just talking about album.
Sean Land, thank you. I am a huge Seahawk. They
lost the game. They wouldn't give him the ball. Well
that was That was Pepe's biggest mistake ever. He will

(18:47):
go down in history as the worst super bocer. We're
getting on another side. You're absolutely appreciate Johnny in New Mexico.
You're the a couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Johnny? Well,
that's it. You know, the last color wasn't far off. Um,

(19:09):
you're only worth what somebody is willing to pay. And
right now the Cowboys are in a spot where they
have to pay Dak. Not that he's great, it's just
that there's no other option. If the if the classing
quarterback was available tomorrow and was a shirt thing, Jerry
Jones A pull that trigger so quick it's not even funny,

(19:32):
all right, Johnny. I do think Jones loves Dak. I
really believe he really loves Dak because he sees the Intangrael.
I know, you like the pooh poo Intangral. I'm but
I think he's a real believer in Dak. And you go,
he's about to show it when he gives him thirty
three mil a year. You you thirty three But it
would just be based on the system, That's all it is. Hey,

(19:55):
whatever they paying, they're gonna pay him. Like he said,
he he's a top tier quarter back. He's gonna get
no doubt, he's gonna get top tier money. And I
agree with you, he's not a top tier quarterback. He's
not my homes Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, any
of those guys. But he is a winner. And I

(20:15):
don't think there's this is any indictment whatsoever on him.
If they were gonna give him twenty five million a
year be an indictment. Well, we'll see what happens when
the money comes out. Brady in Maine, you're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Brady being
a pitchess fan. I don't normally agree with Rob Parker,
but on this case I have to agree with it. Yeah,
I do not trust Dak. Gary Jones just caved in.

(20:41):
He did cave. He did a cave. But why is
that an indictment of Dak? Because they were playing three
fluffy teams the first week. He was acting all tough
like he wasn't that Doc could do it, and then
when the going got tough to you're like that Doc
can't do it and had to get absolutely he knew
it and against those three cupcakes to star at the season.
He was petrified that they were gonna go one and

(21:02):
two or lose a couple of those games, and their
whole chance at the Super Bowl would be dashed out
the window in the first month, No doubt about a
great call. Bread, He wasn't he wasn't petrified. Yes, thank you.
How about Kay with the one at least two of
those three games, Kevin and Wisconsin. You're in the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. Hey, how you doing, Robin, Chris?

(21:23):
He happening? Man? Hey, I gotta say that I agree
with Chris. But but the reason why is not why
you guys stay the way I look at it is
that it's easy to look at Dak can say well,
he's not a top tier quarterback in you name four quarterbacks,

(21:43):
but yet you name four quarterbacks except for Rogers that
are an incredible systems to have incredible play callers, you
have to look at how Dak will do if they
bring in the guy, the guy from Oklahoma as a
head coach, because we all know that the head coach
of Dallas sucks. Now. I'm not a Dallas fan, I'm

(22:03):
a Packer fan, but I understand what Dak's going through
because if you look at how the organization has filled
Aaron Rodgers over the years by not getting him a
key receiver, not getting him a key running back, not
giving him a defense, then it's so easy to say, oh,
this new guy so much better. Well, he's got a
better Well if you say with Mike, with Mahomes has

(22:25):
got a better organization, he's got a better guy call
in the plays, and the same thing with Brady. But
da you got Jason Garritt. Jason Garrill, that's a good call.
And look, we'll see what happens with Kelly Moore. You
know a lot of people are high on this guy.
He is closer to the college game. You know, maybe
he will come in and really ramp up that offense.

(22:48):
But that's a good call. I hear you on that,
all right. Jared Goffe's new contract might actually hurt Dak
Prescott's negotiating power. Yahoo Sports senior NFL reporter Charles Robinson
will explain next. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar then Rob Parker week
days at seven pm Eastern, four pm Pacific. They a

(23:10):
couple of Christ and Rob coming to you live from
the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's easy to say
fifteen percent of more on your corn instruments with Geico.
Go to Geico dot com or call eight hundred and
nine four seven auto. The only hard party is figuring
out which way is easier. Our next guest does a
terrific job of covering the NFL for Yahoo Sports. He's
a senior reporter there. He's also the host of the

(23:33):
Yahoo Sports NFL podcast Charles Robinson. Welcome to the Eye,
A couple of Charles. What's up, fellows. How you guys
doing today? We are great man, Great to have you on,
and a great day to have you on. Let's start
with the Jared Goff news. And do you ever take
that that this deal he got one hundred and ten

(23:53):
million guaranteed thirty two million a year four years, that
it could hurt Dak Prescott's negotiation. No, I don't think so.
I think it brackets sort of where look if here's
the thing with the Dak Prescott negotiations, you know, I
think Dak's representation, Todd Francesca, came out of the gate

(24:15):
hot like looking for a big number. But I think
he was looking for a huge number because he wanted
to get Dak into the thirty four thirty five million
dollars a year range. And I still think that's too
high probably for where Dak is. But I think the
Goff deal helps because I think the brackets ultimately are
going to be between Carson Wentz and Jared Goff in

(24:37):
terms of the apy and then a total guaranteed money
so basically you're talking about Dak Prescott being a guy
that the Cowboys. Frankly, I think in the calculus of
what quarterbacks are worth right now, and the tier that
he's in is thirty two to thirty three million dollars
per year apy and one hundred and seven million two
one hundred and ten million guaranteed, it should simp will

(25:00):
fire or focus the negotiation just from the sense of
now the Cowboys know, look, this is this is a
landing pad, and if you're coming in underneath this, it
means you're I don't want to say you're lowballing him,
but you're looking for a discount. And if he's coming
in over this, he's looking for a premium. It gives you,
I think, just some common ground where if you're both

(25:20):
going to give a little, it's gonna fall right into
the zone between Carson Wentzon and Jared go Charles today
on Undisputed, I basically was yelling at Skip Bayless, and
I told him today that the Cowboys and Jerry Jones
caving in and making making Ezekiel Elliott the highest pay

(25:40):
running back was an indictment of Dak Prescott that they
didn't want to face those three cupcakes at the beginning
of the year without their start running back, and they
think they have a chance to make something happen. This
is a quarterback league, and Ezekiel Elliot got what he
wanted and the Cowboys caves. Do you think I'm crazy?

(26:02):
I don't. I think it's an indictment if now Dak
doesn't get a deal. But we all know he will, right.
We're afraid to say you disagree with him, No, you
go back and get Robert I probably a few decades
of this, yes, exactly, so that issue. But you see

(26:25):
My point, though Charles is did, is that some teams
would have said, hey, you know what, we'll just go
with I'll start quarterback and we'll win these three games,
and then uh, Dak uh Ezekiel Elliot will come back
up begging for a deal because we'll be three and
oh they're playing three patsies. See. But I think I
think in their minds, if Ezekiel Elliott was was going

(26:48):
to be willing to sit out three games, he was
going to be willing to sit out six games. And
I think maybe that's the factor where you have Jerry
Jones sitting there going okay, we've gotten to a point
where we're close enough, like this is really about evening
out how much money is up front, how much money
he's on the back end, you know. And I don't
want to sit here and go through six games because

(27:09):
I don't want to get into a long drawn out
thing of why he would have to show up in
week six, but to basically get his accrued season in,
you know, to make sure that his contract didn't toll,
that he didn't lose you know, a year of credit
on his contract and then extend it, he would have
to come in by week six because the Cowboys, if
they really wanted to really stick it to him, because say, yeah,

(27:31):
we're gonna take the three week roster exemption, so say
he shows up week ten, they're still going to toll
his contract because they're going to just sit him and
be jerks about it. I just think Jerry sat there
and said, look, we know, if he's gonna sit out
one game, he's gonna sit out six. I think that
was the thought process for the Cowboys, that he's not
going to commit to one game and not commit to six,
and we're not going to do this where I'm going

(27:53):
to sit here and watch six games with what I
consider to be, you know, the the art beat of
the offense. A lot of the scheme goes through this guy.
I'm not going to sit here and roll the dice
on that. Don't don't rule out Jerry's got some age
on him, okay. And when you talk to people on
the Cowboys organization, they continually say Jerry doesn't have a

(28:14):
lot of campaigns, like, there's not a tone. You know.
He knows times running short, Bob McNair passing away freaked
him out. He does not want to wait for this.
That's why Jerry's spending two hundred and fifty million dollars
on a yacht. That's why in the crux of this
negotiation in the summer, Jerry won't around. He was in
the Mediterranean on his boat because he's trying to enjoy

(28:35):
life and seize the things you know that he wants
now because he looks at Bob McNair and says, I
don't know if I have another year, let alone another
fifteen years to do this. Charles Robinson of Yahoo's Sports
joining the Odd Couple, That's that's some great stuff. Charles.
A guy that some people think, you know, oh, This
was great news for Melvin Gordon holding out with the

(28:57):
LA Chargers. What how do you think this plays out,
his situation plays out. I mean, it would be good
news if the Spanos family didn't know own the Chargers,
Like it's they don't care, they don't I mean, look
the history of negotiations with the Charges when they don't
want to pay you money, it's not gonna pay you
money like they don't care, Like it's not Have the

(29:18):
Chargers struck you as a team where they're like, Hey,
we just gotta we gotta make sure we spend all
the money we need to spend to have the best
team on the field all the time. No, they'd be
in San Diego right now. If they really cared about
we want to have our own thing here, we want
to have the best foot forward, they would have worked
out a stadium deal ten years ago in San Diego
rather than getting themselves into the position they did. No,

(29:42):
they don't, nah, they don't care about me. Look, Melvin Gordon,
that they're so dug in there and ownership has completely
backed that play. I think a lot of that's coming
frankly from ownership. No, I don't think it strengthens anything
that they're fine. I think they're fine. If Melvin Gordon
wants to sit out the whole season, I really don't
think the Chargers are going to sweat that. And Jared
Goff and his deal just happens just about where you

(30:04):
are as a quarterback in this league. It was the
same thing when Matthew Stafford got his big deal and
at that one point was the highest paid player in
the NFL without even a playoff win, and now it's
been a decade. So it's just really about slotting and
where you are in the pecking order and when your
paid day comes correct. I mean you could say that,

(30:25):
but I have a problem with people banging on Jared Goff,
like I think he's a better player than people and
you know, I hear the whole system quarterback thing, and
he's never going to be a guy who is going
to surpass this point where he starts to put his
own creative stamp on the offense. Allah Peyton Manning, Tom Brady,
Aaron Rodgers, whatever, But look first off, halfway through last season,

(30:47):
there was an argument that Jared Goff was in the
running for the MVP. Okay, I don't know how many seasons.
Matt Stafford, we really ever talked about him being an
MVP candidate. Rarely they get to the Super Bowl. I
understand he's got certain shortcomings, but I think a big
part of this commitment has to do it. And I
think this is a big question nowadays. If you've got
the coach and you really truly believe in the coach

(31:09):
and you think he's a great offensive mind, and then
you find the right quarterback for the coach and that
tandem can work together, that's when you don't. You're like,
we're fine paying that money. And when I went through
RAMS camp, I'm telling you they're all sitting there saying
exactly that we've got the right quarterback for the right coach.
I don't care if you want to call him a
system guy or not. He's the right guy for what

(31:29):
our coach wants to do. Jared Goff will flourish under
our coach. We pay those guys. Charles rob and I
are about to make our pre season predictions in about
twenty minutes. Is it why that we got? Why we got?
We got two and a half hours to kill? What
do you mean? Listen, don't don't fill the two and

(31:50):
a half hours now to hurt yourself for three months,
because that is exactly what you're doing. It's gonna be
tough to make some of these predictions. But in thirty seconds,
is there a shocker out there, whether it's a shocking
team that's gonna make the playoffs, an individual who's gonna
shock people with a great year or a poor year,

(32:10):
Is there any any shockers out there? In your opinion,
gonna happen? Any shockers? Um Man, you give me thirty
seconds for this, and you guys get two and a
half hours to pass think radio. Yeah, exactly. I'll tell you.
I'll tell you what. The one team when I went

(32:31):
through all the camps, the one team that I didn't
expect much from as I went through. They were more
talented than I thought. And and they if the coaches
don't kill each other, I think they have an opportunity
to probably be a little bit better than we think.
I actually think the Jets do. Yeah, I think Darnold's
got a chance to take a little step. I think
if Greg Williams can just keep himself on the rails

(32:53):
for a season and Adam Gase, you know the same thing,
I think they're a little bit better than I thought
they were. So don't be surprised that the Jets, you know,
they're a playoff team this year win eight games right now,
They're playoffs team. I'm with you. I'm with you, okay,
Charles Robinson, Yahoo Sports Senior NFL reported, great stuff, man.
We appreciate the knowledge, all right. Appreciate it, guys, Thank you,

(33:15):
all right, brother Peace. One of the biggest stars in
the NFL Jets might be one of its biggest idiots too.

can be confusing terms like dealer, price, list, price invoice,
True cars what you need because Truecar shows you what
other people pay for the car you want. That way,
you can recognize a good price from a bad one.

(33:59):
So when you're ready to buy a new or even
a used car, make sure you visit True Car to
get your confidence up. Rob Let's stick with the NFL,
but move off of the Cowboys. I'm all for you know,
I think all of us, you know, we like the rebellious.
You know we we have a soft spot in our

(34:20):
heart for the rebels, you know, for the guys that
aren't the company men. And you know, the guys that'll
kind of tell authority off every now and then, you know,
the guys that that'll stand up for what's uh when
when they're when they're when other people won't. Let's put
it that way. I'm like everybody else, and I like

(34:43):
some of that too, But I cannot defend what Antonio
Brown is doing. I just can't. And he tweeted recently
a picture, whether a tweet or Instagram whatever it was
Instagram story, a picture of a letter that the general

(35:03):
manager of the Raiders, Mike Mayock, sent him, indicating that
the team had find him fifty four thousand dollars for
skipping two practices in mid August. So he posts that
on Instagram and then he writes the caption, when your
own team want to hate, I'll just say it when

(35:26):
your own team wants to hate. But there's no stopping
me now. The devil is a lie. Everyone got to
pay this year. Just so we're clear, Rob, the Raiders
aren't doing him wrong. I understand that sometimes the team
won't find, you know, hold a guy to the finds

(35:47):
that they he should get in all that, But with
Antonio Brown and I don't know if the foot the
frost bite was his father not, but there's that. Then
the helmet fiasco was just ridiculous. And if you're going
to miss practices, have a reason otherwise you need to

(36:07):
be there. Just because you don't like the helmet you
gotta wear, it doesn't mean you can't be at practice.
And so I'm totally fine with the Raiders find an Himo.
I actually think they should find him, and I don't.
I can't support him one iota for getting mad that
he's gonna have to pay fines for missing practice. I'm not.

(36:27):
I'm just not as worked up about it as you.
I think that the Raiders know exactly what they did
when they signed a guy. It's just like I said
all the time, Chris, you can't marry an alcoholic and
then be surprised when he wants to stop off at
the liquor store on the way home. Right, So so
they just gotta put up with this madness. No you can.

(36:50):
You can say, let's see what, can't be getting drunk anymore.
Let's just wait to lend you the rehab. Let's wait
until we see how he plays. What If he plans well,
then you'll won't. You'll you'll deal with that stuff. If
he doesn't, then you won't, then you'll let him go.
Then you'll move forward. So this is what it is.
He's one of those guys that up until his point,

(37:12):
all everybody, anybody ever cared about it what he's able
to do on the field, which he's played very well.
So I'm just saying, for me, I'm not bothered by it.
I don't care about the tweets. I don't None of
that matters to me. Should be fine. You could be
a choir boy, Chris, and if you can't play, you
can't play. I look, first of all, I'm not worked

(37:32):
up about it. I'm just saying it's ridiculous, and at
some point, you do. Everybody has to follow some rules.
You don't live in a vacuum, none of us. We
all have to follow some rules, no matter how good
you and I are on radio. If we start showing
up late, skipping days without a reason. Have that never
happened to star guys on the radio have done that. No,

(37:56):
trust me, there are plenty of guys who didn't show
up at some point. They gotta follow the rule. I
understand that. But you will admit everybody's not under the
same system. No, and I'm not. And like you said,
he's gotten away with stuff, right, That's what I'm saying.
But it's just it's just but you think they didn't
know when they signed them that this is what you
got here. I'm asking you. My thing is, Look, I'm

(38:20):
glad they're finding him because I'm at like i'd be
a hardcore GM or coach, because that's just how I am,
and I respect authority. I was raised by an authoritarian father,
and so I'm glad they're finding him. And he needs
to just pay the fines you need next time. You're

(38:41):
not gonna make practice. You need to have a legitimate excuse.
That's what I'm saying. Okay, you think they're doing for
finding him. I didn't say that. I just I think
his point is that he's probably broken some other rules
and they never find them. So now he's just saying,
now my own team is gonna find me. This is
what I'm and doing my whole career, that's all. But

(39:02):
he just got to understand that he got away with
that in Pittsburgh, I guess. And and how many Super
Bowls did he help him win? Oh? Zero? That's right,
all right. It's The Eye Couple Chris Brusar ing Fox

(40:08):
than twenty four hours now or roughly twenty four hours.
Still about a little over twenty four hours, the Green
Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears will open up the
two thousand and nineteen NFL season. Robbing, I cannot wait,
and so now we are going to give you guys

(40:30):
our preseason predictions. AFC West. Robbing the AFC West. I'm
going with the winner to be the Kansas City Chiefs,
and I'm actually picking the Los Angeles Chargers to make

(40:53):
the wild card and get to the playoffs. Again. We
got the same team to the wrong order. Have the
Chargers winning the division this year and the Chiefs winning
the wild card. Chiefs take a step back AFC East
in the AFC East, no brainer. I think even Roy
Parker will get this one right. New England Patriots. I

(41:18):
have the New England Patriots and the New York Jetropolitans
winning a wild card from the AFC East. Wow, that
is surprising. AFC South, all right, rob, this was your
favorite team last year. I'm going with the Jacksonville Jaguars
of Nick Foles. I'm going with the Indianapolis Colts to

(41:44):
rally around and bounce back. They have a really good
team other than the changing quarterback. I like the Colts.
I got them winning AFC North. I got the Pittsburgh Steelers. Yeah,
they lost some talent, but I think they've gained team
chemistry and they're gonna bounce back with a vengeance this year.

(42:06):
And I've got the Cleveland Browns, not in the super Bowl,
but in the playoffs as a wild card. I have
the Ravens No Pitchburgh in the playoffs for a second
straight yet they lost too much offensive firepower. So who's
your second wildcard team? I already picked the Chiefs in
the Jets. Okay, all right, right, that's the FC an

(42:31):
FC West. I've got a shocker here, rob And last
week I was on first things first and I made
some picks. But you know how it is, you can
change up until the games begin. So I've made some changes.
I thought long and hard about this yesterday. And I
do see the Rams as you do, I know, taking

(42:51):
a step backwards. And I've got Seattle just added Jadeveon Clowney.
We all know that I've got the Seahawks winning this division.
I don't have that step back like that. I got
the Rams winning in the NFC West. And I have
Seattle as a wild card. Oh, I thought you said
yesterday the Rams weren't gonna make the playoffs. Maybe somebody else,

(43:14):
all right, NFC East, all right, I said they weren't
gonna get to the super Bowl. I flipped. I changed
my mind again. You can do it up until the
games begin. So these are my official votes. I've got
the Dallas Cowboys winning the NFC East and Philadelphia making

(43:35):
the playoffs as a wild card. I have the Eagles
winning the NFC East. NFC South, I've got the New
Orleans Saints taking this division. I have the Saints by default.
I'll go with the Saints. An FC North, Aaron Rodgers

(43:56):
in a bounce back year leads the Packers of the
division title. And I think the Chicago Bears, on the
strength of that great defense and Mitchell Trubiskie will be
pretty what good they get the wild card. I'll have
the Packers winning the division and the Bears with their defense,
they get the wild cards. So my NFC wild card

(44:17):
Seattle and the Bears. Are you racking these? Robgie? I
got him? Also, Just so we're clear, I know that
we went through this pretty quickly. Chris Brussari does not
have the Rams in the playoffs this year? No yesterday.
Can we get a bet on that? I think they're taking.
They're falling back now. I gotta bet for you coming up.

(44:39):
So I gotta bet for you coming bigger? Shall you
me Chris leaving the Rams out of the playoffs? Or
Rob Parker including the Jets. I'm going with the lebyon bellfactor.
I think he opens up Sam Donald and Sam Donald.
If he doesn't play well of a bust out year,
it'll be awful disappointing because I think Lebon should make

(45:01):
him a better player. All right, let's keep it moving
and get to the individual awards. Offensive Rookie of the
Year Rob. This is another shocker. The New York Giants.

(45:22):
I think they'll make the quarterback switch five games, maybe
eight games, nine games into the season. Now, if it's
that lady won't be enough. I was gonna say, how
could you be offensive? I'm still with Daniel Jones. This
is I think he's gonna I think he's gonna it's
a stretch, but I'm going with me. I think Kyler's

(45:42):
gonna be running for his life Kyler Murray, So I'm
gonna go with Daniel Jones. Yeah. I mean a lot
of people in Vegas. Of course, it's Kyler Murray. Everybody
knows him and what he's done in college. But I'm
with this is for you, rob Ge Josh Jacobs to
running back for the Oakland Raiders. A lot of people
got a nice buzz about him. That's where I'm going.

(46:02):
I'm going there, all right. Defensive Rookie of the Year,
I'm gonna it was a tough one because there are
a lot of guys out there that I like. But
I'm gonna go with Nick Bosa of the San Francisco
forty nine ers. I got Devin White, the linebacker from

(46:23):
the Buccaneers. They just love everything. Everything I've read about
him is about his speed, his work ethic, and he
knows the game of football. I'm gonna go there. He's
a good one. Offensive Player of the Year. This one
was simple. I know you don't see a lot of
back to back MVPs in the NFL. Peyton Manning did it,

(46:43):
I think a couple of times, Brett Farve did it,
and I think Patty Mahomes is gonna do it. So
I got Pat Mahomes winning his second straight MVP Award.
I got Aaron Rodgers and an absolutely great bounce back season. Uh,
Aaron Rodgers might throw off forty touchdowns this year. That's

(47:07):
where I got forty for Aaron Rodgers. Speaking at a stop.
Offensive Player of the Year, you got Mahomes and Rogers.
Just so we're clear, because I know Chris just said MVP. No,
you've because you met Offensive year him down here. All right, Yeah,
Defensive Player of the Year. I'm gonna go with Khalil Mack.
I think he's gonna break that stranglehold Aaron Donald's had

(47:28):
on the award the last couple of years, and Khalil Mack.
I'm Aaron Donald third straight year when all the players
had to vote and talk about the best player in
the league. His name comes up all the time, so
until further notice, and he's not that guy and people
don't think he is. I think he's gonna win as
long as he plays and keeps up. So I'm gonna

(47:50):
go with Aaron Donald Most Valuable Player. All right, First,
let me say this, Rod Parker. You know that we've
had a wing bet on Pat Mahomes throwing forty or
more touchdowns. I say he gets to forty or more.

(48:10):
You say thirty nine or less. Forget the wings. Let's
put a pair of Jordan's sneakers, and I don't want
to hear anything about he missed a game or something.
These are the rules. If he gets hurt, obviously you
know it's off. Why but no, if he gets hurt,

(48:30):
I'm letting you know right now. If he gets hurt,
if he plays fifteen games, you know, and they sit
him the last game for playoffs or whatever, I'm fine
with that, but he's got to play at least fifteen
games you win it or not. No, at least because
I gotta leave it out there that he could get hurt. No,
but when you when you make a bet and vegans,

(48:51):
I'm not betting that if he gets hurt, it's off.
You don't want to do just even gotta ask because
if if we're not doing it, if he gets hurt,
so we just want That's why I didn't take the
Jordan bet pick for the same reason. That's not how
you Jordan bet. That was what the Jordan sneakers about
them not making the playoffs, because you put a caveat
in there. You gave yourself. But I said that after

(49:13):
when we made the bet. I thought it was understood.
You didn't know, because when you make it in Vegas,
we ain't Vegas, right, which you got. They don't bet
wings in Vegas either, not yet. So if you don't
want to do it, we ain't gotta do it. No,
we'll just make it. Let's just make it wings. He
chickened out. No, I didn't chicken out. You're chicken out.

(49:33):
I didn't chicken out. I just don't. How can you
hold somebody through a bet because somebody gets hurt, because
that's a part of football, that's what goals wanting football
st Vegas. If if he played fourteen games, I don't
get my sneakers right. If he played fourteen, he has
to play fifteen. That's what I'm saying. So in football,
I mean, all you have to do is put that.

(49:53):
Once that's out there and we both understand it, it's
not a problem. Yeah, you don't make bets like that
all the time. There's prop that's and stuff like that.
I'm gonna take the wing back. Let's just leave it
at wings. We're good. You know he's throwing forty plus anyway.
Patrick Mahomes MVP. I got Aaron Rodgers, the old comeback
from last year, bounces back and does his thing, stays

(50:17):
healthy and plays the kind of football we know he
can play. Super Bowl, all right, Rob Parker, Andy Reid
finally will get it done, and the Kansas City Chiefs
will beat the Dallas Cowboys in the Super Bowl. The

(50:38):
Kansas City Chiefs will beat the Dallas Cowboys in the
Super Bowl. The Packers over the Chargers in the Super Bowl.
Packers over the Chargers. Aaron Rodgers gets his second Super
Bowl in route to three in the second half of

(50:59):
his career. So there it is the first of three.
All right, there you have it. Our NFL predictions are
in and now we want to hear yours eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven, nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine. Give us your boldest predictions
for the upcoming NFL season. It's Chris and Rob, the

(51:40):
large quatro pizza with four sections of classic Italian flavors
for only seven dollars and only at participating in Little
Caesar's locations plus tax. We're applicable. Rob and I have
put out our preseason predictions. Rob has who'd you have
winning at the rank? Who'd you what? The Packers over

(52:01):
the charge Packs over the Chargers? Ye, and I have
the Chiefs over the Cowboys. So what say you give
us your boldest predictions for the upcoming NFL season eight seven,
seven ninety nine on five? All right, let's start with
Harold in Seattle. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What you got Harold? Hey? What's going on? Fellas?
First of all, I'm a big fan, love you guys

(52:23):
a show, Thank you, Thank you hey. So check it out. Man.
The AFC Easter start there, that's easy. We know, we
know the path, got it. You know, hopefully somebody will
step up and give them a little bit of a challenge.
But I'm gonna go with the Jets in a wild card.
Well you agree with me? Then? How we don't need
you to do the whole thing? And that's the best one.
You got a bigger prediction of my best one I

(52:46):
think is in the in the NFC NFC West. I
think the Seaharks crushed that division. I think the legion
of boom is back is that you got the Rams
making the playoffs. You know what, Chris, I'm gonna have
to agree. I don't think the Rams make it. You
guys are smoking something that they're not gonna make the
part I think get crazy. I think I think I

(53:08):
think you'll look back on that pick and be like,
I don't know what I was thinking. Serious. I think
if I had him with hesitancy, I had him winning
winning the division a week ago. But I've changed my mind.
I think Seattle strengthened itself. Appreciate the call, Harold, what

(53:28):
about Q and Louisiana. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. We do God, I got three bold
partitions for you win. I got the forty nine is
winning the nfcry with, I got Crew Breeze finally getting
the NFL NVC m H. I think you're going to

(53:52):
get so you got, you got the you got the
Niners winning the division, but Breeze being the VP. Okay,
how is that possible. Actually, no breezes there in a
different division. That's right. Yeah, yeah, go ahead. And I
got the Jacksonville Jaguars with in the Super Bowl. Wow,
you are full of boldness. That's pretty bald condictions. I

(54:17):
like Nick Foles from it. It's good that defense is
still intact. I think it's that. I love Nick. I'm off.
I'm off the Jaguars. I think the defense is still intact.
I don't. I don't think it's the same defense appreciated. Uh,
we'll see Dabril in Atlanta. You're on the couple of
Fox Sports traded. There's so many Homer picks here. What

(54:38):
do you got? You already know I'm on top. I'm
on you man. What you got hen Ata smoking phone?
I mean he was all over the map, he was,
he has some stuff, all right? What you got? I
got Atlanta? Overall Atlanta? Yo? I mean yeah, man, come

(54:59):
on over over the chief. Hey, Chris, Chris, you need
to pay that man. That's right, he want I wanted
to beat. You need to pay that man a bit
of a big creek. You know how to go na
a bad win? Dude, stay healthy, you know that. Not
talking about wings we're talking about some I offer robbed
the bed he pulled out. No, I'm talking about the

(55:21):
George when I said the Lakers wouldn't make the playoffs,
and I was right, was it not? Dre Bill? Yo,
you gotta pay him injury, right, even though I hate him,
even though this isn't vas, I was right. All I
appreciate it. Thanks for the call. What about Doug in Texas?
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. All right,
My bold projection for the Super Bowl is I'm gonna

(55:42):
have to agree with each one of you. I think
it's gonna be the Packers and Chiefs in there, but
it's gonna be the Chiefs Winn and Patrick Mahomes gonna
take home the super Bowl in the second year, kind
of like Ben Roethlisberger did. The other thing is, Chris,
you gotta stop hanging around to get Bayless. Just stop
right because of the Cowboys pick. Oh yeah, when they've

(56:06):
been healthy, they've been very good. And I heard this
was on First Things First today. When Ezekiel Elliott is healthy,
they are four and oh against Philadelphia four and oh,
and he runs for well over one hundred yards in
those games. So, but Hey, I tell you this. If
you're right and it is the Chiefs and the Packers

(56:27):
in the Super Bowl, I would love to see that. Rob,
you got it. I think you would too well. I mean,
you talk about two tremendous quarterbacks going at it. It'd
be fantastic. It would be What about Greg and North Carolina?
Are you on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio?
What's up? Greg? Hey, fellas, I got a Chiefs and

(56:47):
Packers as well. Okay, an old rivalry. Chiefs are gonna
come out on top this time. Um. You know, there's
certain teams are just never gonna win Super Bowl. Chargers
are never gonna win the Super Bowl. Wow. Never. I
can't see charge of getting there. Yeah all right, and
the chief certain Packers are. I could see that. That's

(57:10):
an old school rivalry from the old Yeah right, yep,
I mean the AFL and the NFL. Yea, yep. You'd
see all those old films if that happened. But I
do like when when guys called from their cities and
they picked their home team. I just I love that.
I'm not mad at him. I get it. That's why
you're a fan. But Atlanta, do you have Atlanta anywhere

(57:33):
near the Super Bowl. I don't have him in the playoffs,
but they don't need it. A bad team. I think
the NFC is just really rugged. They don't deserve anything
after that choke job to the Patriots. You mean when
Tom Brady rally when they choked down the Super Bowl?
Remember that. Yeah, they should never ever ever get a
super Bowl for that. They had a Super Bowl. Arthur

(57:53):
Blank came down from his suite. He was dancing on
the sidelines. He was building cadenzas during the Spare Teeth.
Thought everything was just condensas shoe the first time you
use condenza. Yeah, I show Yeah. I was trying to
find something that you would find at home deep or builds,

(58:15):
you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You don't strike me as
a home depot type of guy. No, when I bought
my house many moons ago, I was in there all
the time. When you were married, you were at home
depot type of guy. Yeah, you know, but this is
many years ago. Now you just a I'm swinging batchel.
I'm a lows guy, right, I just go in there
and get tape. I just put tape on everything. I'll

(58:38):
tell you what they rob some of the some of
the callers have said Chiefs packers, and I would love
to see that. I mean, I obviously you want your
picks to be right, you know, and I got Dallas
and and the Chiefs. But man to see Aaron Rodgers
and Pat Mahomes go at it when I expect them
to both to battle for the end VP Award, that

(59:01):
would be fantastic. No, it would be. It would be
a star studded of a matchup as you could have.
I mean, when you look at it, obviously that some
people will think maybe the Cowboys this is their year,
finally they're going to get back to the super Bowl.
The Rams have unfinished business. I'm just looking at some
of the teams. And then again you have the Saints.

(59:22):
Some people believe that the Saints the last two years
have been jobbed, right. I mean, well I was on
First Things First last week and I did pick the Saints,
you know, but I've thought about it. So you had
the Saints, and then what made you change? I just
like I looked at the Cowboys and when they've been whole,

(59:44):
they've been a very good team. We know they were
thirteen and three a few years ago. I think this
team is better than that team was the year they
lose six games of Zeke, they still go nine and seven.
I know they didn't make the playoffs, but with him
they probably would have made it. And then in last
year ten and six, nothing to write home about. But
they were a good team once they got Amari Cooper

(01:00:07):
and you know, I know they lost the first game
with him, but you know, he wasn't really a part
of the offense yet. Then they went seven and one
down the stretch and so and they beat some good teams,
including Philadelphia and so. I I really think that this
Cowboys team. I like they've signed most of their guys.
Their offensive line is arguably the best in the league.

(01:00:29):
You obviously got the great running back. I think Dack's
a winner. I think with amar he proved that he
can be a better quarterback Kellen Moore than He's gonna
add a little gusto to their play calling and the defense.
They're small, but they're good. I just didn't chance I
give you credit because I don't see them. Most of

(01:00:50):
the NFL people have them in the middle of the
pack man and I even buying into the Cowboys. But
all right, I guess we'll waiting to see you on that,
and you'll be the one. You'll be the big one out. Yeah.
I don't know. There's a lot of people picking up cowboys.
I haven't really looked at me and skip. I think,
oh no, wonder might be the first time skipping. I
agreed on anything. I'm sure you go. I do like Dak,

(01:01:12):
I think you do. You're that guy. Yeah, I guess so,
I guess so, all right. Rob Parker always says sports

It's time ride for one of your favorite games of
the week, foul or fair, this time with our Man
and JR. Gamble from the shadow League dot Com that
ball is it was a big week in the Big League.
Who's Who's Is it foul or is it fair? And

(01:02:16):
now here's the odd couple with shadow League dot Com
MLB insider JR. Gamble that's right at his foul A
fair of the Akama Fox Sports Radio the debut at
its new time slot every Wednesday at eight thirty pm Eastern,
where we invite one of our MLB insiders, not Rob Parker.
He's just a guy to come in and share his

(01:02:38):
thoughts on three of the hottest topics around the baseball
to thirty three years. I'm just a guy, just the guy.
My goodness this week's and after you bought him a
pair of Jordan's too, when you bow me a pair
of Jordan's robe, I wouldn't. I won't say that. Well,
you know what, Rob g works so hard for the
show Men as Chris, Why are you turning around at

(01:02:58):
Jordan conversation? You've been owing Rob some Jordan's. You're killing me.
If y'all keep bringing it up and see what kind
of George killing me? Tonight's worst Jordan's ever none other
than the shadow League dot Com MLB Inside of the
one and only j R. Gamble j R. How are
you feeling this evening? Who what's up? Fellas? I'm back.
It's the incomparable odd couple that together again. This is

(01:03:20):
my first time since for a long time, having you
guys together, the proper energy of the greatest tandem on
the radio. Oh man, my man, there will go he
going for some Jordan's. Everybody wants George's summer. All right, guys,
let's get right to it. I got three baseball stories here.

(01:03:42):
If the guys think the story is fair, you're gonna
hear this sounds fall. If they think it's foul, you're
gonna hear this sound that is a foul ball. So
let's get started. Story number one, guys, the New York
Mets completed arguably the greatest collapse in recent sports history.
They somehow blew a six run lead to the Nationals

(01:04:03):
in the ninth inning. Now the Mets have lost eight
of their last eleven entering Wednesday, and now they've fallen
five games back in the wild Card. So Jr. Is
it Fouler ferns that the Mets made a big mistake
by not being sellers at the trade dead line last month?
That is a foul ball. Feller. We had this exact

(01:04:25):
conversation about a month or so ago. I told you
the Mess needs to stay packed, try to win the
wild cards. Definitely, don't sell off their young arms. The
problem has always been the manager and the front office
with them. Wrong guys will hired for the job. I
told them months ago, hire bowl porter. They didn't listen.
The Mess need to add part that offensive players to

(01:04:47):
go with McNeil and Alonso. They didn't listen. I told
him make Marcus Strowan the closer, because you're not throble
started picture anymore. They didn't listen. That's their biggest weakness.
Edwin dis isn't fill for the big Apple. They didn't listen.
Let's have a real shot. They still aren't far off,
but they got the wrong guys running the operation. I'm

(01:05:09):
with JayR on this. Uh, I'm going to foul as well.
That is a foul ball. Look they went for it.
I'm not going to blame a team for going for it.
They were close, and they had a great pitching staff.
What you said was right, Jr. But their pitching straff
obviously was their strength, and they brought in Stroman and

(01:05:29):
I agree. They could have used them differently, should have
used them differently, But they went out and added him
to their great starting staff, and they had to feel
good that they had a shot. So I'm not mad
at them for going forward. They lost, they messed up,
but I'm not gonna kill them for taking a run
at it. I actually admire that. I'm gonna say it's fair.

(01:05:50):
It's all a mirage. The New York Metropolitans are mirage
when it came time to go look at the game
they won. After the All Star break, they played nothing
but bad teams and also rans. As soon as they
had to play better teams like Washington and like Philadelphia
and all that, then they shriveled up. They never fixed

(01:06:13):
their bullpen. They're not contenders, they're pretenders. The Mets should
have sold all right. Story number two. By the way,
Rock Parker only one who got to answer Ray. Of
course I did. Story number two. You're just trying to
butter him up after he already got the George. I know,
but I exposed him and he felt bad. Whatever. Story

(01:06:36):
number two. The Dodgers have been one of the most
dominant baseball teams of the decade. They're closing on their
seventh consecutive and LS crown. Each year they won the
division by an average of nine games. They're killing it.
The only problem is, for all their success, they still
have not won a World Series. They've lost the last two.
So here's the question, JR. Is it foul or fairness

(01:06:58):
that this current era of Dodgers baseball will be considered
a failure if they don't win the World Series in
the next two seasons. That is fair It's a fair ball.
As much as I love Dave Roberts, this current error
will be considered a failure if he doesn't win in
the next two years. He doesn't want to become the

(01:07:19):
Marvel Levi of MLB managers, leaving lost four straight Super
Bowls and Roberts faces losing the World Service for the
third straight time. Eventually, you have to start using the
word choke magic and these guys putting the team together
and they team roll through the regular season, but they've
laid down in the playoffs. If he doesn't win, you

(01:07:40):
might have to talk about replacing Dave Roberts with a
manager that can get him over the hume. I agree
with you, JR. I think that's fair ball. I'm sorry.
It's about winning that the Dodgers haven't won in thirty
one years. Enough already with winning the division, the NL
West crown and to what they beating. Look of the
teams in the West stopping that impressive the Giants, while

(01:08:03):
the Giants doing all those years won three World Series
and now you know they're on the back end. And
you take a look at it and just say the
Dodgers have to win a World Series anything short of it,
and they are the Buffalo Bills of Major League Baseball. Well,
I'm with you, guys. I mean, I just can't call

(01:08:24):
it any other way. It's fair. Look, I mean you
always say it, rob there's a short menu. It's about
winning the World Series, and JR. Hit it on the head.
If they can't deliver, then at some point you gotta
look at it and say, you know what, they choked
the big stage bother them, whether it be you know,

(01:08:47):
the front office with their analytical moves, whether it be Roberts,
whether it be the players themselves. If they don't win
a World Series and they keep winning the division title,
maybe even keep getting there, then there's no nothing left
for us to conclude but that they choke even though
they land the Braves. I mean that way to what
eleven straight playoffs in the Earth the nineties and the

(01:09:09):
early two won adividual like sixteen out of seventeen years.
It was unbelievable. They did at least get one World
Series one on a humble that was all they got. Yeah,
and even that, I mean, we still remember more for
being this dominant team that couldn't get it done for
the most part on the big stage. They did win
the one, but yeah, they gotta win it, no doubt.

(01:09:33):
And now we know why the Odd Couple is not
live in Los Angeles. Story number three that that hurt
that hurts are killing me? Wow. Story number three the
Odd Couple of foul affair with Shadow League dot COM's JR. Gamble.
Are you short talking about our Dodger take? Or is
about high ratings? Don't know? I'm sorry, I don't know.

(01:09:55):
I'm just kidding. Justin Verlander Notch the third no hitter
of his career over the weekend, adding to an already
illustrious Hall of Fame resume, eight time All Star World
Series Champ, League MVP cy Young Award winner. He's got
it all. However, according to at least one analytics metric,
the Jaffee wins above replacement score. It's called the jaws

(01:10:18):
for short. He's a full two points behind the average
Hall of Fame pitcher. So here's the question, Jr. Is
if Fouler fair to say that even if vern Lander
makes the Hall of Fame, he probably won't make it
on the first ballot. Business that that is a foul ball.

(01:10:40):
You're basing Lander's career on the waffling wings above. Replace
the metric. The fact that you used that metric to
dispress Verland his obvious Hall of Fame career. It does
backlas to me as you know why Kevin Hart ran
from the team in his latest accident. But we won't
talk about that right now. We don't have time for that. No,

(01:11:03):
we don't. But that's two thousand and eleven. Come on, guys,
twenty four win season, seventh season, or fifteen and one
wins today, that might as well be the equivalent of
twenty win seasons. He's the reason why the Strokes won
the World. Thy hes lights out playoff pitching right now,
at the top of his game, those metrics don't matter
his first ballot, especially if he leads them to another

(01:11:24):
World Series this season. I'm with you, it would be
foul to say that he wouldn't be a first first
time of first ballot. That is a foul. Can you
just use the yeah, can you use the eye tests?
Can we just use the eye tests Forget about all
the stats, because we know what the stats are, their
Hall of Fame stats numbers. He wons so young and

(01:11:48):
league MVP together, already won a World Series. He's been
to the All Star Game over and over. I mean,
are you kidding me? This is why I have a
problem with with analytics. Just look at what he's been
able to put together in his career. He is a
Hall of Famer. I don't know how he wouldn't be
on in the first ballot. It's foul. That is a

(01:12:13):
foul ball. You guys have said it all. This guy
is tremendous and I mean what he did before going
to Houston was great. And now he's experiencing the rejuvenation.
I mean, he's led the league and whipped the last
two years. You know, led the league in games started
the last two years. This year he's leading the league
in in er A. He's playing lights out, pitching lights out, Baseball,

(01:12:35):
and he might just lead the Astros to another World
Series title. This dude is the epitome of a first
ballot Hall of Famer. No if sands or butts about it,
all right? That is Fouler fair. Make sure you check
out Jr. Every week on Rob Parkers Inside the Parker

on the internet was just incredible. Bet Online. Okay, bet

(01:15:22):
Online just released I don't even want to go into
how they came to it, but basically there's a how.
They released some type of analytics that showed the effect
that the starting quarterbacks have on their team. So if
you take that quarterback away, how the line would be

(01:15:43):
dramatically different. The point spread would move with you know,
with that quarterback on the sidelines. Aaron Rodgers was the highest.
The line would drop seven and a half points if
he didn't play in his backup play instead. All right,
Pat Mahomes, second, Russell Wilson, Tom Brady, all three of
those guys at seven that the line would drop seven points.

(01:16:05):
Every other starting quarterback in the league the line would
drop well, either drop or be zero. There were three
where it was at zero, Andy Dalton, Case Kingdom and
our Boy Ryan Fitzpatrick fitz Magic zero. Okay, So no
effect whatsoever on the line Eli Manning. According to bet Online,

(01:16:30):
the Giants would actually be better with Eli on the bench.
The line would go up a point if Eli didn't play.
What you think about that, that's unbelievable. It is actually
when you think about it, that that Eli fed faired
that lowly. But when you when you're honest about it, though,

(01:16:53):
this is why his regular seasons, people don't really put
too much stock in you know what I mean when
they won some Super Bowl Yeah, because even I think
one of the Super Bowls, weren't they eight and eight
that year or something? And they just got into on
eight and eight or nine and seven. Well, they were
a wild card. I don't I don't think their record
was that poor. It wasn't great. I bet you couldn't
have been more. I might have been nine and seven,

(01:17:14):
but it wasn't great. And that's the issue with Eli.
But that that is amazing though, that you know that
betting looked down on Eli that badly. Yeah, no question
about it. Look, I hope I picked him to be
Offensive Player of the Year. He probably won't play enough
games to win it, but I do think he'll when

(01:17:35):
he gets the chance to play. And I do think
he'll get it. Daniel Jones. I do think he'll play well,
and I think he'll look like the best rookie uh
in the moments that he's out there on the field.
All Right, it's the Eye Couple. One hour left. You

(01:18:19):
Is we prepare for the opening night Tomorrow night, the
Green Bay Packers Chicago Bears open up the twenty nineteen
NFL season, and Rob and I both made our predictions
the last hour just to recap. Rob had Green Bay
beating the h Lah Chargers in the Super Bowl. I

(01:18:43):
had the Kansas City Chiefs beating the Dallas Cowboys in
the Super Bowl. And I think each of one of
each of us. Our boldest prediction was Rob had the
Jets making the playoffs in the AFC. I had the
Rains falling all the way off and missing the playoffs

(01:19:04):
this year. So those are our bold predictions. You can
check them out on Twitter, Fox Sports Radio dot com.
I think yours is much bolder than mine, really, that
they wouldn't make the playoffs, not get back to the
super Bowl. And the time has happened where teams have
gone to the super Bowl and then not made the playoffs.

(01:19:24):
But I just don't see them losing that much to
where they're not going to have fallen off that big.
That's that's going If you get that one right, I'm
gonna tip my cap to you. You're gonna buy me
some Jordan's. Oh no, that's why. Look we'll see. I
mean I have been saying they're gonna win the division.
I've been saying it with some hesitancy because I expected

(01:19:46):
them to fall off a little bit. A few things.
NFC I do think is incredibly tough. I mean, Caroline,
I don't have making the playoffs. I think San Francisco
can have a nice year. You know, there's some good
teams Atlanta out there, that aren't gonna make the playoffs.
And I think that the boy wonders great young coach

(01:20:06):
Sean McVeigh. But I think people may have found some
things out about him in that Super Bowl, and I
think teams are gonna come back and played him a
little bit tougher. And I'm concerned about Ty Gurley. I
think if Gurley isn't himself, then they are not the
same team. But we will see for sure. And speaking
of bold statements, you made a doozy of a statement

(01:20:31):
today on Undisputed that shocked the world. Not jes skipping Shanning. Here.
It is this contract and this deal is an indictment
of Dak Prescott. That's why Ezekiel Elliott has this contract.
This is a quarterback league skipped Bayless. This ain't about

(01:20:51):
a running back. The last running back who led the
league and won a Super Bowl played with this man
back in nineteen ninety eight. This is what Jerry Jones
is scared to death. We saw Pat Mahal, Patrick Mahomes
lose Kareem Hunt, who was the leading rushers rookie year
right lost him, still got to the AFC Championship Game

(01:21:12):
and still had a chance the Cowboys and Jerry Jones
nos Dak Prescott is a third tier quarterback, isn't good
enough to lead the team. Can't go it with Pollard
and just put any running back in there. This team
is geared for Ezekiel Elliott. He's the most important player.

(01:21:32):
And this is why he got the deal. Most teams
would have star quarterback would have been able to say,
you know what, we'll come back to you later. And
it's true, Chris, I don't know what you're talking about.
When you think I made some off the wall crazy
comment on Undisputed, Jerry caved. He exposed himself. He told

(01:21:54):
us that he doesn't believe in Dak Prescott, that Dak
Prescott can't beat the all so rams of the NFL.
He's afraid to play the Giants or the Redskins or
the Dolphins without having his prize running back in a
quarterback league. Look around the NFL, it's all about the quarterback.

(01:22:17):
We just saw Patrick Mahomes lose Kareem Hunt, and you
know what, they still marched on. They were one play
away from going to the super Bowl when Tom Brady
threw that pick that was nullified because of the off
side by Ford My point is the Cowboys could have
made dakt Ezekiel Ellick come to them and begged to

(01:22:41):
get his job back. If they just went three and
old Jerry would have been in the driver's seat, they
wouldn't have had to give Ezekiel Elliott fifty million dollars
and we set the quarterback market. That's what they did.
That's what they claimed. They weren't of the running back market.
That's what they said that they weren't gonna do Chris.
They said they didn't care what the Rams gave Todd Gurley.

(01:23:04):
They're not doing that. And what a bully thing Roy
Parker that got exposed was Jerry Jones was negotiating. Didn't
believe a word he was saying because he was. He
was strictly negotiating, and that training camp means nothing. That's
what got exposed. The fact that they decided to pay

(01:23:24):
their best player, who happens to be a running back,
money that he deserves, has nothing to do with them
not believing in Dak Prescott. And you're about to find
out in short order how much they believe in Dak Prescott,
because they're gonna give him about thirty three to thirty
four million dollars a year and maybe more guaranteed money

(01:23:49):
than any quarterback in NFL. But that doesn't justify it.
The Lions does. The Lions didn't even him, They wouldn't pay.
The Lions did the same thing Mat Steffy playoff Matt Stay.
Don't believe in Matt Steffor. They had no choice. We're
the same thing. They have no choice. Couldn't let him walk,
no one, They couldn't. Now, they couldn't do it. He

(01:24:12):
was there pick. He's their player that he was in
line for that money because he was the first over
Arizona's pick. No, but that did happened? And what did
they have They had somebody in the wings when they
made the draft pick. They don't have anybody to do
that would who would be the Cowboys quarterback? Then? If
they did that? Making no, I'm not I'm not making

(01:24:33):
no sense. Just because they gave me because the money.
Because the Rams made Tie Gurley the highest BADE running
back in history a year ago, does that mean they
didn't believe in Jared goff No? Because different Because because
the Falcons made DeVante Freeman the highest BADE running back
in the league a few years ago, Did that mean
they didn't believe in Matt Ryan? Never? Right? One, MP,

(01:24:55):
What are you talking about? Because you put Matt Ryan
and you put Pat Mhole and Dak Prescott in the
same sentence. How could you bit No, because the Jets
paid Levian Bell, does that mean they have no confidence
in Sam Darnel. No, but those guys off, Those guys
are holding out. Pittsburgh didn't pay Levion, he held out.
And my point is they were desperate. They did not

(01:25:19):
want to face those Also, Ranzo's bad team. You don't.
We just Dak Prescott And that's why Skip was speechless.
He knew I had him this morning. He couldn't have
to Skip. And I'm not speechless. You don't know what
to say arguments like a sniper. No, No, you know
what to say. I'm just giving you about five arguments

(01:25:40):
that crushed you and key sense really yes, but makes
sense that because the Cowboys paid the best running back
in the league, the best money in the league for
a running back that they don't believe in their quarterbacks
know they're about to make the richest quarterback in NFL history.
And you're the guy. You're the guy who all this

(01:26:01):
whole tub Uh, this whole um hole. That holdout were
the one saying, Oh, if I was Jerry, I played
the first couple of games without it's me, that's what
you were saying. And then all of a sudden, and
then all of a sudden, Jerry, Well, because he's afraid
to go into those games. Those cupcake gubs schedule games
without him the money with him. But that's not the

(01:26:24):
reason why he paid him. If that was the case,
he would have paid him a month ago, two weeks ago, Chris,
he crumbled, he caves. That's the boy, isn't This actually
isn't a horrible deal. Now, I think Zach Zeke won
because he got his fifty million guarantee versus what he
have twelve million guarantee. You're thinking he won big time.

(01:26:47):
This deal does not break the Dallas Cowboys. I mean,
over the eight years, is the average of twelve slid
over twelve million dollars a year, and that fifteen million
even in three three years isn't gonna be you know,
huge for running backs. So again, I'm Zeke one, but
to act like this is gonna crush the Cowboys, No,

(01:27:10):
it's not. And they got him locked up for the
next eight years. So your logic is way off, and
they ain't way off. That's the reason that he got
the deal, why he got announced Otherwise, Chris that he
would have never had to have if they were gonna
pay him and make him the richest quarter of running back,
they would have never had to pay him, never had

(01:27:31):
to have him have a holdout, because they would have
just acknowledged that he is the best running back in
the league and paid the man. The only reason that
they came around when they did was they didn't want
to go into the season without him because they don't
buy into Dak Prescott being that. Let me ask you this,
when they paid in nineteen ninety three, when they paid

(01:27:54):
nineteen let me let me make the statement, when they
paid him at Smith, did they not believe in Troy Aikman,
Because you know they didn't they feeling already won a
Super Bowl right precisely, so they they already saw how
good Troy Aikman was, but they still knew it was
a different and you know that Crystal they needed him

(01:28:17):
Smith was a different stopping flawed. No, it's not because
that hasn't done anything. No, you can't in you can't
even look at it. You can't even look at the
same way. They had a Super Bowl champion quarterback and
they still knew they needed they're all pro running backs.
Is a quarterback league? Now it's a quarterback league. It

(01:28:39):
ain't about running backs. You know running backs or Diamond
doesn't know that. No, they know it was really why
running backs were big time back then why haven't more
running backs that led the league in Russian won super Bowls?
If it was a running league, still wasn't a running league?
Bat the best you had all those guys, did he

(01:28:59):
win any Super Bowl? But it was still Sanders? They
still did He want to know I'm proving you wrong. No,
you're not proving me wrong. Play two playoffs? And why
they give them parriesers? How many did he plays? Why
they give them carries? Then? If if they didn't need
it running back because the analytics didn't tell him what
it's telling them now. They didn't know these great running

(01:29:21):
backs route history. You're talking about a quarterback who was
a third tier quarterback to Sanders who were great running backs,
Eric Dickerson who never even never won Super Bowl. They
don't believe in Dak and that's why they had to
give you believe it? What do I do believe that?
They don't believe at this argument down nine different ways.

(01:29:42):
They don't believe. They don't believe. Why they're gonna pay
him thirty three million because that's what the system calls for,
and that's why he's just they may have just paid
z because that's what the system. No, because he was
already under contract, and they could have waited two more years.
He he was under contract, Chris. That's why they didn't

(01:30:03):
have to pay off. They didn't have to pay them.
They could have told him we're not paying you no
matter what. No, they couldn't because he's important to him
that they couldn't win. It just he is more important, well,
not more important, he's more better. No, the quarterback is
always No, it's not he's a better player, not on

(01:30:24):
the Cowboys. You just you just saying this. You don't
believe it. You don't believe it. I don't believe you
believe it because because it doesn't make sense. Doesn't there's
no way that makes sense. Just because they paid the
best running back in the league the best running back
money means they're believing their quarterback. But they're about to

(01:30:45):
make the richest quarterback. Yeah, they don't believe in them,
because why they're gonna make him the richest quarter That's
the stupidest thing they could do if they don't believe
any because that's why the system pays the quarterbacks who
are next in line. That's what it is. It doesn't
have anything to do with uh like a gesturability. Why

(01:31:05):
because if that's the pay Kirk cousin, they never believed
in them. They gave them two franchise No, but they
gave them two. They gave them two franchise tags, and
they like, why don't they franchise tag that? Then they
should I would do it. Nah, But they believe in him.
They don't believe in them. That's why they That's why
that they signed Ezekiel Elliott. That's that's the tenth way

(01:31:27):
I shot down. They told him, we're not paying you,
We're not gonna we're lucky. I don't we're not changing them.
To get in the middle of this, we're not called
we're not changing them. We're not changing the mic well,
I mean, we're not changing the running back uh salary scale.
And then they just caved in because they don't want
to go one and two against the also Rams, they

(01:31:50):
would have beat two, at least two of those three
teams they're playing. But they want their team whole. They
know they can't win a Super Bowl without Zekes. Robinson
came on and told us he might have sat out
six weeks or nine weeks. All right, let's see what
the listeners think. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven nine nine sixty three sixty nine Ezekiel

(01:32:13):
Elliott's mega deal an indictment of Dak Prescott. You'll turn
the way in the eye couple of Fox Sports Radio.

it out to the callers. Let's see if they're feeling

(01:34:02):
you or they're feeling me. Was Zeke's contract a in
indictment on DAK eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
All right, Mike in New York, you're on the odd
couple Fox Sports Radio. What you got, Mike? What's up
you guys? What's up? Bro? Yeah, I gotta see. I'm
feeling you Rob on this one. And Rob, I think

(01:34:22):
you let Chris off on a few of those examples.
He set like, they made Troy sweat it out those
for these two games and they lost. Then they paid
him in set right, let me but let me yeah,
So did they not believe in Troy? They made him
sweat it out because they believed them, and they an't
sound out they were wrong, but hear me out they

(01:34:44):
do that means they know everything. They found out they
were But this is why you yell no, just listen.
They don't believe in Dak. It's obvious because every other
quarterback young quarterback has been signed already and they every
should thing on him. They watched him daily. It's kind

(01:35:04):
of like the Kirk cutting thing. They made everything about him.
Why didn't he pay it? And why are they trying
to get him for a bargain if they believe two
why in a year. Hold on, now you listen. Now
it's thirty two millions. Why it's thirty two million a year?
A bargains he gonna get at least thirty two millions.

(01:35:25):
They paid quarterback. They got him at a discount. Why
he would get a lot more money if he went
on the free agent market. Hey, Mike, you would pay
the quarterback first. If he was your you would have
paid him. You would have held he wore, God he was.

(01:35:46):
He was in camp already. I would have told, uh, Ezekiel,
do you have to wait him? He's about holding exactly.
There was a report that Dak wanted forty millions for
a cupcake. Give me another collar for Mike to appreciate
your call. Thank you. Let's go to a Green and Charlotte.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Green

(01:36:08):
what you got? Hey? I agree that third rate? Look
at a completion percentage. Look at what he's done. Not
a thing he compares to average quarterbacks. He does not
h How are they talking about? How is he? How
has he won more games than any starting quarterback because
they got defense and running, but they were they were

(01:36:34):
without Zeke for six of those games. And he still
has more wins than everybody except time braiding. But Chris,
everybody knows that that team would explain it. They also
have a good defense, have a great offensive line. There's
a lot of stuff. He's a third rate when you
look at this stuff. You have never once heard me
say he's not third tier. Never once. I'm my only

(01:36:58):
argument is you saying the cow Boys don't believe in him.
They don't. He's not Pat Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady,
Drew Brees. We can go on and on down the line.
I've never said he's a top five, even top ten quarterback.
I'm with you on third tier. But he is a
winner and he can. You can win super Bowls with him,

(01:37:18):
and the Cowboys know that and believe it. That's all
I'm saying. Dave in Virginia, you're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What you got, hey, man, Chris,
you right? I don't think listen, listen. I don't understand
all the hate around deck he if I'm not miss thinking.
He won the offensive player his rookie year over Zeke.

(01:37:41):
He went thirteen and three. His first year, he went
nine to seven, win Zeke miss six games, and then
we went ten and six last year. Dave, Dave, Dave,
hold on, hold on, you just said something. Have you
looked at the stats and looked at the at the
scouts and the general managers and the coaches when they
rate the players, how come they rank him as a
third tier quarterback? Listen, listen, listen. They can rank him

(01:38:04):
at whatever he wants, but the point is he wins games. Parker,
It's not real quick. If you ask any player in
the Dallas Cowboys locker room who the leader of the
team is, they will tell you Dak Prescott is Zekiel
Elliott is the best player on the team, But Dak

(01:38:25):
Prescott is the leader and he can get the job done.
I'm not sitting up here saying he's a top five quarterback.
But Dave, Dave, if you're years ago da talking, I'm not.
I'm not buying. I'm not. Call Chris, you're looking brod terrible.

(01:38:45):
Call Max and Georgia. You're in the yard couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Max? Hey? Rob? What's going on? Man?
You already know what's direction I'm going with this. So
I'm still waiting for Dak Prescott to get me twenty
five touchdowns a year. You want? Do you want Todowns? Well,
I'm not a Dallas card with a fan at all.

(01:39:06):
But let me let me say this, Chris though, so
Ezekiel Elliott, Uh, you know with with he's the He's
the runner of that team, along with that offensive line.
That helps it helps any defense, any defense. They have
to have a good team. Who's the leaders? Last, I'm
the leader of the team in my opinion, I don't
know who it is I would talk to say it's
one of the linemen or one of the defensive players.

(01:39:28):
Is Dak? You know he's the best player. I know that.
Never Didny that Zeke's the best player. Dak's the leader?
Dak last? Go ahead, Max, go ahead? No, I'm sorry, crab,
I had mean to cut you up. Last year, the
Cowboys defensive ranked number one and points and yards in
the NFC. So I mean, I just I struggle with
giving Dak all that credit. And again I'm with Rob.

(01:39:50):
Rob already knows that he's not a He's not a
thirty million I would give him twenty seven million, you would,
but you know what he's about to get at least
thirty two, at least at least they didn't Rob. If
they didn't believe him, they do him like the Redskins
did Kirk Cousins. Well, I'm right, I would give him
a franchise, Tagger. I need to see one more year.

(01:40:10):
I wouldn't give him the contract, and if he has
a breakout year, then I'll pay him next year. I
just don't believe in him. Get the Fire Department on
standby Fox Sports Radio. Analyst, broadcaster, all around renaissance man
Brian Noah is about to slide into the hot seat.

You can hear him on Saturday nights from eight to
eleven pm alongside Eve from Salam right here on Fox

(01:40:57):
Sports Radio, and also weekday afternoons on Rip City Radio
six twenty in Portland on his own show, The Brian
no Show. Our main man Brian know is about to
step in the hot seat. Damn son, the cool temperature.
The odd couple are making it hot in here. Damn
hot time to sit your bunt down in the hot seat.

(01:41:23):
That's right, it is the hot seat. The couple of
Fox Sports Radio would do this every single Wednesday, not
thirty pm. Meter we invite one of our Fox Sports
Radio teammates to get into the squared circle with the
tag team champions, Chris Brussar, Rob Parker, the I Couple,
and tonight's victim. I don't know if I suld say that,
though I think he's a defending champion. Last time he

(01:41:43):
was here on the hot seat. None of some shady
judging that time, none other than the future Laker himself. Brian. No, Brian, however,
on everybody Now you're right, Rob, I was three and
oh perfect undefeated last time. So I reverse the hot seat.
They are now on the hot seat that Brian, No.

(01:42:04):
We we need you to clear something up last week
when you went to lunch with Rob. You asked me
to lunch before which Rob was the range the booty call.
Oh wow, No, see you always trying to start some
drama here, Chris. I love both of you guys, I

(01:42:27):
texted simultaneously. I've got two phones, and I texted, I
hit saying it at the same time. I got my
feelings hurt. Now if you text Chris first, you only
worked with that guy for a cup of coffee in
the sweet roll. Yeah, and he stiffed me. He still
hasn't paid up with the chicken wings from last year's

(01:42:49):
Brian No, did I pay you when I bet you
every single time? And promptly yes? And Brian No lost
to me and he paid off promptly. Right. You know what,
Now I know why Brian know is the defending hot
seat champion because he immediately caused a riff between the
alcohol divided conquer Actually, I know it was gonna be

(01:43:14):
the three of us going to lunch. So all right,
let's get right to it. Brian's got three very hot takes.
Let's get started. Take number one, he says that the
Dallas cowboy's been talking about him all show screwed up
by giving Zeke fifty million dollars guaranteed. Brian, you got
thirty seconds stay your case. Yeah, they absolutely screwed up.

(01:43:34):
I don't know why you wouldn't use your leverage to
your advantage. You start off with some week teams, the Giants,
the Dolphins, who are gonna stink out loud, and the Redskins.
You don't have to pay Zeke number one running back money.
Let you let that offensive line eat, let Tony Pollard eat.
Use your leverage, let that price come down, because you're

(01:43:55):
gonna need that money to spread around to the rest
of the roster. That's really good. So they just didn't
use their leverage. They screwed this thing up absolutely, Dallas Cowboys,
Shame on you, Brian. No. They have a quarterback who's
a third tier quarterback that they don't trust, don't believe in.
That's why they were afraid to play to also rans.

(01:44:17):
They had to have their best player in the game
starting from game one. That's why they paid him. And
he deserved to get paid. He's one of the best,
if not the best, running back in the league. Ah yes,
but the market was headed the other way. Look at
Leon Bell. Leveon Bell got less than Todd Gurley, and

(01:44:41):
then the Cowboys come over the top of both of
those deals Gurley and Leveon Bell and pay Ezekiel Elliott
number one money. He's a great running back, but you
can get him for cheaper. I love Chick fil A.
I'm not going to spend fifty dollars for a meal.
There doesn't mean that I dislike it. It just means
I'm not a sucker. I'm not gonna overpay Brian know.

(01:45:04):
Stop it, all right, I get what you're saying. The
Cowboys did have leverage, they didn't really have to do this.
But the fact is they're not losing by paying Zeke
what they paid him. They've already locked up just about
all of their offensive line. They got the best offensive
line in football. They're gonna lock up their quarterback Dak
who's a winner, and you know it. They're gonna lock

(01:45:24):
up Amari Cooper next year. They already locked up their
great linebacker, Jalen Smith. They may lose Brian Jones and
that's a loss, but they'll fill that spot with somebody else.
They've drafted tremendously and over the next eight years, Zeke's
contract averages twelve million a year. That's not a killer deal.
Not enough money. Chris Bruce starting to pay everybody fat

(01:45:47):
fat on the Cowboys points taken off from Brian No
for hitting after the bell. You know the finily rob
made some good takes, but round one go to the odd. Yeah,
that's a that's an I gotta obey the rules here.
That's the only way I can count, all right. Topic
number two, the hot seat, the couple. Fox Sports Radio

(01:46:11):
Brian no in with the guys. Brian says that the
Chicago Bears, I believe they are the reigning NFC North champions.
We'll have a losing record this season. Brow, you got
thirty seconds stay your case. That's right for numerous reasons.
Over here, you lose your defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio. He's

(01:46:31):
now the Broncos head coached. The Bears had thirty six
takeaways last season. That's a ton No way they match
that again this season. That's gonna put more on the offense.
I throw a better deep ball than Mitch Trubisky. I
haven't thrown a football for two years. I throw a
better deep ball. You got a tough schedule NFC North,
no pushovers, you play a first place schedule, and you

(01:46:52):
got Mitch Drubisky taking risks running the football. He's gonna
be banged up. Losing record for the Bear one. First
of all, Brian, know you're sorely overrating your own ability.
You don't throw it better than me, let alone Miss Trubisky,
and that fence is going to be tremendous. Khalil Mack
is about to be the defensive player of the year.

(01:47:15):
They are going to be knocking heads and Miss Trubisky.
Miss Trubisky is improving. He's getting better every year. He's
going to have a solid years. He Aaron Rodgers, No,
but he will be good enough for this team to
make the playoffs. I'll tell you who Mitch Trubisky is.
Mits Trubisky is the fourth quarterback out of four teams

(01:47:39):
in the NFC North. Give me Aaron Rodgers, that's a
no brainer. Give me Kirk Cousin, give me Matthew Stafford.
I think all of them over. Miss Trubisky's too inconsistent.
He doesn't throw a good deep ball at all, and
I do throw a better deep ball than both Mitch
Trubisky and Chris Brussard. They are the Bears are going
to be the Jacksonville Jaguars of this season, just like

(01:48:01):
they were in a playoff team AFC championship game and
then boom five and eleven. That's gonna be the Bears.
I gave him seven and nine tops. Stop it, Brian, Wow,
they weren't a fluke last year. They won because they
have defense and they're still loaded on defense. And that's
going to be the reason why you keep talking about

(01:48:23):
Mitch Traubisky. It's not gonna be. He's not gonna be
the reason why. He will just do enough. That's all
they need him to do. When you have a superb defense.
We've seen no name quarterbacks win super Bowls with stellar defenses,
and that's what the Bears have. They will make the
playoffs and they will make noise. Boy, Brian knows a

(01:48:48):
bad day strong. I saw some left hooks, I saw
some upper cuts, and most sign fall to you know
what they're hitting after the bell Anyway, I've played out
here most of the power punches. According to Coffee Box
landed by Brian. Now, oh god, it's all tied up.

(01:49:09):
You have no shame, dude. To the last topic, the
most controversial topic of the night, We saved the best
for last. Brian Know, who now lives out here on
the West Coast, says that Velvita cheese on homemade tacos
is delicious. Brian, you got thirty seconds. I hope you

(01:49:31):
got a good case for this one. Tell us why, okay,
why because it's scrumptious. It takes delectable. You dice up
some Velvita cheese and some little triangles or some little rectangles,
you know, you throw them on your homemade tacos. Absolutely fantastic. Now,

(01:49:51):
this is it to say that all other cheeses are inferior.
Get them out of here. It's just to say they
should be one of your two cheeses. You should not
shun Velvita. I know it's like eating plastic. You're gonna
die early. Whatever it's worth it. It's that good. Don't
bet the cheese. Yes delicious on homemade taco. Velvita cheese

(01:50:13):
is so bad mice won't even eat it. As hard
as a rock. It is awful as the worst thing going.
It looks like somebody's pray painted a brick. I cannot
believe anybody would would sing the praises of Velvita cheese.
It is awful. It's barely living, and we don't want

(01:50:36):
it in our system. You're telling me that it's hard.
You're getting the wrong Velvita cheese, or you're storing it
the wrong way. It is soft. Velvita cheese is inviting it,
lets you in. It says here, get some great deliciousness.
You're invited, you know, and sagess ticket to the curb.

(01:50:57):
I just lost respect for you. I lost respect for you,
Rob Parker, and I love you, I love you like
a brother. But for you to see these disparaging things
about Velveta cheese, I don't think you've ever had it
what you said right there, I don't think you've ever
had it. First of all, Brian know the only cheese
that belongs on homemade TACCOs. It's craft all right, that's it.

(01:51:17):
Craft singles. You can cut them up, you can peel
them away from the little plastic paper and put them
on TACCOs. And this from a man who has the
palette of an eight year old. He eats a peanut
butter and jelly sandwich every single day, Parry. That's why
he's eats sting dong susi ques via a sausage putting jello.

(01:51:38):
I mean, come on, that's why he likes Velveta because
he eats like a six year old. You drink alla
sippy cup soup. That got oddly personal there at the end.
Why you know what I have no issue when guys
hit below the belt round three in the Championship to

(01:51:58):
the Yeah you're talking, how dare you future? Like? You
know what update your future? Son? You're not a huge
laker Mark. It was ugly. He had no choice, Brian.
He wanted to give you the victory, but it was
so ugly he had no choice. And Brian, you'll be
all right. Was sending over a case of cocoa butter

(01:52:21):
for you. You'll be all right. Yes, that sounds good
like half the stuff Chris made up right there. It's
not even truth, but you know I will Yeah, butter
and jelly sandwich every day I do. That's true. I
need butter and jelly sandwich almost every day. That is true.
That's all you need to know. He is the great
Brian No, great friend of both of ours, great broadcaster

(01:52:45):
right here on Fox Sports Radio. Catch him every Saturday
with The Knowing Salim Show and in his own show
every Monday through Friday afternoon. Rip City Radio six twenty
in Portland. My man, thanks for joining us, Thanks for
having you guys. Have a great night, all right, brother,
appreciate you more. I couple coming your way. Fox Sports Radio.

people think that Zeke signing his contract could be good

(01:53:53):
news for Melvin Gordon. I don't think so. I think
Melvin Gordon is still a man with out the team.
I disagree because there's interest in him. There's a couple
of teams now that I think that Philadelphia thing, Yeah,
there's two other teams I saw. I can't remember that, yeah,
Rob g I can't remember what a story I was
looking at. But but the Philadelphia thing is very interesting.

(01:54:17):
If they would have swoop in and pick him up
because I already liked the already liked the Eagles roster
and what they have, and to add a running back
of that caliber that would be awesome for the Eagles.
Well they offered, According to Albert Breer of MMQB Monday
Morning Quarterback, they offered Jordan Howard and then the right

(01:54:38):
to swap mid round picks in the draft in exchange
from Melvin Gordon, and the Charger would have to pay
like seven million dollars to Gordon to get him out
of there. If they can get this deal done without
having to pay that money, then I'm with it. Now
reports are that they want a first round pick as well.
I'm not gonna get a first round pick. I mean,

(01:54:59):
he's a really good player. I agree with you. If
if Philadelphia could get Melvin Gordon, I think it'd be great.
I think the Packers I haven't heard that they're interested,
but I think they should be a team that's trying
to get him as well, because one question mark on
them is their running game. Their defense supposed to be improved.
We know about Aaron Rodgers. Their running game is kind

(01:55:19):
of their biggest question mark. If they would, Yeah, absolutely, Chris,
if they would be able to get up back like
Melvin Gordon to go with what's going on. We know
the defense is better, we know Aaron Rodgers is healthy, boyd,
that would be a if I'm the that would be
so unpack or like do you know what I mean
from exactly I really did? Can you imagine? Yeah? So

(01:55:43):
so I would. I would be all in for that
if if I think somebody will look and go, you
know what, we might be able to swoop it at
the last minute and get that guy. And especially if
if the Chargers want to move forward, so I would
make that move. Yeah, either of those teams, the Eagles
or the Packers, he would be a great addition to
I don't think the Chargers are gonna miss him that much.

(01:56:04):
He is their best running back, but I think Austin
Eckler and Justin Jackson will be able to fill in
fine for him. All Right, It's the Eye Couple. Chris
Bruce or Rob Parker. Go to SoundCloud, iTunes, Apple podcasts,

Couple podcast downloaded. Leave us a comment. You know we'd

(01:56:27):
love a favorable comment, but leave us whatever you want
and ideally five stars and Chris and Robs signing off.
Will be back tomorrow as we always are the couple.
