(00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. All, Yeah, it is
The Odd Couple. I am your host, Chris Bruce. Are
(00:47):
the lasside my partner Rob Parker? No, Rob Parker's still
in Antarctica. You might be frozen by this point. In
for him is my man. We go way back, long
time buddy of mine. Jason McIntyre, Jay Mack, and we
(01:08):
are coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent of
more on your car insurance. So visit Geico dot com,
get yourself some free money and a free rate. Quote,
Jay Mac, what's happening? But a life is could hold up?
I gotta I gotta come clean here? Are we sure
Parker's in Antarctica? Yeah? He I think today they were
(01:32):
going from Antarctica to Chile. I did FaceTime with him.
You looked like he was here, look like yes, of course.
First I told him I think he's gonna be the
third African American ever to set foot. And then when
he FaceTime to me yesterday from the cruise boat and
I said, I know you the only brother there, he
(01:53):
said no, and he showed me like there's like he
lefting other black people. They were all sitting in the
cafeteria in college. They were all sitting together and with
a lady friend. No, he went by himself, but it
was he showed me it was actually a lot of
new negroes expanding now doing different things. I can look
at you. Wow. See, I don't mind talking about race.
(02:16):
There's a difference between being racial and racist, and we've
lost that. We can't even publicly talk about race anymore.
You know what I'm saying. Come on now, you know
you shouldn't be out there talking being racist, but you
should be able to talk about probably not be out
there being racist, correct Christmas section, right, But I'm saying that,
(02:36):
but you can talk. We can talk about race. I
can people other people scared. But anyway, welcome man. Yeah,
it's great to be I haven't seen you really that
as much as we need to chop it up yourself together. Yeah,
back in the day when I think we challenged you
to a one on one matchup, it never up. Oh
(02:56):
stop it stop one minute and he's pounding the way.
Did you get the jet up? And then we called
the gem and they said we have summer campuside open
you you backed out. I would never back down. I
would have one because here here's the thing, here's where
I scared him. I'm gonna drop because first he's talking
(03:18):
all this trash. You one on one, We're gonna play
one on blah blah blah. So then a guy that
has played with both of us, Yes, I played him
in one on one for some reason, he thought he
could be he's much younger, he could be signy. You
could post it. But but I wore him out. You
shot him, and then you saw him the next day
(03:40):
and you heard about it. The scuttle but was going
around FS one and he said to you, uh, you
might not score. And then and then I told Jay Man,
I said, look, it's not about me winning. I'm gonna win,
but I ain't going to shut you out. I'm gonna
be mad if it's seven to one or eleven. The
(04:00):
one I'm gonna shut you out. And that's when you
got scared. Oh gosh, are you out of it? It It
was like Ali I did on him. I just totally
psyched him out done. The guy who knows, the guy
who knows both of us is a good shooter, good
player in a five of five. He's a lot slower
than me. He's not as in shape as I am.
I'm a lot stronger, more physical than him. I can
(04:22):
handle you in the post, Okay, I know I can.
My jumper is wet. I've got the lebron thirty four
and a half year old jumper working. I don't know
what your game is. I hear. I'm basically about to
retire because last time I played, I hurt my back.
So such happens when you've been around for a lot
of decades. All right, But anyway, speaking of basketball, let's
(04:45):
get right into it. Uh. Y'all know Rob G the superproducer,
and let me introduce the crew to DJ Alex Tyson
on the ones and twos on the Worship Wednesday. No
intern in today? Wow? Okay, who's doing the updates today?
We got Brian my man, Brian Finley. All right, that's
the I couple, crew, let's get to it, rob G.
(05:07):
Supposedly as a Lakers fan, but yet yesterday he was
disrespected the greatest Laker of them all, Magic Johnson, basically
saying Magic wasn't all that good in the front office
or as a point as a player. So we forbade
him from speaking about basketball, so you will not hear
him in this segment. He no longer can talk NBA
(05:29):
basketball in our show. All right, but today, Rajon Rondo
had a quote after last night's great win over the
Denver Nuggets. Rondo, in a story in The Athletic, has
a quote, I may need Rob you to read it.
He can still do the technical things like that, but
he can't give his opinion because it's just so off.
(05:51):
But go ahead, rob G. That's right on the heels
of Anthony Davis dropping twenty five and ten and playing
stifling defense against Nikoliokich and Jamal Murray, not to mention
having to have an IV at halftime because he was sick.
This is what Rondo said after the game. He's a
super elite player, if not the best player in the game.
Right now. Okay, So here's first of all, here's the problem,
(06:17):
Rob G. Texts me immediately after he reads that quote,
I told you A D is better than Lebron. Rondo
said he's better than Lebron. First of all, Rondo didn't
say that. He said if not the best player in
the world. He says, he's in the discussion, and I'm
fine with that. If you want to throw him in
the discussion. He's not the best player in the world.
(06:38):
But if you want to throw him in the discussion, fine,
But Rob g is just hell bien on saying that,
Rondo said he's the best player in the world, So
we'll go with it. Lebron not only is Anthony David
is not the best player in the world because Jannis
is undoubtedly better. Kevin Duran when healthy is undoubtedly better.
(07:03):
Kawhi Leonard when he chooses to play, is better, load
management fraud. And you know who else is better? Lebron James.
He's not only the not only the not the best
player in the world. He's not the best Laker. And
this is nothing against a D. He is a fantastic player,
but Lebron James is the engine that makes the Lakers go.
(07:27):
Do you disagree? J mat uh slight disagreement. Chris bruchhard. Uh.
You know, I like to actually bring stats and numbers
to the table, you know, to cut of because can't
watch the game, and you can make it. You don't
have no items. When people numbers all the time, they
don't they don't watch blend. It's a healthy blend. So
let's look at the numbers, shall we. Anthony Davis second
(07:49):
in the NBA and blocks two point seven per game.
He was the leader until this week. NBA player is
Jonathan He's all that nice. No NBA player if situency
rating the most comprehensive metric out there to gauge someone's efficiency.
Anthony Davis five, Lebron six close, very close? Does wait
(08:12):
a minute? Wind shares per forty eight minutes? Lebron nine
Anthony Davis four defensive wind shares. All of the numbers
point right now to Anthony Davis having a better statistical
season than Lebron. I will agree with you on this.
Lebron's the most important player on the Lakers. He leads
the team and assists. He's the big veteran. Everybody listens
(08:35):
to him. He's won titles. Anthony Davis hasn't won squat However,
Anthony Davis is the best player, Chris. I likened this
to with the Warriors, Steph Curry was the most important
player on that team. Everybody had to focus on where
Curry was. He was the engine. But Kevin Durant last
year was the best player on the Warriors. I think
(08:55):
Anthony Davis is the best. Lebron the most important is that? OK?
To say backing it up with numbers, No, Now, I
do agree with your Golden State assessment, and I've said
that myself many times. Steph was the most important Warrior.
Durant was the best best player. They're not even the
(09:15):
discussion of Durant just he's a seven foot version of
step In to some degree and a better defender. Anthony
Davis is great, and he's certainly better than Lebron defensively,
but on the offensive end is where it really tilts
heavily to Lebron. And you're right, Lebron is the most
important Laker, but a d is great. But offensively, Lebron
(09:36):
makes them go. He's playing point guard and he's playing
it better than anybody in the league. Correct. However, still
giving your twenty five night, they had Lebron last year
making the engine go and the engine sputtered and petered
out and read out of gas when they were fourth
in the West right around Christmas time. Right now, it's
(09:59):
eighteen three, best record in the NBA. J Mack. Nobody's
saying they don't need a D. All right, what but
last year that's not fair. Lebron got hurt and then
it all went south. Yes, Secondly, it's not the same
team and I'm not similar similar team. Take a D
off of this team, and no, they're not winning the championship.
(10:20):
They're not eighteen and three. Take Lebron off the team
and no, they're not winning the championship. So you need
them both. Nobody's dismissing that. But how about this, if
you keep a D and no Lebron versus if you
keep Lebron and no. AD is a point guard, he's
a distributor. He can do more, he can do more.
Is as simple as that, Yanni that there's no look
(10:43):
in a D. I don't want to disrespect a D
because he is fantastic, but Yannis is better. We've seen
a D with his own team. How did it go?
How did it got to the second round? Doesn't playoffs? Once?
Did he? Yea his cousins, Ray, Jean Rondough, Drew Holliday,
two big they had talent. If they were in the East,
(11:05):
do they do what the Bucks didn't eat? Speculate. I
bring facts, don't bring feelings to a fact. There's the
feelings they were in the West. To Marcus Cousins that
Davis had no chance, that is the first Why not
if he's the best player. The best dynasty at NBA
history was in the West. I wasn't saying you gotta
win at all. How about I didn't buy them? How
about just making the playoffs several times and and doing
(11:28):
some Backland Cousins and Davis were together. I mean, look
at what Look at what Denver did last year. Cousins
kept getting hurt. What a Denver do? They were? What
the conference final? That's what they did. Portland made no
Portland may come round. They made the second lost and
gain seven at home to Portland with seven fakes. They
weren't They didn't do more than New Orleans ever did.
(11:49):
With Ad Satan saying second round, not swept in the
second by the Warriors. These guys off to Portland, Portland
the one time in seven part. I think we're agreed
a lot on this. Okay, I think we're agreeing that
Lebron's the most important, but Anthony Davis is the best.
I'm not saying Anthony Davis is the best. I think Lebron.
You know who they're going to final two minutes they're
(12:11):
posted up Anthony Davis game. But with two minutes, tie game.
Because Lebron's a smart player. Why because Anthony Davis is
freaking unstoppable. Really, what does he do this? He gets
to the foul line every single time because nobody can
check him. Nobody can check a D in the block.
He made the playoffs twice in seven years. Oh so
(12:31):
now we're rehashing his history in New Orleans, Like, come on,
I'm just saying it's the number one guy. That's what
he did in the West. He goes he goes to
the free throw line eight times a game. That's nice.
This is like this, Yeah, I also three times listen,
I look, And I'm not trying to dismiss a D.
I'm just saying, if you watch the game, that he
(12:52):
is great defensively, maybe the defensive player. About this, If
I opened my offensively, Lebron makes everything goes. AD's not
a great out. I shoot, no, he's not a unstoppable
fourth in the post. By the way, they're both thirty
four percent on threes. Lebron Nada. If I open my
Twitter right now, I guarantee you there are some knuckleheads
(13:13):
out there. Whoa whoa whoa. Boussart said, best player in LA.
You guys are forgetting Kawhi Leonard is in Los Angeles.
And it's funny because when this topic came up, Chris,
I don't even consider Kawhi Leonard on the level of
Lebron and Anthony Davis. I'm sorry, I don't what. He's
a load management guy. Yeah, thirty four and a half.
He's not taking games off. Kawhi Leonard not injured in
(13:36):
the off season. I'll get I'll give you that. Can't
I can't respect. I get that, okay, but I get
that Kawhi Leonard has removed himself because of his load
management from any regulars, even if they win the title,
just so you know, no, no, no, no, no, even
they win the title. No, you can't take this off.
Let me get the respect. By the way, his title
over the Warriors cannot feel whatever. That doesn't mean. First
(13:58):
of all, he's got the respect because if you didn't
have to respect who was courting him as much as anybody, Lakers,
Lebron James, that's where in the world. So don't tell
Anne Anthony Davis. So don't tell me he doesn't have
to respect. Paul George left Russell Westbrook, who he signed
up with. Everybody leaves well, but Paul George signed up
to Blake. Paul George signed up to play with him
(14:21):
and left him in heart beat to go play with
Kawhi couldn't get out of the first round with Russell Westbrook.
So my point is, Kauai, don't for you to see here.
You're gonna have people saying you don't know basketball. If
you say Kauhi is not on the level, because I
give you the mana that he's ridiculous. Of course he
(14:42):
is when he is straight dominant. But tell me you
don't disrespect him a little bit because I don't like it.
I don't like it. It's a bad precedent I don't like.
Now here's the thing, Chris if and that's the reason
ratings are down. So the Lakers, literally the regular Lebron
is back to back tonight in Utah. They were in
Denver at altitude. Now they got Utah Kawhi. Leonard would
(15:04):
sit this game out to the right. I'm sorry, that's
why I go Lebron Anthony days. I feel you and
that's fine, But to say he's not, because what do
you guys say eight seven seven ninety nine on fix
eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
You see, I gotta feist the one up in here.
Who is the best player on the Lakers right now?
(15:27):
Lebron James or Anthony Dave. I gotta write and vote
Alex Caruso aka the White Mamba. Hey, by the way,
Alex Caruso almost every night, look at the box score,
leads the Lakers in plus minus vocal has a lord
at the end of every game. Raine, great, next thing,
(15:47):
you know, you're gonna be telling me he's better than
a D and n get me. Oh, so stop it you.
I'm gonna had to put you on pro Bay like
Rob g if you keep saying stuff like this over Pat,
did you ever play? I can't wait till do you
ever play organized yesterday? The organized ball at any level?
(16:11):
Sixth grade, seventh grade? Yeah, I couldn't make the high
school said, oh that matters, all right, it's the it
does I never fought in the Civil War, but talking
out of me about it, Chris, I saying, talk, you're
talking about playing. It does matter. You played in six
and can play also. And that was it. That was
come CD on the wooden floor. It's the Eye Couple.

Who is the Laker's best player? Lebron James or Anthony Davis.
Oh boy, look at the lines all start no, no,
hey the fourth one. Relax, J So you got thanks
(17:43):
for taking my call. Terms to the Lakers and Lebron
James is clear the batman. Anthony Davis is definitely robbin.
They're both off to a good starts, no averaging about
the same point, you know. Davis nine rebounds and the
good with the block. Lebron's leading the league and assists.
Point of fact is this, as you said, Lebron James
is the engine that makes the offer and school he
does see engine mixed the team go. He is the
alpha mill if he equivalent of John Stockton and carmelone,
(18:05):
except that John Stockton was six eight two forty and
top five all time in NBA PLU. So it's clear,
you know. And Anthony David he has more of a
Scotty tipping personality. Hold, let's run that Stockton thing. He said.
If Stockton was six eight two forty, that is way
too much everything overall, that's not a bad take on
(18:26):
that's a good take In conclusion and conclusion, Jack, I'm
a big fan to Big league, but please, my friends,
you need to put some respect on Kawai's names. Okay,
thank you, thank you, Lord management fraud. Let's go to
Sean and Sacramento. Sean, you know with Chris and j
mac Man when you quit together. My favorite Saturday morning
I was in my favorite weekday rime homes Many. Let's
(18:48):
go ye Ebony ol White Soul ire all over the
radio for everybody who enjoy man Ebony. Y'all too young
to remember that song. Go ahead, Shan happening. You gotta
stop ducking this one on one battle against Jason. I
can't call you the one on one champion. You keep
running every time j Max Show was faced on the
(19:08):
basketball of course, stay in the in the studio here, Sean,
I love the stuff. Shot to drive up to you.
What happened? He d up. I was there with my unit.
I had my shorts on my shoes every day, just
lying lie in my bag. That day. It was my guy.
Thank you for Sean. What's your comment? So if our
comment is man, J Mack is on fire as usual? Dude,
(19:32):
how are you gonna say Lebron is still the number
one on that team when it's the same team from
last year and look at the same team it's brandon
ingram there lines on ball. Josh Hart, how's it the
same team because Lebron took that team? You start on
five different What was that? What were they doing the
first quarter last year? Christen four seed in the West,
(19:54):
they were barely came back. He couldn't do nothing now
still but I'm one. He still was banged up. But
it's why Lebron was courting him for a last year.
You say saying a D is not important, and he
has had a great impact, But we've seen a D
is a great number two. That's what he is. We've
(20:14):
seen him. We saw him for seven years as the
number He is a great number two. Joseph in Virginia.
You're on with the eye couple even tell us how
are you? We're great, brother, how are you doing well? Chris?
I'm with you. Lebron is and it's just because in
my eyes, he's the first NBA self made players. Well,
(20:36):
no matter what team he's goes, no matter what team
he goes to, he's going to be the center of
that offense. And he can't help it. He's just that great.
As far as ad not being a number one, brother,
I can't. He's a great number one. Really, Ree has
better teams than him, Greek eyes. He can't do what
the Greek freak can do. Greek freak can do it
(20:57):
at all. And now he's what can anything to bring
the ball up court? Talking about and when have you
ever seen Anthon Yavis bring the ball up course, it's
got a point guard with him. If he could do it,
believe me, they'd have him doing it. All right, stop it.
I'm the only one around here, no basketball. My goodness,
(21:17):
us got a school, y'all start for Brussart, Rob Ge
come help your boy out, all right. He's the greatest
movie athlete in cinematic history. My man Omar Apps joins
the Celebrity Corner next, but first, be sure to catch
live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and
Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific
(21:39):
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. God I
know for The Odd Couple Celebrity Corner. You've seen him
in all types of movies. Loving basketball, he played a
Basketball Star, Major League Two, Baseball Star, The Program or
(22:02):
Running Back, Higher Learning, a Track Star, and many other
movies where he was not an athlete. His latest thirty
twenty two, is now available on demand and digital. It's
the great Omar Apps joining the eye couple. Omar, what's happening? Brother?
I'm good. How you guys doing? We are great? We
are great now. I introduced you, but you probably didn't
(22:25):
hear this. You weren't on yet a couple minutes ago.
As the greatest movie athlete in cinematic history. Would you
agree with that? Yeah? That's that's uh yeah, I tol
us my my name and that conversation. Why not? I mean,
(22:46):
you have played a lot of athletic roles. I mean
we might have to go back and think about some
other guys, but I don't know who can. Off the
top of my head, I can't think anybody that can
compare to you on that. Morris Chestnut, rob just say what?
I don't know what more? What did he do? Morris
chest Nut? Sports wise? Hey, I gotta say, Chris, Yeah,
I don't higher learning? What was he in? What do
(23:10):
you do hire learning? He was the track stall he was,
that's right now. You took his girlfriend right right? Well,
you know, first of all, Chris, how do you not
introduce him? And mentioned juice, which was just such a
coming of age movies. I snuck into the theater and
I still remember me and my boys were like, oh
(23:30):
my gosh, Juice is the best movie ever. Well, speaking
of Omar, do you have a favorite movie of yours? No? Not,
I don't really have a favorite, but there's nothing like
the first, So you know, Juice is just always hould
a special place in my heart. I mean, I love
I love you know, all the projects I've been a
part of it, but nothing like the first. Now, what's
your favorite sport? My favorite sport is football and boxing.
(23:55):
Those are my two things. Boys. Okay, good good WEEKEDND
to get you on all right. First of all, football wise,
I hate to bring them up. I know they're your
favorite team. Uh, the Dallas Cowboys. What's wrong? Man? I
mean this is I make the Super Bowl. I feel
embarrassed right now. Yeah, I don't know, I don't I
can't quite put my finger on it. But you know, hopefully,
(24:17):
Look it's still some football left and you guys know
you could get you get in the tournament. Anything can happen.
I mean the Giants won two Super Bowls or the
nine or seven records, right, anything can happened. Hey, whatever
helps you sleep at night, all right, Jason should gaze
Jason Garratty fired at the end of the season, you know,
(24:38):
assuming they don't win the Super Bowl. I mean, you know,
they gave the guy a decade. I just feel like
we just have way too much talent on paper and
on the field. You know, to have to be at
six and six, So something's not jelling. I don't know
if the menage is not hitting anymore, but I do think,
you know, if we don't go deep into the playoffs,
(24:58):
and like you said, the Super Bowl, might be time
to look lookouts with all right, so omar, let me
ask you about this. Dak Prescott wants like forty million
a year. Okay, the franchise tack will be about thirty.
If you give Dak forty million, you're gonna lose a
bunch of other guys. You don't know if you can
afford Amari Cooper. Where are you on Dak Prescott? Do
you even think he's a top ten quarterback in the NFL?
(25:19):
So for sure? I think. I mean, look at his numbers.
I think people he's a great leader and at the
end of the day, I think you know, the number
will his number will be contingent upon how deep they
can get. You know, if they get a good learning,
maybe get to a championship. Who knows, but you know,
Jerry Jones is a juniors businessman, so it'll figure out
a way to make it work. You might have to
(25:40):
get let go of a couple of pieces, but you
bring some other pieces in. And they got a lot
of guys locked up already, so but they can't lose Amari.
They got to bring back both of them, Dak Anamar.
They'll probably franchise Dak. It looks like that's the latest talk.
All right, let's get to boxing. Like I said, it's
a great time to have you on. First, let's go
to a Tony ru Ruise Joshua. All right, that fight, yep, um,
(26:05):
how do you see this one playing out? Obviously, Ruise
upset josh Anthony Joshua in their last fight. How do
you see this one playing out the rematch Saturday? I mean, personally,
I see it playing out the way that the first really,
so you must really see that's a real boxing take.
I'm not saying not necessarily agree with you, but that's
(26:27):
a real boxing take. Because most people just look at
Joshua Oh he was great. He's so much bigger, stronger.
You know he should win. But go ahead, tell us
why you see Ruise beating him again? Well, I think
you know Ruise, you know, his boxing skills are underrated.
He has really fastens. Obviously it hits hard, but he's
been boxing his whole life, you know, Joshua, And that's
(26:48):
when we got to pick the app in Joshua was
he started late later than the average guy. So I
think there are certain nuances and things that you just
you know, you can't teach him the training camp that
Rui has. And he took his punch, he got up
and laid him out. So I think, you know, just
having that mental edge for louives Um, I think that
(27:09):
a bull. Well, Cam, Wow, that's a good time. I mean,
you might be right. I've heard some other people say
that as well. All right, let's let's go to Deontay Wilder. Yeah,
that was that's a good one. Just knocked out Ortiz.
Where do you rate? I mean, look, I think if
he beats Tyson Fury, you have to consider him an
(27:30):
all time great. I don't think very high on the
list Wilder, but you have to consider him. That just
because of his record forty he would beat through forty
three and old and he'd have knocked out just about
everybody he's fought. Um. But that said, I don't think
he like I think a Tyson would have destroyed him,
because Tyson actually could box, you know, before he just
(27:52):
start throwing haymakers towards the end. Um Alie like, I
can't put Wilder among the all time greats? Uh, what
do you? What is your thought on that? I mean, listen,
Deontay Wilder is extremely impressive. I think, for for for
these for this time, in this era. He's the king
in a mountain, and you know, skill wise, you know, look,
(28:16):
he's got a chin. You know, he keeps going. He's
getting better every fight. Um, So I think, you know,
I think you gotta put him in that conversation. And
especially you know in these times with it so much
politics in the sport. You know this guy, first of all,
or Teas is a monster, right, you know he can
he got there with a win and then and then
(28:37):
rematches him and and he's rematching you gotta you gotta
take your hat off to that, right, he was one
thing Deanta has one of the most I put him
up there with Forming and Tyson as most powerful punches ever.
And so he can hit. He can't box, you know.
(28:59):
That's he can't box. So if you ever can survive
with him, you might beat him, you know, but that
that's what he can't You can't tell you. You can't
say he can't box. He might not be, you know,
the most uh skillful technical boxer, but he can't box,
you know, relative, I mean relatively can he box for
(29:20):
a heavy like he gets out boxed almost every time
he faces a top quality opponent, but then he knocks
him out. But the one punch you gotta be You
gotta be able to box in order to set up
and knock out punch. He's not just going in this flat.
He really set up that one Ortiz that one punch.
Oh yeah, but it was but it was a beautiful
(29:42):
and it was set up, and you know it was
were joined. You gotta we have jo We're joined bar
Man Omar Epps, as we said, the greatest movie athlete
of all time. Omar sounds like you really like a
lot of these modern boxers. You got a favorite boxer
of all time? Is it a for eighties, nineties or today?
Do you have one that stands out of got you
(30:03):
just love and love to watch. I mean, it's hard
to pick one of all time. Um, you know, you
gotta go to you know, Sugar Ray Robinson Ali, of course,
But for me, it's you know, Flo Floyd May was Wow. Like,
it's one of the most incredible and I'm talking about
this overall the Prey Boys. Floyd when he was young
(30:24):
in his career, it was like watching the computer game, right,
That's when he would knock people out and he would
just incredible technician, uh in that ring, and I've never
seen anything quite like that. So I guess I'd have
to put him hot for me, But I think it.
I think in any sport you kind of gotta go
(30:45):
by the error, right because in every eror there is
that somebody and then there's like, for me, Michael Jordan
sort of transcends any error. He's the goat. He's the
goat to you Jordan in basketball. Oh, I mean, you
gotta put him up there. George's the goal. You put
him in any era at at peaks easy goal. I
(31:09):
do agree with that. I do agree with that. Before
now or now tell us about thirty twenty two. Yeah, man,
thirty twenty two is um It's a saci fi film
player Astronauts. It's about this group of astronauts who going
to complete this mission and when they look in the review,
something Kataklisnick has happened to earth. So, uh, you know,
(31:32):
it's a it's a film about survival, it's about humanity,
it's about uh, you know, family and love. So it's
a it's a really good film. It's a really good film.
And I had that had fun making it. That sounds good, man,
that sounds sounds great. Actually. Uh, you also were in
Traffic and that was produced by man from Salim who
was hosting the show with me the last two days.
(31:53):
What was that like working with him because we found
him to be a troublemaker not he was cool man,
He was a pleasure to work with. And um and
that project, you know, that also holds a special place
in my heart because you know, we were trying to
raise awareness, uh you know around you know, human trafficking
(32:15):
and run that sort of issue. So you know it
was intense. But um, but yeah, man, I people really
love that comb all right, my man, Well great having
you on the eye couple. Look when you out in
La if you got any free time, we'd love to
have you come into the studio. Absolutely. Let's put it together,
all right, brother Peace, thanks a lot. I appreciate y'all. Yep,
(32:36):
one of the marquee teams in all of sports just
made a colossal colossal I say error, alex plain. Next

It is the Eye Couple on the Worship Wednesday and
we're playing Christmas music throughout the month. What is this?
I'm looking at the crates right and all the pop
(33:18):
music you in the pop crates? Yeah, get into soul crates, bro,
do I play the music of Majant? What's up? Not
just like like what all right? This is? This is
all right? I'm gonna leave dj I Alex Tyson alone.
But but I want a little soul. That's you want
to host the Shower one. That's all I'm saying. All right,
Jay Mac Jason mcintires and for Rob Parker, we had
(33:40):
brought to you by a discovered card. We treat you
like you would treat yourself. I'll tell you about a
text I got so far or during the show. Caruso
over Beverly Emoji fire, Emoji fire, emoji fire. That's one
of the worst takes in the history of the eye,
Caruso and I like, Alex, Wait, know that's how bad?
(34:03):
Guess how bad it was? By the way, Hey, Patrick
Beverley is a monster. Yeah, and he's hitting threes. I mean,
let's stop it. I like, is how you get in trouble?
I don't get it. Overstate things. Anthony Davis is the
best player in the world. No, I didn't say that.
That was Caruso is better than Patrick Beverley. No, Alas,
(34:27):
Caruso is a nice role player. We don't expect anything
from him, so we we even boosted up even more.
But can we leave it there. You don't have to
go overboard with no. Let me ask you a take
on this. Let's move to college football. Wait, I got it,
I got takes on takes on takes usc Look, they
(34:47):
kept play Helton, good upstanding guy. I know they wanted
the program, you know, they they they've had a lot
of scandal there, not just football, but just in general,
and so they stuck with the good guy. Teams eight
and four are gonna be in a bowl. I think
they if they could have gotten Urban Meyer, I think
(35:08):
they should have gone all out for you. Well, don't
you think it's pretty clear they couldn't get him and
that's why they kept Well, I mean, well, first of all,
I don't I've everything I've heard, and yeah, I'm over
at FS one. I never I've never talked to Urban Meyer.
Just so people get that clear. There was I think
there was zero chance of him coming to USC But
the bigger story is okay, so maybe they tried behind
(35:29):
the scenes to get a bigger name, Okay, Chris, You're
familiar with the term compound interest, right. Compound interest matters
obviously a lot in finance, but also in life with
your wife. You know, if you just cycle through a
bunch of relationships, you're never really gonna get anywhere. You
pick a woman, you stick with them compound interest over
the years. I believe the same applies, Chris to sports
(35:50):
and coaches. Look at the most prolific teams in the NFL.
Belichick's been there like twenty years. Mike Tomlin's been there forever.
Look at the worst teams they're chain. If you did
mentioned Jason Garret every three years, well what if the
Cowboys one? Nothing? But what I'm saying, he's been there
ten years. How's that for your compound? And Lay Helton?
I'm okay with the very Clay Helton. They started a
(36:12):
red shirt freshman quarterback this year. He was phenomenal. They've
got two or three NFL wide receivers. This team's gonna open.
I'm telling you right now, Rob g Market down USC
will open in the top ten next year. They will
be very very recruiting class is not good. It doesn't.
They got a lot of talent there. Okay. The key
is can Clay Helton win with the pressure off that
he's gonna get fired. Imagine every day if you came
(36:33):
into totally off, well, imagine if you came to the work.
Did they give him an extension? I don't think it's
been announced, but he's gonna get Imagine if you came
into work every day and the guillotine axe was swinging, well,
you're gonna be gone, probably for him. Expires in twenty
twenty three, so the pressure isn't add twenty twenty three day,
three years away. Yeah, but he was already on the
(36:55):
hot seat this year. If they don't do well next year,
he may not be there. It's a good chance won't
be there again. I'm I'm a buyer of compound interests.
Give the man a chance. He's only been there like
three or four years. They've done well enough. Not everybody
can be Ohio USC. I'm not asking him to be
about Michigan. How about being Michigan. Huh. Everybody's running chant
(37:20):
the program, So that's what they are and they still are.
And USC is a historical pro historically great program like Michigan.
This is what I'm said about Harbaugh. Don't fire him
hell because they haven't. They're not Alabama or Ohio State. Okay,
he is returning them to national relevance, top ten, top fifteen,
(37:44):
everybody commercial everything, USC is not even there now. They're
as historically big as Michigan. They now and I'm not Look,
Clay Holton isn't bad. I mean, I hear you on that.
I mean your compound pound interesting went a little too far.
Because if you don't get it done. Next year, he
may be in trouble. Okay, However, he's not a bad coach,
(38:10):
and I think that, you know, he may be able
to get it done. We'll give him another year, let's see,
but he gotta get it done. But aren't you see
top ten, twelve IT rankings every year. Aren't you in
the group of let's get give guys a chance, let's
give the world. If he's been there three or four years,
that's one damn recruiting cycle. Like I know, we're with
(38:31):
social media. That's not that cool and not a lot
of guys in the world now. It shouldn't be, but
it is. Why because that's the way it is. Great
coaches go somewhere and within two years they turn it around.
That's how it is. So I'm sorry, I'm not turn
(38:52):
around you. Yeah, right. If we're talking about nagging, could
be able to fire, I'm not here. They were awesome
twelve and four or whatever. Fire goes to Kansas City,
turns him around immediately. Jim Harbaugh goes to San Francisco,
turns him around immediately. That's how it is nowadays. I'm sorry,
that's how it is. I know it doesn't jibe with
your compound interest theory. All night, all night putting together,
(39:16):
but two hours left of the Eye Couple, keep it locked.

am at Chris Underscore Sorry on Twitter, Chris Bruce R
sixty eight on Instagram. Where where can they find you?
I'm on the grahams love to take a picture. Yeah,
I'm on Twitter. I'm on there at Jason r McIntire.
Twitter is just not as fun as the Graham, right.
The Graham has all these positive comments. Everybody says nice things.
(40:18):
Twitter is just a cauldron of hate. So Twitter, everybody Twitter,
I call them Twitter muscles. All of these people got
Twitter mos board warriors. Yeah, but you sweaking of muscles
all I see you posted on Instagram or your little
workout video stoping, No, you mix it up right, little
workout little TV. You actually have the audacity to ask
(40:43):
somebody at the gym to hold your camera and watch
you work out? Or how do you do it? I
set it right there on the on the thing and
it takes a video. By the way, how how's this
one Monday night? I'm at my my son's third grade
basketball draft. I'm coaching. Last year, we were sick in
the regular season, lost in the championship. Yeah, is that
(41:04):
a pressure on the kids? No, there's no tryout. Everybody
just kind of on the honor system. Okay, I start
getting techs. Hey guys, Steph Curry's at our gym working out,
And I'm like, oh, so a bunch of the dads
I know took their kid to the gym to get
a photo with Curry. Yeah, yeah, he was there, and
um my son was like, Dad, you should have left
the draft and got me. We would have got a
(41:25):
picture for his Instagram. Now, I mean he doesn't he
doesn't have any access to it. But yes, I got
one for him and his sister. You did, so you went.
I mean, I manage it. They don't even know the
past word. I'm not letting Rando's follow them. Just family
and stuff for now. What Chris, This stuff is here
to stay. Your daughters have it. I'm sure. Yes, Can
I follow them or no? Uh? Yes? Their their accounts
(41:47):
are private. They're probably obviously, but they're twenty one now. Yeah,
but they know like you can get in trouble for
day being dumb on the internet. Yeah, that's ay. They aren't. Look,
they're on social media obviously, but they're not like somebody
you know, they're not board. Ye oh they do. I
told him it's tell them to see but it is
(42:10):
what it's nothing crazy too crazy. But anyway, this next
I think is kind of crazy. It's literally you had
an interest in take Look. Lamar Jackson has taken the
NFL by storm. Both you and I do have him
as the front runner for the MVP right now. Obviously,
the Baltimore Ravens are on fire. I think it's what
eight straight now that they've won, and they look like
(42:32):
the best team in the NFL right now. And he's
been great, and he's been running the football more than
any quarterback in history. And he is like sixty three
yards away from breaking Michael Vicks reckon. He's and he's
got four games left, so he's obviously gonna probably break
that next week or this weekend. And he's just been fantastic.
(42:55):
You have an interesting take, and I'm just gonna introduce
it and let you roll because it's it's interesting. So
could Tim Tebow have done what Lamar Jackson doing? So, Chris,
Smart organizations will build around someone's skill set. You are
an NBA insider. You know everybody. Chris gonna be our
NBA guy. J Mac. I'm a high energy guy. I'm
(43:18):
not afraid of anybody. I'm an outsider. Build around that.
You look at what the Baltimore Ravens have done with
Lamar Jackson is genius. This is a guy who came out,
Oh he can't throw, I don't want him. He falls
to thirty two in the first round. What do the
Ravens say, We got a drop back guy and Joe Flacco.
Let's bundle up that offense, toss it out the window.
Let's build something for our guy. Okay, smart teams do
(43:40):
smart things the Rams. Jeff Fisher tried to put Jared
Goff right a circle in a square, and Jared Goff
was a bust as a as a rookie, zero TV
seven interceptions. What a failure incomes McVay builds around him.
You see this throughout the league. I mean anywhere you look,
the smart teams are building around this. Well, let me
(44:00):
just say this quickly. I don't want to get in
your way, but Lamar Jackson, there have been quarterback. Now,
maybe nobody ran quite as well as him, although you
certainly could argue Vick, but Michael Vick, Randall Cunningham to
a lesser degree, Donovan mcnapp, Cam Newton, Cam Newton, Donovan
mcnas Steve McNair to something deree like you've had even
(44:23):
in Eric Couch, who you know, everybody thinks the black quarterback.
He's a white quarterback out of Nebraska who was tremendous.
They didn't even give him a chance to play quarterback
in the NFL. So my point is that these quarterbacks,
the predecessors to Lamar Jackson, all of the teams did
the opposite of what you're saying. Yeah, they even though
(44:43):
they would let the guy run some RG three. They
all it was all about changing him. But that well, look,
the conventional wisdom has always been if you run too
much as a quarterback, you're going to get hurt. RG three.
That's what happening. He Cam Newton, he's thirty years old.
(45:05):
Everybody throws it out like he's still young. But his
body is banged up and he's twice as big as
as Lamar. Lamar's running between the tackle, he's running inside
a lot. And now how long is he going to last?
Well will find that because it doesn't have to be
j mac one shot that injures him. It can be
just over time, all of the hits coming together. And
(45:25):
now that four three forty is a four to five. Yeah,
and he's now and that's all you need at a
world class level, that's all you need for him not
to be the same guy. So sweet, smart and that
he's learning how to throw. What's interesting about Tebow Chris
is he had a thick body. He was built like
I think two thirty two thirty five. He's a big boy,
and I know he didn't have the accuracy passing, but
(45:48):
if you go back to his Florida days with Urban Meyer,
guys were actually better. And again, I've looked up the
Tebow and I know there's a lot of Tebow haters
out there. Fine, I get it, he's too religious. I'm
religious myself. Whatever, Tim Man. I liked Tim Tebow in
Denver when he got them to the playoffs. Completed forty
six percent of his passes. That's not good, that's awful.
(46:09):
That's below fifty percent. That being said, Lamar last year
didn't have great numbers passing in eight though. Yeah, and
it's as a rookie, yep, I mean Lamar Jackson last year.
I'm not totally poo what you're saying, but Lamar Jackson
last year looked like Joe Montana compared to teach Well. No,
(46:30):
but the I mean Tebow was atrocious. But again it
was almost I know, it's only what this was eight
years ago, and it feels like a different era. I mean,
Pat Mahomes playing football quarterback right now looks like nothing
we saw ten years ago. Pretty much. Mahomes is unbelievably electric.
Another guy they built around to ma Andy Reid. I
(46:50):
just wonder, and I'm not certain, but if you had
the right coach willing to say that's our guy. Now.
John Elway and le Broncos said we're getting Peyton Manning
and you can't them for that. But nobody else out
there said we're gonna build around Tebow and nobody gave
him a chance. And I kind of wonder what might
have been. Yeah, Lamar Jackson fifty eight percent last year,
(47:10):
TIBO was forty six in the year he got to
the playoffs. Well, one thing, let me add one thing
about the Ravens that's interesting is the first time team
see Lamar Jackson, there is a shock to the culture.
Right WHOA what's going on here? Chargers saw him a
second time last year totally shut him down. The Patriots
will see Lamar Jackson in the playoffs, presumable if Belichick
(47:33):
is able to shut him down. Are we going to
just recycle? This doesn't work, Kenny survive because you know
where that's headed. It's all sunshine and roses. Now, Chris, No,
to your point, I do agree because one reason I
didn't think it would work this year is because the
one team, the Chargers that saw him twice last year,
totally shut him down. He ran rough shot over them
(47:53):
the first meete oh yeah, and then they shut him
down in the playoffs, and I thought all the teams
will have the tape on him what the Chargers did,
and they'll shut him down. What Lamar did was improved
dramatically as a passer, Yes, and that changed everything. But
also that's not just he can't just get better as
a passer. They added Hollywood Brown in the draft, right right,
(48:15):
they added another tight end behind. But also the passes
he's making, uh, they're they're short and the guys, yeah,
he's not throwing fifteen deep passes. Again, it's smart offense.
And listen, there's smart organizations. Do that, Chris uh to
your Tebow point, I just it's interesting. I actually think
(48:38):
the bigger question is what about RG three if somebody
had built around him? What about I mean we saw
Jim Harball kind of did it with Kaepernick, Yes, the
wall and who was running that show? The offensive coordinator?
If what about Randall Cunningham, who already had a really
nice career. But what if they had just led he
(49:00):
be him, Donovan McNabb, Cam Newton, You know, so Vince Young,
vinch Young did win games. Tebow had some off stuff, right, yeah, Tebow. Look,
he was seven and four as a starter. His second year,
it got to the player he did win. He just
(49:20):
threw the ball so poorly, so poor, like it wasn't
And again Lamar improved dramatically. I from Salim who was
hosting with me the last two days. He was in
Minnesota when Dante Colepepper was there. He said, when he
first got there, he was shocked they even drafted him.
He looked so bad. And then of course he went
on to have a you know, a couple of great
(49:46):
when he had Randy Moss and christ he was great.
So you can't improve, but we didn't really see that
with Tebow. I would lean toward no. But it's an
inter resting point. Can you just be because with Tebow
you would have basically had to be a straight running
attack with your quarterback, and he was much bigger than Lamar,
(50:10):
so maybe he could have gotten away with it for
a few seasons. But I think, just like we see
running backs breakdown, if you start having like these quarterbacks
run like this, then they're probably not gonna last very long.
And Lamar again, he's improving as a passer. They I
think they feel that in Baltimore, like they're like, Okay,
(50:33):
you're gonna be able to do this for a few years.
But if you keep improving as a passer, when your
speed declines, you'll still be able to be a very
good quarterback because now you've become a great passer. I
tell you a point about the Belichick and the playoffs.
I agree. I do think let's see how these playoffs
(50:55):
play out, and then I think, also Jay Mack, we
have to see how next year his regular season plays out.
Let's say the Ravens do get beat in the playoffs
AFC playoffs. By the way, I have him Super Bowl,
you got Patriots. Still at my preseason pick was the
Chiefs um still right now. I mean I wait till
the end of the season to make my new pick,
But right now I probably would say the Ravens. But
(51:18):
if Lamar, like maybe next year, if he does this
next year, after teams have seen him for a lot
a lot of time now, a lot of tape on him,
then I think the game will change and you'll see
more of this. If not, then it could be a
flash in the pans. And we don't Sean Watson in Houston,
(51:39):
right he was electric as a rookie. Then he had
the torn Aci and you know, he don't want. He
doesn't look like he wants to run nearly as much
as Lamar. Now, I think he's a much between Mahomes
and Jackson. I think, right, I am bullish on Watson's
great he has and I will say this, when he
was at Clemson, he was so awesome. When you can
(52:02):
go toe to toe with Nick Saban and that Alabama
when the detail is good, I love Deshaun Watson. I
think Deshaun Watson probably has a longer shelf life in
the NFL than Lamar Jackson, just because he's not running
as much anymore. No, I would tend to agree. Again,
I look at Cam Newton thirty years old, and people say,
well he's only thirty. Yeah, but he is. He has been.
He is so banged up. And again he's twice as
(52:24):
big as Lamar's news foot surgery for camp so that'll
be three of the last four off seasons he'll have surgery,
two shoulder and one foot and he's only thirty one.
And like mayors, twice as big as Lamar. I think
it's over for Is it over for Kim? Like if
you're the bank, you gotta give him one more shot? Yeah,
I'd give him one more shot if he's healthy next year.
(52:45):
I don't know if Carolina is gonna bring Hi back
the coach, right, we'll see what does If I'm the
Bears and I could get him, I mean that that
contracts cheap for one year. Yeah, but do we know
Cam is gonna be cool with going into next season
with no future? Well what if they say, hey, you
play or we cut you and he says, I'll cut me,
(53:06):
his agent goes and finds the Bears or the Chargers.
I would not give him big money. I'd have to
see him first. Bengals for half. Kim Newton, I will
say this, he was the face of the Panthers for
better part of a decade. He's gonna go somewhere, and
he if he has so many fans everywhere, people will
gravitate towards him. Because of the personality. I think he
(53:27):
could be the base of a losing Like if you say,
you said the Bengals, if he goes there, they're gonna
be horrible. They're already gonna be right, so, but it'll
be all the buzz. This is good and initially people
you you may see a boost in season tickets, but
after you're owing four, one in five or whatever. It's
gonna die down. So Chase. You take Chase Young first.
If you're the Bengals, then you sign Cam Newton and
(53:50):
guess what if he flops and stinks, you know what, Oh,
We'll just draft Trevor Lawrence off Clemson next year number one. Overall.
If I'm Cam, I'm trying to go anywhere where you
can win. Yeah, well, all right? What do you think? Interesting? Siri?
By j Mack. I like this one better than the
compound interest thing I will give you. I got more
(54:10):
deep in my bag. What are your name? First? Ninety minute?
If any NFL team was willing to build their offense
around team Tim Tebow the way the Ravens built theirs
around Lamar Jackson, would Tebow still be in the league
and would he be thriving? What do you think? Eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven, nine, nine,

John in North Carolina. John, you're on with the Eye couple. Hey, yeah, man,
(56:00):
ready show to him and join h Chris. I think
Um Jason did he out of a point because he
might you might. You can't do this a lot better
than I Can't checked the spects on this, but I
think Greg Roman handled um Cam Newton when he was
at his best. I know he handled Colin Kaepernick gout
(56:20):
in San Francisco when they went to the Suber Bowl,
and guess what that thing Greg Roman is handled and
with Mark Jackson right now. I think the idea of
having somebody like you said that doesn't try to put
around Peg in a square hole, which is what I
think they do when they try to make a running
quarterback be a pocket passer. I think when you got
(56:41):
guys that come in that really worked with him. Guy,
I don't know what Tebow would have turned out like
because I saw I liked Tebow and I'm a believer
of the Lord myself, but it's throwing motion was a
little off. Maybe maybe they'd never got that out of him.
He didn't, and Roman, for the record, did not work
(57:05):
with Cam, but obviously, like you said, he worked with
Colin Kabrick. Let me ask you this, do you think, well,
we lost John all right, But my point I was
gonna bring up is again, can a running quarterback last?
Can they stay healthy? Jay Max? Speaking of quarterbacks, guess
who's back in the starting lineup? Eli? Man, he's gonna
(57:29):
start this Sunday because Daniel Jones is injured. You know
the best thing I saw about this, Chris so Eli's
thirty eight Church thirty nine next month. His career record
is one hundred and sixteen wins and one hundred and
sixteen losses. This is gonna be to put him over
the top. And he said him under Philadelphia Eagles and
(57:52):
they're eight and a half point dogs. Eagles are coming
off a loss against the Dolphins. They are so fired up. No, no,
they're gonna be angry. They were angry last week. Listen.
I don't know how you're doing on the gambling. I'm
not having as good of a year as I have
last year. I'm lining a Super Bowl hangover because I
(58:13):
demolished rob last year. But I'm getting demolished the last
four weeks. I've dialed it down. I've done like two
bets and I've been hitting a lot better than trying
to do five. The Eagles are one of my three
favorite bets this week, Eli Manning starting. The guy has
been on the bench for what two months? And now
it's a creaky thirty eight. Remember Daniel Jones leads the
(58:34):
league in fumbles as a quarterback. Because he's getting hit
so much, Eli can't even move as well as him.
He's gonna be a blood bath. I look, what did
you bet Eagles last week? I did all right, so
that that we're just gonna dismiss everything. You just, oh,
stop it. Listen. They led twenty eight to fourteen in
the third quarter, and hold on, this is the stat
this gets. He's so upset. Okay, the Philadelphia Eagles led
(58:58):
twenty eight fourteen. Okay. The Miami Dolphins took six weeks
this year to score five touchdowns. Six weeks they scored
five touchdowns in a row on the Eagles on Sunday,
I predicted five t a rid. Well, they couldn't score
five touchdown for six weeks. I was beyond angry. What's
your take on Carson Wentz? Okay, this is I'm glad
(59:19):
you went here. I'm glad you went here. Okay, Carson
Wentz a good player. How many playoff games has Carson
Wentz played in zero. Russell Wilson is not surrounded by
as much talent as Carson Wentz. All we are went
It's a great offensive line. How come Carson Wentz never
wins a big game since they went to the Super Bowl.
He's ten and thirteen as a starter, all right, he
(59:41):
don't win the big games. He ain't winning games period game.
And I know it's a team sport. What record doesn't
matter what, but Hussell Wilson, damn it. He comes through
every game. What I see right now with Carson Wentz
is a guy that lacks the intangible sing and Rob
likes to, you know, try to dismiss this. Intangibles are critical.
(01:00:05):
Was Joe Montana the most gifted quarterback? No, but he
was gifted and he had intangible. Tom Brady the most
gifted quarterback. He's gifted, he still wasn't. It's called intangibles. Smart, confident,
leader of men. You can galvanize the locker room. Guys
(01:00:28):
love you all of that. Lamar Jackson has it too.
Patrick Mahomes has it too, the intangible. Dak Prescott interesting
has the intangibles. Nick Foles in Philadelphia, nowhere else apparently,
but in Philadelphia he has the intangibles. Interesting, Winz does
not have him right now. Well, supposedly he's a leader
(01:00:49):
of men, while we're seeing all these reports that the
players in the locker room were sick of it. That's
very interesting room. He always gets the team to go
on these hunting trips. He's like a Midwest hunter type guy,
and he's very religious. But you're onto something because he
lacks I don't know what's some kind of They build
a shrine to his backup in the locker room. The
(01:01:12):
same team that he is taking the ten and thirteen
last year. Just go last year, they were five and
six and about to miss the playoffs. Falls comes in
and they run to the playoffs and are getting darn
close to getting back to where they were last year
or you know, two years ago when he won the
Super Bowl. So I'm just saying that's what he seems
(01:01:32):
to lack right now. It's weird because remember he was
the MVP leader that one year before he towards ACL.
I was at that game and I'll never forget. It
was an incredible game. And all of a sudden, Carson
Wentz starts walking to the locker room and he's hobbling
We're like, oh wow, Rams, they're gonna come back and
win this. And Falls of course came down and locked
it in because that's what he did and folds. His
confidence is shot in Jacksonville, man, I mean he got
(01:01:54):
benched in like his second game back. He hadn't been
able to do it anywhere but Philadelphia. All right, we
all in the show asking if Lebron or Anthony Davis
was the best player on the Lakers. Right now, we're
gonna get the truth from our man, Eddie House. I
Oh shucks, I think you'll agree with me. We'll see
he's gonna settle it once and for all. That's next.
(01:02:17):
But first, be sure to catch live editions of The
Odd Couple with Chris Brussar then Rob Parker week days
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeartRadio app. Theme Music. That's right, he
is one of only two Odd Couple guests who has
his own theme music. He's an NBA champion, he was
(01:02:40):
a three point in sniper and he brings the heat
every week with us The Eye Couple. It's our man,
Eddie House. What's up? Brother? Was happening? Gentlemen? We're doing great.
We're doing great. Now. Look, we started off the show
talking about Rob g Our producer has this crazy notion,
(01:03:01):
I think that Anthony Davis is the Laker's best player.
I love Anthony Davis, He's playing great, but I contend
it's still Lebron James. What what do you? Jay Mack
is kind of on a D. No, he said, a
D two. Who do you think is the Laker's best player? Well,
I'll tell you what. A D Lebron Lebron. AD that's
(01:03:23):
ad has to get the ball thrown to him. Lebron
to rebound and push it out, get it all. Lebron
can do so many more different things than a D.
He could rebound just as good, he could score just
as good. A D can't pass like Lebron. There it is, there,
it is that that's basketball knowledge. See, Jay Mac has
to go to all these analytics stats that nobody even
(01:03:45):
knows what he's talking about. I like Eddie Eddie House
can watch it and tell you, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie was simplified.
Just don't confuse himself with all these numbers and start
crunching things. And then next thing you know, you're Disney
saying a D's the best player. Gonna stop it, No, Eddie, Eddie,
what's up, man, I haven't seen you in a minute.
If doing well, I hope your son's basketball careers are
(01:04:06):
going well. I know things are good. Well the son.
Is he a senior now in high school? No? No,
he's a freshman and he's got the twins who were
younger and now you know we both got kids playing
sports at any rate, Eddie, Hey, I said, Lebron's the
most important because as you said, he's leading the league
and assists, he passes, he creates. But Anthony Davis is
the best. And my analogy was, hey, Steph Curry was
(01:04:27):
the most important on the Warriors when they added Durant,
Durant was the best. Do you agree with that? I
can agree with that. I could definitely agree with that.
But it's different because k D and Steph they're both
great shooters, right, so, but k D is just better.
He's taller, he could get it shot off defense and
not gonna bother him defensively, a D can't. And that
(01:04:48):
you can't inbound the ball to a D and he
bring it up and initiate the offense. So therefore that
little piece of game that Lebron has over him, you
have to give him the nod. Now, if Lebron was
just struggling at the point guard position and was then
you might have to say, okay, a D probably is
the most important and the best player. But right now
I would say still that Lebron is the most important
(01:05:11):
and the best player on the team. AD is extremely
important as well. It's very close. But I mean, come on,
stop it, right, it's it's why I put Yannis ahead
of a D two. You know what I mean, Like, hey,
I don't need if I got Yannis, I don't need
somebody to get him the ball. No, you don't you
know that? So so are we? So wait a second,
are we saying that a big man can never be
(01:05:33):
ni is a seventh? No, we're not saying the big
back cat never be the best. If he's the most
dominant on the team, yes, if he's like a shock dominating,
then okay, you say, yeah, he's the best player on
the team, because they have no answer for that. But
once the ball goes in the post, a double team him.
He has to kick that thing back out. You can't
run him in a pick a row. He has come
set a screen and if a guy, if you defend that,
(01:05:56):
pick a row and say, Okay, we're not gonna give
any dunks. I'll take it back. When we played Orlando
a few times, a bunch of times when I was
with Boston, our whole goal was and not led Dwight
Howard jump the basketball. And if you did that, you
could pretty much neutralize how effective he could be for
them for their team, and he was one of the
most important teams. Now when KG went out the year
we lost to him, that was the main reason why
(01:06:16):
we lost. We didn't have that enforcer back on the
back end, but he you can neutralize that. When you
gotta have a guy with the ball in his hands,
it's tough to stop. When they're able to shoot, the score,
score and penetrate and then also make passes like like
the best point guards that that's going on in the league,
like Lebron doing so. It's just totally different when you
had the ball in the NBA Champion Eddie House joining
(01:06:38):
the eye couple. I'm not sure how much of Denver
you've seen this year, but nicolea. Yokis now obviously ad
shut him down, held him the thirteen points five rebounds yesterday.
But he hasn't been the same player in my view
this year's all his numbers are down across the board.
Have you seen enough for him to have any opinion
(01:06:59):
on kind how he's playing differently this year? Well, I
don't think he's playing any different. I think the game
plan is a whole lot different. When you become the
focal point of somebody's defensive game plan, you have to
start adapting your game. You gotta get back in the
lab as far as film watching, seeing where they're sending
double teams. They're giving him different looks. And the best
thing about Yoka just he's a hell of a pastor
(01:07:21):
and when he knows where that double team is coming
and he could read the defense, it's easier for him.
They've been mixing things up on him defensively. He doesn't
know if it's coming baseline side, if it's coming on
the catch, if it's coming when he's going on the bounce.
They're they're mixing it up, so they're kind of keeping
them off balanced. But once he figures it out, I mean,
all the really good basketball, all the really good players,
they figure it out. And it's early in the season.
(01:07:42):
Still I mean, but it's getting to that point to
where you got to start looking at and say, hey,
you know what, is he gonna start making a change
or he's gonna stick with the same old things and
think that's gonna get it done? Eddie? How about Yoki
showing up? Looks like about fifteen pounds overweight? Did the
guy lift a weight all summer? He's so doey at
any rate. Let's move on and any house you know
how ja my guy? Any house? Uh? I've seen him
(01:08:04):
on Instagram lifted. That's the only reason why, because he
do all these posts with him in the dam that
any house follows. Flug that cat? Why Eddie? All right, listen,
I went in on this guy a little earlier. But
Kawhi Leonard. Okay, obviously he's talented, amazing player. I'm sorry,
but this load management garbage in November is embarrassing to
(01:08:25):
him and the league. Okay, I don't want to hear
he's coming off an injury. Okay, two years ago when
he load management in Toronto off the injury from the Spurs,
I'm okay with that, Okay, but this year this is
embarrassing and it sets a bad precedent. Please I like
load management in January, February, March fine, but November, Eddie,
come on, this is embarrassing. Well, you know what, it's
(01:08:46):
gonna be the reverse when you when you look at
what's going to the Lakers gonna do. They're gonna load
manage on the back end of the season because I
think what the Lakers are trying to do is get
out to an insurmountable league to where they know their
eight game nine games up, they got it sold up
because they're gonna be good and nick to take a
couple of games off. Well, the Clippers, they're looking for
the back end. They're coming there. If I'll use a
horse racing analogy, right now, what the Lakers are and
(01:09:08):
I'm not saying their front runner guy, but like a
horse that gets out, he's a front runner. He's gonna
be leading the pack. And right now what the Clippers
are doing is kind of midpack, kind of in the back,
a little bit midpack, and they're just waiting to win.
You come down the stretch, they're gonna have full head
of steam. They're gonna be well rested, so Lakers be.
I think the Lakers gotta be careful with as many
minutes as everybody's logging and trying to because I know
(01:09:30):
what they're trying to do. They're trying to jump out
to a huge lead. And you gotta be careful that
you know these are older Lebron is an older guy.
Rondo is not a spring chicken anymore. So you gotta
watch are they going to be able to sustain this?
So far? I'll tell you Lebron's looked amazing, But hey man,
whatever guy's gotta do to try to win a championship,
because I tell you what, in June, if they're raising
(01:09:51):
a trophy, there's nothing that anybody can say about any
low management happening in November and December. I think the
way Kauai is low managing, and especially so early, I
think he almost has to win the championship. Like if
they don't, I think there's gonna be serious backlash. Well yeah, well,
(01:10:13):
and you know what, and it should be because they say, hey,
it didn't work. It worked in Toronto, we tried that
experience here. It didn't work. We're gonna have to reevaluate it.
But they're giving him, you know, the keys to the
car and say, hey man, this is how you want
to do it. We're gonna cater to whatever it is
that you won't. We believe you're the most important player
on this team, and we're gonna need you down to stretch.
If this is what makes you comfortable, then you have
to do it as an organization. We got about two
(01:10:36):
minutes left. James Harden thirty eight point nine points a game.
I know people are starting to say. There was an
article I read the other day that he's the best
score since Michael Jordan. What are your thoughts on Hardening?
You gotta say, you gotta say he is. Now would
you put him above Durant because Hardened shooting a ton.
It's four for twenty for three last night. But it's
(01:10:58):
a different from being from being a great score, because
they're both really good scores. But being efficient. I'll say
Kevin Durant is way more efficient than Harden. But James
Harden understands how to manipulate the foul calls. He gets
to the free throw line, he makes easy, he makes
it easy for himself. And the fact that he is
(01:11:19):
such a really good past or, a willing pastor. He
can shoot the ball from anywhere on the court. I
would have to say, since MJ. He has to be
to the best score that we've seen since MJ. That
can just go out there, night in and night out.
You know you're gonna see a thirty ball. If you
pay for a ticket to go see the Houston Rockets
play basketball, he's gonna give you thirty plucky like Westbrook
(01:11:43):
and I know they're good friends, and it looks to
me like they're saying, Okay, Russ, you get yours in transition,
and then the half court belongs to James. I don't
think it's gonna win him a championship, but I'm wondering
if it's Russ gonna be cool with this long term.
I think rough to be fine with because Russ plays
as hard as he You know how hard Rush plays,
(01:12:03):
So he's gonna get his in other ways. He's gonna
crash the glass and get some easy things. He's gonna
push in transition. He's gonna get some kickouts and some drive,
some downhill drives where it gets kicked out because of
a double team or something like that coming off a
pick and roll twin twin. He's gonna get to have
his one on one opportunities in the half court. But
I mean This is the one thing that that I
know that for any team to be successful, to win
(01:12:25):
a championship, guys are gonna be stars that are gonna
come join other stars, and somebody's gonna have to take
the back seat. And if they don't do that, then
it won't work. And I think Russa will have a
problem at all saying, hey, this is James show, but
I'm still don't forget that I am who I am,
and I'm gonna still be able to be effective and
affect the game. I just don't have to be a
guy that dominates the ball like I didn't. Okay, see
(01:12:46):
all right, he's the mayor Eddie House dropping that knowledge
and let it be known for the record. Rack this
he agreed with me. Lebron is still the Laker's best player.
M all right, brother, we'll talk to you next week.
And we got to take care of Rob Parker's the
hit boat. But my man Jason McIntyre is giving him
a run for his money. We'll explain. Next is the
(01:13:08):
Eye A couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar
then Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm. Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
It's the Eye Couple. I'm Chris Brusar. We got our man,
Jason McIntyre, a J Mac and for Rob Parker, We've
(01:13:31):
got great news for you. Look, everybody loves saving money,
especially around holiday season. I mean, I know you gotta
buy your kids some nice toys and video games and
CLIs and cameras and all types of stuff. So you
need to switch to Geico. I'm just gonna be blunt.
(01:13:53):
It's a quick and easy way for you to save money.
It only takes you fifteen minutes to see if you can,
say fifteen percent of the more on your car our sures.
So go to Geico dot com. What are you waiting
for and see how much you could save? All right,
Jay Mack, you got a few minutes you hide on this.
James Harden, oh geezus leading the league thirty eight point
(01:14:15):
nine points a game. One player in human history has
scored more points per game than James Harden is right now,
Will and his name is Will Chamber. That's it. Not
m J, not KD, not Adrian Danley, not George Gervin. See,
you're just showing you you wouldn't laugh if you stins Mavericks.
(01:14:40):
Come on, He's not on the level of James Hardening.
I don't know about the Mavericks. The Jazz is where
he did. But but anyway, uh, nobody. And I'm fascinated
with James Harden because I understand how ficult it is
(01:15:01):
when you're not relatively speaking. He's not a great athlete
relatively speaking, and yet he's not that quick. Obviously, doesn't
have the greatest hops, although you know he can jump
and he speed quick. No, he's quick, but he's not.
I mean we're relatively he's not cat quick. I mean
you're putting dudes that are as quick, if not quicker,
(01:15:23):
that are long athletic on him. And he is dribbling
in place, faints, slights, fakes, step backs, always able to
get his shot off and hit it or blow by
you and either get fouled or here to lay. I'm
fascinating with him now. I wouldn't want to play with him.
(01:15:44):
He's a ballhawk. I mean, that's what he's becoming. How
do those two? He's fascinating, but I wouldn't want to
play with him because what he's doing is incredible. It's
so difficult to do it, really is it is. Anybody
who's playing basketball knows how difficult that is. That's why
(01:16:05):
you have plays. You know what you get guys open.
You know what's harder than scoring in the regular season,
winning playoff games. You look for James, now you get
all the posts you won. He couldn't get right down.
Forget the playoff playoff game. First of all, he's won
the playoff game. Secondly, stay where we are right now.
(01:16:25):
All I'm saying is I'm fascinated with him, and you
think he's boring. He's a great regular season player, but
I find it boring. Okay, you went down, You broke
down the histrionics of hard and shaking and bacon and
dribbling not looking at any teammates. It's the height of
ball hoggedness. If that isn't even a word, I mean,
it's why you don't get the ball. I mean, I
(01:16:49):
think the polar opposite is what made the Warriors so beautiful.
They would pass it around, set screens, teamwork, you know
stuff you're seeing Hoosiers, awesome basketball, textbook basketball, and win.
You're a dynasty James. At that time, Adrian Lega like
seventy six games with the Maverick yes of his career.
(01:17:10):
That's what I was watching basketball. The fact that you
said Dallas, yea of all the teams in Utah when
you were like roy Utai average thirty for four straight. Yeah,
he was a great player, but you said Dallas, but
at any rate. Um. I just can't get behind this
whole ball washing of James Harden. Okay, he's a bog wow,
(01:17:32):
and can we say that? Listen, you you tell me,
Christian Chris Bruce Sar, you tell me right. You're trying
to act like it does mean what it sounds like.
What is the signature playoff performance of James Harden's career?
Give it to me now, off the top of your head.
I told you they're all failures playoff. He's a failure
when it matters. He could ring up all the points
(01:17:54):
in all the minutes and all the highlights he wants.
His postseason career has been a complete and utter failure.
So don't give me this. I can't what he's fascinating.
It's a great offensive player, take nothing away. He's a
first ballot Hall of Famer scorers. We just dog damn
straight dogs. Both can be true. He's a postseason failure.
(01:18:16):
I mean, should we you know, I hear you just
wanted an opportunity to rip him for his playoffs. I wedn't.
November December, be sure to catch live editions of The
Odd Couple with Chris Brussar then Rob Parker weekdays at
seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeartRadio app. Yes, it is the I Couple.
(01:18:38):
I am Chris. He is Jay Mackwire coming to you
live from the Guy Goo Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen
minutes can save you fifteen percent of more on your
car insurance. If you didn't catch it, you can save money.
Am I going to Geico dot com? So go visit
get yourself a free rate quote. We will be joined
by Arnie Spanyer. He is our guest on the hot Seat.
(01:19:01):
You know we do it every Wednesday, and uh, we've
treated Arnie pretty badly when he's been on a hot seat,
as we do everybody. Did you tell Arnie to come
correct because some of these takes he's got. I mean,
I've been privy to them and it ain't gonna be pretty. Nie.
We love you, but it's gonna be ugly, it's trust,
but for the listeners it'll be great. So make sure
(01:19:22):
you keep it locked. Uh, Rob Ge and Jay Mac.
I gotta tell you this. The Lakers are about to
play the Jazz second night of a back to back
and you'll like this. Jay mack Lebron James, and Anthony
Davis are playing. Oh no, Lakers. Oh jeez, isn't that special?
(01:19:44):
I tell you what, this will be interesting to see
if they win. The Jazz need to win. The Jazz
haven't been playing very well lately. Um, but last night
I was as as good as the Lakers were playing,
and the fact that they were seventeen and three and
atop the Western Conference and it was nice. But as
(01:20:08):
a person that picked them to win the championship, and
you want your picks to be right, we know that.
So I want them to win it because I picked them.
I was glad to see last night's game against Denver,
last night's victory over Denver, because I just gotta keep
it real. The Lakers have been beating up on the
little sisters of the poor. They have been beating now
(01:20:30):
they their schedule is the toughest in the league. This
month December so we're gonna really see how good they are.
But they've been beating up on chump change. And so
last night for them to go into Denver, obviously with
the altitude, players had to flew ad Lebron others had
some sicknesses, and they went in there and they beat
(01:20:52):
the Nuggets handily. The Nuggets made a little run to
make it a little bit iffy toward the end, but
the Lakers beat them handily. For them, part good win
and for for if your information, the Nuggets entered that
game and still do have the best record against winning
teams in the league. They're six and two against teams
(01:21:13):
five or better. That's the best in the league. So
that was a big win. If the Lakers beat you
taught at night, then you can really you know, if
you're a Lakers fan, you can really start to feel
good about your team. Yeah, I'm already there. I think that. Listen. Obviously,
as you said, they haven't beat a lot of teams
currently have winning records. But that's weird, right, because they
(01:21:35):
beat the Suns when the Suns were hot. Now the
Suns stink, you know, they hit, but there was another team.
But but they that Sons were Young. Here's what I
like about the layovers is they're playing defense. And Frank Vogel.
Did you see who he went with on the road
in Denver last night? Final five minutes of the game,
A d Lebron Kuzma was not on the floor. Okay,
(01:21:55):
he rolled with Rondo Caruso and KCP. If you told
me that's who he's rolling with, I'd be like, geez,
Lakers ain't pulling that out. Then he subbed in Danny
Green and I'm vocals pushing all the right buttons. It's early.
I like what i've seen. Vogel is a good coach.
People disrespected him when he didn't you know, when he
got the job and people said, you know, what are
(01:22:17):
they doing? This is a crazy hire. And I know
he wasn't good with Orlando, but he was fantastic with Indiana.
Went to Paul George Roy, Hibbert, Land, Stevenson, George Hill.
I mean that was his teams. David West, now that's
a nice West is obviously a was a really good player.
(01:22:37):
Lance is what he is. Hill was what he was,
Hibbert is what he is, or was what he was.
But he really had one perennial All Star and they
gave the Miami Heat of the Big Three Lebron Wade
Bosh all they wanted so he can coach and you're
seeing it now, Well, that was when I back with
the day when I thought Paul George was an alpha
(01:22:58):
and could carry a team. And I don't think he's
that player anymore. Have you noticed that he's playing in
the last two years? Last year he was he shot
the third most three pointers per game. Paul George has
basically become a ghost stand in the corner of three.
Are you what? What? Are you watching the game? Last year?
James Harden average to most points last year because he
played with West defense cold. Look at this year Paul
(01:23:21):
yes five for most attempted threes per game nine. That
doesn't mean he's just sitting down on one, but he's
basically become a three point He hasn't. He's doing a
lot of going one on one. He's shooting a lot
of mid range jumpers. Fans don't come at me because
I'm because I'm going after you guys. Okay to say,
Paul George, I mean stop it. I'm gonna put you
(01:23:41):
on probation, Double secret probation with Rob ge and forbid
you from talking to NBA on this show. Paul George's balling. Nah,
I agree with you. He's a second guy. But there
are some great players who were second guys. Yeah, Scott
Pippin was a second guy. Anthony Davis is a second guy.
(01:24:05):
Now can he grow over the next few years into
a number one? He's one talent, by the way, he's
not what we saw him as a one. How they
do in New Orleans? Because I don't want to hear
all this, I know that's the narrative. The organization was horrible.
They didn't have any talent. He had DeMarcus Cousins, Ray
(01:24:27):
Jon Rondough, Drew Holliday, Eric Gordon, uh Nicola, Merritage, They
had some ballers. Now they couldn't stay healthy. But still,
I'm just saying he's a great too. He's a Hall
of Famer, he's an all time great work. But he's
a second guy. Now another team. You got something quickly
(01:24:47):
to say before? Yeah? Sorry, no, I don't. I don't
want to start an arguing we got another forty five?
What are you talking about? You live to artist? Is
it sad that I'm watching this? Celtics Jay Mac is
like a second grader in public school. You packed the lunch.
I did you packed the lunch? I mean you got?
(01:25:09):
You got. I had a sandwich, I had some raspberries.
I'm trying to eat healthy. What I want some of that?
I might give you a I might give you a little.
Here it is. I'm watching Heat Celtics closely because I
gambled on this game. The heat. We're getting five and
a half on the road, and I took them and
they led early, another getting crushed. They're down now seven.
They come back a little bit. But what do you
(01:25:31):
think gambling on regular season NBA? Is that good for
your health? Or No? I've never done it. You're missing out.
It ain't great for you. Guys. Can I tell a
quick story about me? You're stressed. I was stressed watching
I got no burdens. I was stressed watching Virginia Perduce
over a freaking heat. No, no, Virginia Purdue over in
(01:25:51):
college basketball. It was it was like touch and go
for a moment. But it's cleared alright, Hey, guys, quick
story on Christmas sharts. So I was a young reporter
in New Jersey and Chris Boussar was with the New
York Times young reporter. I did a door, so I
rocked the vicious rounds like I never did before. She said,
Darren Fly, you don't know nothing about that rappers? Did
I know that first National Hip Hops? At any rate?
(01:26:13):
Back to me? Um, So, I'm covering USA basketball at
Madison Square Garden for a newspaper. I was like twenty three,
and no, I didn't know anybody. This is pre internet,
not pre internet, sorry, pre like cell phones on your
internet or internet yourself. It was like two thousand and
uh one or two and I go to go to
(01:26:34):
MSG and I'm trying to ask guys, hey, you know,
where's my seat? What do I do? And nobody would
give me the time of day. They wouldn't even acknowledge me.
And I saw some of the people I'm not gonna
call him out, And finally Chris Boussard New York Times,
one of the biggest guys there, It's like, hey, man, yeah,
here you go. And I was like, wow, that's so nice.
And me and Bustart talking. You don't remember it because
(01:26:54):
he's so big time now having dinner with Jamie Fox
and not inviting me. But anyway, I just want to
let the people. No, Chris Boussar comes in hot on
TV on the radio. He deep down is a good
guy and he was super nice to a young reporter.
I will always respect Bussard, even though we go at it.
I'm a I'm a fan Chris buss He's a good guy.
I appreciate it. That makes it. That makes me wonder
(01:27:15):
why you used to kill me on The Big Lead.
I didn't kill I did not kill you other guys
on the Big How in the world as nice as
I was to you? Now? By the way, did you
see Dan Lebotard going after the Big Lead and you
and some people? Yeah? Monday? Really, I just got the
video set you today. I mean, yeah, nobody watches this show,
but um yeah, it's very strange. Now he's probably gonna
(01:27:37):
say it's a joke. You don't get the show. I
don't really care. I don't you know. I'm not friends
with that guy anymore. Um oh yeah, used to be
we used to be friendly. Yeah. Yeah, he wanted to
buy the Big Lead back in the day, him and
really a guy who I won't name. Um yeah, they
were just in buying the site didn't materialize. All right,
let's get back to the We got a game. Another
game that happened last night the Houston Rockets, if you
(01:27:57):
don't know, they lost in double overtime to the San
Antonio Spurs. Now, with about eight minutes left, little less
than eight minutes left to play, Dan James Harden went
up for a breakaway dunk. The ball goes through the hoop.
He slammed it so hard he goes through the hoop
and somehow the net caught it and it goes through
the hoop and pop goes back up through the basket
(01:28:22):
after it had gone basically through the hoop, and the
referees ruled it a non basket. And later on that evening,
after they had a chance to look at it, they
ruled they said it should have been a basket. We
were wrong. And the Rockets were up thirteen at the time. Okay,
(01:28:43):
that would have put him up fifteen with seven fifty
left to play or something like that. They go on
to lose the game. The Spurs outscored them some. It
was lunny. It was the lunny Walkers. Yes, he went off,
he went off, but the Spurs came back tied and
beat him in double overtime. Now, the Rockets want to
(01:29:07):
the NBA to take action and either award them the
victory or replay the final seven minutes fifty seconds. And
here's what I say. This is a loser's mentality. This
is you were up thirteen, you're up twenty two at
one point, accepts it was a bad call. It was
(01:29:28):
a horrible call. I saw it, everybody saw it. But
accept the responsibility for what your team did and recognize
that that was not the reason you lost the game
and move on. When Michael Jordan hit the famous shot
and he shoved Brian Russell, did they replay that? No?
(01:29:54):
When Kareem Abdul Jabbar got the fantom foul call in
Game six of the A Finals against the Detroit Pistons
and went to the free throw line and hit the
free throws and they end up winning the series, did
they replay that No? When the freaking New Orleans Saints
got robbed last year in the playoffs by the you know,
(01:30:17):
with the against the Vikings, the Rams, I'm sorry, did
they replay that No? So you think we're gonna replay
eight minutes of a regular season game in December except
that you lost. It was a bad call, you got
(01:30:37):
robbed Oh, these things even out over time and move on.
But the fact that you are harping on it Mike
D'Antoni and the Rockets is a loser's mentality. Wow, Daryl
Morey is gonna be texting you that. Look. I think
mc danzi, I'm in the nineority. I think Mike D'Antoni
is a Hall of Fame coach. But this is a
(01:30:59):
loser's mean tality. Move on here, But this only team
has gotten a bad call before? You know, this is
what the Rockets do, aren't they the team that compiled
like a dossier of all these missed calls, and when
they get eliminated in game seven, a couple of days later,
they leak it to the media about all these blown calls,
(01:31:20):
all these grievances, like they're just they're losers. That's what
they are. It's it's a group of guys who never
want squat and they're just complaining. And they're the guy
who's always blaming everybody else for his problems. Right, well,
hey we were there's somebody else's fault. I will say
this about this, this dunk by by Harden. How do
the ref's not simply just go to the replay during
(01:31:41):
commercial break and say did it go in or not.
I mean, it's very basic because they do have replay
where they can say that guy's foot was on the line,
it's a two, not a three, or vice versa. I
don't understand why they can't just simply replay. It was
a horrible call to the naked eye. It's bad, but
you were up thirteen with seven fifty to play. You
(01:32:01):
should have won that game. Now, for the record, and
this is what the Rockets are pointing out, there was
a time when Miami played Atlanta back in two thousand
and eight there was controversy over the last fifty two
seconds and they did replay that. The next time the
Heat and the Hawks played, they played the last fifty
two seconds before the game the new game and settled
(01:32:24):
it that way. But fifty two seconds is different from
seven minutes and fifty seconds. No, we're not replaying it.
I'm sorry, it's ridiculous. You get over yourselves, the Rocket
What do you guys think eight seven seven ninety nine
five or jamackin myself tripping? No, nobody's unearth. Do you
(01:32:44):
think the rock Are you with the Rockets? Should they
replay it or do you agree with us? This is
indicative of a loser's mentality eight seven seven ninety nine
on fix eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three
sixty nine. It's the I Couple, jamackin for Rob Fox

Christmas move. You're gonna be playing Christmas music all month,
right CB yep? I wor size twelve for that Christmas gift?
Look at you? You want some Jordans? I had to
buy Rob Jordan's because I lost the bet. Now you
want someth too? No, I can't do that to your
wallet Christmas. You know I saw some ponies at the
(01:33:50):
store for fourteen bucks. You want? How about the Paris
used to be the bomb? I actually bought them. You
know what's wild? Champion coming back? Everybody's champion? Now what? Hey?
Where do I get Bruce? Sorry, where do I get
some supreme gear? I hear that's like what all the
cool people are wearing. Now, Yeah, um, you got connected.
I don't know. I don't I know you're getting free gear. Old,
I see it. I see it. People, I dare. They're
(01:34:13):
not a sponsor. But I got new Balance to send
me some of the new Kawaisy, you got those. They're
pretty fresh, they feel good. Yes, they're nice. Thank you
for the Balance all. They're nice, the new the swag.
You know, Nike don't give out swag by the way,
I actually never shout out now. Actually, oh okay, I
see how it is. I'm all right, let's get to it.
(01:34:39):
A seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Look, I like
the Rockets. They are what I thought they were. They're sexy,
they're must see TV, very exciting. They've got two iconic players. Yes,
stook seven for dirty last night, shooting nineteen points on
(01:35:02):
thirty shots. Folks, If he's iconic, what the hell is
Steph Curry's Warriors unless it becomes commonplace, like if Luca
does it this year or there does it you know
three of the next four or five years. And Ben
Simmons or some other player does it. Maybe Lebron does
it next year or whatever. Unless the triple double average
(01:35:24):
for a season becomes commonplace, thirty forty, fifty years from now,
they will be talking about Russell Westbrook. They will say,
back in the day, there was this guy. Oh, he
didn't win a championship, but he averaged a triple double
(01:35:44):
three straight seasons. And James Harden, same thing. There was
this brother with a beard like the nightlife, that didn't
look all that athletic, actually looked the little plump. Oh
he's not. He looked a little bit. Wasn't the quickest dude,
(01:36:06):
loved the strip club, didn't animals hops, but he dropped
thirty nine one year, one of the best scores we've
ever seen. They won't be iconic now. They won't win
a daring thing, but fifty Summit games in the regular season.
They won't win a christ Christmas starts handing out iconic
(01:36:27):
like I hand out Halloween. Serious iconic iconic. Jay, don't
disrespect Harden in Westbrook like that. Let's go to Berry
in Michigan. Barry, you're on with the couple. How you
doing you guys? We are good? What's going on? Well,
I gotta agree with you. I mean, they didn't play
(01:36:47):
the Lions game over again after the honorable calls this
year at the Monday night game. They didn't go back
to the back call and start over. Didn't give Miami
the championship after Ohio State to the worst colne in
the history of college good. I'm sorry, you just playing.
Can't do that. I don't want to point out that
the sand what do you call it, the Spurns got
beat the other night by the Pistress like thirty two,
(01:37:10):
right and some when they were up by thirteen. Come on,
you guys, put your current I mean, let me ask
you this, Barry, if that I don't know who you
root for, but whoever it is, if your team was
in that position, do you want the coach to suck
it up and say, look, that's not why we lost. Yeah,
it was a bad call, but we we did this,
We did that. We should have won this game regardless.
(01:37:32):
Or do you want him trying to get the league
to give him to win. I put you, like I said,
quit your cry baby thing, don't go to the league.
Tell your team don't do that again. They blew a
thirteen point and watched that team they blew a thirteen
point the league. That's right, there's no excuse for that,
not against San Antonio, right, no excuse me? Right, all right,
let's go to Sean and Fort Lauderdale. Sean, you're on
(01:37:53):
with Chris and j Mack. Yeah, Hey, Chris, I just
wanted to know what you thought or when the fan
said the hardened last monight. I didn't see it. Is that? What?
What did he say that we the free throws? Yeah? Yeah,
some fans suppose we spoke out against them a lot
of work. Oh, you're right, I saw that. Oh yes,
So the fan said something watching the free throws is
(01:38:15):
boring or something, and he is getting fouled every time
is boring or something along those lines. Well, I just
wanted to know you think that's why the ratings are down,
because I think a good topic here, Sean, Here's why
I think the ratings are now. That's probably contributing factors.
I mean, football is going so well, it's early in
the season. I get all that. I think this, Sean.
(01:38:38):
We in the media, and I'm a part of it obviously.
For the last fifteen or so years, we have talked
so much about rings. It's all about rings. You did
it last hour, you ripped hard, and he's not this,
He's not that because he doesn't do it in the
play like we have belittle the regular season to make
(01:38:59):
it doesn't even matter out, yesse matters. Michael Jordan was
not the goat just because of what he did in
the playoffs. He's the goat because of what he also
did in the regular You mean, like play games like
eighty two games in the same from all of the greats.
The regular season does matter, and we have made a mistake.
(01:39:20):
Now I know it's not as important as the playoffs,
but we have made a mistake and belittling knit to
the point now where players, most notably Kawhi Leonard is
also be little knit doesn't matter. And now from the
media to some players to the fans, the fans are like,
(01:39:40):
what don't matter. Let's should wake me up in in April.
But when the play is I think that's I think
this is happening in every sport. And that's because my
belief is there's just so much out there. Now there's
no there's Amazon, there's video, but even the sports we see,
(01:40:01):
we can see every single game. Not to mention, you
can now be playing a video game and have people
watch you play a video game that's never been done before.
And Clayton Kershaw is a perfect example. You could you
and you and Rob talk baseball all the time. Clayton
Kershaw is an unbelievable pitcher, three times saw young Winner,
eight All Star games, unbelievable. He's melted down in like
(01:40:21):
three or four playoffs and that's all that anything matters.
Who cares what he did in July. Same thing happens
in baseball. Now, well, the test case will be Lamar Jackson.
But you're right, I would agree sixteen games. Hey man,
you gotta get to the playoffs in college football. Similar
But what do you do then? If you're the NBA,
you can't say all right, we're gonna play fifty games
(01:40:41):
because the owners are gonna say you're not taking twenty games.
That's a million of pop, right, I get? Because I
look ideally in a perfect world, I would go to
about ninety baseball games. Seriously, how many of that? And
then I would go to like sixty roughly sixty BA
NBA games. That would make it more intends. Now, if
(01:41:01):
you really wanted to make the regular season relevant again,
instead of eight teams from each conference, you could go
to like four. Well that's what they were. It would
have to not they were not quite more. Wait till
you want the playoffs. No, I'm just saying that is
what would make the regular season matter. Oh I gotta
be a top four seed in my conference. Now that
didn't load management would be done. Well, how about this?
(01:41:24):
How about this? Would they had load management? If they
just reseeded the top playoff teams and East West, it
didn't matter. Everybody was hopped in. If you were number
one in the West, the top three, you still would
have it. But I get I think it should be
top sixteen records. I've said that for a long time,
but that is what Here's the thing. Though. The playoffs
(01:41:46):
is fantastic. It's a two it's really a two month season,
two and a half month season, and it's great. So
I don't want to see it watered down to only
eight teams, four in each country at one time. I'm
just saying that would make the regular season. So the
Clippers have no urgency to finish in the top three
or four, because you know, the biggest series, the biggest
(01:42:08):
series will have is against the Lakers at their home stadium, right,
so there's no Lake. Oh I'm worried I gotta go
to Denver. Oh No, not losing the Denver if you
got Kawhi and Paul George and that awesome. But here's
the thing, time and Nick right of first things First,
our colleague here at FS Fox Sports. He's brought this up.
So it's his thought and it makes sense, and I agree,
(01:42:28):
So I'm gonna give him credit. But he brought this up.
It's obvious, but he was the first I heard say it.
If the Lakers and the Clippers meet, that will be
a seven game series where the Lakers essentially have home
court every single night, even when even the games or
the Clippers home games. You know, it's gonna be sixty
(01:42:50):
percent Lakers fans there because it's a it's just a
Lakers time. You you agree, I don't disagree. I mean,
I hadn't thought the very least it won't be like
a definitive you were at the opener of the season.
I felt like it was more like it felt like
but it didn't matter. Clippers won, right right, I'm just saying,
(01:43:11):
I'm that was gonna be like ninety and ten like
it was not for the Clippers game, but the Lakers
will have a definitive home court in their four games,
and I actually think a slight home court in the
other three. But so I would Okay, you got you
gotta do something. We'll come back to it. I think
this is a good topic. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar then Rob

(01:43:54):
We invite one of our Fox Sports Radio teammates into
the squared Circle with the tag team champions Chris we
Saw and tonight Jason McIntyre and tonight's victim, none other
than the stinking genius himself, Fox sport Raded Weekend host
Arnie Spaniardie, how you feeling this evening? Let's go, ladies.
I'm gonna use my Ivy League education against your Virginia
(01:44:15):
Tech and Orbergin educations. I'm ready to go. What IVY
League you're talking about? I went to the University of Arizona.
What it's the Southwest, the Ivy League of the South Side.
I've heard it's the Ivy League of Arizona. That's what
I wow. Isn't that the STD capital of the PAC twelve? Look,
I support the junior colleges. Wow, looks up to you guys.
(01:44:38):
Let's go. We've already beaten him, you know. Wow. Arnie
has three very hot takes to get to defend two
on one against both Chris and Jason. Let's get started
topic number one. Now. We mentioned this earlier in the show.
The Houston Rockets are protesting their results of the game
last side against the Spurs. They want to either replay
the last seven minutes or to get the win outright
(01:44:59):
because they should have more points. Arnie Spaniard agrees. He
says they should either replay the last minutes or give
them the Rockets to win out right. Arnie, you got
thirty seconds to your case. Yeah, you know, I heard
the ridiculous take. First of all, you gotta replay the
last seven fifty or whatever it was. Otherwise you're cheating
the Rockets. That's not the American way. When you have
two points taken away from you for no reason whatsoever,
(01:45:21):
then you say, hey, you're screwed up, NBA, And that's
what these officials did. They screwed up. Could you imagine
if your kids gotta be plus something exam because it
was misgraded and the teacher went, went, oh, well, sorry, gentleman,
nothing I could do. Get out of here, replay stop
it all right, I'm ashamed of you. My goodness, that's
the softest take I've heard in years. The grade that
(01:45:45):
doesn't make that's irrelevant. Grades are once every semester or trimester.
It is one of eighty two regular season games. Did
they replay last year's NFC Championship game for the Saints. No,
did they replay when Michael Jordan is Ryan Russell's so
you get hit his iconic shot in Game six? Let
the NBA Final. But they didn't take away points. Those
(01:46:09):
are those you could say happened either way, but they
didn't steal points away. It's a if that happened to
the Lakers, the NBA would say, give the Lakers two wins. Now,
this is ridiculous, but it has happened to the Rockets.
So the NBA is not gonna do anything about it.
You can't let this happen otherwise, you're cheating the Rockets,
and you're cheating the people, and you're cheating the score.
(01:46:30):
That's not the way it's supposed to be at up
the score. The Rockets had more points already. I'll give
you credit because you're coming off the top rope with
the craziest take I've heard this week. You want the
guys to come back and replace seven minutes. I mean,
it's just insanity already. Let's just move out of the
next one. You took the loss. Let's move on who
(01:46:50):
they were twenty two thirteen win. It happened. My goodness.
You know I'm not even gonna adjust them. The round
one goes to yat couple. Oh my goodness, kay, Ivy
League education is too much for you. You got another
taken to make up some ground. Take number two Arnie
Spanner on the Oar Couple the hot seat Fox Sports Radio.
(01:47:12):
Arnie says that the San Francisco forty nine ers are
a lock to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl
this season. Arnie, you got thirty seconds tell us why.
I'm glad that everybody's given up on them. First of all,
I love when people say, well, Jimmy Gee's not as
good as you think he is. He's just a pedestrian
type quarterback. He's more than that. Look what he's done
since he's been a starter in the NFL. Plus, he
(01:47:32):
took over a team in San Francisco that was owin six. Also,
the schedule's not as tough as you make it. They'll
have two games at home and they'll have it's pretty
much not that tough the rest of the way. Plus,
Seattle is one of the luckiest teams score wise in
the entire history of the NFL, with a plus thirty
six after they went ten and two. That's unheard of, Arnie,
(01:47:52):
I hate to keep saying this, but stop it. Why
it's ridiculous. Look, I'm with you in that the forty
nine ers are a legit team and have a chance
to get to the super Bowl. But to say they're
a lock when you got Minnesota, you got Green Bay,
you got New Orleans, you got a Seattle team that
went into San Francisco and beat your forty nine ers Already,
(01:48:15):
they're not a lot. They're one of many with a
shot that's it. Don't make it more, Arnie. He said,
it's not that tough the rest of the way. So
they're at the same they got Seattle, Arnie, they could
lose three or four and not even get a buy
in the first round. I honestly think the Packers are
(01:48:36):
gonna pass them us. Yeah, stop the bell, stop the fight.
Throw the damn towel on. Chris is looking really upset
because he knows what just happened. Jason swing swung after
the ball points taken away from the yard. Round two,
go to the stinking Genie. Oh, that's all right. We're
gonna knock him out in this right, all right, We're off,
(01:48:56):
tied up off. Deante Wilder's one point of tea the
hottest take of the night, Arnie. He's been saving He
even talking about it all day, and he's been saving
it him for this segment. Here, Arnie Spanier says that
he is a better hooper than former collegiate star Chris
Bussard and at best one basketball gugu and h star.
(01:49:20):
Let me explain first, go ahead, aren't let me say this.
I played with Steve Kerr. I was better than Kerr
in high school. I'm better than Kerr. Now, it was
just the part in between that was a little bit better.
My coach played for Wooden, I warned under Wooden. For
the most part, I'm fifty six years old. If there
was a senior basketball league, I would probably be a
lottery pick. If it was in the USA, they would say,
(01:49:42):
you're not, oh, you a first round pick. Arnie Spanier,
You're like the eighth pick. Overall, you're a lottery pick.
You still shoot the three? Now, what Arnie? I interview
Michael Jordan once okay, and my cousin baby sat for
Oscar Robertson. Okay, so yo. Yeah, that's that's where my
pettig three years all right, are you crow old? Are
you like sixty seven ers? I mean really, this is insulting.
(01:50:07):
I would rip you up and down. How would yanish you,
Lebron you, ain d you, I mean, Kawhi you. I
would be merciless, Kyrie, Irving you. I mean it would
be ugly. An trust a brother. Talk is cheap. Venice
Beach on the courts, the three of us on the
(01:50:30):
main court will put it on on Twitch TV, Fox
Sports TV, the Senior League. Whatever you want, bring your
a game and We'll just settle it there, my friends,
because I'm more than happy to show you that I
was a better three point of than cur should have been.
(01:50:52):
We're playing one on one, Arnie. I just teted texted
an impeccable source who compared your game to a shorter,
slower Greg Ostertag. So I'm very concerned. But I will
say this, I am if I'm able to go to
the super Bowl in Miami, I will effort to get
a Fox Sports Radio game going so we could see Bruce,
had you got a month and change to get in shape,
(01:51:15):
get your game cooking. Let's make it happen, Arnie. Let's
do it. I'm there, I'm there, our man, aldis I
mean we even do we even have to hear you?
It's over, I will say, though I have seen video
evidence of Arnie shooting up transition, and the only videos
I've seen of Jay mcarin empty gym and Chris Bruce
(01:51:37):
are posting up some guy who's way unbelievable, unbelievable. I'm
doing this to you every time. He is our man,
Artie's Spaniards, our buddy here at Fox Sports Radio. On
(01:51:58):
the weekends, you can follow who on Twitter at stinking
not stinking stinking STI N K I N genius one,
the Great Arnie span you you you know this was you.
I'm glad you had the rockets take because that's what
just happened. We got robbed by the officials. But that's it.
I did a great job. I love you guys. I
(01:52:19):
always listened. I always listened to j Back talking about
his hoop skills. So up, all right, Arnie peace brother.
More of the I Couple coming up. Keep it Like
Fox Sports Radio, be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar then Rob Parker weekdays
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
(01:52:42):
Radio and the iHeart Radio app. Man, this music is
getting me in the Christmas spirit. How about you, d J. Tisher.
Chris already wrapped your present up really yeah, a size
ten ten and a half, so I want you to fit,
all right. So I got you, got me some shoes,
so I have to get you some. They won't be
(01:53:03):
Jordan's unless I can find some really cheap ones. But
it is the Eye Couple. I'm Chris brus Or Jay
Mack Jason McIntire in for Rob Parker, who is on
his way back from Antarctica, and we brought to you
(01:53:23):
by all those own because all those zone has free
services you need to help you get back on the road,
like their free autos own Fixed Finder service with over
fifty six hundred locations nationwide. All those owners here to
help you save money and time with their free services.
So getting the job done just got easier restrictions to
apply getting his own all those owned all right, quickly, Chris,
(01:53:44):
let me ask if if you could make a list
of the top ten places you could travel in the world,
would Antarctica sniff the top ten? What is Parker doing there? Well?
To his credit, he said he had a goal, I
guess his bucket list to set foot on all seven
continents on the Earth, and he has now done that.
(01:54:07):
Antarctica was the seventh. How many continents have you been to?
South America, North America, Asia, I think that's it. Three.
That's not good. Oh, No, I've been to Europe. I
popped over to Europe, didn't spend a lot of time there.
Yet you have booked to trip to Italy for next summer.
(01:54:28):
Because this is funny, the NBA Free Agency is going
to be so non existent that you could book a
trip in July next year, like there's the first time
in years and unless yannas it's a market and then
I miss it all. But whatever I've been to obviously
North America, Europe, Africa. You've been to Africa? Yes, where Senegal?
What were you doing there? I was actually doing a
(01:54:50):
story for ESPN, the magazine where we sent a writer
to every continent to write about how they are developed
up in basketball players. This was in the mid two
thousand round two thousand and six, when we were starting
to lose international competition, remember that, And so we had
I think Rick Bucher stayed in the United States, or
(01:55:14):
wasn't him, But somebody stayed in the United States. Somebody
went to Europe. One Rick may have gone to Asia,
someone went to South America, And I went to Africa.
Senegal was just sketchy at all or no, No, it
was great, man. And I'll tell you what I learned.
What we see of Africa here in america's totally tainted.
(01:55:36):
We always see as a civil war and starving children
and someone so and not that there wasn't poverty over there,
obviously there was, but it was they had everything we
had over here, just to a lesser extent. I walked
into somebody's house. There was a video game or whatever.
(01:55:56):
Some of the players that air conditioning. But you know,
I'm not saying it was like this over here, but
it was a far cry from just some of the
depictions that we see, and I really enjoyed it. I
was there about three weeks on two two separate trips
cultured Chris Brussard. Yes, I want to go back. Should
we give listeners an update on the Lakers Jazz game.
(01:56:18):
Lakers are putting it on the jads. This is impressive.
Forty six back right, I would expect the Jazz to
make a run. Back to back games in altitude is
impressive because I've been saying, look the Clippers, as a
guy that picked the Lakers to win it all and
wants to be right, the Clippers scare me. Yeah they do.
I'm just keeping it real. Lakers going back to back,
(01:56:41):
like I'm on the cover of Lethal Weapon, back to back,
Like I'm Jordan ninety six ninety seven, who's that I'd
back to back grades? Get you drop into him. I
actually played that song to clean version for my kid,
and now he's obsessed with it, and I feel like
a dad, Like he's like, which was all these beeps? Dad? Eight?
It's like, oh, hey, you know they say some some
(01:57:02):
words that we don't. You don't say the H word, hates.
How long have you been down with hip hop? About
six years? Bro? Thanks for having me a lot of fun.
Great job, my man. It's the Eye Couple tomorrow. Aaron
Torres in OK. It's a problem.
