(00:26):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. All yeah, it is
The I Couple. I'm Chris Bruce Art alongside my partner
Rob Parker, and we're coming to you live from the

(00:49):
Fox Sports Radio studios. We got a great show for
you today. The news just keep fopping. I mean, my goodness.
Every day there's big breaking news and you just heard
it from our man, David Gaskin urban Meyer taking over
the Jacksonville Jaguars. We will get into that and so

(01:12):
much more. They're still fallout from the big NBA blockbuster
yesterday where James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant were united.
We were kind of we're waiting for Kyrie, but the
other two they're definitely playing together, Harden and kd. We'll
get into all of that as so much more over
the next three hours, so keep it locked right here.

(01:34):
On Fox Sports Radio, the iHeartRadio app or a sirious
XM Channel eighty three. Let me bring in my partner
on This is one of his favorite days of the week.
He's got two. There's trash Talking Tuesday and there's Today,
which is of course TV theme song Thursday. That's right, Parker,

(01:57):
what's happening, mister Chris? We can't wait? Yes, then, I
ain't you that I do that? Dude. I will give
you that. You do have tons of drops. You do
have tons. I'm the pool pool kid that I wish
your takes were as good as your drop well whatever, whatever, Hey,

(02:20):
let me tell you, Chris. And I'm not rubbing it
into the rest of the country or you're living and
you say that when you when you put that out there,
that means you are. No, I'm not. I'm not rubbing
it in. But are you Chris? Today I was in
the valley. I had to go to the dentists in
Sherman Oaks. Are you ready? Eighty one degrees on January fourteen,

(02:44):
Alex am my kidding? How hots right now? Dude, Chris?
It is so hot here. It's getting hot in here.
I'm not even kidding you. I believe it. I mean, look,
it's eighties one degrees to day and this is I'm
you know, I've only been here for five years, Alex.

(03:04):
This is unusual even for mid January, isn't it. I've
been here for probably almost twenty two years of my life.
This is not normal it by me. I'm a little
bit more of like central California. It was like eighty
seven by me today. Rob, It's crazy. Chris, I'm in
a T shirt. I had on like a hoodie when
I went to the dentist this morning. I was burning up,

(03:25):
absolutely burning up. And I gotta tell you this too.
When I went to the dentist, the guy who had
was working on me today, he hears my voice. I
take my mask off so he can perform what he
has to do. Chris, right, He's like, I know you.
That's what he said. I know you, Parker. And guess what,

(03:47):
Chris not from television? He said, you're on the Odd
Couple with Chris Broussard. Wow. And I'm just like wow,
even though you know what, And he says he watches
us on YouTube? Why really? Yes? I was impressed. Elijah
does a lot of work to us. I would be
a surprised if it was like a twenty one year

(04:10):
old you know Kyle right right, But no, no, no, no,
he's an older man and his birthday uh was yesterday,
so he's a Capricorn like me. But he raved about
the show. It was really nice. It just was funny
the way he did it. But then you go, that
was my day going to the dentist in the extreme
heat on this TV theme song, He's hall. I will

(04:32):
say one thing I do miss is the la weather.
That weather it is, it really is to die for it.
There's nothing rob you know this, There's nothing better than
walking out of the studio after you know of our
day's work and it's sunny and seventy five degrees. I
agree every day, man, it does just make you feel good.

(04:54):
All right, We're gonna make you feel good over the
next three hours. We got George Reichster I called him
or George Wrongster. You'll see why at the bottom of
the hours. He joins us, former NFL tight end, now
a Fox Sports radio weekend host, and we always have
a lot of fun with him. And let's introduce the
our couple crew. We got DJ Alex titshert Aka Alex

(05:14):
the Vegan is back. Return of the Mac. We got
super producer Rob g Is Ryan In helping him, who
lead the lap helping helping Rob g And on the
update you already heard him the gas Man, David Gascon.
Rob Let's get to it breaking news. Gas Man told
us urban Meyer taking over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Your thoughts first,

(05:41):
I want to find out from you, Chris, does this
count as a minority hire because his first name is
urban No? No, I mean I wouldn't be the rising
Some people try to right to throw that bias just
to you know, to passage the numbers right exactly all right,

(06:01):
but I did. I'm shocked that urban Meyer took this job, Chris.
I think, yes, what was the Austin p job not available?
This is going to NFL? Side hold on, let me
stop you, let me let me stop you. Was it
not just two years ago that you pick I'm just

(06:22):
keeping you on this, Rod Parker, that you picked the
Jacksonville Jaguars to make the Super Bowl, Chris. They had
a unique team with an awesome defense that they no
longer have. I'm telling you that a guy of urban
Meyer's stature, who has succeeded and done all the stuff

(06:43):
that he's done in college football. Shouldn't have to take
this also ran job, bad fan support a small market
where they have to play two games internationally because they
can't sell tickets one game or more every year. It's
just not a great football situation. They thought this was

(07:05):
gonna be Green Bay South, that you can have a
small market and have people care about just their football
team and pack the stadium every week. They can't do it. Chris,
the NFL made a mistake with Jacksonville, and Urban Meyer
made a mistake. He should be waiting for the Dallas
Cowboys job after next year, or waiting for a bigger

(07:29):
or better job. His credentials are heading shoulders above then.
You know, to me, taking the Jacksonville Jaguars job is
like you're down and out and there's nowhere else to go,
and you don't want to go back to college. Why
would you take this job. I know they got the
first overall pick, I know Lawrence is coming, I know

(07:51):
they got some other draft picks, and people are like,
that's fine. I just don't see how you're gonna win there.
I really don't. Chris, and they had a chance a
couple of years ago and didn't get it done. I
don't know if that window will be open again. Urban
Meyer deserves to be a coach at one of the
Creme Day La Creme franchises and not and also ran

(08:15):
a doormat and that's what the Jacksonville Jaguars franchise and
situation is. I hope they paid him a gazillion dollars.
And if and if this is just a money grab
and he wants to do this, then fine, But really
he deserves better than this job. That was cute, Thank you,

(08:35):
that was nice. But you're wrong. Not surprisingly, you're wrong.
This is a great job, Rob Parker, What are you
talking about? I mean, not only do they have Trevor Lawrence.
The first of all, the most important thing in the
NFL is to get yourself a great quarterback. Now nothing's

(09:01):
a sure thing. We don't know if Trevor Lawrence is
gonna be great. But all the projections the greatest coming
out of college since Andrew Luck, this and that. He
is phenomenal in the college level. He looks like he's
going to be a great pro. He's got the arm,
he's got the knowledge, he's got the athleticism, he's got

(09:24):
the height, the size. What's not to like. He's been
a winner. He looks like a leader. You know, he
was one of the major voices in getting the players
to play in fighting for their rights before this COVID
season started. So he seems like the total package. Good
character as well. So you got your quarterback, rob Not

(09:46):
many teams in the NFL are bad with great quarterbacks.
Now this year, of course, you had Houston with Deshaun Watson,
but they've been good generally with him. So my point,
you got that. Then you got eleven, count them, eleven
draft picks, all right, eleven in this upcoming drift for

(10:10):
a college guy, a guy who even in retirement, has
been close to the college game as as an announcer.
He's close to the college coaches. He's going to know
these kids better than most, so that will help. Then
you've got one hundred million dollars of salary cap room.

(10:34):
That's more than any other team in the NFL. And
you're in Florida. Now you can talk about it's not
the biggest market in the country. It's number forty. It's big.
Northern Virginia is bigger than Jacksonville, Jacksonville is the thirteenth
largest city in the country population over nine hundred thousand,

(10:54):
is the biggest city in Florida, and the metro area
is not huge, out one and a half one point
six million. That's why against set because against sell out games.
Not I've been horrible. That christ is football. All you
gotta do is go to eight home games a year. Good, bad,
ways different. Stop it. Don't make any excuses for you

(11:18):
because you're wrong. New Orleans is much smaller, and when
New Orleans wasn't good, they couldn't draw flies. Yes they did.
They went there with legs on their heads. Yeah, with
the bag on their heads. They showed up the few
people that they never moved their games with bags over
their head. They never moved their games and moved two
or three games. Chris, the seats are covered up. This

(11:40):
isn't ten years ago. You're in Jacksonville, it's Florida. Players
will go there and Urban Meyer is a hero in
Florida for leading the University of Florida's two national championships.
And the expectations because they have been bad for the
most part, won't be like you gotta come in and

(12:00):
win a Super Bowl in three years. I mean, this
is a great look, great opportunity, great job for Irvian Myer.
They're getting the new gym. He can help shape the
football operations. They're doing everything new. You're wrong, this is
a great opportunity. This is a guy who just took
the money grab is it? What is it? Twelve million

(12:21):
a year? Five or city grab? Get get it? I
get it. It's a money grab. It can't be before
because of the culture, or or or the franchise. A
better job, A better job. That really Buffalo went to
four straight Super Bowls. Quit their organization. Way better to go.
It don't matter what living in the matter like hell,

(12:44):
a better organization. You must be quitting the same guy
in Jacksonville. And this ain't the college dual. This is
a terrible NFL city, That's what it is. That's why
they moved to games. Don't kid yourself. Come on, man,
that's serious. Why don't they move the game. And I'm
not gonna make money here. How many time you Dallas

(13:06):
played in a late naw Yeah, why we're really going
them to the dallam asking why they go? You're embarrassing yourself.
I won't wat goals because they won't give them them.
But the tick you bring up Buffalo from thees and nineties,
then you bring up compared them to the Dallas Cowboys. Serious, stop,

(13:27):
I'm asking you why haven't they gone over there because
they're not giving up their Kisarcas team. Oh that ain't
they're compared. That's in the camp. Jan Dril Fly ain't
compare since the ninety That's fine. Urban Mayer in three
years will be back on television. Go ahead, I'm telling
you it's so wrong. This is my uniform. Some bad

(13:48):
takes in your day, but this may take the cake.
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine ninety six sixty three sixty nine talks them sense
in the Parker please call us up. What do you think?
Maybe you're on Rob side. Hit us up, you'll turn away.
In the Eye Couple Chris and Rob Fox Sports Radio,

(14:08):
be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeart Radio app. It's the Eye Couple, that's right. You know,
I have no idea what this is. This is a
TV theme song Thursday. What is this? It's The Fall Guy? Chris.

(14:30):
Isn't that Lead Majors? He was a stunt man that
was app made six million dollar man. Yeah, this was
on ABC. I believe The Fall Guy. I didn't watch that.
I never watched a minute of that. You did, obviously,
I knew what I like. A million dollars man or
to buy on he didn't. Those were great show. I
was on those. Yeah, when they first started. They both

(14:51):
were Those were awesome. All right, we are brought to
you by Discover. Discover matches all the cash back you
earn on your credit card at the end of your
first years. You know how huge that is. It's amazing
because Discovery is accepted in ninety nine percent of the
places in the United States that take credit cards. I
can't even what's the place that doesn't. My goodness, what

(15:14):
what's who's in that one percent? Anyway? Learn more discovered
dot com slash twenty twenty, slash Yes, I'm sorry. Discovered
dot com slash Yes twenty twenty. Nielsen Report limitations do apply?
All right? Eight seven seven ninety nine or fix you
heard me? And Rob going at it? I think the
Jacksonville Jaguars job is a tremendous opportunity for Herbert Meyer.

(15:35):
He thinks it's a terrible job. What say you know?
It's terrible for a guy with his stature and with
his resume. That's my point is that he should have
waited for a better franchise to take over. That's all.
Lincoln in Knoxville, you're the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Lincoln? How's it going? How are you? Ain't

(16:00):
pretty good? I gotta say, no relation, Elizabeth, no relation
like Rob would say. Now you no, that was good.
That's why it sounded like something you would say, because
nobody laugh. Streck Melbourne laugh. All right, guys, I just

(16:25):
wanted to speak on the James Harden trade and we're
talking about urban meyers yea, than talking about a call back? Yeah, Georgia,
we don't do that. We don't jump all around. We
on a topic. We want to hear from that that
topic just call back match and Georgia, you're on the
yard a couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? My guys?

(16:47):
You know Rob, I had to go with you yesterday.
I can't ride with you today. I gotta say this
to me. Um you know, this guy seems to trend
upwards wherever he goes, whether it be Utah, Florida Gators,
Ohio State. You seem to bring a spark. He seems
to bring something along with him that brings championships. Having
said that, I agree Jacksonville is not ideal, but it's

(17:07):
a good starting point. There's nothing wrong with having coaches
earn their way in this league of thirty two jobs.
You look at Steve Spurry, or you look at Nick Sabe,
and you look at Chip Kelly. Maybe he's not trying
to be like one of those guys. He's back home.
He's an hour and a half from Gainesville. He's got
a really good home base there. Still, it just makes
sense with the draft picks and the quarterback. I just

(17:28):
couldn't agree with you on this one, my man, But
I appreciate you, and Chris appreciate you too. He soft
pedaled death so much, right, He pitied you on that.
He didn't try. He tried. We'll see you call back down,
called back because it's a disaster. A call me back,

(17:49):
called me back when that happens. Max Cowboy in Windsor Wow.
I used to call my whole show in Detroit. You're
on the couple of Fox Sports three. It was up Cowboy.
Oh nothing much happy but the belated birthday Rob and
Chris and your boy got leaves birthdays tomorrow. Oh and
and maybe it maybe you can play the then came
Bronson theme song. But I used to watch that when

(18:11):
I was in high school. Was only out for a
year and then came Bronson. Yeah, yeah, but anyway, I
like it because, uh, if if he's able to delegate,
and you know he's gonna he's gonna work with Lawrence
when the when when they draft him. Plus, uh, it
depends on just what kind of a coaching staff he

(18:32):
who gets. Plus he knows it's about uh everything there
is to know about college talent. I mean, if yeah,
he could, he could turn out to be a bus
But I think he I think that as a previous
Choler says, wherever he goes, he seems to bring at
a spark and different nfls different from college football. That's

(18:55):
why a lot of guys, that's why is a ry
this college football coach who was bad in the NFL.
This the list is long of those guys. It just
I'll say so Rob, if he fails, and you're right,
it's tough. I mean, Steve Spurrier, it was bad. Failed
in college. Pete Carroll did obviously is doing well, but

(19:16):
he's kind of he was back and forth. Um, but
if urban Meyer fails, my point is it won't be
because he's Jacksonville. It'd because, like you said, he couldn't
make that transition. But I think he's got He's got
so much going for him with this job, with what
they have, you know, with the draft picks and the
quarterback and all that. So we'll see, Uh, yeah, we

(19:38):
will see. What about Ralph and Tampa. You're in the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Ralph? Hey? Rob?
How are you doing? Man? Good listen? Um. I don't
always agree with Chris, but today I gotta agree with Chris. So.
I live in Florida, I'm a Dolphins fan, and uh
we got no state tax down here. These guys are
gonna get Trevor Lawrence. Yeah, he's bring up twenty five percent.

(20:01):
Take a sal I was gonna get that place jumping.
I mean, who are you gonna work for? San Diego
has got a great team. You know. Detroit's a perpetual
loser where the coaching job. San Diego has one of
the hottest rookie chargers. Okay, I mean LA charge job. Yeah,
that's a good job, but brand new, two billion dollars stadium,

(20:21):
a thriving metropolis in that LA. He was working here
at Fox Sports right here in Los Angeles. You can't
tell me that's not a better job. But you know what,
he's not gonna get their organization, like, that's not gonna
give a guy twelve an unproven NFL coach twelve million dollars.
Belichick he got, Yes, that's what that's that's what the

(20:43):
reports are saying, twelve million dollars at five reports. He
wanted Dad, So that's that's that's what. That's what it's saying.
That's why Urban's got a name for himself in Florida. Man,
he's gonna tell him taking nobody comes to see the
damn coach. Stop saying that board, stop saying that route
nobody damn the legend. You know that coaches don't sell tickets.

(21:07):
It's the biggest, uh false narrative ever. Nobody has ever
bought a ticket to see a coach. Coach they go
to see players, They don't do it. Stop it with
the coach. He ain't gonna sell one damn ticket in Jacksonville.
Stop it. He will, Hardy and Kentucky will tomorrow. You

(21:30):
can't even see the coach from the sidelines at the game, Chris,
Come on, they're gonna sell more tickets tomorrow. Stop you're
sounding crazy. No, I'm not Marty and Kentucky. You're on
They for your lifeline. All right, Rob, I hate do
it to you, but man, I'm gonna tell you all
the reasons why it does make sense. Um. Obviously, they

(21:51):
you know, got the first round draft picks that's gonna
bring in fans. Gainesville is an iron fifteen minute drive
from Jacksonville. I cannot believe, when Florida hasn't done anything
since Urban Myers, that he's not gonna bring a draw
with the number one draft if the Owen six, Marty
ain't nobody making the drive. Come on, man, stop with

(22:15):
you fish in Dallas. You mentioned Dallas is a better
place to go. When's the last time they made a
conference championship Urban Myers? Nobody. I'm talking about that. The
nature of the organization. They don't have to fall out
their games. They because nobody shows cleaning. How never be Morty.
Have you been down there they're cleaning? Yes, yes I have.

(22:38):
That's what I was gonna point out. Urban Myer. You know,
he's done a lot of things and he's probably wanting
to settle down. He's been in Florida before and he
liked it. That's an iron fifteen minutes from where he was.
Urban Myer is a huge fisherman. I spent a lot
of time in Saint Augustine Beach. It so he's going
in a retire Is that what you're telling me. He's
going down the Yeah, the fishing is great there. He

(22:59):
loves the fish. He's gonna get the coach football and
try to build an organization and he's gonna make some money.
It makes sense. Call me in three years when he
when he's when he's bowing out. Okay, call me in
three years. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Fox sports Radio dot com and within the iHeart Radio

(23:19):
app search f s R to listen live. Let's go
to mo in San Diego. You're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. Finally, we got the three smartest people
in radio all on the same time. What's up, fist?
So what show are you? What show are you on?
I'm on all these shows. I call in all the time.

(23:41):
I just haven't been able to get through it on
you guys show. I'm an I'm an unpaid advisor here,
So that's appreciate it. Knowledge. Well, well, I want to
speak on both sides, and it really is to me,
you will very rarely do you have all three of
the variables that you need to build a team at
the same time, which is the quarterback that you can draft,

(24:02):
and then either a nucleus or that the amount of
draft picks that they have, and high draft picks they're
picking at the top of each round, not just the
first round, every round they get to be at the top.
And then they got the salary cap. And then on
top of that, you know they're in the NFC, I
mean the AFC South. It's not like you know this
is this is the nineties NFC East here like these

(24:24):
teams can be had there. They have an opportunity to
take advantage there. With that, and those are the things
that are in his favor when it comes down to it.
The things that I concern myself is if Urban Meyers
got a little thing where he seems to get bored
after a certain amount of time. And he's not walking
into this game, into this team with nine wins, you know,
getting off the buzzer. You Ohio State, you got nine

(24:45):
wins before the seasons start. So my concern is and
you could see even though Urban Meyers been gone from there,
Ryan Day just stepped in and they just won nine
ten they won eleven gage without even sweating. Yeah, and
and you're not going to do that because you have
to build the team. I'm assuming he knows that, and

(25:07):
he's going to give it some time, you know, to
to cure. But man, does he have a lot on
his on his plate to be able to do it
with it? Like he knows talent. This isn't recruiting, but
he does no talent. And I got a feeling he
was due. Let me stop you though. Most so the
other college coaches who failed in the NFL, they didn't
know talent. I'm asking when to ask though, is though

(25:29):
it's whist wait man, wait, wait, wait, answer that question.
So that they didn't know talents. Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban,
those guys didn't know talent. They may have known talent,
but what was their philosophy when it came to their
their staff. I don't think the question the question, Rob
wasn't I think you agree Urban Myers a very good coach.

(25:51):
I mean, that's your whole argument. He's too good for
this job. He's too good for this I don't think
the question like, yeah, the question is what type of
job is this? Mean? Is this is just like the
people that want to shoot down you know, Trevor Lawrence
or or Joe Burrow going to the Bengals or to
the Jets. I mean, they got the number one picked

(26:12):
for a reason. They're a bad team, we get it.
But if you win there and they've got things in
place that can help them win, he'll draw fans. You
think they're gonna be winning. Trade ain't slinging it all
over the yard, and they't not gonna draw fans. It
ain't probably think that. It ain't about him, it's about
the It's about him building the program. People don't go
to watch coaches. I'm just telling State Owned a coach

(26:34):
never threw a pass. We get that. That's a nice cliche,
but the fact is, a big name coach does compel
people to you know, Louis, they're gonna be good. Let
me start. Billicheck was hired in Jacksonville. People would go
out and buy tickets. No, they would not, really, they

(26:54):
would be interesting thinking they would. They wouldn't buy it
for that. They wouldn't. They don't go there to see
him in his hoodies. But they would buy it because
they think he's gonna make him a good team, and
that they've been California. You're on the odd couple of goodness.
You're ordering a Gabe. Hey, Rob, you're wrong on this one.

(27:15):
You're wrong. You know you know he's gonna drag I mean,
he's gonna draw fans to the to the field. Come on, man, Rob,
you're tripping on this one. You're tripping bad. You're tripping hard. No,
I'm not. Nobody gave Gabe. Gabe, tell me the last
time you bought a ticket to see a coach or
a manager? What game was? To tell me? You say that?
Literally like, no, no, no, tell me, Gabe. I want

(27:37):
you to answer the question if I do game Hello,
if I'm gonna hang up on you, answer the question,
I would I would have I would have bought a
ticket to go see Ron rivera coach at the Washington
Football Ye. Please stop it. You know what that's that's
so fraudulent. Please stop. It's not it is, it's not.
You don't even see the coach from the field, right.

(27:59):
You're trying to put it in the context that they
want to go see the coach entertain them. Of course
they don't. Nobody's looking at him. But a guy that
you know can coach and that you believe can turn
your team around is going to make people say, you
know what, I think I'm gonna get tickets. Gotta think
they're gonna be good. Yeah, I'm not going to see

(28:19):
Urban Meyer scratch himself, but I'm going to see his team.
I mean, come on. You know, Matthew and san Diego,
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports. His wronster
was around to set you straight. Matthew, Hello, Yeah, what's up, hey, fellas?
I got one. I got one proposed trade that would

(28:39):
saw everything. You take the number one draft pick, you
trade it to Houston for DeShawn Watson self tickets. Jacksonville
has never seen the likes of DeShawn Watson and Urban Meyer.
You want to sell tickets and get butts in the
seat that move alone about it that I agree with

(29:01):
that that now, that's gonna move the needle that's gonna
make You don't know if that I honestly, as much
as I like Deshaun Watson, I'm not sure people aren't
gonna be just as excited over Trevor Lawrence until they
see him play in the NFL. I mean well, I
mean they don't know. But you're right, we don't know
how good he's gonna be or bad he's gonna be.
But he right now he's already a drawn because people

(29:23):
think he's gonna be good. Dougie and Jacksonville, you're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Dougie, Man,
I've been a season ticket holder since nineteen ninety five.
Don't you meet a section season section a holder? Hey
to that for the Jaguars. Always too soon for that Listene, Yes,

(29:48):
for the Jaguars, for the jack jag that's right, all right.
So in in college football, a coach can come in
immediately and angel program. I've always said there's no sport
where a coach makes a greater impact than college football.
Bottom line. Look at Saban, look at Urban when he

(30:10):
was at Florida, and I disagree with you. The state
of Florida worships Urban Meyer. People will buy tickets to
come see the guy coach. Remember he won two national
championships for the Gators. They didn't go to see Urban Meyer.
The team was great stopping, that's not why they went to.
You don't think people in Alabama worship Nick Saban. Yeah
they worship him, but they go because of the players.

(30:32):
They don't go because of Nick Saban. Rob, why are
you on this kick? Because it's dumb. Of course it's
going to the coach. Kids draw fans, don't the coaches
don't draw. Ridiculous that when they're winning, draws fans coaches.
But if you think the coach is gonna make you win,
you that will compel people to go buy tickets. That's

(30:55):
all we're saying. Of course, nobody's going to see Nick
Saban dance, Urban Meyer run a sprint. It's so ridiculous.
I just can't understand how people can keep calling up
talking about that. Right. You know what, whenever you put
the coach on the cover of your media, guy, Chris,
you know what that means? You have a bad team. Okay,

(31:15):
because that's not that's not what that's not what you
want to sell. It's about the players. It ain't about
the coach. Come on, football is very much about the coach.
Football and I would you put who would you put
on the cover football? Who you gonna put on the cover?
More about the park Okay, and nobody's saying that, But
don't act like the coach is irrelevant, especially in football,

(31:39):
and coaches make a big difference in the pros, not
just college. Andy Reid turned Kansas City around immediately. Look
at what Matt la Floor did in Green Bay. Jim
Harball with the Niners. All right, man, y'all got ry?
Parker rilled up. I don't know what. I don't know,
he ate something whatever, But we'll be back in a

(31:59):
few moments. It's The Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Keep it Lock. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and Rob Parker weekdays
at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the iHeart Radio app. It's The Eye Couple
Chris and Rob and uh, this is a TV theme
song Thursday. I know that was one of Rob Parker's

(32:21):
favorites different strokes, different rokes. It takes. Speaking of different strokes,
it takes different strokes to move the world. Oh Hall.
Speaking of different strokes, Rob One, anonymous Eastern Conference executive,
told hoop Hype today that he would have taken he

(32:44):
would have had different strokes than the Philadelphia seventy six ers.
But he said, here's a direct quote. I think Philly
missed an opportunity and now it is stuck being in
the middle of the East. They're not as good as Brooklyn, Milwaukee, Boston,
and in the end Miami. They might just be a
number five seed by the end of the season. Ben
Simmons has not improved in one area of his game

(33:06):
at all since coming into the league. He's the same
player today as he was in his rookie year, and
teams that figured him out in the playoffs. He's why
they won't go far. I agreed Rob that Philadelphia should
have done everything they could to get or James Hard
and everything, of course within reason. From what I'm told

(33:28):
they tried. They offered Ben Simmons, they offered Matisse Thibel.
I believe some even say they threw in Tyrese Maxie
or draft picks with those guys Houston. Houston's to blame
for this. Houston made the bad decision Philly, did they.

(33:48):
I mean, you can't give him the whole team. You
still need some shooters when he gets there. So I
think Philly went after him hard rob and Houston instead
took Victor Oladipo, who's on the last year of his deal,
so he'll either be gone after this season, or you
might just have to max him out to keep him,

(34:08):
which is that's not gonna help you. And you got
four draft picks as some pick swaps with a team
that has three superstars in their prime, so those picks
will likely be in the low twenties. So I just
you know. Chris Hayes, friend of the show, he reported
y'all who NBA writer. He reported that the owner Tilman

(34:32):
for Teita was adamant about not trading Hardened to Darryl
Moorey in the Philadelphia six Ers former Houston GM. So
I can't blame Philly for this, knowing a lot of
what's gone on. I think they tried and Houston just
made a bad decision to meet well. I mean, if
they didn't go all out or sweeten the deal or

(34:54):
whatever it takes, because because I think that GM's right,
they're gonna be in the middle of the pack that
really don't have a chance to win. You got to
have people who can knock down threes in this league,
and a guy like Harden doesn't come available all the time.
That's why even what Brooklyn did, you know, like I
liked the team the way that they had at Chris,
I did, But I understand when you look and you

(35:17):
go a guy like that is available and we have
a chance to get him, you never want to pass
up talent. And he's an an extremely talented player. Everybody
can make their fat jokes and all the other stuff.
Now you were waiting to see what he looked huh
you were making them? Yeah, I said he was fat, though,
I mean John Bagley looks skinny. Now, why are you

(35:39):
saying my job? What do you mean doing I coverage job?
He could play, but he was chubby. He was chubby.
He was a good point. Was he from the Cleveland area?
Where is he from? He played for Cleveland? I don't.
I don't think he was play for the next and
then played for Cleveland in the next Yeah, he was
a nice little player. Yeah, I remember John. But I'm

(36:00):
just saying, like, like down the road, they got sixty
games to get it together, get James Harden and shape,
get Kyrie's head right. If they can stay healthy and
start playing, they're going right. I'm not saying it's easy, Chris,
but I still would rather have talent than acquire than
choir boys with no talent. I'm just telling nothing. I mean,

(36:21):
that's yeah Kyrie though, that's not about choir boy versus bad.
But it's a hard popiously he's out there party and
which is fine, but that if you want to say
a choir boy, but you know, Kyrie, that's not the
choir boy thing. That's he's just not He's ain't there.
But I'm talking about especially when you talk about Harden.
You know, like everybody, Oh he's at the clubs. He's

(36:43):
doing dude, that's fine. People want you come. Can you
come to the ballpark the arena and knockdown thirty two?
Can you give me that for you got people? People
want it hardened for sure, But um, I disagree with
the Scout in this regard of the executive. Philadelphia can
be just as good as Boston Mill To be honest,

(37:06):
they can be just as good as any of those
teams except Brooklyn. If it works for Brooklyn, if it
works in Brooklyn, they should win the East. But Milwaukee,
I mean, yeah, they got the best player in Yannis.
But I think Philadelphia can compete with them and maybe
beat them. Boston. You know, they're young, Kimball, Walker's got

(37:26):
these issues with the injuries. I mean, so they they're
not scaring anybody into in Miami is just not that talented.
I mean that the rob kudos to them, props to
them for what they did in the bubble, But that
team ain't that good. I mean it was, but it's
scenario that worked out for them. That's all nobody. That's
why nobody has them going back or thinking they're gonna

(37:48):
make a trip. It was one of those things. Everything
worked out and it didn't work for the other teams
that were definitely more talented than them on paper, and
they get there. Happens every so often, it does, and
I think if if for whatever reason, it doesn't work
out for Brooklyn this year, and you know, say they stumble,
whatever happens, Philadelphia is certainly a contender to come out

(38:11):
of the East. I think they are robbed like and
I get it. I would have traded Ben. And there's
talk about they got the men fences with him because
now he knows he's on the trade market. Ben just
needs to hey, man up, there's a reason you're on
the trade market. So improved that reason. Start shooting the ball.
