(01:29):
out write it and we'll do it lot. Shown us
how you today on this uh funky flashback Friday. I'll
just hanging out it's my favorite time of year. I
love when the NFL's not in season because I love
offseason NFL stories. I love diving in in the middle
of the NBA season in college basketball and firing off
some hot takes that piss people off. It's a fun
time and it's always fun filling in and working with
(01:50):
you guys. Well, I appreciate you coming in, you whenever
we need you to come in and do a good job.
And it was like, we don't miss a beat. I'm
you know, I'm the two am. You know, the two am.
Everybody's got a two am, right, but they can always
count on I'm your two am. Very nice. Yeah, we
all need that in our lives. So much to do.
(02:12):
There's still a lot of stuff going on. Baseball still
in the news. Say Ku Smith from the NBA TV.
He's an analyst and host of the Hang Time podcast.
We'll talk with him. Uh Dan and Greene is an actor, writer, comedian,
and two times Golden Globe Golden Gloves I should say
(02:33):
Boxer Will We'll jump in with him. He's our celebrity
guest today. And Gruard Mustaf, a former NBA player and
founder of the Street Ball Association I covered Gerard in
uh New York when he was a rookie with the Knicks.
Did you rip him? Probably ripped him at some point
(02:53):
because the Knicks weren't that good. But he's a good guy,
and not too long ago, when the All Star Game
was in Washington, d C. I wind up having lunch
with him. We want up being friends on Facebook, and
you know, we connected and he's a great guy. So
we'll do that and much more. But first, let's welcome
in the odd couple crew. We wouldn't be able to
do this fine radio program without them, we probably could,
(03:14):
you think, so? Yeah, I think? What does that hat's sake?
What does that say? Sunset terrorists restaurant and lunce my
brothers the one that you want to go to? That one, No,
the one. I'm waiting till they let black people as
soon as his wife's black, okay and his name's Tyrone.
(03:36):
I swear to God, as soon as they let black
people in who are working. Okay. That's very very well done,
not like reckless radio on a Friday. Robah Parker, Right,
thank you, Rob, thanks for arning my brother's business. Right,
they're piketing now I'll show up. Yeah, of course they
are all right, sorry about that. Rob G is our producer,
(03:56):
Alex is our engineer. Alex, You're the best, you know, Rob.
Let me just say this. If I wasn't doing the show,
I don't know if I'd still be here. Hands down, unbelievable,
and uh it's it's a good thing to announce on
the air to man a right, if you move me,
I'm out of air. Well, but do you know what.
He appreciates the show, and we appreciate him. He makes
the show. He really is a big part of it.
(04:18):
People stop us all the time. Rob G is just
here like a lump, you know, like I mean, you know,
he comes in whatever. You know, he's busy on LinkedIn
looking for a new job. I should worry this guy's
trying to find a job. You got the gatling guy
out today. Everybody's getting it early in the show. Jesus.
Maybe it's because this is my third show to day,
(04:39):
you're no longer playing by the rules. I'm just like,
I have to work hard. What about you? Guy? My god,
that's right. Steve just Sager's at the anchor desk. He'll
keep us updated throughout the program. Always great to have
Steve along for the ride. Isabella is our intern. She's
uh from the from Boston and loves all everything town
(05:00):
and it's all cool with us. And of course Elijah,
who's our social media guru, one of the best in
the business. They're all on the other side of the glass.
Come on, Jonas knocks, it's a funky flashback Friday. Let's
kick some man. And I can tell that your energy
level really jumped up a notch after you properly pronounced
(05:20):
Elijah's name. Was Yeah, just so I can tell it's
all downhill from here. So this is gonna be fine.
Me and Elijah are cool no matter what you guys
are trying to put a wedge between us, because I've
been saying his name long before anybody else, and I
say his name every day for the last eighteen years
since this show's been on the air. Yeah, you called
him Edward ten minutes, all right. So the baseball story
(05:46):
will not go away away, Jonas. And you know, like
Major League Baseball was hoping that they could put the
Kai bosh and people wouldn't talk too much about it,
especially you know with spring training coming up. It's it's
the talk of baseball, right every time of player comes in,
they're asked about the scandal, and people are just going
off yesterday. We're gonna play both sounds because you want
(06:06):
to play yesterday's sound of as Joe's owner Jim Crane,
who who was talking out of both sides of his mouth.
One minute he's saying it didn't impact anything, and the
next thing he goes, well, it probably impacted the World
Series in the winning So let's hear Jim Crane this
was yesterday, and then we'll hear about reaction today. You know,
our opinion is, you know that this didn't impact the game.
(06:30):
We had a good team, we won the World Series,
and we'll leave it at that, Jim. Sign stealing is
a distinct advantage for the hitter, So how is it
that doesn't affect competition? So then what are you guys
apologizing for. We're apologizing because we broke the rules. But
isn't sign stealing a distinct advantage for the hitter? So
it doesn't it automatically impact competition? It could possibly do that,
(06:55):
it could possibly not. Oh thank you, I swear to god,
I've heard mims give better press. I mean, what was that?
Sometimes you know what you're better off having somebody write
a statement for you and read it. Look, you can
criticize Sammy Sosa, you won. He gave everybody the blueprint
for this. Noah blah in Glass, It's just that easy.
Your last names Crane, Yeah, but they left the Z
(07:16):
off the come on bla in Glass every time. All right.
So so Cody Bellinger step to the plate for the Dodgers,
and Cody, you know what if you weren't a Cody
Bellinger fan. I know you don't want to hear this,
but here's a young guy who is not holding back. Now.
I mentioned his words, not trying to play the politically correct,
(07:40):
and you could act like, well, you know, it's a
bad thing for baseball and it's unfortunate and we have
to move past it. No, he didn't do that. You're
talking about me with the gauntlet. He came out with
guns of blazing. Let's hear from Cody Bellinger thought the
apologies were or whatever. I thought Jim Cranes was weak.
I thought man frets punishment was week given him immunity.
(08:03):
I mean, these guys were cheating for three years, you know.
I think what people don't realize is how two stole
an MVP from Judge in seventeen. Everyone knows they stole
the ring from us. Personally, I lost respect for those guys.
I think I would say everyone in the show in
the Big League's lost respect for those guys. Hey, it's brave, man.
(08:24):
I want to hit this though, And I know you're
not that big on the apologies because it's happened, it
can't be changed. But here's one thing. Well, you agree
the Major League Baseball Players Association is the strongest union
in the country. No ifs are, but it's absolutely. It's
just here's a breaking of the ranks. Usually they're they're together,
and no matter what goes on a strike or whatever,
(08:47):
they usually stick together and don't point fingers at each
other very seldom. This is the first time that I'm
starting to see it's not just Cody Bellinger but other
players who are ripping the Astros. Even a couple of players.
Rob g on the record said I'm would I throw
at them? I might Roch Stripling, who was traded right
(09:08):
from the Dodgers. He said, I mean, on the record,
you don't normally say I'm gonna throw at somebody. You
don't want that on the record because if you do,
you're gonna get suspended and lose money. But but I
think there's a frien This level of cheating has splintered
the union from the standpoint that they're the Astros. I
(09:28):
really believe jonas prosada non grata, like they crossed the line.
Everybody's trying to get an edge. Everybody's trying to look
at the catcher to see if he's not covering up
his signs. Right, you're on second base. That's all a
part of the game. If I could relay, if you're
on second base and you can relay me that a
curveball's coming, you would do it. Yeah, right, yeah, and
(09:49):
everybody would be cool with that. But with the technology
and what they did, I think they crossed the line.
And it's going to be interesting how they're treating, you know,
all the camaraderie with baseball players before the game, Palin
up dapping everybody. Right. Yeah. Now, let me ask you this.
Do you think the MLB Players Association is happy with
what Cody Bellingers just said, Because I'll bet they're not,
(10:11):
because that's the same association that gets you, guys the
contracts that you've gotten. It's the same association that is
the envy of every other players association from without question
to the NFL. Why don't you ask NFL players And
I've talked to former NFL players what they would do
for some of the things that their players done. They
can't believe the baseball compared to what they have. Look it.
(10:33):
It's what I was saying yesterday, Man, don't throw stones
if you live in a glasshouse. And I think there's
a lot of glasshouses in Major League Baseball and a
lot of people that are saying, hey, guys, we get it.
They cross the line. Their scumbags were doing so, they lied,
they cheated, their frauds. But let's go ahead and try
and move forward, because we start digging deep enough, we're
(10:54):
going to find problems with anybody. It's exactly why you know,
who never comes out and criticizes a college coach for
illegal activity going on in a program? Other college coaches
And do you want to know why, because those other
college coaches might be doing something too. It's why nobody
goes out and criticizes their own kind. No, I get it,
and there's a fraternity, but I'm saying, in this case,
(11:16):
when you think about the competitiveness and what it takes
to make it to the major leagues, which is an honor.
Only eight hundred jobs. Let's be honest, it's three hundred
and thirty million people. Only eight hundred people are good
enough to at a fastball and and fail seven out
of ten times to stay in the major leagues or
even less than that. You know, um, so I think
there is I get what you're saying. I get what
(11:39):
you're saying, but I really believe this struck a nerve.
And even when Cody Bellinger to me brings up that
Al two Ray stole an MVP from I mean that's
digging that you could just say this is terrible. I
can't you know, like the whole idea of it all
these people have worked hard for whatever, But to really
dig into that and bring that up and say you
(11:59):
stole the MVP from Judge. How in the world Cody
Bellinger and Altobe gonna be cool before it again? But listen,
if I were if I were Major League Baseball or
the Players Association, I would I would tell guys, listen, man,
we know what happened was wrong. But the reason those
guys have immunity is because of us. Because of our strength.
(12:20):
That's true. You can't let a couple of bad apples
try and break down the foundation of what is the
best thing going for players. When it comes to all
professional sports in this country, the Major League Baseball Players
Association is the top of the pedestal, top of the
food chain when it comes to continuity and unity, hands down,
(12:41):
and it's not even close. I would just I would
say this, you guys want to handle this, do it
in these games, you know, like, like I know you're
gonna be asked a bunch of questions, but man, we're
moving on. We're trying to get over it. Obviously, something
terrible happened, but like, don't talk about threatening guys like
you're gonna hit guys. Just go out and do it.
Make it happen on the field, Make make your stance there.
(13:03):
I just think if if you were to pin down
Major League Baseball Players Association and you were to ask him, hey,
you got a problem with what's going on here, they
would say, yeah, I feel like we've got to move
on and handle this on the field. Because you remember
when Major League the Players Association came out last year,
you and I talked about this. There was this delay
on wanting to give these big contracts out for guys
(13:25):
like wait at all almost look the season Clay Kimbrell
is probably a Hall of Famer, and he couldn't get
a job because there was nobody that was willing to
pay him. Same with Dallas Kikel and a bunch of
other players the past couple six weeks, and the Players
Association spoke out and said, this is crap. The owners
are conspiring to not give us. Like that's one thing
you're calling out that you're calling out the opposite, right,
(13:47):
But when you start calling out your own, you're treading
on on certain waters there. Because look, I'm hearing about
all these players that are saying, like Cody Bellinger said
in that statement, you know they were they were cheating
for three years. When did you find that they were cheating?
Because if you didn't say anything back then, to come
out now after you lost the World Series, I don't know,
a little bit hypocritical. I would just encourage unless you've
(14:09):
got a totally clean sheet and you've got no skeletons
in your closet, don't let anybody come over and inspect
the closet. That's all I would say, because I feel
like there's a lot of people who've done a lot
of bad things in baseball the past couple of years,
and it's why they didn't say anything at the time.
If they knew somebody was cheating, they should have come
out and said it, but they didn't because they knew
they were probably doing something not on the books as
(14:31):
well too. And this, this is amazing. I mean, you're right,
you don't You don't hear this where a player against
bad man, and this is this is why I think
that this has really struck a nerve because it's just
it's it hasn't stopped. And I don't know where the
Astros are gonna be. Do you expect you know, there
were some fans who Dodger fan and Yankee fans, we've
(14:52):
already bought tickets. I think the Astros opened up the
season against the Angels, Yeah, to go out to the
stadium and boo them. And they'll probably be roundly booed
at every stadium. Yeah, players, I don't know how much
they're gonna interact with them, right, do you? I just
I don't know what to expect it. Well, they're gonna
be booed everywhere they go, they're the villains, like they're
(15:14):
going to be the villains of Major League Baseball. They're
gonna be booed, and everybody recognizes what's happening with the
Houston Astros. I just think, like, if i'm and I
know these guys are going to come out and they're
gonna make these threats like we're gonna throw it and
we're gonna do this, We're gonna do that, that's that's
all good and well, I just I find it a
little odd that not like we can both agree on this.
(15:35):
Major League Baseball had an opportunity to do the right thing,
take away the trophy, vacate the World Series. They didn't
do it, Okay, so now you got to deal with that.
And at the same time, no player was punished. So
the fact that no player was punished is telling Cody
Bellinger and these other players, hey man, you may not
like it, but that's how strong our union is punished
and you know what that is true? That's where that
(15:57):
came from. Yeah, Like, because there's also a burden proof.
There was a player a minor league who came up
and I don't know his name, but he came up
to the team and they started to explain to him
what they do, and he said, stop. This guy trying
to get on the team, was, you know, just added
to the roster. Yeah, stop, not interested, I don't want
(16:18):
to know. Don't show me, do you know what I mean?
Like this dude refused to even want to see what
they were talking about. So it's pretty interesting, just crazy,
but us. All right, I'll telephone number eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. That's eight seven seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine. We do want to hear
from you on this very very interesting baseball players against
(16:39):
baseball players. So will the astros cheating scandal be the
straw that breaks the back of the Major League Baseball
Players Association. We'll continue the conversation with you. It's coming
up next. It's The Odd Couple on Fox Sports Radio,
Stick and Stay America. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker
(17:01):
weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. It's The Odd Couple
Fox Sports Radio. Rob Parker Jonas Knox in for Chris Boussard,
who is getting better and we'll be back on the
program on Monday on this funky flashback Friday. Do you
own a home or rent a home? Sure you do. Fortunately,
(17:22):
Geico makes it easy to bundle your home and auto insurance.
It's a good thing too, because having a home is
hard work. Go to Geico dot com, get a quote
and see how much you could save Geico dot com Easy.
We're talking about Major League Baseball players warring against each other.
You never see this one of the strongest unions they have,
(17:44):
the real brotherhood Jonas and not anymore. But it's an
astro cheating scanal and wait, wait till the penalty comes
out with the Red Sox. We're not done with this.
This is gonna be all spring joining. I mean, if
I were Major League Baseball, I'd wait for the weeks. Yeah,
if just so you can steal every headline and heading
out into the season because basically that's what we are.
We've been talking more baseball than we have in years.
(18:06):
Maybe it's amazing. Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox,
the question is, um could this scandal break the Major
League Baseball Players Union? And should players be trashing each
other or or not? Or should they pull back what
should players do. Let's start and kick the show off
with Josh in Pennsylvania. You're on the odd couple of
(18:29):
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Josh, my man? How are
you doing? Doing great? You? I could be better. I'm
a Dodgers fan, so you know I'm gonna take codey
side on this. Um. I mean, the fact that these
guys are speaking out just shows you, you know, how
how much of a code has been broken here and
(18:52):
what kind of rules have been broke. I don't disagree, Josh.
I think people understand certain degrees of trying to get
an advantage. This went overboard and when you see the details.
Even Cody Bellinger brought up the Altuve with the jersey,
talking about, you know, if I hit a walk off
(19:12):
home running the bottom of the night that gainst the
wall to shopman, I wouldn't be worried about my jersey.
Yeah No. And listen, they're all like, and that's not
the argument here. They're all right. The Astros and what
they did it was a scumbag move. And Jose Altuve
and Alex Bregman and everybody that was a part of it.
We used to think those two guys with something else totally,
(19:33):
and it's completely diminished their accomplishments and their career moving forward.
My whole point on this is I just think at
some point you need to move on and stop doing
more damage because the more that you make a stink
out of this, the more people are going to investigate
and look into this, and they're gonna look around baseball
and go, well, then if you're allowed to do this,
(19:53):
and what about somebody who did this? And what about
somebody It's like, man, at some point, you got to
move forward and just get them with kid. You got
Baseball butcher this. I blame mb for butchering this. They
could have handed down a harsh punishment, and instead of
doing that, they let these players off and they gave
him immunity. And part of that immunity came with the
power of their players Association, which Cody Bellinger at some
(20:16):
point in his career and other players are going to
benefit from no debt. John and Nashville, you're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What you got, John,
what's up, guys? I've got a five point punishment designed
that I think that if Major League Baseball implemented it,
it would make it so devastating. No team would ever
try this stuff again. All right, that's here, real quick,
all right. Number one, first, they got to forfeit the
(20:39):
World Series. That's a given. Number two a ten year
postseason ban for the organization. Hey years, wow, hey years.
Three lifetime band for the coaches in the GM. If
you're going to do it to Pete Rose, you'd better
do it to them. Number four, players, manages, and coaches
must forfeit all bonuses and salary a crew during postseason.
(21:01):
And number five, the team must forfeit all ticket and
merchandise sales associated with the postseason. All right, that's the
death penalty. John, I hear you. I was gonna say,
are you a high school principal? Yeah? I was gonna say,
O with lethal injection and the electric chair off the table.
I mean, that ain't no Joe. But but to his point,
(21:21):
they could have laid down the hammer, and they didn't
do it. They let the Astros punish themselves. And when
like when you're a kid, could you imagine if your
parents said to you, all right, so here's the deal.
Either we can punish you or you can punish yourself.
Are you really gonna like lay the hammer down on yourself.
I would say, yes, Okay, I'll stay in my room
and watch the Golden Girls. We run to the calcut. Yeah.
(21:43):
Like so when Major League Baseball allowed that to happen,
this is where all of this got out of control.
Marty in Kentucky, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Marty? What's up? Fellas Um? I
gotta agree with Jonas as much as it pains me
to agree with Jonas rude outside of football. Valentine, Marty, Yeah,
(22:04):
you could be mine to everybody. I'll send you some
I'll send you some of them, a little heart shaped
can um. When you're in a union, so great in
any of you, and it doesn't matter if it's sports
related or if you're at a factory, you don't do this.
You that you gotta stick with the strength of that union.
I understand that this crossed the lines because these players
(22:26):
basically took money from other players. Right when you take
MVPs from other players and you take World Series titles,
that's contracts down the road. But they're going to make
them a lot of money. But you just can't do
it because you're that's the organization that protects you, no doubt, Marty.
Thanks to squeeze in Richard real quick from What's Virginia
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Richard?
(22:48):
I just think in a case like that now you're
talking about baseball, but to me, there could be any
sport or even life. I just think if you know
somebody's doing something wrong or per or team, I think
that you should be able to report them for doing
it to they were appropriate people, and there should be
no repercussion or retaliation. That's why we have like the
(23:11):
whistleblower law in this country. You know what I mean? Yeah,
that allows. That's what I like about our president. He's
doing something and no other president did. He's calling people out.
I think you should be. I think that should be
something that should happen. But you do get retaliated against,
and unfortunately it just gets stitches. But it shouldn't work
(23:33):
that way. If you know something's wrong, you should be
able to report it and be honest about it and
just tell it the way it is. No doubt, which
I don't know about the I listen. I have no
issue with Mike Fires, not at all. He's a hero
and he's a hero. And again, like Cody Bellinger actually
came in studio here one time, could not be a
nicer guy, and you could tell he's very fired up.
(23:55):
He was a great guy, a great dude. But I
just feel like there are people around him and Players
Association and other players in the league that are probably saying, guys,
we get it, you got you got screwed. It's terrible.
We got to move forward because if we break apart
this union, all the leverage that we have gained over
all these years, Like they gave up a World Series.
That's that's how that's how strong, that's sacrifice. That was
(24:16):
the first time in series, no doubt about it. All Right,
is it time to worry about Kawhi and the Clippers?
NBA TV analysts say Ku Smith has the answer next.
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox Sports

Fox Sports Radio Rob Parker Jonas Knox in for Chris Bussard,
and we're coming to you live from the Geico Fox
Sports Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent of
more carn shorts with Geico. Go to Geico dot com
or call eight hundred and nine four seven auto. The
only hard part is figuring out which is easier. Always
(25:00):
great to welcome in a close friend of mine, a
long time friend and one of the best in the business,
say Coo Smith from NBA TV. He's an analyst and
the host of the hang Time podcast, Say Coo, say
hi to Jonas Knocks. What's happening? I'm Jonas Rob. What's up?
Are y'all doing? What's happening to? Say Coo? All right,
So I gotta ask you, because you've known Rob Parker
a long time, what's the cheap what's the cheapest thing
(25:23):
you've ever seen? Rob Parker? Deal? Listen, man, I'm not
knocking Rob. You got me a haircut during the two
thousand and four finals. If you know how hard it
is to get a haircut in somebody's finals, he had
a shot we can go to. That's right. We got
we gotta love from Rob for life. Man, you don't okay,
there you go, my man, say Coo. So, so let's
(25:44):
let's are you in Chicago now? Yeah, I'm a bit
freezing Ron I'm talking about and you know, I'm from
Graham's mission, so cold weather usually doesn't bother me. But
it is Keith threatening up here, you know what. I'm
on my way, I'm flying in the morning and it's today.
It was seventy four in Las. I looked at the
temperature of Chicago. I was like, do I really want
to go? I'm like questioning whether I should even venture
(26:06):
out that way. But let's talk about the Clippers. They
lost last night in double overtime. Paul George wound up
getting hurt and didn't play much in that game. Kauhai
has been doing the load management. Patrick Beverley has a
growing issue. Are you concerned or should people be concerned
(26:28):
about health issues? And the Clippers. Look, I think you
should always be nervous when guys are going down like that,
you know, when it's more than just one or two guys,
but it's a team wide thing where you know you
can't seem to get everybody healthy at the same time.
But I'm nervous, No, I mean, I think you understand
(26:48):
if you're the Clippers, the measure of your season it's
gonna be taken after April. It's not gonna be what
happens in February, what happens down the stretch. It's not
even a big deal where you land in terms of
seating in the Western Conference, because you're good enough to
get to the Western Conference finals from wherever, from whatever
position you're in. But you do need to be slightly
(27:10):
concerned with the injury histories of both Paul George and
Kawhi Leonard and then that supporting cast. You just gotta be,
you know, keep one eye open about what could be,
you know, in terms of issues later on in the season.
And it's why you develop all that depth and make
sure you got guys ready to step up and step
into those roles. If your big guys are down, say cool,
(27:31):
I'm with you. I've been arguing with people on TV
and radio for because it's about how you finish and
you get yourself together. Despite all the stuff and them
not being together and people been ending out of the lineup.
They're the third seed and the team that's in front
of them that they need to beat. They beat the
Lakers twice, one without Paul George and one with well
the other thing. You know, people ask me, you know now,
(27:53):
like who you think wins the championship at the same
time last year, the Toronto Raptors would have never came
out of my mouth, not one time. You could ask
me a hundred times who I think is gonna win
it all last year, and I wouldn't have said to
Ronto if they were a team that came together, got
hot at the right time, had all the best breaks
go their way in terms of injuries to other teams,
and they got they got it done when it mattered most.
(28:15):
So you got to give the Clippers the fighting chance
with their makeup, with their depth, with a coach like
Doc Rivers and the star you know like Kawhi Leonard
and another star like Paul George, that they'll have a
chance to get it done when it matters and have
those guys step up and help him win a championship.
Say who Smith joining us here on Fox Sports Radio
from NBA TV, Jonas Knox, Rob Parker in for Chris
(28:38):
Brussard here it is the odd couple on FSR, Say who, So,
Jason Tatum is having the best year of his career,
Jaylen Brown, best year of your career. The Celtics are
better this year than last and on top of that
they just look happier. How much of a bad look
is this for Kyrie Irving coming off the year he
out a year ago that I feel bad popum on
(29:00):
Kyrie liked this um you know, he's like he's liked
that girlfriend you had to you know, put you through it.
And then that next girl girlfriend you get thinks you
the man of the year, you know, because you don't
have all this, you know. And and it's really not
about that. It's really about the maturation of the guys
who left behind. Jason Tatum is just blossomed him to
the player we thought he was two years ago, you know.
(29:23):
And Jalen Brown was the number one ranked high school
player in his class before he ever hit the NBA.
And people act like that that didn't happen, like he
came out of nowhere. Are these are talented guys. And really,
instead of coaching Kyrie, I like him, give praise to
timber Walker for coming in and being a conduit for
those guys to be their best selves. You know. Gardon
(29:43):
Hayward is a year healthier, Brad Stevens a year smarter
and wiser after the experience he had coaching Kyrie. So
it's not just about not having Kyrie around. It's about
what everybody learned in that year having him, that you
can't have any dysfunction or any you know, any disruptions
(30:04):
in your chemistry if you're talking about all of your
guys playing to their highest level, and right now, Boston
to me as anybody to Milwaukee, the Lakers and the
Clippers in terms of winning the championship. Now you're at
the All Star Game, and of course the game is
on Sunday. I don't know, I know people kind of
rip on the NBA All Star Game. I get it.
(30:26):
I don't know what else. The leaguing's like the Pro
Bowl and the NFL. It's just hard to get people
to play defense and do you know, play a game
rather than just making an exhibition. Um, it's not like
the old days a little bit. Do you remember when
they froze out Michael Jordan and this first All Star
that would never happen to think about that, that they
(30:47):
wouldn't pass the ball of Michael Jordan. We're talking about
Isaiah Thomas and Larry Bird. Can you imagine what would
happen that if that went on today? Yeah, I mean
I would love to. I would love to see you know,
Lebron and some of the elders, you know, freeze out
one of these nine first time off the side. Don't
give them the ball. That would be comedy because we
know it wouldn't happen. But so Rock. The other thing
(31:10):
I recognize now after coming to you know, gosh, I
don't know, this is like my eighteenth to nineteen NBA
all start weekend working. Um, they don't. People don't understand
the amounts of attention the weekend gets. I got in here,
you know, Thursday morning, and there were people from New York,
you know, la flying in from all over the place,
(31:31):
just people coming to hang out all Star weekend, you know,
and they're giving each other DApp in the airport, hugging
like people. This is a this is a reunion for people.
So for the game to be anything more than the
exhibition will take more energy, I think than everybody has. Despairments.
You get tired just walking around and enjoying the site
and being in this environment. To get out there and
(31:52):
play a serious competitive game when the weekend is filled
with parties and glad handing and you know, everybody to
get a chance to see each other and reminisce that
would be a lot to put into one weekend of
basketball to make it about the game and not about
the environment and the scene as well. You're right, I
get that. And there was a couple of years back
(32:13):
when the All Star Game was held in the Las
Vegas and I was in a cab. Let's say, cool,
you could you could you could attest to this, And
the cab driver said to me, I've never seen this
many black people in Las Vegas, say cool, you know
it is a reunion. You're right. Let me ask you say,
(32:33):
let me ask you this, I say, Coo Smith of
NBA TV with us here on Fox Sports Radio. I mean,
and I'm not saying you because you're a professional. Rob
Parker has told me you were there to work. You
are there to do your research. But I'll just ask
you this, like if you're just you know, sort of
another reporter covering the NBA, what percentage of this weekend
is work and what percentages play? Oh, it's definitely, you know,
(32:59):
play in a very minimal amount of half hardest work.
I mean, and you know the funniest part of Rob
you bring up Vegas, which is a great example. I'll
never forget. I was at the MGM and I'm talking
to one of the guys who works at the hotel
when I'm checking in, and he's bragging me about how
this is Love Vegas. We do world class event. This
(33:20):
is just a you know, another event for us, No
big deal. We can handle this All Star crowd. And
I'm thinking to myself, whether you have no idea what
you are in for. The All Star crowd is kryptonite
to anything. They can walk through a storm. You could
have the All Star Game in Antarctica and they would
the party. Or you don't want The time I checked
(33:42):
out of that hotel at the end of All Star Weekend,
that dude looked like he'd be run over by the truck,
you know, because you don't. You can't race yourself. For
the amount of people who the first time they've ever
really been away from their own environment is when they
make that leap and decide I'm going to NBA All
Star Weekend. My dad and his buddies did it when
I was a little kid. They would get together and
(34:05):
drive to wherever the Austar game was if it was close,
you know, somewhere near where we lived in the Midwest.
And they would go party doing this and this is
so it's like, this is not something new, this is
not a new phenomena. Also, NBA All Star Weekend has
attracted a certain crowd for generations and it's not changing.
And here's the other thing. When Fergie did the national
(34:26):
anthem that was so bad and people were ripping her,
one of the scenes that they showed was Draymond Green
laughing like we totally buried the lead. Draymond Green looked
like he had been on a four day bender. Okay,
that we completely buried the lead. He was parting all weekend.
He had to have been crazy. Hey, say, of course,
oh you're right, But say Coo, man, we appreciate you.
(34:47):
We gotta run. I'll see you in Chicago, all right,
I'll beat it. Yeah, Man, get out here, Rob, bring
a trip of you already know and my long John's
the ones that I want to add article. Say Coop
Smith from NBA TVs and analyst and the host of
hang Time the podcast. All right, Ay, Rod is set
and setting himself to win in in ways that Derek
(35:09):
Jeter could only dream of. I'll explain that's coming up next.

about They've got nothing else to do Friday. They're gonna

Little Caesars, where you can get any kind of Little
Caesars pizza you want when you order online and get
it delivered now at Little Caesar's Delivery, available from participating locations.
Delivery fees apply. So what about this story Alex Rodriguez
has really no made made up like an unbelievable change
(36:20):
of where he was at the end of his playing
career as Prasada non grata and the whole PDPDS thing
to the face of baseball. And I'm talking about announcing
where he's on. Not only that Fox and ESPN share him,
which they've never done. Yeah, have you ever seen a
guy who's on prominent broadcasts shared by two networks and
(36:43):
now he wants to buy the mess and the ultimate
getting rewarded for bad behavior like this, like he took
performance enhancing drugs. This wasn't the only one. No, I
get it, light just light about it, pursued it and
still light about it multiple times. And then you fast
forward five years later and he's got every prominent job
(37:05):
in baseball. It's unlike the most incredible turnaround. It's so
astonishing that will say that I have to celebrate him.
You got and you gotta give him credit. He's really good,
really good, and he works his ass off. He does.
Anybody who can listen to him and say he's not
good is biased. He's really good playing baseball. He's really good.
He is very good. And now what do you get
(37:26):
the idea about him putting together a group and buying
the Mets? What's the price, rob g what are he's
saying three billion dollars two point six billion dollars to
buy the Mets? I mean, and he would be in
a better spot than Jeter though, who's trying to rebuild
the Miami Marlins. Yeah, it's uh, if you were to
(37:50):
get look compare their careers whatever you want to say,
Jeter is going to be the more celebrated player. But
when it turns to post career, I mean a Rods
hit it out of the park, no pun intending so far,
and Jeter's been heavily criticized for his handling of the Marlins,
breaking apart that rod Hip the team down. People don't
want to go. I think they average nine or ten
thousand fans, bad man. And and on top of that,
(38:12):
that's the same team who wanted funding from the community,
got funding from the community, went out and signed all
these players, and then just sold them all away. Right,
And the fact that that worked twice and they've got
World serious is the most insane part of the well,
the whole thing. And you're so right that if you're
a Dodger fan, you're like still looking for your right
world series since nineteen eighty eight. And the Marlins mark twice. Yeah,
(38:36):
the Marlins who wants twice? Who can't decide whether they're
Florida or Miami, and they've got like a tilted world
in the back wheel, like if some ferris wheel behind
the outfield. Yeah, it's it's terrible. I mean, they could
have in the same outfield right now, Christie Yelich and
Gencarlo Stanton might they had them both. It's unbelievable, unbelievable,
But it will be interested to see honest thing plays
(38:58):
out all right. Second now of the couple's coming up,

We got ourselves another accusation in the NFL. We will
(39:42):
get to that here coming up in just a moment.
On all of our Fox Sports Radio affiliates, wherever you
are taking part in this program. As always, we appreciate
a few minutes to your time. Rob Parker is gearing
up for a trip to the Windy City, which I
believe by the time he gets there major just be
uh and just any glue from what I'm seeing the
(40:03):
reports of weather in Chicago, it's just gonna be a
giant aglue there. It is not looking good. But I
guess I did go to Antarctica, so I'm gonna have
to just tough it out. Now, are you gonna go
do some shopping there on Michigan Avenue? You got to
my I'm off the shopping kick. How long has it
been now? I am, rob G. Don't shake your heads.
You're so full of I have not brought a pair
of sneakers. Rob G, can you confirm we see me? No,
(40:25):
it's been six weeks. You're an addict, all right. You're
gonna be walking down Michigan Avenue and there's gonna be
windows with sales signs in the front. I can't do it.
Tell me, tell you something. There's there's an H and
M on Michigan. Alum, I'm not doing it. H and
M would fit you well. It's it fits the slim body,
the slender body. Well, I'm not doing m Michigan Avenue.
(40:46):
I'm not doing it. And no sneakers, rob right, Alex,
have you seen me bringing a new pair of sneakers?
You know? I was buying like a pair every week
and four a month now five of a month. Now,
let me ask you this because you what's your face
ritt sneaker in the world Jordan's? Okay? Where did Michael
Jordan play basketball in Chicago? Where is there a lot
(41:08):
of Jordan's in Chicago? Yeah, so you'd say, and where
are you going this weekend to Chicago? Okay? So if
you're on Michigan Avenue and you happen to walk by
a place, and I'm just gonna put you to the
test here, all right, So a brand new Parrot Jordan's
that you don't own costs what generally fifty bucks? I
don't have that kind of money. Hold on, hold on
that right? Here's sure he don't. Yeah, as he's as
(41:30):
he's handling his EXPENSI report all right. So if you
if you walk down and you see a brand new
pared Jordan's in the window that are normally two fifty
and they're eighty nine ninety nine. What are you doing now?
That's hard because that's such a great deal because you're
you're reaching for your credit card like your doc holiday
(41:52):
in Tombstone. So what I would do? Are you ready
for this? I would buy him. Then I would talk
to my nephew and say I found a Christmas present.
I want send me ninety dollars, so that he'll send
me to ninety dollars. I'll send them the sneakers and
then he can send it to me for Christmas. Wait
a second, do you hold on it? Hold on a second?
Hold So I really didn't buy it, So there's a
(42:14):
Christmas So you're showing discipline in not shopping, yet unable
to show discipline enough to not be cheap. What I okay?
It's like it's like somebody who's got an issue with
drugs and alcohol and they're like, hey, I have not
had a sip of vodka in six months. Yeah, but
you got a needle hanging out of your arm right now,
(42:35):
So what are we talking about here? But it really
wouldn't come for me, my nephew, like they're always looking
for something to buy me. I mean I always tell
them don't get me anything. I don't need anything after
And if I was able to see something like that,
I would say, Okay, I got an idea. I saw
these drawings I would love for Christmas. I'm not really
buying sneakers, and they would say how much all I
would say ninety bucks. Okay, I'll send it to him.
(42:57):
He'll send me a check or uh has shot me
night after what you pulled at McDonald's up the road
last week. I mean, this is I don't like at
some point, so I'll let Rob okay go ahead. Should
we do it later on? Should we set it up
for letter Rob Garrets? Should we talk about the scam
Rob Parker pulled at McDonald's later on Ian McDonald's and
open up, Oh yeah, the brand new McDonald's, and I'll
(43:19):
probably shut down after what you pulled. Uh, So we
will get to that here at some point, Rob Parker,
all right, so let's get to uh, let's get to this.
So you remember, like a while back, Rob Parker, when
um so Miles Garrett took off Mason Rudolph's helmet and
then hit him over the head with us. You remember
that was on National TV. It was a Fox game
it was Steelers browns Uh, it was for for you know,
(43:41):
I know, violent, whatever you want to call it. I
was saying at the time it was phenomenal television. It was,
but it was great TV. I mean, you know, it's like,
come on, like it's it's it's not ideal, but either
a car accidents and everybody stops to look at him.
So it was. It was an incredible moment. I don't
think a moment that nobody you'll forget. Well afterwards, Myles
(44:03):
Garrett and this was way afterwards, after his apology, after
his explanation, said that Mason Rudolph used a racial slur.
Well that sort of got ignored. It's been months and
months and we finished the football season and Miles Garrett
was reinstated. Well, he sat down recently with Meta Kimes
(44:23):
of ESPN and he talked about the allegation call me
a stupid N word. I don't like, I don't say
the N word. Whether it's you know, with a R
to me personally just shouldn't be said, and whether it's
known by family, friends anyone. So when he said it,
no kind of sparked something. But I still tried to
(44:45):
let it go and still walk away. Once he came back,
it kind of no kind of reignited this situation. So
that was Myles Garrett doubling down on the use of
a racial slur by Mason Rudolph back in their game
on Thursday Night Football that involved the helmet being ripped
off and bashed over that. Okay, you want me to
jump in. I think he's full of crap. That's what
(45:11):
I believe. Why, Okay, because I think he went into
his meeting with the NFL and he was trying to
get out of a lesser punishment and I and some sympathy,
and I think that he walked into that meeting and
he made the claim that there was a racial slur used,
not thinking that the details of the meeting with the
NFL we're going to get made public, which they did
(45:32):
come out. And now that it's been made public, he
can either say, well, you know, I just I spoke
out of turn and apologize for it and just admit
that he was lying, or he can double down on it,
and it's exactly what he did. He doubled down on it,
and he doubled down on it because there is no
proof that Mason Rudolph didn't say it. But let me
tell you this, if in the heat of the moment,
(45:54):
social media is coming down on me, the NFL's coming
down on me, fans are coming down on me, Opposing
players are coming down on me for an act, a
violent act that could have killed somebody on national television.
That's the moment when you let everybody know, Hey, what
I did was wrong. But that guy called me the
N word. He never said a peep. It wasn't until
(46:15):
days later and after an apology to Mason Rudolph. Well,
I don't know, Rob, Listen, I've never been called the
N word before. But if somebody did call me the
N word and I was black, I wouldn't apologize and
then continue on with my anger. I would have said
something at the time. He didn't. He waited until his
meeting with the NFL. He didn't think it was going
(46:36):
to be made public, and then when it was, he
had no choice but to double down after he refused
to acknowledge that what he said was a lie. That's
what I believe. He's my problem. I don't know what
was said. He claims it. Mason Rudolph says no, and
you know, whatever, you have a he said she said,
you would think that people wouldn't do that. I mean,
you don't want to just be thrown that out. Mason
(46:57):
Rudolph has to live with it. If it's false, fair
and if Mason Rudolph did say it, then then he
should be absolutely pushed back on and people have the
right to come down on him. My biggest issue is,
I can't believe you say, like you know what Mike's around,
but there are other players who were in that scrum.
They weren't. It wasn't Mono Imano and nobody else was there.
(47:20):
I can't believe that that was said. Nobody else heard it,
and if the other black players heard it. Seriously, why
are they protecting Mason Rudolph. He's not a star, he's
not big band, he's not celebrated, there's no He's a
backup quarterback who's not even that good. What do they
what do they owe him to protect him? If that
(47:41):
guy said that in a locker room. We know the
NFL's what almost seventy percent black, right? Yes? So what what? What?
Why would you protect Mason Rudolph? That's that would be
my issue. Why nobody else heard that? I just I
can't believe you could be that close. Do you remember
when you see the players jump on a jump on
Garrett right after after swung the help Remember when Mike
(48:04):
Pouncey got suspended. I think he got suspended for two
games or a game, or maybe he was fine. I
forget the exact punishment because he used the N word,
like Mike Pouncey, like like they hear it, like like
it's clearly heard, and that was that was a black
player who was using it. If a white player used
it all h Riley Cooper years ago. If you remember
that disaster, then it's gonna be a bigger story. But
(48:26):
there's one person saying that Mason Rudolph said the N
word and nobody else, Like it's not it's not like
nobody else heard it, No Mike anywhere, and like he's
some of the later comments he had were like almost
alluding to the fact that it was a cover up,
and there was this it was It's like, man, what
why would it be a cover up? All they need
(48:47):
is one Pittsburgh steal that has said, dude, I heard it,
and yes, and nobody said it, and I'm still waiting.
I can't believe he whispered it in his ear, I'm
I'm serious. If you would to say that in an
angry moment, wouldn't you wouldn't it blurt out? I'm just
ask yes, would wouldn't it? Or or did you just
(49:09):
with rude? Are you? Are you asking me to try
it on the air? I want you to hold onto you?
You know? But but in all kidding is liked Yes,
one you would say it out of anger. It would
be out of anger. It would be a it would
be loud, it would be other people are are within
earshot of it. If you when you were when you
were a kid and you got in a fight with somebody,
(49:29):
whether it be a sibling or a kid at school,
and the kid did something, but everybody was coming down
on you for retaliating, wouldn't one of the first thing
you said? Would but wait a second he started because
he did. That was never said in the heat of
the moment. Never said. It was days later talking to
the NFL when the accusation was made. I think that
if it were the case, and to say why I
(49:50):
came undone and I went off berserk, I would have
said that right in the in the locker room, right
after the right to multiple opportunities said, dude, this dude
set me off. I don't like that word. I've never
been called it, and it it fired me up. It
took something. It changed me. And let me tell you something,
and you know what I mean. And then I would
(50:11):
be like, okay, well, well that's maybe why he snapped.
Because swinging a helmet, and I keep telling everybody, dude,
me and you could get into an argument. Me and
you could get into a fight as soon as I
go to the car and get a bat. It's criminal. Yeah, swinging,
swinging a helmet. He's lucky he didn't tear his eye out,
(50:32):
or he's like or he didn't puncture his ear draw
or the or the or the or the crown of
the helmet down and he hit him on the top
of the head. I mean, everybody's seen the movie Unfaithful.
You take a snow globe to a guy's head when
you find out he's been sleeping with your wife. Bad
things are gonna happen. Okay, bad things are gonna happen.
But I think this is what he did is no
(50:52):
matter what happens, because there's no real way for Mason
Rudolph to prove that he didn't do it. That's the
terrible thing. It is like it no other way you
could say I didn't say it, Yes, but it's out there.
And and now, like you said, he just doubled down
on this new latest interview. And I don't know. I mean,
I'm saying I find it. I just couldn't imagine making
(51:12):
that story up. But I just I think it just
because he didn't talk about it right away doesn't mean
it didn't. I don't know. I wasn't there, but I
will say if you would, if I would have weighed
both stories, it would be hard for me to be
on his side, only because he didn't bring it up,
and only because nobody else heard it. And I don't
believe that another black player heard it, who was in
(51:34):
that scrum, who's protecting Mason Rudolph. I don't believe that
it's he ruined Mason Rudolph's career, like it's what he did,
like he ruined his career, because Mason Rudolf has no
ability to prove that it didn't happen, because it's just
such an outlandish claim. If nobody heard it, but one
person is saying it did. That's why I'm wondering, is
there is there grounds for some sort of illegal action
(51:56):
by Mason Rudolph and his team like they did they
file a defamation suit. I don't know a damn thing
about law, but that's one thing that I've thought about,
because that is that is a damning accusation to make
that changes the course of your career, how people look
at you. It's it's really and that's why you heard
from Have you heard from Riley Cooper since he left
the NFL? I haven't. No. Yeah, it was a miracle
(52:18):
that he even stuck around after that, it's it's over,
and I think he got a contract extension afterwards. If
I'm not mistaken, I think I almost positively got a
contract extension. But the point being, well he did. Yeah,
Once you're labeled as that or somebody makes an accusation
like that, if you have no ability to prove that
it was wrong, there's going to be a segment of
the population. There's going to be certain fans that absolutely,
(52:41):
one hundred percent believe that you are a racist and
you said the word. It's terrible, man. Oh yeah, it's
it's a tough spot to be in. Terrible, all right. Uh,
Rob Parker, Jonas Knox in for Chris Brusart, It is
the Odd Couple here on Fox Sports Radio. Eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox is the phone number? Eight
(53:02):
seven seven nine nine six six three six nine. Are
you buying the Miles Garrett claim after he doubled down
on the racial slur used by Mason Rudolph several months ago?
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. We'll get to
your calls and more that coming up next here on
Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of
(53:23):
The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays
at seven pm Eastern, four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeartRadio app. It is the Odd Couple
here on Fox Sports Radio. Rob Parker Jonas Knox in
for Chris Brussard here on FSR. We will get to
your reactions on the Miles Garrett claim doubling down on
(53:46):
Mason Rudolph's use of a racial slur, So we will
get to that here eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three six
nine that I'll be coming up here in just a
moment on Fox Sports Radio. This NBA All Star Selebrity
Game is the worst TV I've ever seen. This is
right up there with that disaster of event that we
(54:06):
were on the air for the Phil Nicholson Tiger Woods
Challenge in Las Vegas. You remember that? Oh yeah, I
got one of my favorite shows I've ever done on
radio because literally it was three hours of Rob Parker
and I trying to piss off golf fans by telling
him what h I was blist? Great, Yeah, this is
this is atrocious? Whatever This All Star Celebrity Game is like,
(54:29):
like who gives a crap? Like which which guy from
ninety eight degrees just hit a twenty foot jumper? Like
who cares? Like what is the point of this? Like this?
And you're going to this event, Rob Parker. I'm not
going to that event, but I'm going to the All
Star Game. And something tells me if tickets were free,
you'd be at this event. If you were there, I
don't know. I'll probably give me a nice steak or something.
(54:50):
In Chicago. All right, eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
That's right. A Rod is in Austin, Texas, listening here
on Fox Sports Radio. Rod, You're on the A couple
here on FI Sports Radio. What are you making this,
Miles Garrett claim, well, I think being I might Aggie too.
I think he just needs to chill out. And I
don't believe it. I don't know who would believe it,
(55:11):
you know. I think he just went wild and he
can't he won't admit to it. And also, when can
I talk about the h I would like to talk
about the astros and the dog to seeing my everybody's
forgetting about Hey wait wait Rod, Well, we'll talk about
that later on in the final out of the program.
We'll have another opportunity for you. Braden is in Oregon
listening here on Fox Sports Radio, bradon What's happening? Hey, guys,
(55:34):
I'm glad to get on and talk to one of
the biggest haters, Rob Parker. Is that what I am?
Thank you, Rob Parker. Hey, I'll take it. I'll take it.
I'm glad of on the air. But my take is
this is like when Miles Garrett stacked him. They were
on the ground and nobody was around, and like Mason
Rudolph was all up in his face, and when Miles
(55:55):
Garrett got up, he was so pissed off, and that's
when he ripped his helmet off and he went after him,
and you know, like you say that, he didn't say
anything for a couple of days, but I'm pretty sure
it was the next day that he said something to
the fact that he said that, Yeah, it wasn't the
next now, it wasn't the next invac. Josina Anderson posted
(56:15):
something on Twitter right after it happened, saying, well, he
must have used a racial slur, and then the post
exactly come on, all right, Mike is in Mississippi here
on Fox Sports Radio, Mike, what's happening? Hey, what's up, guys?
Um A couple of things on the Miles Garret thing.
First off, I agree with the previous guy. I think
that if you look at first time, I look at
(56:35):
how Tomlin treated the whole situation. He called out Rudolph
like a couple of weeks after, you know, just blasted him.
You don't do that unless you're sending a message to
the locker room that you know, hey, this dude, this
dude screwed up. It's not cool and I'm calling him out.
He straight up tried to embarrass him because he played
like the NFL tries to, you know, they have mics everywhere.
(56:58):
I find it really convenient that they just happen to
have any recording of this whole interactions that would have
exonerated Rudolph. So I find that real fishy too. I
just and nobody nobody hurt. I'm just I don't know.
And dude, all right, I don't know. I would I
would hope that Miles Garrett wouldn't fool around and and
(57:20):
and seriously put that out there if it wasn't true.
You know, you know, at some point, at some point,
you either believe that Bigfoot is real or you start
to get honest with yourself and say, no, it's just
my uncle Joe. He had a fit the Jack Daniels
and he shaved the dog and glued it to himself,
(57:41):
all right, Like that's at some point you just gotta
be honest about it. And at some point, maybe just
the realistic truth is Mason Rudolph didn't say it like,
I mean, it's okay. At some point you just have
to acknowledge it. Albert's in South Florida here on Fox
Sports Radio. Albert, what's happening? How are you doing? You haven't, Albert?
How are you about? What's that I thought happen with
(58:02):
the South? Yeah? Well, that's that's why it's hard for
me to go to Chicago in the morning. I feel
your pain, but I call it because I think it's
a tough situation. Number One, um, if he did it,
it's terrible. Number two, if Rudolph fit say that. But
number three, why wouldn't the guy say right away? And
he called me the N words. So nobody really knows
(58:23):
but those two guys and the man above what really happened.
But it's a shame because you can't really approve it
either way. You know, no again, and that's why the NFL,
I mean, what could they do to There's nothing they
could do it, so he said, he said, and you
know that. I mean, if you were to go to court,
thanks for the call, aub, but appreciate it. There's nothing
you could do. I mean, remember when David Stern did
(58:44):
that interview with Jim Rome and he said, like Jim
Rome asked him a question, and David Stern said, have
you stopped beating your wife? It's like one of those
things to where you were painted into a corner where
you can't really get out clean. Because there's no way
for Mason Rudolph to say it again. There's no way
to prove that I didn't say it. It's just like
(59:04):
it's just the fact that he would go there. And
you've got players on the Steelers that are saying, man,
what are you talking about? Like that never happened. It
just I don't know. I wonder how I wonder what
the response to to Myles Garrett is moving forward? People
forget this story, all right, and and this sort of
got buried. And I remember talking about this on my
show after it happened. You remember that that story that
(59:27):
came out last year where Miles Garrett went to social
media and said a fan attacked him, punched him through
the window of his car Cleveland. Whatever happened to that?
Everyone said, old, they found the guy, They found the
guy who did it, and nobody got arrested, nothing, no
charges pressed, no nothing like, nothing ever happened to that.
It just when you hear this stuff, it just makes
(59:48):
you wonder, was Miles Garrett also b essing about that story?
Remember what happened? I don't think anything like nothing happened.
I can I looked it up, Like they said, all
they identified a guy who did it. But it's like,
so your Miles Garrett somebody punches you in the face,
and instead of you going after him, you posted on
social media and don't do anything about it. It doesn't
(01:00:11):
add up to me like that. That's why I have
a hard time buying this story. It's it's a it's
a tough spot. I'm telling you. Whenever you whenever you're
in that he said, he said, or whatever place, and
it really there's one person's word against other, and I
don't know how you sort it out. Usually you need
an audio tape or something. That's what took Donald Sterling
(01:00:33):
down right. Absolutely you could hear for yourself. There was
no if if his side piece had said the same
exact thing and she said the same exact thing and
was quoted right, everybody would say she's a scorn lover.
Bah bah, Bob wouldn't believe it. All right, Yeah, but
once you have the audio, it's all over. By the way,
(01:00:55):
I was meaning to ask you a real quick and
we're gonna catch up with Dan and Green coming up
here in just a few moments. Are you going to
have a dinner or at least get a drink with
your buddy in Chicago where you're out there? Who's that
Jesse Smallett. Oh yeah, I don't think he might be busy.
He might be a night coord all right. It is

do not go anywhere. We've got that for you. Next

It is the odd couple here on Fox Sports Radio.
He is Rob Parker. I'm Jonas Knox in for Chris Brussard.
Coming up in fifteen minutes. From now here on FSR.
Do Not Go Anywhere. It is the most controversial and
hotly debated topic anywhere in America. Right and it's fifteen
minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio. Right now though,
(01:02:20):
he is Dan and Green, actor, writer, comedian, and a
two time Golden Gloves champion joining us here on Fox
Sports Radio. Dannon, thanks so much for the time. Jonas Knox,
Rob Parker here, it's on the Aco. What's happening. I
really appreciate you guys having me Rob. What how you doing?
Jonas the thousand guy? Appreciate you man? How about that?
(01:02:40):
That's pretty impressive. God, I didn't I didn't know my
Facebook was still open. I didn't still up. He saw
it on your MySpace. Okay, that's good. No, No, that
was that was a police records very good. All right, good.
It's a long one. So there's a lot of roo.
So tell us about the documentary. Obviously got a history
in boxing. Was this something you always wanted to be
(01:03:03):
a part of. Yes, we're really quick. You know. I
grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Um I started boxing there
and um I used to box for a gym. It
was called the Executioners m I boxed as a kid.
I came in second in nineteen eighty one in the
Junior Olympics and then in the Philadelphia for the Philadelphia title.
And then I had to move because I lost my mom.
So I didn't box for a while, and I got
(01:03:25):
back into boxing back when I went to college. I
did my undergrad in a small school in Iowa, U
for computer animation, and then I got when got my
master's in Ohio State. So when Apple was while while
in grad school undergrad, I started training again and I
was training in Davenport, Iowa, and I wind up get
an opportunity to work with Michael Nunn for three days
(01:03:46):
and it kind of got my juices going. That's when
I started fighting, and I started, you know, fighting in
the gloves and I want the novels that I want
to open, and I lost to go to the Nationals.
By fight fall forward on, um I moved to California.
It became a standard comic actor writer, and then UM
I went home to do a show. One time I
(01:04:06):
found out that one of my trainers, Frank Tayler, who
was one of the guys who started the gym, was
still alive from another member of my team. So all
what happened was I started thinking about the gym and
what these two men did and robbers. You know, being
a New Yorker in the city, you know, we used
to all those men that used to always it would
always be one of the two guys that would saved
(01:04:28):
the neighborhood and save a couple of kids, you know
what I mean. And these guys wind up opening up
a gym called the Executioners and wind up having a
record from seventy five to eighty five, probably know the
best in the country, maybe throughout the world. We had
a record of six hundred and thirty four wins and
thirty nine wins and eighty four losses. So we wind up.
(01:04:51):
You know, I spoke with him and I hadn't talked
to this man in about thirty years. And when I
called him, Frank Taylor, I said, you know, this is
Dan and Green. I used to box for you as
a child, and he remembered he's like felt the Street
left South Paul, good fighter. And it really almost made
me cry, Like I have talked to him in years
and he remembered everything about me. Right, So you know what,
what what really caused me to want to do the
doctor role. But if you know that when our options
(01:05:14):
is it caused himself the executioner. Um. And he's from Philadelphia,
so when people hear that, they start thinking be hot
in which I know, be hotman Google. You know we've
met talked a couple of times, but our gym was
before Bernard and we beat Bernard and the amateurs twice,
and uh so I just felt like it was a
story that had to be told because it's it's the
(01:05:35):
first boxing documentary and I wasn't and I don't. I
know you're a boxing fan. Role. This is the first
boxing document we've ever done about a boxing team. There's
never been that. There's never been a boxing if you
google all this is every boxing documentary has been about
an individual fight, an individual fighter, or a situation in boxing.
This is the first about a team. All right, So, um,
(01:05:57):
when when can we see this is out now? Or
is it completed? Or are you still working on it? No? No,
I'm not working on it anymore. It's completed. It's it's
it's it's an hour and thirty five minutes long. The
trailer is done, all my PDFs, everything is done for it.
What we wanted to do. I edited it in some
film festivals. I actually got into the Impact Doc Awards
(01:06:20):
out of Lawya, California, Jonas and I want up getting
an award of recognition from there. And I just had
accepted into a festival out in Delaware. But I wanted
to hold up because what you do, know what you
don't know about some of the Hollywood stuff. They don't
want you to scream. Not so much Hotwood, but the festivals.
They want you to have a showing of your doc
(01:06:42):
anywhere or your movie. They want to feel like you
the first, you know, So I want to see what
happens with some of these other film festivals. I got it.
He's a Dan and Green actor, writer, comedian, two times
Golden Gloves champion, and also a producer for the boxing
documentary The Executioners. We all had a chance. I grew
up on boxing. I'm a die boxing fan. That was
just sort of how we were raised. Saturday nights weren't
(01:07:04):
We didn't have money to go out, but you know,
we had an HBO subscription and we watched HBO boxing everything. Yeah,
well was what was that or go eat? So you know,
he had one or two options and so so I
love boxing. And the one pet peeve I have about
boxing movies is that they don't really tell the true story,
like The Fighter, the Mickey Ward Arturo Gotti movie, or
(01:07:25):
a Mickey Ward movie called The Fighter. Look and you
ask anybody who knows boxing. The greatest moments of Mickey
Ward's career were his fights with Arturo Gotti. Never mentioned
in the movie, never one time mentioned Rocky's great but
it was fictional, like it was sort of based loosely
on a character, but it was fictional. Like the idea
that this is a documentary. I like that because you're
(01:07:46):
not going to pretty it up. It's gonna be honest.
It's gonna be the brutality of the sport and the
inner workings of a team. How difficult was it for
guys to sort of divulge some of their some of
those secrets on camera when a lot of times they
want to keep that stuff hidden, right, Well, what makes it?
I'm gonna tell you what I did. And this is
why I actually feel like this could have won an Oscar,
(01:08:07):
have given opportunity if that Robin Georges. You know, usually
when you see a sports documentary about a team, you
usually see it where they put like in basketball, five
or six ticks of the guys would sit down and
talk about it, or five or six of the football
players or the baseball players, and they would ruminisced, would
correct right. I interviewed each guy separately on purpose because
(01:08:32):
I didn't want them to be influenced by the other
man being in the room. And what happened was these
guys opened up about their personal life, but they knew
about each fighter. So when I would ask them about
a particular fighter on the team, they were able to
talk about him. And what would usually happen when I
would interview the other fighters, he would say something about him.
Where have made the story match up? So this is
(01:08:55):
the first time any type of project has been done
like that. What made it so great for this team?
I would give you. I'll give you one story. One
of the guys that I boxed with his son wind
up becoming an NFL player and winning a Super Bowl.
That's like, that's how crazy it is. And these guys
were all street dudes from West Philadelphia, Um, you know,
(01:09:15):
and they lost the thing about it, They've lost it's
not your Oh this is a you know, a great,
great ending a lot of these guys lost their careers
from making terrible life decisions. It was decisions they made,
but you know, being in the city, you make these
type of decisions. You don't see it as being bad.
But this is one day. I would tell both of
you guys. The strongest thing or the most powerful thing
(01:09:37):
you ever ever hear from a man is when he says,
I wish I would have listened. And that's what some
of these these guys. It's a great it's a great story.
And like you said, Jonas, most of these boxing documentaries
or you know, they show all this fighting, well that
excites everybody, but the story behind why they got involved
in boxes, the story behind why they made their decisions,
(01:09:59):
and the story behind the two men the reason for
them to starting it. You know, one of the men,
Frank Taylor, who's still living and he's a phenomenal trainer,
was a phenomenal trainer. He said when he first started
with the kids, he didn't care about the kids. He
was just trying to build a champ and then after
two weeks his mind was just like two chee the
other to the guy that started and said it was
all about the kids, that's all right, Hey, I can't
(01:10:22):
wait to watch it. Good luck with it and every day.
Thank you and Rob real quick, you're gonna enjoy it too,
because this is thats what it tells some the people
that they're having it. Buddy mcgure from New York, Mark
Breelan's in it. M Carl was probably needed. From the
world champion, Um Rosa Johnson's in it. Um Sam Watson,
who's the phrase of PPC boxing, So you know what
(01:10:45):
I'm saying. And we got Shane Moseley, So I got
some powerful names in it. And it's a great documentary.
And I appreciate you guys letting me come on here
and talk about it and hopefully I can get maybe
you arrived, Jonas, you arrived to come out to the
screening or even think you know, we'll get it. I'd
love to. Man, that's awesome, and congrats on everything, Dan
and and nothing but success headed your way. Man, that's awesome.
(01:11:06):
Though he is the documentary, it is the executioners. We
all had a chance and we're looking forward to it.
Thanks so much, appreciate it. Good luck There he is,

the most controversial topic in all of America right now,
all right, the brutal truth. All right, that's coming up
next here on Fox Sports Radio. Stick and Stay America.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

great Rob Parker. Everybody here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming
up top up next hour. A little over ten minutes
from now here on Fox Sports Radio, we are going
(01:12:12):
to dive into a very it's a controversial topic in
which a little bit of friendly fire is taking place
in the world of sports, and things could get even uglier.
So we'll have that for you here a little over
ten minutes from now on Fox Sports Radio. Before we
get to another just a hot leads discussed item in
(01:12:33):
the world and just in America and beyond. We do
want to let you know we are brought to you
by my Computer Career. Make twenty twenty your year. You
could start your new life as an IT pro and
as little as four months go to my Computer Career
dot edu and take the free career evaluation today. It's
not Rocket Science, It's my Computer Career dot Edu. Rob Parker,
without further ado, it's time. Ain't Nobody's little been a
(01:12:56):
bomb shop? You know that? Ain't nobody? Isn't it? You
would talk about whoever it would talk? Yes, sir, this
shop talked to the Akaba Fox Sports Raider. We do
this every single Friday. We discussed something that was trending
outside of the world of sports. This week's topic. I
don't know if you guys saw this, but there was
a woman on an airplane and she reclined her seat
(01:13:19):
into a man's lap. Now, the guy was sitting in
the back row, so he could not, in turn, recline
his own seat. So we got upset about it and
started gently punching the back of her seat in protest
that she was laying reclined in his lap. So this
sparked a whole outright outrage. You know which side are
you on? This guy or this girl? Well, today the
CEO of Delta went on CNBC and he laid it
(01:13:41):
out pretty clearly. He said that reclining your seat back
is a choice of etiquette and you can't do it
unless you get permission. So here's the question. You guys
travel a lot, what do you think about people who
recline their seats and airplanes? I don't care. Do whatever
you want to do. It doesn't bother me. It bothers me.
I'm six foot four and I always wind up getting
(01:14:02):
behind somebody who immediately and it's usually a smaller five
foot one female. Are you talking about on the plane
or on the plane or immediately like right away goes
and I'm just like that was great radio right there
about Rob Parker. That's right, yeah, so right, he basically
(01:14:23):
know what I'm so in the back of that here,
I have one requirement here when I when I pay
for a flight, uh, don't steer us into the side
of a mountain. That's it. I just want to get
to there. Safely. I don't care. I don't need to
be pampered on the plane. I don't need for the
beers to be super cold. I don't need to have
a full menu. I don't need to even get a
good a good sleep in while I'm on the plane.
(01:14:45):
I don't need the TV in front of me to work.
Just get me there safely, and I'm good. I'm not spoiled.
I'm not like Rob Parker who travels in luxury. He's
on vacation number seventeen so far in the two thousand
and twenty season. I just I don't I don't need
an any of that stuff. This whole outrage about reclining
a seat. Now, the guy, the guy punching her seat,
(01:15:05):
that guy's a douchebag. That's that's a lot. But Rob
G and Alex, who want you guys to chime and
as well? Alex, now you do? I mean, Rob G,
you're not that tall. I'm not making fun of you.
But I'm five seven with shoes on. Okay, So so
you don't kiss somebody if somebody hate it, do you?
I hate it much because I'm short as it is,
and so I don't have a lot of space anyway,
(01:15:27):
you know, with the leg length and stuff like that.
So when you're all on my lap, I'm really really
upset about it. Alex, what about you? All right, Rob,
I'm gonna shock you with mine. Um. Not only did
she maliciously go out of her way to back that
chair up into somebody's space that she did not ask.
I think the gentleman has all the right in the
world to use the back of her seat as a
punching bag to let no, no, you didn't ask them.
Now I'm not gonna ask all in the clear. Wow, Hey,
(01:15:51):
Steve de Seger, is he busy? Steve? Punching bag? Steve?
What about you? Do communication? Please? Do do you party? Steve?
Both parties? Do you want somebody? The president says, you
have to ask somebody that can you recline? Well, that
would be nice, right, that would be common courtesy. What
airline is? This was the Southwest? It looked like a
Southwest seat. That's what it looked like to me. I'm
(01:16:13):
not trying to make clas that's what I'm flying the walls. Well,
I'm gonna have problem. I just like, why, you know,
here's the other pet peeve I have when people start
complaining on social media about airlines. Really insert airline. This
is how you treat your customers. Way way, wait, shut up, man,
Like they're taking you from one place to another that
(01:16:33):
would cost three or four days if you drove, and
you're gonna be there in four hours. I will shut
your ass and deal with whatever you got on the plane.
You paid for it. Move on, They're gonna get you safely.
Just hope you don't end up in the ocean. That's it.
I was on a flight recently and I paid extra
extra sixty dollars for an exit row. When I got
on the flight, it wasn't an exit row, it was
(01:16:55):
right behind it. And I was like, I paid sixty
dollars for a seat without an extra room. So of course,
you know, I was highly upset, and the price of
soda went up forty six. So I complained, and I
complained when we landed, and I complained online and everything,
and of course they refunded me. Of course, you're proud
(01:17:18):
of yourself, aren't you very proud? All right? Wow, unbelievable.

on Monday, so we wished him a speedy recovery. Was
touching go for a minute the other day when we're
doing Undisputed all the way, Jesus, he act like he
was in a coma. No, but he got sick. It's
not often, you know, that you're doing live television from
somebody and they get sick. I mean, thankfully he didn't
barf on the air, right, thank god? Camera. No, No,
(01:18:27):
I bet it's happened. Do you think it's happened. Oh yeah,
I don't know. I mean, you know the XFL that
player barfed on the field during one of the games.
Did he yeah, and did they show it? Yeah, he was.
He was lining up, they were getting ready to run
a play. There was no choice. And then they used
them you know that that chart with the on the screen,
and then they were showing what chunks and well that's good.
Happy dinner and everybody out there listening, Uh, I hope
(01:18:50):
you're enjoying the dinner and a snack on your right
home is Rob Parker just broke down bar and that's
good crazy, it's good for you. But coming up in
his final hour of the program tonight, Gerard Mustov, former
NBA player who's the founder of the of the Street
Ball Association. He was drafted by the Knicks. I covered him. Actually,
(01:19:12):
you will talk to him. You ripped him probably at
some point you could ask him if I ripped him me.
Probably not. He was a good guy. Um. And yes,
it's a funky flashback Friday as well. Alex is on
the ones and twos and doing a nice job tonight.
So what you got You got a beef with me
or something me? We go back and forth. It's not
it's not a beef. It's a I could never like,
(01:19:34):
I could never ever do this, all right, So and
I preface this by saying I was standing next to
you when you decided you were never going to go
to Alpoyo Loco again, because Bob, gee, how many months ago?
Was that? All right? So it's a long time ago, right.
So here at Fox Sports Radio, there are limited options
around the studio to eat. You've got there's a couple
(01:19:56):
of bars across the street, but if you want something fast,
there's one fast food place, it's Alpoio Loco. And then
there's a Whole Foods, which is just a sick, twisted
joke for radio people when you put a Whole Foods there,
which we've dubbed whole paychecks. And for radio people, I
mean there's I mean, what can you afford in there?
You know? A half? I can't. Yeah, I can't do it.
(01:20:16):
I know you're you're struggling there, Rob Parker struggling with
his role but struggling. But yeah, and his role axide
that you can see from space. So so Rob Parker
decided he was going to go over to Alpoio Loco
and you were just going to get a soda. So
you got you got a soda, and I'm standing next
(01:20:39):
to you when the woman tells you how much the
soda cost, and you proceed to say, well, I ain't
pay like it wasn't it wasn't that much yesterday. And
she didn't know what to say. She's just an employee.
It's not her rules. And in front of her, you say,
and I quote, this is the last time you'll see
me here. She was terrified, like this, this celebrity, this
(01:21:06):
six foot four inch beastly man, walks in and is
looking down on this poor woman who's probably making minimum wage,
just trying to hustle to make ends meet, and you're
telling her that that extra twenty two cents is the
make or break of whether or not you will grace
them with your presence. Again, do you have I bought
a fountain drink from there? Since no, you have not.
(01:21:29):
I was mortified, And you know, because I've gone out
and bought found drinks for both of us, because we
both liked the fountain. We have cans here you could buy.
I just don't like the kN as much as I
like a phone drink, And so I was mortified. And
so that happened, And then you proceed to tell last
week a story about the local McDonald's. So again, I'll
paint the picture because it's radio. Imagine the radio station.
(01:21:53):
And if you hang a quick left at the stoplight
and just go straight down, what would you say, like
three four blocks? That's not three four blocksers? And McDonald's, well,
that McDonald's has been under construction because they were remodeling it.
It was a really old vintage lookie McDonald's. And so
that McDonald's was under construction. And so they finally opened
(01:22:13):
up and on their grand opening they had what was it,
Big Max for a dollar a yeah, a dollar for
a Big Mac up until two o'clock. Rob Parker showed
up at two twenty. All right, Now, first issue I
have with Rob Parker. He tried to use his celebrity
to cut corners and get the one dollar one dollar
(01:22:35):
big Mac twenty minutes after it was over, all right,
and I'm sure you pulled the Do you know who
I am? I would that. I've never said that in
my line. So he put up enough of a stink
that Rob Parker. You know that Rob Parker on Fox
Sports One and Fox Sports Radio and a celebrity who
gets his picture taken every time he goes out because
(01:22:57):
everybody wants a little piece of Rob Parker. That Rob Parker,
you know, the guy who was slinging Fox Sports Radio
gears during the holidays for fifty and sixty bucks a pop.
That Rob Parker put up enough stink for showing up
twenty minutes late to the one dollar Big Max Special
and the grand opening. That what did they end up doing?
(01:23:17):
I said, that's not right. I just got off of
work and I came straight here, which was a lie. No,
I but I didn't. I didn't say it was at
USC and they gave me the Big Mac four dollars. Yeah,
that's I just said. I mean, I knew you guys
were reopening. I was trying to get here. It wasn't
(01:23:38):
like I came at four o'clock. It was two to twenty.
And did you do did you do the Rob Parker move?
Because I seen it in person to where you just
open your hands up, both of them out to the side,
almost like you're like you're getting ready to like do
some sort of a karate move, like you're doing the
crazy I was just and then you look around and
go and you just shake your head at them and
just give them give them the look like I'm not
(01:24:00):
I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed. That's exactly what I'm
not mad. Disappointed that you wouldn't take care of your customer.
And you know what, they got a customer for life
because they weren't holding uh steadfast to the two o'clock deadline.
They understood that I wanted to get here. I wanted
to get in on the one dollar. Yeah. Yeah, customer
(01:24:21):
for life until he finds out mister pibs have gone
up nine cents and he's never going back there again. Yeah,
I ain't pay not. I can assure you he's not
paid for that. Rob, Is that cheap? Or is that
just being a good consumer? Ask Rob Garra. Rob knows.
Rob is on par with me. I think the guy
the only reason he missed it he hates having a
(01:24:42):
cell phonus because he used to like when when people
used to have pay phones, he would go check check
for leftover change in quarters and that's pocket that's right,
ask Rob Gara. Like he's gonna back. Of course, he
phone's not even on right now because the WiFi doesn't
work here. I don't want to get charged. I don't
want to get charge like the two Robs are robbing
the rest of us that's the problem. You know what,
(01:25:02):
Jonas not invited to our free Vegas weekend anymore. That's right,
but we're getting free stuff your painful price. All listen.
I don't want any want to know how you guys
got Vegas for free. They're handing out pamphlets on on
on the strip, all right, with details, but there's nothing
wrong with asking. I'm a customer, and i'm I was
a little late and the whole grand I wanted to
be a part of it. That's my McDonald's. I wanted
(01:25:25):
to be are you spinning that crap? I wanted to
be only McDonald's in America. This is my McDonald's. And
I you know, I wanted to shoot a grand opening
of the new restaurant. You know, me and Ronald. You know,
they had Ronald and this spin job and that was
just like, you know, I come here all the time.
(01:25:46):
I knew Ronald before it was McDonald Oh my god,
this spin like, this is the biggest spin job I've
ever seen. And they looked at me. I batted my eyes.
I got big brown eyes. I batted them a couple
of times, and that's like, I guess I won't be
having lunch today. Oh man, this is I am. It
is that is disgusting. That behavior is disgusting because I
(01:26:08):
guarantee you somebody had just walked in five minutes before him.
Who really could he could have used the dollar off
their burger. Oh you may get the same treatment, you mean,
like the FedEx workers. I of course, of course, but
once again I think out four seventy five big mat
they complain. Once again Rob Parker gets the break. Of course, Well, Jonas,
(01:26:28):
I have a related story now. Now. Rob Parker had
a fantastic weekend in Vegas whatever a month ago, and
he posted a picture on Instagram, as he's been known
to do, of a fantastic steak and lobster meal that
he had with a dessert and some drinks, and he
posted the receipt on there and on there it shows
that he was charged for two separate diet cokes, which
(01:26:48):
means that when he got his second one, it was
not a free refill. No I know, Rob Parker, and
Rob normally would have caused the stink about it. So
I commented, I said, Rob, I can't believe they charge
you for two diet cokes. He didn't respond, he sees
you the next day. Well, they didn't caught me the meal,
so I didn't want to say anything. Oh my god,
it's like I just I don't want to complain about
(01:27:09):
I'm complain about the diet cokes. Oh my god, it
did like it's it's I'm like blushing, like I'm always embarrassed.
So this is so cheap. You should be you should
be proud of me. I'm very frugal and smart with
my money, and I do. Rob. You you always complain
that I got expensive sneakers, but I'm saving money on
other things, on Fountain drinks and Big Max so that
(01:27:32):
I could buy seven hundred dollars sneak. Did you see
that new tire that Rob is designing? It stops on
a dime and then picks it up. I'm putting the
premium now. Now this because you are traveling, Are you
gonna pull your travel trick that you do every time
you do this, which one when you take clothes that
(01:27:53):
you don't want anymore and you leave him in the
room and the shop for new ones. No, I'm you know,
I'm dropping off by I can't even like I'm not
gonna not wait a minute, just think about it this way.
If they're gonna charge you like seventy what is it,
thirty five dollars a bag? Save you take two bags,
that's seventy each way. Yeah, that's one hundred and forty dollars.
(01:28:13):
If I bring old clothes and I'm not wearing, that
gives me I could shop with one hundred and forty
dollars or you know what I mean, when I could
save and not bringing himself. So where are you gonna
put those old clothes? Are you gonna layer up and
get on the plane. I'll have a couple of things, yeah,
because you're gonna wear multiple outfits on the plane so
you don't have to pay for luggage. And then I'll
take it off as I get all this insane. Man,
(01:28:33):
this is absolutely insane. You guys will appreciate me as
time goes by. You'll be like, you know what, Rob
was a smart guy, man, he was really Smart's I
see Isabelle, she's a college stude. She's taking notes and
she should she's taken notes. She's saying, this guy's like
the smartest guy I've been around. This is this is insane.
What is happening here? You've lost your mind? All right?
(01:28:59):
You know what folks around Major League Baseball. Folks around
Major League Baseball should say, have had it up to
here with the Houston Astros. You've been hearing all the
comments and whatnot. We have the latest for you. Next,

(01:30:05):
So baseball players all over MLB America, Jonas are pushing
back on the Houston nashtvills more than we've ever seen.
We've never seen the MLB union, this split where guys
are just like going off on other players, calling them out,
(01:30:25):
their cheaters. How people are looking down on them, they
have no respect for them. This is their brother, brotherren.
These are the guys who canceled the World Series in
nineteen ninety four. Yeah, and because the union is that strong,
they were willing to sacrifice anything. It's why. Look the
NFL Players Association and if you talk to players Brady Quinn,
(01:30:46):
who I do a show with, he broke it down
how he was an alternate sort of union rep back
in the last I think it was twenty eleven or whatnot.
And he's even said we got fleeced, completely fleeced. This
was a joke, Flees because the difference between those unions
and the Baseball Union just for people to know they
have a huge war chest of money. Yeah, so they're
(01:31:09):
never they're never voting when when the NFL players votual CBA,
they're voting for do you want to get paid? Or
don't you want to get paid? Who's not going to
vote for to get paid? And like, do you know
what I mean? And like the plan back then for
those players was all right, you guys better put some
money away, So they instructed players to put away like
sixty thousand dollars in an account that's not going to
(01:31:31):
gain any interests, that's not gonna not gonna grow at all.
Like guys have already established like a high spending limits.
That ain't gonna help. Yeah, and you don't get paychecks
during the off season. So how long did they think
that was gonna last? It didn't work baseball. You know,
there's not only not only are we willing to go far,
we'll wipe out a whole season. Yeah, And if you're
(01:31:54):
a player, you go to the union to get a
loan to pay your bills, and then when when you
get your money back, then you hey back into the war.
That's how that's how you negotiate a deal. That's how
you get guys to stay in lot, not fall out
a lot. But this is different. We haven't seen this,
have we? No, and Cody Bellinger had some strong comments
about what happened with the Houston Astros and he really
(01:32:17):
took the proverbial bat to the Houston Astros in the scandal.
Thought the apologies were whatever. I thought Jim Cranes was weak.
I thought Manfred's punishment was weak given him immunity. I mean,
these guys were cheating for three years, you know. I
think what people don't realize is a two stole an
MVP from Judge in seventeen. Everyone knows they stole the
(01:32:39):
ring from us. Personally, I lost respect for those guys.
I think I would say everyone in the show, in
the big leagues lost respect for those guys. It's I
think that those very strong words. But I think the
Players Association probably isn't thrilled with the idea of Cody
Bellinger calling essence calling out the Players Association for having
(01:33:03):
enough strength and unity to where they were able to
offer these players immunity if they talked about what was happening.
That is so true, Like, that's that's a strength that
your union has that no other union has. Like do
you think if Ezekiel Elliott was a Major League baseball player,
do you think he would have gotten pop for six games?
It wouldn't have happened, like with nothing really like no
real evidence of proof that he did anything wrong. Don't
(01:33:26):
you remember when Alex Rodriguez wanted to take a little
less to go to the Red Sox after yeah, Union
said nope, nope, nope, pay cut. You're not taking one
dime less. Then the Rangers agreed to pay you, so
you can't take a pay cut because it said a
bad precedent for the rest of the guys, and would
an A Rod want to go into the Yankees at
(01:33:47):
full price? And it's like, I know Cody Bellinger's point,
and I agree with Cody Bellinger. Jim Crane sounded ridiculous,
and like I said, he sounded like he had like
he was reading off a teleprompter and they turned it
upside down in the middle of it, like he had
no idea what he was doing. He said one thing
one second and then reversed and said the same different
Al two Bay's messaging was crap. Bregman's messaging was crap.
(01:34:09):
The only guy that came off in a positive way,
and my mind was Carlos Correa, who said, man, not
only are we responsible, but this idea that it was
Carlos Beltran was intimidating everybody in the locker room and
we were too afraid to say anything. Is though, that's ridiculous,
that's total bs, Like we're not like he's refusing to
(01:34:30):
give his team a cop out. So Carlos Correa is
calling it out is but it's like Cody Bellinger to
take this heart of a stance. There's probably players around
Major League Baseball they're saying, hey, man, we get it.
It sucks, it's terrible what's happening, but we gotta move on,
like like you gotta. You're not going to get back
the World Series trophy. The MLP had an opportunity to
do it, and they didn't do it. They blew their opportunity,
(01:34:52):
they missed their chance. And now here's the other one.
We got another scandaled us not done. Yes, this is
going to drag on through the tray with the Boston
Red Sox. And I just from now, from what I've
heard preliminary and I'm not reporting this or anything, is
that it wasn't as elaborate as what the and so
you are reporting that now, No I'm not. I'm just saying,
(01:35:14):
can we send that out breaking news? Right? No? That
it wasn't it? Okay, I got I got breaking news.
You're ready, it's not breaking. That's good. I'm very good.
So we've cleared that up. We have cleared up the
the non breaking breaking news. From all I'm saying is
That's what I'm hearing that it wasn't exactly what was
(01:35:35):
going on, and so uh, I don't know if it's
going to be the death sentence that the Astral players
are going to get. Here's the end. Cody Belling just
saying one thing. Remember how strong he came out. What
if Mookie Bets and David Price horde no kidding thing
about that. That's what I'm saying. Man, think about it.
(01:35:56):
It's like at some point you gotta you gotta take
a step back and go, Okay, what's the big picture?
Like you may win it. Do you think you'll rip
Mookie Bets if it comes out that they weld? I'm
just say not. He's absolutely not going to go that direction,
like you've got to. That's why I'm saying there are
more people. Nobody wants to say this, Like Dodger fans
are ripping me, Like some guy told me to go
(01:36:18):
f myself on Twitter because of this, And I get it.
You're a Dodger fan, you're a fanboy. Look, Cody Bellinger's
a great guy, like he's been in studio. I like
him a lot, and he's a fantastic player. I think
there are players around Major League Baseball, a lot of
them that maybe won't say it publicly, that are probably
going to reach out at some point to somebody involved
and say, hey, tell Cody to like, you know, just
(01:36:40):
just relax a little bit, because as much as you
may not like that these players are given immunity, that
Players Association that you are a part of is the
reason they got it. And you never know when you're
gonna need their help and their backup for for something
when it comes to your contract or something in your
career down the road. This other report that came out
to where it said that there's that the Nationals were
(01:37:04):
tipped off by teams and players around the league about
what was going on with the Astros, like that the
Nationals were tipped off because of it. So you mean
to tell me that all of these players in Major
League Baseball, and Cody Bellinger even alluded to this that
they were cheating for three years, all of these other
people involved in Major League Baseball all knew that the
(01:37:25):
Astros were cheating, and nobody ever said anything until Mike
Fires did. It's it's pretty, it's pretty. Why do you
think that is? It's unbelievable to be honest and how widespread? Well,
because they're all together, well, all together, and also because look,
if you've got skeletons in your closet, you're not gonna
call somebody else out for it, Like you're not gonna
(01:37:46):
like how many how many players in the NFL? All right?
You remember when this happened, Like how many players in
the NFL came out and were critical of Steve McNair
after his tragedy. You want to know why because they
all lies. Oh yeah, that could happen to anybody. Like
we're all kind of you know, skating on thin ice here,
(01:38:06):
like we're all It's why college coaches and other you
can cover up for each other. Yeah, they never like
if if if if, if something happens in the ACC,
if there's a college coach in the a SEC, Roy
Williams gets popped. You think Mike Schevski is going to
criticize Roy Williams. Absolutely not, because he doesn't want to
deep dive on his program. You could always find something
(01:38:26):
I don't know and then and maybe I'm wrong, the
Joe paternal thing, I don't I don't remember God's coming
out said nobody. That's what I'm saying, Nobody said it,
Nobody came out, nobody ripped him because you understand, man,
you gotta be careful. It's like if you found out
somebody was fooling around on you and you don't say
(01:38:47):
anything to him, it's probably because you're fooling around too.
Like That's probably what it is. And I think that
the reason players and some of them were even critical
of Mike Fires for opening his mouth. I think the
reason players haven't spoken up during this whole process when
this stuff was happening is because I think they probably
were either under the impression that this was happening everywhere,
(01:39:09):
or their organization and their team were doing it as
well too. That's what I believe it could possibly be.
It all right, the Bucks have the best record in basketball,
But are they and are they even a lock? I
should say to come out of the East. Former NBA
veteran Gerard Mustov has the answer. Next, but first, Fox
Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation.
(01:39:32):
Catch all of our shows at Fox sports Radio dot
com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live.
It is the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio, Rob
Parker and Jonas Knox in for Chris bussardim would coming
to you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
It's easy to say fifteen percent of more on car
insurance with Geico, So go to Geico dot com or
(01:39:55):
call eight hundred and nine four seven Auto. The only
hard part is figure you're going out which way is easier.
It is now my pleasure to introduce our next guest,
Gerard Moustaf, former mv NBA VET and the founder of
the Street Ball Association. Welcome to the Odd Couple. How
are you doing? Gerard? Hey, Rob, how are you doing?
(01:40:17):
Saying great to be here man as well. Yes, I
think it's going out in California. Man, things are great.
Say hi to Jonas Knack, Hey, Drod, how you doing? Man? Good? Heyde,
nice to meet you too. Now, you know, I just
want to say before we get kicking off. You know,
I was covering the Knicks when Gerard was drafted by
(01:40:38):
the Knicks, so I knew him early on in his
career and we've kind of kept in touching. And uh
I saw him in Washington, what was that the All
Star Game? We got to hang out. So he's doing
a lot of stuff with basketball. We wanted to, like
pick your brain when it comes to the NBA. Now, Drard,
since you did get drafted by the New York Knicks,
do you claim that or have they embarrassed you much
(01:41:00):
with the way the organization has gone to here? Like
I gotta distance myself. I'm ana my favorite team, but
I got to ride with the Knicks. Yeah, the Knicks
all the way through. So what's the plan? What do
you what do you think the plan is? I mean,
like who, like who if if you were calling the
shots there? What coach do you want? What? What moves
(01:41:20):
do you make? How do you get a doctor without
a doubt? What about a doubt? My teammate Mark Jack.
A lot of people talk about that type of coach,
that's what they need, But Mark doesn't seem to get
he you know, I mean Chris Broussard says it all
the time, and I agree with him. He's it looks
like it appears like he's been blackball because he gets
no interviews. Uh, jobs have been open, his name never
(01:41:41):
comes up. It's just amazing that he, Uh, even with
his high profile on television, Gerrard doesn't get any in
any interest. Yeah, I can't believe in either you know,
but I think the Knicks need to need a coach
like that who can relate to the to today's player.
Marks has one of the sharpest basketball mind got bet around.
(01:42:02):
I mean, you know, from the time I played with Mark,
you know, he's just been outstanding in terms of what
he knows about the game of basketball. I think that
he was he someone that they need to get the
fans energized just to bring the nixt back. Um. Obviously,
the situation that they had with Charles Oakley a couple
of years ago didn't sit well with people. And I'm
still there, you know, on the fans, you know, but
(01:42:24):
I think that someone like Mark could actually bring him
back the round and Gerarde you talked, we had Oakley
on the other day a couple of days ago. He couldn't,
you know, talk about about it. But that that scene
scenario is as bad as it gets to see a
guy like Oko was a fan favorite, gave up his body,
played hard is basically was thrown around like a rag
(01:42:46):
doll at Madison Square Guard. Yeah, that was one of
my favorite players. Like me and oak stain contact and
we spoke about two weeks ago. Um, you know, but
definitely I heard his spirit, you know that, I heard
his heart and knicks to do that. And you know, also,
you know, I think at some point former players, you know,
former high profile players should have stood up for him.
(01:43:09):
And I think that also, you know, hurt ook a
little bit um, you know. But what I think the mixing,
particularly this past year, man, I mean, they just got
rid of Steve Man, they got rid of you know,
the coach. What are they trying to do with the
basketball team? You know, I don't think anybody knows. Obviously
they don't know. I think as fans, we're wondering too
what is going on? I mean, you you you have
(01:43:32):
about twenty five power forward singing Rosterna do with that?
You know what? That ain't gonna work. Yeah, That's not
gonna work at all. He is Gerard Gerard must stop
joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. Former NBA player
here on the Odd Couple, Rob Parker, Jonah socks in
for Chris Brussard here on FSR. So we're at the
All Star break drive. I want to ask you this
(01:43:52):
point in the season, with all the travel, all the games,
all the minutes, how are you feeling physically if you're
an NBA player, I want to get home and rest. Um.
I just can't see a lot of those guys going
to going to Chicago close of this, you know, for
this many many break I know when I was in
the league, first time day was catch up catching a
flight or I drove down to DC, you know, just
(01:44:14):
to be the family to recover for a few days
before I had to get back to practice. Um, you
know that's a stress. You know too. But I'm gonna
be out of the one, don't guy's gonna be a
to go interview, interview, party appearances, and before you know it,
it's gonna be Tuesday again, you know. So it's it's
a tough weekend for players. So I'll get my hat
(01:44:35):
the guys that can do that. What you you were
talking about, you you like the Lakers are one of
your favorite teams. Uh, you know, the big, the big,
the big competition and the talk of course is the
Lakers and the Clippers. The Lakers have two of the
probably the three biggest stars in the league. But the
Clippers have put together a great roster ten deep. They
(01:44:57):
added Kawhi and Paul George. When you look at these
two teams, how do they stack up if they were
to meet in the Western Conference Finals. You know what
I think so far, I think the Clippers have you know,
have taken a lead, you know, but look at it.
You know, I think a D to me is the answer. Yeah.
I don't think that anybody in the Clippers can match
(01:45:18):
up with happen um, you know. And I think that,
you know, once you know, the Lakers get back to
you know, having all their players there from Rondo and
you know in Kuzma, they get everybody back and healthy,
I think they can you know, they have a good chance,
you know, actually beating them. I mean, they got to
beat them at least once, don't they. But I think
a seven game series, man, with Lebron and everything happened
(01:45:40):
with the Lakers in the last two weeks, you know,
I think that, you know, it's going to be a
lot of pressure they put on themselves, you know, to
get to the championship. And you know, I'm a die
hard Laker two man, and I just think that they
got enough and without anybody that can actually stop a D,
I'm gonna go with the Lakers. Gerard must Stopped joining
(01:46:01):
us here on Fox Sports Radio. Former NBA that here
on FSR. Gerard, what player during your time, whether it
be college in the NBA did you dislike the most,
A guy who there was gonna be problems if things
escalated even more. Which was that player for you? Hmm.
For some reason, Oldest Thorpe always said, Man, why did
(01:46:25):
me and you always get into it? There's something about
old Man. I don't know what it was, but I mean,
you know, it gives me back in the day you
had a player. All the superstar centers had an enforcer,
and I get to the Lodges enforcer. So Oldest Thorpe
was that guy for me? Tough guy? Um, and probably
(01:46:45):
in college I gotta see, uh, Tom Ammons was a
tough guy. It was a tough matchup. So I have
to say that, all right, Gerard, tell us about you're
the founder of Street Ball Association. Is that an AAU
team in the Maryland area. No, that's actually a professional
basketball association. Yeah, well that's a platform I started in
(01:47:09):
two thousand and one, you know, to give players who've
been overlooked, guys who actually didn't plan in the NBA.
UM played in college streetball legends. You know, every city
that you go in, you know, you know, to a
playground or park or just in a basketball community and
they say, hey, you've never seen such and such play,
you know, and so it's like those Rooka Park legends
(01:47:30):
that every city had. I just tried to advise a
platform that those guys can showcase their skills and you
know and hopefully you know, makes some money playing basketball.
And so we did that. We traveled to you know,
five continents and um, just getting guys out there on
the platform to be seen, and you know it was
(01:47:51):
a wonderful you know, just a want us experience for me.
You know, we've actually been to the NBA All Star Game,
UM doing jam session. You know, we did the na
um March Madness and you name it. You know, we've
had a chance to take some players. Um, we did
a fifteen to tool with Jay z Um on sprite.
(01:48:12):
So we've done a lot of great things in basketball
and you know, I'm really proud of that. I just
wish I could, you know, could have got some more
media exposure, right thing we're missing because I know that.
So when it comes to street ballers, rayfer Austin was
a guy who made it in the NBA and every
malou he was a legend. Rick I think Ricky Davis
was another guy who played a street ball for a
(01:48:34):
time and ended up going to the NBA and playing
for a while. What do you think, what do you
think the biggest difference is? Because these guys are talented
as hell. I mean, if you watch some of these
street ballers, they're unbelievable. What do you think is holding
them back from being at an NBA level? What's the
biggest difference? I think to me personally, it is probably discipline,
(01:48:56):
just from what I've seen from guys. You know, So
it's uh, you know the guys that make it because
they weren't discipline in basketball and school coach. It's about
those other areas that guys just didn't really work on. Um.
When I look at guys and I look at a
(01:49:16):
player like a baby shock and um the bone collector.
You know, these guys were some of the top guys
in terms of ball handling, just physical dominate opponents. For
some reason, they just never had never work through the
discipline of it, whether it's about picking role and playing
(01:49:38):
help side defense and all these nuances that are required
for the NBA. They just get that, and so they
settled and just settled just to be all stop. Um.
You know, sometimes that could be your seiling, that could
be all there is for you. But you know, I
thought they had a talent, you know, to go a
lot further. So there are a lot of players like
(01:49:58):
that still to the day. All right, all the great
players out there, man, Gerard moustaf We appreciate your time,
your insight. Thanks so much. No, thank you, thank you. Jones,
I appreciate being here. Appreciate it. Thanks Rod, We'll talk soon.
Street ball is awesome, man, those guys can play, that's right.
And how big is the street game in New York?
(01:50:18):
Growing up? Big time? All right, we may have found
the worst husband in America. That's next part. No, it
ain't me because I'm divorced. It's The Odd Couple on
Fox Sports Radio. Stick it stay America. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard
and Rob Parker week days at seven pm Eastern four
(01:50:40):
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
You Like Hot Cheese is just Michael Jackson? Yes, those
are interesting drops to play. Oh you are something else?
What you know? We appreciate you Jonas. Right, I'm a
little moisture right now. Sure I was at that time, yes,
but I do. I mean it's not I'm not trying
(01:51:02):
to call people out. But tonight, you know, it's been
a long week for me. I've done a lot of work,
double and triple chips and uh, you know it's Valentine's
Day and you know I'm going home to a cold
pillow and it's okay. But some people have a wife
to go home too, and she does so many things.
(01:51:23):
She gave him a baby and all this, and Rob
Ge will not do anything for his wife on Valentine's
gave him a baby. It was a car car new
baby he gave. She gave him a baby, Rob Gee,
why are you such a bad husband? And why won't
(01:51:44):
you do anything for your wife on Valentine's Because Valentine's
Day is a fake holiday. And if you got if
you want to treat your spouse right, you do it
every throughout the year. You don't do it, not just
one day straight. Why can't you buy a flowers because
it's today? Why do you got to buck what everybody
else is doing or get us some chocolate? Because folks
(01:52:06):
like Rob Parker who own their own business. No, it's
a holiday. So they raised the press on everything is
how much you charge you for a haircut today, Rob Parker.
That s let me tell you something. It's a made
up Hallmark holiday. It's a bunch of crap, and they
want people to take it all in. It's so restaurants.
Restaurants can make money, flower shops can charge more. It's bs.
(01:52:27):
I told my fiance, and I told her to her face,
what do you say? I said, let me tell you something. Never,
not one time in the history of our relationship, will
you get a single thing for me on Valentine Wow,
you won't get a happy Valentine's Day. You'll get nothing.
But I said, but I'll tell you what. At random
times each year, I'll get you, like a Valentine's Day card.
(01:52:50):
It will be on my term. So guess when she
got a Valentine's Day and it was it was a
box of fruit snacks in a balloon. She got it
on Tuesday. That's how we work. Well, you still did it.
It was in this same week. You're just trying to
fudge to dates. No, but let Menna tell you my
Valentine's Okay, what's that all right, let's see. Let's look
through you. If you are Rob Parker's Valentine's Day, look
(01:53:10):
through a search history. You gotta give out your brains
Orus password. Our name is Valentine. No, I'm just kidding. Yeah,
great hammer, Valentine. Let me tell you something. When I
was married, I tried to do something special. I worked
a lot. I was always, you know, gone and traveling.
(01:53:30):
So I tried to do some nice things. I told
you about the trip to Paris, surprise trip. There's something
wrong with that when you, uh, I know, it didn't
help long term. When yeah, when you went on your
honeymoon and you were where you're in China or Hong Kong.
We went to Tokyo and to Hawaii in Japan. Hawaii
in Japan, did you did you buy alcohol there or
(01:53:52):
did you do something else? No? I sent the alcohol
ahead to save a little money. It's very anti Rob Parkers.
I said, bottles of champagne from up States, from at Michigan,
you know, in Michigan, and sent to the head. So
when we checked into the hotel at the U in Hawaiian,
(01:54:13):
I said, goodness of your heart, said, mister Parker, you
have a couple of boxes here, and my wife was like,
what what are you talking about? So I bought all
our snacks, all of our champagne, and all of a
sudden we could spend our money instead of overpriced champagne
and stuff or massages on the beach. That's the kind
of guy I am. Right, here's the problem. Since he's
(01:54:34):
been divorced, he still spends all his money on massages. Like,
that's the problem you and Bob Kraft. The only thing
is I gotta it's only cash over and you're having
a cigarette after what I'm knowing. Hey, what a great week.
Chris Mussar getting well, He's getting better. Thank thanks so
much for filling in Jones and Guy's really great week
(01:54:55):
of the Odd Couple. Make sure you come back and
join us on Monday. It is the Odd Cup, Fox
Sports Radio, Stick and Stay America.
