R party. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio, it is
the I Couple. I'm Chris. He's Robert coming to you
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Just moments away,
probably about ten fifteen minutes away from the start of

(00:42):
Game two of these NBA Finals. Of course, the Phoenix
Suns leading one game to zero, and they can take
a commanding two oh lead. Now, I picked Phoenix to
win the series in six with or without Jannis, so
obviously think they're gonna win the series. But I will

(01:02):
say this, even if the Suns win to night, I
don't think people should just automatically right off the Bucks
because the Bucks have been down two oh before. Obviously,
they were down two oh to Brooklyn in the second
round and not only came back to win four of
the next five games, but that included a Game seven

(01:26):
in Brooklyn. They've shown in my book that they are
a resilient and mentally tough team. They wanted rob They
wanted Miami in the first round. Why because Miami had
embarrassed them last year in the Bubble and beating them
in five games. A lot of teams might have ran

(01:47):
from that hoped privately that you don't have to see
Miami again. There was talk that their matchups are just
tough for the Bucks, but they wanted them because they
wanted to get over that hump. So I give them.
I think they're mentally tough. Now. Look, I think Phoenix
presents some problems and it's just a better team for him.
But I think the Bucks could rally. I mean, like

(02:11):
I said, I don't think it'll be over if they
lose tonight, and I am picking them to lose tonight.
I think Phoenix ends up going up two old, and
here's the stag got the upset. The teams that have
gone up two old have won thirty one of the
thirty five NBA finals in which that's been the case.
But I think it's a different era with the three

(02:33):
point shot. So I think you know, you're never really
out of a game or a series nowadays. In part
because of that. But you got Phoenix to night why
I mean Milwaukee why? Yeah, I just think because Janni's
got that one game, you know, like he knows where
he's at now, Like the first game, Chris, you're not sure,
you know, you're feeling it out. He only had eleven shots.

(02:56):
I think Drew Holliday has to come. He needs a
big game, a better game. And I also think the
free throw discrepancy I think will change. And and you
know what, Chris Paul's had a great season, but he's
been really balling as he wants, scoring thirty five again
to night forty tonight, I think he's gonna have an
off night. Yeah, And I think and I think Milwaukee

(03:19):
wins Milwaukee. Here's the thing with everybody's talking about the
free throw discrepancy. The Bucks don't have guys other than
Yannis that get to the line. No, Yannis seven for
twelve and the rest of the team Chris had two,
right average, Nobody else on the team averages even four

(03:39):
free throw attempts a game. That's ridiculous. So they just
don't get to the line. Now, y'all a lot that
they had, so I think he'll be I agree with you.
I think you'll be more aggressive tonight. The other part
is to get some Phoenix made twenty four out of
twenty five. That's another. But they're one of the top

(04:01):
free throw shooting teams. And not that I'm saying right yeah,
but they and they just checked this out Rod. In
the three games they've played this year, Phoenix is three
and oh now close games though in the first two.
But Chris Paul, we talked about it with carry kittles,
the mid range shots, the picking rolls that the Bucks

(04:24):
just have trouble defending. Chris Paul's average twenty seven points
a game in those three games against Milwaukee. That's the
most against any team this season for him. Devin Booker
averages twenty seven, and DeAndre Ayton, who gets lives at
the rim. If the Bucks decide to try to take

(04:46):
away that that mid range j on the picking roll,
he that opens it up for Eton at the rim.
He averages twenty against the Bucks, which is higher than
all but two teams he faced this year. So that's
what I mean with some match up problems that they
give the Milwaukee Bucks. But we'll see. Um. I do
expect to see a different Yannis hopefully he's able to

(05:09):
play at the top of his game, and we see
a good a good game too. Here, Rob, let's go
over to baseball and you're going when you leaving, by
the way for the All Star Game Friday night. Yeah,
Friday night. I'm heading to Atlanta because that was originally
Chris ware was supposed to be. So I'll go to
Atlanta for a couple That's the only reason why. Huh.
But no, that's the only reason why you have my

(05:32):
ticket to go to Atlanta, all right, And instead I
changed it to go Monday months ago. You couldn't You
couldn't have changed it. No, No, I gotta go through
Atlanta and then Monday might stop Denver. Who goes? Who goes?
Who goes from LA to Denver through Atlanta? Well you

(05:53):
know I had I gotta change planes. Um, but anyway, Uh,
it's uh so yeah, So then I'm heading to Denver
on Monday for the home run derby and then of
course the All Star Game. Chris, I'll be back Wednesday
on the show. So looking forward to it. But this
is uh, you got a couple of things here that's
different this year. A couple of guys have a turned

(06:15):
down the opportunity to come to the All Star Game.
And again the guys are Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros,
of course, and Carlos Correa of the Houston Astros. Now,
I'm gonna give Corea a pass because he says that
his well he not just says it, but it's true.

(06:37):
His wife is pregnant, and he said, look, we've been
trying to get pregnant for a while. Finally she is pregnant,
and he wants to be a part of it as
much as he can, so he said, I mean, he
went into detail. He said, I want to go to
the doctor's appointments and see the baby on the sinogram
and just enjoy the part, the whole experience to the
degree that he can. So he wants to take off

(07:00):
these four days. I gotta give him a pass on that, Rob.
I mean, I'm not gonna say he's using that as
an excuse. It is a special thing when you have
your first baby, or any any child of yours, it's born.
But Jose Altuvey, he's just saying he's banged up and
he needs the four days rest. Now, Rob, some are saying,
I know you have a strong opinion on this, but

(07:22):
let me just throw this out to you before you
go go in on it. Some are saying that these
two and I guess in particular Altuvea, but both both
of them don't really want to face the heat that
they might get from other players. Because we think about it,
you're generally with your own teammates all the time, right you.

(07:42):
I mean, you play other teams, but you don't really
have to interact at least and with guys that you're
not friends with, right who might not give you any
flack anyway from other teams. So I don't know, maybe
there could be some truth today you buy it that
there's any truth to that that could be. But I
think it's awful helfish of Altuve not and I'm gonna

(08:03):
just use him, Chris, because I'll just give you. I'll
give a career a pass as well. I think it's
an honor to be picked to go to the All
Star team, whether it's by the fans or by the
managers who picked the reserves, Chris, it's an honor, and
I think what you do when you don't accept that
honor is you dump on the fans. Because the All

(08:25):
Star Game is the fans game. It's a chance for
the sport to showcase it's best players, for people to
watch and see who's the stars in the league and whatnot.
It is a big part of the selling of the game.
And I think when you it's a selfish move. When
you do that, you take away from that moment and

(08:48):
that night you know people are different. You could go
look at Hank, Aaron and these guys Chris. They went
to twenty four All Star Game twenty four, do you
know what I mean? And they went every year. It
was an honor. Yeah, it was great to have a
couple of four days off. But but if when you're
the best of the best in the league, you owe
it to your organization to represent them, you owe it

(09:11):
to your fan base to represent you. You run out there,
you have that Houston on your chest, Chris on the
All Star right uniform, and and you feel proud. Man,
my guys made the All Star team. I remember growing
up as a kid in New York as a Mets
fan Chris, and guess what, back then, they didn't take
a player from every team. So there were years when

(09:34):
I watched the All Star Game and no Mets were
on the All Star team because they weren't good enough.
And I used to I used to watch in all
I can't wait to see one of my the players
that I like right at the All Star Game. We're
in the All Star hat. It meant something to me.
I don't want to be over dramatic, but I think

(09:55):
a little bit late, but I think I think people
don't really think about the fans. Chris, I'm a fans guy.
People care, People buy tickets. People you know, pay for
cable and for MLB TV on their laptop to watch
out of state games and all kinds of stuff. And

(10:19):
I think when you do that, you might think, well,
I don't have to do that. I make a gazillion.
I don't feel like going. I don't want to. I
don't want to go to Denver or whatever. It's selfish
and shame on those guys who don't recognize it and
understand that these are cherished moments that you can't get
back and it ain't automatic. Altuve, you know what you

(10:40):
can think to yourself, well, I could go to All
Star Game anytime. You might get hurt. You might never
make another All Star Game. They might stop banging on
garbage cans. For you and you might never make it back. Seriously, well,
it's well said, Rob Well said, and I'm with you.
It reeks of arrogance an ungratefulness, because yeah, it looks

(11:08):
it's special, man, to be chosen as an All Star.
It really is to be chosen as one of the
best players in your sport. I mean I would love
I mean, you know, as a kid you played baseball.
I mean, just to make that All Star team with
special And I get it, these are adults. They've been great,
and they've been the greatest for every year they've played baseball.

(11:30):
But still I agree with everything you said about the fans,
and I do feel like you just not only owe
it to the game, but man, I would want to
be there with all the other great players in the
You know, That's why you wonder if indeed it is

(11:50):
true that our tube just doesn't really want to be
around these guys who think he cheated. I mean that
maybe there may be some truth about that, because oh
wouldn't want and I know something like you said, all
people are different, but man, just to go there and
be like, I'm one of the best players in the
world and you're hanging out with all the other stars.

(12:11):
And look you, Rob, you know this. You can rest.
If you really need a rest, you can tell the manager. Look, man,
don't play me or play me in any or two.
You know, I got this ailment. I'm trying to make
sure it's fine. And even even the whole weekend, you
don't have to be out and about as much you
get out of your family with you. You could make
it low key. Some players do that. Others want to

(12:33):
party and hang out all the time. It's up to you.
But I agree with you that you know in the NBA,
the players tend, you know, they go for the most part.
And Lebron was he he said recently he really didn't
want to, but he realized it was an obligation for
the betterment of the game. And at the end of

(12:54):
the day, as you said, the fans are the engine
that drives the game. I tell you, because if they
don't pay attention, you're a game. Yeah, and you're not
a superstar. And you would let me. Let me say
one last thing, Rob, because you said it. You you
alluded to it. Jose out Tovey. If he indeed is
doing this with negative volterior motives, he's gonna regret it

(13:18):
because you you're young, when you're done playing baseball, and
you only get so many opportunities for an experience like this.
And he'll look back and say, man, I missed out
on that one. You know, I wish I had been there,
you know. So I just think you should go. It's
an honor and you should soak it up and and

(13:38):
do your obligation to the fans. I also, I want
to say, I remember going to the nineteen ninety nine
All Star Game at Fenway Park, and it's like magical moments.
Pedro Martinez pitched in that game. He started for the
American League, and he was the first pitcher ever he
struck out the first four battle and five of the

(14:01):
six outs in those two innings. It was electric, you know,
like it was one of those moments you when you
strike out the first four, these are the best players
in the National League you're facing, you know what I mean,
Like it tells you you know where you rank and
how great you are. It is one of those moments
and you know, right, and it really does so. And

(14:21):
that's when I don't know if it's unfortunately right, I
don't know if it's as competitive now. But when I
was a kid. That's what you wanted to see, the
best go against each other, right, And it felt like
at least the players wanted to, you know, go against
the best too. And it isn't the best of all
the All Star Games. It's still played the same way.

(14:42):
And what I mean by that, Christian, You don't throw
the ball slower, you don't try to let somebody get
a hit, you know what I mean. You're pitching and
you're doing whatever you gotta do. And and that moment
as competitive as it used to be. Ye, I don't think.
I think it's still maybe not the I still think
they trying to get who is it Ray Fasse? He

(15:04):
injured him, He ran over the catcher whose career was
never the same, right, I mean those days are over
like that, I agree with you, But I'm just saying
that Pedro moment, it was electric, Chris, I've been doing
that was that right there? Right was twenty two years ago.
That was nineteen ninety nine, And think about my first
All Star Game was nineteen ninety one. I've been going

(15:26):
for thirty years to All Star Games. It never gets
old for me. No, I might have missed a couple
in there, but for thirty years. It dates back to
my very first All Star Game, which was in Toronto.
Right right, all right, we're gonna throw it out to
you guys eight seven seven ninety nine on Fix eight
seven seven nine ninety six sixty three sixty nine. It's

(15:51):
Jose Altuve disrespecting fans and the sport of baseball as
a whole by skipping the All Star Game. We'll continue
the conversation with you. Next is Chris rob the Couple

(17:40):
off with Anthony and illinoisin I Got too what you twelve?
I'm updated Anthony and Illinois. You're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up Anthony? Hey, just want to
say thanks guy, for my calling you. I love this show.
You guys always have callers. Thank you, buddy. But that's

(18:01):
gonna say about all too bad. I think this is
he's afraid to get picked on. But I think this
is also another way that he can gain the respect
of other players if he goes on compete with the
best and the beast and seeing those relationships back if
he plays. But I think you can make those players
the wrong way that he's not there. Um. I think
it's just turnucky on his part that he's not gonna

(18:21):
be there. I mean as a famos compete, and I
think that's a great way to build the relationships with
those other guys. No, Anthony, no doubt, Anthony, good call
and go Yep, he's right belongs it, you know what
I mean? Could I mean, Granny, you're not gonna sit
there and have an intervention and talk to everybody. Hey, guys,
I cheat him, you know, but still you can you

(18:43):
can kind of get back into normalcy with these guys, right,
But now it's just gonna prolong and it might worse, exactly,
no doubt. Pouring a little salt on the wall. Uh,
Jason in Texas, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio, what's up, Jason, Hey, I was thinking about pissing.
Maybe he doesn't want to be the guy that walks

(19:05):
up to the flight and have a course of booze
thunder down on him on the All Star Game, be
this hot topic on Monday morning. You know what, that's
another great point because you know what, they would get
it and they would get worked over like a burger
and fries. Yeah, no, that's yeah. I guess you know

(19:26):
they're like, look, we gotta face it during the regular season,
but this will be on national team and with everybody
there right right, And these are fans from all over
the country. Chris who come to the All Star Game.
It ain't just people. You know what, you should have
thought about that before you put that transistor radio on
your chest. To your chest, rich And in California, you're

(19:50):
on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Rich? Hey?
Guys up fifty years ago and Detroit. I went to
the Tiger Stadium the All Star Game when Reggie Jackson
hit the light Tower? Did you really that's a classic?
They had nine am I right or wrong? Which nine
Hall of famers in that All Star Game? Absolutely? And

(20:12):
had there was six home runs by Hall of famers
in that game. Yes, and uh, anyway to get the tickets,
I had to go ahead and make out a postcard
and send it in and they drew my name. I
had to go down and buy four tickets for my
my dad and my brothers. And what a great time.

(20:35):
How much tickets? I'm curious? Twelve dollars? How much more?
Play about five or six? Butons? Yeah? Could you believe
that Chris was nineteen seventy one? Correct? Massive regular season?
You get a ball seat for about three fifties, four
fifties something like that. You can't get a coke for five?

(20:57):
Right now to park. It's nice story. Thanks Tony and DC.
You're in the odd couple. Fox Sports Radio. What's up,
Tony Fellows? What's good? It was good? Always a pleasure. Yes,
part of you know, being an adult is being accountable
for your actions. And now two we has to realize
this is bigger than him. He still has kids that

(21:18):
probably look up to him. So go there, face the music,
do an interview where you apologize nationally because some people
aren't gonna forgive you regardless. But then you have some
people that just want the apology and then we could
move on. And but like Chris say, you just prolonging
it when you cheap, avoiding stuff, being adult, apologize, let's

(21:38):
turn the page, you know what. I agree. You know
he's not gonna apologize. No, no, hasn't owns up to it, right,
not at all. But you still could face the fire.
Just face the fire and and and accept it. And
you gotta understand, man, that's what happens when you get right.
Somebody asked you about it, you just say, look, I'm

(22:00):
moving past it. You know, we're having a great year.
All of that's in the past and we're just trying
to move forward. You know. Just I know it's generic
and it's weak, but hey, did you just say it
like that? If you don't want to apologize, which I'm
sure he doesn't. All right, we got trolling a rolling
with Martin White's next, but first, Fox Sports Radio has
the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all

(22:22):
of our shows at Fox sports Radio dot com and
within the iHeartRadio app. Search f SR to listen live
with Marty Wiss, Tom Brady, He's done. Aaron Rodgers did
not have a Pro Bowl season. Trying to gets me right,

(22:42):
it's trolling or rolling. That's right. It signed for trolling
and rolling. I'm the host, Martin White can ducate you
ther first time hearing it. I'll break it down for
you real quick. If Robert Chris liked the story, I
read you here the roll sound they see me? And
if they don't, you hear the troll sound? Oh man, hey,
hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey

(23:05):
hey hey hey. The Hawks for the story of the
Eastern Conference playoffs with Trey youngs eating Atlantic to the
Eastern Conference Finals. Hawks fans should be pumped. But Tony Rustler,
the owner of the Hawks, man clips feathers before the
third truth. We had a chance to fly, he said,
quote we're trying to get vince people who are building something. Well,

(23:25):
let's not kid ourselves. Our job is to run a
good business. If the questions are we scared of going
into the tax. I'm scared of going into the tax
and not being a good team. But if we have
to go into the tax to be a great period,
to be a great team of a period of time,
so be it. Rob The Hawks are fresh off the
Eastern Conference Finals with Trey Young starring. Are you trolling?

(23:47):
Or rolling Atlanta owners comments, trolling them, Oh man, hey, hey, hey, hey,
hey hey, it's just too convoluted and too much. Why
why even get into all that. Just talk about how
happy you are with the run, will do whatever it

(24:08):
takes to win a championship. We're gonna get closed whatever
we need to do, and fans would be all in.
It's too technical for me. I'm rolling with it. I'm
guessing he was asked the questions specifically about are you
willing to go into luxury tax to sign some of
these guys that are on your team, and he's right,

(24:30):
and he's like, look, it's about being accountable. I'm willing
to pay the tax if we're gonna be really good
to win a championship. Yes, but if I pay the tax,
we better deliver. And I'm not paying the tax to
be a mediocre team. So that's why championship. Well, no,
this dude hasn't been the owner that long, so it's
not his fault. I'm with it. Accountability on all fronts.

(24:53):
Trolling the rolling odd couple of five Sports Radio. Now,
I was under the impression that it was wisely considered
that Tyreek Hill is the fastest player in the NFL, However,
people are beginning to challenge at one who really may
have a chance. Dk Metcalf, who of course caught Buddha
Baker and an amazing chase down tackle three Toda Hills

(25:15):
today saying, quote, get at me next off season, Chris.
We saw all types of NFL players doing all these
races all off season, troll or Roland. DK Metcalf could
beat Tyreek Hill in a footbride. I'm trolling it. Oh man, Hey, hey, hey,
hey hey, how d k looking a hundred meters? I'll

(25:36):
look at Chris my right, did he finish heights out
of eight? I get it? World class? Right, I'm gonna saying,
come on, Ben, you gonna hold out against them? No,
but look DK ran a four three three forty and
Tyreek ran a four two nine. So Tyreek is five.
I know that that doesn't look like a lot, but

(25:58):
that's actually a decent little margin in the forty yard
dash when you're talking about world class sprinters, at least
world class as far as NFL speed. Um, So yeah,
I'm with Look, I do think Tyreek Hill is the
fastest guy in the NFL. DK is a specimen his
speed for a guy. That size is ridiculous. But I'm

(26:19):
going with Tyreek on this one. I'm rolling with it. DK.
He has to feel good even though he finishing last place,
Chris against the world class athletes, that he was even
able to go out on that track and have a
respectable time. You know what I mean. It's just a
tenth of a second difference between first and last. You know,

(26:43):
it ain't like he he was three seconds behind or anything.
He knows that he can roll with these guys and
he knows where his speed is. So I like that.
He was like, come see about me. You know what
I mean, Latitude, You ain't taking him over Tyreek though
I don't think. Yeah, I am. Yeah. If they right now,
if they race rob wing beat, if they do it,

(27:06):
we'll do it. What's your what are your saint? Martin?
Who you got? I was I was gonna say, I
know this for a fact. I'm gonna sit there watching
the first quarter of the game. They both run one
hundred meters faster than Janni's hunt. The Cooper shoots the
free throw, he just airballed another one. I saw it.
It's yeah, look I can't for it's been toughness because
he'll stays. But the bigel was watching the game at

(27:29):
home and just punch the air. I'm sorry, it's all right.
I mean, he's one of the best players in the
world and he's airballing free throw. That's tough. It's not
an easy sport to play. Chris trolling a rolling on
couple of Fox Sports Radio. Another easy sport. Another sport
that's not easy to play. What it's not an easy
sport to play. It's easy and it ain't that hard

(27:49):
to hit the rim on it or the free throw.
That's all I'm saying. Maybe you were one of those
kids when when'd you stop playing? Fourth grade? No, I
stopped playing in high school. You know you must the
air ball if you sound like you airball to free
throwing the game. Oh No, All I could do was
shoot and jump. That was it. Okay, I could I was.

(28:12):
I was definitely athletic, so I could get it in
the way on defense. But that's pretty much a scouting report.
I knew early on. I put DJ Augustine told me,
not told me, showed me at fourteen years old that
I wasn't going anywhere to play basketball. Played the game DJ.
He was so good at fourteen years old that you know.
It was like, there's no chance we were the same height,

(28:32):
same way, same everything. And I was like, nah, I'm
told me. You know I'm going prom with something other
than the sport. The only thing is that DJ never
got in each taller from the time y'all were fourteen, Right,
you're one of those dudes that you didn't get one
of us were both the same. Mike Wow, but angel
screen m show Hao. Tony is crushing it right now.

(28:53):
He just broke the Decky Matt Sewis record of thirty
two home runs in the season by a foreign born player.
He leaves the Lyaun He's got a four one winning
Laws record as a starting pitcher. He's the first guy
elected to the AU Star Game as a picture and
a hitter. Simply put Otani, he's doing things in a
baseball diamond we've never seen before. But it's been a

(29:14):
small sample size. Rob trolling a rolling OTII will be
able to excel as a picture and hitter for his
entire career. I'm trolling it. Oh man. Hey, what he's
doing is phenomenal and he has lived up to the
to the billing and as advertised and more I mean,

(29:36):
he is something to watch, there's no doubt about it.
But I think it's very difficult to continue it. We
talked about it before, Chris and I Babe Ruth did
it for five years and then that was it. And
then it just depends on what happens and then and
truth be told, which I know people gonna think I'm crazy.
Of all the things that the Angels need to be

(29:57):
a good team, they need pitching. So in reality, Otani's
probably more valuable to them if he would have concentrate
on pitching than hitting. Yeah, I'm trolling it as well.
Oh man, Hey, hey, I really hope I'm well. First
of all, we know he's not gonna do it for
his whole career, right, but you want to say the

(30:19):
bulk of his career. I'm still trolling it. I hope
I'm wrong. I'd be I'll tell you what, though, I'd
be happy if he could do it for five years, right, honestly, Rob,
If he could do this five years, yeah, I mean
we look back at Babe Ruth and we say, oh,
he only did it five years. Yeah, But in the
right we're in the moment right now. If o'tany could

(30:42):
do this what he's doing now. Even if he's not
quite at this level for five years, that would be incredible.
Ten years would be remarkable. So but I gotta be
and I hope, gosh, I hope I'm wrong. I hope
he can do it for a five or ten years.
But I just wonder about I just yeah, the injury bug.

(31:03):
I mean he's already been banged up right early in
his career. Yeah, that that just scares me. I mean,
you got two opportunities to get hurt now, right, So, um, yeah,
I doubt he can do it, but hopefully he can.
I would love to be wrong on this one, all right,
mister Weiss, great stuff. Um, I got a bet for you, Jordan,

(31:25):
bet the Clippers don't win the championship. This is radio.
That was about how bad that bet was that you
made me though even Rob agrees with me on that.
It's like, it's like top ten lists and then come on,
what do you but none of them was making thirty

(31:47):
million dollars with the top ten lists? About that? I'm
just hoping your bite one one of these days, Martin.
That's all you who you got series on the record
to Rob Parker as the last week got said Suns
and six again today. All right, Yes, we were in

(32:08):
the Lemon Pepper Parlay podcast. Your pig Rob was what
Milwaukee in seven? No, put your sons in six? Oh
you did? So we all picked the Suns and I'm
I'm doing grow Sorry, I'm doing I got no kids
now he special twice. Great stuff is always brother peace. Alright, alright,

(32:30):
it's the Eye couple. We're gonna talk about naomial Socker.
She's got the bright idea. We'll discuss just how bright
it is in the next segment. Keep it like a couple.
Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports

(32:54):
is uh the I Couple coming you live from the
Fox Sports Radio Studios, wrapping huge show a TV themes
on Thursday. This is what was Dallas? Remember Dallas? Yes
you don't remember that, the Cliffhanger who shot JR. I
was like the biggest thing man people were. That was

(33:15):
when television remember the Whole Country Man All Races ages.
I was freaking I think seventh grade or something. People
were like don't like like like they were at dinner.
They recorded it on the VCRs. Don't tell me who
shot JR. Remember that? Yeah? It was it was like,
I mean, you're right, they really captured the nation. Um,

(33:38):
we're gonna wrap it up. We're talking about Naomi Askca,
the great tennis player who pulled out recently was a
month ago or so, within the last month of Roland
garrols um because she didn't want to talk with the media. Rob.
She wrote a column today at least I think it
came out to Day in Time magazine recently. Uh yeah,

(33:59):
July nine, Today, Time Magazine July eighth, about why she
did that and she had some suggestions. The title is
this on the front page of Time Magazine, It's okay
to not be okay Naomi Osaka on her first Olympics prioritizme,

(34:20):
prioritizing mental health and why sports needs to change now
now basically Rob. She says that when she decided she
didn't want to talk to the media and because of it,
pulled out of the Roland Girls, She said that it
wasn't about the media, but she just doesn't like the

(34:43):
way press conferences are set up and she feels like they.
I'll read a direct quote from her column. However, in
my opinion, the press conference format itself is out of
day and is in great need of a refresh. I

(35:04):
believe that we can make it better, more interesting, and
more enjoyable for each side, less subject, verse object, more
peer to peer. And so that's one thing. And the
other thing she kind of said is that athletes should
be given quote unquote sick days, so if they don't
want to speak to the media, you know, for a day,

(35:28):
you get maybe a certain number of quote unquote sick
days for mental health or something where if you don't
want to talk to the media that day, you're excused.
Go ahead, Rob, No, you go ahead, because I just
threw up in my mouth. He is the most ridiculous
thing I ever heard. People are so spoiled. They think

(35:49):
that she thinks she's punishing us, Chris, that's really what
she thinks. She thinks it's about us, And I don't
want to talk to them. They ask me question about
why I lost or what happened there? Why did I
double fall? What happened? Really, that's the worst thing in
the world. And you asked a question about the game

(36:11):
you played. I just don't get it. It ain't that hard.
People have been doing it for one hundred and fifty years.
You come out, you answer five or ten damn questions,
and you go on with your life. What is wrong
with people? We don't need to reinvent the wheel. No,
we don't need no sick days, no handle your responsibility.

(36:34):
Do what you're just fall in line. And if you
don't want to do it and you don't want to
deal with the media, get another line of work. It's okay,
play tennis in the park with your family. Nobody will
ask you a question that was a heck of a no.
You go ahead, Chris. We should have made this a league. Look,

(36:57):
I'm sorry the attack on the media. I can't take it.
I don't know what she means by peer to peer.
What is that Like? Are you saying, if you play tennis,
could you ask her tennis question? Yeah? I really does
she want athletes to sit up there and talk about
what the match was? I'm just wondering, like, or do

(37:19):
you want there to be you? I guess you're saying
more respect between media and players. I think there is.
The media is just doing their job because they ask
you a tough question doesn't mean they don't respect you.
That's their job. That is literally peer to peer. It's
you know, So I don't know exactly what she means
by that in terms of six days. Look if you

(37:43):
first of all, she wasn't asking for six days at least, right,
she was asking that I'd be off the whole tournament.
I don't have to talk to media, And like you said,
I don't agree with a sick day. But if you,
if you decided, Rod, we both have covered you know,
the NBA and NFL and Major league, and there are
times an athlete just doesn't want to talk and they'll

(38:04):
get fine. So if you don't want to talk this
day after your match, then that's fine, but you'll get fined.
And so you don't get a paid sick day off, no,
because you get you get days off like everybody else.
If you're sick, don't play the game, right, you want
to take a sick day where you don't play a match.

(38:26):
So it just goes more into and I get it.
I Look, she's got some anxiety about these questions, and
her sister kind of let the cut out the bag.
She just didn't want to answer challenging questions. And I get, okay,
it bothers you. But Rob, it's what we were talking

(38:46):
about before. Everything is in mental health. If you want
to say, look, it's a challenge. Some people are more
outgoings than others. Some people have trouble speaking in public,
some people get stage right, some people are shy. We
get that. I don't think that's a mental health issue.
I think that's just that's your personality, you know, And

(39:11):
there are serious mental health issues and we gotta deal
with that. But I don't feel like asking questions about
my struggles on this type of court. That's not I
don't think that's a mental health issue. I think that's
just you know, you just didn't want to deal with
the media that day. But you know what, we all
have things we don't want to deal with, Rob every

(39:32):
single day, and we got and some everybody, every single person.
And this is what we gotta tell the millennials. And
everything ain't gonna be peaches and cream. There's things about
our job we don't like. There are things where you
you just gotta suck it up and deal with it.
And if it really is too hard, then you don't

(39:53):
talk that day. But you get fined, you know, it
just everything is not suit it to each one of us.
See you tomorrow, peace,
