This also is a sure rash talk Injuice Day. That's right,
you can call in trash anyone or anything in the
world of sports in the third hour that's about six
thirty five pm Pacific, nine thirty five Eastern. You be

(01:08):
at a call in and trash anyone or anything in
the world of sports. So get your takes ready. I
want to see my trash from dead Spin, you know,
trash talking Tuesday, my video trash talking, not your trash
trash talking. Don't belittle your articles like that. No, it's
not the article. It's a vide trash Tom Brady. So

(01:31):
if you want to take a look at that, go
to dead spin dot com. Come on, you know what,
I'm stealing money? Uh that I should have done done
that Pro Bowl. No, you know like grottis because that
was like stealing money today. But it's I know, I
know you need cigarette afterwards at Baby Oil. All right,
we got Charlie Castle, former nfl GM NFL network analysts

(01:55):
friend of the show coming up at the bottom of
the hour. Just want to say when I do mention baby,
all my hands get dried. So I just want you
to know that's like to just just from I don't
know what. I don't know what in the world that means. No, oh,
can you tell us what that means? Or to say
that more for like the Quiet Storm crowd. No, no,

(02:18):
not the Quiet Storm. I'm just saying. All right, anyway, Uh,
let's stay with the NFL rob and the Dallas Cowboys
that some pick to make the Super Bowl. I'm glad
I wasn't in that camp. I was I was last year, yes,
but not no. I picked them to win the division though,

(02:38):
which it's sadly it's still because Brady took over, and
you you left Dak and the lurch because Brady came
to the NFC. No, I wouldn't have picked them even
if I hadn't picked Tampa. If Tampa wasn't who would
you have picked? Probably New Orleans? Okay, probably New Orleans. Um.
But anyway, Dallas rob is two and seven. They're time

(03:00):
right for the worst record with the Washington football team
in the NFC for the worst record, and it got
the third worst record in the league, which, of course
in NFL means that they would have the third pick
in the NFL draft if the season ended today. Now
there are those throwing it out there. Hey, it's a

(03:21):
good quarterback draft. You might want to look at somebody.
But Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys ROB is saying,
no way, no, how. Here's Jerry on one or five
point three in Dallas talking about that prospect. Is it
crazy to bring up the idea of taking a quarterback
with the third pick or the second pick if you

(03:42):
may have it. Yes, you asked me, if it's crazy
to bring the idea that enter here? Yes, playing games here, guys,
but it stopped the thing to be talking about it all,
you know, Dak is our quarterback. All right, Rob, you
you want to tackle that first, you could do ahead. Look,
I think that this is the smart thing to say,

(04:06):
right if you're Jerry Jones, he said the smart thing.
He said, Dak's our quarterback. He said that's not, you know,
the thing to do. But he also said that's not
the thing to be talking about. He's right, they don't
know how the season is going to end. They almost
beat Pittsburgh on Sunday. What if they win five games

(04:30):
and then they finished with the eleventh pick or whatever
it might be, and then you don't have a chance
at Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields, and you're obviously gonna
go with Dak. Now you've put your foot in your mouth,
and Dak will probably even want to drive the price
up higher than it already is going to be. So
I think Jerry did said the right thing. But Rob,

(04:54):
and you know, I like Dak Prescott, but I've never
said Dak Prescott is an Aaron Rodgers or a Tom
Brady or somebody that can put the franchise on his back.
He's a franchise quarterback. I've said he is in route
to be an elite, but he's not. And I if

(05:16):
I'm the Dallas Cowboys Rob, if I was Jerry Jones
Stephen Jones, I'm gonna be honest, I would be thinking
if I get a chance to get Justin Fields, if
we got the second, the third, the fourth pick, and
Justin Fields is on the board, I'm drafting because Trevor
Lawrence is not gonna be on the foard. We know that.

(05:38):
But if I could get Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields,
I would do it as much as I like Dak.
And here's why. Money. We know that Cowboys has spent
all this money on all these other players. And if
they franchise Dak next year, which if they don't get
a quarterback, they should do. But if your franchise him,
it's gonna be at about thirty eight million dollars. You're

(06:00):
probably gonna have to cut some other guys who are
making good money, some guys that your team needs. And
it also kind of hamstrings you in terms of what
else you can add in the future. And obviously what
they have doesn't look like it's enough. And so if
you get as many of these other teams that the
Kansas City did with Pat Mahomes, and Baltimore. When you

(06:25):
have that rookie quarterback on that rookie scale salary not
making a ton, you can build around him better. And
we've seen Kyler Murray now to a ton of vital
I'm not gonna go overboard on two. It's only been
two games. But Joe Burrow justin Herbert, these young boys
are coming in bawling, balling, and so if I can

(06:50):
get one of them, yeah, I gotta be honest, I
would do it. Well. I mean, obviously to come station
is gonna happen. Uh, it makes sense that they would
ask him about it, and uh, you know, Jerry, instead
of playing coy or saying that you know, he shouldn't
be talking about it or whatever, should just I mean,

(07:13):
he could play it straight. But the problem is you
think he should have. If he's thinking what I said,
you think he should say that. No, So he could
just say, we'll have to see when we get there.
We're not there yet, that's all I mean. I'm not
gonna tell you I'm not even that leave you know,
you know, but I'm just saying I don't know. I
would just saying no, but that, But to me, that's
realistic though. I don't. I don't think that that's forgulent,

(07:34):
you know, like like we're not there. We don't have
a great pick for me to sit here and and
give you a fantasy to make you feel good. I
don't know what our pick will be. I don't know
if we'll catch at the end of the year. We're
trying to win. The Cowboys are not in the tanking.
We're trying to win every single week. If you make

(07:54):
that argument and say, after that's all over and we
see where we are, then we'll take a look and
see what's going to be. We're going to do what's
best for the Dallas Cowboys to deliver a championship. Who
could argue with that, Chris nobody, nobody, But given their
history and what they've done the last quarter century, he's

(08:17):
probably showing his cards that they won't do anything and
that they'll just bring back Dak back and they'll overpay him.
I don't know. I you know, there was other situations
where they could have taken other players that they were
trying to move up, and they've made some mistakes and
they've done some good things drafting. But I'm telling you,
if you're if you're terrible, if you're terrible and you

(08:40):
have a chance to get a quarterback on the cheap.
And it's not just that Dak got hurt. Let's just
be honest, you guys hadn't been Dak, hadn't been beating
any of the good teams where you're trying to get to,
so you could say, oh, look at the numbers. He
threw for four hundred and fifty yards and a loss.
They've been losing the last two years, even with Dak

(09:02):
last year. So I'm sorry, I mean, I just can't
see how you could just act as if everything's gonna
turn around or you can't take a look at somebody
else at some point. So if I'm the Cowboys, all
my chips are on the table, I'm gonna take a
look at what's gonna be best. And I don't know
if I'm paying thirty eight million dollars for a guy

(09:22):
coming back off of serious injury who hasn't hasn't beaten
good teams over the last year and a half. Yeah, Look,
Dak is far from their biggest problem, you know. I mean,
their defense obviously is atrocious. Ezekiel Elliott doesn't look like
the Ezekiel Elliott of Vold and the offensive line is

(09:45):
injured and banged up. I mean, they got a lot
of problems that are worse than Dak Prescott. You could
do much worse than Dak Prescott. But but but shouldn't
you tell you a little bit? Even though even when
Tony Dungee said what he said, Chris, it spoke volumes
because Dak was throwing the hell out of the ball
four hundred and fifty yards fifty five hundred yards, four

(10:09):
or five touchdowns. He was bawling, and Tony Dungee said
and it came off insensitive because it was after an injury,
right that it might be blessing in disguise because when
they were he meant it because they're gonna run because
but but what he was saying was the Cowboys were

(10:29):
better when it was about Dak Prescott. I mean, when
it was about Ezekiel Elliott, they were That's when they
went to the playoffs, that's when they beat Seattle. Chris,
It's true. No, I look, I agree, I mean, kid,
I do think you could win a super Bowl with
Dak Prescott, Like if you're strong as all get out

(10:53):
everywhere else, because we've seen rob pretty good court Joe Flacco,
a Brad Johnson, We've seen quarterback Trent Deliverer, but overall,
he's a you know, he's he's pretty good. He's not great,
but I mean, you know, it happens. I'm just saying
in general, they aren't. You don't always need a superstar

(11:16):
quarterback to win a super Bowl. And I do think
Dak is a winner. I think he's got good intangibles.
I think he's a leader, and I think he's good
enough physically with the arm, with the legs to help
you win a super Bowl. But he is not going
to just put the team on his back like some
of these really awesome quarterbacks are where. If you're Kansas City,

(11:38):
if you're a Green Bay, if you're you know, uh Baltimore,
if you're even now Arizona and some of these other teams,
you're not thinking about a quarterback. Dak is not that.
And again, I like him, but he's not that. I've
never said tried to say he's that. He's not. And

(11:58):
even when he was at his best, Rob you still
got what one playoff win. So no matter how much
you like Dak, you can't Nobody can sit here and
say if they get a chance to draft a quarterback
who looks like he'll be at least as good as
Dak and possibly better, and he's gonna cost you a

(12:21):
lot less money. You can't say, well, you know, definitely
we're not looking at that that's not even signed. If
that had accepted that contract five years thirty three conversation, right,
then you're having a different conversation. Yeah, so we'll see.
I mean, like you said, I think they're trying to
win games. Obviously they almost beat Pittsburgh. But what could

(12:46):
be a blessing in disguise for them is if they
end up getting one of the top picks and having
a shot at one of those top quarterbacks, because you know,
then then you won't have to be tied up with
all the Dak's money and you can spend it elsewhere
at least keep some of these guys. All right, what
do you guys think eight seven, seven ninety nine on

(13:07):
Fox eight seven to seven, nine ninety six, sixty three
sixty nine. You're turned away in with Chris and Rob
with the Cowboys. Be crazy for passing on an upper
echelon QB at the top of the NFL draft, or
in other words, do you think they should go for it.
Justin Fields or Trevor Lawrence, We'll continue the conversation with you. Next,

(13:28):
it's The Eye Couple Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar
then Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
DJ Alice tishert coming off the long weekend in a
romantic mood. I'm gonna leave it at that date or anything.

(13:52):
All right, you need it something, you're playing this all right.
It's the Couple Chris and Rob coming to you live
from my Fox Radios through this weekend. Now, I mean
he you know about the pictures he'd be posting on Instagram,
US hanging on trees in tight shorts and CB. You
gotta just, you know, let them know what's up. Yes,

(14:14):
so it's called advertising, Chris, you don't have to. You know,
we didn't grow up in that year and the merchandise
was Bob Rob. Oh my god, look at see that.
You are playing this for a reason, all right. We

ways for you to get what you need when you
need it. With their free same day store pickup, you
can place your order online and grab what you need
today at more than fifty six hundred AU those on

(14:36):
locations getting his own all those on eight seven seven
ninety Fox. Should the Cowboys go for one of these
top hot shot young quarterbacks if they land near the
top of the draft and move on from mister Dak Prescott,
you'll turn away in all right, oh man, let's see um.

(14:56):
Let's kick it off with tour in Georgia. You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Tory,
thank Christ and shown. I think we list one key
ingredient about the decks to us. You play the card
for the rest of the Wait a minute, you gotta

(15:17):
get closer. Yeah something. It sounds muffle Tory say it again.
It was muffle uh before we get into the the
just played the cards. I just go because who's gonna
be the backup if they do it? In fact, have
a loser draft a high draft pick. So you're saying maybe,
you're saying maybe, like let's say hypothetically they got the

(15:38):
third pick, they could get Justin Fields. Are you saying
bring back Dak and have Justin Fields learned under him
as a backup. That's quick. That's one only. I mean,
it's a nice scenario if that money wasn't involved. You know,
if you didn't, you have to give him thirty eight
million dollars. I mean, are you clearly not thinking he's
your guy for the future? Right? Because if he's right,

(16:00):
you drafted a quarterback, and if you're not going to
sign them to a long term deal, why are you
just giving away thirty eight million dollars for one year?
It doesn't make sense. You have to either make a
commitment to Dak by not drafting a quarterback, or you
have to draft a quarterback, right, Chris, I mean I
totally agree one or the other. You can't remember, right,
You probably have to cut some good players. They've signed

(16:23):
a lot of people to a lot of money and
they don't. It's not endless, shrimp. It runs out Chris
and Michigan. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Chris? How's it going? Guys? How you guys
doing to night? How are you good? I love the show, guys.
Um I got I got two quick points here. The
first one as far as the quarterback physician goes. I

(16:45):
think they should probably see what they could get in
the draft as they do get a high pick um,
because you don't know what that is gonna come back
with off that injury. Um so, and I don't think
they're really sold on that or they would have paid them.
They did offer him the five year deal, but but
I think if they really wanted him, they would have acquiesced.

(17:07):
They would have given in to him to what if
he's your guy, like make him happy, your quarterback. If
you found your guy, that's to haggle over. Dak wanted
one last year and the Cowboys wouldn't budge. Something doesn't
sound right to me. It's not like he asked for
two more years, Chris, you know what I mean? He
asked for last Yeah. Absolutely, and then a question. I

(17:28):
got three guys and then I'll leave it at that.
Why do we keep talking about the Cowboys? I think
it's time. Well they are okay. Let me ask you
this because we we we talked about this robbing I
in our pre show meeting yesterday. Yes, we did meet.
You brought this uping, Yes it is, and we know
they're horrible. We've said it. We don't talk about him
every day now we don't. I mean that there are

(17:50):
days when when we do say we're not talking about him, right,
We just said like we're not. But we both admitted this.
And I grew up and Avid that Steelers fan, and
that's when Dallas was their rival. You know. It was
Terry Brash against Roger Starbuck Lynn Swine against Drew Pearson, franko'
harris against Tony Dorsett, on and on and on. So

(18:11):
I didn't like Dallas growing up, but I gotta admit it.
Rob did too. They are America's team, are they not? Right?
They are no matter what you think about them, and
you don't have to like them. They're not good. They
they haven't won been to the NFC Championship game in
twenty five years. I haven't won a championship in twenty
five years. All that stuff is all true, but they

(18:35):
are the team that you still have to be uh
is included in talking about football. It's just I think
they're the most national team, Like they probably got the
most fans all over the country, like who, I don't
even know who would be? I mean I would obviously
New England won the most lately, but NA I was
a lot of America's team. No, I them Pittsburgh like

(19:00):
San Francis, like who you know. Even Roethlisberger was saying
We're the world's team or whatever Pittsburgh. That that sounded
good or not. They are just not. Uh Let's let's
go to uh, Max and the Cowboys. The Cowboys, Robie.
Robie just whispered in my ear. The Cowboys have three
of the top the five highest rated games this season. Rob, No,

(19:23):
I'm thinking about that. As bad as they are. Not
only that, you know what, it's even bigger, even bigger.
They have their own merchandising deal that's separate from the
other sect. And end the story, all right, end the story?
What what? What? What owner could could broker that Chris
to have his own merchandising deal. That's how much more
merchandise he sells in the rest of the league. So

(19:45):
he had enough clout to have his own deal. Let's
do Max and Georgia. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Seller is good to talk about?
We talked about Seattle last night. We're talking about the
Cowboys night. If it's okay, like to melt the two
together and say this to me. One team clearly seems
to be doing the right things. They're winning Super Bowls

(20:07):
from time to time. One team hasn't been there in
twenty five plus years. So the funny thing is is
that one team decided to pay their quarterback the farm's
nearly forty million dollars. The next team is debating doing it,
but they don't really want to do it, so they
probably shouldn't do it. The other team that was set
on paying the guy, you could really make the argument
he's done well, but the team has suffered since then.

(20:28):
Your defense has been shattered. You lost everybody that was
worthy but Bobby Wagner. Everybody else is gone. So you
look at Dallas and they're coming to that same quandrum
where you got to make decisions between the offensive line guys.
You keep the running back you paid, the receivers you paid.
It's an interesting dynamic. Just one team has won and
the other team hasn't won and probably don't win any
time soon. It's true, as DAK has become more prolific statistically,

(20:54):
they've lost more. Right, I mean, the first few years
when they were actually winning, you know he was he
was more of a I used to call him a
game manager who could make plays, you know, who could
make that big play with his legs or even his arm.
But it wasn't about him. It's become about him the
last couple of years, and he's put up huge numbers,

(21:16):
but they haven't won. Here. Here's the one thing I'll say,
Rob though, to you and Max and guys like that,
to say, we had another caller that the Cowboys didn't
want him. Mean you were married if because here's the deal,
Dak wanted four years, the Cowboys won it five. If
you're dating a woman and you know she wants to
be engaged, I mean you've been dating a while, she's

(21:39):
hounding you. I want to be engaged. I want to
be engaged. Are you going to buy her a ring
and propose to her if you don't want her? Crush up?
Your argument doesn't work here from this stampoint, you're divorced.
Nope too? Why um it is kind of funny, it's

(22:05):
been a long time, but anyway, My point is this,
it only cost you more money the longer you wait. Chris,
I agree with that, so that that if he really
but if he's your guy, you just do whatever you
have to do to get a deal done, because the
longer you wait, it's so so for that to be

(22:26):
the reason. Four years versus five doesn't make sense to me.
The cowboys term, no, it would save you money. No,
if he take if he took the five, now you
know they could have said, all right, we'll do it
for four. But but you're gonna pay him thirty eight.
Is what I'm saying, is you you're paying I get
it because you didn't go ahead and accept the four.

(22:47):
But my point is, why are you offering him five
years hoping in the back of your mind he doesn't
take it. Like if I proposal to a woman hoping
in the back of mind, I hope she don't take this.
I hope that's It's more this that if that's your
guy and you're you're confident about it, you just make

(23:07):
him happy. Chase. Sometimes you know that you're you've been
married for for forty years. Sometimes you gotta give in
and just you want to make your spouse happy, right,
but you get so you give in, And the Cowboys
were unwilling to give in on a guy who they
supposedly covered as their as their guy. That doesn't make sense.
I would say two things that. First of all, I've

(23:29):
been married twenty five years. Lesson it just feels like
they got older. I always say them always, it feels
like twenty five days when I'm when I'm in the mood, right.
But anyway, Rob, here's the two things I throw at you.
One uh, I look, they like that. They think they
can win with him. Obviously, you know he's a he's

(23:49):
a good quarterback, but he ain't Pat Mahomes or any
of those guys where it's like, look, let's just lock
him up and make him happy. Second thing, I got
him locked up, Like, that's the thing. They control the situation.
You're right, it'll cost him more money. You're totally right,
but they still not don't have to lose him if
they still want him. So it's like, let's see him
late this year and see, you know, we want to

(24:11):
bring him back at thirty eight million. But we will
discuss this and all things in NFL with former GM
Charlie Casseerly. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Fox sports Radio dot com and within the iHeart Radio app.
Search f SR to listen live. Our man Charlie Castle

(24:32):
is in the house, Charlie, how are you? What's happening? Hey, great, goody.
I was an old Mets fan, an old Yankee fan
or Nick Fank growing up. Charlie. Yeah, I'm just saying
that this guy, the new owner, he's got some money.
Mets ownership has been cheap for a long time. But

(24:52):
I think that they will compete, now, I really do.
Uh well, let's hope shot about it. But as long
as they don't beat the Nationals, and I'm okay with
us the group. You're a Nationals guy, now, I mean,
I know, well, Charlie, let's let's go down to speaking
of the Nationals, America's team. How about that for a segue.
Jerry Jones said today on the radio in Dallas that

(25:14):
they're not, you know, considering draft if right now they'd
actually have the third pick in the draft and if
they finished that high, he said, they're not considering taking
a quarterback. Obviously. The thought is Trevor Lawrence will be
gone with the first pick us presumably, but you know,
justin field to a lot of people raving about could
he be there? If you've been a GM, if you

(25:35):
were in that situation in Dallas and you did get
a top three pick and one of those two was available,
even if you got the first pick, would you go
for one of those guys, or would you just bring
back Dak and he's your quarterback for the future. I'd
like to bring back Dak and get another player. However,
I too think this, if you can't get a deal

(25:58):
with Dak Donne and then we don't know they will.
They couldn't get one done this year. And I'm not
saying whose fault it is, but you know, sometimes the
player has certain things in his mind and you have
certain things in your mind. You can't get it done.
This whole different ballgame now because he's one year away.
He's going to be a free agent the following year.
If you can't get a deal done and you have

(26:21):
Fields rated as a star quarterback, I'm taking a guy
and then and if we get Dak signed, that's great.
If we don't, we're onto it. They have to have
a quarterback plan for the following year, whether it's Andy
Dalton or somebody. Okay, they got to have something there
to protect themselves so they're not dry. They come up

(26:42):
dry the next season. Charlie, we saw a Sunday Nights
game the Saints and the Bucks. Tom Brady no touchdowns,
three picks. What did you see there from Brady? Obviously
they apply pressure to him, the Saints, but it was
one of the worst butt kickings Tom Brady has endured
in his twenty one Your NFL crewer, think the worst one? Yeah,

(27:02):
the worst I thought. I think they lost to the
Bills thirty one nothing or something, but just about the worst.
All right, Charlie, what did you see in that from Brady? Well,
I'll tell you what. I previewed the game on Friday
for NFL Network and I talked about the pass rush
of the Saints matching up with the offensive tackles of

(27:24):
the Buccaneers, and I thought there was a big edge
for the Saints there, uh, you know, with Hendrickson coming
in there and as the you know, the right end,
and they and Cameron Jordan on the other side versus
Works the right tackle and Donovan Smith the left tackle
and ali Mark Pett was out. So that bothered me
because Brady is not going to be a mobile guy.
So I thought there was a big edge there and

(27:46):
I think that played out in the game. Charlie. Do
you think this is just a situation like we saw
last year with the forty nine Ers and the Packers.
Just a bad matchup for Green Bay. Um, do you
think that's the situation with New Orleans and Tampa And
if they meet in the playoffs, Tampa's in deep trouble.
I think the matchup is a problem, and I don't

(28:07):
think that's gonna change. They say it's hard to beat
a team three times. Hey, if we've been beaten twice,
it's hard to beat the other team. Okay, we wore
through this with the Redskins in eighty six. Giants beat
us three times. We were the second best team in football,
but maybe US three times they won the Super Bowl.
So New Orleans just had two advantages. They had the opener,

(28:29):
which was going to be their advantage because they were
a veteran team playing together, and the Tampa was coming
on a short week. So next time out probably will
be a balanced situation and Tampa will probably be better.
But I still like the matchup of the Tampa defensive
Excuse me, New Orleans pressure against the offensive line of

(28:50):
the Buccaneers. I'm speaking of the Saints. I mean they've
been doing it. They've had a lot of people out.
They didn't just got Michael Thomas back, their star wide receiver.
They were han't been like overly impressive. I had a
couple of losses, but that win there and they're starting
to get people back. I picked them to go to
the Super Bowl from the NFC. I liked them. Do

(29:10):
you like the Saints the way they're constructed and how
Drew Brees is playing, Charlie, I want to ask you
one question. Did you pick them to win the Super Bowl? No?
I picked the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson. I picked
up I had a turn in my fix this week.
I picked him to win the Super Bowl and sat

(29:30):
over the Chiefs. Okay, I look at the NFC and
I say, okay, you gotta be Tampa. I think this
is this is your championship game as Tampa New Orleans. Um,
you know, I think we can discount the NFC East. Uh.
You know, the Arizona is gonna make it interesting. But
I don't know if Arizona's defense, and we know Seattle's defense,
I don't think it's good enough. Green Bay's defense is

(29:53):
kind of suspected, and Rodgers is a you know, he
might be as good as quarterback anybody in football. So
I think it's the Saints in the bus. I just
like the matchup of the Saints side. They talked about
the pass rush against the Buck's pass protectionable. Call it, Charlie,
this looks like a great quarterback class. You got Joe Burrow,
justin Herbert and now too. I know he's only played

(30:14):
two games. Obviously looked good on Sunday if you had to,
How do you look at those guys? If you if
you can rank them those three, who do you like best, second,
third and on that? Well, I'm gonna give you an answer,
but it's a little bit unfair in the sense that
two has only played two games, right, But I don't

(30:36):
have him raided any different. But I'll say this, Herbert's
better than Herbert's come along faster. I got Burrow. One
difference between him and Herbert is turnovers. Burrow reads the
defense as well. He can make all the throws. It's
the very impressive guy, and he's not playing with a
great football team. TWA based off two games and Herbert

(30:58):
based off as how many games he's played to it,
I think is a little bit ahead of them on
the decision making and not forcing the ball. But all
three of them are terrific, they really all. Are you
worried about Burrow? I mean, obviously you said he's with
a bad team. We presume they'll get better, but we
saw it with Andrew Luck. He just got beat up

(31:20):
too much and obviously Burrows ready. Does that concern you
at all? Well not not in the decision I just
gave you on the ranking. It would concern me long term.
But I think that the Bengals understand what they've got
to do. Uh Duke Coben's an excellent personnel man. Uh

(31:42):
So I think they'll go out and get that line better.
I believe that, and they and they know they have
to do that, but more importantly, they know they got
a quarterback, all right. Charlie Cassley, former NFL GM NFL
network analysts, We appreciate the knowledge is always you were
talking about the three wins. I remember I was in

(32:03):
college when the Jets beat Miami twice during the regular season.
And what what year was that, Charlie eighty three when
uh Richard Todd lost to the Dolphins fourteen to nothing. A. J. Dowell,
you remember that that AFC Championship AFC playoff game because

(32:25):
because we played the uh the jack Dolphins team in
the Super Bowl. Okay, right, they beat the Jets to
get to tell me. You're telling me you were in
college when the Jets beat the Colts. Yeah, I not
want to tell you. Hey, hey, you know what I yeah,

(32:46):
yeah you are. I'm talking about when the Jets being
lost to the Dolphins back in the eighties. All right, okay, yeah,
all right, all right, buddy, all right, Charlie, thanks a lot, man,

that sweat. That hoodie is hot tight. Where you get
that NBA hoodie with the logo and everything? Look at it?
I know where you get that. That's nice. I know

(34:14):
I like that. That's nice. I really like it. Yeah,
I want one of those. All right. Anyway, we're coming
to you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios.
It is the Eye Couple, Chris Bruce at Rob Parker Rob.
As we know now, the players have agreed to start
the NBA players have agreed to start the season on
December twenty second, with a December first training camp starting. Okay,

(34:41):
now here's the deal. They get apparently seventy one days
off between the end of it's basically a seventy one
day off season. Let's call it that from the NBA
Finals the last game of the Finals to the start
of the December twenty second season. Um, that's that's Rob

(35:02):
checked it out. That's the shortest off season in the
history of the NBA, the NFL, the NHL, or Major
League Baseball. And some trainers talked to ESPN to day
or in a story that came out today about how
they're concerned and about the player's health and preparation for

(35:25):
the season and all that. Look, I get the concerns,
um and if I were the Lakers, especially with Lebron
James being thirty six years old, UM or about to be,
he'll be thirty six years old a few days into
the season, I would rest him. I'm sorry. I know
Lebron said he doesn't believe in old man could get hurt, though,

(35:46):
I mean you mean resting him, I mean saying yeah,
But I would. I would. I would let it if
he wanted to and it might be best for his body,
I would. I wouldn't be surprised, and I gotta be honest,
I wouldn't be. I add if some of these top
teams rested some of their guys over that first month
or so, because it is a quick quick start, and

(36:08):
you're not you're not buying tickets, like if you were
buying tickets, you well, I don't know if anybody's gonna
be back. No, I'm just saying. I'm just saying it's
it's easier to say, oh yeah, rest those guys. I'm
saying because there's no money in Bron. But if I was,
if this was a regular, regular season Chris and people
bought the tickets, I don't know if I would want
to spend three hundred dollars to go to a Lakers

(36:28):
game and Lebron's not playing. I'm just and I'm not
talking about just Lebron because I don't like it for
Kauai or anybody. Do you know what I mean? When
you paid your money? Yeah, I agree with that in general,
but I think this is a unique situation um where
you know they're coming back so quickly, particularly the Clippers
and the Lakers, and the Nuggets and the Heat and

(36:51):
you know, Boston, all these teams that went to the
conference finals or the finals. I would I would understand that,
and if I'm one of the team's fans, I would
want them to be careful with my star players so
that they can be ready, you know, midway and late
into the season. One thing that was strange in the article, though,
and it made you wonder, are obviously the trainers know

(37:12):
what they're talking about. But they also brought this up, Rob.
They said they were talking about being ramped up for
all that activity in the NBA, the cutting, the Turkey
jerk and all the jumping, leaping, sprinting, And they talked
about how the players who just you know, went deep
into the playoffs, they're getting back into that quickly. But

(37:35):
then they said it might even be harder on the
players who have not played since March and who didn't
make it to the bubble. But my thing to that is, well,
if they come back later, it's gonna be even harder
on them, you know what I'm saying. If you're saying
they've been out too long, well there's nothing you can
do about that. Yeah, it's it's a slippery slope. I

(37:55):
still think that it's it's it might wind up being
too soon. We just hope people don't get hurt, right
that seriously, that's the only thing player, Right Like, if
Lebron would get hurt, you know what I mean, because
he didn't have enough time for his body to normal rest, Chris,
that would be my concern. It just would be Yeah,
And to be honest, I mean, obviously older players are

(38:16):
more susceptible. But even if you were a younger player,
you know you just don't want any guys getting hurt
because of this, and hopefully that that won't be the case.
All right, One hour left with the Eye Couple keep
it locked.
