There's so many storylines to tackle, and we will do

We got James Jones, super Bowl champion NFL network analysts
of course, former teammate of Aaron Rodgers, coming up at

(01:31):
the bottom of the hour, so lots to get into
with him. But let me welcome in my partner, mister
Rod Parker. How are you, man? I'm doing well. How
about you? How's the weekend? Good weekend, relaxing, you know,
just yeah, good, good weekend. No, it was quiet, but
most weekends are quiet nowadays. There's nothing to go, nothing

(01:54):
to do except for me going to Vegas on Saturday.
Other than that, you're going next Saturday. This Saturday, they're
coming out, so you must be. Vegas is just I mean,
I wouldn't say like normal, but it's most stuff is open,
right yeah, I mean, you know, everybody has masks on.
It's not packed like normal Vegas, so it's a little different.
So yeah, I'll just but all the casinos obviously, the restaurants,

(02:17):
the malls, everything is still you got to make a
reservation to eat though. I think you just can't show. Yeah,
like so how many how much money you're gonna spend
on shoes? What theyre? Yeah, No, I'll go to the night.
I always go to the Nike outlet just to see
if if you ain't going, just to look well, but
I'm always looking for like Jordan sweats, Jordan hoodie, something

(02:38):
that's unique or different. You can put an eye couple
patch over. Yeah, hello, is this harder? That's what you're
doing once you trying to expose me? Hey, No, On
a serious note, through before we introduced the crew and everything,
we lost a friend in our business, Chris By. We

(03:00):
both know and respected and admired John Smallwood, who was
a columnist for the Philadelphia in Choired for twenty years.
He was passed away at fifty five years old. He
had some health issues, but it's just another gut punch, Chris,
it really is. Yeah, fifty five man. And he was
first and foremost as you know, Rod, he was a

(03:22):
great guy, salt of the earth, like you know, just
really nice guy, high character, just just a great, great guy.
But he also was a terrific columnist, like he could write.
You know, he's a very good writer. Yeah, no doubt
a bob. Yes. So he he'll be missed on so
many fronts. He was down in Philly. I mean when

(03:44):
Stephen A was covering the Sixers and then the NBA
and they were both there in Philly, so you see
them a lot. But yeah, he'll be sorely missed and
just our prayers and condolences go out to his family. Yep.
And he had a daughter who he was crazy about. Yeah,
I remember when he got married. Yeah. Okay, let's introduce

(04:06):
the I Couple crew and get it popping dj Alex
Tye shirt on the ones and the two's on this
Magic City Monday super producer Rob g in full effect
and on the updates my man Ralph Irvin Bruce R's
brigade and full effect. Y'all all right speaking of it?

(04:26):
Full effect. Rob Parker, I know, just has a smile
on his face because of what Aaron Rodgers did on Sunday.
I mean, it's sad that it had to come against
your guy, WinCE. He gonna get his starting job back again.
But wow, thirty to sixteen Green Bay beats Philadelphia, probably

(04:52):
closer than you might have expected. But Aaron Rodgers another
superb game twenty five for thirty four, two hundred and
ninety five y arts, three touchdowns of course, no picks, uh,
just a strong game again by him. Rob, And you
wrote an interesting column on Dad's spend. There's been a

(05:13):
lot of talk about the MVP. Obviously, Pat Mahomes is
always there. Russell Wilson was the runaway leader early in
the season. He's falling off. Derek Henry had a really
bad game against the Browns on Sunday, so that takes him,
you know, that drops him down a few notches. Alvin
Kamara hasn't been the same without Drew Brees. So you

(05:34):
wrote about Aaron Rodgers, who has really been been there
all year. Tom Brady's falling out of the you know,
the leader off the leader board as well, and uh so,
so tell us about your column and what you think
about Brady in this I mean Rogers. Yeah, I think
last week we thought that Mahomes jumped in the lead

(05:56):
for sure, he had the big game, and then this
past week, Uh, to me, it felt like Aaron nudged
him out. Uh you know, I think Mahomes had one touchdown,
just a different kind of game yesterday, nothing spectacular for him,
and Aaron Rodgers had the big first half and three touchdowns,
no picks, and I just when you start to look

(06:17):
at the numbers, I just start to keep looking at
him and Rogers through twelve games. Uh is on page
for forty eight touchdowns, one hundred and eighteen point five
passer ratings, and those are all numbers, um, that are
right on part of the last time he won the
MVP Christen in twenty eleven. When what's that, Yeah, I

(06:42):
think he won in twenty fourteen too, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But they're better than those numbers. I should say that
they're They're like the twenty eleven numbers, but better than
the twenty fourteen He had thirty eight touchdowns and at
one twelve passer rating. So all I'm saying is, at
this point four games to go, I got Aaron Rodgers

(07:03):
in the league. He has a higher quarterback rating. He
also has that big win against the Saints on the road.
That's his signature win. I look at for a signature
win if the Packers and Saints finishing the tie and
that game was in New Orleans. If they finished in
the tie, the Packers have the tiebreakers, so that's a
huge game right there. And then for him to put

(07:26):
up the numbers that he's been able to put up
without Davante Adams for three games, without Aaron Jones for
three games, I mean, those are his biggest weapons. And
then yesterday it just reminded us not that this has
anything to do with Chris the MVP for this year.
But Aaron Rodgers became the fastest player in NFL history

(07:47):
to reach four hundred touchdown passes and he did it
in just one hundred and ninety three games, which is
twelve games less than Drew Brees. And then probably the
the thing that is shocking, uh, he also became the
first player set the record for the most seasons Chris

(08:09):
of thirty five or more touchdowns. He now has five.
He was tied with Manning and Brady and Breeze and
now he has that record by himself. But the other
thing was the last thing is he you know how
he just doesn't throw touch interceptions? Are you ready for this?

(08:30):
I don't know if you saw this graphic. I think
this graphic is amazing. How many touchdowns did Bret? How
many interceptions did Brett Farve have when he got to
four hundred touchdowns? Oh, I'm gonna say he's the all
time interception king. Yeah, I'm gonna say three twelve not

(08:52):
too high. Wow, two fifty eight? How many does he
have for his career? I don't know what that number is.
But this is when he got to four hundred, two
fifty eight. And here's the other guys behind Aaron Rodgers, Chris,
you got a number, I saw it. Eighty eight, ninety one,
eighty eight, eighty eight. Okay, Tom Brady one forty three,

(09:14):
Drew Brees one ninety six, Paid Manning one ninety eight,
Philip Rivers two o two, and Dan Marino two thirty nine.
So he's done it at nobody's done that. Yeah, with
the lack of inner, he's very, very careful for the
most part with the football. But I just think it's
been a great bounce back year for a guy. A
lot of people rolled off and Aaron Rodgers has played

(09:36):
well the entire year. The one, you know, the one
blemish was the Tampa Bay game where he had the
two turnovers. That was, Yeah, look, Aaron Rodgers, all the
things you said are correct. He's having a great year.
There's no question about it. And that said to me,
it's clearly Patrick Mahons. Now, I'm not gonna say it's

(09:56):
a runaway, it's a route because Rodgers is playing so well.
I certainly wouldn't sit here and and pooh poo in
any way this type of season he's had. But I
think Patrick Mahomes is clearly the MVP right now, and
I think if Aaron Rodgers gets it, And to your credit, Rob,
you didn't mention this, but I think if he wins it,

(10:20):
you know, like say the season ended today and or
they just both of them continue to play as they have,
you know, all season for the rest of the year.
For if Rogers were to win it, I think it
would be based on narrative. It would be based on
what you said. I mean, you didn't say this in
terms of this is why it should be the MVP. No,
but you mentioned you mentioned a lot of people hit

(10:42):
written him off. I think that's an overstatement. But obviously
some people thought he wasn't quite the same he was.
He was still very good, but not the same old
Aaron Rodgers. The Packers themselves drafted a quarterback in the
draft when they obviously should have went for a receiver.
So I think that narrative, you know, late in his career,

(11:03):
we all know how great he is. I think that narrative,
if that sways writers, that's the only way he wins it.
Kind of like the sentimental vote, like to be honest,
similar to what a lot of people were saying about
Lebron in the NBA. He had a great narrative. It
was very romantic and all that, and Rodgers is not

(11:24):
quite as much as Lebron's, but still there's a nice
storyline there. But I think when we look at the facts,
it's gotta be Mahomes. I mean, number one day, eleven
in one, and I know it's not just about team record,
but Dair eleven and one, the Packers are nine and three.
Mahomes is averaging three hundred and eighteen yards a game,

(11:45):
Rogers only average in two hundred and eighty three. That's
that's almost forty yards a game more than Rogers touchdowns.
Rogers got him thirty six to thirty one. Rogers throne
four interceptions, but Mahomes. You mentioned Rogers being careful with
the ball. Mahole has two interceptions and has thrown forty
more passes. I think, then Aaron Rodgers, so then he's got.

(12:07):
Mahomes leads the league in QBR, Rogers is second. He's here.
Here's a few things that are the clincher for me.
Rob You mentioned Rogers has that clunker, and he does.
I mean, and obviously he's had a great year, but
that game against Tampa, he wasn't just mediocre. He was bad.

(12:28):
He was down right bad. He completed less than fifty
percent of his passes, he had two interceptions, no touchdowns
in a huge game against Tom Brady, and he wet
the bad. I mean, it's just as simple as that.
One hundred and sixty yards passing that game. They had
the early lead, which you thought, you know, you'd think

(12:49):
would bode well for them, and he just fell apart
and gave him nothing. And then Mahomes has not had
a bad game yet, No games well, let me finish,
you had he had a few games with one touchdown,
but he has not had a bad game yet, no

(13:09):
game where he's only you know, below fifty percent completion
or anything like that. And then this rob and then
I'll give it to you after this. You always like
to look at who, you know, who you've beaten, you know, right,
strength of schedule, so to speak, all right, against teams
with winning records, the Packers are one and two, one

(13:31):
and two against teams with winning records, the Chiefs are
four and one. Case closed, case closed, And that's nothing
against Rogers. But he's just going up against a whirlwind
in Patrick Mahons. So I got Mahomes still, and here
you just talked about Patrick Mahomes not having any stinkers

(13:52):
or clunkers. Three times this year he's had passer ratings
under a hundred. Aaron Rodgers has done it only once
and that was the Tampa Bay game. So while you
might say he didn't have any stinkers, those are three
times he was under a hundred and passer raiding he
did it three times. He did it against the Chargers,
the Raiders and Denver, so he does have a couple there.

(14:14):
And you talked about the one touchdowns. So it'll be
interesting to see how it plays out. I think you're right.
There's there's definitely a narrative and there'll be some people
who look at it, especially with the two records he
set yesterday, Chris, if he were to play it out
and whatnot, people will look at him. Ago, man, what
uf they wrote him off? What a bounce back year

(14:35):
this guy? You know? And if they get the number
one seed in the NFC because he beat the Saints,
you know in New Orleans, it could be there. It
just depends on how does the last four games play out. Yeah,
it's gonna be interesting, that's for sure, all right. Eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox. You're turning the way
in as always? Who do you have in the MVP?

(14:56):
As far as the NFL right now, we can't imagine
and this anybody outside of Aaron Rodgers or Pat mahomes
I'm with Mahomes, Robs with Rogers. Who you got? We'll
continue the conversation with you. Next is Chris and Rob
the Odd Couple Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and
Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific

(15:19):
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. Who
do you have in the MVP race? I got Pat
mahomes By. I just think it's it's clearly him. Rob's
got Aaron Rodgers. Who you got? All right, let's kick
it off with Doctor Midnight in Toronto. You're on the
Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Doctor Midnight?

(15:42):
Happy holiday is guys. How are you guys doing? Doing good?
Great man? How are you? I'm doing well? Happy matter
say Monday and I hope to stand up. Brings all
these school supplies baby formula to all the girls in
Master City. That's right, That's right. Midnight don't let don't
let Rob correct. No, no, no, doctor Midman, I've been

(16:04):
I've been far corrupted before I've known. I didn't heard
about Rob park Rift also, But my Aaron Rodgers, the
staffs are pretty much the same. It's hard differentiate between
the stats and the both players. But the way I
see it, if I replaced either one of those quarterbacks,
if I replaced Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City with some schmuck,

(16:27):
I can at least rely on Andy Reid to at
least think of a game plan who could win you
a game? If I replaced Aaron Rodgers or some schmuck
in Green Bay, I don't have the confidence that mattl.
Fleur can think of a game plan to get their
team to win a game. So as a result, I
think Aaron Rodgers is more valuable to the team, and
as a result more is an MVP of the league.

(16:49):
If I look at it that way, that's all I
got is twenty four and six as a head coach.
I mean you kind of taking it help, making it
hard on it. He hadn't proven anything, do you not yet?
Not yet? We know that starts off the start, no
doubt about it. Nick in Indiana. You're on the eye

(17:09):
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Nick Hey? Guys
a long time listener, really love the show. Thanks right,
nick Hey. Generally I sided with Rob on most things,
but uh, I'm gonna have to go with Chris on
this one, if for no other reason than the eye
test alone. Uh. But one of my problems with Rob's

(17:30):
argument is about how many touchdowns that Rogers has. How
many teams out there have a guy that scored twenty
rushing touchdowns last year and are passing the ball from
the one yard line over and over and over again. Right,
So yeah, but you can rely on the touchdown number. Well,
but but that's what we gauge, and he also has
a higher quarterback rating, so it's not that that takes

(17:52):
everything into consideration the passer. The passer rating looks at
a lot of different things, not just touchdowns, and he
leads them in that. That's all. It's just an indication,
an indication mark. If it didn't matter, then people wouldn't
have made a big deal when Pat Mahomes had fifty.
It matters. I'll touchdowns even if you're Chris thrown it
from two yards out, there's still a touchdown pass. Right,

(18:14):
we didn't we didn't have Gate his touchdowns then, right,
Ricky in Texas, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. Hey, I think you're taking my call. I
listening to the show takes me back. I feel like
I'm back in the locker room with the guys and stuff.
Many you know what that's in there. That's as nice
as you could say, man, VP race goes. Although I

(18:37):
really am a big Packers fan, I gotta say I'd
go with my homes, you know. To me, I based
it on this. If I was to pick one guy
for next year or for this year to start a
franchise with, it would be my home. Not I mean
just for one year, not just for the long term play,
but for one year. And I think you guys hit
on it while ago. It's just like with Lebron. You know,

(18:59):
you start looking at people who beat Lebron out for
MVP in the NBA Westbrook Hard and these guys like that,
you would always think Lebron over those. But I think
sometimes these guys spike up a little bit, have a
feel good year, and then the guy who's really the
class of the league gets punished a little bit. So
that's my take on it. Thanks a lot, Okay, I
appreciate it. I don't think there would be any punishment.

(19:21):
It's not like they've given the Tamaron Rodgers as a
because it won't be uh what do we call it,
Chris um a sentimental lifetime achieve lifetime achievement, right, I
do think it, like I just I do feel like
Mahomes is significantly ahead. Like and again, Rob, I base
a lot of it on he has not had a

(19:42):
bad game. Now you can say he's had Um, I'm
just saying pretty good games. He hasn't had any bad games.
And let me ask you this, So that would change
to say he had a clunker of next week. That
could change it. Yeah if he if he he went
out and did with Aaron d the Sampa Bay like

(20:04):
if he if he if he played a game like
Rodgers did against Tampa Bay, Yeah, that would have a
huge impact. Okay, but he's beating Baltimore when Baltimore was rolling.
You know, He's beating the Raiders when they were rolling, Um,
you know they He's beating some He's like I said,
four and one against teams with five with winning records,

(20:26):
pack all one and two. Joel in Sacramento. You're on
the yard a couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's happening?
And how y'all doing the day? Pretty good? Pretty good? Hey?
I think if Aaron Rodgers, I think my homes got
millions of with it. Aaron Rodgers only really had Adams

(20:46):
and Jones is inter weapon. I mean he got run.
He ain't Bell, but leveon Bell. This ain't two thy
fifteen bro Hey but Bell? Wait wait but you said
um and Rodgers had a stinker against Umpa. What about

(21:08):
the first Raider game? The first Raider game wasn't one touchdown,
was just one touchdown. It wasn't no two touchdowns one pick,
I believe. But he started he started padding this step
at the end of that game. He started trying to
come back. They hold on. He threw for three hundred

(21:32):
forty yards, two touchdowns and a pick. That's a stinker.
A quarterback rating in that game? What was the point five? Yeah,
it was under one hundred. So it wasn't that great
of a day. But it wasn't a bad It wasn't that.
It wasn't that for to be under a hundred. That's
all all right. So it wan up. We got James Jones.

(21:56):
We will ask him this very question. We'll see if
he can be biased. But first, what you mean, why
are you gonna put that out there? That's t X teammate.
You know he got left for Rogers. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussar
and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app.

(22:18):
He's a Super Bowl champion and NFL network analysts were
honored to have him on the show. James Jones, Welcome
to the OUB. James, what's going on, fellas? Aw y'are doing?
We are great, man, We are great. We were just
having a heated discussion about the MVP and I look,

(22:40):
I told Rob, I said, James will be unbiased. Just
say that. Just ask the man. I try to say, James.
Don't buy it. Rob thinks is Aaron Rodgers? Who who
you got at disappoint in the season MVP? Man, I'm
not gonna be biased at all. I'm just gonna go
ahead and chell you Aaron Rodgers man, And to me,

(23:03):
to me is easy and it's not close. And the
reason why I say that. No, no, no. This is
the reason why I say that is because through the
off season, through the draft, through free agency, all everybody
said was they wasted Aaron Rodgers. Did not go get
it him a receiver, He's not gonna do well. He's
another playmaker on the other side of Davante Adams, and

(23:24):
he's the best carrying football right now, and he's making
guys look good that nobody believed in. I'm listen. I'm
a fan of Patrick Mahomes. Patrick Mahomes is balling, But
I could not imagine Aaron Rodgers. But what he's doing
right now with Tyreek Hill, with Sammy Watkins, with Travis Kelsey,
I couldn't. I could not imagine. I'm not taking nothing

(23:45):
away from Patrick because Patrick is special, but right now
with what Patrick has and what Aaron has and what
Aaron means to have seen Aaron Rodgers. And here's my thing, James,
Aaron and aar is having a great year. So there's
there's no if butts about that. But the first thing
you said is narrative, right, he they wrote him off,

(24:05):
they picked the quarterback, they picked his successor. That's all true,
but that's got nothing to do with what happens, you
know who's MVP. We gotta look at it on the field.
And while Rogers has been great, he did have the
one clunker against Tampa Bay. I don't think Mahomes has
had any bad games. Now, he's had some games that
were just pretty good where he wasn't, but he hasn't

(24:29):
had any bad games like Rogers had. And it's that
close where I think one game like that could be
the difference. I do think one day. I do think
one game like that will be the difference coming down
the stretch. Because right now, when you watch both of them,
you see passing. Mahomes store picked to lose the Raiders game,
you know what I mean. They didn't look lights out

(24:49):
last night against a Timber Broncos team was at the
bottom of the bottom of the divisions. So I do
think it's gonna come down to one game. But I
do think it's gonna come down to a game down
the stretch that I don't think anybody's gonna worry about
games that happened already, but down the stretch, I do
think if one of these guys slipped up and have
a bad game, I think it's going to the other person,
but Rodge. I'm telling you when you watch Rodge play

(25:12):
right now, and when I watch him and even playing
with him, when I watch him and he has the
boss feel like, Man, this dude ain't gonna make a mistake.
This dude gonna make the right play every single time.
That's just how it feels. So if we're betting on
Rodge messing up, I don't think it's gonna happen. You know.
The crazy The crazy thing too when yesterday he had
set two records, the fastest to four hundred yards I

(25:33):
mean four hundred touchdowns with only eighty eight interceptions, which
is an incredible number. And then he's the only player
he's done it five times thirty five or more touchdowns
in a season, and I think he was tied with
Manning and Brady and Breeze. Now he has it the
record by himself. James. Just when you when you talk
about he's not the most decorated or accomplished quarterback. Other

(25:56):
guys have won more championships. But when you talk about
just his ability as a quarterback and to make plays
and to get the ball there, what was that like
playing with him? Well, first off, I tell people this
all the time I said Aaron is a true athlete.
And when I say that, there's really nothing that Aaron

(26:16):
can't do. Aaron could golf, Eric could play basketball, Aaron
could play badman, Eron could shoot poor. There's really nothing
he can't do. Everything I just said, I've done with him.
And he's an athlete. He's not no Mike Vinck when
to get on the football field, but he's an athlete
from that standpoint. So when he steps on the football field,
he's not gonna run four three. But he's a true athlete.
And he has a special arm at throwing people open,

(26:40):
at making these throws, putting the ball any and everywhere
that he wants to put the football. And when I
watch him number one, I'm like, that's the stuff he
does in practice. I mean, I've seen more crazier throws
in practice that he makes makes than even in the game,
you know what I mean. But people look at it
like wow, man, Aaron Rodgers is doing that, and I'm like, listen,
twelve is an athlete, man, like I've seen here at

(27:03):
see twelve costs people over to have a little and
hal who came on like twelve is an athlete. He
really is an athlete, and when he steps on the field,
he's an athlete. But a lot of people just look
and look at it like a great passer. That's just
the cherry on top. Super Bowl champion James Jones joining
the eye couple. A lot of people have said Rogers
is the best they've ever seen throw the football. But

(27:26):
because he's only got the one super Bowl and Brady's
got six and Montana's got four, you know, he's not
really in that goat conversation. What would it take for you?
And you may be different than you. Robin and I
have said if he wins two more, which obviously that's
easier said than done, but if you were to win

(27:47):
like two super Bowls, give himself three, he would really
be in the conversation. You don't have to be in
that conversation. But for you, what would it take for
you to really say, Okay, this dude was the or
he's certainly right there, because obviously it's hard to say that. Yeah,
and you know, it's really tough for me to say that.

(28:09):
I really hate when people say, oh man, he won
these super bowls. Man, so he's he's in the gold conversation.
You know what I mean, but obviously that's what everybody's
driven off of right now. They're driven off of championships,
you know. But always tell people that Tom Brady wants
six super Bowls. He didn't just have a top ten defense.
He had a top five and five and five of

(28:30):
those super Bowls, you know what I mean. And then
and then how about Adam Vinary the greatest the Yeah,
and not only that in one of them he had
a number nine defense, you know. I mean, not making
any excuses, but everybody wants to base it off championships.
I basically, basically basically off the eye test and what
people have done on the football field that I've seen

(28:51):
with my own two eyes. And when everybody when Aaron
Rodgers hit the scene, all everybody did was compare any
other quarterback to Aaron Rodgers because we've never seen this
greatness before. Wasn't he's doing in the pocket outside of
the pocket. So if any young quarterback or any lectric
quarterback later throw like that, they're like, man, that's Aaron
Rodgers life, you know what I mean, This dude looks

(29:11):
like Aaron Rodgers. Were comparing him to Aaron Rodgers, And
to me, just what he has done on the football
field and really how he has changed the way the
quarterbacks play the position, because when we watch Patrick Mahomes,
that's what Aaron Rodgers was doing, you know what I mean. Yeah, yeah,
Patrick Mahomes, they throw for five hundred yards more than
Aaron Rodgers in a game or what. But we've seen
that from Aaron Rodgers. So to me, that puts you

(29:34):
in the conversation for the goal. And I know everybody
always compares Barry Sanders and Emmon Smith and all this
type stuff. But the reason why we put Barry in
that conversation, even though he has zero Super Bowl championships
and played for the Lions, ball tests and what we've
seen Barry do with the ball in his hands, and
that's why we say he should be up there with

(29:56):
the greatest. Hey, well said James. One of the thing,
definitely the Kyler Murray thing. Chris and I have been talking.
It was Chris how long ago, three weeks ago, a
month ago when Cliff Kingsbury after the Hale Murray was
talking about him and Patrick Mahomes should get the exchange
the MVP every other year and been starting next year. Yeah.

(30:21):
Ever since then though, it has been a downward spiral.
What's what's going on? If people caught up to Kyler Murray,
they're even stopping him from running. You know what, I'm
gonna be honest with you. When I seen Kyler Murray
play and beat and beat the Seattle Seahawks at home
and uh, and then I came and then he came
back and through that that that hell Mary, Yeah, um,

(30:43):
I was, I was on his bandwagon. I'm like, this
kid is absolutely special. This kid is definitely gonna be
an MVP of p of our league. But ever since
the last Seattle game in Seattle where he fell on
that shoulder and we all seen him getting up Winson
and throwing the ball, he had not been the same
Kyler Murray. He hasn't used his legs like we've seen

(31:03):
him use his legs to try to make some place.
He's not throwing the ball the way where he used
to seeing him throw the ball. And I truly believe
it's really something going on with his shoulder, and it's
not one hundred percent yet. And that's why you don't
even see some of the call the runs that Cliff
Kingsbury was calling earlier before he had took that hit
in Seattle. You've seen none of that. You good, make

(31:24):
him scramble a little bit now, but he's gonna slide
and go down. He's not using his legs and this
office is way more explosive when he could get out
the pocket and make some plays with his legs. No,
that that makes a lot of sense. He don't want
to get a take a shot. Look, he don't look
the same. There ain't no doubt about it, doesn't ye, James,
great stuff man without a problem anytime, brother man. No,

(31:50):
the Jets did not try to lose on purpose yesterday.
We'll get into that next. It's the Aka but Chris
and Rob Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch Live
a Days of the Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and
Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. Nothing like

(32:12):
some DMX Chris Christmas carols to get you in this
in the mood, in the spirit of the year, that's
for sure. It's the I Couple, Christ and Rob on
a Magic City Monday. And Uh, we got a question

(32:32):
for you. Do you own or do you writ your home? Sure?
You do? You do one or the other because everybody
does it. Fortunately, Geico makes it easy to bundle your
home and your car insurance, which is a good thing
because having a home is hard work, cutting the grass,
shoveling's driveway, you know, all types of things going wrong
here and there. So go to Geico dot com, get

(32:55):
yourself a quote and see how much you could say.
Geico dot com. They make owning a home easy. All right, Rob,
Speaking of something that's not easy, It ain't easy to
go winless in the NFL. No, and I watched it
up front when the Lions went owen sixteen for the

(33:16):
first time, First Team sixteen. I covered that season. How
many games did they come close to winning? They were
in a couple of them. But I remember doing this
Chris we were I was doing first take with Skip
and maybe when they were owen eight or whatever, um
Skip said he didn't think that they could go winless,

(33:39):
and I was like, Skip, I'm watching every week, I'm
there this team. I just had that feeling. Was that
the year you asked if the infamous question who was
the coach? That was the year Rod Bronelli. That was hilarious.
So I gotta give you that that's when we asked anyway,

(34:00):
you wouldn't explain it. It was hilarious. It's still good.
It's gonna wind up in one of the all time
greatest questions asked at a press conference. It was Joe
Barry was his son in law, was the defensive coordinator.
And the Saints scored on like every offensive possession, Chris,
except to the final one where they took a knee
and the lines were embarrassed. They just it was awful,

(34:23):
and it was a tense moment. I think at that
point maybe they were owing thirteen or twelve or fourteen,
you know what I mean, somewhere around there. And it was,
like I said to Rod, like on a on a
lighter note, because I was trying to see if I
could get a quote out of him something funny. I said,
do you wish your daughter would have married a better
defensive coordinator? That was great, That was hilarious. But I

(34:51):
tell you this, I'm not gonna tell you who the
reporter is who was in that press conference, Chris, but
he came up to me after he shook my hands,
he slipped me a five dollar bill and he said,
I almost wept myself. I swear. You know, the guy's
a big national guy. He said, dude, I almost wept myself.

(35:15):
I remember seeing because they played that it one like
oh god Ward Center and all the shows right, and
it was hilarious. No props for that. But anyway, the
New York Jets are looked like they're gonna do it,
Rob the twelve and they had the game against Rob
Gara's hapless get Rob six, seven and five. Still not

(35:40):
getting your hopes up, Rob, Rob g but your Las
Vegas Raiders, and we went into a hostile environment and
the elements and got it was like thirty people there. Yeah,
and the seasons do in front of they got the
dolphins in the coats coming up, so they're right there.
But Rob Ge, when it was getting there, before that
play where you like to go to lose to the Jets,

(36:04):
you had to think it. But anyway, so the last
player of the game and the obviously the Raiders need
a miracle, this seems, and sure enough they get it.
When the defensive coordinator for the Jets, Greg Williams, decides
to do an all out blitz. He wh eight guys,

(36:29):
eight defenders to the you know, to rush the quarterback
and they go man coverage and Henry Ruggs beats the
defender catches a forty six yard bomb in the end zone.
Game set match for the Raiders, and look, Rob, we know, look,

(36:49):
at the end of the day, Jets fans can be mad.
They fired Greg Williams today. Adam Gaze. First of all,
he shouldn't be able to fire anybody because he's gonna
get fired in a in an. So but everybody's you know,
ripping Greg Williams. It rightly, So, I mean it was
a horrible call, but it worked out for the Jets,

(37:09):
make no mistake, no doubt. Right, Yes, the Jaguars are
won in eleven and obviously the team with the worst
record gets the first pick, and that's gonna be Trevor Lawrence.
So the Jets don't they have no business winning the game.
Can I give you another one? Chris? I don't. You're
too young. You probably don't remember this. This is the
famous Larry Zonka. The Giants are playing the Eagles. Herm

(37:34):
Edwards was the defensive back Chris who scooped up the ball. Right.
The announcers are on television and they say this, all
the Giants have to do is kneel down and the
game is over. That's exactly what the announcer said. And
then he goes hand Oh no, wait a minute, hand
off to Zonka. Pasachi hits his hip with the puck

(37:56):
Chris It bounces her Meedwards picks up and runs into
the end zone when all they had to do was
kneel down. But I say this because the coach was
a guy. The offensive coordinator was a guy named Bob Gibson.
He was fired the next day. No, he was fired
the next day, and it killed it killed his football career,

(38:18):
like like that was. He was wired for calling that
play on what he should have been kneeling down. Greg
Williams I think is a good defensive coordinator this year,
notwithstanding the obviously he was involved with bounty Gate too,
so he's controversial. But he's gone. And I don't think
they did it on purpose though, Rob, do you No,
not at all. Nope. They could have been justified, but

(38:41):
they didn't do it.
