(00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. All Yeah, it is
the ID Couple. I'm Chris Bruce Hard alongside my partner
(00:47):
Rob Parker, and we are coming to you live from
the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. Fifteen minutes could save
you fifteen percent more on your car insurance. Visit Geico
dot com for a free RAM quote. And we are
hyped after a great football weekend, actually just a great
sports weekend altogether. Saturday night, I was glued to the
(01:10):
TV watching all sorts of stuff, and uh so we
can't wait to share it with you. Of course, it's
gonna be all pretty much all NFL today, as it
should be. We got Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, a
senior NFL writer for them, who's gonna break down the
latest with the Patriots. So don't you don't want to
(01:31):
miss that. That's in less than about twenty eight minutes.
So let me bring in my partner, mister Roy Parker.
What's up, man? How are you doing great? How are
you mister Chris Bussard. I am great. Had a wonderful weekend.
Uh got the tree for the family, nothing like you
got a real one? You well, actually we do. We
(01:51):
have our fake when I just brought it up from downstairs.
But still I got the tree. Is it nice though?
I mean it is used to always get real ones
up until uh the girls left for college. But we
got a big one. It's big, it looks real, it's
it's actually it's really nice. And we decorated it yesterday
as we are s our tradition. Yeah, that's family. We
(02:14):
decorate the tree, and my girls are home from college,
so it's all good. Man, Daddy, Daddy is happy. That's
a that's a very nice thing. I was happy to
see the Patriots video. It wasn't actually the video one
for two. That's not the one I want to see,
but I but I'll I was happy to see this one.
(02:34):
So we'll do that a couple of things real quick, Chris, Uh,
we should just thank our our listeners who support the show.
The show is doing really well and we're thrilled to
death that we've connected with you guys. So man, thank
you seriously. As you always say about the Eye Couple crew,
(02:55):
it's actually true with the Eye Couple fan base as well,
that we couldn't do it with no doubt about it.
So listen, they have to call in, they have to
pay attention and show they do a great job. So
thank you for that. And also today, Chris, was my
last day. I gave the final for my class at
the USC Yes, and I saw that on the Twitter, Twitter, Instagram. Well,
(03:20):
and some of the students wrote some really nice stuff
Chris about the class, and one kid said on Instagram,
I think it was no on Twitter said that no
one teaches with more passion and enthusiasm than me. I
thought that was really nice. That touched me today. That's great,
(03:41):
that's great. But I'm getting through to the kids. So
there we go. School is done, the final, I just
got a grade, the papers and move on. But let's
welcome in Christ the Odd Couple crew, because you're right,
we wouldn't be able to do this fine radio program
without them. Of course, we got Rob g as our producer.
Alex is our engineer. Ralph Irvin is our update anchor.
(04:04):
He'll keep us updated throughout the show. And yes, Elijah,
our sports uh social media guru, one of the best
in the business, is here as well. They're all on
the other side of the glass. Come on, Chris Bousaw
it on this Magic City Monday. Let's kick him out.
(04:26):
Let's do it all right. If you didn't know, now
you're gonna know. We are officially into Spygate two. And
let's give Jay Glazer some credit for breaking that story
and getting that video. A friend of the show, he's
been on several times. He's our colleague over at Fox Sports.
(04:46):
I've known Jay since he sports period, since he used
to work at the New York Post. Chris, That's how
long I go back with Jay Jake, He's he does
a terrific job or covering the NFL, and he broke
the story where he got the video of the interaction
between the Bengals security guards and the videographer for the
(05:08):
Patriots in the press box that has sparked this latest
New England Patriots controversy. Here it is, and this is
a piece you're showing me on your advance scout. Yeah, yeah,
Come on guys, I don't see the advanced scount in
this footage. No, that's not we would trying to get
some fail perspective. My bad. That's not the sales that
(05:33):
that's why you would think you could take that. Didn't know.
I didn't. But I can delete this right after him.
Damage has done, my friend, because we deleted one yards
of the years. There's no way I can get in
(05:56):
that frontage back not being honest with you, and I
don't have a computer. Yeah, I don't see the advance
scout this video, I tell you what. That was played
on Fox Sports All Day Sunday yesterday during the Football
(06:17):
Show with Straight Hit, Michael Strahan, Jimmy Johnson, Terry Brash,
all those guys again, great job by Jay Glazer. But
Rob the Patriots videographer, that's the freelance guy. I guess
he sounds guilty. He just does. He's like he right,
he knew, like he knew he was doing something wrong
(06:37):
because of his response, right right. It sounded like before
they even said to him, hey, you know you can't
shoot the sidelines, it sounds like he already knew that
he couldn't shoot it. That was wrong. And then if
I'm if I'm caught and I'm just sharing my personal
view if I get caught doing something wrong, wrong that
(07:01):
I really didn't know I was doing wrong, Like I'm
really like I had, man, I had no idea. My
first response isn't really, will let me delete it. I'm
gonna get rid of it. We make this go away.
It's like, hey, what right? I didn't even know that
was wrong? Why I can't shoot the sideline? That's what
this That's what the scout's looking at. He's looking at
the sideline. Why can't you know what they told me
(07:24):
to do? Right? This was my son. I don't know
if he'd say that, but you would say, look, I'm
here to shoot the advanced scout. And what he does
he looks at the field and he looks at the sideline.
That's what I'm shooting. I had no idea. I couldn't
do that. And you know, but he sounded like he
knew and he was kind of cool with it, like, look,
(07:46):
I can delete it, make it go away. I don't
have a computer. I can't save it, like you know
what I mean? It almost like he was trying to
cut a deal, right and Rob, Look, I would love
I don't want I think you and I'm not saying
this as a bad thing. I think you want them
to be guilty. Well only because of the checkered past,
(08:07):
Chris that it really is. If this was their first defense,
it would be different. But we just have a history
of it and there are a lot of people who
love football in the game, and it's just like you
don't want it to be at a situation where someone
is cheating or right, like like when we we we
(08:28):
love the Astros, right, and what they've done they turned
their franchise around chrispher and won three one hundred games
or more the last three years, right, and then all
of a sudden you hear about the scandal. Doesn't it
change how you look at them? Totally? Totally, totally, And
that's the thing, Like I don't want them to be guilty,
but I'm not gonna sit here and be blind, you know,
(08:49):
I don't want to think the twenty year run of
dominance is tainted. Right. And the saddest thing, rob is
because if you hear everybody and I would tend to agree,
but you hear everybody saying they don't even need to
do it, Like why are they doing anything, and I
would tend to agree with that. But this brings all
(09:09):
this cheating does make you have to at least consider
maybe they do need to do it. Maybe this is
why they're always more prepared than everybody else, right, Maybe
this is why they know the little things that nobody
else knows about their opponent. Maybe this is why they
(09:31):
always seem to make the right adjustment. I'm it makes
you wonder, makes you wonder. I would tend to believe
if they don't need it, they still would be great
without it. They just gotta issue. They got a problem.
They gotta they're addicted to it, to cheating, but you
do have to at least consider the other alternative. Maybe
(09:54):
they need to, And that's the worst thing for the
NFL and the Patriots rob if that were If that's true,
no doubt about it. And I think what people don't
get when they say the Bengals are when they were
one and twelve, they don't need any help to beat them.
They're terrible. It's about getting footage and file footage that
Bill Belichick has done with coaches. It might not be
(10:15):
they got a new coach, Chris, you don't have anything.
They could be down the road for tendencies. Let me
go look through the tape, let me see what this
guy does all that kind of stuff. So people can't
just automatically say that they don't need help to beat that.
When they had the spy gate in the Big Fine
and everything that went on, it was against the four
(10:37):
and eleven Jets, right, what what help do you need
to beat the four and eleven Jets? No doubt so,
So you can't use that as an excuse to say
that this is ridiculous. They don't need help to beat
these bad teams, dude. And and I think a lot
of damage has been done. I told you this, Chris.
(10:58):
I've heard from a lot of our friends who are
Patriots fans, and not that they're gonna act like none
what's happened disappeared or anything, but they just feel like,
I can't do it anymore. I can't keep making excuses
and taking up for this franchise. How could this happen
again after what they've been through? Exactly, you can't play
dumb if you're the Patriots, right, Bill Belichick, if you're
(11:21):
Robert Craft, you can't play dumb. Of all the teams
they know about, you've already been accused. You've been You've
been charged, convicted, convicted of filming. And then there are
other incidents where you were charged with it. But they
couldn't They didn't have enough proof, right, the Rams and
(11:42):
the Panthers and the Super Bowls. They just couldn't prove it.
So you this is you know this, and so you
of all teams need to tell your videographers, look, don't
film the field or the sideline, you know. And same
thing with you know Belichick. Here's the other thing, and
(12:05):
not look, I know there they're do your job. Thing
is real. I don't know if it's a front or what,
but it is. It does take place. If you shoot
an advanced scout, you almost like you almost have to
shoot the field and the sidelines because that shows what
(12:27):
the scout is doing. If you're just shooting the scout
sitting in the press box writing down notes or whatever
using his binoculars, you know, it's natural to say, I
gotta get what he's looking at. But here's my point.
The point is not, oh, they're innocent, because of course
you gotta get the field in the sidelines. My point
(12:48):
is you shouldn't have done it in the first place, right,
some of these people, you're not gonna be able to
shoot them doing their job, and you gotta know that,
you know, Let's face it, Rob, the Patriots are the
smartest football team franchise in the league. They don't want
(13:08):
to give away any of their secrets. So if they
really have this superb advanced scouting team, they're not about
to put it on the website. So it's just I
don't know, man, It just we talked about it last week.
And if there I will I want more of a
thorough investigation, although clearly from what I'm saying, I feel
(13:31):
like there's too much smoke not to be any fire, right,
And if they if they are found out, and I
don't know if this is enough or if there needs
to be more, but if they're guilty, then Bill Belichick
has to be suspended for at least a year. I've
said a year, you said indefinitely, just an he goes
(13:52):
through some type of evaluation or whatever. But something has
to be done to send a message to everybody else
that the integrity of the game is above everything else
and everybody else, no one's above the rules. And in fact,
that's almost a direct quote from the NFL with bounty game,
and you know what, you're right on the money there.
(14:14):
There is an integrity thing that the NFL has to
be very careful with fans. Integrity is the key, Chris,
And you just said it to let people know that
they're going to protect the shield and no one is
going to have any monkey business going on. And what
you're watching on Sunday is real and hasn't been altered
(14:36):
or played with. So that's why you have to be
serious about it. You cannot pooh pooh it no no doubt,
no doubt. I mean, and and here's even if they're innocent,
like let's say it is an innocent mistake. If you
come down hard on them with a year long suspension
or whatever, so be it. Because your track record, you
(14:58):
should have known better what it Belly, What did Goodell
say to uh Sean Payton, the Saints coach, when and
Peyton said he had no idea about it, was entirely
ignorant of it. Goodell said, you should have known exactly.
You're the head coach. You're running this thing right and
and and for all the times. Because you're being caught
(15:19):
twice spy gating the flight gate you got away with
it perhaps two times before Spygate, So for all the
times you didn't get caught. I mean, let's face it,
the football world is going to applaud if if the
NFL comes down hard, and even as you said, even
(15:40):
some Patriots people, if they're honest, will have to be like, man, hey,
what you gonna do? We get it. We we understand.
We might not like it. We understand. That's how. That's
where it is. Man, this is this is bad. This
is bad, all right? Should Bill Belichick if known that
(16:02):
the Patriots were illegally videotaping the Bengals sideline and if so,
what kind of suspension does he deserves? Your turn away
In eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, we will
continue the conversation with you. Next is The Eye Couple

and Roy Parker. We got some great news for you.
There's a quick and easy way that you could save money.
Switch the guy Code only takes fifteen minutes to see
(16:45):
if you can save fifteen percent of more on your
car insurance. Or go to gecode dot com and see
how much you can save. All right, we threw it
out to you. Do you believe the Pats are guilty?
And if so, how much? How hard should the league
come down on them? Eight seven seven ninety nine? Fix,
you'll turn the way in, all right, Chris, let's kick
(17:06):
it off with Robert and Tacoma, Washington. You're on the
odd couple Fox Sports. Yo, Yo, what's up? Robin, Chris,
what's happening? Huh yn It's an honor. I can't believe
I'm on the air with you guys. I've been wanting
to talk to you guys about this big bill a
cheater for a while. Man, it's crazy. So let me
(17:26):
let me start off. Um, in the beginning of the year,
before all this man has happened, I was kind of
giving the Pats the benefit of the doubt that they're
they're doing good. Man, they were doing awesome eighteen years,
you know, nine nine nine visits to the Super Bowl,
six wins. You know, you got to give them props, right,
you know, nobody's been doing this, right, But this sis
(17:47):
comes out, man, and then you start wondering, who didn't
be doing this the whole time? Did they do this
to my seahawks? Did they know? Is that? Why did
they knew what Marshall unlynch she was gonna run, I mean,
that wasn't gonna run and they were gonna throw the ball.
Is that's how they've been cheating? They divable? It's crazy, man.
(18:10):
So all I have to say is I truly believe
that they are cheating, and they've been doing this the
whole time. And why would they Guys say I'm gonna deleted,
don't worry about it. We could just brush to some
of the broad No. Man, you wouldn't be seeing that
if you were. If you were, if you were innocent,
you'd be like, okay, take the stitch when you're done
with it, you're the back so we can finish our
(18:31):
you know, our document. Right. No, he didn't say anything
like that. Man. This guy is totally guilty. Yeah, no,
because he at the very least, at the very least
and this is giving him the benefit of the doubt
because he sounded like he definitely knew it was wrong,
but at the very least, if you had no idea,
you wouldn't know how serious it is. Right, You're a videographer,
(18:53):
you would think. So I filmed their sideline, you know,
when you know only a stupe football people and then
obviously followers of the game closely know that that's just
something you can't do because against the rules. So I
don't know, Man, the dude, dude sounds guilty. All right,
Marty in Kentucky. You're on the odd couple of Fox
(19:15):
Sports Radio. What's up, Marty? What's up? Fellas? Happy Magic Monday?
That's right, Magic City Monday. Oh my, I gotta I
gotta tell you, guys. Last week I was leaning with
the Patriots. I thought that, you know, this was too
obvious and they were too smart for it. But now
after hearing him talk, hearing that guy talk, and him
(19:36):
being so concentrated focused on getting it deleted and get
rid of he right, I'm very skeptical, and I think
maybe the Patriots plan was to hide in plain sighting.
And I feel like the last color I go back
to January twenty seven, two thousand and two ASC Championship
game against Pittsburgh Steelers before spy Gate come out. They
knew every move the Steelers were gonna make the whole game,
(20:00):
and it was and you go back and watch it,
you can tell. And then I'm starting I hate to
hate on winners, but you know, it's just getting it
getting pretty obvious. And I hear you remember remember during
Spygate what came out in the reporting that well later
years later, came out that they were told people in
the organization were told, if you get caught, say you
(20:23):
were filming for a television show, right, say you were
filming for a show we're doing. So they had they
had an excuse already already built in in case, knowing
that they could get caught, no doubt. A mirror And Philly,
you're on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio, What you
got a mirror? What's up you guys who from watching
(20:46):
Roger Goodell comes out and says, this is nothing to
flip flop them. When did I say that? Nah, look
a mirror. You always stopping you always calling enough, trying
to jump on me. Now hold on a mirror. Are
you get hung up on? You? Always calling up here
trying to jump on me? And your misquote me eighty
percent of the time. Rob. From day one, Rob, what
(21:09):
did I say? You said that you were Yah? I'm
trying to remember the exact wording. I don't want to,
but I mean, but but you weren't you weren't you
weren't giving the Patriots a pass? Right? So what's a
mere talking about? Amen? What are you saying, Chris? You
said last week? Watch Roger Goodell will come out and
say this is nothing. I listen to you guys, not
(21:32):
only a lie, but afterwards I am b I know
what I said. And even if I said, even if
I did say, Goodell is gonna come out and give
him a pass? What's that doesn't mean I think they
he should give him a pass? A MEA where are
you you? Ama? Where are you on this? I'm here?
Just as simple as this. You don't give cheaters the
(21:53):
Minnesota the doubt and everybody keeps doing that. She makes
them continue to cheat. Stop it cheatus. Let's just call
it what it is. And Tom Brady's not the goal
because he gives the answers to all the tests Joe
Martin did not. By all right, thanks for the call. Wow,
Eric and Washington, You're on the odd couple of Fox
(22:14):
Sports Radio. What's up, Hey, fellas, Hey, listen, I agree
with that last caller. Brady's got to go. He's been cheating.
What's coach, he's been cheating. I'm talking about max punishment,
and I mean max punishment. Bring with three super Bowls.
(22:35):
He's banned from this Super Bowl, he's banned from five
years down from that. Don't line super Bowls. You gotta
hit this guy out of the mouth, and you got
him hard. Now that's the take away. Three super bowl
that ain't even for five years. I just don't think
that they're taking away Super Bowls. I'm telling you, I
(22:57):
don't believe that Baseball is taking away the astro Super
World Series. I don't think that's gonna happen. Look, but
you gotta come down hard on the organization. Here's what
you have to understand that the league doesn't want to
pay like they don't want this to be totally you know,
a negative situation. Like the last thing the league wants
(23:20):
to admit or to have come out is that the
Patriots have been cheating all along for the last twenty years.
Oh right, that's a big part of why they've won
these Super Bowls. No, that is the last thing the
league that would hurt the leagu Let's squeeze an Eli
real quick in Montana. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports. Way to make it quick, Elie. Yep. My
buddy from Seattle had it right. Man. They've already been
(23:41):
guilty of stealing defensive signals. Do we need to start
looking at them stealing offensive signals? That last play against
Seattle and the Super Bowl? Superficiy at the time, and
even more so now that's all I got. You guys
are great. Thank you appreciate it. Yeah, I mean, look
you can look at it that way, Chris ride and go.
They look like they knew what was well. Like I
said last week, Rob, you only need a small advantage
(24:05):
when you're talking about world class athletes because all these
guys and teams are great, all of them. So any
little advantage. And look at the Patriots victories in the
Super Bowl point piece, what then you got an overtime,
you got the Seattle game, you got to come back
like It's just they all have been really close and
(24:29):
if they've indeed cheating and these then uh, that could
be the difference between them winning and losing. It could
be a long time before the NFL comes down with
a Patriots punishment. Charles Robinson from Yahoo Sports will explain
that next, but first, Fox Sports Radio has the best
sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our

He does a terrific job of covering the NFL. He's
(25:14):
the Yahoo Sports senior NFL writer. Our man friend of
the show, Charles Robinson, Charles, Welcome to the Eye Couple.
What's up? Its how you guys doing on a Monday?
We are great man city Monday. Don't let him drag
you down back. But you wrote a story, a great
(25:38):
story a couple of days ago. And here's the title.
NFL's tough position in Spygate two point zero probe. How
can it hit Robert Kraft without trigging triggering a war.
Explain what you mean? Well, you know, so who was
at the owner's meetings in Dallas last week. Um had
(25:59):
a chance to talk to the league source and this
would have been on Thursday, and I said, look, you've
had the tape, you know, Pattison Sunday, You've you've talked
to you know, the individuals who at least were initially
involved in this. The Patriots have admitted guilt, Like how
long is this going to drag on? Like really realistically,
and you know, they pretty much said, look, we're dealing
with Robert Craft here, like we're gonna have to make
(26:21):
sure we have every single thing squared away before we
can really do anything. And to me, the implication was
this was a guy who, despite being one of the
cornerstone owners in terms of the business of the NFL,
he's been a handful, you know, whether it's you know,
Spygate one, deflate Gate, Spygate two, the spa nonsense that
(26:42):
took place, right, it's been a busy year for the Patriots,
but really a busy dynasty. And I think deflate Gate
they know that when they went at it with Robert
Kraft and didn't have everything completely locked down and had
to use what kind of looked like junk science at
the end. You know, Craft went after Goodell so hard
(27:04):
that I think it planted a seed in the mind
of Jerry Jones. And then when Jerry Jones went through
his Ezekiel Elliott stuff, Jerry Jones ended up just declaring
war on Roger Goodell before his contractor. Yeah, yeah, absolutely,
he wanted to strike him down. He wanted you know,
he wanted to go after the king and depose him.
And you know, and I think the League knows that
(27:27):
Jerry felt emboldened by Robert Kraft turning on Goodell during
the whole deflate Gate thing, and so I think they're
sitting there going, look, this might just be literally the
height of idiotic mistakes, like literally the one thing they
could never do again. They did, but it may actually
be just a complete catastrophe from a video editor who
(27:48):
just was stupid. But they can't just let them skate.
They know that. So they know they're going to have
to punish the patriots. They know they're really gonna have
to punish Robert Kraft because ultimately he's the guy, you know,
who's who's who's got to get tagged for this, but
you got to do it in a way that doesn't
cause Robert Kraft to turn around and go, Okay, we're
going we're going back at this, all right, Well that's fine,
(28:09):
go ahead, you hit me hard, I'm gonna hit you back,
and we're gonna go to the mattresses. Charles. The thing
that I can't figure out with some people in our
business or whatever who totally pooh pooh the whole thing notion.
And I get it. You say, well, what can you
get from it? Uh? You know, they make all these
excus but there are there are certain rules we know
(28:32):
in the NFL, the way you wear your socks, where
your pants are, they're all kinds of other things. And
even when people try to discount the air and the football,
there's a reason for all of that, right, there's a reason.
So I don't understand how people can just and help
me out like act like it doesn't matter. There is
(28:52):
a there's a rule, and it was violated. I don't
even understand, wasn't it. Okay, Well, here's here's I'll give you.
I'll give you too answers to that. The first answer
is I spoke to someone else who they from another franchise.
They had done their own kind of featurette on scouting.
So we you know, we followed our guy around with
a GoPro all this stuff. He said, we knew we
(29:13):
got in that press box. There's no way. He's like,
there's no way. We can't be screwing around tape in
the field. We can't be taping other teams, like we knew,
like there was no getting around that. We were smart
enough to know that. Everybody knows that, and he goes,
we we we never did it before. We didn't get
caught for like taping like you know, and even the
guys who should have known, and yet we knew. So
(29:33):
there's there's one aspect that you should think about. Number two.
They can't get anything from it. Okay, let me let
me tell you something. I know it's the Bengals. Okay,
but where does Zach Taylor come from? Came from the Rams? Right? Ye? Now, Conceptually,
when guys break off from franchises and they go to
a new franchise and they're implanting all this different stuff
(29:55):
into their new franchise, what are they doing. They're carrying
over the entire playbook from their last franchise that they
came from. The Ram's prett damn good team, right, pretty
good team maybe, and not only a pretty good team,
but you played them in the Super Bowl the year before.
It's a team that's concepts are forward facing, like this
is where the league is going, okay, and who's going
(30:18):
to present it in the most raw form possible than
Zach Taylor who's leaving. Right, He's just gonna lay out
essentially what he's got. So don't tell me, Oh, it's
just the Bengals, right, The Bengals are running the RAMS system.
And now, I Charles, you're right on the money. And
the same thing we talked Chris and I talked about
this is uh Bill Belichick making a file on on Zach,
(30:41):
you know what I mean? Like it would be for
three years for down the road or to stockpoll information. So,
Charles Robinson, Yahoo's Sports senior NFL rider joining the eye
couple you pointed out in your article too, Charles, the
similarities in the way this was filmed as far as
what they focused on to Spygate. Can you kind of
(31:02):
explain that's the original spy Gate? Yeah, see, now we
didn't see all the now and and props to Jay
Glazer because it had it not been for Jay Glazer
wouldn't have seen any of the stuff back in two
thousand and seven. But what he had, the limited stuff
that was whirled out there, it was you know, coaches signaling.
It was a sidelade. Now it was a different angle.
But I think when you looked at what was on
(31:24):
the tape versus the Bengals, the second I thought, I'm like, okay,
this is the worst. I mean, this is pretty much
the worst that could have possibly been. Because in my
mind I had heard what it was, but until you
actually see it, it's panning left, it's panning right, Okay,
it's following players onto the field. That's a position package
in substitution. And then it's pulling back and reframing the sideline.
Now people will tell you, hey, well that's what the
(31:46):
that's what the advanced scout does. This is what he does.
They're trying to shoot sort of from his vantage point
for this show. I'm like, really need eight minutes of this? Yeah.
And then and then on top of that, you know,
the audio doesn't help where it's like they're super eager
to delete the stuff. And then you know the best
part of the little tape, though it is totally underrated.
(32:08):
It's the Bengal security guy where at one point they're
offering to delete the tape and you literally hear him
crack like like like kind of laughs. You're laughing, you know,
and you're like, like, man, is the one in twelve
Bengals that even they know? Man, this is like a
catastrophe for these guys. So yeah, the video was similar
(32:29):
to Spygate one. Anybody wants to say it wasn't is
just wrong. The only difference is this was only eight
minutes instead of a full library of tapes. Do you
feel do most people in the league. I mean, I
know you haven't talked to everybody, but is there a
general feeling that you since that other teams want the
Patriots punished and they want them punished hard? Um it?
(32:52):
I think it varies, like there's there. Prior to that
piece of footage coming out, I had a chance to
talk to I mean when I first sent text messages
out when this all first came out in like that morning,
there were like five guys that got back to me.
And then probably since then it's probably like I don't know,
around maybe it dust and they all, every single one
(33:12):
of them said the same. They all wanted to see
the tape. Now they all disagree on shouldn't be made
public and all these different things, should they be punished?
But in terms of you know, did they all think
the patriots should be punished? You know, there were some
people who there were a few guys who said, look,
I could see it being an honest mistake. Like you know,
the video departments now are doing more things with the
personnel department. It's absolutely possible that somebody makes that mistake
(33:35):
and takes something they're not supposed to take tape. And
most people are sort of like, how could you do
it in the press box in front of everybody, You're
wearing team apparel, all these different things. And then other people,
you know who I think you're talking about, people who've
been in the league fifteen years and who are around
for Spygate one. They're the well is poisoned with those people.
(33:56):
They're never going to be over it. They're always going
to be angry about it, and they're always going to say,
no way, you don't let these guys off. You don't
let these guys off for anything. That's awful. They got busted.
And if this wasn't the Patriots, if this was you know,
some other team you know that was was didn't have
Robert Kraft like flipslop it. It's Mike Brown. Mike Brown. Look,
I'm sorry, but the reality is, Mike Brown as a franchise,
(34:19):
they're not valued the way that the Patriots are. And
you know, so there's a chance that Mike Brown might
actually get a hit harder than the Patriots would in
this situation, simply because Mike Brown isn't valued the same
way you know, Robert Kraft is leadership circles. Hey, hey, Charles,
last thing. You know you're big time investigative reporter. I
need you to get the Bob Kraft video. All right,
(34:40):
can you break that story? I do for some red
Nobody needs that panning and zooming, Nor do we need
the audio. We don't need the audio either, any of it.
Charles Man, Thank you man. Keep up the great happy holiday. Yep, yeah,
(35:04):
have a safe holiday season. Thank you. Things went from
bad to worse for one of the NFL's franchises, Rob
Geez franchise. As a hint a long time listeners, we'll

(36:08):
buy or sell your next ride. All right, rob Um
Rob g It was a bad because he was a heartbroker,
and they played their last game in Oakland and it
was just they couldn't have gone any worse. You're up
sixteen six in the fourth quarter. Everything looks great, looks
(36:29):
like you're about to leave Oakland, leave the Bay Area,
leave the state of California, and go to Vegas on
a winning note. And then you get robbed. Oh, I'm sorry,
you choke. That's right, they choked. They had been better
if they had gotten robbed. They just choked. They gave
up touchdowns on the last two drives to the hapless.
(36:49):
Hapless I say, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the fans just go wild.
I know, first of all, they're upset it the way
they lost, and then they realized that this is it.
This is Yes, they've already left Oakland a couple of times,
but this is it. They're building that brand new stadium.
They're never coming back. They threw nachos on the field,
(37:13):
They threw cup holders ripped from seats on the field,
water bottles, all types of liquid that well, we'll say
it was beer, but we have no idea what it was.
I think they were even throwing plants all over the place.
It was just like a wild I wouldn't doubt it,
knowing that crew. It was ugly. There was a brawl
(37:34):
between security and a fan. A woman had blood gushing
from her forehead, looked like she had been hit with
trash or a trash can or something. Rob Ge, what
is up with your peeps? First off, I'm glad the
NFL acknowledge that they cost us that game by not
calling Derek carrd down in boundary would have saved us
(37:57):
forty seconds in the wind. But we'll move on. You
know what, it mattered, No, they would have been able
to run the clock out. But either way, but I
will say it's a lost season, bidding that the Raiders
lost like this so they could let the Raider fans
down one last time before they went over to Vegas.
And even you know, they lost whatever. They weren't a
very good team. They played above their heads most of
(38:19):
the season, but a few weeks ago you thought they
were We were right three six and we had a shot.
We had a shot. But you know what, it's embarrassing
that the narrative that all Raider fans are thugs and
that they're bad people keeps being perpetuated by a handful
of people. And that's that's what most disappointing. You know,
the Raiders have one of the best fan bases in
(38:41):
the country. Then between them, the Packers and Steelers, the
Cowboys are national families. They travel big I've been an airport.
When they comfortable, it's amazing. There's a reason why it's
called Raider Nation and not you know, the city of
Oakland or something like that. And for it to be
tarnished like this, that their last game is really embarrassing.
And and as I said on Twitter yesterday, I'm glad
(39:03):
that we're blacked out in LA. So I didn't have
to watch it on TV because it was bad. You
didn't have streaming or Sunday ticket or somewhere. I didn't
go to a d I had it up on my phone,
but I wasn't trying to watch the whole game. Once
I saw that eight, I feel it coming thing, Rob G.
The Raiders cultivate that type of fan base. Their whole

NFL related. So you definitely don't want to miss that,
and we're gonna stick with the NFL. Of course. It
(40:31):
is in NFL Monday, and we've talked a little bit
about the Patriots, we talked a little bit about the Raiders,
and now Rob, we have to go to one of
the most disappointing teams in the league this season, the
Cleveland Browns. I tried to warn you, Chris Boussaud. I
(40:54):
tried to warn you NFL America, and I tried to
warn you about the Chargers. But can we talk about this?
You're saying, are we talking about the Browns? I'm too, too,
too too, and this is one that won't be a
Wolsey Wolsey woo because I got it right, Chris, you
gotta give me a little credit. I would, But you
(41:17):
also picked the charges, the reach. We're not talking about
the charger the coat. Can you stay on top to
pick the coach to make the playoffs? Can you stay
on top? I'm just saying, so I'm asking you about
bring your shoes. I wouldn't be sticking out in my chest. No,
I'm sticking my chest out because knowing I got these
ells next to my everybody in NFL America, they put
(41:38):
them on national TV. They weren't even saying the Browns
were gonna make the playoffs. They was talking about them
going to the super Bowl. My goodness. You remember we
had Jay Crawford on Jay Crawford, the Cleveland guy. I
form a partner from the old network. Everybody they were
all in the Browns. Oh my god, they wanted to cry. Finally,
(41:59):
I'm gonna see my my long down Troden. You're from Cleveland, Chris,
you were born there. You had to come and carte
role there. When I was in Cleveland, they were nice.
Ernest Biner, we're here, But I mean, at least they
were a factor, you know, they at least they were
a factor in the playoffs against Denver. Got admit they
(42:19):
would have talked of the NFL they were they were.
I mean, look, I think it's only a few people
thought they might go to the super Bowl, but most
people seem to think they would make the playoffs. And
maybe the worst thing robe was that they themselves. They
didn't only think they were making the playoffs, they thought
they were about to run rough shod over the rest
(42:40):
of the NFL. Odell Beckham Junior, I'm I'm all right
with being in Cleveland because we're gonna win, exactly, Marius Randall,
It's gonna be so bad. They're gonna think we're cheating.
That's how good their team was. And then they said,
oh yeah, and we also got Kareem Hunts coming back.
You know all this we're loaded. Look at this team.
(43:03):
Remember there was a mess, and the networks couldn't wait
to put them on national television. All let's load up
on Browns. They wanted a second, third, fourth helping of
brown because they thought the Browns were gonna be all
about the new hotness in the NFL. I never bought
in the Kitchens, who had never been a head coach.
(43:25):
I also said they had so many personalities, and last
year people could say I was hating on Baker Mayfield.
Never bought in Chris, never bought into the seven wins
a year ago. They only beat one team over five
hundred last year when they were piling up those numbers,
and they'd beat Baltimore twelve to nine when Joe Flacco
lost his job. That's it. They didn't beat anybody, and
(43:48):
I wasn't buying it because they didn't show me that
they could beat good teams. They should have been good.
They should have been good. But this weekend we saw
why they're not. In a loss to the Arizona Cardinals
of the rookie quarterback and the rookie coach. We saw
whether or not. And Michael Silver, great reporter for the
(44:11):
NFL Network, he tweeted this, Rob Parker. I'm told by
two sources that before the game ended, multiple Browns players
yelled at the Arizona sideline to quote, come get me wow,
(44:33):
asking to come play for the Cardinals. Landry as in
Jarvis Landry, I'm told, was one of them. Wait a minute,
Jarvis Landry, that isn't doesn't he have his college coach
there right as wide receiver coach. He's got his best
friend Odell. They played together, right l lsu Chris, They're
(44:55):
buzz This is gonna be a party. This is unbelievable.
Here's what I have to say about this, Rob too,
I have too strong points to make. Number One, If
this is true, this is a sign of how a
bad I don't even want to say bad personality because
(45:15):
I don't dislike Odell Beckham Junior's personality. I actually like it.
But how we know, wherever he's been within New York,
you never even though you know he had all types
of incidents. He clearly was beloved by his teammates, you
never heard anyone, and he's pointed out this many times.
You never heard any teammates say he's a bad teammate, right,
(45:38):
You never heard any teammates complain about him. Okay, and
then here in Cleveland it's the same thing. Watch Gate,
visor Gate, cleet Gate, trade gate. You never hear any
teammates come out against me because obviously they all like Odell.
(45:59):
But here's the thing. Instead of using that leadership to
point them in the right direction, he has used it
to point them in the wrong direction. And they like
him so much that now because a week or two
ago it was reported that he had said come get me,
(46:21):
that he wanted out of Cleveland. They like him so much,
they look up to him so much, they think he's
so cool that now reportedly several other players, instead of
checking him and being like, look, dude, we need you
to be all in, they're following him. They're following him
(46:43):
and now they want out. Now they're saying come get me.
Now they don't think Freddy Kitchens knows what he's doing,
and he doesn't. But still, so that's number one the
negative impact. Unfortunately that old BJ and I think he's
like I said, I don't dislike him. I'm not. Most
(47:04):
of his stuff is in fun and it's just harmless.
It's not harmless, but you know, watch gay. It's not
the worst thing in the world. No, but it just
shows that the focus is not right. And now these
guys are following him to the point that they say,
at the exact same thing that was reported, come get me,
(47:25):
come get me. And secondly, they are not taking responsibility
for themselves. Freddy Kitchens appears overmatched. Okay, didn't do a
great job with him. We know that he deserves a
lot of the blame for this season. Going out, you
probably will be fired. And you know this, everybody's not
(47:49):
a head coach. It's just that's just the way it is.
But here's the thing. All that may be true, but
you also as a player, have to look in the mirror.
You can't just blame it on the coach. Sure, he
has a lot to do with it, but you also
have to look in the mirror and say, you know what,
(48:11):
I dropped some balls this year, I blew some coverages,
we lost our cool, and one of our best players,
Miles Garrett, is out for the rest of the season.
We're the ones talk trash. We had the same coach.
When we were talking trash. We're talking about how it's
gonna be a video game and how they're gonna think
(48:31):
we cheated, and how we're gonna win this year. Right,
so you can understand, you can you know football, and
you can see, okay, Freddy Kitchens is overmatched, but you
also have to look in the mirror and say, we
didn't get it done either. And when I hear players
saying come get me, then that tells me you're blaming
(48:54):
it all on the organization all on the coaching staff
and not taking your just blame either. And that's why
this team is a severe disappointment this season. No doubt
a lot of people who are bought in thought it
was all gonna come together very quickly. I just I
just thought it would take time. I wasn't sure there
(49:15):
was enough football to go around. Chris and O b J.
I think he you know, what was the old commercial
ball sticker shock when you look at the car, the
brand new car you want to buy. I think at
first he was like, okay when he got traded away
from New York and if he's gonna go to Cleveland,
Cleveland is cool, Chris. If you're winning football and he's
(49:37):
catching football and he's getting touched on, yes, then it's fine.
You're a pro, you know, yes, all that. But when
you're not and you're in Cleveland for that type of
guy who's a big city, bright lights, look at me
kind of personality, it ain't that cool to be in Cleveland.
I'm I'm feeling more and more like he won't be
(50:00):
there next year. That's just that's just my gut. If
you were running the Browns, let's say that you're John Dorsey.
Would you trade him? I'd have to get some for him,
but I would be up for it because he would
you be shopping him. Let's say, would you start I
try to make some calls to say maybe two to
two big type receivers really doesn't work, or maybe this
(50:24):
one didn't work because uh, Landry already had a you know,
a relationship or a rapport chemistry will if you will
Chris with Baker Mayfield, you know what I mean. He
was upset yesterday. He wasn't getting the ball either. Right,
he hadn't had a great year either. It's amazing that
you have all these weapons. And and I don't know
(50:45):
what are the numbers with Hunt since he come back,
has he been I mean, he hadn't met a little
chubby but he's just start. I don't know that I'd
be making calls, but I would only trade and I've
said this before, I would only trade him if I
got a haul and return him being ob j because
(51:08):
they they if they don't change the coaching staff, then
they're crazy. I think they're gonna get a new coach,
and I would want to get a coach and a
staff that I knew could maximize a great receiver or
a great receiving corps and a quarterback. I'll say that,
you know what I'm saying. And if they can't do it,
(51:29):
then I got to move somebody. But I would want
to give him that shot before I just traded him.
I understand that. But I'll say this to you. I
bet you there are more people in NFL America out there, Chris,
who are happy that the Browns didn't make the playoffs
and got eliminated. Would you agree like they could have
been hotness love to hate on the land. No, but
(51:51):
they I swear this stems they love to hate. They
were supposed to be Troy your arrival. Of course you
you you haven't gotten over Lebrono. I don't know that
you're the objective guy to be saying this. I'm telling you.
NFL America is dancing in the streets. They were yesterday,
(52:15):
knowing that the loudmouthed Cleveland Browns and all the people
they were verted. They were verted to the Cleveland clowns.
That's where they are, dude. It was a circus and
it wasn't pretty. And then you know what, Chris, the
Fat Lady did sing yesterday because they did not live
(52:37):
up to the billing. They weren't the guys that everybody
thought they were. I loved every minute of it. I
tried to warn you, NFL America, stop jumping on these
fads and and uh add and stern add water teams
that you're supposed to add these pieces and everything. We're
supposed to just turn out and they were supposed. I'm
(53:01):
just telling you about Cleveland. Cleveland is back where it belongs.
Stop because that team was never gonna win anything. And
I'm glad that they lived up to the real belt,
you know. Mark, Hey, this is a microwave take. No,
this what is it? December sixteen, two thousand nineteen, Mark
(53:26):
my words, Watch out for the Browns next season, Chris.
You picked them to make the playoffs this year. I'm
telling you, I'm so I'm supposed to respect. They will
be dangerous. That's all I'm saying. Eventually, you'll be right
because at some point, look, who's talking. No, I'm going
to Mexico. Let's do let's do a microwave take. At
(53:46):
the start of the season. When I gave me, when
I told you, when I told you, when I told
the Super Bowl, I told you the Browns weren't making
the playoffs, and you told me the charge his work.
I told you the raider to come to about to
get the door. The Brakes beat off of tonight by
the Saints. I take them too. I told you about
(54:09):
uh that the Ravens were gonna win the division. We
could go on and on if we could get out.
You're gonna point out all your only miss one, only
miss two, only miss two, only miss two. That's it.
Didn't you have the Rams in the playoffs? Are they eliminated?
Can't be believed? They eliminated? Just off the top of
my Are they eliminator? Ain't gonna make the playoff? Are
(54:30):
they eliminate? See what they did? You see? Did you see?
Did you see what the report was that dak Press
got through the open receivers on all night? They weren't
a guy with between five and ten yards of this.
They were wide old. They ain't have nothing to do
with it. What was I saying about your playoff pick?
Thank you got one? We got two. I only got three.
(54:53):
Don't let me start digging you probably gott I just
gave you all of yours. You you were sticking out
your chest. I was worn in Cleveland. You wanted to
make I wasn't born. You wanted to claim to Cleveland.
You will all the all happy to the Browns irrelevant.
I'm just showing the happy irrelevant. They are relevant irrelevant today. No,
they're They're irrelevant for the wrong reasons, but they're relevant, irrelevant.
(55:17):
They're more relevant than your Chargers. You know that just
because you get game show, Just because you get thirty
seconds on the pregame show. What do you mean thirty second?
Four Chargers games a year? You're gonna speak them to
make the Super Bowl? Wow? I do a two hour

I got two things here. First of all, Obj is
just straight. He's just horrible, man. I mean, I wouldn't
touch him in fantasy, I wouldn't touch him in real life.
(57:35):
They need to jettison them on phone out of Cleveland. Cleveland,
I'm sorry, Christmas Offen. Then Cleveland they backed looking like
some bumbs. Okay, do you think do you agree that
that his talking about two other teams come get me
has rubbed off on the rest of these guys, and
that's why they did it this weekend. Dude, I mean,
I mean, we've all played we've all played sports, whether
(57:56):
amateur sports or whatever. Once another team feels like you
don't really want to be a part of it, like
you ain't in this for the long haul, then that
that that stuff spreads around like a cancer. Then cast
they know he don't really want to be there. So
guess what Freddy Catches is down there looking like a clown.
You can look at him on the sidelines. He don't
know what's going on himself, you know what I'm saying.
He can't figure out. They need to try to see
(58:18):
what they can recruit something back for O. B. J.
Second of all, hey, you didn't pick my rams. My
rams got blowed out yesterday, and I understand, I told you,
I told you, and the millions of listeners plus Rod Parkers,
the Rams would not make the playoffs? Did I not, Rob,
but were eliminade. They haven't been eliminade. That was a
(58:41):
tougher prediction than you saying the hapless Browns. Anybody could
have said the Browns were go out on the limb
like me, you or something else. And for the record,
I think Jerry just said that Obj was a cancer,
but no, he's a capricorn. He was born in January.
You should have left that one bad. Sewan and Sacramento.
(59:05):
You're from Fox Sports Radio? What's up? What's up to
my uncles? From another mother? Right? I'm man able to
talk to you because you got back from an Arctica,
my man. Welcome back, man, Thank you man, Thanks Sean.
It was great. He still has icicles, and you know
y'all talk about it. Ain't no black people ever go
to an Artica. The very first person ever to step
(59:27):
for the Antartica a black man. Man, just just but
what was your name? I don't know what his name,
but he was Russia or Alaska, one of those h
Rob park Go ahead, Sean. My point is I think
that the Cleveland Browns dowtfall this year you gotta look
(59:47):
at what's continue from last year Man Baker Mayfield and
John Dorsey. Baker Mayfield was empowered by his general manager
to pick his own coach, Daniel go out there and
run his own mouth and car and put all these
checks out there that they can't cast this year, and
the media ate it all up. So when you were
looking at all these players that don't work and all
these pieces don't fit Luke, who's putting them together? Man
(01:00:09):
John Dorsey reach for the stars and fell flowering's face. Yep,
good point. That is real talk. No question. Eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox is the number? Uh, Tony
and DC, you're next up on the yard a couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Tony? What's up? Fellas?
Nice to talk to you again. No doubs happening? Man, Hey, Hey, hey,
(01:00:30):
my man. Hey. First off, Rob g don't let Richard
talk about your Raiders like that. Put them in talk
about red right eighty eight disgrace. Anyway, they haven't been
good since the league outlaws stick them. Wow, actually they have,
but wow? Well is this Rob Parker? You know Kevin
(01:00:55):
Durant drives at Masak Car. Yes, well he has a
passenger in Baker Mayfield because really he's some So Baker
Mayfield in the passenger to see this guy beats for
everybody that says anything against him in a positive constructive way.
He gets all in his feelings and if he focus
(01:01:15):
on the game way, focus on all these outside beats,
you might be a better player. The thing with old
b J is, yeah, he's gonna get your steps and everything,
but it's almost empty because his teams don't go anywhere. Hey,
thank Actually there's one playoff game here with two or
(01:01:37):
three drops, so he's just not working. Hit it appreciates.
Not a bad comparison because Kad and Baker will go
back at everybody. Right, they're bothered by everybody, but quickly,
Rob Matthew Henson, African American explorer, was the first person
to set foot on the North Pole. No, not the
(01:01:57):
South Pole. Yeah, that's a different North Pole. All right,
innocent New York. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports.
Where to make it quick? In his please? All right,
I'll make it quick. Baga Mayfield is not an adult,
he's a child. He tries to go back at everyone,
and he talks too much. The coaches and a leader
of men. And Chris Brussard is always repping like thirty
different cities, and and you know what, and and Cleveland.
(01:02:21):
They invented the toothbrush in Cleveland. Anywhere else it would
have been called the teeth brush. That's pretty good. Oh
you know the city I'm repping. The city just got
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That's who who city,
the area that produced arguably the greatest basketball player ever.
The area that produced it is called the Mistake. That's stop. Please,
(01:02:48):
that's who I'm New York is so nice they named
it twice. Stop, that's who I'm wrapping. Machine gun, Kelly Baby.
Before y'all start on the land, don't make me start flexing.
You hear that, Rob Parker silence. I have to say,
we know what. We don't have all day to talk
(01:03:09):
about all the people from New York. So I'll just
let you name your four people because that's all your God.
Mike Rabel stopping and twild stop stop. We got a
Hall of Famer in the building. Our man Rob Woods
Rod Woodson joins us next. But first let's bring it.
Ralph try to r Cleveland, a city called the Mistake
(01:03:31):
by the Lake have you ever smell Cleveland? There? Have
you ever been there? What ahead? Cleveland is cool? It's okay,
you sure, Rob spend twenty years in Detroit. Stop, I
love Detroit. You never been there, Chris, You just spend time.
I have been there. You came in to come a
(01:03:51):
couple of games. Detroit is a great city. Stop it
all right, go ahead, but we get in trouble here.
I'll just let me just do your thing. In the
NBA right now, we'll start with Monday Night football. How
about that? The Saints a three nothing lead over the
Indianapolis Colts. That game seven twenty eight to play in
the first quarter. Meanwhile, in in the NBA, Washington up
(01:04:14):
seventy three sixty eight over Detroit. That's nine five to
play in the third quarter. They're at the half, and
Toronto was sixty six to fifty four lead over Cleveland.
There's your Detroit and Cleveland references, just for you, guys.
San Antonio up thirty two twenty one at Houston. That's
with fifty four seconds to play in the first quarter
and about a minute to play in the first Memphis
(01:04:36):
leading Miami thirty one to thirty. How about this forty
seven seconds to play in the first quarter, and Dallas
has a twelve point lead at Milwaukee thirty four twenty two.
Chicago third's without Luca and say Milwaukee going for their
nineteenth straight win in that game, so we'll see if
they can hold on to that one. Chicago up thirty
(01:04:57):
three fourteen at Oklahoma City about a minute to play
in the first quarter. Now, online car shopping can be confusing,
not anymore. With true Price from True Carnate can know
the exact price you'll pay for your next car, so
it is a true car to enjoy a more confident
car buying experience. And just from the NFL, Josh Gordon
suspending definitely from the Seahawks, violating the NFL's policy on
(01:05:19):
performance enhancing substances and substances of abuse. It is his
sixth suspension since twenty thirteen, and the fifth for substance abuse.
And we'll be back to talk more NFL coming up
with the odd couple right after this word from Maco,
Are you tired of staring at that dent? At Mako?
Getting cool as you're repaired is as easy as book
(01:05:39):
quote fix. Come to Mako for a cool, easy repair
backed buy our best price guarantee. H better get Maco.
Monday Night football continues with the Saints leading the Colts
as we send it back to Chris Brussard, Rob Parker
and Rod Woodson. All right, thank you, Ralph. It is
the eye couple coming you lie from the Gico Fox
Sports Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent of
(01:06:00):
more on your car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico
dot comer called eight hundred nine four seven auto. The
only hard party is figuring out which way is easier.
Rob g and DJ Alex Tyshert. This guest deserves some
theme music too, So y'all gotta look. I'm gonna ask him.
He's a Hall of Fame defensive back, arguably the best
to ever do it in his position. Rod Woodson, Rod,
(01:06:22):
what do you want your theme music to be? Oh? Man,
I don't I never thought about that. You know, let's
go with uh, what's the chef? Used to chef that
a bad mother? Shut your mouth about. I'm talking about
(01:06:43):
about chef. That's perfect. I used to love chef and
and and when you say hall of Famer, his bust
is gonna be right next to Eli Mannings. That's gonna
be great, Rod, Right, I'm not going he's probably be
hamping out front, hey, speaking about Hall of Famers and
(01:07:05):
people got their hands in the cookie jar and doing
some bad stuff. You saw the video of course that
Jay Glazier got exclusively for Fox. Uh. The Patriots, and
you know the situation there and what they've done over
the years and the treating scandals. What do you make
of this? And how bad does this make the Patriots look?
Even if it's innocent? Innocent? I mean, I mean, like no,
(01:07:30):
but I know, I know, but you know, you you
know about the Patriots, So what do you what do
you make of this latest? Uh? You know, I know
one thing I know, Uh, in my four years of
coaching with the Raiders, uh, talking to um you know
uh people in the different organizations, you know, they they're
(01:07:50):
always the one. They're the group that's always trying to
push the envelope and to push the rules. And but
this rule was being pushed. They broke this rule already once. Yep,
they kind of the league has really swept that one
under the rug for him. And you remember they destroyed
the tape so we couldn't even see them. That's what
(01:08:12):
I'm saying. They swept that one under the rug for him.
You cannot allow them to do this again and not
have considerable consequences for this organization, for Bill Belichick, for
the owner, for the organization as a whole. You cannot
tell me Bill Belichick didn't know. He knew. He knows everything.
(01:08:34):
You would think that a head coach right knows what's
going on in the organization. If somebody's getting a credential somewhere,
there's some sign off, there's something to say that he
totally had no idea. It is hard to believe. Come on,
come on, he said he didn't know the first time, right,
And that's the thing. They're saying the same things that
it came out that they had told employees if we
(01:08:57):
get caught, say this was for a TV show, so
it's it's the same thing. So this might point to
the NFL, the league office. I mean, listen, they can't
let them make a mockery of who they are in
their powers to be. So if if you let New
England do this again, and you and you really sweep
(01:09:17):
this one under the rut the second time and the
other you know violations they've had over the years, if
you've kind of let them kind of go to they have,
I mean what they had some punishment, but not a
cumulative effect punishments like the NFL normally hands out. If
you let it happen one more time, what do you
(01:09:38):
think every other team should just start doing. They should
start cheating, just like Bill Belichick and his staff and
his group. So if you let it happen, it's your fault,
the NFL. And he's turnishing and I can't say him,
but I'm saying they as a group as a organization
doing these things that are against the violate against the rules.
(01:10:01):
They're turnishing the shield and the shield the NFL office
is to protect that shield. Don't let it get turnished.
And they've done everything in their powers in different lights
to have harsh, harsh punishments across the board for different
violations for individuals, for teams, and if they let this
one swoop under the rugs, shame on them, right, I've said,
(01:10:22):
I think it should be a year long suspension for Belichick.
Rob said, indefinite suspension. What until they find out, until
they got until they find out a sense rod of
how deep this is what's going on? You know, talk
to some former employees, how big is this cheating scandal?
How much cheating are they really doing? They need to
(01:10:45):
get to the bottom of it before they allow them
the coach again, what do you think they're not They're
not gonna do that. They've never suspended in so, you know,
so if the first suspension comes in, it should be
at least four games. That's what I would think that
they would do if that's going to be there. Payton year. Yeah,
(01:11:06):
they did a year for Sean Payton. But somehow, some way,
for some reason, the New England Patriots and their way
of doing things, they don't get punished and I would
and I'm with you, guys, I hear you, but I'm
saying that they've never They didn't punish him the first time.
(01:11:27):
Are they gonna they didn't punish him or they gave
him some consequences for the shlate gate, they didn't put
them out. My question is can they punish him? Are
they going to punish him new time? I think they
won't be that harsh on them because it's the New
England Patriots and it's Bill Belichick, and it's one of
the most winningness coaches the you know, have the what
(01:11:47):
the one coach in the NFL history has six Super
Bowl rings. It's gonna turnish. It turnishes the NFL and
what they're about. So I don't think that they'll do
it for a year, but I hope they do something
they I think minimum, just like a player first offense,
that you get caught and they do something about it.
You get four games. Hey, I'm thinking a minimum of
(01:12:09):
four games. Right. The other thing real quickly we want
to get to is the Browns. Did you have them
making the playoffs? How surprised? Okay, so you didn't either,
So you're not all that surprise that this didn't all
come together like a lot of people thought it would,
including Chris Bussard. I'm sorry, Hey, this thing about this then,
this is what I was told to me in nineteen
(01:12:31):
eighty seven by Chuck Nole. Everybody's talented. Every player that
you get is talented in some capacity. And just because
you have talent doesn't mean you're going to have a
team that wins a lot of football games. And what
I said at the beginning of the year, who's their leaders?
I don't know who they are, and who's going to
(01:12:52):
be the head coach? I mean, Freddy Kitchen was asked
the question about a job, he said, I don't care
about my job. I'm like, okay, I don't know if
that's should be the answer. No, that isn't. What do
you mean you don't care about your gig? Exactly? Like? Look,
he should say, listen, we all got to coach better.
It's my fault that we've fallen on hard times. I
got to do a better job of dot and night
(01:13:13):
and crossing the team blah blah blah blah whatever it is.
But you can't say that because now you're saying that,
and what are the players saying? Well, he don't care
about this job. I don't care about much. Yo, I'm
I'm out of here. Well, well to that point, ride
We reportedly several players said the Arizona this week, come
get me, just like OBJ was reported to have said.
(01:13:34):
Are they following O? B J? Is that what this is? Wait? Wait,
First of all, Arizona be the wrong team to say
come and get me, right, you don't want to say that, Baltimore.
You know, right, winning seat somebody doesn't win it. You
want to talk to him about about coming and getting me.
So you know, I don't know about the Arizona thing.
(01:13:54):
But I mean, I feel their pain. But your leadership,
it's everything. Your head coach doesn't have to be this
genius exes and old, you know, young playmaker or play caller.
He doesn't have to be that, buddy. What he does
have to do, he does have to galvanize fifty three
(01:14:16):
men to make them do uncommon deeds because every man
has flaws and they want to do their own thing.
They want to be an individual. And it seems like
for some reason, Freddie just can't get all these guys
to buy into the big picture. And if you can't
get him to buy into the big picture, then it's
the wrong coach to get. I mean, I don't know
how he got the gig anyway, but anyway he got it,
(01:14:39):
he needs to be to keep it, and he should.
We should want to keep it. He should do everything
in his power to say the right thing to keep
the job. I think he'll He'll probably be gone, right,
so we'll see what they can do next year. Who gone,
I think he's gone. I think he's definitely gone. I
could be wrong, but I think he's definitely. I'm not
I'm not convinced because it be an indictment of Dorsey
(01:15:01):
if if if they got rid of them after one year.
So I'm not sure about the see all right, we'll
right next week. Or do we have it going out?
The theme music? There it is? That is a bad mother.
Shut your mouth, all right, it's the hottest radio game
(01:15:24):
showing the country. Next, sources say it's The Eye Couple
of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker
weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. Every time I
hear this, I just don't know what to do. I
(01:15:45):
ain't paying I love hip hop, I love Christmas, but
this just ain't right. Come on, you can't. Don't be right? Yes,
give me, give me run DMC. It's Christmas time in
Hollis Queens, mom cooking chitless and colleague greens. That DMX
(01:16:07):
just don't sound like a Christmas caroler. I'm sorry, Am
I wrong? No, it's you know what I've always said, DMX,
But he just he too hard of this. All right,
let's get to the game. We're now How many time
y'all keep stalling because I went out I'm winning this weekend.
Sources say, is it? Check check check every sources say
(01:16:28):
these two have been covering sports for nearly three decades, apiece.
I will say this. Let's put the big JA journalists
to the test. It's sources say, that's right, it is.
Sources say the couple Fox Sports Radio we use every
single Monday at eight forty five pm Eastern where we
take a second to put Christ and Robs one hundred
and nineteen combined years of journalist minds to the test
(01:16:52):
to find out if they can tell the differenceween a
good source and a bad source. So let's get started.
Story number one, gentlemen, My sources say that last week,
the Cowboys cutkicker Brett Marr just hours after he visited
a nearby children's hospital depthed out in Cowboys gear Robin
story is good. I think that is good. They don't
(01:17:15):
care about that other stuff. Where he was, he could
have been at the ice cream parlor, didn't matter. I
think that's true. True. Oh, I see, I gotta pick
tougher stories, all right. Story number two, My sources say
that in New York high school soccer coach is catching
heat this week after he took the team out to
(01:17:36):
dinner at Hooters following a season ending loss. Chris, I'm
my source is good. Wow, I say true. What's wrong
with Hooters? The wings are good, the boopies are good.
Everything's good. The fries are good. You know that guy beeped?
No it didn't, Alex. I'm a woman. I think that's
(01:17:58):
true too. Okay, okay, two to two. By the way,
Feelings says scoring that it's now nine and nothing. I'm
onney to that football over the Colts. Story number three
source to say the acupa Fox Sports Radio PGA golfer
Tommy two gloves Gainey was the rest of this week
in Florida during a prostitutions thing trying to solicit a
(01:18:20):
woman with sixty dollars. Robin source is good. I love
the detail in the sixty dollars. I'm gonna say that
that is false. I'm gonna say false too. Sixty dollars?
What what? What kind of what? I thought it was
somebody else. I just thought, but the details are good.
(01:18:43):
I just thought that he even had the nickname two
gloves were back story. You guys are tied. Don't know
what two gloves make about? What he's doing about former
NBA player. My sources to say former NBA player Gershwan
Yeah Busele, who now plays professionally in China, who was
(01:19:03):
fined by the CBA last weekend for not looking at
the Chinese flag during the national anthem. Chriss is good.
Who gershon U Basile. I'm gonna say false, it was
another player. True. Oh hold on, it ain't over, so
(01:19:34):
we gotta ask the next question. Next question, it's just
take just take your loss again, Chris Russar. This is
the Lads Radio. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports
talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows
at Fox Sports Radio dot com and within the iHeart
(01:19:55):
Radio app search f s R to listen live. It
is the Eye Couple. I'm Chrissy's Rob. We're coming to
you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. Fifteen
minutes could save you fifteen percent more on your car insurance.
Visit Geico dot com for a free rate quote. All NFL,
all the time. Although we will step in and start
(01:20:16):
with a little, small, tiny NBA story, but we got
Dean Blandino Fox Sports Rules Analysts coming up in less
than thirty minutes, so we'll talk to him about the
controversy at the opening the flipping of the coin between
Dallas and the La Rams on Sunday. But Rob g,
(01:20:37):
you you told me about an interesting story that's trending
on Twitter. Go ahead and explain that, right. We will
get to back to the NFL conversation in a minute.
But this is pretty interesting. So Shack posted something on
Instagram yesterday. Someone had photoshopped a picture of it looks
like Shaq and Kobe playing two on two against Lebron
(01:20:59):
Anthony Davis. So Shaq posted the picture on his Instagram.
He says, saw this on the GRAM two on two?
Who you got? You already know who I got? He
posted it, you know, no big deal. It got picked
up by several sports media outlets, you know, debating who
do you think is gonna win this two on two
Shaq and Kobe A d and Lebron and just running
on through Twitter about ninety five percent, say Shack and Kobe. Yeah,
(01:21:24):
I think I'm in that ninety five percent. But that's
that's surprising that only from this standpoint, and and maybe
maybe I'm I just think, you know, like, are you
you you? You you agree? No? I agree? But but
I'm saying, I'm surprised that the millennials, they all believe
that everything that they see now is better than anything
that happened before. But I guess Shack and Kobe are
(01:21:45):
different because they did win the three in the World Championships,
and Lebron and a A D haven't won anything yet,
do you know what I'm saying? So maybe that's with
all due respect to Kobe, who obviously is an all
time great, did to me this is about shock. You
just ad just would have no prayer of stopping shock.
That's what That's what this is about. Because Lebron and Kobe,
(01:22:08):
even if you I think Lebron's better, but even if
you want to say they played to a draw, I
don't think anybody's saying Kobe's gonna play Lebron. So this
to me is about shock dominating a D. Is there
any duo you would take over Shack and Kobe? I
mean in a two on two game, not in five
on five, because there's others I take in a two
on two. Patrick Ewing and John Starks spoken like a
(01:22:34):
true New York the only possible I'm the only possible
rob would be And if you counted three pointers and
it wasn't make it. Take it. If it wasn't make it,
take it right, So you don't get the ball after
you make it. Durant and Steph. Now, I say that
because obviously they couldn't stop Kobe and Shock. But they're
(01:22:56):
shooting threes while Kobe and Shock and especially Shack are
getting two. Yeah, but that's the only thing I don't know.
I mean, they would Steph would be bloodied and mangled
by the time it's over right, and Durant too, probably,
but interesting. But anyway, let's get back to the NFL.
Thank you, Rob G for that little diversion. Interesting story,
(01:23:21):
Rob that we haven't addressed yet with the NFL. But
we know that last year was all about Pat Mahomes.
He was the MVP. I picked him to be the
MVP again this year. He was derailed by a few injuries,
but still he's back. They're gonna be in the playoffs
and we'll see what he does in the postseason. But
Chris Harris Junior of the Broncos after the Chiefs beat
(01:23:46):
them Sunday, this is what Harris Junior said about Mahomes.
He's the best. There ain't no doubt about it. He's
better than Lamar. Now what is your feeling on that? Now,
I'll talk first. I'm going with Mahomes and Lamar. We
talked about it on Friday. I think you're writing that
(01:24:07):
he won't be unanimous, but I think he should. Like
I think I can't justify voting for anybody else at
to this point of the season other than Lamar Jackson
for MVP. But that said, if I had to choose
who am I taking, I can start my franchise with
either of these guys. I'm taking Pat Mahomes. I just
(01:24:30):
think what he does is more sustainable. Now, maybe I'm
judging that off history. Maybe I'm thinking the running quarterback
is not gonna be as durable and gonna get hurt eventually.
You know, I think teams, you know, we haven't seen
many teams see Lamar for a second time. Last year
when the Chargers saw him for the second time, obviously
(01:24:51):
wasn't as good yet they shut him down after he
destroyed him in the first time. This year, the only
team they've seen twice is the Bengals, and obviously they're
no good, so he ran rough shot over them both times.
They will see the Steelers and the Browns for the
second time to finish off the season, and then of
course in the playoffs they'll see some teams for the
second time. So I just think that what Mahomes does
(01:25:15):
by throwing the rock is more sustainable and I can
count on him for the next twelve to fifteen years. Lamar,
even if he doesn't get hurt, is going to slow down,
and at some point in his career, maybe five years
from now, whatever, he won't be running like this, seven
years whatever, running like he is now, and then as
(01:25:38):
good of the pastors he's become, he's not as good
as Mahomes. So I would go with Mahomes. Rob Yeah,
I mean, I just think that's the logical pick, and
it makes sense if you're looking at historical But just
it's amazing to me what Pat Mahomes was to catch
me out the new hotness last year, everybody went waving
(01:26:00):
fifty touchdowns all his first full season. He's changed the game.
How can you stop him? He's gonna throw for sixty
touchdowns this year. He's gonna only gonna get better. We
heard all that, and this year nobody's talking about him.
It was like, I wouldn't go that far. Yeah, nobody's
talking about him. Who's nobody when you're not listening, nobody, mean,
(01:26:20):
plenty of people are talking about him. He's not in
the MVP conversation, but that doesn't mean people aren't talking
about him. But he went from like this guy's hurt too. No,
but I got it. But he's been back for weeks, Chris,
he's been playing and is he playing poorly? They're just playing, Okay.
I don't think he's oody. Yeah, he's gonna be all pro. Yeah,
but I don't think anybody's rand and raving about him
(01:26:42):
this year. I don't hear him that much chatter about him.
It's all about Lamar and because he does something different
that we really haven't seen him. When what he's the
fifth leading rusher in the league and he doesn't have
to throw that off And I mean, he had five
touchdowns on fifteen passes the other game. Is that what
the number was, rob G Chris? Do you remember? I
don't know if it was fifteen, but five touchdowns on
(01:27:04):
like fifteen, Yeah, it was. It was crazy. It's unbelievable
what he's doing. Yeah, I was right. That was the
number fifteen completion, which which is crazy, Chris when you
think about it, and he was able to get five
uh and and the only negative I guess is people
saying and like what you said is will at last.
(01:27:25):
But if we're just talking about right here, right now,
he's been the most he's been the toughest guy to
stop in this league. He's right now unstoppable and um
he brings a new added dimension to the game. And
I don't know how they could win the Super Bowl
this year. They could, they really could. Well, you know
(01:27:46):
what he's played. I mean, he's been dynamic this year
and he is the rightful MVP in my view. But
who would you pick to start your franchise. It's a
good question. Uh, I might take a chance with Lamar
And you know what, Chris, I probably would have to
(01:28:07):
make a real fair adjustment, honest, look at it. I
want to see him in the in the postseason. I'm
not saying he has to win the Super Bowl, but
I just want to see, like how this plays, you
know how it's just the playoffs last you know. I mean,
the only thing I didn't like was how they got
shut out in the first half at home and then
they had to rally back and then they fell short.
(01:28:27):
But anyway, he did want to bounce them back in
the second half. Um, I would just like to see
how this plays out in the playoffs when you eliminate
the bad teams, Chris, you know what I mean. And
it's all he's and you know you you've pointed this
out before. He did beat a lot of good teams
this year. Yes, it certainly wasn't just be no no, no, no,
(01:28:49):
as no doubt. I mean, you know he beat the
Patriots when they were undefeated. Uh, he beat at San Francisco. Uh, right,
he's he's beating some good teams. But I want to
see in the postseason. The postseason to me, I just
because we watched last year when they and you you
brought it up already dominated Uh the Chargers, right and
(01:29:12):
first first go round and then in the second go round. Uh,
in the playoffs, he couldn't move the ball. Remember it
was late in the game, after the game was over.
He wound up putting him from prevent Yeah. I actually thought,
while I didn't think they should go away from Jackson
as their future, I did think in that game that
(01:29:33):
Baltimore should go with Joe Flacco. Yeah, a lot of
people like that at that point that you can't utilize.
See that's the other thing too, And that's a great
point that you just brought up, is what happens if
you're down big that that eliminates that eliminates that part.
I guess you could still run, but you really can't, Chris,
because you need you need clock and you need points quick, right,
(01:29:58):
and the clock running. Yeah, the clock keeps running and
you run out of time. So you're almost have forced
into having to throw almost every down if you fall behind,
say the defense or so say you're down two touchdowns,
or you're down or seventeen nothing. Now, what right right?
Can we do? Exactly? I agree, there's no question about it.
(01:30:22):
I Also, here's a point I want to bring up
to Rob because we've always heard that the reason you
can't have running quarterbacks in the NFL is because they
won't last, right, they'll get hurt. And I've bought into that,
but I'm really starting to wonder. I mean, we heard
Greg Roman. Now, granted he's the champion of the running quarterback.
(01:30:43):
He had Kaepernick, he has San Francisco, so maybe he's
biased a little down his guy, right, right? I mean
Michael Vick's third year, we know, he became a full
time starter, like really a second year, play fifteen games.
And then his third year he got hurt and only
played five and then after that fifteen fifteen, sixteen, and
(01:31:06):
then of course he was suspended and he came back
in twelve, twelve, thirteen, you know, So it wasn't like
Michael Vick was all broken up and getting hurt, you
know every seven or eight games. Cam Newton now he's
over time, just the wear and tear has worn him down.
(01:31:28):
But I Donovan McNabb lasted. McNabb lasted a long time,
you know, as a running quarterback. You know, he wasn't
really a running quarterback. He ran, Yeah, he ran a
lot Steve Young you know, again not a running quarterback,
but did run. Like I'm wondering, Rob, I'm really wondering,
and I'm not I don't say. I'm not saying I
have an answer, but are do we make too much
(01:31:52):
out of a running quarterback getting hurt? I tend to
think he will take too many shots. But maybe I'm wrong,
and maybe the conventional wisdom is wrong. Yeah, I get it,
you know, I get it from the standpoint of it's different.
They protect a quarterback. But once you're out the pocket
and you and you're running, Chris, you know you can't
(01:32:14):
be saved. But even so you're writing that regard, but
you can't hit dudes like you used to be able
even outside of the pocket, you know what I mean.
So that may but maybe in today's NFL, where you
can't use the helmet like you used to, and you
can only hit quarterbacks here and there. I mean, granted,
(01:32:35):
when he's running, you can hit him, but you know
you can't. You just can't see off on dudes like
you used to. Maybe this is more. You know, a
guy can't a running quarterback can't survive in today's NFL
a lot longer than he would have been able to
in the past. Maybe that's it. Maybe, and we're only
(01:32:56):
gonna know within time, But I still would would. He
brings a unique situation that we haven't really seen and
the streak that he's on, and it just seems to
be no let up. I just they were scary team
and come postseason time, they just are no no question,
(01:33:16):
there is no question about it, all right, Who is
the best quarterback in the NFL right now? Lamar Jackson
or Pat Mahomes and which guy would you pick at
your franchise? QB. Moving forward, You're turned away in eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven nine

eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. All right, let's
(01:34:46):
start in Fresno with Alan. You're on the odd couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Alan? What you got Hey?
What's going on y'all? Hey? To answer that question? Man,
I'm taking Lamar Jackson right now because nobody got it.
Nobody has an answer how to stop this guy? Not yet,
You're right, Allan, And that's the part. Not not yet?
And they martin your franchise with him over at my homes. Yeah, absolutely,
(01:35:11):
and my homes. He gonna be one of those quarterbacks
and he's gonna always be, you know, real poised guy.
But look, he's been around for a while. He's been around.
It's the third year. But we've also seen guys like
that not win. Who is this year as a starter? Yeah, yeah,
you're talking about around for a while. He's gonna be
around for a while. He one of those guys. He
(01:35:32):
gonna consistently get you to the playoffs, but they never
gonna win the super Bowl. Why not our Jackson? Why
now you you to super Bow? Because you hadn't seen
that before? We have now Lamar a quarterback like lamar
Win the Super Bowl either, that is true, but right now,
this is a different This is a different kind of
guy right now. Man, they don't have an answer how
(01:35:52):
to stop to this guy, and they're so hot. I'm
gonna tell you, I don't I don't see him not
winning the super Bowl with this kid right now, as
long as he stay healthy, they're gonna win it. Now.
Next year, different story. Everybody got a whole year to
watch film and figure out how to stop him. He
ain't gonna be nothing next year. We ain't gonna be
talking about him next year. But right now, I don't
that all right? All right, all right, we're all over
(01:36:14):
the map. All right, let's go to Cane in DC.
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. Is this
big Daddy Kane? It might be brother? What's up? Man?
I go today? Gentlemen, we love that we're on in DC. Man,
you don't know, you know, I got love for DC shows,
(01:36:36):
enough love on the show. But I'm going to y'all
got hold on the Wizards and win the red Skins.
But we want to show y'all love. But the Nationals, Christ,
we gave y'all love. I didn't give the Nationals love.
I picked up. I picked the Nationals in the playoffs
to beat the Dodgers and they win the World Series.
We gave y'all love the Nationals love. That's that's true.
(01:36:56):
That's true. You did, gentleman. That's true. That's true. I'm
gonna I'm gonna throw Richel in the game. I'm be
honest with you. I wouldn't take either one. I'm taking
Russell Wilson. I'm taking question. Russell's a bad boy. But
but I know that's not the question. But when, when, when,
When it comes to what quarterback I would want to
start my team with. I remember I had a tune
between the two. I would go with Pat Homes because
(01:37:16):
me personally, the hittor Lamar take they just scared me.
And I'm just scared that one day he's gonna run
across somebody tim of the Ray Lewis, and it's gonna
be something that I don't want to see. And as
a gym that wouldn't be something I could take a
chance for it. And I have to go with Pet Mahomes.
Just off, just just off, just off basic logic, And
I think you do Ray a good point. Where you say,
are we giving too much into quarterbacks being injured? I
(01:37:40):
could say, yes, we do, But then I think back
to that hit the Robert the Griffin third took when
he came in filling for Lamar Jackson, and I think
about if that's the type of hit he gonna take
seven years from now. Yes, that's the type of thing.
That's the type of thing that makes that makes me sweat. Yeah,
but if the running quarterback you're going, you're gonna lose
some speed, just like running backs. Running backs there's a
(01:38:02):
reason they don't last as long as quarterbacks. Well, it's
all has changed because it used to be a day
like Barry Sanders and guys like that played for ten
or twelve years. But that still isn't No, I know
what I'm just saying. And no, but even those days
are gone, even before a guy running back to last
that long. Chris, Randy and Seattle, you're in the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What you got Randy? Hey,
(01:38:24):
what's going on? Guys? Make sure y'all saw some love
for Seattle. I see you, guys. I don't want to
talk about Russell Wilson. We talk about Chris. Chris is
the biggest Russell Wilson. Guy, are you kidding? Chris just
said that he would unanimously go for Lamar Jackson. He was,
he was picking Russell Wilson and b MVP earlier this year,
up until a month or two of ye a month
(01:38:46):
or five weeks ago, I had Wilson. Give me your
give me your reasoning for Wilson because you think he's
the MVP over Jackson. Russell's great, But Chris, Chris, he's
a perfect example of what I was telling you about
why he won't be unanimous because Colin Colin said today too,
he thinks it's Russell Wilson. See, yeah, so so if
(01:39:07):
you have Russell Wilson, so you look at Seattle. Seattle
has never had rebuilding. They're just retooling. And it's because
of one person that keeps that between him and Pete
Carroll keep that team with floating people. The most valuable,
most valuable player, Russell Wilson is the most valuable player
to his team in the NFL. There's no debate about that.
(01:39:30):
Very very interesting. Nah, that's arguable and my thing robbing
And you did you used to vote for regular season
awards in any of the League's baseball. When I was
you know, when you're I was a beat writer. That
was the only that was the only league really, you know,
in the NBA early on, you know, Chris and the
old Rise. But I haven't been at I don't think
(01:39:52):
most voters look at it as most valuable. I think
they look at it as most outstanding. That's kind of
how I look at it. I'm gonna be honest, No,
I know, but everybody doesn't see it the same way.
That's the thing. Everybody looks at it different, no doubt.
Let's go to Kevin in North Carolina, North Kaka Laki.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. All right,
(01:40:14):
how are you doing today? Rob? Enjoy the show. Start
off by saying that, thank you. Uh. I think you
couldn't go wrong picking either one of them. I think
also that Lamar also landed in an ideal situation getting
drafted by the Ravens. No question, we got drafted by
(01:40:37):
the Browns or Cardinals. I mean, I think Kylin Murry
is a good example of that. I think he'd be
doing a lot better this year he wasn't playing for
the Cardinals. Yeah, I mean, it's interesting. Holmes got drafted
into a good situation too. Oh yeah, Andy Weed's grave
with quarterbacks. We know that you cann't go there much better,
but I get it. He John Hardball built the system
(01:40:59):
around Lamar, which you can argue every other coach in
the league wouldn't have done that. Rob No, I agree,
And it helped that his brother had the success with Kaepernick.
And am I right, Chris? I think that I think
that was big. All right, let's go, Chris, Let's go
to Virginia and Joseph. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio, even Fellers. How are you good? Brother?
(01:41:24):
Good good? Yeah? Well, you guys just pretty much you
hit on everything that would have I was gonna say,
I mean Lamars in that ideal situation, he had an
offensive coordinator from Kaepernick to RG three being there, he
had Flacco last year, and now he has this defense.
He's in a real good situation. But I'd have to
go with Pat Mahomes just for the simple fact that
(01:41:45):
he's going to be able to sustain this play. Aaron
Rodgers want to He won the championship straight off of
arm play. His defense didn't get hot to playoffs, right,
But the funny thing is and when you say that,
like Pat Mahome, he's the one who got hurt this year, right,
do you know what I mean? Like like we're talking
(01:42:06):
about uh and I'm not saying that, and he got
hurt initially running exactly well yeah, quarterbacks, But I'm just saying,
am I right? But he did get hurt? Right, So
it's kind of kind of weird. Oh oh, we got okay,
We're good on the calls, Chris, yep, all right. It
is the I Couple, Chris and Robb and it was
the most controversial coin toss in recent memory. Our man
(01:42:28):
Dean Blandino would tell us all about it next, but
first be sure to catch live editions of The Odd
Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven
pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the iHeart Radio app. He's our Fox Sports rules analysts,
also the host of the Good Calls podcast right here
(01:42:48):
on iHeartRadio, Dean Blandino, Dean, welcome to the I what's happening?
Not much? How are you guys doing? We are great
And obviously the big story of the weekend as far
as calls was Dallas the rams on the you know,
the opening coin toss. Yeah, I personally, when I why,
(01:43:08):
I didn't think it was that big of a deal.
I mean, I thought he made it. Dak made it
clear we want to kick off, and I thought when
he said we'll defer into the second half, he met
and we'll take the ball in the second half to start.
You know what? Am I way off? Was he in
the wrong? Did you see reason for the confusion? Well? Yeah,
(01:43:29):
I don't think you're way off, but there was definitely
some confusion. I think it starts with Dak and they
go through this. Teams will go through this with their
captains and make sure they understand, hey, this is what
we want to do. And he really needs to start
with we want to defer, and I think that was
the first issue, you know, and then the referee. You really,
as a referee, you don't want to you don't you
(01:43:50):
want to help the player not make a mistake, and
you know he doesn't want to kick off, so you
ask him again, hey, you want to kick off or
you want to defer, And I think that would have
led Dak down the right path. But it's definitely confusing
when the player doesn't say defer to start, because then
it kind of takes you down a different path, and
I think that's where the referee is a little bit
of a miscommunication. Is it me or I know it's
(01:44:12):
just the prison of the moment deem. But we've talked
way too much about officials and referees in the NFL
this year. I think it's been a bad year for
the collective group. I don't have any numbers on it,
but it just seems like it's a running dialogue. Am
I wrong? No? I don't think you're wrong. It does
feel like it does feel like we're we've been talking
(01:44:35):
about it more. And I think it's set up that
way going into the season because we had a you know,
a drastic rule change with passire, which was a mistake, right,
I think, you know, through through fifteen weeks, I think
it's hard to say that it's a success. I think,
you know, we're seeing the kind of the unintended consequences
and the vetting out process that you would hope would
(01:44:59):
happen in the off season and not during the season.
So I think it's set up to be a controversy
a year just with that that rule change alone, and
it does seem like every week, you know, there's always
going to be talking about officiating. It's usually going to
be negative. But it does feel it feels a little more,
you know, like there's more scrutiny this year than there
(01:45:21):
has been in years past. Dean, knowing the officials and
the league like you do, do you think we'll see
something different next year as far as maybe some rules
changes for next season to kind of right the ship. Well,
I definitely think they're going to take a good a
good look at this past inference rule and I'd be
surprised if there isn't some kind of a tweak or something.
(01:45:45):
It was only a one year change, so they can
just they can just let it die and uh and
not bring it back next year. But I think it
seems that, I know, it's tough to it's tough to
just when especially when you add something to replay to
pull back on it, because then you do get you know,
if we get a controversial call or a miss call
(01:46:05):
in the postseason like we had last year and no
ability to fix it, that that that's problematic as well.
But I definitely think they'll look at it and uh,
and there may be a tweak or two in terms
of how it's applied, and because I think that's been
one of the issues this season. Dean the NFL admitted
that referees Blewood at the end of that Raiders game
(01:46:26):
would a call yeah, uh, you know, Derek Carr, you know,
for them to acknowledge it after the fact, and obviously
they're not going to change the result or do anything. Well,
does it serve a purpose or to to to announce
that that it was a mistake or not. I don't don't.
I'm not so sure. Yeah, it's a good question. It's
something when I was at the league office I struggled
(01:46:47):
with at times, because you do, I think you gain
some credibility with with coaches and players and clubs and
even the fans when you admit a mistake. It's tough.
I remember twenty years go the league wouldn't admit anything.
They would just you know, go away and it'll it'll die.
But now with social media and the access that we
(01:47:09):
have to news and platforms that people have, it's tough
to just end it. And seventy in TVs with super
slow mode that we can see for ourselves right exactly,
And so you have to I think when it raises
to a certain level. I think there it's good to
acknowledge a mistake, but you have to be careful because
if you come out it's like the NBA with that
(01:47:31):
two minute report. If you come out every week and
you're saying they miss this and this and this and this,
that undermines the credibility of the officiating department and the
officials on the field, and that's not good either. So
it's a balance and you just have to try to
find that right that right balance. Hey, Chris, let me
jump in one one more follow up. Do you think
it would help? And I don't know what the procedure is.
(01:47:52):
It seems like very seldom you hear that referees are
fired or lose their jobs for not doing a good job.
But it would it be better if sometimes some way
that that some guys were thrown to the wolves, where
basically you said this, we we fired so and so
(01:48:12):
and he didn't live up to the standards or whatever,
and this way people could could maybe buy into the
whole idea that Okay, people are gonna make mistakes, but
if you make too many of them, you can't be
an official. Is that mean too mean? Or to union
wouldn't go for it, or do you know what I mean? Yeah, No,
I know exactly what you mean. And again, it's something
(01:48:34):
we talked about when I was at the league and
you know, they fired they fired an official last year
in the middle of the season and kind of and
and to me that felt it felt a little bit
of like what you're saying. It's almost like a pr
thing to see, you know, they don't do their job,
we're gonna fire them. And and so I think there
is again you have to understand that that officials have
(01:48:57):
such a tough job and if they if they go out,
if you worry about you're gonna lose your job on
any miscall, then you're you're probably not gonna do it's
good a job as you possibly can. It's a tough,
tough deal. I think, Yeah, I think when you have
turnover in the offseason, I don't have a problem with
making that public. Maybe not, you know, throwing the names
(01:49:17):
out there, and because you know these people have personalized
in families and things like that, but I do think
there is a you know, a benefit to saying, look,
there's turnover, these officials aren't performing. We let go eight
officials this offseason and we're gonna bring in eight eight
of the best in college football. So it's it's not
an easy question to answer, but I think there is again,
(01:49:40):
there there is something that can be done. Dean. One
thing that makes sense to me would be having a
quote unquote sky judge that could watch from the box
and just just going calls. Calls that that threatened the
integrity of the game. Where we saw with New Orleans
last year on the past as interference and you know,
(01:50:01):
stuff like that. Even with UH recently was in New
England when Nikil Harry was clearly in bounds on it,
you know, and they caught him out into three Just
not everything, but just things like that. What is stopping
the league from doing, you know, putting in a sky
judge like that? But I think it's going to happen,
(01:50:22):
I really do. I think a couple of things that
have that have prevented it from happening, at least right now,
is that they don't they don't feel like they have
the sixteen or seventeen people that you need to do
it every week. They have to they have to identify
those people. And I also think it's just identifying when
when that person can get involved, and we've seen obvious mistakes,
(01:50:46):
you know, official just just get screened or whatever the
thing is, whatever it is, And there's some some some
examples of where sky judge would really work. There was
a face mask in the game last night with the
Steelers and Bills that wasn't there. That would have been
a good example of where sky Judge could step in.
So I think it's gonna happen. The technology is there.
They just got to figure out the right personnel and
(01:51:09):
when that person can get involved, keep it limited. But
again to ensure the integrity of the game. I think
it's important. Hey, Dean, in the Monday night game, we
just saw it. Everybody's waiting to see Drew Brees break
the touchdown record. So he throws his five hundred and
forty and then it's called back or nullified by the reference,
(01:51:29):
you know, by some controversial call or whatever, and fans
are chanting at the game. Refe suck, you know what
I mean, Like like this is they shouldn't be the story.
It shouldn't be about them. No, And that's the that's
the worst thing. That's the one thing you don't want.
The league doesn't want it. When you're in the league office,
whether you're at nobody wants officiating to be the story.
(01:51:51):
You want that game to be played, you know, between
the lines, have the teams decide it and uh and unfortunately,
I don't know. It's just the way it is today.
Everything in the NFL is magnified, and once you get
it's like a snowball. Once you get a couple of
miscalls or a couple of weeks with some issues, it
starts to snowball, and that sort of feels like what's
been happening this season? Ding great stuff. Man. We appreciate
(01:52:15):
the time and you're honesty. Thank you very much. You
got it, guys, Take care. See you bragging rights on

Chris stopping this style? Speaking of style points, did you
see what Dallas did to the team you thought was
gonna make the playoffs? A La Rams? Did you see
what they did to them last year's Super Bowl representative
(01:54:03):
for the NFC? Did you see it? Did you see
Dak run the offense solidly? Did you see Ezekiel Elliott
and Tony Pollard run all over your La Rams? Did
you see it? I hope so, And if you didn't,
(01:54:23):
there's good news. You will get to see it next Sunday.
I told you months ago that Dallas would win this division.
I told you months ago that good and they have
struggled against Washington. Who was it before that? Miami. That's
(01:54:46):
the first game that Dallas beat a team over five hundred, Chris,
before you get on your high horse, get off your
high horse. Tonight. Did the Philadelphia? No, but they were.
I'm saying that the the Philadelphia with Dak Prescott and
Ezekiel Elliott until this Sunday or whenever they play. When
are they playing Sunday and Monday? Is that a Sunday?
(01:55:07):
That's a Sunday game. Put your money where your mouth is.
Lemon pepper wing, I'm on it. Twenty and a drink.
I don't want your shoulder. No, you could get what
you could get a bottle of water. Maybe I'll get
a strawberry Armond smoothie. How about that. That's fine. I'm tempted.
(01:55:29):
You know I'm tempted, but I'm not gonna go. Don't
go there. You better get You wouldn't better here, You
better stop you. You would be sick to your stomach
if I if you had to get me two pair
of jeans in one year, Yes, you would be. So
you better back off and you wouldn't even take it.
(01:55:49):
Why don't act like you take it? And you know me,
I'm not. I'm not fearful. No, you're not married. Yeah,
that's it. I don't have to worry about nobody coming
down on me. What are you doing giving away all
our money to that Chris Broussard, he's a millionaire already. Yeah, right, so,
but but real talk, Uh, I'm I'm I get you.
(01:56:12):
Sticking with Philly, but they they've struggled. Rob Wentz looked
pretty good though. No, they up and they just haven't
played that well. But they have Chris when they needed
to come come through. And it's been a struggle, no doubt.
They've got a lot of injuries. We know that, let's
be fair. Uh. But but Wentz looked up. He didn't
look better. He did, he did look better. But the Cowboys,
(01:56:33):
I don't know, man, if they I even said this
on first things first last week of these whichever team
makes the playoffs, and if Dallas wins, they're in. Um.
But I think Dallas would be at least have the
potential to be a dangerous playoff team. I don't think
Philadelphia could be dangerous if they got to the playoffs. No,
(01:56:55):
I can't disagree only because Dallas is more healthy, right
and I so, I don't know if you'd admit they
got I think they have better talent. YEA, certainly now,
but I think even health when the seasons started, I
love Philadelphia's talent on paper, I really did. I thought
they had a really good team. I thought they would
win the division and they've just been broken up and
and it's been a it's been a struggle. Everything's a struggle,
(01:57:17):
but you never know. Chris sometimes put it all together
and it can happen. Yeah, it's gonna be a great game.
I imagine that's the Sunday night game. It's got it. Yeah,
But I think Dallas, like I said, I wouldn't pick
I mean I did pick them to win the NFC
before the season. Right now, I certainly wouldn't think that,
(01:57:38):
but I think they could be dangerous. It'll be interesting.
If they played well and look really good against Philadelphia,
then watch out NFC because the Cowboys might be coming.
