Visit Geico dot com for a free raid quote. At
the bottom of the hour ride, we got a great guest,
(00:47):
first time guests for us, I believe, maybe second time,
but Tim Brando Fox. Yeah yeah, Fox Sports College Football Broadcast.
I've really admire him from AFAR. I think he does
a great job. Um, and I'm excited to have him
on at the bottom of the hour again obvious voice.
(01:07):
I thought we had him warm Robs. I think we
may have had him once. Yes, okay, that's yeah, I
remember him being on once. Oh yeah, yeah yeah, And um,
I was actually gonna speak for yourself with him. Uh
once before, and I was gonna speak yesterday. I'll be
back on tomorrow. I'm back on there. Wow. Yeah, yeah,
I'm excited about it. I got my street going. You
(01:32):
might get back you know what they might get you
in the mix. Well, you know, it's a whole new
vibe there. Now. It's all Hey, you know, I'm I'm
I got undisputed and the herd. I'm good. You're the
You're the jack of all trades, all the shows, first days,
first early man, it's uh, it's it's it makes a
(01:54):
long day when you do that at seven thirty in
the morning and then this. But it's all good, brothers
not complaining, all right, Rob, let's get to it again.
The story of the day. There's no need to go
anywhere else. The NC double A. And you did a
great trash talking Tuesday, And speaking of which I'm gonna
let you have your fun because I know you love
doing this. It is what, Rob, that's right. Ain't trash
(02:17):
talking Tuesday? That's right. Your chance to trash anyone anything
in the world of sports. That's coming up. Christ and
about what thirty seven minutes, So be ready, prepared, be
ready to come, hard, strong and fast. That's right, that's right,
(02:38):
all right, I'm gonna leave that alone. We are they did.
The story is the nc double A. And you did
a great trash talking Tuesday, as you do every day
every week on deadspin dot com. And I thought you
hit on the head. We've talked about the coaches, we've
talked about, you know, the decision. Where's the NCAA. I mean, seriously, like,
(03:05):
if you're not going to give guidance and leadership at
a time like this, during a global pandemic, what in
the world are you there for. Are you just there
to take the money from March madness? Are you just
there to take the money from the Bowl games? Are
(03:27):
you just there to make sure that you keep this
facade of amateurism going. What are you there for? Where's
the leadership? Why are the conferences all doing whatever they
want to do? Why is it one thing for the
PAC twelve, another thing for the Big twelve, one thing
(03:47):
from the Big Ten, another thing from the SEC, another
thing from the ACC. Why are some of your conferences
waiting to poach teams from other conferences? What in the
world is going on? And Rob, I'm just saying, like,
this is where you need an nc double A four
(04:10):
there it always got their hands in some business that
they don't need to be a part of. Or you're
jumping on a player because a booster bought him a
dinner at an Italian restaurant one night. But when it
comes to setting the tone, setting the leadership, giving out
direction during the global pandemic, you know where to be found.
(04:33):
You're leaving it up to the administrators of every conference.
I'm sorry the NCBLEA. That should be one decision made.
You need to go and announce it. We are not
playing fall sports this year period the end. I don't
want to hear about the SEC trying to get teas
(04:55):
from the Big ten. I don't want to hear about
Big ten coaches saying they might go play elsewhere. No,
there's no sports period. It was good enough for Division two,
it was good enough for Division three, it's good enough
for Division one. We care about our athletes safety, and
doctors are telling us there could be long terms effects
(05:20):
on the heart. That's it. It's over. But where is
that leadership? Rob Parker, I beg of you to shed
some light on this. It is missing in action as always,
and in this situation, Chris it's a damn shame because
you're right, the kids are looking for leadership. Explain what's
(05:44):
going on. Allow the kids to say, we know you
want to play football. Everybody wants you to play football,
but you can. And I would just explain and show
how all over America life has changed as we know it.
It ain't the same. It ain't the same for a
big reason. And these coaches, and I'm gonna call him
(06:09):
phony coach. I want to say something else, Chris, who
want to tell you that walking around on social distancing
and instead being on foot, practicing and being on top
of each other with sweat and all that is safer
is the biggest crop going. They know it's not They
(06:31):
know it's not safer. That's why they won't take responsibility
as a player, as a parent. Ask yourself, how come
they asking you to sign a waiver and telling you
that they're going to remove themselves of any liability if
you get sick? Why because it's safer than being home
(06:55):
and social distancing. How it makes no sense, all of
you guys being brain washed out there, get a grip.
I know you want to watch football. We do wings
bear all of it our saturdays. We live for it.
(07:15):
They cannot and will not take responsibility. That's why the
kids can't play Christian, hear me, because they won't take responsibility.
If they were willing to take responsibility, Christian will be
a different story. We're not gonna get that poor leadership.
(07:36):
The same day they canceled Division two and Division three
football was the day they should have canceled Division one
And the only reason they didn't do it because they're
greedy and the money grab that goes with college football.
It's the dirtiest secret ever in this country that they
make money off these kids backs, all right, the IVY
(07:58):
League coaches talking about and to play somewhere. No are
the Division two coaches talking about going to play somewhere else.
They don't love football just as much. Just because they're
not as good doesn't mean they don't love football just
as much. Those coaches get paid a little bit of
money too. They want to coach. What is this And
(08:19):
here's the other thing, rob the coaches whose mantra is
always about respecting authority, doing the right thing. When the
coach says run you run, when I say run ten winsprints,
run ten winsprints. When I say you know run a
(08:41):
tackling drill. Running the tackling drill. When I call a play,
running the play. When I give you your assignments on
the offensive line, block your man. If you don't do
any of that, if any of the offensive lineman a
tackle art, if any of them go rogue, the whole
(09:03):
team suffers. Gentlemen, we have got to listen to authority.
That's what they tell the kids. Go to class, listen
to your professors, Listen to your tutors. Make sure you're
in study hall. Don't be late, in fact, be five
(09:26):
minutes early. All of that. It is the character you're
going to learn from our program. We build men. We're
not just about football. We build character. And if you
could go out into the real world right yes, and
(09:47):
as soon as the decision is made by somebody in
authority over you that you don't like the I mean
the the heck, the equ wasn't even dry up before
coaches start talking about going play it elsewhere. Before coaches
(10:07):
are ready to defy the commissioner of the Big ten
and go play somewhere else. Who in the world do
you think you are? Where's your medical degree? Exactly? Well?
Are you going to pay the medical bills. Are you
did Jim Harball stand up at Michigan, Chris in front
of the Big House and say I got you. If
anybody gets sick or anybody passes away, here, I'm footing
(10:31):
the bill. Where was that speech? Will we I'm waiting
for it. Let's wait, Chris, because we'll never hear that speech.
Will we never never hear that speech? Yeah, it's just
and Rob I think, and I'm not trying to be political,
but it's just a freaking fact. It's just a fact.
(10:53):
This whole virus, this whole pandemic, we have lacked national direction. Yep,
from the start. Whoever you want to put the blame on,
put it on them, But we have lack direction. It's
every state for itself. It's every state for itself. We're
(11:14):
still getting mixed messages still, and what's going on with
the NCAA and these coaches or really the conferences is
a microcosm of what's happening in nationally. Just like we
got some states that want to shut down others that don't.
(11:36):
And not because you know, some states are at different
levels in different stages than other states, but just because
of the politics, right were in this country Chris, how
did how did this science and this medical stuff become
political where people who didn't wear masks, Chris, We're mostly
(11:56):
Republican and people wore about How when did we get
to that point? Who do people crying about wearing masks?
How did that become a political party? Right? Medicine saw it.
That's the thing certain hard sciences. The hard sciences are objective.
(12:18):
It says, it's all it is. In social science. Social
science is subjective, it's changing all the time. Hard science
that's objective. And we read earlier that the doctor from
the this was the kicker for me, Rob because look,
some people want to say it's the flu. We even
(12:39):
heard President Trump on the Clay Travis Show today say
it's you get the sniffles, and and and and all
that stuff. But now you have doctors coming out and
saying that you could have heart long term heart problems.
You can have long term, hard problems that could cause
(13:01):
you to go into cardiac arrest. Even if when you
got the coronavirus, you were asymptomatic, felt you know, no
issues whatsoever, and then years later you could have heart inflammation.
That's the kicker for me because now it's like oh no, no,
(13:23):
hold on, we can't put these people at risk for
our entertainment or for me to make money, or for
me to you know, get my jolly's As a coach,
I just love the game so much, right, Oh, but
nothing else matters. I eat, sleep, I sleep in the
coach's office, Chris, I watched tape nineteen hours a day.
(13:46):
You know, it's like a lifestyle, like all brag about. Oh,
I don't go home and I sleep on the couch
here and I watched so much tape my eyes are blurry.
And I didn't go to my my Suns high school
graduation because there was a game, you know what I mean?
Like that? That's that coaches me right so much, right,
(14:07):
they brag about it. Absolutely absolutely So eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. You're gonna get your chance to
call in on trash Talking Tuesday in about twenty minutes.
You should start calling in eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox. But until then, keep it locked right here,

Brussard and the Ride Parker were brought to you by
(14:48):
Blue EMU. Blue EMU Maximum Pain Relief. It works fast
and you won't stink. It's pharmacists recommended odor free pain
relief from muscle pain, backache, strange sprains, even arthritis. I'll
tell you this weekend or past weekend, I spent all
day Saturday moving my daughter into her new apartment in Connecticut.
(15:10):
And you know I was lifting dresser drawers, you know,
stuffed in boxes that I had to put together. Yes,
I needed Greg Jennings with me. I was lifting dresser drawers,
desk table's chair, bringing them up flights of steps. You know,
(15:31):
my wife and daughters didn't help much. It was on me.
It was on me as the man. I know that's
old school, but that's how I rolled. I ain't even
want them to help me. But afterwards, after hours of
putting this stuff together, I was sore, bicep, sore, figh sored.
(15:53):
I needed some Blue EMU. And there's no stingy, no
burning with blue. You know, you used to put on
some stuff and you can smell. People can smell you
from a mile away. Not with blue Emil. I rolled
up on folks, Blue Emil all over me and nobody knew.
It's simple pain relief. I felt much better too. Blue
(16:15):
Emil maximum pain relief. It works fast and again, YO
won't stink. All right, Rob Parker, you and I have
have gone off on the NC double A and UH
for their lack of leadership, their lack of guidance, and
it's disappointed both of us, and most importantly, it's an
(16:35):
injustice to the kids, because the kids need that leadership
and that guidance, not guidance, now more than ever. And
so it's it's unfortunate and a bit shameful that every
it's every conference for himself. That's why it's a conference.
That's why everybody's not independent and people are making their
(16:59):
own decisions. The commissioner spoke, the school president spoke. For
a reason, these guys came off as so selfish. Man,
it's it's it's I shouldn't say it's hard to believe, Chris,
but it just tells you where people are and how
little they really care about the kids. And I'm gonna
(17:21):
say that, how little they really care about the kids,
and it's more about feeding the machine that that's been created.
It's about spitting out, putting the kids in, and spitting
them out, getting some new ones. Chris, those kids move
on and you keep making your money. That's what it's about.
It Really, it's unfortunate because again and and and look,
(17:45):
it's not just the coaches. It's some fans. It's some
broadcasts or some of us. Because where are the complaints
about the volleyball being canceled? No? Not zero cross country zero?
Have you heard anything about that? Nobody cares about them.
Nobody's feel for the key. It's terrible for Becky, this
is our senior year in volleyball. Oh, this is awful.
(18:07):
What are we doing? Nothings talk about Division two and three? Chris,
I don't remember, big stink. I don't know one football
player uh Division one getting on their high on their soapbox,
crying over no football for those guys. I don't remember one.
It's true, it's true, and so that, like I said,
(18:31):
a lot is being exposed during this time. But I
think also Rob, people have to understand the difference between
professional sports and college sports. And you and I are
both proponents of college athletes being paid because listen again,
this is exhibit A. It's pro sports. It's it's a
(18:54):
minor league for the NBA. It's a minor league for
the NFL. That's what it is. This is exposing it
more than anything else, all of the handwringing over we
gotta get these kids to play. Nick Sabans a pro
football coach, I'm sorry, yes, and not when he was
(19:15):
just not just because he coached in Miami and coached
the Dolphins right now right now. Ed berger ogeron a
professional football coach. That's what they are, Jim Harball, come on,
and so these kids either have to start being paid
(19:37):
like the professionals they are. If they were getting paid, Chris,
it might be a different state than they could do
their own thing. Ye're paying them, we wouldn't be saying
a darn thing, no go ahead out there. If you
decide that that's what you want to do. You've had
pro athletes making millions of dollars. Chris, opt out, opt out,
(19:58):
and these opt out. Six How many starters on the
Patriots is a four or six? Six? Six? Six six
players play starters? Three starts six players on the New
England Patriots. Chris one of the best franchises, even though
they cheat in the NFL and they opted not to play.
(20:20):
Do you hear me? And these college kids are telling everybody,
and these college coaches are telling everybody that is safer
to play football than it is to be at home.
That's actually came out of their mouth. Come on, really,
these are nineteen and twenty year old kids. You don't
think they're gonna be partying on campus with the other
college kids in the dorms. Come on, that's just hargwash.
(20:46):
So you can play football. It's just and it's just
not right. Rob. And again, I'm no doctor. I'm trusting
the doctors though nobody out there with the series or doctors.
You go to people who know what they're doing. Okay,
your wife's a doctor. You got a medical question, Chris
(21:07):
in your house, where do you go? You answer to her?
If your daughters or do you go to your wife?
You go to your wife? Right, if there's a question
about who's the backup center on the first I don't
think you go to your wife for the answer to right,
That's where I'm the expert that shows the major difference
in our life's path. Right, she's saving lives I'm talking
(21:30):
about basketball. Hey, it works though. We're the odd couple too,
my wife and already odd couple too, right, But Una, Rob,
it just look, we get it. It's everybody misses sports,
college sports. Let's be thankful that we got pro sports.
Those are really the only ones that should be playing
(21:52):
right now. Rob. Yep. They have their lives and in
their own hands, their grown men, Chris, with families and
not They can make those decisions on their own the
way the league is set up, and they can make
those because there are some players who didn't right, who
decided not to right. And we respect those people, don't
We We respect them. They have issues at home, they
(22:15):
have things going on. Maybe somebody would have compromise, immune
system or something. They just don't want to take the chance, right.
Russell Wilson was up in the air for a minute.
Rand baby pregnant? Yeah yeah. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob
Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on
(22:36):
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. Rob, this
is what a trash talking twos. That's right. You can
call in and trash anyone or anything in the world
of sports eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Honestly,
(22:59):
you need to be calling in right now because the
lines light up quickly. So hit us up eighty seven
seven ninety nine on Fox and you'll get your shot
to trash anyone or anything in the world of sports.
Rob Damian Lillard, as you heard Brian share with us,
he just scored sixty one points and really a must
(23:21):
win against the Dallas Mavericks. He outshine Chris stop Sporzingis
and Luca don Chi to lead the Blazers to that victory.
And he actually joined Wilt Chamberlain as the only player
with ever with three or more sixty plus point games
(23:43):
in a season. That is that's an incredible accomplishment. Don't
you think it's a big number? No doubt because it
didn't right. I mean, which to get sixty three sixty
to get three sixty point games in your career is good, right,
doing one season season right, and and a shortened season
(24:03):
at that. I mean, this is incredible. And of course,
look taking nothing away from Will, but let's face it,
I mean Will wasn't facing the type of competition that
Damian Lillard is, you know, being seven feet tall at
that time, and kind of the unwritten rule only so
many black players in the league. I mean, for Damian
(24:24):
Lillard to do this, it's uh, that is huge. Uh.
I don't know if you saw Undisputed today, but you're
probably aware of kind of the beef between Damon Dame
Lillard and Skip our colleague, Skip Bayless. Let's talk a
little about about you and I both have had you know,
you look when you when you're in this business, you're
(24:46):
gonna upset some athletes. You're telling people who you're telling
thirty five years of it, right right? It just it looked.
We let's talk about that because I think one thing
and I get it. Sometimes it's when you're in that position,
you know, you take things the way you take them.
(25:08):
Nobody likes to be criticized. But I think I certainly
am speaking for myself and I think you agree. But
I'll give you you know, you can say it yourself.
It's never personal. Never, it's never personal. How many times
I gotta hear why do you hate Tom Brady? Why
do you Lebron? Yet? I don't dislike these people. I
(25:29):
don't know them on that level. I'm just talking about
their ability or what I see as an analyst, Chris.
That's why we went to school, right, That's what That's
what our job is rest and it's no different. And
this is where the players the ones that get upset
(25:50):
about this. And again I get it. None of us
like to be criticized, So I understand that just as
a human being, I do get that. Um, But what
we do rob's really not much different from what the
athletes do themselves among themselves or you know, when they're
chilling with their boys at the crib, when they're watching
(26:11):
the game, you know, with their crew, when they're maybe
even in the locker room talking about different players, they critique, right,
you critique. I've heard Kevin Durant talk about football players
on podcasts and and things. Like other basketball players. You critique,
and you think so and so is better than so
and so, You think so and so is overrated, You
(26:34):
don't think this guy's that good. Good. We all do it.
We're only thing is we're doing it publicly. We're doing
it where the people we're talking about may hear it.
They're likely to hear it, right, And we have to do.
We have to be able to handle that if they
(26:55):
come at us, but understand, we're doing nothing different then
what you're doing. We're just doing it where the person
we're talking about may hear it and may come back
at us, and we have to be able to defend
our point. But it's never personal. Here's the other argument
that we get all the time. Did you play any NBA? Yeah,
(27:18):
did you play any NBA? Well, I would say to
those players and fans who throw that at us, Chris,
have you ever written a column for a major newspaper?
Have you ever done live TV for two hours? Right?
Have you done a three hour radio show? You don't
know what we do at you? So how are you
gonna tell us our business? If that's if that's what
(27:40):
we're gonna say, right, If we can't it's going to
criticize you as an NBA player or an NFL player,
then how could you criticize us? You don't know what
we do. I would say that the players sometime, have
you ever written a callum for major Dale? And they
look at me, Chris on deadline They would go like, no,
I said, so you know what I do? So you're
(28:00):
telling me I don't know what you do. I'm telling
you you don't know what I do. And then they go, oh, well,
you can't criticize what we're doing. But here's the other
thing round because I remember when I first started covering
the NBA, I did think, you know, man, I'm criticized
and say, say, Danny Ferry, he was playing for the
Cavs when I when I covered them, my first beat,
(28:24):
the body shape was no. No. But but I'm just saying, like,
you know, I'm thinking, you know, Danny Ferry, he's a
great basketball player, and I'm he's the All American at Duke,
I was a Division three player. How can I criticize him?
But and I'm just throwing him out as it could
have been anybody. But here's the thing. I'm not an
(28:44):
expert at cars. But if I take my card to
the shop and I pay somebody to fix it and
they screw it up, I have a right to go
to them and say, yo, you didn't do a good job.
You're paid to fix my car, and now it's worse
than ever. I don't know a darn thing about cars,
(29:05):
but I can say that you don't have to be
an expert in the field to know whether or not
somebody did it right or wrong? Right, So I just
think to shoot, just get at all. But I can
see that you not shooting them well, right, I know,
I know what good is right, right, I know, I
(29:27):
know three for fourteen ain't a good shooting night. Whether
I remember made a basket in the hip or not.
I know, I know that passed you through out of
bounds with the game. That's a bad pass. Ain't a
good play, right right, call it a hunch, but that
wasn't right. That wasn't what the coach drew up. So
you just get ready with these guys, right, all right?
It is a trash talking Tuesday, eight seven, seven ninety nine.
(29:52):

All right, we were trying to get it in. You're ready.
Let's go, Mason san Diego. You're on the couple of
(30:58):
Fox Sports Radio. Who you trash? Vloody Fevos aka the
Lama Boat longest mouth freezer of all time, worse than
she like Manning. Despite the embarrassing accomplishment, you are the
sole reason the NBA has players flopping. You are the
innovator of this cowardict act. They's inspired numerous NBA players
(31:19):
to flop and disregard their masculinity just to draw blow.
You single handedly aspired numeless prelate players to disregard their
masculinity and to act like wimpy soccer players. You and
all these other players need to relinquish your man card.
Way to go, Vloody. Because of your movement, you were
inspired that phony Paul Pierce to complete flop in the
two days and eight finals against the Lakers. Because of that,
(31:42):
Paul Pierce is an absolute disgrace in Englewood inspire men
to be soft and weak. You both perpetuate the emasculating
trend for men like skinny jeans and company like Gilette
that brainwashed society to make men soft. Here's an idea
you Emos should link up becomes sponsors for Gilette and
you both had done the emasculating movement. And more importantly,
Nick Short every left partic You go ahead, guys in
(32:03):
doors that the book you are warning the proper retire
which in your case, the two of you will be
wearing shirts. Wow, maze lace always comes hard boy. Alright,
here's another guy, Tony in Los Angeles. You're the out
cover of Box Sports Radio. Tony, who are you trash? Hey?
What's up? Chris? What's up? My man? Hey? Look today
(32:26):
I got something real simple for y'all. It's called banana
