(00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. It is The Odd Couple.
I am Chris, he is Robbed. We are coming to
you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studio. Good
and of course there is a big Monday night football
game underway early in the second quarter, tied at seven,
(00:46):
the Rams and the Buccaneers, but Tampa Bay trying to
put a march together. They just cross midfield and are
now into Rams territory. We will keep you updated on
this action as things happened. All right, We got Bucky Brooks,
friend of the show, always great to have him or
(01:08):
he's a former NFL scout now NFL analyst for the
NFL Network. He'll join us at the bottom of this hour,
so you definitely want to stay tuned for that. All right.
We started off the show talking about, you know, really
the most unfortunate incident of the weekend, which was Joe Burrow.
Rob was off to a tremendous start winning football games.
(01:33):
But he was playing well, I think right, that was obvious. Yep.
He was looking like, you know, everything you'd want from
a top pick in the draft. And you know, he's
got the swagger, he's got the confidence, he had the
physical ability. He looked like a guy that was you know,
(01:54):
en route to start him. Perhaps it's obviously early, but
when you looked at the way he did it, um
it was with his arm. He had some toughness and
even after he got injured. Uh, he tweeted out, you know,
it'll take something to the effect of it will take
more than this to hold me down. I'll see you
(02:14):
guys next year. He won't be ready. Uh. It appears
for the start of the season. This usually takes about
a year or so to heal and the and the
injury Rob it's not only a torn acl as was
first reported, but also a torn MCL, so it's a
it's a bad injury. Yeah, it's a bad injury. And
(02:35):
a lot of people, some reporters, there been some articles
written blaming the Bengals and you know, saying they didn't
put a good offensive line in front of him, you know, right,
playing for a battle organization. They yeah, all of that,
and um, I want to hear your response first, but
(02:57):
I got a feeling as well. But what do you
think of this notion that this is the Bengals farm
it's a poppy cock, boulder dash or whatever else you
want to say, Chris hog wash. That's right, boodle. People
have been bamboozled Uto exactly the whole nine yards. And
(03:22):
the bottom line is, as we say all the time
on this show, you can get hurt on every single
play playing football. And if it wasn't this, say that
he had an offensive line and he still got hit
or you know, got injured, Chris, or what it can happen.
We've seen guys pull stuff and pop stuff Chris running
(03:45):
untouched in the NFL, so I right, in practice right
nine contact injury exactly, and he was hurt bad. And
my only point to this is it's too easy to just,
you know, rip on the Bengals. And I get it,
the Bengals aren't the greatest organization. But what organization, Chris,
(04:08):
that made the playoffs seven times in the previous sixteen
years or whatever it was? Right, They didn't win a
playoff game, but they weren't there. They weren't a man straight.
That's right, that's right. They're a lot worse than that.
So so all I'm saying is, I don't think it's
right to put the blame injuries happened in the NFL.
We've seen it so many times. I don't think they're
(04:30):
a negligence, a negligent at all. Yeah, Rob, it took
about two years, but you're I'm rubbing off on you.
You're getting smarter because you're agreeing with me more today.
So with me, I went first, how about that? Now
I feel the same way. I can't put this on
(04:54):
the Bengals. Now. Were they throwing the ball maybe a
little too much? Forty times a game? He had to
most attempts of any quarterback in the league. So yeah, okay,
I can get that. However, as Rob said, injuries it's
a part of football. And beyond that, if you want
(05:15):
to talk about, oh, they threw the ball too much,
they didn't run it enough, you know, the let's look
around the league and we can figure out other We
can see other quarterbacks, Rob, who are being used or overused.
If people want to say they put too much on
(05:37):
Joe Burrow and that's why he got injured. Well, could
we say they put too much on Russell Wilson in Seattle?
Could we say, I mean, you want to talk about, oh,
he doesn't have a good offensive line, Well, what about
Carson Wentz if Philadelphia playing with a mismatched offensive line?
Dak Prescott who obviously ended up getting hurt, but it
(05:59):
wasn't because of the offensive line. It was just a
fluke running play. But he didn't have an offensive line either.
I mean, you play with what you have. They couldn't
just snap their fingers and oh we got a good quarterback.
Now we're gonna have a great offensive line. You gotta
draft people. Christian signed a free agent two to fit
the spot that you didn't draft. It takes time. It
(06:22):
just not overnight, the Rams through justin Herbert out there
or I'm sorry the Chargers. Chargers at moments before the
game they told him you're starting kid. You think he
was ready, They threw him out there, and obviously he's
played great. But I'm just saying, if he got hurt,
(06:42):
somebody could say, oh, they were negligent. They didn't give
him proper preparation. Heck, that's the same organization that accidentally
was it they punctured the kidney robg of Tyrode Taylor
the lung they accidentally punctured the lung of Tyrode's Taylor.
So I'm just saying, you want to talk about bad
(07:03):
organizations and every how about the Indianapolis Colts. I mean,
Bill Polian is a Hall of Fame general manager. Now
he had left just before they got Andrew Luck. But
Andrew Luck took so many hits. Look at the beating
twenty nine, right, I mean, I'm just saying, like, come on,
we can always find an excuse. And you know, the
(07:27):
bottom line is this is a physical game. And I
don't care how many rules you soften. You still are
being hit by three hundred pounds linemen and that they
don't want to hurt you like that, but still they
want to pop you. But they've done everything Chris to
(07:48):
protect the quarterback. Everything. When I remember growing up in
high school, remember the in the grasp or you didn't
even have to, you know, like throw the guide down.
He just had his jersey. They would consider it as sack.
If you remember the famous Michael Strahan's sack to get
the record against Brett far If you remember that, Chris,
he didn't even tell him, barely touched him. It was
(08:10):
like the worst sack. Didn't far Off give it. Far
Off agreed with it. Didn't far Off give that just
like fell down. Yeah what I'm saying, like, and I
think he touched him once he fell down and they consent.
They called it a sack because it was behind the scrimmage.
It was pretty weak. Yeah. But to your point though, Rob,
I mean, they've done everything. They can't anything else. He's
(08:32):
gonna be flag football for the quarterbacks. So it's unfortunate.
You hate to see it, you know. Obviously in Cincinnati
had brought to mind Carson Palmer, who had a bad
injury early in his career there. He rebounded. He never
(08:52):
he had a good career, probably didn't be He looked
like Rob before he got hurt. He was on his
way to something really special. Didn't quite do that, but
still came back, had a good career. And you know,
I think that that Borrow will come back and rebound
(09:13):
from this physically. So I think it was just in
one of those unfortunate incidents that happens in a collision
sport like football, yep. And I just think it's too
easy to poll on the Bengals because of their history, Chris.
And they haven't won a Super Bowl. They've been a
couple of times, and they've had good teams and had
(09:34):
a ton of good players in that organization. They just
haven't been able to seal the deal. And with Marvin Lewis,
you know, they got to the playoffs seven times, Chris,
but they never even won a playoff game, not once.
So people look like they could easily pick on the
organization and dump on it, you know what I mean,
because they don't have any any winning history. If this
(09:54):
happened and Bill Belichick was the coach, you think anybody
would be like, oh see, look at what they're doing. No,
you wouldn't hear that, you know what I mean. It
would be an unfortunate situation, and that's all people would
say it is. No, I totally agree. I mean, you
could look at a I mean, if you if you
take this thing to the you know, in degree, I mean,
(10:16):
you could talk about what did the Panthers do wrong
by Cam Newton by running him too much? You know,
are the are the raiding? What if if Lamar Jackson
somehow got hurt. Would would people right? They ran him
too much? We've never seen the quarterback run that much?
Is that what people would say? I mean, you can
always come up, like I said, with an excuse, but
(10:40):
the fact is, it just is a part of the game.
It's unfortunate. You hope and pray that he's able to
come back and be the player that a lot of
us think he can be, that he looks like he
could be. And you hope for that organization too, because
they've they've had some bad breaks over the years and
they need a good break. It looked like they had
(11:01):
finally gotten a good break when Joe Burrow went there,
and uh looked like he was gonna become a star
and rob in that division. I mean, I don't think
Baltimore is going anywhere. Pittsburgh definitely isn't going anywhere, and
the Browns are seven and three, which is amazing. Yeah,
and I think they found a formula. You know, people
(11:23):
might want to beat up on Baker Mayfield. Okay, he's
not gonna be going though, Chris, Yeah no, And I'm
fine with that though. I mean, he's not gonna be here,
and Rodge he's not gonna be Pat Mahomes. He's not
gonna be some sup at least from what I see,
he's not gonna be a superstar quarterback. They accept he
can be a game manager right and make a few
plays here, and I think they've accepted that that they
have some talented running backs. Nick is a star and Karee.
(11:48):
Both of them are running with right so that they
can run the football. Chris, you know there's certain third
down plays you gotta make up. You gotta get a pass.
You can't get third down yardage on the ground. Those
are the throws who are have to be able to make.
But as long as you're getting the yards on the ground,
if you're picking up four and a half five yards
of rush, what are you doing right right right now?
(12:09):
If he can be, he can be. You know, he
doesn't have seemed like to have the personality of a
game manager, but you know who was like that, Rob
Remember the Jim McMahon when the Bears wanted I mean
he had manager yep with all his you know, he
was such a colorful character and kind of like Baker
(12:30):
even more so. But you know, he managed the game
for him, and I think that's what they're doing with Baker,
and I think he's good enough to make throws here
or there. They just show up everything around him. We'll
see what they can do. But yeah, the Bengals tough blow,
but we don't blame the organization. Of course, you can
look at some things they could have done differently, but
(12:50):
at the end of the day, it's just a part
of the game. But that's how robbing I feel. How
do you feel? Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven ninety nine, six sixty three sixty nine.
Did the Bengals make a mistake by letting Joe Burrow
continue to throw the ball behind that bad offensive line?
(13:10):
Are they to blame for this injury? Or is it
just football? You'll turn away with Chris and Rob The
Couple Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker
weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. All right, it's The
(13:31):
I Couple, Chris and Rob coming to you live from
the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios studios. On a Magic
City Monday, we got a barn burner brewing in Tampa
Bay Buccaneers fourteen rams, fourteen, four and a half minutes
left in the second quarter, and Jared Goff is just
(13:54):
having his way with the Tampa Bay defense. Is he
sixteen for eighteen, one hundred and fifty one yards, two touchdowns?
No pick? Brady's fine, he's got one TD. Leonard Fournett's
rush for another touchdown. But you know, right now, it's
the Jared Goff Show. So and Chris, I do want
(14:17):
to say, and we'll talk more about it before this week,
is before the end of the week. If you're an
Odd Couple fan and you love listening to the show,
and you love the drops and some of the stuff
that we say on this program, you will be able
to get your own file of those drops and of
the opening theme song and some of the Chris's sayings,
(14:39):
some of my sayings have wing'll be a lot of fun.
It will be I think people will like that. So
there'll there'll be more information on how you can get
that and where you probably have to go to get
rob dot com. But you will be able to get that.
A lot of people ask us about that stuff. So
finally your chance. All right, you're turned away in eight seven,
(15:00):
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven ninety nine,
six sixty three sixty nine. Or the Bengals to blame
for their budding star quarterback getting hurt. All right, let's
kick it off with a Ray and Acron. You're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up right, hey,
Rob and Chris. I appreciate you, guys man, thank you,
(15:21):
thank you. I think it was a fifty fifty deal
with that. Uh, with that in with that bingle situation,
they could have kept somebody like that. They could have
kept Dalton and brought him off the bench, brows off
the bench, and brought him in slowly. But that's football,
Like you said, you know, he was ready to play.
He looked like he got he tuned up one way
(15:43):
the other. Whether you got everybody put their pants on
and they pad up and they go out there, and uh,
that's just the way, that's the way, you know what football. Ray,
You could have brought him along slowly in the second half.
He still could have got hurt right in the game, right,
That what I wanted. You brought me to the pandemic
And listen, Margaret, the King, they brought his home his
(16:07):
childhood home in Atlanta, and they had the King Center.
So Ro Muhammad Ali right, thank you, Sorr, Billy and Gainesville.
You're on the I couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up,
Billy oh Man, Christy Bob. It's such an honor to
be on the Still and Alvin listener. And I love
the work you guys do, so thank you for having me.
(16:28):
I just want to say, I don't blame I don't
think Joe Burrow and the Bengals. I don't think the
Bengals should be to blame here. I mean, they're obviously
not in contention for the AFC North and they're trying
to see what they have out of their quarterback. They
lost Joe Mixed a couple weeks ago, and they're not
going to have him for a while now because he's
on injured reserved. So why not see what kind of
game manager you have in Joe Burrow. He's playing like
(16:49):
a top ten quarterback, maybe top fifteen, of course. But
I don't blame them. I mean, you didn't see you
didn't see Indianapolis blaming necessarily. You didn't see his fans
blaming the frame for Andrew. Now. I didn't like him.
They made a lot of mistakes with him, Yeah, they did.
They put him on the line because they didn't have
(17:09):
a running game at the time. And it's the same
we saw Drew Brees get multiple rib fractures last week,
and we didn't see the Saints getting blamed for it.
We just saw the fact that they hated the idea
of Taysom Hill starting. So I don't think the branch
dont should be blamed. I think they should be commended
for sticking to their quarterback and wanting him to make
big plays because they have a lot of high hopes
for them in the future, no doubt. Great call, Billy,
(17:32):
Thank you for your insight. We like that. How about
John in New Zealand? He called back, Chris, he got
through John. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports, right, Wow,
good day fellas. Good Did I have you on my man? Yeah?
I guess I just wanted to do to say for once,
your logic is spurious, right, because this is all about probability. Okay,
(17:55):
so let's take it. For instance, did I hear you
ride Roup when you said that you had come to
New Zealand before? Yes, I have been and you and
you want to come from the player. Yeah, that's right.
I do want to come because you guys have all
that Lamb there that I need to eat while I'm
over there. Well, speaking about about Lamb and Big Magic
(18:19):
City Monday. So if he's coming back, it's highly likely
that he's coming to see his kids. That's what were
you here for? How long were you here for? Rob?
I was there for about two weeks. Yeah, my kids
that I left behind. Yeah, there, so that's at least
three right, there might be about twenty years old from
(18:40):
the last time I was there. It's been that long given, Yeah,
you see. So so it's all about probability. You put
the poop who king here for two weeks, and the
probability is there, we go. So you So, if you
think about what's happenings. If this quarterback was about to
be set was on is in line to be sacked
(19:01):
fifty times in the season plus all the other hits,
the likelihood that this kind of injury would happen goes up.
And if you have a probability of something that you
that is a valuable investment being damaged, and you increase
the probability of a bad event occurring, then you've you've
been poor in your management. On Carson Wentz and Russell
(19:26):
Wilson have each been sacked more than Joe Burrow, so
are they next? But that's also but that's also a
spiritus argument because just because somebody else does something poorly
doesn't mean that this is not poor. Right. So if
you pointed somebody else and say, well, I mean you
get hit. It's football. The probability, right, We've said it before.
(19:51):
It once you step out on that field, you can
get hurt. It just is what it is. But interesting
argument by a man down a New Zealand. All Right,
we got Bucky Brooks coming up next. But first, Fox
Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation.

We got a special announcement in celebration of Fox Sports
Radio's twentieth anniversary, we will be naming the top twenty
athletes of the past twenty years, from two thousand all
the way through twenty twenty. Really it's the top twenty
(20:33):
athletes of the century because we're in the twenty first century.
We even voted on this Top twenty List. Did you vote?
I voted? Did you vote? Yeah? Of course I did?
You know me? I'm a team player, right, good? All right? Now,
they haven't told us, as you know, Rob, the final
results yet, so we're in suspense just like all of
you listeners. But we are honored to be the ones
(20:55):
presenting this Top twenty list to you the audience. I
can't Rob. This is an honor that we're the ones
to break the list. But it's gonna be great. You
gotta tune into the Eye Couple right here on Fox
Sports Radio at this time tomorrow as nine thirty pm Eastern,
(21:16):
six thirty pm Pacific, as we begin revealing the Top
twenty list. Tomorrow will unveil number sixteen through twenty of
the best athletes of the century. And this is in
every sport. In fact, athletes from twelve different sports crack
the top twenty. So will your favorite athlete make the cut?
(21:39):
That is the question. Tune in tomorrow at this time
and you will find out. I can't wait, Rob and
Dan Bayer, we gotta give him credit because Dan Bayer
came up with the idea. This is Dan Bayer's idea.
If you know Dan, Dan is the update anchor for
Doug Gottlip Show. He has a show on the weekends
as well. He has a great boys, great guy Dan
(22:02):
uh and it has went on the hot seat. Yes,
it was his idea and he put this whole thing
together and put it in motion and uh, you know
he's gonna be a great thing. Yes. And speaking of
Dann Buyer, Bucky Brooks will be on with him right
here in Fox Sports Radio on Thursday. And we just
happened to have Bucky Brooks, the former NFL scout and
(22:23):
analysts for NFL Network. Bucky, what up? What's happening? What's
going on all this? It's great to have you on. Man,
it's so much. I mean, there's so many storylines right now.
I want to join them in the NFL. Yeah, Blucky,
help me with this. The tour. Do you like what
went down with Brian Flores, you know, pulling him. I
(22:47):
know it seemed like he was trying to get that
win and go back to the comfortable pair of slippers
that he's used to wearing instead of the new ones.
But is that the right move to do to tour?
You know, just a few weeks into his NFL Korea
I didn't. I wouldn't gonna love me the moose because
I told when they made the moose to go to
sea that it was permanent. And it was permanent based
(23:08):
on the fact that they wanted to see not only
what they had, but they wanted to get the clock
started with the Rickie quarterback, see how he performs, see
what they need to add to the offense so he
could be at his best. And you know, they started
off three and off, and so to me, it just
seemed like a very quick hook. I do understand though,
(23:29):
that Brian Floyd comes from New England and we saw
Bill Belichick snatch Jed stood him out of the game
for going to pick six. I guess the Jets when
it was my fun duty and so maybe they just
go up out in a different way and treating the quarterback.
But I can't say that I was in love with
the way that they treated the Ricky starter Bucky. There
was a lot of controversy, or some controversy in New
(23:50):
Orleans about Taysom Hill getting the start over Jameis Winston.
Everybody thought it was gonna be Winston, but I gotta
be honest, I was surprised. I didn't expect much from Hill.
I thought he played very well. I don't know that
his style. I actually don't think his style is sustainable
for very long. But what did you think of first
(24:12):
him getting to start? You know, there was reports that
some players you know, were a little bothered that he
got it over Jamis, But what do you think of
him getting the knod some players being upset about it,
and then the way he went out and performed, which
I thought was good against Atlanta. Yeah, I'm surprised. But
then when I go back and I think about it,
(24:32):
because when the report came out, I was kind of
stunned because we all assumed that Jamis would get the
knob based on how they gave it to Teddy Bridgewater.
But what we should always pay attention to is the
bottom line. When they paid Casam hill Or twenty one
million and a half dollars over a two year two
years to sign him as a restricted free agent, we
(24:54):
should have known that they had serious plans for him,
because you just don't pay someone we had amount of
money who had as like two hundred and twenty five
scrimming yards before the game, and so they really viewed
him as a quarterback. And when I talked with some
people down there, they said that Sean Payden really believes
that he can be a high end quarterback until he
relish the opportunity to give him the start. And I
(25:16):
think what you saw as you saw that Sean Payton
has been looking at all of these officers and coordinators
has success to these athletic quarterbacks, and he wanted to
get in on the fund a little bit. And so
you saw them has a very basic path to game,
but they're a little more dynamic in the running game
with the quarterbacks on run and those things. I think
the guys that you allude to that maybe upset where
(25:37):
Taysom Hill a quarterback, are probably some of the pass
catches because they probably didn't think that the ball would
come to the direction enough for them to continue to
be viable options in this office and put it the
numbers and they want to put up and also Bucky,
you know, I mean, Jameis Winston's resume is better, you
know what I mean? You know, this is an out
(25:58):
where people look at it and go, you know, like
you just can't squeeze somebody in who hasn't earned it,
arms and worth it because a lot of guys have
put in that. So I think they look at us
that this guy led the league in patching yards a
year ago. We get the thirty interceptions, but let's not
act like he doesn't have a better resume. Well, I mean,
I know, I do think it's funny, right because the
(26:19):
same people that have say like Jamis doesn't deserve it,
the same ones that are co signing for Ryan Fitzpatrick
to be the starter. Yes, it's like one of those things.
And so I think with Jamis, he has to just
keep working. He has to buy the sign because he's
a little bit to be getting shance. But I do
believe the say they have to know what they have
and takes them hill at some point because they're paying
(26:41):
him a lot of money. I mean, really, he was
making more money than Alvin Kamari, and so they had
to see if he could be a legitimate quarterback. And
also he's thirty thirty one years old. You want to
make that determination quickly because he's after the quarterback in
as much as we talked about the end is near
for Kim's so it's the same deal. So that's the thing.
(27:05):
They gotta put them on the field they gotta play,
they gotta see where they got. Do you think that,
let you know, let's say Breeze retires after this season,
do you think Taysom Hill can be you know, they're
starting quarterback and then remain one of the top teams
in the NFL with him as the quarterback. I just
feel like the style, the way he runs. He doesn't
(27:26):
run it like Lamar or you know Kyler. You know
these guys that are shifty and don't take tons of hits.
He's a physical runner. I just feel like he might
get injured, especially when you look at his injury history
at b YU. What do you think, you know, how
good could he be and could he stay healthy in
the future. Well, I mean he looked the healthy. He
(27:48):
is always kind of random because he was hurt every
year US at BYUM, So when people say like, oh,
how did you get drafted up because he was hurt played,
so he don't really for a year. When it comes
down to can they perceive with him as the franchise
quarterback after you read yeah they can, I think it'll
look a lot like Josh Allen in Buffalo. I think
(28:10):
he puts a little more pressure on the play caller
to always be one step editor, curve use your creativity,
maybe more so in the running game as opposed to
the passing game. But chasing Hill is fine. I think
the next two or three weeks we're really get a
true assessment on who he is and what he is
because the first game is always a tough game, and
(28:32):
Lena didn't know how that offense is going to live
with Jason Meal. But man, that you have evidence of
him a quarterback and you can link the plays with
what he was able to do successfully, you can then
build a better defensive game plan to deal with him.
And so we'll see if he's able to continue to
evolve as people catch up with him. But yeah, for
the first performance, pretty solid. Definitely, Bucky, you're talking about
(28:55):
people catching up. I mean it does appear that people
have caught up to this point with Lamar Jackson. They
actually are out of the playoffs right now, which is
shocking to say. They're in ac right now in the AFC,
and then they got Pittsburgh Thursday without mark Ingram and JK. Dobbins,
So that's gonna be a tough one. Um, what do
(29:17):
you do you think that Baltimore? You know, is no
longer a contender, you know, or like, what do you
see going on there and what do they need to
do to kind of write that ship a couple of
things that are going on in Baltimore. Everyone always points
to Lamar Jackson, but before you get to Lamar Jackson,
(29:38):
the offensive line is not the same as it was.
You lose Marshion me and the off season. He is
a Hall of Fame caliber player. You don't have the
same personnel. A right guard, Ronnie Stanley, who was a
Pro Bowl left tackle, he is removed shortly after signing
a big contract. You now move your right tackle, Orlando
Brown the left tackle, which is not necessarily his natural spot,
(30:01):
and so he is struggled and you're elevating guys. You
had Dj Fluker, who's a long term guard playing tackle,
and so this offers a line is a mess first
and foremost. They can't run the ball the way they
want to run it because they're inconsistent as a point
of attack. Lamar Jackson hasn't been the same, but when
you really look at his numbers, he haven't had a
tremendous fall off in terms of his passing numbers. I
(30:24):
think the thing that you have is you have Greg Roman,
the fake caller, maybe overthinking it when it comes to
Lamar Jackson. They change their offense again this year after
having so much success this season to go. They want
to get more athletes, more exploseness, faster guys on the field.
And when you get all those little white ELPs on
the field, the dvs come on the field. So then
(30:45):
there's more speed on the field to make gate what
Lamar Jackson does as a runner. They needn't been able
to get away from guys like last year, right because yeah,
because they're playing it's more guys that are like him,
whereas last year they had two and three tighten is
on the field, tight ends bringing linebackers, an extrag lineman
on the field, so man, he has a significant advantage. Well,
(31:07):
Greg Roman wants to hopeully know I have and spread
it out and throw the ball because I'm sure privately
he would like to get ahead. Job and sometimes you
feel like you have to show that all and so
right now it's just a complete mess. The offense doesn't
have an identity. They're struggling, and yeah, Pittsburgh is looking
to put the beat down on them because it's always
personally these two to use contract. Hey, last thing real quick.
(31:28):
In Chicago, Matt Naggi still has a named a quarterback
who should be the starting quarterback? Man, it's bad, definitely,
Jim Jamal, Jim Man. I don't know, somebody, somebody because
both of these guys x Roseman Calward, I don't know
like these two guys. I mean, I mean, I don't
know if even one gives them a legitimate chance to win.
(31:51):
It's hard to go back to mister Trubisky, right because
Matt Naggie, I mean, everyone knows that Nick Foles is
this guy. This is the guy that's flat flaw, has
been a flaw since he got to Chicago. They can't
do it. And so man, you got Jubisky, but Jubisky
confidences and the gutter and then he been kind of
hurt with the shoulders. So what did you get from that?
(32:13):
I don't know. I just know this. I know. Until
they embrace who they are as a team, which is
a defense first team, they have a tough time because
the way that you have to play in Chicago, you
gotta run the football, you gotta play good defense, and
you have to hope that the quarterback can make some
play man. Maggie is trying to do all this creative
que stuff. It just doesn't fly for whatever reason in
the Windy City. And he better be careful because if
(32:36):
you lose too many, he's gonna be out in the street.
All right, that's our man. Bucky Brooks from the NFL Network, Bucky,
great stuff. Man. Appreciate your family, all right, man, appreciate
it you guys all right? Brother, peace more our couple
coming your way. Keep it locked. Fox Sports Radio. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple with
(32:57):
Chris Brussar then Rob Parker week days at in pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeart Radio app. It's the I Couple of christ and
Rob wrapping up a Magic City Monday, as we're coming
to you live as always from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio Studios. Always good thing to wrap it up on
(33:19):
a Magic City Monday. Yes indeed, yes indeed, And Rob,
I gotta say this. Last night's game Kansas City chiefs
Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders are pretty good like the
Raiders that was shot. Christine. I was shocked considering you know,
Rob g I know he wants to chime in with
(33:40):
all the COVID going on, I didn't think they had
a shot to win that game. I picked City to win.
I was surprised Mahomes had to come through a superman
at the end to win it for them. Yeah, and
you and I both took them with the points we
thought they went by by eight or more because or
by more than eight because they also were upset right
about the Raiders driving around their stadium after they's right season.
(34:04):
So yeah, I think the Raiders are tough. I think
they match up well with Kansas City, and if they
meet in the playoffs, that could be. Could be. I
mean Steelers could be tough on Kansas City as well,
but that could think the Steelers could give a Kansas
City a run. I still don't think the Steelers are
that could. I think it's a fraudulent Tenant Old Chris,
(34:26):
and I know they've won a couple of games, but
looking more earlier and Baltimore had the four turnovers in
that game. I'm just saying, uh yeah, but you gotta
get off Steelers. I'm not saying I'm just saying they're
not as good as as the Tenant Old record. That's
that's what I'm probably not good. Probably not because that way,
(34:47):
if they were as good as ten and Old, they'd
be the definitive best team in the league. And nobody's
saying that. Think about think about I don't you know.
I'm sorry Marty. I know Marty's a steel A fan
in Kentucky and he's mad right now. But I just
don't feel like I've seen really good teams like well,
I say, like they got a chance. I still don't
think they're winning the super Bowl at ten and all. Well,
(35:07):
I think Kansas City's the best team in the league,
but I don't look at when they struggled against Dallas
and people all they look, it's the NFL. They're gonna lose.
I would think they're gonna lose the game sooner or later,
probably to an inferior team. You know, it just happens
in the NFL. So but you know, whatever the case,
they they look good and the Raiders look good. But
(35:29):
you said it, Rob Pat Mahomes came through like Superman,
and Travis Kelsey I thought made a very accurate statement earlier.
It was actually last week. Here's what he said about
his quarterback. Yeah, it's hard coming in your first year
and throwing from fifty touchdowns to five thousand yards simply
(35:49):
because everyone expects that help you every single year from
that point on. I think a lot of people taking
for granted. But in this building, we know we got
the best player in the National Football League. So we
just so we hold our end of the bargain and
we make sure that we're ready to go out there
every Sunday, because yeah, I mean, I'm gonna disagree with him.
I'm gonna disagree. I think people know he's a great player.
(36:11):
I don't think anybody discounts him. And what Kelsey's not
being honest is last year Chrissy went from fifty touchdowns
to twenty six. So there wasn't a lot of buzz
about him last year. It was all about, uh, you know,
chat you he didn't play poorly last year. No, but
I'm just saying, but it was it was about Jackson
what right last year? So so there wasn't a big
(36:32):
buzz about Patrick Mahomes during the regular No, I'm saying
during the regular season, wasn't um I thought he was,
Like I do, think Mahomes gets his respect. I think
he is why anybody disrespects. Right. I think he's widely
regarded as the best quarterback in the NFL. Would you
agree with that? Like, I think, yeah, nobody's disputing that,
(36:56):
So I'm with you. He gets his love. But Rob,
I just think I think we're watching something really special
and and I do think parts like when he said,
people take it for granted, Like I think he's the
front runner for the MVP, and I think a big
part of it. Every game hasn't been so spectacular. But
(37:17):
I don't think he's had a clunker. And I was
looking real quick, I know we don't have a lot
of time. If he doesn't come back and they don't win,
do you think he's the MVP? I still think until
that point, but it's closer because I think Rogers is second.
He's had a huge clunker and then they you know
(37:38):
they've lost. It's not just his fault they lost. But
you know he didn't say a couple of games, right,
I mean they had a couple of bad fumbles, right, right, right?
But I think even as I was looking, you're right,
my homes wouldn't have it like a great game. But
then he leaves this great comeback with a minute forty left,
you know, so he's uh, this dude's special man. Obviously,
it's too way too premature to say he could be.
(38:01):
He's the goat. But like I've always said, he's got
that potential. He just got to keep it up and
keep winning. All right, it's the eye couple. We enjoyed
the last three hours. Hope you did as well. See
you tomorrow. Peace,
