social media. Robb is at Rob Parker FS one on
both Twitter and Instagram, and that's where you can tweet
him your TV theme show Thursday request. I'm at Chris
Underscore Bruce Hard on Twitter Chris Bruce R sixty eight
on The Graham Rock. Quickly, before we get into this,
(01:09):
uh some of this Kyrie Irving stuff. The Jets playing
the night they get Denver, you pick the Jets to
win the AFC East. What do you expecting the night
or they done? I mean this is gonna turn this
thing around or this is their season right here? That's
all you can really, I mean, you got if you
can't be Denver at home, and Denver has been there,
(01:30):
then they just switched the change their quarterback as well
out their third stringer Rippy. I mean, if you can't
win this game, Kristen, I don't know what game you're
gonna win. So I believe it or not. I put
money down on the Jets of Vegas today? Did you
or they favorite? I didn't even see the line. I
think it's, uh, what is it now? They should be favored,
(01:51):
They're they're not favorite at home? Yeah, but I think
it's minus one, you know, Okay, Denver's getting one, right,
I think that that's the line. But yeah, I mean
I'm not that excited about that game, are you? No? No? Um?
You know what's interesting. I don't know if you saw
the quote by Juju Smith Schuster, obviously receiver for the Steelers.
(02:12):
He said, if if Darnald, if they if the Jets
don't want to say him, Darnall will take him. I'm
not saying to replace Roethlisberger, but I gotta be honest.
If Darnald went to Pittsburgh whenever Roethlisberger is done. I
actually think he'd be good there. But you know what
it's like to me, It's like Jared Goff, Chris, do
(02:36):
you remember watching him in his first Gears? True, I
thought he couldn't play, didn't you? I thought he could played.
He was a bust. Everybody was saying he was a bust.
And then all of a sudden they got the right
uh coach and pieces around him, and he turned took
him to the super Bowl. I know they didn't win,
but he took him to the super Bowl, and Chris,
(02:57):
if I remember correctly, then the Rams had like the
fifth best offense in the history of the NFL. Like that.
It was a light show, am I right? So you
gotta be careful. Is it that he can't play? You know,
Adam Gaze, Chris, he never should have got that job.
He's in a bad spot. So so I don't know.
(03:18):
If they can't win that game, I think they'll go
on in sixteen. Yes, if they can't win to night, yes,
I can't see the winning again unless they fired Gays.
You know what they might now they're saying, they're saying
they won't, but yeah, it doesn't make it. I gotta
be honest. Obviously, his time he's gonna be short in
(03:39):
New York. But I don't know how much firing him
right now, but that accomplishes. You know, I get it,
But sometimes you just gotta get rid of it, Chris,
Like like, they won seven of their last year. They
won seven of their last nine last year. How do
you know how season pat teams taking them light? You know,
(04:01):
I mean, yeah, I took this hard to build of
the season a little a little more than I took
the second half. But but it's still seven out of nine,
which is shocking considering how poorly they played early. I
don't know. I just all right, well let's get into
let's get into this Kyrie everything now, Rob, this is uh,
(04:22):
this is stunning. All right, we're gonna we got to sound.
This is Kyrie on Kevin Durant's new podcast, actually the
first episode of the podcast. Here's Kyrie on Steve Nash
and head the head coach. We don't need somebody to
come in and put their coaching philosophy on everything that
we're doing and change up the wheel and yo, you
guys need to start doing this and we start running
on the first day of practice. It's just like, no,
(04:44):
I don't really see us having a head coach, you
know what I mean, Like Katie could be a head coach.
I could be a head coach. Jack Vaughan could do
it one day. It could it could be, It can be.
It's a collaborative effort, I think on our part. What
what I mean. Look, I've defended Kyrie, we both have. Rob.
(05:04):
I had no problem with the stuff he was saying
during the you know, the lockdown and he was he
was down. Yeah, I give Kyrie credit for that. And
I will say this, I give him credit for speaking
his mind and what he said about you know, we'll
get to that later, what he said about Lebron and
taking the last shot and all that. But come on,
(05:24):
come on, everything everything needs a leader, Rob and I.
This is our show, right, but we we have to
answer to somebody. They're not dictators, but we still you
answer to somebody. What a miss Scotch Chapiro online one Hello,
(05:49):
you know, like, like I'm telling you, Rob, if I'm
Steve Nash and I hear that, I mean, come on,
we don't need a coach to come in and put
his philosophy that's exactly what you need. That's what Steve
Kerr did, That's what Phil Jackson did with the Triangle
(06:11):
and Michael Jordans. That's what pat Riley has always done.
That's what Greg Popovitch does. That's what Philadelphia is looking
for Doc Rivers to do. What I mean and he
and and everything that we're doing to try to change
up the wheel? What is the wheel? Kyrie didn't even
play but twenty games last year. Kevin Durst never played
(06:33):
with these guys. What you don't have a philosophy yet,
you don't have a wheel yet? You need a I mean,
this is this sounds like we about to we at
the Why and we were about to run against the
brothers from across town. I robbed, Look, they are going
(06:56):
to be I'd even say ry by far, the most
talented team in the Eastern Conference. But and that goes
obviously they got the two superstars in k D and Kyrie,
and they're gonna have really good role players and and
even you know Charis LeVert Spencer. Then with those guys
(07:18):
can score the ball. But you it takes more than
talent to win big and I this is uh, I
don't like this philosophy and k D obviously an all
time great player, and I mean all time fifth top
fifty signed off. It's not just think's not a leader.
(07:41):
And he did sign off. Kyrie's a stronger personality. I
mean he clearly signed off on ye. He just said
because when he brought up Jack Vaughan, right, I mean
that was like right away, Jack Vaughn could do that.
There's no there's no difference between Steve Nash Jacque Vaughan.
(08:02):
There's no difference between the player, and I get it.
And we had James Posey on last hour rout and
we know Lebron has some has say here and there,
and you know, I mean, obviously you you want to
hear input from your best player, particularly if they're a
smart basketball player. Um, but you still gotta respect the
head coach. And there were times when you know, Phil
(08:25):
Jackson had to say this is what we're gonna do,
or Pat Riley obviously, this is what we're gonna do.
And I just think I don't like it round. I
don't know where you're at on it, well, I at all.
Along the NBA has always been called a player's league,
not a coach, right, would you agree with me on that,
(08:48):
and like I said, can't have some input, but this,
I think this just went a little too far. It's
a players league, so it always has been, uh, players
have to buy it, but I mean just have to
give a little bit. We saw that even with Phil
Jackson and the documentary, right when when he let Dennis
Rodman go to Las Vegas during the stay, not Chris.
(09:10):
He made a special anybody else if you would Joe
blow on the bench, you would have been released. Okay
that you want to go to Vegas? Am I right? No,
You're right, Son Sessions. You make concessions because you know
how good people are and how hard. Unfortunately they are
not that many people despite the three hundred and thirty
(09:34):
million people in the United States, Chris who are walking
around good enough to play in the NBA. I know
it sounds crazy because there's only four hundred jobs, but
do you know what I mean, right, So these guys
have a lot of power. I just think this is
again more talk than anything. I just think that this
is where the kids are today, outside the box, always
(10:01):
thinking about doing something and I'm I'm I'm I'm reaching here.
So I'm telling you ahead of time, we always had vaccinations.
We're not taking any vaccinations, even if it's gonna stop
the coronavirus. Nobody's sticking me, do you know what I mean? Chris? Like,
this is where this is where we are. I know
it sounds crazy, but this is where we are in
(10:23):
this world. And I think you have more independent thinkers,
more people who don't want to conform, more people who
don't want to uh follow um authority. About that. I
just think that's I really believe that that's where we are. Right.
I didn't say that. I did not say that. Man
(10:45):
it numbers of genders according to some people. But am
I right about? But? But but am I right about
just the mindset of some people? The kids today? So
here's this fits in this? But is this a good
healthy mentality? Of course not, of course not. But again,
(11:09):
is it about if those guys come on the court
and perform not? Chris, Right, Here's here's the issue. Okay,
if you are totally disrespectful Steve Nash tells a player
to go in or come out or whatever, and this
is during the game and they say I'm not coming out,
(11:32):
you know what I mean, or or something of that, ilk,
then you got a problem because ultimately, you're right, there's
got to be somebody to drive the ship. Uh, in
the huddle, have that conversation. This is what we're trying
to do. And and you know this, everybody's not always
on board. We saw Scott a great player, run the triangle, yep,
(11:55):
and he bought We know that that's a that's a
a legend, right Scottie Pippen didn't like to play that
Phil Jackson set up for Tony Kuko. Yeah, didn't go
in the game. Didn't how many ye? Yes? But at
the end but yeah, right now you you yeah, this
(12:15):
here's what what Kyrie. But you get what I'm making.
I'm not making extreme. I'm just saying the mindset of
of some millennials. Yeah. Yeah, But what Kyrie's doing is
and and he's a great player. If he stays healthy,
he'll be a Hall of Famer. Um. But he's what
he's putting on himself is you better win, You better
(12:38):
win because and I don't know that that onus was
on him when he left Cleveland, because you don't. We've
talked about it a number of times. Rob. Very few
small point guard, you know, normal sized point guards have
led teams to championships only three Gus Williams and Seattle
ISAA Thomas in Detroit and Steph Kirry in Golden Day.
(13:00):
So nobody if Kyrie didn't win another championship, nobody was
gonna be like, oh, he wasn't as good as long
as he You know, we had good teams and was
in the hunt and all that. But when you when
you say things like this, you're you're making people gonna
be like, man, you better go out and win. Talking
all this, and the track record without Lebron isn't really there.
(13:23):
Obviously Boston, he struggled mightily. You know, they went to
the game seven of the conference finals the year before
when he was hurt, and then he comes back. They
get trounced and Kyrie didn't play well. But I remember
when the things got there and what you called was
hurt Heyward. You remember they got off tour an unbelievable start.
Remember that when they first got to Boston and I
(13:45):
don't know what it was, Chris, what a seventeen in water? No,
it went south, but I'm just a good start. It
was ridiculous. And then because that was without Hayward, and
then things just turned in Boston. But you're right, at
some point you gotta put up. Yeah, this will be interesting.
I'll tell you what. If I'm Steve Nash, he gonna
have to be a man and going there and you know,
(14:06):
do his thing. But I don't like seeing those quotes.
If I'm Steve Nash, all right, here we go. Do
you agree with Kyrie and KD that coaching should be
a collaborative effort. Do you think they can win a
title with that mentality? It's your turned away and with
Chris and Rob The Odd Couple eight seven seven ninety

(14:47):
Company too. I really like that show. Yes, I didn't
like the Ropers. I liked mister Furley. I thought he
was funny. The Ropers weren't funny. I thought they would draw. Yeah,
I agree, I'm I mean I didn't dislike them. Maybe
to that extent. But yeah, Furley was better yet Knox
was just hilarious on that show. Absolutely. All right, we

getting all those owns all right? A seven seven ninety
nine on Fox A seven seven nine sixty three sixty nine,
(15:50):
Ken k D and Kyrie when with this collaborative effort
philosophy on coaching? What do you think? All right, let's
start with Ron in New York. You're on the odd
couple Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Ron? Hey, good even guys,
thanks for taking the call. I'm going to hit you
with a quote of one of the best to ever
(16:12):
do it as far as coaches go, and that's Bill Belichick,
and he says, the greatest ability is availability, and the
only consistent thing with Kyrie is he's consistently unavailable. So
if you don't need a coach, you damn sure need
a trainer. Are they going to allow trainers to come
in and work with these guys? You need to produce consistently.
(16:33):
You don't have to win championships necessarily, but produced consistently.
And this era of load management, when you can't just
be available for your team consistently, I don't think he
can pop off with statements like this. That's a good
comment because it's undeniable. Rob. I mean, Kyrie's just been
banged up a large But my only pushback is he
played eleven games in college, was banged up, and they
(16:55):
drafted him first overall. Well, nobody's denying that he's great.
But no, but no, but but if it's all about availability,
he wouldn't have been the first pick in the NBA
draft because they know this talent well. But he was hurt, Chris, No,
but you still gotta play at some point. That's what
what I'm saying no, but our kid didn't count if
(17:17):
he was hurt in college. But you're not for seeing
he's gonna be hurt, you know, must have most of
his career. Well, but he was hurt in college and
you and people took it. All I'm saying is you're
expecting something. Okay, you you you buy a tomato and
like he was hurt. Every year, you buying tomato that
was bruised, and then when you get home you're shocked
(17:37):
that is rotten on the inside. You can't that's a
little now, come on, It wasn't like he played three
years and every year he know, but he went. But
he was drafted after playing eleven games, and all right,
then then that's what draft to accept. All right, let's
go with uh, Danny and Bakersfield. You're on the odd
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Danny? Hey fellas
(17:59):
happy almost Friday? Yes, Hey, I was calling. I want
to answer the question with the question. And my question
is with kyd and UH and Kyrie filled this way
and you know, say what they're saying, if if they
had a coach stepping in that had you know, a
bigger background at Doctor Rivers or a Gentray or something
like that. Would they would they have the same kind
(18:21):
of point of view. But that that's a great that's
a great question, Danny, because they're getting a guy who's
never been a coach at any level. And even though
right and they could say, well, we know as much
as him, we played in the NBA two we even
achieved more than Steve Nash has in the NBA. I'm
not saying I'm not justified he has it. Steve Nash
(18:42):
never won anything. He won two mbps back to back. Right, So, Danny,
your question is well taken. It really is well And
I tell you what if if your question is actually
hitting at some truth then and only Kyrie and Kad
know this, then that's gonna be a problem. Because it was.
And I don't think they meant to disrespect Steve Nash,
(19:05):
because I really do think they respect him and they
like him, and they had, you know, obviously they signed
off on him. But it was disrespectful to Steve Nash
to say, I don't really look at it like we
have a head coach. Well, that's his he's the head coach.
That's his title. And if if one of the if
Spencer Dinwitty or Cares Laverde or Joe Harris or somebody said,
(19:30):
I don't really think we have superstars. You know, we
all just one team. You know, nobody's better than anybody else.
I might shine one game, Kyrie might shine another, Carris
might shine another, KD might get his one night. You
would be like, wait, dude, we're the stars. And it
(19:53):
was disrespectful to Steven. Again. I don't think they meant
it that way, but it was. Mark in Virginia. You're
on the oddca Bull Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Mark?
Finally got through? Guy? What over? I'm bollowing a gratulation.
How long have you been trying to get through? Mark? Well?
I was on your other call too, about the Golden
and Anthony Davis and all that, and my god, I
(20:16):
was I was stunned. But I was walking across the
garage and I talk you guys were punking me when
you talk about this collaborative effort. I'll tell you Kyrie's
got too much time on his hands. Oh, what's right,
he's injured again. Of course he's got a lot of
the time on his hand. He should be going through
the Antonio Brown school of self self realization. I'll tell
you this is This is maddening when you think about
(20:38):
his collaborative effort. Yeah, having to sit down with Bill
Belichick for the late Vince Frombarni and talk about collaborative
I'll say this, if you have a collaborative effort and
that coach is fired, get rid of them. Hey, hey, Mark,
how long have you been listening to the show? Oh?
I've been listening a lot. Man. I got a blister
on this one finger from hitting retail redout but over
(20:59):
two years ago. Hey, Mark, Mark, one quick question, Mark,
what size do you wear a shoe? Well? That is
my nickname shoe But I got that because I played
baseball with white spikes because I love the athletics back
in the seventies. If anybody remembers that, they all. But
what size do you wear? Eleven and a half to
twelve depend upon the type of shoe? Well you know
(21:22):
what Mark mean anything by that? Now? Mark, you know what?
You are going to be the winner of the first
pair of odd couple slides that will be given out
to UH listeners randomly. Chris, we got some pairs to
give away for a courtesy of Eye Slides. So you
(21:44):
know what we'll get your information. Thanks for being a
loyal guide to the show, and we do have It's
just gonna be random, but you have to match the
size as we have. Seriously, that's the only way we
can give him out, Chris. So you know he's got
a couple tea cups, T shirts. Not these panties. Underlides
(22:08):
are good though, yours? Chris, Yes, I can't wait. I
need some slides too. All right, here we go. We
got our man Greg Jennings coming up next. But first
be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
(22:28):
iHeart Radio app. He Got Muscles. He's a super Bowl champion,
Fox NFL analyst, friend of the show and a rising bodybuilder.
Our man Greg Jenny's what's up, big jamis? Who was
going on FOS? How you budding going? I'm excellent, I'm excellent. Good,
(22:53):
Hey good. I want to jump in here real quick
right away and ask you about the Saints and Drew Brees.
How big of the game is this Craig for the
Saints who are one and two haven't really looked that good,
and either has Drew Brees unless he's throwing the ball
(23:13):
four yards at a time. Are you concerned about Drew
Brees and the Saints? Of course, of course I am
concerned about Drew Brees Saints. When you look at them
defensively is where they're hanging their hat. That's what's keeping
them in these games. And offensively you lose Michael Thomas,
(23:34):
even though you have other pieces, Drew Brees has to
now carry more of the weight and he has been
unable to do that thus far what we've seen, and
so it only the concern only gets a little higher
because without Michael Thomas, it's like, okay, Drew, Okay, Drew,
(23:54):
what are you gonna do? Are you gonna elevate your
level of play and elevate the guys around you? Or
is that no more? And And what I believe is
that Drew Brees has has gone on like we've that
we've passed that point in his career. Is this a
good team? It is, But I don't think Drew Brees
is at the pointment career where he can bear that
(24:17):
type of a load. Greg you obviously played with Aaron
Rodgers one of the greatest ever throw of football. So
if anyone's not gonna be in awe of what Pat
Mahomes is doing, it would be somebody like you. But
when you see what he's doing, I know it's early
in his career and he got a long way to
go before he can, you know, be historic, But can
(24:40):
you kind of put what you see in the context
of history, like is this something special or is he
just he's just a great quarterback at this point in time.
I'm gonna be honest, guy, he's just like he's he's
an everyday standard quarterback. Guys, what are we making a
big No? Let me tell you does it? I am
(25:01):
in awe of what he's doing because I know I
know how special you have to be to do the
things that he's doing. Like I've seen that, I've lived it,
but he is taking it to an another notch, another level.
And I think what's what's so cool about what Patrick
(25:23):
Mahomes is doing is everybody, everyone in that locker room
has nothing but blowing things to say about him, and
he goes about his business as this, Yeah, I just
threw three touchdown passes a couple of weeks and this
I mean, but the team is great and we're you know,
he's just that type of likable guy, so you have
(25:44):
to root and enjoy and just I don't even like
to compare them to other guys because we do that
all the time. He's he's right now in the league
of his own. To be honest. Let let me ask
you all all about the NFL. And obviously the COVID
nineteen you got positive tests, a game has been postponed
(26:06):
til later in the year. What are the issues I
have with the NFL? Was them not testing people on
game day? They test them every day except game day?
And does that make sense? If you're putting somebody out
if they have it that morning or whatever, test positive,
and then you're exposing them to everybody else, why wouldn't
(26:27):
you test every day to make sure that somebody who
does have it isn't out there with everybody else. That's
I'm still surprised by that. Well, Rob, you gotta look
at it. It's they're already going to the extremes which
if necessary, to test these guys almost as on the
daily and the one day that you want guys to
(26:51):
just focus on the game, they're tested before they travel
I'm tested before I travel. Everyone who's going to be
at that facility or arena is tested, and so it's
at some point it's like we gotta let the players
that we just gotta let it happen. You know, you
can't cover every single corner that you that you there's
(27:15):
a lot of ifs. I know. The money thing is
you're you're testing them six days? Why why not the
day of game? Is all I'm asking is one more
day when you come in that morning, you get the
crap a test and then if you don't have it,
you play. I don't, I can't. That doesn't make sense
to me. I think I think one of the one
(27:37):
of the things that you would still run into rob
is if you have it um that morning, let's just
say Sunday, they do test and you do have it. Well,
now you have to contact trace every individual that you
come into contact with recently. And who's to say that
they don't end up having the symptoms a little later
(27:59):
or showing We don't know. There's so many unknown variables
to where it's like it's I see where you're coming from.
But I think the league, I honestly think the league
has done a tremendous job. It was inevitable for guys
to contract because of them being able to go out
(28:19):
on their own. There is no bubble. But they've tried
to create as much protocol and put perimeters in place
to where they could at least control it. Greg After
what Kansas City did to Baltimore Monday night, there's a
lot of people talking about the Chiefs can't be beaten.
(28:39):
They could go sixteen and oh, so on and so forth.
Would you, as a player, would you have wanted to
go sixteen and not? Like I've kind of been saying, Obviously,
you go out every week to win, but I don't
know if it's good for a team to go into
the playoffs at sixteen and oh and with all the
pressure there already is to win a Super Bowl, I
(29:02):
think that just heaps on even more pressure. Do you
think they might do it? And as a player or
former player, would you have wanted to do that? You know,
going to playoffs like that. I'll answer this question. I'll
answer to that. I think they might do it. They
have a chance, They definitely have a chance. They have
a test this week. Obviously with New England, anything can
(29:22):
happen in any single week as a player, would I
want to go sixteen and no? That's asking me what
I want to lose, and the answer is no. So
so yeah, but you know where I'm coming from, right,
I know where you're coming from. But but if you're
that good, why not just be that good? If we were,
(29:44):
I was on a sixteen and one team, and trust me,
we wanted to go sixteen and no, we didn't care
about the pressure of what would have come with going
sixteen and in the playoffs that would have taken care
of itself. But right in that moment, yes, sixteen and old,
give me the pressure. We already know we have the
pressure because we are an unbeaten team late in the season.
(30:08):
So any any team that has the opportunity, or any
player that has that chance, they would say, yes, I'm
gonna throw this at you quickly because I know you're
a basketball fan. You're a big time basketball star in
Calama Zoom according to you. Um, but don't got two
high schools. Don't have two high schools in Calama Zoo.
I just want you to know game. I thought you
(30:32):
had game, but any quickly, Um, A lot of people
are starting Mark Keith Morris said today, that Anthony day
or last night after the game. Anthony Davis is the
best player in the world, and he knew he was
saying that over Lebron. Um is there. Do you think
there's any possibility of that because obviously Ad could end
up being the finals MVP. Of course, of course. I
(30:57):
mean I think on this team, in order for the
Lakers to win, in order for them to have gotten
to this point, Anthony Davis has consistently been the X factor.
Now we know, we come to know and expect what
we're gonna get from Lebron, but when they have shown
signs of struggle, it's because Anthony Davis hasn't lived up
(31:18):
to what the expectations is. And so I don't think
Lebron cares about getting the MVP. He just wants to win.
And when you share that same like Minus, Look, however,
we get it. Let's get it. Whoever gets the MVP
gets the MVP. All right, there is that's our man
is doing. Greg, how make sure you have a close
(31:40):
pin for your nose because you're doing the Vikings game
this week? Right? They stink? I'm sorry, Greg? Who are they?
Who are they playing? They are there, They're they're playing
in Texas. That's I think that's an interesting Can you
believe how bad their defenses? Seriously? And I know we
(32:02):
don't have any time their defense is struggling. And I
know for a fact that Mike, Mike Zimmer is hating
every moment of that because that's a reflection of his
side of the ball. And any coach that that is
an offensive minded coach or defensive minded coach, they at
the very least they don't want to be the reason
(32:24):
their side of the ball or their their side of
the ball be the reason that a team is struggling.
And that's not the case with the Minnesota Vikings. All Right,
that's our man, Greg Jennings, Fox NFL. Alan's thanks a lot, brother,
talk to you next week. Absolutely all right, Peace more
I Couple come in your way as we get into
the New Doctor in Philadelphia. Keep it locked Fox Sports Radio.
(32:48):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeart Radio app. All Right, it is The I Couple
Chris and Rob on a TV theme show Thursday, of
course this is a different world. And Alex, you have
(33:09):
you ever seen this show? No, I have never seen
it because this is a not the version of the
song that they played on the show, really right, So
I don't know what this version is, Rob, you know
what I'm saying. This is that Okay, what I'm saying, Rob,
(33:30):
this is yeah, yeah, yeah, no lower version. But this
is like they sang like there was a song, you
know what I mean, and they and this is a
Wreatha singing it. But you're right, yeah, they sped it
up or something. But you well, you know Chris that
there's a original thank you for being a friend the
Golden Girls that Andrew Gold did that that wasn't used
(33:52):
on the show either. You know, the original song was
sang by a man Andrew Gold like to make a
more sitcom, right, you know, you gotta remember because a
sitcom is only it's a forty five second, so you
can't use a song usually. You kind of got to
do a variation of it, all right. A few days
ago and we're coming you live from the Guy Go
(34:13):
Fox Sports Radio Studios. The A couple a few days ago,
Doc Rivers was basically fired by the La Clippers, and
he's already got a new job. Ro not not only
a new job, a good five year contract. Yes, yes,
um in Philadelphia, obviously you got two stars and Ben
(34:35):
Simmons and Joe LMBI. You got Tobias Harris is your
third guy who played and had great success for Doc
with the Clippers. Look, I'm just gonna keep it real.
I was disappointed with the job Doc did with the Clippers,
not just this year. Some people are acting like Paul
George cost him his job, or Kauhi because he choked,
(34:58):
they choked, they cost him to No, I don't see
it that way. I see it as there were several
I mean Doc was there seven years and never with
major league talent, Chris Paul DeAndre, Jordan, Blake Griffin, a
shooter role player in JJ Ray you robbed. They had
Kenyan Mark. I don't know if Kenya was there with Doc.
(35:18):
I think he was, but you know, they had several
Matt Bars. They had all types of players coming in
and out of there, and they never got past the
second round. And so Doc underachieved there. Now, that said,
if the choice was between him and Mike D'Antoni, and
(35:39):
that's what the reports are, and that's what I actually
was told as well, that Dantoni would get the job,
would have got the job. If it wasn't Doc, then
I'm sorry. I'm taking Doc rivers for that particular team.
Doc is a better fit than Mike D'Antoni. Doc has
at least won a championship, and he's been good with
(36:01):
players that knock has been. He doesn't really get on
his stars. Now he's gonna have to. You're gonna have
to get through the MBAT and send him somehow. But uh,
look for what was out there, I mean, you could
have gone ty Lou. Maybe thy will get the Clippers job,
but I actually think this could be good for Philly.
Doc's gotta be better than he was with the Clippers,
(36:23):
but this, this could be good for them. I'm not
that mad at this. You know, I didn't want Mike D'Antonio.
I wrote a call that's been about that. I just
didn't get that. But this is a weird hire for me,
just from the standpoint Chris that you just had a
coach who had this the high expectations thing to work out.
(36:44):
It's not always all his fault. But just like I
said to Byron, Scott the other day, who was kind
of like, well, he's not making shots when well, when
when players make shots, coach still coaches still get credit
right when they win. So so you can't I can't
look at it that way because uh, you know, you
can't only use that when you lose and and and
(37:05):
say oh, well they didn't do their part. Well we
get it. Um. I just think it's a hard is
what it is with Doc Rob three He's dropped three
three one series in the playoffs. No other coach has
done that in the NBA history. I just don't. I don't.
I don't get the press conference. Yes, he's won a championship,
(37:26):
Yes he's done a lot of good things in the NBA,
But coming off the heels of that, Chris, I just
I couldn't be a general manager doing that. I just
and the Philadelphia media I'm sure gonna grill him on this,
but it's just it seems odd. That's all, all right, Rob.
The Jets Sam Darnold had a forty six yard touchdown run,
(37:50):
but he just got knocked out of the game with
what looks like it might be a shoulder injury. What
Jets are up at least he got the Jets the
lead seven three. We'll see if it holds, but bad
news potentially for the Jets. All right, keep it locked.
An hour left. Odd couple
