You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. All right. It is

producer in for Rob Parker, and we're coming to you
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios and Rob g
(00:46):
I gotta be honest, I'm excited about this preseason game
that's about to take place in a few moments. I
really am, because I'm surprised. You you mocking that, because
we got Jacksonville and we got New Orleans. And here's
why I'm excited. I want to see Trevor Lawrence, the
number one overall pick for Jacksonville. And I want to
(01:09):
see Jamis Winston and Taysom Hill, the two guys battling
for quarterback in New Orleans. There's nothing better than two
widely mediocre quarterbacks dueling it out for a starting game. Hey,
I mean, I'm looked. They're both well. Jamis is still young.
Jamis is still young enough to turn his career around.
(01:33):
Would you would you disagree with that? No, I would
agree with that. I mean, I just he's he's had
bad habits going back to Florida State. So I don't
know how I do think a year behind Drew Brees,
it ain't quit. A year behind Drew Brees in New
Orleans with Sean Payton, I could help him. His body
looks better. I mean, you've seen him. He looks like
(01:54):
he's in better shape. He's obviously a little more serious. Now.
I look, I'm not predicting greatness from him. I'm just
saying I want to see these two battling. Now, let
me ask you, So we're gonna go into a couple
of quarterback battles around the league, but these two teams
have them. Urban Meyer, first year head coach in Jacksonville,
(02:16):
obviously the legendary college coach. He is yet to name
a starter, and he's a lot of people think he's
just you know, Yeah, a lot of people think he's
just saying stuff and he's just you know, wants to
make the young kid Trevor Lawrence work he's battling Gardner Minshew.
All right, I do think Lawrence is gonna end up
being a starter. But I don't have a problem with
(02:37):
what what Urban Meyers doing, because I think you should
make your rookie number one pick or not make him
earn the position. Make him earn it because that especially
as the first year coach, because when your other players
see that you made him earn it, that increases your
(03:00):
respect in the locker room. And I think it helps
that player in the locker room because his teammates know
he wasn't just handed the job. He had to go
out and take it. I would agree with you if
it were a legitimate quarterback battle. And by all accounts
from everything I've read, Trevor Lawrence is beginning almost all
of the number one reps in practice. So is it
(03:22):
really a quarterback battle that they have in right now
or is it just we're not giving him the satisfaction
of being named the starting quarterback yet? I think it is,
and I think he should get the number one reps
because you want to see what he can do with
your best players. But we know what Minshew is and
I get it. He hadn't won a lot, but his
numbers are Baker Mayfield ish all right, and that's not
(03:45):
Tom Brady ish or Aaron Rodgers ish. But Baker Mayfields
a good quarterback, and Gardner Minshew is a solid quarter
He'll probably be starting somewhere else once Trevor, you know,
fully takes the job job and and and this becomes
his team. But you got that battle and then in
New Orleans. Look, I like Winston. I think Winston should
(04:09):
be the starter. You don't like the greatest football player
in NHL history, and Taysom Hill, who is it this? Yes,
get him on the show man. We got to talk about. Yes,
we do, we do. Let's get on that quickly. But no,
I mean, I'm with Winston, all right. We saw Taysom
last year. And look if people figured out Lamar Jackson,
(04:33):
and I know Taysom can throw it fairly, well, uh,
they will figure this dude out, that's for darn sure.
And I actually think they figured him out last year
when he's the full time started. So I like to
see Winston do it, but you know he's got to
earn it too. I just think he's got far more
upside than Taysom Hill. Oh, I don't know about all that.
(04:53):
I think if it's just an upside upside this Taysom
Hill have, well, he can move, you know, and gonna work.
You can say that about a lot of guys though,
but in in recent memory, I can't think of a
pocket quarterback who's really blown up in the NFL the
last few years. Can you a pocket quarterly? Pocket quarterback?
(05:14):
Because that's what James Winston is, Like, I know, the
stigma is because he's a black quarterback that he has
to be athletic and that's that's not his game. Like
he's I hear you, you know, Brady, Tom Brady. But
still recently recently, I can't think of a guy recently
that that has really blown up that wasn't a mobile
quarterback in some facet, I hear you, But I think
(05:38):
he's still And again I'm not predicting he's gonna be
a top three quarterback. I'm just saying he can throw
that rock. And and you mocked him in tamp in
our last segment that I dusted. You heard you heard,
look you you had your little high school pals call
in and support you. But who who did Dante Whitner
agree with saying you who did the expert, the pro bowler,
(06:04):
the professional agree with hey man, you're trying to say
that our callers are not experts. Yes, I love y'all,
but no, all right, but anyway, we want to get
to a few other quarterback competitions. You got him going
on in San Francisco and Chicago. Let's start with San Francisco.
And I talked about it with Dante and he obviously
(06:25):
brought up some intelligent points. But who would you go with?
If you were Kyle Shanahan, who would you go with?
You got Trey Lance, the rookie, and you got Jimmy Garoppolo,
the incumbent. Who would you who you like to see
in that? If I'm the forty nine ers, I go
with Trey Lance. I think that they traded up for
(06:47):
him for a reason. I think that they know that
Jimmy g even if he has named the starter, if
they were really that confident in him, he wasn't gonna
finish the season because he just can't say healthy okay.
So that's one issue. The other one is you can
tell by watching the way that Kyle Shanahan draws up
plays that he really wants a dynamic quarterback. He wants
(07:07):
a guy that can do more than hit the obvious pass.
And even then, Jimmy G doesn't always hit the obvious pass.
Sometimes he has to go off script, even though it's
not really his game. That's where he gets in a
lot of trouble. That's why Kyle Shannon has taken the
ball out of his hands in the playoff games because
he doesn't trust him as a quarterback. So when you
have a team that's that good around him where they
(07:29):
can kind of make up for a lot of the
mistakes that any rookie quarterback is inevitably gonna make. I
think you go with the guy with the higher up side.
See I disagree, and I think they should go with
Jimmy G. And you might very well be right. That
he gets hurt in week seven or week ten or
week five, whatever it might be, and that look, that's
why they're they drafted, That's why they moved up to
(07:50):
get another quarterback because he can't stay healthy. But here's
the deal, and you heard Dante Winner talk about it.
When he's healthy, they win. Rob you know I've said
it to Rob Pe. They're twenty two and eight when
he starts. In the four years that he's been there.
They're seven and twenty seven. Now, Kyle Shanahans coached in
(08:13):
those thirty four games. That defense has been there in
those thirty four games. That running game has been there
in those thirty four games, and they go seven twenty seven.
And I'm not trying to make Jimmy g into some
poor man's Tom Brady or anything like that, but I'm
saying they made him the highest paid quarterback in the
(08:36):
league all five games for a reason. A few years ago,
they got to the Super Bowl with Jimmy G for
a reason. And I know they, like you said, they
didn't throw the ball in the playoffs very much. That's fine,
that's an understatement very much, right, Okay? At all? He wins,
and I get it. Trey Lance is the quarterback of
(08:58):
the future. To me, this is almost identical to the
situation in Kansas City where you had Pat Mahomes sit
for a year behind Alex Smith. That was a good team.
They went eleven and five. Alex Smith was a good quarterback,
not great, but a good quarterback, and Mahomes was lighting
(09:21):
it up in practice. You heard stories, but y' also
heard stories that some guys. I think Tyree hillsaid, he
didn't think he was that good early on. He grew right,
he grew and he learned, and that's the same thing
that can happen with Trey Lands. Why the rush, There
is absolutely no rush. This dude has not played a
(09:42):
lot of football. He played at the f CS or
FBS level Division one, Double A and it's only played
one game, And like with the last year and a half,
and so why rush. You're a team that's got designs
on getting to the super Bowl. So go with Jimmy
G as long as he can. And I'm with you,
(10:03):
he probably won't make it through the year, but go
with him while he's hot, or if he just stinks
it up, then you can throw in Trey Lance. But
you got a chance to be one of the best
teams in the league with Jimmy G this year. Why
not play that out? And look at Pat Mahomes, we
don't I don't think. I think he's better for having
(10:25):
sat and learned and watched and had the headphones on
and you know all that goals into learning in your
first year as a quarterback. He benefited from that, and
I think Trey Lanz could do the same. That's fair
but I'd also say that Alex Smith was a much
better quarterback than anything that Jimmy G has shown. Even
if he had made the Super Bowl, Alex Smith, I
(10:47):
wouldn't agree with that Alex Smith. Alex Smith lost the
job to Colin Kaepernick. Well, Colin Kaepernick at the time
that he blew up was considered one of the greatest
quarterback prospects. Ever. The way he was playing of courding
to Ronny As three hundred yards, he was looking like spectacular.
I agree with all that, but I'm just saying I
(11:08):
don't want to make Alex Smith out to be like
he was some perennial pro bowler. I mean, he was good.
He was a very solid quarterback. And I don't know
if you could say the same thing about Jimmy G.
Really No, how is that he's had one good season
well because he's only been healthy exactly exactly And I
(11:29):
get that. I get that that's that's his problem. Yeah,
and he'll probably get hurt this year, so why not
let him play? And I know un till he gets hurt.
I know that wins and losses is obviously the most
important stat but they're also his contact come with it.
If it was just about wins and losses, then Tim
Tebow would have started more than one season in Denver.
Like the Tim Tebow was so bad, there's Jimmy's not
(11:50):
that bad. There's context that you have. He's Jimmy G.
Are you really saying he comes not Tim Tebow? But
if you're just gonna say that, hey, he wins, Tim
Tebow want to but everybody knew by watching him that
they could clearly upgrade from that position. And I think,
but watching Gee, you know you can clearly upgrade from
that position. They're bad without Jimmy G. Like, that's the thing.
(12:12):
Everybody wants to say. Oh, he's got the defense, he's
got the running game. They have that. When it was hurt,
the three places were Mullins and CJ. Bethard. Look seven
and twenty seven and twenty two and eight. Come on, man,
that's all the brothers singing. That's all the brothers sing
All right, let's let's throw it out to the callers.
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven,
(12:36):
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. Who do you
think should start in San Francisco? Trey Lance, the rookie,
the hot shot Rookie or Jimmy Garoppolo who seems to
get no love eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox

And if you're dealing with a dead battery, you know
what to dude on fret, don't worry, don't cry, don't
pull your hair out, Just head on over to all
(13:20):
those owns. It's America's number one battery destination. I've been
there many a time. They got them on every corner.
Plus they offer free battery services like free battery test
them free battery charging. So next time you're having battery problems,
head on over to all those on your battery solution
and America's number one battery destination, Rob g. Before we
(13:42):
get to the cause, do you want to apologize? I'm
gonna give you a few now. I want to pull
one out for Bobby say, I'm right, No, I want
to put one out for Bobby A Bear. I'm not
gonna apologize for anything. Well, yes, do you know what
I'm talking of? Jamis Winston on the opening drive four
to four sixty six yards, including a deep touchdown pass
a forty three yard perfectly thrown. What perfect? Was a
great catch? Perfect? It was a phenomenal catch, I thought,
(14:06):
I mean he was you talking about pass interfeer? They
passed interfere for the last five yards of his route.
But great catch. But perfectly thrown too. That was a
good thing. I mean, really thrown into one place that
only he could catch it. But yeah, Jamis look good.
And Trevor Lawrence's big response three and out baby, Well, yeah,
not his fault. They don't have much to work with.
(14:28):
I know your partner, Jim Jay Mack thinks they gonna
win the division. He does. Actually, he's got some money
on it on a couple of places. Yeah, yeah, crazy
all right, eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine, Your
turn to weigh in. Who would you start in San Francisco?
Trey Lance or Jimmy g Let's get out to the call.
(14:49):
Jupiter Jackson is in Arizona. You're on the couple Fox
Sports ray a week got Jupiter. Ah, what's up, guys,
what's up? What's up? Man? So I just want to
point out that if we look at week one and
week two, Jimmy g is gonna win those two. Then
(15:10):
week three we go against the Packers. For the last
time they had to do this four rushing touchdowns. Last
time A Shanahan did that was against the Broncos and Packers. Ah, okay,
so I take it you're leaning on Jimmy Gee for
this one. Is he still there? Ah? He got a
(15:34):
little style, a little flavor. I gotta give him credit.
I don't know what his answer was, but it was
a memorable Fune call. Yes, all right, let's keep it.
But he makes a good point. They got two easy games,
then it gets rough. They got Green Band. I think
they have two up two tough games after that. Yeah,
if there wasn't a division, if there was a case
(15:55):
to not start Trailers, even if he fairly gave you
the best chance to win, it's because you know, it
gets rough early on in the season. So if you
if you want to give a guy the best chance
to succeed. You don't want him to lose a lot
of games early. And I mean they're a team with designs, right,
I told you super Bowl designs. You don't need to experiment.
(16:17):
He's he's the future for the next fifteen years at least, right. Yeah.
I mean, but Big Ben started most of the FOK
season and they won fifteen and one. I know, I
get it. I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm
just saying I've got a quarterback I know can win,
we can win with. And if Jimmy G goes out
there in flaws, flat on his face, then so be it.
(16:39):
But I'm moving one after this year. Anyway, why not
put Jimmy G out there, maybe has a great year
and you win, and then you can trade him for
a lot of stuff. We'll see, We'll see. I will
keep it moving though. Back to the calls. Kyle is
in Jersey, Kyle, you're on the akable Fox board. What
do you got, Kyle? What's up? Man? What's up? Fellas?
(17:00):
What up? Chris? Um? So, I'm definitely going to tree Lance,
like definitely like Tree Lance. Definitely. My guy um Paul
shannah And has been trying to get rid of Jimmy
G for a while. We all know the direction he
was going and um, Jimmy G is he's an injury
machine and um it's over. We all knew just to
(17:23):
ride on the wall, he's going to get be used
as a good a nice little trading chip to help
tree lance and even in the future so that could
be more weapons. Um, and yeah, Jimmy G wasn't winning Bay.
He came to a winning team and hold up, he
he what he came to a winning team. They were
(17:45):
when he got there, you know, but they had they
had they had the weapons, they had the weapons up.
Everything was all. But then why are they seven and
twenty seven when he doesn't play? Who was who was
(18:06):
the quarterback? The quarterback before that? Because I'm just saying, like,
we gotta give the dude something again. I get it,
he's not a pro bowler, but my I mean the disrespect, well, Chris,
I think that what he was trying to say. I
hope this is what he was trying to say. No, no,
(18:28):
they weren't. And you're arguing about Jimmy G and his
winning record versus when he doesn't play is legitimate, and
it's fine, but there is a difference between what Jimmy
g is giving you on a on a game to
game basis and what he's maybe like a twentieth best quarterback,
you know, back half of the starters and something like that.
(18:50):
But he's definitely one thousand percent better than the guys
he were replacing him, the Nick Mullins, the CJ. Bethard,
whoever was starting with for that, Like, he was clearly
better than those guys, right, So it's unfair for anybody
to say that. You know, he came into a perfect situation.
You know, he's not great, but he's definitely better than
(19:11):
what they had. Yes, so let's keep it moving though.
Alex is in Iowa. Alex, you're on the oy couple,
Fox Sports Rader. What do you got, Alex? You gotta
agree with Chris. I mean, the proof is in the pudding.
They win with him, and like you said, without him,
their records a complete opposite seven twenty seven. I mean,
you can't say he's not proven. He's taken him to
(19:33):
a super Bowl. When they got him, he was the
golden child. He got hurt a few times, and now
they just dump him off fan wise, but you can't
you can't live by records. The NFL is about winning,
and he wins. They're absolutely and look the year they
went to the super Bowl. We all remember those playoff
games where he threw it eight times in all that jazz.
(19:54):
But look at the regular season. Remember the game against
New Orleans obviously a huge game, Robot, he throws for
three forty nine and four touchdowns, you know, like he had.
It's not like the dude is a stiff, That's all
I'm saying. No, he's not a stiff, but he's not
so good where this is an opening shut cage, you
(20:15):
know that. Well, look, I'm moving on from him after
this year. There's no question about if they make the
Super Bowls, they're moving off from him after him there
that they obviously got the talent to make it, I think.
I mean, look, if they were to win the super Bowl,
obviously maybe things change. It depends on how good he was,
(20:37):
how how well he played um and and there again,
even if he wasn't the driving force, the fact that
they would win the Super Bowl with him would have
to make you think but you could move on. I
mean it'd be hard, but you know, I'd be fascinated
to see what the thot goal is in San Francisco,
because I think we all agree that they're going to
(20:57):
move on from him after the end of the season
the way right, It's just would winning a playoff game
be enough to keep them with, you know, winning two?
Think so because they are if they got to the
conference championship game, that might especially if he was lightening
it up. I don't think winning one playoff game is
enough because this is a team that you know that
(21:19):
that won't be special to them, you know what I'm saying. Yep, yep,
we gotta time for one more quick one, our man.
Marty's in Kentucky. What's up, Marty? You're on the KABA
Fox Sports Radio. Marte, what's up, fellows? How you doing
this Magic City Monday? Good brother, Good to hear from you. Well, guys,
I've been on the Trey Lance wagon since this discussion
(21:41):
started months ago, and Chris has changed my mind. He
made one huge Rather to be stronger than that, Marty,
Jimmy g is going to probably get hurt before the
season is over with, so why not go with him
and let Lance just come in naturally? I can tell
(22:02):
you two Hall of Famers with a combined nine Super
Bowl rings right now, Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady who
who came in after the starting quarterbacks were injured, and
they did it the natural way. And I just think
that was a good point because he's probably gonna get injured, right.
I'd be surprised if he made it through this season,
(22:23):
I really would. I mean, I don't hope he gets hurt,
but you know, come on, that's his history, all right.
It is the odd couple coming you live from the
Fox Sports radio studios. And as I said, Robs, you,
I'm enjoying this preseason game between Trevor Lawrence and Jameis
Winston and Taysom Hill. I'll put it that way, all right.
(22:45):
But anyway, Cam Newton, we gotta I mean we're talking,
you know what, we just talked about three quarterback battles
right New Orleans, Jacksonville, which you know may not really
be a battle, and Sam Francisco. We didn't mention Chicago
where he got justin fields, the rookie going against Andy
(23:06):
Dalton and New England. I think that's a legitimate battle.
And I think it just got a little bit more
interesting with the news today that Cam Newton is has
to take the next five days off because of COVID protocol.
Strange misunderstanding. It seems like the team, you know, was
(23:26):
it seemed like he did nothing. When I first saw
the headline, I was like, Oh, here we go. Did
Cam do something that you know he shouldn't have done,
he didn't need to do And now he's in COVID
protocol and that could cost him the position or could
get Belichick upset with him. But it seems like he
was in total sync with the team, right, Yeah, he
(23:50):
was just taking the wrong test apparently, right, that's what
it sounds like, reportedly that he was taking the daily
test as instructed. The problem was he wasn't taking the
NFL approved daily test, right, right, and the team sent
him to the place correct, Yes, yeah, so but anyway,
so he has to take the next five days off
and this is a close battle. Now Here's here's what
(24:13):
I've said, because I've talked about this a lot on TV, Robgie,
I'm not like or it's gotta be Cam, all right.
I have said I want to I want a real
quarterback competition, and if Matt Jones takes it, so be it.
And if I'm a Patriots fan and Matt Jones takes
(24:33):
it and he's the starter for Game one, then I'm
feeling good because that means Belichick saw something. Like. The
thing about Belichick is he's not going to do what
the media thinks he should do, what the fans thinks
he should do, what the salaries dictate he should do.
He's going to pick the guy that he thinks gives
(24:55):
them the best chance to win. All right, we saw
him do it. I mean, come on, Drew bleds so
was a pro bowler, Drew Blesso was making tens of
millions of dollars, and Tom Brady was a no name
who wasn't that good at Michigan, right, and he stuck
with him over bled So When Bledsoe came back from
injury and the rest is history. Bernie Coosar he benched
(25:16):
him in Cleveland, which led the whole media in Northeast
Ohio to hate Belichick and ultimately probably cost him his job.
But he went with Vinnie Testa Verdi over Cosar. So,
if Matt Jones starts Game one, and I'm a Pats fan,
I'm saying, okay, he's our guy. He earned it, he
took it, and Belichick, you know saw something in me
(25:39):
in him that said, I think at this point, from
what I see and Matt Jones has been good. He's
like the highest rated quarterback right in the preseason. I
don't want to make too big of a deal a
Pro Football Focus number one rated quarterback, So there's something there.
If you're playing, hey, you might as well play well.
But right now I would go with Cam because, of course,
(26:05):
if Cam struggles early, you can always throw in the rookie,
right And if if Mac starts and he struggles early,
do you go to Cam or do you just stick
with Jones because he's your quarterback of the future, at
least for the near future. You think, and he Mac
has arguably been better, arguably, but he hasn't been demonstrably better.
(26:32):
There are things you can look at with Cam and
say they were two and one, almost three and old.
Last year he gets COVID, at least according to him,
he wasn't the same. He didn't have time to learn
the system, so on and so forth. Now he's got
an offseason, blah blah blah. So I don't mind Cam's starting.
I could see Mac taking over Earl at some point
(26:55):
in the season, maybe even relatively early. But I don't
mind Mac or it Cam being the starter initially. Yeah,
I would agree, And I don't think that this little
hiccup is gonna cost him his job in New England.
I think that from everything we're hearing coming out of
that Boston area is that he's definitely the starter. Like
it's Mac Jones is playing now. They have been splinting
(27:16):
reps in practice. Yeah, but you know, Belichick has said
on the record several times, Josh McDaniel said on the
record several times that Cam Newton is the number one guy.
So if there is a quarterback competition, they're being very
discreet about it. I will say this though, I'm a
little bit miffed at Cam Newton in this regard now
(27:37):
because he had to take daily testing, even though he
never said whether he's vaccinated or not. Because he's taking
daily testing, we can infer that he is not vaccinated.
And I'm just a little bit confused because we saw
last year, like you mentioned, he got COVID, missed a game,
and then was total garbage the next four games when
he got back. You know, I think it was zero touchdowns,
(27:59):
five picks, Like he just was not himself. He looked
like a shell of himself. He didn't not look good
at all. And I think that he had to know
coming into this season this is one of those make
or break years for him that nobody really views him
as a potential backup quarterback. Whether that's fair or unfair,
just the nature of the beast, because of his talent,
because he's an MVP, because of his leadership abilities, that
(28:21):
he's just not fit to be a backup quarterback. He's
too good, he's too too much of a presence in
the locker room that I'm surprised he would not get
the vaccine and put himself in the position where he
could miss time like this, where he could open himself
up to any kind of risk to his starting job.
I'm a little surprised by that. That's a good point.
(28:43):
That's a good point. Look, you know, guys have their reasons.
I'm not a doctor, but guess what, they're not doctors either.
And it seems like I don't want to get on
a soapbox about this vaccination, but it does seem like
it's ravaging non vaccinated people. And I know there are
(29:04):
a few people that have been vaccinated that have really
had trouble with it, right, Yes, but for the most part,
it's really ravaging the non vaccinated, and so you hate
to see that type of thing happen where if indeed
he's not vaccinated, which, like you said, their circumstantial evidence
there to say he's not um But you're right because
(29:27):
this is this is Cam's last shot. If he doesn't
make it here, I don't think he's in the league
next year, Rob you unless he unless somebody feels like
he can be our backup. He's been a bit an
injury replacement at that point. I don't think they bring
him in to be a backup. Yeah, I hear you,
(29:50):
and I felt long that he couldn't be a backup
until he gets to that point. I mean, could he
back up Lamar Jackson? You know where you knew Lamar
was the guy and maybe you know in that situation,
but I hear you, this could be it. Nobody was
beating down his door to get to him before New England.
(30:10):
And if you fail with Belichick, there's gonna be a
feeling that if you couldn't do it with Belichick and
they actually got a decent team, I mean, are they
third in that division? That's a tough division. Now, you know,
Miami's pretty good, obviously Buffalo, but you know the fifth
they got some pieces. They got a lot of guys
(30:31):
back that sat out last year. They went out and
spent all that money. Um, they're expecting to win run.
So that's why you wonder how long of a leash
Belichick will have with cam Rogie. Yeah, that's that's fair.
I didn't want to apologize. I demand we will not
(30:51):
go to break until you get me my love. Hey,
Jameis Winston is having a hell of a preseason game
right now, Wow, Jamis Woodstone. The thing is, they've been
two perfectly placed past it. They've also been two phenomenal
catches by Mark. I give you that. This dude callaway.
(31:11):
He looked like Michael Tims and Michael Thomas. Who right,
that's a one hander. I mean I could have done
that with those gloves, but still he would. Dude was
hanging all over him. Wow, yeah, but perfectly. Jameis Winston
is I know the year's under contract, but what is it?
He's making himself some money tonight, even if it is
this season. Yes, I like it, man. And look here's
(31:34):
the thing, he's still young. What is he twenty six?
The dude was the buying. I get it. A lot
of guys were great in college that failed, right, So
I don't want to, you know, talk that up too much.
But I just think him learning under Breeze, him being humble,
rob Gie. And I'm not predicting a fantastic year. I'm
just saying, you know, he did throw for five thousand
(31:57):
yards and thirty touchdowns. Thirty picks. Yeah, but he gotten
lost over there so far. Two touchdowns. All right, This
is the eye couple, Chris b Rob Ge. Keep it locked.

(33:01):
Let's quickly go to track and Field. Rob Gi Chicari Richardson,
of course, the top American sprinter female who was forced
out of the Olympics because she was had marijuana in
her system before the game started. She came back in
the Prefontaine Classic on Saturday in Eugene, Oregon, but didn't
(33:25):
look like the gold medal candidate that she was heading
into the Olympics. She finished dead last rob g in
a field of nine runners, nine sprinters. In the one
hundred meters she read eleven to one, which it is
fast for. That's blistering for pretty good high school boys.
(33:48):
But it's not. It's not world class women. And she
finished ninth. And and here's what she's said afterwards. I'm
not done, you know what I'm care because I'm here
to stay. I'm not done. I'm the sixth sensest woman
(34:10):
in this game. Whatever. It can't nobody ever take that
from me. I ain't like it, Robbers. I don't know
if I would have said that after finishing that last
That's what I'm saying, Like, can we show a little humility,
you know? Um? And look, if she comes out and
she wins a gold medal in a few years, or
she starts dominating and winning world championships, then it's gonna
(34:33):
be It's gonna look good because you got to back
it up. When you talk that type of ish, you
better back it up otherwise people are not gonna like you.
People didn't like Muhammad Ali at the time cash as
clay black people, all right, not just white people. Black
people didn't like him doing all that talking until he
(34:57):
really backed it up by beating sunny listening, and then
people started liking him because he backed it up. But
when you talk all that stuff and don't back it up,
it's not gonna look good. And I just think I
think it would have been more appropriate. Hey, I'm glad
to be back. First. It was just great to be
back on the track. I missed it. Obviously, I'm rusty.
(35:20):
I'm not in shape, you know, but I'll get there.
I'll be back. Don't count me out. You know, I
still got speed, I still got wheels. You know. You
can go there if you want. But just show a
little bit of humility. And here's the thing. She might
be the best American, and she is, you know, assuming
this eleven one isn't a sign of things to come.
(35:42):
She ain't the best in the world. Those ladies in
Jamaica are serious, yes, I mean they got female you
saying boats up in there it laying times of her
in that very race ran a ten five. That's incredible
to me because I flowed Joe ran ten four. I
I don't know, I just you know, I just think
(36:04):
she has some help. Let's put that away, all right,
But many Pakias doctor right right to run a ten five.
My goodness, Chakari's got the third best time in the
world this year. But at that level, the goal isn't
to be the best American. The goal is to be
(36:25):
the best in the world. So I just think, I
just think a little humility would have been much come
off much better robbing. Yeah, and I thought it was
very telling. I don't know if you saw the actual
clip of her talking on NBC, and if if our
listeners haven't seen any, check it out. But in the
background you see one of the Jamaican sprinters walk past
the camera and smile really big at the camera while
(36:46):
Chakari's going off, and I could just feel in that
that grant It's like, Yeah, this is who you guys
are keeping up for this. This is the girl that's
that's getting all these headlines. This is the one I
have to answer a question about before and after every race,
the one who came in last and is still talking
Like there's a certain thing amongst the athletes, And you know,
confidence is great. You got to be confident to be
(37:08):
even be at that level. But when you're at a
level where everybody's great, humility goes even further than confidence, right,
you know, like Pat Beverley, The reason why he got
ridiculed so much when the Clippers lost in the playoffs
and when he got traded to the last two twice
in a week was not because they lost. It was
not because he got traded. It was because he famously
(37:30):
told Steph Curry the last five years were five years?
Were yours next five or mine? Right? Like, if you
don't fulfill on your promises, when you talk a game
like that, you become a punchline. And I hope that
Shicari Richardson. I know there's a lot of excuses about
her being only twenty one, so to learning experience for her.
Based on what we've seen since then, I haven't seen
(37:51):
any kind of formal apology or saying, hey, I was
a little too excited that there's no humility from that.
So I can't say she really learned anything yet from
this situation. Now, I'm with you because a lot of
people treated her like the victim. And let me say
this for those everybody, you know, anybody that was throwing
out the race card, stop it. Because everybody that replaced
(38:15):
her was black, all right. It wasn't about race. All
the other sprinters were black too for America, Okay, So
it had nothing to do with that. And I look,
there are those There are those that think she was
being arrogant, right. There are those that thinks she felt
like I'm the best brind, I can do whatever I want.
(38:37):
Then there are those that really, you know, feel bad
for her that she was in mourning because of her mom,
her biological mom had died. I'm not choosing the side
because I don't know, right, that would be unfair, right,
But all I'm saying is she everybody else played by
the same rules, and so I don't she wasn't a victim.
(38:59):
I hope she comes back because I was. I was
down when she got suspended because I wanted to see
her run. So I hope she comes back and resumes
her greatness. But I'm just saying, in a situation like this,
Rob G, you should have been a little more humble.
First of all, you're not the best in the world,
so stop talking like you the best. He's not even
the top three, apparently, because right did Jamaicans want swept
(39:22):
the metal stand in the Olympics. You can be confident,
but that sounded like false confidence, false praviado, because you
just got whipped. All right, keep it locked. Two hours left.
