defensive end, coming up in less than thirty minutes to
talk about the Saints big win and much much more
around the NFL. And even though we're gonna have a
(02:17):
great show here on this trash talking Tuesday, Robbing, I
hearts are a bit heavy as we mourn the death
of a friend and a great man in the NBA.
Rob you want to share, no doubt about it. Fred
McCleod was he Chris as you know, the Cavaliers play
(02:42):
by play man since two thousand and six. He came
over and Dan Gilbert bought the team. Absolutely. He also
did the Pistons for twenty two years on television in
Detroit and I had the pleasure of working with Fred.
Were about ten years in Detroit at Channel four, we
(03:04):
did a Sunday night show called Sports Final Edition. Chris.
He is the reason I'm on television, no doubt about it.
He early on was like, Rob, you're really good. He
featured me on that Sunday night show and never really
wanted me to take off. I really didn't think it
(03:24):
was that like serious and Forever's like, no, you need
to be on the show every single week. And unfortunately,
at age sixty seven playing golf in Cleveland, Yes, he
had apparently had a heart attack and died. He leaves
behind his wife, Beth McLeod, who I know as well,
just great people and three children, and he's gonna be missed.
(03:47):
He was a great guy. And I know people say
that all the time about people die Chris, but you
were around him. He Fred McLeod was a super dude. Yeah.
I was not working in the same city as he
was when he came to Cleveland, but I did a
lot of stories on that Cavaliers team that he covered
(04:08):
that he you know, broadcasted about with Lebron James. I
did several features on Lebron and so I did, you know,
get to hear Fred quite a bit and was around
him a little bit, and he was a great broadcaster
and really a great human being from the time the
little time I spent around him. So as you said,
he will be missed and the NBA world definitely mourns
(04:30):
along with his family, no doubt. Fred McLeod, great man,
dead at sixty seven. So let's introduce the couple crew
Rob and let's get into it. We will do that,
and we wouldn't be able to do this fine radio
program without him. Lee is our producer and for Rob
g Alex of course is all engineer as always get
(04:53):
to have Alex back day after day. Such a rarity,
such a rarity. He's moving on the bigger and better thing.
I guess. I don't know. Stop saying that. Our sports
anchors Ralph Irvin, he will keep us updated throughout the program.
And our intern is Gus today, so we are in
(05:13):
full effect. They are all on the other side of
the glass Chris Broussard, And it is a trash talking Tuesday,
so let's kick somebody. Let's do that and you will
be able to call in on trash Talking Tuesday in
the third hour of the show. So get your takes ready.
You only get the call in once per show, So
if you want to do a trash talking take, don't
(05:34):
call in it during the other hours, but get your
take ready. Keep it hot, because guys are getting better
by the week. You can trash anyone or anything in
the world of sports. All right, let's uh Antonio Brown. Rob,
we can't get away from him as the lead story
in the NFL. And first we do have to give
a few props. I know, Rob g Whiches, he was
(05:56):
here to hear this because he's a huge Oakland Raiders fan.
But they look good last night. I know Denver isn't
a team of world beaters. No, and you still have
to win. Who's on the schedule. I'm not knocking it,
but I'd have to see more before I'm really buy
into the Raiders. But yes, they did look good and
they got a big win. Yeah. I mean, look, they're
gonna have a road, a tough road ahead of them
to make the playoffs, and that's obviously the goal. But
(06:19):
they looked good last night. The rookie Josh Jacobs ran
the ball. Dare I say like Marshawn Lynch at times?
I mean he was carrying defenders. You're running over guys.
He really looked good. And the receiver Terrell Williams filled
in it kind of is their number one guy now
(06:40):
that Antonio Brown isn't there and he looked great, so
you know, and then Derek Carr has had some good
years as a quarterback, so he's capable at least we think.
So they look good and I think, rob they may
be playing with a chip on their shoulder they should
be after essentially, I know Antonio wasn't there a lot,
(07:01):
and I'm sure the guys didn't get attached to him,
but clearly he didn't want to be there, and I
know I don't think the players were the main reason.
Obviously had issues with Mike Mayock, the general manager, and
maybe some other issues. But as a player, I would
take that personally. I would take it like he didn't
(07:22):
want to be here, he didn't think we were good enough.
Even if I had to just tell myself that and
go out there and play with a chip on your
shoulder and look at it like, you know, nobody believes
in you, starting with Antonio Brown. Not that you have
to he has to be an enemy, but go out
there and use it to your advantage. Yeah, I just
don't look at it that way. You know, once they
(07:43):
took away to guarantees of the money, then that's why
he didn't want to play. That had nothing to do
with the players. Or he didn't get a ton of
money from New England. Well he got nine million in
the base years salary. Nobody got nine million was a
signing bonus. I mean that that was more than he
was gonna get. It was. It was a week to
week contract with Oakland. I'm just saying, if I'm a player,
(08:04):
I get that I wouldn't want to play for that.
Who would want to play for no guaranteed money in
a week to week thing? So I don't think that
that they would look at it that way. But all
they had something Chris. The thing that I was interested
in was they all addressed it. They didn't run from it,
and they said nice things about him. That's all you
think they were gonna say. No, I'm just saying that's
the best thing to do. They did the right thing,
(08:25):
stay above board, wish the guide all the best and
move on. And that's what they did. I was glad
to see how well they did. No, they I mean
they said what you would expect them to say. Do
I think I think Derek Carr means it? Does Gruden
mean it? I don't know. I'm not mad at him.
If he doesn't, I think he probably doesn't. Um, I
mean this is it made him look bad. No, it's
(08:47):
an embarrassment for him. I don't disagree with you, and
he did the right thing. His tenure has been embarrassing you.
Whatever you want, it's too am I right, it's been
embarrassing SAMs or Look, you give up two model citizens
who happened to be great players, great Khalil Mackinnamari Cooper,
(09:07):
and you bring in, yes, a great player, but a
guy who's a headache, and ultimately it doesn't work out
and it blew up. And so you're right. It looked
bad for him, but he did take the high road. Now,
of course, Antonio's going to New England and a lot
of people are excited to either they think it's gonna
work and they're gonna be great, or they're excited to
(09:28):
just see what happens here. And Bill Belichick and Tom
Brady finally addressed it. Here's what Belichick said, take you
day by day. Um, we haven't practiced yet, and so
we're going through information with him like we were with
any new player, you know, on the practice field after Wednesday,
(09:49):
talk about Thursday and just go through the week. So see,
I'll go. That's the same thing you said about Randy
Moss when we got brought him in. Let's hear Tom Brady.
He spoke as well, I'm not judge anything before. You know,
I've had a chance to go out and practice and prepare,
and I've had so many great teammates over the years,
and you know, Antonio medium today and I really enjoyed
(10:10):
being around him. He's very the very smart football player,
knows how to play the game. He's been extremely productive
and the only thing that I know what we can
do he is to go out there and work at
it and to meet and to communicate and get on
the practice field and go through things. All right, Rob
(10:31):
your thoughts, I think he handled the right way. He
doesn't have to gush and go crazy. I don't think
he wanted to put all of his eggs in the oh.
A b is the greatest of all time and I
just love this guy, and blah blah blah. You don't
know what's gonna happen. You don't know if he's gonna
what switch he's gonna be on. But I think tom
Brady for once, for one, normally with the I'm always
(10:54):
got an issue with the aw shucks and gee whiz
and all that was, but in this but in this case,
that's what he should have been. I think this is
really what it should have been, Chris, because you don't
want to stake your reputation and everything by telling everybody, oh,
I got this. This is different because everybody was going
(11:14):
to New England hasn't worked out, so I'm not well,
but it's just true. I think everybody says that, oh,
once you go to New England, it's got tom Brady
and those guys are gonna get you to fall in line.
It doesn't always work. So all I'm saying here is
I think tom Brady and and fall of people say, hey,
tom Brady, tom Brady handled it right. He did the
(11:35):
right thing, He said the right thing. Well, he wasn't
the only quarterback who has something to say about it,
believe it or not. Brett Farve all the way from
where he became Mississippi. Is he becoming an analyst now?
I mean he's all over the place commercials. I thought
him throwing the ball with Pat Mahomes the other day
on TV, so let's hear I guess it is better
(11:56):
than flashing pictures a co workers, so that if anyone
is equipped to bring in a player in a similar
situation as Antonio Brown and make it work, it's the
new England Patriots. Now, I'll be honest with you, if
you watch the game the other night. They don't need him,
(12:19):
In fact, I think it almost creates a problem by
trying to figure out how to keep him happy and
playing and quiet. Well, I disagree with Brett Farve saying
they don't need him. They don't need him to be
very good and a super Bowl contender, but they're clearly
better with him, and I think to be the super
(12:41):
Bowl favorite, which I have them as now, they do
need him. I think Kansas City's the favorite as long
as Antonio Brown is not there. But I do agree
with Farve, and I think it plays into what Brady
and Belichick said. I agree with you, Rob when you
what you said about them gushing over him, but I
think it was a little different. I think it's just
(13:03):
a precursor to how he's going to be treated. They
talked about him like he was a good, solid player,
nothing special, no superstar. And they didn't gonna say he's
not anything special, of course, but they talked about him
like you talk about any starting caliber player that joined
your team. And Brett Farve takes it a step further
(13:25):
and says they don't even need him. They got a
bunch of other great receivers or good receivers without him.
And I think that is the question mark. Will Antonio
Brown be able to behave Will he be able to
be at his best? Will he be happy and you know,
well adjusted if he's not the show. And there'll be
(13:49):
games of course when he's the show, but he probably
won't be the show every week. He averaged over those
six years where he averaged got over a thousand yards
receiving every year, first receiver in the NFL history to
do it. He averaged one hundred and seventy targets a year.
What happens the Sunday when he only gets three targets? Well,
(14:12):
I mean that, but that's what happens when you move
and you're a part of something different and you leave
something where you were right, Well, just it's something that happens.
Randy Moss went there and they found plenty of room
for him. Well he was the man, and I'm just saying,
but he could. But also what Coo can become the man?
It depends on how they play it, how much he's open,
(14:34):
if if they're looking at Josh Gordon. I mean, I'm
just saying Gordon looked very good the other night. But
we don't. But we don't know yet until he gets
out there and what happens and what Tom Brady can
see from him. And I want to see something. I
just want to see a few games and then I
could kind of get a gauge, but I just don't
know what to expect. Well, I'm expecting him to play
well there and I'm expecting him to behave at least
(14:56):
for this year. Oh yeah, I agree, And yeah, you know,
but COMPETI you're not aware. I think none of us can,
no matter how much faith we want to put in Antonio.
And that's a scary statement to make, but you know,
you can't. None of us can act like there's not
a chance this could go south. Of course it could.
But the whole thing is, I think, uh, he's got
a lot, he's got a lot riding on it. The
(15:17):
way that they just gave him the other uh twenty million.
You know, if you know, that's like a that's an
incentive right there, sitting right there for him, Chris. All
he has to do is play and do his thing.
So that thirty that he lost he had, he gets
it back. He could get it back, He could get
it back. So it's there on the table for him.
And then you got your other situation of do I
(15:40):
want to mess with me in the Hall of Fame? Like, okay, dude,
you're in route for a Hall of Fame career and
you get Ko in front of you as an example. Absolutely,
and that's somebody. It clearly was first ballot. And that's
that's my point is if you go, Okay, you had
all that little the bumping the road and you had
a bad ending in Pittsburg and preseason in Oakland. But
(16:03):
if you go and ball out the next couple of
years in New England, people aren't talking about that. People
are talking about the numbers and this guy and how
how he's done everything. So that to look at those
organizations and then because Berg there are other people, whether
you want to point the finger at Timelin to some
degree certainly been Roethlisberger. You know, you will have other
(16:25):
people to point the finger at, and then certainly Oakland
and especially Gruden and Mayok and so it could take
a lot of the smoke off of you, of the
heat off of you. You're right, Chris especially, say if
the Pittsburgh then collapses, right and it's bad there, didn't
you go and he behaves himself and plays well maybe
super Bowl? Yeah, And then you say they made a
(16:46):
mistake Pittsburgh. It was it was Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Tomlin.
They were to issue and it wasn't him, right, So
all right, what do you guys think? Eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine. Is Brett Farve right that it
will be hard to keep Antonio Brown happy in New England?
(17:07):
You turned away in It's The Eye Couple, Chris and

(18:13):
threw it out to the listeners A seven seven ninety
nine on Fox's Brent Farv Right, is it gonna be
happy to keep? Or is it gonna be hard to keep?
A be happy with the Patriots? Let's hear what they say,
and Chris right before we go to the phones. Let's
welcome a new affiliate that has the Odd Couple show,
Fox Sports twelve ninety and one or two point nine
(18:36):
kPa kPa Y in Chico, California. The general managers Dino
Corbin and their program director Mike Baka, thank you, guys, Yes,
thank you very much being on honor to be on
your station, and we're very excited about it, no doubt
about it. Appreciate it. All right, let's kick it off
(18:56):
with Mark and Sacramento. You're on the Odd Couple Sports Radio.
What's up? Mark? What's going on? Brothers? Mark? And I
think you guys should be everywhere in the country. You
guys are great. Thank you, Thank you. I think father
is right. I'm gonna give you guys three quick reason.
Just to think about number one. He's just brown as
a social media Frankenstein and Bill Belichick is the an
(19:20):
time media. There's going to be a class there. At
some point. He's already recorded both Gruten and Tomin. I
don't think that's going to stop stop. If he Relichick,
it's gonna he's be done in two seconds. No, I
want him to record the owner, Bob Kraft. I do
think that I think I think this is going to
(19:42):
be a problem because of his his addiction to social media.
Belichick has taken some people in and he's been able
to do some good things for a year or two.
He's never dealt with a social media Frankenstein. This is
a different era, a different problem, and all coaches are
starting to deal with this. That'll check the thing to
have to deal with that. That's the first thing. The
(20:03):
second thing is what happens when he breaks out and
run the right routes, which he has known him to do.
And Tom Brady, come on, Mark, he's had an unbelievable
career on the field, Like, can you give him like
some credit that he canno? I mean, no, but break
some routes. I just come on. I'm just saying. But
I'm saying it's I think he's definitely gonna do it.
(20:24):
But tom Brady yelled that. Tom Brady's yelled at people
when they haven't done the right thing. He's had arguments
with the with the coordinator, is all I'm saying. He
took it at times from Ben. He did take it
at time he has I've seen it. Yeah, So go ahead, Mark,
what's your third point? He's done lost him. Um yeah,
(20:45):
interesting points by him. Uh we you and I said
it both, Rob that We're not gonna go ahead and
say Antonio Brown definitely has some mental issues. But if
he doesn't make this work, doesn't this something has to
be something? You know, this is kind of your last
shots play. Say you don't have to do anything else.
(21:07):
You got a contract sitting there, you got your money,
Everything is lined up for you. And you got a
great quarterback right, Uh yeah, Hall of Fame quarterback there.
You got a team that's got a chance to win
your first championship. That you don't have to be one
of these great players who never won. Everything's laying there
for you. All you have to do is play. Marty
(21:28):
in Kentucky. You're on the odd couple. Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Marty? How's it going, Fellows doing good? Happening Marty?
And after watching the game of the night, now I'm
a Steelers saying after watching the game, but without even
knowing about a B I would have said the Patriots
are the favorite to win the Super Bowl. Their defense
(21:49):
was fantastic. I enjoyed the game because it was such
good football. And as far as what Bret farther said
about they don't need him. Yeah, he can make them
better if he'll come, he'll act right and he'll run
his route. Oh yeah, they're even better. But what I
love about it, love about it all the most. Friday,
Rob was saying this a beach stuff with Oakland was over.
(22:10):
He said it was over. And then Saturday morning he's
out of Oakland and he's at Rob's most hated team,
the Patriots. And Rob's gonna have to send me some
Buffalo wings when the Patriots go to the championship game.
Oh that wasn't you said they were going to go
to the Super Bowl. Didn't you check the tape? Check
(22:30):
the tape? What you say, Marty, We'll check the tape.
Just check the tape. I believe Martin. All right, Marty,
you o rock them. We will, we will. We got
our bet in place, no problem. Hey, Logan and Nebraska,
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Logan? Hey,
how's it going? Brollas god it man? Okay, So, I
(22:52):
I honestly think for Juan Antonio, Brown's the best receiver
in the league. But I think the thing that's to
get up, not make it work. And it's kind of
the same thing that happened in Pittsburgh. What's he gonna
do when he doesn't get the credit for winning the
super Bowl because they've already won six, they've won six
(23:12):
without him. Well, if they get in the super Bowl
and he had he hacks up, they can just say, Okay,
by I don't think that's gonna be the in They'll
be fine. That means he played fifteen games when they
got to the super Bowl. That would have worked out
pretty he behaved him. So I thought you were gonna say,
if you know, he got upset when Judrew Smith Schuster
(23:35):
was the offensive MVP and or Josh Gordon has more,
you know, more targets, more catches. Okay, let's see how
he handles that. Hey, let me squeeze in tea money
from Detroit. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up? Tea money? What up? What up? What? What's happening? Man?
(23:56):
How he won of Rob's Boys? Yes, sir, Chris, I'm
good man. All right, listen, let me tell yall something.
It is a method to his madness. Okay, he's gonna
make it and it's gonna work. This was all set
up in the beginning, and I don't know why people
from the time that man listen, they tried to trade
(24:16):
for him. So from that moment, I think the Evil
Impartment went to work behind closed doors. I know what
you're saying, because they originally they made up. They offered
pittsburgher first. They wanted them. This was rated of it.
And can you really trust Josh Gordon? Can you really
trust him? You don't know that? Yeah, that that's another thing,
(24:38):
because we've already seen him fall off the wagon, haven't we. Right,
so this is a perfect pickup. And he looked. He's
been quiet on social media since he signed with the Patriots.
He ain't act up two days. My man listen with
the Raiders. He's wallowing out every day. All right, we
(24:58):
got your brother, all right, buddy. Thanks. Deshaun Watson was
on the turf all night last night on Monday Night
football versus do New Orleans Saints, and the guy leading
the charge was defensive end and team captain Ralph It
is the eye couple coming you live from the Geico
Fox Sports Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent
of more on your car insurance with Geico, go to
(25:20):
Geico dot com or call eight hundred nine four seven auto.
The only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
You heard it is the New Orleans Saints defensive end
Cam Jordan Cam, Welcome to the Hey. I appreciate you
guys having me on today. Hey man, congratulations on the
big win last night. You guys obviously played a great game.
(25:42):
Be honest with us. When DeShawn Watson throws that touchdown
with what thirty something seconds left? What what was going
through your mind? Did you think you guys will be
able to march down and get a score to win
the game. Absolutely? You know. Luckily, for me, I've been
blessed enough to play with quarterback who's proven himself time
(26:05):
and time again and I arguably as one of the
greatest quarterbacks of our era, let alone the NFL's Eram.
You've got to have faith in your quarterback. You got
have faith in your offense. I hate that it had
to had to come down to relying on on our offense,
but we have the offense to do so. I would
have loved for us to finish out the whole defense
(26:26):
defensive effort instead of tooting you know, them scoring in
seventeen seconds over two plays. Would have loved made that
stop and you know, not even had to rely on
the office like that. So so Drew Brees is good
to go. At the end of last year, you remember
he's having a MVP season, and then there was that
bad Dallas game and in the second half, people start
(26:46):
to say, as Drew, all right, is he getting too old?
Is Drew gonna be good to go the whole year?
And then of course the Saints go deep into the
playoffs and you know, beat the first team we play
and then end up losing to the Rams, and they'll say, oh,
is Drew gonna be able to make two Super Bowl
I'm not here for the what if. I'm here for
the what we have, and we have is Drew being
(27:07):
a leader on our offense and being able to make
all the throws, being able to read defenses, and being
able to be one of the greatest to ever do it.
So I'm not here for all these nace areas. I'm
here for what we can bring to the table. And
what we can bring to the table is this high intensity,
high octane offense with the same mindset on defense, and
we have to be able to match that. I mean,
you look at one hundred and eighty yards on the ground.
(27:28):
If we eliminate half of those yards, half of those
yards come off for five plays. We take five plays
away from a sixty three place script. That's something that
we can do. That's something that's we're in control of.
Can we go ahead? Roun? Yeah? I just want to
throw one more thing? Are you guys? I know, I
know the last two postseasons have not ended well for you,
And of course the call as the team over that
(27:49):
I know was a court case and the city was
upset and all kinds of stuff. Have you guys gotten
over that and have moved forward and forgotten last year's
call by the officials. You can't forget last year. You
can't forget the last few years. Which can do is
assume responsibility. So we've done in our locker room. We've
(28:09):
understood that it's on us. We've understood that we were
up by you know, two touchdowns of that Rams game,
and you know, there's things we could have done to
seal it away. We hate that it came down the
way it did, and of course the leagues of the
league has implemented new rules to accommodate what happened in
our game. But that's something that we can't rely upon.
We got to rely upon what we have in our
locker room where we take the field with the eleven
(28:31):
men who take on offense defense and eleven men who
take the field room hit special teams. These are things
that we can't rely on. What our accountability has to
rely on is us to eliminate the mistakes and focus
on the minor details to get us through those tough games.
Cam Jordan of the New Orleans Saints joining the I couple. Cam,
you guys got to Deshaun Watson a lot last night.
(28:51):
Six sacks, you had one of them. But how good
is he? You know, there's a lot of talk about him,
you know, being among the elite in that kind of
next generation of great quarterbacks to come up. How how
good is he? You've played against all the great ones
in the league right now. How does he compare and
what different things does he throw at you that make
him unique? Yeah? No, the man can be special. Um
(29:15):
I would say there's there's definitely a time where I
started inside and I smacked his arm, he still dropped
the dime of a pass. I'm talking about he didn't
even get through his progression. Um. I mean the way
he's able to see the field, Uh, not only to
escape the pocket, but just his downfield vision. Um, he's
always looking to extend to play. And I mean that's
Cameron cam Newton esque. Um, and that that's going to
(29:38):
pose problems for years to come. How about the NFC
as a whole? Has it gotten stronger this year? It's
always a lot of good teams, but um, when you
when you look at the landscape, obviously you expect to
be there. But what about the rest of the NFC,
the Bears, the Packers, Aaron Rodgers's back. Do you look
(30:00):
at the NFC as a tough road? Yeah, I mean
all of it. Um, you know, I can't even I
haven't really looked out beyond what we had in focuses
because we were the last game. It's now like I
sat down Sunday and was able to watch a little
bit of some games where we were still working. But
you see what you know, the Packers and Chicago were
(30:20):
at it, you know, ten to three game like that
to start off the season. Um, you see how challenged
the Bears defense is. You see, you know, Aaron Rodgers
looking like you're back in top four. Um, and you
go along just the entire NFC and you got Dallas
and Dad had a big day. You know, the Cowboys
are in full effect, no doubt. And of course you've
(30:41):
got the Rams who who who are looking efficient as usual? Um. Yeah,
it's looking like NFC is going to be a powerhouse
to meddle with. Cam. You mentioned the Rams and that's
your next opponent. You got them next week. Is that
game going to be more emotional than your typical game?
And do you have to fight to make sure you
(31:01):
just stay on an even kill and don't get too
high for it, or what's the approach with a big
game like that coming off what happened last year in
the playoffs? Yeah, I mean that's a whole different locker room.
This is this is a different locker room field. These
are another training camp between us where our defense has
been able to grow and if it's up to us,
(31:21):
it's all about how we're able to push through. Um.
Now we've taken in this one old uh situation for
a week one ahead in the week two, we have
to be able to focus on the minor details we
can't let you know Brandon Cooks get off. You can't
let Todd Gurley get off. You have to be able
to focus and hit Jared Goffers many times responsible. They've
(31:42):
got two veteran tackles that have have been a mainstay
for their offense to blind um. These are these are
two anchors that we have to be able to get
after all, right, Cam Jordan from the New Orleans Saints
defensive end. Cam, thanks a lot for joining the eye
couple man. Good luck next week and the rest of
the game, no doubt. Thank you, Hey, I much appreciate
(32:03):
thanks for having me on. Guys. One week is in
the book, so you know what that means. Time for
Parker's NFL Power rankings, and I think I can say
with confidence that Jacksonville Jaguars will not be in at thisition.
I tell you every week, I tried to tell you
I'm off that wagon. And what happened? Did I tell you?
(32:25):
I told you, Chris, it ain't the same squad. I'm
done with the Sea. Well, now they got their quarterback.
Who was gonna, you know, come in and defensive that
good either. I told you that. I'll tell you one
thing you won't believe. Who's at the top of my
list in the power rankings. All right, there it is.
(32:46):
That's coming up next. I Couple. Fox Sports Radio. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with
Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern
four pm Pacific. At Farmer's Insurance, we know there's a
crucial difference between a kick drum pedal and your car's
accelerator pedal because at Farmers we've seen and covered it.
(33:07):
Were under written. My Farmers took fire insurance exchanges and
affiliates products unavailable in every state. All right, it's a
DJ Alex Tysher Tuesday, and we'll be coming in with
some of his original beats on these breaks. Is this you?
There's actually a rimac of a gritz song. I like
grilly grits. I like that beat and beat is hot.
(33:28):
All right, here we go, some butter and salt and
pepper on those grits. It's time for Parker's NFL Power Ranking.
Do you need the power? Well hearing? It's Parker's Power Rankings,
(33:49):
always starting with number five, number five, that's right. The
Kansas City Chiefs don't buy into that. Forty to twenty
six win over Jacksonville. Jacksonville's awful defensively, and they lost
their quarterback in the first quarter. That's not even shouldn't
(34:12):
even count as wow, that doesn't that's a false narrative
there thinking that the Chiefs did something special. They still
gave up twenty six points after they lost their quarterbacks.
So they are number five, number four, that's right, number
four wins in a lifetime. So he's back, Carson wins.
Did you see that they were down to the Redskins
(34:34):
early on? It looked like it was gonna be a disaster.
They were gonna lose at home, and he came charging back.
If you're an Eagles fan, you gotta feel great about
where the Eagles are and where Carson Wentz is. Yet
three touchdowns and no picks. Number three, number three, the
(34:56):
New England Patriots, they were gonna be number one, number
one playing. When you say we're gonna be shocked, I
thought you might know you come not that crazy again.
They're playing the awful Pittsburgh Steelers. They have they're missing
a B, they're missing Lea Beyon Bell. They think that
(35:19):
team is gonna be the same. They gave everybody a
false narrative. Oh, it's addition by subtraction. No it's not.
They look terrible and Big Ben looks terrible. Number two
the Minnesota Vikings. Wow, wow, my god. That was a while.
And if their defense can continue to play well remember
(35:41):
last year and they got their quarterback. You know what.
The Vikings went and did something that I did not
think they would do against the Falcons. And I like
where they are. I gotta guess who's number one? Number one,
number one. You're that song. Don't leave the hype, believe
the hype. The Green Bay Packers. We have defense. They
(36:07):
have a defense. The Green Bay Packers went into Chicago
and gave up a three spot. That was it. That
is incredible. And let's be honest. They fixed the defense
in the off sea season. They boasted it with trades
they picked up in in the draft, they spent money
(36:27):
on free agents. This is not a fluke. They fixed
the defense. And Aaron Rodgers said it, Hey, we got
a defense. I'm buying it. They are the number one
team in my power. If you want to crown them,
they crowned the ass. That's right. You cannot come in now,
yes you can. I Rob Parker, why I see that
(36:48):
you did not gain an iota of logic in the
off season. My goodness, one, this list is a trocihit.
I ain't paying you Poopoo Kansas City beating Jacksonville, but
you praised Philadelphia for beating Washington. They were down big
(37:12):
in that game. How in the world are you down
big to the hopless Washington Redskins. But the point is
they came back, and they came charging as they gave
up three hundred and eighty yards to case Kingom. I'm
worried about Carson Wentz and he proved that he could
(37:33):
bounce back and play well. And if you're looking at
the Eagles, that's the thing that you wanted to see.
You didn't want to see him struggle in Game one
at home against a bad struggled, but he came back.
He came back in a big way in the second
half that needed to I didn't you Poopoo beating Pittsburgh.
Pitchburg's terrible? Did you see that? Washington isn't Pittsburgh's not
(37:56):
gonna make the playoffs? They weren't Haarrison. At least you
gonna give Green Bay all that love for holding Mitch
Traubisky and cruel. I'm in I'm in love with green
Bay all week, you glove, I'm in love with green
Bay ever since Sunday. So yesterday's show, all you've been
(38:19):
talking about Doe be a prisoner of the moment, and
here you go one game and you're ready to say
green Bay's got the best defense in the league. You're
a prisoner of the moment, Rob Parker, can they prove
it a little bit more? I'm in heck, let me
be a prisoner of the moment and say Aaron Rodgers
(38:40):
it's done because he didn't look good on last Thursday night?
Would you stop? This is my power rankings. Don't be jealous.
I get the critique. Coal, don't be jelly jelly. Yeah,
you jelly on my power ranking because mine is in
a cookie cutter. Alex knows this. You've been all right
about Alex. You know how Alex? You know I don't
(39:02):
just follow the pack, right, That's where all those people follow,
right off the cliff. Every time you're on the other side.
I'm on the other side. At three and seven, they
were still in your top five. They were doing special things.
But I'll tell you this, I mean Rob's five and
oh right now too. Hey, I should have been a No,
don't worry about it, Chris. I was five and you
(39:22):
know you're not coming from me. And let me tell
you this week I already got some good ones. I
should have been eight. No, the lion screwed me. You
hear that you want to put a wing beat on this? Uh?
Peeks came off. Let's do it all right, No, let's
do it on this week. How about this week? Na? Na?
The whole season, the whole season. Last year you got lucky.
(39:45):
You were like, it should be something more special. You
are a novice and just a typical No. You know,
Chris came in and I shocked you not I only
knew NBA. You know, Chris is like the It's like
the woman who works in your office who picks the final,
the March Madness Final four. She does she likes the mascots.
You said that like six times and it doesn't get
(40:08):
any funny money every time. A time. My daughter was funny.
That was pretty good. You gave him that dj TI shirt.
That was pretty good. You know I'm coming right, I'm
coming hard and I'm about to go on a roll.
What was it a sixteen seventeen and two run lash.
Oh my goodness, we still take control about that. I'm
(40:30):
just saying I actually you know what I feel like.
I feel like some same music. Yeah, he is here,

bottom of the hour in less than thirty minutes. He's
the NFL Network analyst and former GM in the league,
so he'll be a lot of fun to talk to
as he always is. So definitely keep it locked for that,
but we're going to for the moment leave the NFL
and go to the NBA because the Wall Street Journal
(41:55):
magazine did a great story that came out today on
ke Even Durant, and they got a lot of good access.
Was a really good story, well written, well done, and
Katie dropped some bombs in their robe. And one of
the things he said was this that's got getting a
lot of attention. He said, some days I hate the
(42:19):
circus of the NBA. Some days I hate that the
players let the NBA business, the fame that comes with
the business, alter their minds about the game. Sometimes I
don't like being around the executives and the politics that
come with it. I hate that. Rob Parker, what do
(42:42):
you think about that comment by Kevin Durant. I just
don't understand it. Kevin Durant is a great basketball player,
he's ultra sensitive. He acts like what he's experiencing is
something brand new and is I don't understand what you expect,
(43:04):
Chris when you sign a deal for millions of dollars
when your whole existence hundreds of millions, hundreds of millions,
but your whole existence, Chris is about fans and people
and advertisers and spots. That's where your existence is about.
So you can't art. You can't be mad at it.
(43:25):
Go work at the post office and nobody will be
bothering you other than about their mail. You can't have
it both ways. You sell sneakers with your name on it,
you tweet, you want people to go buy your merchandise,
but you can't stand the people. You love basketball. You
(43:47):
want to play basketball for millions of dollars if you
only want to play and you don't want to deal
with the other stuff, playing the gym by yourself or
with your friends, don't play in the league. Don't play
in the crowd, Chris with twenty thousand people in the stands.
I don't get it. You can't have it both ways.
(44:08):
That's what you signed up for. Hello, is this on?
You know what you signed up for? The circus? They
charge money for the circus. Yes, you know, Rob. I
couldn't have said it any better. I mean, seriously, And
I'll give kd this when you're what eighteen years old?
(44:32):
I guess nineteen because he played one year at Texas,
So you're nineteen years old now. Yeah, as a kid
growing up, you're dreaming of, you know, playing in front
of tens of thousands of fans, and dreaming of, you know,
even doing an interview right at the end of a
game and you make a shot, dream of being on
ESPN or Fox or you know, doing this big interview.
(44:55):
So you dream a little bit about the circus. But
I understand that a nineteen year old kid doesn't know
what he's stepping into. That's what I'll give KD. However,
you are right on the money. And it's not just
basketball players or athletes, anyone with a job in the
(45:20):
public realm, which means Chris Broussard has to do the
same exact thing. Now we don't want a smaller scale.
But still KD gets it. But I get criticized. You
get criticized every day. Fred Stephen A. Smith gets criticized.
Look at the politicians, no matter how much you like
(45:40):
or dislike Donald Trump, every day getting demolished every single day.
President Obama, God didn't mind every day, single day. They
didn't want to believe that he was even born in
the country. Yeah where he was born. I mean, stop it.
And it's entertainers, it's lawmakers, anyone in the public realm, anyone. Now,
(46:06):
Kevin Durant happens to be one of the best five
basketball players in the world and one of the best
fifteen or twenty we've ever seen. And so yeah, he's
you're When you're at that ultra elite level, this comes
with it. And this is what I say to the
athletes that I've said this to Durant on you know,
putting it out about some of the stuff he said.
(46:27):
I put it out on social media. Athletes have to
understand I've actually said this to him in some of
our DM conversation number right right, So I couldn't text
him but DM. But if it weren't for the media,
then you wouldn't be able to make the tens and
(46:50):
hundreds of millions of dollars that you make. Because the
media televises your games. The media, with these talk shows
on television or radio, make you larger than life. We
talk about these games, we bring the storylines, we bring
the drama. To some extent, I'm not I'm not diminishing
(47:14):
how great the athletes are because we need them. We
need them to talk about, to write about, to praise,
to detract from whatever it is. So we need them too.
But if they're not on television, if they're not written
about in the newspaper, if they're not put on the radio,
(47:35):
and people aren't talking about them all the time, then
guess what. The multi millions of dollars aren't going to
be there for you. And so the athletes need to
understand that and really look at it like I'm going
to use these guys to benefit myself. And then the
(47:58):
other part to Chris, we talked about being around the
executives and the notion about as politics are in every
facet of life when you deal with people, Chris, you notice,
even in the church, there are politics because there are people.
(48:19):
It has nothing to do with what job you have.
Whenever there are people involved, there are politics at the
office politics that it just comes with life. I don't
I don't know any poor job that you worked at, Chris.
When you were at Fox's politics, when you at ESPN's politics,
when you work to the New York Times its politics, Yes,
(48:40):
beat writer, when you're he seens trying to get sources
and trying to break stories, there's politics, right. How come
you gave it to him? You know this blah blah
all that this is what I don't I'm just when
guys come off with this stuff, I don't get it.
It's like they're brand new. I don't get it. Yeah,
you're right. I mean, how many people don't like or
(49:02):
getting nervous or whatever or maybe uncomfortable about talking to
some of their supervisors or the executives that are at
ranked higher than this in any job, any job, and
you know you have to be on your p's and
q's and you know what I mean, and on your
best behavior or whatever, dress a certain way to go
(49:23):
into this meeting or that meeting. I mean, that's just
like you said, it's life. It is, it's life. And
he is so sensitive and I don't man, he's got
a great life, Chris, And I don't get it. I
remember that guy when he got the MVP award and
he thanked his mom and he cried like a baby.
I said, man, that's pretty impressive. I was impressed during
(49:48):
that time, and he's changed a lot since then. He
also made an interesting statement in the story, and I
would I would recommend that everybody listen, including you, Rob.
If you haven't read I think you did read it.
Um go there and read this story. But he also
addresses that Rob that you know, he tires of everybody
(50:12):
asking about wondering if he's happy. You know, he gets tireder.
And I've said it myself, like I've talked about his addiction,
if you will, to social media. I'm gonna call it that.
He probably wouldn't, but whatever, love of social media and
feeling compelled to have to to comment. And I've said, look,
(50:35):
I just wonder if he can, if he if he
can be happy reading all the criticism and you know,
being on it all as much as he is, and
maybe he can be you know. But my point is
I will say this about him, even though we can
call him sensitive, I gotta give him credit in that
(50:57):
he is not. He does not let whatever whether anger, embarrassment, uh,
whatever criticism he's getting from social media or regular media,
he doesn't let it impact this game. You and I
in New York, and we know there are athletes that
go to New York and can't perform to the best
(51:18):
of their ability under the New York media. About it, right,
and and Katie, I know he hadn't been in New
York and he will be in Brooklyn, but the media
is a little different. It's almost New York everywhere now,
I know New York is still a little bit more.
It's just it's just because you have more more people internet,
you know, sensationalism has gotten everywhere now everything It's not
(51:44):
like before. So he's gotten some intense coverage obviously, and
he is able to go out and still play at
the top of his game. So I give him that.
And but he is. You can't say he's not sensitive.
I remember last year we talked about is he sensitive
or is he gangster? Two months ago I remember and
and and he would say he's gangster because if you
(52:04):
go at me, I'm going back at you, whether you're
media whoever. But the fact that you had the Burner
account and maybe accounts that can't be gangs, right, because
you would try that sensitive and let people know that,
try to act like it wasn't you when it was. Right.
If you're like bigg and bad, you want to catch
us out and say it's me and you know what
(52:26):
I mean, that's what you would do, right right. So um,
interesting story though. He also went in rob on uh
Oklahoma City and uh, you know, he's spoken favorably of
Oklahoma City since he left. But he had a strong
quote he said, uh, you know, he said, I'm just
(52:47):
gonna read to both quotes such a venomous, toxic feeling
when I walked into that arena, being in Oklahoma City
when he was with the Warriors, and just the organization,
the trainers and equipment managers. Those dude is pissed off
at me. Ain't talking to me. I'm like, Yo, this
is where we're going with this because I left the
team and went to play with another team. Then he says,
(53:09):
I'll never be attached to that city again because of that.
I eventually wanted to come back to that city and
be part of that community and organization. But I don't
trust nobody there. That issue or expative must have been
fake what they was doing. The organization, the GM, I
ain't talked to, none of those people even had a
(53:31):
nice exchange with those people since I left. He sounds
so childish. Man sounds childish to me from this stamnpoint.
He doesn't understand that he walked out on them and
that people. How would you feel. I'm just and the
thing he's talking about, he's talking about coming back to
the community. You're not Lebron like you're from there. He's
(53:53):
not from there. Which is interesting that right would have
went to you know, at least he says here and
he said it before he was thinking of settling in
Oklahomaker's career. Does that make any sense? Well, he had
the restaurant. I actually went there several times that Kevin
Durant KDS. I think it was. How was that play?
It was good. It was a soul food restaurant, sports
bar was a expense, it was his mind's recipes. No,
(54:15):
it was no, but it was good. It was a
nice atmosphere. And you know, they trashed it when uh
after he made his announcement. Yeah, I don't know how badly,
but it was. It was. It was some stuff they
did to it. But uh, yeah, I get what you're saying.
I'm just saying I don't. I don't understand that he
would think that people you know, like you walk out
(54:37):
on an organization and you could call them whatever you want,
that's just your right. But he did leave, okay, And
the bottom line is people are supposed to welcome you back,
and you didn't win anything there. If you want a
championship somewhere, Chris, it's a lot easier to come back.
People feel like same thing, when Kawhi goes to Toronto,
they're not gonna boo him. No, do you see what
(54:58):
I'm saying? Like if KD won a championship in OKC
and that move door, you'll still cheer him for that
great moment. Oh. And I think this is also and
I'm not trying to turn this into less praise Lebron.
And because Lebron's got his things too with the media,
the passive aggressiveness, some of the cryptic tweets and all that,
you know, and so he's not perfect, but he I mean, heck,
(55:20):
he's even in more in the spotlight than KD. And
he does handle it well for the most part. He
really does. He doesn't let the scrutiny, the criticism and
all of that get to him. And I think he's
you know, he is knowing who you are and what
type of person you are in the playoffs, he turns
it off, you know, And so he does a good
(55:43):
job of that. But it's interesting stuff, I mean, very
very good article by the Wall Street Journal. So again
I would say go ahead and check it out. All right,
let's throw it out to you guys. Eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. What do you think, does Kevin
Durant have some fair points or is he just in
too sensitive wagh in At eight seven seven ninety nine

(57:06):
I don't know about you sure. I think we need

Let's get to the car. Let's do that. All right.
Let's start off with Craig and Cincinnati. You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio and the Natty. What's up?
What's up? Robin? Chris? Are you happening? Man? Love you guys.
(57:27):
You guys are awesome. I got an invitation for you
real quick. This is this is Rob talking to Chris. Yo,
come on, Chris, come on. And then and then Chris
like Rob, that's Bell. I'm just playing real quick, all right.
(57:47):
This is this is the second time I called. The
first time was literally about a year ago when Levi
Bell was deciding to not play the whole season. And
it was similar to what you're talking about with Durant,
and you were talking about the media and expectations and
things like that and what I played college football myself,
(58:08):
and you know, I didn't I didn't make it to
the NFL or anything like that, but I had a
little bit of media interaction and I was, you know,
up to twenty two years old when I played. And
what I mean, Kevin Durant, I don't remember how old
he is, But the national media is like thirty five
years old and older, and they've already gone through a
lot of life, you know what I mean. They've already
(58:29):
hit adversity and things like that. And these players are
making millions of dollars coming out of nowhere, and they've
had these expectations of their life that this is what
they're gonna do. So when they make it and they
get they make their expectations of playing ball and they
haven't even restart expectations yet. So someone like me who
(58:52):
played college football and I could never even dream to
play an NFL, and if I had made it, I
would have been so happy that no matter what anybody
said to me, I wouldn't care. Well, But Craig, the
only problem and thanks for the car. We appreciate your support,
is it's easier to say that once you're when you're
not in it. Once you guys, once you've made one
hundred and fifty million dollars, things change, Prior people change.
(59:14):
You could say whatever you want, Oh, I would just
be happy to play for five hundred thousand. No, you
wouldn't not if you were in that spot. And I
think that's the part people don't get Chris. Things have
changed from the standpoint that this is the same thing
with a B. And I'm not making an excuse, but
once you've made eighty million dollars, it's hard for anybody
to tell you anything. I'm serious, you know what I mean.
(59:36):
And that's and that's what happens to people. Did it. Look,
I get it. There are some challenges that come with
being in the spotlight, but the friends benefits and the benefits,
no question, no doubt. Austin in Kentucky, You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Austin? Hey, guys,
(59:58):
I just want to say you love talk you guys. Man,
love calling in love hearing your show man. What I
will say, Um, I think Kevin Durant he kind of
did almost deserve everything. I mean you he did the
ultimate no no. He went to the enemy. It's you know,
kind of like Jordan going to the Bad Boys or
Kobe Celtics. That was just a no no. Um. So,
I mean other than trash in the restaurant, that was crap.
(01:00:19):
But I think he deserves everything that he got. On
the other hand, UM, I do think, you know, I
think players should be allowed to say in essence, what
they want back. Um, you know they kind of played
the big bad wolf or they run their mouth, run
their mouth, and then you see somebody like uh westwiok
and Utah when he when they say something back, and
now all of a sudden, everybody's all scared and stuff.
Uh if say what you wanted as a fan or whatever,
(01:00:42):
you know, you talk or crap, I guess. But um,
when they give it back, man, don't be surprised. And
I don't think they at all should be penalized for it. No,
that's where Durant is unusual, and that he goes back
for the most part. If that's not good, that's not
That's not what the leagues want. You don't You don't
want your players well with the limits. Yeah, not not
(01:01:02):
attacking them or cursing them out or something like that.
But in the media, you know, right all right? Uh
Edward in Omaha, you're in the odd couple of five
sports radio? What's up? Edward? Thank you? I actually I
agree with Kevin, especially when it came to the media.
He might still be a little mad. After the whole
(01:01:23):
Warriors might are better off without him or having to
deal with the Is it Katie's or Steph's team. But
so I get how you know, he love hate relationship
with the team or with the media. I like how
he called out other players or how they games change
once they get famous or get money. You can say
you can look at Dwight Howard or Carmelo Anthony about that.
(01:01:45):
The other thing, I think it's really interesting, especially with
Anthony David's going back to New Orleans. I think he's
going to get the same treatment Kevin Durant did from
the team after he put in all that work, and
then when he goes back, he's gonna get all that
hate and he's gonna be like Kevin d be like,
but you know, I did all that funny, but he
put him through some stuff that Duran didn't, right, what
(01:02:06):
what he did the whole season last Yeah, and he didn't.
I mean, even though Duran didn't win a championship with Okaysey,
they were a perennial power and you know, and got
to the finals at least once. So, James in Texas,
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, James? Hey,
how you guys doing man doings happening? Man? Um, It's
(01:02:30):
just strange to me. I don't know what Katie gets
out of these things. Right. Um, he says he just
wants to play basketball, YadA, YadA, y'all. But at the
end of the day, this is his career. So there's
going to be things about your career you don't like.
I'm sure coach Kurr loves his job, but he doesn't
like dealing with your sensitivity, Draymond's attitudes eyes oporture, you're
tripping folks like. There's things about your job you're not
(01:02:52):
gonna like. So I'm not sure what he gets out
of saying these things. You know. No, that's that's a
good point. I don't bet it either, right, negatives about
every single job, no doubt about it. All Right, We
are brought to you by Truecar, the eye couple that is.
In car shopping can be confusing terms like dealer price, list, price,
(01:03:12):
and invoice. Truecar shows you what other people pay for
the car you want. That way, you can recognize a
good price from a bad one. So when you're ready
to buy a new or even a used car, make
sure you visit Truecar and enjoy a more confident car
buying experience. All right, A man who knows what it's
like to run an NFL team. Our guy, Charlie Casserley,
(01:03:32):
will weigh in on everything from the ab drama to
what the Cowboys will do with Dak. He's next, but first,
thank you, Ralph. It is the Eye Couple coming to
you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's
easy to say fifteen percent more on your car and
trumans with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or call
eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The only hard part
is figuring out which way is easier. We love having
(01:03:55):
our next guests on the show. He's a former NFL
general manager now an analyst for the NFL Network and
Fly Cassidy. Yes, the knowledgeable and feisty Charlie. Yes, Charlie,
Welcome to the AKA. What's happening? Hey Felix, and Hey Felix,
And you got it backwards though, Charlie, he's Felix. Charlie. Look,
(01:04:21):
you were a GM in this league, how would you
deal with a guy like Antonio Brown? Well, I wouldn't
have signed him. That's number one. You'd have to have
a special team to want to sign him, and he'd
have to be sure he wanted to be with you,
and he'd have to structure a contract that once if
he got rid of him, it wouldn't hurt you. So
New England probably has done most of those things. But
(01:04:45):
I honestly I think that now and knowing more about
it than I did say on Friday and Saturday, I
think Oakland probably did the best they could. They figured
out in this thing. The guy didn't want to be there,
and the guy was going on strike and doing this
all on purpose. So basically what you do in that
situation do what they do. You find him, you get
yourself a paper trail on everything, and then when he
(01:05:10):
comes to the point of releasing him, uh, now you
can file a contract detrimental and at that point you
should be able to recoup your money. In the real world,
the Raiders would be suing this guy. Okay, if this
guy sues the Raiders with a grievance, then then that's
just morally wrong. He didn't want to be there, he
(01:05:31):
forced his way out, and of course the Raiders a
couple of draft choices, so you know, he got what
he wanted and then we'll see what it will see
when he goes to England. Now, Charlie, you said you
wouldn't sign him, but the talent always wins out. And
if it was in New England, there were three other
teams that were there that were interested, including Seattle, which
(01:05:52):
admitted they were into running. Also, it was Cleveland and
was interested, and so was New Orleans. So you said
you one side, and why were these other teams interested
in him as a talent. The guy can't imagine the
Cleveland receiving them with him. I'm just saying that a report.
That's just a report, Okay, but no, I know I'm
(01:06:13):
saying before it's probably accurate um to me. If you've
got a building team and they'll try to build a culture,
this is not the guy you want on your team,
not at all. He's a negative guy if you have
any kind of rules. I don't know if the guy
the guy all of bye by ing the guy's guy creatability.
But it's a little bit like it works when you're
Dennis rod been going to the Bulls with championships after
(01:06:36):
the championship and Michael Jordan runs the team. And I'm
not taking anyways from Phil Jackson. Michael Jordan's go run
that locker him, right, Okay, Phil Jackson's gonna lead the team.
So you know, those kinds of situations work sometimes on
a short term basis. Rainy Morris, you cut a salary
by nine million dollars. Yeah, he's going to go out
and play hard for you for a year and eventually
you end up firing. So it's a short term thing,
(01:06:58):
so kind it depends where your team is his at
championship teams can take this guy, but they also can
fire him too. If you get too many guys like him,
he'll kill your locker room, So you locker room. Yeah,
I was gonna ask you your gut feeling is do
you think it will work in New England at least
for a year. Boy, I don't know, you know, trying
(01:07:23):
to separate fact from fiction. He is hard and I
always say fiction because how much of his behavior in
Oakland was really him or contrived to get out. It
sounds like in Pittsburgh they just had enough and finally
got rid of him. But he went a long time there,
and people tell me the last couple of years you
(01:07:43):
just started to get worse. So I'm not sure the
behavior that he executed at the end in Pittsburgh and
all through Oakland you wouldn't want this guy, now, can
you believe him? So for you, we'll find out he Charlie,
everybody knows. How about the Green Bay Packers defense. I'm
excited about it from the standpoint that that's been there
(01:08:06):
bugaboo for a long time. They actually went out and
signed some people, spend some money, made some draft picks
defensively to boost it, and then they go to Chicago
the first game of the year, only give up three points,
get a big win, get an interception at the end
of the game to win the game. Defensively, what do
you make of their defense? I think you hit on
(01:08:27):
a lot of points so good at Constigan. There's an
infill in general of drafting and putting together on some pieces,
and it may have all come together at one time.
Make the secondary one's younger a year ago, and you
know you had to live through that, and then now
they're better because of that. I think getting Savage in
(01:08:47):
the first round, you know, that was a gutsy thick
because that was probably higher than some people had him rating.
But you know he started in the first game and
the appeared to do a good job, just you know,
from what I could see. So He's an athletic guy
that to do a lot of different things for you. So, um,
you know Zarius Smith as a guy that can help
you as an inside guy. Maybe on so much outside,
but he can help the inside. Um. They overpaid for
(01:09:10):
him in Preston Smith that's had a free agency, overpaid
for everybody. At least you saw a plan there. Yeah,
and that's what I liked about him. And it varied
from draft choices to trading to get an extra one
to free agency. We're joined by NFL Network analyst former
NFL GM Charlie Castley. Right here on the I couple
(01:09:32):
uh Odell Beckham Junior in Cleveland. Now, he wore the
watch in the first never seen that. Have you ever
seen a player wear a watch or game want to
wear a watch? You know they got a clock in
the school board. I don't think, okay, I think it's
I think it shows the priorities off. What do you
(01:09:53):
think is that fair or yeah? I don't know. I
mean when when Belichi's players wearing watches and then I'll
say it's okay, I don't feel wearing a watch her.
And again, you know, I think the Cleveland would be interesting.
I think it was eighteen kind of peas in the game. Yeah,
and you know, Freddy Kitchens was the offensive coordinator, he
(01:10:14):
wasn't coach. Fret Williams was the head coach. And Greg
Williams I want to do with him turning that thing around.
Freddy Kitchen did a nice job connecting with Mayfield. So
now this is all new for him. So um, and
you know Beckham can be a different sort. So you know, hey,
maybe if he doesn't care if he does the watch,
he doesn't wear a watch. I guess the league cares though,
(01:10:35):
but but surely why why would it? How did he
play a whole game? We're a watch on and nobody
saw it. The officials didn't see it, The other team
didn't see it. To point it out, how did that
even happen for a whole game? They got all these
officials and cameras and everything on the field and they
(01:10:55):
didn't see that he had a watch on. And will
he wear it this week or will tell him that
he can't wear it? Yeah? I don't know what the
league's position is going to be on that. To be
honest with you, I thought it was that you can't
wear watching. Okay, that's my oppression right when I was
under competition. For me. I'm sure if they asked us,
we would say, no, you don't wear watches during the
(01:11:16):
course of the game. Okay, you don't wear it's crazy. Yeah, yeah,
So you know, clearly people in Cleveland didn't care. I mean,
I didn't know. He had to watch us on the sidelines,
he's talking to him, and I don't know whether the
officials just didn't think it was an issue or what.
But I don't know how they wouldn't see it. Now again,
I didn't see the home over the game, so you
(01:11:36):
know it was the watch covered. I don't know, so
I haven't seen a picture of it. Well, it wasn't covered,
but Charlie. Another star, maybe the biggest star of the
weekend was Lamar Jackson. Are you did you see enough?
I know Miami is a mess, but to convince you
that this guy, you know, it's gonna be yeah, I
know he's not gonna do that every week, but that
(01:11:57):
he's going to play well enough to be, you know,
an above average quarterback and what they need to get
into the playoffs and maybe go deep. When I was
visiting the camp, the thing that they expressed to me
was the fundamental work they did in the offseason about
you know, being balanced. They ken't use the word balanced, balance,
balance when he throned the football. When I watched them
(01:12:20):
in preseason and he didn't play much in pre season,
I saw a very good footwork on him. He was balanced,
He wasn't throwing up on his toes, he was stuck
into the target. So all I improved his accuracy. You
got to throw this Miami's thing album. My Miami might
be the worst team that we've seen in a long
time and the history of football, but it's going to
(01:12:41):
be ugly down there. So I mean, over sixteen, you've
got to start thinking that right now. Uh, Baltimore scold,
But you put out fifty nine points on somebody in
professional football or forty two and a half, so that's
really the more real number because you don't know what
they eat in the second half. So again, I think
we're gonna wait and see. But I really like what
(01:13:03):
I saw up when I was there in camp and
what I saw him so far as far as the
footwork and the fundamentals, that's when's really improved upon. Hey,
real quick, U thirty seconds. I just want to ask
you the report that came out that players after that
game the Dolphins were calling their ages to say, dude,
(01:13:24):
I gotta get out of here. Get can you get
me out of here? Do you do you think that happened? Well,
let me tell you a story here. I get a
call on a Sunday night telling me that story from
the quote a player in the locker room. Okay, but
he wouldn't give me his name and I can't trace
the phone number, so I don't know, okay, okay. So
(01:13:50):
I don't repeat those sources for anything that needs anything.
So I don't know because I see a problem in
the locker room. Yeah, you know that's not going to
go over with them, because the players are trying to win,
and they're gonna said, hey, none, they players don't understand
three graph places. You know, they're trying to win. They're
trying to save their jobs. So they made a lot
(01:14:11):
of moves that, you know, a little bit of a
head scratch for in a certain situation. Some players they
cut played well in preseason and they replaced them with
other players. So I believe in Brian Flourish, and I
believe in in Chris clefvean Um, and you know they're
gonna get a chance to get a great cornerback and builtimate.
It's Cleveland, man, this is what it is. Just gonna
be Cleveland, all right, He's Charlie. Hopefully it will come
(01:14:33):
out on a good end like Cleveland life. Charlie Casser
League NFL Network analysts, former league GM. Thanks a lot
for joining us, Charlie. We'll talk to you soon, all right.
Do you guys have a clock in your room or
do you have to wear watches? We have a clock,
but uh, well saying we definitely get your point. All right, Charlie,
(01:14:57):
see you all right. We're gonna go to Ralph urv
and for some breaking news Ralph breaking news from Fox Sports.
The story that will never end. The New York Times
is reporting that Patriots receiver Antonio Brand has been accused
of raping his former trainer, according to a federal lawsuit
filed Tuesday in the Southern District of Florida. The lawsuit
(01:15:19):
says that from three separate incidents, two in twenty seventeen
and another in twenty eighteen, that he sexually assaulted woman
he later he had hired as his trainer. Wow. These
stories just just wow. I'm boggling. Well, I mean this no,
I mean you can't like, you can't go crazy on this.
You just don't know yet. But but it's interesting that
(01:15:41):
this was filed Tuesday when obviously there's a lot out
there about this gentleman's future. Oh yeah, yeah, it's uh,
it's interesting. Wow. Oh you got to play it through
the courts. Uh, you know what I mean, it's got
to go to the courts and everything. People shouldn't be
so quick to automatically say tap, we don't know that
(01:16:02):
that's a lawsuit. People get hit with lawsuits all the time.
Total play and so far. All right, Well, thank you, Ralph.

much you could save. Well, Rob, all I can say
is and we certainly are going to abide by the
(01:17:03):
innocent until proving guilty. Let's not jump off right off
the far end, because you never know. You got to
be real good. You just hope these allegations aren't true
exactly because for I mean, and what he's done, we
said it Friday, and all this stuff he did in Oakland,
(01:17:26):
it was not as bad as some stuff that guys
have done in the league. We talk about death U.
But as much as we've talked about ab and marveled
at his behavior, mocked it whatever you want, you know,
just been baffled by it. This would just if it
(01:17:50):
were true, would really put an ugly bowl around this
whole thing. So I hope it's not. I mean, I
think everybody hopes it's not true, right, And you just
don't know yet. And I was reading some of the
story that from TMZ. They've known each other Chris since
since they were at Central Michigan. It's not like, yeah,
(01:18:11):
they've known each other like for a long time. So
I don't, I you know, I don't know what to
make of it, do you know what I mean? Like, yeah,
and you hate to go out on either because I
don't know, right, I don't know. But it's not like
he didn't know her. It's it's all I'm saying is
like they've known each other since they were in college.
So that's that's that's a little weird to me. Well,
(01:18:32):
and I think, look, I mean, we don't know how.
How's the legal thing going to play out? We don't know.
But you know, dude, the Patriots just I guess they
stick buying for now, Like I don't know, I don't
know how they don't know, But the problem, I guess
they shouldn't know. I just think that you have to
let it play out. I don't I don't see how
(01:18:54):
you could, so you just I mean, obviously nothing's gonna
come up, and it's a long fine out next week.
So but you know, it's a loss. People get playing,
people get the Sacrimino Keys new coach Luke Walton was
accused of that was hired exactly example. And you know
(01:19:15):
the case. I don't remember if it was dropped, but
he was not charged. You know, nothing came of it.

former NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver and now he's the
author of a new book called Braylon Edwards Doing It
My Way, My Outspoken life as a Michigan Wolverine NFL
(01:20:19):
receiver and beyond and I used to play in Braylon's
celebrity charity basketball game. He once carried me off to
court in the strutcher. So we'll ask really, Okay, that's great,
that's a great little t So that's good. So you
you have a relationship with brayn, he'll be a good Obviously,
(01:20:39):
you got a lot of receivers in the news, so
we'll ask him some questions about that stuff. A few
some sobering news we had breaking twenty minutes ago, or
so twenty thirty minutes ago about Antonio Brown. According to
New York Times and TMZ dot com. You heard Ralph
Irvin talk about it. He's been accused of sexually assaulting
(01:21:00):
and raping a woman who was a former trainer of his,
and three separate incidents and a few details that she's
accusing him up now. He his lawyer, Darren Heitner, who's
representing Brown. He says, mister Brown denies each and every
allegation in the lawsuit. What the accuser claims is that
(01:21:23):
she has text messages that Brown that are copied in
the lawsuit, in which she says that Antonio Brown bragged
about the incidents in an angry fashion. So she says
profane and angry text messages, that he bragged about the
(01:21:44):
incident in profane and angry text messages. So those are
some of the details that are out. And you know, Rob,
I said last hour that you hoped something like this
isn't true, And of course that is true, because you
hope nobody really went through this, of course, but at
this point, I hope justice is served. Yeah, that's all you.
If he did it, I hope that justice is served.
(01:22:08):
He's found innocent, right, and person might it's about the
truth because the problem with these situations and I and
I'm with you, let's get at the truth of it
the matter. But you gotta be real careful on this one.
A lot of people don't just rush to judgment because
someone's files a lawsuit. A lawsuit doesn't mean that someone's
(01:22:30):
guilty or or or not guilty, right, that's all, no doubt, right,
that's it. No, you're absolutely right, You're absolutely right. So
let's just let the judicial system play out and see
what happens. Right, We'll have to wait and see because
he's denied it, and she said that it happens. So
that's why there's a court and a judge and the
whole thing that has to play out because it's a
(01:22:52):
he said, she said, and they got to figure it out,
all right, something else, robbed. It has to play out,
and we'll jump from one wide receiver two another. Odell
Beckham Junior. I'm calling it watch gate, all right, watch Gate.
We've had Spygate, We've of course had Watergate. What else
if we had Kate Gate? I know there's been another
(01:23:15):
gate we're missing. Yeah, but anyway, oh yeah, and the
other one, uh strip mall Gate. Do you remember when
Barbara Kraft your favorite of them all? But anyway, Odell
Beckham Junior. Now you know the story. He wore a
watch one hundred and eighty seven thousand dollars plus. It
(01:23:38):
was worth. Richard mill is the brand, and it's a
high obviously a top brand, and he played his game
and it now on Sunday. Apparently he's been wearing it
in practice throughout training camp, and the head coach, Freddy Kitchens,
hasn't stopped him from doing it, hasn't said anything about
it obj eating it on Sunday, and the league has
(01:24:01):
said they're going to investigate. They're gonna talk to him
about it. They do have a rule not against jewelry,
and you see guys wearing you know, necklaces and things
like that, but they do have a rule against wearing
hard objects of what which, in most cases, a watch
would certainly qualify. Now O b J says it's not
(01:24:21):
a hard surface. He says, it's plastic. I would think
there's gotta be some type of hard surface on there.
Can plastic open? Can it cut you? Plastic? I just
I don't get it. I just well, here's and here's
the last part, Robin, then please continue. He says he's
(01:24:45):
gonna wear it now. Obviously, if the league for we'll
see if they go in and forbid him. I don't know.
But right now the League has said they want to
talk to him and the Browns about it, and O
b J is saying saying he is going to where
the watch, and he feels like they're picking on him again.
He says, if it was anyone else, it wouldn't be
(01:25:06):
an issue. He said, if it was a twenty dollars watch,
it wouldn't be an issue. No, nobody's want to watch it.
I just give me the example of other guys wanting
to watch. Seriously, it's it's baffling, it's baffle And why Kenny,
uh dude, he's a great receiver. Chris, I don't get it.
(01:25:29):
Why why can't you just go out there and play man?
What is this? I don't It just tells you about
this is what the fight is about. This is what's
out this is what's gonna be out there. You're worried
about this. Your team just lost by forty points or whatever,
thirty points, right, Yeah, the last thing on your mind
(01:25:50):
should be really, this is this is what you're taking
up that you're right? It looks is it the worst
in fraction in the role. But to me, it speaks
to where your priorities are and where your head is, right, like, like,
why are you there? To me, there's only one reason
to wear a watch in a football game, and that
(01:26:14):
is that you're trying to impress people social media, people,
maybe your homeboys that you might see at the club. Yeah.
I mean you're trying to create this buzz and and
be the talk of popular culture for the next few
weeks or whatever. But you should just be focused on football,
(01:26:36):
not that you can't want to look good out there, right,
You see Guys wear their socks a certain way, they
wear certain types of cleats, certain colored cleats. Your your
gloves can be a certain color, how you wear your tie,
your mouthpiece, your arm sleeve. I mean, you've got plenty
of opportunities to have your own personal style and flavor.
(01:26:57):
I'm fine with that, but a why that's to me,
that's just beyond the payof Rob. I don't get it.
I just I'm one of those guys baffled, totally baffled
as to where things are, why people do what they're doing.
(01:27:18):
And I think you're right, this is about UH being
a fashion icon or having people bus hey, look how
trendy he is. Right, man, he was the first guy
to ware watching watch during the game. Or I just
don't I don't get it. If I if I played
(01:27:38):
the way that I've played and I haven't been able
to stay on the field, and you're just trying to
get that, I'm not surprised. I'm surprised that you that
that's your focus. That's what I'm surprised about. I'm surprised
that that's your focus. And and and I'm all for
trends setting. Look, there are limitations to everything, Rob, You
and I talk about it on the show periodically. You
(01:27:59):
want to do stay end up, right, but you understand
that there are certain limitations because of what you do
here and why, And that's why I haven't done it
to this point. Remember I talked to you about it.
I said, I would love to do it, but I
understand out my standing here at FS one, at the
(01:28:19):
University at USC Chris right, Yeah, the way a professor
is supposed to act, the way a talk show host
is supposed to act a TV personality. So I have
to understand that. And here's the thing. You You are
not a conformist, You're not a company man, as we say,
(01:28:40):
but you understand not None of us lives in a vacuum.
We all have to deal with certain limitations living in
a society. You have to. I heard Snoop Dog call
into Stephen A. Smith's radio show, huh when there was
something I can't remember. The player was talking about smoking
(01:29:00):
weed in the NFL, and Snoop Dog of all people,
I mean, that's been part of his career. His claim
to fame is getting high and he said, if you
want to play in the NFL, you gotta play by
the rules, even snoop understands even I mean, I'm so.
Once they have the collective bargaining and this is a
(01:29:21):
part of it, that is what happens. I don't understand
what people fight then for the right to wear watches.
Then you should have come up. But until then, play
by the rules. It's and again, it doesn't make you
a conformist. It doesn't make you a company man. It
doesn't make you selling out. Nobody can just go do
(01:29:43):
whatever the heck they want to do. Can't do it. Nobody,
not even the President of the United States. Nope. And
so come on, it'll be interesting to see Rob. If
the League outlaw the watch, then what will Odell do?
(01:30:04):
I mean, if he makes a stink about it, and
and I mean I gotta believe he just take the
watch off, right, Yeah, I would assume. So, I mean,
I'm sorry, and I'm sure when we had Charlie Castley
on last Hour gim in the NFL, he said, former gym,
(01:30:26):
he never seen anything like it, right, And I would
imagine nobody at the Browns practice had seen anything like it,
Freddie Kitchens and all the other coaches, but none of
them said anything. And that's what that could be could
be I'm not saying that definitely is, but it could
(01:30:47):
be a sign that they aren't there. There's no authority there,
you know, because you could say, hey, pull him aside
o O BJ you know you can't wear that during
the game. You know you're not playing on doing that
in the game, are you. I mean, you shouldn't wear
it in practice, but you definitely can't wear it. I
just can't believe that nobody's seen it until somebody had
(01:31:11):
video and had you know, pictures like that's the point.
That's a good point. Somebody nobody, how many how many
officials are out on the field at one time, nobody
looked on his wrists and said, he has a watch one.
None of the coaches thought it was a big deal.
Freddy Kitchens and his uh, the offensive coordinator nobody looked
(01:31:33):
at that and said, doesn't make sadgine. The Browns new
because he had been doing it in practice and that
they probably were just gonna let it go unless the
officials saying something. And look, I'm fine with being a
trend setter. Alan Iverson said the trend Remember Rob he
was the first. I remember vividly believe it was the
(01:31:54):
nineteen nineties seven All Star Game NBA All Star Game,
and I remember it because I was covering the Cavalier
in fifty Greatest. It was in Cleveland and Alan Irison played.
He was a rookie. I believe he played in the
like the rookie game, sophomore freshman game. But he had
his feelings hurt too because they booed him right because
(01:32:17):
he was a controversial figure then and everything. And he
wore corn rolls And that was the first time I
ever saw a player in an NBA game where corn rolls.
And I was fine with it. I thought it was cool,
and obviously it became a trend. That's fine. You know,
that was like, you know, back in the day, did
(01:32:39):
African America because you know, Rob growing up, you saw
that was a hair that wasn't a new hairstyle, not
at all. That's something you saw growing up in the
black community. Guys had afros, girls had afros, and you
wanted to, you know, put it in corn rolls, but
none had done it so publicly in quote unquote mainstream America.
And Iverson broke the mold and that was a great trend.
(01:33:02):
Jordan with the colored sneakers remember when the Air Jordans
first came out the league, the NBA outlawed them right
for a moment because they were red white, right black,
you know. And then of course Michigan the five five
with the long shorts Jordan really started, but they he
didn't go as long as the fast like they were
wearing cool lots right right. I'm fine with trends, you know,
(01:33:25):
and and setting trends and doing things differently like that,
but again within reason. And I just don't think a
watching the football game is within reason. I don't. I'm sorry,
I'm with you. I'm out on the watch, all right.
What do you guys think a robbing I tripping or
(01:33:47):
as OBJ tripping A seven seven ninety nine on Fox,
hit us up, it's your turn away in the Eye

you visit Truecar to enjoy more confident car buying experience.
All right, Rob, let's get to the cars. Uh what
do you guys thinking about quote unquote Watchgate. Yeah, I'm
(01:34:54):
just I'm looking at some of the responses and what's
coming in. So it'll be interesting to hear what people
saying about this because I think it should be cut
and dry, but maybe it's not. Maybe I'm over analyzing
it and real quick, Chris. In the Yankees Tigers game,
it's a meaningless game. The Tigers are bad with six nothing.
(01:35:15):
It's now eleven ten. It was six nothing Yankees. It's
now eleven to ten Yankees in the seventh inning, like
a crazy, crazy game. All right, let's get to it,
Leroy and fort Wayne, you're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Leroy? What's up? Gentlemen? It
(01:35:36):
is a pleasure as always, Thank you, my man. Mister
Bruce Sard, how much did you say that that watch
was one hundred and eighty seven plus? I think it's
one hundred eighty seven something like that. And so my
whole thing is, do you realize how absurd it is
if you, gentlemen, ever heard of one hundred and eighty
seven thousand dollars piece of plastic? Right? If it's plastic?
(01:36:03):
Now I get the risk the band being plastic or rubber.
I think he is. Somebody said, but you're right, Why
did you play one hundred and eighty seven thousand dollars
for it if it's plastic? Right? And and we all
know that Odell kind of watched the beat of his
own DRUMA At this point, he's his own cat, his
own character. More power to him. But the fact that
you've got this circus show going on with the ego
(01:36:25):
that Mayfields guy, and then Kitchens is a first time
head coach, it all just spells in. You know, he's
in way over his head. Kitchens is and if he
can't get the reins and they're already losing by thirty points,
then could just spiral down there. It really could. And
they got a tough schedule, you know, after the Jets
sun this week. They don't beat the Jets in Jersey
on Sunday. They're in trouble Monday, I think the Monday
(01:36:47):
we're right, yeah, all right, thankfully appreciate fast. How about
Rob g in Syracuse. You're on the odd couple of
our guy. Now what an atter? First of all, you
know what, you're not overanalyzing this, you're under analyzing this.
Rock Stars, movie stars, reality stars. We all know how
(01:37:10):
much they get paid for tweets when they're wearing shoes,
when Kim Kardashian's pulling a handbag, This to me stinks
of an endorsement. But they said he wasn't. I don't
think Rob brand and having that watch him that nobody
ever heard about, and I don't think oh no, I
(01:37:31):
think at this point the facts are these that we've
seen in the reports, that Raphael Nadal plays tennis in it.
He's endorsed by Richard mill and that's the name of
the watch. Bubba Watson Golf's in it, same thing. He's
got an endorsement. And a lot of auto racers wear
these watches and they have endorsements. From the reports that
(01:37:51):
we've seen, O b J does not have an endorsement.
That's what they say, So that's what they said. This.
I read Rob that this generated two point one billion
dollars worth or million dollars worth of free advertisement for
Richard mill unbelieved. Think about that, unbelieving. So he might
get one if they let him wear it. He may
indeed get one pretty pretty quick, and any might look
(01:38:13):
like a genius, no doubt about it. Patrick in North Carolina,
you're on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio. Hey, Phella,
that's how y'all doing? And I hope you're doing well.
We're good man, what's happening? Listen. I'm just gonna put
it out there, and this is just my thoughts and
feelings about the whole thing. This is football, Okay, we're
talking about the NFL. This is football. You got these
(01:38:35):
guys already, and I don't have no problems with the
word and the fifty thousand dollars ear rings in their
ears and they take off their helmets, they're blaing all
off the cameras and everything, and they got the gold
necklaces hanging. But this is football, man, Come on, it's
It's not a fashion show or anything like out there.
You're out there playing a professional sport. Act like a professional. Okay,
(01:38:57):
you get an endorsement with it, that's fun, but don't
be bringing it out on the field. Man. This is football.
I mean, what's happened to the game today where you
come out there, you have your uniform on, you're all
in unison with the team, and you know it's football.
I just don't get it, and I don't understand it.
I hear you. I agree. No one's mad at you
(01:39:18):
because how don't get it either. You're trying to look
too cute. Cute, that's what it is. This is not
a puppy show or anything like. Hell, this is the
n freaking l and what they let these guys come
out there with the watches and stuff, and I'm sorry,
it just blows my mom. I can't understand it. And
(01:39:38):
I you know, Rob I said yesterday, reminds me of
when Nick Young went out and played basketball in the
Jesus right, And you know, you can't tear your feet
up right, you could have did some damage playing basketball
and cute and cool and all that exactly crazy. How
about Pat in Orlando. You're on the couple of sports radio.
(01:40:00):
What's up? Pat? Was that the first one wall watch?
It was a partner in Miami called Reggie Ruby or
a black watch And they don't make no big deal
out of that. And I might be a good look
terms to him, that's award. I vaguely remember, I remember,
(01:40:22):
I don't. I don't remember. I know Reggie Roby is
I remember him with watch? I don't remember. A little different.
I mean, look football player as a football player, but
being a puncher is a little different. Yeah, you know what,
(01:40:42):
that's something that I'm gonna But that's something look at.
I do think he did. I think he's wrong Wikipedia
on that and just see if it says like he
was known like on Reggie Roby from the Miami Dolphins
to punner. When when you google Reggie Roby, watch comes up.
He's one of the things, does it really? Yeah, so
you just did it. But yeah, again, I think a
(01:41:03):
punter is different. But still I just didn't. I never
saw anybody where a watch. I remember him, but I
don't remember him. Do you think it's different. If he did,
I'm sorry, I still think it's different being a punter.
Yeah is different. You're not, it's not, you're not really
in contact. I see a picture of him now on
the internet. I don't know if that's a watch and
(01:41:24):
if that's it's hard to tell, all right, he look yeah,
look at that. Look that up lead for us that
can call. Yeah, let's look it up. Hey Joe in
Syracuse showing the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up?
Joe follows, It's so good to finally talk. You have
been listening to you since day one. I don't know
if I'm allowed to say this on the radio, but
I think ESPN made a huge mistake land both you
(01:41:46):
guys go for however, you guys did it. You guys
are doing a great job. Well, we appreciate it. Thank you, man,
Thank you, And you know what our first anniversary is
coming up from ESPN for just for for accuracy sake.
Earlier I called it earlier and you guys robbed. Sometimes
I wonder, man, what you're watching. How you can say
(01:42:08):
the Steelers are terrible and then the same brand say
Philly is it? They were on the rope lot today
had a contented right, you know, had to had to
the crown enterp champions already on the ropes. But I'm
calling because listen, man, I am just so sick a
sports radio talk. It's got y'all fought a year in
the content business. I understand that. But between that clown
(01:42:32):
a me eight, Antonio Brown and now you got ob
j again in the news, It's just why can't they
all go about their business like Julio did? Get is
the extension? Why can't they go about their business? Liked Hopkins,
you know what. And I'm a huge Steeler fan. But
Antonio Brown, man, no, I don't know if you guys
since you've been on the air, it just broke that
he's getting being accused of sexual assault. Now, yeah, no,
(01:42:53):
we found the content. It's a content thing. I'm just
so sick of it. And I'm hoping that at some
point in time this NFL season we could talk about
good things like Drew Brees still going at it and
everything else, you know, and listen Antonio Brown with his
antic obiz wearing to watch who cares? Let's talk about
(01:43:15):
the in my opinion, one of the best money night
football games. Ever, last night it was statistically there was
like four different lead changes in the last three minutes. No,
we do, Joe. We've talked about that, and we did.
We did talk about that to start the show. But no,
I know you know that. I know you guys did. Yeah,
I know you gotta understand and I understand what you're
saying at some point of all the other noise and stuff. Yeah,
(01:43:38):
we appreciate it. We have got Braylon Edwards speaking of
wide receivers coming up. He's got a new book out.
We'll tell you all about it. But first let's go
to Ralph Irvin for what is trending. Ralph, the story
just keeps a developing. First, we reported that Antonio Brown
has been accused of raping his former trainer in a
(01:44:00):
federal lawsuit filed today in Florida. Then Brown's attorney, Darren
Heitner refuted the claims now Texts and messaging are emerging
that Brown allegedly sent to this woman saying all sorts
of not nice things. It's just gonna keep snowballing a
little bit. No word yet from the NFL or the
(01:44:21):
Patriots obviously about what they are going to do. As
your check engine light come on recently, then check out
the free Auto Zone Fixed Finder service. It'll help you
troubleshoot the likely cause get in the zone. Auto Zone
on the Diamonds ded Gregorious his second home run of
the game that came in the seventh inning, and the
Yankees right now having the lead in a back and
forth game with Detroit. New York Cup eleven ten in
(01:44:43):
the bottom of the seventh inning. The Mets with a
three one lead over Arizona. That game is in the eighth.
Philadelphia gets the second home run of the night from
Corey Dickerson. Their lead over at Lanta now six four
in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Dodgers continue
to lead at Baltimore. It is seventh three LA in
the bottom of the eighth inning. Dodgers victory would give
(01:45:04):
them the National League West title. Online car shopping and

Oakland with seven runs in the first two and the
second two and the third. They're batting now in the
fourth up eleven two at Houston and Minnesota has taken
a two nothing lead over Washington that game in the seventh.
(01:45:28):
We'll be back to the odd couple in ten seconds.
But first word from Farmers. Farmers Insurers knows the difference
between a car hitting your bumper and a clown car
hitting your barber. That because at Farmers we've seen them
covered it. We are Farmers under written. My Farmers took
fire insurance exchanges and affiliates product unavailable in every state.
Now let's get back to it with Chris Brusard, Rob
(01:45:49):
Parker and Braylon Edwards. Thank you, Ralph. It is the

Radio studios. It's easy to say, fifteen percent of more

part is figuring out which way is easier. And remember
this is a trash talking Tuesday. Get your calls ready.
(01:46:09):
Call in now eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox
A seven seven nine sixty three sixty nine. You can
trash anyone anything in the world of sports, even myself
and Rod Parker let's get to our next guests. We've
been talking about him all show. We want to get
to him. He's got a new book out called Braylon
Edwards Doing It My Way, My Outspoken Life as a
(01:46:31):
Michigan Wolverine NFL Receiver and Beyond It is the former
NFL Pro Bowl receiver and Michigan Wolverine Braylon Edwards. What's happening?
I'm going on, man, it's great to happen. Man, can
you hear us? Hear you? Guys? All right? Really, hey, Lesha,
we try to call him back real quick. You gonna
(01:46:52):
call you? I know you hear him? Fine, Yeah, he
said he's struggling to hear us. So they're gonna doll
him right back. And let's get to Braylon in his book. Yeah,
that'll that'll be interesting. Let's get him right back. On
this Yankee Tiger game is eleven eleven. I've never seen
anything like it. Wow. Crazy? It was six nothing Wow.
(01:47:13):
Well in this day and age, it was a lot
of home runs. Yeah Yankees. Yeah, it's it's it's becoming.
It's a crazy I'm not gonna say it. All right,
let's go to bralon. Braylon is that better. I'm sorry, man,
I gotta get rid of cricket wireless. Man, It's well,
what are you doing? You can't hear us? Man? Tell us? Man,
(01:47:34):
tell us first of all what you've been up to,
and then tell us about your book. It sounds like
it's gonna be a great read. No it is, Man.
So I'm working with the opioid Karen Michigan Man just
traveling but addiction center to addiction center, also working working
with the Southeast Charis Detroit. It's kind of spitting the
message man, like. Opioid crisis here in Michigan is huge mass.
(01:47:54):
Obviously it's not obvious, but it's one of the biggest
in the countries. It's not the largest, and it's just
effect that so many of the communities out here, and
it's it's hitting the kids at an early age now.
So we were speaking to high school kids and we
realized that if we didn't get it on the ground
floor that sixth grade level, at at mid school where
you can start to tell them real things and they
(01:48:15):
start to understand them. So just ben't working with that
man and getting the book together with Tom Van Hearing
Yest and writers did a great job goes right in
the book. So between pushing that and working with that
an epidemic. That's about it. Man golfing a little bit. Well,
let's talk. Let's talk about your outspoken life, which is
a part of who you are. And I think that
(01:48:37):
you always you know, we're just honest and we're willing
to talk about stuff and say stuff. When you look
back at that, do you look at it and go, well,
that's who I am. I couldn't have changed it, or
maybe you would have liked to have changed some things,
or no, are you happy where you are? I'm happy
where I am. To be honest, I feel a zone.
When I played sports, I was always very respectful, but
(01:48:59):
at the same time very honest. I try to keep
I didn't create you know, the locker room talk like
they say, but I create some you know, some stories
or controversi, et cetera. But I mean that's who I was,
Very honest, very educated. So I want to come off
that way. I didn't want to come off like a stooge.
In fact, and sometimes in certain situations I wish I
(01:49:19):
could have said more. I wish I did say more
at certain times. But I definitely have no regrets about
my mom as a player. When I played, you know,
like keywords when I played, but when you did, but
when you didn't play, and after Michigan lost that game,
I can't remember which one it was, but you went
on Twitter and kind of went off on your former school.
(01:49:43):
How about that one? Do you wish you could take
that one back hole? Was that just a frustration or
what was that? Because obviously you know you did big
things at Michigan and are you still welcome there? Are
you not? The first and foremost I'll always be welcome
to Michigan. That's my school. All the money that I've raised, donated,
et cetera, and the player I was there one one
(01:50:04):
one tweet should not take away from from from years
of work. I wish I could take the sum of
the tweet back. At the end of the day, I
started looking at that situation and I kind of remember
watching the Guy I watched the Day for I don't
know when it was, but it was after the tweet happened.
And there's a scene in the movie were Sonny. They're
in a family meeting with the families of New York
(01:50:27):
and Sonny gets ready to say something that you know,
veto calls them back the guyfather that is, you know.
And after the meeting, I remember Vito telling them Sonny,
he said, he said, what was that? You never let
anybody outside the family know what you think. Now. The
reason why that makes sense is there are a lot
of guys up there in Michigan and the the area.
(01:50:48):
We were at the little alumni the alumni event that
they had going on, and everybody was saying the same thing,
and we're all going the same thing, and everybody was
at the same level. You catch my drift, But you
know that's there. That's the comfort of your own home,
the comfort of your your family and people you talk
about it with. But you don't go outside the family,
which means I don't go outside the Michigan family. And
(01:51:10):
you know Tweetwood I believe or Tweetwood I agree with
at that time, so I took it out of context,
and that is my fault with one percent of my
funt especially going after the kids. However, I was just
very frustrated, very passive by my school because you and
I have talked over the years. You know how much
I've been in the sick of things, fighting down and
(01:51:30):
no doubt great in the Great State of Ohio, trying
to argue my case and losing to the Ohio State
every year, losing the big ones, and you know, played
for hardball here't not necessarily didn't get along all the way.
So it was a little, a little mixture, like a
mixed bag that happened at night, and it happened with
the tweet. But everything happens for a reason. I stand
(01:51:51):
by my tweet. I apologize for it, but we still
got to win a big game. With all that being said,
brailing every words, former NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver joining
the I couple, Braylon, there's some more outspoken wide receivers
out there. And uh with Antonio Brown with what went
on at in Oakland. Uh, and I don't know if
(01:52:14):
you heard, but it just broke about an hour ago.
Sexual assault. We don't want to, we don't want to
get into that, but you don't know really why, right,
but just at Oakland? Um, what was your take on that?
What happened? What he was doing there? Listen. I'm always
in defensive players, especially wide receivers, and I learned from
(01:52:35):
from Teo and Randy always have the wide receivers back.
Nobody knows how to play that position, but us so
always support him and I support him. Think he's first
and foremost great player. I actually I saw what you
said the other day, great player, tremendous talent. I would
even go to step further. So he's a great, great father,
great all that. With that being said, I just I
(01:52:58):
don't think he's there ain't been anybody like AP to
compare to the I mean maybe to but I don't know.
I feel like he might need he might need to
go see a therapist. Will what I'm saying, Yeah, And
I don't say that lightly. You know, I wouldn't talk
to somebody to you know, get some things out there,
and you never know what's up there until you talk
(01:53:19):
to somebody and you begin to dissecting things. So he
might need to go talk to somebody, and that might
be something that's Patriots approved, or maybe that's one thing
they put into his contract or for the betterment of himself,
because he's still at that point right now, Rob Christ,
if you agree with me, where he still has a
chance to make people forget about this year or this
(01:53:41):
off season. A lot of time left. He's not gotten
any trouble off to feel if this holds up that
this was just the forest that it was allegation is
no validity to it. He still can turn this wrong
and still be great. But he's at that point where
it's like he's got he's got a toe and maybe
two toes off off the cliff and one flot like
(01:54:04):
almost No, I'm with you, I'm with you. We talked
about that earlier today in the program. Brolin, Can you
tell Chris about the time that I went up for
that dunk in your charity basketball game and the hoops
must have been and Bralin had to carry me out
on the scrutcher because you know I came down. I
don't got a couple of people. No, yeah, man, you
(01:54:27):
know Rob went up man and he boomed on. He
came down and put his ankle a little bit. No,
it was it was it was Oh, by the way
I saw the hook shot, Chris brad Yes, that was terrible.
That was the terrible. Was that nice or not? You
called at your car? Just shot you back thing down?
You gave yourself a little space. Nice little turn with it.
(01:54:49):
Hey man, you had the mechanics. It was thank you
And they know nothing about that. The only thing missing
from that Brelan was the black and white film for that.
That thing looks so old. It did look a little risk,
it did. Hey, well the book tell him again, Chris.
The book is Braylon Edwards, Braylon Edwards doing it my way,
(01:55:12):
my outspoken life as a Michigan Wolverine NFL receiver and beyond.
And I I tell you, I mean Braylon he obviously
was a great player. And like you said, Braylen, you
you had some controversy and stuff. So I think this
is gonna be a great book. I mean really, And
next time you come out to Los Angeles, man, come
to the studio and hang out with me and Chris seriously. Yes,
(01:55:32):
hey man, I will love to man. I'll give up
you guys a hip. Lets you know when that will be. Yeah, okay,
great stuff, brother, come up with the book. All right,
appreciate it. Thanks Chris. Yep. All right, you know what
time it is? Trash Stalking to Day eight seven, seven

let's get it kicked off. Trucker don uh in Boston,
you're in the eye couple of Fox Sports Ready, who
you trashing? Yeah? Thank you, Thank for taking by call, Chris,
(01:56:42):
Thanks for taking my call. Hey, First off on k
D By the way, he not only left Oklahoma City
at the Altar, he went out and married their cheerleading Bible.
But anyway, I called, well, first off to uh see
(01:57:05):
if I can invest in Rob Parker because I figured
he's been trying to dig a grave for the Patriots
for so long he's probably struck oil by now. Oh man, wow, wow,
I know, look a don, all that time on the road,
you just got n think of one line. Thank you,
Thank you appreciated. What about standing in Philadelphia? You're on
(01:57:26):
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Who you try
to stand? I'm surious from Chris. Sorry, Chris, you know
what you did, Chris? You took it too far when
you said Dak Press guys reaching top ten and fought
to the elite. Wow, he's on his way going into
his fourth year. That was his sixth game for throwing
(01:57:48):
over three hundred yards six and this means any thank you?
Even top five in the NFC. You do not even
top five in the NFC. How can you dare say that? Chris?
Stop being prisoner at the moment the Giants, he does
this against him all the time. He's end the see
to get the Giants. Basically, stop the Wow, that was
(01:58:09):
not my Jessica. I don't know what I know. Jessica's
ripping me. She's always what's VB, Jessica, You're not. I'm
not ripping any of you guys. Stay who you trust.
John Pittsburgh Steelers Killers look like deer in the freaking
headlights against the New England Patriots again, it's like, oh no,
(01:58:30):
we're facing Tom Brady cricket. Cricket, he's forty two years old.
Come on, give me a break. That old man's arm
is about the fricking fall off. And you guys can't
stop him. You can't get him any pressure. He just
stands in like a damn tree in the pocket. Ben
Roethlisberger should be staying like a tree because he's ten
times bigger. And then jujus miss Schuster, welcome to being
(01:58:51):
the number one receiver on the Pittsburgh Steelers. You gotta
get open, that is what's Being a number one receiver
means you don't have help on the other side. You
gotta aren't it. You gotta prove it, You gotta get
those catches. But you still got to be a team player,
unlike Antonia Brown, who was just absolute, straight up garbage.
All right, there you go. What about Max and Georgia?
We got time for Max. You're on the couple Fox
(01:59:13):
Sports Radio. Who you trashing? Max? I'm serving some week
one humble pie. Matt la Floor just got humbled right
out the gate. We all expect results with Sir Rogers,
Cliff kingsburying his new franchise quarterback or frauds. Both of
these coaches aren't even close to Sean McVay two point zero.
The Browns and Baker Mayfield got shell shocked by the Titans,
(01:59:35):
so much so that we all will have to remember
the Titans. The Ravens smacked up the Miami Dolphins so
much so after the game they asked for Spencer Strathmore's
cell phone number for more ballers. Rackers coming hard, hard
and strong. I think we don't have any time, right,
that's it, Chris, Hey, great job everybody. Next week we'll
(01:59:57):
have more time. I'm very good trash talking to day. Yes,
all right, Rob, great show. We will all see you
guys tomorrow, same time, twenty one hours from now. It's
the Eyt Gubble, Fox Sports Radio
