back from San Diego State Number A from Salam. You
know I love e from but he he became a
a lifesaver for me today. So never question my commitment

(00:45):
to college football. I just met the entire week in
South Bend, Indiana that I flew all day Monday to
get there. I was there Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. I
was camped out in the Hesburg Library, which is in
the middle of the campus, and it has an archive

(01:05):
of college football guides that are unmatching the country, not
even the College Football Hall of Fame. That's where I
was camped for twenty eight hours of research over a
four day span. And I actually walked out of there
with a question that only Ephraim could have answered about
his teammate. The all American at San Diego State. Great

(01:28):
NFL player as well, Kyle Turley. And you answer my
question just like that. I mean, I didn't have to
be in you know, the halls of college football history.
Answer the question. I'm I'm walking, uh book of knowledge?
You are? You see that? That's the only photo I
took right there? Touchdown. It's seeing that a nice fall day.

(01:51):
There a little misty, little rain there on the Notre
Dame campus in Indiana. He got all the leaves falling,
the little seasonal action. I know Iowa. Sam was anxious
to see what the fall looks like in his UH
home region there in the Midwest. It was absolutely beautiful,
great time out there. Uh. Notre Dame is on the road,
came up with a big win today on the road

(02:12):
against Syracuse. They look very good, by by far the
best games so far this year, being in the sixteenth
ranked team in the country. So we have a big
day in college football lined up and a couple of
games going on right now. We got Georgia number one
at home against Florida, off to a seven nothing lead.
By the way, quick note here about Georgia, their longtime

(02:32):
coach Vince Dooley passed away. As a matter of fact,
I saw him and briefly talked to him at the
College Football Hall of Fame ceremonies last December in Las Vegas.
He was there. Uh. You talked about a guy synonymous
with college football, Vince Dooley was certainly that, And of

(02:53):
course he had his greatest glory when a certain guy
named herschel Walker was his running back. They lost two
games in three years with herschel Walker dominating, and he
passed away at the age of ninety. What herschel Walker
is doing now, Well, he's trying to find another line
of work, is what he's trying to find. He's gonna

(03:14):
find out whether he's going to get that job in
a couple of weeks. Um Cal is taken on Oregon
Oregon coming up their big win against u c l
A Cal off to an early three nothing lead. Do
not expect that lead to hold up. So we got
a lot of college football today, but we also have
plenty of NFL football we're gonna get to as well
over the course of the show today. Adam Kaplan is

(03:36):
going to join us a little bit later on our
Fox Sports Radio NFL Inside are plenty of stories to
get to. But just just right now. We went into
this week here e from with six undefeated teams, So
we've been talking about this all season long, sort of
narrowing the list. So the six unbeaten teams coming into today,

(03:56):
Georgia Ohio State, who has already won a big game
against Penn Stay will talk about that in a moment.
Tennessee Michigan both playing on later on today, Clemson and
tcu UM. So have have we separated the pack right now?
Are we getting to that point of the season as
we head to the back stretch where we see a
little more separation on the haves and they have not well,

(04:19):
you know the term when the rubber hits the road,
right that means there's no more games to be played,
no more fooling around. Can't lose a game. You lose
a game at this point in the season, your chances
of making the college football playoffs diminished greatly. This is
the meat of the conference games. You know, when you

(04:42):
look at the top conferences, a lot of the your
opponents are ranked now, they're they're they're jockeying for position.
You're going to see, you know, these teams in the
top ten starting to eat themselves. And that's the great
thing about out this time a year, moving into you know, November,

(05:06):
early December, teams start to separate themselves and less and
less unbeaten, and you really get a clear picture of
who the top four teams in the league are. And
that starts now. And so this is an exciting time
for college football because it's you know, it's it's okay,

(05:30):
who do we start picking to represent? Now? Alabama? They
have a loss, can they call they were back? Yes? Right,
if you lose early enough, you have time to call
yourself back. And that's the catch two. Right, you lose early,
it's like, okay, we can put a string a run together,

(05:53):
get back in the mentions. But if you lose late
around now, now you know other teams are are leap
frogging you, and you may find yourself on the outside
looking at you know, walking around the Notre Dame campus,
so much history obviously, and you walk by the stadium.

(06:14):
You did not have a university where he had an
on campus stadium nearby, but not on campus. I know
my u c l A. Bruins traveling out to the
Rose Bowl has been a painting the you know what UM,
and of course for years they also had I traveled
to the coliseum. But when you're walking on the Notre
Dame campus and there's Notre Dame Stadium right on the

(06:37):
campus and there's a statue of New Rockney out there
out front. Man oh man, I mean that is like
I like, I recognize the NFL is the best, the best.
Simple as that. If you play in the NFL, as
you did he from for thirteen seasons, you played at
the highest level can possibly play this game of football.

(07:00):
But there is something about the college game. There's something
about the tradition. Yes, the players changed constantly. We talked
about evistruantly. He was the head coach at Georgia for
twenty five years. You have a lot of longtime coaches,
you know earlier Today's Subpenn State, Joe Paul those years,
you know, Florida State with Bobby about and I mean
there's a lot of coaches, uh that coach a long time.

(07:20):
But the tradition, there's something about the college game. And
I know you have great memories from your years at
Sandygon State UM. In fact, I saw your cover right there,
that Sandy State media guy going into your senior year,
top five top with a fifth ranked off intove line
in the country. Where where do you have that? Media guy? Yeah?

(07:41):
Have you you have like a framed of it? You know,
you know it's there, you know as you towered over
your fellow linemates there. But I mean, they're just something
about it that I was only reinforced for me as
I was walking around that incredible campus of Notre Dame.
I have to admit I hate Notre Dame football. Dad.

(08:02):
I went to USC, I went to u c l A.
Not a love for Notre Dame, but just the tradition
of the game when you think about it, Notre Dame
is certainly that. And they got a big win today
against Syracuse. Uh. The game that we already had today
is that Ohio State game and Penn State at home
hundred five thousand. Clifford, who has been the quarterback at
Penn State, I think since Joe Paul was there. This

(08:24):
is actually a sixth year senior quarterback. He was playing well,
they got the lead and then all of a sudden,
I remember I was thinking to myself, well, could C. J.
Strouds Heisman candidacy being jeopardy and guess what he came
up big. Ohio State came up big, Blitzkrieg and Happy
Valley in the fourth quarter in Ohio State emerges with

(08:46):
the victory. Now, watching that game, there was a moment
to me that Penn State lost their momentum. And I
believe the school was thirteen and fourteen, uh Penn State,
and they had the ball and they were in scoring
position and it was a third or fourth and two,

(09:11):
and instead of kicking the field goal going up seventeen
to thirteen, they decided to go for with the worst
car you possibly could. When Ohio State had twelve eleven
guys on the line of scrimmage, essentially knowing exactly what
Penn State was gonna do, they hand the ball off,
they get stopped two yards in the back field. To me,

(09:34):
that was the shift in the game, because here you are,
you're battling, you're ahead, you have an opportunity to put
points on the board to just energize that crowd, and
as a coach, you decide to completely just sever your momentum.

(09:59):
And I was thinking in my head, I said, okay,
looks say they get the first down and then they
don't get another one. Then they settled for field goal. Anyway,
what is the difference? These are the when you're talking
about when people were talking about analytics and what it's
doing to the game. This this is one of those situations.

(10:21):
Sometimes it's bigger than the numbers. Sometimes it's a feeling.
Sometimes it's looking around at a hundred thousand. It was
the white out, so everybody was wearing white a hundred
thousand students and fans and alumni and saying, we have
the number two ranked team in the country on the
ropes at home. We're just going, no matter how many,

(10:43):
we're gonna get points every trip down if we can.
Instead of doing that, you decide to do something. The
literally hands the momentum back to Ohio State, and that's
why I think they lost their their edge and their
footing in that game. Yeah, in Ohio State was a
blood screen in that fourth quarter. So they come away
with the victory, still undefeated, the number two ranked team

(11:04):
in the country. All right, Well, keep you updated throughout
the show, obviously on what's happening on the college football scene.
We also take a look around the NFL and the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady are in trouble. Evon's
been talking about why we have an update coming up next.

(12:15):
Henderson going left side behind Ross. He's blocking into the
end zone. Treviean Henderson seven yard touchdown run. That's Paul
Kills liar Field right there, as Ohio State comes from
behind and winds going away over Penn State four to
thirty one. Once again, we are live from the tire

(12:35):
IRAQ dot com studios, and we got plenty of football
going on today, as we got Georgia now off to
a fourteen nothing lead over Florida Cal still hanging on
to a early three nothing lead against Oregon. They've actually
come to the end of the first quarter. Where's Oregon's
offense so far? Kansas State with a fourteen nothing lead

(12:57):
at home against number nine Oaklaw Home Estate, and Sam
Hartman and wake Forest tenth rank in the country, down
thirteen nothing on the road to Louisville. So we got
some upsets brewing around the college football scene today. All right,
once again, h Yeah, last week, if you missed our show,

(13:19):
we had a number of guests that day, and every
guest we had on that day we're pressed by this
guy E from salam about everything that was wrong with
Tom Brady and all of a suddenly from tack on
yet another loss, as the Buccaneers are now three and five.

(13:41):
Tom Brady is not the same quarterback that we have
seen for twenty years. You know the numbers three five
yards a touchdown, note Picks. I'm telling you, eyeball test
he's not the same quarterback. Now. They talk about a
rebuilt offensive line and he's missing weapons and they don't
have much of a running game. But also it was

(14:04):
officially analysis week than he and his wife of thirteen
years officially have filed for divorce. So what do you
think is going on right now in that Tampa Bay
Buccaneers locker room surrounding the goat Tom Brady and how

(14:27):
or if they can turn things around this season? So look,
I kept saying, and this started in training camp. I
kept saying that to play football at this level, which
Tom Brady knows, I mean he's played. He's an old man,

(14:47):
you know, by normal standards, right, not his football standards.
He's actually your age. Yes, Yes, I'm one year older
than him. Yes, And I've been retired for or twenty years.
So when you look at Tom Brady and the things

(15:10):
that he's decided to do this year leading up to
the season, retires two months later, he comes back training camp.
Eleven days in the middle of training camp, he decides
to leave for whatever reason outside of terminally ill death, uh,
pregnancy issues, whatever. I don't I don't see a reason why.

(15:34):
You know, family vacations and previous engagements don't mount to
anything in terms of being all in on football, which
he has been. He's been, He's been for nineteen years,
and so just those actions alone led me to believe
that he was one ft in, one ft out. Tom

(15:55):
Brady knows to play at this level. You can't be
one ft in, one ft out at any point in
your career. He's made it a point to be all in,
which is why there is some contention at home. All
in so much so that you promised your significant other

(16:18):
that last year was your last one. We can go
on with our lives now, because football takes up all
the air in the room. It does, and so when
he renegged on that, there's trouble of brewing. He tried
to appease it by keeping whatever appointments they had or
whatever family maycare, whatever they did those eleven days during
training camp. And then you get to the season and

(16:41):
he misses a walkthrough and and and the team flight
to go to his friend's wedding. That's one ft in,
one ft out. You can't play this game at this
level and expect success being like that. And people were like, oh, well,
tom Brady's earned the right to do that. Tom Brady
is the goat. He's done this, he's done that has
nothing to do with it. It's interesting we have this

(17:05):
list here at the Fox Sports radio studios with all
the hosts and producers and everybody else, and we make
predictions before the season begins in the NFL, who's gonna
be in the super Bowl, who's going to be the
m v P. And then we have this little thing
that says crazy prediction for the season, something completely off
the wall. Do you think is gonna happen? My off

(17:26):
the wall? And you can read it in there is
Tom Brady will retire before this season is over. That
was before the season began. I don't know about him
actually retiring before the season, but if things get any worse,
and you look at Tampa Bay. So right now, they've
lost three in a row, they've lost five of their
last six. Even they've only had one game in which

(17:49):
they have scored over twenty two points this year in
the game, and that was that loss to the Chiefs.
They have home games coming up against the Rams, and
the Seahawks, certainly in the Rams are not a walk
over by any stretch of the imagination. The Seahawks are
a much better team. In fact, that was a team
I predicted would have the worst record in the NFL.
I was very wrong about that. Pete Carroll and company

(18:11):
Gino Smith have done a pretty good job. But I mean,
if this really goes off the rails, any chance of
my prediction could actually come true where he just decides.
You know what, I made a mistake coming back this year.
I should have retired when I said I was gonna retired,
but I couldn't imagine he had. He was, you know,

(18:31):
runner up for m v P last year, behind Aaron Rodgers.
He led the league in just about every statistical category, attempts, yards, touchdowns,
everything else. He was at the top of the list.
There was no sign. But we said it before at
that quarterback position. You saw what Brett farm you saw
with Peyton Manning. We've seen a time and time again,

(18:52):
even those that seemingly can play forever there they hit
the wall. It ends the cliff. The wall as a cliff.
This is Tom Brady's last year. Are we all clear
on that? Well, I'm not so sure on that anymore.
You know why, because now that there there's nothing to

(19:12):
draw him back away from football, right, he can compartmentalize
his issues. This year two had everything going on at home.
Next year, I won't have those distractions. I'll be more
focused and be ready to go. I don't want to
end on a year like Tom Brady couldn't walk away

(19:35):
from his story career losing in the playoffs to the
Rams last year. He couldn't do it. But you wait, wait,
so you mean to tell me he's going to walk
away from football on a losing season. He's only coming
back from think about this. All his years in New England,

(19:55):
after winning the Super Bowls first year as a starter,
there wasn't a single sea is in New England where
he didn't go into the year with the mindset of
we have a team that can win the super Bowl.
Every year he was in New England, and then he
went to Tampa with something to prove and immediately won
the Super Bowl knowing the next year everyone was back

(20:17):
on the roster, so he knew going in last year,
we can win the Super Bowl. I'm not so sure, however,
this season ends in Tampa, that he would come back
to a team unless he's a percent sure that he
had a chance to win a super Bowl. And if
he's not convinced that Tampa can win a super Bowl,

(20:37):
what team is going to take a flyer on a
forty six year old quarterback New Year. It's some terrible
quarterback play out there. You know the line of teams,
but a team I talked about, a team that is
deemed a Super Bowl contender, and all they're missing is
a quarter backs heartbeat. If the Jets finished quarterback ends

(21:00):
Ack Wilson, don't know who that is? The Giants will?
You know? You need Neither one of those teams are
in love with these two quarterbacks. The Jets the Giants,
they're just they're just the culture has changed and they're
playing out of there and they're real teams now that
The one team that's obvious to me is forty Niners.
Of course, because if jim M Garoppolo doesn't cut it
this year, he's gone anyway because he's a free agent.

(21:22):
Trey Lance, who knows? Right you talking about? Who knows?
Just like Zach Wilson. But we know the forty Niners
roster is good enough to win a Super Bowl if
they come up short and the difference is subpar play
by Jimmy Garoppolo coming home to the Bay Area, I
mean that would be Tom Brady's dream, right, come back
to San Francisco one year where the forty Niners win

(21:45):
a super Bowl. I don't think he's coming back at
Tampa Bay. This team, for whatever reason, doesn't seem all
that interested. I mean, coming off that embarrassment a week
ago and then playing like they did. I mean, the
Ravens are a good team, but you don't lose that
game at home, not after Tom Brady has called you

(22:05):
guys out, and yet they did. So his message doesn't
seem to be registering at all. Right now, you know
why because there are guys in that locker room who
have never played with Tom Brady, and his lack of
commitment is prevalent to those guys. Some of those guys

(22:27):
will always time he gets to do what he wants
to do, Oh, we get it, and he wants us
a super Bowl. But there's a lot of those guys
in the locker room who didn't get to experience winning
with Tom Brady. That was there, Evans was there going.
It's the offensive line on what I'm saying is if
you have a person who's supposed to be your leader
and they're doing things selfishly for themselves off the field,

(22:50):
that affects what's happening on the field. In other words,
training camp, practice flights. Then there's a disconnect there. They
didn't They haven't experienced the great Tom Brady. They get
this guy who seems that he's he has other pressing
things to do other than be uh entrenched in in

(23:11):
in in building their season. You get what I'm saying.
It's it's easy, it's easy, it's not hard. Well, they're
not listening right now because he called them out, and
you would have thought they would come back with a
big game against the Ravens. Did not happen. The Buccaneers
are three and five, having lost five of their last
six games. Very tom Brady like. By the way, the

Bryan Finley in the house from Good to chat with

(23:55):
you guys on this Saturday, Yes, busy day today that
it is, and State head coach James Franklin. You know
that whole narrative around tip now winning the big game,
Well that's not gonna change after today, guys. He is
two and fifteen against top ten teams. He is one
in ten against top five teams. Walle at Penn State.
And if you get where I'm going with this, his

(24:17):
his team, the number thirteen Nitty Lines lost at home
and they gave up twenty eight points in the fourth
quarter today on the way to a loss to number
two Ohio State forty four to thirty one. Any Alliance
quarterback Sean Clifford, responsible for three turnovers, had that key
fumble late and Ohio State led to a bunch of
scores after that and they went on to win convincingly.

(24:39):
And now jomp I had to eight and oh on
this season. Number seven TCU Powers passed West Virginia forty
one to thirty one, while Notre Dame gets a win
on the road against number sixteen Syracuse forty one to
twenty four, as the Ques dropped their first l at home.
As far as games in progress right now, including number

(24:59):
one on Georgia, they are just putting it on Florida
in Athens. Steps in the game along with Powers in Washington.
Give it to mcintoshi, drives in straight. We try to
push him with Washington, push him in the end zone.
Touchdown Georgia, Georgia Radio Network. This one is turning into
a laugh for so far. Twenty one to nothing Bulldogs

(25:20):
early stages of the second quarter against Florida, while number
eight Oregon has a touchdown and they're trailing Kel at
Kel ten to seven with the Ducks number eight in
the country. They are four and now in the pact twelve.
That one is just a couple of minutes into the
second quarter in a game that can be seen on
FS one, a game that Kimmy witnessed on Fox Television.

(25:42):
Has number twenty two Ken State Kansas State in front
of number nine Oklahoma State, yet twenty nine to nothing
early in the second quarter. Philip Brooks just hauled in
a touchdown catch for the Wildcats here in the second
quarter to increasingly to three scores. Steve Hartman's long lost
relative Sam Hartburn, the quarterback four number ten a week forests.

(26:05):
So far his deeks are down at Louisville. Thirteen is
seven and that one's in the second quarter. Some news
in the NFL. We want to mention before we do, though,
how about this? Gotta get this In Miami and Virginia,
they played into a fourth overtime today. Miami wins fourteen
and twelve and there were not a single touchdown scored

(26:27):
and the game began with ten punts. Imagine being at
that game. Yeah, that took on a life of its own.
Speaking of the NFL, Titans, quarterback Malik Willis is gonna
be getting his starting debut ready to go for this
weekend after the rookie quarterback learned that the original incumbent
starter and Ryan Tannehill is dealing with an illness and

(26:49):
he was not able to participate today. In today's walk through,
Titans or excuse me, Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is
out Sunday against the Titans due to a groid injury.
Bengals water sever Jamaar Chase is out this week with
a hip injury, but they're not gonna put him on
injured reserve in the hopes that they get him back
in less than four weeks time. And finally from in Steve,

(27:10):
Cowboys tagging the doubtful status to running back Ezekiel Elliott
on Sunday as they continue to play and hope to
get a win with that. Let's get it back to
eat from salam and Steve Hartman, let me ask you
about that Miami Virginia games. So the game ended six
six regularation. Both teams had two field goals. In the overtime,

(27:34):
Miami outscored Virginia eight to six, so I'm guessing that
neither team was able to score, and then they have
two point versions at that point. Once you get to
what is it, the third overtime, it goes to two
point conversions. Only that looks like a lot of two conversions.
Eight to six, uh in four overtimes. So hardly a

(27:58):
game to write home about. Yes, Iowa sam Um, Well,
Miami's had a strange year. I mean, did you see
what happened to them last week? They had eight turnovers,
Duke lost, I think, and then you have this strange game.
It's been a it's been an unusual first year for
Mario Cristobal. Yeah, is the you ever gonna come back
to prominence? Yes? I think so. I think he's very

(28:21):
very solid coach, but this year has just been very strange.
Maybe he's trying to get the culture at the WIT
to where he wants. I mean, we are a long
time removed from the days of Florida State. Florida and
the you were dominating, dominating for twenty years. They were
like the dominant schools in college football, and those days
are long gone. By the way, Welcome to the Fox

so every once in a while, I'm not much of

(29:05):
a gambler. Are you much of a gambler? Do you
like to wager on games? Um? I don't. I don't
gamble like that. No, I don't. I'm not a gambler.
Gamble with life, Steve, I know, every day is a
gamble in life. So I'm looking at some of the
NFL odds tomorrow and I'm looking at one game, and
I'm like, am I missing something here? So the Patriots

(29:30):
on Monday Night at home got embarrassed by the Chicago Bears.
I mean Justin Fields and Company put up thirty three
on the road against New England. That was Monday night.
So the Patriots fall the three and four. They have
a short week, having played Monday night. They're on the

(29:53):
road against the five and two Jets. The line on
the game is New England is favored by two and
a half. It makes zero sense to me. How is
New England favored on the road in a short week
against the New York Jets. Five and two is five

(30:13):
and two? You may say, well, the Jets and the Jets,
I don't care what the Jets did a year ago.
Robert Sale is uh, finally putting some piece together, playing
some good football right now? How is New England favored
in that game? I think the Jets. The Jets do
struggle at home. The two losses have come at home,

(30:33):
so maybe that's, you know, that's the edge. I know
people aren't believing in the Jets yet. Um, which is
you know it's another reason why? Okay, well it's belichicking.
You know the Jets of four and oh right now?
They the last four games, yeah, including at the Steelers,

(30:54):
at the Packers, at the Broncos beat the Dolphins at home.
I don't get it. No, I would take the Jets
all day. And that it's just the culture shifting and
and I think that's the thing that takes the longest
to understand. When you shift the culture, only the people
in the locker room understand what's happening. I've been on

(31:14):
a team like that. We talked about it all the time.
Fourteen and two Atlanta Falcons. Nobody saw us coming, nobody
gave us credit. It's a lot of those games where
we weren't favorite in but the culture had shifted and
changed in that locker room. Chris Chandler was a you know,
a yeoman quarterback from here to there would get hurt
and this and that. Jamal Anderson was a six round

(31:36):
draft pick running back. Nobody knew who he was, and
then he had a hodgepodge of of of guys on
the offensive line. Carnelius been at Chuck Smith, guys on
the defense, and throwaways from other teams. But we came
together in that locker room and decided that that year
was going to be special for us. I see that
same type of thing similar to what UH Cincinnati did
last year. I see that same type of thing with

(31:59):
what's going on in New York on both teams and
it and it starts with leadership. I remember that year
Dan Reeves had a heart attack and he had open
heart surgery. That really galvanized us, That really made us,
you know, solidify what we were trying to do. We're
trying to accomplish something great, something that you know, the
Atlanta Falcons had never done, and we end up doing that,

(32:19):
won the NFC and you know, things changing, the Super Bowl.
But we put together a tremendous year. And I see
that type of of of of chemistry going on with
the Jets and the Giants, but people won't be able
to see that because they're on the outside. Eleven and
three the Giants and Jets combine. Hey man, I mean,

(32:40):
if you're talking about what has been these stories so
far in the National Football leg I know, Ego fans
will say it's an undefeated team. It's not the story.
The story is the Giants and the Jets are combined
eleven and three this season and a d the Giants
six and one, undefeated on the road, go to Seattle

(33:04):
and they're an underdog. No respect, no respect for these
two teams. I'm anxious to get an update a little
bit later on when Adam Kaplan joins us about those
two teams. All right, we're gonna get back to college
football here in a moment. Update on everything going on
with the scoreboard today and the team's ranked number one, Georgia.

(33:28):
What are the chances of them winning back to back
national championships? Is it in the cards? We'll break it
down coming up next. Steve Hartmanny from Salam This is

as we head toward the month of November, critical time
in terms of who is gonna come away with the

(34:33):
biggest prize individually in college football, that being the Heisman Trophy.
I have a vote. I don't like to talk about
it a lot, but once in a while I do
mention I have a Heisman vote. So each week I
want to update you on where I stand in my
Heisman vote. Here is my current number three. The video

(34:55):
fakes the brown Now he's gonna throw back to Brownie.
So where we got it? Twenty ten five touchdown, forty yards,
Chase Crown wide open. He caught a touchdown pass on
the second play of a year. That's Ryan Barnhart from Liarfield.
Chase Brown, Illinois running back. By the way right now,

(35:17):
Illinois on the road against Nebraska, leading thirty nine, leads
the nation in rushing yards, and Illinois is ranked seventeen
of the country six and one. So Chase Ground, Illinois
running back, is my current number three. Here is my
number two. C J. Stroud Eyebols. The defense gets the
step back to pass a Stroud looks and he throws

(35:39):
short on the left. I caught by Stover to the
Penn State ten. Stover wiggles his way to the five
stoff into the end zone. Touchdown Kate Stover. That of
course is Paul Keels from Liarfield. Right there. C J.
Stroud the highest state quarterback. He's got big games out
of him. Had a big game today against Penn State
twenty six and thirty three, three and fifty four yards score,

(36:01):
no touchdowns, leads the nation of passing efficiency, and his
team is undefeated. But he's not my current number one.
This guy is Hooker, which wings to pass out right,
that's caught get into the tent at all. The way
to the checkerboards is Jalen High. That's Bob Castley from Learfield. There.

(36:24):
So Henn and Hooker the quarterback at Tennessee. Thanks to
that big win against Alabama. They got a tough game
today they'll be hosting a five and two ranked Kentucky team.
But I got Hann and Hooker still as my number one.
An you can upset the number one team. Uh, eventually

(36:44):
gonna have to put hide in there too. I mean yes,
well again the reason I give Hooker the slight edge,
by the way, second in nation passing efficiency behind Stroud.
But he's just had one bigger win. Yes, he had
Alabama win. Trump's anything Ohio State has done so far.
Now down the road, can we could have a battle
of unbeans Ohio stated mission, I make a prediction prediction time.

(37:08):
I predict that our guy brock Bowers will be in
your Heisman hierarchy next week. Really, I'm just gonna. Okay,
it is the second quarter of the game against Florida
right now, he has four for one in a touchdown.

(37:28):
That's thirty one point three yards per reception. Not bad
for a tight end. So I'm just gonna. He's been
in my list before. Last year as a freshman he
made All America. So I'm just gonna. You know, I'm
prognosticating right now. I just I believe, especially if this

(37:49):
game continues to go like it's going, uh, that we'll
see him here. Here's the difference though, So a year
ago brock Bowers had an amazing third teen touchdown receptions
as a tight end. He only has to this year. However,
get this, he's actually run for three touchdowns. How many

(38:12):
tight ends have three rushing touchdowns in the season. Um, look,
I'm Brady. I'm glad you brought up Georgia because I
want to talk about this Georgia team right now. We
mentioned earlier Georgia legend Vince Duley passing away at the
age of ninety. They had not won a National Championship
since Duteley was the coach back in until last year.

(38:34):
Stetson Bennett is still sitting there at quarterback. It's got
some decent numbers again today, He's not gonna blow the
doors off. He's not that kind of a quarterback out there.
But with a veteran quarterback, a lot of new faces
on their defense, I don't know what do you think
of this team collectively? Defensively, it's hard to match the
team that was historic a year ago. But when you

(38:55):
look at the teams behind him, Ohio State, Clemson, Tennessee,
Alabama is still in the mix despite that loss to
Tennessee Michigan. Are they still a notch above everybody else
right now in your opinion? Georgia, Well, of course, I
mean they're to defend the champions um. Yes, they were
depleted by the NFL on uh, the defense decided to

(39:19):
ball some offensive guys as well. But the fact that
all of those guys now playing on defense were part
of a championship team. They were part of that championship
chemistry and iron sharpens iron. We've seen Alabama do that
year in and year out, and now Georgia in terms

(39:40):
of recruiting, having guys ready to go when they get
depleted by the NFL. That's the formula that they're using,
and we're seeing them keep up that same level of intensity. Now.
They're not as great as the their defense was last year.
You know that seventeen first round draft picks on more

(40:00):
uh leave defensively, but they're in a place right now
to where they're just dominating people and offensively, they're giving
themselves more and more room. In the first not seven
games this year, seven and oh, they're averaging forty two
points a game and on average giving up nine. That's

(40:22):
amazing forty two tonight. Well, when you beat Vanderbilto, then
it helps. It helps a lot. All right, we'll see
what they do today against Florida. We continue on a
lot more coming out. This is Fox Football Saturday. Four
step drop. He's firing for side, has a man open

(40:44):
at the five yard line. That ball is caught for
a Wildcat touchdown. Thomas Harbord and coverage is a touchdown
for Philip Brooks and the Wildcats with eleven seventeen to
go in the first half. Now with a twenty to
nothing lead. That's why at Thompson for liarfield. Forget twenty nothing,
how about twenty eight to nothing. And Kansas State has

(41:07):
a third and goal at the Oklahoma State one yard
line and they're pushing and pushing and pushing. Is he in?
It looks like is that on the line? How do
you even tell? Right there? Right there? Right there? Is
it there? Of reviewing the play right now? But this
has been a big surprise, Oklahoma State coming in number

(41:30):
nine in the country, six and one on a road
against five and two Kansas State rank number twenty two,
but it has been all Kansas State today, the Wildcats
with a twenty eight to nothing lead. Once again. We're

I spent the last eight years in San Diego and
I've come back to Los Angeles. I had the same
apartment that I maintained in San Diego. And to say

(42:15):
that I put nothing into that apartment, it's it's an understatement.
Nothing maybe yes. So I just got a phone call
that you know, you have a five security deposit on
an apartment. So I got the full security deposits. I
gave you more money. They actually gave you. They doubled it.

(42:37):
They didn't have to come in and clean it. Eight
years and I get the full five back on my
security deposit. They didn't take out a cent years, never
used the stove, never put anything on the wall, air mattress,

(42:57):
like the home of a serial killer going on there.
That's got to be some kind of record most years
in a single apartment and getting your full security depositive
back all five makes no sense to me. It's what
Tom Brady separation pad looks like right now, exactly exact too.
I can it is a place to flop. It was
simply that for eight years, and I found out, I

(43:20):
get the full security deposit their and take the television
off the off the wall kaiser, SoSE just disappears. That
is unbelievable. That really is unbelievable. But I'll take it.
Why not. All at the same time, I can do

(43:41):
something with that money. It's a very very good all right.
Another big day in college football today. Obviously big day
in the NFL World Series is underway. How about crazy
was that last night? You know, Verlander has got a
five nothing lead and he blows it. Verlander, a future

(44:03):
Hall of Fame first ballad guy, is now oh in
six in World Series games. That's pretty unbelievable. That that's tough, man,
that's tough. Well, we talked about it all the time.
We talk about you know, completing the year, right, that's important.

(44:25):
You have to complete the year. The second season is
the most important season in all sports. Did have playoffs? Right?
You can be great, you can be cy young, you
can golden glove all that, But when if the set
when the second season starts, if you don't, if you
don't show up and show out, what's it for? Well,
here here's the amazing thing. So in division series and

(44:48):
Championship series starts, in starts, he's fifteen and five. But
in eight World Series game starts, he's oh and six
with a six oh of an e r A lord.
So hard to believe. Kershaw is not much better. Let's
see here Clayton Kershaw his World Series record. He runs

(45:11):
into some things as well. Well. Kershaw in the World
Series is three and two six r A The problem
is in all of his postseason starts good, it's not good.
It's not good. Yeah, he has a record of seven
and thirteen and twelve when the n r A over four. Yeah,
right around for a guy who has a career e

(45:32):
r A. He has a career. Yeah, he's thirteen and
twelve of the four two e r A for a
guy who has a regular season e r A of
tot Yeah, it's it's it's right around the fifth sixth inning. Yeah,
the wheels just fall off. And we've seen a year
in and year out and you just start scratching your
head like, what is happening right now? Well, I mean
it's it's interesting because we talk about when you when

(45:54):
you evaluate a career, right and you know, I've been
mentioning in the Heisman vote when it when it comes
down to it, I'm gonna look at the top candidates
and ask this question, who played the best and what
was the biggest game on their schedule? You know Aidan
Hutchinson last year, the reason he finished number two in

(46:14):
my ballot was Michigan finally beat Ohio State and he
had three sacks in that game. He dominated that game.
That's how he got in the top three on my
Heisman ballot. Obviously, Bryce Young won the Heisman because he
beat Georgia and that SEC championship game. That's how you
went a Heisman Trophy. But it is interesting that a

(46:36):
lot of times players that are the most dominant the postseason,
it doesn't necessarily match up with the regular season. Madison
Bumgarner was one of those who's had really good regular season.
Never want to cy Young or anything like that, but
when that postseason begin, this guy who was just like
lights out, and I would prefer that if I'm on

(46:58):
a team, give me that guy, right. I don't close
us out, buddy. So how do you explain something like that?
Why why do certain athletes underperform in the biggest games
while others that seemingly fly under the radar in a
regular season shine when the spotlight is brightest. It could
be a bunch of things. Um, it could be those

(47:21):
guys pushed too hard. They you know, the pressures of
being great, uh are enormous, especially when you're having one
of those type of award winning seasons. Um, the pressure
you put on yourself and the more and more pressure

(47:43):
you put on yourself, do you start to push outside
of your comfort zone, and you start to do a
little bit too much. You put a little I wanna
put a little bit more spin on the ball. I
want to drop it right below. So you start going
out side of your normal mechanics because it means more.

(48:05):
And then you find yourself in a situation. Once you
get in a hole, it's hard to get out of
the whole. And you know, greatness is hard greatness. And
look at Peyton Manning. Right in the regular season, I'm
as greatest regular season quarterback on the planet Earth. Postseason,
it was a different story. He ended up still winning

(48:27):
two Super Bowls, but he should have had more. I mean,
when he changed and revolutionized the game at the quarterback position,
they would say, well why And in the in the
the caliber of team he had Hall of Fame receivers right,
Hall of Fame running back, Hall of Fame defensive ends

(48:47):
right in Matthews and Frenie and and so you say, well, well,
why didn't he have more championship Why? It's just something
about the postseason that it just changes, and greatness can
be affected by that sometimes. You know, it's interesting if
you look at the regular season status we're talking about
Clayton Kershaw for a second here in some respects are

(49:09):
better than Sandy Kofax. He has a lower career e
ra A than co Fax did. So what's the difference
we mentioned that is postseason the arras four two. You
know what, Sandy Kofax's postseason the r A all World
Series games, by the way back in the day, in
seven starts, zero point nine five zero nine five in

(49:31):
seven World Series stars. That's the difference. That is the difference.
When you say, well Coax was, that was a long
time ago. That number screams yeah. You know, it doesn't
matter what era, what decade, whatever, when you're that dominant.
Is co Fax was in the biggest games? Wow? Yeah,

(49:55):
So that's what separates him out there. By the way,
Kansas State did get that touchdown three do you five
to nothing at half time? Blowing out Oklahoma State in
this game. I'm looking at some of the numbers there
Will Howard, the kans State quarterback, fifteen or four yards
and four touchdown passes and Deuce Vaughn fourteen carries a

(50:16):
hundred and twenty one yards. That's three hundred and fifty
yards of total offense to nine seven for Oklahoma State.
If you're like Gundy, what do you say at halftime?
I'm a man, I'm forty, I'm a man. I don't
know what. What do you say at half time when
you're down? What was the biggest halftime deficit you ever face?

(50:38):
Can you remember? You block those things out? Man? I mean,
is there when you're down thirty five to nothing? Is
there anything a coach can say or should say? You
just want the game to end as quickly as when
you're going at halftime. As a coach, you have to say,
we allowed them to score thirty five points. Day score no,

(51:00):
no more points in offense. If they can score thirty five,
we can score thirty five, right, right, Let's get one
play at a time, one point at a time. But defense,
the onus is on you, right, and then you go
out and you see if that helps, and you know,
cross your fingers, pray Wow. Thirty five to nothing, Kansas
State blowing out Oklahoma State. That game is at the half,

(51:24):
all right. Coming up on the other side, we're gonna
get back to a little NFL talk. We mentioned about
the Giants and the Jets. They've been the big story
of this NFL season with a combine eleven and three record.
What other big surprises have been folded early in this
NFL season. We'll break it down coming up next step

(51:50):
thanks to throw quick throw, can't bad. Bucky Irvy goes inside.
He got it in touchdown, Bucky Irvy. That's Jerry Allen
from Liriphiel by the way, the Killer Jerry Lee Lewis
passing away, the last of those legends that literally create

(52:12):
a rock and roll in the fifties out of Sun
Records with Elvis and Johnny Cash and all those guys.
And Jerry Lee Lewis said, I was probably the least
likely to outlive them all, but he did. And Chuck
Berry and all those guys, well he wasn't Sun Records.
I'm talking about from that era. Who else played the
piano with their heel? That would be a little Richard.

(52:34):
Oh yeah, there's another. Did you see the Elvis movie?
I haven't yet. You haven't seen the Elvis movie. I
mean you're about to see it, but I haven't. I
want to see I have not seen it yet. I
was flying back from Atlanta last night and we had
you know film, you know, movies available to this. The
guy sitting next to me was playing the Elvis movie
and slept through the entire movie. I watched it because

(52:58):
I've seen it. It's simply about seeing a movie and
then even if you don't have the sound, you can
relive the whole movie. But so you didn't watch a
movie on your own monitor, you are do you know what?
We just had this long conversation, Steve. Let me ask
you this and let let let the people know. How
long have you been just in radio? I have been

(53:18):
in radio for thirty three years. How long have you
been in television? Twenty four years? How many of those
years have overlapped years or twenty four years? Right, So
you've been making money hand over fist. Well, I don't
know about hand over fist, but I know I know
how much they pay. Okay, I'm in the business as well. Yes,

(53:39):
you've been doing it for almost four decades. And you
just explain to me your trip back from Notre Dame. Yes,
last night I had a flight Delta Airlines from South
End to Atlanta, which is the Delta hub, and then
Atlanta to Los Angeles last night, and I was in sate,

(54:03):
which is a middle seat in the back of a plane.
That is great Oh, and my question to you was why, Okay,
he lives his life simply if I don't care, man
of thrift, it doesn't matter. But when you travel, you
try if you can afford to travel what he can,

(54:25):
you can at least go business class. It doesn't matter.
If you can travel to where there's comfort in it,
then why wouldn't you do that? If you've worked for
forty years in entertainment. Yeah, you think that at this
point in my life, I should treat myself, is what

(54:45):
you're saying. What I'm saying is you're going to get
to the end of this thing we call life and
be like, man, I probably should have blank blank blank blank.
I spend the money on things I really want to
spend the money. You don't spend the money though, so
well not out by the way, it's not in your car.
Don't try to cut me off with a red hold
on I. I my smart car is at a hundred

(55:06):
sixty three thousand miles and running like a top. I
can promise you if I put my back and my
knees and my hips into it, I can lift his
car up. By the way, Brady Papinga has fitted comfortably
in that car. Rich Ormburger has been in that car.
Dare I say from I bet you could sit in
that car comfortably. I'm six eight. I know you are,

(55:30):
and I'm telling you right now you will sit in
there saying how is there so much room in this car?
But why I would like to see that? I will say, though,
Steve does spend money, but he spends it on other people.
That's he takes his family out to these lavish dinners,
never spent it on me. I'm just saying, well, I

(55:52):
also know this, no matter how much money you've made
post football, it's not the equal of what you made
playing football. I probably I'm making more than I did
when I played. What was your rookie contract as a
seventh round pick? I made a hundred and sixty two
dollars before Texas. There it is. That was back in Yeah,

(56:14):
so okay, well that was pretty good money back then
I was making more than that anyway. We are a
live from the direct dot Com studios. The Breeders Cup
World Championships are coming to Icona, Keenland November four and fifth.

(56:36):
watch all the action live on November fourth and fifth.
I know this is Fox Football Saturday, but I can't
go throughout this entire show without asking you about one
of your most beloved teams, and that would be the
Los Angeles Lakers, having started the season oh and five
worst team in basketball. Well, record wise, they are the

(56:57):
worst team in basketball. Uh, Anthony Davis didn't take long.
He missed the game against the Timberwolves, five games in
the season. He's hurt. Uh. They're praising Russell Westbrook saying
he'll already be a prime candidate for six Man of
the Year. Of course he's making forty million dollars. Absolutely
he won't. So how do you think this affects a
guy like Lebron James. We're talking about Tom Brady, right,

(57:19):
and he's sitting on a team that's lost five out
of six games, and a guy that's Houston doing nothing
but win, win, win, win, when double digit wins every
year of his entire career save one. Think about that.
Since Tom Brady became a starting quarterback, he's only had
one season where his team didn't win at least ten

(57:40):
games and they were nine and seven. He never had
a losing season as a starting quarterback, which is mind blowing.
He's also never lost three games in a row. He
hadn't since two thousand six, correct, and I doubt he's
ever lost five out of six. But that's got to
stand alone. But what about Lebron James. Do you think

(58:00):
he's of the same mindset as Tom Brady. One thing
we know about Lebron and you can see it still,
the guy's conditioning. And second enough, the guy works hard
to keep himself in condition three sixty five days a year.
You can't be in that kind of condition twenty years
into your NBA career unless you're doing it all year long.

(58:21):
So his commitment to his physical well being is unmatched.
But what about the desire to win? I mean, he's
sitting at oh and five right now, and the prospects
of this season getting better seem remote. They don't have
much of a bench, they have no shooters on this team.
Anthony Davis is fragile. Russell Westbrook who knows the mindset

(58:43):
of him? Right now? Where does that leave the King
at home? I would I mean, at this point, he
created this mess. He created this mess, and now he's
looking for someone to get him out of this mess.
This is what you wanted. You wanted Westbrook. You didn't

(59:06):
want Belly Hill, you don't want Turner, you want him
now though, but this is what you want. You wanted
to max out the cap and have three guys that
you thought could go to war. None of you guys
can shoot. So I don't even know how that's even possible,

(59:30):
and in in an era of shooting, I don't. I
I to this day, I don't understand why you would
want Russell Westbrook if the league is all about shooting.
He can't shoot. Twos threes are free throws, poor percentages

(59:52):
in all of them. Let me ask you this about
his legacy. Alright, So Lebron is this year chasing down time, right,
And I know it's early in the season, five games in,
but in terms of field goal attempts per game, he
is near the top of the list around the league.

(01:00:12):
He's shooting below twenty four percent from three point land,
and yet he's averaging eight per game attempts. The idea
of chasing the all time record, trying to get to
that finish line, and then extending your deal beyond this
of the hopes that somehow you're gonna be able to

(01:00:35):
be on the same court as your son, who probably
is right now the third best player on his own
high school team. And this guy is not being He's
a six three guarden in his own house, right, better
than him? Right? So I mean brawny is he's he's
his stock is dropped in terms of evaluating him. He's

(01:00:56):
not a six a giant like his father. He's not
even like that. He's a six three guard. And and
Lebron everything is about him right now, the scoring record,
extending his career, with his dream that the Lakers, no
matter how bad they are, gonna bring in this brawny
kid just to appease Lebron James, and then his demand

(01:01:18):
of Adam Silver give me a franchise in Las Vegas.
I have always been a Lebron fan. I will make
the argument that he is the greatest player in the
history of the NBA, But go ahead, he is the
greatest player in the history of the NBA. He's won
championships with three different franchises, and he has been James

(01:01:41):
over Michael Jordan in their prime, So Michael I didn't. Yes,
I would say Lebron does more things on the court
than than Michael Jordan. Thank you you you pretend as
a Michael Jordan's loyalist. Did it by himself? I did not.
I was a Lake I'm a Laker fan. I know, yeah,

(01:02:03):
I remember Michael Jordan won his first championship against the Lakers.
I've grown up hating the Bulls and Michael Jordan's, But
I also am a basketball realist, and there have been
very few players, if any, with the mindset to rip
your heart out of your check. Where were the challenges

(01:02:24):
for the balls? Again, not diminishing the skills of Michael Jordan's.
So they won NBA Finals against the Lakers at the
end of their run minus Kareem. They won against Utah,
they won against the SuperSonics, they won against Portland's. They
won against that Phoenix team. The Charles Barklay was a
one man game. You know. It was a Game seven

(01:02:46):
in NBA Finals, zero point zero because they never got
that far that and that's not a knock on in
the grade. So when people say he was everyone talks
about six or six, right, six or six NBA Finals
what happened the other eight years of his NBA career
where he didn't make it the finals. He wasn't six
for six, He was six for fourteen in terms of

(01:03:08):
championships in his career. So he went to fourteen finals
and won six. Is that what you're saying? To six finals?
But what about the eight years they didn't make the finals?
But do they count? Do you count that in anyone's No,
you don't. You don't talk about Dan Marino? Are are
excuse me? You don't talk about Joe Montana and and

(01:03:30):
be like, you know he's four for four. You don't
say what about the other twelve years he played? You don't.
We're talking about championships. If you get to the super Bowl,
if you get to the NBA finals, we talked about that.
It's a separate season. Michael Jordan went six years, he
won six years, never gone to a game, seven was

(01:03:51):
finals MVP every single time. Tell me what's wrong with that?
What's wrong with that? Comparing him to Lebron James. Is
this all six NBA finals that the Bulls played in
with Michael Jordan's they were the favorites going into all
six and they delivered in the ten NBA Finals that

(01:04:12):
Lebron has been in, of which he's won four, only
three times of those ten were they the favorite team
going into the NBA Finals, and he was the leader
of the team that engineered the biggest comeback in NBA
Finals history, down three games to one, winning two on
the road against the seventy three win Golden State team.

(01:04:35):
He delivered that. Yeah, he also lost to Dirk Navitsky.
That was the one year that they were favored where
they lost by himself. Yeah, okay, that was the one
year so where they were favorite when you just rattled
off all of the opponents that the Bulls had. All
of those teams had multiple Hall of Famers. Phoenix did not.

(01:05:00):
They had Charles Barkley, Damn Marley was not a whole
Who else did they have on that and that Portland's
team had Kevin Duck where they had Drexler? Was it famers?
The Laker team in ninety one had one hot while
they had too they had Worthy also. Okay, so so
this is what's the thing of Utah. Sarry Payton, Sean Camp,

(01:05:23):
wasn't you come on, now, you know what Dean Camp?
Do you know what de Sean camp is you know
what that is? So don't don't sit here like, oh
they didn't they didn't have any competition. He was playing
and beat He stopped a whole era of great players
from winning championship. Do you believe Scottie Pippen was overrated
or underrated? I think he was underrated. Well if you

(01:05:46):
if you watch that special that Michael Jordan produced about himself,
he dismissed them as nothing. Come on, do you see
what's happening in their relationship? What it's being right, Scotty
Pippen's wife is day Michael Jordan's son his ex wife.
I mean, come on, man, this is this is the
level of petty we're doing right now. Smith Scottie Pippen

(01:06:09):
as a passenger on a luxury liner of which he
was the skipper of. All right, there, Scotty Pippen has
also said he's been the best player in the NBA
and and you know Jordan was nothing without him. So
there you have that. All right, let's find out what's
trending right now, we'll interrupt this conversation to bring on Well,
I mean it's I mean, you go back and forth,

(01:06:30):
there's no right answer. There's the right answer. But go ahead,
you're right. I feel like I had the best argument. No. Interesting, Well,
let's have a tiebreaker here. Bryan Finley is here. We
got Oh, I'm on TV from all the ron I'm

(01:06:51):
not I'm not a Lebron hater, never have been, not
a Lebron Here I'm talking to Brian Finner. Well, you know,
I have to admit my bias. I am a lifelong
Clippers fan, and even though I am on teen e
from I did want to extend the hand and say,
even though the Lakers are face planning, you're always welcome

(01:07:11):
to join the Clippers bandwagons. Shot, where's the bandwagon going?
Going over the cliff like it does every year? This
is the year. If we all stay healthy, we're going
all the way. Yeah, we'd all be drunk. Okay, how
many ifs can we have with the Clippers? Right, we've

(01:07:32):
been if for a long time. Well again, when you
have the king of load management, Kawhi Leonard, who knows Yeah,
I mean basically, he he redefined load management by literally
taking seasons off. He took off that whole season with
San Antoni, took all of last season off with the Clippers.
So now he plays every other year, so he better

(01:07:55):
show up this year. Well, and Steve, you guys are
the opposite of load management when it comes to how
hard you all are are working in this business in
the long hours. How about that for a transition. Well
from there, thank you, Danny g Let's get into some
college football and number one Georgia is tormenting Florida at

(01:08:18):
the havel twenty eight to three. The running game has
just been demolishing the Gators, who are taken on a
bulldog team that's looking to go eight and oh on
this season. Number eight in the country, Oregon has a
twenty one to ten advantage on the road against kel
thirteen ten left in the third quarter, game that can
be seen on FS one, with Ducks quarterback bow Knicks

(01:08:39):
running into scores. He's thrown for two seventy five yards,
so he's feeling it through the air as well. Then
we've got kind of the head scratcher here. Number twenty
two Kansas State is laying it on number nine Oklahoma
State thirty five to nothing and a game that can
be watched stan Fox Television. And there's ten twenty five

(01:09:03):
left in the third quarter. Speechless started effort there from
the Cowboys, while number ten Wake Forest holding on by
a point against Louisville in Louisville at halftime fourteen to thirteen.
Their number seventeen illinoiss having their way with Nebraska twenty
to nine. They just started the third quarter while you

(01:09:23):
cef formerly a couple of years ago they won the
national championship, the second national championship that was had by
you know, there was one team that wanted and they
also wanted as well, if that's a possibility, ten to six.
They are on top of number twenty two Cincinnati in
the third quarter. As far as what is happening in
the NFL. Wanted to though before we go there, mentioned

(01:09:46):
that number thirteen Penn State had a lead by five
points against number two Ohio State in Happy Valley and
then it was twenty eight points scored by the Buckeyes
in the fourth quarter to go onto win four four
to thirty one. Fox Courts radios LaVar Arrington was at
the game. He was honored. Of course, he was an
a lum and nobody has yet to get a wellness

(01:10:09):
check on him after the way that game ended. Number
sixteen Syracuse goes down to to Notre Dame fort number
seventy SU splatters West Virginia forty one to thirty one,
and then quickly in the NFL, Titan's quarterback Malik Willis
is gonna be making his season debut as his starter
this upcoming weekend after Ryan Tannehill, who remains ill, is

(01:10:31):
a no go and he missed team walked through today.
Bengals wide receiver to Mark Chase is out this week
with a hip injury. They're not gonna put him on
the injured reserve because they hope to get him back
within four weeks. And finally, guys, I know we talked
a lot about kickers on this show, unless we never
talk about kickers. Steelers kicker Chris Boswell is to miss
Sunday versus the Eagles with a hurt groin. That note,

(01:10:56):
let's take it back to Steve hartman Ay from Saloon.
You define a hurt groin. I don't know if I can,
but I'm wondering if he from has ever experienced that
in his playing days. Yeah, I pulled my growing before
I came back into the game and we ended up
winning because it's just me. Now, wait a second, did

(01:11:19):
you fight through the pain or did they help you
to ease the pain? I fought through it. I mean,
you can only do so much when you're going rolls
up and sits right underneath your scroller. Uh, it's a
it's a problem. It really is a problem. It really hurts. Um.
Should I have done that? Probably not? But now you
do it for the team. For the team. Now pressure

(01:11:40):
out there. UM. We talked earlier about Tom Brady who's
lost three in a row, five out of six. As
bad as his situation is, there's another quarterback of right
now that's got even a worse situation. That would be
Aaron Rodgers. The Packers are staring at a fourth straight
law US. When they traveled to Buffalo to play the Bills.

(01:12:02):
When is the last time and Aaron Rodgers team was
a ten and a half point underdog. That's what they
are against the powerful Bills in Buffalo in that Sunday
night game. Aaron Rodgers, here's an amazing stat. Through the
first seven games, he is averaging less than ten yards

(01:12:24):
a completion, not an attempt a completion, less than ten
yards a completion. They have no deep threats. They have
nothing to work with offensively. So if you were to
get in the head of a Tom Brady versus get
in the head of Aaron Rodgers, who, in your mind,
is feeling a little more desperation to salvage this season.

(01:12:50):
I think, honestly, I think, um, Tom Brady is more desperately.
I don't think Aaron Rodgers cares. Oh okay, I'm glad
you mentioned this, all right, so we know one thing
about Brady. He always cares. Aaron Rodgers has been to
one Super Bowl in his career. He wanted back in

(01:13:10):
two thousand and nine. Yeah, I was still in the league.
But go ahead, okay, So it was a two thousand ten,
two thousand nine. It was well January, is that right?
What season was it? So the two thousand here I know,
I I suddenly slipped my head. Aaron Rodgers was two

(01:13:32):
thousand nine, right, which is the two thousand nine season? Yes, okay,
so I was when both we were right on both
the courts. Right. So when you evaluate the career of
Aaron Rodgers, four time most viable player, statistically the most
efficient quarterback in the history of the National Football League, Steve, Sorry,

(01:13:53):
I was mistaken. Is actually February, so it's following it
was season when they were major under underdogs. Yeah, because
the year they lost one game and then went belly
up against the great offense. Right, they went up against
the Giants and that team and lost. So when we talk,
we were talking earlier about Justin burr Lander and Clayton

(01:14:14):
Kershaw great regular season players versus postseason. What's your evaluation
of Aaron Rodgers If he only wins that one Super Bowl,
goes to that one Super Bowl, can he be in
the same conversation with all the all time great legends
at the quarterback position. Well, I mean he's in the conversation.
His numbers show that he's in the conversation. Um, But

(01:14:38):
when you talk about all time greats, he's not in
that conversation. He's an elite quarterback. When we talk about
all the time, Grace, you hear people saying he's the
greatest thrower of the football that we've ever seen. I
don't subscribe to that. I need more than that. All
of the elite corp Damn, nobody could throw the ball
better than Dan Marino of Close and per You want

(01:15:00):
to talk about a Howard, sir. In a time where
teams were running the ball fifty times a game, he
was shredding people through the air. My first year working
with the Raiders. Four was the year that Dan Marino
rewrote the record books. We had Hall of Famer Mike
Haines at one corner and it should be Hall of

(01:15:20):
Famer Lester Hayes at the other corner. Haynes had a
couple of interceptions in that game, but he two for
four touchdowns of four hundred seventy four yards or four
hundred seventy yards throwing this guy named Mark Clayton who
just ate up Lester Hayes as we were leaving the stadium.
Raiders actually won this game, um Lester Hayes because they
always thought Dan fouts and that Eric Correal offense was

(01:15:42):
by far the best offense they had seen. And Lester
said to me, I've never seen a quarterback throw like that.
Hey man. Ever, So when we talk about Aaron Rodgerson
where he places, you know, he doesn't place over Dan
Marino when we talk about being able to throw the
ball like no one's but make every throw. So I

(01:16:04):
don't subscribe to this. You know, he's the greatest and
he's that the biggest thing for me is his leadership.
Are lack thereof very condescending. Um loves to point the
finger lack of accountability and just his antics. The last
couple of years has shown the type of leader he is.

(01:16:25):
He's very pouty, and to me, that's not I mean,
I've always said this, when you talk about elite quarterbacks,
receivers don't make elite quarterbacks. Elite quarterbacks make receivers. So
when you constantly come to me and tell me, well,

(01:16:46):
Aaron Rodgers needs help, that's not elite quarterbacks. They make receivers.
It's not the other way around. Whatever you have in
your covered you make the meal with. And if you're
that good, the greatest thrower of the football, then make
a meal. Stop complaining about what's in the refrigerator. All right,

(01:17:10):
I got another follow up to this whole situation about
individuals in team sports coming up next on a very
unpredictable college football Saturday. This is Fox Football Saturday, and

(01:17:33):
we are broadcasting live from the tire Irac dot com studios.
Ti irac dot com will help get you there an
unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road has our protection
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirerac dot com The
way tire Buying should be all right. Of all the
things that have happened today, two things stand out. One

(01:17:55):
is that Iowa is actually scoring points today. It's hard
to believe, but i is scoring points. Iowa Sam is
leaving the building very happy right now because Iowa rolling
it up there. I say, twenty three to seven of
our hapless Northwestern We got inside thirteen minutes to go

(01:18:15):
in the fourth quarter. So that's a miracle. But that
doesn't compare to what's happening right now in this Oklahoma
State Kansas State game. So Oklahoma State number nine in
the country, six and one. They're only lost going into
this game was a road loss against still undefeated TCU
forty three to forty. That was their only loss. Oklahoma

(01:18:38):
State came into this game today at Kansas State averaging
forty four points per game through their first seven games.
They are losing thirty eight to nothing. How's that possible?
How do you go from averaging forty four points? It's
not like Kansas Staman. Kansas States a D and Big

(01:19:00):
twelve school there five and two, three and one in conference.
But there was nothing to convince you that Kansas State
at any kind of defense that was going to shut
down completely this Oklahoma State offense. When you overlook a
team and you don't you know, you don't take them
serious enough. And I don't know how you don't take

(01:19:23):
an opponent that's five and two serious. Um, this is you.
You you run into this, you know, coming off a
big win last week against Texas, even though Kansas State
has ranked two that was probably some we got them,
and you do not. I mean, this is one team

(01:19:47):
didn't get up for it and the other team did.
I'm looking at some of the numbers here. For instance,
Oklahoma State came into this game averaging a hundred and
fifty four yards per game rushing. Today they have thirty eight. Yeah,
when someone hits you in the mouth of the sledge hammer,
it's hard to to to regain you're equilibrium. And everyone

(01:20:13):
on everyone on Kansas State team has a sledgehammer in
their hands and they're just whacking away and and and
once you know, once enough people got to get hit
in face, it's over. Seriously, you know, Kansas State is
doing anything they want to do. And yeah, I just

(01:20:35):
asked you the question, this is the number nine team
in the in the in the country. Well, and then again,
like I said, They're only loss was undefeated TCU two
weeks ago. Uh still undefeated TCU by a score of
forty forty on the road. Yeah, but they beat Central
Michigan State, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Right, they won a big

(01:20:58):
game against Baylor, so you're like, oh, okay, they beat
Texas Tech. They lost TCU, which is still undefeated and
that was a closed game, and then they had a
big win last week against Texas. Well, that's the whole point.
In other words, beating Texas who had been on some
of a role. I mean remember their blowout loss over
or blow victory over Oklahoma. Hey. By the way, PAC

(01:21:20):
twelve Oregon Ducks I mentioned earlier when the Golden Bears
of Cal had an early lead, it would evaporate. It
has Oregon leading Cowboys score twenty to ten inside three
minutes ago in the third quarter, Oregon coming out that
big win against U C. L A. Bow Nicks today
already three and twenty six yards passing a couple of touchdowns.

(01:21:41):
We talked about this last week how bow Knicks was
ordinary during his time at Auburn suddenly looks a lot
different playing against PAC twelve competition. If the PAC twelve
champion is a one lost team, whether it's Oregon, are
USC or U c l A. Do you think that's

(01:22:04):
good enough to punch a ticket into the college football playoff?
M hmm, because by by and large, the Pack twelve
is can been completely ignored over the years in terms
of any kind of acceptance into the college football playoff.
But if Oregon USC or U c l A runs
the table the rest of the way and ends up

(01:22:26):
with a twelve and one record and a Pack twelve championship,
should they have a ticket to the college football playoffs? Yeah?
I believe so because you look at Georgia, you look
at Tennessee, and you look at Alabama, and something's gonna have,
something has to give, something's gonna have to give. The

(01:22:47):
only two of those teams can play an SEC championship game,
so that I have one on the outside looking in.
And so you know, the winner of Georgia ends up
winning again in Alabama loses twice. Are Georgia beats Tennessee? Uh?
And then you look at Ohio State in Michigan. You
know what that's about to be. All right, So you're
saying one team and now, of course next week we're

(01:23:09):
gonna be sitting here and talking about that Georgia Tennessee matchup,
which is going to be phenomenal. Obviously, Ohio State Michigan
winner one SEC team not too in the four game
play team playoff, Clemson is there. I'm not convinced that
this Clemson team is all that good. No, but all
I gotta do is win out. I mean, I gotta

(01:23:31):
believe that the best of the pack twelve, whether it's
Oregon or USC or even U C l A, is
better than Clemson this year. I would say that, but
you know, Clempson is gonna win the a CECUH conference title.
They'll be undefeated. He looked at the remainder of their schedule.

(01:23:51):
They got a Notre Dame team next week coming off
a big one today again, Syracuse, Louisville, Miami, who's you know?
And then South Carolina, so they have the clearest path
to go undefeated leading up to the a c C
championship game. And then who are they going to play
in that Carolina Duke right? So well, who would you

(01:24:13):
let me ask you this TCU it's another team that
could run the table. Their home against Texas Tech at
Texas at Baylor Iowa stayed at home. They win the
Pack twelve champion or a Big twelve championship. Does an
undefeated TCU or an undefeated Clemson are they really better

(01:24:34):
than a one loss Pack twelve champion? In other words,
could they both lock out the Pack twelve if they
run the table? I believe if they're going defeated, yes
they could. Yes, yes, yes they could. I get it.
I mean that's been the conversation for a long time
about the Big Pack telpeating themselves up. Yeah. But if

(01:25:00):
TCU runs the table, if Clemson runs the table, they
win their conference championship, then absolutely they're undefeated. They trump
a one loss Pack twelve team. Let's say Alabama plays
Georgia in the SEC championship game, one loss, Alabama, undefeated Georgia,
and Alabama beats Georgie again. So last year you had

(01:25:23):
Alabama in Georgia both in the College Football Playoff, as
it turns out, in the championship game, and Georgia returned
the favor. Is that fair in a four team playoff
they have two teams from the same conference. I mean,
it's fair in terms of well, I understand ESPN. Look,

(01:25:46):
I've always said this about the college football playoffs. It's
a made for TV event. ESPN is invested in in
insane amount of money to be the soul, you know,
home of this college football playoffs so they can pick
and choose the teams they want. They ended up with
the two best teams in the country Georgian Alabama. Yeargo
were those two teams. They proved it in the semifinals
to blow up victories, and they had a championship game

(01:26:08):
they wanted. Okay, so let me actually this, So what
if Tennessee beats Georgia next week, Well, then maybe we'll
have a Tennessee Alabama. Well let me ask you this.
Let's say we have undefeated Tennessee versus Alabama in the
SEC championship game and Alabama beats them. Does a one
lost Tennessee team get in still, Yes, because they would

(01:26:31):
have beaten the then first team, the number one team
in the country Alabama, and then the number one team
in the country in Georgia. If that scenario plays out,
they would be in the championship because they beat a
Georgia team. So they would have beaten two number one,
two number, and you absolutely get invited to the college playoffs.

(01:26:53):
If you beat two uh number one teams UH ranked
in the in the in in college football, you get invited,
So you know there's that scenario as well. I'm a
bit of a pack twelve loyalists. I will say this.
I mean you're you are sitting up here with the
usc U C. L. A. Shart Well, I am that

(01:27:14):
I were here every single Saturday. And also they have
you noticed out of the consistency. The Breeders Cup World
Championships are coming to Icon and Keenland November four and fifth.
Don't miss the world's best thoroughbreds race for their share
of thirty one million dollars in purses and awards. There's
the Breeders Cup dot Com to watch all the action
live on November four and five. All right, coming up

(01:27:34):
on the other side, we're gonna break down another big
week in the NFL. Could it already be Week eight?
Week eight in the National Football League? Are Fox Sports
Radio NFL insider Adam Kaplan will break it down. Coming
up next Steve Hartman and e from Salam Fox Football Saturday.

(01:27:59):
We are law from the ti Iraq dot com studios.
Johnnius right now is he does every single week? He
is our Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider, the one and
only Adam Kaplan is joining us once again. So Adam,
I from and I have been talking plenty about a
couple of big stories, but namely the decline of two

(01:28:21):
of the late quarterbacks in the history of the NFL,
Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Let's start with Tom Brady
posting his third consecutive loss five out of six, and
where do we stand right now? Plus the big announcement
that indeed his divorce from Jesu Bunching is official. Um,

(01:28:43):
where does Tampa go from here? Well, the crazy thing is,
despite how badly they're playing us, you just outline, Steve, Uh,
they're only a half game back of the first place
Falcons who were three and four. So it's it's really craziness.
No one saw this division to be that bad to
start the season. Uh. Look, the Buckeers have their issues.

(01:29:03):
They've got a lot of injuries on both sides of
the football. I happen to be there the day that
Brady left camp in mid August. It was shocking, like,
you know what's going on here? This is a guy
that if you look at his career with when he
was with the Patriots, not only will we never miss
anything until very late in his career with them when
he had contract disputes, he just would show up anyway,
and for him to leave during camp. Now talking to

(01:29:24):
the Bucks, they said that this was all known beforehand
and uh, it's not a big deal. We expect him
back and he did come back. But yeah, he hasn't
played as usually great level. They do miss Rob Gronkowski
in a major way. There's very little like in between
the numbers. There's not a great pass the game inside anymore.
Chris Godwin's just getting back from his A c L injury.

(01:29:46):
They've had that problem. They've had offensive line problems. Are
down for offensive linemen from last season. They're not running
the ball chickly well as we saw in this game.
The lack of big plays he and Mike Evans they're
putting numbers up at their time isn't great. And their
d fench, which was probably the best of the NFL
for the first three weeks, it's really fallen off due
to injury. So if you put this all on Brady,
I think it's all on him, but he certainly has

(01:30:07):
not played well. But they've got a lot of issues
and the Bucks are Look, it's a terrible division, worse
than the natural Football leau. They still have a chance
to win it, but there are a lot of issues
with this team. There are a lot of issues. And
I've been saying this since the disappearing act in training camp.
It's really difficult. And I don't care who you are
and what you've given to the game and the level
you've played at, but it's really hard to compete, uh,

(01:30:31):
at a high level of this game if you're one
foot in and one foot out. I I know, I
know who's like, oh, But to me, you started this
off by saying Brady very rarely missed anything, and now
all of a sudden, you're missing training camp, you're missing
walk throughs, team flights. It just to me that it

(01:30:54):
comes out public you're getting a divorce. To me, it
seemed like Tom Brady is one foot in and one
foot out. I would say this much on that. I
don't know if he's got the same level of concentration
because you know, you mentioned the divorce, all that's going
on in his life and the struggles of the football team. Yeah,

(01:31:15):
I think it's it's Look, he's open season. Look they
announced the the divorce with his wife. But it's gotta
be tough, and I just it was. Let me just
go back to the day that there were two days
I was with the Bucks that were with the Dolphins
for a joint practice. What I should update is the
first day he was there for practice, the second day
he left and everyone spect as he heard, as he

(01:31:35):
heard what's going on, and the Bucks would not announce anything.
So later that day I checked in it and I
had asked, what's going on here? Always took a leave
of absence. We've known about this, this is going to happen,
So I was thinking, why don't they announced us to
start training camp in late July? That way, no one
would have asked because it was so bizarre, and if
you were called, there were lots of different reports. What
it really came down it was it was it was

(01:31:57):
it was a family issue, That's what it was. And
it was not his parents. It was with the wife,
and whatever that would happen then happened. But yeah, I mean,
I think it's fair to say that he hasn't quite
been himself. But there the let's see the things that's
not just Brady. If you want to go so baile
Is Steve match loss of five out of six. They're

(01:32:19):
just not doing anything well right now. Yeah, They've only
had one game in which they scored more than twenty
two points when they lost that shootout with the Chiefs.
And then you got Aaron Rodgers on a three game
losing streak, and the odds are pretty safe that it's
gonna be a four game losing streak. As they visited
Buffalo on Sunday Night Football Now even brought up something

(01:32:41):
that I've been saying for a long time, and this
is no way to diminish the career the talent of
Aaron Rodgers, but the urgency of winning championships certainly doesn't
match that of Tom Brady. I mean the season where
they really came out of nowhere that year to win
a champ and ship, followed by a year where they
lost a game then lost of the Giants. I just

(01:33:04):
maybe I'm wrong about this, but when I think about
Aaron Rodgers and coming up shore of the Super Bowl
these years in Green Bay, I don't look at him
as the kind of guy losing a lot of sleep
over that. And and I drew a comparison with a
guy like Damn Marino. And I was back in that
era Marino versus Elway, And here's what I always heard

(01:33:25):
about Marino. He wasn't one of the guys. Elway was
one of the guys. Marino was separate from the guys.
And I feel in a lot of ways, basically how
Rogers carries himself, there's a little bit of that in
Aaron Rodder. Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I mean
that's that's my read on the urgency or lack there of,

(01:33:47):
of Rogers adding another super Bowl to his resume. Yeah.
I would say this though, and this may be talking
about there's just a generation cap. If you look at
the receiver group that he has, it's almost all young.
So what they do is they brought in Sammy Watkins,
who's had a very big injury issue. Is the first
round for the Bills Ineen. He just came off into
reserve to play. Last week. Rogers demanded basically that they

(01:34:11):
trade for his close friend Randall Cobb got in back
from the Texans. Cobb has not really done much. He's
also on I R right now. They have a very
young receiver corps overall, and it has not it hasn't worked.
He's been very public about about their mistakes, and at
some point Rogers is gonna have to accept, like, look,
this is who you have. You got to get them

(01:34:32):
the football that they Their offense is low octane right now.
They just don't have a lot going on now the NMC,
if you really look at it, there's an opportunity for
for the Packers to turn it around. Here. I'm not
talking about one in the division, but just getting to
be a wild card. There's still the number nine team,
nine team out of of the of the seven that

(01:34:53):
can make it, So they're still vying for a wild
card spot. But overall, their defense, which a lot of
people felt was one of the best of the NFL,
cannot carry them any longer. And I don't I just
don't see. Like with the Bucks, they have a lot
of talent around Brady, there's some things that are going
on with injuries and offensive line play and so forth.
But with with the Packers, they're just not very good

(01:35:14):
at the skill positions. That's a problem. I Cap always said,
receivers don't make elite quarterbacks. Quarterbacks make elite receivers, right,
Elite quarterbacks make they make receivers, and so this narrative
that Aaron Rodgers needs help and these guys are young,
and it's all falls on leadership. Right. If you have

(01:35:37):
a young team and young receivers and you're elite, the
leadership is paramount. Right, Showing them up, talking about them,
throwing them under the bus, that's not leadership. It's it's
not you. You're right, they have a young core and
there's a disconnect there and until Aaron Rodgers embrace is

(01:36:01):
true leadership in terms of all right, let's figure this out.
Opposed to sulking and pounding and pointing the finger, I
don't think anything would change. Well, he's just look and
I know and look you played as you know, uh
the quarterback. Everyone's going to point the finger at the quarterback.
In this case, Roger's numbers are way down. He's working

(01:36:23):
with a very young group overall, and he's clearly his
trust issues and at some point he has to accept
the point that And then, by the way, I would
expect to make some sort of move by Tuesday's deadline,
the trade allen at four pm Eastern. But in that guy,
if they do this, if they do it, it'll be
someone who saysn't work with before, so that's gonna take

(01:36:44):
some time. And yeah, look at the start of this discussion,
you see some veteran quarterbacks really struggling and and both situations,
there's really not much of an end in sight right now.
It's it's gonna be hard. Now, Matt Lafleur, let's finish
the packers off. He's going to have to help these
young receivers. They make a lot of mail owers. Whether
he's got a dumb it down for him, make it
easier for them to learn, so that so they could

(01:37:05):
be in the right spot. I hate to put in
those turns, but when you're working with young kids, you know,
this West Coast offense is not easy. I know you
played in with Kubiak, I think so you know that
the terminology is. You know, it's the verbage system. It's
not the numbering system. It's a little bit harder. Just
do what you gotta do it. It's Rogers one of
the best regular season quarterbacks in NFL history, but this

(01:37:26):
is certainly we sold us a couple of years ago
for him, but not to this degree. He's also hauling
on the ball a little bit too long for him,
which is something because he's got one of the quickest
releases in the NFL. So Eve, him and I share
one thing. We're not big gamblers, especially on the NFL,
because to me, the more you know, the less you know.
And we were talking a week ago, how remarkable was

(01:37:49):
that the Giants and Jets were combined nine and three.
Now they're combined eleven and talking about here is a
betting line. Then please explain this to me. We saw
Monday night the Patriots get embarrassed by the Bears. You
gave up two forty three yards rushing at home against
the Bears. They're on a short week, coming off that

(01:38:12):
embarrassing loss. They go to the Jets, who are now
five and two, and the Patriots are two and a
half point favorite. I saw that. In fact, it was
one and a half. Yeah, I'm like you, I don't bet,
but I do look at that stuff to see how
what bigger you gotta? Yeah, I do. Um uh. The
Patriots of the record against the Jets were the last

(01:38:32):
ten years is significantly in favor of them. I mean,
there was a guy named Tom Brady there, but exacts
are not the team they were even a year ago.
I know you're you're right. Look see there's no question.
I don't know. I mean, is it all smoking mirrors series?
I think it's I think that what I think what
the oddsmakers are looking at the history of of Belchick

(01:38:52):
versus the Jets instead of looking at where both teams are. Now,
that's a fair way to put it, and I would
put it that way, Like I'll give you another example.
So the spread on the Baltimore game at Baltimore is
like a one a half point favorite. My personal line
for that game would have been Fournan for five Baltimore.
So I was like, cool, Well, because they just don't
think Brady could continue to lose. That's got to be

(01:39:14):
a part of because if you just look at the
personnel for both teams, Baltimore is in a far superior
situation now here with the Jets, they're going to change
up the running game. They acquired James Robinson from the Jaguars.
He'll make his debut tomorrow. Beautiful too. Yeah, and they
need him because with Breece Hall loft for the season
with the significant knee and jury, he might not be
ready for until next fall. They had to get a

(01:39:35):
power back to compliment my Carter as the second year
running back. Their defense, by the way, they haven't had
a defense like this since Rex Rex Ryan was the
head coach. The front's phenomenal. And by the way that
the Patriots are without their starting center, David Andrews has
got a concussion. That's gonna be a problem. Kirk Ference's
son James is the starting center, you know. By the way,
Quinn Williams is having the best year of his career

(01:39:56):
and he's gonna line up over him. I'm with you
to me, the Jots have to be the favorite here. Alright,
one more quick question here. What's a more likely scenario
the Jets being in the Patriots at home or the
Giants being in the Seahawks on the road because underdogs. Yeah,
I I like the Seahawks in this game and the

(01:40:17):
Giants without two starting offensive line and that wears me.
I know, they added a great win at Jacksonville. Then
they have to fly out west, you know, five and
six hour flight, changing three time zones. Seattle's shocked the world.
The only issue I have is with DK Metcalf and
that that knee. They don't know if he's gonna play.
But I like Seattle, like Jano Smith is the most

(01:40:37):
improved player in the national football Like folks, no one
saw this coming. I don't care what anyone says. No
one saw it is pe Carroll up for Coach of
the Year. We're gonna be the worst team in the league.
I'm not gonna lie. I I look at over undertotals
for the season and I definitely like them under the six. Yeah,
I'm shocked at four and three. Now, again, it's only
seven weeks, so let's not put Pete Carrol up there yet.

(01:40:59):
But of Shane Walter and their offensive cordinator has done
a great job in Geno Smith. You know he's not
hesitant throwing the football anymore. It's way more decisive and
that's certainly shown every week. Think about this. They have
the Giants at home, at the Cardinals, Bucks at home,
Raiders at home. That's the next few games for the Sea.
Not easy, but winnable. Winnable sure, sure, no, they look
when you have one winnable schedule, that's all. If you're

(01:41:21):
Seahawks fan with Gino Smith and you're you're you're in
first place, I feel pretty good. Always unpredictable, but a
guy that makes sense of all of it, that would
be our Fox Sports Radio NFL insider Adam Kaplan, Adam
great time is always so talk to you next week, guys.
That cute. That's Adam Caplan there. All right, let's find
out what's trending right now. As we turn right back
to Brian Finley, he's got all the news out there

(01:41:44):
on a busy day in college football, Ephraim and Steve.
If I was walking around with an Oklahoma State football
jersey on today, I'd probably take that off like yesterday.
Considering the way this team is playing right now. They
have brought in Mike Gundie's son, the lock On as
a quarterback. Maybe he can generate some offense. I mean
gunner Gunner Gundy. Is that a name for a quarterback,

(01:42:08):
Gunner Gundy gun Yeah, he's over one right, yeah, so
he is in. And just to be fair, Spencer Sanders,
the starting quarterback, exited because of an apparent shoulder injury.
But it wasn't like he was doing much out there.
It's forty one to nothing, number twenty two kans State.
Kansas State over the Cowboys twelve forty nine left in
the fourth quarter in a game that can be seen

(01:42:30):
on Fox Television. Not a whole lot of offense for
number of ten a week four is nothing to show
for in that department in the third quarter while their
defense has given up twenty eight points in the third frame.
It's Louisville just smacking around the deeks forty one to fourteen.
Late in the third quarter. Number seventeen Illinois trying to
fend off Nebraska and it's twenty three nine Illinois with

(01:42:53):
twelve twenty remaining. And then an interesting score here in
a game in Orlando with U c f railing Number
twenty Cincinnati thirteen to ten, thirteen twenty four left in
the final quarter. There to some of the completed games
of note. Number sixteen Syracuse goes down at home for
the first time after they get embarrassed by Notre Dame

(01:43:15):
forty one to twenty four. Number seven TCU pulls ahead
and hangs on against West Virginia forty one to thirty one,
while number thirteen ben State had a five point lead
in the fourth quarter and they let it slip away
twenty fourth quarter points for Number two Ohio State forty
four to thirty one, and Nitney Alliance quarterback Sean Clifford

(01:43:37):
was a turnover turnstyle three picks and also that key
fumble that he gave up in the fourth quarter. As
far as some news and notes from the NFL, we
do know that Titans quarterback Malik Willis, the rookie is
going to be making his starting debut this upcoming weekend
after Ryan Tannehill is still ill and he is officially

(01:43:58):
ruled out, did not participate and team walk through today.
The Cowboys have tagged running back Ezekiel Elliott as doubtful
for their upcoming game on Sunday, while Bengals wade receiver
Jamaar Chase is out this week with a hip injury,
but the team is hopeful to get him back before
four weeks time, which is why they're not sending him
to injured reserve. Steelers kicker Chris Boswell is set to

(01:44:20):
miss Sunday versus the Eagles with a hurt groin, Patriot
safety Kyle Dugger as a scratch this weekend, and finally,
I from and Steve. Texans wide receiver Nico Collins was
downgraded two out for Sunday's game against the Titans due
to a groin injury. Now, let's get it back to
two guys despite any injury they might be facing are

(01:44:41):
always here. They've always had their game face on. It's
e from Salam and Steve Hartman. B Fam. Yeah, you
are the man right there, Brian family joining us and
doing a great job as always Brian, We appreciate that.
Uh quick story here out of the NFL. There's a
number of owners in the n five No, I don't

(01:45:01):
know if you noticed this from that do not behave
well and they get away with it because they're billionaire
owners and there's no police in them. Because the commissioner
is a employee of the owners. He's being paid forty
million dollars a yearners by the owners to protect them.

(01:45:22):
Jim er Say, Um, this is a back and forth
right now between Jim er Say and Daniel Snyder. Neither
one of them are pent squeaky clean to say the
least in their behavior. Does this in any way? They
go back and forth on who's who's worse and who's

(01:45:42):
getting away with more in terms of just ill behavior?
Does this? Is there anything anything they can be done
to derail the machine that is the NFL? Anything? I mean.
We talked about CT, we talked about spouse will be
we talked about inappropriate behavior, by players, by coaches, by owners.

(01:46:05):
Is there anything that could possibly even interrupt the momentum
that the NFL has as a gross and grows. Well,
the momentum is because of the fandom. Yes, Um, there's
very few things now in the entertainment space that people

(01:46:28):
watch live. Sports is one of those things. And the
biggest sport in this country is football. It's the NFL.
So with that notion, you know on Sunday, Monday, Thursday,
sometime Saturday, even a Tuesday and Wednesday occasionally that when

(01:46:52):
an NFL game is on, more viewers will watch that
than anything else. So when that comes to premium price
in terms for advertisers, um and TV deals and all
of these things, and that's what that's where the power
lies in the NFL. So people will always watch no

(01:47:12):
matter what. You can have bad behavior by owners, All
owners don't exhibit bad behavior. You can have bad behavior
by players. All players don't exhibit bad behavior. So you know,
you can't lump in the total from the few. And

(01:47:33):
and I think that's that's that situation where you know, hey,
we all we sit here, we have sports shows. If
there was no NFL, then what will we talk about? Well,
think about this. So for years the World Series used
to have it's always a two three two format, right,

(01:47:53):
And it used to be Saturday Sunday day off, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday day off, Saturday Sunday. They don't do that anymore.
They now play Friday, Saturday, Sunday off, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday off Friday Saturday. Well, what do that Sunday and

(01:48:14):
Thursday have in common? NFL football and you're having the
biggest event in your season, and you're steering around Week nine,
the middle of the NFL season to make sure you
don't get demolished with your biggest event head to head. Yes,
that is the that is the fact. That is the

(01:48:36):
reality of the situation. So when you ask me what
can derail the NFL, UM when I figure it out,
I'll let you know. All right, coming up on the
other side, we are going to get some predictions out.

We've got some big college football games still to come
later on today, a full NFL schedule. What are the
best bets we're gonna tell you? Coming up next? Steve

(01:49:23):
Hartman and I from salam It is Fox Football Saturday
once again live from the ti iraq dot com studios.
Want to thank the guys today, starting with well, Iowa
Sam was here. I don't know if he's still here.
He wants to basically savor every second. Is that a
final score? Finally? I think Iowa finally, uh officially got
the victory against Northwestern. So he was thrilled about that

(01:49:46):
powerhouse Northwestern. And then the real Don Brown. He is real, real,
real Don Brown. There's something between the two of you know.
That's fine. I don't know. There's just something there. Something
we just don't allow Don to talk. I don You've

(01:50:09):
talked when he's not here with me over the years.
Notice that when DEEBOI be gone, I'll be talking to Gain.
You see that, we'll ignore you. Brian Finlay, of course,
bringing us up to date on a very busy day
in college football, and then of course Danny g Are,
a steam producer who unfortunately no Shannon spake today. She

(01:50:31):
was traveling today flying the friendly sky. She misses us.
I know that, Danny. Are you big, very confident right
now and your Raiders game tomorrow? Confident in the offense
right now? The defense still worries me. I hope they
get it together. But yeah, Josh Jacobs is just last
week we talked about how much of a monster he'd

(01:50:52):
been in the past few weeks and what he broke,
not one, but two records last week. What were those records?
He had twenty carries und forty three yards, three touchdowns
and that victory against the Texans. What records you say, Marcus, Well,
it was the first time since Bo Jackson and Marcus
Allen ran for consecutive one yard games. He ran for
a third, so that's a new Raider record. And then

(01:51:14):
he broke Marcus Allen's record for the most rushing yards
in Rader history for the first fifty games of a career. Yeah,
where do you find that record listed? Is what I
want to know. Well, that's why Marcus Allen was there
sitting next to uh, your buddy Mark Davis, last week. Yes,
I saw that. That's interesting because I look Mark. I

(01:51:36):
I could sit here all day long talking about Mark Davis.
But one thing I know about Mark Davis as opposed
to his father, He's not going to pretend that he
knows anything about football. But as a businessman, don't be
to see by that dumber, dumber haircut. The guy is
a smart businessman. He knows how to do business. Um.

(01:51:59):
By the way, final score e from Kansas State Oklahoma State. Nothing.
Come on, a team averaging forty four points a game,
ranked number nine in the country, lost forty eight to nothing. Now,

(01:52:21):
Mike Gundhi, it's been at Oklahoma State a long time,
He's had success. He's a man. I'm forty. His most
infamous quote, I'm a man. What do you say? What
think Mike Gundy said to his team walking into the
locker room after that to nothing. I don't think you
say anything. I really don't. I mean, it's not much

(01:52:44):
you can say. It's getting on the buses and get
out of here about you know you without physically wanting
to lash out and hurt someone. I think you just
gotta just you gotta swallow this one and keep it
pushing I mean that is just look at that. Look
at that forty eight to nothing a team averaging forty

(01:53:04):
four points. Again, they're only lost a forty three to
forty loss on the road against still undefeated t c U,
the number nine intent team in college football. Are getting walloped. Yeah,
well that's what we've been talking about his separations. We
started the day with six undefeated teams. We still have

(01:53:25):
six undefeated teams. A couple of them are playing a
little bit later on. Today. We've got Tennessee hosting Kentucky.
Hennin Hooker has been number one of my Heistman list
the last couple of weeks after beating Alabama, Kentucky is
not a walkover. Five and two nine in the country.

(01:53:46):
Tennessee eleven half point favorite. Their USC back in action
this week. They're on the road against Arizona USC. Of course,
uh coming off that loss on the road to Utah
forty three to forty too. So let's see if the
Trojans can get back on the winning track. They should
against that Arizona team. And in Michigan seven and all

(01:54:08):
were you. I was a little weirded out in this
offseason when Jim Harbaugh openly courted that Minnesota Vikings job.
I wasn't I thought he was gonna leave. He finally
got to be Ohio State, right right, made it to
the College Football playoffs. Hey, um, but this is after

(01:54:31):
Michigan reduced his salary and all of these things. So
I think if Minnesota wanted him, I think he would
have left. Well, they didn't want him, though, and it
looks like they picked the right guy, at least so
far for the Minnesota Right now. Yeah, Michigan taking on
Michigan State and and a lot of people are asking, well,
will we have a battle of unbeaten's when Michigan and

(01:54:53):
Ohio State play. I'm gonna say yes because I'm looking
at the overall Big Ten this year outside in Michigan.
I mean, we've seen Michigan blew out Penn State last week,
in Ohio State took care of business on the road
against Penn State today. I don't see anything out of
the Big Ten this year outside of Michigan and Ohio State.
You're right, So that's a game that's gonna be a

(01:55:15):
battle of little makeup player for Ohio State. I look
at some of these NFL games tomorrow. We talked both
about that strange line. Well, let me ask you a question.
I asked Adam Caplan, what is a more likely scenario
the Jets beating the Patriots at home as a two
and a half point underdog, or the Giants winning on

(01:55:37):
the road against the Seahawks, where the Giants, by the
way three and on the road this year are three
point Underdock was the more likely scenario the Giants or
Jets winning this week? The Jets a more likely or
unlikely likely? I think the Jets winn. So you'll like
the Seahawks at home against the Giants. I think it'll
be difficult um for the Giants up in Seattle. The

(01:56:04):
way the Seattle runs the ball the twelfth man and
the way Gino is playing doesn't turn the ball over
a lot, So I think it'll be a difficult task
for the Giants. But I like the Jet uh playing.
You know, New England. All right, Well, let's talk about
a game you're going to tomorrow. The Rams are hosting

(01:56:24):
the forty Niners. Your first trip to Sofi Stadium, be prepared.
That place is gigantic. It's like ridiculous, how big that
stadium is. Forty Niners lose their first game with Christian McCaffrey.
Who do you like in that game tomorrow? Three and
four or forty Niners on the road against the three
and three Rams. Two teams trying to figure it out

(01:56:45):
at the pivotal game to determine the direction you want
to do you want to pivot to this season? So um,
the Rams have struggled to beat the Niners. Man, there's
no no Deebo Samuel, So the Rams have the upper
Do you like Tots? You know Tater Tots. Order him tomorrow.

(01:57:06):
You'll love him. H
