quote and a great show for you today. Man, a
lot of NFL, a lot of NBA. We're gonna look

(01:10):
back at the first half of the season and put
Rob Parker in his place, because you all know from
earlier in the week he's got the big head. I
bought him a pair of Jordan got the biggest feel
the bed. Okay, don't believe me. I'm getting to Jordan's back.
It might be next month, next year, he might be

(01:33):
doing the playoffs, but I will get a pair of
Jordan's Curtis. You don't buy that. You don't buy that
for one secon Christ is shook. He ain't no way
he wants to bet me. He's scared to bet me. Wings.
Now you know what will happen. First, Rob's meeting a
piece of meat before that, that's right. Wow, look at
DJ tysher Rob Parker's man wag. You know you're a

(01:55):
little shook over the whole thing. I'm just saying it's
gonna be a little while before I bet you some
Georgian iris. I have to really analyze the bet. I mean,
but to be honest, keeping it real, I had virtually
a sure thing. Right, No, you didn't know, No, But
I mean, is it ever gonna get better than thinking

(02:15):
the Astros they were the biggest favorites in ten years?
I get it. But you know what I'm saying. But
you know, down right lucky, but didn't that. But wait
a minute, I did have a feeling. And I'm saying
you got to say that from early on. It wasn't
like after they beat the Dodgers the guts to go,
I give you pray you had the guts to go with.
I was like Nash something about it, yea, and there

(02:36):
it is. But it's all you did. Pick the Yankees
you like to, you like to. I'm just saying, but
we made a bet. We pick the Yankee, but we
made it. We made a bet on that. So don't
act like I'm just saying you have reacted like you
know stradmis, you know, like your Isaiah the prophet. But
after Wall, what's up? The Nationals got in and they
got over the hum remember they were playing it were

(02:58):
up two? Oh, you were real confident about the national
All right, that's all that's to be. All right, Chris,
what's cool? Now? You did? You did well? You did.
I won't bet again. I'll give you another chance. You know,
if you want to bat, I gotta pat the new
plant based whopper better, oh man, something like that. You
could eat that, I'd rather chisk of sounded stereotypical. You

(03:23):
eat more chicken than anybody I've ever met. We're gonna
say that any other black person is white, beige, blue black, anything,
blue black, black. No, you're not. I'm just saying any
whatever the human spectrum of color is, that's when do
you eat more chicken than anybody on aspect. It's when
did we get ownership of chicken? I mean, white people

(03:46):
eat chicken too, since chattel slavery, that's when the stereotype began.
But because I was that was the cheapest bird. That's
one of many myths and and you know negative they
attached to it. I love chicken, I'm looking, I love
all of it. I love music and and you can't swim,

(04:08):
so you got it all and I can look, I
can joke pretty fast. Look at that. Jonas just had
a mouthful of chicken. He's seen chicken. But of course
right now chickens. All right, you're crazy, Chris, all right,
we got a great show. As you said, let's welcome
in the odd couple of cool. Wouldn't be able to

(04:29):
do this fine radio program without him. Of course. Rob
g is our producer, Alex is our engineer. Steve de
Sager's at the anchor desk. He'll keep us updated throughout
the program. That's right. Mike is our intern and Elijah
is our social media guru, one of the best in
the business. And uh, they're all on the other side

(04:50):
of the glass. Come on, Chris boots on on his
TV theme song Thursday, Let's kick some mouths, Let's do it,
and uh, we have to start here because it is
the big story of the day. It's the story that
won't go away. And we talked about it before the show.
Rob and neither one of us. You don't feel good
talking about this, but you have to Antonio Brown back

(05:12):
in the news and it really seems Rob, we both
feel like he's got some serious issues. And the reason
we say that, I mean, obviously there was the way
he behaved about the helmet with the Oakland Raiders and
then you know, going off on Mike Mayock and some
of the social media stuff that came lashing out. And

(05:38):
now he went on social media to day and was
like two different people and here goes Rob G tell
us what, well, let me give the backstory. There was
a story that broke today Josina Anderson our friend that
he's going to meet with the NFL next week. They
had already talked to the female right in accused him

(05:59):
of sexual assault. Right, and now that we're going to
finally hear his his his side of the story. And
so that came out earlier today and then Ab goes
on social media and says this, that's right about an
hour after that news broke from Josina Andrewson. This is
ab on Twitter, He says, quote, imagine conforming to a

(06:21):
system giving it one hundred percent to see them treat
me like this unfairly making money off my sweat and blood.
F the NFL. I'll never play in that s treat
black people the worst, clear my name and go f
yourself and quote. All right, so he comes out with that,
Now what's the problem and then what how long? How

(06:46):
much later Rob G did he come out with his
next social media person was a few babe, like five
or six hours later. I'm guessing he had time to
speak to his agent, maybe calmed down, drink some tea.
His agent needs to be living with him because now
he takes agent needs to have access to his account,
just his agent need or agent, mom, best friend, somebody

(07:07):
that cares about him well. Basic needs to be able
to look at his post before he posted Chris. Based
on the way this read, you tell me if you
think he wrote this himself, he says, quote, I'm just
very frustrated right now with the false Alex stop and
slander to my name. Stop. He didn't love football and
I miss it. I just want to play, and I'm

(07:29):
very emotional about that. I'm determined to make my way
back to the NFL asap. His agent wrote that, No,
but Rob, here's what we want to get at because
in addition to all this now, granted it's before all
this has happened today, but Adam Schefter and all the
NFL insiders have been reporting that there are still NFL

(07:54):
teams very much interested in Antonio Brown. I don't even
doubt that he Hawks before for they signed Josh Gordon,
looked into AB and Russell Wilson was pushing them to
sign a B and so it's, uh, it's going. We
we got some breaking news. We were uh, that's why

(08:16):
we're a little distracted. The Clippers, remember yesterday we talked
about the low management with Kawhi Leonard. They have been
fined fifty thousand dollars for statements on Kawhi Leonard. The
NBA is saying that the statements contradicted you know what
what they that this is an injury? What that which?
Which is what they put out and agreed to that

(08:38):
they agreed with the Clippers, And now Doc said some
different stuff in the press conference, and now Doc is
the one. That's why, uh you know, Doc said some
stuff and now the league is going back said this
is a slip. We slope here. We're gonna we're gonna
get into this as well. We're gonna get into this
were a little bit later because but I'm not surprised
by this because it's a slip, we slope, Cris. It's

(08:59):
a very Look, we'll talk. We'll talk about it because
this is so much to say about it. But getting
back to a B Rob, First of all, let me
say this. If a b is indeed cleared of this
sexual assault, if he's cleared of all the other things,
and he needs some type of mental evaluation, I would

(09:23):
love to see him back in the NFL. Not because
he's a great player. Yeah, I'd like to see him play,
but people deserve second chances, no doubt about it. And
the NFL is filled right with second chances of Chris.
As bad as he's been, not as bad as some
other guys. Right at this point, he hasn't been as
bad as some other unless he's guilty of you know,
the teams and to this point, right he's not guilty

(09:44):
of anything. Man is innocent until proven guilt. Right, So
to this point, other guys have had felonies, have beat
up women, children, vehicular homicide, all kinds of stuff. So
so before everybody goes, oh, he should be able to
play because he goes off on Twitter, they have bent
over backwards for a lot of people to allow him

(10:05):
to play football. I'm with you, I don't have a
problem if if this stuff gets cleared up and and
and he's exonerated or you know, the the NFL looks
and says, we really can't go forward. We don't have
enough significant uh substantial um evidence to say he's definitely
guilty of this or not. Then then then he's free

(10:26):
to play. And he's a talented football player. And if
you're gonna bend over backwards for other guys, who's the
guy that Cowboys picked up who was convicted um not
Greg Hardy? Yeah, Greg Hardy, who was convicted right right
in the court of law, and they signed him. And
we know Ezekiel Elliott was not convicted of anything, right,

(10:48):
but there was a lot of evidence that said he
did this, and they went full board a bat for
him exactly. He was suspended for six games. Six league
thinks he did something, and so he's playing and everybody
loves him and I like him. He's a great running back.
But this is the point, rob anything. I mean, there's
really not much you can do to not have a

(11:10):
chance to play in the NFL. You have to do
something like premeditated murder. Anything other than that, and you
you're gonna get a chance if you can. I know
it sounds crazy, like, oh, you're right. I totally agree
that it has to be that heinous. Other than that,
there's been some bad guys in the NFL who have

(11:32):
done some bad things to people and they've gotten second
and third chances. So so that's why we're saying with
Antonio Brown, we both are in agreement that if he
can get all this stuff behind him, if he's innocent,
then we'd love to see him back in the NFL. Obviously,
a lot of teams would love to have him. And

(11:55):
what we want to throw out to you guys is
would you want him on your team? I don't know
if you're Raiders fai, well, Raiders, I think that ship
is sailed, Patriots, that ship be sailed. You'd love to
have him in New England if they need him, they
need it. Would be if they had him, things would
be I mean, they're obviously still a great team, would

(12:15):
be much different if they had him. Aaron Rodgers. I
know Green, We talked about Green. BA should have gone
after him before. This dude is one of the best
receivers in the game. And that's one reason this is
so sad. But we're throwing it out to you. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. If the Browns went after
an only problem, that would be another quarter, another receiver
that Baker Mayfield could. Honestly, one team I'm gonna say

(12:38):
that doesn't need him, But for Cleveland Brown that's the
one team that does not need because they can't get
the ball to the hell they can't, all right, they
seven seven ninety nine on Fox. You'll turn the way in.
Would you want Antonio Brown on your team if he's
cleared of all these charges. A couple of Fox Sports Radio.
We'll continue with you next. Fox Sports Radio has the

(13:43):
vehicle information code and mileage to get you verified fixed solutions.
So get in the zone autos on all right, we
threw it out to you eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three
sixty nine. And it is a TV theme song Thursday
here on the Yes indeed, yes, indeed. So what are
your thoughts? Would you want ab on your squad assuming

(14:07):
he's cleared of all these charges. Let's start with Jacob
in New Mexico. Jacob, you're on with Christ and Rob Dave.
What help guys? Thanks for taking my call. Mexico represent
Broncos country out here, and heck yes I want him
on my team. Hey, and in the words of the
genius Rob Parker, Christmah Sard, stopped it man. We're talking

(14:30):
about saying, that's my stolen. He stole my saying so
your genius is a thief. He's a he's a vernacular thief.
Why stop it man, stop him talking about a b
You were saying, Oh, the standard has been set, we
need to suspend him. Stop it man, suspension. But I

(14:53):
didn't say. I did say the way he was disrupting teams,
I wouldn't want him. If I was in Oakland and
he was doing all that stuff, I couldn't. You gotta go,
but you gotta. But that's what you will admit though
that people are still I do not doubt that if
he comes through this and it's eligible to play, he
will sign with a team. Somebody will somebody however, if

(15:15):
he but if he keeps up the Shenanigans, I just
think guys have done think yeah. But but but still
I understand, and I run my football squad. I get it.
If you know you're causing all these problems. All right,
Tyson in Washington, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Tyson? What's the guy no doubt? Okay, So,

(15:39):
assuming that he is sent all these allegations are false,
one could make a pretty strong argument that having this
type of false slander to your name could make you
do some crazy things. And if you think about it,
he's always been a little bit fiery, a little bit
maybe over the top, fiery on the sideline with teammates, whatever,

(16:00):
But he has never had this wholer type uh persona.
And really these allegations started coming up, assuming they came
up when he was in Oakland. So if he's clear
that maybe that it kind of calmed him down and
he can kind of forget about it. Go back to
the tyson your Your point is well taken, and I

(16:21):
get it. He's an emotional guy, right, All this stuff
is going bad in his life. And then and I'm
not saying, I don't know what the woman say, it's
totally made up? Right, would you want to go ballistic?
Christ if somebody made something up about you and put
you you know what I'm saying, like, like, I'm with you.
If it's proven that he's right, exonerated, innocent, you could

(16:43):
buy any say I went ballistic because I couldn't believe
that I knew this woman was at stake. Here's the
only problem that I agree with you, and I agree
with Tyson's premise. Here's the only problem that charge that
laid by this woman. I think her last name is Taylor. Um,
you know, I know his friend of his in college.
That came after everything that happened in Oakland. Now I

(17:07):
get that, So we can't put that stuff on it.
But you're right, well, you could put like these three
since then, you could put everything on it. But he
did a lot of stuff before then, no doubt that
you couldn't put on the charges. Let's go to Hector
and Las Vegas. Hector On with Chris and Rob. Thanks
for having me on. Yeah, I'm a Steeler fan, and

(17:29):
I'm thinking, you know, if they were willing to have
Larry consider to bring a levy on Bill Back, well
why not bring up brown Back? At least him and
Ruthinsburg gonna have something more in common now us Why well, wow,
Hector Levon wasn't quite as disruptive as a b But yeah,

(17:49):
he had his issues too, but not like the nothing.
And let's face it, I mean, everybody a lot of
people raving over the job that Mike Thomlin did with
him so well. Now when you look cut and think
that very little came out or man, was there a
nobel priest other than me when he did the and
Thomas know what's going on to Facebook live while he

(18:12):
was speaking? How is he going to know that's going on?
Or if somebody has their phone going. I would just
if I had a B on my team, it would
just be like you would not know if you're gonna
wake up in the morning. Every single night you went
to bed, you know there's a chance I might wake
up in the morning and who knows what in the
world has happened. No, that's a tough life to live.

(18:33):
Austin and Kentucky, you're on the odd couple. Fox Sports Radio,
Hey guys, First of all, just want to say you
guys have the best show out there. I love get
to talk to you guys. Man than aust That's nice. Absolutely.
I just want to say I think me personally, I
would probably take a shot on him all off the
field stuff inside. Antonio Brown is one of the best
players in his position that we've seen in a very

(18:54):
long time. So that being said, I think I would
give him a shot. But I'd have to let him
know up front that if any of the off the
field stuff causes distraction, you gotta go. Uh. Antonio Brown,
to me, hasn't proved that he is focused on playing
the game of football. Yet. I agree the owner that's
what you gotta want. But people are acting like he's
from washed up football player, and people are quick to

(19:15):
forget how great he is. Oh yeah, you know what.
Ball shouldn't even be in questions, right and Austin. That's
a great point because people acting like, oh, just see
he no, he can play great. When he went to
New England, did he not cash out right away? I mean,
you saw there are robbed. There are only a few.
For all the really good receivers out there, they are
only a handful that are definite difference makers, only a handful.

(19:42):
And he's one of them. There's no question he's one
of them. Let's go to Eric and Kalamazoo. Eric, you're
on with the eye couple. Aye, go Rob, Chris, what's up?
I wanted to call Lan's Nate about the horrible thing,
but I said, no, I'm gonna laid back. But with Bill,
I mean with a Brown man, I've seen how they

(20:02):
did Dennis Robin when they couldn't beat him one say
some other stuff messing with him. They kind of hated
him about to lead him. This guy, if you can't
beat him, head up, I want to see that talent
out there. These things came about. We heard about some
strange things that happened to open take a guy from
the Midwest, from central Michigan from his birth Steelers to
put him out west. Thing's not gonna necessarily go right

(20:23):
him and the guy had some words, he says some stuff.
If he says, because he guy, let's not just make
straight let's just not make straight up excuses for him.
I mean, I hear where you are. You're saying because
he moved from the Midwest to the West, that explains
all the di violatile things he did out in Okland.

(20:46):
That sounds like he should just he's ever. All of
us are responsible for our actions, no doubt, and so
I'm I hear where you're coming from. And we don't believe,
we believe that he deserves a chance if he's honor ray,
if there's nothing out there and the police aren't gonna
come arrest him or or at the NFL says, you know,
what it said, he said, she said, And we really

(21:08):
don't have evidence. We really don't. It's hard to condemn
somebody if it's just that. Thanks for the car. Eric
will appreciate the support. H Connor in Kentucky. You're on
the eye couple of Fox Sports Radio. Rob. I'm the
Connor Buchanan that has the same birthday as you. Oh
I just saw you on Twitter right, Uh yeah, January

(21:29):
tenth with capricorns, absolutely Capricorn brothers. Now my staying on
Antonio brown Is I'm a I'm a quote you Rob
no way, no, how he was he Isn't it awesome?
Awesome while receiver, but he's a child. You cannot First off,
you can't yell at you know, you have Robert Kraft

(21:52):
whatever he did. Yeah, you can't go with him on Twitter.
You can't be on Twitter and try to be a
professional athlete and be saying all the stuff, just like
the Browns guy who was what was his name? Who
was threatening all the all the people on Yeah what
was his name? Ye? Right? Yeah, you got you gotta

(22:12):
be professional. If you're gonna make that much money, you
gotta be a professional. I'm sitting here in Kentucky I'd
give anything to be able to play in the professional
in the National Football League and just be able to
live out my dream of playing like that. And he's
wasting all of his talents, wasting every event of God's
giving ability that he has because he wants to be
a child. What do you all think? No, I mean

(22:35):
it's right. I mean I would want to put him
through a mental evaluation, not just for his own sake,
so maybe we can see what the root of the
problem is. But his behavior has definitely been uh crazy,
and so he needs to go through something like that. Rob.
It seems like two some of these younger generation guys,
maybe because they grew up on social media, maybe because

(22:58):
you know, stuff they watched listen to you can say
whatever you want. Some of them, it seems like they
feel like they can say whatever the heck they want. Noah,
you can't. You don't. You can't, but your held accountable
because you work for somebody. But they don't want to
be account like I can say whatever. Like when I
hear Antonio talking about free, like we're all free, but
you're not free to just say whatever the heck you

(23:19):
want to say without repercussion. We work for Fox Sports Radio.
There's guidelines and certain things, right, I mean we know
that going in, don't you know? Yeah? You do? Okay,
So none of us live in a vacuum, none of them,
none of us. Zero. Look at what we're gonna get
to this. Later, Doc Rivers was at a press conference.
He said what he thought. Guess what? He just got

(23:39):
five fifty thousand dollars right right, that's the second time
Doc Doc needs. Is he gonna be like, I'm gonna
stop talking about Kawhi all the money I'm losing? All right.
Lindsay Hunter is a two time champ from the Motor City.
What does he think about the low management epidemic in
the NBA? Will find out next, But first be sure
to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris

(23:59):
brue Sorry then Rob Parker week days at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeart Radio app. If it is the I Couple of
Christen Rob coming he live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent of more
in your car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot
com or call eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The

(24:19):
only hard party is figuring out which way is easier.
This is a guy we both covered in the NBA,
had a great NBA career. I was there when he
got drafted for the Yeah, I was there. It was
he was hyped. He played at Jackson State and HBCU.
Now he's coaching at an HBCU Mississippi Valley State, where

(24:42):
Jerry Rice played football exactly. It is a two time
NBA champion. Lindsay Hunter, Lindsay, what's happened? What's up? Lindsay,
what's going on? Fellas? How y'all doing? We are great man,
It's great to have you on the show. Now. Look,
we're gonna get into you know, your team in Mississippi
Valley State and all that. But the big news right
now is low management in the NBA. What are your

(25:06):
what are your thoughts? You were played in the league
when men were men, You played her, you played every night.
I mean, what do you think? Well, you know, it's
a new thing. I think it all started with guys
sitting out the end of the season getting ready for
the playoffs, and we all know that's where it kind
of derives from. And I think they've just taking it

(25:27):
a little too far now with sitting out this early
in the in the year, you know, uh, I know
Kawai situation, he played extended year, but yet it's still um,
you know, maybe he has something else going on that
we don't know about, but but it's just weird seeing
guys sit out this early on. Is it possible, lindsay,

(25:49):
like with low management, can teams do that? Like you
play about thirty three minutes a night, so we'll hold
you at that limit and then you know, take some
practices off, Like there is there a way there seems
like there should be a way to alleviate the stress
on the guy's body without them having to miss games
when they're healthy. I think so. I think so, Chris,

(26:13):
because I remember guys, you know, having their minutes cut
during the season, especially guys that you know played a
long season that that go you know, to the finals
and things like that. So you can't I think you
can't limit you know, the the amount of minutes they
played every night and cut back on practice. You know,
you practice more than you play, uh in the NBA.

(26:34):
So I think that's another way that you know, they
can trying to manage whatever the guys got going on,
whether it's his knee or whatever. After you're playing career,
lendsay and you played what was it eighteen years? How
many years was it in the seventeen years? Seventeen years,
which is a long time, won a championship with the
Pistons and with the Lakers. Uh. And then you got

(26:56):
into coaching, and you were assistant coach for a number
of team out of Golden State when Steph Curry came around,
and and uh, now and then you were a head coach,
right you took over at for the Songs and now
you're and now you're coaching at Mississippi Valley State. And
just tell me the difference between coaching on you know,
of course the pro level and then coming and taking

(27:19):
over and doing the college level, especially at HBCU. Well,
you know, for me, this is where I came from. It.
I uh was raised in the HBCU environment, you know,
back in Jackson, Mississippi. And you know, my father would
take me to all the big football games, all the
big basketball games with uh. You know, when coach Dave

(27:40):
Whitney was coaching down at Alcorn and um, you know,
I end up signing with him coming out of high school.
So I was always a big HBCU fan and and
that was my world. And and for me, you know,
coaching on all the different levels, the most gratifying thing
for me is to be able to to mow, you know,
continue to mold these young men and peace them to

(28:02):
grow to grow to be young men. Uh, not only
on the corporate off the court. UM. I think it
suits me best because I love teaching and I love um,
you know, mentoring the young men. And in the NBA,
you know, it's it's a little harder to do that
because guys are you know, supposed to be men because
you know you have that status. Um. But but you know,

(28:25):
on the college level, you get to do more of that,
and it is really like a family environment, especially what
we have created here. Lindsay, I was one of many
voices to say, I would love to see some of
these top athletes, black athletes go to some HBCUs because
I think it could not only boost the athletic programs,
but money you could make could go to the academic

(28:48):
programs at the school as well. And I just wanted
to interrupt you scouts go where the talent is. They
don't go to the school. Lindsay's a primary exactly, Joe Dumars.
You could go on and on and on about guys.
Jerry Right, it's the greatest football player of all time.
Didn't go to a big time college. So you saw
mccore maker and Josh Christopher visit Howard. Do you think

(29:09):
that there could be a little bit of a trend start.
I don't know. You know, mcmaker wants to go to
the NBA next year, so he may not even go
to college. But do you think with these guys even
just visiting Howard University and HBCU, that you might start
to see some of the top players in basketball looks
closer at the HBCUs And you got you, Kenny Anderson,

(29:33):
I believes at Fisk. George Lynch is at Clark as
head coaches. So do you think that having you guys
who played in NBA could help that as well? I
really do, I really do. And eyes you know, in recruiting,
I talked to a number of kids and some high
profile kids that you know would would would actually give

(29:55):
us a chance, give you know, give HBCUs a chance.
And I think you know as HBCUs and not just
the athletic aspect of it, but the academic piece. Also,
we have to feel like we're worthy of having these kids.
We can't just turn away because we think a kid
is gonna go you know, if he's a top one
hundred kid, oh, he's not coming to us, right, you

(30:16):
still have to if you still have to recruit him,
and you know, you let them tell, you know, and
then that's fine. Um, but but don't look past them
because you never know. There may be a kid that
that decides, you know what, I'm gonna go pro anyway,
So I'm just gonna go here and play for a
guy that's been there, a guy that knows, you know,

(30:36):
how to prepare me to get there, and I'll be fine.
So you know, I feel like that day it will happen. Um, prayerfully,
I hope it will happen for me. But but it's
it's it's a real possibility. How about Also, you know,
athletes and and I've people have a right to do

(30:58):
whatever they want to do with them money. Okay, but
I do, lindsay, every time I see the stories of
these guys who made it big in the NBA, NFL, whatever,
and they're giving money to these universities to have all
this money and I know they went there and these
and these hbcused could really use the money even though

(31:19):
these guys didn't play there, and there have been some
people have done it, right, didn't uh KD recently? I
think Steph Curry started at a golf program at Howard, right,
Steph started golf thing right, So I'm just saying, don't
wouldn't it be great if some guys could take a look. Also,
just because you didn't go to HBCU doesn't mean that

(31:41):
that money can't be utilized and helped rather than just
filling the coffers of some of these universities that have
endowments and money up to Wazoo was just unbelievable. Well,
you know a lot of those guys are educated to
know the status of US financially and so they don't

(32:02):
understand it. Um. You know, you look at guys like
Draymond and Katie who's given back to Texas and Michigan State,
and uh, they're not familiar, you know, with with the
history and they don't know the struggle of you know,
going to college at HBCU and uh you only get
two pair of tis hues for the seedure, right, you know,

(32:23):
versus game right right, you know, and and they don't
they don't see that part of it. Um. But but
hopefully we can bring you know, more light to it
and and hopefully we can get you know, uh, the
HPEC used some some more help that that's really needed,

(32:43):
and not just for athletics, but but overall for for
academics and things like that, because uh, they all needed. Lindsay,
I think you were involved with the Players Association when
you played. That would be a good thing for the
NBPA to start promoting. I think absolutely. I think so too.
And uh that is something that after the season I'm

(33:07):
going to look into and contact some people to try
to start start some type of movement to get some
help to you know, not just Mississippi Valley, but but
the MEAK and the Swacking and the SIEC and all
these the black consciences that that you know are struggling
and hanging over by a thread that need uh, you know,
an injection of of of some money to help them

(33:30):
thrive and survive. But miss Mississippi Valley state first, and
Linda has about nine sons or whatever. Linday has nothing
before and and but what are your sons is on
your team? Just tell us real quick. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
my Uh, it was a blessing for me to be
able to coach my baby boy, Caleb. Um, and uh

(33:51):
it's been really fun. Um. You know, I think you know,
when you have a kid and you're coaching them. I've
watched a lot of you know, coaches coach their sons
and see the dynamics of it and to experience it.
It's phenomenal, you know, to be around him while he's
growing up and going through the different things that he's
going through and watching them thrive in the classroom as

(34:15):
well as on the court. It's been great, man. And uh,
that's a blessed to be involved with that. And uh,
you know, and he's doing well, and you know we're
building something special here and you know we'll be fine
as great stuff. And I'm coming for a game. I
told you that I am coming down there. All right, buddy,
all right, you got better? All right, we will. Good

(34:35):
luck this season. The Raiders and Charges are both in
the playoff hun really really really intriguing Thursday night football
game tonight. I still can't decide if either team is
good or not. I mean, I know, I see Rob
g Wrights are teases, and he is a big Oakland
Raiders fan. I can decide the Chargers' I'm not sure

(34:59):
what they are. I know what the Raiders are. They're mediocres,
so they're not You wrote this tease biased. I didn't
say that in the meeting. You were in the meeting.
You were in the meeting, and I said, I know
what the Raiders are. All right, we'll see after the
night anyway, we will discuss that next as The Eye
Couple Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions

weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. It is The Eye
Couple Chris Brussard and Rob Parker on the TV Theme
Show Thursday. That, of course, is Andy Griffith, a legendary
show from the fifties. YO underrated show though in my opinion,

(35:42):
what do you know about and today's age do? I
watched the whole thing? Really yeah, they add on Netflix.
I watched like for a month strage. I wasn't usually
into it. I thought it was okay. I saw plenty
of it. Barney five. Andy Griffith it never floated my boat.
It was okay. It wasn't like the humor was too dryer.
I don't know. It just there wasn't no brothers in Mayberry, Yeah,

(36:04):
none none. I think there was one episode that spooked them.
I think so, but I don't know. Now it was
pretty good, but it is a legendary show. All right.
We got a big game coming up tonight, as we said,
the Los Angeles Chargers four and five against the Oakland
Raiders four and four. Let's bring it rob G for

(36:24):
this one, because he thinks that Oakland is something special. Um,
I'm going with the Chargers, Rob G. Maybe that will
make you feel good considering how my picks have been
this year. It does and also tells me again, Chris,
that you're a company man. You know that our affiliate
is the home of the Chargers in LA and so
the fact that you would pick them is not surprising
to me. No, I just think they're better. I don't know.

(36:51):
You haven't been following the Chargers, you don't know. I
feel like I know what Oakland is, and Oakland is
a is a so so team. They're better, better than
I expected. I thought they might win six games, so
they're better than I expected at four and for it,
and they're in the playoff hunting in the AFC. The Chargers.
Imagine what it wouldn't be if a b if everything

(37:13):
had worked out with them, right, I mean, think about it.
That was a right play to go get him. I
know it didn't work out, but I'm just saying the
Raiders could be a lot better, Rob do you know, Oh,
they would be much better if you had. But even still,
I mean, the Raiders have one of the most efficient
offenses in football. Yep. And so what say what you
want about John Gruden and his his facial expressions at

(37:36):
hard knocks and trading away as best players, but it
seems to be working so far. He has a plan
and they're executing it. And that's your standards are so low.
You want to hear some of these Derek Carr, staff
and Derek car when people wanted to ship out of town.
Last five games, Chris bu Sorry, completing seventy percent of
his passes twelve hundred eighty five yards eight point five

(37:59):
for ten. I mean it's not he's just checking it down.
He's going it over the top a little bit. Nine touchdowns,
one pick, QB rating of one hundred and twelve. They've
lost two of their last three games. They've played the
toughest schedule in football, and they have They've only had
one home game in the last five weeks. They're okay,
They're okay. I mean, would you you want to cook?

(38:20):
What my problem with Rob g Your standards are too low, Chris,
too low? Chris? If the if the Raiders area little
baby a look at that bringing the baby into the
little baby Aria. These are the standards A A A
A all right, don't no, don't say if the standard

(38:41):
a s. If my Raiders played the schedule of Rob
Parker's New England Patriots, we might be seven and one. Yeah,
does stop it? Because I know it. You got to
listen to who they've played, Chris. You know they played
the Broncos, not good other than that, Chiefs, Vikings, Colts,
the Bears, who we thought were gonna be good, but
they weren't. Packers, Texans, Lions, Lions. There's nowhere that's now

(39:05):
we're bragging about beating the Lions. Two bad teams and
six playoff teams they have. I'm looking at their schedule.
It has been kind of tough. I'll give you that.
So they're winning to night, that's what you're saying. Oh
we got that, all right, we got that. This will
tell us where I'm really this really would I actually
would like the Raiders to win because I like the Raiders.
I grew up on Fred butlitting the cough, Lester Hayes,

(39:28):
George Atkinson, Ted Hendrick, This is what happens? When is
what happened? Real talk, Kenny Stable. When you don't have
a when you don't have a real hometown, When you
don't have a real hometown, you love everybody. I used
think Jack Tatum hit like Tatum? Do you liked everybody?

Fox Sports NFL analyst Greg Jennings joined us at the

(40:32):
boo hour. Greg Jennings, he will join us in less
than thirty minute. Definitely, you want to keep it locked
for that. But before that, we're gonna get into some
breaking news came out within an hour hour or so
ago when we just started to show up that we
remember yesterday, the big news was that Kawhi Leonard was
sitting out the nationally televised game on ESPN against the

(40:57):
Milwaukee Bucks, and Yannis on to dakomp and the league
initially came out while everybody knew the league said that
they had no issue with Yeah, the league came out
and said, look, basically, he said he's he's hurt. And
and then Doc Rivers spoke before the game, and credit

(41:17):
to Doc, he was honest and open about it and
said things like he feels great and not with as
much exuberation, but he did say, oh, we don't have
it okay, but he I think I quote if I
can find it here. Okay, read here. I have the
quote here. It is Doc said this before the game.

(41:38):
He feels great, but he feels great because of what
we've been doing and we are just going to continue
to do it. There's no concern here, but we want
to make sure that's pretty much what is. He also said,
I think Kauai made the statement he's never felt better.

(41:59):
It's our ji to make sure he stays that way,
and that's important. But he played a lot of minutes
in the playoffs last year, and it's not a health thing.
That's not what the league says. Really it is in
some ways we want to We want him to just
keep feeling better and getting better. Okay, so here's the
money things. He feels great, it's not a health thing. Boom.

(42:23):
I like why I made the statement he's never felt better.
Didn't play. Then that's a contradiction of what supposedly the
Clippers that put out and the NBA that they had
signed off on. Chris, you said it. You said the
league came across basically stamping an endorsement saying he's damaged goods,
he's hurt. Well, that's that's why I'm just saying go

(42:45):
ahead that that that's why they agreed that this is
nothing that they're concerned about. He's following the NBA protocol
on this. We're cool, we cope, aesthetic, we get it.
And Doc Rivers isn't gonna sit up there and make
up some story. He's just he's just talking. But he
got fined fifty thousand dollars today. So it's interesting. And

(43:06):
I talked to some people around the league today, some
former players, and you know, you always some of them think.
Some of them think that a travel league. I talked
to Earl Watson. Earl Watson tweeted out that the problem
is travel basketball and these kids and they are playing
four and five games a day on weekends in these

(43:28):
crazy games, so you might need drillings over the weekend.
Let me say this to all you basketball people out there,
this is why the five best young players in the
world are from countries outside of America, because while we're
playing games four and five games every doing drills and

(43:49):
ska Ben Simmons, Joel mbeat I knew he started playing
late yannis Onto Dakompo, they were doing drills, they were
getting their fundamentals down. They weren't just playing games and
doing whatever they wanted and so, but that's what some
people think the cases I think Kauai rob has I

(44:13):
think there is maybe some mental block where, you know,
he's only played seventy or more games twice in his
eight year career, and I think he feels because it
went so well last year and even he did get
banged up in the playoffs, but I think he feels
like if he plays too many games that he's going
to get hurt or not have enough left in the

(44:34):
finals or the playoffs or whatever. Um. But it seems
like he's got some type of I don't know if
it's a degenerative knee problem or tendonitis or something beyond tendonitis,
where his doctors are saying, look, you you just shouldn't
play back to backs issue and I can't, is it?

(44:55):
I mean the Lakers could say, look, we're six and one,
we can for to lose a few games. Let's sit
Lebron because we want to keep them healthy. I mean,
this sets such a bad precedent and and my thing
robbing look, and I've said this before low management became

(45:16):
an issue. I think I would love to see the
NBA cut the eighty two games to about sixty two,
sixty five sixty something like that, because I think there'd
be more of a sense of urgency for every game,
The games would me more, they'd be more intense, and
I think it'd be great. A right, And a lot
of players are telling us they can't. Player don't want

(45:39):
to play eighty games anymore. So if that's the case,
let's shorten it. I couldn't disagree with you more than that.
I think that's such a cop out that they can't
play eighty two games over the course of three hundred
and sixty five. They have the entire summer off. Stop
playing in the international stuff. Get rid of that. Stopbody cares. Okay,

(46:00):
stop cheats. Nobody cares about that. Stop cheating the fans.
And and here's the other one, Chris, you want to
make the games count more and have more intensity whatever,
don't cut the amount of games. Cut the amount of
teams that make it to the playoffs to make the
season worth while. So if the season's work wild, no,
I'm telling you, instead of fine, instead of instead of

(46:22):
having that, what about eight total? Now, all of a sudden,
the regular season matter play There is nothing better, including
your little major league, which you're fine, they are. There's
nothing better than the two months of NBA play, Is
it really in the first round where everybody gets We've
seen some threat times we've seen the first round. Yeah,

(46:42):
but we've also been great first round matchups. But we've
also seen some really good one. I just say, if
if I'm gonna make the change, and I'm the commissioner,
I want to make you want to make the regular
season matter where people have to play, then have less
teams in the playoffs. This way, if you're Kawhi, let it.
You can't sit out twenty two games, it matters. This

(47:03):
is what I'm saying. I'll give you that, am I right,
I'll give you that because it wouldn't be a top
four seeds and you couldn't sit out that many games.
And that's all I'm saying. I'd rather do that than
to just say we can only have sixty two NBA
games in three hundred and sixty five. That means three
hundred games, three hundred days a year. They're not playing

(47:23):
a game. I think it's better, like honestly, and I
know you'll hate this. I think baseball and I know
they won't do it for historical reason. On it. They
should go to about one hundred games or eighty something.
It would make each game a lot more interesting, it
would and people more into it. I know money, so
it's not gonna happen, but still Major League Baseball would

(47:45):
be better with half the games, and NBA would be
better with about sixty games. It'd be that much more
interesting every single game. And if the players are telling
us we can't play, Kawhi Leonard is right now the
best player in basket Chris. If you if you were
to make it consequences for not playing on a non

(48:10):
injury and your doctor day's pay, I guarantee you Kawhi
Leonard would be playing. There's no repercussions, there's no there's nothing.
So that's why it's easy to take the night off.
All right, that the team gets fine. He doesn't get fine.
There's nothing that happens to him. I can take the
night off. If you were gonna take the night off
from from the radio show, and then we're gonna dock

(48:32):
you a full day's pay, I guarantee you be here
most nights. You would look you gotta make the guy
have to earn his pay and stop with the with
the paying people not to work. I hear you, because
if you know, if a guy tells you before the season,
I'm playing sixtys, right, then let's pro rate the contract.
Let's pro rate the and then he would be like

(48:52):
if you told him that, he'd be like, ah, nah,
I'm not gonna do that, right. So I'm just saying
that there's gotta be a money thing. And when guys
give full pay and they can take off whenever they
want and are not held accountable. And I get it.
We talked about it before. The reason that these guys
won't play fifteen minutes if they need a night off

(49:13):
blow is they don't want their stats to go down.
Right there, averages would go down if if they didn't
play fifteen minutes and then thedn't put up put up
eight points and they're averaging twenty four, right, that would
drop your scoring average. And I think there are other
ways to low manage and this is the way. Like
everybody brings it back to the Spurs, and I get it.

(49:35):
I get it because the Spurs were definitely the first
team to start this. But if you look at him,
Duncan the first half of his career, he was playing
eighty games many seasons. His second to last year he
played seventy seven. He didn't take off twenty games or
fifteen games, right. They what Popovich did was kept the
minutes like they would play thirty two minutes, thirty three minutes,

(49:58):
thirty minutes. That's Tony Parker's playing like thirty minutes a night,
thirty minutes. So lower the minutes to the low thirties.
But and then if you have to give them practices off,
so be it. That's the way you can low men.
And here's another thing, rob shoot arounds. They started doing
shoot arounds. You know this. I used to go to

(50:19):
shoot arounds off to keep guys from I mean if
they still hang out. But but so they had to
get up in the morning, and they couldn't like like
get lost stay out nights in the morning, knowing you
gotta get up at nine am and go to shoot
around and be coherent. So they did. That was part
of the reason. So what the Spurs would do is
they'd have some shoot arounds right before the game, like

(50:41):
four o'clock rather than in the morning. So there are
other ways you can low manage without a guy having
to miss a game. Totally agree. I just I'm not
gonna buy into this. I think Kawhi is a tremendous player.
I just don't think it's right. I don't think it's fair.
And I think the NBA to kid themselves, and and

(51:03):
and Adam has to nip it in the bub, right,
this has to stop. Yeah, and the god forbid if
this spreads. Right, and we didn't even hear from ESPN,
who couldn't have been happy last night with that? I
did not watch the game last night, Chris. I did
not watch the game. And look at that. You're an
NBA guy, right, I had it on, you know, watch

(51:24):
into it like I would have been right, and the
Clippers played well. I did what I had it on,
so I was paying attention. But you know what I'm saying,
watch looking forward to this game. I was gonna go
after the show last night. So so here's what ESPN had.
They had the Rockets against a Warrior's team when you
couldn't even recognize any of the Warriors players. And then
they had Milwaukee the Clippers without Kauai. I mean, come on,

(51:47):
that had to be a disastrous knife. I mean, thankfully
for them. The Clippers kept it close, right, it was
they only lost by four, right, right? The Clippers played well.
Lou Williams, I mean he missed a lot of shots,
but he scored thirty four or something like that. But uh,
it was yeah, it was just you know, and Yannis
God bless Yannis onto Dakoumpo. He came out and say
it was a story with Chris Haynes, FS one NBA

(52:09):
analysts and Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer where he told
Haynes that Mike bunhoz Er, a disciple of Greg, wanted
to give a bitch one to make him put him
on load management, and Yannis was like, I want to play,
I want to practice. And so what they did is
they've lowered his minutes in games and he's being more
efficient than every He's having his best season ever. It's early,

(52:33):
but he's playing tremendous basketball. That's the way you can
do it. And so one thing I don't want to hear,
rob what's up? It's from the doctors who make and
I'm not a doctor, but from the doctors who may
come out and say all of our tests show that
you know, they can't play eighty two games and I

(52:53):
don't doubt that they're not getting the rest they should get.
Although they have more time to sleep than your average person,
that darn sure if they'll go to sleep, and then
you know they're overworked, because I'll tell you most people
with high achieving jobs or careers are overworked. My wife's

(53:14):
a medical doctor. If she's on call, she may be
up thirty six hours straight, forty eight hours straight, get
four hours sleep in the midst of forty eight hours.
People on the Wall Street, when they first start working there,
they're working one hundred hour weeks. So it doctors, lawyers,
they're all overworked. Some people in our profession overworked. To

(53:36):
be a reporter now, Chris and cover stuff now is
just because you're going to shoot around. You gotta tweet,
and you gotta continue the game. After the games, after
somebody posts something, you gotta you gotta come back with
a story. When when we used to put the paper
to bed at midnight or twelve fifteen, you were done easy.
You could go to the bar, go to hang out
or whatever and not be worried that Chris is gonna

(53:59):
have a story. And I'm a tweet tweeting and I'm
gonna be in trouble tomorrow or I didn't have it.
So you think Adam Schefter and Adam are Adrian Rosowski
are getting enough sleep. Adam has said he hadn't taken
a vacation like seven years, which is crazy. I mean,
so I'm just saying, like, don't single out the basketball players.
Is the only ones who are overworked? All right, what

feels great? What are you talking about? What are you
talking about? Let's go to Adam in Salt Lake City. Adam,

(55:44):
welcome to the eye couple. Thanks for taking my car. Guys.
I think the increased men pom is that they forget
they have starts outside of Los Angeles. They give you
promoting guys. You aren't doing load manager and what happy's
playing the national game? I mean you don't see guys
like Jannas or Donovan Mitchell taking nights off like that.
Why's the NBA putting them in the spotlight? Well, I mean,

(56:07):
Yannis I Milwaukee is on You're right, Utah, they've been one.
They were. In fact, they were on a couple of
weeks ago in the nationally televised game that Kawhi sat out. Yeah,
that was the other game. You're right at them. But
you know what, I think the league is gonna have
to grab hold of this and connip this in the bud.
And the fifty thousand dollars to Doc Rivers is part
of That's what they're like, Oh, we can't go one

(56:29):
day and say one thing and a guy gets up
there and says like like we were lying, because that's
what it sounds like. Eric and Oregon, you're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Hey, man, I appreciate
that you guys taking my call. No sweat. Yeah, So
I think what we should do, man, is lowered down
to seventy games. And I'm a hardcore NBA fan. I'm
a hardcore Portland Trailblazers fan. Man, I've and I'm seeing

(56:52):
all these guys, you know, six games, and I just
think if we bought down to seventy, what you do
is you play everyone in your own conference three time,
you played everyone in the opposite conference twice. That's seventy
two or I'm sorry, seventy two, not seventy eighty two,
I could see. I'd be happy with anything between sixty
and seventy. I think you also could even out the schedule.

(57:14):
I'd like to see him even out the schedule. So basically,
you play everybody three times roughly, and then you could
have just the top sixteen records. The conferences are irrelevant
at this point. Let's go to Johnny and Las Vegas. Johnny,
you're on with the Eye Couple. They love the show, guys.
Thank you, Johnny. Of course, I just want to say,
there's as far as what can we do? Nothing really,

(57:35):
you know, there's not that many players taking load management
days off, thankfully, right, Kawhite, thankfully? Yes. Um. Second, I
feel like it's more of a it's like a player
power issue because I feel like when the Spurs were
doing it, you know, with Tim Duncan Genoblie Parker, it
was a smart move. Oh he pop doesn't want to
show his cards to the Miami Heat when they're playing
on the road. Now that kawhit is doing it for

(57:56):
his own self, it's a player power problem. But people
were upset. Remember when the Spurs sat out that nationally
televised game against the Heat and they were upset because
Papa he sent home. If you remember Duncan, Tony Parker,
mind new Genopli Stern, I remember that. I was actually
I think a quarter of a million dollars exactly. He
was really pissed. I remember that Stern was mad and

(58:20):
they were on a long road trip. It was the
last game of a road trip, and he sent those
guys ahead on a plane. They didn't go toever, you know, yea,
and that was not cool. Dominic in Oakland, you're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Dominic? Hey,
how's it going? Thanks for taking my call, Yes, sir, Yeah,
I think they need to lower the games down to
an amount where there's no back to backs with their

(58:41):
sixty sixty five somewhere in there, because I think a
lot of these players are looking at I talk some people,
you know, I worked with a little younger than me.
And when you mentioned Dirt Kobe, Tim Duncan, some of
these do d ways. Some of the players that were great,
they just remembered them from the last years when they
were banged up, getting twelve points a game, sitting on
the bench, being a mentor. And I think some of

(59:01):
these players once they get to a certain point they realize,
if I keep playing eighty two games, I might be
good for ten years. For the last four or five years,
I'm gonna just be some role player trying to get minutes,
or like Carmel Lands, they're trying to get on the
team or something like that. Carmelo played sixteen years. Carmelo
had a long care I mean, I just I just

(59:24):
fifteenth year, right, But the play a guy is not
the same as the Chris Paul that you get older.
That's just Lebron is an aberration. I mean, he's aged
better than anybody, but Kevin Garnett played a long career.
But you age. I mean, it happens no matter how
many games you play. In this in New York, in

(59:44):
this year with Chris and robb Hey guys a long time. Yeah,
thank you buddy. Yeah, you know, we can't do anything
about the low management. And hey, if I could take
off a quarter of the you know, three months out
of the year and get paid for the full year,
I would do it too. So I mean, you know,
like I'm not gonna blame Kawaii, you know, or any

(01:00:04):
other player that that wants to do it. And it's
let me, let me stop you though, seriously, all right,
let me just stop you. How about how about the
people paid money? Here's my problem. I'm told just to
Chris yesterday, if you told me ahead of time he's
not playing any back to back, so you gave me
games that he will not play, you would give me
an option whether or not I could do right, You

(01:00:27):
could do it. You already know it. If you mapped
out the game and in it I could decide not
to buy season tickets, or I can decide not to
buy tickets to those games. I don't think it's fair
that you know he's not playing, but you didn't divulge
that to me, right, And I'm spending my money. And
it's if there was no ticket sold, and this was

(01:00:47):
just a television thing and people could determine, determine whether
they wanted to turn it on or off. That's something else,
But in it's I don't think that's fair. And are
you thinking of that part? People who spend their hard
armed money worse I am because when I live in
New York and whenever Kobe came out here to play
against the Knicks, you know I always thought tickets. But
you know there were a few times right bought tickets

(01:01:09):
and he wasn't there, And how did you feel nobody
was hurt? Set? Yeah, no, of course I was upset,
but I hate the cost. But you know it's fire beware. No,
but it's different with him to a guy being heard.
If somebody's hurt, if you can't still can't get But
I still can't get a refund for that. No, But
I'm telling you that if enough people start to complain
about this, this is going to be an issue. Yeah,

(01:01:31):
but if Kawhi, if Kawai played last night and he
got hurt, what about the people tonight they're gonna miss out. Well,
of course we don't want anybody to get hurt, but
that's a rock you're taking playing any of this exactly
what happened. You're just taking a night off. I mean,
can you give up your money so you could get
we could give refunds all the people came to see you.
All Right, The forty nine ers are undefeated, but that

(01:01:52):
doesn't mean they're the best team in football. Super Bowl
champion Greg Jenny's will explain next. But first, Fox Sports
Radio has the best sports talk line up in the nation.
Catch all of our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot
com and within the iHeart Radio app search f s
R to listen live, Rob, just sit down, coming to
you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's

(01:02:14):
easy to say fifteen percent of more on your car
insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or call
eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The only horror part
finding out which way is easy. See him in there,
jumping around because they got an interception. I see him
in his little size sixteen boys Husky Kreem Khalil Mack shirt,

(01:02:36):
muscles bulging. It's meant for a twelve year old, Rob,
twelve year old. All right, let's bring in our man,
super Bowl champion. Fox NFL analysts one of our favorite people,
Jenny heg Jamie, what's up? Man? Are you was happenings happening? Hey?
Can we ask you something real quick? Bill on the
NBA always man, what do you make of this? The

(01:03:00):
whole load management, and then the NBA finding Doc Rivers,
who basically said he was healthy and there's nothing wrong
with him, and the NBA had signed off the night
before saying he has a knee issue and we're in
lockstep with the Clippers. I mean Greg, as a basketball fan,
how much did him not playing enough marquee matchup just
kind of turn you off to the game last night?

(01:03:23):
Not at all, Not at all when I looked at
what he was able to do last year and with
the load management and understanding his own body. And that's
one thing, as players would, especially when you're a veteran guy.
Coaches are gonna trust that you know your body, and
you have to communicate what Kawhi Leonard was able to
do last year and would it afforded the franchise of Toronto,

(01:03:46):
the Toronto Raptors. I'll take that every year if I'm
the LA Clippers. Yeah, you sound like somebody who hasn't
paid for a ticket in twenty years. How dare you
disrespect the fans? Now? I'm not disrespecting the fans. I'm
given the fans what they won't when it count. Baby, Well,
look we we could go all day on the low management.

(01:04:07):
I don't really like it. If he's hurt, he's hurt,
and if you got to manage it, you gotta manage it.
I got last year because he was coming off a
year in which you only played nine games, so it
was kind of maintenance. But is it gonna be that
way for the restaurant's career? Like, I believe this is.
I believe this is. I mean it's it's proven to work. Obviously,
he's gonna we all know it. Only it only worked

(01:04:30):
because Clay Thompson got oh, stop and KD. But really, Clay, no,
it only worked. It only worked because it only worked
because stuff had to lead the way and that wasn't
gonna last. Let's get to the NFL. Stop this in,
the best small player of all. Stop it, I said, Tom,
Let's get to the NFL. Greg Um, San Francisco eight. No,

(01:04:52):
but do you doubt that they're the best team in football? Um?
You know what I like San Francisco. I like that
they do a lot of things really well. What I
don't like and why I will not put them into
the category of simply being the best team in all
of football, is because Jimmy Garoppolo. Like, I love what

(01:05:12):
he's been able to do and how he's been able
to get them into the win column and stack success. However,
if I'm breaking them down by category and by unit,
he is one of the weaker links on that roster
because he hasn't proven that they can win just solely
on his arm, which they don't need to right now.

(01:05:33):
But when you start to get deep in the season,
it's specifically playoff football, teams are going to start taking
away a lot more of what you do well and
exposing what you don't do so well. And he hasn't
been proven to be an elite passer in this league
quite yet. Greg, would you, if you're the Chiefs, would
you give Mahomes one more week? Right? And then they
have to buy, don't they? Man? Right? Would you give

(01:05:55):
him another week plus the buye week before bringing him
back so because he also had the ankle along with
the knee, or if he's ready to go, you're playing
him this week. I really would give him one more week.
And again, I understand he's a young player and he's
gonna want to get out there immediately. They want him
back out there. But if we're thinking what they can

(01:06:17):
potentially do in the long run is win a championship,
you're gonna need him fully healthy. You're going into a
buy If you can get by with the Titans this
week on the road, You've played well with Matt Matt Moore,
your defense has stepped up astronomically, so I like him

(01:06:37):
sitting this week going into a buy to give him
an extra a week of arrest. We are joined by
Greg Jenny's the Super Bowl champion. Fox NFL analyst Greg
Colin Cowherd, our colleague has been pushing that the Browns
should trade ob J. There was an article that came
out today saying a couple of executives said, look, if

(01:06:58):
this continues in Cleveland, something's going to hit the fan.
Do you think that the brown should consider getting rid
of OBJ and what would and what would his market
value if if they did so, they definitely should consider it,
simply because when you start hearing grumbling like that, it's
going to eventually happen. Trust me, if they don't start winning,

(01:07:21):
it's gonna happen. But when I look at why it's
not working, it's not it's not because of ob J.
But when you add what he brings from a financial
cap hit, has he been worth it? And he has not,
Whether that's because of the offensive line, Baker Mayfield going

(01:07:42):
in reverse instead of going forward, whatever the case is.
You look at that staple in that piece and say,
how were we without him? And can we look, will
we look better moving forward if we didn't have this piece,
And what the value is that we can get coming
in Because he's still a young player, he's looked upon

(01:08:03):
as one of the best in the league at what
he does. Can we get the value? And you ask
about the value, he's still a first round guy. If
you can trade him or you can empty him, you
can still get high value for Odell Beckham. My NBA
smart partner Chris Bussar pick, of course the Browns to

(01:08:24):
make it to the playoffs. Get I'm talking how surprised
are you where they are? I mean, I think people
thought have a tough schedule early, but they got the
cupcakes later on and then they faced Denver with a
quarterback would never started a game in the NFL and
they lose. I don't think they're making the playoffs. Can

(01:08:45):
they rebound or what's wrong with this team? Greg? Yeah?
You know what, I don't think that they will make
the playoffs because even the Steelers without of Ben Roethlisberger
and the pieces they're missing, they still look pretty stout
and so not that they will do anything deep, but
they still got to get over that hurdle. And what

(01:09:06):
I don't like about the Cleveland Browns is just they
are not winning the games that they should, regardless of
the chemistry, regardless of how long they've been together or
how short they've been together. You put guys like this
on a roster and just talent alone sometimes can win
you games. I get it. Preparation, the coaching, all that

(01:09:27):
goes into it when it comes to winning the important
games and the marquee matchups, you gotta have all those
things clicking. But sometimes look here, guy, if we got talent,
we are you are better than the guy across from you,
Beach her Man. Let's get to win, and they haven't
been able to do that. Greg, we got about thirty
to forty five seconds. A lot of talk now about
Lamar Jackson being MVP. I think it's Russell Wilson right now,

(01:09:51):
who do you think is the MVP of the first half?
It's clearly Russell Wilson with the way he's been playing.
His team is having success. Obviously, Lamar got the huge
win last week against the New England Patriots. Um so
it his resume just looks very appealing. But when you
when you take all the flash and a while out

(01:10:13):
of what he's been able to do. And you look
at Russell Wilson and what he is doing, taking a
defensive organization the last seven years and flipping them into
an offensive juggernaut based on his skill set. And the
guys around him are Tyler Lockett. I love him. I

(01:10:35):
love what he's been able to do. But he's not
he's not a marquee guy that you think of outside
on the perimeter when you think of number one guys,
and that's what Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson has to work with.
He is doing a phenomenal job. He's the MVP of
the National Football League right now. He's our man super
Bowl champion. Greg Jenny's great stuff. Man. We appreciate it.

(01:10:56):
I appreciate it. Guys, Bay next week off lord management
and you'll get paid. That's all right, all right, great,
appreciate you. It's our most controversial segment of the week's
Shop Talk Next Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Greg Jamie's
be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

(01:11:17):
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app. It is the eye couple of Christ and
Robs shop talkers. No, no, we are not singing limits
of life for me. Come off spreading out so far

(01:11:38):
and wide. Keep Manhattan. Just give me that Countryside. Go ahead,
Yuca's word. Rather now you might get allergic smelling. Hey,
I just the door a pantiles view Darling. I love you,
but give me fock Avenue. All right, there we got finally,

(01:12:02):
Yes TV theme song Thursday Parker, all right, I love
that is next nobody. Ain't you know that? Ain't nobody
you would talk about whoever, whatever, whatever you want to
in a box. It's shop talk, Yes, sir, this shop
talk the couple Fox Sports Rader. We do this every
single Thursday at eight forty five pm Eastern, when we

(01:12:25):
talk about something that was trending outside of the world
of sports. This week's topic involves two of Rob Parker's
favorite things, high end luxury items and sneakers. Who me,
Prada and Adidas are joining forces for a yet to
be determined collaboration. Rumor has it's gonna be a pair

(01:12:45):
of shoes, or at least two different pairs of shoes.
But it got me thinking, guys, what are two brands
or two things that you wouldn't think go together that
you would like to see coming together for some kind
of collaboration. It's you you kind of like when peanut
and chocolate met for the first time and then you
got the cup. The rest was history, right, Yeah, So
what would you like to see, um, something with Magic

(01:13:10):
City coming together? I think you mighty thing coming together
with me? Like you know, I can wait to wait?
Is that what you're saying. It's like I could go
to Magic City Auto Dealers, Yeah, and have my car,
my car detailed, my oil change, my rod played with.
I mean, you know, I'm a little moist. You remember you,

(01:13:32):
I remember my beer Tomorrow. You might not be. It
might be the odd ball tomorrow. But I mean like
to be able to go there and I'm like, you know,
getting a laptans or whatever and the cars being detailed
while I wait. How about that, I'll put them together?
What about you? Chris, Chris wants a chocolate Chris wants

(01:13:55):
a Bible that's chocolate, so you could eat it while
you're reading the word. I do that anyway. I eat
and read the word. Um I think, uh, I don't know.
I mean McDonald's fries are the best in the world,
so maybe McDonald's fries. Look at DJ Tyshon's shaking his head. Dude,
those are the worst. Oh my god, McDonald be good,

(01:14:17):
I know. Don't give me all the health stuff. All right,
we know you're a vegan. I'm just saying, can actually
eat those? Those are so McDonald's fries and like BW
Buffalo Wild Wings soaking you have the chicken. I'm just
throwing out because I couldn't think of anything else, but yeah,

(01:14:38):
that would be cool. You know you get hot fries
in McDonald's all the time. How I go in and
I order h fries with no salt, so they have
to fry me a fresh batchel a fried. And then
I asked them for suld to eat salt. No, I
love salt. I just want my fries to be hot,
and that's how you do it, and they have to
give you a fresh fried. My cheese was hot cheese.

(01:15:03):
What about you, rob Gee? What do you got? Now?
These are two really different things, but I'm surprised they've
never come together before. I would like to see Mexican
coke with you know, the ones in the bottle. You've
seen it. Mexican yeah, that's have not seen it. It's
real sugar glass bottle. Yes, and it's real sugar. Yes.
I mean you get a buzz from that. Now here's
the thing. I would like to see that in a

(01:15:26):
fountain drink dispenser. Man. Now, I don't know why it
hasn't happened yet. I feel like it's a choice. That's
just something that will work out. I mean you could
do that. No that I know, it's some some grass.
Go for what else? Seaweeds? Sweed and uh open by

(01:15:49):
water fountains, they have some seaweeds you could pick up
in pretty sure you can drink the water. What do
you got you know? And I don't want to say
it now say it? Come on, I actually don't know.
That's this is a hard one right off the top
of your head. Yeah, I'm sure I could come with
something better than you know, Buffalo Wild and McDonald's fries.
But off the top of my dome, that's tough. Yeah,

(01:16:11):
to try to put some stuff together. Hop about the
Popeye's biscuit and uh, what's the other one that has
the great cheddar cheese biscuits? A red Lobster Red Lobster's biscuits,
which one. Oh, that would be good too. I tell yeah.

(01:16:32):
I do like the collaboration of the movies where you
can eat in the movies. Can you have you eating
a dog? Food's not great. You can't eat in the dark, No,
I can't eat My mom always told me not to
eat in the dark. You gotta know what And plus
the screen is what if there's a bug there and
you can't see, like underneath the button there's a bug

(01:16:53):
in there, that's a roach. Stop it. You don't know
what you're eating. And then all of a sudden, I
complain is the food is subpark because they know you're
going to see a movie, so they don't generally make
the food. So Chris will finish this sandwich. And then
he realized that McDonald's fries and a movie theater. Now
that big Max steal you Still, yeah, I think I

(01:17:18):
got something for you. That's one I had a tail
on it. I wouldn't want to have a show hosted
by somebody like Chris Brussard mixed with Rob Parker. If
that'd be possible, my man, we could do that. We
could call it the Odd Couple. Fox Sports Radio has
the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all
of our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com and

(01:17:40):
within the iHeartRadio app search f s R to listen live.
It is the odd couple. I'm Chris, he is ride.
We're coming to you live from the Geico Fox fifteen
minutes because they've you fifteen percent of them on your
car and shorts. Visit Geico dot com for free rate quote.
We got trolling a rolling with Martin Wiss. Wiss is

(01:18:02):
actually in studio now cracking jokes and stuff like that,
so we'll we'll have that at the bottom of the hour,
so definitely stay tuned for that. He didn't bring any
food for anybody, just himself. I'm starving to night of course.
Why the Raiders and the mediocre? The mediocre Raiders and

(01:18:24):
the Los Angeles charged? Why are you doing rolls at it?
They're up ten old, the Raiders up ten nothing looking good.
If they win the night rob they won't be the
definition of mediocre. How about that? And they've gotten a
lot of and four what does mediocre mean? Average? Philip
Rivers a guy you like better than Eli Manning through
two picks so far tonight definitely a better what's Helie doing?

(01:18:48):
I would tell all right, and what is Helies taking notes?
And what is Philip Rivers? Daniel? He's throwing back, he's
throwing picks. The still waiting for big championship of Philip
Rivers Super Bowl Trophy? Do you deny? I would not
take Philip Rivers has been a better regular season? Asked me?

(01:19:09):
No answer this. I already know he's a better regular season.
That's but I would take. I would take Eli Manning
ten times out of ten times over Philip Rivers. I
would take Eli's career, that's what you would I would
take because he got two super Bowls, but he's had
some atrocious seasons, all right. He wanted to take his
two super Bowls over Philip rivers career. I would. I

(01:19:32):
wouldn't take his his career over Dan Marinos. Oh, I
was a good one. You would take Eli's career, Dan Marino,
because I want to win a super Bowl and to
win two and two? Uh super Bowl MVPs. It's not
like you lucked in and you were you were Brad
Johnson and it was all about the defense and all
you did was not make a turnover. Then I would
take Dan Marino's career, Dan Marines. I would take a

(01:19:55):
sure fire. Once he's already in the Hall of Fame
fire Hall of Famer. ELI will probably get in. But
you know there's a lot of doubters. You know that
probably he will get in, a lot of doubters out there. No,
I think you'll get in. But our guy Rod Woodson
is like, I'm never going back to Canton. He's gonna

(01:20:16):
if he gets in, he's gonna regret that back. Be careful,
all right. So also we talked about Antonio Brown and
we we look, I don't want to make the dou pitiful,
but we feel sorry for him, like one got something
going on. Yeah, I don't even really want to just
sit here and talk about doctors were never examined him.

(01:20:37):
We don't know anything about the inner workings. But it
seems like the way he lashes out all the time
and like he's right on the b and apologizes like
he's he's all over the place and I'm my thing robbed.
Where are the people around him? Where are his loved ones?
His mom, his you know, I don't know if he
is he married to that he's got a baby mama,

(01:20:59):
no maced right, Oh, I think there was a divorce
or something going on. He got some people in his life,
but they can't control they can't control his phone. My.
I mean, this is unbelievable. You know, there's all kinds
of people like that, A lot of people Chris who
are doing bad things, who are out in the street.
When that crack epidemic hid, right, they had pete parents

(01:21:22):
and sisters and brothers, and you couldn't stop people. All
I'm saying is you you you wish you could control people.
I'm just saying, yeah, he I understand what you're saying,
that you wish somebody would be able to corral ahimn
And no, I know, I'm just saying, but there are
people out there who have people who love them and
they just can't You can't stop. That's a grown man.

(01:21:44):
Grown man, what are you gonna do? Making money? He's
probably taking care of a lot of the people and
what they're gonna tell him? Right? All right? But anyway,
the first half of the NFL season is over, and
Rob Park and I made some preseason predictions. Let's see
how we're doing. Let's can't I can't get over how
good I am when it comes to the NFL. Rob,
I'm still picking games about Rob g I'm not gonna

(01:22:08):
spoil it, but you have made two picks that are
just ludicrous. You've made a five picks loud, no, not five.
And I'm still alive too. So let's let's go ahead
and go there. That's right, guys, we're gonna get started here.
This is the mid season view of the NFL from
the odd couple. Each team has officially played eight games,
but before we can look ahead, we got to look back.

(01:22:29):
Let's start off with what you guys had in the
AFC West. Chris Brussard had the Chiefs winning it with
the Chargers of the wild card feeling good. Rob Parker
had the Chargers winning it with the Chiefs is the
wild Card feeling good? How that really? How you feel
about the Chargers gonna win the division? Is a season over?
It ain't over now, but seriously, they could win the division.

(01:22:51):
Winning the division? Well, you know, looking away before if
they put my Holmes back and another game losing to
the mediocre Oakland Raid, it's ten nothing. It's a game over.
With thirteen and a half, two possessions and the second
quarter you got three quarters, just saying they're losing. This
is the team you picked I'm gonna say it. All

(01:23:11):
I'm saying is Mahomes. The last time we saw I
look at your Super Bowl, Rob g. The last time
we saw Mahomes they were losing two in a row, correct,
So I wouldn't bring him back this Patrick Mahomes just saying,
I feel god, I won that one. It's Patty touchdowns.
I won that one. I'm gonna win that beat one

(01:23:32):
and he might actually still might do why not Hena,
but he still might do it. I won that one clearly.
AFC West goes to bring move on now to the
AFC East. Chris Brussard had the Patriots again, also had
the Patriots, but what else did he have? But Rob
Parker did have. The New York gets victory. Howard's out

(01:23:57):
of victory because you picked the Jets. The Jets. Wait
till you look at some of you just lost to
the Dolphins. Ride, but you look at your picks. I'm
up to old AFC West and AFC East. You're gonna
win something. I know some the Jets and them Stown.

(01:24:18):
What possessed you to pick the New York Jets to
make the playoff. We don't have time, robbed up. We
got time to move on. I mean I didn't know that.
He doesn't know. I didn't know that Willie Nilly. I
didn't know that Sam ron No, I don't know that
Sam Grono was gonna kiss an eighteen year old girl
in college. You're saying, right, get Mono or whatever you got.
I just didn't know that. Yeah, that's the reason they're

(01:24:39):
one in seven is since you don't know. I know,
because Rob Parker's bragging him siventy one percent, m siventy
one percent. Here's how he picks his makes his picks.
He puts on it. He's got a dartboard at his
house with all of the teams on him, and he
puts on the blindfold and throws the dart at it,
and wherever it lands, that's who he picks. And it

(01:25:01):
landed on the Jets making the playoffs. And normally it's
your face on the dark board, but during football season,
I change it up. Craig Melvin, your boy, We move
on AFC South. Neither one of you guys really nailed
this one. Chris had the Jags. Rob at the colt.
Who's closer the coach should be? Ain't no, it ain't

(01:25:22):
no draw the Jags aren't making the playoffs. The coach
are gonna make the playoffs. I'll give you that one.
How the Cold's gonna make the plaff when the Raiders
is gonna make the playff No, then not stop it,
but hold on. They're five and three and four and four.
I'll give you that one. They should be at No.
If it wasn't from old man Adam Vinatari, I'll give
you that one. Go ahead, all right. We move on

(01:25:43):
now to the AFC North. Now this is where the
whitewash begins. Oh really, yeah, okay. Chris Broussard had the
Pittsburgh Steelers. They're not making the playoffs. No, No, they're
very much in the playoffs. The mediocre Chris according much medioca.
They're only four and four, they've won three straight. Mike
Tomlin has them please ball, all right, but it gets bad.

(01:26:06):
The wild card pick for Chris Brussar was the Cleveland
Brown Have you seen their schedule coming off there? Very
much alive. They could go ten and six. Yeah right,
we saw him good, We saw them. Just played in
Denver Broncos for the first time started quarterback. I called
Baker mayfid that the day you know what he told
me I'm feeling dangerous. I believe believe Land that's right,

(01:26:32):
that's right. I'm not backing off. They're better than the Jets.
I'll tell you that. All they just by one game
by one game, and they got all that talent. Yeah,
I embarrassed. Rob Parker picked it when the AFC North
Lamar Jackson and the ball, Yes, sir, give me that.
We'll give you that with that's high salute. I knew
it would be them. We'll give you that. We've been

(01:26:53):
moving west. Chris Brussard had the Seattle Yeah. Yeah, boy, yeah,
you got to say about that, huh okay whatever, Yeah,
I got damn hand the MVP. Rob had the Seahawks
as the wild card I had to making the playoffs.

(01:27:14):
He also had the law MS. All they gotta do
with is run the table. And then just as Chris
made the big said they weren't going to make the playoffs.
No time, no playoffs. Don't be stealing my line. Why
are you gonna steal my no to you? So stop it?

(01:27:37):
Everybody think I now thinking you originated. I am the
originator of stopping stopping. Who hasn't better stop it? Rot
to stop it? All right, as we move on. I'm
up three two NFC East four two? How are you up?
Because the division? Right now? Rob had the Eagles winning

(01:28:01):
this one, had the Eagles as the wild card because
he had the division leading Cowboys coming out. They were
up by one game. What are they one game? That's
all it takes, Rob, They're not game. They lost to
the Jets that that for that reason alone, they will
not make the playoffs. Right now, they're up. First half

(01:28:21):
of the season, they're up. What you're talking about a route?
I'm killing you. I'm up four two. No you're not.
I'm up four two. Let's move on, Rod. This next
one was easy, and so you guys both had the Saints.
Even an NBA guy could pick this one. I'm gonna
keep moving, so I should have stayed. Again, you guys
had this one as well. If you hit on one,

(01:28:41):
you missed on the other. Chris had the Packers winning
the division, which looking good. Well, you also both had
the Bears as the wild card. That's because Chris copied
my paper right here. I don't know why why you
both believe that miss Rubisky is beyond me. I don't
get it. Well, they got a great defense, they got
a greatf that's not a bad pick. That's not Their

(01:29:02):
defense is good. They're wasting it with a bad quarterback. Raiders,
keep talking about your Browns. Chris, he thought, hey, I
believe believe. Well, now now was gonna get tricky because
moving out to the individual awards, now, this is where
we had some off the wall kind of picks. Offensive
Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Rob

(01:29:24):
Parker at Aaron Rodgers, Hey, I'm close, Chris rum Sord,
Patrick Maholy injury, could do no injured. Hey, it was
game before he got injured. Remember the zero touchdowns? You
remember that game. This is the guy who was supposed
to he wasna he wasn't gonna I told you zero touchdown.

(01:29:47):
I told you he wasn't gonna good to forty and
I'm right, just me winsured just because he got injured,
it don't matter. It's called foot miss games and he
still almost has me touchdowns? Is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron's got seventeen.
You could change your pick. Now, who would you pick
uh to? Right now? My Offensive Player of the Year

(01:30:09):
is Russell Wilson. I would stay with Aaron rod I
don't want a flip flopper like there's no no, just
the flip flop. But I'm telling you I wouldn't flip
flop is not winning Offensive Player of the Year. He's
just not no love for Christian mccaffree. What happened at
his school day? No, they did not score. Almost do

(01:30:30):
another pick? All right, let's move on. I'm routing them
defensive player four to me, Chris Brussard had Khalil Mack.
You're not gonna win it, but I'm not. You know,
I'll stay about either one of you hit this had
Aaron Donald I didn't work out. It's gonna work out
for either either one of them or here's the route.
Here's where I'll give him this one offensive offensive rookie

(01:30:53):
of the yead Alex Chris Bruce sorr At Danny Dimes.
Danny who is that? Danny Penny is more like it.
He's been a bust after the first week when they'd
beat Tampa Bay. He's a rookie now hurt. If the
Giants could put Eli Manning back in, they would right now.
That's how bad Danny dying from North Carolina whoever he's from.

(01:31:16):
And Rob really nailed this one. Josh Ja he's been bawling.
You gave him that one. He didn't even know who
josh Y. I did too. I followed in the room,
Rob g who you know what? He said? Hey, you
guys got that running back right there? I want to
get that guy. I couldn't remember his day, but I
knew they had a good young running back, bragging on
you didn't even know his name. I'm all right? Did

(01:31:36):
I know? All right? I got this one. We keep
it moving. Defensive Rookie of the Year Rob Parker had
Devin White. He's doing good, great job, he's all right.
But who Chris nailed this one? He had Nick Both
Thank you? Thank you? Five to three Bruce Hard Most
Valuable Player Chris Bruce Sard had Pat Mahone. I feel

(01:32:00):
good about homemark. Now you don't feel good about him? He?
Are you kidding me? A winning Aaron has a better
Who has a better chance? Aaron Rock? Just seven and two?
Seven and two? Does my man? Thank you? Because it's hurt.
It ain't about being hurt. We're always trying to win
a bet because of venge. No, I'm not the lebrine,
but you actually wanted me to buy you some Jordan.

(01:32:22):
You should everybody over its hurt. I'm not Vegas. I'm one.
Raise your hand if you think that, where your hand?
If you take that? Chris owes me Jordan's Martin didn't.
Here's the big hands, the biggie look Lelijah raised his hand.
No he didn't, he did. Let's do it again. Martin's

(01:32:43):
Caddy raised his hand. Let's do it again, go ahead,
Rob Gi, super Bowl, superst one here, super Bowl Chris Brussard.
Two teams still in the running. The Chiefs over the Cowboys.
Cowboys an't even make it a playoff, very much into running.
My pick is looking good, Rob Parker, about fifty percent.

(01:33:04):
You had the Packers over the charge I got over.
Who let me hear that again? Over who the charge?
They're not out of it. They limited, it's over, stot over,
They're done. Host. No champions here? What the champions here?

(01:33:26):
The champions here? Alexagon seventy one persent Brusard in a knockout,
just like Ali. That's right, this was a rumble in
the jungle. Brother Ali boom by a Bruisard, boom by
a Bruisard boom by a odd couple. We'll be back

(01:33:48):
in a few minutes. We're going nowhere. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard
and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
It is The I Couple, Christ and Rob on a
TV theme show Thursday. You heard us just go over
our preseason picks and we want to throw it out

(01:34:12):
to you. My Super Bowl pick was Kansas City over Dallas,
which is looking pretty good, and Roles was Green Bay
over the Los Angeles Charged Chargers. How could you say
that the Chiefs Cowboys is pretty good. They're both still alive.
The Charges are still a lot. They haven't been They're on.
They're on. Do you remember what they did last year?

(01:34:34):
They ran off eighth trade, They ran off to their
second half team. We're throwing it out to you who
right now? Forget your preseason pick. You can change it
right now after the first half of the season. Who
is your pick to reach the Super Bowl? You gotta
call in now if you want to get in eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven, nine nine,

(01:34:57):
six sixty three sixty nine. It is The Odd Couple
Chris and Rob and we will entertain your calls, but
really don't rob um how you feeling about those two?
I mean, chart all jokes aside the struggle, right, the
Packers have a shot. Theredn't no doubt about it, um
so and they you know, they had a dut against

(01:35:19):
the Chargers and the Chargers won that game. If somehow
they come back and win the night and get a
streak going. Last year, they had a great streak at
the end of the year, Chris, and they were really
good last year and they went to New England they
got their heads handed to him. So it'll be interesting
to see if they could bounce back and if they
can get on track. But I don't expect. I don't know,
but I don't expect that right now. So I got

(01:35:42):
half of it. I still feel good about the Green
Bay pick. And I think we both thought that Aaron
Rodgers would bounce back and you know what I mean,
if he stayed healthy, and I didn't expect he did
that year. And he's having a good year, Yeah, he
really is. I don't think you'll be the MVP, but
he's in the he's top five, and you don't know,
right unless lower part of the top five unless you

(01:36:03):
never know. If he has another big game right which
he's only got two interceptions, if he able to have
a four or five touchdown game again, he needs something
like that, a couple of those, and he could be uh,
I don't know what else eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox. When I think about it over, you still
feel good about the Chiefs, even though the defense was
really bad to start the season. It was, and it's

(01:36:25):
actually I feel like it's been a little bit better
because it was so bad. The only thing is Chris
him there for the taking though you know that, Yeah, right,
I mean nobody, even New England. He's not a Layoup.
I don't think it's a layoup. It's Kansas City, New England.
Baltimore could certainly be a spoiler. I like Baltimore only

(01:36:46):
from the standpoint that they do have a squad that
could play some defense. And if Lamar Jackson played like
he played Sunday was Sunday Night. Bill Belichick said, he's
a problem. But we saw it last year where now
granted he was a rookie, he didn't know as much
as he knows. He won that first game and then
when they were right him, the second time was Yeah,

(01:37:07):
they were the only team to see him twice. When
they did, they were able to stop him. Yep. So
but yeah, you can't write off the Ravens. But outside
of those three, you know, then you got the Texans
or Indianapolis. I don't feel great about it either. I
still think that Texans. It depends on what. You know,
what Deshaan Watson you get, he's great, he could be spectacular.

(01:37:28):
If you get him on a good night, Chris or
a good game, you could be in trouble. Yeah, but
I don't see them going in the fox Borough, you know,
and beating beating the Patriots, and I don't see it
like they did beat the Chiefs. That'd be a good game.
But uh, yeah, I feel good about it. I just
told the Cowboys you're giving them any shot. No, I
don't think they don't look that good, but they they'll

(01:37:50):
be in the mix right there. He wouldn't pick him
right now. That's something that just doesn't even when they win.
They lost to the Jet two. Inconsistent, that's my problem,
the very inconsistent. Even when they beat the Giants, they
started off like really yucky and you were like, what's
going on here? And then they wind up throttling them
in the second half. All right, let's go to Trent
in Louisiana. Trent, you're on with Chris and Rob. Who's

(01:38:11):
your super Bowl pick at this point? Hey, man, if
you remember I called back a year a couple of
months ago, I said heard coach called the Saints dead
last year before they give him start than robbed said
that I was crazy for thinking that the Saints are
going to the Super Bowl. I got the Saints and
the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Rubies is arrested, that
that thumbm injury was a blessing in the skies. The

(01:38:31):
Saints are gonna beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl
this year. That's now does my initial they Trent? Are
they gonna be referees at the NFC Championship Game. We're
gonna pay them off this time. Man, We're finally gonna
get us one. Man. You know, Rob, I was born
in Louisiana. Saint who that nation in the house. You

(01:38:54):
would have saved one going to get born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
You would have saved one wearing bags over your head,
wouldn't they would have Ain't all I know is I'm
a part of who that nation? Another pick by the Raiders.
Oh there's a flag? Is that out to the fact.
Let's go to Joseph in Indiana. Joseph, you're on with
the outcome? YEA doing right? What's up man? I didn't
I have the forty nine Ers over the Patriots. I

(01:39:17):
believe that if Jimmy g would the feat come break,
that would ruin his legacy. Wait, wait, Joseph ruined Tom
Brady's legacy. It wouldn't. They wouldn't ruin it, but it
would damage it cannot be ruined. Joseph. You know that? Well, yeah,
I ain't of that. But Jimmy Garoppolo, it be an

(01:39:37):
insult too. What Brady didn't the guy that Brady wanted out,
that Belichick wanted it. Now, it would be yeah, I
get that, it wouldn't. You overstated it, But yeah, it
would be a bad look, no doubt you. Rob. Rob
Parker would be all over it. I would be in heaven.
I'd be at the station at four am waiting for
US show. It'd be a bad kid. Let's go to

(01:39:59):
Max in Georgia. Max, what's up man? Nice picture too? Hey,
thank you? We saw a picture wearing that odd couple hat.
Very very nice. That was on the nice hat man.
The beautiful quality, yes, new era than getting some sweatshirts too,
with some hoodies to go with it. All right, that
where you gotta go to get that where you gotta

(01:40:20):
go to order, going to get rob dot com. There
you go, my man, match. You need to start charging
rod Man Max. What you got? Max? So I'm thinking
it's a rematch of the Super Bowl. I'm a Ravens fan,
have been since ninety nine, but I think the Niners
are gonna edge us out this year. Um you look
at the total yards and especially rushing this year one

(01:40:41):
and two. I think rushing and defense is gonna show
its head again. It's always proven the work, so why
let the passing game stop it? Now? That's leg It's
not bad, no, not, but you know no, but that's
what you can dream. I mean, it's not outside of
the realm of possibility. So all of a sudden, look
with the scores now that down ten nothing, those Bolts

(01:41:02):
are back, baby, well they if they win, they'll be mediocre.
They'll be five and five and rob Ge sorry, the
Raiders will be piss poor four and five is piss poor.

It's easy to say fifteen percent or more on your
car insturments with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or
call eight hundred and nine four seven Auto. The only
hard part is figuring out which way is easier. It's
time patrolling or rolling with Martin White, Tom Brady, he's done.

(01:41:50):
Aaron Rodgers did not have a Pro Bowl season. China
gets me. It's trolling or Rolland that's right, Chris, it's
saring for trolling or rolling, and get down. For those
who are unfamiliar with the segment. If Chris and Rob
liked the sound like the story, you're here. You hear
the roll sound. And if they don't, you hear the
troll sound. Oh man, hey, hey, hey, let's get right

(01:42:14):
to it now. Dez Briant hasn't been in the news
really since the free agent receiver signed with the New
Orleans Saints last season, but in his first practice, he
obviously popped his achilles. The injury came with an expected
eight month recovery, which would have put him back on
the field in July, and now a full year removed.
Brian is attempting to return to the NFL in some

(01:42:34):
capacity before the end of the season. He tweeted, quote,
I'm not trying to go nowhere and be a starter
on a team. I want to contribute because I know
I will and be able to. I'm feeling good. In
two weeks' gonna reach out the teams and see what happens. Rob,
Are you trolling or rolling? Dez has come back at ten?
I'm rolling with him. Why not? If he feels he

(01:42:56):
can still play and got something left. All these teams
need receivers out here. People are desperate for a receiver.
Why not. He's still young enough to me to have
another opportunity. And you know what if he can't make it, Chris,
he tried it. Yeah, I'm rolling with him. I mean,
more power to him. Do I think he's gonna go

(01:43:16):
somewhere and like the world on fire? No? I don't.
I really don't even expect to see him back in
the league. But I get He's only thirty one. You know,
he'll give it a shot. The Saints did take a
chance on him and he got hurt, so somebody might
be willing to give him a shot. I'm not optimistic
for him, but I like the uh, the gumption and

(01:43:37):
us not. He's still like he's started forty years old,
trying to chase that he actually should be doing this.
He should be trying. I love the effort. It's not
gonna happen. Troll roll Fox Sports Radio. I like to
call it being realistic. Now. The Lakers roared back from
down seventeen in the first half to pull out a

(01:43:58):
win in the house that Jordan built on two Uesday
against the Bulls, but that wasn't the only w Lebron
got that night. As a Bulls fan was heckling the
Lakers time out huddle, Lebron took time out from his
triple double level performance to dunk on the fan, saying, quote,
your lady is embarrassed to be with you, Chris, Are
you trolling or rolling? Lebron talking back to the haters.

(01:44:19):
I'm rolling with him, you know what I mean? The
fans that's not outside of the realm of you know, decency, right,
A fan could say that to a player and they
wouldn't get the NBA wouldn't take them out of the
game or anything like that. So I'm fine with it
if the you know, the fans can yell stuff at
the players within limits, the players can yell stuff back

(01:44:41):
at them within limits. Lebron probably did it with a
smile on his face too. I'm trolling, oh man, Lebron.
Is this like all time great player? He's worried about
some Joe Schmo in the stands. Seriously, Lebron, focus on
your free throws. His name wasn't all right, whatever it is.

(01:45:02):
I just don't understand why you would waste your time
on a heckling fan, as if that's gonna change something.
Let it go. If I'm a player like Lebron, I
don't even hear the fan. Why are you worried about
Joe fan? Is that he's not Joe. Whatever's name is
is fan Joe. But I mean, come on, Lebron stock
anything other than Joe, Joe Bron, John Doe. I just

(01:45:28):
don't understand why Lebron would be bothered by somebody yelling
something in the stands. Trolling a rolling odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. Now, the NBA season is still young,
but as of yesterday, Doc Rivers is done with the
new Coaches Challenge rule. There have been seventy challenges and
only twenty five cars have been overturned, for a whopping
thirty six percent. Doc personally is only one two. After

(01:45:51):
a very very very questionable offensive foul on Clipper guard
Lou Williams, the players, the coaches, the fans in the
arena all disagree with the call. Seems like everybody in
fact disagree with the call except for the ref. Doc says, quote,
it was awful. I don't like the rule. I set
it up front, and I like it even less now
he's done challenging calls. Chris, are you trolling or rolling

(01:46:14):
the NBA Coaches Challenge? Oh? I was gonna troll Doc
for being done with it, but you can't be done
with it after nine games. You know what I mean?
You might need it, You might it might come in
handy some game, your next game, it could come in handy,
but certainly a month from now when you've cooled down
later in the season, when you've cooled down. So I

(01:46:36):
think Doc's on. He may want he may think differently
about this down the road. So I'm trolling it. Oh man, hey, hey, hey,
you're trolling. I'm trolling Docs saying. He question was, are
you are you trolling him being done with the coaches challenge? Yeah,
I'm that he's done with it. No, I'm rolling with it.
I'm with Doc. Come on, man, let's stop all these

(01:47:01):
rules trying to cop saying stop you, no, stop stop it,
stop it. I'm just saying, like, like all these things
now that you're trying to do with making judgment calls
and whatnot, that's why they keep going the wrong way
because they're judgment calls. It's not it's not like some
sort of thing that you could look at one hundred

(01:47:22):
percent of the time and always get right. So that's
why it's just a crapshoot. Things like that should be
left as judgment calls and you shouldn't have to you
shouldn't be able to challenge them. I'm sorry. It should
be more about the rule book and the letter of
the rule, whether or not whether it's a challenge. I
do agree with you, know what I'm saying, there's two
different things. You don't need to bring that into the game. No,

(01:47:45):
it's just too much. Again, if you had a sky
judge or something you need to league, I agree with you.
I would agree with that, But you don't need to
bring a judgment call right right, That's all it is.
If you want to do that in basketball about a
pick you could call, you could do everything. I mean,
was he moving? Was he planted? You know what I mean?

(01:48:05):
We pdia all night with a game. So I just
got one thing about all these rules and all these
sports stopping a man. Martin wise with another edition of
trolling and rolling. Kylin Cowherd is our man Rob, but
he's dead wrong on this one. I'll explain next. A

Come on, Chris. Sometimes you gotta go where everybody knows
your name, dunoon dude, and they're always glad you can't game,
I ain't pay. You want to be struble? Are all
the same? You want to go where everybody knows your name,

(01:49:13):
that's why, and that name is the Odd Couple Chris
Bussar Rob Parker on a TV theme song Thursday. That
is right, That is right? That was it. We actually
sounded like that was not bad. That wasn't bad at all.
All right, that was a great classic classic. All right. Anyway,

(01:49:33):
let's end it with this, right. We talked about our
good buddy colleague, Colin Cowhard most of the great radio
show that heard. He has been pumping this view now
that the Cleveland Brown's very immediately disappointing, No question, everybody right,
No way that anybody thought they would. What are they?
Two and six? Even you didn't think they made the playoffs?

(01:49:55):
Did you think they're not going six? Not? But no
I did not. So he has been saying they should
trade Odell Beckham Junior. Now, I got my thoughts, but
I want to hear you. What's your view on that.
I would know that route already. I would have to
look at what's being offered and see if that really
were nobody's untradeable, right, No, No, I don't believe in that.

(01:50:16):
I think everybody, anybody can be trailing. Yeah, so he
was traded already. Some of the greatest players this way.
I mean He's essentially saying nature shopping, like put him
out on the market and see what you can get,
versus if somebody calls or you know, well the asking
for something crazy to get all these pieces that they

(01:50:37):
had offensively have not worked out. I don't know if
he doesn't have a rapport with Baker Mayfield or not.
And I mean, I know it's just the first year.
It's just eight games, Chris, it could turn around. But
if I was offered the number one and something else
and I could get, uh, you need offensive line help,

(01:50:59):
well that's what I'm say. If I could get that,
I might think about it. Because the way that they're
set up right now, they're not winning anything. No, no,
And at that point, once you realize se said if
they lose the next game or something, right, and you
really realize, okay, they're two and seven and it's done,
like they gotta win every game in order to get
to right, they'd have to win. They pretty much need

(01:51:21):
to win every game now, right because they gotta eight games.
Would make them ten and six if they won all eight,
and the chance of them doing that are not good.
So you're against it or you're against yeah, just from
this thing and I agree with you saying, look, nobody's untradable.
I mean, if somebody's offering something crazy, then yeah I would,
I would do it. And I would love to see

(01:51:43):
the Patriots get him. Look at you, I mean to
see look you just like seeing him and the Packers
anybody with a really good quarterback. I liked this and
a good The reason I said the Patriots too, and
the Packers and some other teams were falling into this
category is because they're gonna utilize his ability. Like OBJ

(01:52:06):
is such a talent. He's been wasted in c to
some degree, some degree not this degree, but to some
degree wasted with the Giants, right, but he's definitely being
wasted in Cleveland. Some of it his fault to watch
and you know all the just the stuff he brings,
some is unnecessary. However, he is not being utilized to

(01:52:27):
his fullest potential. And but if I'm the Browns, am
I looking to trade him and my shopping Obj? No,
And here's why, I Freddie Kitchens is just not doing
a good job. And before I'm going to trade away
some of my big time, major talent, I want to
see a good coach coming here and try to put

(01:52:50):
it together. I want to see a coach that I
know has gotten quarterbacks and receivers, or in the same page,
a coach who has gotten the most out of his
big time talent. I want to see him with OBJ
and Baker Mayfield before I just give up on OBJ. No,
I get it, because it would be like a lost opportunity. Yes,

(01:53:13):
and you would go like, say, they don't, they don't,
They rush and move him on, and he goes to
star for somebody else, and then you go, we had him. Yeah,
we pulled the trigger from the Giants. We got him.
We got a generational kind of wide receiver. Right. All
of his numbers. You look at what he's been able
to do, Chris since he got in the league. Uh,

(01:53:34):
they're impressive, no doubt. So I'm with you from the
standpoint of you better make sure you exhausted in and
and and this is not gonna work before you just
pull a trigger on a guy like OBJ. I mean,
do you think Freddy Kitchens is the guy? No, I'm
done with Freddy Kitchens. I thought it was a bad
high arm. Now, No, I don't think so. I think

(01:53:56):
I season, but Chris, we questioned it early on when
they were pushing him on all the coaches, right, remember that,
because they felt he had a relationship with Baker. Baker
did well last year at the end when they won
those they would won a total of seven games, you remember,
But the only thing was the idea that he was

(01:54:20):
you had to take Freddy Kitchens and because no reputable
coach would take Freddy Kitchens, right, right, they gave Freddy
the job because nobody else would take the job. You're right,
that's why he got the job. And that's not the
way you should hire a coach. No, you can't bring
you have to empower your coach. You can't bring your
coach in. And then you're coaching the team, right, and

(01:54:41):
you're picking the coaches right, it's not there, right, So
you have to let the coach coach worth is sawt
He's gonna want to have control of his team. And
that's why those guys turn the job down. Ye I
don't know. John Dorsey picking the guy, which I was
surprised because Dorsey did a good job in Kansas City.
But that was him picking the guy he knew he
could control. That was it, And now it's come back

(01:55:02):
to bite you. Heck, I know, I know his past
is sorted, but Greg Williams would have been a much
better pick and a lot of people thought he was
gonna get that job, and we're surprised. But I think
Greg Williams too. I think that it was contingent on
kitchens and he was like, I want to put together
my own style and I can't blame a coach. Nah

(01:55:25):
me neither. All right, it's been live, it's been fun.
