(01:03):
At the bottom of the hour, we have got a
celebrity corner to die for. Wow, gonna be a lot
of fun. Indeed, of course, so much is happening around
the world. Uh, and we're gonna continue to get into
all of that. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell just released a
(01:24):
statement hours after his players called on the NFL to
do just that. So we will get into all of
that and much much more. And of course in the
second hour. We got six minutes, six minutes coming your way,
so let me welcome in my partner. What's up man,
you you're itching to get in here? Go ahead. I
just wanted to say I fainted. Roger Goodell said black
(01:48):
lives matter, So that's I just wanted to say that.
Chris like he actually mentioned it, like he said, well,
we were gonna get into that. That's not where we are.
I'm just saying, I'm sorry, yeah, let's not Let's not
waste anymore time. Let's introduce the Odd Couple crew and
didn't get to it. We got, of course, DJ Alex
(02:08):
Tysher on The Ones and the twos. He never takes
off a funky flashback Friday one day because you know
that's when he gets to you know, the people on
social media, they're amping, right, me and you both, that's right.
We don't take days off like Chris brus what and
(02:29):
Chris you know what. I'm gonna tell you this. When
you're off, they go after you. They're like, all he's
off again, Alex and Rob g No, let's lose Oh really, yes?
They got think like you do get vacations. No, I said, vacations.
I said stacations. You know, all right, we got super
(02:53):
producer Rob g in the house as always and all
the updates Steve this Seger go ahead and clap rop.
That's right. I'm excited. The best sports anchor on Fox
Sports Radio, barn He's solo got the Big Three? You
got this? No, that's not no. I have David Gaston
(03:13):
and I ain't paying for that. All right, Well, let's
get into a robb and we obviously alluded to it
just a few moments ago. I want to play first
the players, because I don't know, I assume you saw
it robbed earlier today. The players last night, I'm sorry,
and many superstars Patrick Mahomes, Odell Beckham, Junior, say Kwon Barkley,
(03:37):
Deshaun Watson, and many other great stars in the league,
not just regular players, if you will. They came out
with a video essentially the reason. Here's why I want
to play it, even though it came out last night,
because we're gonna play that and that what they call
on is for the NFL, I e the commission Roger
(04:00):
Goodell to make a statement on certain things, and his
statement today that came out just what Rob G may
be less than an hour ago, roughly some within the
last hour, almost to a word at some points, is
what the players called on him to say. So here
(04:21):
it goes the player's statement last night from the NFL Stars.
It's been ten days since George Floyd was beautifully murdered
a man it hubs. Then we need to ask you
to listen to your players. What would it take for
one of us to be murdered by police brutality? What
if I was George Floyd, if I was George Floyd,
If I if I was George Floyd, if I was
(04:43):
George Floyd, if I was George Floyd, I am George Floyd.
I am Brionna, I am a Mad I am Eric,
I am Tamir Right, I am Trey Bonn Martin. I
am Walking Sky, I am Michael Brown, I am Samuel
the Boys. I am Frank sm Feeling wife Jordan Baker.
We will not be silence protests. It shouldn't take this long,
(05:06):
Love Metal, so on behalf of the National Football League.
This is what we the players would like to hear
you stay. We National condemn racism and the systematic oppression
of black people. We the National Football He'd been wrong
and silence in our players from peacefully protesting National believe
(05:27):
black lives matter, Black lives matter, Black black lives All right, there,
it is rob And let's hear from the commissioner, Roger Goodell,
because you'll be stunned at how closely it is what
he says to exactly what the players wanted the league
to do. It has been a difficult time for our country,
(05:50):
in particular black people in our country, first Mike and Domess,
families of George Floyd, Brihanna Taylor, Amada Harby, in all
the families moving dirt, police brutality. We the National Football League,
condemn racism and the systematic oppression of black people. We
the National Football League, admit we were wrong for not
(06:12):
listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak
out and peacefully protests. We the National Football League, believe
black lives matter. I personally protest with you and want
to be part of the much needed change in this country.
Without black players, there would be no National Football League
(06:33):
and the protests around the country are emblematic of the
centuries of silence, inequality, and oppression of black players, coaches, fans,
and staff. We are listening I am listening and I
will be reaching out to players who have raised their
voices and others on how we can improve and go
(06:55):
forward for a better and more united NFL family. All right,
rob what do you think I'm not buying it? It
wasn't enough corporate pr bs Chris Broussard the NFL once again,
(07:19):
if they were to listen to their players. You mean
the player Colin Kaepernick who you shunned, ostracized, castrated, took
away his livelihood and his job. Is that the guy
you're talking about when you said you didn't listen to
(07:40):
your players. This coming from a league that should have
shame all over its face that it even has to
have a rudey rule to force owners to hire black
people who played football, disgraceful. And now because this country's burning,
(08:03):
and black players have been push push to the wall
and have no other choice than to stand up because
we all witnessed a murder that we've been talking about
forever about what happens to black people on the hands
of white police, police brutality, social injustice. I don't want
(08:27):
to hear about. We stand with you. Tell me what
you're going to do. Roger Goodell and the NFL. Don't
tell me you can't do anything. I saw this league
word Chris in a good way in nineteen ninety three
when they forced the state of Arizona to acknowledge Martin
Luther King Junior and his holiday. They took away for
(08:52):
you know how you want to get people a change financially,
they took away the Super Bowl and any chance that
state had to make money. And guess what, those same
people went to the pole, went to the polling places
and voted for that holiday. I'm tired of hearing about
talking and and oh yeah, we're in your corner and
(09:15):
we stand with you and all that. None of that
means anything today to me. What will you do? That's
what I want to hear. And the NFL has come
around like so many others, Chris, because they have no choice.
I wish you would say anything else or ignore what
(09:36):
was what's going on in this country. You can't do it,
you guys, go ahead. You want to buy into Roger
Goodell and this PR statement and telling you what you
want to hear. I don't want to hear it today.
I want you to do something to stop it. You
are powerful, you know you are, and start treating black
(09:59):
people right. The social injustice you talk about, you stand
with us. You guys do it every day, and the
front offices and the nepotism and the coaching ranks and
not giving black assistance opportunities and head coaches. So I
want you to do it first and talk about the
(10:19):
changes that are coming about in the league and what
you're going to do in this world, in this country
to do right by black people. And you're right. I'm
glad you mentioned without black players that wouldn't be an NFL.
Your league is seventy percent black. Start acting like it
by doing the right thing. I salute some of what
(10:44):
you said. Obviously it's going to take action, but I'm
not going to call this BS. I know that Roger
Goodell does listen to Troy Vincent, who we've had on
the show, who's an African American former player now the executive,
and believe me, a lot of what is happening with
(11:05):
Goodell making this statement, even with what you called the
Looney rule, and you're wrong in ripping just the NFL,
all of America has had to have a quote unquote
Rooney rule to hire black people. America didn't just decide
one day, Hey, let's start hiring black people. They had
(11:26):
to have laws changed, they had to have something called
affirmative action. That's American life, rob and so the NFL
is not unique in having to do something like that
to get people to hire blacks. And as flawed as
it was a couple of weeks ago with what they proposed,
(11:47):
as far as giving teams draft incentives to hire a
black coach or a blackfront office person, it was an
attempt to write what has been the wrongs in hiring
the blacks. Now we can sit here and act like
everything is peg keane and people are just gonna do
the right thing. They're not. So if they're not gonna
(12:08):
do the right thing, then you've got to incentivize and
then create laws. Do you hold them accountable? Stop with that.
I'm listening to you for five minutes. You stop it.
I'm not saying your centiment is wrong. I'm just saying
understanding the country we live in to say the NFL
(12:30):
is the only place. Now, everybody said that. I never said,
only you stop. We're talking about the NFL. But then
tell statement that's who we're talking about. You say only stop?
You said the league that had to have a runey rule,
as if the NBA is all great. How many NBA
(12:53):
never had to hire? Make people hire? How people? How
many black presidents there in the NBA? Tell me if
there were guys they have been in the past, Chris don't,
how many? How many play? Ricky? There was no room
league Robinson? What league? Did weight ball make him? Baseball
made branch Ricky hired Jackie Robinson. No, they didn't. He
(13:16):
did it on his own. What I'm saying is that
you're jumping on the nfls if they're the only ones.
And that's all I'm saying. I want to see action
from Roger Goodell. I'm with you on that, but I'm
not gonna see here and just condemn a statement he
made just to condemn it. I agree with you. It's
(13:38):
gotta go beyond this, and the players should ask when
I said two days ago, if not, I don't know.
If it was was Friday, it was yesterday. I guess
when I said, they need to make demands on Goodell,
the league and the owners demand that they go ahead
and push for criminal or criminal US just reform, demand
(14:02):
that they pushed for federal prosecutors to prosecute these cases
rather than local ones and much more so. I'm I'm
with you on making demands, but I'm just saying that
if somebody's saying he said exactly what the players will
even say the next thing, and I said this yesterday,
(14:22):
he's got They gotta get Colin Kaepernick in the league.
If you admit that you're wrong, and if you you
know you shouldn't have been against the peaceful protests, then
get Kaepernick in the league period. He's good enough. When
Michael Saying was about to be ready to be drafted,
you you hooked it up, so a team drafted him.
(14:45):
Hook it up. Make a call, so they take Colin Kaepernick.
That's what needs to be done, and that will put
action behind the words. They've made mistake in the past,
but now it's time to correct it, and if people
are willing to start correcting them, I'm not gonna hold
(15:07):
the past mistakes against them if they're ready to correct them,
So let's correct them. That's what I say. And this
is significant too. We know rob that they made last
within the last few years, and it came out in
the depositions that the players the owners were very much
(15:31):
influenced by Donald Trump when they went against the players before.
And that's what Goodell apologized for. And we're gonna see
if he really meant it, because Trump came out today,
Well let me show where the owners say they were
influenced in the deposition. This came out. Stephen Ross said
(15:51):
this about Trump's statement. When Trump made it all about
the flag, he said that changed the dialogue. I Stephen Ross,
the owner of the Dolphins, was totally supportive of the
players until Trump made his statement. Ross also said Patriots
owner Robert Kraft had spoken about the issue with Trump
(16:13):
and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was influenced by the president's sentiment.
Now here's what Trump, as you probably know, Rob said today.
He tweeted this about Drew Brees. He said, I am
a big fan of Drew Brees. I think he's truly
one of the greatest quarterbacks. But he should not have
(16:35):
taken back his original stance on honoring our magnificent American flag.
Old glory is to be revered, cherished, and flown high.
We should not be standing up straight and tall, I'm sorry,
we should be standing up straight and tall, ideally with
a salute or a hand on heart. There are other
(16:57):
things you can protest, but not our greater American flag.
No kneeling. All right, So you've condemned Goodell's statement, I've said,
I'm fine with it as long as action follows. Now
they the NFL buckle to Trump before. Are they gonna
buckle to him again? Or are they gonna stand with
(17:20):
the players If they don't stand with the players, Rob,
You're absolutely right. If they do stand with them, then
maybe change is coming. Let's open it up for the cause.
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Do you believe
(17:40):
Roger Goodell when he says the NFL is encouraging its
players to speak out and peacefully protests or is this
just NFL lip service? Will continue the conversation with you.

The only hard part is figuring out which way is easy?
All right, Roger Goodell is spoken? Is it a bunch
of bs? Or does he? Is he really committing to
do something? What do you think? Eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox, Let's get to a rib. Let's hear
(18:42):
what they say. All right, Marcel and Mississippi, you're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What you got? Hey?
What's up? Rob? And Kawhi? Bruce? Sorry, welcome back from
long management many I told you where was all this
when Rob was on this Golden Girls cruise? How I
war called the article about all that very well? Hey, hey, Chris,
(19:09):
I respect what you said, and I agree with you
for the most part. But I actually got to take
Rob side a little more. I feel like the NFL
is putting a band aid on what they did to
college back in the day, And to be honest, I
feel like they also think that, oh, maybe you know,
our black players are serious this time. Maybe they will
walk on out on the let us say something. But
(19:30):
we if if we as black people take take that
for a for a statement, shame on us. Man. We
need to do way more. One needs to be action
behind it. And I agree with Rob and you on
that that's the thing. And Rob to me that one
of the action things is clear. Kaepernick needs to be
in the league. No, how many times do we have
(19:51):
to see? You know they have right, they haven't even
mentioned him. Stephen and West Virginia. You're in the odd
couple sports radio? What's up Stephen? All right? What's coming on? Gays?
What's up? Man? A big fan, big fan? Hey, listen,
I just thought man as a white man. I'm thirty
(20:11):
eight year old man um Man. I am ashamed of
where we are right now. But but Roger, I feel
like Roger Goodell's hands are being forced in this. I
do not feel like this is his true feelings. I
think that for too long he's had he's had plenty
(20:33):
of opportunities to where he could have could have fixed
the situations that he's he dug himself into a hole
with this. He has chosen. He has chosen. It has
been his choice to take the stance that he has
for so long and now he is wanting to jumpsides,
and I feel like that's just Choy Vincent and everyone
(20:54):
else in his ear pushing an issue and making him
open his eyes to a situation. I agree with that, Stephen,
thank you for that call. I agree with that. I
think Troy Vincent is forcing them to and that's why
you need diversity in your leadership. Don't be no doubt,
Don and Tucson and you're on the odd couple. Fox
(21:16):
Sports Radio, what's up? I love the show I got.
I got a microf from this one. He got forced
to do this because let me tell you hard no,
what happened in Arizona? What's the NFL when they wanted
to force that MLK day? What do you mean what happened?
They got? Yes, right, they do their strong armed. Now
(21:41):
they're like they're back. They don't want to do it. Okay,
So he doesn't buy it. He's saying that they really
don't want to do it. Well, I agree. I don't
think they want to. I think they have to because
of what the players have demanded. And that's why I say, like,
this is exactly what he said, right, It's exactly what
(22:01):
the players were saying. But whether you're strong armed into
it or not, I just wanted to get done. I
don't care. I mean, everybody's like the hearts gotta change,
and yeah, ideally the hearts would change, but all hearts
aren't gonna change. So just do the right thing. If
it's out of fear, if it's out of pressure, whatever,
do the right thing. Deuce and DC, you're on the
(22:24):
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Duce? Hey,
thanks for having me. Man, I appreciate what y'all do. Yep,
I definitely want to make it really shut. You know,
Roger Goodell was nice, but you know who we need next, man,
We need Jerry Jones. We need Jerry goddamn Jones to
get up on that stage and say I would sort
And you know what another thing is he made He
(22:47):
went off and told every Dallas player that they had
to stand for that flag. Right, he had to stand
for that flag. Dad did it, and they still won't
pay the man and they still won't pay them. You
see what I'm saying. This is what we gotta do with.
You know, we gotta still go with that home and
Patty like, boy, you're gonna do what I say because
I pay you, you know, And that's that's petty man.
(23:08):
I want to see j Jay Jones's next. We canna
get to see him next. Well, that's why I ride.
We talked about it yesterday. There needs to be a
collective statement from the owners and uh so we'll see,
we'll see if there's action behind this. All right. We
got three times three time Emmy awar winner coming up.

A couple, brother, what's happening? Thank you man, It's an
honor to be a part of it. It's great to
(24:13):
have you on. Man, we are both big fans and
we're honored to have you here. So let's look, let's
get into it. It's a lot going on in our nation.
And I know you've been tweeting a lot about, you know,
the protests and stuff in Los Angeles where you're at,
are you We're obviously seeing people of you know, all
races involved in these protests. Obviously much of America isn't
(24:34):
an uproar over George Floyd. Yeah, and even going back
further than that, what are you encouraged by? As negative
as this whole situation is, is do you think are
you encouraged by what you see or what are your feelings? Well,
first of all, I'm horrified by what we saw and
(24:57):
what we have been seeing. And just to give you
a little context, I grew up as a viciously mediocre
athlete who was incredibly delusional into thinking that I could
be the first five foot nine Jewish linebacker in the
NFL that did not pan out? Was this nineteen forty
I mean maybe you would chance that might have been. Yeah,
(25:25):
believe me, I didn't know what decade it was I was.
I was very lucky in the way that I grew
up in a very integrated community in which I was
the minority on my football team, and you know, didn't
didn't know anything about racism until uh, you know, we
(25:46):
were taught what it is. Basically, we lived in this
microcosm and it was beautiful and you know, it's so
once once I left that, UM, it was shocking to
me because you have to understand, you know, white supremacists,
they they they're hunting me as as much as people
(26:08):
of color, you know, and it's a very it's it's
a it's shocking to me. The whole thing is shocking.
I you know, the idea of that any human being
could be that stupid to uh to to to have
hate for another person based on their color. It's it's
(26:30):
hard for me. There's listen, we know there's something natural
about that hate. There's nothing organic about it. It has
to be taught, UM. And so you know, it's all
it's all shocking to me. And yet to to to
get to your point, I do think this is one
of those turning point moments where you see people taking
(26:51):
action of every different background. UM, and this is this
could be a very seminal moment for us where we
do we transitioned into some change, and you've already seen
it that people are taking action in the voting booths.
And I think this will lead, you know, this tragedy
(27:13):
and the tragedies before it will lead to some good.
We can only welcome it with open arms. And you know,
I'm just starting a podcast myself and haven't even put
it out yet, but I was chopping it up with
my buddy Common, and you know, I feel silly, but
I have to ask questions like what can I do right?
(27:37):
You know, I get that. Let me Jeremy, let me
ask you this. Obviously, Colin Kaepernick tried to warn us
four years ago about what was going on, tried to
bring attention to a peacefully, quietly his own silent protest.
What were your thoughts during that time in twenty sixteen,
what he was doing, what you think of him and
(27:57):
how he was sean and ostracized by the NFL and
a lot of fans. Well, you know, as a lifelong
Chicago Bears fan, I'll never forget I was lucky enough
to be on the field for his coming out party
against the Bears. I don't know if you guys remember this,
but he is, you know, such an elite, incredible athlete
(28:21):
who was utilizing his freedom of speech and was punished
for it. So it's that again is insanely confusing, but
you know, we're the fact that we're having discussions about
it is really important and we need to right the
(28:42):
wrongs and his actions were put had been put in perspective.
Now what he was speaking on had nothing to do
with the flag, as we know, it had to do
with what we're seeing. And listen, if we hadn't recorded
that police brutality, it would go into the radar. So
(29:03):
thank god for that. Yep. And I don't I don't
know where he is right now, but man does he
if he so chooses to continue to play football, why
wouldn't there be a home for him? See that's what
we're saying. Like Roger Goodell released this statement today basically
apologizing for you know, silencing the players and their peaceful protests.
(29:29):
My thing is the next action, one of the many
actions that has to come next, is offering a job
for Kaepernick on the team in the NFL. If you're
really sorry for it, he's clearly good enough. He should
be playing in the NFL, and so we'll see if
their apology was just lip service or was there real
(29:51):
truth to it. Jeremy, I know looks it's kind of
hard to make the transition now in these times, but
we do want to have a little bit of fun
with you and talk some sports. And I know you're
from Chicago and the Last Dance just took the nation
by storm a few weeks ago. What were your thoughts
(30:11):
on it? I assume you grew up as a Michael
Jordan fan, what were your thoughts? Well, listen, MJ's one
of these rare people that is so incredibly Everything with
MJ speaks for itself. All you have to do is
as is, look at the record and look look at
(30:33):
his play, and he you know, he's living his dream.
He loves to play golf, and he's got a beautiful family,
and he lays low under the radar. He doesn't need
the adulation, you know, and the attention, and the fact
that he even struck up a deal in ninety eight
saying yeah, you can film this, but it has to
(30:54):
be under my terms. And his terms were that if
he didn't want to release a foot, she didn't have
to so the fact that he did is just such
a gift for us. And listen, yeah, I take everything
I say with a grain of salt because I'm insane
Chicago Bulls fan, you know. So I just loved it,
every even of it. Don't want it to end um,
(31:15):
but just you know, also, it was just kind of
cool to see, as you guys know more than anyone,
all athletes seem to be and I'd love to get
your take on it. Seemed to be, you know, on
their best behavior and media trained whenever they're doing an interview, right,
and so, you know, because the Bill Belichicks of the
(31:35):
world have given them their marching orders and they have
to stay in their lane. And then so to have
a guy like Michael just kind of just be so
his authentic self. You never have players say things like
that they wanted to be voted the MVP, you know
(31:55):
when when he and listens as real as Michael Jordan
was in a lot of those circumstances. The only thing
that brought me the wrong way, and I'd love to
hear your take is he couldn't come clean on a
few things he couldn't come clean on. Uh. The Isaiah
Thomas thing. He calls him an a hole. Uh, you
(32:18):
know on television he kind of says everybody else did
it until the tape came out and it was clear
that it was like the Watergate tapes. You know, we
finally heard Michael Jordan say it. What what? What do
you make of that? For it? Because because he was real,
he was roy. He called Scottie Pippen out, He called
(32:39):
Horace Grant a rat. He you know, Jerry Krause, he
was on his head. How come if he was really
against Isaiah Thomas and didn't want him on a team,
how come he couldn't man up to that? Did that
bother you at all? Well, listen, I love you know,
I love Scottie Pippen and and obviously Detroit or our rivals,
(33:01):
and i'd speak of I'd say were as if I
was on the team. So I'm again proving how delusional
I am. Um, listen, man. Mj even admitted that, you know,
I don't know, I don't I don't want to miss
quote him, but something that he doesn't have a gambling
problem with, he is a competition disorder something like that, right,
(33:22):
and he is the goat and but he's human and
he's you know, he has his flaws and and um,
he was in a way at times it was going
so well for him, he had to invent things to
fire him up, rivalries that didn't maybe really even exist,
(33:46):
to get you know, to fire him up, to get
that extra edge. And you know what, man, I just
feel like, you know, you know, he I don't know
enough about the Isaiah thing. Obviously, Listen, we all evolve
(34:08):
at different at our own pace, right, And there are
things that have stayed with him, and grudges that have
stayed with him, and so you know, they're they're always
two sides to every story. And I think it was recently,
and I don't know if he was quoted correctly, he said,
if you have a problem with this, make your own doc.
(34:29):
Yes he did. That was after a lot of player
we've said that, right, Yeah, they're need They're probably to
get the unvarnished truth. There's gonna have to be an
unauthorized night, a dynastic one. Jeremy great stuff. Look, man,
we gotta have you in this. Once we ever get
back in hopefully positive change comes out of this. We
(34:53):
want to get you on, whether it's in the studio
or back on the phones because I know there's a
lot of sports stuff you want to talk about. Two absolutely,
and I know that you guys are jones in for content.
My god, I mean you probably have never had to
work so hard. How many top ten greatest of all
blah blah blah do you guys have to come up
with every day? Well, then one's playing sports. Yeah, we
(35:15):
stay away from that. That's from the four letter radio network,
So we don't do that. We've been able to make
the most out of it. But all right, Jeremy, appreciate
your time. Man, take care of you guys. All right later,
all right, Bruce Arts five five is coming up. Keep
it locked. Fox Sports Radio The Odd Couple. Fox Sports

(36:00):
Are you ready? Like lepron, We're going big. It's go town.
It's Bruce Sard's Fab five. All right, I'm gonna have
to rush through these. These are the five storylines I'm
most looking forward to in the NBA reboot Here we go.
Number five, Will the Houston Rockets save the jobs of
(36:21):
Mike D'Antoni and maybe Darryl Morey? Remember Dan Tony's in
the last year of his deal, the Rockets went all
in on the small ball. They lost four their last
five games before the break. If they go out early,
i e. First Round, Dan Tony could be gone, and
maybe even Daryl Morey, who remember costs the league about
four hundred millie with his controversial comments on China All right?
(36:45):
Number four? Will Zion and the Pelicans rally to reach
the playoffs? New Orleans three and a half games back
and from the ACA, which is Memphis. But they've been hot.
They won eleven of their last eighteen before the break.
Those victories included wins over Boston, Miami, Memphis, Indiana, and
Portland twice. Lonzo Ball found himself twenty points, eight boards,
(37:09):
eight dimes over the last five games. Drew Hollidays there
for leadership from a veteran ken New Orleans mature fast
and make a bit of noise. Number three. How good
will a healthy Clippers team be? The Clippers were arguably
the league's best team already, despite having their best players
drop in and out of the lineup. How good will
(37:30):
they be with Kawhi there regularly George Paul, George, Pat
Bev Landry Shammont, Will they indeed be the best team
in the league? Number two? Do we get playoff Lebron
or layoff Lebron? One is a beast, He's been that way,
went to eight straight finals, average a triple double in
(37:50):
the finals. But last year when he got hurt the
layoff damage team. Will he come back great? Or will
he come back rusty? Number one? Well, Kevin Duran and
Kyrie Irving returned to boost the next I know reports
came out today that they weren't coming back, but we'll
see or at least kd wasn't coming back. No pressure
(38:11):
on them, gotta be one hundred percent. But if they
come back, what an opportunity. Nothing's expected. You go out early,
We'll blame it on Russ, but maybe you could rally
to do something special. I can't wait, and I'm sure
you can't either. Keep it locked. Be sure to catch
live editions of the Odd Couple with Chris Brussar. Then

we are joined now by one of our favorite guests.
He always brings the noise, he's us and he brings
the chicken wings with them too. Yes, he's lost some bets. Uh.
He's a former NBA champion uh and a Pelicans New
Orleans Pelicans color analysts also serious XM NBA radio host
(39:20):
none other than our man, Antonio Daniel's brother. Happening. What's happening?
So that way ain't talking. I don't know how long, Rod.
That's how you gonna do me. No, no, no, because
you know what I first bet you paid off big
time more. You paid off with a bigger amount of
(39:41):
wings than we originally bet. I always you cool with me,
so we're good. Yeah, that's right, that's right. Well, Well
let's start in the league and then we'll get to
the Pelicans. What do you think about the format for
coming back, you know, the eight regular season games games
to play in. Do you like this? Do you think
(40:02):
they should have died in another way? I'm gonna be
completely honest with you, guys. I think that the NBA
got it right, and that's really difficult to do. And
when I say they got it right, what I mean
by that is there are a couple of things that
you want to see them do. One, if there was
a team that was still in contention, you want to
see them continuing to play, because remember this league got
(40:23):
cut short, almost twenty percent short. So but you also
give them incentive. The teams that are mathematically eliminated, they
have no reason to come back and play. I get that.
I grasp the concept. You also want to come to
a place where you're comfortable, as far as a quarantine
bubble where you can put family, friends and players, coaches
(40:48):
and be assured that they're healthy. You know. So in
this instance, I think this was a very very hard
thing to do. And if you go back two or
three months, I didn't think that could happen. I thought
it was very very difficult to do. It's a lot
of who's to jump through but now they have the
testing available, uh to test guys and then when the
(41:08):
season starts, to test guys almost daily. I think Adam Silver,
the brain trust of the NBA, got this spot on.
Is this You know some people have pushed back and said,
this is just the NBA trying to get Zion and
the Pelicans in the playoffs because they want the Pelicans.
This was done for the Pelicans. Where are you on that? So?
(41:30):
I mean that what is like, like, listen out of
bomb professional sports. Listen professional sports baseball, basketball, football, and hockey.
There is no more professional league that is as stars
driven at the NBA is the NBA is all about stars.
(41:51):
It's all about I and and who you want to
see on that floor. Man. You know what if you
look at the look of the Pelicans. So all last year,
everybody was talking about Anthony Davis leaving. Oh you know,
he's gonna go to LA because of this and because
of that. So now the one time that the light
shines on the Pelicans and they get an opportunity to
play for a playoff bird, they get an opportunity to
(42:12):
play for incentive. Now it's not fair. No, come on, man,
I'm not rocking with that, it's three and a half
games with aide to play? Is that what it is?
I mean, I mean, it's gonna just be honest, I
mean antony. I'm not trying to say if you told
me they were a game I would aide to play
or something made three and a half games would aid
to play. But all of the stuff. What's important. What's
(42:34):
important is the way the schedule falls. So if you're
three and a half games out, you still have to
play Memphis twice. That's an opportunity for a game advantage.
So if you beat Memphis twice, now you need a
game and a half out, you know what I mean.
So it's not just it's not like you're playing eight games,
eight insignificant games. You're playing eight games that get an
(42:57):
opportunity to get to the ninth questions, make the playoffs.
I do think they will. Really, I'm gonna be completely honest. Iadbviously,
m okay, go ahead, because they were playing I said, yeah,
(43:18):
I said this in March, back when the Pelicans were
playing really really good basketball. I thought that they were
going to make the playoffs in you know, and things
we have to understand is how this whole thing has
played itself out. You know, there are certain teams that
have benefited from this. Honestly, you know, you look one
(43:40):
could that be a negatives because what I'm saying is
if you look at if you played sixty four games
or sixty six games, you have sixteen remaining games, and
in those sixteen remaining games, you have the easiest remaining
schedule in the league. So a lot of the teams
that the Pelicans still has yet to play aren't even
invited Portlando, you know what I mean. I'm talking about
(44:02):
New York. I'm talking about that you had to play
Atlanta twice, they had to play the Nicks at home,
if you had to play Charlotte at home. So some
of these games, and on the flip side, Memphis, who
has played very well and deserved to be right where
they are, they had the toughest remaining schedule, right right, Okay,
so you have to take that. Let me ask you this, Lonzo.
(44:25):
Over the last five games, it was great, twenty one,
eight and eight. Did something click? Is that real? Not
that the he's gonna Averageo's numbers, but is that real?
Or was that just kind of a nice little run
and you expect them to kind of go back to
that eleven point six six assists the night guy. No,
(44:46):
for me, it was about his comfort level. It was
about him getting his legs under him, finally feeling good
playing his best basketball as a pro. Because this is
the most confident that he had had as a like
this is a perfect Cathon scenario for Londo. Let's put
you on a team where you're surrounded by guys whose
(45:08):
skill set compliment yours. This is a perfect storm for
a Lonzo Ball. Alvin Gentry wants to play fast. He
wants to play fast. Lonzo Ball wants to play fast.
Diane Williamson wants to play fast. Brandon England wants to
play fast. The New Orleans Pelicans are all about pace,
getting up and down the floor. But the ball is
(45:29):
in Lonzo's hands to make those decisions. He hasn't all
He can't always say that where he's been prior to
yere fame with Brandon England. When you when you look
at the NBA and especially the two teams big teams
in the West, the Lakers and the Clippers, who do
you think will get the bigger advantage. The Clippers who
(45:52):
have their two big stars who are banged up, yet
they've played well all year and they've got a deep bench.
Those two guys are back in Helm and Lebron was
playing well and the Lakers, but you know, he has
to restart year seventeen after playing, you know, pretty well.
Does the rest help Lebron hurt them? Or the or
(46:13):
the Clippers in better shape because they have younger guys
who are now healthy. Here's the thing you just said
that real keyword, Rob, You said restart, and why that's
important is because how you are playing prior to the
COVID nineteen. Honestly, to a certain degree, it's relevant. This
wasn't a week layoff, This wasn't a two week layoff,
(46:35):
so everybody has to restart. We have no idea the chemistry,
camaraderie or rhythm that teams are going to come back with.
You know, we can't assume that when the Lakers left
playing well, or the Pelicans left playing well, or Milwaukee
left playing well, if they're going to pick up right
where they left off. Because these are unforeseen circumstances that
(46:55):
no one has ever had to deal with. So it's
going to take a minute for team individually and also
collectively for them to find that chemistry again, to find
that rhythm again, because this is not a one or
two week layoff to think we are in June and
we have not played since March tenth March eleventh, So
that's all the March, all of April, all of May,
(47:17):
and now we're in June. So that's a long layoff,
and that's a layoff that guy and teams individually and
collectively are not accustomed to. New Orleans Pelicans color analyst
Antonio Daniels, the NBA champion joining the Eye couple. I
want to go back to the Pelicans about something because
Adam Silver, the commissioner, came out last night and says
(47:37):
some of the older coaches, he said, they're still looking
at this May they may not want them on the
bench to coach the games. Now. Alvin Genti, who is
he sixty five? I believe he pushed he pushed back
on it. Do you how do you feel, because it
seems there is evidence that it can affect older people,
(47:58):
they're more vulnerable. How do you feel about this whole
situation with the coaches, the older coaches. So when I
said earlier in the interview that when you go back
two months ago. I didn't think we would be here
today today because of the amount of hoops that you
have to jump through. That's one of the hoops. And
it's tough to ask the team to go out there.
(48:18):
If you look at a team like the Houston Rocket,
who's my Gentoni? You know? And on the bench it's
not just Alvin Gentry, you have Jeff Jeff Beidelt, who
is the defensive coach. It's tough to asking guys. Look,
COVID nineteen is here. We all understand that we're in
the middle of a global pandemic. We're going to send
your team out to play, but you can't coach. These
(48:40):
are all the things that you have to take into
considerations prior to send them. The NBA back July thirty first,
and it comes down to how confident are the players
and coaches and Adam Silburg. And from what I've seen
and what I've heard in my own personal feelings, I
feel like guys are incredibly confident in him, and I
think he's earned it. He has navigated the NBA through
(49:01):
some treacherous riders from the moment that he's taken over
from David Stern. Rather the Sterling situation, the Kobe Bryant tragedy,
the David Stern tragedy, the China situation, and now COVID nineteen.
I think he has earned the trust that players and
coaches are giving him. What do you think he should
do with the older coaches. I think he should give
(49:21):
them the option. He should give them the option, because
the thing is, we all understand, just like you do
with players. Players know what they're what they're walking into
right now. You know what what the options are. That's
why certain players have said, you know what, if we
go back and play during this global pandemic, I'm not playing.
Guys understand what's at stake, you know, and if you
understand what's at fake, it's your option if you want
(49:45):
to go on and play, or if you want to
go on coach. It's it's not right to tell a guy,
we're going to send your team out to play without
their head coach, without their leader, especially when some of
these teams that we're talking about have an opportunity to
do something special for their organization. And I think, I
don't know, if I'm Greg Popovich, I wouldn't be that
happy because I heard that Adam Silver told them to
(50:08):
move his office to the cemetery. So okay, okay, last day,
I do want to say, Uh, it's hard for me
not to play around. Obviously the championship is going to
be one at Walt Disney World. Uh, it's just a
(50:31):
Mickey Will this be a Mickey Mouse Championship? No? Not
for me. Um. You know, the thing is, you continue
to hear the word asteris it should be simple to
have an Asters fight, right everybody dealing with the same circumstances.
There's not one team right now that has a clear
cut competitive ventice over another team. There's no there's no
(50:51):
home court, so why would there be an Asters fight?
You know? Um, there are circumstances that happened throughout the
course of every NBA season that gives someone an advantage.
In nineteen ninety nine, when we won the championship with
San Antonio's first Patrick Juan was hurt. So what are
we supposed to do? Okay? Oh no, no, no, no way,
Patrick Jurien is not healthy. Let's wait, let's wait to
it healthy so we can take the ASTs away. You
(51:13):
know what you put it? There is an asterisk on
that one though, Antonio. No, but if you look at
the Clippers. I mean, if you look at Toronto the
past year and people say, oh, you know what, they
wouldn't have won if Kevin Durant and Clay Thompson worn't
hurt were That's not the case because Kevin Durant and
Clip Golden State twenty fifteen. I was joking about the
(51:40):
asters when we got about thirty seconds left. Kevin Durant,
do you think you know, if he's one hundred percent,
should he come back? Should he try this? I don't know?
Um for me, uh, this is something I'm not really
qualified to answer because I don't know how he feels.
You know, all you can do go through drills, and
(52:00):
go through drills. The last thing you want to do,
if you're Kevin Durant and you're coming back from the
injury like that is put yourself in another situation to
set yourself bank for another year. Right. You know what
you do is you take your time, you rehab, you
get yourself back right, and you return next here with
a helpy Kyrie Irving and with a helpy Kevin Durant,
and now you make a legitimate Runnetty. You don't put
(52:22):
yourself in harm's way two years in a row. All right,
that's our man, Antonio Daniels, NBA Champion Pelicans color Analysts nine.
We appreciate it for sure, for sure, I talk piece.

(53:31):
It's time for six minutes. Thanks minutes, thanks minute, Thanks minutes.
That game friends beyond couple of debates and you decide
the winner. But there's a catch. They only have six minutes.
That's right, it is six minutes the our couple of
(53:51):
Fox Sports Radio, the segment that's sweeping the nation. If
you want to be a judge, calling right house to
look at some spots open at eight seven, seven, six, three,
six nine, and you can decide this debate once and
for all between Chris Brussard and Rob Parker. Now today's topic.
We've kind of touched on it here and there throughout
the last two years of the show, but we're gonna
(54:12):
settle it finally today right now, Fox Sports Radio. Who
is the greatest shooter in NBA history. Chris Brussard says
it's Steph Curry. Rob Parker, the reigning champion, says it's
Ray Allen. Now, Rob, as the reigning champion, you're gonna
(54:33):
get first ups. You got two minutes to stay your case.
Let's go. It's real simple. Ray Allen has made more
threes and has made more clutch threes. That's what it
comes down to. Steph Curry can make all the regular
season threes he wants. He doesn't make the big shots.
He's more like a high paid hallam globetrot to making
(54:58):
trick shots. But two thousand Steph is only shooting thirty
five percent for his career in the last two minutes
of close playoff games. By comparison the other stars in
the league, the Red shoots higher forty percent Duncan shot
Hire forty percent, Lebron forty percent, Kobe forty two percent.
How about in the finals, curries three throw percent is
(55:20):
dropped five and a half percent at four and four
and a half percent from three when you talk about
the finals. His efficiency rating also dropped in the playoffs,
his turnovers increased. Steph is only four for fifteen, or
twenty six percent on shots to tire win the game
with less than twenty four seconds to go. This is
(55:42):
what I'm talking about. If you want to be considered
the greatest shooter of all time, you have to make
big shots when the games matter. One of the greatest
shots in history, Ray Allen made. We're still waiting for
Steph Curry's biggest shot. I'm waiting. I don't hear it.
I'm waiting. And you know what, you can like Steph
(56:06):
Curry and say he's a magical and oh my god,
did you see that half course shot? Make it when
it matters, Ray Allen save Lebron's bacon with one of
the biggest threes in the history of the NBA. I
would give Ray Allen the ball anytime over Steph Curry.
Steph Curry is not the greatest shooter. It's rayenh Stop
(56:30):
it with that madness. The question was it who's the
best clutch shooter. It's who's the best shooter, and it's
easily Steph Curry. He's such a great shooter, Rod Parker,
that he changed the game of basketball from the elementary
level to the NBA level. The game is played differently
(56:50):
because of how great a shooter Steph Curry is, from
the number of threes, the team's attempt, to the spacing
on the floor, it's all changed because the Steph Curry
shoots it so well. He made the center position nine existed,
a position that was fundamental to the game of basketball
for sixty five years. He eliminated it because he shoots
(57:14):
it so well. There's many great shooters, including Ray Allen
before him, but none of them shot it so well
that they changed the game of basketball. If they did,
they would have done it. Know when it said Bird,
Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Jerry West changed the game. And
because Steph changed the game. When you tell the story
of basketball. He is on the first page. It's Bill Russell,
(57:38):
Will maybe Oscar, Doctor j Bird, Magic, Kareem Jordan, Lebron,
Kobe Shock, Duncan, and staff. If they mentioned Ray Allen
in the story, if it's mentioned as an accessory, as
a supporting role player to Lebron James's story. If Reggie
Miller's mentioned, it's as a victim of Michael Jordan's story.
(58:01):
Steph is mentioned because of his shooting. You know, you
a legend when they talk about the next one, like there.
You ever heard anybody say who's the next Ray Allen? No,
but every year they're looking for the next Steph. Is
it Dame Dollar, is it? Trey Young? Steph Curry is
easily the best shooter of all time forty three percent
(58:23):
all time from three nine, Ray Allen not even close
to that. Stop it right, And of course Steph Curry,
you're right, he has to be mentioned because he's the
author of the biggest choke in the history of the NBA.
He's such a great shooter. He couldn't even get his
team one win in three games. They won seventy three games.
(58:46):
And Steph is so great he couldn't even get it
and they could't even get them the one win. And
then you talk about where he fits in. Kevin Durant
took his team like his lunch money. He came to
Golden State said give me that took his team, took
his MVPs. Even if Guadowa has a Finals MVP and
(59:07):
Steph has nothing, he's holding a myth. He's a mirage.
He's not real. Real guys win MVPs when it matters.
Asked Michael Jordan, asked Isaiah Thomas, asked Larry Byrd, asked
my Magic Johnson, all the greats he has zero. He
can't be the greatest shooter because he's never won the
(59:29):
Finals MVP. Would it matter? Well, Ray Allen hasn't either,
So check that mess up. There's three players in history
of shot free throws over ninety percent. Guess what. Steph
Curry's number one best free throw shooter history ninety point
six percent. And he does that in the playoffs in
the finals two. Ray Allen not amongst those three. If
(59:52):
he's not clutch wise, he got more three pointers than
anybody in the playoffs, more three pointers than anybody in
the finals, averages tw any six points a game in
the playoffs and in the finals, three more than he
does in the regular season. If he's not clutched House,
he got three rings. When Ray Allen had his own team,
they couldn't even get to the finals. Steph Curry had
(01:00:13):
his own team and they won the finals. This is madness,
Rod Parker. It's easily Steph Curry. Not Before last season
the GM survey, forty four percent of them said they
want Steph taking the last shot. Not No other player
got more than he left in percent. It's still done, Steph.
(01:00:36):
Oh my goodness, someone turn on the air conditioner is
getting hot in here. That was easily the most contentious
six minutes we've had so far in the segments history.
We're gonna go to the judges dog because I know
who I think one, but my vote doesn't count. It's
all about the college in this situation. Let's get it started.
Judge number one, James in Virginia, who do you got
(01:00:57):
and why we're thinking taking my call? Gentleman, Happy Friday man,
Hell for the rescues man. I think both of y'all.
Gammon did a great job man, and I think if
we're talking, Clutch is definitely Ray Allen. But you know, Chris,
I was surprised, man, you you sold me on the
second one. Man, the best free flow percent this ninety percent.
I mean, the guys changed the game. So I'm gonna
(01:01:19):
go Steph Curry even though I was leaving for for
Ray Allen and for Rob Parker. Man, but you shold me, Chris,
you sold me Man, Thank you, brother. There's one for
Chris Brussard and Steph Curry. Let's move up to Seattle Coop.
Who you think won this one? And why? Uh that's
Chris and Chris. I know you surprised you can two
(01:01:42):
down straight? Um? Yeah, Rob, Steph Curry is the greatest
I mean long ball shooter, and I mean it's not
even close. So you guys have a good weekend, all right, brother,
you too. We could have a clean sweep on our ants.
Chris is only one vote away from getting the title.
Sean and Sacramento. Who won that debate? And why? Man
(01:02:06):
comes down to the one thing. Facts, Man with the facts.
If when you take days off the due research like that,
take many more, brother, Chris. Bring that's right, the first
sweep in the history of six minutes. Bring that beat back, Yeah,
(01:02:31):
bring that beat back, boy, six minutes. Ducky fresh Rod
as a new champion in own. That's right, good job, Robb,
though you put up a good effect. More I Couple

of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar and Rob Parker

only hard part is figuring out which way is easier
(01:03:15):
and robbed. Back to the story of the day, and
this is a story robbed that is I don't want
to say jess beginning because obviously there's stuff that's led
to it. But we saw earlier or last night the
NFL players, I don't know, it must have been twenty
five players. Black players put out a video demanding that
(01:03:39):
the NFL made a statement. Roger Well before Roger Goodell,
Donald Trump, the President comes out and after all the
backlash against Drew Brees, he says, Breeze never should have apologized.
He you know, says everybody should be standing and hand
(01:03:59):
on their heart and so on and so forth for
during the national anthem. He basically did what he did
a couple of years ago to change the narrative. None
of us, and including Colin Kaepernick, are saying we should
disrespect the flag or disrespect the national anthem it and
Colin Kaepernick went out of his way to make that known.
(01:04:23):
Met with the Green Beret from the Army, knelt down
out of respect for the flag, but out of protest
for what was going on in the country that the
flag represents. And so Trump again tried to change the narrative.
But after Trump did that, unlike a few years ago
(01:04:45):
where the NFL's owners and Commissioner Goodell, they went along
with what Trump said. They let him change the narrative,
they let him intimidate them into going against their players.
Goodell came out with a statement that we're playing a moment,
essentially saying exactly what the players demanded him to say.
(01:05:06):
Rob wasn't trying to hear it, which I can respect,
and I'm just saying I'll hear it, but it's gotta
be followed up by action. Here's the statement from Goodell
read the National Football League leave like lives matter. I
personally protested with you and want to be part of
the much needed change in this country. All right, short
(01:05:29):
version of that, robber, go ahead. I just I can't
get with it. I'm going to check out of Roger
Goodell in the NFL. They've already shown us who they are.
Players are to blame as well. I'm glad these guys
will all come too, but they have some blame as well.
Because Colin tried to do something, they gave him no support.
(01:05:53):
And now they've seen the light all of a sudden,
and now they're making videos and they're all on board.
So they have a lot more power than they could have.
They could have made the NFL respond, because they're that
powerful when you make up seventy percent of the league.
They had power to get the league to fall in line,
(01:06:16):
and they failed to do it. The players are the
same people who refuse to fight for their own healthcare
for their future, and so if they can't fight for
their own healthcare, I guess how can they fight and
stand up in this case? And now I think so
many people are just backed up against the wall I'm
not sure their hearts are in the right places, especially
(01:06:39):
the people who run the NFL. So I'm just there's
no way I'm going to feel good about a press
release or whatever he read. This is the same commissioner
who won't even recognize what they did talk about. They
didn't listen to their players. How about owning up and
owning it that that that what you did to Colin
Kaepernick was wrong and Colin Kaepernick was right, and you
(01:07:03):
and you guys should be an embarrassed and ashamed of
what you put this man through who was trying to
save black lives. If black lives really matter to you,
you would understand that. And I don't think they understand
that even to this day. So I'm out on Roger Goodell,
I'm out on the NFL. I'll wait for actions. I've
(01:07:23):
seen them commit. I've seen them in action. I've seen
these leagues move mountains, and I'll bring it up over
and over and over until people are tired of hearing
me say it. But I saw it. I saw them
change people in Arizona, and they did it financially. They
can do stuff if they really want to. They can
make people ask we acquiesce, and and and and be
(01:07:47):
good people and do things the same thing. When you
talk about the ownership, Chris, the NFL can do it
if they really want to do it. And threatened taking
away people's teams. It ain't a right to own a
NFL team, all right. They forced they forced owners out
because it's still a club, Chris, that you have to
be voted into. And if people don't do what's right,
(01:08:09):
that's in the good, the good benefit of the entire league.
You can have your team taken away by the league.
We saw it happened to Donald Sterling. We saw a
march shot in baseball have her team taken away from her.
It can be done. If you don't follow what we're
trying to do and the examples that we're setting so
that you can't tell me that they can't do it.
(01:08:31):
They can do it. Nobody's saying they can't do it.
And I agree with you in that it's gonna take action.
See if I take that sentiment of because of what
the NFL has done in the past, it's all said
and done. Nothing they can't change. I could feel that
way about America. With America has done the black people
in the past and the recent past, but we gotta
(01:08:54):
have change. And all I'm saying is this is a step.
Now it's up to the people in the fl and
the players to make sure Goodell lives up to this
statement he made. That was just a first step. Now
it's time to make sure that he lives up to it.
And these owners, you cannot cow tow the Trump this time.
(01:09:15):
Do not let them change the narrative. You need to
use your connections, because we know with your money, with
your bank you are connected to lawmakers, politicians, police chiefs,
attorney generals, so on it and so forth. Make there
be criminal justice reform and not just that. Start working
(01:09:35):
on a systemic racism. You said it, you said, you're
condemning it in your statement. Now take action. And lastly,
you're bet Get Colin Kaepernick a job. When Michael sam
was up for drafting, you made a call. You got
him drafted because it was politically correct. Get Colin Kaepernick
(01:09:59):
elite the league if he wants to be, Give him
a legitimate chance to play football. If he still wants it,
he's good enough, clearly, And if you really made a
mistake by silence in the protests, as you said, then
that's what's next. That that's clearly got to be next.
(01:10:19):
And I agree that players have more power, Rob than
they think, than they know, and they need to utilize
it too. But I can't take the stance of nothing
can change because of what they did in the pass.
So things can change, but you gotta keep the people
the pressure on. Frederick Douglas, who I quote it yesterday,
(01:10:42):
he said power concedes nothing without a demand, and they're unfortunately,
there has to be a demand made. And then we'll
see if this statement was just lip service or if
it was legitimate. And so that's where we are with it,
(01:11:03):

Basketball Association coming back. Their first games will be July
(01:11:49):
thirty first, and they're setting everything in order for a comeback.
Of course, the NFL, we're talking about all sorts of
things relate to the George Floyd murder. And let's move
on a little bit to baseball ROB. They still haven't
gotten it together and they're still negotiating. Reports now that
(01:12:11):
the owners ROB are proposing a forty eight game season
where they would play the players on a pro rated
situation salary. The players, of course, now and you you
made a good point about this, and this is showing.
(01:12:31):
Initially the owners proposed an eighty two game season with
not pro rated, but they'd have to take major pay cuts.
The players came back with one hundred and fourteen game
season pro rated. The owners are now they haven't proposed
it yet, but the talk is they're offering forty eight
games pro rated, and now the reports Robe are that
(01:12:52):
the players will accept eighty two games pro rated. Do
you think all of this is just negotiation or are
are they not gonna get it together? Because they better
get it together because they you know, I just think
it's negotiations. And you got the history of these two Chris,
the baseball owners and the players with the distrust. But
(01:13:15):
they've had twenty six years of labor. Piece. I gotta
believe that they'll come together. And you know this is
just the whole thing. Uh, you know, weah, you asked
for the moon knowing so so that the union can
save face to Chris by asking for one fourteen and
then the owners come back with fifty or whatever and
threatened for forty eight. Forty eight games does not make
(01:13:35):
a baseball season. You know that that's not even league,
That's not even that's they played school season, they played
thirty spring training games. How's roty eight season going to
crown a World Series champ? Do you know what I mean?
So I'm never buying into forty eight games that that
would make any sense. And I think that ultimately, uh,
both sides will feel good about it. They got back
(01:13:57):
to where they are. They'll probably be Chris some incentives
depending on where what happens with the TV money, you
know and all that other kind of stuff, where the
players maybe it's deferred until you know, they see what
happens with how things shake out, or if they can
have some fans. Do you know what I mean where
there's some other incentives for players to recoup some of
(01:14:19):
the other money they lose. But I do not believe.
I just don't. I've talked to a lot of people,
and most of the people I've talked to just do
not believe that either side can afford to go eighteen
months without the game. And considering what people, the average
Joe is going through. This just no matter what, it
(01:14:40):
doesn't matter like like who's right, owners or players, it's
going to damage the game. It's going to damage both sides,
and it will have lasting effects on the sport if
they can't get together. I just believe that. I totally agree,
and that's why they have. You said it, neither side
can afford neither one. Nobody wins. The players don't play,
(01:15:02):
say they say they're not playing. I don't know how
you could look at that and think it's a win
because you went from Chris. Remember, they haven't been paid
this year as far as regular season, so you're talking
about no money this year, and then the owners could
cry broke next year. The agent side, right, all the
minor league players are out on the street. How in
the world is that gonna work? And you know what, else,
(01:15:25):
Manfred claims and reporters say the same thing, or at
least that's what's been written, that he has the power
to demand the players show up and if they don't,
a year of services, you know, is lost. And that's you, right, right, right,
And so you're absolutely right. And you know, in this
situation where forty million Americans are unemployed, where people people, people,
(01:15:50):
and you and I and many my wife like people
have taken significant pay cuts during this pandemic. We all
get it, we all understand. And for layers not to
do that, for owners not to do that, to have
a season, oh it would be it would be tragic.
Especially right what's our last memory of baseball the cheating
(01:16:13):
scanned night. And here's the other part two. That's just
a little different. Not to I'm not making an excuse.
I'm just saying that's different. The other league's Chris got
stopped during the season, so they've gotten paid. They were
already a part of that. This happened before the baseball season.
That's why you have to negotiate it, do you know
what I mean? Because it didn't happen midway through the
(01:16:36):
baseball season. It would be easy if it was midway
through the baseball season. Yeah, no, you're right, because they
would have had some money already, would have had money, right,
and then you could say, Okay, we don't have fans,
we don't have this, and you would be able to
know how to go forward. And because it happened the
way it did, and then it wasn't until later when
(01:16:56):
you realize there would be no fans this year. I
think that chance, the scope of it. I'm gonna be honest, man,
I ain't that mad at a forty eight game season.
That's not baseball? Would you stop? Eighty two is great, Chris,
watch would be fine, but forty two is good. Here's
(01:17:18):
the thing with forty eight, though, the urgent ce the
urgent cy I will be watching every game when basketball
and football were annoying. But seriously, I would forty eight.

He usually comes on the hot seat and he usually

From called in and said he wanted to be on

because this is the guy who spent a long time

(01:19:07):
So I think it'll be great. Yes, indeed, and we
don't know, you know, what his stance is on it
will see, but it will be good to hear from him.
I should be informative. All right, Let's go to the NBA.
Rob I look, I am not. Let me start it here,
my fab five. I do it every Friday, my Fab five,
(01:19:30):
this show. I have the five most intriguing storylines of
the NBA reboot. At number one, I had if Kevin
Durant and Kyrie Irving returned to the Brooklyn Nets. Now,
I know there were reports today from Nets Daily and
(01:19:50):
that's Daily dot Com and from the New York Post
that Durant will not come back. If that's the case, fine,
I will not pressure him, criticize him or anything for
not playing, because it's his body and it's his mind
and all of that has to be right for him
(01:20:11):
to come back. What I am saying is this my opinion,
if he's a hundred percent healthy rob One, like doctors
are like, you're back. You don't want to play, it's
up to you, but you're back. Your body is fine.
You know, there's no you risk, no injury that you
wouldn't risk. You know before you got hurt, like you're fine.
(01:20:33):
I think this is a grand opportunity for Kevin Durant
and Kyrie Irry. This's both of them. To me, it's
got to be both because they will have no chance
of winning with just Durant or just Kyrie. If they
come back, it should be as a package deal. And
I see this rob as a great opportunity for them
(01:20:54):
to sneak a championship. And I'm not saying they I
wouldn't favor them in the overall and I wouldn't even
favor him in the East. I'm just saying those two
were so great. The Nets have a nice cast of
role players. This whole situation is jammed up, and Antonio
(01:21:15):
Daniel said it himself, like, no, these guys haven't been
playing for three months, like they're gonna be rusty. They're
going to be and not in game shape initially. This
is an opportunity in a truncated season for the Nets
to make some noise with house money, because if they
(01:21:36):
come back and they lose early, nobody's gonna Duran's rusty.
We get it, he hadn't played with Kyrie before, hadn't
played with his other teammates. We get it, We'll see
him next year. But if you make something happen. Oh,
and you know how obsessed Kevin Durant is robed with
(01:21:56):
being perceived is better than Lebron. What if he came
back and led the next to the championship this year.
I mean, my goodness, that would be huge. And Kyrie
you know how much he would love to beat Lebron.
So I'm look again, I'm not gonna criticize either one
(01:22:16):
if they don't come back, because it's their careers, their bodies,
their minds. I'm just saying, if they're one hundred percent,
I think they should. No way, no how should Kevin
Durant even think about coming back this year, even if
that's what the doctors told him last time. That hell,
(01:22:37):
you can't re injure this, You're all right, go back
out there. He cannot afford. And if I'm net ownership,
I don't want him out there. I'd rather him fully
heal up, give our franchise a chance to win. When
those two guys are back healthy in the mix, have
played with their teammates, have a feel for each other
(01:22:58):
to throw this together last minute, Like Michael Jordan when
he showed up in the last two weeks of the
regular season thinking that he was gonna come back and win.
They get in the playoffs and they were gonna win.
That doesn't work, Chris, It's never worked. It's too big
of a risk. The worst thing that could happen is
he further injured himself, further ruined his career. And he's
(01:23:21):
a young guy with a lot of time to go.
It doesn't matter about this year. Lebron's only getting older.
If they can win a championship, all they need to
do is bring one championship to Brooklyn and the dialogue
about Kevin Durant will be different about what he was
able to do going to Golden State, winning those mv
(01:23:41):
vps in the championship, and if he could do it
again and take another a franchise that had never won,
I should say in the Brooklyn Nets and win a championship.
That's gonna be good enough. Why why be half safe?
Why why try to be the hero when it could
be disastrous? And God forbid, he went out there not really,
(01:24:04):
you know, fully ready to go and even though he
might have felt good and he was playing five on five. Yeah,
he was playing five in March, right, I got it.
But but if he gets hurt again, if he gets
hurt next season, Christen, you just chalk it up as
you know what I mean, like he's gonna be injury
prone and this is nothing you could do. If he
gets hurt now, it will be devastating. And I just
(01:24:26):
think the Nets can't afford to have that happen. They're
not with the teams that are in the East. It's
not like it's wide open and there's nobody there, Jannis,
and to put together one of the greatest seasons ever.
I'm just saying it ain't wide open for the Nets
to win. And I wouldn't do it. I just wouldn't
do it. I hear you and a lot of what
(01:24:47):
you said. You mentioned a few things. You said, why
risk it, you know, get health, get fully healthy. I
agree with you, and to get fully healthy and all that,
because I've said if he's not one hundred percent, then
don't don't play. But and hopefully he's got different doctors
robed right, he's not listening to those dudes who told
(01:25:09):
him to get out there. And play for the Warriors.
You and I aren't even close to being doctors. And
we knew, we knew that was a ridiculous that we
both talked about. That was just crazy. But here's what
I'm saying. DeMarcus Cousins, whose body type is entirely different
from Kevin Durant, he came back from an achilles injury
(01:25:33):
after three hundred and fifty seven days. Chauncey Billups he
came back after from the Achilles injury after two hundred
ninety six days. If Kevin Durant were to play in
game one July f thirty first, it would have been
over four hundred days since his injury, four hundred days.
(01:25:57):
And again, if he's not fully healthy, fine, But I'm saying,
if he's fully healthy, why not You're if you're under
no more risk to play on July thirty first, then
you'll be on December twenty fifth, or whenever they start
the season, then why not playing? Because if you're again
(01:26:19):
getting full clears from all the legitimate doctors getting he
was playing five or five, what I do if I'm
KD And again, maybe he's said, look no way, but
go out there. If you're playing five or five in March,
if you can still And the reports are that they're concerned,
which is legitimate, that his rehab was disrupted rob because
(01:26:43):
of the virus, and so obviously he couldn't continue playing
five on five. That's legitimate if that's the case. Fun
but if he can practice with his team, maybe initially
he's playing five on five with the assistant coaches and
trainers like he was before. And if he practicing eventually
practicing with the team and he's good and he's fine,
(01:27:04):
like that's that's completely different from when he came back
and gold stay. He couldn't even move laterally, they told
him keep running straight. That's ridiculous. And I look at
the East, Rob and I agree, it's a it's gotten better.
But Milwaukee's got one superstar, Toronto has no superstars, Boston
(01:27:27):
is young, Indiana's got in that mediocre at best, or
they're a little better than mediocre. Miami, okay, all right,
Philadelphia's in mature like this could be a magical run,
and you're right, it'll be there next year. But I'm
this is this is some These are some odd circumstances.
(01:27:49):
You mentioned Michael Jordan coming back. Yeah, but the league
had been playing. Everybody was in shape, they were in
mid season form. Yeah, but this tame and Durant would
be just where almost where everybody else is. Nah, he
hasn't played all year, Chris, and he hasn't played with
that team. I just I just don't think. I'm not
(01:28:10):
saying they just step in swimmingly. That's why I said,
if if you don't look good, fine, I just I
wouldn't chanted I would I would just caution, I would
be cautious. I just think that the Nets have something
if they got these guys for the next three years.
The goal is not they're not trying to win three
championships in the row. They're trying to bring the champion
you're trying to bring every time. They're trying to bring
(01:28:32):
a championship to Brooklyn. I'm just saying, as competitive as
you are. No, but I'm not saying they're not trying.
But I'm saying, but I'm saying, if they their goal
is to come to New York and win a championship.
And if they do that before the Knicks could get
their act together and and at well, you know the
Knicks don't want the champion next year. But I'm just saying, what,
(01:28:53):
what a what a crown? That would be? What an
accomplishment to go to a quote unquote I'm not gonna
say all the way because the Nets have had some
good team to make the playoffs last year and whatnot,
but the never won it and a downtroden organization that
has never won it would be a major in the
cap of Kevin Durant. It just would. But see, I
(01:29:13):
don't think coming back again if he's one hundred percent,
and Kyrie's got to be one hundred percent too. And
the thing about Kyrie rob is he's injury prone too.
That's the thing. There's no guarantee Kyrie's gonna be and
I know there's no guarantee for anybody, but with his
injury history, there's no guarantee he's gonna be healthy for
(01:29:34):
the next three years. And so this, to me, this shot,
this is like a is in addition to playing with
house money, it might be easier to win it this year,
or at least get to the finals than it would
be going forward, because you gotta go through a tough
eighty two games season and all that. Everybody's out there,
(01:29:57):
you know, been off for three months gonna be rusty.
I just think it could be an opportunity, That's all
I'm saying. And KD. Look, one thing we know about KD.
He loves to play. He loves to play basketball. And
I would I I wouldn't be surprised Rob if if
(01:30:18):
he's playing and practicing with the team and he feels good,
if he's like, man, I'm ready, why because you don't
you know how it is, Rob, You don't get the
opportunity to win championships very often, you really don't. I mean,
there's only if you just go back. He got serious.
He wouldn't, he would be It would be defic Would
(01:30:40):
it be injury, yeah, just days. But if he's hurt,
just to get hurt a second year in a row,
after missing all season and coming back when when when
the when the plan was not to come back at all,
And then if you wouldn't even get then you have
to see coming up in December or whatever, just wait,
(01:31:03):
get your team together, figure it all out and make
a real honest run at it. They'd have a chance.

I just wanted to say, with all the craziness in
(01:32:45):
the world, just for something to be consistent and something
to be the same. I really appreciate you guys and
what you're doing. It might seem like something small, but
I was listening to you guys on my lunch break
like religiously, and now that I'm not working anymore, it's
like the only thing I can do is you know
you guys met You know what. We appreciate that. Chris
and I were very conscious of of just trying to
(01:33:06):
make have at least you guys have something nor something
to make life feel normal. So right now, yeah, and
good luck with the job search too, because I know
it's tough times out there. Man. Right now, I appreciate it. Luckily,
I still have my job. We're just waiting to come
back and okay, okay, but anyways, get to the KD
situation and answer the questions, the stipulation and the question
(01:33:27):
being if he's one hundred percent healthy, I think there's
no question he should come back. And I would hope
obviously I'm not, you know, an NBA savant like you
guys are an expert in KD. But I would hope
he would be grateful for the fact that he can
play basketball again and can make money doing it and
have fun and give people a sense of normalcy. And
I guess the question i'd pose is, give me one
good reason why he shouldn't play if he's healthy, because
(01:33:50):
if he plays and gets hurt the whole, it'll be
like the blame game. It'll be like, oh, they rushed
him back. Oh you know that that that they shouldn't
have done this, This was not the plan. Why would you?
Why would you do this? And now he's going to
be out another year. I'm saying, if you're the Nets,
take the L on the one year that you were
(01:34:10):
already expecting to take the l on, and and and
bring him back next year when your squad is together,
when you have didn't they if they hire a new
coach and get everything together and then make a real run.
To me, this would be a fake run. They don't
have a chance to come out of the East. I think, unfortunately, Rob,
you're right in that some people would like if he
(01:34:32):
got hurt, right, I don't think it would be you know,
we're all we're making the stiplation. If he's one hundred percent,
if you look at the days he's been you know,
will have been out, you can look at it objectively
and say it wasn't related to the past injury. He
just you know, just got hurt. But you're right in
that a lot of people would go with that narrative.
(01:34:54):
They would run with that narrative, even if it's not factually,
even if it had nothing to do with it, they
would And then they would blame all the nets are dumb.
Why would you sign Duran and then put him out
in the short and in a pandemic type season playing
in Orlando? You know what I mean? That come up
with something. Charles already had the virus too, so I
mean we think that would mean he can't get it again. Heck,
(01:35:17):
what if Yannis got it and you know they were
in a series. What if he got it again Charles
in Atlanta? You're in the Yad couple of Fox Sports Radio. Hey,
what's going on? Fellas? I initially called to say Katie
should play, but atho listen, man, you're kind of convinced me. Man,
I say no, Um, you got all you got on
all of next season. I say, don't play because, like
(01:35:40):
you said, ro the injury thing. If he gets if
he gets hurt, oh man, some people in New Jersey
can probably get fired and all the other stuff. So
you got some facing. Man, Well I think I think
he should. But yeah, yeah, I hear you. And this
really is where he's at mentally. If he's out there
thinking about the injury, that's not good. But if he
could be mentally free, and just like I'm ready, like
(01:36:02):
you know, I get it. I just you know, normally
I believe in it. I wanted to die on the play.
Remember that when he was said, I said, this is
a young kid. If he's healthy, then he should play.
Because the reason that people didn't want him to play
wasn't about the injury. It was because he had already
earned his stock as to be the number one pick.
(01:36:22):
Well he had, though I think he had more to
lose than Durant does. I don't know Duran Durant got hurt.
He's a legend already, you know what I mean, He's
got championships. I just I thought when you have an
eighteen year old, nineteen year old kid who doesn't want
to play and he's healthy, that would bother me. A guy,
(01:36:45):
a guy who's got more to lose as far as
his longevity and what he could do. I just think
you you were, You were in your own mindset, Chris.
You were set up for one year. You're gonna lose,
So just stick with that. That was where you were,
and you were gonna be ready for the following season
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. If you do
(01:37:05):
want to chime in, what other storylines, Rob, are you
looking forward to as this NBA season approaches? Players who
get hurt. I think there's a chance that just because
of the layoff, who gets who has the biggest best
player get hurt and and and crumble their playoff chances?
(01:37:26):
Do you know what I mean? Like, I just I
know someone's gonna get hurt. And who is that going
to be? Chris? We got another one in j D
and Oregon. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
How you guys. Man, man, you're good man. How are you?
The sok to guys? Thanks for I really rarely agree
(01:37:52):
with Rod, but I got away in real quick and
has got nothing to prove this season. I'm the biggest
K hater there is. But he's coming back in a
shortened season, an aspects season with a teammate in Kyrie
that's coming off shoulder surgery. What in the world has
(01:38:13):
he got to prove? Well? I agree he's got nothing
to prove and this year, and that's why I say
this is house money. Nobody expects anything. If they could
somehow catch fire and win the East, that would be huge,
But he'll have something to prove in the future. Nobody's
(01:38:34):
looking for him to prove anything in these next few months. Rob,
would you agree? I think he's got something to prove
in the future. Yeah, because he was great in Golden State,
but that was an awesome team before him and him
going to the Nets with no winning history, Chris, if
everybody criticized him even though he went with Kyweeds, still
they haven't won, it's different. It's different. It would be
(01:38:55):
him leading a franchise to a championship. Absolutely, and that's
why if he could do that and put that on
his resume. And you know, you know New York, Chris,
we both worked there professionally. You win a championship in
New York, man, you're gonna be talked to any of
the Uh, it's just a bigger stage. Yea. Yeah, along
(01:39:21):
the lines of what you were saying before the caller,
the last caller about the injuries. You know what's interesting is,
you know, the league is understands that somebody or actually
somebody's getting the virus is likely. No, what if they're
what if they're in the midst of a say it's
(01:39:43):
the Lakers and the Clippers or you know, Lakers in anybody,
or Clippers in anybody and Lebron or Kate Kawhi, you
know some it could be any key player's about a
handful of players that it would completely destroy their team's
chances of winning the playoffs, especially especially to me, Chris
Lebron because this is his best last because he's old.
(01:40:06):
Yeah right, that's what I mean, only only because of
that if he doesn't, because because he really did, he
needs to win because you don't know about next year.
You don't know about year eighteen. You just don't know
what will the Lakers have the same chemistry? Will it
be different next year when Clay and Steph or back
when Golden State and Kawuhi and Paul Georgia healthy from
(01:40:27):
the start of the season. Do you know what I mean? Like,
you just don't know. So if you're if you're Lebron,
this is your best last chance. Yeah, it would be
heartbreaking if any player, any of the superstars got it
and like, say, you're in the series, it's Game three,
tie one one and Yannis or Harden or Lebron or
you know, goes out with the virus. That would be
(01:40:50):
tough because you know that would that would change the series.
But all right, we got our man eat from Salim
coming up and he wants to bring the heats. Will
be joint by him momentarily. But first be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussar
then Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
(01:41:13):
Chris and Rob coming to you live from the Geico
Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's easy to say. Fifteen percent
of morn your car insurance with Geico go to Geico
dot com or call eight hundred nine four seven auto.
The only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
He was dying to come on and voice his opinion.
He's our colleague here Fox Sports Radio on weekends, weekend
(01:41:36):
host and former NFL player. Yes, we want to hear
from him. I from salon, what's up, brother, what's happening?
It's great to hear your voice, man, and have you one,
and we are excited to hear your viewpoint on what
you know has gone down in the last twenty four
hours in the NFL. The players making that video demanding
(01:41:57):
that the league, i e. Roger Goodell make a statement.
He makes a statement that is almost verbatim what they
were saying. You buying it, You encouraged, You think it's
a bunch of just pr bass or what's your take?
So you gotta you gotta really look at the big
picture here, right, So when the protested, when when the
(01:42:19):
players were protesting about three four years ago, they didn't
really have any weight behind their voice because obviously we
wouldn't be in this situation, right, So those players taking
that initiative and demanding, not asking, but demanding the NFL
addressed this number one, apologize right. Have you ever heard
(01:42:41):
the NFL apologize right, there's the eight thousand pound gorilla
in the room. No, and they won't even mentioned Colin
Kaepernick's name either. So for me, watching the players take
back some of that power that the owners tried to
strip away from them, right, because think about it, if
(01:43:01):
the NFL doesn't adhere to what these players want, they
got a real situation on their hand at this point
in this country, with the with the climate that's happening.
I can guarantee you players were ready to not play
games and the NFL doesn't want They don't even want
it to get that far. And you're right, they should
be ready to do that. It's about time. They should
(01:43:23):
have been ready to do that three years ago. But
we can't go back. All we can do is go forward.
So when I the first statement that that Goodelle put out,
I talked about it on the show last week. It
was terrible. I would have never I would have never
think you that whoever was like, yes, put that out,
I would have been like, no, don't do that. That
ain't what you want because it was tone deaf, it
(01:43:44):
didn't admit any fault and it was. It was condescending
to African Americans and their play and the NFL's players,
and that's what prompted these players to send that video
and be like, yo, that that's not gonna fly. Yeah.
From my biggest problem is it's got to be about action.
You're asking the same people who too, who a couple
(01:44:06):
of weeks ago, was offering coupons and free cookies, uh
to owners to hire black people. I mean, you know
what I mean. So I got a hard time to
believe the only reason that they're doing what they're doing
is because they have no choice. The country's on fire.
They have not what I'm saying, but I'm not. I'm not,
but I'm not buying it. But I'm not buying it
(01:44:28):
until they time to think about it. And and and Chris,
you talked about it earlier about affirmative action than other
people programs that were enacted by the government because the
ruling rule itself. Right, just we however, we get to
to the primis land, so to speak. Let's get there,
(01:44:49):
right right, Let's let's get there because he changed. If
change hasn't happened, they were forced to do it with
an NFL thought they had to do it good. They
do have to do it from I'm gonna tell hold on,
hold on, let me say this to you. If if
there's change in the NFL, and change it ain't gonna
(01:45:12):
come from those owners. I guarantee you. The only way
it'll happen is if the players take control of this moment.
If you're waiting for rich white guys to care about
black people, it ain't gonna happen. I'm telling you they're
trying to do. What do you think the players are
doing it right now? We just they just demanded something.
(01:45:33):
It happened within what a day, twenty four hours, forty
eight hours? What they see they understand listen, wait, hold on,
hold on, they understand the power that they now will
because the world is watching the world is watching, and
you want to see people just not watch the NFL
for real. Then you mishandle this situation, right, you mishandling this.
(01:45:57):
The NFL will adopt the Black Lives Matter. There will
be They're gonna sell Black Lives Matters T shirts at
at NFL Arena stadiums this year. Look at this point,
it's either right along what side? What side of the line?
Are you gonna be ony of their workforce. Is African
American pilliod or you get off and they cannot get off?
(01:46:23):
Does the true I think a true apology. I think
there are several things, even actions, that the players need
to demand. One of them being that these owners push
hard for criminal justice reform. Another one being that Colin
Kaepernick should be in the league if he wants to play,
If they're really good down said tonight, we apologize I'm paraphrasing,
(01:46:48):
but you know, for squelching the protests, the peaceful protests
that our players made a few years ago. And if
you're really sorry for it, then at the very least
Kaepernick needs to be offered a job. And we've seen
commissioners make a call to a team, Michael Sam they
called the Rams, hey draft this guy, right. That can
(01:47:11):
be done. And maybe Kaepernick's done with it, you know,
maybe he's like, look, I don't y'all, not sincere whatever.
I don't want to play anymore. But he should be
giving the given the opportunity, since we know he's good enough.
Where are you staying on that? I agree with that,
and I'm like you, I don't even know if he
wants to play anymore. When you've been out of the
(01:47:32):
league three or four years, you know, life begins to happen, right,
and we all have that hope. I remember two years
after I retire, my agent calls like, hey, what you
want to do? I was like, hang up the phone
on you. So you get to a certain point, and
once you've been out of it, because it's so intensive
and so rigorous, once you stopped for three years just
(01:47:57):
to get yourself back to a level to where you
can compete and not be a joke. I don't know
if he's willing to do that now. If he is
willing to do that, of course, of course something should
happen to where he's offered a job. Will he ever
start in the NFL again? So that's my whole thing.
Is he going to take a job just to pacify
(01:48:18):
some you know, people will think he should have a job,
or if you're gonna have a real opportunity to go
and maybe start on play and lead a team again
and be the face of a franchise again. I don't
know the answer to that. But yet, at the very minimum,
that avenue should be open. Because the NFL openly admitted
that they handled the situation home. Whether they said his
(01:48:39):
name or not? Right? Where do you stand on do
you think players will kneel? Or maybe it depends on
what happens over the next couple of months, But do
you think players will and should kneel during next season?
During the answer or where do you where do you
think that might go? As of right now the way
(01:48:59):
things are going on, anybody who's not kneeling out start
question them. No, I agree with that. Remember, look if
they were playing again, if the season was right now
and they were playing games this Sunday, if every single
player in the NFL wasn't kneeling, man, you on the
other side, right, and he from let me ask you this,
(01:49:22):
what Drew Drew Brees his grandfather's went out the window
pretty quickly in twenty four hours. What happened there? He
was he was so hard, he had such a hardcore stance,
and twenty four hours later, all of a sudden, that
went out the window. What do you make of that?
You can't do. What you can't do is you can't
trick people anymore. Right in twenty twenty, people now going
(01:49:42):
for it, changing the narrative right, and and the thing
is their pictures online of Drew brees kneeling with players, right,
that was when that was what the first weekend back,
that was a trump thing. The whole league did that. Yeah, right,
So not every not everything. The Dallas Cowboys they just
(01:50:05):
locked arms, right, So not everybody knelt kneel down. So
if you're gonna say after you've probably knit with your brothers.
If you're gonna say that, you're not gonna stand for
guys kneeling and disrespecting the flag after, you know what
it is. Right when I was first asked about this,
(01:50:26):
I didn't know the context of the interview. I just
heard a snippet. But I mean, you can't be no
more wrong than that, and you can't walk that back.
He said it. He said that and then addressed the team.
You know, like afterwards he's some guys talk to him
or so. I don't know if you're saying it was
he's well respected in that locker room. We know, Well
(01:50:49):
do you think he's so you said no walking it back?
How you think you're gonna be accepted in the locker room? Now? Look,
the one thing football does is it makes you put
us side your differences for one common goal. That's the beauty.
That's why everybody loves the locker room because you got Republicans, Democrats, whites, blacks, everybody.
(01:51:13):
Everybody's in that locker room. It's only one goal. We
gotta win the game, gotta win the Super Bowl, gotta
make the playoffs. So you put. You don't have to
like everybody you play with, but you have to respect
what they bring at their position and what they bring
to the team. That's the beauty of the locker room.
Everybody I don't get along. It's impowerble. But what you
have to do is you have to have the respect
(01:51:36):
of those players. Drew Brees is one of is not
the most prolific pastor of the football ever, the respect
is there. Now. You may not be invited to the
Thursday night offensive dinner anymore, right, that's still going to
be expected to go out there and pass for five
(01:51:57):
thousand yards and thirty touchdowns in digit and ten interceptions.
Things you're still gonna have to do. Whether the guy
you're throwing too, I'm gonna mess with you or not.
He from Salim, great stuff, brother. I was gonna say
it for your perspective. Yes, we appreciate your knowledge, but
if you stayed on any longer. Ben Mallow's coming up
(01:52:17):
that it's definitely time to go. You're getting hockey, bro,
Thank you bright Man, thanks a lot, all right, piece

College Show. I'm a little moist, right man, I wasn't.
(01:53:03):
I didn't do it right, that was you know before
I didn't. I didn't sore throat. Really, I never really
did it. I did a couple of times and got
a sore throat. Oh that's another drop. Never hear that again, y'all. See, y'all,
(01:53:23):
get your minds out of the gutters. Man. You know,
I was redeemed a few years later, and now I've
never told him begin all. Right, here we go, Rob,
Let's end up with this Kevin Durant. Uh we we
got to that story just in time because he squelched it.
Now it's over. He told The Undefeated that he's not
(01:53:45):
coming back this that makes sense. I think, Hey, he
won't get any criticism from me. I would love to
see it. Yeah, nobody, But you can't kill him. Nobody
can kill him. It's it's it's all good. Um, there's
a little bit of me holding now hope. But now,
kudos to Kevin Durand he's got to do what he
feels comfortable doing, all right. Um. Michael Jordan rob the
(01:54:08):
Jordan and his Jordan brand, which is produced by Nike.
They've committed one hundred million dollars over the next ten
years to fight racial injustice. Here's just a brief part
of their statement. The Jordan Brand is us the black community.
Until the ingrained racism that allows our country's institutions to
(01:54:31):
fail is completely eradicated, we will remain committed to protecting
and improving the lives of black people. One thing, Robbed,
and you know, I've I've talked about how we've both
talked about how black athletes, because of the position they're
in and because of the historic and contemporary racism of
the country, we need them to step up, not just
(01:54:54):
in words, but in actions. And one thing I've always
felt is that our athletes who are endorsed by these
companies connected. Nike is dying to half you, Adidas is
dying to have you, McDonald's, Gatorade, Coca Cola, they're dying
to have you. Make them do in addition to paying
you and taking care of you. I would love to
(01:55:16):
see the athletes make them do something for the black community,
whether it's helped start schools, management trainee programs, you know,
in their company, whatever it may be. And so props
to Michael Jordan or this. We know he hasn't been
you know, Muhammad Ali obviously in the past, or even
(01:55:37):
Lebron James when it comes to social issues. But I'm
happy to see this. Yeah, I mean, I don't know
how you couldn't be when when somebody is committing those
kind of dollars to try to help make change, and
it's not just some token commitment. That's a that's a
that's a real commitment. That's that's not for a company
(01:55:58):
like that, it's significant. It's an unbelievable amount of money.
And Mike has been doing that ever since. Stuff has happened.
I just wish Chris, that's all, and we've talked about it,
and I don't think any it's a secret. I just
wish that he could have done some other stuff when
he was a player and had that platform. I think
he could have made real change back in the day,
(01:56:19):
that's all. No, he could have, but hey, you can't.
You can't redo the past, but you can try to
make up for it in the future. So hopefully that
is what will happen. All right, it's the I couple,
Chris and Rob. Have a great weekend. Rob, have a
good weekend, and we will be back next week, Yes,
sir p
