uh who works uh for a company that deals with Puma.
(02:15):

These are hot. I like him a lot. I've always
been a fan of Pumas and these are these are nice.
And you sent me a couple of ID couple T

no how T shirts that I not be wearing, but

(02:36):

shirts T shirts, but as I told you, could go
to a get Rob dot com We're just about sold
out on everything, just a few items left. Has been
a great uh week and a half, Chris. Yes, a
lot of people really into the show and and appreciate it.
Just want some odd couple of gear and stuff. So
(02:57):
it's been good. It really has a will we stop

you know what I mean? So this is it. Whatever's
left is left, and we'll come up with some new
stuff come the holidays. All right. Well, with that said,
we're gonna have Eno Benjamin running back for Arizona State,
top draft prospect in this year's draft, so we will
(03:21):
talk to him at the bottom of the hour. As
it is a lot of football, but also some basketball
that we'll get into today. Let me welcome in the
Eye Couple crew of course, DJ Alex tyshert aka Alex
the Vegan on the ones and twos and as always
the super producer running things, Rob g and on the updates. Hey,
(03:44):
it's our man, Brian Finley. Always a lot of fun.
So we got a great show coming your way. It
is a tight shirt Tuesday, sir, and also Rob, it
is what trash talking to Newsday. That's right, you can
(04:04):
call in in the third hour of the show six
six forty Pacific, nine forty Eastern and all you can
figure it out. In between Central and Mountain. You could
call in the Eye Couple, trash anyone or anything in
the world of sports. We ask only one thing. You
come strong, you come correct. So get your takes ready
(04:26):
for trash talking Tuesday. All right, Rob, So we're gonna
come in starraw and come in correct. The Tampa Bay
Buccaneers have traded this is a shocker with the New
England Patriots. They traded a fourth round pick in this
week's draft for a seventh round pick and Rob grin Kowski,
(04:51):
the tight end for the New England patri the Hall
of Famer soon to be Hall of Fame tight end
for New England, whose team up with Tom Brady so
well over the course of their career. And let me
start by saying this, robbing in, I'm quickly gonna give
you the mic. We had a bet. We had a
wing bet that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will make the playoffs.
(05:17):
Nothing you know, I didn't. We didn't bet Super Bowl
or anything like that. But I'm saying they'll make the playoffs.
I'm a gentleman. And we made the bet before this
news of getting drunk. So if you want to get
out of the bet, in the bet, eliminate the bet.
(05:38):
I'm gonna give you that opportunity. Absolutely not, no way,
no how. Actually I'll double the bet with you. Why
don't we have what we have? Ten? I thought we
had ten in a drink. Let's do twenty. I don't
have any interest in doing more than that, but yeah, twenty,
I think we had ten drink. Let's do twenty. I
(05:59):
thought that'll work. So obviously you're not You're not moved
by this, not at all? Is this on? Because I
hope they can hear us in Tampa Bay again, another
desperate moved by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I know you
haven't made the playoffs in twelve years, but obviously your
(06:19):
judgment has been foggy, and now that you have Tom
Brady in the fold, everything has turned into old timer's day.
What in the world is the Tampa Bay Bucks doing?
You know what? They've turned this franchise into a freak show,
into a circus, that's what this has turned into. Now
(06:40):
come see the old quarterback who's ninety five years old,
and when he first started playing. They used the real pig.
Come see the frat boy tight end who's better at
lifting beers to his mouth than catching footballs. And here
it is ron grind Cow Gronk. He ain't the competitor
(07:03):
he once was. He walked away for the game and
turned it too wrestling. He's not an athlete anymore. His
competitive juices are gone. And you shouldn't have to. What
in the world begged somebody and talk him into playing
You can't talk somebody into playing football. You remember Jay
(07:23):
Cutler's wife talked him in the play coming back. It
was a disaster. Your heart has to be in it
to play football. It is the most it's the dumbest
thing I've ever seen. You can't turn back the clock.
Let's go back to Gronk's numbers if you don't want
to believe it. Since two thousand and fifteen, Gronk has
(07:46):
averaged forty seven catches, seven hundred and sixty nine yards
and only four touchdowns. Not to mention he didn't play
last year. This is not the guy you want. You
had all these other young guns and young things. Pet
is that you claim you already had to bring back
a guy who had basically written off football for pro wrestling. Yes,
(08:10):
where there's a script and where you're not gonna get
hurt to come back and play football is a mistake
and the last thing I'm not hoping for this. I'm
telling you there's a great chance Gronk will be hurt
early on, before the halfway point of the season. That's
what happens. This is a mistake by Tampa Bay. They've
(08:33):
turned into a freak show. They've turned into a circus.
Stop it, Rod Parker, Now, don't clap for that madness.
That can't turn that corny music off, because I was
gonna yell it at the top of my lugs to
turn that mess off. I'm the poop poo kid. Only
thing dumb was that take. Come on, Rod Parker, that
(08:57):
is crazy, That is ludicrous. And I liked the way
that you again overstated everything to make it fit your narrative.
You know, the last time time Brady through he when
he get to the league, they were using real pigs
to throw the football, real pigskin overstatement, A guy that's
(09:21):
better at drinking beer than he is at catching footballs overstatement.
Last time I saw Gronk, he was helping them win
the AFC Championship, not to mention the Super Bowl. The
dude was coming through in the clutch catching footballs from
(09:43):
Tom Brady, not to mention how much great of a
blocker he was. And here's the thing. This isn't Michael
Jordan coming back to the Washington Wizards at thirty eight
years old. This isn't some old fogy who's done and
just misses the game coming back because he hadn't know
(10:04):
what else to do. Gronkowski is about to turn thirty
one years old. He's still younger, and this time off
will do him well because he's always had a problem
with staying healthy, always, always. His fourth year in the league,
(10:26):
he missed half the season. But this time off will
gave his body time to recuperate, gave him time to
get healthy. And I'm not predicting a Pro Bowl season necessarily.
What I'm predicting is it's another weapon you are you
are now in New England, they could focus on Gronkowski
(10:49):
the defense I'm talking about, because you didn't have any
other weapons with him, and he still did damage. Now
I have to worry about Mike Evans, I have to
worry about Chris Godwin, I may have to worry about
Gronk and another tight end if they want to go
(11:09):
those sets, which they certainly will on occasion. O. J. Howard,
Cameron Bray, whoever it is, Oh my goodness, Gronk hows
he's gonna see less attention than he has throughout his
career and because of that he will be effective. And
(11:30):
that's what if he's not, if he is old, if
he does get hurt again, what'd you lose nothing? You
still got a very good team. So this was a
great move. Rod Parker. You can put on your little
circus beat and music, you can make your overstatements, you
can do all of that to poo poo it. But
(11:54):
this was a strong move by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
that cannot hurt them in the least bit. It will
come back to bite them. And again it's another situation
of them being I get it. They haven't made the
playoffs in twelve years. Tom Brady shows up, so now
they're gonna give the key to the car. Let tom
(12:14):
Brady do what he needs to do to feel good
and forget the team and where they were headed and
how young they were. But it's fine, let's bring in
and Gronk is an old beat up thirty one. There's
a reason he wasn't playing. And again you watch and
see all the injury problems you've had, it doesn't make
any sense. You don't need Gronk and his numbers haven't
(12:36):
been good for years since twenty fifteen, so stop living
in the past. No, it's not straight up run in
twenty seventeen he had sixty nine the average in the
last four years. First of all, I was hurt in
twenty sixteen and four years when he missed, because that's im,
(12:59):
that's part of him being it's been good since twenty fifteen.
Said he has average passes. He tell sixteen he averaged
six ran Yowsky was not on anybody's team or not
playing last year because his heart's not in it. His
heart's not in No, you know what wasn't in it
(13:21):
his body because his body was beat up. What don't
you understand about that? Football? As you said, he is
the most brutal sport outside of boxing, and he was
beat up. He's I can say he's always been injury prone.
Keep living retired because he was beat down. Now he's
had a chance to rest for a couple of years
(13:41):
and again, maybe he won't be great, but what is
it hurt? Even if he's not, it doesn't hurt you.
You still stop you living in the pass. It's stop
thinking the pass. Were thinking about Tom Brady and and
Gronk with the Patriots. You're named the same all Wisden Award.
This is watching see this is he will be heard
(14:03):
at some point, so won't play well and everybody will say,
well what brand or Cameron Bright? Okay, well see it,
and not to mention my two good receivers. You got
an old quarterbacked onto a broken down tight end. This
is all wishful thinking. And we know you know it
because you're fudging the numbers. In twenty seventeen, he was
(14:25):
All Pro, first team, All Pro. He was a pro bowler,
average sixteen years, white, quick quick because he was a
pro bowler. He quit last year, right he was in
twenty eighteen. That's part of his story. That's part of
his story. All people, you shouldn't say, you shouldn't mock
somebody quitting because he was a pro bowler. How about
(14:45):
your boy Barry Sanders in Detroit, it happens. How about
Calvin Johnson in Detroit? It happens. This was a fine
move period then came down was talked into it tom Brady.
That's what they said. Tom Brady had to talk him
(15:06):
into coming back to play. Why in the world would
you let somebody talk you in the plane because down
this side you wanted to play. Didn't If you wanted
to play, he would have played. And even if you don't,
like I said, it's not gonna hurt the team. It's
not gonna hurt the team. All right, you're turned away.
In eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven,
(15:29):
seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine, did the
Buccaneers make a mistake when they decided to train for
Rob Grenkowski? We will continue the conversation with you. Next
is the Eye Couple, Christ and Rob Fox Sports Radio.

(16:11):
the Lows associates will recognize this Thursday during the Draft
right here on Fox Sports Radio. Coverage on Thursday begins
at APM Eastern with Jay Glazer, Joel Klatt and Peter Schrager.
That's a great trio right there, and they'll be predicting
and breaking down every single pick of the first round.
It's all brought to you by Los right here on
(16:34):
Fox Sports Radio. So let's get to the calls. You
went me, it can't hurt and it could help greatly
getting Gronk or you went Rob, dumb move, bad, bad
mistake by the past, Nick and North Carolina. You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Hey guys, how
are you doing? What's up? How are you good? Goody?
(16:57):
I'm not even gonna bother getting riled up about what
Rob says. He's been a broken record about Tom Brady
for the past seven eight years. So but I'm gonna
say I agree definitely with Chris this, this can't hurt.
I mean, how can you how can you pass this up?
Anytime you have a chance to reunite two guys who
created magic on the field, on the court. I mean,
you do you do it? I mean it's it's not
gonna hurt and um, you know, outside of Randy Mons,
(17:20):
I mean, Cronkowski has been Brady's most dominant, most dominant
teammate by far. So I absolutely agree with the movie
Good Call. I agree. How are you Columbus? You're on
OHI You're on in Columbus, Ohio. You're on the radio.
A couple of weeks ago, I did get the book,
so I'm did get a chance to read it yet,
(17:41):
but I'm gonna read it up. But I kind of
agree with vot. I didn't know. I say I'll go
with Rob because at first I'll kind of agree with Chris.
But it's the point of, you know, that's a roster
spot that someone else could have, if that makes sense.
It's kind of like doesn't make no. But but let
me say this, Chris, Chris let men say this because
(18:02):
he and at first I didn't agree with your point.
But Rob said the same thing when uh, when the
calves and I'm a big cashing when they when I
got Dwayne Wade and ros and now those guys. He
said it on the seat, He's like, get the it's
an all star team. Of two thousand and nine. You
(18:23):
remember that. Yes, that's a completely yes. And what happened
they random out of there. D Wade, thank you get
out of here. That's exactly right, Harry. What you can't
live in the past. What you can't live in the past.
Did it hurt him though, yea, because then to make
it had to change their entire roster. It was a
bad Dwayne Wins coming off the bench, Joe. They had
(18:46):
to make moves when they beat. If it didn't matter,
they lost. If ye done anyway, Chris, if it didn't matter,
they could have stayed on the team. If it didn't matter,
it didn't hurt. They still got exactly Harry's one of
percent right. And he just gave you what they call
in the business, proof of performance. Rob Parker again gives
(19:08):
you proof of performance. I'm just not talking. I'm giving
you examples and telling you when I was right about
the gave you the examples. You didn't give it. I
don't have to because people listen to what I'm saying
and they hold on to that knowledge. And it's even
better when people bring back the proof of performance market.
(19:28):
The odd couple of sports radio, what's going on gentlemen,
what's up? Um? Gronk is a broken down player, Chris, Really,
he's broken down. You don't know that. You don't have
to be joking that. Hey man, that dude got eight
some pains at thirty one. I'm sixty four. I still
got pains from thirty one. Trying to heal that dude
(19:49):
is hurting. Man. But here's what I tell you what
the mistake was made. They don't have a running game.
They could have took that, and when got Leonard Pournette,
then we're talking. That's what they needed. Their running game
will be fine. Teams so much attention to the passing game.
Nobody pay attention. How many people thought most Rashid most
(20:14):
was anything. He got cut by six teams. Stop it.
This time last year they were saying he was garbage.
They didn't make the playoffs with Mustard or Whatever's moment,
the one that broke the records in the playoffs. Oh,
I thought you were talking about somebody with the bucks
proof for performance. That's what I'm talking about. Let's move on.
(20:37):
Richard and West Virginia. You're on they couple of Fox
Sports Radio up her foot performance. Yes, when they have
they didn't make a mistake here. You know it has
three tom Brady that's behind getting Gonk. And when I
heard that tom Brady was going to them, I said,
they're going to play in the super Bowl just because
(20:59):
he's there. And when I just said another dimension that
I would say with him, they're gonna win the super Bowl. Hey, Richard,
all right, I'll have what you're having. Make mine a
double winning the super Bowl. Stop it the typical uh
every commedia, all right, here we go behind. That's why
(21:22):
last year Richard cold is the nerve to play last
game sitting Richard. Richard had the nerve to call up
here and say the same exact thing about the Browns
when they got OBJ, how that put them over the top,
and how they went from a million to one in
Vegas to fourteen to one. I remember all that. I'm
not letting me go you do now, Richard, don't call
(21:43):
here again with that nonsense. Richard, Keith car You're always welcome.
J D and Mississippi, you're in the eye couple of
Fox Sports Radio. Good afterning, guys, Thank y'all so much
for letting me go on. Yes, I got hope you
make the most of it, all right, thank you. Yes,
I'm with you. Brother. Ross got hard and he's been
(22:07):
training to the w W and his body's in shape,
so I don't think I ain't got no question about
his shape, but he got hard. Anyway, I think what
bust that team up was like Kraus would Chicagoo. You
know craw busted that team up. Oh yeah, well, I
think it was more Belichick than Cray. I don't know
he said in Chicago. The only thing that I've been
(22:29):
wanting to call in for about a week, and we've
been talking about Belichick. I think what the sleeper of
all this is with who wants to fill in for Brady.
I think Andrew Luck. Ain't nobody talking about him, and
I think I don't. I don't believe that's happening. Harvelous
for the Patriots, but yeah, I don't think that Andrew
(22:50):
Luck will be back in Indianapolis before didn't they have rights? Yes,
that's what I'm saying that. Please if he does come
and they paid him and they gave him his money,
no way with Frank rich why why wouldn't you even
I mean Rivers on a one year contract, So I
just don't you know what I mean like, there's no
way you're gonna let Andrew Luck go to New England nowhere.
(23:14):
That's wish we're thinking. All right, if your team is
looking for a running back this week in the NFL Draft,
they'd be wise to take a flyer or Eno Benjamin,
the stud out of Arizona State, joins us next, but first,
be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Broussard then Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm

(23:59):
Welcome to the Eye Couple. How are you, what's happening.
I'm doing good. I'm doing good. Thank you for having it.
It's great to have you on, man. I know this
has got to be one of the best weeks of
your life. Of course, the NFL Draft on Thursday, what
are you hearing from your representatives as far as you know,
what teams are really showing a lot of interest in you,
(24:20):
and where in the draft you could end up going,
what round and stuff like that. I mean, there's been
a few teams that I've been having consistent communication with
getting on FaceTime, whether it be zoom or just on
phone calls. I went a lot of teams I've been
hearing from my representatives expecting anywhere of a range of
(24:41):
three through five. So I'm just kind of waited two
days out from the draft, just kind of excited to
see how all them folds. You know. Unfortunately, with the
pandemic going on, so much has changed. Obviously a lot
of kids didn't have college graduations have been canceled, a
lot of different and things, and even you know, the
(25:02):
draft away it normally would shake out. Um, when you
look at this and just you know it's going to
be virtual and and done just just a little bit different.
Do you think that takes away from some of the
you know, top players who probably would would be on
site for the draft? Um, I mean just throughout this
(25:22):
whole Umkandadamic and what's been going on. M Definitely I
do think that there's some people who's going out there
um and not getting the opportunity that they deserve. I
was able, and it's less to be able to go
out there and compete in the singer ballum as well
as the combine. Uh. But for some of those guys,
as my teammates, who had the pro day to show
off their abilities and stuff like that and have that
(25:44):
event canceled um um, that kind of hurts them and
their opportunity to get picked up in this draft. Uh.
You know you played Robin and I both worked with
Herman d where your head coach of the Arizona State
at ESPN. Great guy I've obviously coached in the NFL
and obviously played as well. Do you feel like have
(26:04):
you had conversations with him? Has he taught you things
that you think will help make you a better prospect
and player in the NFL? Share, Without a doubt, everything
that coach Herns taught us as a program was about
being a professional, and that's the way we try to
run things, and that's the way we did everything and
how we went about our business as professionals. And so
(26:27):
when you asked if we had conversations, there was times
where we go in his office or I go in
his office and we'll talk about um, just life off
the football field as well as on the football field,
UM and so UM. I think it's just a huge
testament to not just only what Herman's building, but the
coaching staff and the team that he's took me putting
together as well. When when you have a coach like
hermand Wards, when you first realize he's going to be
(26:50):
the coach, do you how did people look at him?
Do you look at him? Because obviously has three different careers.
He was a player, he was a coach, but a
broadcast and a lot of people know him from that.
Uh did you look into his career or or when
you you know, when when he got there, did he
show you the biggest player he ever had in the NFL?
Or did you know anything about him as a player.
(27:13):
When we first heard the rumors of Herm what's coming in, UM,
I would say a lot of the people on the
players on the team was skeptical. You do your research,
you find out that Herm comes from a veteran, a
military background, and so you think, okay, he's coming from
the NFL. He's a strict guy military background. This can't
be good. Um. We just got through with Todd Graham.
(27:35):
This guy, he's probably gonna be worse or even more
strict than Todd Graham and stuff like that. But just
the first day when he came in, UM, he told
us that he was going to let the players be themselves. UM.
And I felt like UM ever since that day. Was
really one of the main things that made the players
gravitate towards him more. UM. Was just the fact that
they were able to be themselves and go about their
(27:55):
business the way they wanted to. And do you know
the great play that he was a part of an
NFL history? Do you know that play? Yes, what started
the victory formations? Yes, all right, play against the Giants
where all they had to do was kneel down. They
give it to try to hand off to Larry Zonka,
he fumbles it Hermett was picks it up and runs in.
(28:17):
I was watching that game and was stunned. But that's
a great moment in football. We're joined by Arizona State
running back and top draft prospect Eno Benjamin here on
the eye couple. Eno. Um, when you look at the
NFL when Rob and I were growing up, running back
was the running backs were the face of the NFL.
They weren't maybe equal with quarterbacks or maybe even above
(28:41):
que Jay and Bart setters. And I mean there's just
all these guys, biggest stars in the game, getting the
ball twenty five to thirty times a game, the best,
the top ones. Now, of course that isn't happening. There's
very few guys that are full you know, four down
or three down running backs in the NFL. They're not
getting paid, you know, equal to even wide receivers. At
(29:05):
this point, what do you think, I mean, have you
thought about that and looked at the diminishing of the
running back position in the NFL, and what do you
think about it? I mean, as far as that, my
job is just to go out there and play football.
I have no idea what all goes on in the
back end of what goes in too, as far as
(29:28):
second contracts, paying running backs and things like that. But
when you do, those are things you do got to
take note of and put on notice when you see
running backs are and getting paid. I do think the
running back position is an important, very important part of
the game on the offense specifically, and so maybe Hopefully
things who get changed, But as of right now, my
(29:49):
job is just to play football and let the rest
they tavi it sh up. But if you watch the
playoffs in the NFL and the teams that were in
the final four, they all had great running backs and
they all ran the full ball. Shouldn't that say something
about to the rest of the league that throwing the
football's cool? But you have to be able to control
the clock and give you give your quarterback up, give
(30:11):
it an option with a running game so that they
just can't come for the quarterback. Isn't a running back
being overlooked from that standpoint? Oh? Yeah, yes, sir, I
do believe that. Um. Like I said, I feel like
the running back position is a very very valuable position
on the field when it comes to success of the
team and winning games as well. You know, you're five nine,
(30:34):
two hundred and seven pounds, but you have a thirty
nine inch vertical So if I do my math correctly,
you're dunking. So are you? What kind of dunks are
you doing? You're doing some really nice dunks. Are you
just barely getting it over the rim? Or what I've
been doing? I can then, but I'm more of a
(30:55):
soccer guy. I get out there on the soccer field
and do my thing, man, not the basta really really Okay,
So have you dunk? Yes? I have? I have a
four year third Okay you just you not. You don't
have game in basketball, but you can't dunk? Oh no
I do, Yeah I do. I could play basketball, but
I prefer soccer, is what I should say. Okay, I
(31:16):
got you and you got the obviously the footwork from soccer,
so that'll be great. Yes that is. How does that?
That must help you as a running back? Right? You
was soccer your first sport? Yes, sir, soccer was my
first sport. Um, and then just going, I played soccer
all the way to my sophomore year. Um so I
was able to keep developing and developing, and so um,
(31:36):
I just I feel like, uh, my feet has a
brain of itself and it helps me get out of
sticky situations and then it helps me think quicker as well. Yeah.
That's one of the things, um, you know that scouts
say about you is that you're shifty, you got moves
and all that. So yeah, I'm sure a lot of
that comes from soccer. All right, So you're here on
behalf of Pannini. They have a role to rated rookiecuseries
(32:00):
they're doing, and you're one of the four prospects that
they're following as they prepared for the NFL Draft. So
tell us a little bit about Panini Pannini UM since
just really the day that I declared UM being coming
back home and just trying to get and feel those relationships,
step in the door and meet these guys, and Panini
(32:23):
was the one or the first ones that I came
home to. UM here located in Dallas. UM went up
there and we were just able to build a relationship
genuine people in the office in and out and just
the guys that they have working there and put them
in that time. It shows and it really seems like
they're caring. So have you they make trading cards of course,
(32:44):
and have you seen a trading card of yourself yet
that they've made, Yes, sir, I have, I have? Yes.
Their So what was that like now? Again, Robin out
a little older than you, when we were coming up,
cards were like that was the huge things to right
down by? Yeah, oh yeah, it was huge. It may
not be as big now, but was that what kind
(33:05):
of a thrill was that to see, you know, a
trading card with you on it. Um. For me, I
used to collect like WWE wrestling cards back in the day.
I'm not necessarily sports as far as basketball, soccer or football,
but just not having an opportunity to go into those
packages and when a kid opens it and hey, you know,
(33:26):
just knowing that you're there, Um, it could be someone's
favorite player and someone the cards that you've been waiting
for just so awesome. I'm an amazing feeling to have.
That's great. Well, look, man, as we said, it's got
to be one of the biggest weeks of your life.
We're happy for you and we hope you know it's
a great Thursday and you're going to have a successful career. Man,
So thank you for joining us. Yes, good luck to you.
(33:48):
And when I opened up my uh WWE trading cards,
I think I got one of Gronkowski in there, but
I threw it backhere. I knew where that thanks alrighting,
you know, Benjamin Arizona State, YEA, all right, And you
can get all your Pannini NFL trading cards featuring your
favorite players at Walmart, Target and I collect Pannini dot com.
(34:14):

the NFL Draft, we recognize the best, and Lows is
(34:37):
doing the same thing for their associates who have really
stepped up during this crisis. So do not miss the
Lows associates that will be highlighting right here on Fox
Sports Radio this Thursday during the NFL Draft. Coverage on
Thursday begins at eight pm Eastern time, again right here
on Fox Sports Radio with the great trio of Jay Glazer,
(35:00):
Joel Klatt, and Peter Schrager. Doesn't get any better than that.
They'll predict and break down every pick of the first
round and it's all brought to you by Lowe's all right, Rob, interesting,
you know, interesting, I guess, or maybe ironic. We've been
talking about Gronk and Tom Brady coming together. A little
(35:20):
bit of talk now about Antonio Brown and again. Obviously
he didn't play with Lamar Jackson, but you know, kind
of a guy from the past, or at least a
little bit in the past, trying to come back. And
Lamar Jackson was asked about would he, you know, want
Antonio Brown to be with the Ravens because they have
(35:43):
worked out, rob He's been working out with Antonio Brown
and Hollywood Brown, who's Abe's cousin, So that's the connection.
But Lamar Jackson said when asked about it, I'd be
happy if they signed a B but it's not my decision. Now.
I want to hear your opinion, rob On, if you
(36:04):
think this is makes sense or wise or whatever. But
first let me say this. I think Lamar Jackson his
answer is perfect, no need for him to get in
the middle of it. And a B is probably somewhat
of a friend, I guess, since you know, he's cousins
with Hollywood Hollywood Brown, and they're working out together, so
he's probably got a friendly relationship with him at the
(36:26):
very least. So he did the right thing. He puts
it out there. Hey, sure, I love him. He's a
great receiver. Too much, he didn't say too little. I
think he handled it well and put it on the
front office. That's their decision to make. And I don't
think they'll go out and out and get a B
which I think is a good move. But what are
(36:47):
your thoughts about it? Yeah, I don't know if he
could have said any more than he did given where
he is, despite his success, he's still a young player
in the league, and I just don't think you want
to get involved with player personnel decisions at this point.
As as well as he played last year, you don't
(37:11):
want to be like your demanding stuff and do you
know what I mean, Like last year went to your
head and now because you gotta keep them right. So
so I think that that's the way handle was probably
the best way to do it. Obviously, he's throwing the
ball to him. We know that Ab can play football.
That's not really an issue. It's more about the other stuff.
(37:32):
And given that he's a young quarterback, that's just not
for him to be getting involved in that. So I
think he did a good job and I agree and
I think Rob that right now. And you look, I
was one that said, hey, Tom Brady, Tampa Bay, why
not take a look at AB? And I think that
way they obviously didn't do it, but I thought maybe
(37:54):
they could do it because ab has so much respect
for Tom Brady and what he's done in the league.
I'm sure he has respect for Lamar Jackson his friends
with him, but he can't There's no way he can
respect him to the level he does Tom Brady. He
probably sees him more as you know, a peer or
even a guy under him, you know, just because he's
(38:15):
so right right right, because he's like, I've done, you know,
great things in this league. I'm probably a Hall of
Famer already. And so yeah, so he's not gonna be
able to be you know, handled, for lack of a
better word, as well as I thought Brady might have
been able to handle him. But regardless, I just don't
think this makes sense for Baltimore. I think Abe has
(38:39):
a lot to go through first. Obviously, he's got to
get through the legal problems that he has, but beyond that,
I'd want to see some type of you know, just
he has to go through some type of counseling or
something before I'd even look at him. If I'm a
team like Baltimore, well, yeah, we also have to see
about the other situations first. With the NFL, maybe they
exonerate him. I mean, I don't know, you know what
(39:00):
I mean, I don't know what the what the gist
of the investigations have come up with, because they haven't
ruled him ineligible, he hasn't been suspended or he can't
do you know what I mean. So so that has
to happen first, and then we can go from there
to see, uh, you know, where he is and how
culpable he is, Chris and those things that were levied
(39:20):
against him, because they were serious things, and what we
saw was, you know a lot of that stuff was serious.
The way he was yelling at it, the mother of
his children and you know, stuff like that. So he's
had some serious issues, but the ones facing him legally
are even more serious. So he does have a long
way to go before you know, he can play again
(39:41):
on the football field. All right, This Chris the Robb

He's done some great stuff during this pandemic to help people,
and we just want to talk to him about that
and highlight what he's done, So stay tuned for that,
and then of course a special episode of shop Talk
coming up on this Is this the fourth anniversary of
Prince's death. I can't believe years already. Yeah, I know
(41:11):
it doesn't seem that long ago, but so yeah, it
is the fourth year anniversary of Prince's death, so we
will talk a little bit about that. This is a
hint on shop talk all right, Rob everybody, it seems
is Wayne In on the Last Dance documentary about Michael
Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in ninety seven ninety eight
(41:33):
season their last together. You and I talked about it
all show long yesterday. We had David Falk, we had
who was Jordan's agent, We had Shock Shaquille O'Neill. So
we had some great conversations about it. And the always
outspoken Draymond Green is another person who weighed in with
(41:54):
his thoughts about it. He was talking with Uninterrupted, which
of course is Brian James and Maverick Carter's company. They
put out a lot of great stuff. So here was
Draymond talking about his thoughts on the documentary, and in
particular he compared it like the way that they knew
(42:15):
this was our last year together together. He compared that
to what they went through last year with Kevin Durant
in Golden State. That was kind of the elephant in
the room. And although Steve would kind of hit on
it of like, let's just enjoy this year for what
it is because we don't know what the next year holds.
It didn't carry necessarily carry the same way because what
(42:37):
should have happened was Kevin come out and say, hey, man,
like this is it, Like, so let's let's do this
or this isn't it? You know what I'm saying. But
you can't just lead an elephant in the room. Because
what happened was the question came to us every day,
like every time we spoke to the media, Clay and
myself was asked about our contract, and it was strictly
(42:58):
due to Heaven, you know, because while that was going on,
Clay was saying, I want to be a Warrior forever,
like I want to be here. We started this thing.
This is where I want to be. I'm saying, Yo,
I want to be here for my career. We started this,
we built this. I want to finish my career here
with the guys I started it with. And then you
kind of had Kevin like, I don't know what I'm
(43:20):
gonna do next year, like and it don't matter. But
it does matter because you're not the only person that
has to answer that question. Rob, I got a lot
to say about this, but I'm gonna let you go first,
because I'm sure you do as well. So what are
your thoughts on what Draymond said? I just don't understand it.
I really don't people ever right to be free agent
(43:40):
and just determined. Everybody doesn't know what they're doing when
you know what you're doing. You just said it. You
guys were drafted there. He came over from there right
as a free agent. He doesn't know if it was
a done deal, saying the contract. He said he knew
(44:00):
when you remember he was on the All the Smoke podcast,
I don't know, a month or two ago, and he
said he knew inside like midway through the season, he said,
like in January, you know, but you still don't know
if that could have changed at some point. I'm just saying.
And the only part that I really have a problem with,
seriously is if it was all about him and he
(44:22):
wasn't and he was selfish and really didn't give a
damn about the Warriors and their team, why did he
go out there off and injury Chris and further to
try to play for that team when a lot of
people thought he was crazy to go back out there.
Am I right or wrong? We don't know. I mean,
you're right there, he made it. Did he do it
(44:44):
for his teammates, that's certainly one way to look at it.
But he was gonna give the regard. No, yeah, they
definitely wasn't for money. It wasn't definite for money. So
I'm just I'm just saying. Also, we know he's got
what they call rabbit ears where he Here's that? I
get all that. That was the point of me and
him our whole brew haha. Was I said, Look, if
(45:06):
they win it without him, it's not gonna look good
for him or k D. Did he look at it
like because I hear what you're saying, Rock, it's possibly
came back because hey man, I've been the war with
these guys for two and a half years. I want
us to go out together as champions. But time I'm
gonna put it all on the line. Or did he
do it? Because now I can look like the hero.
(45:29):
I can prove to everybody that I you know, they
needed me, because that's been a narrative did they need him?
But but the only problem I happened that I came
back that narrative is he won two MVPs with that
they were aiden won. Chris, Come on, man, I don't
believe that. But I don't believe that. No, they weren't
(45:50):
great because they didn't win, but they weren't great. They lost,
They lost in the champions they were That's why they
went to get him. That's what they got him. I'm
I'm willing the other stuff. Don't tell me they weren't
a great team without Kevin Durant. They showed down to
three one lead deat choke two. W they great team
(46:10):
in that year? Three the three? Were they great that year?
They year or they didn't finished the job. They dont
know it weren't great. They weren't a great team that year.
They were choked down. No, they weren't. They won seventy
see the other team and be his regular season stopped
with that. And you're tired again because you hold the
three one choke against them, but you don't hold it
(46:33):
against Durant. It never happened in the final bad happen.
It does matter neary shift team. Every never happened ever, ever, ever,
the Yankees lost the four three old lead, first time
it ever happened in baseball. They got knocked over the
head for it. They should it had never happened in
(46:55):
the game of baseball. Up three old. All I'm telling
you is it's different from other serious series, being up
three to one for a team to win seventy three games.
It was the round, rob, it was the conference finals.
You act like it was the first round. I'm not fine,
it's as bad as the finals. But it's bad. It's bad.
(47:16):
You got a chance to win your first championship and
you're up three one on the best regular season team
in history. You don't play well in the last three games.
Don't poo poo that. But it don't say the finals. Nothing.
Championship for me bigger, But it's it's bigger because I'm
looking at a championship bigger up three to one. Act
(47:37):
like you did. You act like the rant it's some superman.
I didn't say that, but I'm just telling you about
the Warriors. Don't act like they didn't need to rant.
They went and got the rent because they choked. They
choked down a championship. If they were that great, they
wouldn't need him, Chris. They didn't sign them because they
like them. Jay knew that they need they needed it.
(47:58):
I think they could have came back that next year,
but they didn't won the championship, right, so we don't
know they've proved they could win the championship. They proved
they could run through the league and never proved championship.
They did. It could happen to anybody, And they're right.
They lost. They choked. I'm not holding it. I'm not
(48:19):
trying to wipe that away, but I'm just saying that
act like they weren't a great team is ridiculous. They
ran into Lebron James one, arguably the best teap player ever,
Kyrie Irving, another Hall of Famer. Why they weren't playing
chop Liver. But they a little credit too. They didn't
lose two games all year. To lose three in a
(48:41):
row to end the season, and two at home, it's unforgivable.
All right, Fine, that's Are you done talking about Dreymond
and his thoughts because I got my thoughts on it.
Go ahead, I get what he's saying in that. Sure,
it'd be nice if if kd you know at Let
me put it this way. I'm a direct type of person.
(49:04):
I think Draymond is too. I would rather somebody if
you got a problem with me, come tell me directly.
You know, you don't have to do it in front
of the whole team, But less you and I sit
down and go to dinner or whatever and talk it
out like men and then settle it and move on.
(49:24):
I don't need you to tweet something. I gotta try
to figure out what the heck you mean Instagram. I
gotta decipher some coding, or you're just sulking over there
when we gotta work together. Let's deal with it like men,
face to face. So I get that's what Draymond saying.
That's what happened with the Bulls. I wish that would
(49:44):
have happened with him. So I understand that perspective. But
I think what Draymond is overlooking is that Rob the
end of me. Like Phil Jackson, Scottie Pippen, Rodman and
Jordan had a common enemy, the end of me. The
guy that was gonna break them up was Jerry Krause
(50:07):
and Jerry Reinsdorf, the owner and the general manager. It
wasn't Jackson, Jordan or Pipping. If it had been, if
Phil Jackson had come to them and said, look, I'm
leaving after this year. I know we got something good going,
but I'm out of here, this is my last year.
Maybe it would have been different if Pipping would have
(50:29):
been like, man, I'm sick. You know, I'm sick of
this here, I'm out of here, and Jordan would have
felt like he's abandoned in them, or Jordan would have
been like that. Maybe it's different and they don't have
that common enemy that they can all focus on beating,
which was their front office and ownership. This would have
been a player in your locker room in the foxhole
(50:52):
with you saying I'm out y'all, and that might I
don't think it. I don't know that it would have
been a smooth this Draymond saying like if Kad came
to them in January, when, according to him on the
All the Smoke podcast, he realized he was leaving. I
don't know that, Draymond and then would have been like, Okay, cool,
(51:13):
let's go out and win one last one. Right, Maybe
they would have been resentful. And you make a good point, Rob,
he could always change his mind even though he's feeling
like in January, man out of here, he could have
you know, at some point he had time to change
his mind. So I think that's something that Draymond is
(51:35):
not considering. Here's the one place I'll put fault on
kd Is. He sucked and he admitted it again on
that All the Smoke podcast with Matt Barns and Stephen Jackson.
He said, Yo, he said, you know, when I determined
in January that I was out of there, you know,
(51:55):
I just went about my business. I didn't really talked
to nobody. I didn't really get down with nobody. I
just can't play basketball, and I was out. No, you
can't do that, And that shows immaturity on Durans for
he's always saying that to the media. Just ask me
about basketball. I just want to play basketball. No, it's
deeper than that. It can't just be I just want
(52:15):
to play basketball. You have to have a relationship with
these players, these guys who are your teammates. For two
and a half years, you were cool with them. You're laughing,
you're joking, you're going out with them, You're part of
the crew. And now of a sudden, you ain't rapping
with nobody, you ain't cool with nobody. We're not hanging
out anymore. And we're supposed to just overlook that and
(52:38):
go play basketball. Some of the greatest teams in sports,
they didn't all get along. It ain't you don't. I'm
not saying now you're always right. I don't believe in that.
I agree with you, Rob. I'm not saying you gotta
be boys, but it's at least if I know me
and you don't get along, at least side no, and
(53:01):
I know why we don't get along. This is a situation.
Never Durant and said we don't need you. We won
without you. Durant should have should the god should have
said something to him. No. But that's the guys he
saying everybody else. I'm just I'm just saying, I'm asking
about Raymond. Ask me what Draymond. He's the guy who's
(53:25):
got a problem with it. He's the one to cold
told Kevin Durant, we don't need you the B word,
we want without you, And now you're asking he's supposed
to tell you what he's doing. I don't get it, Chris,
I don't get well. Why is durand he feigned fiend
like they were cool. You we saw pictures and videos
(53:48):
of them walking in the shooter arres together laughing. He
just did what he had to do to get through
the world and that's where I that's my only like again,
it's the difference personalities. But Kevin Durad it holds things
in to himself. He does it his way. You know.
Here's the other thing with that, Rob, I agree with
(54:09):
you on this with Draymond. Draymond to your point, it
was wanting KD to tell him right. But yet the
way you got KD you think him jetty on y'all
was was hard. How about what he did? Okay? See,
and you were a part of it, and that's what
(54:29):
always so so it's like it's like when Miami, when
Lebron left pat Rodley in Miami, you got no right
to be mad. That's what I always You stole him.
You know when when when a when a guy uh
you know, gets with the or marries the girl he
was cheating with and then he shocked that she's cheating
with somebody else after you right, how did you get it? Chris?
(54:50):
You right, she was cheating on her. Man, she's gonna
be loyal to you, so you can't be made right.
So look again, I prefer I'm more of a straightforward guy.
Let's get it out and the open, let's clear the
air and do it, then move on and do what
we gotta do. That's not Kevin Durand's personality. I get
(55:12):
Draymond wishing it would have been more straightforward, but I
don't think it would have robbed. If KD had come
out in the beginning of the year and said that,
I don't know that that would have been meant smooth sailing,
you know what I'm saying. It still would have probably
been drunk. He needs to be said at that point,
if you know you can, it's up. It's your the
(55:33):
bottom lines is your right too. You do have a
right as a free agent, even if you know you
don't have to tell anybody and you can always keep
it open. Maybe I'll change my mind. So it's a
It's an interesting discussion, though, to say the least, all right,
we're gonna throw it out to you guys eight seven
seven ninety nine or fix eight seven seven ninety ninety
six sixty three sixty nine, that Kevin Durant owe it
(55:56):
to his Warriors teammates to tell them he was planning
to leave after the season. What do you think we
will continue the conversation with you next is Chris and
robbed the Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard
and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
(56:21):
All right, couple, we got a question for you. Do

Geico makes it easy to bundle your home and your

a quote and see how much money you could say,
and we can all could use a little money right now.
Geico dot com. It is easy. Also, it is Draft
(56:44):
week NFL Draft, and Lows is doing a special draft
of their own this year. They're thanking their associates who
are supporting everyone during this crisis. Do not miss all
of the Lows associates that they're going to recognize this
Thursday during the draft right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Coverage on Thursday begins at eight pm Eastern time, five
(57:05):
pm Pacific with Jay Glazer, Joel Klatt, and Peter Schrager
predicting and breaking down every single pick of the first round.
It's all presented to you by Lows right here on
Fox Sports Radio. All right, Rob, let's get to the
cars eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. All right,
let's kick it off with Coop in Seattle. You're on
(57:26):
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What you got, Coop.
That's how you guys doing great? Thank you? Uh And
this is an odd call because I'm I'm not mad
at didn't want it, Okay, so that's great. The thing is,
Kevin rand Uh, he had no obligation to tell Draymond anything,
(57:46):
you know, after he got the B board on him. Um,
he had no obligation at all to say anything cool
I mean in Raymond. And let me say this before
before I hang up some month Draymond. But soon he
got a little bit of same and played a little
you know, played okay, you know, play little plays great.
Let me be honest. He played great with that unit.
(58:09):
But I would I would, I would really say that
if he landed anywhere else in the league. I don't
know how good Draymond is, but you got to have
a good one. Stay safe, thank you. And this is
not called Rob And I disagree that much on you
know what I mean this topic. We we we saw
eye to eye on a lot of this for the
most part. Yeah, I just you know, I just it's
(58:29):
just weird to hear Draymond of all people saying, you know,
he should have told us what he was doing, you
know what I mean, maybe maybe you shouldn't have called
him to be worth Yeah, that's what I'm saying, Like, oh,
he's supposed to stay after that? Okay, I got it.
Well you should have thought. I'm saying you should have
thought after that. You bring up a point where I
was because they obviously were close, right, they were boys.
He's the one that mainly the one that got him there.
(58:52):
Maybe if they don't have that blow up in November,
maybe you know, him and Draymond are so tight and
so cool that he does tell him privately. But I
don't know. I'm just agree, and that confidence was lost, right,
it was lost? All right? Jabriel in Atlanta, you're on
the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? We're going on?
(59:14):
How you man? Yeah, I feel like he should have
at least, you know, told somebody, even though a lot
of people like trying to see it in anyway, But
I think he should have because without doing we only
know if you would have got the championship from that,
you know, they were solidified. They had the championship before
he got them. He went up for one reader because
(59:36):
he knew he would gonna get the championship. Though. Well,
but the only thing is, it's not like he just
jumped on the bandwagon and rode along and went to
the parade. I mean, he was the MVP of the
Final Club. So don't act like it was and KD
is on the all time great I was. I'm just saying, Rob,
come on, it wasn't. I I'm not And he did work.
(59:58):
He was the best player. You know, he was the
best player. If he was there and he didn't put
contribute or it was just like he was an afterthought
or the third option Chris, then I didn't I would
buy into that conversation that that's Rob. All I'm saying
is this, what if what if Isaiah Thomas, the Great
Isaiah Thomas the Legend went to the Lakers with magic
(01:00:21):
Kareem and audit and one championship and was great played? Well,
it's still you, Yes, you give him credit because he
was such a great player, but you still would have
been like, but I mean, they already were right close
right with him, you know what I mean, without it.
But but the only difference is and I get what
you're saying, but where they were coming from, Chris that
(01:00:42):
that's the only thing. I think you're acting as if
that didn't happen. No, No, they they they blew it, Okay,
But I'm just saying, yeah that, I'm just saying a
little They still could have won, Like I believe Rob,
they would have come back the next year and won
it whether or not they got Duran, But I'm not sure.
Rights watching Louisiana, you're on the yard A couple of
(01:01:05):
Fox Sports Radio what's up? Wats I called you guys
last year when Draymond Green said what he said to Dwayne,
I said, Look, I've been on those teams. You cannot
talk like that to the best player in the world,
the best player on your team, in front of everybody.
I've been in the locker room, I've been at practice.
You can fight all you want in private, bro, but
when we're in the middle of everybody and on national TV,
(01:01:28):
you're not gonna talk to me like that and be
on my team. Either you got to go or I
got to go. All right, I mean not what did
what didn't he say? That was true? And you know
it when you saw it. It's one thing to have
a little thing Chris behind the scenes. I mean, that's
as ugly as again the interesting thing Rob is And look,
(01:01:52):
KD calls cats out right, He's called me out. He
called stephen a out, He's called just random fans on Twitter.
You why didn't you call out Dre. I'm just saying, look,
I'm not saying everybody is Tommy hearns, you know, and
you're gonna fight everybody. But you can you can fix
(01:02:13):
that if you just stand up, you know, and you know,
I don't know, I don't know if that happened. All right,
It is the I couple, Chris and Rob, and we
got a special guest coming up right away. The sport
of baseball. They may never be the same. We'll get
into that next with our guests. But first, Fox Sports

which way is easier. All right, we're joined by Gary Green.
He's the owner of the Omaha Storm Chasers and Union Omaha. Gary.
Welcome to the Eye Couple. All right, thanks for having me.
How are you guys doing today? We're great, It's great
to have you on and and you're doing I mean,
(01:03:17):
what you've been doing during this this pandemic is just tremendous.
Can you tell tell us what you and your your
organization have been doing for people during this tough time. Thanks,
We're well. We've had a when this all broke, we
had a meeting and I was like, guys, look this
is important. What we're going to do over the next
period of time is gonna is gonna really define us
(01:03:40):
for a longer period of time. So so we have
this wide opening to make a difference in people's lives
as a community organization and UM, and it may not
be playing games in a field, but we need to
take this opportunity to step up. So we've done a
couple of things. UM. To start out, we had a
firework show where people stayed in their cars over the weekend.
(01:04:03):
We have five thousand cars show up. I mean, we
don't even have five thousand cars show up to a
sold out game. Oh and if people people loved it,
We've done We've done meals curbside. We had fifteen hundred
cars pick up meals. But most importantly, we donated over
forty five thousand masks to Nebraska Hospitals who are partners
(01:04:26):
in Omaha. And we were the first American team to
have our kit, our jersey sponsor be two competing hospitals.
And when I say sponsor, uh, it was. It's our
most valuable asset and we gave it away in the
spirit of what's happening in this country with the hashtag
on the back then the curve. So um, yeah, it's
(01:04:47):
been it's been an eventful a couple of weeks. And
you know, like any organization, we had to redefine ourselves.
Instead of being a soccer team and a baseball team,
we had to be a community organization first and foremost.
And maybe that doesn't pay off in dollars and cents
right now, but you know, building that in the community,
it's more of a long term investment. What do you
make of the what the commissioners talking about at just
(01:05:09):
some changes in the minor leagues. Some teams probably will
be uh, you know, lost as we move forward and whatnot.
What does it look like the economic ministy teams right
in the league as we move forward being in minor leagues,
they sell a lot of tickets. A lot of people
go to minor league baseball where they don't have major
(01:05:30):
league baseball. It's a big thing around the country. But
what will that do to the minor leagues? Is it unfair?
Is this just something that sometimes has to happen with
economics or what's your outlook on what the commissioner said.
I think there's there's a couple of sides to this story.
I think that that minor league baseball has been tremendous
(01:05:52):
in this country and the cities where it is. They're
they're great community leaders, and they do a lot for
charity and for those and for those communities. UM, some
of the some of the things with minor league baseball
that we've done wrong. And look, I'm part of the
minor league baseball industry and I need to be completely
transparent here. UM. The travels not as efficient as a
(01:06:13):
candy um, and you know, some of the facilities could
be upgraded. I think MLB was not transparent with what
they wanted from MLB from the get go. And now
that um, you know, the pandemic has happened. It's just
it's created some extra leverage from for MLB. But UM,
I think that Minor League Baseball will be strong with
(01:06:36):
whatever it is that Minor League Baseball is. I think
Major League Baseball wants to have a larger say in
what happens. And you know, look, we're developing their players
that were they're paying the players, So I'm okay with
giving them a better say as long as it has
a better product. If I owned one of those forty teams, UM,
(01:06:58):
I would. Yeah, I'd be very upset right now. I'd
be looking for dollars from MLB and those communities that
invested in those ballparks and use taxpayer dollars. You know
that's upsetting. But MLB has said they're going to keep
those teams involved somehow. It's just not clear how they're involved.
So I don't think baseball is not going to be
(01:07:19):
in those cities. I just think it's going to be
there in a different format. That's just my opinion. I
don't know that for a fact. Garry Green, the owner
of the Omaha Storm chases and Union Omaha joining the
I couple Gary the Obviously, baseball still has plenty of fans,
but you know a lot of surveys shows that most
(01:07:40):
of their fans are older, and among younger people, it's
behind Everything's behind football, but even basketball sometimes even soccer
and popularity. Do you worry at all about you know,
is baseball reaching the younger generation enough? And if if
you do have concerns about that, what do you think
could be done to uh to to solve that? Yeah,
(01:08:04):
that's a great question. So, um, we own a magazine
and digital platform called Baseball America and people refer to
it as the Bible of baseball. And and one thing
we had to do is get younger. So we have
the same headwinds that Major League Baseball does. So we've
become more digital, um less Prince um and just Edgier
(01:08:25):
and baseball and and I give Rob Man for credit.
He's trying to make the game younger in a lot
of ways by making it quicker. Um. And I'll give
you an example and this is not traditionalist at all,
but minor league baseball games. People don't like to stay
for extra innings for minor league baseball games. So do
you know when the tenth inning starts? Um? They start
with men on on first to second? And yeah, you know,
(01:08:51):
I can't even know. I just do up in my
mouth as a as a b b WA baseball writer
and Hall of Fame voter, I just don't. I don't
get that when when watching a baseball game, if I
want two whiles, I'll go to a minging on. Yeah, well,
(01:09:12):
you know, how about you know, how about the intentional walk?
Are you? Are you not okay with that? You think
I'm not? You know why? Gary? Another thing? How many
intentional walks are there in a game? Very few? It
doesn't save any time, it really, it really doesn't. I
don't know. I could guess. Is there one intentional walker night?
Is there none in the American League? But that doesn't
(01:09:34):
that doesn't make But this is this is the this
is the problem. You got the old school baseball fans
like you who love it for the tradition, but you
want the game to get younger. In order for the
game to get younger, you can't hold on to every
single tradition. You gotta let go some things to speed
it up. And maybe maybe the intentional walk doesn't speed
it up, but it's the accumulation of things. It's the
(01:09:56):
pitch clock, it's the it's the hitters clock, it's you know,
now it's gonna be you're having to face three hitters.
So every other sport has adjusted. The NBA had the
three point shot, where would the NBA be with that?
Baseball hasn't changed, and it needs to change. I just
I you know, I know baseball last year set a
(01:10:17):
record for money that the revenue that they had a
year ago. I get it. I understand we're trying to
draw in young people, but I just think sometimes you're
going at it the wrong way. Things like that. They
just don't speed up the game to me, putting people
on base, that's not how baseball's played. I hate college
football when they put the ball right Chris at the
(01:10:38):
twenty five yard line and over time. How is that football?
You want to just have a home run hitting contest
and forget about the game. Making an hour and a
half and people show up. Is that where we want
to go? I just I don't know. I don't Gary,
I can't get with that changing a game that is
a great game. When the game goes too long, you
know what I do. I get in my car, I
(01:11:00):
go home and listen to the rest on the radio.
That's what I do. Yeah, but you know, the kids
who are twenty, you want to get the games to
get younger. There's certain things you need to tweak. Now.
I agree, the people at the game aren't the ones
that are complaining the games too long. It's the people
watching on TV that are that are complaining the games
too long. It's interesting. So anyway, I think they do
(01:11:22):
need to do some things to change it. And um
and I think Manfred is he's he's trying different things.
You know that now they're looking at the robo umps,
which you know they have they kind of have that
in tennis. They have that in tennis now. And if
you go to a tennis match, I like probably the
most exciting, the most exciting part of the match is
when people are clapping the seeing if a ball went
in or out. Right, Gary, this was great. This was
(01:11:46):
livelier than I expected. And you and Rob I was
just I'm not able to just observe you guys, go,
I already know I was gonna get worked up. And Gary,
I love baseball, It's my number one. I love baseball,
and I'm not a dinosaurd. I don't believe like nothing change.
I'm closed some fossil fuel maybe, but I just I
(01:12:08):
just don't want the game to be ruled that. That's all. Yeah,
But we got to keep the game popular, and we
got to keep the game attractive to younger people. And
so your definition of keeping the game may not be
the same definition as growing the game with the younger generation.
That's all I'm saying. All Right, that's Gary Green, the
owner of the Omaha Storm Chaser's minor league baseball team
(01:12:31):
and union Omaha. Gary, great stuff. We appreciate your time,
and again, what you guys have been doing in the
community there is just tremendous, So we applaud you ally.
Thanks so much. Thanks for having me. Yep. Alright, all right,
two of the greatest to ever do it are about
to go head to head. And we don't mean Rob
Parker and Chris Bruce had That's next is the acable

it's time for shop talk. Nobody ain's little been a
bomb shop. You know that, Ain't nobody ain't You will
talk about whoever, whatever, whatever you want to in the boat.
It's shop talk, Yes, sir, this shop talk to our
(01:13:58):
couple of Fox Sports radi who do the every single day.
We discussed something that happened outside of the world of sports,
and today's topic comes to us from the world of music.
It's a heavy heart it's a Ford anniversary of Prince's passing.
A tough time obviously back then, but he didn't give
us an excuse to listen to with music today all day,
which was nice. And guys, here's the question, who was
(01:14:20):
the better entertainer, Prince or Michael Jackson, Robins, that were you.
As much as I love Prince, I really did the
Prince was an unbelievable entertainer, dancer, singer, could play a
million instruments, all that other stuff. If I have to
pick outs, to pick Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson from as
(01:14:45):
a kid all the way through some of the greatest albums.
The accomplishments are through the roof for Michael Jackson. And
it ain't like he didn't put on a great show
and didn't dance and singers way for years that we
got to know him growing up. I'm sorry to me,
it's Michael Jackson. Yeah, it's clearly Michael Jackson. I think
(01:15:10):
Michael Jackson is the best American entertainer ever. Wow. And yeah,
I mean, like you said, rob he did it from
the time he was what six seven years old. I mean,
if you go back and look at the poison, look
at him Chris leading his bigger brothers. You remember that,
right they were teenagers. Yep, yep, No, you're absolutely and
(01:15:33):
he was clearly the star. He was a star and
the leader. Yeah. And look I was like, you robbed
a huge Prince fan. But as great as Prince was,
and he he is, was tremendous for that five six years,
I mean, he was awesome. I still don't wouldn't say
it was Michael Jackson, but he was ruling, you know,
(01:15:55):
pop music. But he had a run of what when
he was on top, it was what seventy nine to
eighty five, eighty six or something like that. You know,
So when you compare that to a lifetime with Michael Jackson,
I just don't think it's comparable. It's interesting because Shannon
(01:16:15):
Sharp when he and Skip were talking Skip Bayliss were
talking yesterday about you know, the Last Dance, and of
course they got into the Gold conversation Jordan or Lebron
and Shannon was trying to make the argument that well,
you can he said, look, Michael Jackson's more accomplished than Prince,
but you can argue that Prince was better that he
(01:16:37):
was the Gold because he could play more instruments. You know,
he's more versatile. And here's my thing what I say
about that, Rob, At some point, accomplishments gotta come in,
Mike when we talk about the best rapper of all time.
I might be able to go into you know, a
part of la where they got a bunch of underground rappers,
(01:16:59):
or the Bronx or Brooklyn and there's some cat with skills,
lyrical skills, punchlines flow, all that. That might be better
than Jay Z and Emminem and you know, all these
great rappers. But if he didn't accomplish anything, how are
you gonna say he's better? You know, No, I understand.
(01:17:24):
I think the accomplishments do matter. And it ain't like
he's just a singer and he didn't write any of
his own material, do you know what I mean? Like
he did all that, He wrote many song He wrote
a lot of songs for all the people up with
those songs on his own. Yes, yeah, right, Rob G.
I know you're a prince guy. Let me hear your argument.
Why would you assume that I'm a prince guy because
(01:17:44):
I'm just no. I actually prefer Michael Jackson's music hands down.
I think Prince the fact that he plays his own instruments.
I think it puts him over rather than Michael Jackson. Yeah,
because Michael Jackson because he can say and dance, and
that's great. But when you're talking entertaining, thick as good
as Michael Jackson's overall, I just said, I like Michael
(01:18:07):
Jackson music, but okay, he was. The question is who's
a better entertainer, and if, if, if I want to
see a guy who can do literally everything on the stage.
Just like when I talk about this radio show to
people on Twitter, the only person on this show is
indispensable is Alex Eisher because he's the only one could
do something that we all can do, which is because
me and House could host the hell out of this show.
It'd be great. I'm just saying, I'm just saying beside
(01:18:32):
himself but delusional. There's something to be said about being
multi talented and being able to wear a lot of
hats that I find Michael Jackson's dancing, Yes, couldn't. That's
not enough. He's very his movie. When you're at this level,
you're splitting hairs, you know, it's just like comparing of time.
Of course, for my money, as far as entertainment sing
(01:18:52):
a guy do five different instruments and seeing the entire thing.
I'd rather. I think Prince is longevity and his career.
Michael Jackson had a historic career. They both had starting career. No,
he did not as long. Prince wasn't as long as
Michael Jackson. There are many guys who've had runs like Prince,
not like Michael Jackson. One hour Left. Be sure to

I'm NBA champion. Uh And now he's a pregame and
post game host for the Chicago Bulls on NBC Sports,
as will produce. So we'll get him in about twenty
eight minutes or so. Um. But right now we've got
a special guest. He is the executive vice president of
(01:20:19):
NFL Football Operations. Played the game as well. I'm sure
you remember. He was a five time pro bowler. Oh,
Troy Vincent a hard hitter too back then, Troy, what's up? Man?
Welcome to the Eye couple. How you all doing this evening?
I hear you to think Michael Jackson and print all right,
so what's your what's your answer? What's your check? That
(01:20:42):
glove and that moonwalk man? Not Michael Jackson, no question,
ran right, And that's not the this prince. It's just
that Michael Jackson was all around entertainer, dancer, singer, he
wrote his music, he did everything everything and then long
ja Yes, different I thought it was. It was a
(01:21:03):
different audience now when you can move the guys on
the block, man, Mike had everybody going crazy, right right, No, question.
I mean and Prince, like you said, Rob, it's great, tremendous,
but right, Michael Jackson was just in the league by himself, period,
and so, uh so that's great. So we off to
a good start, Troy. But you you did something well.
(01:21:26):
The Players Coalition, which we know as the group that's
that's been led by players like Malcolm Jenkins and others,
and Inspire Change, which is the NFL. They came together
and they donated basically like three million dollars to aid
people in various cities during this pandemic, the coronavirus. And
(01:21:49):
that's tremendous in and of itself. But one thing you
guys did is you made sure the money was geared
toward helping communities of color scifically because they're being hit
the hardest. African Americans and Latinos are being hit the
hardest by this virus. Can you kind of talk about
how this came together and why you guys focused it
(01:22:11):
the way you did. Yeah. So, you know, we watched
like everyone else, as science came out, as the medical
field was talking about how the pandemic the virus was,
you know, basically it was in every city, and as
weeks progressed. More science and more studies came out. You
(01:22:34):
saw that there was a and it was brought to
to you know, to our attention as we were studying
it from a few of our colleagues internally, and Malcolm
was he did a PSA and what the science was saying,
it just was alarming. One day you wake up, you
see it hitting all the different cities. And then one
way one morning we wake up and doctor Fasci was
(01:22:59):
talking about out the disproportion of African Americans and Latinos
that was dying. And then after the second and third
day it was like whoa, Like this is this is real?
And then the players, the commissioner, they got together and
they just said, you know, they just start studying, like
literally studying which of these cities are these people of color,
(01:23:24):
blacks and Latinos are dying. And they got together, both
owners and players, and went into Baltimore, identified like seven
different states Atlanta, Georgia, Baltimore, Maryland, Chicago, Illinois, Detroit, Florida,
down in Miami, Dad, Louisiana, and DC and specifically geared
(01:23:46):
the money a little over three million dollars towards hospitals
and Grassroot organizations that were carrying in the front line,
the caretakers and those first responders, that we're dealing with
black and brown people, which was not that others not important.
But you know, we have the draft of time where
(01:24:08):
we're you know, we're partnering and we're raising money throughout
the draft for national organizations. But the players said, the
players coalition in the leader in the leadership group from
the owner side, and the commissioner said, Okay, we got
to focus in on these cities because these numbers are alarming.
You can't ignore them. So just tremendous leadership on their behalf.
(01:24:28):
That's great. Yeah, definitely awesome to understand what's happening and
putting money where it needs to go, you know what
I mean, not that it doesn't go everywhere, but but
you know, zeroing in on area's hardest hit Troy. You know,
there's a lot of talk the NFL seasons ways away.
(01:24:49):
We don't know what's going on. Some states are starting
to reopen. We don't know how long it'll be before
sports has started up again. But when you hear are
the scenarios and circumstances where people are talking about bringing
players to a place quarantining them for three or four
(01:25:10):
months where they can't see their family or wives or
kids and or anything to play sports. I don't know
if that would work if I was a player, if
I would be gamed with that considering what's happened in
the country. Can you help me to explain why someone
would be willing to do that be a way not
make love to their wife or hug their children for
(01:25:32):
months just to play ball or I would I'm in
my position, that's not something that that would be something
I would recommend to membership in order the commissioner there
has to be other options. But to me, when I
hear that, that's not reasonable when you start talking about
(01:25:55):
family and displacing the sport is one thing, but the
sport is a by prod of everything else that we do.
That's that's the truth, and that would not be in
my current role as I do reasonable planning, contingency planning,
responsible planning. I would I would sit and across from
the commissioner membership. That is, as much as we want
(01:26:18):
to play here, we're in a position where we can
learn from other sports and because we're not in our season,
so we have an opportunity to sit back and learn.
But Rob, to displace family members and this is all
about family, right, the game would be gone, and it's
it's about family, the people who truly love you in
your character. That's not to me. I don't know if
(01:26:39):
that would be m to me. That's not reasonable planning.
And I don't know of our if the players, frankly
the coaches, I'm not sure if that's the place that
we want to be in. Troy Vincent, Executive vice president
of NFL Operations, joining the eye Couple'll go ahead, Rob,
because I just hear people throw this stuff out, and
(01:27:01):
I just say to them, do you realize that these
players are people and have families, and God forbid, you're
away at a time where people are dying and you
know what I mean, and you're not there. Because I
just when I hear people talk, I don't think that
they look at players as people who are part of
this and who have family members who are living this,
(01:27:22):
children who are allowing this very callous, very callous. So yeah,
I just again, as we playing, as as the team
and I are together, that is something we look, we're listening,
we're watching. But to displace families, husbands from their their families,
their mothers, their sisters, their daughters. I'm not sure if
(01:27:45):
that's the place we want to be, and that's not
that's not being the model that I would say that
we want to be. Troy are there because we've seen
a lot of scenarios thrown out and some maybe media
members are just throwing them out, but most of us
watching this assume that these are leaks, you know, coming
from the league, coming from executives, and a lot of
(01:28:07):
times it's executives just on league teams talking about this scenario,
that scenario. Are there a lot of scenarios you're seeing
out there on the television, on the radio that really
aren't based in fact that the league's not really considering,
but people are talking about them like their real possibilities.
That those things are just that's gossip, that's news, that's clickbait.
(01:28:31):
We're getting our direction clearly from the medical community. We're
not even moving, we're not thinking we're planning to have
a full season until the medical community tells us differently. Today,
the stay home orders tell us there is no draft
in this current state, so there's a virtual draft. The
(01:28:54):
current stay home orders are telling us that there is
no off season today. You have to do those things virtually,
so our planning will be will be predicated upon what
the medical community tells us. When that time is, we
could potentially just return back to work. So I just say, Chris,
(01:29:19):
that's along, that's just media talking. I don't know who
those executives are from different but we haven't even gone
that far. Our focus is on what the federal, state,
and local governments are telling us what we can and
can't do. Try let me ask you. The big news
of the day was obviously Rob Grindcowsey coming out of
(01:29:39):
retirement getting traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to reunite
with Tom Brady. Now we know when he's young, he's
only you know, gonna be thirty one in May. We
know when he retired his body was beat up. You
haven't played the game a full career. Is it possible
because I'm I'm saying getting the year off, you know,
(01:30:02):
he's still young, it probably did his body good and
he should be able to you know, he may be
able to come back and be fine physically. After you've
played the game for ten years or so, does a
year off do that for you? Or is that kind
of wishful thinking. No, absolutely, I think you have to
stay active and the more you age, you want to
(01:30:25):
be you want to stay as active as possible. Now,
at the end of the day, he at least he's been.
He shredded some pounds with what you're seeing, so he'll
come back at at least lean. But a year away
from football, he'll connect. I mean he'll, he'll, he'll, he'll
get his body. Will he be the same? Hey, that
(01:30:47):
was a machine up there in New England, right, I
mean that was a complete machine. They were connecting. To
try to transfer all of that down. To understand the
Brady and his connection to transfer that down to Tampa,
only God knows. But it is tough to take the
year off and come back and play at that same well,
(01:31:09):
unless you m Jay, Well, all right, I'm glad you went,
no doubt about it. I'm trying to tell Chris it's
a circus going on down in Tampa, That's what it is.
I'm wanting to see the bearded lady next to the
dinosaur quarterback at the frat boy tight end. That's what
i want to see see. He's taking division. Oh yeah,
(01:31:32):
the division, the plafs t They're not making the playoffs.
Chris and I have a wings bet. We got wings
on it. I got them knock the playoffs. You got,
You got New Orleans down, You got breeze. New Orleans
can make it too. But remember it's an extra team too.
Now there's seven in each conference. If you think Atlanta
is gonna be down, another year down, another year crazy
(01:31:56):
with sugar up? Thank you tell them, Troy? All right,
last you gave us between m J and Prince. You
gave us m J, Michael Jackson, m J Lebron Um.
I grew up man. All I knew was was Michael Jordans.
I love Lebron, but I wanted to be everything that
Michael Jordan represented. When I was watching The Deal the
(01:32:20):
on the other night, I was, I went down series
and I shared with my wife. I wanted to talk
like this man. I tried to walk, I was. I
was already pigeoned toe. I wanted to be more pop,
wanted to be just like Mike, but I wanted to
be just like I love Lebron every in this generation,
I mean fabulous, But Mike transcended the game, right right,
(01:32:42):
He transcended the game. Troy, and I need to get
you on the show to fill in with me one day,
you know, and Lebron too. No, I know that, but
I mean we eye to eye on everything that's not
that good and good. It is eye to eye with
Rob Parkers anytime. Come back to the show. Thank you. Thanks, yep,
(01:33:10):
you two, you and your family, see you all right,
Rob Parker says, the Buccaneers trading for Rob Grindkowski reeks
of desperation. I think something reeks, but it's not Tampa Bay.
All right, we'll get into that. National Fox Sports Adio,

He he was with Rob g on Prince Prince is
better and this was a shot. This is a shot
(01:33:55):
at me and you. I hope you know that. Who
is this? This is Prince right now? This is a
great song. Is taking a shot at us. He didn't
come back with rock with You or or Billy Jean
or something. You noticing I'm just saying, I'm just saying.

are working with Lows and Lows is doing a special
draft of their own this year. They're thanking their associates
who are supporting everyone during the crisis. Don't miss all
the loads associates that they're gonna recognize this Thursday, two
days from now, during the NFL Draft. Right here on
(01:34:57):
Fox Sports Radio, coverage on Thursday begin is at eight
pm with Jay Glazer, APM Eastern Jay Glazer, Joel Clapp,
Peter Schrager predicting and breaking down every single pick of
the first round is all brought to you by Lowe's
right here on Fox Sports Radio. All right, Rob, you
you don't like the pick, pick up, I should say
(01:35:20):
the trade the Buccaneers getting Gronkowski, and obviously we don't
know what he's gonna come back like. But my thing,
I like it. And my thing is, even if he
can't play a lick anymore, even if he gets hurt
in training camp, it don't hurt you. It doesn't hurt
(01:35:41):
you at all. I just don't. I don't look at
it like that, Okay, I just don't. I just don't
look at it like that. I look at it as
Tom Brady living in the past. He's come to Tampa
Bay Gronk. He had to beg Gronk out of retirement
to come play Gronk. To me, has given up his
compa head of avedge when he decided to do wrestling
(01:36:02):
and go buy a script rather than compete. I just Chris,
I just all the signs there are are bad for me.
And it comes off like a desperate move by Tampa
Bay to give Tom Brady carte blanche whatever he's looking for.
I guess feels like old timer's day. Hey, let's get
the band back together. Remember Gronk used to be the
(01:36:24):
tight end. I know he's young, but his body's been
beat up. If you look at his numbers over the
last four years since twenty fifteen. The average, they're not good.
The average, he would hurt a lot. And he's an
old thirty or one for a guy to walk away
from the game, uh, and walk away from money and
(01:36:44):
say he doesn't want to play at thirty one, there's
a reason why. There's a reason why the Patriots didn't say, no,
we're not gonna trade your right, you're gonna play for us, Well,
we'll keep you. They didn't have to have a fourth
round pick or whatever whatever been looking at tradeing. Remember
they were looking because I don't think there's anything. I
don't think there's anything there left. But my point is,
(01:37:08):
I just think it looks like Tampa Bay has turned
into a circus. And and that's the way I look
at this move. I look at it as desperate living
in the past, old timer's day and uh. I hope
he stays healthy, But but the chances of him staying
healthy Chris aren't good. I believe Gronk won't even make
(01:37:28):
it past the halfway point of the season, and he'll
be hurt again and decide he doesn't want to play,
just like when Jay Cutler's wife had to talk him
out of retirement to get him back on the football field.
It didn't end nicely, and I don't think it's going
to end nicely. Well if you if that's the way
you're looking at it, you need to trade in your
reading glasses for some full time frames because you're not
(01:37:49):
seeing clearly. My friend, I just you said that, did you?
So you wear him yet? I didn't get him, but
I went to the eye doctor. Yeah, so you're gonna
have to get him twenty fourth not at all, just
reading glasses, but I just got something a little strong. Yeah, yeah,
you you real close. I ain't close. I can see
when I'm drinking. I don't need glasses, all right. But anyway, Uh, look,
(01:38:15):
everything you just said, not most of what you just said.
I could say about who Michael Jordan? Why is he
retiring at thirty one? What? Why? Where's this competitor to
go play minor league baseball? Stories that you find out
Charter and the documentary, there's an underlying story. What all
(01:38:38):
I know is I could have said the same exact
thing and he was able to come back. Now, great,
he's Michael Jordan, but Grock not Jordan, of course, but
still a Hall of Famer and all time great. He's
not coming back if he doesn't want to play. He's
a smart guy. For all these antics, you know this Rob,
(01:39:00):
all his annex, all his party boy, frat boy reputation,
Gronk is smart. You know. He doesn't spend any of
his salary. He lives off his endorsement money. He doesn't
need the money. He's smart. So he's not He's not
gonna go out there and ruin his reputation, you know,
(01:39:21):
ruin his body if he doesn't think he can do it.
And so again I don't I'm not saying he'll be
the old Gronk. He might, but he might not. But
what I'm saying is this doesn't hurt them. You still
have two other great tight ends if you don't trade.
If you trade one of them, you still got another
good tight end, and you're two good receivers and grunk Rob.
(01:39:45):
Even his last year in New England, he was a
good blocker, beyond a good blocker, so at even as
his body was breaking down, he still brought a lot
to that offensive line and that team with his block
in ability. So I think he'll be at a block
and I think he'll you know, the attention will be
(01:40:05):
on Godwin and Evans and maybe when they got one
of the other tight ends in and Gronk is gonna
have more freedom and more room to operate than he
ever had in New England. So I think potentially it's
it's really high risk low or high reward low risk
(01:40:25):
in my opinion, because if you're right, and it's possible,
he gets hurt early, doesn't really play much. They still
got weapons, So what's the problem, that's all. I just
think it's it's living in the past and the whole
Brady parade, and Brady said that after Orlando beat Jordan
(01:40:46):
and the bulls, oh it's over. Oh, so here we go.
That had something to do another three people. But Jordan
tried to come back and snick in the back door.
After the truth comes out, it was a mistake in
Michael Jordan, it was a mistake coming back and coming
back to Way trying to sneak into the playoffs after
(01:41:07):
not playing that year he played seventy was good for
him because if he was, he should have been arrested.
Hem to know, because he hadn't been playing basketball. Okay,
there you go, and Gronk has have been playing football.
But Gronk's gonna have a whole training camp off seat.
He's got how many months before the season if it
starts on time, several months to get ready. Jordan didn't
(01:41:29):
play any basketball all the way games. Okay, that's the
case with every uh yeah, that's funny football player who
was big? Right, how's that happened? But you know what
I'm saying, rockets, we see how's that happened? That's interesting,
But we see some of those big linemen and then
(01:41:49):
all of a sudden, whatever whatever made him big then
can make him big again. Though. Okay, it's the odd
couple Chris and Rob. All right, who's really to blame
for the death of the Chicago Bulls dynasty? Four time
NBA champion Will Purdue has the answer next, But first, Chris,
don't forget. Also, if you want to chime trash talking,
(01:42:12):
it is talking trash talk. Two. That's right. You should start, honestly,
start blinding up now because these these they go fast.
The spots go fast. Everybody wants to weigh in, but
everybody don't get a chance. So call in now eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. You can trash anyone anything
(01:42:33):
in the world of Sports, including The Odd Couple. If
you so choose, be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeartRadio app. The I Couple coming you
live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's easy
to say fifteen percent of more on your car insurers
(01:42:54):
with Geico. Go to Geico dot com or call eight
hundred nine four seven a UTO. The only hard part
is figuring out which way is easier. I'm so pleased
to have our next guest on. He's a four time
NBA champion with the Bulls and the Spurs, so different
perspectives on winning. Uh. For this gentleman, I see him
around the league, you know, as I've been covering it.
(01:43:15):
He does a great job for NBC Sports as the
pre and postgame analyst for the Chicago Bulls. Will Produe,
Welcome to the I How are you, man, Christ and Rowl.
I'm doing well, man, but I'm starting to lose my
voice a little bit. It's been a long two days.
After Sunday, I can I bet every show everywhere, right,
no doubt, I bet go ahead. It's good to finish
(01:43:39):
with the bang on Tuesday. That's right, That's right. That's
what we're doing too. That's what we're doing. So well,
let's start off here, because I gotta be honest. Will
you know, I saw you when you were a player,
I've seen you now as an analyst and all that.
It upset me watching the first two episodes because I
(01:44:01):
was and I knew some of it as a reporter,
you know, when that was going on, But just seeing
it again and seeing it in a deeper way, it
upset me because I was looking at it like Jerry
Krauss and Jerry Ryansdorff broke up this dynasty prematurely. Now,
I don't know if they would have come back and
one to fourth straight or not, but I felt like,
(01:44:24):
you gotta let them either retire and walk away on
their own or get beat on the court by another team.
Is that it was it Krous and Ryansdorff or do
you see it differently? Well, I think that's where it starts.
But in my opinion, it wasn't just those two. Listen,
(01:44:44):
I'm not necessarily pointing the finger at Phil Jackson, but
I'm also going to tell you, and I think that Chris,
you'll agree with this. Phil was a mastermind of manipulating
the media. And I don't mean in the sense that
he treated you guys like a bunch of idiots and
played you guys like puppets. But there was no social
(01:45:05):
media back then, so you guys needed material, guys, you
guys needed substance, you know, and Phil knew that you
guys needed information. And we learned years later that Phil
was kind of like the insider to Sam Smith's book.
(01:45:27):
You know, Phil, Phil was, you know, giving out little
bits of pieces of information. He was known as his
enmaster or the chief of the triangle. But you know
that's where Phil and I read this somewhere. I'm not
going to take credit for it, but I read this
somewhere this the other day. Phil was the son of
(01:45:50):
a minister who did what he had to learn how
to grasp his congregation, get them to engage. Shill learned
how to do that. Shill was a people person. Phil
knew how to engage us, the players. He knew how
to engage the media. He knew how to engage the fans.
(01:46:13):
But he knew in order to do that, the only
really way to do that was through the media even
and how about you know when he used to control
the narrative whenever we played the New York Knicks and
talk about, Oh, I'm not supposed to do this, but
unless they do something about the officiating, this series is
gonna get really ugly. Oh are we gonna focus on
now the officials? Right? And what you're saying, what Phil
(01:46:38):
or will, is that Phil was leaking a lot of
this stuff that made the front office look and ownership
look negative. Well, he wasn't necessarily leaking specific facts, but
by my point was Jerry Krauss, on the other hand,
was just the opposite. He was not a people person.
(01:46:59):
He despise the media. He didn't see how the media
could help any situation. Plus he was also a guy.
As the years when along became very thin skinned and
very resentful. I always talk about, you know, we moved
over to the Burdo Center. As I would get the
practice early, you'd look over and there'd be a copy
(01:47:21):
of the Daily Herald, the Chicago Sun Times and the
Tribune waiting for Karen Stack to pick up as she
went in. Then to give the Jerry Krause because he
read it cover to cover? What did they say? What's
going on? What my instead? What are they saying about me?
You know? And I think that towards the end of
that run, for whatever reason, something changed between the first
(01:47:42):
championship and the second championship because Jerry preets during this
first that first three PET about I don't care what
you say about me, Write whatever you want, as long
as we win championships. I know I've done my job.
But something changed during that second three PET. I think
part of it was maybe he felt Phil was getting
too much credit, maybe he wasn't getting enough credit. But
(01:48:05):
I think he also, as you talk about general managers
want to control the situation, Phil was the guy that
was kind of controlling everything because he was, you know,
loved by the media, loved by the fans, and Jerry
was the guy that everybody ticked on. And you saw
that in one and two. I'm curious to see if
(01:48:25):
over the next next eight episodes if they kind of
correct that a little bit. I thought they focused too
much on making him the villain. And let me tell
you something. One thing. You know, my wife's in the
hospitality business and we all know how they've been hit.
But she's vice president. She's a partner. Well, her boss
came into work today and talked to her because they're
(01:48:47):
doing meals for all the employs, and talked to her
about you know how she said, you know, she kind
of was told her was I resented? He goes, Hey,
there's there's nothing different between what Reinsdorf did what I'm doing.
I have you to technique, I have you to hire
people and fire people. Ryan'sdorf had Jerry to hire people
and fire people, trade people to kind of protect him.
(01:49:10):
And we all know that Ryan'sdorf doesn't settle arguments through
the media. He's very rarely grant interviews, and what he does,
he's very succinct. He's very to the point. And I
don't think you're ever going to see a statement made
by him during this thing regarding anything, because to him,
this is old news. Do you guys enjoy it? I'm past,
I'm done. Hey will tell us about did you have
(01:49:33):
a relationship with Michael Jordan? What was it like and
did you guys get along or really didn't have a relationship.
You know, I didn't necessarily have a personal relationship until
later in my career, you know, quite honestly, and that
was probably after I left the Bulls. You know he
was and everybody will tell you he wasn't easy to
(01:49:54):
play with. He had high expectations, and I just wish
when I first came in, I would have a little
more mature, a little more understanding of what he was
trying to do for me and any other player. You know,
we butted heads a little bit, but later in my career,
I think I garnered that respect from him, and one
of the things I always say that probably meant the
(01:50:15):
most to him, and this was after our careers were over.
We ran into each other on the golf course. Never
played with him cross paths a lot on the golf
course because I didn't have that coin that he had,
that big You're like, just in case I don't win,
could you know if you're playing Mike, money's on the
table and you better have to lose. Hey, that fix
(01:50:37):
inch put all of a sudden looks like about a
six foot put money he's playing with. But he kind
of pulled me aside and just said, hey, man, you
know how you doing? He goes. You know, the one
thing I learned is we traded the wrong guy. He
didn't elaborate but I knew exactly what he meant, and
you know that meant a lot to me. So you know,
I never questioned whether I could play in the league.
When I got there. There were a lot of moments
(01:50:57):
where I questioned whether I could never live up to
his expectation. Well, we we gotta go. Last question. But
I hope to get you on again during this five
or four week run because you obviously have some great insight.
But you mentioned the trade, so you ended up. You
were with San Antonio. You won your fourth championship with
them the year after, you know, the last dance, And
(01:51:20):
I want to ask you the Jordan Bulls against the
team you won your championship with in San Antonio, Duncan
and Robinson, how do you think that matchup would have
worked out? You know, if if Jordan, you know, if
Jordan had kept playing field, it stayed in Chicago and
they had gotten to the finals and met Duncan and Robinson.
(01:51:43):
You know, I've been asking that a lot over the
last two days, and you know the funny thing was,
I never really thought about it back then. When we
were playing. We were just like, Hey, we're playing the Knicks.
That's all we care about. I don't know, because hey,
we all knew that that Bulls team was running on fumes.
But I think that lockout would have helped them significantly
(01:52:05):
because of the U fifty five game season. But the
one thing I can tell you is Tim Duncan. He's
a different cat now. He doesn't necessarily have that win
at all costs mentality that Michael does. You know, because
everybody knows about the comment. If I gave you a
(01:52:26):
bottle with ten pills in it and nine of them
were at villain, one was a one was poison, you
know how bad. But I tell you what, that would
have been interesting to see how that all played out.
I may have given the advantage to them because if
Steve Kerr said, we have that guy Michael Jordan's, but
we had Tim Duncan. Yeah, that's it would have been
(01:52:47):
great to see. Well, appreciate you. Yeah, we'll be safe, man,
And like I said, we'll try to get you back
on over the next few weeks. All right, you got it.
Appreciate the time guy. It's the eye couple of Chris
Rob and this is what Rob Trash talking to twos

elephant in the room and kissing steps. You know what

and they're whining. I'm trash talking the Warriors, all of them.
All right, there it is time here and all the
drama zone. Yeah, always drama. Felicia in Michigan, you're on
the eye couple of Fox Sports Radio. Felicia, who you're trashing.
I'm trashing the whole MLB Hall of Name. We need
(01:55:06):
to start a petition and let Pete rose in. I'm
also transhi to Quille O'Neill again, because how you want
to say the two thousand one better than nineteen ninety six?
You got Horace Grant who came up under Michael Michael Jordan,
and then have the same time you had covies who
wanted to be Michael Jordan sold that'd be Jordan's playing himself. Okay,
Number three, why all the ghats called Michael Jackson called
(01:55:29):
Michael Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan, Michael Felton, it could have
been Mike Tyson, and I am the last thing. The
goat in the NFL is LT. Dan Marino is LT
because he and thened he has plays that still stands
today and don't again. You gotta put some respect on
Bill belichick name because he also wants to defensive coordinator
(01:55:49):
for LT at that time. Okay, so that's it, right,
A Mire in Philadelphia, you're on the couple Fox Sports Radio.
A Mire, who you trash? I gotta turns to media
this week, you guys. I'm old enough, just like you guys.
I grew up watching Michael Jordan. Just like you guys.
I just know that I'm forty two twenty two right right?
(01:56:15):
Oh wow, But I remember watching I remember watching Undisputed
and here skipped go off from the Tangents talking about
how when Lebron lost to the Celtics and before he
went to the heat, Michael Jordan would have never blew
a two one lead, and I remembering I was a kid.
I just thought about it, like I remember blowing the
(01:56:36):
two one lead, and he had a home game against
the Twitter pistols, and I remember I'm missing clutch free
throws in Game six to lose that series. And I also,
like you guys say, how the East is week when
Lebron ran through it. Lebron every time he made the playoffs,
he never had to lose on record, I remember Jordan winning,
going to the plays with thirty one teams, a thirty
eight win team. And I also remember, like this is
(01:56:57):
another hypocrisy thing, you guys say that Lebron that he
when here, if you take him off that Heat team
in that can'stone, they're better than if you take Jordan off.
That move. But that team when Jordan left, I remember
them being a bad call away from uh the Eastern
Copper finals or the finals. And I remember the Miami
Heat listened to the playoffs after Lebron left. And I
(01:57:20):
remember when Kyle all right, your memories too long, man,
thank you? Why great, good car? We got you, Robina,
the couple of Fox Sports radier, who you trashing? Okay?
Go ahead, who are you trashing? Okay? Who? Who? Let's go.
(01:57:42):

you're in the eye. Couple of Fox Sports radio It's
always a pleasure to call you a mere. Christ and
Robin show, what's up baby? Christ and Rob show open exactly.
I want to trash any buddy that watched on Sunday
the last day and has the nerve, the gall the
(01:58:04):
audacity to say the Lebron is better. I mean, you're
gonna see this weekend obviously, you guys know well the
Pistons highlights. Yes, this guy was getting body slampile drive
suplex and mister and I'm a Laker, Frian telling you

for your good trash talk, good stuff though. I'll tell
you Felicia, she's she on top of her game man.
Yeah no, no, she had a couple of things a
little long winter than me. But we love it anyway. Yeah,
