in just a couple of moments. From now, Jonas knocks

(00:45):
recommended installers. Ti irac dot com the way tire buying
should be. You know what's left up about college football,
especially when you play high level college football. It's never
good enough. Now, you win a national championship, you beat
your our trival, you do all that. All that is fair,

(01:06):
and you'll get full credit for it. But then you know,
like the other ten to twelve games a year, it's
never good enough. For example, Ohio State in Iowa. Right now,
Ohio State's got a sixteen point lead. They've just kicked
off in the second half at the Horseshoe on Fox.

(01:28):
Ohio States the number two team in the country. They've
allowed ten points. Seven of those were a scoop and
score on defense for Iowa. Yet the way the game
is being talked about and the way you're viewing the
game is, Man, what a disappointment. Cheez. We expected so

(01:49):
much more out of Ohio State. Like even on the sideline,
Ryan Day looks like he's down sixteen. Like, dude, you're
in cruise control. Iowa can't score, as documented, and that's
not even busting Iowa Sam's balls because he's controlling this
show here today. No, No, like that's a reality. They

(02:10):
can't score. And yet you're watching this game and you're
looking at Ryan Day, and of course, as I say that,
you know Ohio State throws in interception to start the
second half a gain. Listen, when you podcast this, it's
gonna sound a lot different. Okay, like maybe there is
costs for concern. That's now a turnover there, it's now
two turnovers for Ohio State. Ohio State, that makes five

(02:32):
turnovers total. And so maybe this is a little bit
of a letdown game. Maybe they're looking ahead to next
week as they take on Penn State in Happy Valley.
Maybe that's it. But it's like I'm watching this going
they're winning this game. I get it. They're supposed to
score eighty points a game and they're only on pace
to score fifty two. I get all that, but you're

(02:53):
still winning the game. So it just goes to show
you high level college football it's just never good enough.
It is when you win and beat your our tribal
it is when you win a national championship. But if
you're playing an Iowa team and you're controlling the game
and you're up by multiple scores at halftime at home,
apparently it's not good enough. If you just read the

(03:13):
body language on the Ohio State sideline Jonas Knox or
Fox Sports Radio. All right, so let's get into this.
Russell Wilson's nightmare season has just taken another turn. Like imagine,
like there's been times, and I've talked about this before.
We're all be taking a nap and because of my

(03:34):
sleep schedule, it's so jacked up. It's so jacked up
because I'm waking up at twelve thirty in the morning
in the morning to work out, just so I can
be awake to do the show at the start time
of three am Pacific time, right. So that happens five
days a week. But there's been times where I've taken

(03:56):
a nap on a non work day and woken up
and I swear to God, I've been abducted by aliens.
I have no idea where I am, no clue, no
clue where I am. You, I swear to God. It's
like the scene off Fire in the Sky where he's
hiding under the table and the diner and the syrups

(04:18):
pouring into his face because he just got off the spacecraft.
Uh he was, you know, probably assaulted in very uncomfortable
ways by a bunch of aliens. Uh. He you know,
he got after it a little bit, and uh. And
so now he's sitting under a table somewhere in a
diner and everything's pouring in news like That's what I
feel like when I wake up. Sometimes. Russell Wilson's got

(04:39):
to be feeling the same way, except he can't wake up,
so now he's out against the New York Jets, right,
so he's out. Brett Rippon is going to be the
starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos. And here's the thing.
All Brett Rippon has to do is not turn the
ball over and have a pedestrian type game, and it

(05:00):
will look better than anything that Russell Wilson has put
on on film this entire year. It'll look better than
anything he's done. And that's not I'm not trying to
pile on Russell Wilson, but the world around him is collapsing.
The narrative, all the people who had his back publicly,
all of that is collapsing. It's now Brett Rippon is

(05:20):
going to get the start. He's going to be cheered wildly.
How do I know that? Because this is the same
Broncos fan base that walked out of a game as
they went into overtime. Like these are not made up stories?
All right, this isn't you know, we're just you know,
we're spinning yarns here. You know, we're telling tales about

(05:41):
the campfire. No, no, no, they walked out of a
game that was heading into overtime, Like you only get
eight home games a year, sometimes nine, depending on if
you get the extra home game or if the NFL
decides they don't want to send you to London. Is
punishment you get eight home games a year. It's one
of the great fan bases who seen a ton of success.
They're not a fickle bunch. And they walked out of

(06:03):
a game that was heading into overtime. That's how bad
it was. So you know they're gonna cheer this guy.
You know they're gonna celebrate and every positive thing he does,
there's going to be a cutaway shot to Russell Wilson
on the sideline. It's gonna happen. That's happening. You can

(06:23):
book it. Go to DraftKings, try and get yourself some
action to see if you can place a wager. Russell
Wilson trying to clap and act like he's being supportive,
all knowing everybody around me wants Brett Rippon to do
well because they're all tired of my crap. And now
we're already starting to get the spine job. It's already
starting to happen. So the story comes out that Russell

(06:45):
Wilson's gonna be out against the Jets, all right, So
Jay Glazer was the first to report it. Everybody starts
to run with it. Not that big of a surprise
considering Brett Rippon was getting some snaps in practice this week.
Not that much of a surprise considering Ussell Wilson was
a little bit. You know, he's dealing with the hamstring,
and he's got the latter, he's had all this other
stuff that's going on. Not this the most surprising thing

(07:07):
in the world. Russell Wilson's going to get a start.
Here's the best part about the whole story. Adam Schefter
releases a tweet a short time ago that says that
Russell Wilson wanted to play, but it was Nathaniel Hackett's
call that Russell Wilson he was adamant that he could
play through this and he wanted to play, but Nathaniel

(07:28):
Hackett made the final decision on whether or not he
could play. Right, Yeah, you got it, sure thing. And
my name's Janice. Okay, sure thing, you got it. Whatever
he's so, you mean to tell me, Russell Wilson wanted
to play, was willing to play, could play, but his

(07:52):
coach said no, no, no, no, no, Now I'm making
the final call here not a shot, and how that happens?
Not a shot. This is the same coach who had
to hire a guy in the middle of a season
to help him with game day operations. But all of
a sudden, Nathaniel Hackett's the guy telling Russell Wilson he

(08:14):
can't play tomorrow. I don't buy it for a second.
Russell Wilson realizes I'm a little bit compromised, and he
also realizes if I go out there and struggle again,
I'm gonna have to look around my body to find
another injury to blame it on. He was not under
any circumstance going to put himself in that position if

(08:35):
he wasn't absolutely positive he was going to play well.
So I don't buy it for a second. I think
Russell Wilson understands the noise, He understands everything that's out there.
He understands that people are talking. He knows he's not
playing well. It might be in his head a little bit.
So instead of going out there against the Jets at

(08:55):
home and potentially get booed by his own fans, Russell
Wilson decided to pull the cord. Now they can, they
can put it out there and say, well, Nathaniel Hacke,
Not even for a second do I buy that. You
think Nathaniel Hackett, who's staring a one and done season
square in the eyes, would rather roll out Brett Rippon

(09:17):
than Russell Wilson in what is proverbially a must win
game for the Broncos. Dude, he can't afford to lose
any more games. He can't afford to lose any more
home games. He's not gonna like Brett Rippon. He's not
gonna send Brett Ripping out there knowing he's gotta win
football games. So no, I don't believe it for a second.

(09:42):
I think Russell Wilson made the call. I think he
wanted out of this thing. I think he realized there's
a lot of pressure. Everything's collapsing in on me. This
is a no win situation for me as well too.
It's not just Ohio State, it's also me this weekend.
And so Russell Wilson said, I'm gonna get out of
this thing. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense
for me to go out there and play under a percent,
especially when I'm not playing well. I'm gonna go ahead

(10:03):
and step back, get away. From this thing, and then
who knows, maybe we struggle on offense and maybe everybody
starts to miss me a little bit. I think that's
the case. Jonas Knocks, Fox Sports Radio. You can hang

hell Yeah, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You can hang

Coming up in a little over ten minutes from now.
I might have some bad news, all right. There's a
there's a team in sports that everybody hates, all right,
what most people hate. They're one of those teams. I've
got some bad news for you. All right, this is

(12:15):
a little bit of bad news, but you can actually
make money off this bad news. So we'll get to
that here coming up in about ten minutes from now
here on Fox Sports Radio from the entire rac dot
com studios. By the way, the Iowa Hawkeyes, my god, Sam,
at some point, dude like, okay, well they've got as

(12:39):
many turnovers as first downs. Alright, so five apiece there,
So five's are wild for for the Iowa hawk Eyes.
Ohio State looks to have just scored. I think it's
under review. And uh and so I was not gonna
win this game. But Jesus christ Man, what is it?
What is with the off fence? Dude? Like speaking now

(13:02):
or forever? Holding? Where should I start? Jonas? How much
time do we have? It tastes if I grew up
on on bad offense as as a fan of the
at the NFC Central, I've talked about this many times before.
This is the type of offense you would see at
one year, the one year the Bears had more rushing
yards and passing yards in a season, And I'm not

(13:23):
making that up. It was I think it was the
late eighties or early nineties. That is a true statement.
But at least they could put up yards period. They
actually had yards Iowa. It's it's one thing to just
have a bad offense and not go anywhere. They're just
turning it over in bundles now. And so they make
a quarterback change at halftime. Uh, and they go from

(13:43):
Spencer Peachers to Alex Padillo who played a little bit
last year. And his first snap he he fumbles the
ball and turns it over. Then his second snap he
throws interception. So that's where we're standing right now, and
this game now, please just it's really not fair to
the defense because they were are outstanding. I mean, what
a disgrace. It's to the great passing name of Nate Stanley.

(14:05):
What an absolute disgrace Nate Stanley. Right now they look
a whole lot better. Oh my god. Alright, So so
we will keep you up to speed on on the
offensive performance of the Iowah Hawk Eyes. By the way,
Ohio State thirty three to ten is now the score.
They're in Columbus over the Iowah Hawk Eyes. And we'll
get all the other scores, news and notes, potential upset

(14:28):
in the A c C currently going on, so we'll
get all that from other Great Monsey Bologna is coming
up here shortly as well too. Alright, So, uh, the
big trade in the NFL took place late on Thursday night,
and uh, the Carolina Panthers sending Christian McCaffrey to the
San Francisco forty Niners. Some McCaffrey is now a San
fran forty Niner. He goes back home where he played
his college ball, little reunion there with Kyle Shanahan. Obviously

(14:51):
he knows the Shanahan family because his dad played for
Kyle Shanahan's dad. Apparently Kyle Shannon babysat Christian McCaffrey. So
you've at all these connections, all these ties. And everyone's
talking about the San Francisco forty Niners, who absolutely are
a legitimate Super Bowl threat, and I and I was
thinking about this. The Niners don't make this move if

(15:13):
the Philadelphia Eagles aren't the one seed in the NFC.
And I'm not trying to be disrespectful to Philadelphia, but
let me explain. When you see Philly is the one seed,
they're one of those one seeds that you look at
and go we could beat them. Now, they're a good team.
I love what Nick Sirianni has done. I'm as big

(15:34):
as Jalen Hurts fan as anybody I always have been,
going back to Alabama then going to Oklahoma. Love Jalen Hurts,
but I don't think they strike fear in anybody. When
Green Bay was the one seed, they strike fear in you.
Are you gonna have to deal with Aaron Rodgers. You're
gonna have to now we've seen how that's played out,
and obviously green Bay came up short and their special
teams was a disaster in the postseason and all that.

(15:56):
When Tampa Bay, if Tampa Bay is a one seed,
that's a problem. Now you gotta play Brady, You're gonna
have to go through Tampa. He's at home. He's gonna
get a by we go. I don't think anybody looks
at Philadelphia and they strike fearing you. And I think
the forty Niners looked at the NFC landscape and said,
who do we really have to deal with? Their own
division is a disaster. The Rams aren't great, the Cardinals

(16:20):
are a roller coaster, and the Seattle Seahawks are a
great story post Russell Wilson. Geno Smith's been great. But
I don't think anybody looks at Seattle and says, well,
that's a team we can depend on. Why because their
defense is awful. So the Niners are looking around the
NFC going, why not us, We'll make a deal at
another piece, at another weapon, give Jimmy Garoppolo some more help.

(16:43):
Why not us? And so I think that's why San
Francisco makes a deal, and it makes them more interesting,
and it makes him a legitimate threat in the entire conference.
Here's the best part about the trade the Carolina Panthers.
The Carolina Panthers and the logic in Carolina. Let's hear
from the general manager, Scott Fitterer, who talked about trading

(17:07):
Christian McCaffrey, his star player, to the San Francisco forty Niners.
This is what was best for the organization moving forward,
that this is the right move. As a it's a
tough move because when you have someone of Christians, you know,
stature in the community, the type of player he is,
the type of person he is, it's really tough to
move on from him. Yeah, let me tell you what's tough.

(17:29):
Watching the Carolina Panthers play over the past several years.
They are bad and they're getting worse. I'd be And
here's the here's the comical part of all of this.
Another spin job done well. The Carolina Panthers couldn't get
a number one pick for Christian McCaffrey. That's what they
really wanted, so they took something that was of equal value.

(17:51):
Oh yeah, what's that another number one pick? No, they
got a two or three and a four. Okay, anybody
who's played fantasy football, we'll tell you there's one of
these guys in their league. They'll offer you up a
trade with a straight face. They'll send you a text
on the side, Hey, I just offered you a trade.

(18:11):
Go check out the league. You go into the league
and you're like, oh, well, what are they offering me here?
And like it's three backup running backs for Peyton Manning
and his prime with Denver And you're thinking, what what
what are we doing here? Like why why am I
being offered this? Or they'll offer you up one running

(18:33):
back and to slot receivers, like hey, here's what I'm
willing to do for you. I'll give you Danny Amndla.
I'll give you, uh, you know, insert any other Braxton
Barrios and I'll give you ball all Powell. Can I
get Aaron Rodgers in return? No? You can't thank you though,
but there's three players for one and not really thank

(18:54):
you though. We're good here. That's what the Carolina Panthers
are trying to sell people. Well, we couldn't get a one,
but we got a two or three and a four. Okay,
so you didn't get a one. There is no equivalent.
And I don't want to hear about the draft value.
I don't want to hear about all that stuff like you.
First of all, you have no idea what those picks
are gonna be. It's a lot of scratchers, all right.

(19:14):
If I hand you a book, a lot of scratchers,
and you open up a hundred of them and you
win four dollars, is that the same as a hundred?
No it's not. But I had a hundred in my hand. Yeah,
but you opened up four, that's what you get. We
have no idea what the Carolina Panthers are gonna pull
off here, no clue, and the idea that they're going
to try and sell the value in the comp they

(19:34):
got in return to justify the deal is hilarious. Here's
the other thing that we absolutely know right now, without
a shadow of a doubt, there's going to be a
coaching change in the NFL after the season. Here's how
I know that because Steve Wilkes is not going to
be the head coach of the Carolina Panthers next season,
right He's not. It's over and Steve Wilkes can talk

(19:55):
all he wants about. Well, I'm not tanking. I don't know.
I don't know why everyone's using the word tanking. I'm
not taking No, you're not, but you just the problem
is the organization is tanking, or at least putting themselves
in a position to acquire as many draft picks possible
to hopefully build a roster and build some talent and
hopefully land a couple of picks maybe later in the draft,

(20:16):
maybe land a quarterback at the top of the draft.
You're not gonna need to move up to try and
grab a quarterback. That was the other thing I heard. Well,
the Carolina Panthers are doing this so they can move
up in the draft. I don't think you're even gonna
need to, honestly, but I don't. I don't think that's
gonna be a possibility for the Carolina Panthers. They're gonna
get a quarterback in the next couple of years of
their choosing because they're a bad football team period. But

(20:40):
it's like, you can't look at this any other way
and think when when you when you hear the term
interim and you hear David Tepper talk about, well, you
know what I mean, anybody's a candidate for the job,
and you know, like this, it means if if he
if if we perform well after the trade, you know,
maybe Steve Wilkes will get the gig. Well, he absolutely
will not get the gig now because they're trading away everybody.

(21:01):
It's been a disaster. They've been awful and this isn't
just a Matt Rule thing. Matt Rule is probably gonna
be labeled as the guy behind the struggling Carolina Panthers.
This goes back to their last playoff appearance. They went
to the Super Bowl, they lost against Denver, They had
a down year. The following year, they go to the playoffs.

(21:21):
The next year they lose in a wild card game,
and ever since then they've been awful for years. This
is not a Matte rule thing. This is an organizational thing.
They've been bad there, twenty five games under five hundred
since their last playoff appearance. This isn't a Matte rule thing.

(21:45):
So he can get labeled and he'll he'll be blamed
as another one of these college coaches that fell apart
in the NFL, and like that, everybody there's gotta be
a fall guy everywhere. It's an organizational thing. And so
Robbie Anderson's gone after he gets in a fight with
a coach on the sideline. The Baker Mayfield experience experiment
didn't work. P J. Walkers, you're starting quarterback. The Sam

(22:07):
Donald experiment didn't work. They didn't want to trade for
Deshaun Watson because they didn't want to offer up the
next two years guaranteed on a four year deal, but
the Cleveland Browns did. That's why that deal didn't get done.
Caroline didn't want to offer him a fully guaranteed deal,
but the Browns did. And even if they did offer
him a fully guaranteed deal, he'd still get suspended eleven games.
We're not even hat. We're at the halfway point of that,

(22:29):
and and the Carolina Panthers are out a quarterback at
a receiver out, their best running back on their best
offensive weapon. Potentially some defensive players are gonna be gone.
Their head coach is gone, and so that's what Steve
Wilkes has got to work with. They're terrible, and unfortunately
Steve Wilkes finds himself in a spot to where he's
not going to get an opportunity next year to have

(22:51):
this job. It's not happening. Caroline is gonna want to
go out and make a splash higher. Jay Glazer already
spoke here on Fox Sports Radio and said, Sean Payton
is not going to Carolina. That's not happening. So they've
now put themselves in a position not Matt Rule's fault
were not only are they a bad football team, but
they're a bad football team that's in acquire a bunch

(23:12):
of picks mode. And the future doesn't look good because
it's not a desirable landing spot like even Atlanta. But
Marcus Mario Mariotta was brought in to be sort of
a stop gap quarterback so they could go make a
run because they were also in the sweep stakes to
want to get to Shaun Watson and at least Atlanta
is competitive. They're three and three, and you could argue

(23:34):
they could be four and two if that call didn't
go against him against Tampa Bay. So when I when
I watch how this trade was done, and I hear
everyone try and say, well, the reason they did this
is because they wanted to acquire a bunch of picks
that were equal in value to the number one pick.
Wrong answer, That's not the case. And then when I
hear people talk about Steve Wilkes and it's not a

(23:55):
tanking situate. Steve Wilkes is out. He's done because the
organization is done. So that's where we stand with the
Carolina Panthers. Ever met. Great season so far, Jonas Knocks
Fox Sports Radio, get me on Twitter at the Jonas
Knocks at the Jonas Knocks on Twitter, and you can
hang out with us as always on the I Heart
Radio app as we bring it to you alive from
the tire rack dot Com studios. All right, so we

(24:17):
do have a little bit of bad news in the
world of football. There's a team a lot of people
do not like, and unfortunately this is gonna be some
bad news, but you can benefit from it. We will
get to that here coming up in just a moment,
but for all the latest from around the world of
sports ladies and gentlemen. It's moncy. Let the update take

(24:39):
you over. Yeah, yeah, what mots. You know, I'm over
here trying to learn how to pronounce dj LA. Did
I say that right? No? No, no, Steve Hartman is
telling I didn't say it from the other studio. He's
coming to yell, coming to save you. Yeah. Well, if

(25:05):
you need any any knowledge on college football, hit up
Steve Hartman. He's got every box score it's ever existed.
It's in his brain, right, He's got the box score
from a shootout between Wide Earth and uh and uh,
what's the other guy? I clampton. He's got the box
score from that matchup from the eighteen Hunter. Of course

(25:27):
he does, of course off and then he goes and
learns more about the box score. Greatest sports trivia individual
that I've ever seen in my life. You cannot stump.
You can't stump Steve, not at all, not at all.
I one time gave him like a some ridiculous staff
from who knows when, the eight hundreds, and he like

(25:48):
added to it, and I was like this, of course,
of course, stump Steve try and stump Steve. If you can't,
it can't happen. You can't do it well listen, So
you're cus is stumping Clemson. So they've they've changed their quarterback,
so we don't. We no longer have dj in. They've
officially put in Kade club nick club Nick. I think

(26:10):
it's how it is, Kate club nick in because they're
trying to get a spark. I mean, they were tied
after the first quarter, Number fourteen Syracuse and number five
Clemson tied at seven apiece. But Clemson has done nothing
since then except score a field goal. Uh. Dj his
scores before taking out he completed thirteen passes for a
hundred and fifty six yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions, So

(26:31):
they're trying to get a spark going. We've got one
minute left in the third court quarter. Syracuse is up
twenty one to ten, and then, of course no shocking here.
Number three Tennessee just dominating U. T. Martin all over
the place. The score is fifty eight to seven halfway
through the third quarter. We've also got Iowa I'm sorry,
Iowa Sam which is struggling with number two Ohio State

(26:52):
thirty three to ten with less than seven minutes to
go in the third quarter and number twenty one Sincecinnati
is up on SMU twenty six to four teen about
seven minutes to go in the third quarter of that game.
In NFL news, which you did mention, Broncos quarterback Russell
Wilson will not play tomorrow against the Jets. Apparently this
was determined today after he threw this morning. He had

(27:13):
very few reps in practice this week, so the plan
is they're going to reevaluate his hamstring injury later this
week and determine whether he can play next Sunday in
London against the Jaguars. And you know his wife, he
probably wants to go to London, so they are probably
gonna be in London. What's that supposed to mean? What
do you think they got a brand to look after
something in London? I think she's like, I wanna go
to London. Yeah I do. Yeah, they take pictures like

(27:37):
to post things. You know. By the way, is didn't
his sandwich get pulled from the subway menu or something
like that? Yes, yes, that is the latest. That is
the latest on that. Rippin will start for Denver tomorrow.
The Commanders have played quarterback Carson went on the injured reserve,
so that means he's gonna miss at least four games.
The Packers have also played wide receiver Ranto cop on

(27:58):
the injured reserve, but wide received for Sammy Watkins has
been taken off. He's likely going to be limited tomorrow though,
against the Commanders. And we got two big games in
Major League Baseball. Game three of the ALCS between the
Astros and the Yankees that starts at five or seven
pm Eastern time. You can catch the game on TBS.
Garrett Cole will be on the mound for you for
New York. Can you stand Naviet It will start for Houston,
who leads the series to oh. Game four of the

(28:20):
NLCS between the Padres and the Phillies that starts at
seven pm Eastern time. You catch that game on Fox.
Mike Clevinger will be on the mound for San Diego.
Bailey Falter will start for Philadelphia, who leads the series
to to one. Back to you, Jonas, Thanks Monster Jonas Knox.

minutes from now, we are gonna have another edition of

for everybody. We'll get into that for you here on
fs are UM. Alright, so I do want to also
let you know if you're a ban a fan of
the ponies. All Right, this is a big, big event
that's coming up. It's called the Breeders Cup World Championships
and it's coming to iconic Keenland November four and five.

the action live on November four and five. All Right,
Alabama is going to be in the college football Playoff.

(29:26):
It's happening now. That is going to be a disappointment
for a lot of people because you thought you you'd
rid yourself of the Alabama Crimson tide. You saw the
game last week, the ugliest field goal winning, the ugliest
at game winning field goal in the history of football,
as Tennessee pulls off the upset over Alabama, and you're
thinking to yourself, Okay, finally, we can move on no

(29:47):
more Alabama. Alabama can can can go kick rocks. We're
done here. Bye bye, Crimson Tide, roll Tide, my ass.
Alabama's gone. I've got bad news for you. Here's the
bad news. Alabama is going to the College Football Playoff.
And I don't think it's a stretch to say they're

(30:09):
gonna win a national championship this year. A right, here's
the path. Clearly, they need to win out. They're gonna
beat Mississippi State later on they go to l s
U next week or in two weeks from now. Rather
they're gonna beat l s U. And then they're gonna
be at Ole Miss. And Ole Miss is a top

(30:30):
seven team in the country. This could be a battle
of unbeaten's and it could also be for the the
SEC Championship because they're gonna represent their side of the conference.
If they beat Ole Miss. That's gonna happen. If they
If they beat Ole Miss, Alabama's winning the SEC West.
And then if they win the SEC West and they

(30:51):
went out the rest of their remaining games, which is
Austin P gonna be a tough one against Austin P
and then they're gonna get Auburn, and then they're gonna
go to the SEC title game and they're either gonna
get Georgia or they're gonna get Tennessee. And Alabama, if
they win that game, is going to the College Football Playoff.
And I say all this because I think it's hilarious

(31:14):
every time Alabama loses a regular season game, everybody looks
around and just assumes, oh, that's it. That's at least
we're gonna get some fresh blood in the national championship.
At least we're gonna get some fresh blood. And in
the college football playoff picture, it's not happening. Now, you
can take advantage of it. I mean, they're almost four
to one to win a national championship right now, which

(31:34):
is great value on an Alabama team. So you do
have options. You can cash in on Alabama. Make it
a run for the national championships, national championship, it's gonna happen.
Make a little bit of coin off it. But if
you just look at the path, losing last week didn't
end their season, because if Tennessee continues to win games,

(31:55):
you look at that loss and go, well, yeah, they
lost the Tennessee, But Tennessee is a good football team
and it went down of the wire. So all Alabama
has to do and they do have a little bit
of work cutout for him. L s U. Maybe it's
a little tricky. Obviously, Old MS is gonna be a
tough game. You're gonna see Lane Kiffen. You know he's
gonna have everybody fired up there at the SIP. But

(32:15):
if Alabama wins out and they go to the SEC
championship game, they're either going to get revenge on Tennessee
or if they beat Georgia, Alabama's in the playoff. So
when I see people celebrating the upset last week and
everybody's jumped from for joy, it's two reasons. One it
was a phenomenal college football game, absolutely fantastic. But the

(32:35):
other is everybody just assumes you've ridded yourself of your
Alabama problems. You haven't. There's still in a position to
win a national championship. And for value purposes, if you
want to make some money off it, you can. I
would recommend you do so before the line drops, because
people are gonna be looking around going, oh god, Alabama
is still a legitimate threat to win a national championship.

Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with
us as always on the I Heart Radio app. You

It's one of the most enjoyable segments all week long
in sports radio. It's another edition of Do You Care
and at Yours? Right here on fs ARE Jonas Knocks

(33:16):
Fox Sports Radio coming up a little over ten minutes
from now from the entire act dot Com studios, We're
gonna have another edition of Knox Locks. Gonna try something
different this week because I have to, because I don't
think I've had a winning week all year, So I'm
gonna try something a little bit different this week. Uh
and uh, let'sten. We'll see how it plays out. Unfortunately,

(33:36):
the way things have gone, I have a really really
bad feeling it's gonna go in the opposite direction. But
I'm gonna try and call my shot with one quarterback
in the NFL as part of my Knox Locks trying
something different this week, So we'll have that for you
again a little over ten minutes from now here on
fs ARE. Right now, though, it is time for something
we do every single week, and it's called this. There's

(33:59):
so many stories in the world of sports, and most
of them are a complete waste of time. DMZ reports,
Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big stories from
the last week. But Jonas, the real question is do
you care? And for that we turn it over to
the man with the best pipes in all of radio,
the one and only Danny g What the hell is happening?
Happy Saturday, Happy Saturday to you and yours. Let's start

(34:22):
buddy listening with the NBA. Let's start there. After the
Lakers opening loss to the Warriors, Lebron was brutally honest, saying,
the Lakers do not have any great shooters, no lasers
out there. We're getting great looks, but it could also
be teams just giving us great looks. Do you care? Not? Really?
This is there? You know, part of I feel like

(34:44):
an idiot because I was doing uh. I was on
with Going Rogan with the Great Fred Rogan a few
weeks ago and we were talking about the Lakers season
on on local KNBC Channel four here in Los Angeles,
and one of the questions was the over underwind total,
and it was do you like the over the under
in the Lakers wins, and I was actually pretty like

(35:04):
a little more optimistic. I said, you know, I'm gonna
give them the over on their wins. At halftime of
their season opener, I realized that was a bad bet.
I realized, oh my god, this is going so poorly
and it's only going to get worse. I'm convinced Lebron
has just realized what his situation is and his goals.

(35:25):
He just wants to play with his son. I swear
to god, I think that's that's his main goal here.
He's won his championships, he's obviously got the money. He's
going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer, one
of the greatest ever do it. Some would argue the
best ever. I think he just wants to play with
his son at this point. I swear to god, that's
where I think we're at next. At least, if you
had taken them and it was the Clippers game Rogan
was asking you about, that was a push at least. Yeah,

(35:48):
they're hustling and the defense looks all right, but if
they were able to just knock two or three of
those three pointers down, they would have been in good shape. Yeah,
but that's I mean, that's the problem though. I Mean
the Acers needed help with three point shooting, and they
went out and traded in a fired Russell Westbroo. Why
do you not address the thing you need the most.
I don't get it. It makes no sense. Alright. We

(36:10):
got on the Von cast. Von Miller asked Bills pro
bowler Stefon Diggs who on his team he would not
who's the guy or he asked him who he would allow,
And he's like, who would I allow? Who's a good
guy on this team? I'll tell you who I wouldn't allow.
Gabe Davis. Not him. Do you care? Yeah, because basically
what he did is out him as a scumbag. Like basically,

(36:32):
you know, those guys all talk and they've got stories
about their shenanigans off the field and and and basically
what he did was out Gabe Davis is one of
those guys. Oh yeah, And everybody's got one of those
guys in their group where you're like, dude, you have
no shame. Maybe Gabe Davis is that guy in the
wide receiver room. Next, after three years of retirement, Bruce

(36:53):
Bocci is back. He was named the new manager of
the Texas Rangers. Do you care? No? Like, I don't know.
I mean, listen, Bruce Boche's a great manager. I mean,
who knows, maybe it'll maybe it'll work out. But I
saw some people out there, like somebody on Twitter, I
don't know, it came up on my feed somehow was saying, well,
so much for all the Dodger fans that wanted Bruce

(37:15):
Boche to take over for Dave Roberts. Something to myself,
he's been retired for three years. I mean, Tony LaRusso
worked the first year and then afterwards it was like
people were showing him in the dugout asleep half the time.
I just I don't know. It does nothing for me. Next,
I'm gonna love this one. Landso mccullor's Jr. Cut his
elbow on a champagne bottle during the Astros Clubhouse celebration

(37:37):
after the A l DS triumph over the Mariners. His
A LCS start had to be moved back. Do you care? Not? Really,
I don't understand. I'll be honest with you. Like the
the champagne beer celebrations after every single accomplishment in Baseball's
odd to me. It's like we made the playoffs. Champagne celebration.

(38:00):
We want a first round series. Champagne celebration. We won
our our league, champagne celebration. We want to It's like, dude,
at what point does this start to get old? I
I really don't understand. And like the teams that that
are picking up the wild card spots that that have
champagne celebrations, Dude, all you did was qualified for the postseason.

(38:21):
All right, you're you're gonna get to play a three
game series. It's like the Mariners, how dumb to the
Mariners field right now, Like they're looking around going, hey,
we finally made the postseason. Oops, and it's and it's over.
Like I just I don't know, man, I I don't
get it. But for whatever reason, people get really fired
up about this stuff. Next could you imagine if we
got to celebrate like that after a good radio show.

(38:41):
It's just odd, it's crazy. I remember the Cubs in
like twenty I think it was two thousand fifteen. The
Cubs at a champagne celebration because they clinched a playoff spot,
but they had just lost the game, and they went
in after losing had a champagne celebration and I'm like, wait,
what's I don't I really have never understood it party

(39:05):
all right? According to TMZ, Jennifer Flavin now says that
she likes Dwight the Rottweiler a lot. He was at
first the big reason she originally wanted a divorce from
Slice to Alone, Do you care? Hold on a second.
So she wanted a divorce because she didn't like his
dog pretty much. Yeah, and he covered up an old

(39:25):
tattoo of her with the dog's face over her. Alright, well,
listen as somebody who has his dog's pop print as
a tattoo, I can't. I can't judge anybody's tattoo game
because I've got a couple that i'm and I'm completely
ashamed of that were mistakes made when I was a
nineteen years old that I'd like to get rid of
those mistakes, but unfortunately they're there to stay. But man,

(39:49):
am I crazy? Not liking the dog is non negotiable?
All right? That is a non negotiable thing. It's like
your mom, Okay. And and for those of you don't
get offended, I'm not trying to compare your mom to
a dog. I'm just saying as far as your loyalty goes.
It's non negotiable, right If they don't like your dog,
that's a problem my crazy like if if somebody says

(40:10):
I don't like your now, I don't have to worry
about that because my dog's dead. But thanks for bringing
it up everybody who was mentioning it in their head
as we just talked about it. I mean, you want
to talk about a team that is getting all the
breaks in the NFL. We will get into that for
you coming up here in just a couple of moments
from now. It is Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio plus

(40:31):

you miss the big news out of the NFL, Russell

(41:12):
Wilson is out for his game against the New York
Jets tomorrow as the Broncos are hosting New York. Brett
Rippon is the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos. Uh
the spin job that was sent out via Adam Schefter,
he is the vehicle to spin. The narrative on Russell
Wilson was that Russell Wilson wanted to play, was adamant

(41:33):
about playing, but it was Nathaniel Hackett who made the
call to start Brett Rippon at quarterback. All right, I
would like to call that a bunch of crap. What
I believe happened was that Russell Wilson realizes I'm not
a I can play, but I don't want to put

(41:54):
myself in a position to look bad again. Maybe a
little refresher, maybe recharge a little bit. I don't want
to get booed by the home fans, which absolutely what happened.
I mean they walked out of a game as it
was heading into overtime. They're in my at mile high.
So let's call what it is. Not not exactly thrilled
with what the return on investments brought. Then when it
comes to Russell Wilson and what the offenses look like.

(42:16):
So I don't buy for a second that it was
Russell Wilson or that Nathaniel Hackett made the call and
Russell Wilson wanted to play, but but his head coach
said no. His head coach is coaching for his job.
They've been embarrassed nationally multiple times over. He's staring at
a one and done in Denver. Do you think his
head coach feels like they've got better a better chance

(42:38):
to win the game with Brett Rippon at quarterback than
Russell Wilson. I don't buy it for a second. This
had everything to do with Russell Wilson. He's the one
who pulled the plug on his start tomorrow. Thus we
get Brett Rippon as your starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos. Uh,
and listen, if Brett Rippon goes out there and plays well,
there's gonna be a lot to talk about in a
lot of places on Monday, so at least there's that.

(43:00):
Here's the other part of this. The New York Jets
are the most fortunate team in the NFL. Now, you
can't say that to their fan base because their fan
base are doormats. That's what they are. Now you're probably
asking yourself, well, what's a doormat. Well, doormat is what

(43:21):
you step on as you walk into a home. It's
kind of like rub your feet on him. Shoes are dirty.
Rub it on the doormat before you get in, you know,
just like you step on it's just there. It's kind
of there, you step all over it. Well, that's the
New York Jets fan base because they've been stepped on
for years and years and years. I mean that organization,

(43:46):
you know, pops on a pair of heads or a
pair of double laced l A gears steps and dog
crap and then wipes it off on their fan base
as they walk in and that's called usually their season.
But you can't say that because Jets fans are sensitive.
So god forbid you point out that there's still kind

(44:08):
of rebuilding there under Robert Sala or else. Everyone's talking
about receipts and You've got Jets fans that are that
are bragging about wins and like, I'm catching you know,
I'm catching strays. Because Brady Quinn was projecting the Jets
first nine games of the season and said they would
win two games, and because I agreed with him, I

(44:30):
might have said they would go winless. But you know
that's just for comedic purposes. That's funny, a right, Listen,
you know this is this is professional wrestling. If you
can piss somebody off, piss somebody off and have some
fun with it, why not. But I projected that the
Jets were gonna go winless their first nine games. I
didn't actually believe that, but it wouldn't have surprised me,
because if you looked at their schedule, it was a
daunting task. And then you've got Zack Wilson, who's banged

(44:54):
up there rebuilding. Everybody likes Robert Sala. I like Robert Sala,
But every time the Jets win a game, aim there's
some Jets fan that starts chirping and mentions, and I'm
thinking to myself, dude, the last time you guys were good,
your coach had a foot fetish, Like, what are we

(45:15):
talking about here and like the only time really beautiful feet,
Oh I don't, but thank you Rex. And then the
only time you did win a Super Bowl it was
with a quarterback who wore panty hose. Like, I'm not
making that up. These are factual statements. And so when

(45:38):
I when when I get like these, like these mentions
from people, it's like, what are we talking about here?
Let's just go ahead and break down this four and
two start for the New York Jets. Right, Let's go ahead,
let's break all this down. Right, let's really identify what's
happening here. Your win against Cleveland was all Cleveland. You
had nothing to do with it. There was a willing

(46:00):
participant in that loss for Cleveland, and it was Cleveland.
The Browns brown themselves. That's what happened. Whether you want
to talk about Nick Chubbs scoring instead of taking a
knee that would have ended the game, or you want
to talk about an on site kick recovery that was brutal,
or you want to talk about blown coverage and and

(46:24):
next thing you know, Corey Davis is running with twenty
yards in between him and the next closest Browns defender.
Like whatever you want to call. It was a terrible
performance late game for the Cleveland Browns and awful loss.
One of those ones that you're like, how the hell
that happen? That counts as a win for the Jets.
All right, Well, what about the Pittsburgh Steelers, Well, what

(46:45):
about them? They're not a good football team. And they
also benched their quarterback at halftime because he almost got
in a fist fight with their best wide receiver, and
then they started a rookie in the second half. That's
your other win. Yeah, what about the Miami Dolphins? They
were the talk of the NFL. The Iami Dolphins were
the talk of the National Football League for the first
three weeks of the season. Yeah, but unfortunately you got

(47:06):
him in like week five, and when you got him
too was out Teddy Bridgewater banged his head fourteen seconds
into the game. He was out and Skyler Thompson, a
seventh round draft pick, played majority of the game. That
was your other win? Yeah? Yeah, but what about I'll
give you credit for the Packers you wanted green Bay.

(47:29):
I'll give you credit for that. But I think we
can all agree something's not right with the Green Bay Packers.
Nobody can figure it out. Something's not right, and Aaron
Rodgers looks like he's aged fifteen years through the first
month and a half of the season. So if we're
really gonna be truthful about what the Jets have done
this early in the year four and two is not

(47:52):
the same as a real foeurign two, let's just call
what it is. But again, be proud. As a doormat,
you'll take what you can get. Hey, MUD's better than crap.
Bubblegum on the bottom of the shoe is better than
than feces. I get it. So you've had a little
bit of mud scrubbed all over you, but it beats

(48:12):
what you've been dealing with as a doormat for the
previous season. So congratulations to the New York Jets, who,
by the way, also get another backup quarterback when they
play the Broncos, because now that Russell Wilson is out,
now you're gonna get Brett Rippon. So again, congratulations, the
New York Jets have done it again. I mean, phenomenal
stuff it, Donny, It's phenomenal. Good for the Jets. By

(48:37):
the way, those are factual statements, right. They last time
they were good, their coach had a foot fetish and
the only time they want a Super Bowl their quarterback
war pantios. Those are facts, all right. We're not out
here spitting hot takes on a Saturday. Right. This is
the coal mines of sports stock radio. We speak truths
around here. Those are absolutely true statements. Sense the fact.

(49:01):
And if War fans of that football team, the only
team in the NFL that can claim head coach with
a foot fetish and super Bowl winning quarterback, who are
panty hose? If you're a fan of that team, a
more power to you. Not here to judge, not here
to judge. We accept everything here, all right, Jonas Knocks

(49:25):
Fox Sports Radio, get me on Twitter at the Jonas
Knocks at the Jonas Stocks on Twitter. As we come
to you live here from the ti irac dot com studios.
All right, So I want to make sure we have
full time for Knox Locks. So we are going to
get to Knox Locks. I'm a clock guy. You know,
there's some people in radio that don't care about the clock.
They'll butcher it. They don't care about doing the right thing.
Not on this show. All right, Broadcast professionals through and through,

(49:45):
we don't need to bring Hey, cut it out. I'm
here to address issues that go on in the world
of sports radio during the week all right, not one
of those nickel and dime weekday shows. Here on the weekends,
we care about the clock from the ti irac dot
com studios, all right. So coming up next, we are
gonna have some Knox locks. Also, people are doing this
thing with a team in the NFL. They're really romanticizing it,

(50:10):
that they're falling in love with something that once they
get away from it, they're going to clearly see that
it's not exactly what it's portrayed to be. And we'll
get into that for you right here on FS are
Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with

(50:31):
us as always on the I Heart Radio app. Coming
up in we'll call it a little over ten minutes
from now. We've also got some other news and notes
from around the National Football League. One in particular that
I find a little interesting. It's it's at least something
to pay attention to. It's at least something to monitor
because there's a lot of these quote unquote quarterback controversies

(50:52):
that are out here. I do believe that there is
one that you should be closely monitoring because if you've
seen a track record of one individual, this is something
to keep in mind. So we'll have that for you
here again coming up in a little over ten minutes
from now from the tire IRAQ dot com studios. Uh,
we are going to also talk about some Knox locks

(51:12):
make some picks here as we've been promoting. I do
want I want to point this out though, when it
comes to the situation involving the Dallas Cowboys, who if
you don't know, if you've just been tuning in, the
Dallas Cowboys have now made the decision Dak Prescott is
going to be the starting quarterback for Dallas as they
take on the Detroit Lions. Hand is healthy, Uh, hand

(51:34):
is uh heeled, ready to go. Dak's gonna be your
starting quarterback again with the Dallas Cowboys. This is what's
so funny about the coverage of Cooper Rush and the
Dak Prescott drama and all this. And look all this
is Jerry Jones is doing. He's the one that started
this first alright, so nobody else just thinking quarterback controversy.

(51:54):
Jerry Jones is the guy. There's no guarantees that Dak
Prescott's gonna roll back into the starting lineup and immediately
just pick up and we're gonna be off and running.
There's no guarantees. I mean, like, we we have no
idea what Dak Prescott is going to look like, we
have no idea how the whole thing is going to
shape up. We have no idea whether or not he's
gonna come back and have any grip issues, Like, we

(52:16):
have no clue. But we assume Dak Prescott is gonna
step right up and he's going to continue to play
playing at a high level and he's kind of in
this or continue to play at at a level that
you would expect to be higher than Cooper Rush, even
though the first dose of Dak Prescott that we got
in Week one against the Buccaneers was not a good
one and the offense struggled as a whole. Like, there's

(52:37):
no guarantees, but Dak Prescott is a significant upgraded quarterback.
He just is. But what's funny about the coverage of
Cooper Rush and the Dallas Cowboys is people were doing
something that they all do when they get out of
a relationship at a certain time. Everybody goes through this.

(52:58):
If you get out of a relay, aationship. There's a
certain point and at certain times you start to romanticize everything.
And what I mean by that is you'll convince yourself
you made the right decision, made the right decision. They're
not the one for me. It wasn't working out. This
is best for everybody involved. I've got to move on.
They've got to move on all as well. And then

(53:20):
all of a sudden, in a quiet alone time moment,
you're sitting there, hanging out there, there's there's nobody else around,
You're having this quiet time, You're you're just kind of
by yourself. You start to think about all the good things.
You start to romanticize everything. Now you'll forget about the
fact that they were fooling around on you with the neighbor.
You'll forget about all that stuff, and that all that

(53:40):
will go by the wayside. You'll just focus on, Yeah
but that one time they brought me a cup of coffee.
Yeah but remember when they paid for dinner that one time. Guys,
you remember when they took me on a shopping spread
a ross dress for last My god, who else would
have done that for me? And you just start romanticizing
all the good stuff. That's what was happening with Cooper Rush.

(54:03):
Everybody started talking about the winds, the winds, the winds,
and not exactly the path to how they got there.
That was on their defense. Their defense played well. Cooper
Rush did fine, but their defense played well. They started
making you know, they ran the ball. It became a
little bit more of a priority. But they weren't winning
games because of Cooper Rush. They weren't losing games because

(54:25):
of them. You could argue maybe the Philadelphia game was
the one they lost because of Cooper Rush because he
threw those interceptions. But defensively, Dallas has been really good
and Micah Parsons is a stud. When you're getting comps
to Lawrence Taylor, you're heading in the right direction. But
the coverage on Cooper, it was everybody was romanticizing it.

(54:45):
And look, all of it is because Jerry Jones stoked
the fire, and he had to be the first guy
out there to bring up the word quarterback controversy. Had
to be the first guy doing it. That's Jerry Jones.
So of course he was gonna see it, was gonna
stir it up. He was gonna get everybody excited about
it and get everybody fired up about the potential quarterback controversy,
and so then we all bought into it, hook line

(55:07):
and sinker. Because Jerry wouldn't sell us any lies. We
all bought into it. Mike McCarthy scoffed at it. Everybody
scoffed at it. They should have. Dak Prescott's a better
quarterback than Cooper Rush. But the way we covered it
was odd. It's like there were so many people they're like, well,
you know, I mean, listen, if they continue to go
down this path and continue to do what they do,

(55:28):
I mean, you know that there's the potential that that maybe,
I mean, maybe, just maybe Cooper Rush is gonna be
the guy and Dak Prescott's gonna be sitting at home.
It ain't happening. It's not happening. Dak Prescott's the starting
quarterback the Dallas Cowboys. He his job was never in
jeopardy because they were never gonna put Cooper Rush in
a position to be that way. And give credit to

(55:51):
Mike McCarthy, he gets buried by a lot of people
because of his the way things ended in Green Bay
and sort of the narrative that surrounds him. So Mike
McCarthy gets buried by a lot of people. But Mike
McCarthy and at least the Green Bay Packers put themselves
or in the Dallas Cowboys, put themselves in a position
to win football games, had a manageable game plan. And

(56:14):
here we are, Dallas is in contention in the NFC,
and now they get their starting quarterback back. Because there
was a lot of people when Dac went out, and
let's not forget this, when Dac went out, there was
a lot of people saying season over, Mike McCarthy's done.
The Dallas Cowboys are finished because their starting quarterback is out.
And then just a couple of weeks later, it was like,
well maybe they're better with with Cooper Rush. You know,

(56:35):
maybe there is a quarterback controversy there wasn't We all
romanticized it, didn't want to look at it for what
it really was. And now we're going to because Dac
is back. All right, Jonas knocks here, Fox Sports Radio.
It is time for something we do every single week.
It's this no knocks lock Lion said cowboy. All right,

(57:00):
so away we go. Let's start right here, Lions, Cowboys.
I'm gonna take the Dallas Cowboys, and I'm gonna take
the Dallas Cowboys minus six and a half. To me,
they're gonna get a boost. They love Dak Prescott. This
is one of these polarizing guys in the locker room.
Like when Russell Wilson comes back, maybe they'll be a
little bit of an issue, you know, maybe they're not

(57:21):
gonna be so excited to see him return. When he
does finally return from his hamstring or ladd issue or whatever.
Everybody loves Dak Prescott. I think he gives him a boost.
I don't buy into the Detroit Lions. They're They're awful
on defense. They've really struggled on that side of the football.
I think Dallas is going to get after Jared Goff.
Although the offensive line there in Detroit is vastly improved

(57:42):
over a couple of years ago because they've made offensive
line of priority. I think Dallas is gonna do enough.
Like the Cowboys minus six and a half at home,
the Dallas Cowboys, Steelers, that Dolphins. Oh, come on, give
me the Miami Dolphins all day, and I don't care
about laying the points. Miami on Sunday Night football is
a seven point favorite. I will gobble all of that up,

(58:04):
and here's why to a revenge game. Now you're probably
thinking to yourself, what because he's coming back from a concussion. No, no, no, no, no.
Brian Flores is on the Steelers coaching staff. And let's
not forget Brian Flores basically told to a I don't
believe in you as a starting quarterback in this league,

(58:25):
pulling him from games his rookie season when they were
trailing on the road, talking publicly about the struggles didn't
instill any sort of confidence in his quarterback, basically saying,
this wasn't my decision, not my guy. I'd rather have
Ryan Fitzpatrick in these spots. I mean, listen, Brian Flores

(58:49):
basically crapped all over to UH his first year in
the league, his first couple of years in the league.
So now TA gets a little bit of coaching. All
of a sudden, he gets a little bit of trust
from his head coach, and next thing, you know, to
us playing much better football. What do you know how
that happened? Coach believes in you, you play better football.
I think Miami gets it done here at home. I
don't care about the seven points. I'll gladly take the

(59:12):
seven points in the side of the Miami Dolphins. I
think two is on a revenge tour against Brian Flores.
I think it happens on Sunday Night football. I think
they get it done at home. Seahawks said, Chargers, all right,
so we're gonna do something a little bit different here.
I'm gonna go to the prop betting market. All right.
This is a prop bet that you can find on
DraftKings and some others, but specifically on DraftKings. Justin Herbert

(59:37):
over two hundred eighty five and a half passing yards. Listen,
the Seattle defense is not good. I mean, Geno Smith
can do whatever the hell they want. He can go
out there and put up as many points as he wants.
The problem is on defense, they can't stop anybody. Now.
They did against Arizona, So it's gonna make their team
stats look a little bit better because Arizona has been

(59:59):
all up and dow as we've seen play out. You've
got Cliff and Kyler arguing all the time. But the
Seattle Seahawks defensively have really struggled, and they've got injuries
all over that side of the football. We obviously know
what happened with Jamal Adams earlier in the year. I
think Justin Herbert bounces back from sort of an up
and down rocky performance against the Denver Broncos. I think

(01:00:20):
the the l A Chargers at home put up some points.
I think they try and air it out. Get Justin
Herbert back to the Herbert that we've seen throughout the
course of majority of his career. I like Justin Herbert
over two hundred eighty five and a half passing yards.
And that is your Week seven edition of Knox Locks.

(01:00:40):
Feeling good about this week? Um, By the way, we
like to skip over some of the the bad performances,
you know, like those bad performances like me going one
and two last week for like a third straight week.
The only game I won was Bangles at the Saints,
and that took a comeback by Joe Burrow uh and
the Cincinnati Bengals to get it done. Other than that,

(01:01:02):
I had the Packers over the Jets. That was a
loss I took. I took value in the Chiefs being
underdogs at home against the Bills. We saw how that
played out. So yeah, it's unfortunate. Another one in two
performance last week. But I do like those picks. So
I like Dallas. I think that's a strong pick there.
I like the dak Press got rebound. I like the
tour revenge game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Brian Flores.

(01:01:22):
And then I'll take me some Justin Herbert over in
passing yards. So we'll, uh, we'll have some fun with that.
At least it's something to pay attention to over a
busy Sunday into the nighttime there in the NFL. By
the way, welcome to the Fox Sports Radio Tailgate presented
by the Big Green Egg. Nothing beats the flavor of
live fire cooking on a Big Green Egg. It's the
most versatile grill you'll ever own, backed by a lifetime

(01:01:44):
warranty roll with the best shop online for free delivery,
a Big green egg dot Com lifetime warranty, free home delivery,
Big green egg dot Com. Alright, so coming up there
is something that we need to pay attention to. There's
a potential controversy in the NFL. If there's one person
that you should take serious when it comes to this
and not scoff at, it's this person. I'll tell you

(01:02:06):
who it is. Coming up here on Fox Sports radio.
But for all the latest from around the world of
sports and a busy Saturday in the world of college football,
it's Monsey h Yes, yes, exactly. Hey, I don't know

(01:02:28):
how much of this Syracuse Clemson gave you've been watching.
It's been good. It's a tale of I was gonna
say until of two different halfs, but it's just a
tale of a different quarter. Clemson has scored fourteen seventeen points.
I'm sorry. In the fourth quarter right now, they're kicker
beat Te Potter scored a forty four yard field goal

(01:02:48):
to put the Tigers up by six. So we have
ninety seconds to go in the game. Syracuse has to
score a touchdown in order to tie the game, hit
the extra point in order to win. So right now,
ninety seconds to go. Clemson is up twenty seven to
twenty one on Syricus. After being down by eleven points
early in the game, they benched their starting quarterback, DJ.

(01:03:09):
Did I say that right? For true freshman kids? Love Nick?
Thank you, thank you, thank you. They put a true
freshman kve club Nick, and it's been a completely different
story since then. Uh, Tennessee has been all over you.
T Martin the entire game. I mean sixty five points.

(01:03:32):
What sixty five points they've scored and there's still eight
minutes to go in the game, so I'm only gonna
assume they're gonna score again. You T Martin does have
twenty one points. At least they didn't get shut out.
But sixty five points number twenty one, Cincinnati holding onto
their lead over s M. You. There's still three and
a half minutes to go in the game and Cincinnati
is up twenty nine to one. One game already in

(01:03:53):
the books. Ohio State exploded in the second half. Exploded.
I'm sorry, Iowa, Sam. They scored twenty eight points in
the second half. The final score, which didn't start like
this over Iowa fifty four to ten. Yeah it didn't.
Wasn't like that, but that's how it ended. Iowa actually
had the lead in this game, if you can believe it.

(01:04:14):
It was seven to three with like three minutes gone
by in the first quarter. By the way, talk, I'm
gonna do some quick math here. I think something continue on.
I have some I got a math project I'm doing here. Okay, alright,
buck guys. Quarterback c J. Stroud. He completed twenty of

(01:04:35):
thirty passes for two six yards and four touchdowns. And
we still got a lot of college football that's gonna
start any minute now, so be sure to stay tuned
with us. In NFL news, of course, we we've heard already,
but Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson will not play tomorrow against
the Jets. Frett Rippon will start instead. Denver World will
reevaluate Wilson's hamstring injury later this week. They're gonna determine

(01:04:57):
whether or not he can play Sunday in London against
the ja Wars, and the Commanders have placed quarterback Carson
went on the injured reserve, so he's gonna miss at
least four games. Some good news and bad news for
Packers fans. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been taken off
the injured reserve list, but wide receiver Randall Cobb has
been added to it. Sammy Watkins is expected to play
tomorrow against the Commanders, but he's likely to be limited.

(01:05:19):
We've got two games in the MLB postseason today, Game
three of the ALCS between the Astros and the Yankees.
The first pitch is set for five or seven pm
eas certain time on TBS Garrett Cole is gonna be
on the mound for New York. Gristian Javier will start
for Houston. Leads the series to and oh. The last
time he pitched at Yankee Stadium, Caristan Javier, he pitched
seven innings and struck out thirteen in the Astros combined

(01:05:40):
no hitter. So I'm hoping that's not what he does today.
Game four of the NLCS between the Podgers and the Phillies.
That game is set for seven forty five p m. E.
Certain time. You can catch that one on Fox. Mike
Clevinger will be on the mound for San Diego. Bailey
Falter will start for Philadelphia. They lead the series to
to one. Back to you, Joe, job, well done there by.

(01:06:02):
Monty belongs, the great Monty belongs, by the way, I
did a together a little bit of math here, alright,
So here's the math. So Tennessee obviously up sixty five
one over you. T Martin. Tennessee just today has only
scored thirty three less points than Iowa has scored all year. Sam,

(01:06:29):
They've got ninety eight points on the season. They can't
do this math, Yeah, no, I mean yeah, it doesn't
mean anything to me. That was rude for you to
point that out right now, that that was rude. You
could have sent him a text instead of it's fine. Fine,
you do these hard math equations music. But you know

(01:06:54):
what they still I mean, their defense shows up, you know,
I mean, there's that from time to time. So there,
def it's cave today. Yeah, oh man, So so there
it is. But thoughts and prayers to anybody who has
the over and any Iowa game for the rest of time.
Let's say a bad bet. It's over. It is finally
over now, all right, So you can, by the way,

(01:07:18):
hang out with us as always on the I Heart
Radio app as we come be Alive from the tire
rack dot Com studios. We also are going to have
the scraps coming up here. We'll call it about twelve
minutes from now here on Fox Sports Radio. Um, if
you would like to go, uh now, A lot of
people like when I retweet the insults that come into
this show, and somebody sent one in that's actually so

(01:07:40):
bad I can't read it on the air. So if
you would like to see what this person has sent in,
and I'm you know, I'm assuming it's a person, could
be a bot, who the hell knows. But if you
would like to see just the grotesque language that is
used on social media from huge fans of this show,
go to my Twitter account at the Jonas Knocks. You
don't have to follow me. I don't care about that.

(01:08:00):
I said, don't care. I don't have a blue check mark.
Means nothing to me, So you don't have to follow me,
but you can go check out the insult. I've retweeted
it at the Jonas Knox on Twitter, at the Jonas
Knox on Twitter. Uh, something so egregious. I can't even
read it on the air. Yeah, he definitely did it
is uh yeah, it doesn't Uh oh man. Uh. People

(01:08:24):
are savages. Man, people are just savages sometimes. All right,
So let's get into this, like there's so sometimes you know,
people will throw out the quarterback controversies, all right, so
we'll get all that that conversation thrown out there. And
we've had a few of those pop up throughout the
course of the NFL season so far. Um, you know,

(01:08:44):
I mean, look, obviously we talked about Dallas whatever made
up quarterback controversy that was that Jerry Jones started when
it was Dak Prescott and Cooper rush that was floated
out there. I mean you've you've you've seen the Jimmy
Garoppolo Trey Lance stuff that took place. Obviously, Alans gets
injured and the season over and Jimmy Garoppolo takes over.
But you've seen quarterback controversies that have been out there

(01:09:07):
and and people that have really tried to to to
stir that stuff up. I remember years ago when Marcus
Mariotta signed with the Raiders, a lot of people thought like,
Oh my god, could he push Derek Carr for his
starting job? Is he going to get what happened? Does
Derek Carr gonna have happened to him what Mariotta had
happened to him in Tennessee when Ryan Tannehill took over. Like,
we see these quarterback controversies pop up, Ken he pick it,

(01:09:29):
Mitch Rabinski, all of this stuff. We see this stuff happen,
you know, all the time in the world of football. Well,
there's one that has kind of made the rounds a
little bit that people have done similar to what they did.
If you were a naysayer on the Cowboys quarterback controversy
like I was, and it's New England. Mac Jones is

(01:09:50):
expected back for the Patriots. They're playing on Monday Night
Football against the Bears, and mac Jones has been dealing
with the ankle injury and now he's back, and Bailey's
Appy has played well while mac Jones has been out,
and there were some people that kind of threw out that, well,
you know, maybe there's the potential that Bailey's Appy could

(01:10:11):
could take this job from mac Jones if mac Jones
turns the ball over some more, continues to struggle, or
whatever the case may be. And a lot of there
I saw people in the media kind of dismiss it
and say, no, no, no, mac Jones is the starting quarterback,
it's Bailey's Appy. What are we even talking about here?
This is this is nonsense. This is like the Dak

(01:10:32):
Prescott thing, and I don't think it is for a
couple of reasons. Number One, Dak Prescott got paid, So
from a business standpoint, it wouldn't have made sense for
Jerry Jones to go back on his investment and start
Cooper Rush, all right, So just from from that standpoint alone,
Dak Prescott got paid. Mac Jones is still on a

(01:10:53):
rookie deal, So the financial investment is not there to
just dismiss the potential old of Bailey's appy taken over
the job just from a money standpoint, It doesn't make sense.
But here's why I am more ready to buy into
a potential quarterback controversy in New England than anywhere else

(01:11:14):
Bill Belichick, because if there's one coach who does things
out of the box, it's Belichick, especially with his roster.
I mean, go back to when Tom Brady was named
starter in New England. People forget this part. They had
just given Drew Bledsoe a one million dollar contract, Belichick

(01:11:37):
signed off on the deal. Blood so just got a
contract extension, and still they made Tom Brady the starter.
I mean, go back and look at some of the
other moves that he's made with his roster, I mean,
legendary players on the Patriots. Even look at Brady's time
in New England when it ended like all these guys

(01:11:58):
that helped him win a bunch of Super Bowls. Do
you think Bill Belichick is gonna show some sort of
loyalty to Mac Jones after seeing what he's done with
his roster and great players over the course of his career.
Christ we're talking about the same guy who cut a
guy released him the night before the Super Bowl, Like

(01:12:21):
I mean the night before the biggest game of this
guy's career, and Belichick cut him. Malcolm Butler helped win
a Super Bowl ice a Super Bowl for Belichick against
the Seahawks, and Belichick one year hardly played him against
Philadelphia in a game where they couldn't stop anybody, and
still Belichick didn't play him. Now why that was the case,

(01:12:44):
We've still never gotten a clear answer. Right. Whether Malcolm
Butler went out too late one night, Who the hell knows.
Belichick made the decision. It was a head scratcher. Nobody
could figure it out, but it's what he did. So
when you see that track record of ballsy moves, of
unpopular moves, of moves where he dismisses loyalty and takes

(01:13:06):
all the heart out of it and is strictly doing
it from a coach standpoint, when you see all of
that for twenty plus years at a Bill Belichick the
idea that you can scoff at any sort of position
change or quarterback controversy, especially when a guy comes in
and plays good like Bailey's happy did I don't know, man,
I don't look at this like the Dallas made up

(01:13:28):
quarterback controversy. I think if there's one place to pay
attention to this, I think it's the New England Patriots.
And if Mac Jones struggles on Monday Night against a
Bears defense, it's a lot better than a lot of
people give him credit for. I think we absolutely could
see this spark up again with the Patriots. Jonas Knocks
Fox Sports Radio, get me on Twitter, at the Jonas
Knocks at the Jonas Knocks on Twitter, and you can

(01:13:49):
hang out with us. Is always on the I Heart

from Salam. Steve Hartman will be on the air coming
up top the next hour a little over ten minutes
from now here. I'm not gonna say this again, Sam,
have you from his intro. Already, you're pissing me off.
It's never ready, it's never on time. I'm tired of Steve.
Steve Hartman has to literally get out of his chair

(01:14:30):
to come into the studio to remind Sam to do
his job. I'm sick of it. Last week Steve actually
had to come in here and played himself. Yeah, and
then he did the show from my seat and I
just left for the day. Yeah, it's pretty crazy. And
he was running around and his hair still didn't move,
didn't move. Yeah, it's just it's it's an amazing thing
that Steve Harmon. So those guys will be coming up
are always a good listen here a little over ten

(01:14:51):
minutes from now, By the way, for you UFC fans
out there, Sean O'Malley has just won a split decision
over Pure to jan Uh at a UFC two eighty Uh.
This is uh over in Dubai and UH. If you're wondering,
why is there a UFC event going on right now,
I'm not quite sure. I'm not quite sure. They decided
eleven a m. Pacific time was the best time to

(01:15:12):
throw on one of the best UFC cards of the year,
but nonetheless. Uh that is that is where we're at here.
Uh so the the UFC two eight event currently currently
ongoing Sean O'Malley one of the rising stars of the sport,
where they win at UFC two E d over at
did I say Dubai Abu Dhabi? My apologies, my apologies,
so clean that up on the podcast. Want to make

(01:15:34):
sure this is a perfect squeaky clean show here on
FS are all right right now though, it is time
for this, Jonas, How could you not get to these
stories are the scraps? And for that we turn it
over to the great Danny G to find out what
the hell we missed? Danny, alright, this first headline twenty

(01:15:55):
eight year old former All Pro running back definitely done
playing football Former ramstar Todd Gurley. He's only twenty eight.
As I mentioned, he's not officially retired, Jonas, but he
said during an NFL Network interview that he has done
playing football. What a crazy career, man. He's only twenty
eight years old and he has and been done for

(01:16:18):
a while. That is bananas. He was so good. I
feel bad from he almost he was good before the
Rams got good. Dude. I loved watching him at Georgia.
Oh my god, he was awesome. I look, I've told
this story before. I saw a South Carolina Georgia game
in Columbia, South Carolina, and I went with my girlfriend

(01:16:39):
at the time. Now, never mind the fact that we
had a rental car and we blew a tire trying
to get to the game. That was fun trying to
find someplace to get the tire repaired. I mean, listen,
that's when you need ti irac dot com. That right
there is when you need tire rack dot com. They
could have directed me where to go and help me out,
but but we had to like fix our tire. We
get to the game and Todd Gurley is playing for

(01:17:00):
Georgia and he was the best player on the field
and it wasn't even close. It looked like he was
playing with kids. Like unbelievable Georgia, unbelievable start to his career.
Offensive Player of the Year, got a big contract from
the Rams, and it was all gone, literally just gone.
And it's crazy. And that's why whenever, especially running backs,

(01:17:21):
whenever those guys get paid, I'm always happy for him.
And I don't care if they melt down afterwards. Just
the damage that that their body endures throughout the course
of their career, going back to college youth football. All
of that. Good for him, at least he got paid.
But damn, twenty eight years old and he's gone. That's it,
out of the league. Unbelievable. What else do we got?

(01:17:42):
All right to the Major League Baseball Playoffs? You didn't
have time to talk about the Phillies. They won pivotal
NLCS Game three behind Sagura's clutch hit. Schwarber hit a
leadoff homer, and uh, the Padres, what did you make
of pro far on that non checks wing check swing?
But what a terrible call. Look, I mean, man, and

(01:18:06):
I don't blame him for being pissed, And it's not
what costs the Padres the game. I mean, they went
down and they tried to battle back, and you know
they just listen, Philly won the game. And this does
feel like a seven game series. But if you're just
you're watching that at bat and you see Jerkson profile
lose his mind and then you see the replay over

(01:18:26):
again in that moment, like what are you doing making
that call? Like like I in real time, it looked
like he didn't go around And then you watch the
replay over again, like, jeez, man, like, how is that?
Like We've seen much more egregious swings to where guys
have been given. You know, the free pass at ay, No,
it didn't go around, that's a ball. No, no swing there,

(01:18:49):
and then you see how that played out. There was
a minor league er where they did you see this
Danny where they implemented replay on a bad pitch. The
guy tapped his helmet. It was I think it was
like in an a fall Leach h Yeah, like the
I think it was a Yankees minor leaguer tapped his helmet.
They went to the big screen. They showed the the
k zone and it showed that that the ball was

(01:19:10):
low and it was ruled and and and so the
strike that he endured, he tapped his helmet. They replayed it,
it was called the ball and they moved on. It
was quick. I don't know why they don't do that
for some of these games. All right, what else we got? Alright?
Something silly to take us home? Here the headline to
California bakers create a life size Hans solo out of
bread this bakery and Benicia, California six ft Han solo

(01:19:35):
out of sour dough. Yeah, but well, I mean it's appropriate. Yeah,
I'm not. Uh, but if you've got enough time to
make a Han solo bread, you deserve to be solo,
son of a bit,
