the NBA. I mean, we got a ton to get

(01:29):

partner Rod Parker. What's up man, what's happening? Mister Chris Boushard.
I am great, how are you? What a day? What
a long day already? And we got three more hours
to go and started. Absolutely people were wondering, because we're
filling in for skipping Shannon all week, whether or not
we were doing the odd couple every day? Yes, yes

(01:51):
we will. We are here for you to the odd
couple about that. That's right, Bill, we will do it,
and we'll do it lot, no doubt about it. So
good day, Chris. After the show this morning, This morning's
TV show was fiery. It was fiery, Um, a lot
of yelling. We went but here look, and I love

(02:11):
Jason McIntyre. I've co hosted The Herd with Jack has
a radio show. Did this show with him when you
were out? We've had him in studio, he has a
radio show here at Fox Sports Radio. Here's what I
say about Jay Mack and why get so fired with him?
With him, his takes necessitate a chastening, They necessitate that

(02:33):
you correct him loudly. So jay Mack always uh, he
always feels like he's getting picked on, like he's a
little brother. Because we do come at him hard. Between
Greg Jennings, you and me, right, we're always uh doing something.
Did you get a haircut today? No? Oh no, it
looks like different from this morning. It's just it's the
lighting for radio compared to uh television. It definitely is

(02:57):
not different. Do you crack your bike and say that
this is the anniversary? This is believe it or not,
This is the thirtieth anniversary of one of the biggest
upsets in boxing history. Who knows Rob g DJ, Alex Tyshert,
any of you guys know what I'm talking about, Ralph Irvin,

(03:18):
anybody know? That would be Mike Tyson. Buster Douglas knocked
it out. Mike Tyson. I still remember. I still remember
where I was and how I felt when that happened.
I was a senior in college. I was my fraternity
was throwing a big party that night, but before the

(03:39):
fight we went over to it house. Well that was
those words. No, I wasn't drunk, though. We went over
to a guy's house and watched the fight as we
always used to do with Tyson's fights, And when Buster
Douglas knocked him out, I was literally like shocked, Yes,

(03:59):
like I was. I couldn't believe it because and the
rest of the night I was off. It's funny that
you say that, because I was a reporter at the
Daily News when that happened, and I actually talked to
Buster Douglas in Chicago. I did an interview with him,
and maybe there were two or three other reporters, but
I was leading into I don't know, after he won

(04:21):
and came back from from Japan, because you know, I
was just one of those reporters who got to talk
to him when he first came back to the States, right,
So I remember talking to him about it and everything,
and uh, it was just interesting. I remember, tremendous. It
was a shock. And the sports editor and guy did

(04:42):
a lot of boxing for us back then, was uh
the late great Vic Ziegel, who was a sports commist.
You knew Vic, and Vic was there. Nobody went, almost
nobody from the United States went to cover that fight
because they said that's a b right, so they weren't
gonna waste money. Vic happened to be like looking into
tickets and found a cheap fan for like nine hundred

(05:04):
dollars to Tokyo, and he pitched it to the paper
and he was he was like the only guy there
when it happened, so we had a big, you know
thing for the Daily News. I remember that very vividly. Yeah,
that was Tyson. I mean I thought his demise began
before that. That was his first loss. But you could
see after custom Model died and he left Kevin Rooney

(05:26):
and his other trainers, I felt like Tyson just began
throwing haymakers. Tyson was a great boxer earlier. Now he
obviously was knocking everybody out, but he bobbed and weave,
he had a jab like he was a complete boxer,
and he degenerated into just throwing haymakers, and eventually it

(05:46):
caught up with him because five or six of his
fights before that that loss, he didn't look good. He
just eventually caught the guys, Frank Bruno, Carter Truth Williams,
all those guys, and he was never the same. But
that was thirty years ago. Thirty years years ago today,
one amazing and I was in college. Let it be
for the record, I was in college. Rob Parker was

(06:08):
well deep into his career as a journalist. I didn't
I didn't interview us to Douglas thirty years ago, which
is crazy, all right, let's woke up into the old couple. Coo.
We wouldn't be able to do this fine radio program
without him. Rob g is our producer, Alex is our engineer.
Ralph Irvin is at the anchor desk. He'll keep us

(06:30):
updated throughout the program, so we'll look forward to that.
I'll intern today is Ryan and of course Elijah is
our social media guru, one of the best in the business.
And yes, Chris Brussat on this trash talking Tuesday, Yes
it is. They're all on the other side of the glass.
Let's kick some ask. Let's do just that, all right, Rob,

(06:51):
you the Los Angeles Lakers the abolished the Phoenix Suns
last night. Now, I'm not saying that's anything special, Okay,
I get it. They were supposed to demolish their sons
and sons are horrible. But you got something to say,
You got something. This shouldn't be surprising, but you have
something negative to say about the Lakers coming off of

(07:15):
that win. I can't wait to hear what in the
world you're gonna choose to rip them about it. It's
just not based on totally that win or ripping them
because they beat the Sons by twenty five or whatever.
I love the way everybody thinks that the Lakers are
like this shoe win to go to the Western Conference
Finals and they're gonna play the Clippers and it's gonna

(07:37):
be a seven game series and they might win and
go to the I'm just not there at all, Chris.
And it's because of a couple things. I said this
early on in the season, when they started what it
was it twenty three and four, rob g is that
what it was? Twenty three and four, and everybody was
ranting and raving, and oh my god, look at the
Lakers and they weren't beating anybody. And I was like,

(08:00):
what is Lebron James doing? What is he what is
he getting crazy for trying to prove something. I was like, dude,
you're in year seventeen. It ain't about the regular season.
It ain't about having this great record. It's about the
postseason and a chance to win a championship. And now
here we go, all of a sudden, Lebron James is

(08:24):
in a slump. I know, last night wasn't that great.
They won, it was easy, but Lebron is averaging twenty
one point eight points forty four percent shooting and five
turnovers the game, and the Lakers are four and two.
This is in those last six games. Both of those
losses came at home, so they were in the mini slump.

(08:47):
And this is all since Kobe died. Remember he was
saying like he had big shoulders, broad shoulders to shoulder
the thing. And I'm just looking at this team since
that start. And you remember they played the Bucks. They
both had the identical records. Bucks beat them or whatever.
Ever since then, they're like sixteen and nine. Okay, I

(09:08):
knew they were gonna win at that clip, that they
will running. But they've come back to earth. Their record
is five and six against the top four teams in
both conferences. That's not great, right. So I'm here. I'm
here to say that I'm not so convinced that they're
that they're going to be in the Western Conference finals.

(09:29):
And again I will say right here, right now, Chris,
that I believe that their championship frauds. I don't see
them getting there beating First of all, they're not going
to beat the Clippers, no matter if it's a second
round or in the conference final. But I really I'm
not even positive that they will be as one a

(09:50):
unit that for sure is going to beat the team
in the second round, and for sure it's going to
get to the Western Conference Final. So let me ask,
just for clarification's sake, if, if, if the Lakers are
championship frauds, Am I correct in assuming that you think
there are only two teams in the NBA who are

(10:10):
not championship frauds? Absolutely? Okay, I do want to think
the Clippers in the Bucks. Those are the two teams
I think that having a real realistic chance of winning
the champions Lakers don't even have those salistic chances. I
don't believe Chris I get the regular season wins, and
there's a lot of bad teams in the NBA. And
I'm not knocking him for winning those games they're in

(10:31):
front of them. But from what I've seen, the inconsistency,
the dog that the fight, how about a d and
his fourth quarters you've given You've given us all the numbers,
they're ugly. You will not win a championship with Ad
putting out those numbers Chris in the fourth quarter. He's
going to have to be one of those elite players

(10:54):
to make this thing work. I'm not I'm not I'm
not there. I'm not sure it's on him though. I'm
not there on I even playing him six minutes a
game in the fourth quarter. I'm just saying, and when
he's playing, he's not doing much. I'm not there with
Kyle Kuzma. Uh. He's made some adjustments, Chris, but not enough.
They need him to be a different type of players

(11:15):
than he has been. Maybe he gets it after the
All Star break and it changes and he accepts his
role and he starts to play winning basketball, not chuck
up basketball. Maybe maybe I'll be wrong and he'll develop
and he'll give him that that that piece. But I'm
not convinced that the Lakers are who most people thought
they were, which was they're going to the NBA Championship

(11:37):
and they're gonna they're gonna take out anybody once they
had two of the three top players in the NBA,
that they were going to be there. Well, first of all,
rib I think you will admit this, most people had
the Clippers better than the Lakers. Don't you think preseason
most now it was there are a number of people

(11:58):
would include me initially right they had the Lakers. There
was I think people view the Clippers as slightly better,
and I think as time has gone on, they are
better and they've gotten better. And they're not even all
the way there, Chris, And that's the part that I'm saying.
There will be more time for them to gel and
the second half of the season. Everybody could pooh pooh

(12:22):
Marcus Morris or whatever you want. I love to pick up.
He fits with them like a glove. He's a nice pickup.
They didn't have to wreck what they already had, their
their their core. They didn't have to give up anybody
like that to make it happen. I just love what
I see from them seventeen and five when Kawhi and
Paul Georgia playing, that's a nice record I like. I

(12:43):
like the Clippers a lot, and I'm not so sure
or sold on the Lakers. So I'm gonna say right
now they could get knocked out in the second round
and not even make it to the Western Conference. The
Lakers are not championship frauds Now. I do think the
Clippers are slightly better. I do think that Slippers should
be the favorite in the West, but there's no way

(13:04):
the Lakers are championship frost. They have a shot. There
is a path for them to beat the Clippers and
get to the West to the NBA Finals. And before
I say that, there is nobody, not Memphis, not Oklahoma City,
not Denver, not Utah, and not Houston that can beat

(13:28):
the LA Lakers. The only team in the West that
can beat the Lakers is the Clippers. And it's close.
I'm not buying that. I think they could be had.
If they're not right, We're already seeing them wear down
a little bit. All right, here's where I think, because
you're right. The last three games. I mentioned this on
on Undisputed this morning. Last three games, he's averaged seven

(13:50):
turnovers a game. He's shooting forty percent from the floor,
averaging nineteen points. I personally, this is speculation. Personally, I
think he's still a bit shook by Kobe Bryant's pass.
And that could be fair. I'm not I'm not even
gonna poo poo it. It could be fair when when
when you're a guy of that caliber and you have

(14:11):
a friendship or you know what I mean, Uh uh,
what's friends a fraternity? When you played it, only a
certain amount of people get to be a professional beyond
that there's a fraternity that's there. This is beyond the
fraternity of being a professional basketball player or a professional athlete.

(14:33):
There's another fraternity, as you know, and that's super duper Star.
This isn't even Hall of Fame, right, We're talking about
the elite of the Hall of Fame. And most people
felt like obviously we knew at some time everybody dies, okay,
but there was this feeling that Kobe's immortal. Skip said

(14:55):
it on the show Skip Bayless the day after. I
just felt, there's no way Kobe' he's gonna conquer that
helicopter crash or whatever, he's gonna get up. He was
the one to make it. He would make it out.
And Lebron James is on that level. I'm sure Kobe
felt like he was immortal. I'm sure Lebron James felt

(15:16):
like he was immortal, and now he probably has had
to deal with his mortality. I agree with that, So
I think it might be. I think that happens to
a lot of people, especially Chris, when somebody close to
you or friend, when you see somebody die, you go wow,
like you know, like like we were just cool yesterday,

(15:36):
last week, I saw him or whatever. And he's gone.
It was all good just a week ago exactly, and
he's gone, and you realize how fragile life is. Right,
So I think that's what's happening, and Lebron everybody's jumping on.
He's averaging thirty four and a half minutes a game.
This is the lowest of his career. Okay, let's not
let the fact that Kawhi Leonard sits out once every

(15:58):
two weeks, and that's really what it is make us
misjudge other players. Minutes thirty Rob Rob, you covered the
league when the bad Boy Pistons Michael Jordan. They were
routinely playing forty minutes a night. Thirty four minutes is fine.
So I look, if he wears down, it's just he's

(16:20):
thirty five years old, he's his seventeen season. It was
bound to happen. But I don't think because he's gone
too hard too early. All right, we open it up
to you. Eight seven seven ninety nine on fix eight
seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Are
the Lakers a lock to at least make the Western
Conference Finals? I'd say they are. The only way they

(16:40):
don't is if they meet the Clippers. In the second round.
And I'm not saying the Clippers all one hundred percent
sure to beat them, but I think they'd be the favorites.
But do you think somebody else in the West could
take down the Mighty Lakers? Are they championship frauds? To
quote my partner Roy Parker, You'll turn the way in
eight seven ninety nine on Fox A couple Fox Sports Radio.

(17:03):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox sports
Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search f
s R to listen live. It's the couple Christ and Rob.
Look at the DJ Alex Tyser is proud of himself. Boy,
look at you smiling ear to ear? Can you take

(17:24):
a guess what I sampled this for? I at this baseline,
does I have heard it? It's from the eighties early eighties.
I grabbed from like the Thriller vibe for this one.
This is this is from the Thriller album. It's not
from it, but I made the kind of like vibe
the same thing. This is hot. What's the same? Oh,

(17:44):
it's all fresh. I like, I just grabbed stuff and
molded myself. Didn't yea, so it is not a sample
that's dope though. I like that it sounds more like
eighties dance music to me. I wanted to take Rob
back to his like college years. Oh yeah, right, right, wedding.
I think this was right whatever, it's the I couple, Chris,
I didn't get married into law the night in late nineties,

(18:04):
late nineties? All right? Do you own a rent your home?
Sure you do. Fortunately, Geico makes it easy to bundle
your home, and auto insurance is a good thing too,
because having a home is hard work. Go to Geico
dot com, get a quote and see how much you
could say if Geico dot com, it's easy. Let's get
right to the cause a Lakers championship frauds. You'll turn
away in Let's go to Sheldon in Utah. Sheldon, you're

(18:28):
on with Chris and Rob. Hey, thanks guys, love the show.
I appreciate the entertainment. Thank you, and Rob. I want
to give you some ammunition for your argument here because
I do believe they are frauds. A big detail that
nobody talks about. Love it, let's hear it. Yeah, the
detail nobody talks about is the travel schedule and the

(18:49):
Lakers have this year, the easiest travel schedule, the lowest
miles traveled of any team. You'll never guess who's number two.
It's the Clippers. The NBA wants these two teams rested
for the playoffs. So you think, Sheldon, you think the
Jazz is better than either of these two teams? No? No, okay,

(19:09):
just okay, all right, No, that's good. Who's beating the Lakers?
You know, last? Other than the Clippers? Uh? Man, Like
Denver has a good deep team, but I don't know
if they're equipped for it. They're not. Honestly, feel like
it's gonna be the Clippers that does it. But I
don't think this Lakers team is as good as advertising.
I'm with you, appreciate, thank you so much. What about

(19:33):
Eric in Oregon? You on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up? Eric? How doing great? Yeah? Yeah?
All right, man, we we've we've covered this. What three
premutations in your field? The Lakers, it's it's championship. It's
not even a lock for the weapon you're Eric. We

(19:53):
can keep going because your phone's cutting in and out.
Let's go to Mark and Sacramento. Mark you on with
Chris and Robb what's going on, gentlemen? What? Uh? First
of all, I've enjoyed you Chris and your colleagues there.
You guys been beating up on my poor friend Rob
for the last couple of mornings. Man, he exasperates me

(20:16):
so much, even more so than on this ship and
mark its three against one. I gotta fight them off
for the stick he's getting down. I give you that, Rob.
I give you that. Rob. You've been fighting them pretty good.
I give you that. Your arguments are baseless, but fighting
quick it real quick. This is back to my point.
I've said this to you guys a couple of times.

(20:38):
It's who they play and not because they're not gonna
beat Denver or Utah. What is it gonna take out
of them to fight those guys? And who will get hurt?
And if you guys don't realize that these Western Conference
playoffs every year, whether it be the Warriors, okay, she you,
somebody gets hurt and he fights trying to get through
the West. Every year, will the Clippers and Leakers have

(20:59):
an injury or Willie gets something kicking out of them
and the Lakers maybe the team I'm talking about because
they're the older team. Well, when we're talking about obviously, obviously,
injuries have decided NBA finals, including Lashers, and I take
nothing away from the Raptors, but look, I would argue,
certainly the Clippers are at a threat to get hurt.

(21:21):
Lebron's in his seventeenth year, ADS had his injury issues.
So many other guys are old, but the Clippers are
as well. I mean, we know about Kauai and his
gimpie knee, Paul George has has several injuries. I mean,
they're in danger of getting injured just as much as
the Lakers. We also know that Anthony Davis's uh cotton candy,

(21:42):
he gets hurt a lot. And Lebron year seventeen. I
just love that. But don't act like the Clippers can't,
all right? Is Lebron starting to regret pushing so hard
to start the season. Our man Brad Turner from the
La Times has the answer. Next, but first, sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard

(22:03):
and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
We're coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio Studios. It is easy to say fifteen percent of
more on your car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico
dot com or call eight hundred nine four seven Auto.
The only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.

(22:24):
Good friend of ours does a fantastic job covering the
LA Lakers for the Los Angeles Time. It's our man,
Brad Turner. Brad, what's happening? Runs up? Brad? Chris Bruce Sard?
Rob fucker? What did? What's going on? What is up? So? Brad?
You're about to do some local TV? What the Spectrum

(22:45):
Sports Net? Yeah? Well six thirty tonight. All right, I
got a hot take for you. You You want to tell
you want to be on the show again or not?
For you guys to remember they paid We're not going.
Oh that's to Rob ge Wow, we got nothing to

(23:08):
do with that. We got nothing to do with that. Well,
here's here's your hot take. Uh tell them that you
the way Lebron's playing, maybe burnt himself out early on,
you know, with all that trying to prove something. I'm
struggling lately, but I don't believe that the Lakers are
locked to get to the Western Conference Finals. They got

(23:28):
some issues that I'm not. I'm concerned with playing the
good teams, Brad. They got a record under five hundred
against them, four best teams. They haven't beaten the Clippers yet.
There's a couple of things there. Where are you on
the Lakers? Are they? Are they on schedule, off schedule
or need to improve? Where are they? You make a
good point, a very good point. But I think the

(23:49):
other nine, the Clippers, which we think is the best
team in the NBA, got smash in Minnesota? Did they not? Yes?
All right? So what saying is you play eighty two
games doing a regular season, you have your ups and downs,
your loans. I think the Lakers are going through a
little bit of a loan right now. There's five in

(24:10):
the last eleven games, and they haven't played their best
basketball by no stretch imagination. Kyled Kuzmug got caught up
in the will I be traded? Will I not be traded?
The All Star Game is coming up? You got a
break coming up where she would put out best foot forward.
Every team goes through this, and there's no doubt the

(24:30):
Lakers are going through it right now and it's tough
for them. But they get a week off and after
the All Star break, if they continue and the same
let's just say a little funk thing in, then they
could be problems. But I don't foresee that. I think
that once they get some rest and once, as you
keep trying to indicate, Lebron take some time off, he'll

(24:52):
get some time off after the break, and then they'll
come back rested, ready to play. Then I'll be more
clear about what they can do and what they will became. Brad,
I believe that for the I think the Lakers have
a chance to win it all, but I do think
the Clippers are slightly better and should be the favorite
in that matchup or favorite in the West. And I've

(25:13):
said if they meet in the playoffs, Anthony Davis has
to beat go berserk because I don't think they have
a matchup for him. And at this stage, you know,
Lebron's gonna do his thing, but he's not gonna out
play Kauai by any dramatic you know. Margin So Anthony
Davis has got to dominate whatever his matchup is. And look,

(25:35):
I came across the statistic that blew my mind, and
we've been talking about it on TV. In the fourth quarters,
Anthony Davis is averaging five and a half minutes a game.
He's not even playing half the fourth quarter, and he's
average and fewer than three points in the fourth quarter
and fewer than three shots in the fourth quarter. And

(25:55):
I can't say, we can't say it's because they've been
blowing teams out, because Lebron's minute are like nine in
the fourth quarter and seven points, and he leads the
league in fourth quarter shots. Why aren't they going to
Anthony Davis Moore in the fourth quarters. And that's a
really good stat especially the minutes. Now, I haven't know
him about the minutes, and as far as the shots,

(26:18):
I think teams are starting to kind of catch it
to what they're doing, and so they're dealt with teaming
him a little bit more. And the Lakers all offense
becomes stagnated in the fourth quarter, becomes a little bit
too much with the Brian, probably the defense of the
Brian looking forward the best action instead of moving the
ball cutting. But you know Lebron, most of you guys do.

(26:41):
That's been the way he's played the game his entire career.
He's been great at it. But in order to get
a d off and to get him more shots, more minutes.
One thing about but only told me when he watched
him players. When Ady gets up in the block, he
just gets it there and he turns and he shoots
or makes a move. He gets in the block again,
he turned his shoes and makes a move. He doesn't

(27:03):
move across the lane. He becomes a stationary figure. And
if you're stationary, that allows teams to double team. That
allows teams are locking on just what he's doing all
the time because they don't move him from side to
side in the middle of the lane. They don't say
screen on my actions. If they're doing actions, then somehow
there's not been executed to perfect him. And that's what

(27:26):
they need to do. I mean, he has to be
more active as well, and that hasn't happened lately in games.
Because five minutes the game, man, wow, that yeah, that
blew me away. Man, mind blowing. It's Brad Turner from
the La Times joining the Odd Couple. Hey Brad, will
we know that the Lakers and Clippers are both interested
in uh Marcus Morris. The Clippers one out, but I

(27:49):
heard two different things. I heard that they just didn't
want to part with h Danny Green and Kyle Kuzman
for him. But then I heard that they did offer
that package to the Knick. The Knicks turn the downs
that took the Clippers package, which one is accurate is
did they did they offer Kyle Kuzma and and Danny Green.
It is my understanding that Kyle kuz Danny Green things

(28:12):
did come up in the Lakers wire interrested it and perhaps, okay,
let's think about that. But the Knicks also wanted a
draft pick, so that in turn made the Lakers hesitant.
So it wasn't Danny Green being included. It was the
drive pick. They didn't want to give up, all right,
and they knew it would only to be a second
round pick, right, They didn't really the Knicks did not

(28:33):
really want Danny Green. They wanted to move him on
to another team. And so because they was hesitant to
do that, they were asking the Lakers, can you help
to supper take moving him to a third team. Well,
if that takes a bit more worse, So the next
proposal that comes from the Knicks ass okay, how about
Avia Brawley, Kyle Kuzma, the Marcus Cousins and a second

(28:56):
round pick. Well, the Lakers said no to that bit
because they felt that just too much to move. So
the next thing, you know, the Clipper scoop in and
give the Knicks a first Song picks and expire contract
in more Harkers and they also have I think another
second long pick in the future. So they just shipped
in there. That made the Clippers. You said slightly better

(29:19):
than the Lakers, where I thought in the first two games,
based on having talked to scouts the Clippers, but slightly
better than the Lakers. Now when I say they are
get simply better than the Lakers, I agree with that.
That's a good pickup and he's a good fit to
the like Clippers. Is he? Oh great? Are you kidding me?
The guy average las nineteen points a game in New York.
But not only he shoots the ball well. But how

(29:40):
about there, you got no dude is tough. He don't
back down to new body, and in the NBA you
need tough guys like sad They've got Pat Beverley where
I would say he's even tougher than Pat bow Wow
wow Lebron. The last three games, he's averaged seven turnovers
the game, nineteen points on like shooting. All this months,

(30:03):
he's been struck, you know, not playing up to Lebron
James standards. He had the one good game against San Antonio.
Everything else has kind of been a little bit below
his standards. I think he's still and this is pure speculation, Brad,
but I think he's still kind of a little bit
in mourning, you know, and a little bit shook by
the whole Kobe situation. Um, he obviously took a lot

(30:25):
of that on his own shoulders. Do you think that
is still weighing heavily on Lebron and effecting his play
or maybe he's just a little bit worn down and
looking toward the All Star Breaking that's why his productions
a little off. You know, that's a very good question, Chris.
You know, haven't been around the team, and having been
around Kobe and knowing how people feel about him, I

(30:47):
think he's warned the team to hold the entire team
Downstun went with the team to Sucker Middle and they
had a dutiful boot for him. They came back home
and they played a really good They lose another game
to Houston, and then they go up to Golden State
and they have another way tribute to Kobe Bryant because
the Warriors were the last team to have a home
game since Kobe's death. So all those students you see

(31:11):
on the video over the people talking to you about it,
I mean it metic. I went to my addentit this
morning just to get a cleaning, and the ladies says
to me, I'm so sorry to hear about Kobe Bryant.
I'm sitting there thinking, wow, man, this is They started
to get to me a little bit because I just
I'm moving on. So imagine if you play for the
Lakers and you hear everywhere you go, that's a heavy weight.

(31:34):
It's so heavy that Lebron James and after the Davis
decided to get tattoos of Kobe Bryant, that as an
everyday reminder of what Kobe meant to both of them.
You can't get away from it. And obviously they don't
want it to get away from them. They wanted to
use as motivation. But life has a way of just
knocking you in different directions, and right now I kind

(31:57):
of think that dealing with that is hard. And hear
for all of them. You put on uniforms and it
has Kobe's decoalt two full on it right, it's never
going to go away, all right, great stuff, It's Brad
Turner La times. Great stuff, my man. I appreciate you. Guys.
I'm going on sports and I'm about to get paid
very nice. And finally you could take me out to dinner.

(32:20):
Since we moved to were still saying that we're waiting
for that man. What's up? Man? You got out kind
that's all right. Last time you and I went out
to eat, it was Mama's soul food or something Angie something.
And with all that money you was that you know
what I'm talking about what it was. And with all

(32:42):
that money you went making, Brad, I want all white
meat and the extra biscuit, all right, Brad peace brothers.
All right, guys. Later we may have found someone in
sports who hates his boss even more than you do.
We play. Next is The Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio.

to weigh in, call in and trash anyone or anything
in the world of sports, include either one of us
if you want so. I don't think so. We've been
working double duty. I think we're working hard, right, Chris,
come on, I think they'll give us a lot, Alex.
You know a hard worker. I am, and Chris is

(33:45):
a hard worker as well. Sometimes Rob, I'd say, if
anybody was to work less, it would be unpossible. That's
what I'm saying. Oh you know how I keep it going? Wow,
because you're working a lot. Now. Yes, I'm working hard. Yeah,
hard for my money? All right? Rob said he would,
he would, he would. Trust I'm gonna trash you guys later.
Major League Baseball, Uh, you know, we talked about it yesterday,

(34:08):
the story that Joel Sherman broke about changing the playoff
some things in the playoffs in baseball go into Rather
than ten teams, making it five in each league, it
would be fourteen seven in each league. Uh. And then
the number one thing, pick right, number one season would

(34:28):
get going, and then the other teams get to pick
you want to play and Trevor Bauer Uh, did not
like it, to say the least. Here's what he's said, Rob,
that's right, he said on Twitter. No idea who made
this new playoff format proposal, but Rob is responsible for
releasing it. So I'll direct this to you, Rob Manfred.

(34:50):
Your proposal is absurd for too many reasons to type
on Twitter and proves you have absolutely no clue about baseball.
You are a joke. Why I'm talking about commission Baseball.
That's who he is. Wow, and uh, that is pretty strong.
I mean that's no respect. And you know the best

(35:12):
thing is Trevor Bauer didn't ask Alex for that. You know,
like it takes it to mission when you have to
take it. If you if you're making your points and
you're saying your thing, Alex already knows. Like I never
have to direct him. He knows when I've said something right.
Never get Mike job, because I can't even remember the
last time you have. I don't have to do a
mic drop. But he knows when I'm wanted. He put,

(35:34):
he plays the music. I don't have to cricket. I
don't have to. I don't have to prompt him for
you to feel good about yourself, to give you some warning.
You know, I don't you know it's coming. I already
know what's going on because I can say Mike drop
and he don't drop it. So when I say Mike drop,
it's appropriate. Sometimes sometimes I get it. I'm working on

(35:54):
the show with Rob G. We're trying to fix like
what Chris is doing, and we're texting. I'm telling you, Chris,
you know, needs to do this or do that, and
Rob G will be like, yeah, I know, just hanging there,
do what you gotta do. Look, yeah, that's exactly what
I'm doing, Craig Melby. But I look, I think and

(36:16):
again speculation. I think what Trevor Bauer is talking about
is the notion that you would actually get to pick
your opponent in the playoffs. I don't think he has
a problem, or certainly not that type of problem, like
there's another wrong with proposing more playoff teams making I
would find it hard to believe that Trevor Bauer had

(36:38):
this type of response to the potential increase of two
playoff teams in each league, and I have no problem
with it. What I do think, though, is absurd. I
think it's bush league. I think it's playground I think
it's saying lot picking your opponent, and what if we

(36:59):
ridiculous professional baseball? And what have we talked about? Chris,
You can criticize baseball for a lot of things. I
don't hear people complaining about the playoff system or at all,
like people the playoffs are good, right right, and I think,
but I'm saying, like really like their things to fix.
But I'm not sure if that's the that should be

(37:21):
top on. Will you admit this though? The one now,
it's thrilling, it's great, but the one game playoff that's
kind of rough. It is baseball one hundred sixty two
games comes down to one. But what I like about
it is you're not Before wild card teams were winning
the World Series and almost like had had not an advantage,

(37:45):
but they shouldn't have any advantage, Like you didn't win
your division, you got it, you got a chance. I
love the way they made the two wild cards play
each other, Chris. Before it wasn't like that it was
one wild card, they were playing a division winner. I
don't think that's fair. So you got the two wild cuts.
Only one wild card team can be in the mix

(38:05):
on any from each league and I thought that that
was what if you made that a three game series,
I would I honestly don't have a problem with fur.
But but you don't have. You you very seldom have
the single elimination game, which is fun. It is and thrilling,
and you get people to watch that because one game,

(38:25):
everybody's like, I want to see wins this, but I don't.
I don't blame baseball for one. Look, the playoffs is
our best time of the year. Let's expand it because
it's still gonna Look, if they do do this, they
gotta get rid of the picking your own opponent. I mean,
I can't imagine they'll do that unless they just expand it.

(38:47):
Don't you think it'll be great? Honestly, I know you
you philisophic against it, but it's gonna be excited only
because I just don't want it, because I know what's
gonna happen. If they do that, then it'll go to sixteen,
you know what I mean, Christian, because you get because
you get great. Then there is a threshold might be
too many. Yeah, like the NBA with the seven game series,

(39:08):
as like, I don't have a problem with you, now
seven games. Everybody here is the problem five games, you'd
have too many upsets? Is he? You know? I Couple

it'll be great to have him on. And I covered

Charles real well. I like him a lot. I've never

(40:35):
sixty eight on The Graham all Right, we're gonna update
the great, really good game taking place in Philadelphia. The
seventy Sixers are playing the Clippers, and the Clippers have
trailed most of the night. They're currently up forty five
forty four with three and a half minutes left in
the first half. The Sixers who've been struggling, it's particularly

(41:00):
on the road. Now they're at home tonight and they've
played well at home, but they've been struggling overall. A
lot of talk about Mbing and Simmons in their chemistry.
They benched for lack of a better turn because I
don't think they're you know, they're mad with the guy.
But they bitched Al Horford and fur kind Cork Moss.

(41:20):
I think that's how you say it. But three point
sniper they put in the starting lineup, and obviously it's
to stretch the floor, open things up inside a little
more because Cork Miles is a great three point shooter,
and so it looked like it was working early. We'll
see if they can pull this game off. Be a
great win for them at a time when they really
could use one. Also quickly robbed. I was just looking

(41:44):
on the bottom line, and it said that Manny Paciau
has signed with Paradigm Sports Management, which also represents Connor McGregor,
and that the two have indeed discussed the fight. Your
thoughts hunt all right, you got chicken in his hand,

(42:08):
chicken in the right hand, coking the other press. It's
been a long day, you know. I've been working all day.
I had to grab some so I didn't even mean
to catch you off guard. You did, I you was
saying it, and then I would be able to jump
in just quickly stay here. I don't know. I don't Connor.
He would not Connor out in two rounds. I don't

(42:28):
think I would pay for that. I would go to
your house to watch it. I would pay for it.
I put it on the company, but I pay for
it because I gotta watch it for this. But I'd
be I'd be interested. Look for Connor. It'd be a
huge paid day. And so what he has to decide
do I want money or do I really want a
legacy in MMA. If you want the legacy, stay in

(42:50):
MUA where you wanted the greats of all time. If
you want money, go to boxing and get floored. But
you'll get tons of money, all right. And this is
the other thing too, when you were talking about the
seventy sixers. I know they're at home tonight, but when
you told me to stat that they have the same
world record as the Knicks, I thought to myself that
that's pretty bad, pathetic, that's pretty bad for that team

(43:12):
and that amount of talent. And Horford just has him
fit in, has he Well, he's all right, you know.
I mean one of the reasons you bring him in
for defense. Their defense is strong, and you also hope
that he can, you know, improve your locker room. But
the thing about how he's a great professional, I mean,

(43:33):
any team would love to have him, but he's and
he's a strong guy, but you know, he's not an
overwhelming personality. And you know you saw it in Boston
last year. He was there, but he couldn't control the
locker room. And now even you got even two even
more violatile personalities in Simmons, right, the Eagles in Simmons

(43:56):
and ebid So yeah, you know, he can't control the
locker room, but it is what it is. All right.
Let's move to the NFL. ROB and a guy that
I really like, a guy that I'm just gonna put
it out there. He's a very good football player. And
I say that that way for a reason. He's a
very good football player. He's a tight end, he's a

(44:20):
wide receiver, he's on special teams, and occasionally he quarterbacks.
But some people are getting way ahead of themselves and
he's not one of them. But this is what sparked it,
his own comments, and I'm talking about Taysom Hill, the

(44:41):
do it all utility man, Swiss army knife for the
New Orleans Saints. Here's what he said. I definitely view
myself as a franchise quarterback. Do I want to leave?
The fact of the matter is no, I don't. But
you know I want to play quarterback in this league.
And if New Orleans don't view me that way, well
then I have to leave. All right, all right, there's

(45:04):
your bus ticket. I mean, what really is that going
that hard? I know, but I mean, well, they don't
view me that way, then I'm out of here. Well,
I mean it's a guy who's had some pretty good
success Chris As as a quarterback, not just a cup
of coffee in the sweet roll for five games with
the Saints, right, but in Minnesota as well. So I'm

(45:26):
not Teddy Bridgewater. Hello? Is this all? Does he count
Teddy Bridge water or no? People are overlooking Bridge. I
think that's unfair. I agree. Look like I said, he's
a very good football player. You know how many passes
Taysom Hill his throne in his NFL career. You want

(45:49):
to take a guess, I'll say ten more than me
in the NFL? Close? Is that what it is? Thirteen passes?
He threw six this sea. When Drew Brees was out
for five games, he threw one. Now, I have no
problem with Taysom, with Taysom Hill saying I want to

(46:10):
be a franchise quarterback, My problem is with everybody else
who's Some people are already putting him ahead of Lamar Jackson.
I'll stop it. Most notably the Saints special team's quarterback
Mike Westhoff. He said he's a better thrower than Lamar Jackson.

(46:30):
Can we stop it? Can we stop it. We haven't
seen him through. You can talk about practice all you
one being in the game, you know, don't disrespect Lamar
Jackson like that. You can say, look, I see the
guy in practice. Believe me, he can throw the football.
But when you've only thrown thirteen passes in your entire

(46:54):
n NFL career, don't you dare disrespect the guy that
not only won the MVP unanimously, but who led the
league in touchdowns Rob thirty six touch ups. It's not
like he did it all running. And I'm not saying
Lamar throws it like Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, anybody like that.
He's got work to do. But you're gonna tell me

(47:15):
a third string quarterback throws it better then Lamar Jackson.
And if he does, show Lamar some respect. Ron Jiwarski
on Line one says Hill's the greatest quart because has
a chance to be the greatest quarterback of all time.
Why are you this d I was like Rob, I
was mad that I didn't use that on you this morning.

(47:38):
And one of the one of our topics we're talking
about homes Yeah about to be about being about being premature,
because that's what that's what that's what ron Jiwarski's was,
but didn't accomplish quarter. But I'm just talking about what
he did in the beginning, Chris, we had not seen anybody.
He went for two hundred yards against against the package

(47:59):
in the playoffs like this. No, it was and everybody
was going crazy. They went to the NFC Championship game
three years and went to a Super Bows. I mean, uh,
Kaepernick was unconventional my homes. It does something. But I'm
just saying passes the football. No. But what I'm saying
is at the time, and I don't want to get

(48:20):
off track, but at the time, believe I will demolish
you again. You will get it a few hours though,
you did TV unbelievable. You know I did. My point though,
is I think this is a little premature from mister Hill.
And if I am the UH Saints, I'm not. I

(48:44):
will sign Teddy Bridgewater. I will part ways with Drew Brees.
I know you still like, yes, wow, I would, Chris.
I'd rather be a year early than a year late.
And I just I'm telling you, if you're honest with
Drew Brees and what he's done. I had the numbers
this morning ten touchdown six picks his last three postseasons.

(49:04):
They just haven't been He hasn't been that. He hasn't
been that guy. And I just think at forty one
you have a guy. You know. Your big thing about
the Brady is that the Patriots don't have anybody, right,
they got somebody and Teddy Bridgewater if they want to
sign him, Chris, that's the difference. Would you agree with that, well,
that there was somebody there or had success with the
team that you haven't place he was five and old.

(49:26):
I agree with you to a point. They do have
a viable replacement who's already played with the team, and
they coming somebody who's new. However, he's not a replacement.
He's not your You don't know if he and I
like Bridgewater, but you don't know that he's your guy
for the next ten years. When we talk about the
other greats who've been replaced Peyton Manning, they knew Andrew

(49:50):
luck was their guy. I mean, obviously retired, but that
that's unforeseen. He was a guy you could say next
fifteen years, we got our quarterback. Same with Joe Mint
and you ask Steve Young, same with Brett Farve. You
had Aaron Rodgers. I don't know if Bridge waters that guy.
That's why I say I agree with you to a point.
But here's my thing on Bridge A Bridge though too

(50:11):
christ and no, no, I like him. But what I'm
saying is why I would this is what I would do.
I would say to Drew, Look, we we we feel
good about Teddy. Obviously we played well when you were
out and he was our but we we think you

(50:31):
still got it and we want to go one more year.
So you want to be like when you're at the
end of your lease on your apartment, you're not sure
if you want to renew it, you go month a month.
I'm sure I want to renew him for a year,
one season, not month to month. At your age forty,
when I say the same thing for Tom Brady at
that age, you can't expect a multi year contract. I'm

(50:52):
sorry you. We give you one more year, Drew, and
then I would tell Teddy, look, we're going with Drew
one more year. After that, it's you. He's only twenty
seven years old. He did it before he could have
went to Miami and been the starter. He was fine
going to New Orleans and backing up Breezes because he
knew eventually he would get the keys to the car.

(51:14):
And here's the thing with Drew Brees, Rob. He averaged
two hundred and seventy one yards a game last year.
He threw twenty seven touchdowns in eleven games. If I'm
not mistaken, that's more than Mahomes. Rob, g check it
real quick. I think Mahomes had twenty six touchdowns last
year in twelve games. Breeze had twenty seven and eleven games,

(51:37):
and he only threw four picks. I get it. He
wasn't that great in the playoffs, Alight, that's all right,
But I'm regular season he led the league in completion,
give you that. But I would give it one more
year with Breeze and then I would hand the keys
to Bridgewater. But I'm gonna say this, If New England

(51:59):
lose this, Brady Rob and I don't think they will.
You do, I don't think they will. If I'm New England,
I'm I'm pointing at Teddy Bridgewater. I'm going for him,
And now I don't know. I'm not offering him some
enormous contract for the next five years. No, but if
I could get him for three years, I'm saying as
a bridge and then you go draft a quarterback and
you might be a guy like you know, he's got

(52:20):
a lot of qualities that you could see working in
New England. Well right, and well we've already seen him
as a as a as a starter and had some success.
So it ain't like if he's successful, it wouldn't you know,
like you you're not like like you're taking a big
step out on the two and twelve as a start
career any average people. This year he went five and

(52:43):
over with the Saints. They started him out slowly, you know,
not throwing the ball too much, not throwing you know,
longer passes. Last three games he started, he averaged two
hundred and seventy some nine yards two hundred and seventy
eight yards a game in the last three. So you know,
Teddy Bridgewater showed that he could play. We know he's cerebral,

(53:03):
we know he's an intelligent player, and playing around him,
I do know that he's a leader. He's got what
Rod Parker doesn't like to admit because everybody, you think, everybody,
I don't like they walking around with everybody has no
mahomes has him. Lamar Jackson Teddy Bridgewater, Deshaun Watson, any

(53:23):
white guys haven't. Yeah, Brady Brady has him. I'm shaking
on the Errand I think Aaron would have more rings
if he had more of those intangibles. Aaron Rodgers uh
or for tight end, wouldn't us Uh. There are many
a guy guys that have the intend I think Garoppolo
actually has him, I really do. I mean he's a

(53:45):
leader in that in that team, and those guys like him,
and you just look at his record and how he
turned that team around. So should the Saints want Taysom

you know what, But go ahead, Joe. We're gonna send
out and turn home for that, all right, Go home, Ryan,
go home, all right. Taysom Hill has thirteen career passes.

(55:34):
We're talking to me in Tampa Bay. Whether relations to
Jamis Winston or not. And Taysom Hill has the gal
to say either a franchise quarterback after thirteen career passes
and Drew Brees. He just they barely missed the Super
Bowl two years ago. Three years ago, they almost beat
the Vikings off up for the miracle play in Minneapolis

(55:56):
that day. All right, If anything, they need to stick
with Teddy. But for now they had Breeze And there's
not even thank you, thank you that that is a
stronger And part of it, Rob is people are running
with the Lamar Jackson thing because he was successful. Oh
you know, now running quarterback can work. First of all,
he runs it well, he ain't Lamar Jackson, right, So

(56:20):
that's number one. And just because it worked there and
then like looks like it crazy, it's not gonna work
for everybody. There's not. Everybody's not gonna be. You could
try to copy We know that that pro sports is
as all copycat. Right, something works, Chris, then then somebody
else is gonna try it to see if it works.
So I get that part, but I'm with you. I
just don't think he's dead. Thanks for the call, Joe,

(56:40):
And we had Braddy Brady Pepino and with us undisputed
that he just was fawning over Takes the Hill, But
I said, well, look remember dollars. Yeah, like in the playoffs,
even Lamar hasn't found success yet. It's early. I'm not
writing him on. I don't know, but he's lost two
playoff games and he was to catch me out going

(57:00):
into both of those. You remember that, Dad one five
or six or six yep, six out of seven or something.
Tony and DC, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up? Tony? Hey, what's up? Fellas? What's happening?
Always a pleasure to talk to y'all, no doubt. Rob
trying not to get too much chicken grease all over
the studio. I'm done, man. It was it was just

(57:22):
what needed to be say, Tony. You know when you
gotta eat, man, I'm telling you, I've been working all day. Hey,
but um, I want Rob park on this one a tasting.
It was nice knowing you. We had some memories, but
you gotta do what you gotta do and say one thing.
Because says something about breakwater in New England, I person

(57:42):
don't think it would work because the knock on Bridgewater
come out of college with his arm string right when
the weather changes in the Northeast, the wind, the snow
and all that, I just don't think he would be
he would excel in that kind of environment. So I
think he's in the right situation to wait. Drew brees
out up years couple. No, if he can, if he

(58:03):
can start in New Orleans, like two years from now,
then I'm with you. But New England, you know, Brady,
especially the last few years, hasn't had the strongest arm.
But I'm not I'm not comparing in time Brady albums.
I don't know, but you're right is definitely diminished. Thanks, Tony,
appreciate the call. Let's go to Pete in Riverside, California. Pete,

(58:23):
you're on with christ and Rob. Hey, you guys are awesome.
I've been waiting since that Minnesota game to talk to you.
And at the end of this I want to talk
about the Saints, but I want to say something about
past interference. So Sean Payton and the Saints live on
the deep pass. He did not have a plan be
in that game. He needed to. He wasted almost the
first half of the game trying to throw deep, trying

(58:45):
to throw medium passes, Minnesota's defensive line was in on
breeze within two to two and a half seconds. He's
running for his life. And the deep ball nowadays either
when the plan b happened with Taysom Hill, he brought
them back. I'm not saying he's a quarterback, but he
helped tie that game up. Agree. Here's what I'll say.

(59:07):
I agree with you and Taysom Hill as a gimmick.
When you prepared all week for Drew Brees and then
they throwing this running quarterback, I get it, that can
throw you off. But if you got time to prepare
every week for Taysom Hill, he's not doing that, no
doubt about it. There's a big difference, right, go ahead,
finish your point, Pete. Drew Brees, you gotta look at

(59:28):
the defenses that have been on that team all those years.
You know what I'm saying. Right, They've they've they've had
some good defenses, but they've ever had great defenses his opponents. Yeah,
all right, Pete, thanks for the call. Appreciate Let's do
the go to Max and Georgia. You're in the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Max? What Fellows

(59:52):
and Max? Have you caught the undisputed. We've been doing
the this week. Rob. You guys are killing it. I
love three dollars Bill dak comment today that had me rolling.
We could keep a straight face? Oh my god, I
could course. You know that was funny. No, it was good.
You had one that was really good yesterday. What was

(01:00:13):
about the seventy six ers not needing they don't? You
said they needed nick nurse and said they don't need
a nurse, they need a doctor. That was a good one.
That in chocolate Chip. You up to two, you got two,
got a couple of two? Go ahead, Smax, what's up? Hey?
I think it's crazy. I mean Taystom needs to take
a piece of humble pie. But having said that, I
think if you're the Saints, you gotta figure out is

(01:00:35):
Drew coming back or is he not? If he is,
obviously keep Drew and and hopefully Teddy. But Teddy's attractive
and free agency. So I think Taysom he's talented ways,
I just we want to see he could be a
more talented Tim Tebow. Maybe when he came in that game,
he was the Saints everything. He brought a spark that
they needed badly. They're still lost, but he will remember

(01:00:55):
Tebow won games, including the playoff game. He'd be pinchabaw.
And then that's fair to say Taysom Hill might be
a more talented Tebow, you know, eat skill. I think
throws it, certainly throws it. But but but but yeah,
I was gonna say, and may even run it back.
Once Tebow, uh like really got in a mix. People
didn't want him as a quarterback, you know, Like no,

(01:01:18):
that just we just wasn't gonna be able to do
it every day, all right. One of the baddest men
in NBA history, Charles Oakley, joins us next, but first
be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussar then Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeart Radio app. It is the I Couple coming to

(01:01:39):
you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It
is easy to say fifteen percent or more on your
car insurance. Visit Geico dot com or call eight hundred
and nine four seven Auto. The only hard part is
figuring out which way is easy? I want to say,
And we're still gonna get to Charles Oakley. Uh, Chris,
when I was writing that newsday and and uh, I

(01:02:01):
can remember what's the news there or the daily news
now that I think about it. But everybody always talked
about Patrick Ewing and how he deserved the championship or whatever.
I always thought Charles Oaka deserved the championship. Like I thought,
like like, you know, like he was kind of like
because he wasn't a superstar player, like people didn't think
about that. But I thought, this guy's giving up himself,
played hard every night. You know. Fans used to be

(01:02:25):
like whenever he would be open to shoot, shoot like
and then he would knock him down. I'm anyone's a
great shooter. But you know what I mean, I really
liked him. And that's why I think he was a
fan favorite because New Yorkers could relate to that guy. No,
I liked him. Um, I definitely agree with you. Now,
did he deserve a championship? I mean I just meant
it from his hard work, Patrick, from his hard work,

(01:02:46):
that's what. But he did his job. Everybody should work
that hard, you know, so most people don't. You know,
he worked hard and he was a solid player. But
you know, slow down, my goodness. Patrick was a super
There's no doubt. I'm not I'm not dishing, but there
was always about Patrick, and I just thought, this guy
works really hard, he wants to win. He was packing groceries.

(01:03:12):
I know, so, I mean you know what, I sat
on the baseline for that dunk over Jordan and Pipping.
I was right under the I swear to you, Chris,
that was where was more sober Pipping right, but both
or jumped in. But that's still one of the all
time great dunk. Great dunk, great dunk. All right, Um,
while we wait on Oak, there's another outspoken player in

(01:03:37):
today's game who's making all sorts of noise. Kevin Dury.
Oh is he outspoken? I would have never imagined. Here.
He was on the All the Smoke podcast and they
had to just slowly release the excerpts because there were
so many hot excerpts from Katie. Remember last week we
talked about a few things that he said, and this

(01:04:00):
week he said something about his Oklahoma City teammates. Here
it is, well, okay, see we played with I played
with a lot of athletes. I didn't play with a
lot of skill guys, not like shooters, trip ball, handlers.
So after a while my game started to grow. I
was like, I need to change. This is before the
season even started, you know what I mean. And it
was like, I'm gonna play out my last season as
hard as I can, and I'm not telling anybody I
want to leave. I'm not packing in. I'm trying to

(01:04:22):
win as much as we can and trying to end
this out right. That was my thinking going in before
the year. I was tired of planning that system. I
was tired of like having to be the only guy
that can make three weeks make junk shots and consistently
make them. All Right, that's Kevin Duran. We're gonna bringing
our man. We've been talking about him. Former All Star
for the NIXT charl what's up? What's up? Man? You

(01:04:47):
know what we do? I was gonna ask you. So
you in Cleveland right now? Yeah, man, I you know,
with the promotion play roller Hood. So we did Brooklyn,
We went to you know what after the church were
cooking them in for like three hundred people that came
through Manhattan Sound The Union Station did three hundred. So
came to Cleveland. We did a thousand. The day Breather's

(01:05:10):
Lunch and dinner thousand people. That's great. Many people people
need food in this country, oh, no doubt. Especial people,
you know, trying to get baself back on track. Everybody here.
There's a lot of chuckholes in Detroit and Cleveland, so
people got to blow out tide trying to get back
on the road. So who's touched side helping people out?
That's great. Speaking of Brooklyn Oakley, we just heard uh

(01:05:33):
Kevin Durant. We played a little excerpt. Have you been
following like him on social media? Going back and forth
with fans and just recently he was on all the
smoke podcasts and killing his OKAC teammates, Like what's your
take on k D and how he handles social media
and all that Burner counts all that stuff. I mean
they said a lot of people got burner. I mean,
he just din himself. That's what he'd like to do.

(01:05:55):
I mean, never talk nobody to hustles. He can if
he can deal with it in the in the real world,
you know, I guess some people do a lot of
stuff and don't show their face and something. I mean,
I don't get called in these guys different. I mean,
it's a new cycle NBA basketball, and the guys run
the league. They run the team, they run the company,
running agent, they running whatever. So I ain't got nothing

(01:06:18):
the man about it. After he had won two championship
with Colder State, the two bigger side of NBA history,
back to back. I have no complaints about him. Let
him do him. No, I'm saying, as long as he
can produce somebody court. It's just it's just seems like,
if you're that talented, just let you know, let your
play speak for itself. What do you care if somebody

(01:06:40):
uh and then mother's grandmother's basement, Oak is tweeting something
about you. You know, why, why would you care? It's
a sensitive league. You get you don't get it. Not
the sensitive, yes, I mean you know the tragic. You
know Kobe and they had a blueprint of him coming
in to see what you had to do to be

(01:07:01):
a Tiger and a jungle whatever they played basketball, and
he first came in the era, I mean, I don't
know it. Just man, I'm telling you, y'all see this
sickness basketball going on ninety and night out. I mean,
look at Okasey doing they don't have nothing. Look at
Memphis doing they don't have nothing, right, well, the hold
of they own and you know all they got was

(01:07:23):
Memphis got a number two pick in the draft just
playing within itself. I love how he playing. I mean,
so I don't know people just drafting the wrong people.
Just got to find somebody with some soul. They gotta
go to these small schools again, somebody who understand how
tough of the this is. That tether goal to the
after big school they give them everything. Oh, what do
you think about the new style of play? I mean

(01:07:45):
when you played, you know, you were a power forward.
You rebounded, you hit me rain shots. That's kind of
disappeared the type of player you were disappeared from the NBA.
It's all three pointers now, right, Like, how do you
feel about the style of playing the NBA. Well, it's
about a dollar, right, It's the money's global, right yea?

(01:08:07):
And now when I play the league and I had
four to five percent, go over play a ninety five,
a gap thirty to thirty five. So they followed the money.
It's some money trail anybody, somebody to get the bag.
NBA is getting the back global. So what what we
used to see in good basketball, we don't see it
for my guys, the more you gotta leave a thirty team,

(01:08:28):
you might have seven, like maybe four, maybe five to
seven guys that like, wow, I want to see there's
twenty three other teams. If you don't want to seek
on it, it's just it's just it's just not basketball.
The more analytic or whatever, these googles, you know, shoot threes,
don't shoot two. That's they don't care about free throws them.
And you can turn the ball over twelve thirteen times

(01:08:49):
in the quarter. It's okay, and it is amazing. But
the one team that I love and the word that
they play and the dog and now hard they play
and they play defense. I love the Clippers. I love
that group. I love what they added to you know
what they had last year? Old? Do you like the
Clippers to make the championships as a scared team. You know,

(01:09:10):
they got a great coach and Dods and his staff
to Torona, Lou and all of them Tim because they
a few other guys over there. But they just they
was like last year, you get them. You know, they
came on strong, they made the playoff. It was just
about nothing. So you had two Markey players to that team.
A guy who won the championship just and then you
get Paul George and you got some guys strapping off

(01:09:33):
of Ben Peril and the Lou and uh Lou Willam.
Lou Willam is you know, he's a straight pro Herald,
he's a pro. And you put them too with the
mother too, and you can throw anybody and send him.
And I think what Doc has been doing is trying
to just get to the chemistry at it for later
the season. Right now, it's gonna be up and down.
You're gonna wait five loose too. I mean, I think

(01:09:53):
the Clippers is the only team gonna give Elliot a
problem if they play, who you get? Who would you
go with? Right now? Is the favorite between those two? Uh?
I want to see him play because I know it's
gonna be a good game, get some of the best
with Lebron and Anthony Davis against Paul George and quite Lena.
I think it will come down to coach and if

(01:10:15):
if it do happen, Doc should had an Anthon for
the coach experience and U But I don't know, man,
he just it's hard to tell. I wanted to go
seven because I will you know I would hate to see.
You know, I like both teams, but I'm a Lebron guy,
So you know what I'm going with the Lakers. Charles Oakley,
former NBA All Star join I know you, like you said,

(01:10:37):
you Lebron guy. You know Lebron. Well, you've been on
this show, The Shop, you know, you know MAV and
all those guys. He one thing I like about his
approach this year. You know there hasn't been any drama.
You know he has to complaint. We need this, we
need that. He's just playing well and playing every night.
Why do you think there's been a change in him
in that regard? And you know he's not you know that.

(01:11:02):
I mean, you got the best second third, best record,
the second and the number one West second in the
Wall League. But I think that, uh, I mean the
Lakers player, I think they played court. They played the
courting who they played for us that night of the game.
And you gotta see him lose two in a row
maybe once a year. But the locals, Lebron is the

(01:11:23):
captain and the leader, the guy who keep everybody together
and do things with the teammates, and you don't see
that so long here on the team. The Leakers got
a chance. But I think that Anthony Davis, you know,
what he says is our on him. What he can
he do when Lebron on the floor. What can he do?
So ands Anthon Davids, you know he's a he's a

(01:11:45):
game changing players. Is he stayed healthy? And uh, I
don't know. I don't know. He's saying lagers, more players.
I don't think nobody need players. The league is real
balance for everybody got two guys and it's just you
got to play basketball. That's what the nineties boys, you
played basketball. Everybody had the same type of team. Just
you know, your best players, just for the ride to
the casing. Oh a lot. One thing a lot of

(01:12:05):
people might not know about you is that you're a
great cook. Some people know, um, but you're a great cook.
A two part question. One what's your best dish that
you could into? How'd you get so much into cooking
my best dish? Well, lately they've been going to crazy Turklasien,
that's one. And they love my oxtails. You send some

(01:12:29):
of that up to the eye when you coming to
la I mean, you know always I'm coming. I'm coming
from uh Kobe uh service I think point four. Yea,
I got to come. I mean I was around Kobe.
I mean, I just ain't this guy just like hey,
just the tract is just you know, go out Vanessa

(01:12:49):
and the Mother three girls and g I mean, you
know that's gonna be on these guys for a long time.
I mean, I don't. I don't think that gonna die
down no time in the next five or six because
it's just he's so much global and people the door
about until this happened, Like when I was watching the
tennis he joke I've been doing. I've been dealing with
Kobe for ten years. He's like a mentor to me.

(01:13:10):
And it's like, wow, my mouth was just open. Yeah,
no doubt, but go ahead, yea, yeah, that that was it.
I was gonna just say, oh, you know, I've been
in this business thirty four years, and I say this
with all sincerity. You were one of my favorite players
that I ever covered covering sports and covering the Knicks
and the Nats and the Cincinnati Rads really because you

(01:13:32):
were just the pros pro and I think a lot
of guys don't get like, like what our jobs and
dealing with the press and we're not the enemy, do
you know what I mean? And I really appreciated how
you handled dealing with think. Well, my thing. I always
tell guys you ain't always right, but my thing is
people thing's gonna happen, and sometimes you can't control things,

(01:13:55):
but just be hey. I tell guy, you tell your harder,
you play your best. That's saying Katy was so much
right bad about you, but they got the story to write.
I mean, I never got into with no writers or
whatever like this, nekel. I talked to everybody and I
was honest with guys, and you know, I had to
get call with press. But people are like you know,
like to this day, people referees or press or whoever

(01:14:19):
come to me. I mean, I wasn't the greatest of
what I did, but people respect me and that's all
I get back in respect, no doubt, no doubt. Thank
you all all right, We appreciate you, all right people.

I'm I'm canceling blocking all of your accountcl they we
can't see, so that they can't see his resume. I'm
with it. We want to keep Rob G. I found
out that Rob tried to actually, uh what is it?
They unrecommend somebody for jobs. He's like, no, this guy
was terrible. You don't want to have him at your network.
But you know it was bad. I felt bad for Rob.
I really did that. I went, but but uh, you know,

(01:16:33):
recently Rob was telling us something and I was like,
what happy that he was sticking around with us? I'm
definitely Rob was like god like really like he looked
at me like I was torn because I wanted you
know him, you know, it was selfish, Rob Ge. It's
like selfish. You should be happy that we were like happy,

(01:16:53):
You're not happy? ROGI about it? No, I'm very happy.
It was just funny the way that it was. I know,
wherever he came off. It's funny. He was like, I
had a little more uh polish with it. Yeah, you
you actually kept it together. Yeah. I was celebrating. It
was like, yeah, you know, my daughter's gonna go to college.
And he's like, no, she's not gonna go for I'm like, good, good,
all right, good, we don't need her to go to college. Yeah. No,

(01:17:18):
don't even we don't even want that implication. Don't put
don't play that. I'm talking about rob ge daughter. Do
not even go there. I didn't say the nerve. I'm
just saying, we're talking about rob Gie's daughter going to college.
She's a she's an infant. Stopping. I'm just saying, all right,

(01:17:38):
we ain't putting that out there anyone in the time.
When you go to college, I'll have money for And
I'm talking about no, stop it. I didn't say that
I'm just gonna buy. I'm just gonna I said, I
have a woman. No, I'm just gonna let you take
the whole gee. You know, I wasn't talking about that.

(01:18:01):

He does a great job on radio. He works here
at Fox Sports Radio on the weekends. He's a host.
Former NFL tight end mostly with the Rob's favorite team
to Jacksonville Jaguars when they were good and they should
have beat the Patriots up and Fox stop it another
one of your predictions gone awry. That's what it was, right. Yeah,

(01:19:08):
I usually get the big ones, but that's all right.
I got real to me, like the Super Bowl, like
the World Series, like the World Series, and the NBA
I got it right. The last four NBA Finals spotal
I don't know about the last I'll give it to you.
The last four state ones were really tough to pick.
I picked them in the sweep. How many people picked

(01:19:30):
up Lebron to get swept? A lot of people. No,
they did not. They were I want three off of
Shannon because Shannon couldn't believe Lebron was gonna get swept.
Did he pick Lebron to win that serious? No, just
that that he wouldn't get swept and he beat me
three hundred wings. That'll be George Reister joining us at
the bottom of the hour. The former NFL tighten and
then it is of course a trash talking Tuesday, so

(01:19:53):
you will get to call in and trash anyone or
anything in the world of sports. Get takes ready. That'll
be in about thirty five minutes, eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. We're going to start off with going
back to the NBA and the Lakers, and Rob Parker

(01:20:14):
thinks that Lebron James is beginning to show somewhere and tear.
Now here's the deal. Lebron's last three games, he's averaged
seven turnovers a game he shot forty percent, which is
poor in general, but really poor for Lebron James. He's
average nineteen points in those three games and just not playing.

(01:20:37):
Even to the whole month of February, his numbers are down.
It's only five games, but still and Rob, you think
some of that is he went too hard early and
it is starting to catch up with him. Is that
is that? I don't know, because he got came out
of the box like he had something to prove, Chris,
and I was just wondering, you know, it's about the
postseason today, about the best record, and I know Lebron

(01:21:01):
wasn't happy with what happened last year. It came here
and people, you know, expected big things from the Lakers.
They hadn't made the playoffs in what six years now, uh,
five years coming into last year, so um, you know,
people were expecting that, they were excited and it didn't happen.
For whatever reason, they didn't get there, you know. And

(01:21:22):
so Lebron came out this year with fire and brimstone
and going hard, and I just wondered, like, do you
really want to put that much energy in early on,
Chris when you're year seventeen and you're thirty five years old,
and you gotta have something left to make it through
the playoffs, and you gotta be real careful about it.

(01:21:42):
So I don't know this this slump now that they're in,
I just look at it, and I look at the Lakers,
and I'm just I'm I'm convinced more than ever that
their championship frauds from the standpoint that I don't believe
that it's a done deal. It's a lot that they're
going to be in the Western Conference Finals and playing

(01:22:03):
the Clippers, who I believe are gonna win the championship.
But I just don't believe it's a lock, and UH
don't have to prove it to me. The only way
I think the Lakers do not make the conference finals
is if they play the Clippers in the second round.
I think those are clearly the two best teams in
the West. I think they'll you know, it'll be one
of those two that represents the conference in the finals.

(01:22:25):
I think the Clippers are the favorite, but I give
the Lakers a good shot. I mean, they do, and
you agree, Rob, They've got two of the best three
players in La lebron A d and Kauhi and now
I agree. So who's breaking into But that's what I'm

(01:22:46):
saying that. But I'm just saying it's still basketball, and
two players or even one that goes berserk, can tear
the tide of a series. So I'm not with you
in that they have no shot um. But I think
you know the Clippers are favorite and the better team.
But I give the Lakers a chance as far as

(01:23:06):
Lebron's let hip. Okay, let me say this one last
thing and then you get there. But the last time
I said something like this was when I said that
the Patriots before the season wouldn't make it to the
AFC Championship game. I'm starting to feel the same way
about the Lakers. So that's where I'm at. I'm not
giving you credit for that. Yes, before the season, that
was a big thing. If they're not gonna make they

(01:23:28):
gonna get beat in the first round. I told not
gonna make the playoffs, then I would have given I
told you that the teams not getting to the final four,
stop it, no, but they were had an easy round.
All they do was win. They didn't have. Baltimore was
great tennis. One whole game that's a big time is

(01:23:48):
not that was weak. And again I'm saying it right here,
right now, I feel the same way about the Lakers. Wowze, wow,
just like last year. Parker's got it. Just like I
told you at last year at midway point, when I
told you that the Lakers wouldn't make the playoffs, you
laughed at me. Do you remember all that you injury

(01:24:11):
and all those guys got before that? Stop? What they
were a game out of night and game and a
half out of knife place, and in two games out
of the first place. Well, but that's what they were,
all right anyway, every First of all, I mean, we
got to discuss this notion that Lebron's going too hard.

(01:24:32):
Lebron's being a professional. Lebron is respecting the regular season.
And his minutes are the lowest they've ever been, still
the first it's still sixteenth, and it's still sixteenth in
the league. And ain't like I don't care. It's success
time in his career. He's averaged thirty four minutes or

(01:24:52):
less than thirty five. Still a lot of minutes in
the league. You know better. You know how many minutes
Kobe Bryant average. And it's seventeenth, thirty eight and a half.
It's a different league. Back then human beings were the same.
It was a different league, that's all. The game was different.
Carl Malone his seventeenth year, he average thirty six minutes

(01:25:15):
a game. It our thirty eight wanted. I can't jim
read it. I was trying to count it, but you
couldn't keep talking. But the average King count it was.
I don't know if it's a thirty eight minutes or
thirty sixty average in what He kind of doesn't say,
it's not broken up. I have to count the years.
Oh but anyway, that's my point. If anything, nutrition has improved,

(01:25:39):
weight training has improved, the science has improved. So the
fact that Lebron is playing thirty four minutes in his
seventeenth year, if it wasn't for Kawhi Leonard low managing,
we'd be saying Lebron is low managing. No, he's not. No,
it doesn't have to be keeping low managed by cutting

(01:26:00):
minutes also cuts how games. That's how most people load
manage San Antonio. They miss a few games, four games,
five games, and then they just cut the minutes, play
thirty minutes a night. They wouldn't miss a game every
two weeks like Kawhi. This is unprecedented what Kawhi is doing,
and that should not become the norm. We shouldn't judge

(01:26:22):
other players and look down on them and think they're
going too hard. But play eight games? Can you give
me his numbers lately? It's four game, five three, five games,
it's five games. I think he's still in a bit
of a funk because of the Kobe Bryant situation. Also
think that's just my gut. Yeah, I don't know for

(01:26:43):
a fact. I also think that he's looking forward to
the All Star break. You know, it's the dog days.
You know that Rob, we can hang out at the
All Star Game? What do you think? Uh? Let me
just I don't think that's gonna happen. For it that way,
he probably will have a party. You should I go? Yeah? Yeah,

(01:27:05):
what are you looking at? Every funny? I'm just trying
to think. Should I show up? Yeah, I'll just go
to the door and I'll just say I've been to
a few of his parties that all start out and
you know he's all in a secluded him. But uh, anyway, yeah,
I look, I think the Lakers will be fine, and
I think the Clippers are better. But I do give

(01:27:26):
the Lakers a shot. I don't think their championship frauds
like you do. I just I'm not convinced that everybody
thinks it's a foregone conclusion, especially with how they've looked
against the Clippers. Their record against the better teams the
top four each conference, not good record, a losing record

(01:27:47):
in fact. And after that twenty what would it as
a twenty three and four start? Is that what it was?
Twenty three and four? There? Now that's it's either tenty four.
It's either twenty four and three or twenty four or
twenty three and four, one of those two. I'm a
game off twenty four and three, Chris, twenty four and

(01:28:08):
three and in sixteen and nine and then sixteen and nine.
Sense okay, Well, speaking of frauds, one has been exposed
in the East, really well, the Sixers. I picked the
Sixers to get out of the East. Did you so
you're wrong on that too? Two? Yeah? What's the other one?

(01:28:28):
You picked the Cowboys to get to the super Bowl
and you picked the We're not talking about me, but
we're talking about what about you? Stop it? Stop it? Anyway?
The Sixers look maybe they're showing signs of life now.
They're tough at home, they're really good at home, and
they are beating the Clippers. They're six and a half
seven minutes left in the game. Seventy Sixers are up
ninety six to ninety on the Clippers. Uh Ben Simmons

(01:28:53):
and Joel MB. Simmons got twenty five points, eight dimes,
MB twenty three points, six rebounds. Tobya's hairs seventeen and twelve.
So maybe all the talk, maybe they're rallying, but MB's
only played twenty two minutes, which is interesting. They did
make a lineup change. They put Al Horford on the bench.

(01:29:16):
We were you on that were you're surprised by that
or not? God not not really. You gotta shake things up.
Fir cond cork Miles, who's you know, been shooting the
lights out from three? Firk mind cork mish He's shooting
thirty forty percent from three this year, so they threw
him in the lineup. But he hadn't done much tonight.
He's actually scoreless, so that's not the reason for their

(01:29:38):
improvement tonight. But whatever it is, it's working, and so
it'll be interesting to see if they can close this out.
But I'll tell you what, the Sixers, they give Kauai
some trouble. Now he's having a good game, twenty five points,
but remember it took the first buzzer beater in a
Game seven in NBA history for Kawai to beat to

(01:30:01):
Sixers last year. Got it done, No, he did. I'm
not taking anything away from but I'm just saying that's
how tough Philly played him, you know. So I just
think Rob Here's what I do if I'm Philadelphia and
there's talking about the chemistry in the locker room is
not there. The spacing on the floor is problematic because
Ben Simmons can't shoot, so that forces him down low

(01:30:21):
and then beat out to the perimeter where he can't
do his best work in the paint. Here's what I
do if I'm the Sixers. If they go out early
in the playoffs, like they go out in the first
or second round, or just get demolished in the conference finals,
I'm doing one of two things. I'm looking to trade Mbat,
seeing what I can get for him, and building around Simmons.

(01:30:44):
I think Simmons can play almost like a point center role.
When I need to put him down low, I can,
but obviously he can handle the ball, pushing on the brakes,
so on and so forth. He could kind of play
like Yannis, though he can't shoot it as well as Yannis,
who doesn't shoot it too well him, but he could
kind of play like Yannis and that he can push
the ball surround him with shooters, and then that's how

(01:31:06):
we play. Um or I look to get a new
coach who can get the best out of Mbat and
Simmons together. Those I think are their two options after
the season. What do you think, yep, I think that
you'd have to definitely respond and split them up as
you go forward, because it would it would be a situation, Chris,

(01:31:30):
where you were looking, go, this just isn't working. They
should They should be better, like you said, if they
get especially if they get knocked out. See if they
get knocked out in the first round or something, you
would be like, oh wait a minute, this is not
They went out and they grabbed Horford right, that was
supposed to be a piece. Yes, we know how good
Milwaukee is, but that doesn't mean that they can't be upset.

(01:31:50):
We saw what Toronto did. Toronto was able to upset
them right after they won the first two games. So
I think I think that there's a reason to take
a look at them and decide if this really is
gonna work or can they get something before it just
blows up in their face. So I think that's real.
But I give them this season. You know, unless they're

(01:32:11):
they're talented. I think they're the most talented team in
the East. So let's see what they can do in
the playoffs. Tonight. Ben Simmons being aggressive. I love it
when he's aggressive. That can make up for his lack
of outside shooting. But he's got to stay that way
and play that way all the time. All Right, New
York Knicks seem to get can't seem to get out
of their own way. I'll explain next. A couple of

(01:32:33):

It's the eye couple of Chris and Rob. And we
want you to make twenty twenty your year. You can

little as four months go to micam Uter dot edu
and take the free career evaluation today. It's not Rocket
Times to my computer career dot e d you it's
what you say about the year. Thank you, Barbara. Look

(01:33:17):
at Chris. You know you used to have a crush
on Barbara Walters when he was growing up. Didn't you
go to school with Barba Wise? I mean she's like
eighty five years old. Chris, Right, How do you think
the women on the Golden Girls cruise gonna? I told
you some young women hit me up and said that
going now for me, I don't believe it. I'm telling

(01:33:38):
you they want Instagram. You think an old woman's on Instagram? Yes, Chris, anyway,
let's wait till I send you the pictures from the crew.
I can't wait to see these pictures. Oh oh, Marcus
Morrison MB getting into it. That's what we talked about
Rob Dogs. What did I say on that Rob's not

(01:33:59):
gonna like this? I said yesterday on Undisputed. Look, and
I like the Lakers, but I said the Lakers are Hollywood.
They're Beverly Hills, the Clippers, Compton and Watts. You already
know and tell me this. You don't think he's endeared
to his teammates right now, they like, he's like, he

(01:34:19):
wouldn't we want us right there and he would have
the biggest guy on the court. You ain't going out
some correction number. They're not Compton and Watts their riverside
in Palmdale, number two, number two, number two. All of
that pushing and shoving is cool until you're in the
playoffs and it's a technical foul and it turns into

(01:34:42):
a four point game because you just because you just
because you're being stupid podcast and some reason to be Actually,
it was Ryan Ricilla who said that, look at that,
you're just stealing material like yours. I know, right, where
do I get that from? I don't know. Park. Let's

(01:35:02):
get to the Knicks for a few moments. And who
was this Scot. I like the Knicks. And first of all,
let me say this right now, they got Scott Perry
running them. The team is right, and Scott Leon Rose
is coming in as the president of the former agent.
He knows Scott well too, because Leon his main guys worldwide,
West William Well, I know West right, and both of

(01:35:22):
those guys were in Detroit close to the organization when
Scott Perry was the assistant gim too, So I think
they should keep Scott. Leon's going to need someone that
knows the business, knows the league. So I think hopefully
he'll keep Scott, give him a legitimate chance. But regardless,

(01:35:42):
they apparently have brought in what they're calling a brand consultant.
His name is Steve Stout. Now I've heard of Steve Stout.
I'm familiar with him. He's a hip hop mogul, I don't.
I don't know who that was. Yeah, he's a music executive.
He's the author of a book called The Tanning of America,
How hip Hop created a culture that rewrote the rules
of the new economy. Now that's his book. But he

(01:36:08):
went on First Take Today with our good friend Stephen A.
Smith on the other network and put his foot in
his mouth. Yeah, he's talking about stuff, And I know
he didn't said directly, but he kind of law alluded
to having a new Well here's what he said. There
had to be a change, do we have it? Okay,

(01:36:28):
First he said this, there had to be a change
when he talked about the firing of Steve. That change
will bring a new coach and new coaches that are
going to help develop these young players. He went on
and then said, and getting a coach in there and
ultimately getting a coach and a coaching staff that's going
to help develop a team. That's what I expect to happen,
so that we can actually get what we expect from

(01:36:50):
a New York team. So he applied that they're getting
a new coach there, gonna fire Mike Miller, who's coaching.
I don't think that's a huge deal because, like you said,
he's enter him. We know he's probably not, but it's
just not his it's not his player brand consultant. You
shouldn't be on there talking about basketball decisions at all. Chris, right,
and we know the Nicks out to the statement and

(01:37:12):
basically said just that. Yeah, like like, okay, you're here
for one thing, but don't bring it to make us cool,
which is another thing. Right, the basketball team. You're worth
four point six billion dollars, the most in the NBA
despite having not won a championship in ninety years, and
you're working, You're bringing in a music executive to make

(01:37:33):
you cool. You're reacting to Kevin Durant tell saying the
Knicks aren't cool, So now you go hire a dude
you're actually paying him to make you cool. Here's an idea.
How about you get some good players, how about that
making and stop throwing T shirts and just win some games, right,

(01:37:54):
I mean, and then here's what he said, this guy
twitter in and uproar Steve. We gotta get athletes to
believe that they can come here and actually be the best,
be them best elves. I mean, that hasn't that hasn't
transpired over recent times. And I understand some of the
reasons why we got to solve that issue. Um, I

(01:38:15):
just think there's a culture of winning and excitement that
New York City has. A New York City is the
hub of sports and entertainment. That's how I feel, and
it started moving around. My job is to bring it back.
Toronto Raptors. They brought in Drake, right, they brought in
Drake to bring that thing. The New York Knicks brought
in Mit, we've heard of Drake, just but just to

(01:38:41):
say that, like to put that out there like that,
I don't know. I'm put off by put off, like baffled.
I'm put off by it a little bit, you know,
like you're trying to like, well, you know, like put
stick his chest out. Well, they got Drake and they
won a championship, and now they're bringing in me, and
now I'm gonna do what Drake did. It helped Toronto

(01:39:02):
win a CHAT championship. Let me say something and hear
me and hear me. Clearly, Drake is the icing on
the cake, right, Drake is the catchup on the burger.
Maybe not even the catch up. He might be the mayonnaise.

(01:39:23):
Drake is not necessary in Toronto. Drake did nothing that
had nothing to do with that championship, nothing at all, Missia.
Jerry went out and traded for Kawhi. Leonard put together
a good team. I had a good coach and Nick Nurse.
Now help me out. Was Drake not sitting on those

(01:39:44):
courtside seeks the previous four years and they didn't win.
He was there when Lebron was running this paper, right
they got swept. Yes, he was there, so stop it.
Drake is a fan just like Fike Lee and Chris
rock Art Nicks right, just not making decisions. Yeah, okay,

(01:40:08):
he has enough money to buy in in some way,
shape or form. But believe me, Messiah, Jerry and anybody
else in power is not going to Drake for advice
on the team Drake. The Raptors are cool because they
won a championship, and yeah, Drake's a star and he's there.

(01:40:31):
Oh it's nice, but it's icing. And Steve Stout for
all his success, and he's very successful. I respect him,
but you're not Drake. Most of you guys didn't even
know him. I just know him because I'm in the
hip hop and I know he's amogel and all that
I did. I didn't know him. I never heard him.
Rob G didn't even know him. Is he like a
New York j D? J D? Who's j D from Atlanta?

(01:40:58):
I don't know. I thought, you know hip hop jae
U J Jermaine duh No because Jermin. I don't think
Steve stolen from Iowa any type of Rob G get
off the mic. I don't think. I don't think he's
done music. I mean Jermaine dupri obviously was a producer.
He actually I just don't music. I don't I don't
maybe there. I don't think Stout. I think he's just

(01:41:19):
straight up businessman. I thought he owned a lot of rush,
a lot of supermarkets here in LA. Was that sprouts? Oh?
I'm sorry, thank you? Alex, what have you got to
ruin every little thing with a corny Joe? What I
was just rob just because you try to a three
dollar bill kind of? That joke was funny. We gotta

(01:41:40):
get that and pull that off. Lee, Know what was
the one you wanted to pull off? There was something? Uh,
you had a good yesterday you had to go. Sorry,
everybody's watching this show. They know I'm funny. Wait till
I do my stand up after I get back from
the Golden Girls crew. All right, listen to up, folks.
It is a trash talking Tuesday. Maybe you should start

(01:42:01):
calling in now to seven ninety nine on Fox A

you will get your chance to trash in. You go
to anything in the world of sports, hit us up.
It's the I Couple of Fox Sports Radio Radio. We
also got former NFL tight end George Reister coming up next.
He's great. He'll talk to us about what's going on

(01:42:21):
in the NFL Draft. Should Joe Burrow go number one
or shit Twoah? But first, Fox Sports Radio has the

which way is easier. Good friend of mine does a
great job here at Fox Sports Radio on the weekends.
He's a host former nf fell tight end George Riceter, George,

(01:43:02):
what's up? What man? Happy to Happy to be back
on the Odd Couple. Man, I'm waiting to get back
into well. Hey, Rob is taking a vacation. He's going,
believe it or not, He's going on the Golden Girls cruise.
What if he believe it or not? The Golden Girls,
there's nothing when we're going to the Western Caribbean. It

(01:43:23):
really is that true? You believe you believe that? Are
we losing? Man? This is the same man that went
to uh article, So of course I can believe he's
going on a Golden Girls. He's breaking stereos every day,

(01:43:46):
no doubt at all. Right, let's get to something you
can talk everything. So we maybe we'll move around from
sport to sport. But let's start with the NFL. You
obviously played in the NFL. Um Joe Burrow. A lot
of people that think and thought he'd be number one,
but now to us, supposedly has got a clean bill
of health. Would you who would you take number one?

(01:44:07):
And it's obviously the Cincinnati Bengals. Hello, let's let let's
call back? Yeah, all right? So what Look, it is
a trash talking Tuesday. The lines are lit up. So
if you want to trash anyone or anything in the
world of sports, you need to call now eight seven

(01:44:30):
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine and you can weigh in.
Rob Let me ask you this as we wait for
George to jump on. Is it just me or and
I like the Knicks. I'm not trying to disc I
just don't like the idea of a brand consultant. So

(01:44:50):
we got George back? All right, George, you're back, all right, good?
So what do you think on the h I'm gonna
ask you a two part question. First, who should go
number one? One? Secondly, there's a lot of people that
think that Burrow and maybe they think the same thing
about Tua should refuse to play for the Bengals because
they're not considered a good organization. Your thoughts on his phone,

(01:45:15):
this is okay, We're gonna have to get him more
another time. His phone keeps like he's there, but we
got a bad signal. But but back to the Knicks.
We'll do him another time because I just think Rob
that I'm look, I get it that the Knicks have
been down for two decades now. You could change all

(01:45:37):
the part. One thing doesn't change, Chris. What doesn't change
the owner? Yeah, I mean you can go ahead and
keep bringing in You talked about it before and look
at the all star list of people they bought in
it and Hall of Famers, sus Larry Brown, Tomas, they
He's tried, but one thing is the same, consistent thing

(01:46:00):
is him. Well, when you talk about changing the image,
you gotta get that image of him having Charles Oakley,
who we had on the show last hour, dragged out
of that thank you doll right like a rag doll, Chris,
and he tried, you know the next game. I think
it was Ry Johnson and Latrelle Spreew sitting on a
bench with him. I just like to say, no, I'm

(01:46:21):
cool with That's exactly what it was. It was a
visual for people to make him, make you feel good
after what had happened to Oak and a lot of
people in New York were not happy about that. And look,
you can't make him sell his team and so but
that might be I don't know for sure. If that's
all they can change it, that certainly would change the image.

(01:46:43):
But I don't know if that's the only thing, I
don't know. I hope there's something else. I really hope
they can. I mean, at least become a place where
top not tree agents will seriously consist. It's always weird
when you see teams go through this, and I've been
through it, you know in Detroit would watching the Lions,
you know, and the same thing Chris like for years.

(01:47:05):
They just can't seem to put it together. They keep
they're hiring Matt Millan, Yeah, but they've been they've been
bringing in people right, trying to change it. Oh, Matt
Millan talked, A great game came there was like the
worst general manager probably in the history of sports. Just
really it was bad. It was bad. It was atrocious,
But then they had a good coaching Jim carl Right
ran him out of town. He made the playoffs two

(01:47:25):
out of three years, and ran him out of town.
He made the playoffs two out of three. They didn't
want him. Then they go to the Patriots Bob Quinneys
at GM who said ninety seven one good enough in
the playoffs, going to the playoffs one good enough. And
now they got Matt Patricia, guy who hasn't done anything.
Three games this year, Yeah, like nine total in two years.

(01:47:47):
And he told they told, uh, call well at nine
and one season wasn't good enough. But for Matt Patricia,
nine and two years is good enough. Bringing him back. Look,
at the end of the day, we know the Western
conferences better than East in the NBA, and Rob I
think there's one reason it's better. It's not geography. It

(01:48:08):
is that they're better managed. They make better draft picks,
they make better trade. That's what it's about, they really do.
That's what it's about. And you know, occasionally a team
will get a free agent. Obviously the Lakers they got shocked.
They got Lebron and take some mark to get it.
You get a really good player who pens out a
lot of teams have got how you talking so good? Yeah? Management,

(01:48:32):
they make good decisions. I agree, it's it's about Portland.
It's about making having a plan, Chris, getting some draft picks,
being able to add the right free agent. Even this
past year, when the Knicks missed out on everybody, they
had to spend some money and they just put people
on fire. I think that that was just because they
had but they had to go, you know, you there's

(01:48:53):
a there's a floor. You got to spend a certain
amount of money. So they had to spend it on
some people. And I get that they couldn't just go like, well,
we're still going to hold onto the morning, not spend it, right,
But they were like this close to change in everything
with the Zion pick. Right, they had an awful year, Chris,
if they get Zion, it changes, right, if they had

(01:49:18):
gotten number two, but that that would have changed, and
it didn't happen for them, and I went from that.
They got number three, and then the two guys who
were available and free agency pick came to New York
but didn't come to the Knicks. They came to New York.
It was like they stayed all right. It is a
trash Talking Tuesday. Turned away in trash Anyone anything in

know whether to smile. Let you kick a field. Go man,
all right, you know the deal. You get to trash

(01:50:22):
anyone or anything in the world of sports. Eight seven,
seven ninety nine On Fix eight seven seven nine, nine,
six sixty three sixty nine. Before we get to you callers,
our man Ralph Irvin wants to trash somebody. Robin. I've
been in suspense, yes two hours, wondering what in the

(01:50:42):
world you're gonna say. So, So go ahead, you're who
you're trashing. There's one thing that you guys have in common,
one person or thing you love. That's Eric Jordan's. I'm
putting in front of you right now. That's a box
of Eric Jordan threes. They've been born twice. Open them

(01:51:02):
and you tell me what's wrong. What's wrong with these
air Jordan's. Oh gosh, what happened to them? They got
the bottom? The thing's got to be the soldiers. Wait,
you war these twice. That happened during the second wearing. No,
I walked in them. These are fake. They are not fake?

(01:51:23):
How you so? How'd you buy them from a store?
So why'd you take them back? Because they're not exactly new.
The first time I war them was five years ago.
It doesn't matter. You should have taken this bottom is.
This is incredible air Jordan's. And sadly, this is not
the first pair of Nikes this has happened to. I'm sorry,
they just don't last. Air Jordan's. Air Jordans I've had

(01:51:46):
for you. These might be some air wardens, right, how
much did you pay for them? Nine dollars? No, how
much you pay for for somebody on the street. No,
you went to so take them back. You gotta take
those backs. You can see they have no Ralph. Take
them back and don't tell him it was just take
him back and say this is what happened. You don't

(01:52:08):
want cash back, you want to replacement pair. Often they'll
take it back, they send it back. To that to
the fact that we said you wore those twice. I
wore them twice and you didn't play ball. You walked
in No, remember, I said, I went to my high
school thing. Well, they honored us for our twenty fifth reunion,
our thirtieth reunion, and I wore him those two times.
That's good. Did they break out like that while you

(01:52:29):
were wearing them? I was walking into the gym on
Friday night? You thought to cool they to turn around
and go put on my other shoes. That is unbelievable. Hey,
Zion is online one, he says, guess look what happened
to me looked like the shoes that happened as I
thank you. That was a good one. Wow. But Rob's right,
return return them and go get another pair. At first,

(01:52:50):
I thought you were giving us a payer. I was
gonna be like, my goodness, I've never trash and my
man Ralph again. Hey, Ralph, good job, Ralph, go get Nike.
Let's go to path check. In North Carolina, Patrick who
you're trashing, Hey, my brothers to night, I am trashing
the North Carolina tar Hills. I am fifty six years old.
I have watched Carolina basketball for forty six years. You

(01:53:12):
go toe to toe with Duke at home on Saturday night.
You play the best game of the year, lead almost
all game, and are in command with five minutes to go.
What do you do? You miss free throws at home games.
You should make at least seventy percent of your free throws,
not fifty percent or less. By not making those free throws,
you lost probably the biggest game of the season. Makes

(01:53:33):
your free throws and maybe you can win some games.
All right. I like the heat about Mike in New York.
Mike and New York. You are with Christ and Rob
who you're trashing. I'm trashing Steph Curry and Chris brud. Wow,
I'm trashing you for your take of we were arribbed

(01:53:53):
with Steph Curry's greetings. Christ's a false believe reports. Remember
they got blown out on the first when he was
healthy this year, and when that when stuff was helping,
they weren't gonna make the playoffs before he got hurt. Chris,
if you're that guy, if you're that guy, this was
at least get the team in the playoffs in the
league where half the teams make the playoffs, and Lebron

(01:54:20):
was hurt. And when he was favored to win MVP
last year, what do he do? He didn't do anything.
And if they would have won, Clay would have got it.
And if they'd have won in two times sixteen jam
I would have got it. He had a three point
trip with Dublin Game seven. So this man, I need
you to stop it, because we start just stopping Mike

(01:54:41):
in New York. What about rack Off? What about Briant
in Missouri? You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. Brian,
who are you trashing? I like Mike, Rob, I'm trashing
you man. What Yes, Chris, I met you in Miami
at the Super Bowl outside time one twelve. You remember that, yes?
And I told you to call in right yep? Yeah,

(01:55:04):
I'm calling in right now to go after my boy,
Rob Parker. Chris has no idea heck out. We were
standing on the curve, right, I remember, right yep? Yeah,
ye see, I got I got a memory like that.
It just let's send. I'm tired of you saying Pat

(01:55:26):
Mahomes is not jordanst You need to stop that nonsense
right now, because listen, the first year he started a
full season, what do you do? Something wanted bow me
three other or two other quarterbacks and he's higher NFL
ever did fifty touchdowns and five thousand yards. Then everyone
was like, well, he's never won a super Bowl. One
year in the league. Everyone was saying league never won
a Super Bowl, He can't win the big game, blah

(01:55:47):
blah blah. What do you do? This year? He went
out and halfway through the season he dislocated his kneecap,
and what do you do? He decided to come back
and win the freaking Super Bowl down ten points with
six and a half minutes left to go. I might add,
Brian excellent calls, stay on the line, talk to Rob
g for a moment. Great job. Let's go to Carlos
in Tacoma. We got to Washington quickly. Calls. You got

(01:56:09):
like twenty seconds. Who you're trash? I want to trash
Rob Parker and everybody who still hates on Lebron James
the greatest basketball player we have ever seen. Yeah, Jordan
was the greatest champion, but Christmas hard you know basketball,
Jordan could not do what Lebron does on the court
every day. Six champions, like everybody else that Jordan is

(01:56:33):
the greatest champion. But when Lebron James retires, were all
gonna miss him and y'all gonna appreciate him more. The
boy has never did nothing wrong. He's the inspiration that everybody,
not just black men, all men, women, everybody in this country.
They should be giving him more props. That's all. Great job, Carlos,
great job. I just threw up in my mouth. Thank you,

(01:56:55):
Carlos ver Yo. They went at you man. You thought
to Mike, couldn't hang Mike tried to go, my man, Mike,
my old lines at my man, stop stop it. It's
the I couple of Fox Sports right inscruted in the morning,
undisputed the morning. To tune in Fox Sports one. You
won't regret it.
