(00:21):
s R. You're listening to the Best of the Odd
Couple with Chris Rush and Rod Harker. Rob speaking of
having a rough go of it, You know, we talked
about times are tough. Obviously during COVID Carson Wentz. We
all know it's just been a bad year. He's first

(00:45):
in the league and interceptions. He leads in sacks, which
isn't isn't all his fault? I mean some of it. Yeah,
he holds the ball along, but obviously that's the offensive
line too. He's thirty first in the thirty two team
league in completion percentage, thirtieth in yards per attempt. It's
just gone all bad. Now they're three and seven one,
three to seven and one, and they can't even say

(01:07):
they lead. At least they lead the division anymore, like
they have most of the year. But it's been rough
and he's taking a lot of hits and a lot
of heat. And this week Rob apparently reportedly Carson Wentz
addressed his team and took accountability for how poorly he

(01:28):
has played and players are coming out defensive end. Brandon
Graham has you know, praised him, for lack of a
better word, for taking accountability. Doug Peterson, the head coach,
has said, it's good that he's, you know, being a
little more vulnerable and being more accessible and taking accountability.

(01:50):
No understanding, he's got to play better. And what do
you make of this? I mean, you know, is this
too little me? Later? Do you think it's just unnecessary?
Are great? Yeah? I'm kind of torn. Uh, I'm glad
it wasn't an apology. Accountability is fine if you want
to just say, hey, I wish I had played better,

(02:11):
or I wish I had played better during this time.
There's a lot of other stuff to go on there.
And we've always said this, Chris, both of us quarterbacks
get too much praise when team wins, and they take
too much of the blame when when things don't go
so so that just comes with the job. This is
not about Carson Wentz, It's about any quarterback in the NFL, Right,

(02:32):
we just or college major college program or whatever. But um,
the notion like he has to apologize, Like I would
be totally against that. It's what you would apologize only
under one circumstance, like you didn't give your all. You
were you were lost, focused, and you were doing something

(02:54):
that game when the coach calls you and exactly that
that that you apologize for and say, hey, you know what,
I didn't give my all. I didn't do everything I
should have. I wasn't up studying film and the playbook.
I was out partying and hanging out. Then you might
I could accept that, but but to try and things

(03:16):
not work out, I mean, there's nothing to apologize for.
I don't think he wants to play this poorly, Chris.
It just happened. And here's the funny thing. I looked
it up about a year ago, a little, a little
less Chris. December thirtieth, the headline on a CBS sports

(03:36):
dot Com story after the Eagles beat the Giants was
Carson wins carries Eagle to NFC East title, helping Philadelphia
overcome numerous injuries. It is just shocking how one year,

(03:56):
you know what I mean, Like the difference between what
happened a year ago and now and where he is.
Last year had finally they made the playoffs three first
three times in a row, but that was the first
time he led them. You know, he was the guy
who left them first time, Nick Foles. It was Nick Foles.
So last year was the first one and then here
he is, like, maybe he could have built on that,

(04:18):
and I know they are injuries and stuff, but he
just didn't. Even with the injuries, he just hasn't played
well enough. So it's amazing on where things have turned
in less than a year. But accountability, it's never too
late to take accountability. I don't think it's that amazing
how things have turned, because, let's face it, he was
okay last year, and at times late he was really good.

(04:42):
He was really good late, but for most of the
season he was just okay, pretty good. And of course,
you know, the year before they were five and six
with Carson Wentz and then he gets hurt. Nick Foles
comes in and leads them to the playoffs and actually
plays well in the playoffs and almost leads him to
the super Bowl again. So I don't think he's played

(05:05):
well enough where you just chalk this off as a
bad season. He'll get over it. Is that what you
told him off somebody else? No, I'm just saying, like
I don't think. I mean, look at Lamar. I just
want to make people getting off Lamar Jackson. And he
was much better than Carson Wentz has ever been last year.
So I don't think it's surprising how things have turned

(05:27):
as far as the reaction to him. Yeah, how badly
he's played, that's a bit surprising, I think, Rob, Because remember,
we gotta put this in context. This is not just
the guy that has been either well liked, loved in
the locker room, or even just so. So this is

(05:47):
a guy that report there's numerous reports that have come
out and said he is not well liked at all
by his teammates. Don't have They've used words, they've called him. So,
when you're the quarterback, you and you gotta be a
leader of men and dudes have to be woople don't
have to like you the words what quarterback? Do you

(06:11):
know that's been It's about respect, it ain't about liking.
I don't care if people like me. Right now and
now you I'll tell you what I mean. I'm talking
about the question that everybody give me like you. I'm
I'm I'm just telling you people don't have to like you.
Can you give me a name? No, I'm telling you

(06:32):
what what part quarterback is different? Rob, It's not a
small forward, it's a quarterback. It's not an offensive tackle.
And I'm and if they I'm not saying that you
gotta be chummy chummy with everybody, right, respect is always
more important than being liked, but still maybe well liked

(06:53):
in the perfect phrase, but that they they they like
you enough to follow you, or they believe in you,
or they don't think you're a jerk. I mean, that's
all we're talking about. And the words were described to
describe when selfish. These are quotes, uncompromising, egotistical, He plays favorites,

(07:13):
he doesn't like to be questioned, he doesn't practice what
he preaches, he doesn't take accountability. These are all from
stories we've had. Brian Westbrook, who's still plugged in with
the Eagles, was a very good player there. He told us,
you know, they felt like Carson didn't like to be coached.
So I do think with that context it's good for

(07:36):
him to kind of stand up and who knows what
he said. You know, we don't have quotes from his
little speech. Maybe said, Look, I know I've been a jerk.
You know, I've been pointing the fingers at other guys,
and I've been taken accountability myself. If that's what he did,
I think that's good. Now. I think it's been so

(07:58):
long that the only thing that's going to get that
locker room behind him is him playing much better on
the football field. But this could be a step in
the right direction, depending on what he said and how
he said it. Yeah, I just I think I think
all this stuff is just the bye bye product of losing.

(08:22):
That's all this stuff. People have wards all the time,
but winning, but winning usually covers up the wards and
people are accepting of it when you win. If Bill
Belichick was the way he is Chris and he was
still in Cleveland and they weren't winning, it wasn't acceptable
because he wasn't winning. When he goes to New England

(08:42):
and wins, people just have to accept him as who
he is because he's He's been able to earn that
right because he's won and you can't question it. He
was questioned when he was in Cleveland and you know
that by the reporters and people were back because he
wasn't winning, so that they weren't going to accept that
from a guy who doesn't win. And when you win,

(09:06):
you get away with that. People just say, Wow, that's
just the way it is. He's one of these perfect
people and everything has to be right and he's he's
just a perfection. I've heard people make excuses for difficult
people all the time, but the only people who win.
When you don't win, you're a jerk. We don't like him,
we don't like Yes, I get all that. I just

(09:28):
think that's not anything that just reflects on him. I
think that happens in sports all the time, that's all. Yeah.
I mean, look, we talked about it yesterday. You know,
there are teams where guys didn't get along and they
still were able to win. But I think, but everybody's different,
you know, And the fact is Carson Winz hasn't won anything.

(09:50):
And even if I mean take away this year, he
still doesn't win anything. I mean, we yeah, he played
well last year at the end of the year, but
I'm not getting palm palms out for who didn't let up.
I think a team that won the Super Bowl two
years before, but it was almost in the NFC Championship.
I think you're being unfair because last year, with all

(10:14):
the injuries and where they were, and they put out
guys who were didn't even play receiver in the NFL
and they beat the Cowboys in a big game for
the division. No, I can't say that, but he played
well last year. He didn't give him at the don't
act like he's never played well, Chris, I have never

(10:35):
said that I gave him appropriate credit. I have no
idea why you I gave him. I gave him appropriate credit.
I said he played well. I started off this segment
by saying that he's played well. You know. But don't
get I'm not praising him. You act like he won
a super Bowl and he didn't. So you you to me,

(10:57):
you gave him too much praise. I gave him the
adequate amount. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk

You had the Heisman done to you too. Our man,

(11:19):
he's a former NFL offensive line mean fix Sports radio
weekend host and look before he is a true renaissance man.
So before we start talking football with him, he's the
great e from Salion. But we gotta let you know.
He also has his own production company with his partner
Dion Taylor, and their latest film they've had several. Their

(11:41):
latest is called Fatau and it's out December eighteenth. It's
a steamy and I say it against steamy psychological thriller
directed by his man, Dion Taylor, and it starts check
this out. Oscar winners Hillary Swank and Michael Elie give
it up for the renaissance man. Yo, I love psychological thrillers.

(12:11):
Can you give me a little something about it? Tell
us a little bit about it. It's good man, and
I can tell you this. It's just watching the trailer.
It's gonna lead you in a certain direction, but just
be prepared to have your mind scrambled a little bit.
Like we want to. We we love to do projects
that really take us back to the essence of great cinema.

(12:35):
Remember Fay Fayl Attraction and those type of like we're
trying to get back to those new or thrillers, uh
that that really make you think and try to figure
it out why you're watching it. I still can't have
a bunny soup after watching fail Attraction. And let me

(12:57):
say this. If Form and are going to do a
movie together, he doesn't know it yet. We've talked a
couple of times, but we have got I'm that fared
by the same Haven't I said that to you before? Yes? Yes,
no has it had? That makes it worse because you
can't have it. I have a movie from which will

(13:19):
be just I'm just gonna get I'm not gonna give
it away, but basically it's gonna be like an all
black airplane. Not not cast on an airplane because I
was so plane, but but that kind of comedy, a
comedy like that. That's all I'm gonna say about it, Okay,
And I will tell both of you guys. We're working
on the project that I have you guys in mind.

(13:41):
But really you mean like a couple type things or
what just just we don't want to get into all
of that. Just know we're working on a project where
I have you guys in mind. Who project I'm talking
about with distribution and the whole night. Now, Look, I'm
an actor. I was in movies, Rob I've been in movies.

(14:04):
I was in the movie what was it? It was
called it was a nice. He didn't even know the
name of the movie. It was, you know what he
was in. He was in March of the Wooden Soldiers.
He was one of those guys. No, it was gosh,
what was it called? Um, I'll come up with it later,
but I wasn't. He don't even know the name. Me quiet,

(14:24):
I don't think it's that big of a deal. I
just want that you don't know the name of the
you were in, and you know, I just did it
to help the people out. But I got rave reviews. Um.
But anyway, it was called Reality High. It was called
reality to hashtag Reality High. Okay, let me ask he
from about the Pittsburgh Steelers, please, okay, he from I

(14:45):
called them the worst eleven and old tim you know,
the worst eleven and old team I've seen. Tell me
about the Steelers. I mean they struggled big time against
the Ravens, who or without eighteen players because of COVID
and RG three who really struggled and hadn't played in years.
What did you make of that win by Pittsburgh And

(15:06):
how good really are they? And trying to get to
the Super Bowl. So I'll tell you this as a
former player, the one thing we need is consistency. So
every year when we get into our season, we know
what's going to happen. When we're gonna play, who we're
gonna play, show up, and show out, whether we win

(15:28):
or lose. That's different when you start and we're seeing
this a lot this year because of COVID. When you
start moving things around, nobody plays on Wednesday. Number one.
We take it. We take for granted how difficult that
is as a player, right because everything you've known since

(15:50):
you've been in the league, your body adjust and maneuvers
to a certain time frame in pattern. Very monotonous, you
know that. So when you keep moving, they're what they
were nine eight days later when they finally played their games.

(16:13):
Supposed to be Thursday, then supposed to be Tuesday, Monday,
then Tuesday, then Wednesday, like all. All of that has
a really adverse effect on you as a player, mentally
and physically. And it's easy to say, well, they had
they was just resting at home. Your body doesn't work

(16:34):
like that. Your body was ready for the first real
day of practice in the new week, and here we
are trying to go out and play a full fledged game,
and they were rusty, they were off, but they got
the job done. And I'll tell you this, it's hard
to be leaving and knowing Sorry, I can tell you that, right.
And when I'm not saying their world beaters, I don't.

(16:55):
I think Kansas City's clearly the class of the AFC.
But I got to give them credit for being eleven. Oh,
and I think Tomlin was right, like for the coach
to say what he's said, I think that was right
on the money criticizing them. But you know he from
correct me if I'm wrong. In the NFL, with the
play win is a win if you if you played badly,

(17:16):
you learn from it. But the win is a win. Right, Oh,
you don't look, I'll tell you what. You can't discount
or discredit any win in the NFL, right You, Any
win and any one win can get you to the playoffs. Right,
So you can find yourself at the end of the
season at at at nine and six and needing one,

(17:36):
or you can find yourself go on a run. All
of any win you can get as a team in
the NFL is priceless, right, Whether you win every all
sixteen games by one point. Who cares. Let's go to
bout winning by one Let's go to the other team
in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. We know Carson Wentz and the Eagles

(17:58):
a bit struggling. He just there's a big story. He
made this big speech to the team this week and
took accountability for his poor play. Is that you know
you've seen the reports that have been out in the
past couple of years about teammates not liking him, thinking
he's selfish. Whatever, is it too little, too later? Is
this a good step in your opinion? So I'll tell

(18:21):
you like this, no matter what his teammates think, he's
not going anywhere. They can't afford for him to go anywhere.
So as a head coach and as an owner and
as a GM, you gotta really get in control of
that locker room. You can't. I if Carson Wentz is

(18:45):
out on an island, then you gotta you gotta take
everybody to the island because he's the one piece that's
not expendable because of the contract and how you and
what you guys walk yourself into. He's not going anywhere
no matter what happens. So you have to try to
build around it. First of all, you have to try
to make it as easy as possible for him not

(19:06):
to make mistakes in the game. So you got to
have different game plans. You can't call the same game
plan you called in his first and second year when
he was a world beater. We're gonna change all of that. Okay,
We're going to drop back three step drops. We're going
to get the ball off to these receivers or backs
are tight in as fast as possible. Watching those receivers

(19:27):
try to get open on deep patterns. This past week
was was It was hard to watch. I don't know
what happened to Alexeon Jeffers, but he can't get off
press it. Jes was embarrassing. No, and my room and
my room A line is lost whatever speed he had. Yeah,

(19:47):
but what happened is when he came back, it took
the shine away from that young kid what's his name
was who was balling out. But he's no longer since
Alexeon Jeffers came back, he's becoming a second tho. Yes, yes,
So you gotta be able to adjust that and see
that as a coach. We can't dump this all on
this quarterback. Yeah, he does have to play better, he

(20:10):
has to take care of the ball. But you have
to help him, right, if you have to help him,
that's our man from Salim Renaissance Man. Check out his
new film Fate Taal on December eighteenth. Man, I can't
wait to see my wife and I watch that for sure. Absolutely.
Thank you, brothers, all, thank you. Be sure to catch

(20:31):
live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar and
Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. Interesting
stories come out Rob ESPN Adam Schefter, the great ESPN reporter.
He was on a radio show with our our friend
and colleague here Fox Sports, Mark Schlayrith and Mike Evans

(20:55):
on Thursday yesterday, and Schefters said that he thinks there's
a pretty decent chance that Matthew Stafford is finally traded
away from the Detroit Lions. And I'm gonna be honest, Rob,
I would like to see it. I'll get into it

(21:18):
to a little further in a minute. But what's interesting
in this situation is that one you know, there was
a story in the Athletic about this they played off
the possibility of Stafford being traded, and an anonymous NFL
offensive coach said this. If Stafford was traded to the

(21:43):
forty nine ers San Francisco forty nine Ers, here's what
he said, they would win a Super Bowl. Stafford would
be in a real organization. Finally, he would bend to Shanahan,
Kyle Shanahan the coach and that offense, because there is
such a history of success with that system, and Stafford

(22:03):
would know he's not going to get hit in the
head all the time like in Detroit. Now you, of course,
as we all know, we're a long time columnists in Detroit,
very familiar with that organization, the Lions. What is your
thoughts on it? I'll tell you quickly. I would like
to see Matthew Stafford get traded. Now, I'm not gonna
go as far as this offensive coach and say he

(22:27):
went a Super Bowl, but I would like to see
him get traded to a better situation because I'm curious,
like I think that. I don't think there's any denying
that the guy's got talent, that he can throw the football.
We know his numbers are you know, he's not a
Hall of famer to me, and I don't think to
anybody else, but his numbers are of his numbers are

(22:51):
right because he's put up a lot of those stat
Padford stats. Chris. You know, like this team. You gotta remember,
this team is so bad. They had two twenty four
game road losing. I mean, the numbers are horrific. Just
just yeah, they're They're a horrible organization, no doubt they

(23:11):
really are. That's why, like I said, I'd like to
see him somewhere else. And I'm not absolving him because
look at Deshaun Watson, right, He's he's not winning in Houston,
but he's putting up big numbers and you can see
that he's playing well. He's not just padding stats and
all that um. But still I'd like to see him

(23:33):
in a better organization and see what he can do. Yeah,
I get it. And I think that's just the knee
jerk reaction because you see he has a great arm. Chris.
I mean, I'm not gonna see here and act like
he can't play. But he just hasn't done enough. This
was a number one overall pick in two thousand and nine, Chris.

(23:53):
They've been to the playoffs three times, never won a
division title, never won a playoff game. Seriously, like like
just think about that, and yes, and stop saying he
doesn't have any players. It's not true. Everybody keeps saying
that Calvin Johnson was one of his players, and Domin

(24:14):
can sue on defense. I can go on and on
and on, Chris. I'm not saying that they were a
super Bowl contender, but they've had players on that team
to where they could have possibly won a playoff game
or two. And when you're that guy, the number one pick,
sometimes you gotta you gotta go up above and beyond

(24:34):
Chris and carry a team that's not that great. Right,
that's that's not that great. And he hadn't been able
to do that. But I'm not saying all the time,
but you could have. He had a moment, Chris. Everybody
goes back to that playoff game at Dallas in twenty fifteen.
Lions lose twenty four to twenty and in that game,

(24:56):
there was a call in that game that Lions fans
always belly aka bouncing that they got jobbed and whatnot.
And in that game, Tony Romo threw a couple of
touchdown passes in the second half to lead a late
fourth quarter, fourth quarter comeback that rallied the Cowboys to
win that game. Now, in that game, Chris, they had

(25:18):
Matthew Stafford had the ball back with two and a
half minutes or so to go and a couple of timeouts.
So was it was it set up even with the reference,
you know, with the officials call, he still had the ball.
He's from suburban Dallas, Like this was like made up
for him. He could have led the Lions back and

(25:41):
had a charge and win that game and that would
have been his coming out party. Do you know? Like
it was set up? And you know what happened in
that series, Chris, when they got the ball back with
two and a half minutes to go for an out,
That's that's what happened. And I'm not saying you gotta
win every playoff game or whatever, but to be in
the league this long and that year too, I think

(26:04):
the Allions had the fifth best defense, rob Gee, if
you can, can you just look at that. I think
they had the fifth best defense in the league in
that twenty fourteen season. So don't act like there was
never any players around him. And Domin consue when he
first broke into the league. Chris was, what do you
have ten and a half sacks rookie year? Yeah? Right,

(26:25):
he was a monster. They had the third best defense
in the league that year, third best, right, So third
best with the first overall pick, you're supposed to make
something happen that year, and they didn't. Well, I'm not
saying that he couldn't go to another team and have
better success. All I'm saying is, don't just blame it

(26:47):
on other people. Stafford has been part of the problem
as well. That's right, And I don't know that anybody.
Never look, maybe this offensive coach does feel likes everybody
but Stafford. I agree with you. Some of this is
on him. There's no if, SAMs or butts about it.
And I think what you've described is a quarterback who's

(27:07):
not super special. Right. There are those guys that are
super special, and I don't I'm not under the impression
that Matthew Stafford is one of those guys. But I
do think he could be much better in a better situation.
Like I think he's a guy that could win a
playoff game here or there. I think he's a guy that,

(27:28):
you know, could lead his team to the postseason more often,
you know, in a better situation because like you said,
he's got the arm. Now you you may have been
around him, I don't, you know, you you poo poo this,
But I think intangibles are huge, and you know, is
he a guy that lacks those intangibles? By all the accounts,

(27:50):
he's a pretty good guy, right, high carc He's a
good guy. Right, that's not even the issue. I don't
do teammates like him. I don't that's that doesn't mean
you've got those intangibles. But I'm saying, right, he's a
good guy. I don't think there's people who but but
I think that people try to say, oh, well, nobody
can win with that organization or whatever. He's put up

(28:12):
a lot of numbers. He's made a lot of mistakes
as well. Over the years, Chris, there were situations. I'll
give you another one and maybe you remember this. Here's
another defining moment. A couple of years back, the Packers
played at Detroit. Do you remember that for the division?
It was like you remember that it was a Sunday
night game, Chris h All. The Lions had to do.

(28:34):
The Lions were gonna win a division Chris get a
bye right and have a whole playoff game, and Stafford
stunk up to joint, stunk up to joint in the
biggest game right there. That was another moment. He had
a chance to beat Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. That
game was in Detroit, all set up for the Lions,

(28:58):
and they got punked. Here's an interest in twist on
this story. Rob. We know they fired match Patricia rightly,
so now they're looking for a new head coach. Some
legislators in Michigan actually sent a letter to the Lions
organization saying they should hire Um Sala. What's his name,

(29:20):
Richard Robert Sala, the offensive the defensive coordinator with the
forty nine ers. All right, they're saying they should hire
him Um, which I don't think they did him any favors, Um,
because you know, you want to be hired on your
own marriage. But look, if he gets it, great, I
mean I think he you know, he is a guy

(29:41):
that's well respected in the league. He's from Michigan, that's
why they're pushing him, and all that. He's Arab American too,
which would be yeah, So I think it'd be a
fine hire. I just don't want anybody thinking at all
it's because of these legislators, you know what I mean. Whatever,
But and you wonder what the organization feel like they're

(30:01):
being pressured or it just it's not a good look
to have legislators tell you who to hire. That's why
I did. I don't know that they did him any favors.
What does that tell you about the organization? Right there?
All r right? They think they can run it. These
are dudes that spend all day. They ain't looking at
football all day, and they're telling you who to hire.
So you're right, But um, Tony Dungie through in an

(30:24):
interested name Jim Caldwell. What Jim Caldwell, who you know
was already the Lions coach and was fired a few
years ago when they hired Matt Patricia. And they said
the reason the Lions fired him, they said it was
because he went nine and seven and back to back years.

(30:44):
I think one of those they made the playoffs, right,
and he may hit the playoffs two out of four years, right, yeah,
four years and if and if you and if you
look at it, it was also Chris was two of
the last three. So you know what I mean, like
like well, he was. He was eleven and five, which
is great, you know, especially for the Lions seven and

(31:05):
nine and then nine to seven, nine and seven, and
they said nine wins is not enough, and Patricia didn't
even get close to nine wins, right something, he won
won thirteen total. See here's my thing. And then I
obviously we want your opinion on this too. But Carwell
to me has not gotten any breaks. Like remember he

(31:26):
took over in Indianapolis. They go fourteen in two and
I was mad that year, Chris, because they were fourteen
to know, and remember they didn't want to go for
being undefeated and they rested players, and I was like,
you're on the cusp of doing something that historic. I
understand about the playoff run, Chris, but you remember that.
I remember they got a lot of players was something,

(31:48):
and they did get to the super Bowl. So you're
right it looked like, you know, it didn't hurt them,
but you're right, like that's something you would always be
remembered for even if you didn't win the Super Bowl, right,
you still win sixteen and oh which one team, only
one team has done that, the Patriots, and they didn't
win the Super Bowl either, of course, but then he
goes ten and six and then two and fourteen, and

(32:09):
that's when he was fired in the Indianapolis. Then he
goes to Detroit and has three out of four winning
seasons with a horrible organization. So I think this is
a guy whose name should be out there. And I'm
gonna say this, Robe. Look, if I'm Detroit, I think
you gotta do your due diligence. I don't think there's
one name you just automatically this is our guy. But
I wouldn't be opposed to a Jim Cardwell going back there.

(32:32):
They got a lot of different guys. Obviously Stafford's still there,
but you know, a lot of different guys. And I
just I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him back just
because you know, are not bringing I wouldn't not bring
him back just because he was already with the organization.
Where you at on that, I think the ship has sailed.
And now there's a lot of re revisionist history about

(32:54):
Cardwell's tenure there, and oh how great it was because
Matt Patricia was so terrible and Chris he did a
fine job there. But the problem was, even when he
was winning, he again liked Stafford they couldn't beat the
teams they needed to beat, and that was the bigger thing.
And so now you look at Patricia who couldn't beat anybody.

(33:16):
So so Jim cartwell, Chris looks better, right, He's like,
oh wow, But but there were those frustrating games when
they played a good team and they could never win
those games that they needed. So I think that ship
has sailed. I think that the Lions, you know, shouldn't
go backwards because if they would have rehired him and

(33:36):
then Chris couldn't recapture that it would just be another disaster.
Like look at the Lions. They hired a guy, they
fired and then he flopped again and they had to
fire him. So I just think, you know how it looks.
Sometimes it wouldn't look right. It just wouldn't look right,
even if you acknowledge that maybe you made a mistake,

(33:58):
and you could say that we made him steak with right,
and I agree with that because at the time he
was only fired because Bob Quinn wanted to get his
dude in there, you know what I mean? That was
that that was one of those buddy things
