It's The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker! Chris and Rob discuss the reports that several 'prominent' black NFL players are considering boycotting games this season in the name of social justice and tell us why they're 100% on-board with the idea, and explain why they're at least a little concerned about the Lakers and Clippers' on-court pysche going forward after reports surfaced that both teams wanted to leave the NBA Bubble earlier this week. Plus, actor/comedian Aries Spears stops by our Celebrity Corner to explain why he thinks the NBA players botched their protest and why he's picking the Lakers to win the NBA title.

every Friday or most Fridays, we do a celebrity Corner

(00:47):
interview with a nine Sports celebrity, and we got a
special one this week. He's been on the show before.
He's a comedian, he's funny and uh, it would be
nice rob to have him on because you know, it'll
lighten up the mood. Obviously a lot of serious topics

(01:08):
going on and appropriately so I mean, this is nothing.
These these topics need to be discussed, but it'll be
nice to have a comedian on who can, uh, you know,
make things a little bit lighter for a segment, don't
you think. Oh yeah, no doubt about it. Sometimes you
need a little levity, sometimes you you love levity. Na

(01:29):
not anymore. I'm strictly like stops now, stop stop is
that rap song? Strictly busy, strictly business EPMD. That's me now,
strictly business. No. I want the old Rob Parker back.
I want the guy who thought he was funny. He
wasn't funny, but he thought he was funny. He stop

(01:52):
about that. Let's get to the show. I can bring
him out. I can bring him out. I can bring
him out. So you can keep fighting it all you want,
but I will bring him out. Trust Trust all right,
As I said, we're coming to you live from the
guy go Fox Sports Radio Studios, and here we go Rob.
We talked about it at the top of the show.

(02:14):
It's worth bringing up again Lebron James along with Colin
Kaepernick in very different ways, but I think they're the
two defining athletes of this generation in terms of social
activism out. I don't know how that's really debatable, and
that's there's somebody that's dramatically slipping my mind and Lebron

(02:38):
there's been reports. He was frustrated, and I've talked to people,
and he was frustrated with what went on with the
Milwaukee Bucks, not that they boycotted the game, but how
they did it without letting the players know. One he
thought they would have been better for them to present
a united front and all of them decide together. And also,

(03:04):
and this is legit, lebron knew also that he's gonna
be the guy answering the questions. He's gonna be the
guy with his name attached to this boycott. And I
robbed and I didn't. I understood that he's the face
of the league. But when I saw on Twitter people
essentially given Lebron credit for the boycott, I thought that

(03:26):
was wrong. And Lebron is, as I said, he and
Colin Kaepernick, and he's done more intangible things, but he
and Colin Kaepernick the defining athletes of this generation in
terms of social justice. But it would not be right
to characterize Lebron James as the leader of this boycott

(03:47):
because it was the Milwaukee Bucks, and it was the
Raptors and the Celtics who talked about it first, and
so but lebron knew that he was going to be
the guy that had to answer questions and he was
gonna have to be the one to answer to it.
And I understand these points, and I think they're very
valid and they make sense. But I stand with the

(04:09):
Bucks that sometimes you just need to act and in
acting Rob as we brought up Rosa Parks didn't have
a plan, Muhammad Ali didn't have a plan. They just
stood unconscious. They stood on principle and it's yes, yes
it doesn't. Everything doesn't have to be buttoned up. And
how it's gonna look. I think if and if this

(04:31):
was the Orlando Magic out of nowhere, Chris, maybe you
know what I mean. But this happened in Wisconsin, didn't
it right? Right? This is right? It having forty miles
away from where is Yeah, that's what That's what I'm
saying in Kenosha. So this makes sense to me. I
wasn't like scratching my head going why is the Orlando

(04:52):
Magic having a boycott? Do you know like that that
when that been? When that been, I would have I
would have respected it, though, no, but it would have been.
But you have questioned, did a little bit would you
have not? I don't know. I don't think I would
have just get what you're saying. I'm just saying, right,
I'm just saying taking the league on it. I understand

(05:14):
why this affected the Bucks and why they decided to
do something. And they weren't looking to be get an
endorsement from everybody, you know. And the other thing, Rob,
they weren't just sitting there twiddling their thumbs. They were
in the locker room on the phone with the attorney
general and the Lieutenant governor of the state. And as
we've said, the players, We've said this before it came out,

(05:40):
but the players have and Lebron and spearheaded this have
gotten the owners to get on board, at least that's
what they're saying at this point with their cause. And
they had released. The league and the players Association released
a joint statement today about how the owners are going
to work with the players on various initiatives, one of them,

(06:01):
rob being that they will use their arenas. The owners
who have control of their arenas will use them as
voting sites, or if they can't quite be sites, if
it's too late past the deadline, they will use them
for some type of voting uh event, when it's time,
When the time is appropriate people right to get people's

(06:25):
getting registered or whatever whatever it may be. But that
is a concrete, tangible thing that came out of this.
And so the Bucks, the owners, as we say at
Mark Lazari, the owners for the Bucks, got the players
on the phone with those officials. That shows you the

(06:46):
power that they have. They could pick up the phone
and all of a sudden, the attorney general. You know
how hard it is to get the attorney general on
the phone? There you go, there you go, yep, Sterling
Brown can't call up the Attorney general and getting no
throw on the phone. And so that was And the
governor of Wisconsin has called for the legislature of the

(07:09):
state to meet on Monday to start looking at this
police reform bill, and the Bucks have made that public
and brought light to that nationally. And hopefully, I'll tell
you what, if that legislature does meet next week and
they pass that bill, that is another very strong tangible thing.

(07:32):
You can point directly to the players and say they
got that accomplished, no doubt. And I think that's what
they were trying to do. And that's why you know,
and I know egos getting away And you're right, Lebron
is the face of the league or whatever. But to me,
I think everything doesn't have to be buttoned up perfectly.
It just doesn't. That's not the way these things happen.

(07:56):
And it's okay, it's okay Lebron wants to figure out something,
do something, and get everybody involved. That's one thing. But
I just I just don't think that Milwaukee had to
and like they did, they did a disservice to the
to the rest of the players or anything. And and
players had a right to do whatever they wanted to do.
You said it before it happened that if that first

(08:17):
game wasn't played, that there's no way the other guys played.
And we don't figured that. We knew that, right, We
got that all right, And Rob, I thought another thing
that got accomplished by the players, the Bucks, and the
entire NBA at this point was that they put the owners,
the networks, the corporate sponsors, the commissioner or notice that

(08:38):
we will go there, we will go there. When you
were married, Rob, I don't know if you ever had,
you know, an argument with your wife. I have an argument,
right you did? I mean when obviously you said you said,
did you did you ever not have an argument, and
that you said, ever not have. But you know, I

(08:58):
shouldn't let me not even use that relationship. But sometimes
you let a person know I'll go there. No, I know,
if you push me too hard, I'll go there. Made
them take you a lot more seriously, right. And so
the Bucks and the NBA players have let the league,

(09:19):
the owners, the commissioner, the corporate sponsors, the networks know
we will go there. And if we go there me
and it walk out, it will have ramifications. Ramifications beyond
the NBA. Major League Baseball might join us, NFL might
join us, and daddy of them all, NHL might join us.

(09:43):
But if football and Russell Wilson, Robs said, I don't
know it was today or yesterday, but he said that
if the Seattle Seahawks had a football game this upcoming
week and tomorrow or Sunday, they wouldn't play. They wouldn't
not play. And then say KWin Barkley, of course, of
the New York Giants, he came out and said, the

(10:06):
players may boycott or sit out one game to make
a statement. So this thing is reverberated. And once you
start doing that in football, Rob, you know you are
hitting big money, big business, and you got some powerful
people's attention. So I'm off for it, and I'll tell
you this all you need to do. That statement too

(10:28):
by Jerry Jones, what he said he was considering the change,
remember last year. Why all of a sudden it's a compromise.
Before you wouldn't wear Cowboys beautiformer all right, now you're coming.
You know why because he already knows Chris he has
no power or right, you won't wear Did he't think
about that? Because most people and Jerry Jones was thinking this,

(10:49):
I'm the owner. You're gonna do what I tell you
if you don't stand, did he say with your hand
on your heart. I don't know if he's went that far,
but if you don't stay for the national anthem, you
won't be wearing a Cowboys uniform. And now, all of
a sudden, there is a compromise because he doesn't want
to look stupid when half of his team kneels down,

(11:10):
all the entire team. Now what Jerry am? I right? Right?
He knows that show he has no power. Tells you
that shows you the power that these players have. And
that's why I applauded what they did so much the
bucks because they said we they recognized their power and

(11:31):
they were willing to use it to wield it on
behalf of the masses of African American people. And again
they're not saying, and we're not saying Jacob Blake was perfect.
They're not saying anyone. You don't even have to say that, right,
that's not even the issue. Yes, he deserved this day
in court. If he was guilty of a crime, or

(11:54):
he was accused of a crime, charged with a crime,
he deserved his day in court. Knife in the car, Hey,
what if he had had a gun? He if he
was a register going down or had a gun, does
that doesn't mean you can shoot it a's legal exactly.
That's the other thing too. They can't even tell you
if the kid recently walk walks up through to buy

(12:15):
the police with a gun, who had just murdered two people,
AK forty seven, right or whatever it was, and and
what happened he was able to walk through. I mean
that as a hero by some. Seriously, Yeah, he's viewed
as a hero by some. And I'm not overstating it.
There's been talking, I mean jokingly, but he could be

(12:36):
be my President, somebody tweeted well known person on that side.
So you know, look, we the players are understanding their
power and that is something that can be valuable in
this fight for black lives, mattering and being treated as
equals in every aspect of American life. All right, let's

(13:01):
see what you guys think. Eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three
sixty nine. What do you think about the NFL players
possibly sitting out a game to make a statement. Would
you like that? Do you think it would be effective?

(13:22):
Would you like to see him sit out even longer?
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. I really want
to hear Rob really wants to hear from you on
this one. We want your opinions, whether you agree with
us or not. Hit us up. The Eye Couple Fox

(14:26):
I'm interested to hear what you guys have to say
about this. What would you think? Because because here's the
thing we asked, you know, Russell Wilson said we wouldn't
be playing football in Seattle this weekend if we had
a game. Sat Kwan Barkley the New York Giants said
we might sit out a game to make a statement,

(14:46):
boycott a game, and a lot of people rob have said, man,
screwed the NBA, we don't need it. Boycott the rest
of the season. Heck, I don't care if you ever
come back. I've seen that on Twitter. I'm sure you
have two. Yeah, we see you feel that way about
the NFL. That's a whole different story. Are you willing

(15:07):
to go there with the NFL? No, you're not. I'm
just gonna be presumptuous and say no, you're not. You're
two racked up into your fantasy leagues. You live for
fantasy football. You're two wrapped up and that you live
for Sundays in the fall. And so you wouldn't. I

(15:31):
don't think you would go there. And that's the power
that these players have if they really, really, really want
to take it there. But what do you think? Maybe
I'm wrong? Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox? What
do you think about the possibility of NFL players boycotting
the game or longer? Let's hear from you, all right,
Justin in Minnesota. You're on the odd couple of Fox

(15:53):
Sports Radio. What's up? Justin? My man Trucker? Justin. First,
I want to tell you you are my absolute favorites
for soft radio. No one better. I love the content
you guys have. Just grat keep it up. You're awesome.

(16:15):
You're welcome. Second, I supported across the board. I'm proud
of what the NBA players are doing, and I hope
the NFL follows suit. Um, we live in twenty twenty
and we are still seeing due process being skipped on
the streets based on the color of a man's skin.

(16:36):
It's bs and people with power, real power and money.
I'm glad to see people doing that. I've been preaching
to my friends about with the real reason Colin Kaepernick
took any many people who were very ignorant of why
he did that, And when I informed them of the
real reason, they gave me some stupid look like really, like, yeah,

(16:57):
that's why. Absolutely, you know, bravo, justin to try to
educate the people around you, because people don't know. Man,
I'm telling you, it's just he gave up his whole
career to help other people who weren't even family members.
Just think about that, how important it was to him
to help others, And and it's too bad it's happening

(17:20):
in daily dollar short for him. But hey, I'm glad
people are doing things, no doubt about it. Let's go
to Luca in Baltimore. You're in the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Luca? What's going on? Guys?
How you go? That's a good name to have right now.

(17:42):
I've been told that a few times, especially on this show. Yes,
keep telling you that. Yeah. Anyway, First things first, I
gotta say I just came from twelve delicias, honey, lemon
pepper wings and and I could not feel better right now, Hey,
Lou Lucas, I already know, I already know that those

(18:05):
were delicious still good. No, but about the protests, I
wanted to say this, Uh, just like what happened with Kaepernick,
and just like what what happened just now with the
Milwaukee Bucks. I think that most loyal fans, which again
includes me, no, what the right thing to do is

(18:28):
now is just a matter of where do we go
from here? You know? Now it's it's not the time
to renegotiate what was right, what was not right? Was
in was the kneeling right or the Bucks pros protests right?
I think most people agree, and I mean the response
was immediate in approval of what the Bucks did. So

(18:52):
now the Lebrons of the world and the Russell Wilsons,
you know, the leaders and Bear Sports League have to
take it from here because they are the ones in
a position to really influence. Because I doubt that Dave
will be unheard unlike a Colin Kaepernick, which you know
he might have been. He wasn't a Tom Brady or no,

(19:13):
I get it, no doubt, no doubt about it, that
that his caschet wasn't as big as if if it
was if Russell Wilson Robb had been had done what
Kaepernick did different, He's been totally different, they'd probably be
a trend. You know, it would have been totally different.
As you said, and Luca, thanks, thank you, Luca. We

(19:33):
brought up Rosa Parks. She didn't lead the movement, No,
she just was one of the triggers. And George Hill.
Nobody's expecting George Hill to lead the movement. That's going
to be Lebron, Chris Paul, guys like that if if
something comes of this, but George Hill just triggered it
in the Milwaukee Bucks. All right, Lex in California, you're

(19:54):
on they couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Lex? Hey,
how's it going? Guys doing good? Man? Um, I kind
of come at this from a different side. I'm a Republican,
and you know what, you know, I agree that police
brutality has gotten out of hand and that things need
to be done about it. Um. I think though that

(20:14):
coming from the Republican side, I know what happens is
when we're trying to fix these things, we need unity
from both from everybody, and when these when these guys
sit out like this, sometimes I think it alienates some
of the people that you need to get together so
that you can fix these things. And I would, I
would personally, Um, I support them if they sit out.

(20:36):
You know, I'm not gonna lie and say that I wouldn't.
I don't. I don't have any problem with Kaepernick kneeling.
But here's what I'd like to see done is, as
you have a voice, you have a lot of power.
How about instead of sitting out, take some time before
the games. Let's do some interviews. Let's start telling stories
so that that people that come from the Republican side,

(20:57):
like me, we know more about what what's going on
because we only read what's in the news, and sometimes
it's not flattering. And I genuinely want to do my
part to help this out. And I think that that
if these guys didn't look because what happens is Republican
people start thinking these guys look like exploded brats, and
I don't. I don't think that that's what they're doing.

(21:19):
I know why they're doing it, but I'm saying to
not alienate that side. Maybe use your platform to speak
to this side so that we can become united and
we can stop this because it's horrible. Hey, Lex, I
want to say two things. First of all, so well said,
appreciate your words. And number two, thank you for calling

(21:41):
in because we want people from both sides. I'm serious.
That is how you solve things. You don't want to
beat the dramas. That's that's been one of the biggest
problems now is every people only want to hear what
they want to hear, and Lex, you just said it. Dude,
I'm serious, and I say that, thank you. Thank you

(22:02):
for calling in. I'm glad you're not afraid to call in,
you know, Chris and I won't attack you. We let
you speak. Thank you, Lex for real. I I second
what Rob said, and um, look, we've got to get
over this. Democrats hate hating Republicans and vice versa, like
you said, and Rob said, we've got to have some

(22:24):
type of unity and friends who are Republican. I'm not
a Republican. I got plenty of friends who are Republicans
and black and white, and I got you know, I'm not.
I'm more of an independent to be honest. But I
got obviously friends who are Democrats as well. And we
can't demonize either side because people have different reasons for

(22:47):
voting the way they vote. But what I would say
is this, lex you you wanted the players to, you know,
bring unity and things like that, and we all want
unity as Americans. But let's keep it real. Are we
getting calls to unity from the highest office in the land.
And I'm gonna be fair, We're not getting calls for

(23:13):
unity from the other side either. Democrats are calling for
it either, and they tend to demonize Republicans at least
as much as vice versa. But but do you know,
I'm gonna tell you that, but it is the responsibility
of the president, the leader, the leader of the country. Country. Yes,
and I'll tell you exactly. They ride from athletes, we

(23:36):
get we can expect it from the president. And it's
hard though when when I remember Trump was asked about, uh,
black people getting shot on a black people by and
by police, and you know what his response was, no empathy,
no sympathy, nothing. White people get shot too, that that
was his response. Right, that's not what we're talking about.

(23:59):
You got to show some empathy and some sympathy. All right,
Will this guy shows comedy. I want Rob to hear this,
because you know Rob, he's an aspiring comedian and he's okay.
He did his little thing, got a few chuckles, got
me to laugh. I retired. I would retired. Really, I'm
gonna retired. Are you serious yet? I'm so you're You're

(24:23):
not gonna do the stand up like on the stage.
I'm retired back no more, Nope, it's just like straightforward
sports CC. Yeah. Look, I'll have you back to normally
next week mid next week. All right, we got Aery
Spears coming up next. That's right, the great actor and comedian.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple

(24:44):
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeart Radio app. Oh no Yo, dj Alex ty Shirt
is in trouble. I'm telling y'all. Dj Alex the Vegan

(25:08):
is in trouble. Rob Parker has Alex Wade this. I'm
not sure. Maybe I don't. I'm not on the tip
of my tongue. When this young dude comes in here
on a funky flashback Friday and drops Parliament Funkadelic knee deep,

(25:37):
knee deep. Oh man, turn that up a little bit. Man,
I've given you your props, heavy one. I'm giving you
your prop. Yes, you you got in your bag tonight.
All right, he almost stood us up, but we finally
got a hold of him. He is a host of

(26:00):
the Spears and Steinberg podcast and on every Spears dot com.
You can check out his upcoming to her dates. It's
time for a celebrity corner. Oh my god, I know
for the odd couple celebrity corners. Man, you had a scale.

(26:22):
What's up, yo? What's going on? Fellas? What you there?
Your boys? Man? I scarked down some Chinese food and
it put me in the item. Well, look, last time
you're on this show, man, you blessed us so much.
You did what Biggie Snoop I think ll L did

(26:43):
you do? Hell? Yeah, you did some tremendous impressions and
it was fabulous. Man. But look, there's a lot going on,
a lot of serious stuff. I know you could make
anything funny. But tell me, man, these brothers, the Milwaukee Buzz,
the rest of the NBA they boycotted. It was historic.

(27:04):
I was so proud, I've said aries, I've never in
my life been more proud of black athletes. What was
your take? Listen, I'm gonna be honest with you, man,
and I want to be kind. I thought it was
historic also for Lebron James to leave the charge. It
was phenomenal. But I'm a little disappointed that they decided

(27:27):
to recant and go back to plan. I think that
it sends a strong message if they would have held
their ground and would have stayed boycotton to take a
two day hiatus and then go back to it, I
don't know if that's a good thing. It's undeniable that
I'll say this quickly, Rob. It's undeniable that had they

(27:50):
continued to boycott, that would have been an incredible message. However,
I think they put the owners on notice and if
something but jumps off, they might do they can do
it again. And they've shown the owners MLB and NFL
might come with us, and you know that would call.
I know, but I'm gonna be honest, fellas would us,

(28:10):
could have, should have, might should have. Listen, we're at
a climate right now where we've already been given messages.
We've been sending out messages. Everybody knows the message loud
and clear enough of messages. It's time for action, and
I think for them to call a two days hiatus
and then go right back to it. I think they

(28:31):
did themselves at disservice. Yeah, we could have agreed to this.
I respect that though, I mean I respect that, Yeah,
I respect, but but I understand what they're doing. And
the problem is if you go out and you would
say that you're gonna wait for change, it might be
four years before you get real changed. So then when
you go back next season, then people say, well they

(28:53):
gave in, nothing really changed. So you put yourself in
a tough spot. And that's why I'm not mad at them.
I think I'm with Chris. They sent a very pointed message,
uh to to to NBA America, to America that we're
not just here to entertain that we're just I don't
want to be that guy, so I want to be

(29:15):
as supportive as I can. But if we're really being honest,
we've been sent in messages since the seventeen hundreds, we've
been praying since the seventeen hundreds. Enough messages. It's time
for action, and what better way than to make America
feel what it respects and knows the most then to
hit them economically, And again I applaud the effort but

(29:40):
I think that black people are tired of effort. We
want results and for them for them to say we're
going to boycott and they're rekind it, I don't know that.
I don't know that that's a good thing. And I
know we'll agree to disagree, But at the end of
the day, we've been screaming, we've been preaching, we've been praying,
we've been marching long enough. It's time for action. And

(30:02):
what better way to hit America than what it knows
the best economically. Ari's okay, so we know you're a
big basketball fan. Well, this put a damper on your
ability to enjoy, you know, the rest of these playoffs.
You know, it's been hard for me to even watch
basketball because I know that because of the Corona, the

(30:23):
Corona situation and the social distancing, we have to play
by a certain set of rules. But at the end
of the day, I always felt like the crowd was
the sixth man when we enjoy the playoffs, and we
enjoyed basketball, we enjoying any sport we like for the
crowd to be involved. And the fact that I got
to look at basketball with cardboard cutouts and people not

(30:45):
really there, I feel like I'm watching a scrimmage. I
don't feel like I'm watching the game. So I understand
they gotta do what they gotta do, but I need
that sixth man, I need that crowd, I need that
home court. Well, who do you still have? Did you
pick the Lakers or or the Clippers to win the title?
I think I think undeniably the Lakers are gonna win it.

(31:07):
It's obvious, undeniably. Really, they can't make threes, they can't defend.
He hasn't been watching you, You really haven't been. But
at the end of the day, listen. But at the
end of the day, what's their record? Well, I mean,
in the bubble, it's not good. Now, I know that's
not indicative of how good they are, but look, the

(31:27):
Lakers have a shot. There's no doubt. I mean, I
think the Lakers. They don't have a shot, but undeniably
he used the word undeniably, were like, who Who's Who's
really gonna beat up the Clippers? The Clippers are deeper
and better. Listen, the Clippers never be quite ask you this.

(31:51):
Let me ask you this. The in in very short
order aries, we may have something that honestly, we may
have never had during our lifetimes, but we arguably had
at different at times in the eighties, and that is
the best player in the world being a white dude,

(32:13):
Luca don Yeah, what are your thoughts on that. I'm
not saying he's there yet, but he could be there
in a couple of years. I think. I think he's
the new incarnation of Larry Bird. Now, whether or not
he lives up to that in terms of rings, that's
another story. But for right now, he's that dude. Yeah,
he gonna it's gonna come down to his rings. It's more. Yeah,

(32:37):
it's more than just it's got, but it's more than that.
You gotta win big You know that Larry Bird didn't
just put up numbers and make big shots. They won championships,
He won MVPs. It was totally You gotta do a
lot more than that. Uh. And that's not to take
anything away from him before we crown the guy, because
if you don't win, people don't look at you the same.

(33:00):
It's hard. It's hard to put a guy on a
pedestal and call him the greatest play in the league
if you don't win. Would you agree with that? Well, Well,
that's what I'm saying, you know, as far as right
now in terms of potential, I mean, who's who's close
to the Larry Bird that him? But if he can
go ahead and get the jewelry on top of it,
then there's no question. Airy Spears actor comedian. He can

(33:25):
check out his podcast Spears in Steinberg and also go
to airy Spears dot com for his upcoming tour dates.
He's joining us on the Eye Couple. As I've said,
one of the reasons I was so proud of the players,
and I think it's one of the reasons that you
wanted them to continue to boycott, is that African American
athletes have incredible power in American society because they are

(33:49):
absolutely irreplaceable. And I have said the same thing. It's
to a lesser degree, but similar African Americans also have
good dominance in popular culture through entertainment and music in particular.
Do you think our entertainers are rappers? They what should

(34:11):
they be doing in this moment to kind of, you know,
pushing the progress injustice? Listen, man, I know you guys
have a delicate position, and I don't ever want to
undermine or disrespect your position, But I'm not sitting in
the seats that you guys are sitting in. So I'm
gonna say the same thing I said when I posted
on Instagram. Imagine if every major player in every major

(34:35):
sport in America, every prominent athlete, every prominent actor, comedian mogul,
from Tyler Perry to Oprah Winfrey, from Kevin Hart to
Mike Epps, from Jay Z to Beyonce. We could go
on and on and on. The truth of the matter
is this, Black people have always had their finger in
the pulse on American pop culture and American livelihood. America

(34:59):
need us. We dominate every aspect of entertainment. But at
some point when do we decide dancing, singing, and rapping
enough is enough. Let's put our money where our mouth
is and make may America respect us what it knows
best and for what's strong is best, which is economics.

(35:20):
At the end of the day, we can sing, we
can dance, we can rap, with a finger in the
pulse on American culture. If we don't do what we
gotta do to gain the respect from America from an
economic standpoint, and from a change standpoint, and from a
legislation standpoint, then what are we really doing? When I
saw Doc Rivers say what he said when he said,

(35:42):
we love America, why won't it love us back? At
this point, love is great, but respect is better. We
don't have to have love. If we can get it both,
that's great, but you gotta respect us. And if all
we want to keep doing it's singing, dancing, rapping, acting
and playing ball and not getting Americans respect, we are

(36:03):
doing it just service to ourselves, and we are making
people like Laura Ingram correct shut up and dribble. It's
time to stop dribbling and time to make our voice.
Have heard yo preach, preach. You ain't ever got an
apologize for saying that on the odd couple. I'm just
I'm just listen. I've had I've argued with people on

(36:27):
social media who said, how does stop playing basketball or
sports stop racists from being racist. Let's be honest. Millionaires
and billionaires hang out with millionaires and billionaires. They all
eat at the same dinner table and the same owners
that are responsible for paying these politicians campaigns and eating

(36:49):
at those five five thousand dollars to plate dinners. They
all hang out together. They all know each other. So
unless these athletes are willing to do what they gotta
do for the betterment of our son and daughters to go. Look,
we want you to talk to your billionaire boys club
and put changes in effect for the betterment in the
future and the safety of our black men and women,

(37:10):
boys and girls. Then we're not playing. We're not playing.
We could play. Great stuff, man, Thank you so much.
Absolutely running out of time. Yeah, great stuff man. We
appreciate that. All right, brother again, please support my podcast.

(37:30):

get my ice cuborn. Yeah, yeah, Yo, were good. That
was dope. That was dope. He spoke powerful words there,
Rob indeed, no doubt about it. Yeah yeah, all right.

a great weekend. Be safe, wear your masks, enjoy tomorrow

(37:57):
Sunday the return of the NBA. I can't wait to
see the Rockets in the thunder. Russell Westbrook is back.
Hey did did the brief Did the boycott give Lucas
ankle chance to heal up? They got something for the Clippers.
We'll see, But I think it's gonna be a great weekend.
