You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. It is the Odd
Couple here Fox Sports Radio. Jonas Knox in for Cris
Brussard alongside the Great Rob park Parker a TV theme
song Thursday and Rob Parker has his own Twitter theme song.
(00:47):
And if you've been blocked by Rob Parker on Twitter,
this song was about you. We will replay that here
coming up in just a couple of moments. From now,
you can hang out with us on the iHeartRadio app.
There's hundreds of affiliates all across the country, and we
appreciate you making a Thursday Night a part of being
a part of your Thursday Night here on FSR. And
(01:08):
Rob Parker, what the hell's happening with you? My friend?
Now that you've got your own Twitter block party theme song,
Hey there it is. I love it. Alex put it together.
Elijah helped put the video together a nice little package
we got on social media. Come on, this is for
all the people I blocked. If you're wondering, you know,
(01:28):
like I don't see Rob Park on Twitter anymore. Did
I get blocked or whatever? This song is for you.
It's my Twitter, and I'll block it by wall to
block it, by wall to flock. If by wall to
you would block too if they tried to dish you. Hey, Jonah, Hey,
(01:51):
let me ask you this question. So the other day
I got a new couch, okay for my apartment. I
bought the same ex Zach couch that I had because
it matched with everything, but I just needed a new one, okay.
The guy get that I don't know, some stains, some
other stuff, you know. I don't want to get into that.
(02:12):
But anyway, so the guy gets it to the door.
It was in a box. He claims it was ripped
at whoever handled it before him, ripped the piece of
the arm or whatever. It's not the biggest rip or whatever,
but it's a rip. So he says to me, you know,
(02:33):
what do you want to do? I take it back
to the store, or I could take a picture. Call
the manager from the furniture department and see what they
want to do. Maybe they'll give you a discount if
you want it. He takes a picture, send it to
the manager. They offered me a thirty percent discount off
the rip. What do you think I did? Send it
(02:55):
back and get one that's not ripped. I took it
with the thirty said discount. Are you kidding me? Come on, man,
come on. I took the thirty percent discount. I went
to home depot and I got um ten second glue
and uh, this weekend, I'll finagle with it and glued
a little rip. It ain't that bad. I mean it's ripped.
(03:18):
Rob If you bought a new BMW, okay, and this
is something that you would buy. Not me, I'm more
of I'm more of a humble guy, all right, weekend
overnights have taught me a humility. All I'm more of
a humble guy. But say you buy a brand new
BMW or whatever your fancy cars. You're driving around and
they tell you, hey, you can have this one normal
price and everything's great, or you can have this one
(03:40):
thirty percent off because one of the doors doesn't open.
Which one are you gonna take? You're gonna take the
one that that works to full capacity. No, wait a minute,
just come in on this side. It's all good. I'm
over the stick shift. Just come on over, it's all right.
Oh yeah, just jump through the moon if yeah, stop
(04:00):
through the mood. So you took the thirty percent discount.
Now where okay? Where is the rip on the couch? Okay?
So so it's it's not it's like a it's a
double love seat, I guess with reclining to not a
real couch. Yeah. So where you would put your drinks,
you know, to have like a little drink holders, like
the console in the middle. Yea of the two okay.
(04:23):
So it's right on the corner of one of those. Okay.
So it's only noticeable when you have the drink console
down or does the drink count const it's always the
stays down. It stays down. So it's in between and
it's right on that little corner. And it ain't the
worst thing in the World's just I'm gonna glue it.
I think I'll be able to do some surgery on
(04:45):
it this weekend. You know what I'm saying, You're gonna
I'm surprised. And now be honest with me, all right,
because there's nobody listening. So I want you to be honest.
Did you try and get more than thirty percent off?
I did try to Pressbyterial him down, but it didn't work,
of course did That's unbelievable. Well, I mean listen, as
(05:07):
long as the rest of it works, you know, I
guess you're in good shape. I mean, what's you know,
what's the problem. Yeah, I'm as good as Anthony Davis. Now, yeah,
I mean apparently who knew Anthony Davis, who is set
to return later on tonight Rob Parker about an hour
and a half from now, the second half of the
doubleheader on TNT. Anthony Davis is going to be back.
(05:28):
He's missed thirty games, but he's going to be back.
And I don't know if you've noticed Rob Parker against
these Dallas Mavericks later on tonight. But now that Anthony
Davis is back, the Lakers are immediately back to being
NBA title favorites, because don't worry about Lebron James. He'll
be back, you know, don't don't worry about the ankle
injury and all the other stuff he's dealing with. Anthony
Davis is back. That's the only concern. I don't know
(05:50):
if you've read or heard, but according to so many
experts out there, it's a shoeing. The Lakers are going
back to the finals. Can you believe it? I can't
believe that. First of all, this team that everybody said
after they won the championship, Jonas had made moves. You
remember that, yes, Schroeder and and and Gasol and oh man,
(06:11):
this team is better than the team that won the championship.
You remember that. That's what they were. That was what
they were putting out there. By the way, isn't it?
Is it Shrewder or Schroeder? Shrewder? Okay, because Schroeder. That
was a guy from silver Spoon. That was Silver Spoons, right,
that was what was his name, Ricky Ricky Shrewder or Schroeder?
I don't know, how do you say it? Right? Yeah,
(06:32):
Ricky Schroeder I think was Schroder. But this is Shrewder, Yeah,
from silver Spoons. Which is why I want much you
could deserve tonight. I won to apple Schroeder. That is
oh my god, what please? If you're doing a ten
minute open mic when things open back up in Southern California,
(06:55):
let that be part of your eleventh minute's terrible Terriba.
Alex already knows we got another we got another open
mic coming it, Yes we did one. But anyway, my
point is there's too many things that have to go
right Jonas for this to work. Yes, first of all,
you gotta get Anthony Davis back. Let's see what what
(07:17):
you know, he wasn't actually setting the world on fire
before he got hurt. People remember that, like he was
having a lackluster year for Anthony Davis. Lebron is in
year eighteen. Uh, you know, he's like used to be
an iron man and now he's been hurt two of
the three years he's been in LA, so we don't
know where he's come, where he'll be when he gets back.
And then the team, the supporting cast, I don't think
(07:40):
is that good. I know they picked up drumming too,
but I don't. I think a playoff Rondo, who's now
playing across the hall with the Clippers is a big loss.
I think they made a mistake getting rid of both
Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee. I think there's a And
then let's look at the Western Conference. Would you say
(08:03):
Jonas is much stronger than it was a year ago. Yeah,
I think it's I think it's much stronger. Utah's better,
Phoenix is better, The Clippers are better. I know they're
under the radar. Nobody wants to talk about them. They're
better this year and I love to pick up a rondo.
I do. And now I have heard reports that Adam
(08:23):
Silver is trying to get Lebron James back faster than normal,
just so he stays off Twitter. I don't know if
you if you saw that or not, but I did
see Adam Silver have that report that came out? You
know what was that? I'm sorry that that Adams Adam
Silver is trying to get Lebron James back sooner rather
than later, just so he'll get off Twitter. That would
that would work? I don't know, but no, I look,
(08:46):
I get it. Anthony Davis comes back, it's a big boost.
I have been consistent on this from the time he
went down with the injury to now. And this is
even before before Lebron James went down with his injury.
When Anthony Davis went down with the injury, a couple
of things happened. The odds in Vegas completely shifted towards
(09:06):
Lebron James being the favorite to win the MVP the
The idea and thought behind it was that because Lebron
James didn't have his his you know, second best player
on the team, his teammate, his partner, that he was
going to have to do it all to try and
carry the Lakers, and if he did so and they
finished atop the West or a top, you know, high
(09:27):
up in the Western Conference, Lebron James would be the
MVP the league. Yes, well that was that's the way
it was set up, Jo. And a couple of things happened,
all right. Number one, Anthony Davis kept his timeline, kept
moving back and moving back and moving back. And that
tells me that they probably thought he was going to
(09:47):
be a little bit better off sooner than he actually was.
And I and then another thing happened. Lebron James went
down with the injury. They can try and tell me
all they want that Anthony Davis feels great, This feels
rushed because the Lakers are sliding lower and lower in
the Western Conference standings. And I just wonder if a
small part of this is if you can get back.
(10:10):
We need him back because we don't want to fall
all the way down and end up with a really
bad matchup in the opening round and Lebron coming back
rusty off the lengthy injury. So this idea that it's turnkey,
just put Anthony Davison, turn it over and the engine's
gonna start. I just don't buy it, man. And that's
on top of the fact that he's got an injury
(10:31):
that we've seen other players come back from, come back
too soon and suffer a worse injury. Allah, Kevin Durant, Allah,
Richard Sherman. I just don't know where this hope and
where this faith is that they're going to be back
to normal is coming from. Honestly, I just think it's
you know, you know, most people, most analysts and people
are lazy. So the easy pick is just they won
(10:53):
last year, so of course they're gonna win. I'm alright, Jonas,
come one d percent, We're all on that. We know
how that goes is just automatic. Oh, I'm not giving
Phoenix a chance. I'm not giving Utah. I don't care
what their record is. I don't care how good they played.
The Clippers lost last year. They can't win, right, That's
all I'm hearing. Yes it's and you mentioned the Clippers,
(11:18):
and people can, in the words of Rob Parker, poo
poo the Clippers all they want. I'm telling you, man,
I think this is the year. I really do. I
think the Clippers are a real threat. I think they're
a problem. And whatever form of Lakers you get in
the postseason, I don't think you're going to get a Lakers.
I think Lebron James it obviously still banged up. I
(11:41):
have questions about Anthony Davis, the guys that were brought
in to replace the players that left the Clippers that
we were told were an upgrade across the board. I'm
not buying it. I don't think that's the case. I
don't think it's worked out that way for them. I
think they got problems and for whatever reason, and maybe
it is lazy, there's just this refusal to accept any
(12:03):
other answer other than the Lakers. And I'm looking at
this in a Lebron era, you know, like this despite
him winning only four times in seventeen years. If you
listen to people, they just automatically think Lebron's gonna win.
It was like last year Jonas for the MVP, like
like they talked themselves into it. It wasn't even close,
(12:24):
you know that, right, Yeah it was. It wasn't even close. Yeah.
It's just if there's this this automatic go to with Lebron,
and I don't know if it's if it's a a
that we don't have enough interesting storylines that are out there.
But if you just go to the Western Conference, man,
I mean, I don't say, you get into the postseason
and you're looking at the Western Conference and you go
(12:46):
to the Western Conference playoffs and it's gonna be a
lot of fun. Man. I don't know if Utah is
a legitimate title contender or if this is one of
these teams that does well in the regular season and
then ends up getting into the postseason. It doesn't have
any answers, But I know this, I think they've got
a much better chance with a coming back from injury
Lebron James and Anthony Davison they normally would. Phoenix has
(13:08):
been great all season long. Whether they can do it
in the postseason, who knows. Denver loses Jamal Murray, but
Jokich is the MVP of the league and they're still yes,
And the Clippers have quietly played really, really well especially
as of late. So if you want to say the
Lakers are the favorite to go to the finals out
of the Western Conference, okay, fine, but don't sell me
(13:31):
the it's a rap. It's over. Once these guys get back,
they're gonna run away with it. I just don't buy it, man.
I think they got problems this year. I really do. Yeah,
I do, And I get it. It's just joined it.
And and it's funny too, like people go, well, you know,
Brooklyn can when look at that, they were all banged up,
but but somehow the Lakers being up doesn't disqualify them.
(13:52):
I'm like, what is that your analysis? That the Nets
are banged up so they can't win, but Lebron hasn't
played for two months and they're good to go. Really,
Anthony Davis just missed thirty games. Y just miss thirty games,
and we're just supposed to. Oh, everything's gonna be fine,
don't worry, They're back to normal. I just don't. I
don't know where it comes from. But if you believe,
(14:14):
are you one of the people that's lazy that believes
that the Lakers are a shoe in for the NBA
championship eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox is the
phone number for you? Eight seven seven nine nine sixty
three six nine, Or do you believe this year they're
gonna have some problems? And do you have a team
(14:36):
in the Western Conference you believe could be the real
issue for Lebron and the Lakers when they try and
make their run again. Eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox is the phone number We'll hear from you. Next
here on Fox Sports Radio, it's The Odd Couple. Jonas
Knox in for Chris Broussard alongside Rob Parker, Stick and
Stay America. Be sure to catch I've editions of The
(15:00):
Odd Couple with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at

the time, but it's more about the stories about what

(15:23):
interactions along the way. We talked to coaches, we talked

listen to it. I think you like it. Listen to
All Ball with Doug Gotlieb on the iHeartRadio app, Apple

I'm Jonas Knox in for Chris Brussard. This is the
(15:46):
odd couple here on Fox Sports Radio. You can you
can hang out with this as always on the iHeartRadio app.
It is a TV theme song Thursday here on Fox
Sports Radio. Parker, I have no idea what TV show
this is from? Man about You? Are you kidding me?
(16:06):
That was a great show. I don't have no Is
that the one with Paul Reiser? Yes, yeah, I never
watch And is it Helen Haunt? I think so. She
was the one on Twitter on Twister right, it was
a fun show. Yes, yeah, yeah, uh yeah, I didn't.
I did not watch that at all. I was too
probably watched. I'm more of a baseball fan. I'm not
(16:29):
really into the sitcoms like you. That's not really my thing.
I love the sitcoms and baseball nonetheless, uh, Rob Parker
and I are skeptical on the Lakers um continuing to
be considered the favorites in the Western Conference and to
win the NBA Championship based on Anthony Davis, who returns
(16:50):
from injury tonight. So we remained skeptical on that eight
seven seven ninety nine on Foxes. The phone number eight
seven seven nine nine six six three six nine also
coming up less than ten minutes from now here on FSR,
we are going to bring an expert in. We're going
to find out what the hell's happening with this whole
MVP thing. All right, this NBA MVP discussion, Rob Parker,
(17:11):
we've jumped the shark now it is. It is out
of controlment. You've got players that are are seemingly focused
solely on wanting to be the MVP. And it's just weird,
like this wouldn't happen in any other sport, would it,
Like I don't remember, no, And for guys to be
out politicking and telling telling people that did the MVP,
(17:34):
I'm telling you I wouldn't want to vote for a
guy like that. I just play, Just play. A couple
of years ago, the NLMVP came down to the final
week and I remember it was Christian Yellich and Hobby
Bias who were who were like the favorites to be
the NLMVP. And and by the way, if you don't
know this, um, Christian Yellich is an outfield or for
(17:56):
the for the Brewers. Hobby Bias plays for the Cubs.
He's short stuff. I know you're not really you don't
really find No, I don't know who those guys are. Yeah,
I'm not quite sure, but no, in all seriousness, it
came down to the final week. I never heard either
one of those guys campaign for the MVP. Of course
not you should campaign. It's crazy, like, I don't hear.
(18:17):
I don't hear people in the NFL camp campaigning for
the MVP. Like I don't hear any of that stuff.
I don't. Oh yeah, don't you remember Aaron Rodgers after
Week three? I'm the MVP? You remember? Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
that one too. I just it's strange. Let's let's get
to some of these people. Let's hear it from the people.
Greg in Birmingham, you're on the eye couple of Fox
(18:38):
Sports Radio. Which what what you got? He dropped? Okay,
I'm sorry. Clifford in Iowa, you're on the eye couple
of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Clifford? Uh Hi? I
am flabbergasted that people are still talking about the Lakers
being a shoe in the Clippers, even when Kawhi Leonard
was out. We're still playing great and I just think
(18:58):
it's ridiculous no one's talking about them. It's amazing because
they really have come together. Ty Low has done a
great job. Jonas considering the embarrassment that that team suffered
a year ago, am I right, Well, it was the embarrassment.
It was also the fact that its clippers. It happened
inside the bubble. Every there was such a heightened focus
(19:19):
on the bubble and everything that was happening there, because
those guys really weren't a bubble, and we were on
the outside looking at the glass, you know, like like
we were at you know, trying to see what was
going on inside, and the Clippers they they fell apart. Man,
you had the stuff with Lou Williams going to to
Rob Parker's Magic City and getting lemon pepper wings. You good.
(19:40):
You had the special sauce that they used there. I
don't know what it is. Yeah, yeah, it smells like perfume.
I don't know how it is. It's where was hot? Yeah?
Why does there leave it alone? Is that the U is? That?
(20:01):
Is that? The quote in Thailand is that I went
is racist? Sag How can we get racist sag it
Taiwan done, Taiwan, Thailand, Oh Thailand. On that. There you go,
(20:22):
Thank you, master Georgia. You're in the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Backs? What's up? Guys? Think Jonas?
How you doing? Bro's always a pleasure to have the
odd couple's best side piece. Of course, the center feam
a really at that point, no doubt. You know, we
know the Lakers are scared. Um, they've been scared. You know,
(20:44):
they're at the fifth spot. They can't afford to fall
to six, seventh or eighth, of course, because not only
the matchups you're gonna face and talent teams, but then
Lebron's got to come back and come back and come
back from even more than what he's capable of. You know,
for me, it's a win win because Anthony comes back
and he gets hurt again or he doesn't play well.
It's just more excuses for the Lebron uh fan club boys.
(21:07):
You know, Anthony Davis was heard, he got reinjured, he
came back too soon. All this is propagated by basically
Lebron and the Clutchers out of Clutch Sports. So it's
our it's irony coming back. I think this is the
Clippers and the Suns to lose. I'd even throw in
Portland with with Dame and those guys they got going on.
I think they'd be more exciting to see um. And
(21:28):
of course the Brooklyn aka that the Detroit Pistons of
the current day, bad boy modern era. So sir, you
know it. And and by the way, he brings up
a good point. Now, they're just laying you know, just
laying it out through the groundwork for the excuses when
when when this all falls apart, because you know it's
gonna happen. You know, you know this is going to happen.
I'm gonna call my shot right now if and when
(21:51):
the Lakers lose in the playoffs. As Lebron game Lebron
James gets up to leave the postgame press comp friends,
I'm telling you right now, he's going to have an
ankle boot on. I'm he'll come in with something. I
still think. I still think the best one was when
they lost to Dallas. Oh yeah, and he said and
(22:12):
he just could he said, well, you guys will go
back to your miserable lies. But whatever I heard that before,
I was like, oh you guys, you guys, go back
to you a little miserable. Lie, I'm rich? What about?
What about after the Warriors when all of a sudden
he shows him with a cast on his hands. Right,
(22:32):
he's and he's wearing he's wearing suit shorts as as
he exits with his with his briefcasebelievable something briefcase handbag.
You know that's what it was. By the way, we

will have that for you. Hear fifteen minutes from now
on Fox Sports Radio. Right now, though, we welcome in
Sean Powell. He covers the NBA for NBA dot Com.
He's been covering the league for a long time. Sean,
Jonas and Rob Parker. What's happening? How are you yo?
What up? Shop? Jonas? Grob? What's going on now? We're
(24:02):
trying to figure out what the hell is happening with
this MVP race? All right? What are we looking at?
Because now it feels like we got players that are
campaigning and everybody's politic and Sean and and it almost
feels like whoever has been injured the least amount is
going to end up winning this whole thing. Where do
you stand on the MVP? Uh? You know what? How
about this letting it run its course? I mean in
(24:24):
particularly if it's a close race. Um, you know I
always try to resist, uh, you know, voting on awards,
like after the fifty sixty games. You know I want
to see I'm not saying that. You know, I have
to see the whole eighty two. Well this season, it's
only seventy two. But I in a close race like
(24:44):
it is now with Mbi Yoki. You know, I guess
you want to keep Lebron in here. I know he's
missed some games. Lebron's not in it. Come on, let's
get off that list. So if you're gonna say that,
therefore LaMelo ball doesn't get Looky of the Year, he
shouldn't get did he missed three quarters of the season?
I mean, okay, So so when the ballots are distributed
(25:06):
to the media, it should come up with a clear
and concise rule. You cannot award this to personal miss
who's miss x amount of games? But the ballot doesn't
come with that. But you don't need to say that,
Sean Seriously, like a guy. I mean, if you're if
you're a credible media guy, you're gonna give a guy
the Rookie of the Year off of twenty five games.
(25:29):
I mean I mean seriously, but Rob, what's the cut off?
The what's the cutoff? I mean, I would just take
a look. I don't know what the cutoff is. I mean,
if he missed ten games or twelve games out of
a seventy two game season, for me, that would be okay,
you had an injury. But the idea that you missed
three quarters of the games, well, I don't can't. Well,
(25:50):
I don't know if he's missed three quarters. But anyway,
the point being is this, when the ballots are distributed,
everybody throws in their own philosophy. Like, for example, take
a guy like step Curry, if this team doesn't get
the playoffs, does that automatically discount him even though he's
having an epic rut? See, everybody has their own philosophy
when it comes to these awards. Because the NFL, major
(26:14):
League Baseball, the NBA, any sports organization that allows writers
to vote for it, they don't come up with a
set of rules, you see, So everybody puts their own
rule in it. And that's when it becomes confusing. No,
I get that part, but but I'm saying, Sean, even
when Kobe the year, what was that? Jonas? Where he
(26:35):
averaged thirty five, had the eighty one points, and the
team was a sixth seed. Two thousand and six sean,
he finished fourth or fifth in the MVP voting, and
he had an epic year because it is about your team.
It does matter if you're winning or not. Yoka just
playing well and has played well all years, played all
the games. And I don't know how people are like
(26:57):
like over an end, Murray gets hurting, it is still winning.
How is he not the front runner? Okay, I want
to answer that, but I want to ask you a question.
Has there ever been in the NBA, in NBA history
an MVP winner who played on a losing team. I'm
sure it's happening and the league has been around amost
one hundred years, but I can't remember it. Okay. Kareema
(27:18):
bul Jabbar who had an epic year his first year
with the Lakers, epic year. He averaged something like thirty
eight a year, but it was just ridiculous. But they
had a losing record and they gave him the MVP. Anyway,
So so so there's president. That's what I'm saying. But anyway,
getting back to your thing about yoga, to me, he's
a front runner because here's the guy who shows up
every every night. He plays, he plays well, he's consistent,
(27:41):
and if I can just be a little bit biased here,
he is the rare big man. In the last twenty years,
every sid Shock Money MVP, there hasn't really been a
big man in contention. So now you really have to
unless you're going to discount and be because he's missed
so much time. But but I think Yo in my opinion,
is a front runner because he's played well. He's almost
(28:03):
averaging a triple double. A fact I say, if Jamal
Murray had still been healthy, uh Yogis would averager triple
double for the season because his assists would be up
with Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray on the board. Sean
Powell of NBA dot Com joins us here. On Fox
Sports Radio, Jonas knocks in for Chris Broussard alongside Rob Parker.
(28:24):
This is the odd couple here on FSR. How concerned
should Peep should the Brooklyn Nets be and Nets fans
be about the setback for James Harden from his comeback
from the hamstring injury? Zero zero? You say zero, I'd
love to hear this Sean. Okay, zero, because because when
(28:45):
you look at a team like the Nets and also
look at a team like the Makers, come on, man,
this is all precautionary. You can kind of just get
a sense that, Yeah, I'm not denying whether players are hurt.
I'm not denying that. But the severe Rtie, I think
if you're Brooklyn and you're a half game out of
first place in the East, you know you're going to
(29:07):
the playoffs. There's no home court advantage because you're not
going to have a full capacity these arenas, did you
really care where you finish in the standing? The same
thing with the Lakers, they don't care. The only thing
these two teams care is if they're superstars are fully
healthy in late May when the ball goes up for
the playoffs. So I say the zero. But and I
(29:30):
don't disagree with you. I think they've been overly cautious
with these guys. But but here's the other thing. If
this continues to happen, just are we getting to the
point where the regular season will become totally meaningless and
teams just will be like, we don't care, We're not
going to play all our guys. There was a big
(29:50):
game what was it Brooklyn and Philadelphia and the Nets
decided to sit you know, uh, Duran and that and
Blake Griffin and Lamark. It's all just we found out
was injured, but but he didn't play. It was like,
we don't care like that. That could have been for
a tiebreaker for the division. Right you're playing Philly, that's
the game you want to win. You want to take
a night off against Memphis or Detroit. I get that,
(30:14):
But they didn't even play in that game. So are
we gonna get to that point, Sean, where the regular
season is meaningless in the NBA? Are we gonna get
to that point? I think we've we've arrived to that point.
Were already Okay, hey, but hold on a second. When
you say the NBA regular season is meaningless to an extent, Yes,
it's meaningless to the Lakers, it's meanless to the Clippers.
(30:34):
Right now, it's meanless. Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, Philadelphia seventy six,
Booklyn Nets. You know what, Milwaukee Bucks. You know why,
because they set a pace where they're so far ahead
everybody else that it doesn't matter. But the regular season
means a heck of a lot to the New York
Knicks means right now, it means a lot to the
Miami Heat because they didn't they didn't set a pace
the way the way that the Sixers did and the
(30:55):
Bucks did. It means a lot to destroy all the Hornets,
all those teams that are need for a playoff position,
like the six, seven, eight spots. Oh, it means something
you're not going to see. Luca Donges have a have
a you know, a rest day, so he's playing. There's
no load management with some of those teams. Sean, last
one for me before we let you go. What's the
difference between this year's Clippers team and last year? But
(31:19):
we don't know yet because they haven't gotten to the playoffs.
So anything we say right now, you know, take that
with a grain of salt. I mean, Paul George can
go up right now and look amazing. But if he
goes back to being in the Paul George we saw
last year in the bubble, then what did it all mean?
He's playoff p What are you talking about? Sean? What
(31:41):
about that? Sean? What about the addition of Rondo and
especially him, They needed a point guard and if he
plays the way he has in the in the playoff.
Playoff Rondo, I think he's a huge addition to that team.
You know, Rob, I've heard this about Rondo now for
what the last ever, since he's that foot back in
(32:01):
LA to join the Clippers. I'm almost prayed. The expectations
for him are just too steep. Yes, he did it
last year with the Lakers to an extent. I mean,
Anthony Davis and Lebron James won that championship, and he's
done it in the past. But does that automatically mean
he's going to do it once more time? I did
the Clippers certainly hope so, and at all signs point
(32:22):
in that direction, but we have to see it first,
and I'm not so sure it's an automatic now with Rondo.
He is Sean Powell. You read this stuff on NBA
dot Com. You came on Twitter at Powell to the people.
I was going to say, he has the best he
has the best handle on Twitter? Yeah, Powell and Sean
you know, do you block people on Twitter? Oh? Here
(32:43):
we go. Never never do Sean. You know, when people
go sideways on me and they do some crazy stuff
or trying to put words in my mouth, I blocked
and I got a new song. I got a block song, Sean.
I'm ready. Here's the block song on Twitter, and I'll
block if by wall to block, if by water to flock,
(33:05):
if by wall to you would block too if they
tried to this you go. You're know what's really bad.
Not the singing, of course, but it's the fact that
the grandys are over with because I think nomination will
you go unbelievable? Great? Now you just guaranteed he's gonna
(33:29):
play Togain next hour? Right, unreal? Sean, Thanks man, We
appreciate it anytime. Guys will see it all right? Jonahs
knocks Rob Parker. This is the odd couple here on
Fox Sports Radio. You can listen on the iHeartRadio app.
Coming up next. You talk about an arrogant fan base.
I hope Rob Parker is going to expose this fan base.
I hope it's another edition of Inside the Parker and
(33:52):
it's yours next here on Fox Sports Radio, stick and
Stay America. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at

Search f SR to listen live. It is the odd
couple here on Fox Sports Radio, Jonas Knox in for
(34:15):
Cris Brussard alongside Rob Parker. You can listen on the
iHeartRadio app coming up in we will call it a
little over ten minutes from now here on FSR, Tom
Brady has done it again. He is pissed off Rob Parker.
We will get into that here top of next hour
on Fox Sports Radio. But Rob Parker, you have one
(34:37):
of the more popular podcasts, especially when it comes to baseball,
the Inside the Parker Podcast on the Herd Podcast Network.
And I know you've been crushing it lately, you guys,
with a very fun baseball season. To start things off,
we every single week here on Fox Sports Radio like
to do a little bit of a preview, a sneak peek,
if you will. And this week's guest is none other
(34:59):
than David Vasse, who's been covering the Dodgers for AM
five to seventy LA Sports for quite some time, and
he's decided he knows and he believes a certain somebody
is the best player in baseball. Who's the best player
in baseball? Is it Mike Trout or is it Mookie Betts.
Mookie Betts has been one of the stars it's been
(35:22):
the it's been the Mookie Show ever since he got here.
Rob He's that catch on Saturday Night is just indicative
of his preparation, his athleticism, and his baseball IQ. He
doesn't make that catch without getting a great jump off
the bat. So for me, Mookie Bets by far is
(35:43):
I know everybody's talking about Mike Trout and Ronald A
Kunja Junior. A Kunya Junior is a great player, so
is Mike Trout. But for me, Mookie Bets has come
up time after time in big moments, and I would
say that he's he's the best player in baseball for me.
Hands down there it is Jonas inside the Parker. You
(36:03):
could always check that out. We usually dropped every Thursday
morning on the Herd podcast network. Where are you on this,
Mookie Bets? You gotta admit, Jonas that Padre's Dodgers series
was pretty awesome, wasn't it? No? It was awesome. Um,
I was actually on the because that first game Friday
night really really late. And so of course, you know,
(36:25):
because you're you know, you're an avid As you always
say you never miss my weekend overnight show. You know,
I never listened to it. So I never missed it,
of course, and god forbid you would ever call in
and hop on and play grab bass for a couple
of minutes and awsome fun. God forbid. But no. It
so that game went late and was happening while we
(36:45):
were on the air, and you could you could tell
by the It's the first time I'll tell you this.
It's the first time I can remember in a long
time that I chose a regular season baseball game in
April over a regular season primetime NBA game. Wow. Like,
I made it a point to watch Padres Dodgers more
(37:08):
so than whatever the NBA game on was, because I
was just fascinated to see what was what this series
is going to look like. And then Tad Tis comes
back after we thought, right Jonas he was going to
be gone for a couple of months with the shoulder
popping out, and this dude hits a bomb to set
the field. Yeah right, I mean, and that he really is?
(37:28):
He is He's worth the price of admission. You want
to watch that guy play. I know, the Dodgers won
two out of three and now to have a series
starting tonight, Yeah, series starting tonight, and uh, but you
know if you listen to uh, it's so, where have
I heard this before? Where have we heard this before?
An LA team dismisses another up and coming team close by, yes,
(37:52):
and looks at them like a little brother that they're
too good for. It almost feels like Lakers Clippers from
last year. That's how this feels like. When it comes
to the Dodgers and the Padres, I eat Dodger fans,
you know, for for an organization and for a fan
base that thinks so little of the Padres, they sure
are happy and celebrating when they beat them every time,
Rob Parker. And the other thing is if they weren't
(38:15):
so worried. And the Dodgers, if you remember Jonas, they
juggled their rotation so that they had top three pitchers
pitched in that series in April. Yes, in week two,
you're you're adjusting your right if it doesn't mean anything
to you, if it doesn't matter, why would you do that?
And now have you figured out when you're gonna go
to your first game? Have you been to a game yet?
(38:36):
Since I haven't been, Yep, I think I'm gonna try
next weekend, actually this weekend, not this weekend, but next weekend,
whether it's the Angels or the Dodgers, but I definitely
want to get back out there. It's been a while.
I'm watching, but you know me, I keep a ball
game on every night somewhere. But yeah, I can't. I
(38:58):
can't wait and to watch the Dodgers and Padres tonight. Actually,
you and I, You and I talked about this when
we were doing some of the local stuff here in
Los Angeles. There was something about the return of baseball
this year that I looked forward to more. And I
don't know if it's just because it just feels right
when it's springtime, the weather is getting a little bit nicer,
(39:21):
and you get a ball game on the days are
staying out. It's it's staying light out longer. It just
feels like we're approaching Memorial Days, summer and and sort
of the the fun time of the year when everything
starts to open back up, especially this year more so
than others. So it's gonna be a lot of fun.
He is Rob Parker. I'm Jonas Knox. This is the
(39:41):
odd couple. We're back for more stick and stay
