how about you, plex A Man, I feel absolutely fantastic, man, Yeah,

(03:28):
fantastic because there's some smooth operators. T G and PLEX
are smooth operators. Smooth operators. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
That's how you get a show going right there, man, Yeah, alright, alright, okay, guys,

(03:52):
we gotta get into this right here. Man. Listen, you
guys know Byron Chamberlain be Chain, You know he is
a very very uh Renaissance type of dude. Man. He's
probably a better golfer than he was even a football player.
And he's a two time Pro Bowl or two time
Super Bowl chap Uh. I had him as a teammate
in in Washington. Uh, super o g oldhead type of dude. Um,

(04:18):
just real cerebral, super smart guy and I enjoyed him.
He actually coached with me um at MARIONATTHA for a
year our last season there when Achilles Smith came on
as R O c Um. He came in and coached
our tight ends and helped with the deal or the
offensive line. So, uh, dude, near and dear to my
heart and well, I had an opportunity to talk with

(04:39):
him and chat with him this week. Here's our legendary
moment presents conversations with a leg And now this is
your legendary moment. It took you a whole to make
your first Pro Bowl, yes, but you finally made it,

(05:00):
and then you went two times. I was there with you.
That was that was when we started we started hanging um.
So it's like full circle, right, You're born there and
then life travels and your success lo and behold brings
you back to Honolulu. What was what was your experiences

(05:21):
like having that like because that clearly had to mean
a little bit more to you than maybe it meant
to other guys, especially if you think about where the
Pro Bowl is now. Now I'm gonna tell you why
it meant so much more to me than other people
that that made the Pro Bowl. So first of all,
my my dad was there, my mom was there, my

(05:43):
sisters came, my brother. That was number one, being able
to bring them back to to the Islands and where
we all started. UH. And it was on me. I
love that that was number one, but number two when
I was born. The year I was born, we lived
in a place called Alava Heights. Alava Heights was torn down.

(06:06):
These apartment buildings were torn down and we had to
move UH to School Street in a AA and they
tore those apartments down. And what did they build on
that site Aloha Stadium. They built the actual stadium that
when my family lived in those apartments where the actual
stadium was built. So that was huge And I remember

(06:29):
doing a doing a huge story with UH sports UH
with with ESPN at the time he was talking about
that newspaper from my USA Today. I have the USA
Today newspaper where me, my mom, and my my oldest
sister are on the cover and and my mom came
up with this uh phrase, and it was the headline

(06:51):
of the USA Today said, uh, he left in pampers
and returned and pass. That was huge for me. I
mean he literally lived where they put a little hall stadium.
I mean that's kind of while like and that I mean,
just to hear him tell that story, like it was

(07:12):
kind of like unbelievable to listen to it. But imagine
you were born in Honolulu. You you lived like the
apartments you lived in were torn down and you were
moved in order for them to build the stadium, which,
by the way, they're not you. I think they tore
that one down. I think that's not there if I

(07:34):
recall it could be off, but I know I'm pretty
certain they don't use it anymore. Um. But yeah, I
thought that was pretty interesting, like you know, full circle.
You you know, you're you're in a place where you know.
He said that he didn't even play football until he
got the high school. I think I think he played
two years if I recall correctly, of high school or no. No,

(07:55):
maybe he played all all of it, but he's he
started playing football eight. You hear so many stories of
guys starting football late, t J. You you didn't play
all the way through, did you? You started a little
late to right? Yea, my first year playing. I was
a senior in high school. I mean, I like, plex,
you're like me, You're you're a legacy dude, right you You

(08:17):
You family everybody played ball. Oh man, my whole family
pay sports man. Um, you know, my mom, my uncle's aunts,
everybody was just I just come from a family of athletes.
So you had to get out of the house and
play something or you couldn't just sit in the house
all day. Yeah. Yeah, what's that, t J? What's that

(08:40):
like to adjust too? Because I always say, like, my
whole thing is And I didn't start man playing football
for for a long time. You know, he played flag
and he got out there. But you know, when I
was coming up, everybody played football. I was going to
my uncle's games. Both my mom and my dad's on
was played at the same And you you appreciate this

(09:02):
because you played in Pittsburgh. My family were their Westinghouse people, right,
so their Western House Bulldogs. So that's Homewood, right. So
I'm at the games with my helmet on. I got
on Pittsburgh Steeler's helmet at at the games. I started
playing football when I could play football. I was like
eight years old when I started playing tackle ball. So

(09:24):
I always felt like, you know, that was like your thing,
like like man, like you play football and then you
develop skill, you develop toughness, and that's something that you do,
you know the rest of the way, you know, going through.
But I've always found it to be very very interesting.
How do you get good at something so quickly like

(09:47):
you started late? How how does that? How does that work? DJ?
You know? And I think is two things because I
started playing so late, like I really enjoy either every
aspect of it, like I wasn't tired of it. Um
when I retired. I coached a lot of guys obviously

(10:09):
you know that in high school football, and one specific
player he's a top ten recruiting the country, and I
never forget him telling me like, bro, I'm tired of
this man. It's like I don't get a break. Season ends,
I go on to seven on, I'm just tired of playing.
I never had that feeling like I genuinely loved football,
like the practice, the competition. And it could be because

(10:33):
I started playing in late, like my son plays flag,
but I'm not gonna let my son play tackle football.
Probably tell these at least eleven years old, because you
get one body, and I want to make sure that
I'm not wearing him out. I'm not putting uh hits
on his body unnecessarily. Now, if that hinders him, it
hinders him. But if you're smart and you understand football,

(10:58):
it doesn't matter when you played the physic kality part
of it. Either it's seeing you or it ain't. And
so for me, it's because I believe I just loved it,
man Like, I like the process of getting better. I
wanted to get better. I was watching guys and I
I tell people this all the time. Had I trained
with y'all, I would have watched y'all just to see

(11:19):
what you guys do well that I could implement in
my game. And so I feel like I was a
quick learner. I was learned from anybody the best sort
of words. It doesn't matter who it is. I'm trying
to learn from everybody. And uh, I believe that was
part of the breath. Dude. I just love it. Like
even to this day, man like, I'm watching football constantly.

(11:40):
I just I just enjoy it. Yeah, I'll tell you what.
It's a wonderful game. It's wonderful experiences and there's so
many different stories, so many different journeys that are like
in so many ways, very similar, but world's apart, and
it's kind of cool to just here. You know, our

(12:01):
legends give give that type of insights. So shots out
to Byron Chamberlain. UM. Yeah, that's a good deal. You
could check out the full interview at Upple and Game Presents. Um,
that's conversations with a legend. Uh. We're gonna take a
quick break, and when we come back, I want to
make sure we have enough time to talk about this. Uh.

(12:22):
It's been a quarterback heavy uh show. We talked about
Tom Brady, we talked about his predecessor in New England,
Mac Jones. Uh. Now we're gonna talk about Dak Prescott. Uh.
He's been metally medically cleared and he's going to get
to start. So we're gonna touch on that and tackle
that topic. On the other side of this break, it's

(12:44):
up on Game. It's t J. Hutchman's Plexico Burst. I'm

(14:16):

in a house. I do not want them in the sand.
I do not want them with a fan but however,
I do want me a green egg. Hey, this way
off subject, A way off subject. Can we talk about
how Terence Crawford is duck in Errol Spence? Oh, I

(14:40):
mean I want to talk to Dak Prescott, but if
you want to touch on it on him to show
end of the show man, Let's get to this cowboys stuff.
That's what That's what our listeners care about. They care
about America's America's sport, self proclaimed America's team. Um, all right,
Dak Prescott, he's medically cleared. He's getting the start versus

(15:04):
the lines, which couldn't be a better team for you
to get your reinter Noe, no, no, no shade being
thrown out my boys in in uh in Detroit. No shade.
That must mean shade come yeah, no, no, no shade.
I mean they just ain't good. Um. But but here's
the thing, Uh, he gets his start coming back the

(15:24):
quarterback controversy that you and uh Plexico was creating with
with Cooper Rush, Uh, it's over. You know, there's no
quarterback controversy. Uh. The pressure seemingly that would have been
building or mounting had Cooper Rush continued to win, came
to an end when the Eagles swooped down on them

(15:46):
and and snatched that that star off of the side
of their helmet. Uh, what does this mean the return
of Dak Prescott because we are going to in a
matter of moments, we are going to touch on the
NFC and what the NFC looks like moving forward into
this season. Where where does this place Dallas for you guys?

(16:09):
How how big is this for Dallas? Um? And then
what way? I mean? The Cowboys have played well and
it was, oh my goodness, is there a quarterback controversy?
And then when Cooper rushed through for a hundred two yards,
it was like, Okay, no, not really for Doc. It's
getting back in the rhythm. You play two games and

(16:32):
you have your buy a week and then the media
schedule kicks in. With the Packers, it's can Dack play
good football coming off this injury? Kenny gripped the ball
with the game plan? How much were they changing? All true?
Because they're running the ball six at a time now. Obviously,

(16:55):
when you pay a quarterback forty million, you're not running
the ball six at the time. But can we get
closer to fifty fifty as opposed to the seventy thirty
thirty five pass that they were doing when Dak was
a quarterback. And so if they could stay in that
fifty fifty range of run pass ratio, I believe the
Cowboys and Dak Prescott will be fine. It's just when

(17:16):
they get past happy things don't work out. It puts
a lot of pressure on the offensive line. But for Dak,
he needs to come back and be and be good
because if he isn't, as much as we know, Cooper
Rush isn't a better quarterback than that, they're gonna be saying, hey,
maybe Cooper should be the quarterback because the coaches coach

(17:39):
differently when he's a quarterback. I supposed when that's the quarterback.
Mm hmm. Man, Listen, the worst possible thing that can
happen for the Dallas Cowboys this weekend if they do
get there early to the Detroit lines and they do
have to throw the football to win this football game
and they have to get passed happy. I mean, just
how healthy is his hand and throw the ball fifty

(18:02):
times a game? And I don't believe that he's a
ready to go. But I think that you know, them
losing last week, going down for and two in the conference,
and now that Philadelphia Eagles are six and no, it
is putting some pressure on them to put back into
the football game because they can't afford to lose another game,
especially in the division the ways my Giants are playing

(18:25):
five and one of the Eagles are six and no.
So but the bigger concern of the whole situation with
Doak is if they just imagine if they do lose
to the lines with Dak Prescott, that's whenever, that's when
it needs to be caused for a concern. I don't
think they need to start him to win to beat

(18:47):
the Lines this week, but them losing that game last week,
going down uh two games behind the Eagles really hurt them.
Like think they kind of pushing them a little bit
to get them out on the on the field, so
you know they have a better chance to win if
if if that is or whatever his hand, maybe he's

(19:08):
still a better option than Cooper Rush. But I don't
think they need him this week to win. But if
the Lions going into Texas Stadium this weekend and beat
them with Dak Prescott, then they asked when we be
gonna have a real issue, a real issue. What type

(19:29):
of issue. I mean, buddy, is it a real issue? Everybody?
Cooper Russia is better for the cow But you you
know that's what he is. That what you're going to hear.
They lose to the Cowboys this weekend. They go down
three games in this division. The way this division is
playing now, I don't think the Dallas coup wasn't playoffs.

(19:49):
Hey Lavard, you think your packer is still making it
to the super Bowl. I don't know that the Packers
are making that to the playoffs. Man, that sucks. I mean,
if you think about you made some terrible choice here
the Ravens playing green Bay and the super Bowl. Hey, bro,
I had the Ravens playing the Green Bay Packers and

(20:12):
the Ravens winning. Tell me I've been sold. I've been sold.
I didn't make terrible I didn't make terrible choices. They
are playing terrible football. He was walking around something about
who you were sold on them? Saints thought they was
a dark course picks. I did dark horse, dark horse

(20:34):
for that first pick? Who is your picks? T J?
How soon we forget Bill? How soon we forget? Yeah?
Looking good, ain't it? You? Said? Bill's Eagles? Now I
would say that. Look, I didn't say Charges. I said
the Eagles were gonna win the NFC East. I did
say that, and I did say that the Cowboys wouldn't

(20:56):
make the playoffs. I did say that. I'm still sticking
with my Charges because I believe in the second half
of the season they're gonna start to play better. Khalil
Mac is really starting to assert themselves, coming off the
edge and being the Khalil Kalil make that. We know
Ekela is underrated back on that team, and you can't
get a healthy Keenan Allen back Mike Williams and Palmer.

(21:20):
I still believe that the Charges win the a f
C West and they will meet the Bills in the
a f C Championship game. Huh okay, now you said
a f C. But we're gonna talk about this NFC more.
But first, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Fox sports Radio dot com and within the I Heart

(21:43):
Radio app search f s R to listen live. NFC. Now,
I don't know who would have said that the NFC
would be in the state that it's in right now,
and and now, no way I said the Eagles was
my number one pick in the NFC and they had

(22:05):
the best draft. Uh this this past year. You can
pull it up. All right, let's let's do this. You
said one team, but let's let's let's let's do this. Okay.
In the National Football League Conference, you have currently got
the Eagles and the Giants on top of the East

(22:25):
six wins, five wins, and the West you have the Niners,
the Rams, the Seahawks, and the Cards all with three wins.
Nobody would have said they've seen that coming. All of
the teams have three wins. Interesting, the Vikings are atop
the NFC North wouldn't have saw that, but could perceivably say, okay,

(22:50):
that's possible. But two games ahead of a three win
packer team, I don't know that I could have said
I saw that. In the South, you're mighty Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yes,
they are a whopping, super ridiculously five team as well,

(23:12):
tied at three wins a piece as well with your
Atlanta Falcons. WHOA, the New Orleans Saints ain't even in
they got two wins. So I'm looking at this NFC
and it is a head scratcher to think that basically

(23:34):
the best teams right now record wise, the Eagles, the Giants,
the Cowboys, the Vikings, and that's it. Everybody else is
three wins or or worse. Now here's what's interesting about
the Cowboys at four wins they're looking at I mean,

(23:58):
I guess they could end up being a wild card. Um.
I guess it's that the pressure that that goes with
being a Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott right now is that
you have to try to keep pace. I would have
never gave the New York Giants five and one right now.
I would have never gave them body did. Let's be

(24:20):
Honest's nobody to expected for my Giants to be five
and one, not even myself, not even this great state
of New Jersey, not even nobody. The New York Giants
starting five and one. But this is one thing I
will say about the NFC this year is that you know, obviously,
the Eagles a sixth and on my Giants of five

(24:42):
and one. The Minnesota Vikings are five and one, which
my two picks I think, who are playing the best
football right now any team in the NFC or the
Eagles in the Minnesota Vikings. The downfall for us these
New York Giants. Is that up are one loss came
to the King to the Cowboys here in New Jersey.

(25:05):
So we have we still have to go to Texas
to really have a chance to be a wild card
in the NFC if the Eagles keep playing the way
that they do. So it's gonna be tough man going
to the second part of the season, because I think
the Minnesota Vikings are underrated, man, I really do. They're
playing defense and this kid number eight teen, justin Jefferson, Man,

(25:27):
he's creating a whole lot of problems out there. This
man is drawing double and triple teams. And you look
at Davin cook Man the way he's running the football
right now, that this got a well balanced offense. And
you know, t J from a from a passing standpoint,
when you have a guy out there on the edge
and number eight team who can draw double and triple teams,

(25:47):
that just makes your running game that much better. So
you know, looking forward, man for the safety support Minnesota
Giants and Eagles right now. Man, So NFC looking strong.
The NFC is I wouldn't say it's a changing of
the guard, but Green Bay has always won their division.

(26:10):
NFC North. It looks like it's gonna be Minnesota's division
now moving forward, the NFC East has always been nobody
wins it consecutive years. It looks like the Eagles will
take over this year. But the wild card is what
Brian Dable was doing in New York. That man needs

(26:34):
to get his credit. Man. He has done a remarkable
job with the Giants. The record, the way they play, uh,
the way they compete every week to the end, to
the last snap. Man, that's coaching. Just look at the
last year. It's pretty much the same team, and you

(26:56):
look at the that's coaching. That's the pity me of coaching.
Brian dave Man, pat yourself on the back because you
and your coach and staff have done an outstanding job.
You look at the Forts now acquiring Christian McCaffrey. If
they can stay healthy. Defensively, they're a problem. They're problems
with Trent Williams, they're a problem. They get pressure with four,

(27:19):
they don't blit you. They don't have to blit you.
So they're dropping seven in coverage and they're getting tremendous
pressure with four. Will the Rams be able to turn
it around? I say no, And so it's a changing
of the guard, so to speak. With the car team,
the real Matthew Stafford police stand ups, dumb, he's sitting down.

(27:42):
Matthew Stafford sitting down staff Police stand up. The Matthew
Stafford from Detroit is the guy that we've been seeing
over the last two or three weeks. So it's not
like schedule not getting easier. They played the a f
C West bro that that's nothing about that easy. If
we had to predict the playoffs for the NFC, who

(28:06):
you got his divisional chaps and and who who's going
in Right now, I'm going Minnesota and Philadelphia Eagles NFC
championship game. You know, I mean to win the division.
Not for sure, we'll go Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Philly, San

(28:27):
fran The wild Cards will probably be I'm gonna say,
the way they're playing right now, the Giants and probably
the Rams. You think so yeah, that only I think.
I think for the Giants. Man only things that we
gotta play Dallas with one more time and we haven't
played Philly yet, so we can make that assessment after

(28:51):
they played the I think they're playing in like three
or four weeks in the last game is in Philadelphia
or the season weeks after. You know, it's crazy that
the Giant for getting really no production. Really, I went
to the game. I went to the game last week.
Se Kwon Barkeley. He rushes for I make seventies seven

(29:13):
seventy yards. Daniel Jones stoles for a hundred and fifty five.
The Baltimore Ravers have three hundred yards of office at halftime.
They finished with four four or fourth team. And you
look at the stat sheet and you say to yourself,
Hinda Heald, did the New York Johns when this football game?
And you know what, and that's exactly what you said, coaching. Yeah,

(29:35):
and I mean when I mean, it seems like they
just they made plays when they needed to make plays.
That's that's what it really appeared to be. Is sometimes
it's just a matter of you just gotta make plays
when you know the opportunity to make plays are there.
And you know that's that belief. You know, I'll say
this selfishly. We we were in a shootout last night

(29:58):
in my high school high school game. Um, we we
couldn't stop a nose bleat. But you know one thing
that that was for certain is on offense, we we
they continue to believe, and we found the way to
score on defense when the game was really really on
the line. Um, we came up with an interception that

(30:18):
gave us an opportunity to drive to get a winning
field goal. And then on the last drive that they
could have had, which they were driving to possibly be
able to tie, they had a field goal kicker that
could tie. We got a sack on on the last play.
Bro and t J and t J. When you said
that the New York Giohntson weren't getting any production out
of the wide receivers, they actually put out like a

(30:41):
tweet in the meme this week that Andrew Thomas all
Tackle has more touchdowns than Kenny holiday In called Darius
Tony in the last two years. They no, no, no, Um,
what I'm about to say levard no s right. Yeah,
when they signed Kenny Golladay, that was bad. Um, you

(31:03):
need a guy that creates separation. At the time, they
were telling Daniel Jones, Oh, we don't want you just
throwing the ball up. Well, Kenny Golladay is a guy
that you just throw the ball up to. He's not open,
but he'll make the play. But now you're trying to
get Daniel Jones out of that last year, so those
two didn't mesh. I thought that was a bad signing.
When they drafted Cardie's Tony. I was doing the draft

(31:25):
for Fox, and I said, I don't like this pick.
This is not a good pick. And through two years
it's holding true. Mhm. I could go for a cheeseburger. Hey, listen,

against this bad before we can go for we gotta
look back now, plaque. It looked like we missed you
last week, but LaVar and t J did some work.
T J went three and oh picking games against LaVar
went to win one, picking totals against the spreads of
both of them. How can you make a little bit
of money this week? I like that, I don't like. Yeah. Down,

(34:15):
let's go on, alright, let's get you a week seven.
Brown's at the Ravens. Ravens six and a half point
home favorites over under forty five and a half. JK.
Dobbins is out, Mark Andrew, Visha, Babman, Ronnie Stanley all questionable.
I'm taking the under on those points and I'm taking Cleveland.
M Well, I'm taking the over on the points and

(34:36):
I'm taking the six and a half Baltimore. I think
they went by ten. Wow. Me and Flex are on
the same boat here. I'm taking the Ravens and I'm
going over al right. Game number two, Christian McCaffrey traded
to the Niners Chiefs one and a half point road
favorites in the Bay over under a forty eight and
a half. Trent Williams Mike McGlinchey tackles both coming back

(34:56):
Nick Boss coming back. McCaffrey may play a little bit
in this one. Man. I'm taking the San Francisco forty
Niners and I'm gonna go under, but I believe the
Niners win this game. Who they're playing, I'm achieve frantity
chiefs oh man. I'm going in Kansas City all the

(35:17):
way and I'm going over the point total no matter
what it is. I think both teams school at least points. Yeah,
I'm taking it over on the points as well at
the point total um, and I'm taking Kansas City. I
think they will be the one the way is the
one and a half? One man, come about more than one?
That was about more than one? Al right, guys. Last

(35:40):
game of the trio Detroit Lions at the Cowboys Dak
Prescott's returned Cowboys six and a half point home favorites
over undert of course, Dak is back. I'm gonna ros
st Brownie DeAndre Swift, both questionable for Detroit. Man, I'm
going under the forty nine for the point total, and
I'm taking Dallas with the points. I think they went

(36:01):
by at least a touchdown. Taking the Dallas Cowboys and
this defense they don't give up many points, so I
will be taking the under. Also, yeah, I'm taking the
under on the point. I guess we're all on the
same page or you know better. You know, um, I
don't even know what that you know what. I don't
want to be like these guys, you know what. I'm

(36:21):
gonna take over the points over the forty five and
I'm still taking the cowboys. Went about touchdown to be
like he heard that three and oh he like, man,
I need to just start to take me over the
forty five and get me the cowboys. I'm not changing
my decision just based upon the pressure that you know,

(36:43):
or you can get that pressure. L Smith is trying
to walk you down. You can get that either. I
don't none of that. Why right he don't want that smoke? Man,
Now he gets up in that ring. He throws them hands.
Why are you ducking in? Let's make the fight happ employer,
come on intention to tell you you have to come

(37:05):
