Bears and the Packers, Mike Tomlin's shortcomings as a head coach,
and so much more, plus interviews with former Packers coach
(00:22):
Winston Moss, comedian Airy Spears, and MGM Sports book director
Lamar Mitchell. So here it is. The Friday edition of
The Odd Couple Podcast is coming your way right now.
Thanks for listening to The Odd Couple Podcast. Be sure

(00:42):
to ten pm Eastern four to seven Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio. Find your local station for The Odd Couple
at Fox Sports Radio dot com, or stream us live

Let's give this putty stunt. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio,
(01:09):
All yeah, it is The Couple. I'm Chris Brussard alongside
my partner Rob Parker, and we're coming to you live
from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studio. Fifteen minutes could
(01:31):
save you fifteen percent more on your car insurance. Visit
Geico dot com for a free rate quote. What a
day we always Uh, it's always tgif. Thank god it's Friday.
You know that. The weekends here, first weekend of pro football.
Last night, of course the season opener with the Packers
(01:53):
beating the Bears ten to three. So we'll get into that.
And Antonio Brown there's some some closure at least for
the time being, the his situation and opening, so we'll
get into that. And we got Celebrity Corner, a special
guest coming on, a comedian that'll be a hint within
the next one of our favorite guys. Yes, yea, be
(02:16):
fun and you can ask him some some tips because
I'm waiting when are you getting on the stage. I'm
gonna do it, but I'm gonna clean up my act
because I don't want to get fired. I don't want
to lose my TV job. I don't I don't want
to lose. Of course, we don't want you to lose
your job. And as you saw it, without getting too
deep into it, uh, you always like to say and
I'm not mad at you for it, but you always
(02:37):
like to say that. You know, comedians can kind of
just go wherever they want. No, I believe in that.
But yeah, I'm not saying you're wrong. But Dave Chappelle
went wherever he wanted and has gotten a lot of pushback.
Did you you saw that? Yeah, well things have changed
Sea if you've seen it. I haven't seen it, but
I heard about it. But things have changed since Dave Chappelle.
(02:58):
Life is different, right now, you know what I mean?
And right right, So people, it's kind of what we
told you probably like Look, even if the higher ups
were like, hey man, we're good with it. You know,
they had the same mentality as you. You can you know,
on the stage, you can joke about whatever you want.
Don't you remember, Chris, the public comes back differently, you
know what I mean, because it's not politically correct or whatever.
(03:20):
Then uh, Chris, Yeah, don't you remember the comedy club
we went to in Hollywood and the guy you remember
you were sorry man, VJ. No, No, no, this was
a different one. I thought you were there. I might
have been there. I thought you were there. But the
guy came on it was in Hollywood, West Hollywood and
started doing a lot of gay jokes and going crazy,
(03:42):
and boy, the audience pushed back big time. I thought
you were there for that, Chris, But it was that
wasn't the night we saw VJ. No, we went to
another night earlier with me you Martin and you were there.
I'm almost positive. But the guy was shocked, the comedian
that he got pushed back. And I'm just saying, it's
a different world. People aren't gonna sit there, pay money
(04:03):
and have you insult them. Right, It's just not gonna happen.
So now you so you cleaning it up? All right? Yeah,
I gotta clean it up. You can actually go now
in good conscience, yes, and see you. I have no
choice because, like I told you, I'm trying to hold
on the mid Here's the thing though, are you funny
without you know, the the edgy stuff? Yes, but I'm
(04:24):
gonna be edgy with you, mister Chris Bruschard. And you
start the show so you can stop stolen crew. Look,
I predict anything, No, no, what I would do, and
I stand by what I would do. Now, go ahead,
introduce the crew. Let's and then have your fun. You
know I am. Let's welcome into our couple. Crew wouldn't
(04:45):
be able to do this fine radio program without him.
Of course, Rob g is our producer Alex is our
engineer back in the saddle doing this thing. Our sports
anchor for the night, of course, mister Steve di Seger
wholl keep us a dated throughout the program. I'll intern
is Sam and Elijah is our social media guru. So
(05:07):
we are in full effect on this Friday. They are
on the other side of the glass and we're ready
to kick some ass. And I'm starting with you, Chris Bussard,
because you could not target stop it. You could not
have been more wrong about the way this whole thing
played out. And I warned you yesterday. I hold on,
(05:28):
I go off on me, but I never said it
was gonna happen. No, I know, but you said what
you were doing. I told you that you were overreacting,
That's what I said. I said that that didn't warn
the guy losing his gig in life, livelihood for arguing
with the general manager. And what did I say to you,
Mike Mayock? Who what general matter? What super Bowl has
(05:52):
he won? Mike Mayock might as well resign right now.
He's been turned to gool That's what he is, really, Chris.
He's nothing more than good. That's what John Gruden, you
know what talent always wins out no matter what. And
John Gruden looked at the two Do I want a
paper pusher who can't help me win games on the field?
(06:15):
Who do I want? One of the greatest receivers who
ever played the game and caught a football. That's who
we picked. That's why he's playing on Monday. This was
my exact point yesterday. I never believed he was gonna
be released and all this other talk people were talking crazy,
Oh yeah, this is it. This is the last straw.
(06:37):
You don't get rid of a talent like that over this. Now.
If you told me Chris he punched them in the
face and attacked them physically, that's totally different. People have
arguments all the time, and we don't even know about
ninety percent of them because they're never public. So my
point is that the Raiders did the right thing. They
(06:58):
made him apologize to the team. He gave a heartfelt apology,
and the teammates accepted it, and Mike Mayock apparently has
accepted it as well. And you moved forward, and I
think that he got the message. Okay, everybody, I guarantee
you we're not gonna hear more from him. I guarantee
you that, yes, Rack that all right, right, And I'm
(07:20):
telling you, yeah, I'm talking Oh my god, I'm just
guarantee you will hear or something about him within the
next two weeks. I'm talking about what went down. I'm
talking about what went down with Mike Mayock and that
I'm talking about that. That ain't that's not you see,
that's that's what. No, that's what I'm talking about. No,
because that was the reason, a part of it. But
(07:40):
that's the reason you said that. But that was the
reason yesterday the final straw that was It wasn't the
final straw. Told you it was so to me, So
tell me you thought, all right, so you at least
thought there would be a suspension. It wasn't even a suspension.
I'm just saying the reports were saying it was a suspension.
All I said yesterday, Rob Parker, is that if I
(08:02):
were running the Raiders and I saw an out, I
made a mistake by bringing this dude. And I don't
care how good he is, he's not one of us.
You talk about Mike Mayo, how many Super Bowls he's got,
how many's Antonio Brown got? How many appearances in the
Super Bowl? Does Antonio. Never talk about that when you
talk about wide receivers stopping stopping it, because that was
(08:23):
one of the most the lamest thing I've ever heard.
Its lame. If Christ this lame, what is the play
that has nothing to do with him? Antonio? He can't
play defense, playing football to do with him. The only
people we count super bowls or coaches and quarterbacks. Oh
we don't talk about a quarterbacks. How many club people
(08:43):
don't bring them bowls to the quarterback When my quarterback
is a general man, he barely a general manager. My
point is he's nothing bringing up with him. I'm friend
of all. I'm not even letting you get me sidetracked
because this has nothing to do with Mike May. Can
you admit that you were wrong about important? Done? How
(09:05):
all right? Look? Finish your spiel and then I'm going on.
I'm just saying, how were you not wrong? You're talking
about you would have cut him? How you have been
so wrong? They shit? And they did not only did
they not cut him, they didn't even suspend them playing
them done. You're just repeating yourself. I'm just telling you
I'm about You're wrong, you were wrong, you misread it.
(09:27):
I told you yesterday. You overfe you overreacted to nothing.
Guys blow up all the time. He's a talent. When
you look at Mike Mayock and you look at Antonio
Brown is no contest. That's what happened yesterday. They weighed
both of them, and I told you they're better off
with Antonio Brown. And that's why he will be on
(09:49):
the field on Monday, and no other reason. Are you done? Yes,
I just dropped the mic. I'm done. I didn't hear
any mic drop. I didn't hear any mic drop in
fat Let me let me lead off with a man,
a man, give me my sound, ROBG. I will not
(10:13):
tolerate players that think it's about them when it's about
the team and we cannot make we cannot make decisions
that cost the team and then come off the sideline
and it's nonchalant. No, you know what. This is how
I believe. Okay, I'm from the old school. I believe this.
(10:34):
I would rather play with ten people and just get
penalized all the way until we got to do something else,
rather than play with eleven when I know that right now,
that person is not sold out to be a part
of this team. It is more about them than it
is about the team that cannot play with them, cannot
win with them, cannot coach with them, can't do it.
(10:55):
I want winners. I want people that want to win.
That's a man, Rob Parker. Is he coaching in the
NFL or in NFL history? A super Bowl champion and
he coached his team like a man. I want winners?
(11:15):
What I wanted? He's still coaching. He was so good.
How many super Bowls did he want? That's what he
won one as a players, as a coach, Your boy,
I'm asking you, all right, here's the deal, Rob Parker.
The Raiders got it wrong because they are trying to
build a culture, and now their culture is gonna be
(11:36):
jacked up because all the other players are looking at
it and saying, my goodness, this dude jess emasculated the
general manager in front of everybody, letting me become an
all pro, letting me become something special on the field.
And I'm going off the same way. I'm doing whatever
(11:58):
the heck I want, and I know I'm gonna be
able to get away with it here in Oakland because
we got a milk toast leadership. Mike Mayock has been emasculated,
as you said, and John grew into a certain degree too,
because now he just looks like an emotional, wishy, washy
(12:20):
milk toast type leader. You gotta put your foot down.
There's a great article today by Mike Freeman, our good
friend and great reporter for Bleacher Report about what went
wrong with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin, Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown,
Levian Bell, the Killer Bees, not even a Super Bowl appearance,
(12:43):
let alone a Super Bowl title, and it all again
to go south when Big Ben got to do whatever
the heck he wanted, show up late for meetings, say
whatever you want about your teammates, do whatever you want,
be selfish. And Antonio Brown, who the Scouting Report will
him out of Central Michigan, actually use the word self
(13:05):
less to describe him. But he saw that Big Ben
could get away with murder, and then he decided, you
know what, if it's good for Ben, it's good for me,
and he began to do whatever the heck he wanted.
And I can't blame me because he saw it be
getting away with it. And now we see this and
(13:28):
it's gonna be the same thing in Oakland. Let Josh
Jacobs become something special and they will see some of
these players will follow in the footsteps of Antonio Brown.
So now your culture you're trying to create has been
ruined because you let this dude get away with all
this mess. And forget the argument with Mike mag That's
(13:51):
just one part of it. That's fifteen percent of it.
It's showing up with the frostbite on your feet and
we didn't know nothing about it. It's making this this
helmet issue a complete fiasco. It's showing up late for meetings.
It's being unfocused in meetings. It's looking at your iPad
and your bank account reportedly in meetings. Yeah, he's a
(14:16):
great individual player, and he'll put up great individual numbers,
But just like Mike Singletary, a man said, you can't win.
They're gonna win seven games instead of five. Whooped the due.
It's not worth it because your culture is ruined. Mayock
(14:36):
looks weak and Gruden looks weak, and Antonio looks real strong.
But that's not what I need. That's a mic drop.
Cannot coach with him, thank you. Let's see what the
callers think. Is Robb even still there? Did he run away?
(14:58):
I fell asleep, famar out, I'm all right. I'm A
seven seven ninety nine or five. I know Detroit gonna
be all up in the lines because I know that's
what you were doing. You were texting No, no, no,
I just pulled the Mike FRANCESSA so I would sleep
all that second. A seven seven ninety nine or Fox
eighty seven seven nine ninety six sixty three sixty nine.
(15:21):
Who you're with? Did the Raiders do the right thing?
Is Rob right? Or are you with me and the
Hall of Famer Mike Singletary a couple of Fox Sports Radio.
I want winners. I want people that want to win.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

All right, rob, Let's get to the callers eight seven
seven ninety nine on five. Hey, you know what, the
next time you're out off the show, we gotta get
Ben Mallow to fill in for you. I listened to
(16:29):
his commercial during the break, and let me tell you
that dude is so spot on. What did he say,
Rob g That Mike Mayock should be fired? Right, that's right.
He said, if it comes down to Mayok or Antonio Brown,
bye by the Mike Mayock here you got. I'm fine
with that. I'm not trying to protect Mike Mayok. I'm
just saying again to me, that's fifteen percent of this.
I just saw that. It's just good to hear a
(16:50):
guy who gets it on. That's all him. Get to
the car. Are you trying to stall? Get to the callers.
I'll agree with me or something. Him and Baker's feel
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's
up high me? Hey, what's going on? Fellas? Great show,
A great show. I love the music. Your DJ play
some Georgia Duke some phones anyway, I never let me
(17:13):
tell you. I agree with mister Broussard, mister Singletary, Mike Singletary.
Man recognized man he had, he had t O. So
he lived this through this and he wasn't gonna put
up with t O. The Raiders should not put up
with ab. Gonna get something out of him, don't pay
him his money, get rid of him to do something else. Hi, Hi,
(17:33):
he's on he's on his last leg. He ain't gonna
be in the NFL much longer. You're you're like a
lot of people who just can't relate to this. And
I'm not ripping on you. I'm just me. I'm just
I'm not ripping on you. But it's hard for fans
to recognize seriously like exceptional talent. So they don't understand.
They don't understand people. That's like a proSP No, they don't.
(17:54):
You don't understand I'm talking about. I'm talking about when
people know, when people he may have played the team sport,
you know he played the teams. But when you may
have the team dynamic, No, when you make exceptions for
people really exceptional, they don't. They don't go by New England.
They don't go by them. They don't go by the
normal rules New England. Yeah they do. They're Rob. Yeah,
nobody gets the star treats Josh Gornon getting high and
(18:18):
they still welcome him back. And he welcome back last year. Yeah,
but they welcome him back. So that starts for giving
somebody another chance. They diff they drafted Aaron Hernandez who
was to have tied to gangs, didn't they They can't
know what you saying. You have to be a star,
so I'm just saying it. But the Patriots did when
But the guy can't have an argument of calling. But
(18:41):
they're drafted a guy who wasn't involved in gas. Stop
stalling and getting I'm just trying to tell you. Mark
and Sacramento, you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Bring it, Mark that Mike drop you just talked about Rob.
I just picked this mic up. I'm gonna sure you
how to use this. Brother, I'm here. We have now
just brought a cancer into this locker room. Watch what happens.
(19:02):
But I'm gonna put it to you answers, and oh's
I watched Derek Carr throw the ball over behind it
at the Peter Romari Cooper for a couple of years.
They're gonna do the same thing to a Brown and
watch would happened when that happens, Bro, watch his reaction.
Just match, just lift the dynamite and now watch what
happens with Derek car the quarterback of the horse anyway,
(19:24):
missus Brown, Oh the time. I'm a fifty year old
of a fan. I watched it week after week, put
the quarterback and we talked about Brown being one of
the greatest of all times. Not with Derek Carr. You
will you watch what happens now, Rob, sit back and watch. Brother.
The show is about to begin, and the brother get
bed of this. Dude eventually got worked up. All let
(19:48):
me tell you know why the anger is here. Because
everybody thought he was gonna be released. That was the
story that was reported. Yes it is because you're all wrong.
Everybody with it. Everybody he was wrong and everybody thought
he's gonna get relief. Good, They're gonna take away Antonio
Brown my knee. Oh yeah, such a bad guy. Oh
(20:10):
my god, predicted that he had an arguments. He had
an argument with a GM. He's the worst guy in
the world. You keep you keep deflecting it. You know
a way. It's not about the argument. That's the last
thing it was about. Marty in Kentucky. You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Hey, y'all doing this Friday.
We're doing good, Marty. What's up with your voice? Man?
(20:30):
I'm worried about you. All right, comes in and how
It's just part of my job, you know. I gotta
take the bumps the job, unlike Antonio Brown, who just
wants to do whatever he wants and not be a
team player. I gotta get it. Props to Alex for
not giving Rob the mic drop. Now you see Alex Howe,
how they painted you to a corner nine call. I
(20:51):
don't know, man, I got two callers. Give me probs. Right,
we're talking about who looks weak here and who doesn't
look weak. Mike, in an interview with HISPN on January eighth,
stated that John Gruden has the final say on the team,
and that makes the instance John Gruden makes more money.
It may right now, John Gruden is truly the week
(21:12):
when he wants to play the middle and doesn't want
to stand up for team values. And I've never really
cared for him. Honestly. He's still making money off a
championship he won off a ton Tony Dudge's back, right.
That man built that defense in Tampa Bay and he
capitalized on it. And he's never proven anything. To me, Hey,
(21:35):
you you agree with that? Even Rob, I believe well,
I mean, he was right. I get that Gruden looks weak,
but but this is this wors No, this was his
his situation because this is the guy he decided to
hook up with. So he has to he has to
be able to deal with it and work through it.
(21:55):
And he just can't be one of throwing the towel.
I mean, that would be bad to him. And he
picked the two he picked a lesson. I mean, he
picked the person who could help him more. Mike May
I can't help him as much as Antonio Brown can
help him. Where I mean I my main thing, Rob
for this was to me, this was an opportunity to
get off from paying this guy thirty million dollars. Because
(22:19):
I'm convinced then maybe I'll be wrong. I'm convinced though.
There's gonna be many more things to happen like this,
you know, and whether it's yelling at may I forget,
just just distractions like this they have take away from
the team and the team dynamic and all that. And
this was an opportunity for you to get away, Scott Free.
(22:40):
Do you remember when Riley Cooper used the N word
when he was at the Eagles and got a contract
extension Like other people who are yelling today talking about, oh,
if you called your boss a name or argue with him,
they would lose your jo. I remember Ley say about that.
Should he have been on the team, what say? You
(23:02):
know what my take was, if I was one of
the players on the team, I wouldn't have practiced with
Riley Cooper. But but Michael Vicks walked. It's a bad guy.
There's been a bad guys in the league like that.
Holding that again when your locker room was eighty percent
black and you're throwing around the m world like it's okay,
I agree with you. I think you're you're you're playing
(23:23):
both eyes. I'm not playing both I think it's I'm
as consistent as a brand muffin. I know what I'm
doing here, all right? It's the I couple. Where am
I at? That little joke threw me off? All right?
Very Spears one of the funniest men in the country,
one of our good, good favorite comedians. He's about to

this week we are excited, thrilled actually to have our
next guest in for Celebrity Corner. He's the great comedian
and actor Ariy's spears. What's happening many christ Throb, what's
(26:22):
going on? Baby? It's great to have you. And remember
you came into the studio last year for an hour
with us, and man, you did some great impressions in personally,
I wish I could have made my rounds this ship. Yeah,
we'll get you in though. Oh you get in for
another Yeah, we'll definitely get you in in studio for
(26:44):
another hour. Just quickly, what you got going on, like
when you got some shows coming up and specials, or
what's going on with you? Did we lose him? We
lost him? He might have hit he might have hit
the you know you hit the phone. But yeah, I
was gonna say, if you remember the last time, remember
(27:04):
he sang the Golden Girls theme song with me wraps
one of my church. I'm gonna play that when I
go on the Golden Girls cruise just come in February.
That shouldn't be a big hit. Everybody will love that.
I'm gonna be the talk of the cruise. Yes, for
more reasons than one. What you say, I'm gonna be
the only black guy, the dude stopping dude, the only
(27:26):
guy under eighty. You gonna yeah, You're gonna be the
talk of the cruise. Wait till I take the pictures.
Wait till I take pictures of the cruise. Please, don't.
You won't believe, You won't believe. Who will be there?
All these young people? Did we really lose him? We
lost he? Did he? Did you guys sang Golden Girls?
Then he did did he do Biggie? Yeah? What are
(27:49):
he snoop? Yeah? He wrapped in the voices of those guys.
He sounded exactly like jay Z Shock. Did you do Shock?
I think so. Yeah, he's really good. Hopefully we can
get him back before the end of the segment. Yeah,
but um yeah it was uh, he's great, So we'll
(28:09):
we'll let's try to get him back. Rob gum but yeah, Rob,
I think we got back. Here we go. Aries, Yeah, yeah,
so I was saying, picking up where we left off
like it was nothing. Um yeah, man, I got some
shows this weekend in Ontario Improv, and three of my
five shows are sold out. So hopefully when people hear this,
(28:30):
they'll rush out to get tickets for the second show
tonight and then Sunday show, which is the only tickets available.
All right, yeah, all right, and they want to go
get tickets. Is there a website or where? Yeah? I
think it's just Ontario Improv dot com or Improv Ontario
dot com. It's one of those Okay, okay, So Aries,
(28:51):
what in the sports world? Obviously this is the first
weekend of NFL football, But did you watch the sports world?
What's got you excited? Right? Now I'm not a I'm
not a huge Laker fan, and I'm a semi Lebron
fan only because my man crushed no longer plays. Michael Jordan. Um,
(29:12):
so I'm curious to see what the Lakers do with
the addition of a D and now Dwight Howard, who's
got some making up to do in La. Oh yeah,
you want Dwight Howard after that m a mess he
was involved in when he was here. I mean, I'm
just surprised at Laker fans. It tells me that the
Lakers are desperate because they want Dwight Howard to be
a part of this. Listen, the Lakers want to be
(29:32):
relevant again, and and and quite honestly, now with Kdbing
gone and hurt, the Golden State Warriors clearly ain't gonna
be what they used to be. Houston ain't gonna be
what they used to be with the departure and Chris Paul.
So really, the tighten two teams, especially with Dwight Howard,
is gonna be Clippers versus LA because even though Dwight
Howard ain't what he used to be in Orlando, Dwight,
(29:55):
but with Lebron and Ad you only need him to
be seventy five percent. Yeah, I don't even know if
he's seventy five I was gonna say seventy five percent
off in the discount rock. I don't think d White's
gonna have anything to do with whether or not they
win it or lose it. I think they can win
it without him. I think they can win it without him,
(30:16):
and I think they could lose it with him. Like,
he could be good if he comes in to do
what you said, if he rebounds, if he protects the rim,
if he finishes at the rim, when you know Lebron
throws up at Alioup or something like that, that's great.
But I don't need him. If he comes in there
trying to get his seventeen and twelve, then that's gonna
be problematic because I don't know why. I don't think
(30:38):
that's his mind state. And plus like, look at the
end of the day, you know, with Lebron and Ad
out there, that's a two headed monster. But I think
without Dwight Howard they couldn't get past the Clippers. But
with him, he certainly becomes the X factor. And when
you got them three big bodies up there, you know,
going up against Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. I have
(31:00):
to take my scales to the Lakers. Now, really, you
don't like what the Clippers were able to do when
you consider that they made the playoffs the Lakers didn't.
They won two games on the road against a Golden
State with KD. You don't like what they did and
deferentially where they are. I definitely think without Dwight Howard
(31:22):
they're the ones to win the West. But with Dwight Howard,
AD and Lebron, I can't give it to them. Now, Wow,
you are a big Dwight Howard fan. No, not at all.
I don't like that. Do you know he could he
be out there hanging do you you nick get with him?
You know him? Not at all? Not at all. Now
do you kick it with many athletes? Not really, man,
(31:44):
because I stay busy and these cats don't pay my mortgage,
so I don't have the luxury just kicking it with them,
to be kicking it with them. But I will say this,
I will give Lebron this. And I've always said I'm
a Michael Jordan fanatic. I'm a groupie. Just like with
the bulls. I don't care what happens when you MJ
on the squad. You gotta put your bet on the
balls Lebron because it's Lebron. I gotta automatically tip my
(32:06):
hat towards Lebron and with and with a D and Dwight.
I just don't see anybody beating them. So last year
you lost since you put your money on Lebron because
they didn't even make the playoffs, right, Right, But I
wasn't necessarily rooting for them last year. But I didn't
really have I didn't really have any any you know,
a winner in that fight. Harris, I want to ask
(32:29):
you this. And Rob and I were talking about this
at the top of the show because Rob, you know,
he wants to do stand up at sometimes I still
want to do it, but I want to I don't
want to lose my job on television, so I gotta
figure it out. Yeah, Rob is always said, and he's
right that, you know, you get that comedic license to
kind of talk about whatever you want. And now with
(32:50):
Dave Chappelle's recently his last special on Netflix, I mean
he attacked, he winted everything and got a lot of pushback.
As you know, is a different climate now for comedians
and do you have to be more careful? Well, you know,
day should or has to take at money. So no
matter what kind of pushback he gets, at the end
(33:11):
of the day, he's financially straight, right, so he can
afford not to care. Uh. And I think a lot
of comedians who feel like they can't afford not to
care get scared and go against the comedic instincts. I'm
already behind the eight ball, so I ain't got nowhere
else to go butt up. So I'm real Floridian with
my comedy. I stay in my ground. Man, I'm never
gonna budge. It's the only thing about that is. I
(33:33):
just think nowadays people don't want to pay money and
be in salted like in a like they pushed back.
I've been to comedy clubs where people start saying some
some stuff and the people in the crowd will be like, nah,
we're not trying to hear that. Have you Have you
had that at all? No, Because the people that come
see me know they're getting straight unbelivion. They know what
(33:57):
it is. You know what I mean? They don't. And
if you don't know who I am, and you have
to familiarize yourself when you walk into that room. Uh,
that's on you, So harden to paint day. That's that's
good advice for you. Rob. Beat yourself all right. Chris
is trying to do that because he wants a solo
the odd ball. That's why, see Arias. What he's trying
(34:19):
to do is trying to set me up. So I
go out there. I might have a job, you know
what you want to do some sports talking about that.
Look at that and listen Rob, Rob, But you know,
there's always a very cool way to play it. You know,
you ain't gonna give up on your day job. But
at the same time, because your day job is your
day job and stand up is a night job, you
can go out there and go in the room with
(34:40):
not that many people to get your feet wet and
see how it feels. Yeah, I'm thinking about it. I
really want to do it before the end of the year.
I got a couple of things I got, Yeah, I
really want to do it. I think I'm gonna try
to set it up and just clean up a couple
of jokes that I have to me. Look, I see
here with Rob every days, there's only one thing he's missing.
(35:02):
He's not funny is that that's called listen. If Chris
is your true friend, Rob, and that's your family, what
better did who better did it come from? Man? I
gotta tell you the truth. Oh yeah, I guess you're
right on that. I'll accept that. You know, I support you. Man.
(35:22):
I'm gonna be right there in the front row. Now,
I'm gonna be important you, o, brother, Well go for it. Man,
you know the worst that could happen if you find
out it ain't for you. Right, I'm gonna ask you
as we as we had to the break you. Like
I said, you killed us with your impressions last time
you were here. Can you give us a rhyme or something? Uh,
(35:43):
you know, in the voice of a famous MC before
you you head out? Oh man, oh man, it's not
gonna put you on spot. But I'll tell you what.
Let me let me meet you halfway, because you know,
with the rhyme thing, I gotta be in the right
atmosphere with the right beat and the right chemicals. Um.
But you know, since we do have the basketball season
coming up, I'll gladly get into some shock for you.
(36:06):
All right, cool, So you know you set me up
a little bit. You do question out there. All right, Shock,
we just talked to Airy Spears, and I mean, look,
Eric Spears loves Dwight Howard. He thinks Dwight Howard is
gonna be the difference between the Lakers winning the championship
and or not this year. Shock, you've been hard on Dwhite.
(36:26):
What do you think you know? All we said he's
not a man like me when I played in the league,
because y'all know I dominate. As long as I get
twenty to twenty eight two, I'll dominate. You should get
twenty eight two and think less than twenty eight two.
You're not a real big man, So you gotta dominate
that bade. You gotta get that ball, and you gotta
dominate on his high. That is as good as it get.
(36:47):
That is great. That is great. All we need you
to do is everything is to be eating some Papa
John's and that would be perfect. There you go, baby
felling insurance at the same time, right right, all right,

a great kid, a great guy. Remember, Yeah, we went
out and I had lunch today and uh, Beverly Hills
and oh on Joe too. How'd you know? It was
(39:01):

just said he knows listen to the show and just

Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeart Radio app. It is the I couple. I am Rob,
I am Chris. He is Rob. I got you all
rattled after the first hour. You're rattled, he called himself. Rob,
(40:54):
I know you want to be like me, Parker. I
didn't go all the while. That was a brain freeze
or something. But anyway, you can follow both of us
on social media. I am at Chris underscore Bruce hard
on Twitter, Chris Bruce R sixty eight on Instagram. Rob
is at Rob Parker FS one on both Twitter and Instagram,
(41:15):
and Rob, let's get to that game last night. We
haven't talked about it yet. As I said earlier, Packers
ten Bears three in Chicago, So a good win for
the Packers. It could and I don't want to jump
the gun, Chris. It's only week one, but if that
division is as contested as we think it will be
with the Vikings and Right and the Packers, that's a
(41:40):
huge win. To get a win on the road like
that for green Bay, that was huge win. You're absolutely right,
huge one. We both picked the Packers help to win
the division, and you're right because now Chicago they may
have to go into green Bay and win to be
able to win the division. So it's a huge win.
But it also was really a great advertisement for as
(42:04):
much as we all destroyed the preseason games and all that,
and how everybody's talking about getting rid of the preseason
and all that, and nobody knows none of the starters
hardly played. That was like an advertisement for the importance
of preseason. I mean, because they looked rusty, like they
(42:25):
hadn't played. They looked horrible, right, both both quarterbacks and
both teams. It's offenses, and Green Bay was able to
get the only touchdown of the game, and then they
had the big job to get that final field goal.
But other than that, there was not much going on.
I told and you're talking about one of the best quarterbacks,
not only in the league but ever, and he looked rusty.
(42:47):
Everybody's talking about how bad Rubisky looked, and he looked bad,
don't get me wrong, but Rogers looked only slightly better.
He like you said, he had that one drive where
he looked great in that one compared to forty what
forty havn yard or whatever. That was the game and
then the touchdown pass a few minutes later. But uh,
they they looked bad. They had twenty penalties combined and
(43:11):
ten sacks, and defense is going to be way ahead
of the offense at this point in the season because
defense is more instinctive and reactive, whereas offense, you really
is about timing, chemistry and being comfortable in your system
and with your new teammates and Aaron Rodgers. I mean,
we all know this is a new system with Matt Lafleur,
(43:34):
so maybe you could have predicted that it was going
to be looked bad and miss bisky second year in
the system. He just he doesn't have that excuse. He
really looked poor. The Packers offense. For all that we've
heard about Lafleur being you know, Sean McVeigh the second
and all that, they their offense looked a lot like
(43:55):
it did last year. Totally. That was the problem. I
didn't see any wrinkles, and I know, you gotta tell me,
I watched the game. I didn't see the wrinkles. I
didn't see some innovative, new, young hot shot coach who
made me look at Aaron Rodgers differently. They started off
the game with a run play. It was just like,
this is what Mike mccarthury used to do, you know,
(44:16):
I just I really did not see anything different. And
I'm not saying I'm a football coach or anything, but
I didn't. Somebody would have to point out what was different,
because I was different was the Packers defense, and that
was really I mean, obviously, you're happy anytime you get
a win, especially on the road against the division rival,
(44:37):
but that was really the bright spot last night, even
for Aaron Rodgers. He even said it. Did you see
the post game in height He was like, hey, he
was like, we got a defense. Yeah, that's exactly what
we got a defense. And you know what, I'm not
mad at him. I know it's Week one and maybe
Mitch Trubisky and the offense was rush. Okay, it's hard
(44:59):
to tell at this point exactly, but if you're Green Bay,
you go to Chicago and you only give up a
field goal, which was in the first quarter, right, yeah,
that's all you gave up in the game, that is amazing.
And then they did have the big interception at the
end of the game to seal it. That's what defenses do, Chris.
(45:20):
They get takeaways, they make plays at the end of
the game. That's what won that game for them. Right now,
You're right, the Bears were driving and anytime you're the
Packers and you you can say we won a game
with Aaron Rodgers struggling, playing what may end up being
his worst game of the year, and you you only
(45:43):
scored ten points and you won. If you're the Packers, man,
that's you. You'll take that because you believe that. You
believe that as as La Flour gets his feet under him,
Chris and Aaron Rodgers, who didn't take a snap in
pretason gets his legs under him, that it will get better,
the offensive get better. So that's the way you have
(46:05):
to look at it. That somehow they went on the road,
Aaron Rodgers only muster ten points and you got a
w inside your division. Yep. Well, and here's the thing,
rob Last year, they held one team to fewer than
three points last year, and that was the Buffalo Bills,
who were horrible. They beat them twenty two. Oh. Other
(46:27):
than that, every other opponent scored in double figures against
Green Bay. So that right there shows you. I mean,
they made a lot of you know, nice free agent acquis.
They spend money on the DA to Smith guys, Presidon
Smiths and Darius Smith, the Amos kid with the interception,
and you know that's something the old regime was really
hesitant to do, was go out and spend money on
(46:48):
free agents. So yeah, that's a bright spot for Green Bay.
As you said, you gotta believe in Aaron Rodgers. Now,
I will say this, and I'll give him the excuse
of that it was Week one one and you know
they they it was a new offensive system. He didn't
play in the preseason, So all those I think are legitimate.
That's not making it right. Those those are legit, right,
(47:09):
But you know, Rob, he's coming off a year it
was better than most. He's Aaron Rodgers, but it wasn't
a typical Aaron Rodgers season. Right, most people would take
twenty five touchdowns and two picks. But you know his
numbers overall, Tom Brady's were better, and I'm not even
trying to be funny, but they were slightly better, and
(47:32):
they were his last forty nine games before last night,
he was twenty four twenty four and one, So that's
basically three and a half seasons, and so Aaron's got
to be better. Can we say there's no excuse? Now?
Like if the defense, maybe it's not the Bears defense,
maybe it's not, it might be that it's good. It
(47:55):
looks like it's gonna be pretty good. And now it's
just Aaron going out there and getting it done. And
I think he can, but I'm just saying like he's
got to be better. That did not look like Aaron
Rodgers at all. Yeah, I will give him a pass
only from the standpoint of the stuff you just mentioned.
I just think the Bears are a good defense. That's
number one. So you aren't gonna you aren't gonna light
(48:17):
them up. You were putting forty on them, So I
get that. And they got to him, I mean they
sacked him a number. Yeah, they got They got to him.
So whenever they and the first two or three drives,
I mean they what they have negative and negative twelve
yards in the first quarter. Yeah, I mean they didn't.
They couldn't do anything. And then he was able to
have a couple of drives that were big. So yeah,
(48:38):
I think it's a starting point. I think you'll look
at week um, you know, two and three and see
where they are. And they have Now this is the
thing that they pointed out last night on on the broadcast.
After that first game in Chicago, Chris five of their
next six or at Lambau. So they got they got
a golden opportunity, you know what I mean, load up
(49:02):
and and maybe win five out of six and then
or or you know, no, you're absolutely right they could this.
This is big for them. I mean, we talked about
how tough that UH division is going to be, and
this is an opportunity for them to get a little
bit of breathing room. Now, they got Minnesota next week.
You know, they get the long rest, right, But they
(49:24):
got Minnesota at home, then Denver at home. Denver is
a game you should win. You got Philadelphia at home,
and then you're at Dallas. So they're not easy, no, no, no,
but but but you're home, right, Yeah, most of them
are at home. It's interesting because okay, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Dallas.
That's three of their next four. They could lose three
of their next four, sure, you know, and they win
(49:46):
the next four, they should wrote route them right, and
then Oakland. Who knows what Oakland will be looking at
it like at that point, right, they need It's a
tough stretch, but it's even better for them because it
is home right, right, So do you get if what
about Trubisky? I gotta be honest, and I picked the
Bears to make the playoffs. I'm concerned. I know it's
(50:08):
Week one and we can give him some of these,
but he also did he take a snap? I don't
think heap thereseason either. We can give him some of
the same excuses we gave Rogers. However, Rogers has earned
the benefit of the doubt. Trubisky has not. He was
you know, he's fine. Last year he had a third
best QBR in the league. But there's the other thing.
(50:28):
But I'm not sold. I wonder if that offense is
good enough for them to really be legitimate contenders, especially
Chris here's the big part. Last year they got thirty
six takeaways. Are you gonna get thirty six takeaways this year?
Do you know what I mean? Like? Yeah, yeah, And
(50:49):
when you get those takeaways, what happens that sets you
up and short of feels good exactly, And that makes
it a lot easier for Mitch Trubisky to do what
he does. Now, when you're not getting all those and
you have to go eighty yards or seventy five yards,
it ain't the same. Well, there was a quote from
(51:10):
one of the Packers linebackers. I'm sorry defensive backs right
and head. It was such. It was a telling quote.
He actually said what we wanted to do. I don't
have it right, you got it all right, let's hear it.
We wanted to make Mitch play quarterback. We knew they
had a lot of weapons, we knew they were dangerous,
we knew we knew all of those things. But we
(51:33):
knew if we can make him Mitch play quarterback that
we'll have a chance. Who was that, Rob, that's Traymont Williams.
I mean, my goodness, Rob, And you talk about an insult, right,
We wanted to make him play quarterback, like that's what
you played? Well, but I know, but they wanted him
to throw the ball. I have to throw the ball.
(51:54):
But you don't you admit that is that's an insult.
Well I know that. And looking at Twitter last night
after the game, there were plenty of Bears fans who
are like Luke Warmer on him the beginning, to begin
with Chris who all of a sudden yesterday were like, oh,
here we go, he's not going to be the guy's
(52:14):
not good enough. Because that was a game and if
you looked at both of us picked Green Bay, if
you go back and look at all the pregame shows
and all that other stuff on ESPN and NFL Network
and NBC. Ninety percent of the people picked, uh, the
Bears to win it. Really? Yes, I know, our colleague
(52:34):
Chris Carter picked the Bears to reach the Super Bowl. Wow,
I would her. First things first, this morning, I'm a
little worried about them. I mean to be honest, like,
like I said, are they good enough offensively to even
contend for a Super Bowl? I don't know. I think
(52:55):
we're not saying it. But here's the thing too, is
we started off talking about this was an advertisement for
the importance of preseason. I don't want rob a month.
I don't want the first month of the regular season
to be preseason, right, you know what I mean, Like,
let's see what happened Sunday. Is our seventy five percent
of the teams going to look like this? Because if
(53:19):
that's the case, then I mean, I already after just
last night, I'm like, you know what, they need to
play a couple of preseason games at least. Yeah, but
but not everybody like didn't did not take snaps or whatnot.
So there's the guys who should be a little further
along right well, in the Murray playing in their starters
last year, and they obviously made the Super Bowl exactly,
(53:41):
so that worried worked for them. I was gonna say,
Kyler Murray got plenty of action as a rookie writers
playing action, but he's playing against the Lions. That's a
game that I'm I'm pickings in that game. Yeah, I
bet that game. I bet three games this week, and
I'm worried about you bet now, man, I don't know.
This is the first time. You know, I never bet,
(54:03):
You know, I never bet money. And you never used
to buy a pair of Jordan's every two weeks either.
I haven't had one now, and I'm just rolling in
the doll stop it no exactly. You are rolling like
you come now, La, and you're just turning it out, man.
I mean, my goodness, Betty, who what's next? You're you're
making it rain at the houses of irrepute? Yes, you're
(54:26):
Betty now, and you're getting a pair of Jordan's or
Gucci's every two weeks, not every two weeks, next week,
every three weeks next to you know, maybe I'll get
married to a twenty two year old How about that? You. You,
I know you don't look at anything over thirty two?
Would you stop? You don't attractive fifty somethings. I want
(54:49):
to give you a little play. And you you you
ain't even know, you know, I'm right right, I'm putting
a little too much out there. Huh's all right? And
my cheese was hot. Cheese was hot back in the forties,
all right? Were you shocked with what you saw last
night between the Bears and the Packers? Has Aaron Rodgers
(55:11):
slipped a little bit? And can the Bears win a
Super Bowl with Mitch Trubisky. It's your time to weigh
in on any of those topics with The Eye Couple.
Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar then Rob Parker week
days at seven pm Eastern, four pm Pacific. It's The

Eye Couple, Christ and Rob. We brought to you by Truecar.
Car shopping, as you know, can be confusing. They're gonna
hit you with urns like dealer, price, list, price, and invoice.
You just hit them with true car and you say, well,
true Car has showed me what other people pay for
this exact same car, so that way, I know what's
a good price and what's a bad price. So when
(55:52):
you're ready to buy a new or even a used car,
make sure you visit Truecar to enjoy a more confident
car buying experience. All right, Rob, let's throw it out
to the callers eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
You can weigh in on last night's game. And Rob
and I both thought it was an advertisement for the
(56:13):
importance of preseason. Forget everything we said that preseason because
they looked rusty both offenses, and the defenses showed up
and they made plays. But yeah, it wasn't I don't
know what the ratings were if people stuck around because
the game was still close? Was it an all time
for an opener? You know? It was up from last year?
(56:34):
Was well, last year's opening action was actually a pretty
That was a great game. That was the game where
he was hurt. He game back right right? All right,
let's get his kicked off with the Trucker Don and Boston.
You're on the odd couple, Fox Sports Radio. What's up?
Trucker Don, Chris, Rob Trucker Rob real quickly. When I
(56:55):
was a kid and we would take family road trips
every time we see a truck, you know, I do
the signal and when they would honk, it would just
make my day. So you just made that day too. Kids,
do that? That's all right? You know I've been listening
to you guys since day one. I love your show, right, yes,
(57:16):
thank you. We appreciate you. Don you know that you
know a butt rob? We we appreciate you up in
Boston and I think you ought to start your comedy
career there by the way. Oh up in Boston, are
you gonna protect me? Don? Are you gonna protect me? Oh? No, no, no,
need you start talking about the Patriots and Brady. We
laughed so hard up there. I got you that. I
(57:45):
was appreciate that man. Thanks, don appreciate you. How about
Jerry in Nashville. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up Jerry? What's up? The us? Say?
Y'all are my two favorite people besides Chris Corner and
Nick Ray. I listened to you guys every night. Every
(58:07):
night on the way home, I listened to you two
argue about self and it makes my day that right now?
That's awesome? Hey, so um so hey, two things I
believe I last year when the Rams played Open in
the first game of the season. My Rams looked real
rusted because I hadn't played anybody. They slipped the switch
(58:28):
on the second half, but I was playing against the
Open Raiders, which is not a very good team. I
don't know. I think that the preseason does give you
some legitimacy to say that some of these players do
need to get out there and get their feet wet
a little bit more so they can be a little
bit more Chris when they come out there on Sunday.
So I'm thinking that whatever team is really Chris on Sunday,
(58:49):
that's the team that's going to prople win the majority
of the games. So because I watched that game last night,
that was a hot mess. And Jarry, you know what,
you're right, because I just think, you know, practice is
not like a game, Chris, right, you know that's just
what you No matter what, practice is not a game.
And we've seen it all the time, guys. Practice is
(59:09):
saying until he gets out there in a game situation,
it's totally different. Yeah, it could even be something as
simple as nerves, right, because it because it matters, you
know what I mean, it does. It's totally different. All right,
what about Matt in Minneapolis? Join the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up Matt? Hey, guys, how's it
going doing great? Great? Man? I watched all of last
(59:30):
night's game and I loved it. I went into the
game not realizing how easy it was going to be
for the Vikings to win that I'll look at you, wow,
like a cake clock. Now I thought the Bears were
only competition from mitche has been exposed. It's the Vikings
yet is gonna get the monkey off his back? And
regarding the championship, that monkey and I like Kirk, but
(59:53):
that monkey is growing by the year. And you know, Matt,
he hasn't won any big game. Do you like that?
You like that? Hey, it's happening this year he got
all the I'm not saying he's an elite quarterback, but
he has too much around him not to win. And
he does have talent, he just hasn't. The only the
one knock on Kirk Cousins, and this is a big one,
(01:00:15):
is that he just hasn't been able to win the
big games as Robs and not even just we're not
talking about big playoff games, right, We're talking about like
against good teams in the regular season, no doubt about
his record four and he's got a team, he's got
one of those match staff for two like teams that
finish them. What do you like that? No, we don't
(01:00:36):
like it. We want you to win some big games.
How about Chris and Missouri. You're in the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Chris? Hey, good evening, fellas,
Welcome to Friday Night. Yes, my man, all right, Hey,
so everybody knows Trubisky's not a franchise quarterback. They're just
stuck with them currently. But what surprises me or the
(01:00:57):
amount of people that praise the Bears deep and without
acknowledging just how subpar Aaron Rodgers really is is he
was saying he is he has been for years. He's
literally just he's the epitome of a Green Bay quarterback
where they win one Super Bowl and people think they're great. Chris,
(01:01:21):
you know what I mean? Do you know many teams
in the NFL would love to win one Super Bowl?
Come on, man, let's not let's not poo poo winning
a super Bowl as if as the Detroit Lions. You
want me go through all the teams. Do you remember
Chris you grew up and with an ain't fan until
they finally won one. Well, I'm gonna give him. I
think he went a little too far. I give him a,
you know, an a for a strong take. I'm saying
(01:01:44):
Aaron Rodgers was mediocre last night. He's saying he is
just mediocre. That that's interesting. Twenty five and two, he
said a record last year the most completion Yeah, but
I'm not saying but I'm not as you can't but
you can't go and says mediocre when he just set
a record of the most completions in a row. They
(01:02:05):
were six nine and one. Yeah, but a lot of
that just wasn't a short menu. Rob somebody I've heard
somebody I don't. I can't remember who you stopped taking.
He says, short menu. There is a short menu in
sports wins and losses. Thank you. They were six nine
and one. Speaking of Aaron Rodgers, we got one of
his former Packers coaches joining us next, the outspoken Winston Moss.
(01:02:30):
He will join us in a few moments, but first
let's get to Steve to Sager for the latest in sports.
Steve Oakland, wide receiver Antonio Brown practice today and should
play Monday night. They no team suspension for Brown's tyrde
against the GM. The Chiefs gave wide receiver Tyreek Hill
a three year extension worth over thirty five mill guaranteed
he avoided suspension from the league this past summer. Minnesota
(01:02:52):
wide receiver Stefan Diggs is questionable hamstring injury questionable for
the weekend. Wide receiver of the Bucks, Mike Evans, miss
practice today due to illness. The Louisiana Supreme Court throughout
a fans lawsuit against the NFL over that Saints Rams
NFC title game. AutoZone knows there are all different kinds
of jobs out there. If you've got a today job,
select free same day store pickup. If you'd rather take
(01:03:13):
care of the job tomorrow, you can order as late
as ten pm with free next day delivery on AutoZone
dot com. Get in the Zone AutoZone. Four college football
games tonight, Wake Forest leads fourteen nothing at Rice, late
first quarter. At Virginia, it's the Cavaliers fourteen nothing over
William and Mary late first quarter. At the top of
the hour. Number twenty four. Boise State will be hosting
Marshall and it's over one hundred degrees at Arizona State
(01:03:35):
for the Sun Devils against Sacramento State tonight. Number two
Rafael Nadal is in a first set tiebreaker at his
semifinal at the US Open. Daniel Medvedev won his semi earlier.
USA Basketball plays Grease tomorrow morning at our time, and
then Brazil on Monday at the World Cup in China.
US men soccer is on FS one right now from
New Jersey, about to start an exhibition against Mexico. To
(01:03:58):
the Major League Baseball scoreboard for this Friday night, completing
a susplendid game, It's the A's up five to three
bottom of the eighth against Detroit Cardinals, lead two one
at Pittsburgh in the bottom of the fourth inning. Mets
shutting out the Phillies to nothing. In the bottom of
the fourth. Bryce Harper of the Phills has left after
he was hit by a pitch on his right hand.
Yankees at Red Sox scoreless in the bottom of the fourth.
(01:04:19):
Rays could be a playoff team this year. Up for
nothing on Toronto in the top of the fifth inning.
Arizona has been hot, but at Cincinnati Reds lead the
diamondbacks to one in the bottom of the fourth and
the Braves who've won seven in a row or up
one nothing on the National's top of the fourth odd
couple back in ten seconds. But first, a word from Farmers.
Farmers Insurance knows the difference between a car hitting your
bumper and a clown car hitting your puppet. That because
(01:04:43):
at Farmers we've seen end covered it. We are Farmers underwritten.
My Farmers took fire insurance exchanges and affiliates products unavailable
every state. Indians at twins scoreless. Top of the second
odd couple back to you, Thank you, Steve. It is
the eye couple of Chris and Rod. We're coming you
live from the Geico Fox Sports Radios studios. It's easy
to say fifteen percent or more in your corn insurance
(01:05:03):
with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or call eight
hundred nine four seven Auto. The only hard party is
figuring out which way is easier. Our next guest, we
had him more last year. He was a great guest.
He's a former Green Bay Packers assistant coach. He caused this,
Joe didn't he last year? Just left him last year.
Now he's the head coach and the general manager of
(01:05:25):
the XFL's Los Angeles Wildcatt. Maybe he can hire Mike
Mayock when he's available. Look at you, he already started stuff.
Let's bring him in, Winston Moss, Winston, welcome to the show. Hey,
welcome guys. But hey, hey, so so we we gotta
go through this whole process all over again. But my title.
(01:05:47):
The last time I was on, I heard through the
leading to me, you said that I was the outspoken
coach Moss. I was messing, are missing with you? Why
can I not be articulate? Sir? Winston mars the brilliant
(01:06:07):
or great coach? Mark outspoken? That sounds like an outball,
That sounds like a come on, come on and brave. Hey,
hey Winston, real quick. I want to ask, hey, guys,
(01:06:32):
I want to just jump in you being a head
coach and general manager of the LA's XFL team. The
Antonio Brown situation, are you surprised at all? Chris and
I went back and forth on this yesterday, and I
told Chris that the talent will always uh superseded an
executive or somebody. But are you surprised that they gave
(01:06:54):
him no suspension and he's playing on Monday. Listen, I'm
not touching that with a twenty foot poll. Y'all, you
guys deal with that. Um, I don't want to get
into that. That's the Raiders and Antonio Brown situation, and
I'm staying away from that. I will have my own
players that I'm gonna have to deal with in a
(01:07:16):
couple months, and so I'm preparing from an evaluation standpoint
to pick my players, and so I would prefer you
guys to lay off of that, that Antonio Brown situation.
All right, thanks for having us, all right, thank you,
see you later. No, I'm just kidding. Let me ask
(01:07:36):
you this, No, no, no, I I'm want to ask
you your former squad, of course, played last night. Did
you watch the game, and if so, what do you think? Yes,
I did, I watched. I watched the game, and I
thought both offenses were poor. I thought both defenses played
(01:07:58):
well and and I would hope that I'm sure that
and some of that has to contribute to If you
guys all know, Aaron Rodgers did not play during the preseason,
Trabisky did not played during the preseason, and so that
(01:08:20):
contributed to some of the ineffectiveness of both offenses and
so only time will tell if that is a long
term situation or just a one game fluke, because you're
not going to shut down Aaron Rodgers Toomart not too
(01:08:40):
many more times the rest of this year period. Same
thing with Turbisky. Those guys are way too good, way
too smart coaching staff to let those guys continue to struggle.
So I would expect those guys to rebound starting next week.
Now it's going to be a little bit tougher for Aaron.
(01:09:01):
He's going up against a Minnesota Vikings defense that's just
as tough, and so I don't know who Chicago is playing.
But with that being said, they really have to really
get their their their rhythm going to be order in
order to be very um functional moving forward. Uh what
(01:09:27):
about the Packers we talked about, Um, Aaron Rodgers said
it after the game about we got a defense. Did
you look at it that way when you see Green
Bay hold Chicago to three points at you know on
the road, if you're Aaron Rodgers, you gotta be somewhat
because it's not like it's the same defense from a
year ago. They went out, they signed free agents, they
(01:09:49):
spent money, they drafted, they built this defense up and
it looked like it paid dividends right away. Well, I
thought the defense played well, but I thought Mete Bisky
out of the Chicago Bears offense and never truly threatened them.
How many deep balls were throwing them? How many plaques
(01:10:11):
and passes were you had max protection where the ball
was thrown down the field from mister Trubisky, I think
m Cohen, if I'm not correct, had the most targets.
Another receiver in the short intermediate venge had the next
set of targets, And so the game plan was simply
(01:10:33):
for Trubisky in my opinion, to manage the game, let
the defense take over, special teams, make a special play,
and put them in position to win the game. But
that's my assessment. You what, did a lot of people
have made a big deal out of what Matt Lafleur
(01:10:53):
is gonna bring As far as the new offensive system,
Rob and I said, it looked like a lot like
what we saw last year from the Packers. Did you
see different sets and formations and anything that was different
or was he a lot of the same stuff? In
your opinion as well, I think that the NFL is
(01:11:23):
I'll put it through this way, I didn't see anything
really particularly different from the Green Bay offers that I've
seen in the past. I'll put it through that way.
Same same same thing with the Chicago Bears, right right, You,
of course, are getting ready for your season with the
(01:11:43):
XFL starts in February. This upcoming February, and you know
the NFL long time coach, you had a long career
as a player as well. Really, honestly, we don't expect
it to be up to the NFL level, But how
close will it be to what we see in NFL
(01:12:04):
XFL football quality? Well, I can put it to you
this way. We're gonna take the best available players, which
is going to consist of guys that are are just
need some more seasonings for the NFL. We're gonna take
some guys off the student We're gonna take some guys
(01:12:25):
that deserve a tryout, and we're gonna work with those guys,
and we're gonna make those guys work, and they're gonna
they're gonna play. Hard to see, if you look at
the AAF, they didn't have any issues with players because
players want to give everything they had because they want
to get back into the league. You can relate it
to our situation. The XFL is going to get players
(01:12:48):
that are so hungry to prove themselves that they're going
to give all out effort in practice and they're gonna
give all out efforts in the game. Now it's gonna
be you know, we know it was advertisers kind of
old school football like hitting. You know, the hitting is
(01:13:09):
gonna be a little more like like yesteryear versus the
rules you have in the NFL today. Merrill Hide, who
you remember as a player, He has come out, he's
written a book about how all the panic over CTE
is overblown. Do you tend to feel that way as well?
(01:13:30):
And is that kind of how a lot of people
with the XFL feel. No, I don't think it's overblown.
I mean studies have shown what CTS has caused over time,
and so the XFL has done an excellent job of
addressing that. We've changed our special team rules up to
where we're going to eliminate those those collisions that are
(01:13:54):
contributing to a lot of those concussions and head injuries.
So we're modifying the game to alleviate some of the
potential illnesses or damage that can be done to a
player playing football. We're going about it the right way. Hey,
(01:14:15):
one last thing, thirty seconds, Like, obviously the XFL failed
the first time around. What's going to be different here?
Why is this going to succeed this time? Best McMahon
and all the luck has taken a great approach. They're
building it from the ground up. We're going to be
more fan engagement. We're acting asking more from the fans.
(01:14:37):
This is going to be a community involved project. This
is not going to be a shove it down your throat.
Here's what we are, Here's what we're gonna do, and
you take it or leave it. We're we're going about
it in a in a very very commune, communal way.
And I like it. I love it. And in the
(01:14:58):
last thing I'll leave you with is that the Bence
and Oliver has hired great people. We have great people
in the XFL office. He's hired great head coaches in gyms,
the head coaches in gyms, has hired excellent assistant coaches
along with their support staff. And so I am I
(01:15:21):
am fully confident that we're gonna be able to produce
a great product start next year. All right, Thank you, Winston.
We Appreciate it, man, and good luck this year. Maybe
we'll get you on before the season starts again so
you can break down some more NFL for us. But
you're the head coaching GM of the XFL's Los Angeles Wildcast,
(01:15:41):
so thanks a lot, and maybe you can hook me
and Cress up with a section this year at the game. No,
I'm not gonna hook you for the second'na put you
guys in the bathroom and give you a tablet to
let you watch it in the damn bathroom. See, that's
what we meet. That's why we called you kill me
every time. That's why we called you outs focus, right,
(01:16:02):
We appreciate you. What's the good luck? Thank you? Yeah?
Ain't no, no, no, Listen, anything you guys need, I'll
be more than happy to help out with you, because,
like I said, this thing is all about community, This
thing is all about love, This thing is all about
keeping this thing together. And we need each other and
so anything I can do to help you guys, give
(01:16:24):
me holler all right, ma, man, thanks a lot, appreciate it. Yep.
Lebron James is ready to change the sports world as
we know it. We'll explain next as the eye Couple
of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar and Rob Parker
weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox
(01:16:45):
Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. It's The I Couple.
Chris Bassar, Rob Parker. What brought to you by Little
Caesars where you can get a large quatro pizza that
has four sections of classic Italian flavors for just seven dollars.
That's right, four sections of classic Italian flavors seven dollars
(01:17:06):
and only at participating Little Caesar's locations plus tax. We're
applicable quickly. Rob Lebron James is continuing to get involved
in things that he is interested in away from the
sport of basketball, so he just tweeted out recently, everyone
in California call your politicians and tell them to support
(01:17:31):
s B two h six exclamation point. This law is
a game changer. All Caps college athletes can responsibly get
paid for what they do and the billions they create
California can change the game. This is only right, way
overdue hashtag more than an athlete now, Rob bill. SB
(01:17:51):
two oh six is called the fair Pay to Play Act. Basically,
it would allow college athletes in the state of California,
or you know, at schools in the state of California,
to get paid for their likeness and their image, so
they can make money off their image and likeness. They
wouldn't get paid, you know, to play the sport, but
(01:18:13):
they can make money off their imaging and likeness. So
of course the NC DOUBLEA is against it, but I
like it, Rob. I think this is a great step
if it gets past, and hopefully it does, because obviously
they're going to have to make it national if you
do that to the states, the schools in California, well yeah,
(01:18:36):
And the other thing too is the bottom line still
is that the college players will never get what they
rightfully deserve until the unionize, until there's one body that
represents them as a whole. When you try to do
it individually and try to do stuff like that, it's
way hard. Remember they tried that, no, I know, a
(01:18:56):
couple of years, but they The problem is everybody's so
concerned with themselves. Oh, this is my four years. I'm
not going to give up. This is what it's anything
with the programs, yes, that's exactly what it is. Until
you understand that someone has to make a stand in
order to get what's right. I don't have there's no way. Well,
(01:19:19):
remember the college football game, Chris, that they were using
the players numbers and the teams, but they weren't paying
the kids at all. You remember that they rather than
give the kids any money or anything, they closed the
thing down, the college football video game. Now, Mark Emmert,
the NCAA president, he is saying that if California schools
(01:19:40):
if this passes, He's saying, California schools will be barred
from participating in the nc Double A Championships. So this
could get If this law passes, this could really get interesting.
I'm excited to see what happens with it. I do
think this would be great for the students. I Coupled

(01:20:25):
At the bottom of the hour, we've got Lamar Mitchell.
He's the MGM Grand Race and sports Book Director. So
all of you, I'm sure plenty of you are playing
bets on the games this weekend, so you definitely want
to check out this interview with Lamar Mitchell because you
will certainly get some tips that can help you in
(01:20:45):
your choices. And we of course are bringing back the
Pigs Can Pick Off and Rob and I will make
our picks for five games this weekend and including Monday
Night for you know, for our Pigs Can Pick Off
and I'll try to defend my title last year. We'll
(01:21:06):
see it. Stop saying any game that I'm picking. So
a Monday Night AB's playing the three touchdowns Raiders win.
I'm glad you brought up AB because that obviously is
the big story of the day. AB not suspended at
all by the Oakland Raiders. He will play in Monday's game.
(01:21:29):
What is it Monday night? They played Denver? Right, Yeah,
Monday Night game A B will be playing and Rob
and I differ on this. I think that the Raiders
made the wrong decision. I think they should try to
wash their hands of ab and they had a chance
to get out of that thirty million dollars they guaranteed
him and now it's gone. They could have suspended him
(01:21:51):
and released him and just started anew But Rob thinks
they did the right thing. He is a great player.
I'll give him that for sure. I'm not taking anything
away from his ability. I just don't think it's worth
the headache. And I think, hey, having to pay him
thirty if they didn't help him. Honestly, Rob, if it
wasn't about that type of money, then I would be
(01:22:12):
like you, hey, let's give him a chance to get
out there and see see what he does. But that
that's a lot of money, and I think it'd be
a great opportunity to get away from that. I just
think that they're they're in the business there. They're trying
to build up their product. They had a really bad
year last year. They're moving forward. They're moving to all
Las Vegas. Who won't be long and I think you
just want to have good players and try to build something.
(01:22:34):
He might not be for the long haul, but if
they can make them better and more viable, I think
that that's where John Guden wants to be that's why
he's getting a second chance, Chris. It's not because they
like him, is that he's talented. And I know it's
not right. We always talk about this. Life is not fair,
and when you're really talented, people bend over backwards to
(01:22:57):
get your talent out there. If you're an actress or
actor or singer or radio host or whatever it may be,
and you got a substance abuse problem, or you got
you know, and what you can perform and you can
get the job done, or you're a drunk or you're
you know, got all kinds of other issues. If you're
(01:23:18):
not talented, they won't tolerated. But if you're talented, they
will almost turn it back on almost anything. And that's
what that's why ab got the past, because he's that talented.
It ain't about anything else. Now, you're right, But I
just think and obviously, I mean those things you mentioned
(01:23:38):
off the field, those are more serious in real life.
There's no doubt. I mean, somebody that's involved with domestic violence,
somebody that's you know, involved with drug use or something
like that, that's far worse. Now, Antonio has had some
off the field issues too. You know, he threw the
furniture over the balcony. Guy, he's lucky that he didn't
(01:24:00):
hit anybody with that. He was I think he was.
There was a truck downstairs. I think he was trying
to pack the truck right, but they were reports were
that he missed. There was a child in the vicinity.
But I I so, I'm agreed, like those are far
worse than what what ab you know is accused of
(01:24:20):
doing with the Raiders. My point is just that from
a football perspective like that, I'm concerned with my team.
I can't control guys have different things they do off
the field away from the facility, but I think a
b that's affecting the bottom line, which is my wins,
(01:24:40):
my losses, my culture, things like that. So that's where
I think it's different. I'm not saying again it's worse
to do something egreed just off the field, but it
just seems like a specific thing you know, on the field,
right that that we've seen guys do some stuff, bad
stuff and they get second chances, and you're right, and
(01:25:00):
this is the thing. Let's put him out there and
I think this is where John Gruten and see if
he can still play right, See if you see if
he can contribute and if he helps us, fine, as
soon as he can't play Chris, they will get rid
of him. I mean, and that's really when it comes
down to me. But there'll be fourteen million dollars lighter
in the post. Yeah, but that's why they signed him.
(01:25:22):
I mean, if they were thinking about the money, you
could have thought about that ahead of time and not
giving him that deal. If it was really about the money.
It was not because because otherwise you would have never
entered into that. If I would have say to you beforehand,
there's a chance you're gonna have a problem with with
a B, you would know, yes, there's a chance of
a big problem if I guarantee him thirty million. That's
(01:25:44):
even before you bring him in, right, you know there's
a chance. But did you foresee feet gate? Helmet gate?
I mean, this dude, it was just like he was
almost looking for stuff to make an issue out of him.
But anyway, I'm a segue because there was a great
story Rob in Bleacher Report. But I got to our
(01:26:07):
friend and former colleague, Mike Freeman. We had him more
on what last week, But it was all about how
you know this Steelers team that had Antonio Brown, that
had Levian Bell, that had Big Ben Roethlisberger. Two definite
Hall of famers in Ben in Antonio and I think
Antonio is a definite Hall of Famer, and maybe another
(01:26:28):
one in l Bell. You know, he could be himself.
And they forget winning a Super Bowl. They don't even
have a Super Bowl appearance to their name. And this
article by Freeman delved into why, and what he uncovered
was that it's related to what we're talking about. What
a b that the he says. According to people we
(01:26:52):
talked up to within the organization and throughout the league,
that the biggest problem there what derailed that team was
Mike Tomlin showing favoritism to Big Ben Roethlisberger, letting Ben
get away with stuff that no one else could get
away with. So Ben was late to meetings and Tomlin
(01:27:16):
let it go. Players, the veteran leaders of the team
wanted to talk to the player to Big Ben privately
about that, and Tomlin gave Ben a heads up that Hey,
these guys are gonna come and talk to you. It
seemed like a betrayal of trust to the veteran players.
And so the point is that when the players saw
(01:27:39):
that Tomlin was given Big Ben treatment that no one
else got. Antonio Brown and Levian Bell didn't like it.
And when they became stars, especially Antonio, he said, if
Ben gets special treatment, then I'm going to get special treatment.
(01:28:00):
Because the reports on Antonio it seems it seems crazy
to think it is now. But when he was drafted,
remember what the sixth round out of Central Michigan. Obviously
wasn't some blue chipper in high school. He went to
Central Michigan. He the SCOUTI report said he was selfless.
That's what Greg Jennings went right in the Central Michigan too,
(01:28:22):
Greg THEYNH I think. So that's that's how he That's
how his relationship. He's probably a big brother. Yeah, so
you know now he's viewed its selfish. He was viewed
it self less coming out of college. And this article
at least says it's because he witnessed Big Ben getting
away with stuff and so he decided I'm gonna do
(01:28:46):
the same thing. Went to Western Michigan. I'm sorry, and
that's my fear in you mean Greg went to Western Michigan.
But that's my fear with Antonio in the in the
Raiders locker room. That's like he kind of saw what
Ben did and decided, hey, I can get away with
that too. Then somebody's gonna be looking at him. I'm
(01:29:09):
not saying everybody. I'm not even saying most of the
players necessarily, but somebody's gonna look at him and think
the same thing. But what's your take on just the
Steelers thing? Robed like Tomlin? You know, look, James Harrison,
we both have been with him up at FS one
former Steelers great. He said it time and time again
(01:29:30):
that Tomlin needed to be harder on the players. Right,
he's a players coach, There's no doubt about it. And
you know, we've even had our colleague Terry Bradshaw, remember
said that he didn't he didn't look at him as
a coach like a but like a cheerleader, right, and
he was way too slack and easy with the players.
That's Terry Bradshaw's words, right, right. And you know, and
(01:29:52):
the other part is you just wonder, Chris, I'm not
surprised by the Ben Roethlisberger stuff. And and this is
well reported, and you know he's got a lot of
good stuff in this piece, Mike Freeman, but I'm not
totally surprised because Ben was getting away with a lot
of stuff. Ben had some off the field stuff that
(01:30:12):
was pretty ugly, Chris, and he got away with it right,
real ugly, and they kind of early in his career,
and he kind of remember he was also involved in
a motorcycle accident, remember that, just doing kind of reckless stuff.
And then I remember the stuff of ripping teammates on
his radio show and and stuff that you probably wouldn't
call you the best of of as far as being
(01:30:35):
the best teammate. And I could see where that where
people could look at that and go, way, man, what
how come he's getting away with that? And you're right,
not everybody has that person out. Even if other people
are doing wrong, they're not gonna follow suit because everybody's
just not built that way. They might go, I think
that's unfair, but that wouldn't lead them to believe. Like
you know, Chris, we we work at a place and
(01:30:59):
there's things that bigger stars than us could probably get
away with that we can't. Right, we both know that
we were not crazy, But I think I think that
doesn't mean we're gonna do it exactly exactly because we
just know better but there could be a situation and
I see where Antonio could obviously feel that, especially when
(01:31:22):
you talk about him as a star, and I think
some people just when you look at his numbers and
what he's been able to accompany, He's done things that
no other wide receiver has ever done in the NFL,
not even Jerry Rice. So he's on that plateau to
say you're doing this for Ben, And I get it.
Ben has a two couple of super Bowls as well,
you know what I mean, which is the difference between
(01:31:44):
him and Antonio Brown. But Antonio is a is a
star studded, potential Hall of Famer as well. Yeah, I
just think that, And look, there are exceptions, you know.
I mean we've talked about it a little bit. Yes, today,
the Dallas Cowboys under Jimmy Johnson, I mean, they had
all types of mess going on that, you know, with
(01:32:06):
Michael Irvin and Dione Sanders, and I mean it was
just a animal house up in there, right, And they
were obviously won three Super Bowls. So I'm not saying
it's always the case, but the general rule, the general rule,
I don't think you can win consistently, if at all,
(01:32:27):
in that type of environment. And I know you don't
like the Patriots, and I'm not. I'm not this huge
Patriots fan, but I do think they clearly are dynasty
and they are a no nonsense place. You know, it's
not for everybody, but it is effective. And the Steelers
(01:32:47):
who used to be that way, Chuck Nole was like that,
somewhat Bill Coward to some degree. Now they're a little
more lax. They were at least with a bell A
Brown and Ell bell a b and a Ell bell. Uh.
I think they'll try to go back to, you know,
the old Steeler way this year, but you still got
(01:33:10):
the problem a big Ben running the place. Ye And
remember the GM. Kevin Connor came out at the end
of the last season and said, we got fifty two
kids and one parent. Yes, and that's ridiculous, And that
didn't sit well with a lot of guys who have
grown men with wives and children talking about that their kids.
According to the GM, that was that was a bad
(01:33:31):
That was rob you know this, And I do not
think he did. Kevin Connor in any way meant it
this way. I don't even think the thought necessarily crossed
his mind. But there's always there's the racial element in
America and everything. And when you say most of your
players are black and their kids under this white parent
(01:33:55):
that there's that's always in undertone too, no doubt about it.
And and I think that's what people some people took
exception to. You have to you have to be conscious
of stuff like that. I don't know people, Oh what
a meaning like that, but you need to be conscious.
You're talking about different people and situations and they're grown men, families, wives,
kids to grown men. Can't call them kids now, no question,
(01:34:19):
no question. So it's interesting. What is your take? What
do you think? Uh, the Steelers? What do you think
went wrong? Why were not they able to even get
to a Super Bowl, let alone win one when they
had the three Killer Bees? Now they're broken up. You
think they'll be better this year even though they let
(01:34:40):
a lot of talent, potentially two Hall of Famers go.

Mike Freeman about the demise of the Killer Bees Antonio Brown,
Ben Roethlisberger and Levian Bell in Pittsburgh. What do you
(01:35:46):
guys think cause them to fall? And without winning a
Super Bowl or even an AFC title eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox. Lets get to the phones right
and Chris is right. If you get a chance, man,
go to the Bleacher and check it out. It's about
have you printed out Chris nine pages? I mean, you
don't get this kind of journalism in sports that often
(01:36:08):
take a look, all right, Carlton in Louisiana. You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Carlton, what's happening?
What's going on? Guys? How y'all doing great? Great man?
How are you? I'm all right? Yeah, I was listening
on the topic. And I think the two main reasons
that they didn't never make it with the three bees
was one injury. If you go back and look throughout
(01:36:31):
the stretch, they never was all three on the field.
Besides the you know, against the Jags in twenty seventeen,
there was never all three really on the field. And
then that that Jags it got blown out at home,
they got blown out or we scored p five points
and gave up forty eight. I thing, I mean A
I was hurt a decent amount. And the obviously also
(01:36:55):
some suspensions at the wrong times. That Patriots game got
hurt early. Abe. You remember he got knocked out in
his own that's right, That's right. Yeah, and that one
year that was it, you know, and then the drama
was all throughout that too. That didn't help. And you
know what's crazy is Carlton, you brought up the score
even though they scored like forty five points or whatever
(01:37:16):
they scored in that game against Jacksonville. For Jacksonville coming
in your building and put up. Do you remember that
the Jacksonville jack was Oh, yeah, to put up. That's
that's why I felt like a blowout. It was unbelievable. Right,
they punted it down our throat. Leonard Fournette pounded and
we had played them, you know, a few weeks before that,
so it didn't It ain't like we didn't know what
(01:37:37):
was coming exactly, no doubt. Good called Carlton, Thank you.
How about Jody in Atlanta? You're in the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Jody? Jody? Hey, how
are you guys doing to that great man? How are you?
I'm excellent, Thanks for backing my call. Uh the last
caller was spot on. Man, this this is such a
(01:37:59):
way of football. Some things don't go perfect all the time.
You can't have I mean you can't. You had really
good players. But also, like y'all said, that Jacksonville game,
they were they were perfect, They were in the right position,
and they just lost. You can't always win, man, And
when things happen over the course of time. Chit chatting
is talking arguing and fussing. Everybody's not gonna be on
(01:38:21):
the same page. And that article, I'm definitely gonna go
read that when I ain't up on you. Yeah, do
you worry? You know? The article really talked about Antonio
Brown picking up a lot of his negative tendencies from
Big Ben. Do you is a college still there? I
was gonna ask, does he Do you worry about that
with teams like, for instance, Antonio Brown and Oakland or
(01:38:43):
you think that's overblown? Most Definitely I worry about that stuff.
But also I'm worried about Antonio. I've never seen any
athlete go through this much stuff in the span of
three weeks. Crazy, really getting out of and he's so talented, Joe,
do you know that he's just a good player? All right,
appreciate the call. Let's go to got an update speaking
(01:39:06):
of Antonio Brown. We do have an update. Christ don't
get your hopes, so go ahead, Rob. Yeah. This is
courtesy of Ed Warder from ESPN. He just tweeted this out. Says,
according to a source, the Raiders have fined Antonio Brown
and an unspecified amount of money for his unprofessional behavior
with Mike Mayock. So not really a big surprise. But
(01:39:29):
here's the big shocker quote. He's been fined and he's
not happy. According to a source, Yeah, but why would
he be happy? He didn't want to give up money.
But you know what I'll find is better than a suspension.
He'll pay it and move on. I mean if he
if he's fine, like if he raises a ruckus about it,
(01:39:52):
then I mean, look, like I said, I would have
cut him already. But if he robbed, let me ask
you this, rob they've already been he's fined or he
is fined apparently, but they've Should he raise a ruckus?
He's not? Should he just be like man, I cussed
out the freaking GM's whole team not but but he's not.
Why should he be happy to give up? I get
(01:40:13):
that because he says he's not happy, okay, But that
doesn't mean that it's it's he doesn't okay. But I'm
just asking you. If he makes a big stink out
of this, like post something on Instagram or something, should
he do that? I just I just doubt he'll do that. Chris,
he's already been to the law. Doubted he almost retire
(01:40:34):
over to him. No, I doubt everybody on Earth. I
doubt I doubt that after what he's been through in
the emotional apology and knowing that you know, he still
hasn't played his first game, so you can't cut up.
They still could could uh suspend you and and and
and get from underneath that if you don't play in
(01:40:55):
that game on Monday. Do you see what I'm saying.
There's still three days, so you can't do nothing crazy.
That's all. Yeah, I feel you can. We squeeze another
one on. Yeah, Dwight in Texas, you're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What you got, Dwight? Hey? Good?
Even a fella, This is a great topic. I just
wanted to say. I'm a diehard Stealers fan and Carton
(01:41:18):
from Louisiana. Man, he stole my thunder. That isn't exactly
right now. Big being admitted on multiple occasions that he
was not a good teammate. He even reached that reached
out to AB to apologize, but AB was not interested
in talking to him. And then I can tell you
we can go back to twenty and fourteen to twenty fifteen,
Levian Bell was either suspended or hurt. You could never
(01:41:39):
count on him in the big game. The only time
he even played in the playoffs was twenty sixteen against
Rob the Chiefs, and then he got hurt first player
of the game against the Patriots, you know. And then
Rob you made and Rob you said about the Jacksonville game,
I dfense was harbor that day. We was down twenty
eight to three before you know it, and everything from there,
it just went downhill. Man, it went downhill. And Mike Tomlin, Okay,
(01:42:01):
Mike Tomlin is a great coach, but man, it's hard
to You can't babysit these guys. You gotta coach him.
And I think a lot of that fell on Mike
Thomlins from him being a babyshit of Ted Brashaw made
some unorthodox comments about Mike Tomlin, about the cheerleader and
all of that. Is the leader of men. You got
to admit that he has a Super Bowl rings up
(01:42:22):
on this belt. But if y'all I'm glad I want
to read that article. Uh, Mike Freeman, you know that
twenty fourteen and twenty fifteen, you remember we went to
the we went to Denver, We went nothing in there
about injuries. Yeah, I'm gonna tell you that, but make
sure you go read it. Yeah, it's a great story.
The eye couple wants to put some money in your pocket.
(01:42:44):
You know what that means. We have a guest coming
up who can help you do exactly that. That's next,
but first's bringing our man Steve to Sager for West
Trendy Steve. Oakland wide receiver Antonio Brown practice today and
should play Monday night in the season opener. Apparently no
suspension Brown's tirade against the GM, but he was reportedly fine.
The Chiefs gay wide receiver Tyreek Hill a three year extension.
(01:43:06):
LA Chargers kicker Michael Badgeley is questionable for this weekend
against the Colts after suffering a groin injury in practice today.
The Dolphins signed veteran tackle JaMarcus Webb. Jacksonville tackle Cam
Robinson is doubtful with a knee injury. Four college football
games tonight at the top of the hour, Arizona State
will be hosting Sacramento State one hundred and five degrees
at Sundevil Stadium. This hour on the blue turf at
(01:43:29):
Boise State, the twenty fourth rank Broncos are scoreless late
first quarter against visiting Marshall second quarter, wake Forest back
in the lead twenty four to fourteen. At rice halftime.
Virginia up thirty five three over William and Mary. Rafael
Nadal is close to making it two sets to love
the lead in his semifinal at the US Open. Daniel
Medvedev already won his semi US men soccer's scoreless mid
(01:43:51):
first half in an exhibition against Mexico. That's on FS one.
Mexico has just put in a goal. It's one nothing
for them. In New Jersey to Major League Baseball, Red
Sox at home lead the rival Yankee six one in
the top of the seventh inning. The A's completed a
suspended game with a win over Detroit seven to three.
Cardinals up four one at Pittsburgh in the top of
(01:44:11):
the seventh inning. Also in progress in the ninth the
Rays are winning again five nothing over the Blue Jays,
who have just one hit. And it's the red hot
Diamondbacks up six to five at Cincinnati in the top
of the sixth inning. The Braves have won seven in
a row. They're leading to nothing over the Nationals bottom
of the six back to the odd couple in ten seconds. First,
a word from Farmers. At Farmer's Insurance, we know there's
(01:44:32):
a crucial difference between a kick drum pedal and your
car's accelerator pedal, because at Farmers we've seen and covered it.
We are under written my Farmers truck Fire Insurance Exchanges'
affiliates products unavailable every state. At Milwaukee, Christian yellowch has
hit his forty fourth homer of the year. Brewers up
five one over the Cubs in the bottom of the fourth,
Indians and Twins tied one one top of the fifth,
(01:44:55):
back to the Outcus Steve real quick. So I would
have never believed this, But the Braves are still within
striking distance of the best record in the National League. Yeah,
Dodgers ninety two wins, This would be eighty eight for
the Braves. That is that unbelievable. It's you to the
Dodgers have had and it's not just the Dodgers. That
means they're close to Houston, They're close to the Yankees.
(01:45:16):
Yanks are apparently not gonna win and stuck on ninety
two wins as well. That is incredible. Wow. All right,
the c I couple coming you live from the Geico
Fox Sports Radio studios. It's easy to say, fifteen percent
more on your carrent shots with Geico. Go to Geico
dot com or call eight hundred nine four seven Auto.
The only hard part figuring out which way is easier.
All right, we're bringing in our man just in time
(01:45:39):
for the start of the NFL season. He's a man
you want to know, you want to listen to, you
want to hear him out if you're gonna be placing
bets this weekend. He's the MGM Grand Race and Sports
Book Director, and he can put loot in your pocket.
Lamar Mitchell, Now, how's that for an introduction? Lamar, thank you,
(01:46:03):
thank you, good to be on. We got love for you,
my man, We got love for you. Now, look, let's
get right to it because a lot of fans are
they got to place their bet so they want to
hear from you. Yesterday it looked like Antonio Brown is
gonna be suspended from Monday's game against Denver and maybe
cut all together. Now he's not only still a Raider,
but it looks like you'll be active Monday night. How
(01:46:25):
much is that line fluctuated in the past twenty four hours?
We moved one point. So with ab coming back, we
were Denver two. But now we're Denver one. Okay, Okay,
so it didn't move. You still got you still got
Denver winning up. Yeah, yes, sir, you better believe it.
(01:46:49):
I don't know if that's gonna happen, because you know,
going in the black hole Monday night, black home opener
in the Oakland, that's a tricky place for those Broncos
to be, no doubt about that. So we're not gonna
beat around a bush on this. Last last night's a
Bears Packers game was ugly. Ten combined sacks, twenty combined penalties,
(01:47:11):
only thirteen points, so the teams didn't, no doubt, look
kind of rusty. How hard is it to set up
betting line with so many guys skipping the preseason and
apparently not being ready for the regular season. What's a
big challenge because you don't see a line in the preseason,
and especially with the team like Green Bay where you
have a new offense, new system. You don't know how
(01:47:34):
number twelve's gonna do. But he is number twelve, and
I don't know, there's only maybe another number twelve that
might be better. But as long as that number twelve
is playing for Green Bay, they always have a chance.
So with the home rivalry like that, you know it's
a field goal game, and that's basically what you're seeing
is home field for the Bears, and that's how we
(01:47:57):
had to look at that game right there. Earlier this week,
we saw a story that listed how much each starting
quarterback was worth against the spread. So it said Aaron Rodgers,
if he were to sit out a game, the line
would drop by seven and a half points. Tom Brady
if he sits, it drops by seven, so on and
so forth. The article also said the only starting quarterback
(01:48:20):
in the league who this was said about was Eli Manny.
If he were to sit, the line would actually go
up a point. What do you think about that? Is
Eli Manny that bad at this point? Wells Kenny, I
don't want to say he's that bad, but you fan
to some of his counterparts, he's out the Eli Manny
that took him two super Bowls. And you know, with
(01:48:42):
Jones on the bench, they have something that looks good
in the preseason. But just because you look at in
the preseason doesn't mean you're gonna look good when the live,
live ammunition is fine. So right, Eli Manny, like I said,
I mean, until he proved he's still Eli Manny, not
like Saron Rodgers, but he's still Eli Manning. And we
(01:49:04):
know his skills have deteriorated. So yes, we look at that,
and we look at the entire Giant offense, you know,
so it's not just Eli can he hit the open receivers.
That we hold the ball too long also factor into
making that spread, Lamar. We made our our predictions on
(01:49:24):
the season on Wednesday, and I had the Jets making
the playoffs in the AFC and Chris had the Rams
missing the playoffs from the NFC. Which of those two
bets would you say is the biggest long shot? And
Y in your opinion, I would definitely say the Rams
missing the playoffs is the bigger long shot, only because
(01:49:45):
their offense is still solid, They still have solid players,
are decent. They proved that they can play a first
place schedule, win the games they threw. They play fourth
place sched to win the game. And when you look
in their division, it's Seattle and Seattle Cards, the Carlos.
We don't know what Kyler Murraye is gonna do, but
(01:50:08):
we know they're gonna be rebuilding, and so you don't
expect them to come out of the gates. And like
I said, Seattle, Hey, I like to live on the
I like to live life on the edge. Lamar, So
he likes to be wrong. We're just about Lamar Mitchell,
the MGM Brand's race and sports book director. All right, Lamar,
(01:50:31):
I want to hit you with this one. One of
the games, Robin I. We do a pigs can pick
off every Friday. We'll be doing it in a few moments.
One of the games we're picking is the Colts at
the Chargers, and Charges are six and a half point favorites.
We all know Andrew Luck is gone, but I think
people are forgetting that the Chargers don't have Melvin Gordon,
they don't have their all pro safety Derwin James, or
(01:50:53):
they're left tackle. Is that stuff playing into the betting
window as well? Well, you know, everybody, like you said, everybody,
Andrew Luck, Andrew Luck, Andrew up. They're not looking at that,
you know, Chris joking. Koby is back there. And the
fact that you know they have a chip on their shoulders,
the Colts, and they're gonna play to that chip on
(01:51:15):
the shoulders. Whereas everyone thinks that just because hey, when
when the backup was in there. He did just a
fine job. He's not Andrew Luck, but yes he the
Colts will be able to hang with the Chargers. Like
you said, Gordon's not there. Chargers banged up, So that
line might be inflated. But it's a public line because
(01:51:38):
people will look at no Luck. So the line might
be inflated in that situation where we have to say, Okay,
we're gonna shade it this way to the public. Play Lamar,
we we've been having a debate for a long time.
Chris and I made a bed. Most people believe that
Chris lost a bed, and he owes that fit. And
I just want to hear him. My name is Vegas.
(01:51:58):
I want to hear what Lamar says about this situation.
So basically, I said, we bet a pair of Jordan's
and I said that the Lakers wouldn't make the playoffs.
And Chris had like some his out cause was if
Lebron gets hurt or something, the bet would be called off. Well, no,
we didn't say that. That's that's understood, and and I
(01:52:21):
was like, that's not how it goes in Vegas. Off
a quarterback or somebody gets hurt you still got to
pay out no matter what. Am I right? Lamar? You're
You're absolutely correct. All bets our action, no matter what happened.
And it's funny you should say that because even though
the Polts lost luck, some people think, oh, I shouldn't
be able to I should be able to return my
(01:52:42):
bet on that because he's not he retired. No, I
think if if he blew out his knee, you still
have action. It doesn't matter. So if Lebron doesn't plague,
it doesn't matter. You have action on that team no
matter what. Once you for the better in Lamar, have
you ever seen a twenty seven dollars pair of Jordan What?
Because you're about to see him all rob No, you're
(01:53:04):
die in the next few Mind me a real pair
of Jordans and an anti up Christ period. He's Lamar
Mitchell Jim Grand the director of sports and Booking. All right,
rab Lamar, great job. We'll get you on again, and
when Robbing are in Vegas, we're definitely gonna look you up. Hey, hey, Lamar, Lamar,
(01:53:25):
the luck of the weekend the Lions, the Lions minus
two and a half over the Cardinals. That's your lock.
That's my lock. Yeah, yeah, we were talking about that. Uh.
I gave Kyler Murray in that offense. We gotta see you.
You know, they didn't show too much in the preseason.
(01:53:47):
He'sn't playing in his offensive toy with a freshman in
high school and you know what a legend he was
down in Texas as a high school press. So I
would have to uh, especially at home, I would have
to take those points. Well, Lamar, just full disclosure. Rob
was fifty percent last year and the pigs get pick
that's good. I was sixty four percent. Here we go,
(01:54:08):
you know, but he did make some money. Yeah, but
he won't pay for the Jordan's he lost to me.
That's the problem. I'm some eighteen dollars George stops where
they're gonna be. Wait. I can't wait to post them
on Instagram. All right, thanks a lot, Lamar. The couple
wants to put money in your pocket and we I'm
(01:54:32):
about to do so, and the pigs can't pick off
a couple of Fox Sports Radio Rob Gee. Fox Sports
Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation.

(01:54:53):
wrapping up another great show in great week, and we're
gonna do it begin in this week. Every Friday will
be hitting you with the pigs can pick Off for
the NFL games on Sunday. We picked five a week
and last year I rolled. I have my old theme
(01:55:16):
music mixed up. I mean, this is so heavy handed beat,
it's ridiculous. And don't you like that beat? What's what's
the number to Lily and human resources? Because this is so?
This is so. Can you get to play your theme music?
You gotta admit that's funky, makes you want to move
(01:55:40):
too many times? I was writing NBA playoffs and finals
and all that, but you gotta get you some theme music.
Other than then, it's hot in here. That's my theme music.
That's big daddy. That's it. All right, let's give you
(01:56:01):
might win this year, who knows, we'll see. Let's go,
let's do it. Let's it's time for the pigskin pickoff.
You ready to retire? The odd couple is gonna make
you rich gambling corruption picks their pigskin pickoff. That's right,
it is the pigskin pickoff. I got five games that
Chris and Rob are gonna pick against the spread to
(01:56:22):
help you make some money and save for the kids
college fund, whether it's your own daughter or someone else's daughter. Right,
Rob Parker that there might be somebody else's door for me,
all right, so let's get right to it. Chris Bruce,
sorry's the reigning champion. Does he get the first crack
at it? Game number one that we are picking the
Tennessee Titans traveling to Cleveland to take on Chris's Browns.
(01:56:44):
Browns are five and a half point home favorites. Chris,
who you like? I once heard a great basketball player say,
let's go Brownies. I'm yeah, I got Cleveland. I got
Tennessee Titans beating the Browns to wreck their season to start. Wow.
(01:57:08):
I thought you would have learned something from that. So
you don't even need the points. You're you're taking it
out right, is what you're doing, right right. I think
they'll win the game, and they'll win by seven. So
that was twelve. You just don't want to get the
Browns and he loves no. I'm just picking the team.
But I think here we go. Game number two, an
NFC clashed between the Atlanta Falcons travel up north to
take on Kirk Cousins and Minnesota Vikings. Vikings four point
(01:57:31):
home favorites, Rob Parker, who do you like? I'm gonna
take the Vikings. I can't remember what I saw like
the Falcons having one on the road in Minnesota since
Moby Dick was a guppy or something. It's been a
long time. I'm going with the Vikings. I hope Julio
Jones plays. Now he's saying he's gonna play, right, We
(01:57:52):
don't know yet, don't know. I didn't see that right now.
Antonio Brown more likely to play than Julio Jones. Well,
Julio said he's playing. But I am going to go
with Minnesota to win the game. But I think at
Lanta cover. So I'm going with the Falcons, all right.
Here we go. Picks can pick off our couple of
Fox Sports Radio Game number three, the reigning Super Bowl
(01:58:15):
runner up Ala Rams two point road favorites in Carolina
against the Panthers. Chris, what do you like? I got Carolina.
I don't think Todd Gurley is Todd Gurley. This will
be easy for the Rams. I got the Rams winning
this one. They will win by ten points. Wow, Okay,
(01:58:36):
here we go. Game number four, the game we talked
about with Lamar Mitchell a few minutes ago, The Andrew
luck less Indianapolis Colts traveling to Ala they take on
the Chargers Chargers six and a half point home favorites.
Rob Parker, who you pick in I'm taking the Colts
plus six and a half. I think that it's a
close game and the Chargers will probably win, but the
(01:58:57):
Colds will cover. So I'm taking on this one. I
think the Coles Charges might win, but I got Indie
all right. The first time you guys agree here on
the pigskin pickoff. Last game the game of the weekend,
Big Ben No A B. No Levion traveling to New
England to take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
(01:59:19):
Patriots five and a half point home favorites. Chris Broussard,
who you picking? The Patriots win, but Pittsburgh covers. I
got the Steelers. Patriots win and they win by more
than five and a half. They win by seven, So
I got the New England in that game. Actually I'm
(01:59:42):
picking at you. I think I think, ye, yes, I
don't think you ever picked the Patriots last year. I
think I did. I just think in this case, everybody
thinks the two big stars at Pittsburgh's laws doesn't doesn't
meet anything. I think they're gonna struggle. You don't have
making the playoffs, I think right, I don't have them
(02:00:03):
making the playoffs. And my picks, I did pick the
package yesterday. I also picked the Lions and the forty
nine ers as a pick them. Chris, that's those are
my money. Bet those are the ones you bet. It's
