We've got plenty to get into, so don't touch that dial.
If it's on Fox Sports Radio, the iHeartRadio app or
(01:10):
serious XM channel eighty three. We will be talking to
our good friend, longtime colleague and now a reporter for
the NFL Network, Steve Weish. Oh yeah, one of the
best in the business. No doubt we can get into
it with him about Kaepernick and all the other things
going on in the NFL, So we got a great
(01:31):
show for you, and we're glad you're joining us for
the next few hours. Rob Parker, what's happening, man? What's happening?
Mister Chris Boussard, how are you? I am great, I
am doing very well. What a great day in Los Angeles.
If you're around the rest of the country and you're
cold and tired and snowy and wet or whatever, man,
just pull up the radio close to you and relax,
chill out, and joy I'm trying to make them feel
(01:55):
bad that we're here. No, I'm trying to make them California. No,
I'm trying to make them feel better about their situation.
I'm not. I would never rub it in. I lived
in Detroit for twenty two years, so I was up
there close to Canada, trust me. And one thing most
people don't realize is Detroit is uh south is north
(02:16):
of Canada. Did you know that? No? I didn't. Detroit
is yes, usc Chris knows that Detroit, Windsor Windsor of
a small part of Windsor is actually south of Detroit
the way the way. It's a weird little hangover, right,
like like the boot from Italy exactly, but you said
(02:36):
it like, no, not the whole the whole country what
I'm saying, but but a part of Canada, no doubt
about it. So all right, Uh, let's welcome into our
couple of cool. Wouldn't be able to do this fine
radio program without him. Rob g of course as our producer.
USC Chris is in for Alex tonight. Brian Finley is
a sports anchor. He'll keep us updated throughout the program.
(02:59):
Mike is our intern and of course Elijah is our
social media guru, one of the best in the business.
So yes, they're all on the other side of the glass.
Chris Bousalt on this TV. Let's see what USC Chris
can do with this. I'm excited to see what tunes
he picked that new stuff. I don't even know nothing
(03:26):
before nineteen seventy seven, all right, or nothing after nineteen
after seven. But all right, let's get into it. Let's
do it. The big news continues, Rob to be. Everybody's
now intrigued about this Colin Kaepernick workout and teams have teams.
I'm committed to go. But Adam Schefter, who is as
(03:48):
plugged in as anybody when it comes to the NFL.
He's a bit doubtful that it might even happen. Rob G.
Can you read a few of the tweets or comments
that Adam Schefter made about this? Well, that's right, Chris
during yesterday's show, and we kind of touched on it
briefly during the live broadcast. He sent out a series
of tweets that led to him kind of sounding like, hey,
(04:11):
you know what, this may not happen, culminating Actually, let
me just read the tweets forere you can have it
in front of you here. Number one, After initially agreeing
to provide the list of personnel, executives and coaches that
would attend the Kaepernick workout, the NFL has reversed course
and said it will not a few minutes later, he
says several executives with teams have reached out as a
(04:32):
courtesy to Colin Kaepernick's reps, saying they would they could
not attend Saturday's workouts and were confused by the purpose
of the NFL scheduling the workout. Quick follow up, According
to a source, league never promised to provide a list
of attendees to Colin Kaepernick workout. I believe that and
they said, multiple clubs are attending, so Kaepernick his camp
says it was promised the list and they can prove it.
(04:55):
An NFL source said the league did not make that promise.
And on and on it goes, culminating into day on
w EI and Boston, Adam Schefter says, quote, he's feeling
skeptical that the workout will actually take place. So he
never reported on his ESPN thing that he didn't think
it would happen. No, No, he just probably was actually
(05:17):
and and And that's a good point, Robin. This is
for people listeners who are not listeners who are not reporters. Uh,
when a when a writer is really sure something you
would write that, you would you would write it. You
would say just tweet. You may tweet it too, but
you would write a story. You don't just comment on
(05:38):
the radio station when you're being interviewed or even saying
on TV that's saying like I think, for instance, I
think Kevin Durand's going to Golden State, right that that's
different than Dan is going to sign with the Golden
State Warriors. According to sources, and it's written down on
pay no doubt about saying if he really believed like
(06:02):
this isn't gonna happen, and he had talked to people
said this is falling apart, It'll never happen. He would
write that that would be a big story, no doubt. So.
So that's why. And the other part, Chris, and I
brought this up yesterday, and you agree with me. Kaepernick
has no choice it no matter how it's laid out, Chris,
if he wants to play for that's what I'm talking about.
(06:22):
If he doesn't go through with this, it's it's a
done deal. Okay, nobody will want to hear about it.
I'm telling you I I think he has to go
and and this is his chance. I agree with you, Rob,
I will give a little sliver, maybe one two to this.
It's is it possible that because all of these stories
(06:45):
have come out and all there's all this skepticism and
it really looks like the NFL is putting Kaepernick in
a position to fail, that he could come out and say, look,
I definitely want to play in the NFL again, but
I don't feel like I'm giving being given, you know,
a fair opportunity. You doesn't have to say to these
(07:05):
exact words, but you know, I would like to be
able to choose my receivers or you know, you could
just point out some of the things they're forcing me
to do it on this day, I would rather do
it when coaches in general managers can be there. It
is it possible he could do that? And and somebody,
you know, because people see people in the NFL, just
(07:27):
not regular people who follow the NFL, see how this
doesn't look like a great situation for Colin. No, I don't.
I don't think so, not for a guy hasn't played
in three years. Nothing's going to be perfect. Camps beyond
cap Do you not think they could be setting him
up to fail? No? Because if I go out there
(07:48):
and I throw the football and I look like a quarterback,
that's all I can do. What else he gonna look like?
That's what you're doing a trial? You still want to
see they know? What else did you need? I don't
even want to argue, because I do agree with you
that he doesn't has to go. I'm just presenting an
out viewpoint. But I do wonder this, what's he gonna
do with the workout, Chris? That is gonna shock anybody.
(08:11):
We know he's got a cannon for an arm but
that you know he can run, he's athletic. What are
the combines for the guy played a college, four years
in college, three years in colleges. If we saw everything,
we saw its size. I watched the video. I watched
the film of them, and they still make these poor
kids come out there to take a look. Is he
really six foot four? Or is it farge? Is he
(08:33):
really this? When I sit down and talk to him,
where his head is that you may be more important.
Goes out there and looks horrible. That's another thing. If
he goes out there and he's got a pot belly
and he hasn't been working out, and I look and
go wall whatever. I'm just saying, Chris, that's what you
want to see. What the guy is and where his head.
(08:54):
The inter might be the most important thing. But look,
you've got thirteen eleven teams I'm sorry that have committed
to attending the Arizona Card, the Man of Falcons, the
Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots,
New York Giants, New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and
(09:14):
the Washington Redskins. And here's something I like Hugh Jackson,
the former head coach, is leading the workout, So this
is not joined by former NFL head coach Joe Philbins. There.
These are not like some wreck football coaches that they called,
and these are these are guys who were head coaches
(09:36):
in the NFL. They're not going to put together something
that's not going to be the standard of the league.
So I like that. I'm with you. I like that.
What I don't like is this rob the stipulations they
put on Kaepernick, calling him and giving him two hours
to accept or reject it, saying it has to be
(09:57):
on this day and it happens to be a day
where most coach in general managers can't attend. That's what
I don't like that, Scout. It doesn't seem like it's
in good faith. I disagree. I just don't think why
why would you force it on it because it's like
it rised no time? Chris, You no a Tuesday? How
about that when coaches and gms could attend? How about that? Yeah?
(10:18):
But that's so hard about holding You just said that
that what is they going to show them that a
GM and a What's call is gonna fly there and
back up quarterback. You just had bad reasons to look
at backup quarterback. But my point is a scout can
do that and write a report out doesn't hold that
much weight. No, but they they've all they want to
do is take a look. We talked to him. I
(10:40):
like what he had to say, here's my report, and
then they're from the general manager. If I'm interested, we
invite him to come to whatever city it is and
meet with the general manager, meet with the coach on
the You can't do that, Chris, Yes you can. That's
what I don't understand. Can't sit here and act like
they are not putting him in a bad position. I
(11:00):
say that, Yes, I disagree. Really, yes, they call you
on the phone, Hey, you you wanta you gotta be
here this day? How about on the Tuesday when when
coaches and Scott Jams can be there. They're putting him
in a bad posts. Got another Saturday when in a
bad position. More where he had been black ball from
the league for three years and that leggy league had
(11:20):
He's been in a bad position, didn't have a conversation
with him for over a year and never talked to him.
So now that they reach out and try to set
something up. It's the worst thing in the world. Somewhere
perfect showing some respect all him there, the wide guy
between perfect and bad. I just think everybody can be
somewh nitpick us. Ye go out there, said to me.
(11:43):
If you said to me, you know I want to
be on the radio, I'm just not getting any opportunity.
And then one day you're just driving along, having talked
to me in months, I call you, Rob, you still
want to be in the radio? Yeah, all right, ten
minutes you're coming on with me? Yeah? Is that putting
you in a position? But you know what, I would
be there if I was really serious about being on
the radio. And if you called me and said, hey,
(12:05):
my partner got sick. I need you to come in
in the next thirty minutes for tonight's show. If I'm
really serious about radio, I would be there. If I
tell you, Chris Man, that's cool. But nah, I'm not available.
I got I'm going out to dinner. Can you can
I come in next Saturday? No? He has no. Yeah,
I get that, but I'm just saying they're putting him
(12:25):
in a bass boy he does. It doesn't have to
be He've already said him in a bad No, I
agree that Smart's worse. What they did to him was worse.
I just wondered they come. That's all I'm saying. That's
all I'm saying. All Right, I mean, give him, give
him a better chance. That's just what I don't like
about it. Okay, you called him. You could have called
him a week. The reports have been that the NFL
(12:47):
told certain reporters we got news breaking next Tuesday. You
couldn't have called Kaepernick's wraps his head. Look, we're working
on something. We may be able to set up a
workout for you next Saturday. Could you do it? Just
show him in some respeck. They didn't have to even
call all I'm telling you, I feel they call. I'm
saying they didn't have to call this. They're making him.
(13:08):
He's been talking about the NFL. Didn't have to open
this up and bring this topic back to we're leading
the show. We're not talking about NFL football. We're talking
about Colin Kaepernick. The NFL wouldn't just do this for
there's no reason too. This is what I don't understand.
What do they gain? All they get is basted for
(13:30):
for doing it, because they're not doing it the right way.
They're not doing it the right way. But I'm just saying, so,
what's the only option. It is either that or bust.
This is what he has presented to him. If he's
serious about if he's serious about playing and you and
if you don't like it, don't go. Don't go. They
should have shown the man respect. That's all I'm saying.
(13:52):
They should have showed rect It's like they're trying to
make him buff. That was the case. You got an
old back. That's the way that they do that. Ain't
showed him, man, some rest with you, all right, you'll
turn away. In A seven seven ninety nine on Fox
A seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine, shit,
Colin Kaepernett consider pulling out of the NFL scheduled workout
(14:16):
on Saturday, Robin, I don't think so. We think he
has to show up. I think it's a tough situation,
but he still has no choice. Go out there and
light it up. What do you say. We'll continue the
conversation with you next, I couple. Fox Sports Radio. Fox
Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation.

(14:37):
And within the iHeart Radio app search f s R
to listen live. It's the I couple, Chris and Rob
on the TV theme show THIRSD one was his night
rider or something. Baywatchers. It's one of those you know.
That was my next guest. He always had a Detroit
Tiger had on that. He's from Detroit. Yeah, yeah, you
remember that. I noticed that. That was a good show.
(14:59):

in the zone, all those zone. All right, we threw
(15:22):
it out to you guys eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox Kaepernick should he pull out or go and
throw the football? Let's start with Andre and Massachusetts. Welcome
to the Eye couple. Yeah, thanks for taking my call. Listen,
no Kaepernis workout. I don't want to hear anything more
about Kaepernick. It's done, Okay, this is his opportunity to
(15:43):
get it done. He needs to sit down, him and
nessa sit down, watch a league of their own, learn
from the great Penny Marshall. If it wasn't hard, everyone
would do it. The heart is what makes it great.
Quarterback is the most prestigious position in the world of
sports period. I don't care if soccer is the most
popular sport globally. Football is the most popular sport and
the most influential nation. Okay, And if you want to
(16:05):
be a quarterback of one of those thirty two teams,
you got to have a junkyard dog mentality to get
that opportunity. So the little uh antel everything's on the
outside mean nothing. If he goes out there and shines,
he will get an opportunity. He will have a shot
back in the NFL, And that's the end result many
of us want, and hopefully he wants. If he wants
to be a martyr and a legend in his own
(16:25):
mind and in the mind of his followers, then he
can back off and fade off into the distance. But
I expect to see to see cap there doing his thing,
all right, And we both agree, Jacob in New Mexico,
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Jacob? Oh, yeah,
what's up? Guys? Hi? You man? Hey, I want to
(16:47):
say that he needs to take the opportunity. I'm from
Los Angeles, I live out here in him an opportunity
not you got strike? You know what I mean? This
guy does not have much time. You guys agree that
a style of quarterback, if this caliber, a running guy,
doesn't last long in the league a bad thing, you
(17:12):
know what I mean, Robby been there and done that.
So how much left you having the tank being that
type of quarterback. You know you gotta strike while the
iron's hot. I guess you know. Now we are Thank you, Jacob.
Let's go to Keith and Peoria, Illinois. You're on with
Chris and Rob. How you doing, guy? You have a great,
great show man. I love you all the time. Thank you.
(17:34):
Now it's Rob Harry Shall about agree with you, but
on this call, you are definitely correct. The man shut
out videos showing all these waits that he was looking
and throwing the ball to ob J a few weeks ago.
It doesn't make what any difference. It's up Rundy A
twosby a Thursday of Clydy It doesn't make any difference
if you feel like you want to get back in
(17:55):
the league and you're ready to do your jobs. I
try out as a creation back in eighty six with
the Cowboys, missed out on the second cut, and I
feel like when you get that opportunity and you have
to do it, Like the two guys before, I said,
take that opportunity. I don't care what time videos. Get
out there, show your stuff and see what you got.
I think that's the way he needs to go, and
(18:16):
I think that's the way he needs to be. There.
You go around very seldom, but you were right this time. Chris.
There you go, all right, Keith. We appreciate that. Finally,
what about they finally agree with me? Michael and Washington.
You're on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio. What you
got Michael, Hey, guys, let me tell you great great show.
I love you guys. You guys are like peanut butter
(18:36):
and jelly, the way you guys go together. Thank you
appreciate that. I'm the peanut butter. He could be the
peanut butter, but I'm oscar no because Chris is sweet,
so he's the jelly was hot. I'm like, I'm like
the last few callers. I think if Kaepernett blew his
own horn saying I'm working out five days a week,
(18:58):
three hours a day, I'm ready to go when called.
Now he's got to put up or shut up. Now
he's backed himself in the corner. You got to take
what they're giving you. This is like an entry level
little thing where they're gonna come back to the GMS
and coaches and say, hey, he did a great job.
He sounded great in the interview. Let's bring him in
and have him throw to our receivers, right if he can, right,
(19:22):
let's if he can pick up our lingo, pick up
our offense, throw to our guys. Is he getting along great?
Let's keep him, you know, for forever how long we
want him? Um, and see where we go from there.
But he's got to go, no doubt. Good Calle, we agree.
Let's go to Thomas and Sacramento. Timas, you're on with
Chris and Rob. Hey, fellas, how's it going, Hey, first
(19:44):
time call, a long time listener on this one. I'm
going with Rob And so here's the deal in my mind,
And a lot of people have called in and already
said some of the things that I was thinking. But
this is a tremendous opportunity. It doesn't matter what day
of the week it is. If Kaepernett goes and they're
feeling like he's being slighted because it's on a Saturday,
then he's already lost the mental game. This is something
(20:05):
that he's wanted for three years, and he's battled for it,
and he's desired. I can tell you if I wanted
something and I kept myself in condition for a group,
for a dream and a goal for three years and
somebody called me, I would not hesitate. I'd be jumping
through the roof with joy for my opportunity. So the
day doesn't make it a bad opportunity or a great opportunity.
The opportunity itself is great, Well said Tommy. He said
(20:29):
a tweet that he's looking forward to it and excited.
He said he's excited to see all the games and coaches.
Some people have said that was facetious because you know,
he knew they wouldn't be there, but the tweet looked
like he had a positive attitude. Let's go to Tony
in Wisconsinn Tonio with the eye couple. Hi, guys, I
just you know earlier you were saying you got to
(20:49):
give him some respect, and I think he has to
earn the respect. And Polis have be in the NFL.
Maybe feel like he hasn't been that respectful, you know,
in the past and in terms of what what's just
and he's in the past, and I want to show
what he can do. I think he should get to respect.
(21:10):
He's played in the league, He's played in the super Bowl.
They know he can play in the league. That's not
why he's not in the NFL because they think, No,
it's not about his ability, right, it was what what
over the whole protesting and and I'm with you. You know,
we've been in a lockstep on it. He didn't do
anything well with Tony. Thanks for the come with her, Robin.
I agree, we agree he's got to go do it. No,
(21:31):
just you're not saying you're not saying that. I'm not saying.
You're not saying, oh well, it's not shut up, right,
and he shouldn't go. No, if he doesn't go, Chris,
I just don't see how how in the world you're
gonna ever get back. That's all I'm saying. No, there's
no question about it. No question about it. All right.
NFL Network reporters Steve Weish says NFL teams are scared
to bring in Colin Kaepernick. He'll explain next, but first
(21:53):
be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker week days at seven
pm Eastern four I'm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the iHeart Radio app. All right, we're gonna bring in
a good friend of ours does a great job covering
the NFL for the NFL Network, and he is the
guy who actually broke the story about Colin Kaepernick kneeling
(22:17):
in protest over police brutality. Our friend, Steve Weiss, what's happening, brother, Steve?
What's up? Gentlemen, gentlemen, thank you for having me on.
And just you know what, the first, you know, the
first Kaepernis symbolic gesture protest police brutality and justice in America.
He was not kneeling. He was sitting right. And then
remember and the what you call it, the military guy
(22:40):
can't remember? Yeah, one who told him? Absolutely, Steve. I
my feeling is this, and maybe you have some insight
on this. I don't feel like and I'm not saying
this as a negative, but I don't think Kaepernick was
trying to start any type of movement. I don't think
(23:01):
he was trying to, you know, bring necessarily bring attention
to the situation. I feel like it was just a
personal conviction on his part that he didn't feel like
he could stand for the national anthem with what was
going on, with these shootings of unarmed African Americans. Is
that your take or do you think he really did
want to, you know, start some big movement of protest.
(23:25):
I don't know if he wanted to start a movement,
but he definitely wanted to bring attention to it. It
was personal to him, which is why if you listen
and if those people who have you know, certain you know,
prajuices or whatever, would listen, he said, Look, this was
I'm not going to ask any other NFL player, none
of my teammates. They don't have to do this if
they don't want to. This is me. You know, it
(23:47):
was the summer remember Filando Filando Castile, Eric Garner, you
had all these shootings going on. It is during the
summer of the presidential project. It was crazy that year.
It was raised and it was it was the hot summer.
I can do the right thing right, So, UM, I'm
with you, Chris. I think he wanted to bring attention
to it, maybe not to the specter that it did.
(24:09):
But when I spoke to him after I interviewed him,
you know as to why he did it. Um, I
let him know based on our NBA knowledge of what
happened to Rauf, like, hey man, you know, you you
do something where people will perceive you treading on this
flag regardless of your intent. It is going to be
a tempest. You know, it's really going to be a
(24:31):
big deal. And we see that we're still talking about it.
Did he understand that that he was putting his career
in jeopardy? He didn't. He didn't. He did. Steve Steve
about the workout, and Chris and I've talked about this.
It might not be perfectly set up or whatever. I
loved that Philbin and Hugh Jackson are are part of this.
To me, this is all I get from it. It
(24:52):
doesn't guarantee you anything, but by the NFL being involved
and setting this thing up, I think if you weren't
owner who thought he was toxic in the league, what
had nothing to do with him. This at least kind
of opens the door. And if I want to make
a decision as an owner, the NFL has someone, would
you say, Chris removed the scarlet letter so called scarlet
(25:13):
letter from him because this is a league sponsored or
league kind of event with Colin Kaepernick, because that often
you know, I don't know about that. And I say
this because these owners have had three years to find
out about Colin Kaepernick. They could have brought him in
and spoken to him personally, and to sit here and
basically say, well, we're waiting for the basically the umbrella
(25:36):
body that oversees the owner's business and the league and
football operations. Since they're putting their shield on it. But
now it's okay. It takes away a blemish. I don't
necessarily agree with that when I know you guys, well,
not one of us makes a judgment about a person
as a whole without meeting him or her face to face.
(25:59):
Now I get that, and that Steve let me add
this part. The NFL didn't have to do this. They've
already paid them the settlement. It's been three years. Nobody
is talking about Colin Kaepernick. Here we are, we led
our national radio show with this, not talking about the NFL,
not talking about the football. Do you see they've reopened
(26:19):
this when they didn't have to do it. That's why
I feel that way. Yeah, And that was a question. Look,
when I've been reporting on this and you know, so
yesterday I spoke to him from the NFL. I was like,
why did you do this? I mean, what is going
to make the skeptics and the cynics one of which
I am, What's gonna make me think this isn't a
(26:40):
PR stunt? Right? And their answer was, why would we
all of a sudden, after this great week that that was,
you know, punctuated by that great Monday night game with
Seattle San Francisco, why would we follow that up with this?
And we didn't have to who we been through a
great week anywhere. We got Lamar Jackson facing to Seawan
Watson with this totally this and so and so. I said,
(27:06):
well why are you And they said part of it
is because they've had teams come to them and I'm
assuming the team over them because of the settlement, saying hey, look,
is there anything prohibiting us from working out Colin Kaepernick
in this settlement? And they were told no, this has
nothing to do with the settlement. Then those teams were like, well,
you know, we want to do it, but boy, you know,
(27:26):
we might catch some blowback. And apparently we are multiple
teams that said that. So they said, you know what
the league say, Okay, you know, we'll give you the cover.
We'll have this workout, you send your people, make a
video tape this. Yeah, it does make sense. I mean, look,
I understand the cynicism. I understand the cynicism some of it.
Some of it I feel. But at the same time,
(27:47):
it's an opportunity that has not been there before. How
big of a deal is it that instead of coaches
and gms being there, it will likely be scouts from
all these teams. To me, it's not that big of
a deal because when you go to pro days. Look,
you know a lot of times these pro days for
like these major college prospects, there'll be five of these
(28:08):
pro days, let's say Oklahoma, Florida State, you know, Texas,
USC on the same day. Okay, these coaches and one each, right,
so they have their scouts there. So what will probably
be the people who will probably be at the workout
are probably their pro scouts. Right, those are the people
just below in the head of overall scouting departments, just
(28:31):
their pro department scouts, because they can do that on
the sand of their college scouts. Right now, they're out
looking here, Joe Burrow and two and all these guys,
but the pro scouts can be there, so they've got
a lot of sway. And keep in mind, this is
going to be filmed, and they're going to do a
filmed interview of which Kaepernick and his people have been
allowed to submit the questions that will be asked to
(28:53):
let them get the narrative, to let them dictate the narrative,
so that will be there too. You said, the questions
that will be asked by the teams Kaepernick and them
put together, So the questions that will be asked. They're
going to do a video interview. From what I have
(29:13):
been told, right, they're going to do a video interview
that's going to go out to all thirty two teams.
So I'm guessing there's going to be let's say, twenty
questions asked, whether some of them have been submitted by
the league, but Kaepernick and his people have also been
given the opportunity to say, here are if you have
any questions about this, here's my answer. If you have
(29:36):
any doubts about this, here's my answer. So he has
an opportunity as well, on this taped interview to kind
of determine what needs to be said. Now, if teams
want to have a private interview with him and ask
him questions, even if it's over the phone, they've got
every right to do. They've had the opportunity to do that.
But as part of this filmed interview, he does have
the option. I'm not saying he's going to do it
(29:57):
or not, but he does have the option of dictating
part of the narrative in terms of the questioning and
what he wants to say. Steve Wish's NFL network is
joining the Eye Couple. Steve, my gut and Chris and
I have talked about this. I believe he will wait,
he will get back into the NFL. I really do.
And I there's just something to me that this and
you even brought it up with teams like inquiring about
(30:20):
him and whatnot, and even the idea of that, and
eleven teams have committed to going on at least sending
some scouts. What's your gut on this is there a
chance he could get back into the league. Yeah, I
think there's gonna be more teams than that, and I
think there is an opportunity that he can and and
one thing that really needs to be made clear, and
this is me speaking to people from teams, not the league.
(30:40):
Most of the teams are doing their due diligence to
bring him in in the off season, not to sign
him right now. I mean a lot of people I
think are taking it like Cat's gonna work out and
in two weeks the season's almost over, right, the season's
almost over. If you're a bad team, you want to
see your young players. If you're a good team, you
don't want to put Colin in your locker room because
you're gonna bring attention. Plus he's a very popular guy
(31:01):
among players, so that's going to cause some type of disruption.
So this so people need to understand it's probably for
next year, and so I think, but here's the thing.
I think some teams are seeing what's going on with
Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson. How NFL coaches now
have adapted a style that's much more friendly to Colin
Kaepernick's strengths. Than they were even three or four years ago.
(31:24):
And I think maybe that's why there has been some
antenna's going up about Kaepernick's availability. I imagine one of
the questions is going to be will you stand for
the national anthem? Or will you kneel? How much do
you think his answer is gonna play a role in
whether or not he can get with a team. It could.
(31:44):
I mean, it depends on the owner. You see the
stuff going on in Dallas where they say, Michael Bennett,
if you want to be on our team, you have
to be out there on the field for the national anthem.
That is a If you're playing for Jerry, that's part
of it. Your turn clud they're not having it. Part
of this also is trave balloon guys to see you know,
I don't know if marketing or whatever, whoever kicking up
the premier one is whomever, Kansas City, Whomever's saying, hey,
(32:07):
I hope you guys aren't going because I'll end my
season tickets. So don't think all that stuff's not happening.
And look a couple of years ago when Seattle brought
him up for a workout and it became public that
he was coming up there, they judged some of the
blowback as to whether they were going to bring him
in or not. That wasn't nearly them the enticing factors
for them not signing him. But they heard it, whether
(32:29):
positive or negative. So I don't know if that question
will be asked then or in an individual basis once
they decide if they were interested. Really yeah, because if
I remember Eric Reid, Remember Eric Reid paid a visit
to the Cincinnati Bengals a couple of years ago, and
they asked him that and he leaked it, like yeah,
they asked me. That was part of my interview with them.
(32:51):
So I mean, I guess it's it's gonna be there.
It's going to be the con Kaepernick. Everybody who would
be covering that game, every camera at that game will
be seeing if he gets back in the NFL, seeing
if he stands neils or does whatever during the National Asp?
How about if he does half and half? Last question, Steve,
we got about thirty seconds. Do you think Jay Z
(33:12):
played any role in putting this together? Tough question. I
mean that is solely an assumption. I know our Ian
Rappaport said he apparently had some discussions with the league
about it, But I don't know how much influence, you know,
the Rock Nation partnership with the NFL had in this
because remember, Jays, you took a lot of blowback, even
from Kaepernick because it said he's kind of turned his
(33:33):
back on by forming his partnership. So I, honestly, I
don't even want to, you know, take a take a
guess at that, because I simply don't know, Steve, Why shouldn't, Man,
we're great stuff, man, insight, we really do. Thank you, Steve,
my brothers. All right, piece, It's not often you hear
the term must win thrown around. However, that's exactly what
(33:58):
we have here. I'll explain. Next. It's the Eye Couple

All right, it's the Eye Couple of Chris Bruce Sorrd
and Rob Parker. And of course this is Charlie's Angels.
(34:20):
That's right, Rob, Ge, do you remember or you probably
don't remember. I don't think you were born. You ever seen, like, uh,
any of the reruns of Charlie's ain't where the term
the fair of faucet hairdue came from from Charlie's Angels,
because I've never heard the term the fair faucet hair due.
I mean farre faucet was the big star. Yeah, I
(34:40):
kind of like how with friends they have the Rachel hairdoe,
like that was I guess the thing. Oh, I don't
know that that wasn't in my in my social group. Right,
we just played he just played Charlie's Angels, Rob, Who
was your favorite angel? Who is it? I like Jackson? Right, Kay, Jackson,
fair faucet. Who was Cheryl Ladd? She was fair Foster
(35:04):
got all of the publication, She got all of it
because of the big float and she was. They were
all beautiful, but Cheryl Ladd Cape Jackson had the blackhair, right, yes, yeah,
yeah she was. I mean you couldn't go wrong, no, no,
and they were that was a big show. Yeah, there's
I think they're remaking that I saw coming out. They
(35:24):
got a movie, yeah, yeah, one up here soon. I think. Okay,
it's the Eye couple. We brought you by Discover because
Discover treats you like you would treat yourself, all right, Rob,
I told you, I told you last week that the
Cleveland Brothers are breathing. They're not dead. They're alive. If
(35:45):
they lose this game at home, they're gonna be dead.
Maybe seven seven could get seven might get you an
invitation to the dance. But they need to win, no doubt.
This is the by essentially need to win out. And
I'll tell you what. Pittsburgh's looking good lately. I don't know, really,
you're not impressed. I'm still not impressed by them because
(36:06):
you can tell you got that win. Get This'm gonna
give you some of their wins. Give me the wins.
What are they now? Five and they've won four straight?
Who'd they beat? The Charger? Your Chargers? Who you think
are super Bowl team? Chris, you picked him as a
playoff team too, so don't act like you didn't have
them bigging him as a playoffs much different. No, don't
pick me them to go to the Super Kills. Me
(36:29):
is not him. That's a playoff team. It's not different.
Now he's acting like, oh, I can't go to the SUPERO.
I can't believe you picked them, But you picked Chris?
What he was just saying, you picked them to go
to the Super Bowl. Who's picking the NFL games at
a seventy one percent clips? Neither of you guys. You
told me that seventy one seventy. He always over inflates
(36:52):
it everything. He makes everything seem bigger than it really is.
That's what every That's what they beat, the Chargers, the Dolphins, Okay,
the Colts. That's a good Colts. Although didn't that the
game Jacoby Brissette got hurt. And it's also the game
that Adam Vitetterry uh missed the field goal. You remember
(37:16):
that one, ri did you see yesterday they came out
and gave him a vote of confidence. I'm sorry what
he's forty six years thirty six and you say, oh,
we know, No, he's old. There's a reason he's missing
the kicks. And it's not just mental. They wanted to
talk like mental. No, he's forty six, he's old. I
(37:38):
don't get it. And if you saw the miss he
had u against pitch, it was a shank. It wasn't
miss where it fades at the end, you know where
I could get it up in it fades, all right,
that's miss on pace to make seventy percent of his
extra points. That will be the worst percentage in NFL history. No, anybody,
(38:04):
anybody that's had a certain number of kicks. I can't
remember what the number is, but the worst ever for
a season. Think about it. Seventy percent on extra points.
That's seven out of ten. I mean, I'm supposed to
that's automatic, right, and even while they moved it back.
But okay, here's the other team. Right, they beat the Rams,
so two of their I would even give the Colts
(38:26):
a good win. So three of their last four wins
they could but they could have lost to them. They
should have lost to them. I'll give you the other two.
But anyway, look, I got the Browns. It's just because, Hey,
I picked them too. I picked both of these teams
to reach the playoffs. So actually now I'm pulling for Pittsburgh.
I want Pittsburgh to make it. Why because I picked them.
(38:46):
I picked both of these teams, picked both. Pittsburgh has
a better chance, so one of them. I want the
Browns to win, just because my you know, I lived
in Cleveland. I got Louisiana, Cleveland, New Jersey, New York,
Club California, Iowa, Ohio. If I want if the Bengals
turn it around. I'm gonna be claiming him. I lived
(39:07):
there as a kid. I did a couple two hours left.

don't know how you become an ex nephew, but apparently
as possible. Well, what we were family, we still are
f I was married to his cousin. Okay, he will
join us. He's a Yahoo Senior NBA writer does a
great job cover in the association. In less than twenty
eight minutes, he'll be with us. But Rob, the evidence
(40:14):
just keeps coming, the evidence as to why Tom Brady
is Indeed, it's it's unbelievable. Every Sunday, every time I
turn around, there's more and more evidence mounting as to
why Tom Brady is the goal. And you may even
(40:36):
one day bow, I'm not you may even one day
say he's the goal. That ain't happening and what when
they lost? That's why he became the goal. He's won
six super Bowl he's been the nine. How about that? Yeah,
it's in him or as other players involved. It's a
team game, but he's the leader as the quarterback. I'm
just saying, all right. So anyway, tom Brady, according to
(41:01):
his training guru TB twelve Maestro Guarrera from the team
flight and the facilities, just listen to what Alex Guerrera
has to say here he is, Well, you know, it
all comes down to commitment. No one thought you could
play at the elite level and in your late thirties
and early forties, that's something we've always felt that we
could do. I certainly do believe that forty five is
(41:23):
very realistic goal. So you know, we talk about it
all the time, Like every year he just adds another
year he goes in. He's like, guys, just feel so
good still, Like I think I'm gonna go to forty five.
I'm like okay, and it's like, oh, He's like, ouse,
I think they can go like forty six or forty seven,
forty seven, Rob Parker. You can try to deny six
(41:46):
super Bowl wins. You can try to deny nine super
Bowl appearances. You can try to deny the magic that
was Brady Moss that regular season. But you cannot deny
a guy playing quarterback in the NFL, any position for
(42:07):
that matter, other than kicker until he's forty seven years old.
Ask me if I think Tom Brady's gonna play the
forty seven years old? Do you think Tom Brady's gonna
play until he's forty seven years old? No way, No,
how Donny Alone Hurd, Alex Guerrera, I don't care. You
didn't think he played till he was forty two. And
you know I got a problem with Alex. Did you
(42:28):
hear what he said? We as if he's doing something
he ain't you think makes the avocado shape. He's a
trainer stopping. He could have said tom Brady, we we
think we could play the forty five. You ain't playing, Alex.
He's a big part of the you ain't playing. He's
a big part of the brand. You know he is.
And Chris, I'm come enough with the tom Brady stop
(42:50):
talking about Can you concentrate about this season? Get off
of I don't want to hear one more quote about
you playing the forty five, forty six and forty seven.
You fame hog. Stop it, tom Brady, he's anything stopping.
Hold on, I hear you on that. I hear you
on it. Coming up, make a little thirty seven. Fine,
(43:12):
you're good enough. Chris, you're gonna play, they'll sign you.
I'll get you on that. But fame harg. Come on.
If there's anybody who's on that level who's not a
fame hog, it's Tom Brady. Can you at least give
him that. I'm tired of hearing about this. Can you
at least give him that he's not a fame hag.
He always tries to play the role Gee Whiz. He's
(43:35):
the Wolsey Wolsey who guy, gee Whiz. He's in a
but no, that's that's he's He's Andy Griffith right, he's
Opie Opie from fact, I'm getting way too old right
our listeners, they don't even have any idea who that is.
(43:56):
But anyway, forty seven and here's the thing, Look, I
gotta be honest, all kidding aside. That does not seem realist.
What don't we just say before we got started, we're
talking about Adam Venetary at forty six to great, one
of the greatest, and right, and he can't do it, Chris,
I can't do it anymore. I would be absolutely stunned
(44:19):
if he could play the forty seven. I think forty
five would be a tremendous achievement, assuming he's playing. I mean,
does he want to sit on the bench at forty five,
forty six or forty seven. And the other thing too,
that no one's talking about it is, Chris, you're out there.
All it takes is one bad hit, you get blindsided
and you get Now, he's been incredibly durable. Yes he's
(44:39):
been injured, but not now. I'll say this, If indeed
he is to play to least forty seven, and heck
forty five, and if he's with New England, they're gonna
have to change the way they do things because what
their m with Tom Brady has been our system and
(45:00):
our quarterback is so good that we can put average,
yes average skill position players around him and he can
make magic with them. But if he's gonna play until
he's forty five, way better bring in some stunts. It
won't be in New England. If that's the case, he
(45:22):
will be on the novel, He'll be on another team.
Why there's no way they're gonna play for you. What
if what if he's still productive? Not Chris, but if
they're still winning? I mean, can you say for a
fact I could say that they really I'll say here,
right here and right now. Five years ago would have
said that they couldn't he couldn't win and play at
forty one, but not at fort Say it you said
(45:44):
he last year. I'll tell you that. Do we have that?
Don't take you said it last ye. We don't have that.
You said you were moving to Mexico losses because Tom
Brady had no chance. I take no way, no how
of getting to the super Bowl. So I'm just saying,
you cannot tell me. If I could tell you that,
I'm trying to be played that position at forty six,
(46:04):
forty seven. I'm not buying it, Chris. It's a big
difference between forty one, forty two and even forty three,
but you're talking about forty five, forty six, forty seven.
I will be I will do the Funky Chicken in
my underwear. If Tom Brady is quarterback for the New
England Patriots at age forty seven? All right, stop? Did
you know what I'm just saying? I just he said,
(46:25):
get this on tape. You got this, Rob Parker will
do the Funky Chicken and my underwear right, not in
your bedroom, right, nobody else there, right here, on this,
on this desk, on this desk, on you're gonna put
it on YouTube, Periscope, over that Twitter, Facebook, everything. I'm
(46:46):
a little do it in your underwear? Though? Can you
wear boxer shorts at least? Yes? I don't wear briefs.
All right, just why I don't want to see you know?
I got it? But you got my point. If he's
forty seven and played for the New England Patriots and
then the Guinness say I might No, I'm telling you.
If you had an out with Mexico you said, I
(47:07):
think no, right, you got no out, no out here
if he started, if he's playing quarterback at forty seven,
starting quarterbacks Patriots, Okay, I'm saying that he could go
elsewhere in his forties and play at forty teams at
a despot everybody. Davit even mentioned in his name to
sell tickets for the Chargers that Tom Brady's a California guy. No,
(47:30):
but they also mentioned tom Brady's name. That is that
maybe maybe that they might bring Tom Brady in to
a lot of quarterbacks have finished their careers elsewhere. This
is mine played two or three years. I tend to again,
it's hard for me to imagine him playing at forty seven. Okay,
but your contention that it won't be with the Patriots,
(47:52):
I gotta push back a little. Okay, does Belichick maybe
want to move on? Probably? But what about Robert Draft
You know, I don't think he wants to move on years.
What if six years, well, you think he'll be somewhere else.
He might be in jail. No, Well, I'm just saying
(48:13):
nobody else is interested. I want to see the tape.
I want to see what he did. Anyway, anyway, that's
big day. They keep winning. Robbed the nut, Chris and
look I don't. They don't look like a super Bowl
team to me. But can They didn't look like a
super Bowl team last year? Can we were? We're That's
(48:34):
why you were so bold in your silly prediction. I thought,
I really thought the Chargers were gonna go to Foxbor
and beat They didn't look good. You had reason to
think that I did. And so my point is, what
if they win the Super Bowl this year, and next
year go to the AFC Title Game and lose, and
the year after that in the again go to the
(48:55):
title game. They're still winning at a high level, and
look is he Is he great right now? No? What
if he's still a pretty good quarterback? Let quarterback. Let
me just say this because this will be good for you.
His quarterback rating, it's higher than your MVPs. His his
completion percentage is the same as your MVPs. He's throwing
(49:18):
for more yards per game than your MVPs Aaron Rodgers.
But again, he's all those are higher. Drop to your knees.
It's a competition that Brady has inflated numbers. Don't insult
the NFL players. He has inflated numbers. When they played
a good team, they got here day after day and
(49:41):
insult legitimate NFL talent. Those guys are bad. Christ. They're
on an NFL roster. They're one of the fifty three,
they're one of the mighty twelve or thirteen hundred who
could make it to the NFL. I will not disrespect them.
I don't care if they're in Miami. But fellow, the
(50:01):
New York Jets, they are NFL players. They know any
given Sunday, Rod Parker, you can be beaten by one
of them that deserves. No, no, stop, don't do that.
Don't do that. See, Chris, you replace the Alex Alex
with a game he loved. He just what usc Chris?
He just gave you a night beare draw away you
(50:21):
probably that's your boy. You know that's what you're gonna
do me. I gave you a good grade, Chris? Is
your grades? What old man? But you see you know
I'm right, No, I don't. They don't even get rid
of time Brady. If they're still winning. All I'm saying,
what if they get let me get let me pay
my scenario. All right, they lose their first playoff game,
Tom Brady doesn't play one year. Yeah, this year, so
(50:43):
that's still the second round. Okay, but but a bible
first round, they lose their playoff game, they don't go
to the FC Championship game then, and Tom Brady doesn't
play that well, you will look at it totally different.
He could avoid the last two years of his contract.
There's no guaranteed money there right, then Tom Brady could
move on and Patriots could say, okay, last year in
the Super Bowl, Chris, he didn't throw a touchdown, he
(51:04):
had a pick in interception. And now we lose game
the first playoff game and Brady doesn't look that great.
It would be a reason for them to be ready
to cut Bay. That's fair. That's all. When you when
you take a look at you at least think about it.
You would. But what if they don't have what are
they just gonna do it? To do? It's the good
option out there? No, I'm just giving. I mean not
(51:24):
to be honest, they're going to the Kaepernick thing. Maybe
I was gonna say honestly, they are going. Honestly, if
I'm the new England Patriots and Tom Brady clearly falls off,
I'm looking at Colin Kaepernick. You don't think Belichick could
do wonders with Kaepernick because what I'm saying, you want to, Hey,
(51:45):
you want your legacy and your legend to even grow
more because he's I because because real talk, his legends
legacy without Tom Brady is not all that. Seven years
without Brady, five of them losing seasons. Only one time
did he make the playoffs without Tom Brady as his quarterback.
I still say so, Bill Belichick could just rewrite his
(52:07):
if he If Bill Belichick wins another championship, and if
he did it with somebody other than Tom Brady, That's
that's what Bill Belichick wanted. I believe that it's a
legacy thing, all right. What do you guys think eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox A seven seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine. Are you expecting Tom Brady
to play until he's forty seven? And if so, would
(52:31):
it be with anyone other than New England? You're turned

Tom Brady can play until he's forty seven years old,
and in New England at that. Let's start with Ray
and Montana. Ray, you're on with Chris and Rob. Yes,
sir Hi, of course he can play to forty seven. Wow,
you can't hit the quarterback, you can't tackle anybody. Roger
Cadell is going to protect him, so of course he
(53:56):
can play the forty seven that I tell you what.
That's still I think they're a little sarcasm in your voice.
Forty seven is still even without being able to be
being hit like they used to be. It's hard to
This is fifty years old. He went out and played basketball.
He got a bad back, now, right, Chris, Yeah that's true,
all right, But I don't work with Alex Guerrero. So
(54:17):
let's why not. I mean, Ray wants old school football.
I feel you, Ray, I'm with you. I haven't let
the boys be boys and hit each other. You haven't
watched watch anymore. I haven't watched one game this year really,
just because you think it's soft. Now, Yeah, that's going
to move to watch college. You're gonna be in the XFL.
(54:40):
They're supposed to be. I don't know yet. I really
don't know yet. All right, all right to him in
Baker's Field, Himie, you're on with Chris and ryb. What's happening? Hey,
what's going on? What's up? Him? I've done what. I've
been to Baker's Field before. That's right. Hey, I'm forty
(55:01):
five year old and I work in the field on
the tha. I get tired now. I could just imagine
at forty seven, how I'm gonna feel or the things
that I could do now or at forty or at
thirty eight, And no way that man plays the forty seven.
Here's the thing, though, and this includes me and Rob
(55:22):
and you and everybody else is not a professional athlete.
It's hard to compare us to them. No, No, but
I agree forty seven scenes you know what I'm just saying.
But here's the part that I think you're not you're
not thinking about and I agree with you about comparing
regular Joe's to a world athlete, a world class athlete.
The players coming in the NFL twenty three years old,
(55:45):
twenty four, they're not forty seven like Tom Brady. That's fair,
you know what I mean. The linebackers twenty six years
old going after Tom Brady is what I'm saying. These
are younger guys, right. However, did you think Rob five
year years ago? Would you have thought it possible for
a forty year one year old quarterback to lead a
(56:06):
team to the Super Bowl championship? Well, only from the
standpoint that I didn't have realized what the rules were
gonna be of that has protected quarterbacks a little bit more.
Would you admit that? All? Right? So I didn't know that, Stilly,
But in all sports, guys are playing longer. The nutrition
is better, the travels better, the weight trainings been, and
(56:28):
so I look again, it seems unrealistic to me. I'm
not gonna say it's impossible, though. It Go ahead, Let's
go to Marty in Kentucky. Marty on with Chris and
Rob was happening not too much fall as I'm ready
for this Steelers Browns game. Yes, who you got? Who
you got Marty? Tonight? You know I got my Steelers
against the Cleveland clowns. Come on, oh you I'm gonna
(56:51):
tell you like I told Rob, Marty, they're making a run.
You've been saying that all year and their runs of
being what have they won two in a row. Yet
it's coming. It's coming out right, it's coming. They got runs,
all right, But it ain't what Chris is talking about.
Where are you at on Brady? Where you at on Brady? Marty? Okay, Um,
(57:12):
I want Brady to play long enough to play for
someone else because I just want to see you know
who it is? Who who's behind the dynasty? Is it
Belichick or is it Brady? And River has one thing
to say real quick to Rob for Russia. Rob you
got it? You got it? Hey, Hey, he didn't send
(57:33):
it by himself. It does it fits perfect? Oh man,
that's great. And you got your hat too, right, yeah,
my chill fits perfect too, great? All right, perfect. Here's
the thing though, and this is goes to Marty's point.
You're not gonna now you'll learn about Belichick. If Brady
(57:54):
Say leaves next year, You'll learn about Belichick over the
next several years. All right, You're not gonna learn about Brady.
He's forty three years old. But if Brady go somewhere
and totally falls off, are we gonna say, oh, you
see it was Belichick. No, he's old. But this is
this is where you could look at it. If Belichick
wins his first year after Brady, it have to be
(58:15):
like connected, like still as the same team. He plugs
in a different quarterback said just just hypothetical, because he
plugs in Cam Newton. Just say plugs in Cam and
they wouldn't and they win the Super Bowl And next year,
after Brady's gone, it's nowhere you're gonna look at it
and go, well, it was about Brady, it would be
about Belichick. No, I would not look I would BELI
(58:37):
First of all, you're talking about a good quarterback in
Cam Newton. No, I know, but I'm not saying that's
not I mean, I'm just not talking about throwing Matt
Moore in there, not Newton in there. Yeah, but I'm
saying for them to win, it wouldn't like they would
be totally fall by the way. I would not. I
would give Belichick credit, but I wouldn't look at it
as a negative on Brady. All right, for three, Daryl
(58:58):
in Seattle, you're on the couple. What's up? Do give? Hey?
So I give Brady if Rob Parker keeps talking trash
about him, I give him two more years because all
you're doing is motivating Brady. But I know, Daryl, I'm
on all their videos. Whenever they do those like uh
(59:19):
like winning championship videos, I get like as much air
time as Tom Brady, and I gotta love you for that, man.
But on the real side, I give him, realistically, maybe
one more year. And it's not father time really catching
up with him. It's the fact that I think at
his age, I mean, he could do this for a while,
but I think he's gonna try and right off into
the sunset man, you figure he's got that sellar defense, right,
(59:42):
But you figure, depending on how New England does next year.
I got a feeling a lot of those guys who
are not gonna be taken home hometown discount. Yeah so
so like I feel like, depending on how next year
goes will definitely be his judgment call. And I don't
think it would be because the babe. I think it
will be just because New England starting to lose that
(01:00:03):
that uh it factor. All right, Daryl, good call. Let's
go to Mike in New York. Mike, you're on with
Chris and Rob. Chris, you couldn't be more naive. Christ
catching long he thought he was gonna play on a
from me right from time, pretty gonna play till forty seven.
It is Patrick Mahomes not the best quarterback in the NFL.
(01:00:25):
I didn't say I told you, but you you did said.
The fact that he was even close. He wasn't close
to play too. He was even he wasn't close that way.
He was on the sideline throwing the ball, and they
were like he practiced yesterday. He ain't practiced. The fact
(01:00:45):
that he was even hold on, Mike and hold on,
I say, Rob did I not see it here and
say it's unrealistic to play the forty seven? Yeah? I did? Okay,
all right, so go ahead, Mike. Oh well, I'm glad
you didn't believe it, all right now because he looked
a look and how's he looks? A better passer raiding
to Aaron Rodgers. How's that look doing? QBR? I'm sorry, QBR?
(01:01:12):
Better QBR? And he's storing for more yards again they played,
they played seven bad teams, but who doesn't. They're running
backs now. But Chris, I will see this. You could
Clay five held the ballst Mike appreciated Mike, Rob's cousin
from New York. That ain't my cousin. Looking at everybody
(01:01:33):
who calls on my behalf. I chexted to the works
A guy that's got your back. That's a know all right.
Things are starting to get real ugly inside Masson Square Garden.
Vince Goodwill from Yahoo Sports will explain next, but first

The only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
(01:02:16):
He's one of our favorites. He's a senior NBA writer
for YAH who does a great job covering the association
and the ex nephew of Rod Parker. Our man, Vincent Goodwill.
He dresses better than Rod Parker. No, he don't, Vinny,
Vinny be looking sharp on first things. First, it ain't
that hard to dress better than Rob Parker. Wow, true
(01:02:38):
very much, Vinny, How are you gonna treat me like that?
All the stuff I've done for you over these forty years,
I'm glad you never gave me any food. So, Vinny,
you're in New York at Madison Square Garden. We heard
the sound. Boy, did they bow the hell out of
a port? Zingis surprise you guys didn't hear from LA
because they said at seven foot three, all you heard
(01:03:00):
was boom like they boomed un a national anthem. And
here in New York that type of stuff is supposed
to be sacred trader and go back to Latvia and
all the other type of stuff. Bad. This this is
their super Bowl this year. Man, I didn't know that
Trump was at the game. I think part of it
is there. I think they're they're also upset because their
team is so bad. You know that people are angry
(01:03:22):
in New York. They are They're gonna take everybody that
they thought they had a chance at getting, anybody that
could have saved them. All right, Vinnie, let's go to
the Knicks. What are you hearing? We know there was
a story that came out that saying Steve Mills is
setting the stage to fire David Fizdale. What are you
hearing in that regard? And uh, what do you think
(01:03:43):
the near future holes for the Knicks and Fizdale? Well,
I think I think about it like this, Yaw, if
you were going to fire David Fizdel, I don't think
you would have go out here and have a press
conference on a Sunday night after losing by you know,
twenty five to the Cleveland caval like that. Just that
would be in bad tasting and bad format. You are
feed Mills and Scott Perry. So to say that they're
(01:04:06):
laying down the skids and everything else. I don't think
that's the case. I think from an accountability standpoint, it's
kind of what you want. You want your executives to
step out front and say, hey, look, we know that
this product isn't what we expected it to be. Normally,
people I think used the NX of being tone deaf,
and you know, they're not responsive to the fan base,
not responsive to the media. So to me, it wasn't
(01:04:28):
as much of a negative. I mean, Robert Parker worked
in Detroit for a number of years. Matt Millen went
through and sixteen season and basically acted like nothing was happening,
and that upset the fans more than anything else. Even
if you come out and say something wouldn't necessarily be
anything better, but at least you would have known that,
you know, it affected them in some way. So I didn't.
(01:04:50):
I didn't. I didn't. I didn't mind it. I don't
think it was good or bad. Like usually things like that,
they usually come from the top, you know, when when
it's when the fans at Jeep was screaming fire doling.
You know, I'm sure that probably got to Jim Dolan
a little bit and said, hey, you guys need to
go out here and say something. At least let the
people know that we understand and that we're here, that
(01:05:10):
you know, there's some level of accountability. And I do
think here here's the thing about the products on the
ploor Guss. Nobody's gonna look at this roster and say, hey,
this team deserves should be five hundred or whatever. Like
there's a plethora of great, great players, but just because
you're not supposed to be good doesn't mean that you
should look horrible. And they haven't looked any level of
cohesive or anything like that. You can have an under
(01:05:31):
you can have a roster that doesn't have a whole
lot of individual top talent, but you should expect guys
to play better together. And I think that's kind of
what though what Steve and Scott, you know, when they
were coming out and talking to the public, I think
that's what they were trying to convey. Vinny, my little
take is like last year people could deal with that,
being like, wasn't that the worst year Nick history are
(01:05:55):
franchise history, But they had a chance to get Zion.
But after you don't get Zion, people are going to
sit through that another year and watch this mess and
just point blank if they continue to play like this
and and look bad against some bad teams when they
lost what by thirty points in that game? Right, should
Fitzdale be fired? Yes? Or no? Rob? Here's the thing, Rob,
(01:06:18):
You're not gonna pin me up against everybody else like
the little nephew. Yeah, I see, this is why Rob
can't get days. Do you like me? Yes? Or no?
So I would say about Fitzdale, he has another I'm
gonna say he has another week or whatever. I don't
(01:06:39):
think it's necessarily anything like that, but you can't come
out here have thirty point loss. Of the thirty point loss.
Even if they don't have star talent a lot of money,
they just spend a decent amount of money in free
agency on short term contracts. So they're trying to build
something to at least be able to pick a piece
or two here and there and say, hey, okay, we're
building around Barred and we'll get respectable. Right, And we're
(01:07:02):
getting respectable. So there is some short term goals that
they need to sort of figure out. It's not just
old Well, I don't have Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving or
even christ sports ingis how can it's go out here
and lose by twenty and thirty points every night? No,
I don't think that's the case. Well do I think
they're actively looking to fire fifth deal? No, because guess
what after fiough Hey, you don't have an assistant on
staff who seems to be capable enough to lead a group.
(01:07:23):
And then once you do that, you know where the
fire is going to come next, going to come back upstairs.
It's also an indictment of the front office and eventually
might go up there anyway, because things were as bad
as they are. Vince Goodwill, y'all, who's senior NBA writer
joining the Eye Couple? You're there in New York, Vince.
The Brooklyn Nets, I mean, we didn't expect them to
(01:07:43):
contend for a championship this year without Kevin Durant, but
they added Kyrie Irving and so far it's early, but
they're worse. They're four and six. What are you hearing
as far as you know what's going on in Brooklyn
and why it isn't working to this point. So it's amazing,
Right one team loses Kyrie Irving, it is and it's
(01:08:05):
not in one of the other team games Kyrie Irving,
and it's in four and seven, four and eight. And
I'm not saying he's the common denominator in all of
this to where you point to blame at him, but
he is a difficult guy to play with when he's
supposed to be your leader and your best player. And
I don't necessarily know if you have the right personnel.
While Kevin Durant is out to be able to absorb
everything that Kyrie Irving does, he does a lot of
(01:08:26):
highlights the Sports Center stuff or whatever, and it looks good.
But can a guy like that be your best player,
your most dominant personality, especially when you were a young
team that overachieved last year. After the fact that they've
had some injury issues, you're gonna have Misscarris with hurt
for four to six weeks and he's a really big
piece to what they do. That's going to put more
pressure on Kyrie Irving, more pressure on some of these
(01:08:47):
young guys who didn't have any pressure last year. Nobody
expecting anything out of Brooklyn Nets But now that you've
gotten Kyrie, DeAndre Jordan, even Kevin Durant on the men,
there's more expectations, there's more pressure, so not to put
it on him, but to say that, but to say
that he's not a part of it, that would be foolhearty,
no question about that. Uh Paul George making his clippers
(01:09:12):
scored ten points in six minutes six minutes. Do you
think there's going to be any type of transition period
where it's hard to work him in and him and
Kauhi have to, you know, figure each other out, or
do you think he steps right in when Kauhi is there,
Kauai obviously not playing the night and you know, things
kind of go seamlessly for Nicker Right's sake. I hope,
(01:09:34):
I hope that they it is not seamless, because well,
he said the seventh best team in the West, I think.
Then he said yeah. He also said that the year
to date that the UH Cavaliers got swept, they were
gonna sweep they We're gonna sweep Golden Stay. You remember
that Nick's takes sometimes are almost as bad as you,
(01:09:55):
or that's almost I would say that worse. I'm most
as bad. No, Rob, you have the acronyms that you
try to sell on t shirts. Worse Okay, no, but
but I think about when I think about Paul George
thinking about this, he show the surgery and coming back
from two shows the surgeries and being able to come
back on time. To me, that's a feed in itself, right.
(01:10:17):
So at least while having Kawhi there, you know before,
while not having Kawhi there, at least he gives them
a chance to work himself in without necessary the pressure
of having to be the number two guy. He can
play a normal sort of role that he's naturally used
to playing at this level of you know, start them
or whatever. So once he gets his feet underneath him
and Kawhi is playing regular basketball, playing every night, not
(01:10:37):
taking necessarily, you know, every fifth night off or something
like that, I think then they'll be better. I think
the Clippers are taking a long view at this. They're
not worried about playoff seeding or anything right now, and
they shouldn't be. You're worried about playing the best basketball
you can around March fifteen, give yourself a good month
to go on a good round before the end of
the regular season, get everybody healthy, get everybody right, get
(01:10:59):
all your roles set. And the way you look at it,
those two guys are so interchangeable. From a defensive standpoint,
one guy can wrest, another guy can take on, you know,
the better offensive player, and then they can interchange back
and forth offensively. Because Paul George is a pretty decent
playmaker himself and a really good shooter. So I think
on the floor it fits, and I think just from
a long term view, I wouldn't expect to see anything
(01:11:20):
that resembles a championship type of team, at least until
after the All Star break. He's been goodwill y'all. Who's
senior NBA doing good stuff? My man? We appreciate it.
Money enjoyed Rob, Rob, Rob, You didn't like that? Come on,
you don't want to go on a date with fedball talk?
So I can move on? Or wait if I come,
are you paying or what's going to? You know? Good impression?

I was feeding the baby stumbled upon a flick I'd
never seen before. I'd only heard about. It's called a
decent proposal. I don't know if you know what the
PLI but in JET what it basically is is that
a couple gets offered a million dollars by a healthy
(01:14:00):
gentleman for a night with the woman his spouse. The
wealthy man can be with his wife for exactly So
here's the question. If a man approached you with a
million dollars saying, hey, let me spend a night with
your girl. Are you taking the money or not? Do
you want me to go first? Go first? Because I'd
(01:14:22):
be like, cash me out. You serious? Come on, Chris,
that spoke, remember robbing, Wait a minute, this is the
only thing. Everybody's like holier than now when you marry
your wife, she's been with other people. You don't know that. Firs. Yes,
not every woman, but the most part every woman had
for the most part. Would you disagree with that for
(01:14:43):
the most probably unless unless your wife was a nun
before she no no, no no, and she had n
O n e. But you really, you would, you would think.
Don't think like the single fifty five year old man
you are now, Think like when, however, you we got
(01:15:03):
married thirty three, all right, think like you're thirty five,
You're you're married, You got your beautiful wife. Some dude
rolls up y'all on the cruise, y'all having a good
time on vacation, and he's like, I and your wife
she's fine, hey, you know, and he proposes it. I
give you a million dollars. Your wife's coming home with

Oh my no way, no how really that you're saying,
no how, no way, no way, no how, no way,
no how, I got a millie looking he's fling you
bring more than said he got a millie no way,
(01:15:53):
no way. That's for me only period the end. Here
you got the wrong idea because of Mike. You're a
single man too, and you ain't even divorced. Say single,
em yeah, so single thirty years old? Right, but you're
missing Chris and where robbers you're gonna get me lessons
all marriage. I'm about just at this rage you're gonna
(01:16:15):
be fifty five and single like your man. I'm just
like you've been married for a long time. I've been
out there. I know what it's like in the field.
I'm just saying, all right, go ahead. You gotta be careful.
You may gout a millie? Does she have a millie?
I know you're married, you share everything, but does she
have the ability to go get her own million dollars?
Because she may see them dollar signs walking up and
walk off. And if you say no, she can do
(01:16:37):
it anyway. And then what you do now you now
you single and broke. You gotta take it. So you
took it in a whole different direction. If your wife
wants to do it, then she ain't your wife. You
gotta you gotta get divorced. If y'all have if y'all
have a discussion and y'all go back to the room

That's that's seriously, that's a that's that's not easy, Chris,
And you know it. You know, marriage is it's a child.
(01:19:29):
I just went to a wedding last week and my
cousin right, and the minister said to the you know

That's what he said. I always say that marriage is

Brian Finley. Carmelo Anthony is finally back in the NBA,

So you know, I wish you would have got a
little better situation than that. But hey, Dwight Howard had
the same situation for the Lakers, and most people think
he's going to be a Hall of Famer, So you know,
(01:20:12):
it is what it is. But he gets his chance,
which is fine. And you know what, Chris, it had
to be humbling that you take a non he's gonna
be a Hall of Famer, that he's taking it non
guaranteed contract just to get back for a team that's
off to a bad start to a bass star got
to the Western Conference last year, right, and now they're
(01:20:33):
starting our four and eight. It's early, but this is
it's an interesting move from them. Do you think it?
What do you think it's gonna do Robs pay any dividends?
He's gonna help him, make him better. What. I'm just
not so sure. I'm not sure that's the right spot,
that it's going to work out the right way, and
it is this will this become embarrassing if Carmelo plays
Chris ten twelve games and then it released him. Remember
(01:20:55):
without having guaranteed money, they could do mean whatever they want, right,
That's what happened in Houston. In Oklahoma City, obviously you
know got rid of him. But in this case he
could wind up. It's way easier to let him go
here there's no money involved. Oh yeah, no, you're absolutely right.
Well that's why I thought. Look, it's a no risk move, no,
not at all. If he doesn't, we just cut him
(01:21:16):
when they don't have to pay him anything. If he does, hey,
it worked out. But I don't know, Rob and I'm
one I've always said Carmelo Anthony is a first ballot
Hall of Famer. I some people want to act like
that's in question. I don't see how in the world
is I just don't know college career even tho it
was one year, great Team USA career, even though you
(01:21:39):
have everybody, but you have to remember it's the Basketball
Hall of Fame, right, and then he had a great
under those circumstances, he had a great NBA career. No,
but I'm saying I think people don't think about the
college and an Olympic when they think about they think
of a guy who's never won a championship and couldn't
get to the conference finals except the one time when
Chauncey Billups joined team right, and and people look at
(01:22:02):
and the Lakers all that they wanted in that series.
I got it, they gave them all they wanted. They
lost in six games. I thought they had a good
chance to win that series. But anyway, I rob I'm
skeptical as to whether or not he can help them.
I just think the game has passed mellow by its
(01:22:23):
changed a lot. I don't disagree with you, even when
you look on you know he was posting a lot
of stuff on Instagram is playing wreck ball or wherever
he's playing. I'm sure it was with some other pros
and stuff. But even then, it was like you could
see the difference. He'd get the ball and everything would stop,
you know, and he take his time and you know,
(01:22:43):
mid range jumpers and all that, and that's good. You
know that he could score still, But I don't think
that's what teams are looking for today. For the most part,
they're certainly not looking for a ball stopper, and they
already have two guards who do all the scorer CJ.
(01:23:04):
McCollum and Damian Lillard. Mellow, I'm sure we'll come off
the bench. Maybe they're thinking we'll give that second unit
to him and he can score, but defensively he's gonna struggle.
So I just think I would be shocked rob if
this ended well like and well maybe, look, it'd be
(01:23:25):
nice if he can stay there all season, but I
don't think he's going to, you know, make any difference
in their fortunes. Like so, I think they're gonna improve
with or without Mellow, and I still think it's got
a great chance to make the playoffs. Yeah, yeah, they're
just off. But I'm with you. I think it winds
up being bad. It tells you where he is is
(01:23:46):
he wants to get back in. He didn't want to
go out like that, and he's willing to take any situation.
And then once he gets there, we gotta see ay
how he plays. And then what if, like you say,
the game has kind of passed him by Chris h
So is you gonna look out of plays? Is he
gonna look you know, like people are gonna be like, oh,
(01:24:06):
Mellow doesn't have it anymore. Mellow, Mellow's no good, you know, like,
like that's what could That's what could wind up happening
to him, And it would be unfortunate because you don't
want people to look at you. People remember the last
way they see you, right, they do a lot of
people that didn't get to see Mellow, you know, do
his thing in his prime, and this is what they're
(01:24:27):
going to remember. So, you know, I just say to Mellow, look,
it was a sixteen year career. That was great. You
think about it this way, Rob, he probably had a
better opportunity in Houston that didn't work out. He had
a better opportunity of Oklahoma City that didn't work out.
So I don't see how in the world is gonna
work out. Even when he's scoring, he's giving up so
(01:24:48):
much defensively. That and he doesn't score efficiently. He's never
been like a high percentage shooter. So we'll see. I'm
gonna watch it. This in triguing, but I'd be surprised
if it's a happy ending. Okay, speaking of happy endings,
Mike Trout third MVP Award, Roy Parker, he had a
(01:25:10):
great season. But Chris, this didn't feel good to me,
we really did. He missed too many games? Thirty twenty
eight he missed, No played one hundred and thirty four. Yeah,
he played, uh one thirty four okay, and it's one
sixty two right, Yeah, so he played, he missed twenty
eight games. That's a lot of games. Alex Bregman was
(01:25:32):
gonna get it, and Bregman, how many games did he
he played? Bregman played one fifty six out of one
sixty two And now, granted, Trout's numbers were better, although
Bregman's war was higher. And a lot of people, you
know the Saber metrics and didn't love the war, right,
So why why is that the case? And it's not
(01:25:54):
that Mike Trout didn't have a great year. And here's
the other part, Chris, the Angels were bad from almost
a jump street this year. Right, Yes, they didn't play
in any big games. They they they finished thirty five
games out of the behind in the division. They were
just playing in meaningless, meaningless games, whereas Bregman was playing
(01:26:15):
in games. The Astros were trying to get the best
record so that they could have home field. The Yankees
won one hundred and three, they won one hundred and six.
And what was the other team they were? They were
like Dodgers. I mean, if you for the who, but
you know, they were all trying to get there. And
I think that that Bregman played in a lot more
meaningful games as well and was able to put up numbers.
(01:26:37):
And let's just put it, take this out the cheating scandal.
The votes were already done before the end of the season,
so that that that didn't stop. We're not getting votes.
I hear you, Rob, and I do think there's some
truth and relevancy to what you're saying about meaningful games.
I do think this though in baseball, I don't hold
(01:26:59):
a guy team record against them. In basketball, where one
player can have a greater impact. You're not winning the
MVP if your team is not in the playoffs. And really,
other than Westbrook doing it with the triple double season,
you're not winning it unless you win fifty or more games.
That's been the case since nineteen eighty two, other than Westbrook,
(01:27:22):
as I said with the triple double, but in baseball,
in same in football, right, you gotta win some games.
In football, you're not gonna win the MVP award with
your team winning six games. But in baseball there's so
many other factors you're pitching. But here's the other thing
that I don't hold that against him. So for those
that would say, oh, his team was horrible, he shouldn't
(01:27:44):
win it, I don't agree with that. See, this is
the numbers to me, aren't that far apart. Mike Trout
should get it because Bregman had one hundred and twelve arbage,
Trout had one hundred and four. I know I got that,
but I'm miss saying numbers wise, forty one home runce
he had forty five. I get all that. And Bregman
(01:28:06):
walked one hundred and nineteen, which led the league, and
but Trout led one to the league and on base percentage,
slugging and op I get it, I get it. It
just seems to me. Don't you think Yellich was hurt
by his injury? Chriss? They called sim the MVP in
the National League, and I think I thought bel Cody
(01:28:26):
who I think. I think Yellich would have won it
had he stayed, had he not missed the last two
weeks Bellinger and I thought Bregman was basically in the
same position as as Bellinger, so I thought he was gonna.
I think he deserved it. I think Alex Bregman deserved
the MVP. It's just weird the way it worked out.
They loved Trout. Yeah, and I don't I get it.
(01:28:47):
He fills the statueety as everything going. That's three MVPs, Chris.
He won Rookie of the Year, eight All Stars, seven
Silver Sluggers. I mean, All Star MVP twice. I mean,
what hasn't he done. He's a great player this, I
mean there are those that say he might be the
greatest player we've ever seen. Still early, but yes, he's
on that track. Okay, let me ask you this. And
(01:29:09):
I just gave my spiel, which I do stand by
in baseball. You know, winning isn't It isn't the same.
Barry Bonds never want to ring, And I don't hold
that again. I mean, he's the best player I've ever seen. Okay,
but let me throw this at you, Rod Parker, Hall
of Fame voter for Baseball. Let's say Mike Trout's whole
(01:29:29):
career goals like this, where he's he's dynamite individually, but
never even gets close it? Does it? Does it bother
you a little? Though? And I and I get saying
baseball is different, But I think of all the all
the people, most of them that we think of, Babe Ruth,
(01:29:52):
Barry Bonds, didn't win a champion, Willie mays U, you
know most of the great right, yeah, most of the greats.
We think of all the Yankees, of course. But does
it would it put a little taint on him? Yes?
If he never played like in any big games or
(01:30:13):
play like he's been in the playoffs one time and
I think they got swept in in the one series
that he played in, it wouldn't totally take away from
his greatness, but it would be like we never saw
him on the big stage perform or you know what,
I mean like, yeah, because I I think of and
I'm sure there's some some some I'll give you my
carew He never they never got close to him. There
(01:30:36):
were there were a couple of times when he was
with the Angels, Yeah, latest crip, but here was a
perfect win. Yeah, they went to the World Series a
couple of times, but they didn't win. But I think
the one that you're you're right about it would be
like Reggie Jackson. He was a great player, but we
saw him. He was mister October. Am I right? Don't
you remember Reggie hitting big home runs in and playoffs
(01:30:57):
in World Series games? Yep, more so than whatever he
did during the regular And he was a great player,
no doubt. That's that's the I guess the good comparison.
It's interesting, all right, eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox A seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Did Mike Trout deserve to win the al MVP or not?
(01:31:17):
And should the fact that his team did not make
the playoffs count against him? You may disagree with my
philosophy in baseball. We'll continue the conversation with you. Next.

not like sinister, but some other things, like to play
with his head, being that kind of role or whatever,

That's in the United States of America only. All right,
we're throwing it out to you, guys. Mike Trout wins
his third MVP award, beating out Alex Bregman of the
(01:33:09):
Houston Astros, who went to the World Series and had
a higher war than Mike Trout. What do you guys
think is it justified? Let's start with Chris in Missouri. Chris,
you're on with the Eye Couple. Hey, good evening from
Southwest Missouri. Fellas, what I'm all right? I have something
that's gonna make a lot of sense for everybody listening,
(01:33:31):
especially those baseball fans like I am. Like I am.
All right, let's hear it. Bregman has to be the
MVP right there for multiple reasons. But I'll tell you why.
The MVP lifts up his team. He makes everybody around
him better, and he's part of a winning organization. Now
you talk about Trout getting his third MVP, look at
(01:33:53):
all those years and now we're really seeing at what
Clayton Kershaw who he really is. He's miss to a
regular season. Trout's mister regular season. Which, by the way,
when you're talking about great players who never got a
World Series, you gotta remember Ernie Banks. I mean, Arnie
is a good one. Ted Williams, I'm not even talking
about just didn't get a World Series but didn't really
(01:34:14):
even get close. But here here, Chris, let me throw
this at you and keep Chris on the line. I
hear what you're saying. In football and basketball. You gotta
admit baseball's different. You might I might hit four hundred,
for goodness sake, and if the pitch is no good right,
it doesn't matter what it's Oh, guys, you're just missing.
(01:34:38):
I'm I'm not trying to discount what Trout does. Everybody's
gonna remember. And eventually I believe that they're gonna build
a winning culture there and they're just gonna have to
develop it. And it might be towards the latter part
of his career where we catch them on the backside. Well,
you gotta remember, they just hired Joe Madden. They didn't
go out and get a big time manager, and they
got money. The Angels have money to There's a lot
(01:35:00):
of people that think they're gonna get Garrett Cole. I
believe they'll be in the mix. Watch well real quick
on that Garrett Cole. Nobody talks about this. He's gonna
go to the Giants because his brother in law is
Brandon Crawford, shortstop, starting shortstopper San Francisco Giants. Nobody talks
about that. But if you pay any attention to the
backside of baseball, family's wildly important in the Crawford family
(01:35:24):
and Chris, we'll see you with that. I think it's
gonna come down to Greenback. Let's do what I agree family. Hey,
Ryan and Kentucky, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up Ryan? What you got? Yeah? I
was just had of having comparison as well. I see
as compared to King Grify Junior, you know, never went,
never went, never really got close. He went to the
(01:35:45):
I think alc has at the Mariners one time, and
then other than that, never never even got close. Other
than that, he's a great one. You're right, that's that's
a good point. Had he not got hurt, he would
probably have been, you know, considered one of the greatest
of all times, no doubt those four years in Cincinnati
when he was hurt most of those first four years.
Had he been healthy and continued, he was the one
(01:36:06):
who would have had the home run record, right, he
would have had the home run record, no doubt. I agree, Thanks, Ryan,
appreciate it. Let's go to Joseph in Indiana. Joseph, what's
happening brother? How you guys doing tonight? Man? Oh question?
I have not received my odd couple hat yet from
music from It's It's in the mail. It's in the mail, Joseph. Remember, okay,
(01:36:33):
don't worry, Okay, but I don't think Mike Trumt Louise
because he missed too many games and all that. And
I have friends who were bouting now for when Christianility
got hurt to get the MVP, and I said Tody
Bellinger was gonna get because Tody Bellinger didn't get hurt
and he played really well this year. I agree, Joseph.
(01:36:57):
We we said the same thing. I remember the day
Ellen's got hurt and we talked about, right, we were
not gonna win MVP because of because of that, because
he's gonna miss those games at the end, and it
hurt him, but I didn't hurt Trout. Yeah, that's that's
a bit odd. Rob Parker. Uh, you dogged them, you
dogged me. Let me remind you. Game up fourteen nothing
(01:37:23):
and Jos just got knocked out of the game, did he?
I didn't see that. I didn't see it. Was it
a bad hitt A helmet, the helmet, the helmet. So
he's done, got knocked out, too bad. But anyway, Juju's
having a tough year. Funny when you ain't got another
guy on the side. Well, no, I don't have Ben Roethers.
(01:37:43):
But what I'm just saying, no, Chris, you out didn't tougher?
Is tougher when there's nobody else there on the other side.
I feel you. Let's go to Kevin in more Park,
More Park, California. Kevin, Welcome to the Odd Couple guys.
Thank you for taking my love it. Thank you, buddy.
Check it out. You take Trout off of the Angels?
(01:38:04):
How how much worse are they album? Come on? Right? No,
what I'm saying you take Bregman's not playing for the Astros.
They're still not getting to the world Series. You think,
come on, no, but it can't be just that. So
you wait. So you're saying, without Bregman, they still get
to the World Series, they get further than the Angels
(01:38:27):
without Trout. Yeah, but you're saying Trout should get it.
He is the real you say, he is the real MVP.
But but Kevin, let me ask. He's the best player
in baseball. Give you that, But but it ain't a
Lifetime Achievement award. My main problem we're talking about MP. Kevin,
here's my main problem. It's not the record of the team.
It is the fact that he missed twenty eight games
(01:38:49):
because he got injured. And part of the job is
being there, it's being a v and it costs Yellow
chits MVP. Don't you think in the National League? Kevin,
I'm sorry, what was the question. Yellis got hurt at
the end of the year for the brute cost him
is MVP. Don't even talk to me about the National League.
I'm a diehard Dodger fan. Bellinger getting the award means
(01:39:10):
nothing to me. I want trophy is not individual You
might be waiting for sure. Eighty eight that was my
that was all. That's all I got to say nineteen
eighty eight, I'll not listen. But hey, real quick though,
seriously trout the way he missed games because of the
way he plays. He's like Pete Rose. He's one hundred
and ten percent every single day. Yeah he is, and
(01:39:32):
that I wonder if voters took that into account. Yeah,
but you still got to be available. That was a
lot of games he missed. That's all I'm saying. Yeah,
I'm interested. Christ I think Madden's gonna do something with him.
Oh no, I they got talent, you know, oh Tony. Yeah,
if they go out and get a number one rotation, yea,
(01:39:54):
all right. Russell Westbrook just fired a verbal shot at
one of the best players in the West best defenders,
Rob g what are you doing? Best? Hold on, get
on the mic. Patrick Beverley is one of the best
players the fact in the Western Conference. Thanks for blowing
the teas again, Chris. The whole point of a tease
(01:40:16):
to pull back the radio curw. But people around and
when you try to bring it down, like you know what,
it's just a mediocre players shot at So it's not
that big a deal. It's easy for you to say
that when my name is on the quote people, You're
not the one that people are gonna be tweeting about
and saying, Chris bruss and Patrick Beverley is one of
(01:40:37):
the best is gonna tweet that out? I promise you
one of the best players. How about this on the Clippers?
Looking into that next and so much more. We're trolling
and rolling in our man, Martin wis that's next, But
first be sure to catch live editions of The Odd
Couple with Chris Brussar then Rob Parker weekdays at seven
(01:40:57):
pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the iHeart Radio app. It is time, folks, for trolling
or rolling Tom Brady. He's done. Aaron Rodgers did not
have a Pro Bowl season trying to get it's trolling
(01:41:19):
or rolling, trolling Roland that's right. I'm Martin White's your host,
and I'll break down the rules for you real quick.
If Robin Chris liked the like the story, you hear
you hear the roll sound. And if they disagree, you
hear the troll sound. Oh man, hey, hey, hey, hey,
hey hey. Now Tom Brady is one of the most
(01:41:41):
accomplished quarterbacks in the history of football, and it's in
part because of his passion for winning. Rob's here, I
want to get the things off to a good start.
When he was asked about the last time he played
the Philadelphia Eagles, which was, of course, the Super Bowl
lost to Chris's guy, Nick Foles, listen to what Brady
had to say about it. You assume I'm over it.
That's a lot of mental scar tissue from that year.
(01:42:01):
So in a lot of ways, I think we, uh,
you know, we learned from that year and we came
back stronger than next year. Rob, are you trolling or rolling?
Tom Brady hanging on tight to this super Bowl loss
from years ago? I'm rolling with it. He should, He
should hang on to it. He was the one who
cost him the Super Bowl. He's the one who had
(01:42:23):
the strip or who had to fumble or whatever the
strip sack. He's the one who costs up the ball.
With two minutes in sixteen seconds to go, as they
were driving down by five, it was time for Brady.
And if you remember that Super Bowl, don't forget Brady
missed that pass. Remember when they ran out with that
Philly Special and Brady looked like a Roseanne Bard going
(01:42:43):
out for a pass. He couldn't catch it. In fact,
if I was gonna be honest about it, Brady cost
the Patriots all three of the Super Bowls that they lost.
Tom Brady should hold on to it and much on it,
because he's the blame. I'm rolling with Brady. Let not
for the same reasons as Rob Parker. I love the
(01:43:05):
competitive competitiveness. I got six, but I'm not satisfied. I
want seven. And what are he doing that game? Rob Parker?
He fumbled the ball after he got no What else
did he do? He also missed the pass when they
threw a pass to him. What else did he do?
He also left points on the field early on in
the first half with the five hundred and five yards.
(01:43:26):
Thank you. The game about points, not about yar. He
threw for a playoff record quit five hundred and five yards.
He had three touchdown passes, zero interceptions. Stop it, Rob Parker?
Is it about yards of points? What is it about?
I never seen him put up yards on the scoreboard
right to determine who's the winner. We're strolling ten years
(01:43:49):
by Tom Brad That's right. And now you wonder why
I said one of the most I had to get
himself to a good starter, trolling and rolling odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. The Clippers have two great defenders
and Kawhi and Paul George, who made his debut tonight,
but there's no question that Patrick Beverly is Los Angeles'
energy guy. He's known as one of the best defenders
in the league and according to Rob g one of
(01:44:10):
the best players. Listen to Patrick Beverly's enemy number one,
Russell Westbrook on his defense at BET trick y'all man
like he played defense. Nobody manages running as you've seen
what happened forty seven, all that commotion to get thirty seven? Chris,
are you trolling or rolling? Russ's take, I'm trolling it,
(01:44:30):
oh man, Hey, hey hey. Patrick Beverley is a legitimately
great defender, period and last night the stats board that out.
When he guarded James Harden, Harden was zero for six
from the field, zero for six, oh for six. He
didn't score on a basket on Patrick Beverly. And I
(01:44:53):
remember Patrick Beverley last year granted Kevin Durant for some
reason stop shooting, but still Beverly was all up in
Kevin Durant. Beverly is legit Russ was Hayden, I'm trolling
it as well. Oh man, we agree on this. Hey, hey, hey,
there is no question mark about Patrick Beverly stopping. He
(01:45:15):
is a tremendous defender. Chris, you just gave some good
numbers to prove it out. But just watch the man.
That's a eye test, no doubt. He's in your underwear.
He's all over you. And you know what. I always
love Lonzo's first game with the Lakers when Beverly took
him right as a guy. I loved it just from
(01:45:41):
the standpoint that he has to fight his way to
get into the NBA. He makes you earn it. There's
nothing wrong with that, am I right? Hey kid, you're
the number two pick. All this magic said your jersey
gonna be up in the rafters. Okay, so dribble a
ball by me, earn it? I love it Trolling a
rolland on a couple of Fox Sports Radio. So guys,
(01:46:03):
you remember last week's trolling a rolland when Doc Rivers
said he was done challenging calls, Well that didn't last
very long because he challenged a call last night and
after a disagreement, he ended up getting ejected by Tony Brothers.
Behind Tony Brothers was Doc's son, former clipper Austen, yelling
throw him out, throw him out and making a technical
file sign behind him with his hands. Austen later tweeted, well,
(01:46:28):
Thanksgiving will be awkward, Rob, are you trolling or rolling?
Austen helping his dad get kicked out of the game.
I'm rolling with it. Once we step out on the court,
it's about the ball game. We could be dad and son. Later,
I loved it. Dad's acting up. Get his butt out
of here. That'll help us win the game. Of My
(01:46:49):
dad won't be there because he's a championship caliber coach.
So if I could get him out of the game
and we could get a w I'm all for it.
We'll make it up. I'll give him an extra pizza,
turkey on things skipping. I'm rolling with it as well.
It was a fun moment. It was It was fun
to watch, and you know, it's all good in the
family and they'll have a good Thanksgiving dinner. Doc, you know,
(01:47:13):
he he I don't know if he would have wanted
Austin to get ejected, but you know, he's just as
competitive as his son. I'm sure he respects that competitive
fire in Austin, So I'm cool with it. It's all good.
Houston needed to win too. They're playing well. They actually
are playing really good basketball and an extra trolling or
rolling Tonight last night, the Lakers thumped out an underman
(01:47:35):
Warriors team one hundred and twenty to ninety four. After
the game, Lebron was asked how he felt playing the
Warriors without their usual cast of characters like Kevin, Kevin Durant,
Steph Curry, Klay Thompson. He responded to saying, no, it's
not weird. In fact, he went so far to say, quote,
I played them in the finals without Kyrie and Kevin,
So no, Chris, are you trolling or rolling? Lebron bringing
(01:47:59):
up the pass, I'm rolling. Don't forget, don't forget that performance.
Oh we lost, and something like Ron Parkolo's say, it's
just another loss in the finals, one of six. Lebron
didn't get it done. But those of us who remember
(01:48:21):
the man had a magnificent series by himself. Matthew della
Vedova on one wing, I can't even think of the names,
and some of the other guy j R. Smith or
the other Jan was the go to guy other than Lebron.
I mean it was. It was ridiculous who he was
out there with, and they gave the Warriors all they wanted.
(01:48:43):
Wasn't on that too? He was killing all right? So
just remember he was letting you know, it's not as
simple as saying, I'm three and six in the finals.
Know the details, that's right. You know I'm trolling it.
Oh man, hey, hey, hey, Lebron, get over it. Stop it.
I mean, what do you twist the point you're trying
(01:49:05):
to make. You know, Lebron that he was great in
that series. He still lost. He lost. That's the bottom line.
Sports has a short menu. Chris Bussard wins and losses.
That's all that matter. Green Bay Packers, that's all right.
In the playoffs, hey, they're gonna get to the playoffs
or they ain't too. They'll be in the playoffs, and
(01:49:25):
you know what to speak of that real quick? Nick
White stole Why did you see his power rankings? No?
I did see put the Fackers number one. What do
you think of that? I thought you people listening to
the show Nick playoffs? That's right, But no, Lebron, come on, man,
just keep going forward, you really are you gotta stay
(01:49:51):
in character. You really rolling with Lebron You know that?
All right? All right, that's our man job, Martin Martin

Chris and Rob wrapping up a TV theme show Thursday.
This sounds like Mash. It is Mash. This is Mash.
It's a different earlier. This isn't the one. The other
one didn't have words. The one on the show is
just instruments. Beat sounds different beat the music boo pool. Yeah,
(01:50:57):
this is uh, this is a different version. But you
weren't born and when mass was hot, so I will
forgive you. Yeah, I think this might have been from
the movie. And yes, yes, I want to do this
one because I'm from Toledo. And Jamie Farr, who is
Clinger on the show, he's from Toledo when he always
referenced Toldo in the shows like the mud Hens or
damn singing? Was that singing? No, it's not okay. So
(01:51:17):
what's the tie between this version and Jamie Farr? I
don't know. I think I just played the movie. He
just played. He just bea didn't get the wall. I'm
just Chris. All right. We're a couple brought to you
by Discover. We treat you like you would treat yourself. Rob,
Paul George's back. Kawhi Leonard and Patrick Beverley are out though.
(01:51:38):
Low management from there down bigger here. Look at this
to tatter up ninety seven ninety four on the Pelicans.
How much time was up? I didn't see that forty
seconds in the third quarter. Oh yeah, so I got
will be a good Paul George. Look, twenty six points
in three quarters, So dis your nights. He's playing twenty
six points his first game back from injury. If you're a.
(01:52:00):
You gotta feel good for that, no question. I mean,
that's gonna be interesting to see how it all works.
I mean, I think they'll both fit in seamlessly. See
them having a problem. I mean, Paul George didn't have
a problem working at working with Russell Westbrook, so there
you go. I think that he will be fine with Kauai.
(01:52:21):
All the other players know their role. But it'll be interesting.
Are you where you at on the Clippers? I mean,
they obviously had the loss last night, but we haven't
seen them hold yet. No, I'm I'm still yeah, I'm
still waiting to see what this is like once they
have everybody they incorporated playing. I still like this team
a lot, Chris. They're seven and two with Kauai, seven
(01:52:42):
and four with us over six and six and two
with Kauai No. Seven and two, seven and four two
without him. Right, Well, now, the Lakers are playing good.
You gotta admit that what you think about them. But
I never said they weren't. No, I know, but I
mean the bottom line comes down to them and the
(01:53:02):
Clippers as far as I'm concerned. So what do you
I'm still you know, they're playing really well. Um, maybe
a little surprise at the record nine and two. Well,
typically when Lebron has teamed with a new star, they
struggle in Cleveland when he first went there with Kauhi
and Kevin Love. They struggled in Miami. I'm sorry Kyrie
(01:53:25):
and Kevin Love in Miami when he was with when
he was there, remember that start, Yeah, it was it
was rough early and then they caught their stride. But
they are cruising. Man, They're smooth. Dwight Howard's been reborn.
Uh bother you at all or concern you a little? No?
I mean I actually think they should just get it
taken care of, like if it's if it's a significant
(01:53:48):
or a legitimate injury, which it is definitely legitimate. City
Mount until you get it to help is something that
if doctors are saying, look, it's not gonna heal without surgery,
and surgery would keep you out for the season. Then
play through the pain and that would scare. But if
it's one of those things where if you if you
rest three weeks, you will come back one hundred percent,
(01:54:11):
I would say resting three weeks. The thing that bothered
me is he said anything I do it hurts like that.
Did you read that quote, like, yeah, it wasn't like
well if I do that or if he was like anything,
but he's playing fine. No, No, I think you know,
people have compared it to what Paul George played through
last year and then he had offseason surgery and be
the same kind of thing. Yeah, So I'm not I'm
(01:54:34):
not overly concerned with it, but I do think the
Lakers should just try to get it taken care of now,
you know, get it out of the way so that
there's no problems later on with Anthony Davis, because man,
I'll tell you, Rob, it is going to be a
dog fight between the Clippers and the Lakers for the West.
And I don't want to just you know, dismiss all
(01:54:58):
the other teams out West, because there's gonna be other teams.
In Denver, Utah, they look like the two best teams
after the in to Houston, I mean Houston off to
a great star. Yeah, they're playing well. They beat the
Clippers last night, so they're they're playing well. They don't
defend much, and Westbrook and Hardened kind of excel when
the others are on the bench, but they are, they're
(01:55:22):
still playing good basketball. And they're eight and three, so
they're gonna have something to say about that Western Conference
as well. Cleveland browns Uh, I'm accepting apologies, Rod Parker, No,
not yet. What about tomorrow? Not yet? If they win,
if they wouldn't, there be four and six. Yeah, but
but two in a row, easy schedule. We'll see. I'm
(01:55:45):
still together. I'm still not there yet. I think they
dug themselves a bigger hole than I thought in the beginning.
And now that margin of er or the bad part is, Chris,
you can't lose, you know, if you lose one game,
you're really on the on the cusp, and if you
lose two then you're almost out, no question, no question.
So all right, good show today, brother, Yes, that's good
