into at the bottom of this first hour, though none

(01:49):
of this is a guy that's in none of those sports.
He does call it a sport. Though I've seen it,
I've read the quotes, I've heard the quotes. He calls
it a sports, I'm not so sure. Joey Chestnut, the
world champion competitive eater, will join us in about twenty
eight minutes and we're gonna find out why he thinks

(02:12):
this is really a sport. It's interesting. We'll get into
that with Joey, so that should be a lot of fun.
But before we go there, let me introduce the Eye

the always right when he supports Chris Bruce Art over
Rob Parker, update hosts our Man Brian Finley. So this
is the eye couple crew, and we are going to
get it started, all right. Interestin story today, there are

(03:02):
reports now that the Minnesota Vikings and the Cleveland Browns
have discussed the trade that would bring Odell Beckham to Minnesota. Obviously,
he replaced the fine dicks he teamed with Adam Feeling
and Kirk Cousins at quarterback. And there's talk that that's

(03:26):
what Cleveland would send to Minnesota for a second and
a fifth round pick in next year's draft. So second
and fifth round picks in next year's draft. And I'm
gonna say this to you, don't do it, Browns. I'm
from Cleveland. I want to see you play well. I

(03:48):
remember when you were actually a legitimate franchise. I remember
when you made the playoffs routine. Lee. Yeah, you're lost.
Elway put it on you. But still you weren't a
laughing stock. You weren't the bottom wrong, you weren't being
trampled over, you weren't being mocked around the league. And

(04:14):
I have your best interest at heart. I would like
to see you be competitive and more. And here's what
I'm saying. First of all, I'm not saying Odell Beckham
is untradeable. He's not. I wasn't in the watchgate. I
wasn't in the goat shoe gate. I wasn't in the

(04:35):
visor gate or any of that, even though I like
Odell and those aren't crimes. I'm just saying I didn't
like him, But to give him up for a second
and a fifth round pick, you got st be kidding me.
And I get it. Maybe the market is low, maybe

(04:56):
nobody wants to give you more than that for him.
Then hold on to him. You essentially gave up two
first round picks and a third round pick to get him,
because Jabelle Pepper Peppers was a first round pick twenty fifth.
I believe Andy, you gave up another first round pick

(05:18):
and the third round. There's no way you turned around
after one year and you trade him for a second
and the fifth. That's crazy, that's foolish. That's why you're
in the position you're in, which is bad. And here's

(05:39):
the thing. Maybe it won't work out with OBJ, but
you can't give up this soon. You can't give up
this quickly. Last year was a mess. Freddy Kitchens was
a mess, the play calling was a mess. Baker Mayfield

(06:02):
was a mess. Now I've got a legit coach. We
believe in Kevin Stefanski. We got a guy that knows
how to work with two great receivers. He proved it
with digs and feeling, and a great running back in
Dalvin Cook, the equivalent of your Nick Chubb, and a

(06:25):
very good quarterback Cousins, and Baker's got that potential. Give
it a shot, That's all I'm saying. It may not work,
maybe a trade Hodel later, but give it a shot.
You didn't give it a legitimate chance. If you're gonna
get rid of this firepower based on one season with

(06:48):
Freddy Kitchens, it's the wrong move. You gotta wait, you
gotta give it a chance. So no a second round
pick in a fifth round pick, and I get it.
Maybe that's the starting point. Heck, Minnesota wants to get
him on the chief. I'm not mad at them, But

(07:11):
next time you talk to him, if they offered, they
stick to that second and fifth. You hang up. You
say called me back when you're serious. You say called
me back when you put some respect or Obj's name,

(07:31):
Because for all his struggles lately, for all his injuries
in the past, for all his underachievement of late Odell
Beckham Junior is still a top flight wide receiver in
this league, and he would help Minnesota in a big way.

(07:54):
And so you've got to give me more than a
second and a fifth round pick. This is foolishness. Brown's
fans should be in an uproar. Whether you like O.
B J or not, whether you whether you think It's
antics are problematic or not. He's worse more than that.
Like I said, you gave up two first and the third.

(08:19):
You have got to hold out for me. And this
is the new regime? Is this what you brought him
in for? More foolishness? This is it. I thought it
was a new day. I thought we were gonna see
things done differently. I thought decisions were going to be

(08:40):
made intelligently. I actually don't believe Cleveland would. Dude, I
think stefans he's smarter than that. And I'm not saying
he's calling all the shots. Is obviously a group decision,
but still, I mean, this may be a sign. It's

(09:01):
maybe a sign that Obj's days are numbered in Cleveland,
and why not put a little pressure on my man.
I mean, he may look at Minnesota and say, Okay,
Kirk Cousins is legit. I'm a cross from Adam Feeling.
I'll open things up, you got a nice running game,

(09:23):
or he may he may look at it and say
it's Minnesota. Seriously, I'd rather be in Cleveland and maybe
it'll wake him up and he'll play his best football yet.
So now, my man, Rod Parkers didn't have a few
technical difficulties, robbed I say that Cleveland. I'm not saying

(09:46):
Obj is untradeable. I'm just saying I'm not trading him
for a second and a fifth when I gave up
essentially two first rounders and a third round pick to
get him. I say, give it a legit chance with
a good coach in Kevin Stefanski. What say you? They
cannot make the playoffs with them, and they cannot make

(10:08):
the playoffs without them. If I'm Cleveland, I gotta really
take a real serious look at him. Is he serious?
Does he want to be here? He had a bad
year last year. He really hasn't played well with the injuries.
And I'm not blaming the injuries on him, Chris, but
the facts are the last three or four, the numbers
aren't there. He's not that elite guy. He's not that

(10:29):
same guy who made that unbelievable catch. And as we
know with the sticky gloves, now it's not as unbelievable
as it was right at that time. At first, am
I right? I was like, oh my god, he was
just the first one to get the gloves. Yes, he
must have been, because I hadn't seen anything like that.
But I'm just saying, when I look at you know

(10:50):
where he is and the numbers of the last couple
of years, He's just not that guy. He really isn't.
And if I'm Cleveland and I can get something in
form and this not blow up in my face totally,
I get it. Chris. You hold out, try to get
as much as you can. But you know, it's like
when you go to the supermarket and you're trying to
pick out some fruit or some vegetables or something. Some

(11:13):
are bruised and you skip over them, or you might
not take them at first glance or first time you
look at them. OBJ actually a nice little metaphor is
bruised fruit. He really is. And if I'm Cleveland, I
might have to decide to make a move, and would

(11:34):
I would move on from him. I don't think that
he's going to be the difference on whether or not
they win or lose. And I'm not saying he doesn't
have talent. I'm just saying they have other issues. They
had enough receivers in different things on that team that
was like a luxury item, you know, like they had
a dependable car, but they wanted to go out and
buy a broken down Mercedes because of the name and

(11:57):
because it look good. He's a broken down Mercede. I
think that's a little far. There's only twenty seven years
old in a sport where wide receivers tend to age well,
it's not a running back. And I'm not hurt a
lowly against as you said, I'm not against trading. I'm
just against trading him for a second and a fifth

(12:19):
when you gave up to first and a third for him.
And here's the thing, Rob last year, I'll admit it
didn't work well, but Freddie Kitchens didn't run things well.
The play calling was a mess. Why not give it
a shot with a guy that's proven in Stefanski and

(12:39):
then if it doesn't work, I can I mean, I'm
pretty sure I can always get a second in the fifth, Well,
I always get him. Give him away for cheap. So
I'm just saying unless. And remember when the reports came
out a few months ago that they might trade Beckham,
it was like, well, if they're blown away, I'm not
blown away by a second in a I'm sorry if

(13:00):
they blow me away, yeah, I'll give him up. Here's
the problem. Even when you look at his numbers that
weren't great. I think that was his worst season as
a pro. Even if you do that, and I mean
without injuries. You know what I mean pretty much was
if you look at it that way. And then the
other part is where is his head? You know, he
wore the watch he brought Brady to cleats even though

(13:23):
it wasn't a farewell tour for Brady. He was just goat.
He's the goat. I mean, there's no reason Tom Brady
left those in the garbage can in Cleveland where where
they belong? You never, okay, I believe that, Yeah, when
he goes to Hooters to order a dozen wings. But
I don't. I don't get um. I could see where

(13:46):
you would question just where his head is? Does he
want to be in Cleveland? You know, at first he
was embracing it. Then he woke up one day and
realized I'm in Cleveland. We aren't going to the playoffs.
I'm not getting the football. We got a coach who
shouldn't be head coach. There was a lot of things
going on and just where his head is. So sometimes

(14:07):
you need to He might need one more place to go,
somewhere else and Cleveland might not be in. If I'm Cleveland,
I am all hands on deck as far as shopping
for this shoppingkay, But you're not giving him up for
the second in the fifth, you're getting more than that.
I don't. I don't know. I'd have to, you know
what I mean, see what else I can get. But

(14:27):
I would be well up to trading him if I
could get something for him, all right? Eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine. You're turned away in should the
Cleveland Browns consider trading Odell Beckham Junior will continue the
conversation with you. Next, It's The Eye Couple Chris and
Rob Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions

from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's easy to
say fifteen percent more on your car shots with Geico.
Go to Geico dot com or call a hundred nine

(15:12):
four seven Auto. The only hard part it's figuring out
which way is easier eight seven seven ninety nine. On Fox,
we threw it out to you. Should the Browns be
looking to move? O b J. Let's see what they think. Rob.
I also want to throw out if you're continue in
the spring, sale continues at get Rob dot com or

(15:33):
hitting me up on social media. Chris is still going strong.
Couple more days for the sale. All right, all right,
let's do it. Marty in Kentucky. You're on the Eye
Couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Marty? What's going on? Bella?
Tell y'all doing great? Man? How are you? I'm doing great? Um.
I love to talk about the Browns with Chris and
me and Rob telling how it is like we did

(15:55):
last year or yesterday, did not make the playoffs? Alheadn't
winning records. Rob told me the charges with make it. No,
we're talking about the brown super Bowl we're talking about.
You said the Cowboys. You picked the Cowboys to go
to the Cowboys one. They choked it down, all right,
I had Marty, But the Browns should actually be trying
to decide whether they, you know, should move to another

(16:19):
city and change the team name like the first Claws did. What. Yeah,
that's the way they had success. You are what. I'm
a Steelers fan, of course I'm hate on yeah, all right,
and they're easy to hate on. You know you should be.
Are you near Cincinnati, not m North Kentucky, Kentucky And

(16:41):
we don't have really anything close to us When I
was growing up. Nashville ended up getting the team, but
when I was growing up, everybody kind of had to
pick their own team because we didn't have anything close.
All right, all right, all right, but uh, anyway, as
far as O'Dell goes, I think at asolutely, you know,
let him go. I don't think he's a lead anymore.

(17:03):
And I know and I think he's he caused us
too many problems. And I know that sounds crazy because
I have advocated for Antonio Brown to get a second damp.
But the difference between those two to me is is
Antonio Brown's work at it has never been questioned, and
even still as fans like myself that he burnt, we
still appreciate the hard work he put in. And I

(17:25):
just think that puts him in a different area than O.
B J, whose production has fell off. And the way
he acts, I mean, when you gotta when you gotta
go out and try to rob steal the show from
the LSU when they went in the championship, thrown throwing
bills out. You're desperate for attention. Get it done on
the field and you'll get attention. Then you go Martyntel

(17:48):
wherever we said, what's happening. I'm not against you know
this robe I was saying, I'm not a gift trading him.
I'm just against giving him up for so cheap. And
if I don't get what I want, which is a
great deal, then I'm keeping him. At least I'm gonna
give it another try with the new regime. First, all right,
Miles in Texas, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports radio guys doing today. We are great man, how

(18:09):
are you doing? All right? I actually agree with christ
this one. I think if they're going to trade them,
they need the right trade and I also see this
as an opportunity of Cleveland getting out of the Odell
Beckham business. I don't see him producing like he did
when he played for New York this last season, and
I think he tried to make a lot of excuses
for that. But I think Cleveland has an opportunity of

(18:32):
getting building off these picks that they get them for
this trade, and I think they'd be better off for it.
So wait a minute, Miles, you'll agree with me, or Chris,
you're just you're just saying you want to hold out
for a better trade because I'm willing to trade him,
And I'm telling you that. You got to remember the
value is that his numbers have been down the last
three years. And I get the injuries and some of that,

(18:54):
and also all the off the field stuff to wearing
to watch all the other stuff that you start. This
guy isn't interested in football as much as he should be. Right,
That's why I'm agree. I agree that I think they
need to trade them. I just think, okay, I can
get a little bit more for him. I got okay,
all right, Myles wet What about giving him a shot?

(19:15):
What about giving him a shot with Stefans getting this
new regime. I think this new regime is more no
nonsense and they're not gonna put up with a lot
of foolishness. And that may cause Odell to straighten up.
All right, appreciate the call. What about Chris and North Dakota.
You're in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Chris? Hey?

(19:35):
How's it going? Guys? How are you hey? I got
two things. First thing is, uh, why are the Vikings
trade for a devon that they just got rid of?
A diva? That's us. They got no money. So if
they trade um fourteen million, they got twelve million? Cap
space doesn't even make sense for him it so it's

(19:55):
why are we even talking about it doesn't even make
sense because it's not even possible. They would have to
add a guy. They would have to add a guy
like they were talking about earlier, was Anthony Harris. You
would have to add it to make the cap stays
actually worse. Well, I tell you what, Chris would get
your trade a guy that you would want? Yeah, I mean,
and maybe there's Look, these are the bare bones of it.

(20:17):
Maybe there is more to it, but look, you think
Diggs was a diva? I mean, he didn't do much.
He didn't do nearly as much as oh, b J
and so I hear you. Look, I actually certainly didn't
come off as a diva when we talked to him
at the Super Bowl. You're not in the locker room
with him. He seemed to be a down to earth,

(20:39):
regular guy. I'm just Kirk Cousin spoke highly of him,
Am I right? Didn't he really seemed to be a
down to earth guy. He definitely really, I really didn't think, like,
oh my god, look at this wide receiver, you know,
diva kind of guy. I even think the controversy where
supposedly he was calling out cousins, I think that was
a little overblown. But apparently something was wrong because he

(21:01):
was productive, but they still moved him. I'm just saying
he didn't do nearly as much as Obi J has
been known to do. That's all I'm saying. All right,
I mean I got you on that. Let's go to
Christian in Maine. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Christian? Hey, what's up, bro? What's happening? Hey?
I'm wondering. You know, I live up under the hood

(21:24):
up here with Belichick, and we don't have a second
round pick, we don't have a quarterback, we don't have
a tight end, we don't have a linebacker, we don't
have a left guard. Um, it's it's what do you
think Belichick's gonna do? Do you think He's gonna move
one of those big people? Do you think Edelman or

(21:46):
Stefan Gilmore? Do you think he's gonna trade them for
money and draft picks? I just I don't know. That's
the feeling I get. Is I get that because the
hoodie is he's that's how he is. He's well we
we we we First of all, we want to stay
on topic. We weren't talking about that. But I just

(22:09):
think that Belichick has proven in the past and I'm
sure he believes that he can win with guys that
others don't think he can win with. So I'm yeah,
obviously he's gonna try to upgrade where he can, but
guys think he feels like he can win with, you know,
with what he has. Yeah, And guys, everybody doesn't come
up to New come to New England pans out. Guys
have flopped. It hasn't been like, oh, they come to

(22:31):
New England, everything works out, It just hasn't happened right,
all right, this man is the goat in the world
of competitive eating, the legendary Joey Chestnut joints. Has he
eating a goat or not yet? And maybe he? The
list is long. I got to ask him. I want
to know if he ate a goat? Right? But first,

aka Joey Jaws. Welcome to the Eye Couple. Man. How
are you? What's up? Good? I'm good to be on

(23:33):
with you guys. Good to have you now. At first,
I gotta ask you this because I know you refer
to what you do as a sport. Tell me why
I'm gonna play Devil's advocate on this. Why is it
a sport? I just think it's eating. Oh yeah, that's
like saying football is just running and catching. Now, if
you really look at it, we're competing against people and

(23:55):
we're pushing our bodies. We're training. It's not like I
just wake up and eat seventy four hot dogs. I
have to make my body adapt to it, teach my
body that it's all right to eat that much. We
learn how to learn my technique and uh, and push
my body. It's uh, you look at us, we're actually
working on stage. I do my best when I'm healthy.

(24:16):
It's when I'm running more when I when I'm when
I'm eating healthy during the week and on the weekends.
I turned on Joey. I love hot dogs. There's nothing better.
I'm from New York. Call me, we'll talk. I love
some bread hot dogs that snap, the dirty water dogs
they selling the sidewalks of Manhattan, but I like the
spicy brown mustard and the red onion sauce. You're dipping

(24:40):
hot dogs with buns into water in order to eat them.
That must be so gross. How do you do that?
It was. It was hard. It was the hardest thing.
And that's where competition came into play. How bad do
I want it? And I had to teach my body,
teach myself just to get over it. And I don't
look at it as a buy anymore. I look at
it as a stip of water. It looks like a bun.

(25:01):
It's just it's I had to teach myself to get
over it. And uh, and I'm lucky I did it
because I can. Still. I love a hot shog. I
still do you. Oh my god, like, now look at
that brown mustard and oh my sauce. You know what
I'm talking about. It's on now. Now here's the other
thing too. It doesn't look comfortable going in. I mean,

(25:25):
after you do something like this, does your body you
feel like yeah? Like and and after you you know,
you gotta relieve yourself. Is it just or something to do? Yeah?
The only way it works is you build the towers
and it's a one way road. I can't get sick afterwards.
If I got sick, then I would never have a
reason to get better. But so so it's a part

(25:47):
of my whole thing is that I go in absolutely empty.
I do it. Cleanse for about a day and a
half beforehand, make sure I'm absolutely nothing. I'll drink lots
of liquids. I take a couple of a couple of
kinds of oil. Make sure things are gonna be running
grooming quick. And uh and I've talked to my doctor
and just learn how to make sure that that, uh.

(26:08):
After after a contest, even if I'm not hungry, I
try to eat them super high fiber just to keep
everything moving. And uh, it's it's it's it's like anything
a football player or basket You're not going to feel
great afterward. There's gonna be a recovery period and uh
and and there's definitely a recovery period after after eating contest. Now,
you hold the world record for hot dogs, and this

(26:31):
is you know, obviously the most in a certain time period,
the most eaten in a certain time period. You owe
the record for Nathan's hot Dogs, Big Max Hot Wings,
Philly Cheese steaks, and Taco Bell tacos plus other stuff.
What is the hardest thing, like when you do these contests,
what food is the hardest to do it with? What's

(26:53):
the hardest to eat? The hardest the food that I'm
not familiar with U. So if I'm familiar with the food,
it becomes love lot easier. Like like when I did
the thirty two Big Max, that was pretty easy. I
was I was kind of relaxed eating them. I sweating,
But uh, it's it's a lot easier when I when
I'm familiar with the food, I'm like it. The hardest
is a food Like I remember the first time I
was in New Jersey eating, they have these pork rolls

(27:15):
and it's kind of like a weird fried baloney sandwich.
And it was a little bit of a taniness to it,
and and and it was just it was hard. After
about ten of them. Uh, my body was like it
was it was not happy. So I had I had
to drink a lot of water. It gets food down,
and it was just it was a lot of work.
And I probably only ate like like ten pounds in

(27:36):
that contest, but I looked worse than when I fifteen
or seventeen pounds of the hot dogs. So now when
you when you had the Big Max, you had thirty
two of them, did you figure out what's in the
special sauce that you had so much of it? Oh?
My god, I think there's a little bit of vinegar.
There's uh, there's definitely ketch up and ketch up and
mayonnaise and maybe even maybe it's a mustard and mustard

(27:58):
ketchup mayonnaise and the something else in there because it's
maybe really really finely dice onions. But uh, at thirty
two big macs, I uh, I never noticed how many
onions were actually in a Big Mac because towards like
twenty twenty nine, I was like, whoa man, I could
smell my own breath right away. Now, we've had great
rivalries over to you. I mean, Ali Frasier and a

(28:19):
lot of them didn't like each other. You and Kobe Ashi,
that's sure, that's probably your biggest rivals. I mean you've
you've dispersed him now, but yeah, come in, what would
you say he's your biggest rival? Oh yeah, I mean
we were each other's nemesis, and we pushed each other
to new limits. We were i mean literally trying to hurry,
like pushed each other to their breaking point, and uh,

(28:41):
it was it was, it was awesome. He he he
ended up not coming back and blocking me on all
social media. So it's it's between you, we're not like, uh,
they did the ESPM thirty for thirty on us and
uh like we we he wouldn't do any media with me. Wow,

(29:02):
but he's just alters who But it's all right because
it made it made it so much easier to to
go against him and push myself hard. But when when
there's somebody acting like a jerk or acting like a
uh so somethings like like like there's something special, you
work so much harder to beat them, and uh it
made it. I missed the rivalry and there's nobody right now.

(29:24):
A lot of the competitive years, we're all friends. We
all go out and have some beers with each other
and we're gonna have fun. But uh, it's, uh, I
missed this. Just drive to put it like, I'm sure
somebody's gonna come and and they're gonna be hungry and
they're gonna make me. Matt, Matt Sully he can beat
me in two thousand and fifteen, so so I'm still

(29:45):
friends with Matt, but uh, it's it's I miss I
missed it. And I think, yeah, I was gonna say
I think I could beat you in a cheesecake eating contest.
I love cheesecake. Do you like cheesecake. I love sick.
Oh my god, we gotta do yes Junior's Junior's cheesecake,

(30:07):
you know in Brooklyn, and then they have one in
Times Square, right, Joey, there is nothing like it. There's
nothing like it. It's it's it's thick but still like
it's creamy and light. It's it's a. It's a it's
different and it's addictive. If you come out to La,
if you were in La, man hit us up so
we can me and you will do a cheese He'll
destroy you know, he won't. I can eat cake. I

(30:29):
love going against people. Either will first of all ask
a cheesecake and then and then yeah, it'll be great.
It's real thing. Joey is wings right, but they got
the challenge you because they got the bones. You gotta eat,
eat the eat. I don't go with boneless wings. But
do you have you ever done a chicken wing contest?
But you gotta eat. I got a long term endorsement
deal with Hooters. I really they have a car. All

(30:53):
this food is free. Wowles appear from you, Joey about
eating this eating it like you taste it like I
was thinking when you are in these eating contests, it's
almost like you're not tasting the food because obviously with
the hot dogs, you put it in water, so I
can't imagine you tasted that. Yeah, I absolutely taste. It's
like a race car driver they when they're driving on

(31:17):
a bad road, everything's magnified. And when when there's a
flavor in the food, I don't like, it's magnified because
it hits me again and then again and again. If
it's if it's food I like, and I'm like, oh
this is still there's still that there's a little bit
of a feeling of pleasure every time I'm doing it,
and uh so, I love to eat. So it's but
when when when you're not in competition, you're just eating

(31:40):
like a regular human being, or you eat extra healthy
or what, it's a battle. It is a battle, like
I do my best when I when I when I'm
eating healthy during the week, super healthy and uh so
I can cook some some mean salmon, grilled chicken, but
I'm doing a lot of chicken, salmon and salad during
the week. On the weekends, I always have either the

(32:01):
contest or these days as a reward cheat day, and
uh those cheat days, they're they're they're pretty awesome, and
that's when I eat my carbs. That's the goat. Joey Chestnut,
the world champion super eater, And you'll be participating in
the Quarantine Eating challenge that's hosted by Major League Eating.

(32:25):
When is that and tell us a little bit about
that quickly? Oh yeah, so we're Yeah, it's gonna be
on Major League aians bestream tomorrow night, I think for
four o'clock our time, and uh, their their YouTube channel,
major League Giing, and we're doing I think it's there's
eight eaters and it's an elimination bracket. Tomorrow's round we're
eating blooney two pounds of blowney. First one to finish

(32:48):
wins and moves on to it gets the seed for
the next round. And then of that second round will
be baked beams, third round will be h I think
oreo cookies, and the fourth round will be a cup
of noodle. So we're wait a minute, what about the
what about the round with the big beans, because that's
the one you could easily blow out the competition, right,
Oh my god, bike beans, I'm gonna I'm gonna They're

(33:08):
gonna go down so fast. Uh, that's and it's like
ten pounds of baked beans we eat, so it's the
first one to finish. I think I'm gonna be able
to finish those things. And like, well, bake beans have
to have catchup and syrup in them. Do you eat
it like that? So they're they're making it. Uh, it's
kind of the quarantine challenge. So it's everything that you
can get are they're kind of staples in the supermarket
and they're completely available, like they are gonna be bushes, uh,

(33:31):
baking and visits regular baked beans. So they're they're not
they're not like the best, but they're they're good. I'll
eat the heck out of them. Well, Joey, congratulations on
all your success and good luck tomorrow in the Quarantine
Eating Challenge or Major League Eating the Network. All right, man,
thank you, thank you guys. Are a great day. Yeah

(33:51):
you too, Rob. I see why you're the poop poo
king Why almost every question you asked had to deal
with that type of activity, like what's going on the beats,
the base scenes, the house, the food go down, when
you're done, how does it come out? I just want
to know why, what's do we know? How it ain't

(34:12):
pretty well. But when you eat that hate a description,
I just wonder if it just keeps coming. Oh my gosh.
All right, anyway, we got some bad news for all
the football fans out there, and it's coming your way.
Next Couple, Chris and Rob Fox Sports Radio. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris
Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four

(34:34):
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
You are tuned into The I Couple Chris and Rob
on a worship Wednesday. And Uh, doctor Anthony Fauci, who
I like a lot, Rob, You like him? Have you
been watching him yet? Have? Yeah? I like him. He

(34:55):
seems like a really good guy, and I really uh,
I look forward to hearing his uh analysis of the
situation with the coronavirus. But I think he's doing a
great job. I think. But anyway, he's even handed, do
you know what I mean? Like in an environment today
where everything is so politicized, right, I feel like, yeah,

(35:19):
he tells you what's going on, and still there's still
people that want to say they don't listen to him.
You gotta listen to somebody. I mean, really right, none
of us are experts. Well, we don't know. I mean
none of us know to your uncle Bubba at the table,
some people are because obviously there's people on both sides
of this issue, and they're clearly listening to somebody. How

(35:41):
do you know who you're listening to? Us? Right, I'm
gonna trust the who, the people with the credentials. I
guess we'll say, right, and he's an expert. But anyway,
he said today on Good Morning America that he the
only way he sees sports, professional sport or collegiate returning
this year is if no fans are in the stands. Wow.

(36:07):
And he said, you know, kind of like some of
the models we've seen. He said, you know, if you
bring all the athletes together, kind of have them in
one geographic area and play all the games in one spot,
then you might be able to do it. And we've
heard that with baseball, we've heard that with basketball. The

(36:28):
thing where that we've even heard it with the NFL.
But obviously it's much more difficult with the NFL because
they got so many more players. And so I think
and then as bad as it will be for the NFL,
that you can't do that for college football. That's just
impossible for college football. And the other one even more

(36:51):
players per team. But secondly, I mean you got hundreds
of teams, right. And the other thing is, and I
think I forgot who said it earlier, Chris, if the
kids aren't back on at college, how in the world
could you as football players to play games? I mean, well,
there is Yeah, you're right, because there I think during
the States, there's the that's that came out today. Yeah, Well,

(37:13):
the college commissioners who had the discussions with the White
House today said that their their hard line is that
if students aren't back in the fall, then they can't
play sports, which makes sense. I mean, we know the
NC double A is about money period when it comes
to these athletes. But still, this would be so brazen.

(37:38):
This would be such a and and admission that you
don't give two hoots about these guys academically. It's all
about the money they can make you playing sports. There's
four billion dollars on the table, right, Yeah, that's what
it's all about. And look that money. There's jobs and everything.
But you're right, Look, if the students can't be on campus,

(38:01):
then you can't. You can't. It's an amateur. You can't
have these guys on campus to play football or some
other sport because, let's be honest, Rob, they probably won't
even have the other sports. They don't care about the
other sports. They care about football because that's where the
money is. You can't do it, and I think that's

(38:22):
bad news. Though, to get back to our general premise,
do you there's no way they can do college football
without fans in one place. You can't do it. No.
I think they're trying to come up with as many
things as they can, but no, I don't think it
can be done. The only thing you could hope to do,

(38:44):
would say FBS, the top division of football would be
if we discussed yesterday, like a sixteen team playoff, you
would have to like put a limit I don't know however,
many teams, twenty thirty, fifty whatever, you know what I mean,
like the Power five conferences, which wouldn't be fair, But
that's what you'd have to do to try to limit it.

(39:05):
So you could if you really wanted to try to
bring students to one particular site. But again, like we said,
if students aren't on campus and some campuses Robb have canceled,
will not canceled, but already said their fall classes will
be virtual so early. You know, I don't know why

(39:25):
you would do it that early. You know, why not
just wait a little longer and see. Yeah, but you know,
but the bottom line, it does not bowl well for
college football first, pro football second, and then we'll see
what basketball and baseball. All right, it's the eye couple,
Chris and Robb. We got two hours left. You know
what to do? Keep it locked. Fox Sports Radio has

(40:50):
bottom of the hour, our man, NBA champion, longtime sharp shooter,
mister Eddie House will join us in about twenty eight minute,
so a lot to get into with them, rob as
this last dance documentary, the ten part documentary series on
ESPN for the Jordan Bulls, the Last Year with the

(41:13):
Bulls with Michael Jordan ninety seven ninety eight season. That
is going to be something everybody's looking forward to. So
we'll talk with Eddie about that and other stuff around
the NBA. But first, Tony Dungee, friend of the show,
like to have more every now and then, he was

(41:34):
on NBC Sports their lunch Talk Live and he talked
about you remember he coached down in Tampa and he's
a Hall of Fame coach, and he talked about how
excited the folks in Tampa are and how high their
expectations are now that they got Tom Braidy. They are
so excited and all they're hoping is that we get

(41:54):
this season rolling and get to play because there is
so much energy and excitement here. Tom Brady has been
in the playoffs every year that he's been healthy. The
feeling is we're going it's just who are we going
to play against in the super Bowl? Well that's the
great Tony Dungee and Uhan saying, uh, that's a good

(42:17):
question because obviously I think going on one hand, no,
he may have been you know, I don't know, i'many
coach down there. And for context, he said that his
kids are Bucks fans. You know, he was a coach,
So you think he was saying he was talking about
he was in the full context of the conversation. He's saying,
my kids are big fans, and they're all saying, hey,

(42:38):
when are we gonna be in the Okay, So he
wasn't talking about himself. No, Okay, but Rob, go ahead, Uh,
I can guess what your opinion is on this, but
let me let me throw out the question and there
you have the first shot. Uh are the Buccaneers closer
to being super Bowl contenders or closer to missing the playoffs, Like,

(43:01):
are they more likely to be a super Bowl contender
or in the they don't have a lottery, but you
know out of the playoffs, they are gonna miss the playoffs.
And I feel very confident in saying that, I really do,
because I'm gonna pick New Orleans in Atlanta ahead of them,
and I know there's an extra team in the playoffs.

(43:22):
And still not convinced that whatever the charges on in
that there in the nfcum but I'm still not convinced
they haven't made the playoffs in twelve years. It's one
thing to play in obscurity when it doesn't matter and
nobody knows who you are, nobody's paying attention to you
when you're an also ran. It's another thing when you're

(43:44):
coming and you're driving the Mercedes with the horn blowing
and everybody knows you're supposed to be the big dog
in town and you got new wheels and a new
Europe playing with boopies. I'm just saying, Radio Mercedes, this
is what I'm saying. This is this is what they
feel like they have and this is why they believe it.

(44:06):
It was the same thing in Cleveland. They will all
in No, don't tell me to stop it, because everybody
in their uncle and called it, including all the TV executives.
They couldn't wait to get the Browns on national television.
Oh my god, their star studded. Baker may feel, Oh
they got all these but oh b j oh, it's
gonna be star studded. They went from a million to

(44:28):
one to get to the Super Bowl of fourteen to one.
People would go and gagay all over the Browns and
the same thing here. They'll wake up one day and
they'll realize Tom Brady is forty three. Nobody wanted him
except for the Chargers to sell tickets, and they'll say, wow,
I guess this will be our thirteenth year or not
making the playoffs. They'll have a Baker's dozen and that

(44:51):
is what's gonna be the season for the Tampa Bay
Bucks and Tony Dungeon his kids. Sorry, Charlie, you'll have
to wait next year. That was so weak. First of all,
it was the most predictable answer in Fox Sports radio history,
and you protected all. We knew that was coming. We

(45:12):
knew that was coming. And secondly, uh, you you kill
your argument by comparing to keep comparing the Buccaneers to
the Browns. You can't compare Odell Beckham Junior or acquiring
Odell Beckham Junior to acquiring Tom Brady. Tom Brady has

(45:35):
been the nine Super Bowl. He's forty three years old,
two years removed from people like you and people of
your ilk saying he was old and still winning the
Super Bowl. So Rod, he was Super Bowl. You were

(45:55):
so off they won. I don't care because when he
was great the year before, you didn't give him credit
because the defense gave up forty one points. So you
can't have it both ways. Ques, she gave up the
football with two and a half minutes to go to
your limber roof of five do you remember five yards?
He blew The baby was perfect. But he had a
great game that's undeniable, and Belichick's defense couldn't hold up.

(46:21):
They couldn't stop a second string quarterback. That's what it
boiled down to. So I don't put that on Brady
if you're gonna keep taking it away from him when
he wins and doesn't have an outstanding game. But anyway,
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers robed Let's get away from the narrative.
Let's get away from the history, because none of that matters.

(46:45):
What matters is the talent on the football field. What
matters is the coach under the headset. What matters is
the play caller under censor. And I tell you they
got some talent in those areas. They got receivers Chris Godwin,

(47:07):
Mike Evans, both of them light years ahead of anything
Brady had to throw to last year. And for those
of your ilk who think he can't throw the long ball,
he was tied for first last year in long ball
efficiency even though he did though he didn't have anybody

(47:34):
to throw too. And then they got two tight ends
who are legit O. J. Howard Cameron Braid. They got
a defense that was right number one in the league
against the rush. Now they were bad against the pass,
but they showed improvement over the last few weeks. And
I'll tell you what. It's tough for a defense when

(47:58):
your quarterback is throwing two interceptions a game. It's tough
for a defense when your quarterback starts off the game
with a pick six. That's not gonna happen with Tom Brady.
One thing he is is safe, and he's not gonna
have thirty interceptions. He's not gonna have twenty. He's not

(48:22):
gonna have fifteen. He'll probably be around ten or twelve.
And that is going to bolster that defense. So I'm
telling you right now, Rob Parker, you're gonna owe a
brother wings because the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to
make the playoffs. I believe in when I see it.

(48:45):
I'm not one of these guys. Prison of the moment
you get a new shiny toy and all of a sudden,
Billy's the best kid on the block. I'm not doing
that all of a side. I'm not doing that, especial
all of a sudden. Yeah, especially with a quarterback who
was awful in the playoffs and I mean awful in
the Super Bowl a year ago? Uh did they win?
You can't be off now? He was? He was awful?

(49:07):
He was Did they win? What happened to short me?
I gotta ask you this question. No, I don't time
to the short menu that works for my narrative. You
just stole my right right right right, I thought so,
I thought so. I'm just telling you, Chris, just like
you went crazy over the No, no, no, no, because

(49:28):
I'm not breaking up the Chargers. I'm not bringing up
what about the Cowboys. You thought the Cowboys were going
to the super Bowl, thought that we had to go. Yeah,
we can't because I had the cowful not making the playoffs.
I'm too I hear about that. I killed you in
the football season. I told you from me about that.

(49:48):
You wor picking the NFL where you got lucky. I
killed you? Why I killed you? Sorry, I've been coming
to National Football League since nineteen eighty seven. First of all,
you think you know more football than me. You don't,
Chris Bussard, I know way more football in my left
leg than you know in your whole body. That's a fact.

(50:10):
I demolished you the first year in the regular season picks,
and then I rushed monish. I only talking about I
crushed you both years in the playoffs. So you did
for two in your playoffs. All you're doing you eat
the obvious teams. I pick all your door. All you're
doing the obvious team. Anybody can get a narrative. I'm

(50:31):
not here to have a sticky pat some alter ego personality.
I'm here to tell the truth. Like when I'm here
to Washington Nationals. That was a stick. I picked it,
Like when I picked on the Toronto Raptors. Was that
a stick? No, I'm the one who's willing to take

(50:51):
the risk. If they're really talking about you, pick all
I believe he's gonna all you're doing pick me a favorite?
You know, all you do is pick face dam because
everybody in the country thinks they're going to the super Bowl.
Just like last year, you pick the Browns. They were
the favorite. Yeah, they are a favorite. They were everybody
look a brown seven and nine paper. Everybody was paving

(51:16):
what the favorite is? Yes, they were favorite. Last four
team who I think is going to win? You all
your picks? How's you gonna get how you're a nine reader?
I am a mind reader? Yes I am. Well mine
read some good jokes for your stand up? How about that?
Come on, I think it's gonna win, period. And if

(51:39):
it so happens to be a team other people like,
so be it. Rob? I know is I picked the
last two Super Bowl champions and you didn't go out
on the limit. Pick Carolina this year just to have
a stick? What's up? Rob? Who goes out on a
limb much more? What does that mean? Picking who's winning

(52:01):
that in the game. Ain't to go out on the limb.
Who who in this country go out with the Washington
Nationals and pick the Toronto Raptors to win? Who that
would be? Rob Parker? That's it, nobody. The Raptors only
won because injuries hit going ever, they won, so stop it.
I mean the game of the game. We're playing a

(52:23):
different game because I don't do anything to be a
stick to say I go out on the limb. I
want to be right. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but
I don't do it just for a stick. All right,
Let's see what you guys think. Eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty
three sixty nine. Are Tom Brady and the Buccaneers more

(52:45):
likely to make the Super Bowl or miss the playoffs
all together? Next season? You're turning away and as we
continue the conversation with you. Next, It's The Eye Couple,

I say the Buccaneers with Tom Brady make the postseason.
Rob says they don't. What say you? Eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox Let's get to it, Rob? Did
you pick the Lakers to last year? On never mind?

(53:50):
Dan in South Carolina Fox Sports Radio. No, you pick
the Lakers who didn't even make the playoffs with Labro
got hurt style? Okay, Dan, you're inside on the odd
couple Fox Sports Radio. Bucks aren't making the playoffs? Who's that?
I mean? I mean there's too many good teams in

(54:11):
the NFC ahead of them, and we don't know what
Brady's like without Belichick? Thank you? So you're saying the
Bucks won't make it Brady? What was Belichick before Brady
got there? Of course your old news stock. I'm saying
what was its old news? He had Drew Blatso and
they won five one two championship with the giants of
the defensive coordinat that means nothing. Give me a head coach.

(54:34):
A lot of guys are good defensive offensive coordina. You go,
do you head coach? Do you remember when the Bears
five head coach? I'm just saying, we have the record
of Belichick without Brady and it ain't pretty. Do you
remember when the Bears won the Super Bowl and eighty five?
Do you remember that? Yeah? And the players at the

(54:55):
end of the game they carried off Budy Ryan were
bringing the res be coordinator know him not. I'm trying
to tell you what talks about great class About somebody
winning a championship as a defensive or offensive coordinator, That's fine.
We're not talking about that. All I know. He ain't
Super Bowl rings eight. We're talking about head coach, even

(55:16):
if he's a Cheatah, Joseph in Virginia, you're in the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio Good Evening, Fellas robbed.
You have to stop comparing Bruce arians to that debacle
in Cleveland, thankye. Is nothing like what they had going on.
Everywhere been, he's won. Who Bruce Errington made the playoffs

(55:37):
two out of seven years or whatever it is? Well,
when Belichick did that, Bruce arians is what what the
blunt been in the playoffs where they haven't made the
class in twelve years? Did he go to the playoffs Indianapolis? Yes?
Did he go to the playoffs in Arizona? Yes? He
went to the playoffs everywhere beside Champ the base And

(56:00):
that's going to change this year. Okay, he was so
good at how many Super Bowls did he win? Wow?
Come on, okay, everybody? How I believe he's got winn
as an offensive coordinator? Rod Parker, now you believe sure?
This is pretty sure top five and turnovers the top

(56:21):
five overall, and they're the best rushing defense, Jamie that's
had thirty three picks. That's when they were playing and
they were the Bucks and nobody paid attention to them.
It'll all change this year. He's got busting kidding yourself.
You must be kidding yourself. You think people are gonna
play the Bucks the way they played him the last

(56:42):
twelve years. Come on, man, you gotta know better than that.
That's thinking the same thing that happened when they took
them for granted, he's a winner, Bruce, He's got Kansas
very nice. You're happy, Bruce Couple, Fox Sports Radio. Yeah, Brucial,

(57:03):
Rob'm with you, man, tell him, Bruce, I know that's
hard to admit. Give me some are ye. Come on,
when they won the Super Bowl, Man, I'm not saying
they're gonna win the Supero. They're not gonna make the playoffs. Bruce,
the playoffs, he's done, man, Well look here, done playoffs.

(57:25):
If he was in New England. Yea, they were twelve
and four last year. That doesn't sound too old to me. Hey,
Bruce was the worst ein't no team in the history
of the NFL. What they were twelve and four and
they got some blacked at home. They lost the last
game that was giving them aloff. Played. Uh that was
Tennessee closer than Baltimore. That would have given him a

(57:46):
bye and they choked down the game at home. Fine,
they weren't a Super Bowl champion. Fine, they were twelve
and four though. Charlie and Washington, you're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Charlie? Hey, thanks guys,
thanks for having me back again. I love the show. Um,
I gotta go, uh super Bowl. And my main reason

(58:08):
is because I've lost my life savings betting against Tom
Brady and I'm done with that. And I don't want
to hear any of this. He's crossed two years, Christie's old,
he's his prime. Yo. I don't care if we grabbed
this guy out of the geriatric unit and he's throwing
balls from a mobility scooter. I am not betting against
Tom Brady ever again. Be Wings, Charlie, Yeah, can we

(58:35):
bet Wings on this? Oh? Hell? Yes? All right. Remember Charlie,
you're saying they're going to the super Bowl. Yes, but
you got it, you got it. Here's what I like
about Charlie. He learns from his mistakes. I sit across

(58:56):
from a guy every day who doesn't learn from his mistakes.
This so Brady for eight years, Roby super bowls later,
you're still betting against him. Alex is the official Rob
Parker Chicken Wing. Alex. When it comes to Chicken Wings,

(59:17):
who is the king? Well? You say, you know how
there's the saying that death and taxes are always for
sure and life, well, it's death, taxes and losing to
Rob Parker and Wing bets down about it. We'll see
because you and I got a bet, and it's not
the super Bowl, it's Tampa Bay making the playoffs. No,
I will eat lemon pepper wings in your face and
in Cowboy Cowboy. We'll see about that. I'll be uh

(59:43):
garlic parma john wings in your face, Uh Cowboy and
Windsor Ontario, Canada, across from Detroit. You're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Hire A Christ and Rob Well.
First of all, Robbie probably know that Tony Dungee's my cousin,
as is of course Ferguson, Jenkinson, rub and Mace and
chose for you. I know this is worship Wednesday, but

(01:00:04):
I worship big boom babes every day. That sort of
all I think that the I think that I think
they're going. I think there's I think the Buccaneers are
going eleven and cousin Tony didn't like that comment, you
know that. Yeah, well, you know I'm not quite I'm
a little different than Tony, let's put it that way.

(01:00:25):
And they're going eleven and five. I think the Buccaneers
because I think Brady will probably throw thirty touchdown passes
with maybe seven or eight interceptions, not thirty and thirty.
It happened last year in arians is of course an
offensive group, puffs. I think they'll probably draft a couple
of defensive players in the first two or three rounds,
and if they do that, I think they'll be eleven

(01:00:47):
and friend. Now, I don't think they'll go that far
in the playoffs because Brady will show that he's forty
three during the playoffs. But yeah, I'm pretty sure they're
going to go ten and six or eleven and five
make the playoffs. And thanks for putting me on boys,
nice cowboy, nice call. He really came on. He started badly,
but he came on strong. Now he's a pretty good guy. Yeah,

(01:01:07):
he was good. So wait a minute, we got more calls. Chris,
John and Maine. You're in the on couple of Fox
Sports Radio. How you guys, um, I just want to
say my answer to your question. I think Tampa Bay
will absolutely be closer to the Super Bowl, let alone

(01:01:28):
making the playoffs, so it'll be close. They had a
good offense. Now, now I remember we had a good offense.
We went to the Super Bowl with bled Sow and
ninety six, and yeah, we always called the high powered offense.
On the commercials, it would say, what's the new wing on?

(01:01:51):
Patriots take on the Pittsburgh with the Patriots high powered offense.
And then we had lose a playoff game seven or six,
and then Brady came in. He did what he does
and it's a lot of fil uh field position because
he's not turning it away, but you could see him
move the ball. I heard him, uh compared to like

(01:02:14):
the Michael Jordan of the NFL, And I said, no,
he's He's the Larry Bird incredible athletic instincts, but without
the athletic ability. But he's got those instincts. He moved
in the park at just the tiniest bit and someone
wouldn't miss it would be the extra second. So I

(01:02:35):
think Tampa Bay's gonna be a, you know, a really
good team right up there late in the playoffs. As
for the Patriots, John John he was a nice car.
I mean, he went back into Patriots history, didn't he. Yeah?

(01:02:55):
I remember that Super Bowl? All right, here we go? Uh?
Are the NBA decision makers setting the players up for failure?
Is that? Eddie? Eddie's take? Rob G Rob g? All Right,
we'll see because that's interesting. NBA champion Eddie House has

(01:03:16):
the answer. Next, But first, Fox Sports Radio has the
best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of
our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com and within
the iHeart Radio app search f s R to listen live.
Let me ask, Rob, did you know Roy Holliday like personally?
Does that surprise you to know him personally? No? Yeah,

(01:03:37):
that that's stunning. No, huh No, I mean, you know
what a lot of times it's just like, uh when
once they do the finally you know, like you see
these tragedies often, Chris, and I'm saying all the time,
but then there would be something you find out that
somebody who was drinking remember the other boat crash, yeah whatever,

(01:04:00):
whoever I can't remember, Yeah, Jose Fernandez down in up Miami,
who is beloved, the young guy whatever, And then they
find out that he had alcohol in this system driving
a boat, you know what I mean? And ye, not
all the time, but I'm saying, often people wind up
doing stuff they shouldn't be doing, and it's it's tragic.
That is tragic. It's tragic. It's tough. That's tough, all right,

(01:04:22):
coming you live. We are the eye couple from the
Geico Fox Sports radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen
percent the more and your car insurance with Geico. Go
to Geico dot com or call eight hundred and nine
four seven Auto. The only hard part is figuring out
which way is easier. Hit it. That's right. The theme
music of the Great NBA Sharp Shooter NBA Champion played

(01:04:46):
with some of the best players ever Andie House. What's
up man? How are you? What's happening guys? How y'all
feeling man? We are great. Let's get right to it.
We running a little behind, so let's get right to
the questions so you can give us that wisdom. There's
a model out there that it'll take that. They're gonna
give the players if they can twenty five days to

(01:05:08):
get ready for the regular the season, so eleven days
of individual workouts and in a two week training camp,
then they'll either go right into the playoffs or probably
play a few regular season games. The question I have
for you, Eddie, is twenty five days. Is that long
enough after this layoff for guys to get in good

(01:05:29):
enough shape. Yeah, I would say so. Once you're in
world class shape, all of the guys that are in
the league or in world class shape, and none of
them are just sitting on the couch. And if they are,
that shame on them, because you never know when you're
gonna get that call, when it's gonna be when things
gonna have to get up, so you have to be
prepared for when they make that decision. So twenty five

(01:05:49):
days is more than enough time, I think, you know,
to get guys that are that have been in optimum shape,
and then you know this little spell where they're having
been actually playing games, really being able to play, but
being kind of keeping themselves in decent shape. You just
put it in an over driving and within a week
a week and a half, you right back in that
optimal shape. Now your rhythm might be a little off

(01:06:11):
from not playing the game, but as far as you're
getting out there being able to go extremely hard and
not get really tired, I think they'll be able to
bounce right back to with that. I'm still not sure
that if it's not safe enough for fans to come
into a building, I don't know how safe it's going
to be. And I get the testing that they say
that they're going to do. Here's my own issue. If

(01:06:32):
a player then comes down with it. Now what now,
what would you do? I mean that would probably scraped
the the whole season again and it would be all over.
I don't know how they can guarantee people who go
or someone's not a carrier, even though they say sometimes
they don't have symptoms or they don't you know what
I mean. Like, I'm not convinced that it's going to
be safe for the players. Would that be a concern

(01:06:55):
for you? I'm with you on that, because you don't
know what somebody's doing when they leave. Yeah, it's practice,
if it's shoot around, if it's um after the game,
you don't know where somebody's going. And I mean, hey,
let's just face to keep it real, man, and call
it how it is. You know, guys interact with you know,
if you're a single guy, you're gonna be interacting females. Yeah, exactly,
so maybe not and who yeah who? He said? Hey,

(01:07:19):
now you said that, man, then you start cats under
the bus. You know, you're always gonna cast judgment. But
really though, like then you have to worry about those
type of things. So I'll feel you on that, man,
But really, I think, really what it is is you
know the money issue. I mean, there's so much money

(01:07:39):
being lost out here. You know, you gotta think about
the sponsorship that that is, the TV deals and all
the things that's that's wrapped up in it. It's just,
you know, not only just the NBA, but the economy
has all been been taking a major hit. And you know,
I think their their look on it is if we
could get that back, he could give us some sense
of normalcy and maybe could start changing. But Eddie, we

(01:08:02):
may asked one more question. I'm sorry at the other
part is, and I don't know quarantine or how this
is gonna be. Are you gonna just say that they
quarantine the people or to leave your your wife and
your kids during this pandemic? Is that cool? No? I mean, listen,
it's gonna be extremely hard to try this. Well, what
you're gonna put somebody in solitary confinement? Come on, right,

(01:08:23):
You're gonna find ways And like I said, well I
go back to the way if you're dealing with women,
if you're dealing with you're gonna find a way to
get her up there. I mean, there ain't nobody gonna
be out here dry like that. That's just not gonna happen.
So at the end of the day, it's gonna be
virtually impossible to make sure that every single person has
not had contact with with with with somebody that possibly

(01:08:44):
could be a carrier. Eddie, Rob and I have talked
about and look, we want to see sports as much
as more than anybody. Yeah, but we as there's a
little bit of it that doesn't feel quite right when
when the economy is what it is, is everybody's sequestioned
in their house. But yet we want to put these
athletes out there with no fans to entertain us. There's

(01:09:07):
a little bit that just feels like they're being dehumanized
a little. But I also think in that same ame,
I think the players probably want to play. So do
you think that players will look at it as a
little Yeah, this ain't really right, y'all throwing us out there,
but no, it's not even safe for fans to come in.
Or do you think they're just gonna be like, Hey,

(01:09:30):
we want to play, we want the money, let's go
do it. I think what it is you're gonna have
both sides of the coin. It's just like when you
have a collective bargain in agreement you got God to
agree with something and God that don't agree with it.
So I think for the most part, everybody, I think
across the board, everybody wants to hoop no matter what.
But I think the amount of wanting to hoop sometimes

(01:09:53):
I don't. I don't think that's going to supersede the
fact that wanting to be safe. I want to have
their families to safe. I think it all depends on
who you're talking. You talk to a guy who's single,
who's very young, new to the league. He he wants
to get out there and ball out. He doesn't matter
at all expenses. Somebody that's a little older in the
league that's been in the league around and has a family.
Hey man, I don't know if this is so safe
for me and myself in my situation. So you're gonna

(01:10:16):
have both sides, and I understand. I mean, it don't matter.
Everybody across the board want to get out there and
who I mean I want to get out there, and
who for it? You know, if if I could. But
at the end of the day, what it really is
the league has to look at what is the most
safe thing for these not only look at the dollars
and the entertainment for everybody else. But what is going
to be the most effective way that they can make

(01:10:37):
sure that nobody is going to be in contact with
somebody that has it? And I think that's virtually impossible.
And and here's the other part two is you don't
get paid in the playoffs. If you were just right,
they got paid just today, I think, right, I think
was to pay that yeifte. But you don't get paid

(01:10:57):
in the playoffs. You know, depending on how far you get,
there's a stipend, you know what I mean, if you
win the championship, right right, player gets but you're you're
you're essentially not getting any more pay checks once we
get out of the unless they play a couple I
guess more regular. Well that that depends really that depends
on how you set up your your deal. You could
have your deal when you paid six month, or you

(01:11:18):
could have it paid over the year. It depends on
how you wanted it set up. And you're you're right,
I mean, once it if you were a six month guy,
then you know you're not gonna get no more check,
you know, and you but you I think that at
that point you have prepared for that. You know, this
date is no different from the date when you were
you still got paid. This date is no different from

(01:11:38):
the date than when you signed that contract. No, no, no,
I don't I get that. I'm just talking about the
difference between playing during the regular season, where your checks,
your normal checks are coming in, compared to where not everybody,
but some people they're paid literally stops. I'm not saying
that they're gonna be broker. You're kind of just saying
they're not playing for sport for money, right because they've

(01:11:59):
been pep. You say, you play the game now you're
not getting paid. The more you've been sad. I mean,
but you you've you've been paid for something that you
didn't actually do you know. So, I mean, if if
you look at it, you're getting papers, some work that
you're having to complete it. So there is some work
that you can't complete. There is some season left, and
like I said, I think the most important thing for

(01:12:19):
everybody to look at is, man, are they gonna be
able to guarantee the fact that everybody will be safe?
I mean it's not just the players first day. I
mean you got to think about the player, the trainers,
You got to think about the media guide. All right,
you got that, yeah, across the be going home. Yeah,
yea yeah, So you're important, Eddie. Before you go, I

(01:12:40):
throughout my all time starting five, my position. I want
to get your opinion quickly in your You're all time
starting five. So I have Magic at the point, Jordan
at the two, n Lebron at the three, Larry Bird
at the four because he did play a lot of
power forward two, six ten, and then I had um

(01:13:02):
or six nine, I had Kareem at the center. Yeah,
I've seen that dood lineup. Now, Oh wow, there you go. Yes, No,
I'm not I'm just nothing with you. There's nothing I
canna say about that lineup. Man, when you start talking
about great, this objective is on who how they feel,
and at the same time that lineup is fantastic. But

(01:13:24):
I got one for you. I will go hot Kim
at the five. I would I would go I'm I
like defense, so I'll go kg Um at the four.
I'll go Lebron at the three. I'll go Um. Actually,
let me take that back. I'll go kd at the three.
I'll go Jordan at the two and Lebron at the one. Wow,

(01:13:46):
that's a nice lineup. It's interesting when you think about
because I was thinking about this from my lineup, though.
It's different if you're saying, Okay, these are I think
kind of the best guys at the positions. But when
you actually think about playing a game, you know what
I'm saying, and then you gotta do did you gotta say, okay?
Is it in the nineties or is it now? Because

(01:14:08):
if the three point shot, I feel I feel my
team is any any era because I think all of
them are unselfish. You got Dorant, he got Durrant, he
could shoot the three. He's your shooter, but he's really shooter.
You got h Michael who was the killer. You got
Lebron who could facilitate but also take over the game.
All the three of those guys could d up. And

(01:14:29):
then you got KG who is another willing passer down low.
How came another willing passer down low? And guys that
can finish. I mean, I didn't think it would be
hard Press or anybody you really score on that squad
and Eddie, I have you list in front of me,
and it says the player you don't want at the
free throw line with the game on the line, let's hey,

(01:14:52):
that's why. That's why he's taking the ball out. Who's
not anybody's name Eddie, I don't know, but anybody I'll
put my best pastor to take the ball out. Okay,
that's the great Eddie house Man. Hey, be safe, man,
have fun. We got man all right, brother peace. This
might be our most controversial shop Talk of the week.

and it is time for shop Talk. Nobody's still been

(01:15:37):
a bomb shop You know that, ain't nobody? Isn't it?
You talk about whoever, whatever, whatever you want to in
the ball It's shop Talk, Yes, sir, it is the
Wednesday edition at shop Talk, a segment we discussed something
to happen outside of the world of sports. I wish
we had more time for this one because it's very controversial,
but let's get right to it anyway. Something happened earlier
this week in Raleigh, North Carolina, where a group of

(01:16:00):
people were protesting. You know, they wanted the businesses reopen.
The local businesses reopened, cops came by and started arresting
folks for not adhering to the social distancing guidelines and
keeping six feet apart. So here's the question. Are you
more on board with people's right to protests, which is
in the constitution, or the current social distancing guidelines. Chris Brussar,

(01:16:22):
We'll start with you. I think you gotta go with
the social distancing guidelines. I mean, look, I don't want
these people punished or anything like that. You just gotta
get them from protesting. Yeah, I get it. Protesting is
our constitutional right. But so it's going to church, and
they're not letting people go to church, either the mosque
or the temple or whatever you do on Sunday. So

(01:16:44):
uh no, I mean, look, this is about health. And
we've seen we saw some churches where they held this
in defiance of the law, they held service. Yeah, dozens
of people have gotten the virus. A pastor died who
was defiantly, you know, bragging about defying the law, and

(01:17:05):
he died and from coronavirus. So I just think this
is a different circumstance, Rob and I've talked about it.
Nobody alive, for the most part, has ever experienced something
like this, so things are going to be a little
bit different. So yeah, I think you got to adhere
to the social distancing. I'm with you. I get the
rights and things happen. There's a lot of stuff that

(01:17:29):
you don't want the government to tell you what to do.
And I get all that, and people don't want them
to control their lives, Chris, But in this case, and
what's going on, just go on Facebook and see all
the people have died and friends and family. I mean, seriously,
it's eye opening and you could pooh pooll it all
you want. It's the real deal. No one's trying to

(01:17:51):
bamboos or you or I don't know what the reason
to wreck the economy and you know, crush people's lives
and empty out their savings, you know what I mean?
Like like the notion that this is being done on purpose, Yeah,
I don't. I don't get it. Why what would be
the hitting everybody Raousically, it is hitting the poor the hardest,

(01:18:13):
but it's hitting everybody, even the rich people on the
stock market has collapsed and the people have lost a
lot of money for one case, all that, everybody's been
affected by this. Look at the airlines they have to
You think they'll come back the same size they were
probably not. No, no way, no way. So you're absolutely right.
So yeah, I just think, look, we have to you know,

(01:18:36):
and you're right, like that's the fundamental right of ours
is our freedom and all that. But I want to
hear a lot of freedoms have been curtailed during this time. Yeah, okay,
radical Rob g let's hear radical Ro'm not the radical,
that's Alex the vegan. You know that. Um. I actually
think that I'm more on board with the people's right
to protest. I think that's something that I would never

(01:18:57):
want to give up, even if I don't agree with
the protest. But about the other rocks, is that the
only right we know? I mean, freedom of freedom of speech, fordom, religion,
that kind of stuff should always We're not having freedom
of religion because we can't go to people church. Mean, yeah,
but where are you what's art? We are learning every day?
We don't have freedoms, we just have privileges. Boys, odd couple.

(01:20:03):
his chance in the squared circle with the undefeated ide Couple,
and uh, it won't be pretty, but it'll be no.
Even though Bernie and I go way back. He used
to be my regular filling back in Detroit for ten years.
Now he's on Fox Sports Radio. Smart guy knows a lot.
But Chris has no chance against us tonight. No, not

(01:20:23):
at all, not at all. They none of them do.
But they they're courageous. They get an a for effort
and courage and heart and all that. But anyway, let's
get into this Rob. There was a report today, couple
reports that Odell Beckham Junior could be on the move,

(01:20:44):
and the Cleveland Browns reportedly are in talks with Minnesota
about a deal. Again, I can't see Cleveland doing this,
but right now it's that Minnesota is offering, or at
least talking about, a second round pick and a fifth
round pick in next year's draft for Odell Beckham Junior.

(01:21:08):
Now I don't I'm not against the Browns trading and OBJ,
but I'll give you two quick reasons why when I
think of this report, why I wouldn't do that. Number one,
you gave up just a year ago. You gave up
two first round There's one being Jabil Peppers who was
already in the league but had just been drafted recently

(01:21:29):
as a first round pick, another first round pick, and
then a third round pick. So you gave up two
first rounds and a third for OBJ a year ago.
Now you're thinking of moving him for a second and
a fifth. No way, no, how to use your phrase,
you can't do that. That's too little. And if they
blow you away with an offer, fine, but an offer

(01:21:52):
that low No. Secondly last year was a mess. The
head coach had his issues, as we all know Freddy
Kitchens in Cleveland. The play calling was jacked up. Give yourself,
give this regime o bj Jarvis, Landry Baker, Mayfield, Nick Chubb,

(01:22:13):
Kareem Hunt. Give them a shot with a legitimate coaching staff.
We've seen Kevin Stafans get work. He knows what he's doing.
If it doesn't work with these guys, or if Odell's
up to his old antics and not fitting in, that's fine,
then you can look at moving him or moving for
less than a blockbuster deal that knock you off your socks.

(01:22:37):
But for that right now, I would give it a
shot with a regime that I know can maximize talent
and see if it works. Before i'd move him for
for peanuts. Well something might. He might only have value
of peanuts because of the kind of money he has,
the lack of productivities had over the last couple of years.

(01:22:57):
He's also injury prone, and he's also has a short
attention span and normally it's about everything other than football.
So when you add all those up, maybe what people thought,
maybe that's why the Giants were willing to part with
such a talent because he ain't that guy the numbers.
The numbers prove it, and all the other stuff wearing
a wrist watch and buying Tom Brady cleats and all

(01:23:20):
the other stuff that went on his past year. Okay, no,
I'm not so if I'm Cleveland, and maybe you can
get from under this before he's totally worthless to you
and you can't get anything next year. Said, They give
him a chance, and it doesn't work out again, and
now there's problems because Baker Mayfield's not throwing them the
ball or Baker Mayfield's not as good as people thought

(01:23:42):
he was, and the Browns don't make the playoffs again,
and the heat starts coming down and people go, look,
maybe it's Odell Beckham junior. Because everybody thought this team
was gonna be something and he hasn't been the same
player and they don't win. He's not an impact player.
What are you gonna get next year? So maybe you
get the best offer you can and move on, cut

(01:24:03):
your losses and keep it moving. And I think that's
what the brown should do. Let him go and you
move him for the second and the fifth. If that's
all I gotta said, I don't know best you could get,
that's the best offer. I God, yes, I would move them. Wow.
So you just like we gotta move him. That would
be your attitude. Yep, absolutely, wow, Wow. All right. I'm

(01:24:25):
not there, but um, all right, that's pretty strong stuff,
all right, rob It is obviously since there's no Major
League Baseball games being played, you know, a lot of
people have it recognized that it's actually Jackie Robinson Day
in the major leagues, and a lot of baseball players

(01:24:45):
were tweeting out, you know, salutes and tributes to him,
which is absolutely um. But I know you wanted to
make some some comments on this. Obviously a huge day,
not only for baseball but and and be honest, not
only for all sports, but for our country as a whole.
This is a huge day, Chris, no doubt about. It's
beyond baseball. In nineteen forty seven, when he took the

(01:25:07):
field at Ebbartsfield in Brooklyn, Jackie Robinson changed his country forever.
It was that big of a deal for a black
man to play in the major leagues, it really was.
And he did it with grace and dignity and class.
No matter how he was treated, he was chosen Chris
not because he was the best black baseball player in
the United States, because they knew that he would be

(01:25:29):
able to handle it, that a lot of guys would
not be able to handle what he had to endure.
We all know he died prematurely, probably from the stress
and everything else that that came down on him during
his career. But what a graceful and dignified man he was.
His wife personifies dignity even you know, all these years later,

(01:25:52):
Chris Rachel Robinson, beautiful dignified woman. I mean, who's held
Jackie Robinson's legacy in highest team all these years. I
appreciate her and I admire her and the way she's
done that. And we know Jackie Robinson's number, of course,

(01:26:14):
is retired throughout the entire major leagues. A couple of
guys had a grandfather. Then Mariano Rivera, I think might
have been the last guy to wear it, Chris number
forty two. And if you haven't seen the movie forty two,
that was great. There's all kinds of documentaries on Jackie
Robinson right now, right and Jackie Robinson was a football player.

(01:26:37):
Chris a track star. He was an unbelievable athlete, and
he wound up playing baseball. Back then, that's when a
lot of great athletes played all the sports. There was
no picking one sport and playing that. But this is
a great day and we should never forget. I love
that Bud Selick, under his watch, decided to do this

(01:26:58):
and retire his number. Have a day for him because
it was the day in this country where being black
was all right that day. I'm just saying, nineteen forty seven.
You remember, civil rights goes back. The Civil Rights Act
is nineteen sixty four. Christ how much further back? So
think about Jackie Robinson in nineteen forty seven. I mean,

(01:27:20):
it's an incredible thing. And I respect, admire, and honor
Jackie Robinson on this April fifteenth, Jackie Robinson Day. No
Will said. Will said, I agree with everything that you mentioned.
What's interesting, too, is that you know I've I've often
beat this drum, and I believe it. I don't think

(01:27:42):
I think it's undeniable that today's athletes, particularly today's superstars,
like a Lebron him more than anybody in the NBA,
for sure. But you know Staff KD, you know Westbrook,
and then you got the superstars in the other sports,
they have more criticism and scrutiny than any of the

(01:28:05):
previous athletes, you know, because of the way technology is
and shows like this, and TV shows like this and
all of that social media, you know, the whole nine yards.
But Jackie Robinson is one that back during his day
just because of the racism, because of all the letters

(01:28:28):
he was getting, the hate mail, the way fans mistreated
him sometimes teammaker oponents. Yeah, Like, I mean he had that,
you know. And we talked about Hank Aaron. We talked
about him last week, the home run king, all that
he had coming at him when he was approaching Babe
Ruth record. So there are like you talked about the

(01:28:50):
stress and strain he was under. It. It was incredible
that he could go out and perform with that type
of pressure because remember here right, and and let's be honest,
you mentioned in nineteen forty seven, nineteen fifty thing, wasn't
that a black guy? No, and it could have been.

(01:29:11):
I mean it was not out of the question for
violence or gun play or something to break out on
a professional athe you didn't know like when Hank Aaron
hit that home or the past Babe Bruce and set
the record. Remember the fan that ran out on the
in Atlanta. He didn't know that guy had a gun

(01:29:31):
or not? Right? Right? I remember if he met well,
but we didn't know that he meant well, because if
Hank Aaron didn't touch the plate, that wouldn't accounted. Do
you know what I meant? Seriously yep, yep, yeah, So no,
there there's no question. Now, you mentioned that Jackie Robinson's
number is retired across baseball, So I want to ask

(01:29:53):
you this rob is there and maybe there maybe there
isn't another athlete, but is there another athlete eat in
any of the you know, the three major sports, Football, Basketball, Baseball,
Who you think, uh, their number should be retired in
their sport? Or if you had to pick one, who
would it be. That's a good question because people right

(01:30:15):
away they might say Wayne Gretzky in the NHL, Right,
Wayne Gretzky greatest hockey player? Uh, Michael Jordan. You know,
pat Riley did it in Miami, which was weird. He
never played there. That was really weird. But if there
was one guy, if you wanted to retire to their number,

(01:30:36):
I think I would pick Michael Jordan and that number
twenty three. I've always said, Chris, and I wrote a
column years ago News Day about changing the logo to
Michael Jordan. But if there was one player who put
to me, made that, you know, elevated the game uh
to a new level, it was Michael Jordan and the
whole kids I want to be like Mike. That's when

(01:30:58):
kids really I remember that craze of playing basketball and
wanted to be Michael Jordans. He really had an impact
or in basketball. So that would be probably the only guy,
but not on the same level of a Jackie Robinson.
I can't equate, you know, moving the needle, making kids
love basketball compared to what Jackie Robinson did, which was

(01:31:20):
he was a great player. It wasn't like he was
just some token black guy on the team. He was
a star and that and also the social part, the
part that branch Ricky and that branch Ricky picked him
for a couple of reasons. Branch Ricky wanted to make money.
His team was in Brooklyn. Chris, he saw black people

(01:31:42):
walking by every day and not coming to the ballpark
in Brooklyn. He's like, how can I get these people
to come in and spend money, right, that's really he's
a businessman. How can I get these black fans, black
baseball fans to come in and watch my game? So
he wanted that and that was part of the reason,
and he was willing. You said it before. Teams were like,

(01:32:04):
we won't play Brooklyn if Jackie Robinson is on the team,
and he did it anyway. He challenged him and said, well,
we're gonna put him on the team regardless. And the
teams they threatened, but they didn't follow through it. I
would go I wouldn't say Michael Jordan, even though, as
you know, I think he's the goat. I wouldn't say
Wayne Gretzky the goat hockey player. I wouldn't say for

(01:32:28):
those that say Tom Brady, including me, you know, retire
his like I don't think just because a player is
so fantastic that you have to retire his number across
the league. But I and I said this at the
time rob right after the tragedy. But I would say
Kobe Bryant because of the tragic way in which he died.

(01:32:50):
And I know it's nice they named the All Star
Trophy after Kobe. It's nice, No, but I think it
would have been even more powerful because you saw not
this is not why, but you saw a lot of
players decide they're not gonna wear eight or twenty four anyway.
You know. Um, So I just think that would have

(01:33:10):
been I mean, this guy, he meant so much to
the game of basketball. I mean, he is one of
you know, whether you think he's where you where you
rank him all time when you talk about iconic players,
when you talk about telling the game of basketball. And
I know he came much later than than all the
guys that laid the foundation, but he's one of those

(01:33:33):
dozen of guys or so that you're gonna talk about.
You know that just's iconic that is so beloved by
fans or even hated by some fans, you know, before
the tragedy, he was that type of a figure. And
so I thought that that if I had to pick
one player, I would say Kobe Bryant. Question. I just

(01:33:58):
want you to I'm just asking you, Kobe does have
something in his past that would not stop you from
doing it? Chris that that no, because he was he
was you know, he wasn't convicted of it. Okay, I'm
just asking, but that some people would would say a

(01:34:18):
reason why not. It'll be interesting to see if people
can come up with some other ideas players worthy of
such an honor like Jackie Robinson. And that's the only
guy that's been done for. And I wonder, all right
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine, who should be

(01:34:38):
the next athlete if there is one to get the
Jackie Robinson treatment and have their jersey retired throughout their sport.
We will continue the conversation with you. Next is The
Eye Couple Chris and Rob Fox Sports Radio. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris
Broussar then Rob Parker week days at seven pm Eastern

(01:34:59):
four pm pass on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
It's the I Couple Chris and Rob. And we got
a question for you. Do your own or do your
rent your home? Sure? You do. Fortunately, Geico makes it
easy to bundle your home and your auto insurance. It's
a good thing too, because having a home is hard work.
Go to Geico dot com and get a quote and

(01:35:21):
see how much money you can save. Geico dot com
they make it easy, all right. Eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven, seven, nine, nine, sixty three
sixty nine. If another player has his jersey number retired
across his sport by every team in his league, like

(01:35:41):
Jackie Robinson in Major League Baseball, who should that athlete be?
You're turned away in Let's get to a robe. This
will be interesting, Chris, I really want to see what
people say. All right, Josh and Texas, you're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Josh, what you got, hey, Fellas?
First of all, thanks for having me, first time calling,
long time listener. The work you guys do, man, undisputed

(01:36:04):
feeling in for everybody. Love you guys, Thank you so much. Yeah,
appreciate it all right, man. Two points. One thing is
rob I think you're right in the sense that what
Jackie Robinson did as far as breaking the color berry
and all that, it's such a huge magnitude. Nobody can
actually fill that type of role in that way anymore,

(01:36:27):
because that's like came and went. But I filled myself
leaning towards Chris in the sense that it could be
Kobe because of the impact he had not just on
the NBA, but like all over the world. You see
all these different athletes of every walk of life coming
and paying their respects and stories out of the woodwork, like, hey,

(01:36:50):
he helped me with this, He helped me with that,
you know what I mean? No, I get that, But
I only think, Josh, I'll ask you this, if you
do it in this situation, do you open yourself up
that every time there's a tragedy or someone dies in
a tragic fashion, that you have to retire their number
league wide? Do you know what I mean? Like, I
don't think like Michael Berto Clemente died in a plane

(01:37:14):
crash trying to help people, they didn't retire his number
league wide. He was a great player, Hall of Famer, Chris,
Do you see what I'm saying that? Yeah, but you're
certainly not gonna do it for obviously for every player.
M Fortunately, these things don't happen a ton. I mean,
they ain't got more than more yea, they haven't more
often than we'd like. And then I mean as great,

(01:37:34):
you know, and he was great, like you said, hall
of famer, but we haven't really seen somebody like Kobe
Bryant have this situation, you know what I mean? Like,
I get it, he was touched a lot of people
had to be cut down. At forty one years old,
it's very young. It just is Yeah, all right, David
and Nebraska. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

(01:37:55):
What's up, David? Hey, how you fellas doing? Man? You
guys know how I feel about the show. And it's
a favorite time of night. Man, I get take you back.
Listen to you guys, you know you a little bit. Yeah, Hey,
this is a good topic. Man. Uh, I was thinking
a little bit about you know, I probably uh not
as informed as I should be about to actual impact

(01:38:16):
Jackie Robinson had. But I really don't. I don't know
if you can come up with something, you know, that's
gonna reach that level, like the last caller said, But
let me let me just throw this out there. Uh,
my favorite athlete growing up was Magic Johnson. And what
about if you would co retire Bird and Magic? Because

(01:38:37):
I think it's pretty well known that the NBA was
in some serious trouble back there. Watch. I had to
watch the finals on tape delay after the news exactly.
You know a lot of a lot of millennials can't
believe that. But it's yeah, no, right, But I mean
it was a real time. I was young. I was
I was young, but it was like, hey, Grandma, can

(01:38:58):
I stay up and watch the basket? But you know,
I'm just so just from an impact level, maybe you know,
those guys did a lot to maybe actually save the NBA.
You can believe that. So because they had such epic matchups,
what I don't know. Again, I don't think you probably
ever get to the true level of Jackie Robinson, but
I thought i'd throw that after. No, it's not a
bad answer because obviously they did. You know, as much

(01:39:22):
as Jordan took the NBA to another level. You can
look at what Lebrons said to what Steph's done. Yeah,
they saved the league, and so you can't underestimate what
they did. However, did you talk about setting a precedent,
rob that was at a precedent, because then it's almost like, no,
I mean, you got bad players better than Magic and Bird.

(01:39:43):
So are we gonna retired their numbers? You know what
I mean? So yeah, I'm gonna be can retire everybody's number?
Right right? Uh? Angelo and Philly, you're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Angelo? Yeah, first
time caller, a long time listener, man, thank you. I
think it should be Joe Montana, the real goat. I'm
with you. I don't know why just because you like him,

(01:40:06):
just because he was the great? I mean what why?
Because in the Super Bowl four and oh no interception,
love and touchdowns three MVPs. So then we gotta retire
we gotta retire Jordans And I mean that you can't
just like we said, you can't just retire everybody's number.

(01:40:26):
Who was attacking? No, no, no, he threw it out there.
I'm with you. He just I think you texted him
in him. I don't know who that is or something
like Angelo fu Philly. That's what he is. Pnceton, Princeton's
in Texas. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's our Princeton? Hey man, I got two things, all right.
One you gotta you gotta give it to Tom Brady
Man twenty years in the league. How often do you

(01:40:48):
have a quarterback last more than five to ten years nowadays?
Six rings, countless, super Bowl appearances, and he's still hot,
like three streets right now. Every team in America wanted,
I mean the one team that we didn't think would
get him. Actually got him. He made him jump up
twenty percent with the betting and stuff like that in Vegas.
He's about to lead him to the playoffs. I'll stop

(01:41:09):
at Chris, please go ahead, quickly, go all right. I
listened to you all all the time, and yesterday I
really wanted to call in because Rob, you were tripping man,
Jeff Kurry. You gotta get that man. Here's a spect man,
undersized point guard like that to come in and make
an impact on the game like that. I coached little
league basketball. I can't name one player that doesn't go

(01:41:30):
to shoot threes anymore. He could be the center position.
He still want to shoot the three. Man, you gotta
get at the steps a game. When he went makes
a big shot in the last twenty seconds, he called
me up. All right, you know what, Rob, that's a
that could be the topic one day. So wait a minute.
So Gretzky's number has been retired throughout the NHL. I
didn't know that, Okay, So that I did not know

(01:41:54):
it is I was gonna say, I don't remember that.
He only player story to see, like if you had
to pick one player in each sport, you know, just
just for their greatness not for you know what I mean,
not for any any other reason. Who would it be?
You know that that might be an interesting topic too. Yeah,

(01:42:15):
to Wayne Gretzky, we mentioned them. I just didn't know that, Chris,
I really didn't. I don't Why did I miss? Yeah?
I didn't remember that either. Get the fire department on standby.

One of the best in the business. But right now
he smells like burnt toes. None other than Bernie Frattle. Bernie,
how are you feeling this evening? Oh? Come on, man,

(01:43:43):
you guys sit there all puffed up and getting ready
to kee me up for a hot water and him
on you ask me how I'm feeling. Oh, my tm I,
that's right up. Ros See why y'all were buddies in Detroit,
because it's still buy my man. Every time I go
to Vegas, we go out to have a little nash.

(01:44:04):
We eat me, Bernie the Man. We have a great
time in Vegas, even though it's a ghost town. Now
that's true. Yeah, all right, all right, you all know
how to stop stalling Bernie. You know how to get satan.
It works. Bernie's got three very hot takes. He's gonna
defend two on one against Chris and Rob. So let's

(01:44:24):
get started topic number one. Now. This offseason, Tom Brady
wasn't the only advanced age quarterback to change teams. That
would also be Philip Rivers, who moved on from the
Chargers to the Coats, and Bernie says that Philip Rivers
will make the Indianapolis Colts a ten win team. Bernie,
you got thirty seconds, stay your case absolutely. First of all,

(01:44:46):
he's going to a franchise where he gets to play
eight games inside of Dome. They've got very favorable road
weather schedule. He's got the best offensive line in football,
So won't you're running for his life? Frank right, who's
not only a head coach and a great offensive coordinator.
They're gonna team up very, very nicely. Indianapolis has the

(01:45:08):
second most salary cap space to the signed Rivers that
continue to build around him. And they've gots weapons and
Marlon Mack and t Y Hilton and not only that,
Indianapolis as a young roster with an improving defense, their
trend line is upward. Rivers is finally going to a
great environment. Bernie, he's thirty eight. I mean maybe a

(01:45:32):
few years ago, Yes, he threw twenty picks last year,
only twenty three TVs. I mean, stop it. Everybody's not
Tom Brady. Now we think everybody's gonna play and be
excellent till they're forty forty one years old. Everybody's Drew Brees.
Everybody's Tom Brady. No, I don't see Philip Rivers at

(01:45:55):
the TV twelve clinic. I don't see him eating the
stuff to Avaca, all those shakes and all the stuff
tom Brady's doing. He's not the goat. The Duns had
nine kids and nine are un away, and you call
him thirty eight. He's just getting started one hundred and
twenty three wins as a starter. He once started the

(01:46:15):
AFC Championship game on a torn ato and through for
two hundred and eleven yards. He's never really had a
chance to play for a true winner. They've been chasing
him around. Watch him find the front of youth. This
year in Indianapolis will be in the playoffs with Philip Rivers.
By the way, in that torn acl game, he threw

(01:46:35):
for two hundred eleven yards. Bernie, stop it with the
old man river. Are you kidding me? Philip Rivers couldn't
win when he was young. Let loan hold. Did you
watch him last year? He was pathetic. He had more
turnovers in the bakery. He always was voted to the
other team. He had so many interceptions. And you know

(01:46:58):
what he should be in football this year with his
nine kids and his wife. They got eleven. That should
be the team. He's quarterback and four not the MD
Indianapolis colts Man. You're tough rounder score there. We'll say, though,
Philip Rivers does have nine kids, so that is the

(01:47:18):
over underun wins for him. I'm leaning with the over.
They got an easy division. I don't like the Texas
right now. Round number one goes to Bernie Fratto. Do
Rob ge Rob's a horrible how wise, he's what's this
is ridiculous? Again? Rob brilliant? That's right. Bernie gets it right.

(01:47:40):
Here we go the hot Z, the Eyt Couple, Fox
Board Radio, Bernie Fratto defending his hottest takes against the guys.
Take number two. We were gonna do something else, but
since we had world champion Joey Chests out on the show,
we just I do this topic instead. Bernie Fratto says
that putting catchup on a hot dog should get you
a night in jail, Bernie, good luck to fending this week.
Got thirty seconds stay your case. You're damn right catch

(01:48:03):
up with sugar. You don't put sugar on a hot dog.
Ketchup smothers the flavor on a hot dog. You put
ketchup on a hot dog, you're not enhancing it, you're
camouflaging it. You're killing it, and you're killing me. That's
like putting ice cubes in wine. That's like eating pizza
with a spoon. In fact, in Chicago, it's a violation
of a city ordinance. If you ever mentioned that you're

(01:48:25):
gonna put ketchup on a hot dog in Chicago, they're
looking in the I and say, go ruin it yourself.
They're not gonna put it on there for you. Even
President Obama said it's unforgivable to put ketchup on a
hot dog after the age of six. Mic drop. I
get it, Bernie. When you're sixty five and you taste

(01:48:46):
budget shot happens, you need mustard to that you can
feel like like you taste hot ketch up and delicious.
There's nothing wrong with catch up on a hot dog.
I'd do it all the time. Sometimes I don't even
have the bun. I'll cut up the dog and just
twinkle ketchup all over and eat it with a four

(01:49:07):
catch up his grave. Oh my god, that is your
worst take rops since August of two eighteen, which when
you said Brady was washed up and he could never
catch up. Since then, he's been twenty six and six
fifty three touchdowns nineteen interceptions to Super Bowl win, two playoffs.
And I'm gonna tell you right now, with Brady, this

(01:49:29):
Patriots offense this year wouldn't be able to score in
a women's prison with a fifth full of fifties. And
by the way, you know what, Brady never puts on
a hot dog catchup, Bernie, What I mean the crime
is not to put catch up on him. I need catchup,
I need mustard. I might want some relish. The bun
needs to be toasted. Catch up is a main stay.

(01:49:52):
And don't get me the sweet stuff, Sweet and souries
all the rage. Now, you ever heard of chicken and waffles?
You ever heard of salty caramel? What about pineapples on pizza?
Sweet and sour is the rage? I don't know. I
don't know if sour was the right one. There with

(01:50:13):
chicken and waffle croup. But it's okay because you know Costco,
they sell hote, not sweet. That's what I mean. There
you go, Costco sells hot dogs. The only four toppies
they got ralish onions, mustard, and ketchup. So therefore round
two go to the odd couple. Yes, I and you
know what it tasted like mustard. All right, let's keep

(01:50:35):
it moving. We saved the hottest take of the nights
one to one. Odd Couple's got one, Bernie Fratto's got one.
This next one, we're two and a half points, so
we go either way. Hottest take of the night, Bernie Fratto,
only one of your radio right now, who's saying with
a straight face that Gilligan's Island is the worst show
of all time? Bernie? You got thirty seconds? Tell us

(01:50:57):
why show of all time? First of all, you got
the professor. He can make a radio out of a coconut,
but he can't get him off the island. You got
Ginger and Maryanne running around. They haven't had their ticket
punched since I carried his own golf clubs. And meanwhile,
Skipper and Gilligan they're asleep at the wheel literally, And
by the way, why in the hell with Thurston B.

(01:51:20):
Howe and a famous actress named Ginger behind the damned
ss minto in the first damn place. Every single character
in this show is an idiot. Bernie stop it. I mean,
just the fact that they had Ginger and Maryanne made
it was made it a good show. They were beautiful.

(01:51:40):
You just wanted to look at it, to watch them,
to see them. And then you had a It was
family oriented. You had the nice couple, the Howls. They
were married for fifty years. They loved each other. You
had academia with pro education, with the professor he wasn't nerdy,
he was and cool. I mean, come on, Gilligan and

(01:52:03):
the Skipper for comic relief. It was terrific to think
about what would I do if I was on an island.
I'm wanted to bet a few shekels. You never watched
a single episode, my good man. And not only was
the show dumb they put the show together, the people
who put it together or even dumber. What if I
told you that we're kill Welch tried out an audition

(01:52:27):
for the part of Maryanne and they turned her down.
Are you kidding? Me, Jim Brown dated Kail Welsh And
by the way, they didn't even want Bob Denver. They
wanted Jerry Van Dyke to play Gilligan. And he took
one look at the script and said, this is the
dumbest thing I ever read. And he went to an
even crap your show called My Mother the Car. That's

(01:52:47):
how bad Gilligan dialan was you just named the worst
show ever My Mother the Car. That is exactly the
worst one. Anyway. Gilligan has one of the most iconic
theme songs ever Tear a tale, a tale love, A
faithful trip that started on this tropic port, on board
this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailing man

(01:53:10):
to skipper brave and shore. Five passenger set sail that
day for a three hour tour, a three hour tour.
Nobody wouldn't know the words if it was an awful show.
It was one of the most iconic theme songs, and
we couldn't wait to sing it every time it came on.
You couldn't be more wrong about Gilligan's Island, you know,

(01:53:34):
you know what, I gotta be honest, Rob, that was
I think you could see ten, ten or twelve miles away.
Every show ended up to say you did a little body.
That was one of the hardest rounds to score. Rob
Parker didn't even bother having it take. He just sang
there at the end. Bernie Fratto threw extra punches after

(01:53:55):
the round. The only would follow the rules with Chris Bussar.
So I guess by default the couple gets the wind. Yeah,
we shouldn't one for me singing the theme song. That
was like conic Bertie Fratto takes it on the chin.
I'll take the l gentlemen. Sometimes you gotta lose to
a couple of Hall of famers, and I'm gonna go
have a hot dog catch up the great Birnie Fratto, folks.

(01:54:20):
Fox Sports Radio Weekend holds. Great job, man. How you
know what? Chrissy had a show in ann Arbor, Michigan
and the name of it used to be in the
Fratto House. That's not a bad name. That's good. That's
good the Bernie Fratto. All right, someone needs to get
these Dak Prescott haters a dictionary. I'll explain. Next it's

(01:54:42):
the Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar
and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
It's the Eye Couple Chris Brussar and Rob Parker wrapping

I wish I could say that the uproar over this

(01:55:25):
story was because we're all searching for something to talk about.
There's no actual games being played, so we need to
make mountains out of mole hills. But the fact is,
even if this was a normal time and the NBA
Playoffs were underway or about to get underway, and Major
League Baseball was already in season, this still would be

(01:55:48):
a big story to many people. But it's Dak Prescott
not participating in OTA's without a new deal. Here's the thing, Rob,
they're violent, Terry, they're voluntary. I'm sorry, I'm not going
to make a big deal out of a guy not

(01:56:08):
participating in something that's voluntary. I'm just not if you
if it's essential, if he's gotta be there for the
good of the team and you can't hope to have
a good season without him being there, make it mandatory.
If you're gonna make a big stink when a guy

(01:56:28):
doesn't show up, make it mandatory. Otherwise keep quiet. I agree,
it's no story. It's voluntary. If he was missing the
mandatory mandatory time right or training camp, then you would
say that's an issue. But no, there's a voluntary workout.

(01:56:52):
I agree. I don't understand why they have these things,
the players, why they show up. I know there's a
lot of guys who are on the bubble Chris who
will show up. Of course they can't do anything, but
a lot of veteran players just don't come. Then they
don't show up. They don't all come to that because
they're voluntarian. As long as you're getting your working and
you got a trainer and you're doing what you need

(01:57:13):
to do, that's not going to alter anything. So I'm
with you. It's not a big big deal or story, right,
And you can see. I mean, we don't necessarily agree
with it because he's not social distancing, but you can
see that Dak is working out, He's throwing the football
and the offense isn't changing despite having a new coach
and Mike McCarthy, same offensive coordinator and uh you know,

(01:57:36):
same offense essentially. Now he needs to get in there
with McCarthy at some point. And you know, but here's
the thing, though, this is a part of a real thing, Rob,
This is Dak's leverage. They got to bring him back.
You agree with that, like all the money you spent elsewhere,
you got a new coach. And I'm not saying you
got to bring it back for forty million, but I'm saying,

(01:57:58):
you know, if his requests are reasonable. We've seen some
reports saying he just wants four years. They wanted to
give him five. Then you're gonna have to do what
he wants to do if he decides to go this
route for mandatory stuff. Yeah, but I don't think at
this point it's dragged on this long. I don't believe
they're gonna cave. I think they could have caved a

(01:58:19):
long time, Chris, a long time ago, if they really
wanted to do it. And I just think that they
are holding h towing the line here on Dak Prescott.
I'm not sure why, Chris, but it doesn't make sense.
This could this shouldn't even be a story with the Cowboys.
Everybody else on the team got paid. At least you
said you're not sure why. So it's not because they

(01:58:41):
don't believe anything. Thank you. No, that's what I think,
but I don't know it for sure. You know that's
not right though, you know that's just stick. I come,
Chris and Rob. We'll see you guys tomorrow.
