Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Welcome Bad Everyboday, Fox Sports Radio,
Fox Sports Saturday, Aaron Torres And amazingly, he didn't cut
me off usually before I can even get his name out. Surprised,
you're a the I thought I was working with Plank
tonight all I heard. I'm sitting here going who is
this that's on Plank? I was waiting for Hey, hey, hey,

(00:25):
I thought it was supposed to be with Plank tonight.
What are you gonna tell me? The Sakers in and
then Monsey get out of here? What does that mean?
The Sakers always in on Saturday, always night off? What's
wrong with you? I'm always in on Saturday. You quit
on us a year ago, Yet you walk back here
like a dog with your tail between your legs when
Jason Martin's got work to do. And so, first of all,

(00:47):
heart aren't I mean? I feel like I just worked
with you like two weeks ago. I didn't. I didn't
ask you how you are? You beat me to the
punch there, But how are you, buddy? You gotting good?
I'm good. I'm doing well. Everything good out here in Vermont.
Today we had a lot of tourists in town. We
had the big fishing tournament out here that always brings it.
Oh yeah, it's big time, so you know, yeah, I
I should I be able to win a fishing tournament

(01:08):
even if I bought like the snoopy reel and rod
and just dropped it in the water, is it? I mean,
as long as you have like a stick and a
rope and some worms and not good enough to enter
the contest or what. See, this is the problem with you.
You think you could just do anything. I mean, you
think you just show up and just do a radio show. Yeah,
I can get the snoopy reel and rod, drop it
into the water and I'm fishing like everybody else out there.

(01:30):
So how so, so it's good. I mean, how many
people are in town for this? Oh that's all. No, no,
don't make fun of it, dude. There's almost a million
hour and prize money. Then it's like the fishing. Yeah,
now you want to bucket of worms? Now, don't you
come up here? Yeah that's what I thought you were
gonna say. I do not want a bucket of worms.
But it is good to be back with you, Arnie,
and let's open the show. I'm gonna do something. We're

(01:52):
not gonna do four hours of fishing tonight. I was
all prepped on that one. I mean, no, I don't
think so. I mean, this is why the boss has
you on Saturday's Late Night, because he knows you're not
gonna bring the A material. But I was gonna start
was something that I don't normally do. Arnie. I was
gonna give you a little bit of credit. Didn't want that. Well,
here's why. It's because a few days ago, when the

(02:15):
bosses told me that Jason Martin was gonna be out,
he's actually doing Summer Slam in uh in Nashville tonight,
big appearance by Logan Paul. He's Jason is working Summer
Slam for his local Ready station Nashville. I said to
the boss, I said, if Arnie comes in, I have
a stipulation, he's got to listen to at least four
hours of Dan Patrick and Colin Cowhard before he comes

(02:37):
on these air waves, because he's clearly not prepared. And
so I guess you did your homework because they let
you on the air tonight. But obviously that was a
bad joke to lead the show. But whatever he cares,
I leave the jokes to me. Please, First of all, you,
um so, I didn't want to start with Kyler Murray though,
I mean it has been the topic of the week.
It was. It was kind of crazy because I was
on air with Dan Buyer when this story broke on.

(03:01):
I think it was Monday afternoon, not you know, the
the contract had been signed and all that. But Ian
Rap report was the first one to put out the
contract clause which at the time which has since been amended.
Of course, forced Kyler Murray for four hours of independent study,
much like we should be forcing you before you're on air.
But where were you? And what? More importantly, like like,

(03:21):
we know it's off the books now, but what did
you think when you saw this? Of course, this coming
after months of not only contract negotiations but also multiple
reports that maybe Kyler Murray isn't the best leader. DeAndre
Hopkins has talked about, uh communication within the offense kind
of fading late late in last season. So what did
you make of this Kyler Murray news that obviously has

(03:43):
been uh the addendum has been made in the last
couple of days. Not a couple of things on this.
First of all, I didn't think it was that big
of a deal, like everybody else was making it out there, okay. Um,
you know you see stuff on weight clause, like on
Zion and and and different stuff like that. So I
thought that everybody kind of pushed a little bit too
much and and it was over the limit. Now, Um,
you know when Kyler went ahead and had his little

(04:04):
press conference and he said it was an insult and
all that, well, you know, perhaps it wasn't insult, but um,
you know, you gotta look at it from both ways.
Let me ask you this there, and of course, and
I'll make it personal. I'll just I'll bring up you
and your wife because you recently got married a little
over what a year or two years? Now, Um, my
thing is this when when when if your last name
was Musk and you were Elon's son, you better believe

(04:27):
that there'd be a pre nump. Now. I'm not saying
you were going to cheat on your wife or your
wife is gonna cheat on you, but you've got to
be prepared, right, You've got to go ahead and prepare
for the future. That's just part of doing business. So
you get to get a pre nup. Again, I'm not
saying anything's gonna happen. You're gonna go in and God, William,
You're gonna have a marriage for a hundred years. But
that's the part of doing business when your last name

(04:49):
is Musk. This is the biggest contract that Cardinals ever
gave out. Maybe they were just doing the due diligence.
Maybe they just wanted to head and say, you know what,
maybe we kind of want a pre nup for this
just in case something does a work out. We want
to have an outclause or something. Maybe this is our outclause.
Maybe it wasn't a good look. It was probably the
right thing to go ahead and take it out afterwards.
But I didn't really think it was that big of

(05:10):
a deal. I kind of thought of it like like
I'm pretting up to be honest with you. Well, a
couple of things. The first one is is that, um,
you know, to me, first of all, it kind of
reminds me. And we'll talk about Trey Lance later in
the show. But when you look at the Tray Lance
situation in San Francisco, and I'll get back to Kyler
in Kirk Kyler Murray in a minute. Um, when you
have not one, not two, but three, four or five

(05:32):
six different reports that say tray Lance really ain't ready
to be the starting quarterback. Whether he's going to be
or not. It kind of tells you this isn't somebody
leaking something to smear Tray Lance or whatever. And so
to go back to Kylin Murray. That's kind of how
I feel Aboutkyler Murray. We have had reports for years
that he isn't the best leader. He's an incredible talent,
by the way, incredible talent obviously got the Cardinals to

(05:53):
the playoffs. At one point they were the best team
in the NFL, had the best record in the NFL
early in last season. It's not saying he's not talented,
but four years we've heard all sorts of reports, not
from one, not from two, not from five, not from ten.
You know, however, many reporters saying this guy is a
great talent. The leadership isn't always there, The accountability isn't
always their first one in the facility, last one in

(06:14):
the facilities. So I just I don't think it's unfair
to put that into your contract when these are the reports,
when these people know Kyler Murray better than anybody else.
And I'll say this, I was driving around yesterday listening
to Doug Gottlieb filling in for uh filling in for
Colin Cowherd, And Doug brought up an interesting point. If
it's such a terrible, awful, you know, unspeakable clause, why

(06:37):
did Kyler, Murray and his agents agree with it? Is
that the most basic question we should be asking. If
it's that bad, it means that even Kyler and his
own people feel like there's some level of accountability that
needed to be there. So I don't understand why if
Kyler didn't think it was a big deal until of
course he was asked about it, and of course his
agents didn't think it was a big deal, why we
should think it's a big deal? Learned And and and I

(06:57):
have to assume that they didn't even ask for it
to be taken out the first time around. They just said, fine,
we'll put it in there. And then when the backlash happened,
is it Oh no, no, no, we good Now we
can't have this, And both sides are scrambling until the
Cardinals come out and say no, no, no, we'll we'll
go ahead and take that out. Um, you don't put
that in tom Brady's contract, because we know Tom Brady
is the first person in the facility in the last
one to go ahead and leave practice. Um, this is

(07:20):
not a race thing and stuffing like that. Uh, they
probably know, like you said, what goes on and how
his business has been run the last couple of years.
They want to make sure that he's studying film Again.
I didn't think it was that big of a deal.
But it is a little bit of an insult to
Kyler Murray that you have to put that in there.
You know that. But if it's way, do you agree

(07:40):
to it? Why did he agree to it? I mean
if if they because he didn't think it was gonna
be this bat of a backlash. Let's be honest. You
know that, and I know that air and that he
probably didn't think about it. Twice. He's getting over two
hundred million dollars. Sometimes you have to give up a
little bit. Are so for two if I told you, Aaron,
I'm gonna give you toward you fifty billion dollars um.
But every during the week you got to wear a

(08:01):
blue shirt. Guess what your word? A blue shirt. But
then when it came out that it was in my
contract that I had to wear a blue shirt if
I agreed to that. I wouldn't complain about it though,
aren't you. No, you still make complain. You go, I
don't know why I gotta wear it? But what the
hell do what toar your door? Whatever it was, you're
gonna do it. And you know you can't ask for everything. Uh,
it's only when it became a big thing. If the
media didn't make a big thing about this, we wouldn't

(08:22):
have the contract would stand and we'd move on. By
the way, it's kind of interesting that when you sign
a contract like this, it's made public to Michael what well,
what you're just about to say? I was that was
going to be my next question. How did this get
to ian Wrap report? That is? Is so? And it
is it's made public to all the other all the
other agents can look at it, and then they in

(08:43):
turn leak at the somebody in the media. And that's
what And that's what my question was. And I was
thinking about this is who something When when a story
gets out right, um, it's usually because somebody wants it out. So,
you know, Kyrie Irving is you know whatever. He's happy
to return to Glint with her without Katie. Kyrie, he
wants hit Kyrie's Camp wants it out there that we're

(09:04):
not the reason Katie's leaving. Blah blah blah. We're happy
to stay here finish out the contract. Who benefited from
Kyler Murray from having that get out? It wasn't Kyler Murray, obviously,
it wasn't his agents. It wasn't the Arizona Cardinals, because
again it makes them look bad and it makes Kyler
look bad. How do you think it got out? But
I can tell you this too. I will say really
quick and I'll toss it back to you. It was

(09:25):
interesting being on air when the Ian Rap Report report
came out, because he put it out and then he
immediately added another tweet of oh, he was already doing
independent study without this clause, but this is just to
get everybody on the same page. And what that said
to me, Arnie was that probably Kyler or Kyler's agent
got to him and said, why the heck did you
put that out there? But that's my question at the

(09:45):
end of the day, who put this out there? Because
it didn't benefit anyone to have it out there. Sometimes
it doesn't have to benefit somebody, you know, it's like
gleaking the news about what was it Tunzel, the one
Miami took in the draft that they was doing gas
mask bonds or something like that before the draft. Sometimes
you do something or you leak something, UM, maybe because
you want to get back at somebody, maybe because you

(10:08):
want to show what a good agent you are, or
maybe you thought you were gonna get Kyler Murray as
your client and it didn't work out that way. I
don't know. There could be a different reason. It doesn't
have to benefit somebody. It could make somebody look bad though,
and maybe that's the case here. That's what I'm thinking.
So you think, so, so so, who did you think I
missed that? I'm sorry, well, I think it maybe another

(10:28):
agent who um would have had Kyler as a client.
Maybe he put that out because it didn't work out
that way and he went to join somebody else, Or
maybe he wanted to look good in front of his
own clients and say I would never make you sign
something like that. That's why you're you know you you
came to my agency, not that agency, and and stuff

(10:49):
like that. I don't know, um the real reason why,
but it certainly was leaked that everybody made a big
deal about it. I guess, so I just I think
it's fascinating that got out. I've never heard of agents
having access to other people's contracts that aren't their clients. Uh,
And that was kind of what I thought was kind
of interesting, was because you know, me having such a
background in college sports, I mean, most college coaches are

(11:10):
um are state employees, so you can get access to
those contracts pretty quick. But obviously NFL teams being independently owned,
private companies all that stuff, I've never heard that agents
get access to other people's clients contracts. Maybe that's the case,
and maybe that would make the most sense, but it
does make sense think about that, you especially in the
NFL when it's slotted for draft picks and um, you've

(11:31):
got to make sure where you're in there and where
you're slotted in the guy in front of you and
the guy behind you, and um, you know, stuff like that.
It would make sense, though, I just think it's very strange.
I think it's very strange. And uh, I just can't
believe it got out there really quickly. Um, you know,
now that it is out there, now that it has
been removed, what do you think it says about Colin Murray?
To me, it just kind of confirms who he thought

(11:53):
he was incredibly talented player. Uh, this isn't to discredit him.
It's I'd say he's terrible. It's not to say he's
the worst quarterback in the league. But that again, as
we've heard again from multiple reporters, multiple people who cover
the team, multiple people who are around him every day.
Maybe not the greatest leader, maybe not the hardest worker.
I don't think this really changes anything from my perspective
on Kyler Murray. I'm just again blown away that this

(12:15):
got out. This changes absolutely nothing. I when I look
and evaluate somebody, I see what they do on the
football field. What do they do in the sixty minutes. Um,
I'm not gonna say, yeah, I'm gonna downgrade this guy
because he didn't watch as much tape for an extra
half hour, or he didn't show up at the facility
at four thirty in the morning, Um, you know, and
he showed up at five o'clock in the morning or something.

(12:38):
Or this guy didn't have a good practice or I
you know, I saw a tweet today where somebody said
we were making a big deal about Marcus Mariotto like
three or four or five years ago not throwing an
interception so far in the preseason or something like that. Um,
you know we make too much of that. I want
to know what you did in the sixty minutes. You
know all this stuff in the draft. I'll just give
you an example. We look at the four to you,

(12:58):
how you get jump, how fast you could run? Um,
you know, how much you can lift? What about what
you do on the football field? You know what what
are you doing in the sixty minutes? How many tackles
you make? How many catches do you have? How many
touchdowns do you throw? How do you block? Okay, so
you know you gotta look at what the guy does
on the field. Forget about It's as Alan Iverson said,
we're talking about practice. You know, we're talking about practice.

(13:21):
So UM, you know, don't don't put too much into that.
I agree, And again, this conversation we can have throughout
the night absolutely fascinating. UM. I thought it was kind
of soft by the Cardinals to take it out. Um,
if if this was something that you deemed to be
important for his development, and Kyler Murray agreed to it,
I don't think you have to apologize. Here's here, I mean,
right off the bat on on Twitter, Bill's Mafia says

(13:43):
Kyler Murray needs to stop being a baby and just
do his job. The guy does a fit like every
other week. Is that fair though? I mean, he does seem,
you know, a little bit sensitive, does it not? Or
am I not allowed to say that? So I'll say
this really quick because we got JP MORROSSI coming up
in the next segment. But um, so we live in
a weird time where you have to kind of be

(14:04):
careful what you say about everybody. I do think Kylin
Murray is just kind of an odd dude, though, right,
I mean, is that wrong to like the Dan Patrick
interview the multiple I always yes, no, I do, and
I'm sorry if I if it's a point I've made
a million times, but uh, you know Dan Patrick interview.
Uh just just the you know, the fact that some

(14:25):
of his teammates have said things about him, the fact
that the people who are around him every day, who
love him, who admit that he's the best quarterback that
has really I don't see the best quarterback to cards
I've ever had, but he's the best one that's been
drafted and developed in Arizona. Even they say he's a
little bit different he's a little bit this, he's a
little bit that. So I don't know. I just think
he's an odd guy. And that doesn't make him a
bad guy. It doesn't make him a bad quarterback. But

(14:47):
I do think that's part of it. You know, there's
a lot of guys you can say that about, not
only in football and not any sports outside of sports.
That guy, look at you. I think you're an odd guy.
People think I'm a little odd. So I don't what
is there for grying out loud you are an odd man,
but but we still love you anyway. Fox Sports Radio.

Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Saturday, Aaron Torres, Jason, Jason
Martin out, Arnie Spanier is in. We're not gonna waste
any time because MLB trade deadline is fast approaching, and
there is no one better to bring on to discuss

(15:51):
it all than Fox Sports Radio MLB insider Costal see
him on the MLB Network rights for NBC Sports JP,
Morossy JP. What's going man, Erin and Artie? I am outstanding,
my friends. What an amazing time of year in baseball
and we've got just a few days ahead of the
trade deadline on Tuesday, Tuesday evening actually Eastern time. And

(16:14):
just tonight I had one long time executive tell me
he thinks that we are headed for what could be
one of the wildest trade deadlines in decades. Buckle up,
my friends, as some fun days ahead. It's gonna be wild.
Did that mean shoheyo, Toddy's going to be traded? Then?

(16:35):
Do you think? Or what? Well, here's what I think.
Soto is increasingly likely to be traded. I think Juan
Soto will have a new team by Wednesday. Um which
team that will be? I think time will tell. The
Padres I'm told are discussing a few of their top
players in that deal. The Cardinals are involved as well.

(16:56):
Who could ever be surprised if the Dodgers find a
way to step in and make this happen. They traded
for Mookie Betts, for Max Scherzer, for for Trade Turner,
they signed Freddie Freeman at this point in time, who
could be surprised if the Dodgers made a huge splash
and brought in Juan Soto. Now I'm told that at

(17:17):
the moment, the Dodgers would have a preference for Otani
because of just the uniqueness of the player, what he brings.
He would address two needs from them at once. And
the big question now looms what are the Angels thinking
and what do they want to do? I was told
in the last twenty four hours that ownership there is

(17:38):
still not at all warming up to the idea yet
of the Angels moving him, moving Showy Otani. But I think, guys,
I would say it's the two step process. It's either
a are they comfortable moving Otani at all? And be
would they do it to the Dodgers? And I think
those are two related but separate questions. And think the

(18:00):
coming three days will be defined by how the Angels
answer those questions. So JP, here's where I don't want
to say I'm confused. But what's weird to me is
this is that I get that the Angels have struggled
through the years. Mike Trout now has this back condition
that seems to be a little bit concerning, And but
my question is still at the end of the day, Um,
you have a you know, scouting department and player personnel,

(18:23):
and you spend all this time evaluating and developing and whatever,
and you get show, hey, hotany he comes to the States,
he can pick anywhere he chooses you. You obviously have
him on a team friendly contract. I don't care if
he's about to break the bank obviously if not this
offseason and the the following one. You know, I just when
I see this situation reminds me of the Herm Edwards.

(18:44):
You play to win the game. When you're the Angels,
you wait a lifetime for a chance to have a
guy like this in your organization, and just because he
might not be on the exact time frame that the
team is you want to get I just I don't
really understand the logic behind getting rid of him. Maybe
I'm just completely missing this. Please explain it to me,
even if the timeline doesn't make sense. He's such a

(19:04):
unique talent, it just seems crazy to me that even
on a team friendly contract right now, they would want
to move off of him. Aeron, I agree. I totally
agree with your thought process on that um and and
so that there's two sides. As number one is, I'm
sort of conveying what I have, what I've heard in
the industry. At number two, I look at it as
a fan would and and from the state of the

(19:27):
game standpoint, show Otani is a singular player in the
history of Major League Baseball, singular there there's never been
a player like him. He is he is, he has
out roofed Babe Ruth. He's doing things that the Bambido
himself was not able to do. So on that level,

(19:48):
I totally agree with you that when you have someone
and I think this is probably a part of their calculus,
when you have someone who is this unique and is
this huge a part of your marketing advertising, look at
all the global companies that invest and and are part
of the Angels overall business plan, and then all of

(20:10):
a sudden, if you take away one of your main
gate attractions, and Trout is battling this back issue and
Rendon is hurt. What products are you selling? And I
think that at this point in time, more than ever before,
I think teams have a certain obligation to respect that
covenant with their fans. Whether it's because the lockout, whether

(20:34):
it's because of this being the first year where we've
had full attendance everywhere in Major League Baseball since twenty nineteen,
This is a This is a big deal, and I
think that we have to remember why we have all
fallen in love with sports. And this is not just
optimizing for the value of a relief pitcher as he's
nearing the end of his of his contract and you

(20:56):
trade him that. This is something totally different. He is
an icon on in the sport. And even if it
was a scenario where let's let's think about the Edmonton
Oilers and Wayne Gretzky, of course they made that trade.
That's as as unpopular as that was. But it's hard
to make that trade in season, when you're playing games.

(21:19):
You trade away an icon in the sport without ever
really fully realizing the potential that you have collectively with
him and your organization because they've always been falling just short,
of course not I've made the playoffs since. There are
times when I think selling is appropriate, and I think
Juan Soda was a great example of that. They won

(21:41):
a World Series three years ago. They had offered him
half a billion dollars and he said no. At that point,
I'm understanding of that. Otani though, Aaron, to your point,
is a category unto himself, and those kinds of players
I think are just really hard to trade at any time.
JP Who's not hard to trade it for staying with

(22:02):
the Angels. Noah syndergarlready had the one year twenty one
million where um down to what a third of the
season left. You're getting the pennies on the dollar. The
Yankees want him, Yankees were interested last year, they just
didn't get him the money for it. I gotta think
that he's on the way out. He is. I'm a
little surprised though, just his overall, his velocity has been

(22:23):
down a bit. You know, he's not This is not
the Thour, the vintage Thour of seven years ago. That
was a long time ago. When he was there in
the playoffs with the New York Mets and you know,
certainly he understands the New York market. I think he
would be able to embrace that. And if you're being
realistic about where he's ating the rotation, if he's your
fourth or fifth starter, then I think we understand that

(22:46):
a little more easily. But it's for me, he's not
the kind of guy that you're going to really base
your rotation around right now, and as long as you're
realistic about where he's going to slot in your rotation,
I think the Yankees, because of where he would be,
probably make a lot of sense. I would expect the
team like the Cardinals, might also be involved that. I

(23:08):
think they want them back end pitching. But I mentioned
to hear a couple of teams. I don't think the
Yankees are really serious about Soto, but the Cardinals are.
And so if you've got the Cardinals, Padres, Dodgers to
an extent all basing their plans for the trade deadline
on Soto, I do think this is why we're gonna

(23:30):
hear a whole lot of activity right at the finish line,
because I think a lot of the a lot of
the brinksmanship that's going on right now, I think pertains
to Soto and who's going to meet that price and win?
And then I think there's a lot of dominoes to
fall after that in cinder Guard could be one of them.
So j P last question, we'll let you out of here. Um,
but kind of a dumb question on Soto. I mean,

(23:51):
obviously he turns down the massive extension with Washington. Are
we to assume that any team that does acquire him
that maybe he's had pre conversations about I just get
the Cardinals, Padres whoever. I can't imagine you're gonna trade
for Juan Soto unless you're pretty sure that you kind
of at least have a sort of verbal agreement that
he would stay with you long term, and obviously you're
gonna have to pony up. But I assume that nobody's

(24:13):
trading for him not knowing that he's comfortable being there
in the future. You know, Aaron, It's an interesting question.
I actually think that it's quite the opposite that. First
of all, in baseball, for whatever reason, we just don't see,
at least the official sense, at least I should I
should clarify officially, we don't see the sort of the

(24:34):
sign and trade window where there's actually the formal negotiation
that's put forward and and agreed upon concurrent with the
trade that almost never happens. Uh, you know on Santana
years ago was one of the most most recent examples,
and that was like fifteen years ago. So it just
it's a really uncommon in this sport, even though the
cb A allows it. I'll make that point. I think

(24:56):
that a couple of things. Teams know what it would
take to sign him, because he's already turned down four
or forty. I mean, at least you know, it's basically
it's and it's not gonna be four forty one. It's
probably not gonna be either. I mean it's gonna have
to probably start with the five. I think everybody in
the industry sort of knows where his price is right

(25:17):
now to buy out his years of of of free agency.
But I think this Aaron, and maybe this is a
bit of a counterintuitive take, but this is how I
feel about it. When he said no to four or forty,
I think that took everybody off the hook because from
a standpoint of if you're the Cardinals of the Padres
of the Dodgers, whatever it is, it almost removes the

(25:39):
complexity of the extension, because if if the guy has
turned down down near half a billion dollars, I mean,
how could any fan base say, well, you gotta you
gotta sign him right away. I just it's just not realistic.
I don't think unless unless the number starts with five.
So I think this is all about the next two
and a half years, and that's why there's a certain

(26:00):
genius in the virtue in trading him now. Two and
a half years of the players a long time, and
that is a long time. And so I think you
just look at this value proposition for the next two
and a half years, and if you want to give
him half a billion dollars at some point, go for it.
But don't worry about that right now. Just focus on
the value for this particular trade for two and a

(26:22):
half years, and that is plenty long enough for one
of the great talents we have ever seen in Major
League Baseball. He's JP MORROSSI Fox Sports Radio MLB Insider. Also,
by the way, made an appearance on the Swingshift podcast
this week with our producer Bo and Ryan Burr. Shinger
did a great job by Bo and Ryan, outstanding work.
Really enjoyed the conversation and this time of year. You know,

Fox Sports Saturday Aaron Torres, Arnie Spanier in for Jason Martin.

(27:28):
Jason will be back next week. He is working at
Summer Slam in Tennessee in Nashville. Are you are you
a pro wrestling guy? Ernie step into a slim gym
or something like that. That's that's all I know about
FO years ago. I don't even know who that was.
Logan Paul was apparently guy anymore. Who was that, Randy
Macho Man, Macho Man Savage. I think, right, I don't know.

(27:48):
I don't ask me question. All right, well we'll leave them.
We'll leave that to uh Jason Martin when he comes
back next week. It was Macho Man Savage who did
unfortunately pass away here in is not your big thing?
Did you get into wrestling? Where you never it's It's
something I've never been into ever. I was funny. I
had a good friend who got married this week, and
I was a groomsman. And one of the other groomsman

(28:11):
works actually for uh sports television station. We were talking
about wrestling. We're actually come up in man. But I
was like, that was the one sport man. I just
I mean, it's not sport. It's an entertainment product. Vince mcmanhon,
although he's certainly got his problems, um you know, is
a great businessman and a great brand builder. But I
just I can't get into something that's not real. I

(28:32):
just can't, you know. So it's like a movie. We
see they were playing up here a lot too. Uh
the McMahon's playing they have a place up here. I
think he's gonna be spending a lot more time there.
I think he is too. I think he is real quick.
Let's uh, let's talk um, let's talk what what JP Morossy.
People miss the JP Morossi Fox Sports Radio MLB Insider
joined us last segment, and we're talking about a couple

(28:54):
of things related to the MLB trade deadline on Tuesday. Arnie,
I'll just be honest, and I said, it's a JP.
I get the concept of Otani show. Hey Otani reigning
a l m v P obviously an elite picture, an
elite hitter being available because of the concept that he's
on a team friendly deal, he's up for arbitration this year,
he can be a free agent next year, and the

(29:15):
Angels are terrible. I get that. I also think that
as when JP Morossy said, you have the modern day
Babe Ruth, you don't just give him up because because
they're not. Because look at how Craig baseball is a wild,
weird sport. Look at how the Mets, Your Mets have
flipped from one year to the other. Look at how
any given year teams go from worst to first, or

(29:36):
from irrelevant to contender. I just can't imagine the idea
of giving up the modern day baby bruth. That's not hyperbole.
As JP Morrossy said, he's out babe Bruth, think babe
Bruth when he was in his era and his time.
I just don't get it, Arn'tie. I really don't. Yeah,
I'm not too quick to go ahead and want to
trade to him. I'm gonna have to hold on to
him because, like you said, he's somebody's special. Um though, really,

(30:00):
if you look at it as a as a translated
to the box office, has it translated to jerseys? Are
there more Showeo Tani jerseys that we've ever seen in
our lives? I don't know. I mean, how much can
you get in return? How many prospects can you get
in return? I'm not crazy about prospects, but maybe you
can go ahead and rebuild that godforsaken team that doesn't

(30:21):
seem to be doing anything out there. So I mean, yeah,
there's there's two sides this one. I'm not so sure
i'd get rid of him, but um, you know, I mean,
my goodness, you could probably get a handsome sum for him.
You know, I agree a percent, and so to me,
I just I just don't get with the point of
like I said, you have a player personnel department, you
have evaluators, you have scouts. They won the silent auction

(30:44):
to get show. Heyo Tani. It's where he wanted to be,
and I understand that things have changed. I understain stand
why he chose the Angels. May maybe he would have
made a different decision now. I just don't get the
idea of you have a once in a lifetime talent
at twenty eight years old. But that's the how of
thing too. It's not like he's thirty three and very
much on the tail end of his prime. He's twenty

(31:04):
eight years old. You think he'd have another four or
five six years of his prime with the way that
modern you know, modern athletes are able to to do things.
And oh, by the way, even if it doesn't work out,
say as a picture, it's not as though he doesn't
have value as an m v P caliber hitter as well.
So it just doesn't make sense to me. I don't
get it. Uh the Wan soda stuff, I I get it.
One thing I would have liked to ask JP Morossi,
but we ran out of time. Were you were you

(31:26):
and I on air when he turned down the fifteen
year contract. I think you were, Um, I don't get
if you're a player at twenty three years old, why
you're committing for fifteen years when when salaries are going
up so fast, when the sport changes so fast. I
really like the model that Carlos Corea pulled out last offseason.
Three year contract opt out. Then he's gonna make about

(31:48):
a hundred million dollars now over the next three years,
and then he can be a free agent again a
couple of years from now and see what the market
looks like at that time. I just don't get it.
Aren't he I really first, I don't see him getting
train did so, so I don't see it's possible, because,
like you said, I would think that you'd want some
type of problems that he's going to stay with you
long term, whether it's fifteen years or ten years or

(32:08):
whatever it is. You want to get some type of promise,
and and you're telling me that the first number is
gonna have to be a five five hundred million dollars
a half a billion dollars, and I'm I'm supposed to
work this out. I went Tuesday at three o'clock. It
can't be done. You can't just say okay, I'm gonna
give you a five hundred mill We're gonna give you
a half a bill, and we're good for Tuesday. There's

(32:30):
just too much. It's too much to work out. And
by the way, I'm not giving anybody, um a half
a billion dollars. I'm sorry. I don't care how young
you are and how much promise you have. I'm gonna
have to take a hard pass on that. Move on,
I'm not gonna give you that type of money, UM
for one person. I don't care if he has twenty
three years old there. Well, and it's so funny, right
because stuff on both ends, and I'm talking about it

(32:50):
from the player perspective of it doesn't make sense, but
it changes from the team perspective to think about what
don't we just talking about JP Morrocy. Mike Trout has
some weird back thing, and obviously I hope he's okay,
but but he might not be the same. He's he
signed a thirteen year contract in March of nine. That
was three years ago, so we are now three years
into that contract and we don't know what his future

(33:13):
will be now. I'm sure if if he can't play
or he has to retire, early, and God forbid he does,
and hopefully he doesn't. Um. You know, there's there's insurance
and things will be covered and whatever. But it's like,
just think about how quickly things changed. I don't understand
from a player's perspective, why you want to commit that long.
I don't understand really quickly, Arnie, why a team would
want to commit that long. Either, well, you want to
commit that long. Was what happens if you don't have

(33:35):
a great year after the second or third year and
then it's time to renegotiate, Then all of a sudden,
you're not in the driver's seat. You're not gonna get
the money that you're gonna get UM back a long
time ago. So you can see that happening. Not everybody's
gonna go ahead and continue to put up a good
numbers like that. I get it, Arnie, I get it,
but it's just I don't get it. At the same time,
it's his Fox Sports Radio aeron Torres, Arnie Spanier in

(33:57):
for Jason Martin. Jason will be back next today he's
covering Summer Slam down there in Nashville. So we hope
Jason's having a great time, and Arnie is writing a
co pilot with us. He's in the passenger seat where
he belongs as I drive this ship. Uh, coming up,
we go back to the NFL. We talked a little
Kyler Murray earlier. Now we talk trade Lance. What's up
with that guy? We'll discuss next. Fox Sports Radio. Fox

That voice you here, unfortunately beside me is not Jason Martin.
He'll be back next Saturday. Be Jason Martin on his deathbed. Yeah,

(34:42):
it could be Jason Martin after smoking cigarettes NonStop for
you know, fifty years. My wife is mad at me.
By the way, Why I sent the alarm for her
to get up at four thirty in the morning. I
think that's very nice of me to be honest. I
sent her alarm at four thirties so she can get
up and go to work. For crying out loud, she's
gotta work very hard, you said her. You set her

(35:02):
alarm for four thirty. What does she have to what
does she have to do no. Besides that, she's they
had this contest at work, and if you reach a
certain point for President's Club, they take you on a
fancy trip. This year's trip is to a Ruba. Yes
it's a Riz Carlton. So if she hits a certain marks,

(35:23):
she's got one more month to do it. I get
to go to the Riz Carlton for free for an
entire week. How about that, big boy it is. I
gotta say something. It is pretty cool that Clay Travis
named his business after you. I'll kick the coverage because you.
I'll kick your coverage, my friend. I mean, how did
you end up with this smart, intelligent She's clearly pretty
strong because she shovels the entire driveway every winter. So

(35:46):
but she's but she's three years per I've let her
usually go on these trips with her sister. But when
I heard it was going to be a Ruba, I'm like, no, no, no, no,
I'm gonna have to go on this one. So I
go get up and start working hard. She's got one
more month ago. We're right there, are right there on
the brink of making it or not making it. So
I'll keep you abreast of the situation this month. So basically,

(36:07):
you're you're forcing her out the door. You're you're they
get up at four o'clock three in the morning. I
don't care what you got to do. Get up and
start working. Well, I go back to bed. You're Mickey,
she's Rocky. You're just driving the car behind her. I'm
not getting up. I'm not getting you gotta get up herself.
I'm not getting By the way, we did a last segment,
get get some commentary from Paul Bill's Mafia, who we

(36:28):
were talking about the show. Hey o Tani situation potentially
being on the trade block. Paul Bill's Mafia says, what
is this nineteen fifty five? Are you punishing the audience
for some reason no one cares about baseball? Wow? Let
me ask you. Were you guys talking trade deadline in
nineteen fifty five? Like, was that a big topic this
time of year? That was a big topic back in
nineteen fifty five with the tablets and everything like that.

(36:49):
You know what, though, in a way, he's right. Um,
here you have a Soto, one of the brightest young
stars of Major League baseball. Um, either nobody cares or
nobody knows who he is. Or um, and he can
make a big difference on just about any team out there. Um.
But yet it's not that big of a thing they're
talking about Showyotan A. Sure you'll love to have him,
But if the Yankees got him, with the Mets got him,

(37:11):
or or you know, just pick any team in contention,
it doesn't guarantee there's good to be a World Series
victory or even go to the World Series. So um,
you know, yeah, baseball is missing something. And they've tried everything,
um from seven inning double headers to you know, you know,
putting a man on second and nextra innings. They're trying hard.

(37:31):
They're just trying to figure it out. They got to
get the young audience back to baseball. That's what they've
got to do. Well. I remember one of the last
shows that we did obviously last year before you quit
on me and disacre and uh but I remember saying
this last summer. It was before it became kind of
a national talking point. But uh, there there was a
point obviously at some point pretty early in the season,
when he was the best pitcher in baseball and one

(37:52):
of the best pitchers in baseball and leading the league
in home runs and I said, this is how you
know how far baseball's fallen is this guy should be
the biggest star in sports. And yet in July and August,
and I know last year there was a weird calendar.
The NBA went a little bit later, all that stuff,
but uh, you know, in July and August, we're talking
Lebron this or you know, uh Lakers that Westbrook trade,

(38:15):
whatever we were talking at the time, and I'm like,
this should be the biggest story of baseball, and nobody cares.
So uh, you know, I understand what Paul has built.
Paul Bill's mafia is saying. And I do want to
switch back to football, Arnie, but I think that tells
you how far baseball has fallen. Where you have a transcendent,
once in a lifetime, once in a century player in
Shohyotani and it's just not a nationally relevant thing unless

(38:39):
he happens to be on the trade deadline, on the
trade block or starting. It does matter where you play,
I mean, even in the second biggest market in America,
but it's still an insignificant team. You know, even in
the NBA when you have somebody like Zion, you know,
with the Pelicans, or Dame Willard up in Portland's or
you know when you get Barry places like that. If

(39:01):
you're in Sacramento, no matter how good you are, you're
still gonna go ahead and you know, be a second thought.
You're gonna be a you know, a second person that
you're thinking about because nobody pays it to Utah. Look
at Donovan Mitchell should be a bigger star. If Donovan
Mitchell has put up those numbers um in New York
or Los Angeles, we'd be talking to him like a superstar.
Yet people say he's not even a number one because

(39:23):
he's coming from from Utah. For crying out loud, it
does make a difference from where you're coming. And you're right, yes,
the Angels are the second biggest market, but let's be honest,
it's not even close to that when it comes to
the Angels. Well, I do you know, I don't know
that it would matter all. I mean maybe if he
was playing for the Yankees of the Mets. But uh,
let's switch gears because it was funny. I led the
show with with uh Kyler Murray and I said, with

(39:46):
Kyler Murray's I said, look, we're not saying he's a
bad person. Whatever. We we get it. But when you
have three or four, five, six reports all saying good kid,
but probably a little bit aloof not a great leader.
DeAndre Hopp has talked about the lack of communication in
the offensive huddle late last season, like you don't have
four or five six people all saying the same thing

(40:07):
if it's not true. And I bring it back because
it reminded me of another story this week where we're
again Dan Buyer and I were filling in one day
for Doug Gottlieb, but we started talking about this is
when you have almost universally everybody that covers the NFL
and everybody that covers the San Francisco forty Niners saying
that they hear that whether he whether he's getting the

(40:28):
starting job or not, Trey Lance is simply not ready
to be an NFL starter. I do not take this
as a good sign. It's not one person. It's not
a Seahawks reporter or a RAMS reporter that that wants
the forty Niners to be bad. Uh, this is pretty
much it seems. Let me let me even flip its. You, Artie,
have you heard anybody with gushing praise for Trey Lance,

(40:49):
because I just think when you have this many people
saying the same thing about Trey Lance, I'm starting to
get worried week ones coming. This guy does not appear
to be ready. I just find this to be a
fascinating story. Well that must that must mean he's worse
than we than we thought, because, um, if they're saying
you're not ready based on practice, if there's a problem
in practice, um my goodness, then what's what's gonna happen

(41:12):
when you're you know, when you get into an NFL game.
I don't know, maybe he's exaggerated a little bit. It
could be some of that aeron because I mean, can
you go through some practice and say, no, no, no, no,
this guy's I mean, I feel like they're talking about
Jordan's love over at Green Bay or something like that.
He's not ready, he's not ready. Well when are they
gonna be ready? You gotta get him in there and
see what you have, and especially you want to see

(41:33):
what you have when you have Jimmy Garoppolo is your
backup just in case something goes wrong. So, um, if
you really think he's the quarterback of the future, get
him out there. No, I haven't heard any glowing reviews,
but again it is practice. Let's see what he what
he's gonna do in the field. He did that have
that one UM throw. Remember last year when he ran
in UM got the touch on pass. But that was

(41:53):
about it. That that's about it. That's the only thing
we really saw out of him. So let me ask you, UM,
the whole city suations fascinating and and there can be
a difference between what will happen and what should happen.
And what will happen is is Trey Lance is getting
the job and he's going to be the starter. UH
and Jimmy g and will discuss later because you found
some pretty good odds on where he could end up
to start this season. But what I want to ask

(42:15):
you is should this be happening? Because I understand the
concept of you take a guy specifically in the top
five UM at a certain point, you gotta give him
a chance to to earn the job. But I also
go back to to what I said to JP Morossi
with with uh last hour with sho Hey Otani, is
you play to win the game like that? Herm Edward said,
you play to win the game, and Jimmy g for

(42:36):
all the fault and all the criticism, and he's not perfect.
He gets hurt too much. But when he has been
healthy in two seasons Super Bowl and then last year
the NFC Championship Game, when he got healthy late in
the season, I get why the forty Niners made the
move that they made, Arnie, but I also don't like,
is it the whole point to put yourself in position
to win? And you have a roster that is clearly

(42:58):
good enough to go to the Super Bowl, you have
a quarterback that is clearly good enough to get you there.
You you have a quarterback that probably isn't good enough
to get you there, And if everything goes right and
he hits this ceiling, maybe in two or three years
he can get you back to where you already are
right now. I just again, I get the concept, Arnie,
but it's like, isn't sports supposed to be about the

(43:20):
best player earns the spot and the best player get
It's just I get why it's going on, but it
is kind of wild when you think about it. It's
most basic level. Well, maybe they have a little bit
of a Belichick syndrome there where they think it's the system.
Maybe they'll say it doesn't make an effence. Really who
plays quarterback. As long as they played quarterback in our system,
we're gonna be okay that. Maybe Jimmy Garoppol was not

(43:41):
all that good. But once he came to us here
in San Francisco, mind you, for his second round pick
was not a first round pick. Look what he's turned into.
I mean, if you were trading a guy that went
to uh, you know, with with those type of stats
now and he wasn't uh uh you know, banged up,
he'd go for at least one first round pick because
he's a core are back. So you know, maybe they'll say, hey,

(44:02):
it's the system, and it doesn't make a difference who
the help plays quarterback. He's going to be just fine.
Maybe Belichick thinks the same way, Right, it's not Tom Brady,
it's me. It's my system. I'll show you with a
rookie quarterback, so you know, um, we'll see how it
works out for him. But it could be the system.
I mean, it's not that far fetched. And he has
a lot of weapons around them. I get it. I

(44:23):
I just think that the point of and we understand
that's not always how it works, right. We understand that
that there are contracts and that there are situations. And
you know, it's funny when when we were filling in
the other day, we had KG right on who actually
announce his retirement the day after we were on with him.
But but he said, is that there's there were so
many times in his career where the undrafted guy was
better than the drafted guy, or the undrafted guy was

(44:45):
better than the veteran um and unfortunately, you know, the
veteran has some sort of guaranteed contract and you can't
just get rid of him. I also do think it's
it's so different with San Francisco Orny because there are
times where you want to go with the young guy,
but usually it's a situation where whatever your your team's
not there right like even going back to Shohyotani, like

(45:06):
you trade Shoeyotani because he is a star and your
team is lousy right now when you want to build
for the future. The forty Niners are built for right now,
aren't he. That's the part that trips me out to
be one thing, if you're coming off the last place
finish or Jimmy g whatever, you just were a play
or two away from potentially getting to the super Bowl
for a second time in three years with this guy

(45:27):
as your quarterback. That's what bugs me out, not that
you go with the younger guy, but that you go
with the younger guy when you have a roster built
for the super Bowl right now, I just I just
can't get over there. I don't know if they're built
for a super Bowl. They were like two plays away
last year. Yeah, yeah, But I mean there's still about
like four or five teams better than the NFC, the
Rams and the Rams and Bucks and then go ahead, Rams, Tampa,

(45:51):
Green Bay, UM, Dallas and Arizona finished with a better
record that San Francisco last also real obviously they went
out in the first round. Who who? Who? Who knocked?
Matter of fact, knocked the Packers out in the playoffs
last year at lambeau Field at home. Right now, I
understand that. But a matter of fact, though, Aaron, all
the teams I listed just now, UM ahead of UM,

(46:12):
I think we're all have better numbers or odds to
win the Super Bowl because are playing some guy that
has never taken a snap as an NFL quarterback before.
That's why, well, I mean that has a little bit
to do with it. That changes the odds a little bit.
You would think that there'd be a little bit more money. Look,
I still think they're a good team. I don't know
if they're you know, i'd put him in the top
three in the NFC to go ahead and go to

(46:33):
the Super Bowl. But yeah, they're right there on the
cusp of it. They certainly got to play the better
quarterback of the two. But they think Jimmy Garoppo is
injury prone. And there's something we're missing about Trey Lance.
We're not at all the practices though. You just don't
hear the rave reviews. There's something they see that we
just don't know. I guess really quick, where is the
line in your opinion on when you just have to

(46:56):
go with the young guy? Right? Because Jordan's Love gets
drafted by the Green A Packers. But two things, One,
Aaron Rodgers is playing in a super Bowl level and
to Jordan Loves a late first round pick. And do
you believe there's a difference between a guy that's say,
a late first round pick like Jordan Love and a
guy it's the top five pick, or do you just
do you believe that that if you're top five, top ten, whatever,

(47:17):
that you have to let that guy get that opportunity,
whether he's ready or not, or do you just believe
that that if you do have somebody that you believe
is better. Uh, the young guys should stay on the bench.
You know. Sooner or later you forget whether the guy
was the first pick, tenth pick, um, or late first
round pick. You forget that too. It wasn't even the
first second quarterback. Take it into his class. Um. You know,

(47:38):
sooner or later that goes all out the window when
all you really do is want to play. A matter
of fact, if I'm Jordan's love, I'm surprised there has
not been waves or rumors and that he wants to
get out of Green Bay. I know I would want
to get the hell out of Green Bay. I think
I've had enough. I'm seeing the riding on the wall.
I would not have lasted this long playing behind Aaron Rodgers.
I would have said, best job in the world. Just

(47:58):
get to sit there and collective paycheck. Yeah, but you
know what you want to play, And I would say,
get me the hell out of here, even if you
have to trade me to Detroit. Um. I'm not gonna
sit here doing nothing, and especially with somebody like Aaron Rodgers.
You know, I just I didn't get drafted for this.
I didn't go in the first round. I didn't work
this hard. So give me the hell out of here.
You know. Eventually, like I said, top ten, first round

(48:21):
doesn't really make a difference. You want to get on
the field and you forget about what a quarterback was
drafted in what exact position. You go with the guy
who's better. Sooner or later. If your team's not doing well,
you go with the young guy to see if you
can give you a little spark out there. We'll see
if Trey Lance has some spark with I'm dying to
see what he's gonna put up there. I'm dying to
see what Trey Lance is going to do as well.
But as I said, to lead a segment um, when

(48:42):
you have this many reports that the guy is not ready,
it is a little bit concerning. This is Fox Sports Radio.
How many practices we have, like one practice or something
like that, Arnie, not even one, Arnie, Arnie, Ernie, Arnie.
We know how this works. Just because the guy isn't
at practice doesn't mean that they're not sucking to people.
And it doesn't mean that whether it's Kyle Shanahan and
assistant coach, a head coach who you think Jay Glazer

(49:05):
the only time he ever reports anything is when he's
at practice in a scene it with his own two eyes. No,
but I mean he's supposed to improve. I mean this
is the year he's gonna have his biggest improvement out there.
So let's not be too harsh on him. Okay, Okay,
it's like Mahomes said, We're see this criticize him and
Dac and Lamar Jackson a little bit different than all
the other quarterbacks. Don't make him be right on that
at that point. Alright, Dardy, this is Fox Sports Radio

(49:29):
Aero Tours already span here here on a Saturday night. Uh,
coming up. I do want to switch gears to Jimmy
Gary because, as I said, uh, you did send some
very interesting odds on where he could end up. He
sent some odds on a couple of different interesting scenarios
in the NFL. We will discuss those next eron tours.

Aaron Torres, Arnie Spaniard on a Saturday night like in
these jams, DJ Alex tie shirt. Appreciate you, my guy. Alright, Arnie,

(50:13):
So earlier in the week, you sent me some prop
bets that are actually very interesting, and there was a
lot of good ones there. Yeah. So obviously, yeah, training
camps open, so we got you know obviously that we
you can bet on pretty much anything these days, but
there are the traditional bets, you know, wind totals over unders.
You get all those pretty much any sports book. But
you didn't seem goes seventeen and or oh and seventeen.

(50:36):
I like those two. Okay, well we'll discuss that in
a minute, But I want to start with there are
a lot now that I'm looking at it, but there
there's a few that really caught my eye, and I
do want to focus on those to start with. So
I'm gonna give you a proposition and you tell me
what you like. So I do want to start with
Jimmy g because we did just talk Trey Lance. If
by the way, if you miss anything, always download the

(50:57):
podcast immediately following the show it is available. Um. So
we just talked Trey Lance. He's gonna be the starter.
Whether we like it, whether he we don't, whether he
should be, whether he shouldn't, it's all but a done deal.
And so I want to start with what's next for
the guy that he is replacing, Jimmy Garoppolo. You sent
these odds via UH odds PR I believe is where
they came from. I'm I'm looking right now. Um, but

(51:19):
let's see here Sports Betting Dot a g is where
you can find these odds, and um, Jimmy Garoppolo next
team Giants plus two hundred Browns plus two Seahawks plus
three fifty Texans plus five hundred Lions plus six hundred
Bears plus eight hundred Jets plus two thousand Saints plus
two hundred What's interesting about the Giants is that this

(51:41):
website points out that as recently as last week, Jimmy
Garoppolo's odds were plus three fifty to be a New
York Football Giant that has been cut in half. Artie Spaniard,
your New York Football Giants, will you be wearing a
Jimmy g jersey here. Uh in two or three weeks
when when the season starts. Yeah, the Giants were plus
to be fifty there down the plus two hundred. Matter

(52:01):
of fact, I think the Seahawks had a little better
odd so they were actually in fourth place. The Giants
were the fourth place team to go ahead and pick
up Jimmy Garoppolo. Now they're the favorite to get him.
And I've said this for the longest time. They should
be the team that gets him. Daniel Jones is not
coming back. They didn't pick up the option, so he'll
play this one more year, and they got Ty Taylor

(52:22):
and and uh what Davis Webber, somebody, Um, let's face it.
I I before I want to go ahead and give
up on the year, I'd want Jimmy Garoppolo to be
my starter, especially since you're not bringing Daniel Jones back
for a fifth year anyway. But you didn't pick up
his contract and he made everybody known on that one. Um,
I'm shocked the Giants haven't pulled off some trade to
get him anyway and have done that. I think that'd

(52:45):
be a perfect marriage. Aaron. Um, I'm sure, I'm surprised.
There's have been more rumors about that though. Going from
fourth to first and not being plus two hundred um
Vegas is hearing something, I'm guessing because otherwise they would
have made that much of a change. Well, I I
I just also think that um, I just don't get
what the Giants are waiting for. Like, first of all,

(53:05):
Daniel Jones isn't the guy. Second of all, as is
the conversation constantly with the Dallas Cowboys and with the
Washington Commanders now getting Carson Wentz, that division is so
wide open, and and you know, like the window, like
we just talked about it with with San Francisco, their
window is now. Everyone in the NFC East there window
can be now with with one or two slight adjustments.

(53:27):
And if Jimmy G and I know that the forty
Niners kind of snuck into the playoffs, you know, one
of the last teams in last year got hot late
in the season. But if Jimmy G can get the
forty Niners in the NFC West into the playoffs and
then of course get them where he did once they
got there, you know, listen, I'm not smart enough to
know what what if he makes a difference in terms
of the over underwin total. But I feel like that

(53:49):
would just be like a perfect spot for him, aren't
He wouldn't be more than a half a game If
it is somebody like Jimmy Garoppolo, I mean it wasn't.
It wouldn't make that much of a difference. What would
make it a good situation is if and that's a
big if. Say Kwon Barkley is the running back they
thought he was when they went ahead and drafted him,
so that takes all the pressure away from Garoppolo. I
think they have a pretty good defense if they're able

(54:09):
to run the ball, take some pressure off Jimmy g
I I think things could work out there. I don't
know what the hell they're gonna give up to get him,
but at this point, it isn't gonna be a whole
heck of a lot. Just take that contract and through
some draft picks at them, and I think they'll be fine,
real quick to do. Any of the other ones makes sense.
I mean, the Seahawks are the Browns are interesting, but

(54:30):
it seems like, you know, they just got Josh Rose
and they have Jacobe Pricett, and then we're gonna find
out about Deshaun Watson soon. But it doesn't feel like
this is trending like a super long suspecial. First of all,
I don't want to turn into to Shawn Watson segment.
Jason and I talked about it last week. It's exhausting.
We need an update so we can all move past it.
But you know, the problems don't make sense to me.

(54:51):
Do they make sense to you? Unless we get something
definitive with two Shaun Watson season long something like that.
You know, it feels like the Browns not only already
had a backup in place, they just got the third
stringer and Josh Rosen. I don't really see the Browns
for Jimmy g unless something crazy happens with DeShawn Watson. Yeah, no,
I I don't see that happening in either. A matter
of fact, that especially for a short term rental, because

(55:12):
unless they know something that we don't know, and that
could be very well possible, they're they're just gonna go
and wait to see what type of punishment and then
go with the uh, you know, with the Shawn Watson
after that. So there's no reason to pick up Jimmy
Garoppolo in that contract. They'll be fine. They'll just go
with their backups like you zed and and worry about that.
I never thought that was a viable option anyway. Really
quick to Seahawks at three, do you believe that they're

(55:33):
just locked in on Andrew Locker. They're they're not going
They're not making a move now. Being I'm Jimmy g
I don't want to go there, that's sure. It's it's
a miserable situation. And um, if I'm Seattle, I'm not
so sure I want Jimmy Garoppolo at this point either.
Maybe I just want to play a year, be bad
and go ahead and start fresh with you know who's
coming out in the draft. I'll tell you what. I

(55:54):
actually have a quick question about Seattle. I want to
discuss that with you next. But before we get to it.

the opposite. Artie Spaniar one disagres at pro uh and two.
I actually asked Alex Tisher to put the soccer game
on in studio because the Sager's update was so riveting
that I wanted to turn it on. You know, I
was thinking about putting it on too. I'm just watching
the highlights. Maybe I'll throw it onto. You know. They
had been looking for that Vermont thing that you mentioned
at the beginning of the show. What's going on with

(56:37):
the sporting event this week? Yeah, that fishing fishing, Yeah,
the fishing on f It was crazy because I will
say really quick, on my way into studio, Um, you know,
I lived by the Rose Bowl and about you know,
two or three times a year, I'm coming into studio
and I see some crazy traffic, and I saw some

(56:59):
crazy traffic. I had no idea that this game was
going on, but quickly realized there was something big going on.
So it's pretty cool. I was actually saw on social
media a couple of people I know are there. So
so it's cool for something like that, I wonder, I
don't know, but but what I would say what the
Sager said is it's cool. It's the largest event in
Southern California since the pandemic. Um, it's funny because I

(57:20):
remember even the Rose Bowl in January of this past year.
It was a big story one that you and I
remember arguing about RN because Ohio state ticket sales were
down for that game. And of course you were saying, oh,
it's because it's because nobody cares about Bowl games, But
it was really because the because the people were still
afraid that the game was gonna get canceled or postponed.
If you remember, even as recently as like six months ago,

(57:42):
they were canceling bowl games and stuff like that. U c.
L A's Bowl game was canceled. So I do remember
that Rose Bowl well, and people were saying that it
was under attended for that all that stuff. So good
to see the world back to normal. Biggest crowd, as
the sager said in Los Angeles in southern California, so
larger than the Super Bowl. It's the larger than the
right dum capacity. By the way, Arnie, there were apparently

(58:03):
a few tickets under a hundred bucks. This My my
father law was a huge soccer film but you know
I had to work, so I couldn't have taken him.
But anyway, Fox Sports Radio, thank you to say Arnie Spanier.
Aaron Torres in on a Saturday night real quick, Arnie,
I wanted to ask you. So we're talking a second
ago about landing spots for Jimmy g and and I said,

(58:25):
I have a question for you about the Seahawks. And
I thought about this yesterday. Everybody saw the report that
dk Metcalf is the latest wide receiver to get a
fat contract, three year extension, believed to be in the
neighborhood of seventy plus million dollars. And one thing I
thought about when I saw that, Arnie, was, you know,
we know what's going on. Uh, you know, we know

(58:46):
what's going on. Uh, you know in Seattle with the
quarterback situation obviously Drew locked this season probably uh, but
but but why I I thought it was interesting. They
must have a plan. Let me let me back, dk
Metcalf doesn't sign this extension if he is not comfortable
with the Seahawks long term plan at quarterback or idea

(59:08):
on what they're gonna be Like. They might not know
the guy, but don't you feel like they had to
tell him, Hey, we're either gonna go get somebody or
we're planet or not being very good this year so
we can draft a guy. I mean, he doesn't sign
the extension unless he's confident in their planet quarterback going forward. Right, No,
I don't. I don't think he cares. I think he
just wanted the money. Matter in fact, there was a
story that I've read today that he bluffed them um

(59:29):
saying he never wanted to leave Seattle anyway, and that
he just wanted to contract, and that he would never
believe and he wanted to stay there no matter who
the quarterback was. I think he was just about the money.
Give me the money. We'll figure out who the quarterback
is going to be after that. But I've got my guarantee,
my guaranteed money, and it's only gonna be a one
year loss with Gino Smith or Drew Lock. We'll get

(59:49):
somebody after that. Can't have a you know, a great
uh quarterback every time. So no, I don't think he
I don't think he knows, because I don't think Seattle
knows who the quarterback of the future is gonna be
after this year. They don't even know whether quarterback is
gonna be this year. A matter of fact, that they
don't know who's gonna be tomorrow. For crying out loud,
they still be making trade. So I don't think there

(01:00:10):
was any guarantee has made the DK Metcalf. I think
he just wanted the money. Yeah, and I and I
will say, I do think that there's probably something to
the idea that that that Seattle may not know, but
I would assume that they've told him, like, hey, you know,
unless Drew or Gino is definitely the guy, we're drafting
somebody big time early in the NFL draft next year.
So interesting thought. Interesting thought, Jimmy, Jimmy, even if they

(01:00:32):
were drafting a rookie, it takes a rookie what the
three to four years to get up to speed, so
it's not like he's going to benefit from that right
off the bat. Also, I guess, yeah, I mean, it
doesn't take everybody. I mean, Mahomes was awesome in year two,
Lamar was awesome in year too. Um, you know, I'm
just blanking off top of my head. Kyler Murray was
starting in pretty good. Joe Burrow made a Super Bowl
in year two. Uh, Justin Herbert was really good in

(01:00:55):
year two. So if it's the right guy, it doesn't
take uh, you know, three or four or five years
to get up to speed. Fox Sports Radio Aaron Torres

(01:01:36):
am I a great driver, carrying ride in this bus,
driving this bus straight down the road. To be honest
with you, but I think you're you're just a little
bit old. You probably eight past your bedtime last night.
You probably had some ice cream as a midnight snack.
That's what why your stomachs upset. But that's both repulsing
and neither here nor there um alright are so uh

(01:01:59):
you know, we we're talking last segment. Training camps have opened,
everybody is reported. We're talking little bit about Jimmy Garoppolo. Uh.
You sent along some really interesting uh prop bets on
some other stuff too. These odds are courtesy of Sports
Betting dot AG, and I want to look at a
different one, which I find to be very interesting. First
coach fired always a fun topic. Matt Rule at plus

(01:02:21):
three fifty, Mike McCarthy at plus four fifty, Peak Carroll
at plus six hundred, Ron riverat plus eight hundred, Cliff
Kingsbury plus a thousand, Frank Reich plus eleven hundred, Dan
Campbell plus twelve hundred Mike Vrabel for some reason plus
twelve hundred. Uh. Anything stand out to you on that
list in terms of most intriguing you usual cast of
characters there. I don't think Pete Carroll is gonna get
fired because they know it's gonna be a bad year anyway,

(01:02:42):
so I don't know what they're expecting. Um, so I
don't see any surprises. I don't think he think he's
going to be canned. I dad, Cliff Kingsbury's gonna get
kid unless they get off to just like a miserable start.
Maybe that's who you should bet on. The team that's
expected to do well gets off to a really bad start,
so they get rid of the coach like four or
five games in to try to salvage the year, because

(01:03:03):
if you're a bad team and you get off to
an oh and five start, though like out of the
hell with that, we knew it wasn't gonna be a
good year anyway, So why fire the coach. Let him
go and earn his money and figure it out out.
I don't think it's gonna be McCarthy because they play
in such an easy division. I think they're gonna be
fighting out for the division lead. Um, I don't know
it's gonna be tough. I guess you can go with

(01:03:23):
somebody like Kingsbury, but I don't think it's gonna happen.
Dan Campbell's up there, but I don't think. I don't
see that either. Somebody's got to be the first coach fired,
though you know that's gonna happen. Maybe Robert Salo, but
I'm not I'm not sure who it's gonna be. Well,
I think, first of all I agree on McCarthy is
that you know Jerry Jones and and Arnie. I don't
know if you remember this, but we were filling in

(01:03:45):
the week after the season two years ago. Remember the
angst that Jerry Jones had in firing Jason Garrett and
like remember that there was like that one week, like
everyone's like, Okay, this is definitely gonna happen. It's definitely
gonna happen. And then there's like three closed door meetings
deciding if they're gonna fire them and maybe they'll bring
them back if they do this. And I remember it's
like a four day topic. They just wouldn't let him go.

(01:04:06):
And so I bring it up because I look at
it and I just don't think that Jerry in year
two unless it's a total, total, total total disaster. Uh,
would Mike McCarthy go? Uh? And I don't get the
Pete Carroll UH deal. I do think Ron Rivera is
kind of interesting. Plus eight hundred. Obviously, Washington a lot
of expectations has not really worked out. I think they

(01:04:27):
made the playoffs in his first year, but they kind
of snuck in. Uh. Dan Campbell, I don't see. Mike Vrabel,
I don't see you know, Arthur Smith? What what? What?
What year are we talking about with Arthur Smith here?
I don't I The only reason I could see it
happening is if they're really, really, really bad, uh. With
Arthur Smith as their head coach. He is, of course

(01:04:47):
the Falcons. It's only year two. I just can't imagine
that he gets let go. But I was gonna say,
maybe if you're in a position where you know you're
going to be drafting early and you can get one
of those quarterbacks, maybe you fire him knowing you're gonna
go in a different action anyway, kind of like a
Kyler Murray Cliff Kingsbury, you kind of figure out who
the coach will be that can best utilize c J. Stroud,
Bryce Young, whoever may be. I think Matt Matt Rules

(01:05:08):
the obvious one, though I meant is probably gonn end
up being Matt Rule. Um, he is the obvious one.
That's why he's the favorite. But I think he should
be a bigger favorite than that, to be honest, Yeah,
I do too. It's it's funny, and I know I said,
I've said this many times about Matt Rule. For people
who listen to the station regularly, this is this guy
is so proof to me though that, um, you know,
when you have the choice, just always go to the

(01:05:30):
place that has the quarterback. Because if you remember when
Matt Rule was hired, um, you know he was kind
of that hot, hot you know candidate that year coming
from Baylor, having all a lot of money, got a
lot of money to that, and he had a lot
of options. He said, I'm gonna go to Carolina because
I'm gonna build this the right way and we're gonna
have time. Well, guess what, you never had the quarterback.
You're not as smart as everybody thought you were, and

(01:05:52):
now you might be on the way out. And so
it just shows you. To me, it's it shows you
just how much, um you know, having the right quarterback
back in this league matters, because this was the guy
that could do no wrong. In San Francisco thinks they've
got a system. The Patriots think they've got a system,
doesn't make an effort who the quarterback because they think
they're gonna win without Tom Brady. Well, San Francia, first

(01:06:12):
of all, Belichick, I mean, he's been proven wrong, right,
I mean, and now we have this situation. I know
you live up there, you can speak to the whole
who's actually calling plays thing blah blah blah blah, this
and that, but you have the situation there. And then
with San Francisco, I don't believe that that Kyle Shanahan
thinks his system is bigger than whatever. I don't get
the sense that one he wanted to draft Trey Lance

(01:06:33):
in the first place, and on top of that that
even if he didn't want to draft Trey Lance, that
he wants to get rid of Jimmy G. But obviously
the powers that be are saying, we drafted this guy third. Overall,
we gotta figure out if he's the guy or not.
So I do think it's a little bit different, but
it is just Jimmy G was gonna take over for
for Tom Brady. The only reason the Patriots got rid
of Jimmy Garoppolo is because of Tom Brady. Tom Brady

(01:06:54):
didn't want him around anymore, and they did a mis
solid by suppostly just getting a second round pick. Remember
we're all said, a second round pig, What are you crazy?
You could easily gotten a lot higher UM than the
second round pick. So that's the reason they got rid
of him. Otherwise he would have been the air a
paired in New England. Well, and that that was when
the Belichick um, the Belichick and Kraft relationship really got frosty,

(01:07:17):
right was Belichick wanted to move him. I wanted to
move Tom Brady, and Kraft would and let him. So
Jimmy went to and one one. Tom Brady got the
suspension and got hurt, wasn't able to do game four
in that in that little four game stretch, and that
was when we should have known. He is talented, but
he is brittles. So I think Matt rule probably makes
the most sense. Like I said, I don't I don't
get the Peak Carroll thing at all. Um, I don't

(01:07:39):
really get Frank Reich at all. And I know, you
know new quarterback. We'll see what happens with with Matt Ryan,
Dan Campbell, I definitely don't get. I think they play
hard for him, Mike Rabel as well. Maybe Stefanski, I
mean if, but I mean he's just been I don't
see Kevin Stefanski at all. So I would say Matt
rule there and probably from there. And I don't see

(01:08:00):
Mike McCarthy either, By the way, I know I'm kind
of just going around in circles here, but I'm trying
to look at this list in real time again, Matt
rule plus three fifty that's probably the best odds three
and a half to one on that. I would probably
went out a few few dollars on that one. Yeah,
And I know we say every year that it's probably
it doesn't feel like there's a lot of guys that
are on the chopping block this year. It just doesn't.
I mean, like I said, uh, you know, Arthur Smith

(01:08:20):
in year two in Atlanta, he wasn't good, but whatever.
Kevin Stavanski just made the playoffs. Mike Vrabel's obviously not
going anywhere. Dan Campbell I can't imagine they let go
of even Cliff Kingsbury. It seems as though they committed
to him alongside Kyler Murray and it seems like it's
the guy Kyler Murray wants, and so we will see
from there. Ernie, So interesting times, interesting times. But I'll
tell you this, man, it is great to have football back.

(01:08:41):
We're gonna we're gonna continue the conversation on football coming
up quick because we didn't get to this as a team.
Gonna go seventeen to know where, Oh and seventeen. You
don't get true odds on that. I think it's like
sixteen to one or or something. They don't give you
good enough odds to do that. But the answer is
gonna be no anyway on that. Yes, I there's I
don't think really any amount of odds that I would
probably risk all that much money on or something. Yeah,

(01:09:04):
So all right, well we got more NFL coming up.

much money for one person. You you gotta spread it out,
give like a million dollars to a bunch of people
or something you can. I can't do one point two
billion to one person. That that I didn't even I
didn't even play. I didn't want to win that type
of Oh you didn't want to win Okay, Okay, I

(01:10:08):
didn't want to win that type of money. Forget it.
Yeah it was uh, you know what, what is it?
The joys of marriage? Like you know, so I work
from home, my wife works from home. We get up
very early, about what five forty five. The other day,
she comes out of the room. I'm just logging onto
my computer. Hasn't had any coffee yet. Aaron, he needs
to go buy a lottery ticket. I'm like, like, right now,

(01:10:31):
you couldn't have had You couldn't have just told me this,
like you know, after I've had coffee or like, no,
she said we need to get a lottery ticket. And
I was like and I didn't even look up. I said,
then get a lottery ticket. Like you're driving to work,
you're gonna stop for guests, supmost you ever won? Have
you ever want anything lottery or anything like that? Like
gambling at all? Like in the casino, I don't know,

(01:10:52):
Like why my wife and I won the New Wind
gave me want to trip to Micronesia. That took Yeah,
that that was a pretty big gift. That was like
so what was so so long story short, So your
wife was pregnant, you couldn't go. You didn't get a
consolation prize or no, I didn't even get the right
SERRONI or the Turtle wax and I love right Serrooni
to San Francisco treat, but you know you didn't. I

(01:11:15):
didn't get that. I didn't I didn't get the turtle Wax.
I got nothing. I couldn't even take. I wanted to
take like my dad, I couldn't even do that. For
long story short, what is the um what is the
uh like set up in terms of who did you
have to call to say, yeah, we we we we
really appreciate it, but we can't go. Like how did
you get in touch with them to let them know

(01:11:35):
they don't care you? Whatever? Does it make as long
as you you know you you film the show and um,
you know you win your prize that they don't care
if you take it or not. They'll just but like
at one point you were gonna go, and then you
obviously couldn't, so give you up to like a year
and then you know, all of a sudden, you know
your wife is pregnant, you get the other stuff is
going on the baby's coming. You just say the hell

(01:11:57):
with it, you just blow it off. They give you
the gift certificate to go. It was like the Pacific
Palau Hotel. It's like where John Kennedy Junr used to go, um,
you know, scuba diving and stuff. I'm like, I'll take
you to Hawaii one you forget about it, and now
you're waiting on her to hopefully take you. But that's
all that's all paid to, the air fair, the hotel,

(01:12:20):
the booze, the food. I don't have to take anything
out of my pocket. That that's the best type of
vacation as a free vacation. Well, you know you gotta
set set the alarm earlier for the wife, as I said,
Rocky and uh, Mickey there for people who missed it.
In our one, Arnie waking his wife up at four
thirty uh and only allowing her to eat raw eggs
straight out of a cup and get the work. Get

(01:12:42):
the work. We need to make that trip. So this
is Fox Sports Radio air towards Arnie Spanier here. So Arnie,
you know, I want to switch gears. And it was
funny because I was gonna save this this segment for
our four. But Kevin just chimed and he said, tell
stinking genius, sir, Charles is loyal to the NBA, not
your amateur, not legit live golf tours. So the story

(01:13:04):
out yesterday Charles Barkley, who I You know, I might
have missed this, Arnie, because earlier in the week he
had said there was no formal offer. They had till
Thursday to make him an offer or he wasn't even
gonna consider it. He did say yesterday that he's returning
to t NT and that he will retire with Turner.
So are you upset? I remember talking about this too

(01:13:25):
three weeks ago. My stance on this was it was
almost to me like the parent who says, I'm not
mad at you, but I'm disappointed. Had he gone to live,
had he taken the money, I wouldn't have been mad
because it would have been you know, tens of millions,
potentially a hundred million dollars, who even knows upwards of
nine figures. But I would have been disappointed because he
is literally the best basketball analyst that we have. He's

(01:13:47):
the face of NBA media, and I would argue, you know,
he's made enough money where it doesn't have to only
be about money, but anyway it becomes official Charles Barkley
not going to live golf. I'm happy to have him
back in that turner booth. Yeah, you know, I guess
he was asking for so much money. First of all,
what what's his contract the turner? Like nine or ten million?
He said, Dan Patrick, twenty million dollars a year. Twenty million.

(01:14:09):
You gotta ask for twenty million. Then you gotta ask
for money that you're gonna lose in indorsements, because the
rumor was he was good already with a bunch of
endorsements from from going to to the Lift golf tournament.
So um, you know, he tried to throw that in
and then when it was all said and done, they're like, no,
we're not paying that type of money. Um, this isn't
the NFL. You know, we don't need an analyst that bad,

(01:14:32):
especially somebody that's really not, um you know, that well
schooled on golf. Yeah he plays a little bit, but
as he really a golf analyst. I really couldn't care,
you know, whether he was gonna leave the NBA or not.
M I would still watch the NBA the same amount.
Whether Charles Barker was doing the pregame or the T
n T show or anything like that. It really wouldn't

(01:14:52):
make a difference to me. But um, I was surprised
they didn't make him an offer. At least some time
I've offered. He just said the hell with it. I'll
just say so good for him, But you're right, how
much money does one person need? I guess he still
wants a whole bunch, So I'll just continue slaving away
at tea and people for just peanuts out there, I guess. Yeah. Well,
it was funny when I was filling in uh for

(01:15:13):
Doug earlier this week, their producer Jason Stewart had a
great point. He said, so tough to decide whether you're
gonna take tens of millions of dollars from this place
or tens of millions of dollars from this other place.
So now I'm with you. Um, I just um, you know,
I think it was. I'm glad and and at some
point it did kind of feel like a negotiating ploy
to get more out of Turner, right because he did

(01:15:34):
kind of say it. You know, for all this all
this bluster, I haven't exactly even been offered a contract
yet but it remained. But but he is going to
stay with Turner. Really, I was gonna say, but do
you really want to get in bed with the Saudis.
I mean, I know people are like, well, you know,
don't make it political. You would take the money to Um.
I don't know. Maybe if I had made hundreds of

(01:15:55):
millions of dollars in my life, I'd be a little
bit more particular. You know, there's a lot of athletes
that turned down endorsement figures because they don't like the
product or who makes the product, or where the product
is made. And then they say, you know, I'm I'm
totally against that. I'm not going to do that. Or
maybe they're saying, hey, the products made with child slave
labor or something, I'm not going to go ahead and
do a commercial for you to that effect. I mean

(01:16:17):
there are people that will do that, so um. You know,
sometimes you gotta be cognizant where the money does come from. Well,
and it's interesting, right because again there's two sides to it,
and I say, I kind of get both sides. Is
that on the one hand, Charles Barkley himself said, hey, look,
everybody's in bed with with somebody in terms of you know,
bad money in the NBA is obviously gonna be playing
games in the the U A E List next year,

(01:16:39):
and so uh whatever. But I also do think that
there's something to be said about this too, arn'tie is that? Um,
you know, it is different. I believe it's different for
Charles Barkley because why it's different for Charles Barkley is
he isn't a golfer who has maybe only made four
or five, six, ten million dollars in his career. Twelve

(01:17:00):
of million dollars. That's a lot of money, don't get
me wrong. But he's made you know, tens of millions
on the court, tens of millions in indorsements, tens of
millions with Turner. I believe, by the way, it might
have been a twenty million dollar total between endorsements and
the Turners salary. It might not have been twenty million total.
But this guy, it's a lot different for him than

(01:17:20):
a guy like Brooks Kepka, who's maybe made ten million
dollars over the course of his career that's being now
offered ten times that in a guaranteed salary. And so
that's where the difference is for me is that, Um,
I think that there there there becomes a certain point, ernie,
where you've made so much money that it doesn't have
to be about the money. Right remember Tiger Woods. What
was the report nine hundred million or something like that

(01:17:41):
that he was offered to Tigers, Like, I've made so
much money, I don't need to take this money. Um,
And you know, I just don't know if he didn't
make so much money, would he have taken it? It's easy.
But that's exactly what I'm saying. No, No, that that's
exactly what I'm saying, is that there becomes a certain
point where where it doesn't have to be about the money.
If Charles Barkley was say, you know whatever, I'm trying

(01:18:05):
to think of an NBA broadcaster who didn't make the
money that he made playing in the money that he
now makes an endorsement. If it was, uh, you know,
Richard Jefferson who's calling games, and maybe that's a bad example,
but you know, if it was whoever. But but Charles
Barkley has made tens of millions, probably a hundred million
dollars over the course of his lifetime. He doesn't have
to take that money. So that to me is why

(01:18:25):
it's different than a twenty six year old golfer that's
maybe one, two, three, four big tournaments but doesn't have
tens of millions in the bank. Yeah, I mean even
and would that even being set there? And um, forget
about whether how much you've won, whether it's been ten million.
I mean, look what they're saying about Brittany Grinder. If
we paid her a decent salaries, she wouldn't have to
go over to Russia and play over there. I you know,

(01:18:48):
I disagree with She's has a pretty good career earnings,
um to begin with. But um, you know, overall you
have to decide whether the money is worth it and
where you're going to earn it. But he's gotta make
that decision one one time or another really quick. What
is your stance in general on lift golf? Because this
is one you know, in our business army, we gotta

(01:19:08):
have an opinion on everything, and we get some right,
we get stuff wrong. This is one that I was
just dead right on. Is I I really thought when
I saw the dollar figures that were being thrown around,
I said, you know, it's going to take one guy
to just say I don't care about the backlash. I
don't care about the negative, the negative press. I'm gonna
take the bag and once that guy gets it, there's

(01:19:28):
gonna be a lot of other guys that follow well.
Phil Mickelson was the guy that took all the arrows now,
as I just said, Bryson, d Shambo, Dustin Johnson. This week,
Bubba Watson, Brooks Kepka is now going Um, this thing
is for real, and they're gonna add more events next year,
a bigger prize pool. I don't think that they are
going to stop getting elite players to leave the PGA

(01:19:51):
tour to come to their tour. Am I crazy? I
didn't think it was gonna have this big of an effect.
I knew it was gonna have some type of ripple effect.
I didn't know what was going to go ahead. And
maybe we uh have some type of you know, dealing
where we may not even have a p GA, or
we might have a permanent tool. I I just I mean,
I look, I'm not a big golf fan, so maybe
if this was happening in the NBA, and um, you know,

(01:20:13):
they were having the A B A to go after
it and they were stealing some of the players. Maybe
that's different. Maybe, you know, if the USFL was actually
stealing like Trick Mahomes. Um, you know they say money talks,
everything else walks. What would happen if we offered what's
Mahomes making forty million a year? Suppose I offered a million? Yeah,
I suppose I offered him a hundred million a year
for two years, for two and make a two hundred

(01:20:35):
million a hundred million a year. Now you got to
decide what you're gonna do. You know, that's the way
to start another league. I guess we found out throw
that money out there and and some players will take it.
I don't really you know, obviously, I'm not the biggest
golf fan out there, so I it didn't bother me
to begin with, but it certainly for all those golfers.
It certainly is a split division there that there's gonna

(01:20:57):
be two weeks or if anything, the p g A
is gonna stuff. That's what's gonna be my next question.
And you know, I'm not a big golf guy either.
And what's kind of crazy that I've learned through this
process is that the p g A doesn't actually run
the majors and so there's a scenario where these guys
can take all the money, play not play in the
events that nobody cares about, and still play in the majors.

(01:21:19):
And so that that was up to the PGA if
they wanted to ban them or from each individual uh events.
They're not going to do that though. There's too many
people that have gone over so that'd be uh, that'd
be just destroying the majors if they did something like
but no, But but my question is the PGA Tour
doesn't run the majors, And so my question is how
much trouble do you think the PGA Tour is it?

(01:21:39):
Because I sit there and say, like, I would not
feel like like if we were if you could invest
in pro sports leagues, I would be selling my PGA
stock now, hook line and sinker as fast as I could,
because I just I just I don't. There's only so
many guys that you want to watch, and most of
them are in live now. Tiger Woods only plays a
couple of tournaments a year. How many guys are there

(01:22:01):
on the PGA Tour that you really want to watch
and how many of them are now and live? How
many you want to watch? Period? You're right about that. No,
it's it's so like I said, it's divided and it's
gonna it's gonna destroy golf. One of them is gonna fold.
I think the PGA is gonna be in big trouble.
If you're gonna allow the live golfers to play in
the four majors and play in there in the lift golf,

(01:22:21):
That's exactly what they're gonna do. And they're gonna take
the money there. Live golf won't be going anywhere when
they're paying this type of money. But can they continue
to afford that? I'd say yes, a lot of money
in there. This is Fox Sports Radio, Aeron tors Arni
Spanier Here on a Saturday night. Coming up, we go
back to the NFL lot to discuss training camps are open,
preseason is almost here. This is Fox Sports Radio. Fox

love it? Yeah? Oh? Is this a remix? Ox tie? Shit?

(01:23:08):
This is not the original? Wow? Maybe maybe I'm getting old.
Maybe my memories fading. I was at a wedding last night.
My few less brain cells today than I had yesterday.
But neither here nor there. Fox Sports radio erin Torres,
Arnie Spanier, Saturday night. So as I said, Arn'tie, why not?
As I said, but uh, preseason is here, h Hall
of Fame game coming up here soon. Everybody's reported. I

(01:23:33):
want to ask you a question, Arnie, and and I'm
gonna be total hot take radio guy. First of all,
did you see Aaron Rodgers when he reported on Tuesday?
I believe it was with the Nick Cage conair. Uh
get up? Did you see good look? Yeah? It's good
look for him. I I thought it was a matter

(01:23:53):
of fact, I thought it was Halloween or something like that,
and that was an old picture posted or something to
that effect. Did pull it off, though they did have
very similar looks. I gotta give him. I gotta give
him credit for that, though I don't think Nicholas Cage
looks like that anymore. That that's for sure. But he
did have the look, no doubt. Let's stop, by the way,
we do have sound of Aaron Rodgers talking about that.
Let's go ahead and get to that. About two months ago,

(01:24:14):
somebody said, man, he really reminded me of Nick Cage.
Before I could get offended, they were like, no, no,
it's a huge compliment. I find him very attractive. I
thought about doing it, but the night before I didn't
have my beater my top. I was gonna meet up
with Alan Lazard and have a conversation about kind of
expectations and focus what we wanted to work on together
going on training camp. And I said, hey, by the way,
I said, this is gonna be a weird question, but

(01:24:35):
do you have any beater tank tops? He's like, that's
a weird question and answers no. I said, well, you know,
if you're out and about and you want to pick
one up, you could bring one by. So he brought
one by. I was still on the fence. It was
this medium for sure. I was still on the fence.
But I woke up in the morning I said, screw it.
That was actually funny. I had not heard that audio before,
so it was obviously I think get in trouble for that.

(01:24:57):
By the way, yeah, I know, because of calling it
a wife beater, people didn't use the word wife, calling
it the other word. Yeah, he'll probably get in trouble
for that. They'll be a little bit of a backlash
for that. Well, if there's one thing we know about
Aaron Rodgers, he does not care about cancel culture. You know.
It was some of the COVID stuff from last year.
So this was my sports radio guy hot taken. And
please tell me if I'm just totally out of line here.

(01:25:19):
When I saw it, I definitely thought it was funny.
It was clearly scripted. Um. You know, he had a
post up about it on social media almost as soon
as it happened. Um, and I think it's it's fun
and it's light. What it also told me, Arnie, was
that this guy is is definitely at a point in
his career where he's just having fun. Um, and he's
just you know, he got his bag highest paid player

(01:25:41):
you know, you know, annual salary in NFL history, all
that stuff. Um, And I was just kind of thinking, Arnie,
he has been around for a while. But we know
what the knock on him is one super Bowl, he's
lost in the playoffs at home a bunch of years
in a row. Uh, what is he what's the statu
lose record in the playoffs since he won that Super Bowl?

(01:26:02):
Ten years ago or whatever. My question is, if you're
a Packers fan, and I understand you're happy to have
Aaron Rodgers two time rating m VP, I get all that,
But do you want a guy that's just happy and
loose and like like? I guess what I'm saying is
when you're the number one seed, you lose with home
field in the playoffs two years in a row, including

(01:26:22):
last year to a San Francisco forty Niners team that
was terrible, you don't score and whatever. Don't you want
a little bit more edge coming from Aaron Rodgers going
into training camp? Or Am I totally overreacting? No? Yeah,
you're overreacting. I mean he's already got edged with inside
his own head. He's believe me, there's a lot of edge.
He's very edgy out there. Um, whatever he's been doing,
just keep doing the same. I mean, he's an m

(01:26:44):
v P. He's one of the top two or three
quarterbacks in the NFL, maybe top two. Yeah, he's only
has that one Super Bowl. But is that all because
of Aaron Rodgers or is that because of the defense
of the people around them. I don't know if you
could put the whole blame on him. I don't think
what he did in the way showed up no big
deal at all. Um, We'll get Russell Wilson showed up
in that throwback his own. Yeah. I mean that's what

(01:27:08):
people do, That's what the athletes do nowadays. So I
don't find it a big thing at all. I I
actually like to look, so I don't have a problem
with it at all. Really quickly, we're talking earlier about
Jimmy Garoppolo the forty Niners, and you said that the
Packers are definitively uh more of a favorite in the
NFC than the forty Niners are. And I do agree
with that. With with Trey Lance as the forty Niners quarterback,

(01:27:29):
I'm not sure that I would have agreed if Jimmy
Garoppolo was quarterback. Beaus, jimm Garpolo just went into lambeau
Field and ended the Packer season last year. Uh. We
know Davante Adams has gone, we know Aaron Rodgers and
I just said, got his bag. Uh. Do you think
that this feels kind of to me like a team
that I think everybody kind of looks at the division. Um,
Detroit is maybe on their way up, but they're not

(01:27:50):
there yet. The Bears will see what happens with just
Justin Fields. I think people are like weirdly optimistic about Minnesota.
By the way, we have a big, big affiliate in Minnesota.
And I said something about the Vikings the other weekend,
and I gotta be careful what I said because because
I heard it from a lot of Minnesota Vikings fans.
But watch out, watch out there. You don't want to
the bosses from Minnesota. That's true too, That is true too.

(01:28:11):
But two things. One, do you see the scenario where
potentially green Bay does take a step back? No, Davante Adams. Obviously,
two years in a row they've had that number one
seed in in the NFC haven't been able to get
over the hump. I just feel like I don't know
if it's gonna be Tampa, if if the Rams keep
doing what they're what they've been doing. But it does
feel like to me, I don't know. I just I

(01:28:32):
don't see a fourteen and three, fifteen and two, even
thirteen and four type type season from them, even with
the week division. I really don't aren't he No, I do,
I actually do. Yeah. I think Detroit still is I
mean they'll be a little bit better, but they only
have three wins. That's really not gonna get much worse.
And the Bears are going to be the Bears. They're
They're right around where they were last year. Minnesota doesn't
scare me at all. The Packers of the class of

(01:28:53):
the division. A matter of fact, obviously you aren't listening
to the Sagres updates. But because the Sager had the
I think he's of the Packers already clinched that division.
We oh well have to listen at the bottom of
the hour. If you didn't put it in there, I'll
make him put it in at the bottom of the hour,
because um, it's already overr the Packers of clinch that division.
Matter of fact, out of all the divisions in the NFL,

(01:29:14):
I think there's only been two clinched so far. That's
the Packers and the Bills. Everything else is up for grabs.
I mean, nobody's gonna nobody's gonna go up against Green Bay.
Um no, A step backwards means they have twelve wins.
I like him in right around twelve thirteen wins. I
think they're gonna be just fine. Minnesota Vikings fans that
is stinking genius one on Twitter, Stinking genius one. You

(01:29:37):
know I'm telling the truth. They know that you don't
think the Vikings. They got the offensive coach, Kevin o'connelly's
coming from uh from the Rams. We got a you know,
Sean McVeigh disciple making the super Bowl last year was
Zach Taylor. We got Matt Laflour. Does you know you
don't think that that giving them in second place? Try
to make a playoffs spot before I go ahead and
give you the division and run into the super Bowl.

(01:29:58):
For crying out loud, your MR teams come from worse
to first all the time. Minnesota finished eight and nine
last year. They can't. They can't be four wins better,
and and the Packers two wins worse. No, no, not
in this No, not not not with green Bay. I mean, yeah,
green Bay may take one game back, They're not gonna
take a big step back like everybody thinks they are.

(01:30:18):
Everybody every year we keep waiting for Minnesota, Minnesota, what's
going to happen? I'm tired of waiting for the Minnesota
Vikings already. As Bill Belichick said, he's moved on to
Cincinnati or whatever it is I've moved on the Green Bay.
I've moved on from that. I'll tell you we'll find
out pretty quick. The Vikings actually host the Packers in
Week one and so not that it's a lost really,

(01:30:41):
they'll start over and one pretty sure two years ago,
didn't they beat well, they beat the Packers last year
in Minnesota. Packers also got smoked in Week one last
year if you remember against the Saints, So you know, well, Minnesota,
I didn't they lose a lot of close games, a
lot of crazy games last year. So well, the Lions
certainly did, I'll tell you that much. I'm trying to
remember with Minnieso snake bid. Yeah, they were snake bid.

(01:31:01):
I think last year it was unbelievable. Actually, we'll talk
about the have has Have the Lions ever been talked
about in a positive light on national radio? Not since like, uh, well,
we might do it next. But first, Fox Sports Radio
has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch
all of our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com

(01:31:23):
and within the I Heart Radio app search f s
R to listen live really quickly. By the way, we
had mL times tweet in. I'm a huge lifelong Packer fan.
And guess what in my thirty seven years of fan
and we've had to the great quarterbacks ever two super Bowls.
Besides the Ram who will the Pack? Who is better
than the pack? Pack will make the playoffs? Again? To

(01:31:44):
be clear, I didn't say the Pack We're not going
to make the playoffs. I could just see the scenario
where instead of being fourteen and three and winning the division,
they go eleven and six and win a wild get
a wild card or something like that. No DeVante Adams
all that stuff. So I'm not saying it will happen.
I'm saying I could see the scenario where it could.
And when I say a down season, I'm talking eleven
and six in a wild card instead of winning the division.

(01:32:06):
And what happens if you had thirty seven years of
fandom with the Patriots always the last twenty years since
Tom Brady has been here, I think how how great
your life has been then with him around? You know?
Oh yeah, no, I mean we all know the jokes
about like, oh this poor child that was born in
Boston hasn't seen the championship and he's six years old,
and yeah he hasn't. He's only seen four championships or whatever.
So uh so, yeah, no Boston, it's uh, it's wild

(01:32:29):
because they were the uh they were just the hard luck. Well,
I mean I grew up in New England. So the
Red Sox have been on a terrible losing streak ever
since Lebron James said that did say a racist place.
So there you go. They are on a losing streak,
terrible losing streaks, horrible interesting interesting, well, uh, speaking of
losing streaks, perfect segue. Not really but Detroit Lions, I

(01:32:51):
said before the break, I said, has anyone ever talked
positively now? As as m Life said? Bernie Fratto certainly
does in his show. I do the Lions like weirdly
interesting Artie. I mean, it's I think I don't think
it's easy to forget. But you know, there were so
many close losses last year. But if you look at
the last couple of weeks, if you look at the

(01:33:11):
last couple of weeks of last season, um, the Lions
start oh and eight, they finished three thirteen and one.
But over there, their final six games they go three
and three, and one of the losses was by four
points of the Falcons. They also lost by two to
the Bears three to the Browns. Uh tied Pittsburgh another

(01:33:33):
close one against Minnesota. Ironically, he were we were just
discussing two point loss to Baltimore. Again. Same with the Packers.
In the same way. I'm not saying the Packers are
going three and fourteen. I'm not saying the Lions are
gonna go fourteen and three and win the division. They
played really hard for Dan Campbell last year. I like
a lot of their draft picks. Jamison Williams, the wide
receiver at Alabama. I don't think he'll be ready necessarily

(01:33:55):
weak one, but he should be ready at some point. Um.
They played really hard for Dan Campbell. They obviously have
a last place schedule, uh the division. As we just said,
the Bears will see what happens with them. The Vikings
Arni Spaniards not a fan of. Obviously the games against
the Packers will be tough. But you also have the
Jets on the schedule, the Panthers on the schedule. Uh,

(01:34:16):
you know, Seattle could not be very good this year.
The Washington Commanders in Week two. I mean, are the
Lions like us and they're like a sneaky seven and
uh well maybe seven and ten kind of team. Could
you see that kind of season for the Lions? Well,
I don't, ye have seven and ten is not that
far fetched. I mean, yeah, it's an improvement of four games.

(01:34:37):
I mean, they'll go as far as Jared Cobb is
going to take him. You're right, they played better than
the second half they got up to the horrible start
with the O and eight. I think Dave Campbell, you know,
for all the fan fair when he came in and
I'll bite their kneecaps and stuff like that, and we're
making fun of him. I thought he did a pretty
good job. Um, there's still not gonna be any better
than a third place team. They're not gonna finish in
the top two. They could make the next step, go

(01:34:57):
from fourth to third, but other than that, there's just nothing.
Not enough there right now. They have a few weapons,
but um, not enough to go ahead and get them
into the top two in that division. Yeah. I just
find them to be one of the more fascinating teams
in the league, just because they played so hard. There
were so many close games and they did play well late.
Uh and again, divisions wide open schedule? Is there really quick? Bears?

(01:35:19):
I didn't mean to turn this into an NFC North segment.
But uh, Bears any hope for them? I mean it's just,
you know, I just look at them and I say,
and I'm a Justin Fields guy, but when you're this
consistently basically, for lack of a better word, inconsistent. Now
they've had a few playoff runs, as we just said,
but when you're this consistently inconsistent, the coaching search was weird. Um,

(01:35:41):
you know whatever, I just I don't have faith. I
just don't have faith. I don't think they're that improved.
I think they're one of these teams that, uh, you know,
you expect them to improve on six and eleven last year.
I see them right around the same team unless I'm mistaken.
No real splashy guys in the off season that we're
added that I can think of. I'm kind of just
sell my bear stock. I just I'm just not very

(01:36:02):
into him. Yeah, I'm not. I'm not into the Bears
taking the next step either. We'll see what Justin Fields
are gonna do this year. Um, not a really explosive
at the scope positions. I mean they got Montgomery at
running back. I mean, not even a thousand yard Russia,
so he didn't scare me there. Also, Um, defensively, I
think they were a little bit of a letdown last year.
You're right for a division that's not all that tough,

(01:36:22):
they should be a lot better. They should fight it
out for second with Minnesota. But I think Minnesota probably
has a lot more talent than Chicago. I really think
Chicago and and and Detroit, Chicago is probably more closer
to fourth place than they are the second. When it's

I don't know where he got that fight from, so
as I'll be talking live all right zero, Oh my goodness,
gracious woman. All right, listen, here's the deal. This show
is going off the rails. So that's what I want

(01:37:30):
to do. I want to bring in the only professional
we got left in this place. Steve to say to
say here to Sagre, go ahead and take this away.
We we we can't have Arnie speaking too much more
So UFC two seventy seven had just finished it sold
out Dallas. Amanda Nownaz has the title back. She's twenty
two and five in her career. She beat Juliana Paina,

(01:37:51):
who's eleven and five. Penny had taken the title last
December with an upset victory. Apparently Noon has won all
five rounds, although those who watched love the action loved
the fight, but Nunez takes it fifty to five, fifty
to forty four, and fifty to forty three, so a
unanimous decision and then some. Nunez had won twelve straight

(01:38:12):
bouts over the prior six years until the upset in December.
This was for the bantam white title at one thirty
five earlier wins for Brandon Moreno and Sergey Pavlovich in
Dallas tonight, so UFC two seventy seven is in the
books and at the Rose Bowl Real Madrid one at
soccer exhibition in front of nearly ninety four thousand. Meanwhile,

(01:38:32):
Phil Mickelson not having a great weekend, but who cares
he's getting paid. It's lind golf. The man's tied for
forty place out of forty eight golfers. Who was gambling
like over the last ten years? I said, like ten
or twenty million dollars or something like that. Yeah, it
might be that Charles that you mentioned earlier is losing
more recently and more often than Phil. It is like,
but yes, there was money lost to that is for certain.

(01:38:54):
Six overpar this weekend for Michaelson after two rounds. Keep
in mind these are only fifty four whole tournaments. The
Live Golf has no cuts. Even the last place finishers
each get a hundred twenty thousand dollars. Each winner gets
four million dollars, and there are only seven regular season
tournaments this year, then the finale in Miami in late October.
They announced earlier this week and expanded schedule for next year,

(01:39:17):
so they're in New Jersey this weekend. Live Golf in
Boston in early September. Right now, Hendrick Stenson's this weekend's
leader in second place, Dustin Johnson three strokes back in
Patrick Read four back. Meanwhile, Michigan is hosting the PGA
Tour this weekend. Tony Finale tied for a four stroke
lead with Taylor Pendrith from Canada. Finale with a third

(01:39:38):
round sixty. NASCAR's at Indian Sunday, not the regular Oval,
but at the Brickyard, their road course. They're a two
hundred tomorrow and A J. Almondinger won the Exfinity race
there today, leading forty two of the sixty two laps.
The NFL preseason starts August four with the Hall of
Fame game that is already next Thursday Night Raiders Jars,
or as the them them preseason is not really the

(01:40:03):
free season. Cannot wait to drop that line on Well,
I'm standing by because we get it every year. The
league's regular season opener, actual football is September eight. News
from the forty Niners this week not good on the
defensive line. Yesterday we found at Eric Armstead could miss
the next few weeks of the spring knee. The news
today Maurice Hurst of San Francisco likely out for the

(01:40:25):
year he needs surgery for a torn biceps suffered in practice. Yesterday,
Aaron Judge hit his forty second home run of the season. Today,
Yankees beat Kansas City eight to What is the MLB record?
You ask for most home runs before the month of August,
Judge with forty two. The record is forty five, but
those were Barry Bonds and Mark McGuire seasons over twenty

(01:40:47):
years ago, so let's just say those numbers are in question.
Aaron Judge, with one more day in the month of
July tomorrow, he is on pace to break Roger Marris's
Yankee record of sixty one homers in a season. The guy,
just in his last fourteen games has twelve home runs.
He's leading the major leagues in RBIs as well with one.
He's batting and even three hundred. Judge had two hits,

(01:41:09):
two walks today. And by the way, the Yankees have
beaten the Royals in every series they've played for seven
years running, believe it or not. Since was the last
time the Royals won a series against the New York
Yankees and it was old Timers Day Yankee Stadium today,
So how did they do in the exhibition game. You
ask the answer, there was none, just a thirty minute

(01:41:31):
pregame ceremony featuring Ron Gidrey to David Cone to Bernie Williams. Ironically,
we're also having old Timer's Day here on Fox Sports,
and with no game as well. The reason in New
York they said too many of the retired players in
attendance were recovering from various operations. Well, I guess that
goes with it. I remember Vince Gully in the press

(01:41:54):
box once of all people, saying how much he hated
old timers games with the patch and because hey, he'd
already seen these guys in his prime, didn't need to
see him again attempting to play. And also he was
deathly afraid that someone would get hurt in their old
age trying to play balls. You know, they have the
Vermont Senior Olympics out here that three three on three
basketball is one of the um sports. They add, I may,

(01:42:17):
I may sign up for that, go for it and
send us all the video. Well you'll do that. Will
they even have like sixty and over, sixty five, seventy nine,
and enter the seventy and over you got seventy. I
was gonna say, I will say with respect to uh
to to our buddy Ryan Hollins who plays in the
Big Three. What what Vince Gully said about the old

(01:42:38):
Oh yeah, that's why I can't watch the Big Three.
I'm like, I don't need to watch Jason Richardson like
limping up the court, you know, after I watched him
win dunk contests and stuff. So the last note, we
had a Yankees Mets game on cable this week. ESPN
got over two point one million viewers for that biggest
weeknight audience for MLB since the Field of Dreams game

(01:42:59):
on Fox last summer. And there will be another one
of those, not with the White Sox, but with the
Cubs this time next month on us. Thank you Steve

Arnie Spanier in until when I fill in an undisputed

(01:43:42):
I'm gonna ask if you could fill in with me. Okay,
sounds good. We should fill in on the odd couple,
because there's nobody more odd than than you. Can't believe
you actually believe me when I said I'm gonna fill
in it on disputed? What's wrong with you? I mean,
I don't believe anything that you say. You really think
they would use me? Artie Spanure and Skip Baylor's ere
odd disputed. I that'd be pretty fun when it not

(01:44:03):
or was. Actually I think he would more than hold
your own. I think I think you would drive Skip
crazy to be you see Skip drives everybody else crazy.
I would drive Skip crazy. Is what would happen. He'd
be like, no, I love Michael Jordan more. Now Skip
would be like get him out of here. I don't
think you'd make it more than two segments. But uh,
but by the way, speaking of whatever, Yeah, undisputed. The

(01:44:28):
undisputed best guy in Vegas, Bernie Freddo, will join us
about twenty minutes from now. Bernie's got all sorts of
good stuff. I hope they're okay. I did you see
the Yes. I want to ask him about that. The
videos out of case people don't know what we're talking about.
There's been all over Twitter. I saw where they've had
terrible what terrible rain? Yes, And I saw what I
think it was the Circle the sports Post. I mean

(01:44:50):
it was I didn't know what it was at first,
Aaron and I'm looking at it. I'm like, is there
like a broken pipe or something there? I figured there
was a broken pipe and it was just gushing out
of the wall one of the sports books and they're like, no, man,
this is like rain from the It must have been
just crazy, you know. No, it's it's awful because that's

(01:45:12):
one it's a great place. So it's ironic because I
I called Bernie a few days ago just to kind
of catch up, and Bernie is a great guy. We
love him, and so yeah, one, I hope he's safe, no,
you know, problems with his house or whatever. But he
did say he's like, oh, yeah, monsoon season. It's year.
And I didn't really know that was a thing, but
I knew the Arizona. Yeah, I went to you have
a we had monsoon season every summer. Yeah, yes, and

(01:45:32):
so so yeah, man, So I I just I did
not know that it was quite uh you know, it
was quite that bad and all that good stuff and
so uh you know, I, like you said, I hope
he's doing okay. And I hope everybody in Vegas, and
we obviously here on in Vegas here on a Saturday night,
so we hope everybody there is doing okay as well.
Crazy crazy, crazy stuff going through the walls of not

(01:45:52):
built like a hundred years ago. It was coming through
the walls of some of the new hotels. It was
just crazy. Well and you know how much money they
spent on that sports book to have, you know, those
TV monitors busted up, so again have to replace the
whole thing. But I just, you know, just people stay
safe out there, because it's more about just keeping safe
and staying out arms way out there. Jesus, Yes, so
real quick. But I saw that Eastern Kentucky. Man, it's terrible.

(01:46:16):
We're we're thinking about the people over there as while
I saw some of those videos over there, crazy times.
You know, I want to get back to Kyler Murray
and a minute, Arnie, but really quick, Harry Chimes in.
I'm ready and excited to get back to owen Field.
Here's the view from my season ticket package. Uh he
tagged Jason and I not not you. Um didn't tag
Plank either. He's obviously talking. He's an Oklahoma fan. He

(01:46:38):
sits right behind one of the end zones. Real quick,
you you excited for college football? I feel like this
year more than others because of the craziness in the
coaching carousel at this time last year. Lincoln Riley going
to USC, Brian Kelly going to LSU. Obviously, that means
that Notre Dame has a new head coach, that Oklahoma
has a new head coach, that Miami has a new
head coach, that Oregon has a new head coach, that Florida.

(01:46:59):
I just feel like there's some excitement to this sport
that there hasn't been in a while. It's still gonna
be Badman, Ohio State and all the usual teams at
the top, But I think USC is more interesting they've
been in a while. I think Texas is more interesting
Texas A and M with that recruiting class. Are you
fired up for college football? I'm fired up for college football.
I'm a little negative on the early scheduling. Me and
Chris Plank argue about this all the time. You know,

(01:47:22):
you have uh more than a ten games on Week zero.
I think there was one good game and maybe like
three good games in Week one alone. But um, no,
I I love it. I'm wondering how the effect of
U C l A and USC announced they're gonna go
to the Big ten and all the other changes are
gonna have effect coming into this season. Um, you know
you're gonna hear the stories all the time. It shouldn't

(01:47:44):
have any effect on the field, but you're gonna hear
those stories. And I think there's gonna be a lot
of bitterness, a lot of angst, a lot of rivalry stuff.
So especially when it comes to U C, l A
and USC that they're bailing on the package, well, absolutely,
and um it'll be interesting to see too. Obviously, Pack
twelve Media Days was on Friday. George Clicoff, the commissioner there,

(01:48:04):
had some some interesting comments to say about kind of
took shots at a kind of back track down that
a little bit also go ahead. Well, he was saying
that there's no way any teams we're gonna leave the
Pack twelve to go to the Big twelve and then, um,
I didn't read the full thing, but he kids, he said, well,
I didn't mean, you know, literally that they were gonna go.
I just meant that, you know, from you know. He

(01:48:25):
tried to back that up a little bit, but um,
he seems pretty sure that the pac twelve is gonna
stay the way it is after U. C. L a
USC leaves. I don't buy that for a second. I
think they're in big trouble. I think we may not
have a Pack twelve or you know, the Pacific Division
in about three years from now, once UL in USC leave.
I agree. I think you know. It's something Jason and

(01:48:46):
I have talked about quite a bit. The Pack twelve
is in a weird spot because it's kind of a
chicken in the egg thing where, uh, nobody really wants
to know. Nobody wants to to be the first one
to leave nobody. Let me put it this way, nobody
wants to commit to everybody else long term, but they
want everybody else to do. In other words, I think
Oregon wants to keep the leak together for right now

(01:49:06):
because it's their best option, but they also want to
keep their options open in case the big ten eventually
expands here in the next couple next couple of years,
if Notre Dame makes a move whatever, uh, and then
that leaves some of those corner schools. Your Arizona Wildcats, Well,
we'll stay if you stay Oregon. But if Oregon, if
you're not going to commit that we gotta look out
for what's best. And so that's kind of the wild
thing to me with um with the PAC twelve thing

(01:49:28):
is everybody kind of wants to do what's best for
them and kind of keep their options open while committing
to each other. That's just it just makes it a
very weird, bizarre deal, you know what I mean. I
don't know if there's a I don't know, if there's
a lot of options out there, they may have to
go ahead and make it a smaller pie. You know,
I went to Arizona, So if I was Arizona, I'd
call up Arizona State and say we're gonna be a
package deal. Um. You know Arizona State, You've seen in

(01:49:50):
the top football, Arizona has got a good basketball program.
I want and I've argued with this with Plank. I
try to send myself to the SEC, but the SEC
is not gonna want you, so they don't well, they
don't want to split up the pie. But then again,
if you could have these super conferences, you gotta You've
already taken up most of the big names out there
except for Notre Dame. You gotta go after some other

(01:50:11):
stuff you have to do. Worry about the other sports.
Arizona does bring you a great program in basketball. I
don't know if that makes a difference at all, but
if not, then I'm gonna take Arizona Arizona State to
the Big twelve and just move on from that. I
can't worry about the pack travel and who are they
gonna really add San Diego State, um Boise State, nothing

(01:50:31):
that really gets excited about it. I'm gonna have to
move on from that now. I agree with you, and
that's you know, That's the thing that has been frustrating
to me to watch a distance is people say, well,
you know, if you get San Diego State, it's you know,
you get this many households, and it's not about households.
It doesn't matter. That's not what we're doing here. That's
not why decisions are being made. And I listen, I
do think say San Diego State and maybe un l V.

(01:50:52):
Maybe that's a question we can ask Bernie is if
he's hearn anything on on U n LV being a
potential team for the whatever the pack, whatever it will be. Um,
you know, you you kind of laugh when I said Arizona,
Arizona State to the SEC. You're like, well, but if
we're talking market size, Um, the Phoenix market is the
top ten market, that's a major program effect. That'd probably
be the biggest market size than any other markets in

(01:51:15):
the in the SEC. Right, So why wouldn't at least
consider having the state of Arizona. And then because it's
it's about brands, and it's about the what what kind
of revenue that you create? If it's it's about what
revenue do you create in a new TV contract? And

(01:51:37):
if trust me, if Arizona created enough revenue, they'd be
in the big ten right now with USC and U
C l A. So it doesn't Arizona State create more
in the city of Phoenix than let's say Rutgers does
in New Jersey or or something like that. Well, I
will say, Arnie, Um, it does, it does, but it doesn't.
But it doesn't matter because those teams are in. But
I do think it starts to become kind of an

(01:51:59):
interesting conversation, which is something that I think a lot
of people have brought up over the last couple of months,
is the idea of do we get to a point
where UH teams eventually do get kicked out of these
power leagues if they're not bringing value. As you said, Vanderbilt,
um there, they're never gonna be competitive in football. They're
they're just not not in this world. Doesn't matter how
much money they have. You know, if they can get

(01:52:20):
to six and six in a bowl game, that's success
for Vanderbilt football. And they're nowhere close right now. Whether
it's Rutgers in the Big Ten, whether it's whoever Maryland
in the Big Ten. It is an interesting point of
as as these conferences continue to grow, as they're trying
to build the best conferences that they can to compete. Essentially,
the SEC is competing against the Big Ten with each other.

(01:52:40):
I don't know that we get there. I don't think
that it's totally crazy though, that that the SEC just says, Vanderbilt,
you're not carrying your weight here. We can get Clemson
or Miami or Florida State or maybe we do have
them and we don't need you anymore. So it's not
anything that i've necessarily I think is going to happen.
But I think it's something that that I would have
laughed that maybe four or five years ago, and now

(01:53:02):
I don't know that I feel that it's that crazy
that in five, ten, twelve years, as college sports continues
to become more professionalized, we basically tell teams you gotta
take a hike. Yeah, and again you're going to the
East Coast so you get those four major programs. Um Granted,
you gotta split it up four more different times for
that piece of the puzzle. How many teams do you

(01:53:22):
want in your conference? Is eighteen enough? Is twenty enough?
How many? Is it going to be enough? That? That's
what I don't know, And I don't know what's gonna
happen to some of the West Coast teams, especially if
you want to watch Late Coast uh, you know, late
late uh football. Heck, it's gonna come to the point
where a lot of these teams may have to go
to independence if there's not gonna be a pack division.
I don't know what the hell is gonna happen. It's

(01:53:43):
interesting to see. What do you think? Do you think
we get any sort of resolution on this Pack twelve
deal before the season starts? No, no, no, this is
something that's probably gonna go on for a while. Um,
no way is that going to happen. You You you
may not get the rest of the teams going to
one to one conference. Uh. Look, I'm still not sure
that the Big twelve is not an option. They say

(01:54:04):
it isn't. We have to wait and see what's going
on there. I'm still worried that Oregon, Oregon State, Washington,
Washington State may make their well way into the into
the Big ten. That panics me. Also, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado,
and Utah maybe off and running to the Big twelve
on their own. There's always been rumors about that. Also,
nothing surprises me. I wouldn't even be surprised if Arizona

(01:54:27):
Arizona State ran off and tried to force their way
into the SEC. It's every man for themselves right now,
tores So. I mean, heck, Arizona might say forget Arizona State,
We're on our own. It's it's every school for themselves.
So you gotta do what's best and what's gonna bring
in the most money. Well, and no one could attest
this better than than your Sunday partner, Chris Plank, is
that that is something that we have learned over the

(01:54:48):
last two years because the last round of realignment a
decade ago, it was seen as Oklahoma does not move
without Oklahoma State and that's not happening now, right, Oklahoma
took the money, took the money and and exactly so
it's a new world. And what's interesting is it's the
weird thing where it doesn't feel like anything is pressing
at the highest levels. Now that the Pack twelve middle,

(01:55:11):
you know, could the Arizona corner schools leave? Like that's
a possibility. I don't think anything's gonna happen at the
top of the sport though, with the Big ten over
the next couple of years. This is Fox Sports Radio

and we didn't get a lot of rain. And frankly,
our our drainage here is not great. I know the
civil engineers have worked on that hard the last decade.
It's getting better. So what you saw were isolated clips
for sensationalism. But Circa had some damage, Caesar has had
some damage. Within twenty four hours, everything fixed back to normal.
Nothing to see here, Move along. But yeah, we we

(01:57:24):
got some rain and it was real, but good grief,
nothing like the only twenty four hours. How many inches
of rain did you get in those must have been
doing It's not really Yeah, the visual, Like I said,
our drainage is not great to an isolated areas when
the cameras go to the right spots. It can rain
hard for twenty minutes and all of a sudden, it
looks like you get that, you know, the dead sea

(01:57:45):
out there for ground out loud. So it's a little
it's a little deceiving, not that it didn't happen, but
it was a little deceiving. Crazy. I thought it was
gonna be a lot worse than that. But Bernie, we
got NFL Thursday. I always told you the preseason is
the free season. Jacksonville take it on, loves Vegas. I'm
all over Jacksonville. I think they got a reason to play.
They're better guys, those starters. Vegas has no reason at

(01:58:07):
all to even think about winning the game or even
showing up their best players. I love Jacksonville and this one, well,
you're right on both the counts in terms of the
philosophy the coaches will bring into the game, and you're
right about the fact that I mean, people who say
don't bet on NFL preseason football, that's just factually incorrect.
It's actually much easier than capping the regular season, and

(01:58:29):
the sports books will you know, it's evidence by the
fact that the limits are much lower and and all
of those things. But there's about four things to watch for.
First of all, coaches we all know, I mean, how
many sporting events are you gonna see. We're on one
side they really don't care if they win. On the
other side, they might. So you look at the who
the profitable preseason coaches are. What John Harball has one

(01:58:50):
like eight team in a row. He's like twenty nine
and fourteen against his bread. Pete Carroll loves to winning
the preseason. Mike Zimmer did, he's gone guys in that nature.
Frankie rank reichlegs to one of the preseason. However, there
are other coaches like Mike Vrabel who couldn't care less.
He's owing four against the spread his last four, Andy
Reid way under five, Bill Belichick, Sean McVeigh oh and three,

(01:59:13):
five and ten against the number, and he doesn't care
if he wins in the preseason. So the first thing
to do is look at coaches, because some really care
if they win, some if they don't. Second, look for
first year coaches. What do I mean by that? And
by the way, there are ten first year coaches this year.
I'm not gonna name them all, but you can find
him and uh uh, here's where I'm going with that,

(01:59:35):
they win six and one. The first year coaches like
to win their first home game. They play hard. They
generally in August, they generally have their teams performing very
well because they want to show the fans that, hey,
you know you hired the right guy where we're gonna
be on the ball. Blah blah blah. Six and one
against the spread their first home game last year, five

(01:59:57):
and two against the number twenty three and twelve in
the last five preseasons combined. First year coaches like to
win that first home game. The other thing to look
at on a schedule is week two on on one
teams against one on OH teams. No one wants to
lose two in a row, and one teams have been
a good bet against one on OH teams. And finally,
and this is really kind of important. As you kind

(02:00:17):
of mentioned, earn a minute to go. Depth is very important,
especially at the quarterback position. I'll give you an example.
The Buffalo Bills. Their quarterback room is pretty good. It's
josh Allan kase Keenoan mc barkley. These are all guys
that have been starters. So all of a sudden on
the fourth quarter. You might have a guy running an
offense who's been a starter in the NFL, and they've
had Sean McDermott's system for five straight years. So that

(02:00:40):
kind of continuity, that kind of depth in the quarterback room.
And Jacksonville, by the way, they have a ton of
players that are fighting for jobs and and the Raiders
not so much. I think you know that the number
one key don't get hurt. Having said all that, my
best bet Thursday is actually the under. You've got a
neutral field set suation two first year coaches. Josh McDaniels.

(02:01:02):
I don't think he cares if he wins. Uh. The
Raiders actually opened up minus three year down to one
and a half. Something money asked coming out on Jacksonville.
But Doug Peterson nine and four in the under in
his Hall of in uh in in preseason games. Five
of the last six Hall of Fame games have gone under.
And frankly, I don't expect to see any team showing

(02:01:22):
any kind of offensive rhythm Oncesoever, it feels like a
fourteen to ten game to me. We're going under thirty
four points. Burn, you know, kind of a random question,
But what has been the early buzz on Josh McDaniels
as the Raiders head coach. I mean, obviously we know
it didn't end well in Denver when he was the
head coach there. Uh, he tried to do the Belichick thing.

(02:01:43):
I'm smarter than everybody. I know everything nobody you know
and like? But do do you get the sense from
talking to people around the organization and people in town
that he's learned from his mistakes, that he's matured? Is it?
Is he going to be different? But what what is
the vibe about him just as a head coach? You're
pretty much later out very well there, Aaron. I mean,
we're being force fed every sixteen seconds. He learned what

(02:02:05):
not to do after he was a time in Denver
doing something very creative. If a player makes a mistake
and practice, he has to run a lap. Wow, that's
that's amazing. I I whoever thought of that? I wonder
if they're gonna do that in the games to look,
we're being force fed Josh McDaniels. All right, we're being
force fed. He's a veteran. Now they brought over some talent.

(02:02:25):
They're in a tough division. I'm gonna break down the
a f C West. To your point, they're saying all
the right things, but they're gonna get on the field.
They have a tough schedule to start there in a
tough division. All that's gonna matter is whether or not
they win or not. And I will tell you there
are you know, you break up the front office, you're
bringing a coach, a new coach in a in a
new system. And I know that Derek Carr and Davante

(02:02:46):
Adams have already gone on both in the Hall of Fame.
They haven't played together in ten years. We don't really
know what we're looking at. So it's all positive. It's
all sunshine and rainbows. And I don't know, maybe if
Phil Nicholson bets on him and get some of his
forty million dollars back, but I'm not really sold yet.
Day I'm gonna put you on the spot a little bit.
I saw some of these crazy props, like highest single
game passing yardage over under five hundred nine and a

(02:03:07):
half yards, our longest reception over under ninety four and
a half yards, our longest field goal over under sixty
two and a half. You like any of these ones
of that pop up regular seasons, most passing touchdowns over
other forty three touchdowns are nineteen interceptions. You like any
of this, well, I'm not a prop guy, but I
will tell you over five nine yards in a passing game,

(02:03:29):
that's got to happen at least once this year, right
when you've got all the new rules and all the
high powered offenses and you know against Yeah, you've got
a lot of big time arms in the league now
that can really open it up wide. I mean you
might see that Week one when you get the Rams
and Buffalo team it up. So I'm not a prop guy, Arnie,
I'm not. I'll tell you this that you know. To me,
a lot of those are shooting babies at the moon,

(02:03:50):
and I just think there are better bets. I will
tell you one bet I like a lot is the
Green Bay win total of eleven over eleven And I
really mean that, uh their minus one to win the
NFC North. That's a sixty percent chance they're gonna win.
And I think the Bears are gonna be bad. The
Lions are rebounding, and I wouldn't go to sleep on
the lines. I think they're gonna go over their six

(02:04:12):
and a half wins I really do. They played over
five hundred football the final six weeks of the season
where they actually checked that they played five hundred football
after going going eleven. They've got three of their first
four games at home against the Commanders, Seahawks, and Eagles.
I thought they drafted Will with Aidan Hutchinson and Jamison
Williams d J. Chark. They have bought into Dan Campbell,

(02:04:32):
but they're not gonna win that division. And I don't
think Minnesota is quite ready yet as well. Green Bay's
defense will be far better than people realize they drafted Will.
They got two studs out of Georgia, Aaron Rodgers. He's
seven and oh historically lifetime without Davonte Adams in the lineup,
nineteen touchdowns, one interceptions. Well, by the way, Rogers also

(02:04:53):
his career fifty five and twenty one against the NFC
North hud and five touchdowns touchdown passes. I think In
Bay wins at division easily, the last one for me
burn real quick. Uh. Anybody that Vegas, Uh you know,
any team that that that jumps out to you, or
that that the betters love, or team that maybe is
overvalued by by the public. I mean, anybody that that

(02:05:14):
the money is really coming in hard on over these
last couple of weeks. Yeah, very much. Still the Dallas Cowboys,
the pros don't like them at all. I know they
were twelve and five last season, but they only had
two wins versus playoff teams. Both were against the Eagles,
which is the weakest playoff team in the field. They
were two and four against other playoff teams. Lost to Tampa,
Kansas City, to Raiders in Arizona. Their defense ranked eight
team again in an opponent's yard per play eason for

(02:05:37):
me to say, and they lost Ranny Gregory. So I
think there's a lot of pressure on that team. They're
letting turnovers last year. You're not gonna repeat that in
back to back gears. I'll give you. I'll tell you, Aaron,
you bring up a really good question because there's a
lot of parody. I started to really do my research
last year in the NFL. If you just blindly bet
every NFL dog in the regular and postseason a hundred dollars,

(02:05:58):
you'd have been up twenty six unit four dollars just
blindly betting every dog. I think there's a lot of
parody in the league. He is Bernie Fratto. You can
hear him at the top of the hour Straight out
of Vegas. Bernie. Also make sure to follow him on
Twitter at Bernie Fratto. Thank you, Bernie, and we were
were listening to the top of the hour. Okay, thanks

(02:06:19):
for having me, guys, enjoy the rest of your show.
That was Bernie Fratto Straight out of Vegas. Uh. Yeah,
A lot to talk about. By the way, I got
some fun coming up for you, aren't. We're gonna play
a little trivia sort of. It's like an audio trio.
You're a horrible a lot of things. Anyway, Before we
get to that, let's get to Steve to Sega with
what's trending? What's up to second? Well, we had to
sell out in Dallas for u f C two seventy seven. Tonight,

(02:06:40):
Amanda NOONEZ regains the belt by dominant unanimous decision over
Juliana pain You who had taken the title from her
last December with an upset victory. A lot of baseball
to discuss. We'll start with Aaron Judge and the Yankees
who be Kansas City eight two. Has Judge hit his
forty two home run of the season. We're not quite
to August. Yet Royals have lost five in a row.
There's thirty nine and sixty two this season. The Yankees

(02:07:02):
winning picture at nine and three was Nestor Cortez Tampa
Bay six four over Cleveland losing pictures act please act
now two and nine. Corey Kluber got the win. The
Rays acquired alfielder David Peralta from Arizona for a minor
league catcher. The MLB trade deadline is Tuesday. Another deal.
The Rockies will apparently not have their closer available for

(02:07:23):
trade because they've given him a two year extension. He
got the save tonight against the Dodgers, five three the final.
That's Daniel Bard, who has twenty two saves and in
the r A under two. The Dodgers acquired reliever Chris
Martin from the Cubs for alf fielder Zach McKinstry. Martin
and x Brave six ft eight has in the r
A of over four this year plenty of strikeouts, though
Clayton Kershaw, with three earned runs allowed, took the loss

(02:07:44):
in Colorado Tonight, San Francisco held on for a five
four win over the Cubs, who made it interesting with
three runs in the top of the ninth. The Angels
on FS one this evening, scored five in the bottom
of the eighth to beat Texas nine seven, show Hey
Otani with an early three run homer. Atlanta one again
six two over Arizona. The Diamondbacks in the first eight
innings had just one hit, one for twenty six William

(02:08:06):
Contreras two homers for the winning Braves. In fact, he
had three hits three RBIs Minnesota. This was one of
the Fox TV games. Ended a three game losing streak
with a victory at San Diego seven to four Byron
Buxton with his twenty six homer. The loss to Joe Musgrove,
who was eight and three but despite eight strikeouts in
six innings, took the l Twins led to one after
seven innings. The Twins are the first place team in

(02:08:27):
the AL Central, two games over Cleveland, still three up
on the White Sock. Chicago White Socks star shortstop Tim
Anderson appealed as three games suspension for making contact with
an umpire last night, so he's playing. He had two
hits on the home game tonight, these batting three twelve
and the White Sox one on a wild pitch bottom
of the ninth, three two over Oakland, ending the a's
four game winning streak. Philadelphia one on an Era in

(02:08:49):
the top of the tenth at Pittsburgh two to one.
Pirates have lost six in a row. In fact, the
Pittsburgh offense went four for thirty three tonight with thirteen strikeouts.
It was a win for Washington over St. Louis at
seven to six. Josh Bell hit a three run home
or bottom of the seventh. The St. Louis Cardinals now
four games back of the first place Brewers in the
NL Central Milwaukee this afternoon on FS one one at

(02:09:10):
Boston nine to four. Trevor Story of the Red Sox
out with a hairline fracture in his wrist. Red Sox
have lost thirteen of their last sixteen games. Cincinnati beat
Baltimore eight to two. Mets won their fifth straight for
nothing at Miami. Winning pitcher Carlos Carrasco eleven and four.
Marlins had just four hits tonight. Meanwhile, Francisco Lindor had
three it's on his own, including home run. Mets still

(02:09:33):
three up on the Braves in the NL East. Seattle
could be making the playoffs finally this year. It's the
longest drout active in the four major sports in North America.
The Mariners this year, when trailing in the ninth inning
or later, have still won nine times, including tonight two
runs in the top of the ninth to win at
first place Houston five to four, beating closer Ryan Pressley,

(02:09:57):
and the Mariners had been oh and five against Houston
this month. It was Toronto over Detroit five three saved
All Star Jordan Romano his twenty third Oscar Hernandez a
three run homer. The rest of the Blue Jays only
had three hids, but they won the game and Tampa
Bay down Cleveland six to four. It was in the
p on the p g A Tour Tony fin Now
with a four stroke lead, and on the Live Golf
Tour in New Jersey, Hendrik Stenson leads back to you,

(02:10:21):
Thank you, Steven Seger. This is Fox Sports, Fox Sports
Saturday to Sega. Will be back with me next week,
Arnie will not because you know, Arnie, yeah, you worked
more now than everyone, so Arnie. Obviously, training camp opened
this week for just about everybody. A couple of teams
open last week. Um and you know, we we we
hear a lot of a lot of the same kind

(02:10:42):
of talk from different teams and different people and whatever.
So I want to do. I want to play a
fun little game. I got some audio of a of
of somebody talking in training camp. I want to see
if you can guess who it is just based on
the audio. It's not Tom Brady's not Aaron Rodgers, not
a voice that you would know. Just curious based on

(02:11:03):
this audio. I'm gonna give you a couple of guesses.
If you don't get the first time, but text you
go ahead and play the first sound. Didn't didn't have
too much time to to watch any any of that now.
I was, you know, focused on on watching film and
preparing for this year, you know when I wasn't changing diapers.
So and he guesses as to who that was, aren't. Uh,

(02:11:23):
it's not Patrick Mahomes. I'm gonna guess because I I
know that's sound of his voice. You're taking it's an
NFL player. It's a quarterback, right, Is that what you're
telling me or what it came from training camp this week? Yeah? Okay,
so it's a NFL player. It's a quarterback that just
had a baby. Boozies changing diapers? Tell you what we
got another we got another sound audio, let's play another

(02:11:44):
one for you. We're just taking at one stamp at
a time. Yeah, we're just taking a one practice at
a time, right starts today. And coach always tells us,
you know, just one snap, one play at a time.
A lot of the young guys, you know, maybe easy
to look ahead, but you know they'll figure out we're
just you know, one snap, one play, you know, one
series at a time. That's I'm just really excited about
this group, really excited about what we have here in
this locker room. And um just looking forward to taking

(02:12:06):
it one play at a time this year. And he
just wants to take it one play at a time.
Though I'm figuring, yes he does. He does want to
take a golf as ill who that was? It was
not Jared Goff, It was not Jared Goff. So it's
not Jared Goff. It's not Patrick Mahomes. I'll tell you what.
I will give you one more sound of audio, go ahead,
tight shooting to be the best offense in the league.
But the guys we have in this locker room, uh,

(02:12:28):
you know, and that's so the ball the playmakers we have,
you know, come together, focus into our jobs. Josh Allen,
not Josh Allen, though, I'll take who who is this?
It was Joel Joey Mullinaro, who used to work at
Barstool Sports and is a voice impressionist, and he did

(02:12:48):
a big bit on every training can't press conference ever,
And I thought it was the funniest thing I've ever
heard of my life because it was every quarterback cliche.
By the way, you see what he said, it's an
NFL player And I didn't say it was an NFL player.
I said it came from training camp, which it technically
did because he did some press conference somewhere. But I
just thought it was it's literally every quarterback sounds the

(02:13:10):
exact That could have been Josh Allen, that could have
been to that could have been whoever. It's well, yeah,
but it's like they all say the same things though.
Oh yeah, we're just trying to get better once anap
at a time one game. What was the line that
that he kept saying that you said, well, I guess
he's tried it. What is it, play sixty complete minutes
or whatever. No, just taking one play at a time

(02:13:32):
is what he said over and over here. Oh, my god,
did that not sound like every quarterback interview you've ever
heard in training camp? Yeah? You know what you should
play if you're going to play some sound as J C. Horne.
Did you hear about him where he called up the
you know there's a Madden hot line. I thought this
was I'm serious, not mad. There's a Madden hot line
and players can call the Madden hot Line if they

(02:13:54):
don't like where there um the rating is and and
ask for a better rating or something to that. I
will tell you this. I know I've said it a
few times. I don't keep me into the laboring the point,
but I um. I was filling in for Doug and
we had kJ Wright on the show, who obviously played
for the Seahawks for number years, played for the Raiders
last year, and somehow Madden ratings came up and he

(02:14:16):
was like, guys in the locker room, get very upset
about that, and like, I'm not gonna lie and say
that I had any idea about that. I mean obviously
when I never played in the NFL, but too he
was like, yeah, guys, get legitimately upset about that stuff. Yeah,
they they they trying to tell you they don't try
to listen to the one the media says are outside noise.
But they know they're mad and rating, right, they certainly

(02:14:38):
know about that. Don't think they know they're Madden rating.
There is no doubt about it. Um, It's just yeah,
It's just it's one of those quirksman, of like you know,
we we think we know the athletes, that we cover
all that stuff, and then you hear stuff like that.
I did not know there was a Madden hotline, by
the way, but I'm not surprised that somebody else finds it.
It's uh. I think it was j. C. Horne Um
that was calling the Madden hot line and complaining that

(02:15:00):
he didn't like his um where his status was, and
then it needs to be and he had like his
buddy with him. He goes, no, no, that needs to
be higher, man, it can't be that. No, you can't.
You can't have any of that. It's gotta be higher.
We'll tell you what. We will look for that sound.
There is one segment left. He is already Spaniard almarators.
We will close out to show us some picks. That's
coming up next. This is Fox Sport tradeo
