I am at Chris Underscore, Bruce Ard on Twitter, Chris
Brusar sixty eight on The Graham, and we will be
joined at the bottom of this hour by our man,
the Hall of Fame defensive back, one of the best

(01:08):
ever doing Rod Woodson. That's always fun, so keep it
locked there. But before you know, we get into the
NFL talk with Rod and as this game the biggest
game thus far of the season. Week three, two best
teams in the AFC, if not the entire NFL. The

(01:30):
Kansas City Chiefs defended Super Bowl champions visiting the Baltimore Ravens.
And this one, folks, is going to be exciting, as
TiO and many others would say, get your popcorn ready,
and we'll keep you updated on that throughout the show.
But let's go to the NBA ride. Where As I
said at the top of the show, we had some

(01:52):
big news today. Doc Rivers, the coach of the Los
Angeles Clippers, was let go. The official statement said it
was a mutual parting of the ways, but Rob, you
know how this works. He was fired. And seven seasons
with the Clippers, Doc is generally viewed as one of
the top coaches in the league. And some are wondering,

(02:15):
you know, was this justified? Rob? It was justified. I'm sorry.
I like Doc Rivers like everybody else, but I mean,
he's been there seven years with championship talent two different regimes.
First Chris Ball, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan and some

(02:38):
nice role players, shooters like JJ Reddick and you know,
guys like that, and he doesn't get them past the
second round, blows a three one lead to Houston in
the playoffs in twenty fifteen, and then this year, I mean,
come on you, and I thought, like probably more than
half of the basketball world, that the Clippers were going

(03:02):
to win the championship and Kawhi, Leonard, Paul George, all
the role players, and they don't get past the second round.
And Rob, I've had a lot of faith in Doc
when he first went to the Clippers that year. That
first year, I predicted they win the championship. And then

(03:22):
this year, of course I predicted they win the championship,
and of course both times they didn't even get to
the conference finals. He was brought in. He replaced Vinnie
Del Negro Vinny. The knock on Vinny was they couldn't
get past the second round and because he won game
one fifty six regular season games, Vinny and Doc was
brought in to get them further, and obviously he didn't.

(03:45):
So this is very justify Rob. I think they made
the right move. I don't think you could blame Steve
Baumer at all. First of all, when somebody buys a franchise,
they have a right to clean house and get rid
of everybody who was not hired by them, right They
took over a situation and he kept Doc on. He

(04:06):
went out, he got Doc everything that you would need
to win a championship. It didn't happen. And if you
can't get fired after three one choke, then I don't
know what you can get fired off. I mean, it's
just that simple. And so people will say Steve Kert
choked and they were up three to one, but they
had already won a championship. That buys you time, had

(04:30):
Steve Kerr Chris, had they not won and they won
seventy three games and didn't win and choked the three
one lead of you know in the finals that never won,
Steve Kerr wouldn't still be coaching that team. I guarantee
you that well. And to your point, I mean Steve Kerr,
like you said, had won a championship, he had already

(04:50):
won three like Doc hasn't gotten the pass the second round.
As you said, you had everything to compete for a championship.
I'm not saying he had to win the champion and ship,
but you could have gotten to the finals. You know,
if Doc had gotten to one or two finals with
either the Chris Paul group or this group. I know
this was the first year together, it'd be a different story.

(05:13):
They have not gotten past the second round. And I
know there were some injuries in fairness to Doc, do
you know Blake's hurt here, Chris is hurt there. But
still they blew several big time leads. Doc's the only
coach in history, Robbie, you know the first time, well
you were in Detroit. He's blown three three one leads.

(05:36):
He's the only coach in NBA history to do that.
That's always the great story about Tracy McGrady, who also
couldn't right get to get out of the second round, right,
do you ever get No, he never won a series.
He never won And that was the first year that
went from three out of five to four out of seven,

(05:56):
and that in that playoff, and so they beat the
Pistons three of the first four games, and Tracy McGrady
talking to the media says, boy, it's great to get
out of the first round and move on. Were you
there when he was He was talking to the Orlando
writers and they were like, what what are you talking about?

(06:20):
They said, no, no, no, it's it's four out of seven.
You gotta win one more game. And he looked and
said what he thirty, had one and moved on. Ye
and the Pistons came back and one of the next
three games, and then your rest is is because Rob
they lost nineteen straight. Doc started I think they started

(06:41):
one in ten the next season and Doc was fired
in Orlando. Now Doc had done a good job in Orlando.
And I'll tell you what, there's kind of a pattern
with Doc. When he was in Orlando, they didn't have much,
you know, talent, and they had Tracy McGrady and that
was about it. Because remember Grant Hill was hurt and

(07:03):
Doc they they they were good, you know, they the
playoffs they kind of reviewed. Is that kind of overachieving
little Enginette could, right. And then with the Clippers the
only two years he didn't underachiever and actually overachieved Drive
was two years ago. Remember you were so high on him, No, last, last,

(07:26):
last when they took Golden State to six, and I
said that was yep. And the year before too was
kind of similar, you know, once they lost Chris Paul.
So you wonder, now, of course he won the championship
with the team and in Boston with that away from him,

(07:50):
he did a great job right here. I mean the
bring you. Look, we saw it with Miami and Dallas.
I'm sorry with Miami with their first year when Lebron
trying to put together and when you win it the
first year. This year couldn't win the Clippers couldn't win
it the first year. It is I mean even last year.
I know Lebron was hurt, but they didn't they didn't
make the playoffs. The Lakers coming together first time, so

(08:12):
it is tough. So Doc should definitely be credited with
that first championship, which was great. I went with that
team overseas to training camp in Rome and other parts
of Europe, and he did a great job. You know,
he coined. He had him saying U boom two, which
was an African word, give me together or something like that,
but yeah, we all do it together, something like that.

(08:34):
But he he did a great job. But I always
thought that that team left a championship on the table,
rob because they you know, they kept the Big three
together for a few years and never won another ring. Now,
I had tended to blame Danny Danny Ainge for trading
Kendrick Perkins. Remember that that team never with Kendrick Perkins,

(08:57):
they never lost the series. I know Kendrick wasn't like
some superstar are, but it's chemistry, and I thought that
was a shaky trade. But they still you know, they
didn't win another championship, but it'll be interesting. Here's the thing, right, well,
two things to talk about. Who do you think should
be the replacement? And then you know there's already reports

(09:18):
that Philadelphia and New Orleans, who have coaching vacancies, have
reached out to Doc already. I'm look, if I'm Philadelphia,
it's it's championship or bust. I don't think I'm going
for Doc right away. I'm because Doc has shown like
he had two really great regimes with the Clippers for
seven years and didn't get anything done. So I don't

(09:40):
think i'd go that route. I'm not just I wouldn't
say that you shouldn't make a phone call just to
hear where it's Chris. You know what I'm saying, a
phone call of you? It should due diligence. Do you
know what I'm saying? Seriously, that's all because if you
don't make that just let's put it out there. You
don't make that phone call and you're Philadelphia and New

(10:04):
Orleans hires Doc Rivers and they get to the NBA Championship.
Do you know what I mean? Like you, No, I'm
just saying you didn't do your due diligence. It doesn't
mean that you have to hire them. I made a call.
I didn't like where his head was. Do you know
what I mean? And you can justify That's all I'm saying. So,
but I'm with you. I think it's hard if you're
a general manager to be able to introduce Doc Rivers

(10:27):
at a press conference. I just not coming off of
what just went down. I think that's a hard sell
to a fan base to bring in a guy who
had this team in roster and expectations and it blew
up in his face. Not like you just got swept
and you weren't good enough. You're up three one and
you chose well, that's the thing. That's the difference. There's

(10:49):
a difference if they beating them, just beating them out right.
You couldn't knock at Denver's a good team, Chris. They
were the number three seed. It ain't like that they
weren't good. They were better exactly, or maybe they had
more time the year before they lost in Game seven.
You remember trying to get to the Western Conference Final.
You could have made a case. But to be up

(11:11):
three to one and not be able to win a
game with the talent and the roster you have, that's
gotta go on the coach. And yes, the players didn't
play well, but you can't have it both ways. Had
Doc won, he would have got his flowers. He would
would have and he would have been the first coach
to get them to the Clippers right to the Western

(11:31):
Conference Finals, and that would be on his record. That
would be a star, that would have sealed his Hall
of Fame candidate. He may get in anyway, but he um, yeah,
I hear you on that, And I got be honest.
I thought Doc got out coached against Dallas by Rick Carlisle.
And I thought he got out coached against Denver with

(11:52):
Mike Malone. So we'll see. I mean, Doc, I would
imagine he'll be in the broadcast booth if he's not coaching.
He was a great podcaster when he wasn't coaching, so um,
he'll he'll be fine. The question of replacement, now, look,
I hate to do this because I always throw out
Mark Jackson, rob I mean, for many of these jobs,
I tend to throw out Mark Jackson because I think

(12:13):
he's a good coach. I think he did a good
job in Golden State. Now, Steve Kurt admittedly took him
to a whole nother level, but doctor or Mark did
do a pretty good job there before Kerr. But I
don't think he's gonna get it. He doesn't even get
an interview cuse he No, he's totally like, I can't
get hired. If it's unfortunate, I think it'll be. It

(12:35):
should probably be Tyler. Look, nobody knows who's you know
what I mean? Like and Tyl Lou did a good
job in Cleveland. They obviously had Lebron okay, but so
did Eric Spoister. Eric Spoister had more talent than t
Lou had in Cleveland, and Spoister was victimized by the
same thing Rob. A lot of people didn't think he

(12:55):
was all that great, including me. I thought he was
solid when he had Lebron and those guys they won
two or four. That's not spectacular, right, that's considering the talent.
But the talent they had that. But now he's proving
that he really is a good coach. Obviously as many
years later, but Ty lu. I think I would be

(13:16):
fine if Tyler gets it. Phil Jackson's name was thrown
out there by Chris Mannix. I believe, not not as
a report like this is in the works, but just
what about Phil? But I don't I don't know that
Phil could even physically do it. Phil can even that
they said he couldn't even travel, He can't travel. I mean,
come on, man, I just that that makes no sense.

(13:37):
Did you see what I just sent you that Mark
Spears tweeted out, Chris, did you together at all? Let
me go ahead and tell me that that basically, Um,
the NBA. I'm just curious. Um, he's tweeted out that
at black NBA coaches remained in the NBA bickerstaff. Uh,
Dwayne Casey, Lloyd Piers at Monty Williams black coaches fired

(14:00):
in twenty twenty, Doc Nate McMillan, Alvin Gentry black coaches
hired in twenty twenty. Zero NBA players seventy five percent block.
That's surprising that no black coaches have been hired. Yeah. Um,
I was a little surprised that Chicago went with Billy Donovan. Um. Look,

(14:20):
there was a point, Rob, I think they had thirteen
Black coaches in the NBA out of thirty one. I
think that was a high mark. Yeah, but obviously it's
a low down. You know. I don't think anything untoward
is in the world. I'm just selling analytics. There's a
lot of guys that feel like the whole analytics revolution. Well,
that's in the front office to push all those guys out.

(14:42):
Who played all right? It is the Couple of Fox

powers out, so we're gonna have to fly. Yes. I
don't know what's going on over there, so we'll just
keep rolling. Hopefully they'll restore the power there and Chris

(16:12):
will be able to rejoin us. I'll telephone number eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox. I do want to
send a quick odd couple shout out to Bradby in
where's Bradby? I just in Austin, Texas. Bradby deserves some credit.
He told me months and months ago that the heat

(16:32):
would make it to the NBA finals. So Bradby, my man,
he was right, all right, we're gonna take your calls now.
And then Stock River story fired. Did the Clippers do
the right thing? Did they owe him another year with
this group? You know? Is one year enough to put
together all these different parts and try to win a championship.
Where are you on this Let's kick it off with

(16:55):
Marcel in Mississippi. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up? And what's up? Buncle Rob Man.
I hope everybody blessed up the odd couple. I hope
get everything together. But yeah, thank yeah, I believe. I
believe the firing was justified. To be honest, Um, Doc
is in the books for two bad things, you know,
going to three one league. I don't really think he

(17:18):
developed his players like he should have, like year over year,
I think they remained consistent. It's not fell off somewhere.
And I think he had a better team and you
know that first sent with the Clippers than he did
in Boston and he never got out the second round. Um,
And I don't know, I just I just don't feel like, uh,
you know, I think he needs somebody to take him

(17:40):
over to talk, you know, a new coach. But it's
gonna be hard to replace them, no, no doubt about it.
Because there aren't guys Marcel with a championship in their
back pocket. You can say whatever you want. There's very
few guys who are still young enough to coach. Everybody
else holding a championship trophies eighty years old or can't
fly or can travel. So Doc Rivers is gonna be

(18:04):
one of those guys with a championship trophy without a
job for right now. Joseph in Virginia, you're on the
odd couple Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Joseph, Good evening.
Shout out to the fellows on the board. Rob. I
had to say this is it's kind of like the
nutty Professor, and I don't mean the original one that
you were around for with Jerry Lewis. What do you
know about Jerry Lewis? What do you know? But I'm

(18:27):
talking about the world with Eddie Murphy. You remember Professor
Clump and Buddy Love. Yes, I just feel like the
Los Angeles Lakers are always gonna be Buddy Love and
the Clippers will always be that little brother downstairs in
the bad Yeah. But I'm gonna say this, Joseph, I
get that point about what you're saying, but that had
nothing to do with why they lost. And it's always

(18:50):
gonna be a Laker town. I get that. It's just
like New York with the Yankees and I get that
those things never really change. You'll have your day in
the song like the Mets had for some years, but
they never fully breakthrough and become the best, the team
that everybody looks to. But that didn't wouldn't have stopped
him from winning a championship this year. I don't know

(19:13):
about that, but logically it makes sense because they did
clean house and he is the only one that was
left over from that past regime. Yes, And that's the
other part that you have to understand, is is uh,
you know, they could have just cleaned everybody out and
they let Doc stay. So appreciate the call. Joseph Robert
in South Carolina. You're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Robert? Hey, what's up? Rob? Tail

(19:36):
Chris to get it together over there, man, I know
it ain't his bottom, you know what you know? You
know what I think happened is uh, Dak Prescott kicked
the plug out after he threw another pick. I'm sorry
he probably did, but check it out, Rob. I think
Doc tries to straddle the fence too much. Man. I
think what that group of players needed was somebody that

(19:57):
was gonna be hard on them and somebody that I'm
gonna let them cut corners and miss practice and miss
games for just that. In the third, I think Doc
tries to be a player's coach too much, and when
it's time to dig in somebody, he can't really do it.
Those time time outs that they were taken when the
cook when the Nuggets were running, wound on him and

(20:17):
they didn't have an answer for him. If you saw Doctor,
and I'm not a big Skiff Bayliss fan, but I'm
gonna remind myself of something the Skiff always said about
Jason Garrett coach Clepp. Oh, you saw Doc Door was clapping,
checking his head, like, yeah, we get it together. No,
it was time for you to jump in somebody then,
but you can't because you're always friends with him and
you're always the players coach. He needs to change his

(20:39):
approach when he had teams of that couch. He needs
to change his approach period. I think that's fair. I
can't argue with the kid. We squeeze in Thomas in Iowa. Thomas,
you gotta make it quick. You're on the odd couple
of Fox Radio. All right, Hey, how you doing man?
Your show? Thank you? Hey? Just bringing them up till
what if Lebron James got them fired, the jealousy of

(21:01):
perhaps a parade or another banner being raised up in
the stable center. Nah, I don't think so. Thanks for
the call, Thomas. They lost for one reason. They were
supposed to win and at least get to the finals
with the roster they put together. It didn't happen. I mean,
if you can't get fired on a three one, choked dude,
you can never get fired. All right, we've got a

(21:22):
Hall of Famer in the building. Our man Rod Woodson
joins the show next. Fox Sports Radio has the best
sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our
shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com and within the
iHeart Radio app. Search f SR to listen live. We're
coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
It's easy to say fifteen percent of more on your

(21:43):
car insurance. Go to Geico dot com or call eight
hundred nine four seven Auto. The only hard part is
figuring out which way is easier. All right, let's welcome
into Hall of Fame dB. Yes, one of our favorites,
and yes he has theme music. That's right. Woodson? What's up? Rod?
My brother? Everything is good. Chris got a little power

(22:06):
out of yet at the house and Joysey, so I'm
rolling solo with you. It's all good. It's good. He
has to pay his bills, man, you know that. That's
what's happened. Chris is so cheap. He was trying to
get away without not paying it. But but brod uh, obviously, Um,
the big game that's happening right now, the Ravens and

(22:29):
the Chiefs. Um, it's not gonna determine who's gonna win
come playoff time in the AFC Championship game. But it
is a good measurement stick, isn't it this early in
the year, to see who's doing what? Yeah, I like
to see. You know, can Kansas City slow down the
running game of you know the Baltimore is last year?

(22:51):
Remember last year they rushed for two hundred nine yards
and heck in the first series they rushed for sixty
five yards. Over sixty yards. Now they kicked the field
goal and then Kansas City marked right back down the
field score. But then the kicker just fist extra point
and he's on my fantasy team. Dog gone, I'll look
at that. That just cost you big time. It did,

(23:15):
it did but you know they they're two good teams. Um.
You know, they're both gonna be in the postseason. We
know that, Um you know. It's just it's really fun
to see how they are going to morph this year
and change, you know. And my thing is, especially with
the Baltimore Ravens, is that And I don't think they're

(23:35):
gonna be measured. I don't think the marg's gonna be
measured by what he does during the regular season, but
he will be measured by what he does in the postseason.
Because we know his rookie year, he'd struggled in the
game they lost. Last year, he struggled in the game
they lost in the division around. So he's gonna be
the one that everybody's gonna be looking at once the
postseason gets there. They're gonna play good football. I think

(23:56):
throughout the whole year both of these teams, no doubt
about talk about not playing good football. We need to
talk about the Atlanta Falcons again. And Dan Quinn should
have been fired after the game back to back collapses
at home. I mean, let's just be honest, Rod. They
got outscored twenty to nothing in the fourth quarter in

(24:18):
the game that they had in their hands and collapsed again,
lost again the all and three, and he's still the coach.
I mean, what do you make of the Falcons and
what's going on? Don't I still don't think they're the
worst team in the National Football LEA The worst team
the National Football League resides in New York, the Jets
and Giants. Is MENI mighty moe on that one. I

(24:43):
think the Jets are the worst team in the NFL
right now, you know, because you know, at least Atlanta
showed some fight even though they lost those two these
last two games when they were leading by substant amount
of points. And I am surprised. I am surprised that
we haven't heard more rumors about Dan Quinn. And we
say that because I say that only because he's a
defensive coach, and it's the defenses being like you know,

(25:08):
in the second half, is falling apart and giving up
all the points. That's where I'm disappointed, because at least
I would think he's gonna say, man, forget all that,
right he I'm taking the same back over. I'm a
defense coordinator, but I'm gonna get fired. I'm gonna get
fired on my watch, no doubt. I agree with you.
Our guest is Hall of Fame dB rod Woodson here

(25:30):
on the Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio. And of
course it was Nick Foles who came out of the
bullpen for the Bears, replaced Mitch Trubisky. And this is
where Nick Foles excels. Rob When you give him the
keys to the car as the starter, he always seems
to crash when he comes off the bench and it

(25:51):
doesn't seem to be the same kind of pressure on him.
He excels. Does this make any sense? No, you know,
but you know, look at you know, Nick, I put
Nick Foles and I put the Beard of Wonder in
the same category, right Fitzpatrick. For um, they're very similar
where once they get the keys to the ring, they'll

(26:13):
have some really good games and then man, they will
have some games like what were you guys doing? Um?
You know, but you know, going back to Trubisky, you know,
Naggie just I don't understand how he thought that he
saw this quarterback was better than Nick going into this
whole thing. Now, he's obviously he's more athletic, but he's

(26:36):
not a better leader. You can't tell me he's a
better leader. And you can't go back to him. Now.
If you go now, you lose, You don't. You don't
only lose the team, You're gonna lose Chicago. I mean,
the whole city's gonna be against you. So, you know,
I just think that it's gonna be. This is this
is Nick's um team here on out. Man. You know, hopefully,

(26:59):
you know they can keep playing well with him being
at the helms. They got a solid defense and get
some wins. What do you make of the Cowboys one
and two start? The only win, of course, was the
gift from Atlanta. They could easily be owing three. They
can't seem to be the good teams, the opper echelon teams.

(27:19):
But is there something broken with that defense? What's going on?
Mike McCarthy starting Dallas has not been pretty? No? But
you know, you know who's the best defensive player they
have right now? Who's that? Aldon Smith? Yes? And he
hadn't played in five years, right, he hasn't played in
five years? And I'm telling you, man, this guy and

(27:40):
I'm watching him playing, I'm going this is the This
is their best player on their football team, not Jalen Smith,
who my homeboy from Fort Wayne, Indiana like I am.
But Alvin Smith he is. He's causing havoc. And once
he really gets to the legs under leathe, I think
he's gonna play so much better. But you gotta understand,

(28:00):
this is a new system for this whole team. So
they're learning all new stuff, all new lingo on a
whole new defense. Everybody's trying to figure this thing out
in Dallas. And I always say the first time around
when teams, when coaches are changed and they have a
new system offensive, defensively, special teams, at times teams struggle

(28:24):
and they struggle early because they're trying to figure out
especially remember no off season, a small training camp, no preseason,
so they're trying to figure the po thing out on
the run at one hundred miles an hour, no doubt.
Hey what everybody was ready to crown Kyler Murray and
the Arizona Cardinals. They were off to a two old start.

(28:46):
The Lions come to town, losers of eleven in a row,
piece of cake, right, all they have to do is
carve up the Lion secondary and they got another win
and off to a three and old start. And then
Kyler Murray throws three picks in the line win the game.
That's not only not only do you throw three picks,
but he only had what thirty nine yards rushing? Yep,

(29:09):
that's the key. I know, the picks. You know, obviously
you can't throw picks and turnovers here and lose football games.
But not allowing him to rush for a lot of
yards in the unscheduled places he got to. He was
killing me first two teams doing that, taking that away
from making him one dimensional and seem obviously you know,

(29:30):
the advantage went to the defense this week for them
and the Patriots, who easily could be three and oh
they were at the one yard line of Seattle. Couldn't
get in with Cam Newton. And if you give me
that opportunity ten other times, nine out of ten he
would make it in the end zone. Am I right?
And win that game. And then they come out this

(29:52):
week and put up a bunch of points and win.
How good are the Patriots and Cam Newton? Yeah, because
we were all trying to figure out, you know, what
would the you know, Las Vegas Raiders? Are they that good?
They played really good, but then they met a team
that played very similar to what they do, kind of
smash mouth. You know, hit you in the mouth, you

(30:13):
play the run between the tackles. They had this big
quarterback and one thing I think Cam has surprised a
lot of people doing well right now is throwing the
ball down the field. Julian had a man. He's been
hitting him on the target and normally do you know
how to man you know the underneath route runner. But

(30:33):
he's taking some deep shots and Cam has played extremely well.
And I still don't understand how Cam Newton was on
the streets for as long as he was on the
streets before the New England Patris came in town and
gave him a contract. It was total disrespect and Rod
you know it and I know it. People were judging
him when he was hurt and couldn't throw the football

(30:56):
and everybody knew he was hurt and he just needed
to get healthy, and I think they did them wrong.
I'm happy for his success because we all know the
guy can play. Absolutely. He can't tell me there's thirty
two better quarterbacks in Cam Newton and the National Football League.
That's a lie. And it's just you know, and I know,
you know, there's a negative connotation. Maybe the way he
dresses and how brash he is and how going he is,

(31:19):
but he's he's a good teammate. I've never heard anything
negative about from his teammates about him in the locker room.
On the playing field, obviously, when he was younger, you know,
he didn't play well. He showed his frustrations on the
sideline at times, but he grew out of that and

(31:40):
I'm glad he got the opportunity with Bill Belichick and
he's making the most of it right now. All right.
His name is Rod Woodson. He is the Hall of
Famer here on the Odd Couple. He's a bad man,
no doubt about it. All right, Thank you, appreciate you.
Thanks for the knowledge. I appreciate you, all right, all right,

(32:01):
all right. It was a rough night for all the
Aaron Rodgers haters out there, including Chris Bussard. That's why
I kicked the plug out at his house. We'll get
into that next. It's the odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio.

(33:06):
Brussard in a little power outage in Jersey, so we
doubt we'll get Chris back before the end of the show,
which is good. He'll be back tomorrow. I'll get that
sorted out. But we are talking about the Green Bay
Packers who moved to three and oh big win in
New Orleans, Rob g I don't think they had one

(33:27):
in New Orleans since nineteen seventy five or something like that.
Wasn't it some been a minute. It's not only been
a minute, It's been a long time. And Aaron Rodgers
three touchdowns, no picks, and the team doesn't have a
turnover three and oh there averaging forty points a game. Now,
I picked Aaron Rodgers as as my MVP candidate. Obviously,

(33:52):
Russell Wilson's having a great start, even better one. But
I picked Aaron Rodgers. I thought he would come out
and play well. But I gotta get Rob g a
little bit of credit. He picked the Packers to go
to the Super Bowl and so far. Are you surprised
where they are? I'm sure you didn't think they'd be
three and oh and balling out like this. Wow. Let

(34:12):
me say I picked them to win the Super Bowl?
Did you to it? Okay? Packers over Chiefs, documented on
Twitter on September ninth. No, no, no, that's a budget
ball pick. Even still, I didn't expect I expect them
to be good. I did not expect them to be
dropping forty points a game or even thirty seven points
without Davante Adams in the lineup, which is incredible, all right,

(34:32):
Like he's their best player. Uh, he's Aaron Rodgers go
to guy. So you would think, okay, maybe they only
score twenty eight or you know what I mean, they'd
have a drop off. What is Aaron Rodgers? Rob guh?
He made a throw? Did you see the one? What
was it? Like a fifty yard or and he just
kind of like it looked like off his back foot

(34:54):
just kind of lofted it up high in the air
and it went for about fifty summard yards. He's really
looked good. Yeah. That's one issue that I have with
all these people, especially the young people on Twitter, guys
my age, when they see these Pat Mahomes throws, like,
oh my gosh, I've never seen anyone make a throw
like that. It's like, I mean, I got some YouTube
on Aaron Rodgers. He does this every three or four games,

(35:16):
either throws like this. He even did the no look pass.
I don't know if he saw this one too, rob
and that was a trending on Twitter last night. Oh yeah,
well he's looking the other way and somebody put on there,
Oh we call him Aaron Mahomes. I'm like, get out
of here, man like doing that before? Right, come on now.
I mean I will say this though, you know, there
was a stark contrast last night between what Aaron Rodgers

(35:38):
looked like and what Drew Brees looked like, because both
guys are very reliant on their one receiver. I mean
I think that Davante Adams and Michael Thomas get something
like seventy percent of the talk in their defense, and
so you saw without Michael Thomas. The last two games
that Drew Brees is just captain check down, nothing further
than four yards, and so it's a lot of Alvin

(35:58):
Camar out of the back. And if it wasn't for Kamara,
I mean he turned those little dinkin dunks into twenty
five yard gains, you know what I mean, he turned one.
He turned a seven yard pass into a fifty three
yard touchdown, right, And what Aaron Rodgers was doing is
not say he wasn't throwing it to his running backs
at all, because Aaron Jones had a couple of catches,

(36:19):
but he was stretching the field with Alan Lazard and
uh and who was that tight end who caught his
first ball of his career exactly and then Marcedes Lewis
back from the dead catching touchdowns. I mean, I mean,
we had David Gascon here in the updates. He was
I'm sure you were as a pressed as we all were, Dave,
with what you saw for Aaron Rodgers, I am. I
think the biggest thing that people haven't talked about, and Rob,

(36:39):
I know you've acknowledged a couple of times, is that
Rogers is doing this on the opposing team's fields, and
they don't have home field advantage anymore, right, so you're
able to you know, obviously, if you're at Lambeau the
silent count, you don't need it. But when you're on
the road, especially in New Orleans and in Minnesota, you
would need the silent count. And now he doesn't need

(37:00):
that anymore. So he's able to audible with the live scrimmage,
make his checks if he needs, with his offensive line
as wide receivers, and it's perfect for him. You get
sixteen games like that, I mean, what more can you
ask for? Because typically they're going six and two, seven
to one, eight no at home and you want to
play five dall on the road? Right now, you can
do this, you know, the same thing on the road.
It's a little bit different from a beast. And and

(37:22):
when you look at it, you know them winning uh
because they didn't they win in Minnesota and Minnesota, but
they won in Minnesota and they and they won uh
in New Orleans and and also think about this, guys,
as far as tiebreakers, they talked about it last night
on the game. If they have the same record as
New Orleans, guess who's going to get the tiebreaker? The Packers.

(37:45):
So that's a huge game, uh for for taking on
a team that you expect to be in your class
and expect to have a chance at um at uh
you know, having the top seed in the conference. So
it's and and the floora give him credit. He's only
been here, what a year and a few games, and
look at where he is in his record. He has

(38:06):
the best record of any Packer head coach to start,
I think Vince Lombardi coach there as well, right something
like right, robin, You know, through the first three games,
the Packers are number one scoring offense, number two in
total offense, played one of those games without their only
big time wide receiver. All amazing stats. All right, Coming
up next the final hour of the program, Yes Folds,

(38:29):
we'll talk about Dak all that it is the odd couple.
