There is no NFL without this guy. He's my partner.
He's the man. Love talking football with him. I learned
so much with him. He is the man of the hour.
Mr Bucky Brooks, Hello, Buck, how are you? I'm good.
I'm good. I'm good. What's going on? I'm doing It
sounds great? You look even better. You know, there's so
(00:45):
much going on that we've passed the fifty yard line
in the season. It's a halfway point, it's finished, and
the separation factor is there right now, I think. I mean,
so many people had picked Buffalo back in July to
win and all they look like they're kind of having
some problems right now. So speed bubs. But I asked
you right now, as we passed the fifty yard line,
your teams. I know you were a San Francisco forty
(01:07):
nine a guy. You said they're going to the Super Bowl,
one of the three teams in Buckey Brooks mind that
really and truly have separated themselves from the rest of
the pack. I think the Kand City Chiefs. I think
Cansy the Chiefs maybe the best team in football just
based on how Patrick Mahomes is playing, the addition to
ca Darius Tony, I think they are going They're gonna
(01:27):
be the team that represents in the a f C.
I am still strong in bullish on the San Francisco
forty niners, even though their record doesn't justify maybe my
adoration form at this point, But I believe that is
going to be the team that gets hid down the
stretch and they're going to be in the mix. And
then the final team, I'm still gonna stick with the
Philadelphia Eagles. I know they had a bad loss the
(01:50):
Washington Commanders, but their resume right now and suggests to
me that they are going to be one team that
we talked about in the final four. So give me
Kansas City giving the forty and honors give me a
feeling the Eagles, those are the teams that I'm not Okay,
I'm gonna mention a team, and I don't think there's
super Bowl worthy, But I think that their coach basically
doesn't get the amount of respect he deserves. I've told
(02:10):
about Mike Rabel, the coach of the Tennessee Titans. I mean,
here's a guy that has taken a team and has
done so much really with not much really not much talent.
Had a great running back, for sure, an average quarterback
ho could get the job done, but certainly not a
tremendous quarterback, not a Hall of Famer. And then they
beat up on the They beat up on Green Baby
of the Night sevent team with Tannehill really out playing
(02:34):
Aaron Rodgers. But I think Mike Rabel really and truly
deserves a lot more credit than he gets. I think
he should have been Coach of the Year a year ago.
Oh he absolutely should be a coach of your candidate.
And what the Tennessee Titans do is remarkable as they
stick to their identity. And I would say that I'm
gonna look at this team and I look at their roster.
I don't believe they're a super talented team, but I
(02:57):
think their toughness to effort and their actics. I think
he does a great job game by game taking people
out of their comfort zone, and they always kind of
find a way to remain in there's they're gonna run
the football, they're gonna play solid situational football, they're gonna
make sure that they're kicking, game is tight, and they
don't beat themselves. That's on. Those teams implode when you
(03:20):
put them under pressure, and they've done a great job
in making teams implode. It's amazing. Really Green Bay right
now losing to them on Thursday night at four and seven,
they've lost six out of seven right now, and really
they were handed the game. I mean, and the question
right now, and I said coming into the segment is
a time of some love. I'm talking about Jordan's Love maybe,
And the rumors are out there swirling that maybe Aaron
(03:43):
Rodgers to be benched, and I tell you, I think
it's just media storyline material, because how do you bench
a guy who's going to be in the Hall of Fame,
who's certainly a better quarterback than Jordan's Love will ever be,
and Jordan Love doesn't have any experience, how do you
just push the guy to the sidelines. Moreover, I don't
think you do that for for his psyche or just
(04:05):
don't embarrass the guy by doing that. What do you think?
And I think if you're in a business of winning games,
I think everybody is subject to evaluation. If you feel
like Aaron Rodgers isn't playing up to the to the standard,
then Jordan Love has to be the next guy up.
I think when we look at the fact that, man,
it's been like a season, like a full season since
(04:26):
Aaron Rodgers has last had a three yard game, he's
not playing well. And I don't think you can necessarily
just justify keeping him in the lineup because he's a
Hall of Famer. If this team finds this way back
in the race and he's not playing other stuff, I
think you have to give Jordan's Love um an opportunity.
And I'm not saying that he has to be the guy,
but at some point you have to move on. And
(04:47):
what the Packers did, and this is unfortunate, they scrapped
their original plans. Part of the reason why they drafted
Jordan's Love is because they felt like there was some
regression in Aaron Rodgers, and yes, he played at the
back to back m VP level. But if the original
plan was to move on from him at a certain date,
they should have moved on from him, because I think
(05:11):
this is more of a baseball add But it's better
to move on from a player a year too early
than a year too late, because then they paid him
and the crusted their salary camp situation going forward. Yeah,
they should have moved on from the guy. You don't
see thirty eight year old quarterbacks played with Tom Brady Sports.
But at thirty eight years old, most quarterbacks don't play
at highlan Well. I will say this, but Aaron Rodgers
(05:32):
last week the Thursday night, it was seven, which tells
me he's making the completions, but they don't have any
distance on those completions. They're like five six seven yard completions.
And he's throwing the balls to like rookies like Christian Watson.
I mean, he doesn't have much to to throw too.
So I'm defending him, I really am. I just think
it would be a shame the bench, the guy, and
(05:53):
it's an embarrassment, it really is. For a guy like
Jordan Love, who really has no control over this ball club,
who has never really played. How do you do that
in the midstream of a season? All right, So here's
the reality of profo ball. Your production has to match
your compensation. When Aaron Rodgers decided he wanted to be
(06:14):
a fifty million dollar man, then it took the opportunities
away for the team to upgrade the weapons around him.
If winning was the factor for him, then he takes less,
allows him to pay other guys more, and he has
a better supporting cast around him. But as you pay
the quarterback more, the expectations are the quarterback elevates everybody
(06:35):
around him. When he decided that the money was the fact,
it was the big issue when I wiped it away,
and so we can't then say, oh, he doesn't have
anybody around him. We decided he wanted to be the
highest paid at that position, and so he made his statement.
He leaned into the money as opposed to the team,
and so now his job is to elevate what he
(06:57):
has around. Well, here we just sing, but there's a
similar situation way back when when the Baltimore Ravens won
the Super Bowl, they put all that money in the
quarterback as well, and they kind of went downhill a
little bit. I understand that. And look, you know, sometimes
you have to be not as selfish as you think
you up. But you know that quarterback position certainly is
so important. You know that better than anybody. But I
(07:19):
think sometimes, uh, the quarterback situation, when you give that
money out there to the quarterback, he's got to realize
that I don't have anything else to work with with
this ball club. Was the money is all mine? You know,
winning may be more important than money for some or
maybe money is more important because I saw what happened
in the offseason. They have a Kyler Murray and everybody else.
(07:40):
When one guy gets this amount, the other guy wants
to be a little bit more than the other one.
It's crazy, it really is. It really is crazy. But
it speaks to you the quarterback. If the quarterback wants
to be the guy who wins, then you want to
take everything. But if he wants all the coins when,
then he's going to have to deal with that other stuff.
(08:00):
And we've seen it. Quarterbacks have to make I mean,
they have to make the decision because when we talked
about quarterbacks, we're talking about a fifty million dollar commitment,
whereas whey we talk about the market positions elsewhere. You
talked about twenty millions, so over double the amount to
get marquee players at other spots. That's what you're paying
(08:20):
the quarterback. So when you decide to make the quarterback
special like that, you have to sacrifice in some areas.
And so the Tactus and left to the sacrifice in
some areas because they wanted to keep Aaron Rodgers, and
Aaron Rodgers had them in a pinch, had them in
a bind. He fully took advantage of his leverage. And
so now I don't feel bad for him. This is
(08:42):
what he wanted. He wanted all the money, He got
all the money, and so now you have to live
with all the other stuff. Okay, I see that situation
developing here where I live in the Cincinnati area with
Joe Burrow. Okay, he's gonna be getting a fifty million
dollar contract down the road. But if he does, or
when he does, how are the Bengals gonna be able
to play in a smaller market? How can they play
Jamaar Chase Trey Higgins? How can they play the Tyler Boyd?
(09:04):
They can't, And look and they're running back mixing. They
won't be able to pay those guys. And remember this
is a smaller market than the big time l A Atlanta,
San Francisco, New York. They can't do it in Cincinnati now,
they can't. So they have to make decisions, all right.
So if I mean, without being fully aware of the
contract situations right now, if you keep Joe Burrow, one
(09:26):
of those wide receivers is going to be gone. I
would probably say Tyler Boyd exits stage right. They draft
somebody to feel that situation, and then Joe Mixing will
be the next guy that becomes expendable because it is
easier maybe to draft a running back, but you will
not be able to retain and keep everybody. It's been
a great run in Cincinnati. They went to the super Bowl,
(09:48):
but when you have to pay Joe Burrow, some other
guys are gonna have to leave. Al Right, We move
on right now because I got a bigger question. This
is more important. This affects more people, it really does.
The Washington Commanders the other day discipline a handful of
their players for violating a league rule about drinking on
a team plane, and the lead is not gonna take
(10:10):
any more action about this. This is confirmed just the
other day now here's the deal. I never heard of
this rule. You played the game. Is there a rule
that you can't drink on the team plane. I've been
on several team planes with the Cincinnati Bengals coming back
from a ball game, going to I never saw anyone
drinking coming back. I can honestly say there was a
couple of cans of beer that were cracked on that
(10:31):
ball on that airplane. Uh. So let's go back, because
you always like to do story time. So back in
the day when I played in the nineties, Uh, this
was very, very prevalent. So what happened, what used to
happen is when you would get on the plane, Uh,
in your seat, there would be two beers for every player.
(10:52):
I wasn't a drinker, so people would take my beers,
my beers and go somewhere else. And that was like
a part of the multre at the time. However, when
you think about it, Uh, it's probably not the most
sensible thing because you land in your destination, you land back,
let's say in Green Bay, when now everyone has to
get to their car and drive wherever they go home
(11:14):
or out or whatever. So it's probably not smart to
provide beer for your people to drink and then they drive,
and then you have a situation that ends up very
similar to what you saw in Tennessee. But their office
recordinated tied down, right. So after uh, probably a series
of incidents, the NFL instituted a rule where you cannot
(11:38):
serve alcohol on the bus or the plane. And so,
even though it's not one that may have been heavily
enforced on the surface, when you have these incidents that
have popped up, the NFL has to send out the
memo and remind people, hey, this is what's going on.
And because the commanders boldly put pitch is out there
(12:00):
in the social media space, Yeah, they got picks. They
put them sales out there, and that's what it is.
But if you put it probably yeah, but if you
think about it, it probably is not the smartest thing
to provide alcohol for your players when they're gonna come
back and have to eventually drive, whether you use the
team bus to get from the airport back to facility
(12:22):
or whatever, at some point they're gonna have to get
behind the wheel. And so you just don't want to
have guys drinking and driving. That's why you're here every
Sunday with me to smack me around, hit me in
the back of ahead and say, you're right. I never
even thought about the driving scenario after you get up
the plane. I thought that take having to drink prior
to to the game. Going to the game, that's stupid,
(12:44):
I mean, because you could probably have a walk through,
maybe even a practice. You just don't do that. But
after the game to unwind on the plane, I said,
you know, I don't have a problem with that. As
I say, I've seen many a team player on the
Bengals doing that, cracking up with a couple of is
on the way home, uh, in the back of the plane. Obviously,
maybe the coaching staff was not aware of it. I
(13:05):
don't know. And I never knew what this rule until
I read this the other day. Kind of this unwritten
rule really about this commander's thing hitting disciplined for drinking
on the plane. Didn't know about it. Thank you, Thank
you Bucky Brooks for straightening me out on that. I
never knew that I got two beers a shot. I
mean two beers. Every player got two beers getting on
the plane. That's a pretty good deal, really, I mean
(13:27):
at the minimum. I mean, I can sell you more
stories about when I played for a certain team on Thursdays,
it was designated beer in Pizza Day. So after Pravae,
when you would come in to the facility, there would
be a bucket fillip ears and boxes and pieces and
you would grab you beers, you grab you piece and
you go into the film room and watch film with
(13:47):
your PC and beer. So, I mean, it's been a
long time since the nights, but that's how the Nassal
Football League used to be. Wow, unbelievable. He's Bucky Brooks.

was quite the full that's right around the corner about
twenty two minutes past the hour. This is Fox Football Sunday.
He's Buckey Brooks and Andy Furman and let's get right
(14:52):
into it on the football field today. The Bears are
at the Falcons today, and Buck, I would say this,
looking from a di and sent me, You've got two
teams that are under five hundred Bears three and seven,
Falcons four and six. Both teams are really dominant on
the ground with the ground game, but they struggle in
the air. But I tell you what, just Justin Fields
(15:12):
right now, I gotta believe the Chicago Bears are somewhat happy.
I think they found their future quarterback right now. Two
games stretch with Justin Fields, he sat regular season single
game records for most rushing guards by a quarterback against
Miami had a hundred and seventy eight that was in
Week nine, and he followed it up with a hundred
forty seven rushing yards less Sunday against Detroit, although the
(15:32):
Bears did lose to the Lions. So I think that
Justin Fields is the bright spot for this bull club.
And if you watch that game list with the Lions
Bears game, I would tell you that Justin Fields may
very well have been the best athlete on the field,
absolutely the best athlete on the field. And I think
what's remarked about Justin field story is the Chicago Bears
(15:53):
drafted a quarterback who I don't believe they knew could
run around and do these things based on how he
played at Ohio State. He can play like this. He
didn't play like a quarterback that was a true duel threat.
They didn't really utilize him in the run game. They
didn't run quarterback powers and a lot of read options
stuff with him. He played traditional quarterback um and so
a lot of people are wondering why the Bears didn't
(16:15):
lean into this earlier. But there was no evidence that
he could do this. There was no evidence that he
would be one of the best runners that we've seen
at the quarterback position. Yeah, but he had his Pro
Day and he ran uh set up four four and
you look at his numbers and he's you know, six
to six, three two or thirty pounds, you still didn't
know he could do this. And you know, really and
(16:38):
truly drafting a quarterback out of Ohio States a gamble anyway,
because the quarterbacks that have gone from Ohio State to
the NFL have really not been have not fared well,
and just just the way it is, I mean, they're
not a quarterback haven as far as drafting is concerned.
But you know, right now, he's the man, he really is.
And you know what, you talk about that game last
week as the Lions, he was involved than all four
(17:00):
of the Bears touchdowns. He threw for two, he ran
for two more, and there's a pass he was something
like one sixties seven and it was pretty impressive. He
really was. So we'll see what happens today. And I
think that the Bears right now, and know what for
that this extra point last week, they should have beat
the Lions. But I think that the Bears beat the
Falcons today. I really do. I think overall they're a
(17:20):
better team Falcons A week on defense, yeah, the week
on defense, but one area where the Falcons are strong
is the run game. And so this game really will
be determined on or decided by the team that is
able to kind of impose their will and control the action. Uh.
The Chicago Bears. Look, they're they're solid on on offense.
(17:41):
They've been able to run the football, and running the
football can mask some of their flaws. But they they're
not the same team defensively. No Robert Quinn, no Roquan Smith. Uh,
they've struggled on defense since those guys have departed. And
so this is a game where who gets the opening kick,
who's able to drive to lett of the field utilize
is in the ring game. So I can say that
(18:02):
the Falcons defense is weak, but because they can run
the football right back at the Bears, it's tough. I
think this ends up being a toss up. This game
has decided like most games are decided in the fourth quarter,
but I wouldn't dismiss the Falcons um In fact, the
Falcons have played better than the Bears. The Bears a
little flash year, and I think this is a coin
flip and this could be one of those games decided
(18:24):
by which team has the position last. True, that's very true. Yeah,
one of those things. But by the way, the Bears,
they don't have the worst record in the NFL. But
get with what they could be the first team knocked
out of division title contention if they lose today. Is
things currently stand. Look at this, every single team in
the NFL is mathematically alive when it comes to winning
their division, and that includes the Texans, really, and they're
(18:47):
actually sitting at one seven and one of the Texas.
But despite the record, the Texans could still win the division.
It would take a monumental collapsed by the Titans, of course,
But the point is that the Houston Texans are still
mathematically alive. The Bears lose today, according to statistical information,
they are out of it as far as divisional racist concerns.
So it's a it's a big game for them, I guess.
(19:08):
But they know they're not going anywhere anyway but the
Browns and Bills, and they're going to Detroit today because
of the snow. Have you heard anything like that before?
I mean, the amount of snow in Buffalo, that's unreal.
And I don't know why Buffalo didn't get the hell
out of town on Thursday when the snow was coming down.
Why they wait to yesterday? Yeah, I don't know. Normally,
what you do is and and this is all done
(19:29):
like head coach works with the team of UH people
who handle the logistics when it comes to the weekly
travel plans, whether it's a home game or away game,
they coordinate like UH bus flights, hotels, how you get
to and from the stadium, and all those things. And
so I'm surprised they didn't have a plan in place
(19:51):
and that they went so late, or that the decision
was made so late for how they were going to
handle it. UH. Normally cold weather situations, these things are prevalent.
Your Green Bay's, your Cleveland's, your Buffalo's. You have a
play that's in place, and so I'm a little surprised. UH.
And maybe it was just the um devastation of the
snowstorm that changed how the Buffalo Bills operated, But this
(20:14):
should have been something that was fairly easy to coordinate
and think about, how do we want to get the
team out, how do we want to get them to
a safe location? Where can we get to But a
lot of it the league didn't let the team though.
I don't think until Friday that the game would be
played in Detroit. Amazing, it really is. And I saw
some TV clips yesterday of fans and this Buffalo Mafia
(20:38):
helping the players dig out of their driveway, so did
have cars to drive to the airport to get out
of town. It was unbelievable. Really well, I mean, I
mean that's Buffalo, that's Bills Mafia. Like there are certain
things about small town teams that are specific to them,
So we think about Bills Mafia. Whatever you need as
a player there man, the city will help you out.
(20:59):
We've seen Mafia take care of players on their team
and outside of it, donating money to their wishes and
doing those things. So that's just kind of a part
of the fabric of Buffalo. I am not surprised to
hear about uh fans going to shuff snow to make
sure that their players we have an opportunity to get
out of the driveway, get to pratt Is, get to
(21:20):
the airport, whatever they needed. I'm not surprised that Buffalo
h stepped up amazing. I mentioned that this was quite
the fall coming into this segment. Let's talk about Buffalo's
fall that began last Sunday as the conferences projected number
one seed, which means obviously home field advantage in first round.
By by the end of the day, the Bills had
fallen to third place in the a f C East
(21:42):
and sixth in the conference standings. And look, I get
it that it's all about their quarterback and uh, you know,
if he's not healthy, so goes to ball club. That's
basically the way it is. But there's a big game
for Buffalo. They gotta win today. And you know, Cleveland's
capable of beating them. They really are. But we'll see
what happens with buff Flow today. They've lost too straight
and that lost to the Jets at Minnesota. Yeah, the
(22:05):
Buffalo Bills are a tricky one. They're a tricky one because, uh,
I would say their quarterback, when he's played at his best,
he elevates the team. But they've really been a little
bit of a one man team with him kind of
being I think they're kind of like a whell. Right,
he's the hub and everything revolves around him. But defensively,
(22:25):
this is a team that plays team defense. But I
don't know if they have stars. And we look at
some of the injuries, Mica High being out, Jordan Poor
or uh being in and out of the line of
Tevious White kind of still working back from the knee
and and those things. They're not what I would say
a team full of blue Chippers playing at their best
right now. And so yeah, there's some concern. And because
(22:46):
the quarterback has started to turn the ball over down
in the red zone, Uh, there's issue. Turnovers are really
crippling this team because the margin for air is now
smaller than probably the smallest that has ever been. And
so that's why you see him more losses pop up
on this schedule. I know you're going with Buffalo, but
I'm going with the Browns. I just have a feeling
that in the mind between the ears, the psyche of
(23:09):
the Bills, I think they've lost that confidence. They have
that feeling right now. Maybe I'm crazy that, you know,
can we still win? I just think I think that
Cleveland's Cleveland's there for the for the right timing right now.
I think Cleveland get gets them today. I mean Cleveland
could get him dead. Running game is problematic. You know
the way to Cleveland Browns run the football a lot
(23:29):
of times. It is if you're Buffalo, can you control
the run and make the game become a Jacoby Brisset game.
It's easier said than done, but that's how this game
has to kind of play out. It has to play
out with uh. Jacoby bris said, having to make enough
plays to win the game. If you do that, if
if you're the Bills and you get that, or you
feel great about your chances to win, there we go. Okay,
(23:49):
he's Bucky Brooks. I made from it. By the way,
what a Sunday for Saturday. That's coming up next on
Fox Sports Sunday right here on Football Sunday as well
well live for Tirack dot com Studios. But first his
di Culpital the sports Good morning, Andy, Good morning, Bucky.
Good Alright, guys, got some news coming in here this morning.
(24:11):
NFL Meta reporting that Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett is handing
play calling duties over to quarterbacks coach Clint Kubiak, so
a development there, uh. ESPN reports the Eagles expect tight
end Dallas Goddard to return from his shoulder injury during
the regular season. He was just placed on injured reserve
this week. Not good news for the Rams zone receiver
(24:34):
Cooper Cup ESPN reporting that his timetable is six to
eight weeks with that high ankle sprain. So unless the
Rams are able to make a run here and get
into the playoffs. There's a good chance we do not
see him again this season. NFL Meta reporting that the
Cowboys and Giants have emerged as two favorites to land
Odell Beckham Jr. The free agent receiver, is set to
(24:56):
visit both teams after Thanksgiving. In turn of who's in
and who's out, got a list of guys that are
expected to play for the Chargers. Receivers Keenan Allen and
Mike Williams are back in the lineup for Sunday night
football against the Chiefs. Raiders receiver Deavante Adams, Ravens, quarterback
Lamar Jackson, Ravens tight end Mark Andrews, and Cowboys running
(25:17):
back Ezekiel Elliott all expected to play today. Baltimore running
back Gus Edwards, however, is not likely to play in
Lake College football action on Saturday night. Number seven U
s C with a forty eight to win over number
sixteen U c l A Trojans have clinched the spot
in the Pack twelve title game. Number twelve Oregon hung
(25:38):
on to beat number ten Utah seventeen, so with the
win next week, the Ducks will join USC in that
Pack twelve title game. Number fifteen Kansas State had a
big win over West Virginia one. K State is in
the Big twelve championship game against TCU if the Wildcats
beat Kansas next week. Georgia Tech overcame a seven and
(26:00):
seen nothing deficit and handed number thirty North Carolina at
second los. Number five Tennessee was effectively eliminated from playoff
contention as they got blown out by South Carolina sixty
three to thirty eight, and Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker left
the game with an apparent leg injury in the fourth quarter.
Let's go back to Andy Furman and Bucky Brunks. Thank
(26:21):
you so much seeing about an hour and what about
your tiles, Buck Gatar heels lost just I was shocked.
That hurts me when they lose. Now, look, man, it
was really disappointing to see them lose. Drake May was
putting himself in a position to be really a strong
Heisman Trophy candidate, but they didn't play well. And you know,
(26:42):
like Georgia Tech has this hold on them where the
last couple of years they've beating him. Uh, they played
with their third string quarterback, and I honestly believe that
the Carolina I mean Guitar Heels didn't take them seriously,
didn't respect him enough, probably didn't put in the kind
of preparation that they needed, and in a game in
which they ran out to a seventeen O league, I
(27:02):
think they took a bit foot off the gas and
when they had an opportunity to um seal the game
and multiple points, they couldn't. And when you let a
team like that hang around, they begin to get confidence
and then you find yourself in the battle. And unfortunately
Guitar hel was cann make enough place at the end
of winter. I know, I felthy I really did that
sort of final score, but bad things happened to him
(27:24):
because this team will get to that in just about
a minute. By the way, Bucky remembers about seven eight
minutes from now, let's talk about the Eagles of the Colts,
because Jeff Saturday right now is one to know as
a coach. I'm happy for the guy, I really am,
because there was so much negativity. I mean, Bill Cowroll
went nuts. He went nuts last week, and it's it's disrespectful,
it's not fair for the other clus. Hey, let me
tell you something. Those other assistant coaches on that staff.
(27:45):
They had their shot as head coaches. They had their shot,
really and they didn't get it done. Give Saturday the
shot there. I'm happy for him and the coach Top
Vegas twenty last week. And Matt Ryan's back a quarterback
as well. Well. A couple of things, Jeff Saturday being
my guy. Uh. We were in school, kind of ships
passing in the night. I was graduating as he was
(28:07):
coming in, but we stayed in contact while he was
playing there and then beyond because he's had success as
a pro uh and talking to Jeff and knowing Jeff
because Jeff was a high school coach for three years
and a lot of people gave him it was kind
of funny, right it was to mean he's the high
school coach who now takes over the coach. The one
reason why I believe that Jeff Saturday was appointed in
(28:28):
a room coaches because he knows the culture of the building.
Meaning when the Indianapolis coach were their best, he was
a part of that. He was a part of what
it looked like when they were dominating the a f
C South and consistently in the conversation to be a
team that's going to the super Bowl. Now, he didn't
have the quarterback, he wasn't joined rejoining the organization with
(28:50):
Peyton Manning under center, but he understands what it's supposed
to look like. In the Tony Dungee era, in the
Jim Caldwell era, there was a certain way that the
intern oupoteris coach did business. So because he had that knowledge,
he might have been more sensible than John Foxer Gust
Bradley because they both have been with the organization less
(29:13):
than a year. And so if you're Jim er Stay,
the owner who wants this team to go back to
the super Bowl, you naturally go back and find for
what you want that's familiar. Well, I'm familiar with Tony DUNGI,
I'm familiar with Jim Cole. I wanted like that. So
Jeff Saturday can bridge the gap with that. Now, is
(29:33):
it ideal because of his level of experience. No, But
as I will tell you, the head coaches job is
not necessarily to be the play caller. The head coaches
job is to set the vision, make sure that everyone
understands the direction of the program, hold everybody accountable to
meeting the standard that will help you get to the expectation,
(29:53):
and then it's about making the hard decisions, whether it's
personnel or game management decisions. What Saturday can do that
because that doesn't necessarily mean the experience. That's more of
a leadership management type role that you're you're taking on
as a CEO of the program, and for this one
(30:13):
the interim coach. They wanted a CEO and so it worked.
And the one thing that I would say technically that
he did he held the officive line accountable, sat in
the meeting rooms, held them accountable, made sure that they
simplified the things that they were doing on office, which
is also a Tony Dungee Jim Calwell thing. Be simple
(30:34):
so you can play fast and loose. That's what they
did and so he did a great job in Game one.
I think the big test will be how do they
perform this week because the challenge is a little different
going against this team than going against the Raiders. Yeah,
going against the Eagles team that a lost to Washington
last week, and be you gotta deal with Jalen Hurts
and Miles Sanders. That's gonna be tough, real tough. It
(30:57):
would be tough because they're running game presents a problem, um,
and it's the same thing that everyone has to deal with. However,
the Commanders provided a blueprint for the rest of the
league to follow. So as much as we talked about
the Philadelphia Eagles run game, we now have to talk
about their leaky run defense because in the last two
games they've given up over a hundred and fifty yards
(31:17):
on the ground. The Washington Commanders played keepaway, Um, they
held the ball for over forty minutes time of possession,
so the Eagles can score where they don't have the ball. So,
if I'm Jeff Saturday and I'm looking at the strengths
of our team, which we thought we're gonna be the
office of line of Jonathan Taylor, Oh, we got a chance.
Our offense has to be our best defense. We need
(31:39):
to run the football, we need to drain the clock.
We need to make this a half court basketball game.
And let's see if the Eagles can operate out of
their comfort zone. And and it worked for the Commanders,
let's see if it works for the coach. I would
love to see it work for the culture. Is gonna
be tough. Jonathan Taylor's to have a tough time today,
but we'll see what happen. They got to give him.
He's gotta get at least today has to. He has to.
(32:02):
But but remember, and I know, like um we we
we kind of think about in Dominicans who coming over
in Lynnville, Joseph coming over. Oh, those guys are gonna
automatically fits to run defense. But remember we're not getting
the all pro versions of those guys. We're getting the
old version of those guys. And how much do they
have left in the tank and how ready can they be? Uh,
(32:26):
three or four days after signing. I wouldn't dismiss the
Cole's chances of adding another team to the upset wall.
On Jeff Saturday's resume, Well, let's see what happens there,
all right. I did mention coming into the seven that
bad things happened to this guy when he plays this team.
And tell about the Jets Patriots today and the Patriots
seventeen in New York earlier this year. I'm telling about
(32:47):
Zack Wilson, the quarterback for the Jets. He threw three
I N T s against that tough defense of the Patriots.
I don't think it's gonna be much of a game
in Gillette Stadium. I don't know what kind of snow
is up there. I haven't heard much about snowing there,
and it's in Buffalo. But I still think the Patriots
defense has owned the Jets, and they'll own them again
today and they'll beat him. Oh, you're talking about the
(33:09):
New York Jets, who are emerging as one of the
top teams in the league. You believe the Patriots owned them,
even though Mac Jones is a very suspect quarterback at
this point, I don't he's playing good enough to win.
I mean they're playing around him. But yes, he's playing
good enough to win. But the Jets are also playing
well enough to win around Zack Wilson. I'll say this
(33:33):
about the Jets. If the Jets are able to do
what they've been able to do the last couple of games,
where defensively they control it, so what they're gonna do
is they're gonna take away the deep ball. They're gonna
see if mac Jones can be disciplined enough to play
within himself. Can he stick to throwing checkdowns and underneath
throws as opposed to wanting to push the ball down
(33:53):
the field. Secondly, offensively, they can run right at the Patriots.
They can see the Patriot up to snuff when it
comes to stopping the run game. The Page's defense has
been solid. The defense when they played well, they certainly
give their offense an opportunity. But to me, this is
a very close game and it comes down to Zach
Wilson versus Mac Jones. Yeah, so that that's what it
(34:17):
comes down to. And so in this game where is
this game and this game is in New England. Yeah,
that can be the difference right there. It can be close.
I'm telling you're not gonna blow him out. It's to
be close. But I think that Zack Wilson is is
prone to making more errors than Mac Jones. That's what
I'm true. I'll go with that. That's true, and that's
why I think the Jets lose that game. Today. We'll see.
(34:37):
I could be wrong, but you know history will repeat
itself because they beat him up seventeen the Patch did
earlier this year in New York. All right, he's Bucky Brooks.
I made the firm of this is Fox Football suddenly
on Fox Puts Radio. This is now a time to
reflect and a time for Bucky to remember why. Plus
Bucky remembers he's next. Folly Foods go ahead with don'ty

now before the top of the hour. He is Bucky Brooks.
I'm Manthy Firm, and this is Fox Football Sunday on
Fox Sports Radio, and we are live from the tire
rapped com studios. But right now it's time for Bucky remembers.
It's time for one of our own to remember the
(36:06):
good old days. That's just why we're doing the drill
from the locker room to the gridiron. This man has
seen at all. You want your favorite NFL veteran, Bucking
Brooks Crowning gives us the good, the bad, and the
ugly from his playing days in the NFL, and now
Bucky remembers. Yeah, it's that time for Bucky. M I
(36:30):
love this time. We talked about Jeff Satay, you a
guy and he went room coach for the Indianapolis coach. Now, Bucking,
how would you as a player react perhaps playing for
a former player with no NFL coaching experience, You know,
this would be interesting. It would be interesting because former
players naturally have a tendency to respect uh players in
(36:53):
the game and those things, and players naturally give those
guys respect because there's a trust in a bond, because
you know how hard it is to make it in
the league and those things. That said, depending upon how
the former player came in and introduced himself to the team,
um as the the interim coach. I think that goes
(37:13):
a long way to the way that the team would
have reacted, by all accounts the way people said Saturday,
Uh kind of owned his inexperience but talked passionately to
the team. Uh didn't act like he was to know
at all. His vulnerability enabled the team to say, hey,
let's give him a chance. And then some of the
(37:33):
things that happened throughout the week in terms of like
high level of accountability, the way they went about their business,
and then the team finished with the win. Now the
trust is even Uh strengthened between the players in the team,
But a lot of it takes the humility and the
vulnerability of the former player who was now standing in
front of the team. Canny be vulnerable, Kenny humble himself
(37:55):
enough to say I don't know everything, but man, no
one's gonna outwork me when it comes to trying to
find answers and solutions. Interesting, Okay, is there a correlation
between team losses and injuries? I mean by that I
look at the Green Bay Packtners. They don't have a
lot of injuries, but they have a lot of losses.
M hmmm. I would I would say that losses are
(38:16):
part of the I mean, I mean, like injuries are
part of the game, but the great teams overcoming, right.
Every week you hear teams talk about next man up
in those things. Now, some of the injuries are critical,
but a lot of it depends on the toughness that
your team has, meaning mentally, are they tough enough to
deal with some of the injuries and continue to play
through it. The other thing comes down to the tactics.
(38:38):
Are your coaches willing to change things to compensate from
for a loss that you might have on the perimeter
or a loss of a major player. Can you change
the way that you play? So? Yeah, injuries impact of
the great coaches find a way to overcome some of
those things, all right. The unwritten rule in the NFL
is that you never lose your job because of an injury.
(38:59):
Why is that? And I'm seeing that maybe changing a
little bit now, you know, I don't think I don't
think that rule has to necessarily exist. I think at
the end of the day, if you're a coach in
the winning business is about production and performance at all times.
And so when you're out of the lineup, if the
guy that comes in for you, if he's playing at
a high level, he has an opportunity to stay in
(39:20):
because your job is the head coach, is to put
your team in the best position to win. And so
even though people talk about their rule and oh, you
can't lose your job to injury. Nah, the great coaches
that I've been around, uh, they're always evaluated. Now they're
trying and work the player back into the mix. But
if the second guy comes in and is playing well,
(39:41):
he doesn't automatically get a seat on the bench just
because the other guy was an incumbent or I mean
he was the incumbent. Now it has to it has
to be earned, all right. We got about fifteen twenty seconds,
and this one the differences in playing indoors outdoors day
or night and now the snow situation, moving buffalo in Detroit.
What are some of the differences in preparation. The differences
(40:03):
in preparation One, you gotta deal with the weather and
the wind. With the code, you gotta deal with the flutters.
How are you gonna handle the ball when the ball
is way? There you go. We'll continue right now. Hey,
what about the quarterback? He may not be the m
v P. We'll tell you why. Next, it's all about
the defense for this team. Today. We'll get to that
in just about a minute. This is Fox Football Sunday.
He is Bucky Brooks. I'm Andy Furman, and we're broadcasting

NFL himself, the one and only Bucky Brooks. Hello, Buck,
our two are rolling. Hey man, let's get together. Man.
(40:49):
I love it. I love it. I love it. It's
a Sunday Funday, a lot of football on tap. Let's
talk about it. You know you mentioned Sunday the two
days of the week that I love Sunday obviously for football,
but I love Friday. You know why I love Friday?
Can I tell you why why Friday? I love Friday.
That's when Bucky Brooks column comes out on NFL dot com.
(41:10):
How do you like that? I know that I appreciate that.
It's true. I read it. I want to talk about
it with you a little bit. NFL dot com. You
go down, you look at the news stories and the
writers and Bucket Brooks's mug is right there, one of
the writer's NFL dot com and now you give us
the early line on the league, m v P. Let's
talk about your early line on some VP guys. And
(41:32):
they're not all quarterbacks, which I love that. Really you're
not in that all quarterbacks for us, but the disclaimer
out there. So these are my dark horse candidates, meaning
the obvious choices, like I think Vegas has guys like
Patrick Mahomes and two are talking about lower high on
the board. The odds are will in their favorite that
they're going to be the ones to walk away from it.
(41:52):
So let's move beyond those guys. And so when I'm
looking and trying to project out who could be the
guys that we end up talking about, these are the
names that come to mind. Number one name Lamar Jackson.
And I know there's some debate about whether Lamar Jackson
is still the most explosive weapon at quarterback, and rightfully so,
like I mean, Justin Fields is kind of taking over.
(42:14):
I think he Justin Field leads all quarterbacks in Russian yards,
but Lamar Jackson is right there. And then when I
look at their schedule, though, their schedule is loaded with cupcakes.
It's only one team that remains with the winning record,
that is the Cincinnati Bengals. Lamar Jackson, if his team
piles up wins and he piles up stats, he's going
(42:34):
to be in the conversation because this team should have
one of the top seeds and his numbers to look
great about against the competition that they're set to face.
And you wrote on the NFL dot com that his
heroics have flown under the radar. This is a guy
who's a former league m v P. I question why
he's not getting the respect because he's doing everything needed
to be in the conversation for m v P. Yeah,
(42:56):
but you know, man, we like the new toys. Right
Justin Fields right now is the new toy because the
stuff that Justin Fields is doing for the Bears. I mean,
let's let's be honest, and he's pretty sexy. It's pretty
sexy looking at Justin Fields running the option and quarterback power. Yeah,
but it's a new guy with It's somebody that we
haven't seen kind of get down like this, and because
we just salivate over the newness. He's a new guy.
(43:19):
And there were people talking about the bus word with him,
and so all of a sudden he goes from being
labeled as a bus to being a baller. You just
don't see that, and so that's why there's the fascination
over these other guys. But just remember the O g
Lamar Jackson, the guy who really has played a huge
role in helping to continue the revolution at the position.
(43:40):
Lamar Jackson has been solid and so he has our
opportunity to re um and search himself into the conversation.
Is one of the best players. But that would really
help him with contract negotiations. Another m v P. But
you also had some m v P long horses, dog
horses that basically are not quarterbacks. Yeah, so how about
the quarterback, I mean not a quarterback how and wide
(44:00):
receiver Justin Jefferson from the Minnesota Vikings. Uh, Justin Jefferson
is on page to have a two thousand yards season
and I know Cooper Cup ended up with two thousand
yards this season ago, but Justin Jefferson could do it
in the regular season. He has six one hundred yard games. Um.
He has shown the ability to dominate one on one coverage,
but he's also shown the ability to get open versus
(44:22):
all kinds of coverage tactics, and I feel like for
every m v P there has to be a signature
moment that one handed catch against the Buffalo Bills could
go down as the signature moment for his m v
P campaign. And so when you think about the Minnesota Vikings,
then probably UH ending up as the number one or
two seed in the NFC. UH Justin Jefferson is gonna
(44:45):
get a lot of love because I also think Kevin
O'Connell is going to continue to feed him enough that
his numbers get up there where we have to mention
him as a non quarterback candidate. And what does that
do for Kirk Causes, Because here's a guy who's been
really in my mind much more and he's not a
bad quarterback. I don't know if you call him a
franchise quarterback, but he's pretty darn good and he's had
good seasons. Obviously have trouble with the big games at times.
(45:09):
But if Justin Jefferson emerges as an m v P
or an m VP candidate, at least you've got to
give some credit to Kirk Cousins. I mean, you can
give Kirk Cousins some credit, but UH my podcast partner
Danny Jeremiah on our podcast Move the Sticks, we talked
about the difference in quarterbacks. Quarterbacks have been two categories,
trucks and trailers. Trucks the quarterback carries the team. Trailers,
(45:34):
the team carries the quarterback. Kirk Cousins is more of
a trailer than a truck, and so he'll get some credit,
but everyone would look and see Justin Jefferson being the
guy who's really been pivotal to uh Kirk cousins success.
Because when you look at the numbers with Kirk Cousins,
his numbers haven't been great. They've been solid, but not
draw dropping. I think people would be more apt to
(45:56):
give Justin Jefferson uh than not as the m v
P of that team and as a guy who should
be the MVP of the league or so the Kirk Cousins,
you know. I like that analogy, Trucks and trailers. How
would you ray Ryan Tannehill, Oh, he is a trailer.
The team pulls him, Derrick Henry, the run game, Mike Rabel,
what they do around him. He's absolutely a trailer. And
(46:17):
then he might be a high end trailer. But now
he's not a truck. He's not one of those guys
that you say, hey, give him the ball and give
him a handful of players, he'll he'll figure it out. Now,
he's not that guy. And so I think when you
look at the league, they're only a handful of trucks
in the league. You think about Pat Mahomes, where I
think you can drop Pat Mahomes anywhere. He would be
(46:38):
able to do it. Lamar Jackson falls into that category
because of what he's been able to do. Josh Allen
would fall into that category up in Buffalo, but there
are not many guys that were falling into that. Here's
a good one for you. I'm not so certain that
Matthew Staffords a truck. I'm not at this sage anymore. No.
(46:58):
Back in the day, back in the Troy, Yeah, I
think I was one of the biggest uh, Matthew Stafford supporters.
But at this stage of his career, he's no longer that.
I would say right now, Aaron Rodgers is no longer
a truck. He no longer can single handedly carry your
team or you can just surround him with a bunch
of guys and expect that team to win. Now it
(47:20):
should be a very rare and exclusive club, very much
like when we talk about the elites, that should be
a very small circle. Think about it in terms of trucks.
Can you put that guy with anybody and continue to win.
Not many quarterbacks in capable of being able to do
that great analogy. Now you mentioned justin Jefferson, what about
(47:40):
Tyreek Hill is a possible m v P. Kennedy Tyreek
Hill will be in that category. But the problem is
you have to a tongue about Lord and I know
the conversation there that we just add on trucks and trailers,
where there's t a tock about lawd fit. He's a
high end trailer. But the issue is we've seen the
Miami Dolphins with and without him this year in games
(48:02):
in which two an tell you Aboa has started, they're
unstarted and finished, they're undefeated. When he's not available, the
team doesn't function the same. And so I give up.
We kill a lot of credit because he's the difference maker.
He has changed the landscape of their offense to where
you gotta defend their offense and all of those things. However,
(48:23):
the quarterback has had a significant contribution to the same
success interesting, and I'll tell you what you talking about
m v P possibilities and someone who's had a lot
of UH success as an individual performer and helping the
team success has to be Say Kwan Barkley with the
Giants absolutely one man show, a one man show. That's
(48:45):
what Say Kwan Barkley has been. When you look at
his numbers, Andy is crazy, but UH running back m
VP Barry said seven. I think each time with Brett
Farve that year. If you look at the numbers right now,
they're ear similar through nine games of the season for
Barkley and through that first nine games of that m
(49:05):
VP campaign, UH scrimmage yards are dead on Uh. They
both were just a little bit below one thousand rushing yards.
Through this, se Kwon Barkley has not only proven to
the league that he's back, but he's proven to the
league that he is still one of the best players
in the league. And so it's interesting at a time
in which the Giants were trying to redo his deal,
Sae Kwon Barkley is kind of turned back the clock
(49:28):
a little bit, showed him that he's still in his prime,
and it makes for a very very difficult contract negotiation.
How much do you pay the running back who's playing
in his prime even though he's had all these touches
and carries. That would be a great offseason drama. But
now he deserves to be in an m v P
category conversation because who expected the Giants to be where
(49:52):
the Giants are sitting at seven and two almost eight
and two. That's that's remarkable for the Giants. It really is. Now.
It's funny because I think if the m v P
was voted today, Patrick Mahomes who winning the hands down,
because that's the way the media people are and that's
the way it is. But I love the situation here
that you've kind of give us this dark horse situation,
and I gotta believe that if you really and truly
(50:14):
want to see an m v P, I would think
that Sae Kwon Barkley is the guy because the Giants
came out of nowhere, and they came out of nowhere
because of him. Yeah, Jazz came out of nowhere. And
if they if they win the NFC East, he has
to be the guy because Daniel Jones has been solid,
but everyone knows the st Kwon Barkley is the straw
that stirs the drink. And so if the Giants end
(50:36):
up with twelve or thirteen wins, Sae Kwon Barkley has
to be the guy that is in the conversation. Even
though I would say this, Patrick Mahomes is the m
v P because all of us doubted that he would
be able to keep this offense afloat without Tyreek Hill.
We made it so much about the big plate threat.
And what we've seen is you removed Tyreek Hill. It
(50:58):
is now forced Pat Homes to be more of a distributor.
He's done that and now they brought in to Darius
Tony to give them some of that Tyreek Kill big playability.
You see Pat mahomes numbers explode. I would say that
set Kwon Barkley is more viable to the Giants than
Derrick Henry is to the Titans. Uh. I would agree
(51:18):
with you. I would agree because I think Sae Kwon
Barkley does more what he can do in the passing game, uh,
what he doesn't have around him. Uh. Derrick Henry might
have a little bit more around him, not much, but
Sa Kwan doesn't have anybody that you're scared of. On
the permit. There's no one. If we're standing in front
of the room presenting the discounting report to the defense
(51:40):
and we talked about who are the guys that we
gotta stop se Kwon Barkley, there's no one else that's
worth a mentioned. Exactly right now, let's talk about this
Ram Saints game, because if you would have told me
after nine games the Rams will be three and six,
and I know that they submitted with injuries. They've lost
three straight. They lost last week to Arizona, which is unbelievable.
Is only the second time Sean McVeigh has ever lost
(52:02):
Arizona in thirteen meetings. It's amazing what this team has done.
A Cooper Cup, he's gone for the year. Basically, Matthew
Stafford's gonna play, but he's not the Rams obviously, with
the offensive woes that they have, they gotta put all
the pressure on their defense to get the Saints quarterback
Andy Dalton to win this ball game. Yes, you gotta
(52:22):
put you gotta put it on Andy dark Like. I
don't know what their love affair is with Dennis Allen
and Andy Dalton, but if Andy Dawn's gonna be the quarterback,
then you gotta make Andy Dalton show that he can
win the game. He hasn't done that this year for
the Saints. He really hasn't done the last couple of years.
I know he has dance with the Bears and the Cowboys, respectively,
but he still hasn't shown that he can be a
guy that can play at a high level consistently for
(52:42):
a long stretch of game. He's a trader one, He's
a tray. I mean, yeah, he's He's buggy, big time trader.
And so I mean he's still there. Dennis Allen views
him as a guy who gives him the best chance
to win. But I absolutely want to make Andy Dalton
proved to me each and every week that he can
win the game. I don't know. I mean, the injuries
(53:03):
are a factor here, but I cannot believe that the
Rams have come three and six. And look Sean McVeigh
two years ago, he was like the wonder kid of
the NFL. Like, you know, oh my goodness, everybody wants
to be like Sean McVeigh. It's not the coach. I mean,
the players make the coach. They really do. Although I
will tell you there are certain coaches that, like I
look at Rabel in Tennessee. I think that guy can
(53:26):
win anywhere with anybody. I think he's one of those
gifted coaches. I really believe that he is very gifted,
and I think what he doesn't get enough credit for
is his ability to scheme it up each week. He
takes away the opponent's best players on offense and defense.
He plays the game in a way that he needs
(53:47):
to play it to win it. So if that means
they have to play faster, if they have to play slore,
if they have to leave more in the running game
as opposed to the past game, if they have to
pass more, He's willing to do it. Uh. He's very
adaptable when it comes to what they do defense. I
just believe that what we're watching is one of the
great young coaches UH in our game. Mike Rabel's ability
to get the Tennessee Titans and keep them in the
(54:10):
mix each and every year is remarkable because when you
look at their roster, I can't sit here and say
that they're loaded with blue ship players. They have a
handful of blue ship players. But what he does is
he maximized the talents of his blue chips while finding
a way the master deficiencies of the other guys that
he has on the roster, and the problem why he
doesn't get the respect I think nationally is the fact
(54:31):
that when you're playing in Tennessee, you're playing off Broadway,
you know, you're not gonna get the notoriety that you
would play in in a in a bigger city. I mean,
And that's that's the that's the shame of it, because
I think this guy has got to be gobbled up
somewhere somehow, and and a bigger market. I think one
day he will be. But today, as far as the
Rams are concerned, I think the saintspeed him. I really do.
(54:51):
I think right now, you know, the defense has to
come up. Lennard Floyd's to come up, Jalen Rasy gotta
come up. They gotta stop the wide receiver. What it's
all a lave on New Orleans and Ann But I
don't know. If Andy Don't could deliver the ball to
the guy, that's the problem. But I still think that
the Saints are gonna take them today. Man, I have
(55:12):
a tough time believing in the Saints. Man, they're so
beat up. Cameron Jordan is not gonna play. Uh, He's
really a Lynch into that defense. I'm not a believer
in Andy Dalton. He hasn't really shown me anything. The
only X factor that the Saints have that could change
the game, in my mind, it's Taysom Hill. I believe.
If you're gonna play with Andy Dalton, tasto Hill has
(55:33):
to play a major role as the wildcat quarterback. Taysom
Hill has to have anywhere from eight to ten carries
on the ground to uh supplement what they get from
Alvin Kamara, and the Saints have to be committed to
run the ball. If you tell me that the Saints
finished with over thirty carries over thirty rushing attempts, I'll
(55:53):
tell you that the Saints will win. But if they're
not going to do that, then they have no chance.
It's gonna be an ugly game either way you look
at it. It's could be ugly ugly. There is all right.
He's Bucky Brooks. I'm Andy Ferman. Get him on Twitter
at Bucky Brooks or Mike Harmon will join us an
our number three. You get him on Twitter at Swollen
Dome or at Andy Ferman. F s a bet he
at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox if you
(56:15):
want to get his by phone at eight seven seven
sixty sixty nine Bottom Barrel Betting with the amazing cris Pe.
In this hour, I've mentioned Mike Harman and Bucky's best
and our number three, but this really isn't a real
good matchup. We'll explain all of that next. This trade
doesn't look so bad now, we'll get to that in
just about a minute, about twenty three minutes past the hour.
(56:38):
This is Fox Football Sunday. He is Bucky Brooks. I'm
Andy Ferman, and let's get back to the games. And
you know this is interesting because I look at these
games and I think of like how a coordinated defensive
coordinator would think about it. And I'm looking at the Lions,
at the Giants today, Lions and the Giants Lions three
and six, Giants seven and two, Lions, one of the
(56:58):
worst teams in points allowed in the league. And the
Lions to win, they got to win this ball game.
Stock up that defensive line to stop Barkley and they
have the Giants receivers beat them. The only way they
could do that is have the Giants beat them through
the air. Uh. With Barkley getting the ball, It's gonna
be tough, so I think the wind, the Giants need
(57:18):
to control the clock with Barkley. That's what they normally do.
That's basically what the coordinates have to do today. Yeah,
I mean it has to beat Agaft sorry again, with
Sa Kwan Barkley playing a major role, he has to
control it. Last week he had over a hundred fifty
rushing yards. He has to have a similar performance against
the Lions. The Lions have a tough time defending the
(57:41):
run in the past, and so for me, it's very
very simple. The Giants do what they do, but you
use Daniel Jones legs to add another dimension to the office.
They've done that throughout the year, Daniel Jones said, games
where he's going over a huntey yards Russian it has
to be a dual threat situation with him, make him
to fan out on the fasting game, but the resting
(58:02):
game with Daniel Jones, and then you're able to dictate
the terms like you want. Um. I like the Giants.
I think if the Giants show a little maturity here, yeah,
they can get it done. And then it sets him
up for a big Thanksgiving Day game. I guess the
Cowboys Okay, let's talk about the Detroit Lions. Now they've
won two straight, and I was starting to Chris p Are,
our producer and basically the host of the Bottom Barrel Bending. Uh.
(58:26):
He's a big Detroit Lions fan. He does a podcast
with the Lions. Uh, Chris, what was the last time
the Lions went too straight? And what was the last
time they won three straight? So? I remember the last
time they won two straight was definitely was the final
year of Jim Caldwell as the head coach. In seen.
It didn't happen at all. I believe under Matt Patricia
Um last time they went three straight. I don't remember. Wow,
(58:51):
you'd have to you'd have to go back. You'd have
to go back a minute. Uh to find a three
straight streak. I'm trying to remember off the top of
my head. I'll get back to you on that. All right.
That's that's huge. I mean, I don't think it's gonna happen.
But the fact that they didn't fold, I give them
a lot of credit because a lot of teams and
a lot of leagues would fold. I think Dan Campbell
(59:13):
has these kids believing they're young. They're a young group
and you know, he's a great motivator. I mean, I
don't know what else he could do as a coach.
Does have great personnel, but he's a great motivator. To
have this team, you have to losing all those ball
games come back. I went too straight. I give him
a lot of credit for that. He does a good
job of keeping his team engaged. Uh. They believe in
(59:35):
his messaging, they believe in what he's selling. He's done
a really good job, I would say, of being patient
and loyal to the guys that he believes in Aaron Glenn,
namely the defensive coordinator. But at some point this team
has to go from being like the little engine they
could to being able to get some dubs. They gotta
get some wins. They have to get some wins. Because
I love all the gruff and tough and stuff and
(59:58):
all the A lists. We're gonna be gritty, We're gonna
be tough. But at some time it comes down to
production and performance, and they have to start winning these games.
And so the defense, the defense will ultimately be the
one that wins us because what the Giants do. The
Giants win because they're the masses of what I call
the d B o S don't beat ourselves uh, turnovers, penalties,
(01:00:23):
big plays allowed, and then kicking game Harris. They dominate
those categories and because of that they've been able to win.
The Lions, for whatever reason, have imploded, not necessarily in
those areas, but defensively they find ways to kind of
like fall apart, and so can the Lions play a
discipline game where they don't fall apart for four quarters?
(01:00:44):
The odds tell me that the Giants are more likely
to win that game more so than the Lions. I'm
with you right there. Let's squeeze and this one the
Panthers at the Ravens Now Carolina. They beat up on
the Falcons last week. That gives the interim coach of
the Panthers, Steve Wilson, two and two records. Unbelievable really,
but I don't think he's gonna remain head coach. But
since trading get this, though, Buck, since trading running back
(01:01:06):
Christian McCaffrey, Carolina now is averaging sixty nine more rushing
yards and twice as many touchdowns on the ground per game.
Don't understand why, but that's the key right there. Ravens
run a hot street. They want free straight. Explain that
to me with Carolina. I think there are a couple
of things they play. Uh, Chris McCaffrey was there, but
then Steve Wills took over. He still had Christi McCaffrey.
(01:01:28):
I think for a game. See Wilkes comes from the
defensive side of the ball. He understands the importance of
running the football, not only to protect your quarterback, to
preserve your defense, and so they made a more concerted
effort to run the ball. Without McCaffrey, you have to
use multiple runners. And so because of that effort, you
(01:01:48):
see different skills, different guys emerged, And is one of
those things sometimes when you have the very talented UH
five star player and Christie McCaffrey, we can do all
of these different things. You never major in one thing.
When you remove that and you made you in the
running game because maybe those other guys don't bring what
Christian McCaffrey brings as a receiver, the team gets better.
(01:02:10):
And so the team got better because instead of trying
to do a bunch of stuff, they're doing handful of
the things and they're doing it really, really well. They
may have gotten better, but they're not good enough to
beat the Baltimore Ravens today. I'm not gonna sit here
and down at the hill, so I will go with you. Alright.
He's Bucky Brooks. Imathy from me. By the way, this
NFL team plays to the level of its competition. That's
(01:02:34):
coming up next to Fox Football Sunday Live from the
tire Rap dot Com studios. But first, here's the cope
with the updates. All right, guys, let's get to the
latest on who's in and who's out on this NFL
Sunday and a lot of the guys that were questionable
coming into the weekend. Good news for your fantasy teams.
Things are looking good for the most part. Let's start
with the Chargers receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams both
(01:02:57):
expected back in the lineup tonight as Chargers take on
the Chiefs and Sunday Night Football Raiders receiver Davante Adams
is expected to be good to go. Also, Cowboys running
back Ezekiel Elliott expected to be back for Dallas as
they've got their big matchup with the Vikings. Ravens quarterback
Lamar Jackson and Titan Mark Andrews are good to go,
(01:03:18):
but for Baltimore, running back Gus Edwards not likely to play.
ESPN reporting Rams receiver Cooper Cup is out six to
eight weeks with that high ankle sprain, So unless the
Rams can make a push for the playoffs, there's a
good chance we've seen the last of Cooper Cup this season.
NFL media reporting Commanders quarterback Taylor Heineke will be the
team starter moving forward, even when Carson Wentz has recovered
(01:03:42):
from his finger injury. Also from NFL media, Broncos coach
Nathaniel Hackett is handing play colleague duties over to quarterbacks
coach Clint Kubiak, and NFL media also reporting Cowboys and
the Giants they have emerged as two favorites to land
free agent receiver Odell Beycomb Jr. He is set to
visit both teams after Thanksgiving, and ESPN reporting the Eagles
(01:04:05):
expect to have tight end Dallas Goddard back sometime this
regular season. He was placed on injured reserve this week
with a shoulder injuries suffered in that Monday night loss
against the Commander. Quickly quickly to college football on Saturday night,
Number seven USC has clinched the spot in the Pac
twelve title game and bolstered it's college football playoff resume
(01:04:28):
with a forty eight to forty five win over number
sixteen u c l A. Number twelve Oregon hung on
to beat number ten Utah seventeen. The Ducks can clinch
a spot in the PAC twelve Championship game with a
win next week. Number five Tennessee was effectively eliminated from
playoff contention as they got blown out by South Carolina
sixty three to thirty eight, top four, all one, although
(01:04:51):
there was some tight action there for number three Michigan
and number four TCU, but they both emerged, Michigan getting
a late field goal they in nineteen seventeen, TCU also
getting a late field goal on the road right as
time expired as they go to eleven and oh as well,
final score horn Frog's over Baylor. Let's go back to
Andy Furman and Bucky Brooks. Thank you so much, all right?
(01:05:15):
The road is no friend for this team that's coming
right up. In fact, he is Bucky Brooks. I'm Andy
Ferman and bottom barrel betting in about eight nine minutes
for now. But the commanders are at the Texas today,
and I gotta ask you what does it do for
a ball club like the Commanders that they're coming off
a win against the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night?
(01:05:36):
One does Dad put them to another level or the down? Now?
The air is gonna come out of the balloon because
they gave it all out last week and there's nothing
left now. I think he is of life. He gives
them life because very after the game talked about identity
and how important is that we always know who we are.
To me, that was a message not only to the players,
(01:05:57):
but to the coaches. Scott Turner, offensive coordinator, you call
forty nine runs in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles,
and we're able to win the game even though we
only average a little over three yards per carry. Run
the football. Don't be fascinated about throwing it the clock.
Excuse me, don't be No, you exactly know what you
(01:06:19):
eat up the clock and do. The opponent can't score
if you have the football. It's as easy as that.
So how do you do that? You move the change,
you run, eat up the clock, and you run the football.
That's what you did. Yeah, and and so back to
to that, Taylor, Heineke gives them a lot of confidence
because he looks he's gritty, he's competitive. Sal Terry m
(01:06:39):
lauren talked about him, talking about him being a real dude,
a guy who's tough, physical like the rest of the
team is. And so as long as the Commanders play
and stay true to their identity, run the football that
Taylor Heinekey make plays, lead on the defense that was
supposed to be the strength of your team. It gives
them a chance. But that keepaway strategy that they utilized
against the Philip that if the Eagles, that has to
(01:07:01):
be a part of their weekly tactic. They need to
dominate time of possession and run the football because it
gives them a chance, uh to lead them to the
strength of their team. And it should be easy today
because the Texas have a very poor run defense. Yeah.
But here here's what I'll say about the Texans and
what makes them difficult. Uh, their style of play always
(01:07:23):
keeps them in the game because they want to do
like what the Commanders did a week ago. They want
to run the football with Damian Pierce. They want to
take care of the ball with Davis Mills. They want
to employ a bind but that don't break style of
defense where they don't let you throw it over the
here to make you nickel and diamond. And they have
ten to fourteen play drives and so if you're not
(01:07:45):
able to jump out on them, you find yourself in
the game in the fourth quarter. So I'm with you
when it comes to Commanders. I just think that the
Texans muddy it up enough where this game ends up
being a lot closer than we anticipate. Okay, Damian Peers.
If I'm the coordinator, Damian Appears has to carry the
bat times in this game for them. That's number one.
(01:08:07):
Number two, Davis Mills, He's got to protect the football.
I know it's a it's an easy thing to say,
but here's a guy who has eleven touchdowns but nine
interceptions and he has two turnovers in the red zone
and that's bad. So David S. Mills, control the football,
don't protect the football, don't give it up, don't call
it up, and you've got a chance of this game.
I think the Commanders win, but it's gonna be closer
(01:08:28):
than people think. Yeah, I mean I think there's some
truth to that. Um, it will be an easy game
for sure, but the Commanders should went and we'll get
s commanders are legit or not, because they're one of
these things that always are friends pretender. Let's see if
they're legit, because if they can put it back to
back weeks, I'm really more inclined to be like, Okay,
(01:08:49):
this team is legit. But the other thing that is
at play. Do they go back to Carson West when
he's healthy, because you know he's coming off I r
does he does he eventually come back into the mix.
So for me, Taylor Haneke is playing to remain theff
in them even Yeah. I mean, so there's a lot
on the line for a bunch of people with the commanders. Okay,
(01:09:11):
we got the Raiders of the Broncos here, and the
question here is which coach is on a hotter seat
Nathaniel Hackett. And we heard our guy Mr Cope giving
the updates saying that Hackett has now relinquished the play calling.
So I guess he's got one foot in the grave.
So Denver's coach, Nathaniel Hockey, he's gonna be gone. Josh McDaniels,
(01:09:31):
I mean, the one that can there. He's having difficult
times in in Las Vegas. I don't know what his
deal is but he's in trouble. There's no doubt about that.
He's got to be in trouble. His team is two
and seven, the Raiders. What to win today? Just give
the ball of just Jacobs. Gotta give the bullet Jackobs.
Why do I say that the last time these teams met,
that was back in Week four the Raiders. We won
that game three But Jacobs rush twenty eight times, two touchdowns,
(01:09:55):
hundred forty four yards. Yeah, I mean, Josh Jacobs has
to be the focal work. They mess up when they
get away from that, When they get away from there blueprint,
when they run the foot ball of Josh Jacobs, throw
the ball to Dvante Adams and find a way to
control the clock to protect their defense. They lose games.
So it has to be about players in that place.
(01:10:18):
Get the ball to those guys thirty five times you
win the game. So there's twenty five touches for Jacobs,
ten touches for Davante Adams. When you do that, you
give your team a chance to win. Thirty five is
the number between those two players. Not a question I
have for you, because you have the football and Maven.
What happened to Josh McDaniels. I thought he was a
football genius. He can't win. What's to do? Is it
(01:10:41):
like the Peter principle. You could be a great teacher,
but when you're relegated to become a principal, you may
not be a good principal, but you may be a
good classroom teacher. I would say that Bill Belichick overseeing
McDaniels makes life easy because what Bill Belichick has is
he has respected the room. He also has the ability
(01:11:02):
to set game plans that are complimentary in nature, gives
them a chance to win because he's willing to do
whatever it takes to win. Without Bill Belichick there, I
just don't know if Josh McDaniels carries the same cash
set in the locker room. And so that's the biggest issue.
A an't in trouble, would you agree? Uh? He is
(01:11:26):
to a point. Mark Davis doesn't have a lot of
cash to just give away for coaches that don't culture him.
So we don't know what the John Gruden situation is
going to be once they finished the grievous and all
the other stuff, the money owed and all that, So
you got that situation hanging over and then you have
whatever you're paying Josh McDaniels, you can't have two of
(01:11:46):
those guys on the sideline that you end up having
to pay and then employ another entire coaching staff. Josh
McDaniels will get more time in more years just because
Mark Davis doesn't really have a choice. M okay, let's
coach to Nathaniel High that that guy is definitely in trouble,
but then again, he may have an excuse with the
Russell Wilson. I mean Russell Wilson right now sevent T
(01:12:06):
d S five I M T s and at thirty
four years of age, he looks like an old thirty four.
He really does d I mean, he is what he is,
but guess what you decided to pay him. So if
it comes down to a quarterback or a coach, the
quarterback is gonna stay. And because you extended him and
gave him five additional years, you're married to Russell Wilson,
(01:12:27):
where you like it or not. And so Nathaniel had
it's easy to get rid of the coach and said,
we got to find a play call that that is
going to help Russ find his way. But I don't
think Russe is coming back. The rust that we saw
for many years in Seattle. That guy's not coming back
because he's not mobile. And because he's not mobile, and
he's also not what I call a rhythm quarterback meetingh
(01:12:49):
catch rock fire, throw on time, throw slants at intermediate
things on time. That's never been his game. His game
has been all improvisation. And so with out the ability
to play on schedule, Yeah, Russell never be what he was,
and so that Broncos have to figure out a way
to play around, uh a declining and diminishing talent at quarterback.
(01:13:12):
And I find it very interesting that he's been rather
quiet because since Seattle, he would he would cry about
the offensive line not getting protection and things like that.
I don't hear much about that now. He's been very
very quiet in Denver. Well, he's been really quiet because
all the fingers were appointed him because he's a guy
who was underperformed. He's the guy that they expected to
(01:13:32):
be the savior and he's been nothing close to that. So, yeah,
the reason why he's been quiet because he's no he
know he's to blame for a lot of their woes.
Exactly right, he's Buckey Brooks on and they firm. And
this is Fox Football Sunday on Fox Bots Radio. The
game that keeps on giving problems. We call it bottom
barrel betting, and you know what, it's freaking next bott
(01:13:54):
and barrel betting right around the bend. About eleven minutes
now before the top of the hour. This is Fox
Football Sunday, Fox Bots Radio one live for the ti
iraq dot com studios. He's Bucky Brooks on Ady Firmer.
But now let's play. It's bottom wanted to sleep people,
get my money, I'll put your brank. Yes it is.
(01:14:16):
It is the amazing Crisp to take us through back
again once again, which means we're going to kick it
into hard mode here. But first we got to get
you the records and uh Bucky four and one excellence
part as usually, how do you do it? Very carefully,
very c buck Andy and five what I've been going
(01:14:41):
back and forth the Andy over, you know, me versus
Brandon on who's running this? And I think I know
why Andy likes when I run it, because he at
least has a shot. Yeah, because I've never heard a
little sports It was just throwing the wall. Andy. Andy's Andy,
You've got to bounce back. Here. We were going hard mode,
so maybe you'll be a little more comfortab of the guys.
The World Cup is this week, that's right. But as
(01:15:03):
this is bottom barrel betting, we're not taking you to
the World Cup. We're taking you two nations that didn't
make the World Cup. And in this case we got
a friendly against Luxembourg ranked ninety two and FIFA rankings
and Bulgaria ranked seventy two. I'm giving you this, two guys,
straight up, Luxembourg, the very small country, or Bulgaria another
European country. Bucky, I would go with Bulgaria. How about that?
(01:15:29):
You know, here's the thing. I mean, you could have
given me any country with Bulgaria. I gotta take Bulgaria.
And there's a reason why both of my boys from Bulgaria.
I had to. Yeah, I adopted two boys from Bulgaria,
and my wife and I many many years ago flew
to uh Sofia, Bulgaria to get them out of the orphanage.
And they're grown men now. But Bulgaria is my second home.
(01:15:51):
So I love Bulgaria and that's where I'm going. Well,
apparently I've got a nose for finding touching stories. But
this is bottom barrel betting. Emotion doesn't come into here.
It's just cold hard money don't anymore. So, Hey, guess
what Black As I said, The World Cup is coming
up Black Friday, We've got USA versus England, right, big
(01:16:11):
highly anticipated match well in the world of mixed martial arts.
Also on Black Friday, we've got the PFL World Championship
with an American versus an Englishman in one of the matches,
American Bubba Jenkins plus one thirty five versus the Englishman
Brendan Lonane at minus one, Andy Bucky, Who you got?
(01:16:33):
What a name like Bubba? How could you lose? I
mean really, and it's an American guy. He's not gonna
lose exactly. Bubba Bubba is my guy. Yeah, give me
the English give any other side. Brendan Loanane, all right,
you take Lonane and Andy's got Bubba, alright, you can
have Bubba. Guys, it's been very high Bubba Jenkins making
(01:16:55):
a super American joining Bubba Watson and Bubba Wallace. Anyway,
Browns at bills that We've had a lot of talk
about how this one's gonna be played in Detroit, right,
and we kind of had the escape from New York
West New York style as the Buffalo Bills somehow got
off the ground and have made it to Detroit. This
is their second time in Detroit in the last ten years.
(01:17:16):
They played about eight years ago Bill's Jets in Detroit.
Now tickets back then, we're free, they're paid this year.
Ford Field has a maximum capacity of sixty thousands. So
Brown's at Bills, Andy, Bucky over under in attendance, Oh,
under under. Why would you be excited to see the
(01:17:39):
Browns and the Bills in Detroit? Yeah, because you're finally
seeing a real football team in Detroit. They settled down.
That's why I'm going over I'm going over there because
every week to have the jv that got the varsity.
This weekend, you settled down, all right, guys. Final race
of the Formula One season the at a Hot Airways
(01:17:59):
Abu Dobby Grand Prix. Uh. Not a strong year for
Lewis Hamilton's for Mercedes. He's about fifth in the standings
right now. He's fifth on the pole. So I'm telling
I'm asking you guys, Lewis Hamilton, is he in for
a top five finish today? Yes? Or no? Yes? Yeah,
I think he's a tough five finish. He's kind of
(01:18:21):
getting lap by his by his teammate George Russell. But
Lewis Hamilton's still got that dog in him. That's fine.
Hamilton's good. Hamilton is gonna go top five. Alright, alright.
And then finally, guys, I hope you're ready for this.
We got some Thanksgiving Day action for you. You're good,
you're ready, hold onto your butts for this one. We're
(01:18:44):
taking you too. We're taking you to to Medina, Ohio
for the Meadows Turkey Bowl, a wonderful uh charity donation
charity game for benefiting the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Last year they raised five hundred and eleven thousand dollars.
They've never gone under, but so I'm asking you, each
(01:19:07):
year they raised more over under fifty thousand raised in
five hundred thousand raised in charity goes. But before we
continue with this, we've got five seconds five seconds yes
or no? Yes? Over, yes, yes, yes, all right, Boda
Barrell betting. Can you believe it's that time again? Counting
down the hours to kick off here in earnest Week
(01:19:29):
eleven of your National Football League one game already in

(01:19:49):
com the way tire buying should be. Greetings, Welcome into
another Fox Football Sunday, my garment alongside Andy Firm and
my guy there in Kentuck. Ready, we'll get into the
Cincinnati Pittsburgh game a little later this hour, near and
dear to his heart and of course our guy Bucky
Brooks NFL dot Com, NFL Network and advancing once again
(01:20:12):
after at twelve win Granada Hills Charter the Highlanders getting
it done again. Congratulations coach, Another big Sunday here in
the studios. Yeah, big Sunday. I appreciate the shout out there.
Mike Harmon, Uh yeah, my team advanced. So they're playing
the City Championship next Saturday, playing for the ship Andy. Yeah.
(01:20:35):
So so it to be great to do the Thanksgiving
Day thing. Um never done this, what would be It'd
be exciting to be SciTE for the kids excited for me.
Can you get somebody to stream it so I can
watch it? Um, let me let me check on that,
because I had had some good success the last couple
of weeks with some of the c I F stuff. Bucky,
it's been pretty cool. Yeah, screen experiences. Yeah, it's been
(01:20:57):
a lot. Now it's pretty cool. Look at that Andy,
back to back weeks between the two games, they've scored
over a hundred points in the plumb of it. You know,
if you do get that streaming information, let me know,
I like to watch it myself. Well, but I mean
we get to and watch the run game dominate. It's
been it's been really cool. Radio. No, not local radio.
(01:21:22):
Come on, come on, what's I mean that coach that's
next year's on the agenda? How do how do we
get a couple of student would be broadcasters to us
station in town, like a five hundred of water that
would carry it the game? Come on? Yeah, we're trying
to work on that. He's like, I'm trying to win
games here, Handy. We're just trying. I've just seen, you know,
(01:21:47):
some of the fans in the crowd that have turned
down their Facebook live and and maybe across the country.
If you've got your favorite high school team, that this
is uh the new world order of trying to get
everybody a little bit to the access. If you've got
some ideas at Swollen Dome, where you find me at
Andy Ferman FSR, and of course at Bucky Brooks. Guys,
it's exciting to be with you for another beautiful Sunday.
(01:22:10):
Be remissed. We got World Cup action starting today. Of course,
a huge slate of college football because I started with
all the uh, the sugars and the sweets for you there,
Bucky top one for the uh the tar heels. Yeah, man,
Tario's had everything lined up for him. Couldn't cash in,
couldn't take advantage. Yeah, not a good day for Tario's.
(01:22:34):
Funny one seventeen your final right, as everybody was getting
introduced with to Drake May is the hard like from
a national perspective, right, if you're at college Football Draft Nick,
and hey, what's my team playing for over the next
couple of years. You knew the name, you've known what
he's able to do. But from a national scale, for
this year, you know, rising up to number thirteen in
(01:22:56):
the rankings, getting a little bit of love here these
last couple of weeks. Yeah, it's funny because he was
in the conversation and a little pitty bad time did
not have I would say their their best night, But
that's how it goes, and so you just kinda have
to figure it out. Signature moments, narrow escapes. We actually
had field goal kickers Andy making big plays for top
(01:23:18):
four teams. Crazy Yeah, Michigan nineteen seventeen of Illinois in
a game. The game, and uh, the TCU game was
a great game as well. The only the only team
that basically expected to win a one bit was Alabama
with the play weston p But I'm looking over some
other games down the road. Yesterday that Maryland Ohio State game.
Maryland game everything they wanted to So it's a pretty
(01:23:40):
good game, pretty good day for football. Yesterday really was
pretty solid, Bucky. I have to ask your opinion. You're
coaching it up, you're analyzing, you do the podcast with
Daniel Jeremiah. Uh and on way Uh that pick play
that Michigan ran inside the final minute, I thought was
going to body slam a couple of officials out here.
(01:24:01):
I mean, I mean it happens like that sometimes. I
understand why Bilman was upset. But you know how iteas man,
the game is all slated for the offense, and so
sometimes there was inadverting bumps, you know, a little inverted
bump didn't necessarily pick him off, but sometimes happens that
terminology right there might be the best andy that was.
(01:24:24):
That was a guy who might who might have one
or two of those in his playing, but might be
just a little different every now and then, it just
kind of happens, and so you know, you hope you
guys can work around it. But I mean it's kind
of tough. Half of the Tennessee yesterday give us sixty
three point. You know, I sort of score throws a
(01:24:45):
basketball score. Really, that's a fair points college basketball scoring.
I mean that that does work. Unreal, real, unreal, And
you know it's important because the quarterback hitting hooker uh
left the game with an injury. He was another guy
that was in the Himan conversation. Tennessee had been playing
(01:25:06):
lights out um South Carolina. Just I mean, look, man,
Beamer Ball part two is amazing because it's the highest
of the highs and the loss of the when it works,
it is a beautiful thing. Is a beautiful thing. When
he has a Shais on it, he's doing his deal. Uh,
(01:25:27):
it's just it's interesting to sixty three thirty eight your final.
So for Tennessee, that knocks them out of the picture.
Here in Los Angeles, we had the big five USC
victory over u C. L A. I was at a
concert and I was watching highlights as I was readying
for the show to start. So that was fun getting that.
(01:25:49):
What about kid? When the kids the state become a
football power? Really they were the old is always They've
always kind of been in the mix. Um. Bill Snyder
has always done a good job. He used to do
a good job of really funny this year, I mean yeah,
I mean, but now Climbing their coach who came in
(01:26:12):
from North Dakota State, he's continued to build that tradition
on top of what Bill Snyder has done. And this
is a team that, look, they compete, they're gritty, they're tough.
They have a lot of things to build upon now,
you know, I mean, I like shake ups, I like
chaos on the field, and certainly we got some of it.
I think you can describe a bit of it to
the look ahead for these rivalry games. That come up
(01:26:33):
this next weekend. Uh here over the right. So that's
where maybe you got a little bit of a lackluster
effort thinking you could just bully your way through a win.
And look, Illinois gave Michigan all they can handle and
that was just a fun kind of grueling watch along
the way, me being the big tent apologist for the network,
(01:26:54):
I thought Kentucky gave Georgia game yesterday. No, I did,
right that you're within that striking distance. Yeah, opportunities, Yeah,
that's it right, you're but again the same thing. All right,
what's ahead on our schedule? This is one that maybe
we can you know, not play our a game, maybe
leave a few things out of the playbook. And well
(01:27:15):
they needed every bit of it. You know, I hate
it all the time? Is that true? When the when
the player suits up and they're playing, and like when
the Alabama's playing Austin p I mean I it's kind
of like, I don't think us to could have won
with twelve guys. What are you? But are you playing
the same reps necessarily? Right? Usc It's sad, A lot
(01:27:37):
a lot of guys down for chunks of games. The
last couple of weeks in anticipation of what's left on
their schedule. But do players look at the uniform and say,
you know, these guys have pushed up? Is that you
don't put out as hard? It's Is it that way?
Is that? Is that the thing in the minds of players. Yes,
is it very real thing that you have to overcome.
And yeah, you can sit here and talk about a
(01:27:59):
team being good and all these other things, but uh,
it looks a difficult thing to navigate, um, trying to
get your team ready to play each and every week
when day man, they can look at the schedule, they
can look at the stats, they can read the bios
and see if guys are one stars and two stars
and those things, and so they know. So the hardest
thing to do is to teach your team to be
(01:28:20):
mature enough to take care of business when it's right there. Um,
And and that that's that's the job that Nick Saban
and and all those elite coaches have to struggle with.
But yeah, it's hard. It's hard to say, hey, guys,
this team can knock us off when they look around, like,
come on, coach, what we what are we doing? What
we say? Let me extend that to uh the NFL
game that we watched on Thursday night, And I think
(01:28:43):
this segue is perfectly from a team to me that
down the stretch of that game, it looked like Vrabel
and the Titans had slapped the taste and will out
of the Packers. And I'll give you a play right
here that that really stands stood out for me at
the time, and I ranted and raved it. I got
really right in the face. They were worried about me
in the studios. But Packers get the ball and it's
(01:29:05):
twenty seven seventeen and we're looking at six fifty nine
left in the game. Alright, First and ten, Rogers passed
to Jones three yards, okay, fine, next snap, six sixteen,
Aaron Jones right in Tennessee thirty seven four yards fine,
thirty three, five thirty two left on the clock. When
(01:29:28):
they snapped the ball, Aaron Rodgers incomplete short passed to
Lazard and then fourth and three, he basically just chucked
it down the field, kind of shrugged and walked off
the field incomplete turnover on downs Like there were just
a number of plays and sequences in this game where
it was like, all right, we're waving the white flag. Look,
I get it. Look, Week fourteen is the bye week
(01:29:51):
that could either be a great help to you or
a hindrance. And when you're limping along like they are,
I get it. And you know, there there's the wow,
this is just a grind at this point. We need
to get away and you've got a long break after
this game. But there were just moments and down the
stretch for Aaron Rodgers like that will that, you know,
(01:30:12):
being pissed at everybody. He took that abhorrent sack and
they just got up, handed the ball and walked off,
like where's the throwing down, where's the anger? Where's the
frustration of what this game has been? It was kind
of like, I'm resigned to this. This is where we quit.
He's quit. He's no but that. But that's the question,
(01:30:32):
and he said it very siscinctly. For me, it's that
question of you know, you're looking across the line of scrimmage,
when do you know as a team, hey, we're cooked.
And so I'm fighting for the better part of value
and Mike and that, more than anything, would be the
reason why Jordan's love should replace him, not the coast
of lack of perform. It's not the clast of lack
of productivity because he quit mentally. That's why I think
(01:30:56):
when you have a player like Aaron, I think he
let us know exact who he is and what he's
about throughout the last couple off seasons. He's a more
evolved Uh, he's an evolved player. He has he has
found other interests in his life and not saying that
(01:31:17):
football isn't his passion, but it changes your priority shift.
You could substitute Lebron James name too in the same deal,
same thing, maybe, Yeah, because they also look around and
you know when you have a chance, a chance to win,
and you also know, like I'm pretty good when it
(01:31:39):
comes to my Hall of Fame legacy. I want the
proposed Now, I'm just getting my money and you know,
we'll see, we'll see what just plays out. Yeah and
so and so that that's where they had. It's a
weird spot, but it's the spot that they definitely are in. Yeah.
I called it Thursday the Derek Bell I don't know
if you remember them when he did operations shut down
(01:32:03):
because he was mad about circumstance and what was going on,
just like, hey, I'm done operations shutdown. I remember we
used that as our headline on the front page of
Yahoo Sports. I still have a print out of it.
It was such a seismic kind of thing, and that's
kind of what it felt like with with Rogers and
in his post games some of his comments, the thumb
came up pretty readily. I'm not saying that it's not
(01:32:24):
affecting you, but the rest of the the stuff that's
going on in game and some of the decisions, some
of the misthrows, whatever else. Right, there were a couple
of throws to Lazard only the operational efficiency five catches
on eleven targets, but a couple of them were just
flat out missus from Rogers. But the came front and center. Yeah,
(01:32:47):
the thumb came front center. But regards to that, he's
not been the same man, and so like, here's the thing, Okay,
So when you talked about it a couple of years ago,
he responded with the m v P stuff. So people
are like, oh, you're wrong or whatever. But there's been
signs of this. We've seen him diminishing. And I say this,
(01:33:08):
we are clouded by Tom Brady being able to play
as long as he played The game was never intended
for the quarterback to be thirty seven, thirty eight, thirty
nine playing, even the narrative of oh, when you draft
a quarterback, this should solidify your position for fifteen years. No,
(01:33:28):
if you get ten years out of the quarterback position,
that is great. So that's why all of the consternation
about Cam Newton or drafting the athletic quarterback and what
are you going to do and how are they going
to age? I don't care how they ate. Cam Newton
gave me eight great years. That's more than most. I mean,
that's average. He gave you ten years total. So the
(01:33:53):
way that you should look at quarterbacks is can I
get them through two contracts? Anything beyond that is gravy.
But us get out of this. Oh the quarterback is
gonna play for twenty years, because let's look at the
end of Drew Brees is tenure, right, and so like
that's where we're at. People are mad at Matt Ryan.
He's thirty seven thirty eight. Do you see how violent
(01:34:15):
and physical the game is. You're not supposed to be
an older player play You're not. I gotta say, though,
Bucky and Andy, that run from Matt Ryan last week
might have been my favorite play of the NFL season
because for a moment it was a look how don't
think he ever had a thirty seven yard run when
he was young, But for that one, for one moment,
(01:34:36):
we were all Matt Ryan in that moment as he
got his job back and Jeff Saturday brought home a win.
We'll see if that continues today as India Indianapolis takes
the field. Mike Garmen, Andy Furrman, Bucky Brooks with you
here a Fox Football Sunday, Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next,
the game of the day, When will Kirk Cousins turn
(01:34:57):
into a pumpkin? That is the headline you've read all week?
Is this the week? And did Micah Parsons throwing his
teammates under the bus saying I'm carrying you? Was that
enough to inspire a big performance here against the Vikings?
Will break that game down and three others next year
on Fox. Evidently you can watch movies in their entirety
now on Twitter, it's the Wild West. Everything's going, Oh,
(01:35:23):
so there you go. If you miss some of the week,
let's see, there you go. That's a good callback. Andy,
He's like, I gotta put a camera in a parent's
hand and figure out the streaming process. But well, we'll
figure it out in time. We gotta we gotta work
on that, Bucky. If nothing else for next we got,
(01:35:43):
we got, we got months before the next season. Just
go win the city championship and then those resources find
themselves available. I'll right, I'll be like Andy Dufrayne and Shawshank.
I'll write two letters a week to l Way that
he needs to come up big. Oh so how about this,
he texts, He texts the other day about uh, the
(01:36:05):
team advanced and being proud and audited other stuff. So
I can never knock uh, maybe our most distinguished uh
for doing it. He's he's been a big part every
behind the scene. So yeah, it should be fun. It's
fantastic stuff. All right, guys. We got a full slate
of games ahead of some some greatness. A big one
later on tonight at so Far Stadium is Kansas City,
(01:36:28):
and the Chargers got flexed out there. We got a
game in Mexico City tomorrow, but right now we've got
one in Minnesota that we need to get into. Cowboys
and Vikings, all right, the Cowboys a narrow one and
a half point favorite on the road, the Vikings eight
and one, four and four and one against the spread.
For y'all uh the Cowboys six and three, six and
(01:36:51):
three against the number. Obviously reeling from that loss to
the Packers, where maybe leaned forward for that game Thursday night,
thinking a head the Packers with a little bit of
life now that got stuffed right back out by Mike
Ratable and company as they flew around before the Cowboys.
It brought up some ill feelings. You had the offense
talking about um Dalton Schultz saying, hey, we didn't have
(01:37:14):
guys in the right cleats, the right uniform, the right attitude.
On the other side, Michael Parsons had a long soliloquy
early in the week talking about getting run over and
the process and how if it doesn't get better, basically
calling out all the guys that he's been covering up
all year. Bucky is how I read it, that gap
integrity was a problem and that he's flying around and
(01:37:36):
getting highlight real stuff that he's just as soon happy
not to have to do. Yeah, I think there there's
some truth to that. I think he wants to make
sure that everyone is doing what they're supposed to do
when it comes to the run defense. But let's be honest,
the teams that played the best run defense are gonna
be the ones that advanced for in to tournament because
when you look at the playoff teams, they all can
run the ball. And I know this is gonna make
(01:37:59):
some people mad, but I feel like football is coming back, uh,
coming back to the old school eighties and nineties ball
where the running game is going to be prominent. Now
we may never see the celebration of running backs that
we saw, but the running game is a factor. And
if the Cowboys do not fix their run defense, they
will not be going far in the postseason if they
(01:38:19):
even make the postseason. Look at that Andy, he played
right into my hands because you know me, I like
my three yards and a cloud of dust. I worship
at Joey. Yeah, but this, this this game today could
be an air attack because look the fighting he's gonna
worry about ceedee lamb. He's done a real good job
of the Cowboys. But then again, it's all about Justin
(01:38:40):
Jefferson and Bucky even mentioned earlier today that he's a
dark course for the m v P in the league.
How do you stop Justin Jefferson as the key. You
knocked the ball down and you don't have a great catch.
I mean, that's how they won from behind the beat
the Bills. It was all about Justin Jefferson hundred nine
yards and a touchdown and one of the greatest catches
as ever that one hit to catch. So to me,
(01:39:02):
it's hard to go against the viking'still writing a seven
game winning streak, which is tough in the National Football League.
I like the Vikes. Yeah, I sent cam Lewis a
tape of the old peanut punches. Here's what you do,
falls up, he gets no chance to catch it running
through it. But yes, to your point, Andy, the vikings
(01:39:23):
on a roll and and we were paying attention to him.
I think from a national perspective, it was like, yeah,
it's Kirk Cousins. Eventually it's gonna flow. But you got
Dalvin Cook. You the aforementioned Justin Jefferson, who, outside of
a couple of hiccups early in the season, has been
just phenomenal on a week to week basis. You bring
in Howkinson, all of this comes together to make for
an offensive juggernaut for the Cowboys. How much do you
(01:39:46):
do you think we see Ezekiel Elliott today, Bucky. I
mean he's supposed to be clear to go. Tony Pollard
has been fantastic in instead, but clearly balance here and
trying to push more out of that offense is an
imperative here. Tony has been terrific, but um and it
was their running back coach, Skip Pete a buddy mine
who who said this. Uh, there's a difference between the
(01:40:08):
sedan and a fast car, a speedy car of Lamborghini.
Tony Pollo is more than Lamborghini, so you can go
fast for a little bit, but he can't necessarily drive
you across the country, whereas Zekiel Elliott is the steady plotter.
And so what happens is you need both of them.
You want to sizzle from Tony Pollard while getting the
(01:40:29):
steady anti production from Ezekia Elliott. I think if he
does come back, I think he resumes his role as
the number one. But Tony Pollard has proven that the
more touches the better, So maybe we raise his carries
and reduce some of Dak Frescott's workload and make sure
that the offense still remains a thing that has run
through the running backs as opposed to to the quarterback.
(01:40:50):
He's the best. He do you ever tell you about
the stuff of the Truck and the Trailer with quarterbacks? Oh,
it's one of my favorite works. We're going to design
a T shirt and sell them and a little cartoon
quarterback hands after where they belong. Maybe maybe that becomes
a bit Bucky. We start doing digital video files and
and this week's trucks tell what he should do? This
(01:41:13):
could go national, that this is serious. Now we are national,
go ahead with national awards. And when Matt used to
get out his awards at the end of the year,
I think Bucky Brooks should give out the Truck and
Trailer Awards for quarterbacks and give out T shirts that
pictures a little trucks on him, like a picture of
Patrick Mahomes sitting in a truck that the actual truck awards.
And he could do it promote NFL dot com. He
(01:41:35):
writes dot com on Friday, we'll do it here on
the radio, and he mails out the T shirts to
the to the players. Be huge, big like that. Marketing, Yeah,
that is marketing. We can we can use little talk
talking toys and all kinds of other stuff. Get him
out there, make sure the trucks radio two good for you,
(01:41:58):
good for you. Well, just like like he likes to
run the football, it's the same thing. First that movement, this, thisward,
this truck and trailer would Yeah. No, I've made a
couple of notes on my my sheet here and we
will certainly get that in. I'm gonna look for the
Cowboys to rebound. I don't know how much they get
(01:42:19):
out of Zeke Elliott, but that combo for me could
spell trouble and up. Well, you want to address that one, fair, Bucky. Yeah,
I mean, here's here's the thing about Mike McCarthy and
those guys like I love the fact that he is
delegated authority amongst his coaches, but he was a guy
(01:42:41):
who won a Super Bowl as a play call and
so it's still baffles me that he has allowed Kellen
Moore to kind of dictate his fate as the office
of play calling. Makes no sense. I don't get it.
But we'll see. We'll see how this plays out. We'll
see if he's able to retain his position as the
Cowboys desprobably hanging on other people to keep him around.
We'll start another T shirt line of how do we
(01:43:03):
superimpose Sean Payton and new many different jerseys. Maybe Sean
McVeigh leaves all right, does he want the Ramps? Maybe
the Chargers, maybe the Cowboy. I mean, look, everybody's up
up for it, So you know, maybe a paper doll
series little flat Stanleys that we just put little suits
on him. I don't know. We'll go along the line
as we go. Fucking brooks Andy ferm and me Mike
(01:43:25):
Harmon here Fox Football Sunday having fun where you got
three more games to go? Uh coming up, and we'll
get into the fun and exciting world of Sunday Night
Football has become me alive from the tire Act dot Com,
Fox Sports Radio Studios. But first we got Nick Cope.
He's got what's trending and all those injury lists for
you fantasy players. Yeah, and things are trending pretty well
at the moment. According to reports of following players are
(01:43:48):
expected to play. And let's start with the game. You
guys were just talking about Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson Cowboys
running back Ezekiel Elliott. Things have been trending well for
them throughout the week, but they are expected to play Also,
Chargers receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are expected to
play tonight against the Chiefs. Raiders receiver DeVante Adams and
Ravens tight end Mark Andrews also set to play. The
(01:44:11):
one notable guy not expected to go that's been questionable
as Ravens running back Gus Edwards. Some news items, ESPN
reports that Rams receiver Cooper Cup is out six to
eight weeks with that high ankle sprain. So unless the
Rams can really turn things around here and make the playoffs,
there's a good chance we have seen the last of
Cup this season. NFL media reports that Broncos coach Nathaniel
(01:44:34):
Hackett is handing play calling duties over to his quarterbacks
coach Clint Kubiak. NFL media also reporting Cowboys and Giants
have emerged as the two favorites to land free agent
receiver Odell Beckham Jr. He will visit both teams after
the Thanksgiving holiday. NFL media says Commander's quarterback Taylor Heineke
(01:44:54):
will be the team starter moving forward, even when Carson
Wentz has recovered from his finger injury, and the Eagles,
according to ESPN, expect to have Tina and Dallas Goddard
back sometime this regular season. He had that shoulder injury
on Monday night against the Commanders and was placed on
injured reserve this week. Let's go back to Mike Harmon,
Andy Ferman and Bucky Brooks. Thanks Nick, you'll you'll be
(01:45:17):
happy to know there was no flag on the play,
The turnover counted, and uh, the guy was fine. Ten
thousand dollars seems like a fair trade and all of
it minute National Football League. That one was egregious in
so many levels, Fellas says. We come back to you
(01:45:38):
live from the Tire Act dot Com, Fox Sports Radio Studios,
Mike Carmen, Fucky Brooks, Andy Furman with you. All right,
let's get into our next game. As we flow through
Chiefs at Chargers Adds, you heard from Nick. We got
a couple of guys returning for your Los Angeles Chargers.
You've got Williams, You've got Alan. How much they're ready
to go? I don't know. Just the idea you that
(01:46:00):
Keenan Allen will be back in uniform means great things.
Justin Herbert firing along as with without two of his
biggest weapons. Certainly here the last few weeks. On the
other side, Kansas City may have found a little gem
that was cast off from the Giants and can Darius
Tony and after a big game tapped tiptoeing and uh
(01:46:22):
hopping in on one foot into the end zone a
week ago. He's front and center because you got a
bunch of injuries in the Kansas City receiving corps as well.
Patrick Mahomes the stat that keeps getting thrown up. He's
got an interception in fourth straight. I remember days when
guys used to put the ball in harm's way. I'm
okay with it, so long as you take care of
it your other drives, uh and and keep out of
(01:46:43):
those perilous situations with regularity, you know, red zone kind
of stuff, and taking advantage of opportunities there. But for
the Chiefs seven and two on the season, Chargers trying
to keep a heartbeat both for their coach and and
for any playoff hopes. Five and four, two and two
at big Sunday Night football affair for Justin Herbert, maybe
(01:47:03):
to have America rekindled their love affair with him. Uh yeah, maybe,
I don't know. What do you think, Bucky Well, I
mean to look Justin Herbert is an outstanding player, but
we need to see more. We need to see more
consistency from everyone else around him, and the consistency is
(01:47:23):
in the availability when they're available, Like this office looks
like it can go. But I worry not about Justin Herbert.
I worry about his super smart coach who kind of
compromises the team's ability to win. Which Brandon Staley will
show up, the one that goes for it in random
times and bad situations that he can't necessarily explain. I
(01:47:45):
don't know, So I worry less about the player more
about the coach. If you can tell me which Brandon
State he's going to show up, the one that plays
the game not necessarily the right way, but plays it
by the odds, I'll go with the charges. But if not, yeah,
they're gonna have a tough time. They could have a
tough time to tell. Why the Kansas Cities going as
a charge of team that the defense rights at the
bottom against the run the league. There's no doubt about that.
The Chiefs last week, if you follow that game, they
(01:48:07):
average almost six yards to carry and they went over
the Jaguars. So what are they gonna do today? They're
gonna run, run, run, bang up the run pretty good
to set up the pass and then that's that's what
they're gonna do. And they have one of the best
red zone offenses in the National Football League. They win,
and they win easily. Today the Chiefs. Anytime we can
get a celebration of Isaiah Pachecko on the show, I'm
(01:48:28):
all for it, Waiver Wire Darling for fantasy purposes. Hopefully
he can help carry you to a victory here in
an all important week eleven. To your point, Andy, as
we go through the the numbers and the metrics of
it all, you look at the Chargers squad. Uh, the
expectations were immense and everybody's had injuries. But having Keenan
Allen to me is a big piece to this. Giving
(01:48:51):
up twenty five a game, are the Chargers when we
look at the Chiefs given up about twenty three and
not not a huge differential. I'm gonna look, I'm gonna
call on Herbert to get it done here and Dicker
the Kicker to be your hero. Dicker the Kicker, Hey,
any guy that could go and win two Special Teams
Players of the Week with two different teams after getting
(01:49:14):
cut and then having to prepare for a game instead
of going to a Carry Underwood show. Is all right
by me, tell you that's how we do it. Here.
He's Andy Ferman, He's Bucky Brooks on My Carmen. It's
Fox Football Sunday. Here, Fox Sports Radio. Two more games
to decide here in our week eleven preview, and of
course Bucky and Andy's best of the week to come
(01:49:36):
here on Fox Football Sunday on Fox Sports Radio. Hey,
welcome back in Fox Sports Radio. Fox Football Sunday Live
from the tire Act dot Com studios. Mike Carmen, Bucky Brooks,
Andy Ferman with you here. Two more games to preview,
and then we'll get into Andy and Bucky's best for
the week ahead. All the excitement flowing through, I mean,
(01:49:59):
countdown the kickoff and fantasy playoff pushes, maybe your wagering action.
Countdown to kick off an hour and fifteen minutes from now,
getting you set for all that. But for now, let's
get into the big, uh, well, a big battle in
the a f C North Bengals at Steelers. All right,
Bengals four point favorites on the road in Pittsburgh, winners
(01:50:24):
of three of their last four are the Bengals that
lost the Battle for Ohio where they were thumped by
the Browns. But otherwise the offense is coming. I've thirty
thirty five and forty two the last three wins. Okay,
it's the Saints, the Falcons and Panthers. But you know what,
you beat who's on the schedule, fellas, and you try
to find those positivity moments along the way. Hey, they
(01:50:47):
line them up, I gotta knock them down. That's what
I liked, you know, hearing out of the TCU locker
room yesterday. Everybody can try to tear us down. All
we gotta go is win. Same thing from the Bengals
right now as they float through twenty points six points
per game allowed, making Fitzpatrick gonna give it the old
college trying. He was supposed to be out a couple
of weeks after an appendectomy, said, to hell with this.
(01:51:09):
Joe Burrow took time off. I'm not taking time off.
I'm trying to get on the field and shut him down. Yeah,
this is this is interesting because the Pittsburgh Steelers and
the Bengals have this this rivalry. I feel like the
Bengals are kind of finding their way again, this is
a huge game for them. They're sitting there five and four,
(01:51:30):
they can get the six and four. I think they
understand the magnitude of the moment because of that, I
think that is the difference. I think they're motivated, uh,
to know that they can get back into this race
and maybe find themselves back into the division title. Uh,
let's go to Bengals and this one. You know you're
gonna go with the Bengals, but ILL tell you what,
It's not gonna be easy because Pittsburgh's coming in with
(01:51:51):
a lot of confidence right now. They beat the Saints,
Bengals will be rested because they had a bye week.
But here's the thing. Cincinnati already lost to Pittsburgh early
on the way back in Week one in a crazy circumstances.
And now if they want to beat them, they better
keep Joe Burrow upright, which they've been doing over the
last several weeks. But in that first game, I remember
(01:52:13):
lineback Alex Highsmith sat Burrow three times and they knocked
them down seven times. So maybe things have gotten better
with that offensive line. They learned to coexistence, or to speak,
and they're playing better together. This is a tough game,
Bengals of five and four. I know what I hear
about from the cit SAUNTI Bengals camp as well. You
know last year we were five and four and that's
when we took off and went to the super Bowl.
(01:52:35):
We'll see what happens today. Yeah, I'll just refer back
to that Week one loss in overtime, thirty two downs
to thirteam for Pittsburgh to twenty six final scores. All
that matters. But I don't think Joe Burrow and company
are turning the ball and losing the turnover battle five
nothing again and they terrorized Kenny. Yeah, turnovers are always
(01:52:56):
the major factor in these games. But yeah, you're right,
I don't think they turn over Forty and a half
is your total there? All right? Last one coming up
from Mexico City, Forty Niners versus Cardinals. All right, forty
Niners or eight point favorites. Forty three and a half
is your total. But the couple of large questions in
(01:53:18):
this one, right, everybody waiting for San Francisco. They're gonna
make the surge, They're gonna roll Seattle. After the loss
in Germany, everybody said, see Tom Brady got him they're
they're fallible. They played a pretty good second half after
a slow start. Uh and and Tampa wins that game.
So I don't think they fall off the radar as
quickly as folks want. But the coronation of the forty
(01:53:40):
niners and what they're all about. Uh, the the articles
are there, the thought pieces are all there. That's all
fine and good. But on the other side in Arizona,
you got questions Kyler Murray, is he gonna play Colt
McCoy to thirty eight and a score? Yes, it's the Rams.
The Rams are down. But you know when he took
care of business and he completed sevent his throws. So
(01:54:02):
I ask you this, Bucky Brooks, coach, analyst, man of
man of the people, NFL dot com, NFLUH, Colt McCoy
does does he give Cliff Kingsbury a little uh opportunity
to breathe a little more as opposed to one Kyler
Murray's under center? Maybe so, because I think, uh with
(01:54:23):
Coote McCoy, I mean, it's like having kids, right. One
of your kids may paint inside the lines where they're
going through their coloring book, and everything is nice and
neat and tidy. That's Coote McCoy. Uh. Calor Murray is
the kid that is all outside, but he makes beautiful masterpieces,
but they just don't necessarily uh go according to script.
So for Cliff kingsbury's probably easier to manage Coote McCoy,
(01:54:47):
but Caylin Murray is significantly more talented. Uh he also
commands a significantly fatter paycheck. So as much as we
may talk about Coote McCoy is not a meritography at
quarterback when you're paying the kind of dollar is that
the Cardinals are paying to Cala Murray. Is a cute
story to think about Cope McCoy being the quarterback for
a little bit. Calabury is going to be the quarterback
(01:55:08):
and Cliff Kingsbury has to figure out how to help
Cala Murray play better. You know, it's interesting you always
guys talk about turnovers. Get this, forty niners and five
and four. The forty niners have two turnovers and their
five wins and their four losses that have eleven. So
I gotta control of football. You protect the football right there,
and you talk about last week's when seventeen win over
(01:55:28):
the Rams for the Cardinals. I still don't believe in them.
I still don't believe in that ball club. I really don't.
So one factor though that we haven't touched on, is
the altitude in Mexico City. Will that be a factor
in this ball game? I mean it could be. It
could be a significant factor because it takes you a
while to figure out how to play in hand. It
(01:55:48):
takes you a while to catch your breath. It's very
similar to when teams have had to go to Denver. Uh,
it takes you a while. If you're not ready for it,
it can it can overwhelm you. So yeah, it take
a little while for these teams to adjust Mexico City.
But drinking water could be a problem. They brought in
a lot of bottled water there, and I gotta think
(01:56:10):
they got the note you did as a tourist. Yeah,
but you got. You gotta be careful though, because it's
not only just your bottom water, but yeah, your iced tea. Well,
what they're using to cook the food you're eating. Yeah,
they've been a packet of couple extra rolls of toilet paper.
Happy Sunday morning to y'all Sports Radio. Handy Ferman f
(01:56:35):
s look he cut to the chase. Bucky, that's what
it's all. We can dance around it. And Andy said,
I'm plowing straight through. He was the cruck guy. I want,
I want double play, I want the double pick. He
was the truck in that scenario. So we'll put Andy
Ferman's head. I have to at the front of things
for this week. DeAndre Hopkins also looking like a game
(01:56:55):
time decision. Missed some practice time during the week, certainly
one of those things the monitor for fantasy purposes the
worst of all scenarios here. Let me go find a
secondary or tertiary receiver for an offense that's been sputtering,
Odell Odell, sign him and send him to Mexico overnight. Yeah.
I like that. O'Dell is one of many topics we'll
(01:57:18):
get into in the in the next hour. Cliff Kingsbury, though,
fresh off a contract extension, is there any warmth to
his seat there in the desert? I mean he got
a contract, a sense, and he and his buddy gentlemanager
Steve Kins, so there. I think they're kind of there
for a minute. I think the one thing is normally
you're tied to the quarterback. I think the entire brain
trust has to get together with a quarterback and figure
(01:57:39):
out what does the quarterback like to do when it
comes to plane. Uh, they have to get him up speed.
When you make a almost fifty million dollar commitment to
the quarterback, your fate is tied to his production and
how many wins you're able to get with him. So
they got to get him right. All rights to see
them on hard knocks. I don't think he's a leader.
I don't like Kingsbury. He's not a leader. He's a win.
(01:57:59):
I mean he is a winner, but I mean he
whim a whip. I don't think he's There's a difference
in being a play called being a leader. He's not
a hit. Coach is different. You guys are the best.
This is fantastic, tough. He's Bucky and that's Andy. I'm Mike.
(01:58:25):
NFL Media reports that free agent receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
Plans to visit the Cowboys and Giants after Thanksgiving, and
the Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hacket is turning over
play calling duties to quarterbacks coach Clint Kubiak. ESPN reports
Los Angeles ramstar receiver Cooper Cup expected him as six
to eight weeks after undergoing ankle surgery. This past Tuesday,
(01:58:47):
in college football Saturday Night, South Carolina blew out fifth
ranked Tennessee sixty three to thirty eight. Spencer Rattler through
for four yards and six touchdowns. Tennessee quarterback Hennon Hooker
left the him of the fourth quarter with a leg injury.
Seventh ranked USC held off number sixteen U c l
AT to advance to the Pact twelve Championship Game. Arkansas
(01:59:10):
knocked off fourteen ranked Old Miss forty two to twenty seven.
Arkansas running back Rocket Sanders ran for two thirty two.
I'm Isaac Law and Crown. Greetings, Welcome in another hour
of Fox Football Sunday. Here live from the tire ract
dot Com studios tire act dot com. We'll help you
(01:59:32):
get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road
hazard protection and over ten thousand recommended installers tire ract

brand to drop down all of that uh to make
it easy to get back on the road. In some cases,
if you you can get them to deliver it to
your home or office in the install it for you
(01:59:54):
while you're drinking a cup of coffee. Bucky. That's about
as good as it gets. It is about as good
as it gets. I'm okay with that. See ease and
flow the website. Uh, nice and easy for you, Nice
and straightforward my garment, Bucky Brooks with you thanks to
Andy Furman. Last hour. A lot of great debates, some
snark that the three of us fire back and forth
(02:00:14):
as you would do and once you get to know
each other in these radio circles. So uh, previewing some
games and having a great time with you all. Obviously
a lot of attention on the game that has been
moved to Detroit, Cleveland and Buffalo. All the great videos
over the last couple of days. I'm seeing one on
my monitor now as I bring this up. The fans
(02:00:35):
that we're digging out players so they can get to
the airport. What do you got? I don't know. I
might have a flamethrower back here. Can you help us here?
I have my MIDI Bobcats what whatever it is? You're
talking six and a half seven feet of snow in
Buffalo and a orchard parks. So, but they got there
safely timing Uh and the energies associated with that I
(02:00:59):
got imagine playing a role at least early in the game, Bucky, Yeah,
timing and everything, certain plays of role. I think it's
just different. You know, your comfy confinds of your your
home Stateum, no one is. So he's trying to settle in.
And one of the things that people won't talk about is,
you know, you go from playing outside the inside and
try to locate the ball, uh against the backdrop of
(02:01:21):
the rooftop. You know, understanding like no win. So how
does that affect how we directional punt? And kid can
uh do we kick from more distance? It's just a
different just a different environment and you don't have the
opportunity to really acclimate to the situation. And I know
it's no different than a row game, but it is
different because you know, you're supposed to be at home
(02:01:43):
and so it just takes a mind adjustment to be
able to play well there. And so the Sean mcdermoan,
his team is to tested their maturity, like we've talked
about it, but their competitive maturity, because great teams understand
they find a way to win regardless of circumstance. Where
are the Buffalo Bills right now? Well, after a tough
loss like. That's the other thing is you were probably
(02:02:05):
hoping for some creature comforts of home, right. You build
your team in the off season to a degree to
take advantage of some of these circumstances. Obviously not banking
on seven ft dropping on you. When you talk about
kickers and what they do with the wind, how you
execute your offensive game, all of that comes together. We
saw the point spread go up a full touchdown as
(02:02:29):
this got moved fifty six thousand seats. Chris p and
I were just talking about it. I got Chris Perfette. Uh,
he's got all his work covering the the Lions, who
the Bills will see on Thursday. But it's the the
idea that you have to move, and it's supposed to
be a lot of Bills fans from the reports that
are out there online, so they will in theory have
(02:02:50):
a bit of that home game scenario. But it's nothing
like playing, uh, your normal stadium, your normal rhythms, drive
to the office kind of things. Nope, now you're in
another city. Now you get to make that home for
a full week. So I guess maybe there's an advantage
of their long term, but in the interim you got.
You got a tough slate against Cleveland, a team that
(02:03:11):
even after ten weeks Bucky some questions of who they are,
what they are and waiting on Deshaun Watson and come back. Yeah,
but as we're important for the Cleveland Browns that they
continue to try and stack wins if they want to
be in the playoff hunt. Uh. When Deshaun Watson comes back,
they have to find a way to win some of
these games. And so they've given away some games that
(02:03:31):
you would think that this roster was talented enough to
be able to get them. But they are what they are.
The big thing is Kevin Stefanski has to start calling
the game with the Shaun Watson in mind. Uh, running game,
how we set them up for play action, those things
you can't do to thistiary of the same stuff with
your Kobeer said, but you have to get in that minster.
You don't want the first time that you think about
(02:03:52):
calling the game. But Deshaun Watson is when they open
up against the Houston Texas, he needs to start kind
of putting some of these things together which were crawing
to work over top, but overtimes necessary three and six
right now, as you float through Nick Chubb. Obviously everybody's
all American. When when we put it all down on paper,
Bucky Uh, they had that big win over the Bangles
(02:04:15):
that snapped a four game losing streak, and we can
obviously go back to it, and it is a larger
philosophical question for you at what we talked about the
collegiate and professional level. Right Oftentimes, when we're looking at
our college football slates, especially late in the season, of
all right, who deserves to be ranked? Where is this
a playoff worthy team? Whatever? You start going down and
(02:04:35):
looking for top twenty five wins or top ten wins,
depending on how much you want to narrow it down,
and then it becomes a well, they were a top
ten team in Week four and then we beat them
up and the slide began. So how good were they?
How you know, young and and building? Were we those
kind of things? Likewise, you know in the NFL, you
(02:04:56):
know you can you have now three and six, So
that game's long in the rear view meting. But that
loss to the Jets, as improbable as it was, you're
realizing the Jets are actually a pretty resourceful and solid
all around team. Quarterback accepted. Sorry, Zach Wilson Truthers, I've
got to be real with you here. Uh, it's it's
not been pretty. I still like a lot of the
(02:05:17):
component parts, but we just haven't seen it really come
together with regularity thus far. But does that is that
creep in a little bit of you know, that's while
not an acceptable loss, it's a it's a little better
loss given the fact that they've run off some wins.
I mean, like, you build your confidence when you continue
to win and you continue to find different ways to win.
(02:05:39):
Because they found different ways to win, it will give them,
uh that boost, that energy. Now, you don't like dropping
the games that you hit, but ultimately, in an aster
football league, man, if you can just win games by
one point, it doesn't matter what it looks like because
in a couple of weeks people don't remember. It gives
you the confidence. The number that we always talk about
his tin. You get the tim wins normally, did it
(02:06:01):
gets you in the postseason? You get to eleven and twelve,
Now you begin to cook with gas and you're talking
about significant, a significant higher seating in most instances. So look,
they should be very very confident because they have one
a handful of games in a row. But now it's
about bidding upon debt. Yeah, it's a curious squad as
we go forward, and certainly for Cleveland today, Uh, the
(02:06:22):
game against Buffalo, Buffalo heavy favorite. I gotta imagine all
all advantages. Hey, no win knocking down on the Josh
Allen deep balls. Uh in this one, Yeah, no win
knocking down. But I'm worried about Josh Allen because the
turnovers are popping back up, well, the red zone turnovers certainly,
and he couldn't find get away from Patrick Peterson. He
just sad to find the ball. Greg Newsome ruled out
(02:06:45):
suffering a concussion in practice for the Cleveland secondary. That
was not a groat too, is Northwestern thing. It is
germane to the to the game, Bucky, just so people,
but yeah, those Northwestern guys and just for giggles, it
was very very conn me for you to drop that
in at that moment. But I get it, you know,
trying to make sure everyone understands the vulnerabilities that could
(02:07:06):
exist if Newsome is not there. It could mean a
big day for Stefon Digs or Gabe Davis or one
of those other guys and you're right in the comfy
confines of uh in the North Stadium. Baby Josh Allan
gets off the snot he just hasn't played smart football
in the red zone and you're winning quarterbacks, they find
a way to take what the defense gives them and
(02:07:28):
they don't get greedy. Unnecessarily gets a little greedy sometimes.
That's kind of as went back and watching that game
again against Minnesota and one of those instant, classic kind
of things that you go through, and that's the thing
right where you start trusting, Hey, my arm is strong
enough to get into a spot or in in one
case right where Peterson popped under he thought the receiver
(02:07:50):
was gonna come under him and you and behold, it's
right in the bread basket. Yeah. I mean that's you know,
that's some of the things, and everyone has to be
on the same page. I think the main thing for
Josh though, is it is to give in the curse.
When you're very talented, When you're very talented like he is,
you always are pushing the envelope right. You always feel
like there's a play to be made. And for him,
(02:08:12):
he has to understand situation and circumstance. Where we had
on the field, what's the situation, what's the circumstance. Do
I need to go for it? Or are we okay
if we just get three points out of this drive?
Um where we at is ken Dorsey constantly given him
that information and when the Reds, I want to make
sure you take care of the football, you don't like it,
throw it away, all of those things because for all
(02:08:35):
the things that Josh Ellen has accomplished in the league,
he's still a relatively young player, and so sometimes they
need those tips and reminders just to keep them on
point and make sure that they understand how critical it
is to protect the football. Now, let's go to another
situation that we'll we'll get in Denver. It's been a
lot about Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson run and obliquely you know,
(02:08:56):
and we bring him in dangentially to this because you
got the coaching change up with Nathaniel Hackett seeding play
calling to Clint Kobi, a former offensive coordinator in Minnesota.
Offense ran pretty well comes here to Denver, and we've
known it's the running joke, right. They're giving up nothing,
(02:09:18):
they're scoring nothing, fourteen points six points per game scored
and just a hair well over sixteen per game, allowed
sixteen points six So the running line being if you
just scored seventeen a game. Obviously we know that's not
the way an ebb and flow of the season happens,
but legitimately we're talking about an offense that had such potential.
(02:09:41):
I know, losing Tim Patrick before the season, maybe I
care about that more than anybody outside of Denver, uh
in terms of what he might have meant to just
be hey, just move those chains kind of things. But
Javante Williams gets hurt. You brought back Melvin Gordon, even
though it didn't seem like you really loved Melvin Gordon
at all, and you got there weird hybrid at running back,
(02:10:01):
your wide receivers. I think you got a bunch of twos.
As much as I like Judy is now now injured,
but Courtland Sutton and keep on going down the line.
You got twos and threes, and then Russell Wilson playing
some really bad, inefficient football. It all just adds up
to a disaster and really stymying what has been one
(02:10:22):
of the best defensive efforts I think we've seen from
a squad. Hell, they were able to trade Bradley Chubb
and never missed a beat. You know it's funny because
you know, I look at one a couple of things.
Nathaniel Hacking give it up play calling to me, I'm
I'm I'm worried about that because I'm wanting to contain
Hackett is listening to the outside. Nowith, if you feel
(02:10:44):
compelled to be the play caller, why now, I know
it's not going well, but why do you feel like
now Clint Kubiak will be able to do a better job.
Will you give it a different look to the office.
My initial thought is, Oh, if I'm a fantasy player,
get ready for Melvin Gordon to be a guy who
gets a lot of touches. Melvin Gordon or uh didn't
bring in Lett Tavis Murray. Be ready for one of
(02:11:05):
those guys a ton of touches because this means outside
zone run, maybe more bootleg uh misdirection, play action passing
game to get Russell Wilson going. The thing about it is,
does Russell want to play that way? Does does Russell
want to put you know, put himself up under the
(02:11:27):
center and turn his back to the defense and have
to locate these guys on these crosses or has he
been humbled enough to be like, you know, I just
need to win some games and keep everybody off my back.
And so there are a lot of different things and
play and I'm sure Nathaniel Hackett has heard some of
the noise about ownership a man. Ownership didn't pick him,
(02:11:47):
I mean he and they inherited Nathaniel Hackett as a coach.
That means he could be on the one and done,
uh situation. I wonder if that influenced his his decision,
because if that is influencing his decision, oh, he has
no chance. But if he if he gave that up already,
(02:12:08):
then if it succeeds, then it shows he's the problem
without any question. Well, I mean a little bit, but
then you know, Nick Sirianni gave a play calling in
the middle of his first season with the Eagles and
it and it changed some things. So we'll see, but
it definitely is something that that bears monitoring because ownership
(02:12:31):
certainly isn't married to him, not tied to him based
on him being the incumbent when they got there. But
he has to show with the deacon coach and coach
at a high level and they have to feel good
about him and Russell because they can't move on from
Brussel because they paid him. So now we've got to
see if we can find a coach that can maximize
Russell while keeping the defense playing the way they're playing. Well,
that's the larger question with Russell Wilson, right, you gave
(02:12:53):
up a lot to get him, and we talk about
some costs a lot, but you're also talking about a
contract that would be inhibiting to doing much of anything.
Uh here, and certainly after this year, you're not able
to spin him off. Right Right now, we're all wheeling
and dealing. We get excited that there's ten or twelve
trades in the NFL and now everybody can be spun
off like it's a sitcom. It's like, hey, I like
(02:13:15):
that character, give him his own show. That's kind of
what we're doing in the trade world now. It's like
every all bets are off to start photo shopping guys
into uniforms all over the place. But at this point,
how much saydie? Do you have to lean into Russell
Wilson and give him his say so if he's not
on the same page as Hackett, that that could be
enough to to push that door open. I mean now
(02:13:37):
that you're you're committed to him in that regard, Yeah,
you have to. You have to get his opinion. He
has to kind of be a guy that has some
some power at the table. But give it his play.
You listen. But it doesn't mean you're obligated, but you
listen to it. For sure. You make him feel like
his voice has been heard. So learn from Seattle where
(02:13:58):
you know he was complaining they didn't hear him even
though he did everything to lean into him for four years. Yes,
and he can't have it both ways. He's gonna try
though always no question a man, I I can't. I
can't argue with a good strategy. Unfortunately, eventually the rubber
(02:14:18):
hits the road. Uh, and your career does as well.
He's Bucky Brooks on Mike Rmen here, Fox Football Sunday,
Fox Sports Radio. We're trying to find opportunities in our
NFL marketplace to push the needle and push towards the
stretch run. We saw the Eagles lean in after a
loss in a big way, and I mean that literally
(02:14:39):
and figuratively, six hundred pounds plus of man power coming
to that defense, and of course Odell Beckham Jr. We'll
talk about those moves and potential destinations for Odell Beckham Jr.
Coming up next year on Fox. Read Bucky's latest NFL
dot com you see um NFL network. He's at the
(02:15:00):
podcast with Daniel jere Mile all that linked out on
Twitter at Bucky Brooks where you find it. Congratulations again coach.
Looking forward to seeing how the prep goes and everything
for the city title this week. You know it should
be a lot of fun. Man really excited about it.
It's a great opportunity for the program. First time this
night seven that high school has been in the city final.
(02:15:23):
So a lot of excited kids, a lot of excited coaches,
and so it's been fun and running the football, putting
up points and big stuff. Look forward to uh recapping
it next week as we're here on Fox Football Sunday.
Before we get to the additions and possible additions and
whereabouts of one Odell Beckham Jr. I wanted to go
back to we're talking about Philadelphia a little bit, uh
(02:15:45):
in in our conversation related to the Bronchos, bringing up
Nick Sirianni and changing up play calling there and how
the squad leaned into it. Right, We've seen a bunch
of reports that way, and obviously we know the run.
You know, with his case, he had a young quarterback
that maybe needed the time that another play caller could
(02:16:06):
do in meetings as opposed to an overseer versus the
Hackett veteran quarterback. So I guess, pulling it back out,
what I was trying to get to earlier was it's
more an indictment to me of where Russell Wilson is
as a leader and perhaps as a collaborator in this respect.
(02:16:28):
Am I onto something? Am I off base? Just wondering
you know what Jalen hurts. There are a lot of
questions last year of whether they really loved him or not.
Right as a quarterback, was he going to be the guy?
Was he a placeholder? Was when he could end up
back in the draft looking for somebody else whereas Denver
went all in and backed up the brain struck to
bring in Russell Wilson. So you would think there would
(02:16:50):
be a level of maybe the collaborative thing that wouldn't
require you necessarily to focus as much energy as you've
had to into fixing that. I mean, yeah, like I mean,
you think you're getting someone who's a m v P
because everything that everyone has told us is Russ has
(02:17:10):
been slighted, never getting the m v P vote, not
not those things. He should be, uh considered one of
the top five quarterbacks, and he's this, and he's the
gold standard and all these things in terms of his
leadership style and all that. And you're saying, and I
don't see a team that has been elevated by his presence.
(02:17:31):
I don't see a group of young receivers that have
been elevated by being around Russell Wilson. He didn't like
the talent that he had around to remember, all the
noise was, uh, see how I should have done more?
They don't have a supporting cast around them. And my
contention was, wait a minute, DK met Kevin Tyler, like
of the probole receivers, like we can talk about the
(02:17:53):
offensive line and the failures and those things, but upon
further review, maybe it was Russell that was himself into
some of those sacks because he doesn't play a timing
rhythm game compared to some of the other quarterbacks that
you were put in there. And so now you're looking
at Denver and the same issues pop up in Denver
that we're popping up in Seattle. Sacks, mis throws, quarterbacks,
(02:18:16):
I mean, the wide receivers are looking around like, hey,
the ball is not coming on time. You have a
young kJ hamdler uh throwing a tantrum in the end
zone at the end of the game because he's open
and Russell didn't see him. Those are things that veteran
quarterbacks with, you know, the the pedigree that Russell Wilson
(02:18:36):
comes in, he should be able to do. And so
now when you look up at Seattle, you're looking at
Geno Smith and you're looking at the success that they have,
and you're hearing the snide remarks that Pete Carroll and
others are making. Now you're wondering, well, who is Russell like?
And so yeah, there's there's some trepidation. I think if
(02:18:56):
you're the Denver Broncos and what this is going to
look like it the prod of is you paid them.
You paid them before you even played a snap for
you That's the crazy part. Yeah, it's just the the
same but different. As we see Hackett give up play
calling to Kubiak, interesting for the NFC East, and then
we'll get to the movement that the Eagles made on
(02:19:17):
the wake of their loss. But you're talking about Philadelphia
six and a half point road favorites. In Indianapolis. No,
Dallas Goddard as we talked about, forty five and a
half is your total, but road favorite there, Dallas and
narrow road favorite in Minnesota one and a half points.
Washington behind Taylor Heineke and Brian Robinson carrying people along,
go up against one of the well the absolute worst
(02:19:39):
rush defense perhaps in history. When it's all said and
done for Lovey Smith's Texans, their three point favorites. So
three road favorites, and then you have the one home
favorite as Detroit visits the Giants. So all of a sudden,
the NFC East that was mocked and openly criticized all
these years, they're they're playing some meaningful football. Everybody at
five hundred or better. Yeah, you know, it's funny about
(02:20:01):
the NFC East. I think when you go back and
you look at and you look at the way that
we view these teams. Before everyone thought there may be
some excitement about Philadelphia, but you were reluctant because you
didn't know what Jalen Hurst was going to look like, Um,
the Dallas Cowboys are always in that conversation because this
America's team, Like, we're always gonna talk about those guys, Um,
the New York Giants and even the Washington commanders of
(02:20:24):
the teams that are surprises to me. The New York
johnsan just surprised that they've been able to run out
to this start given their roster composition and what Brian
dave Ball was coming into as a first time head coach,
Like how was he going to be? But now when
you look at it, the best move that I believe
they made was bringing Wink Martin Dale over. The defense
(02:20:45):
is playing at a high level. They smoke your mirrors.
They bless you today if they give you a bunch
of different looks and really make it hard on the
quarterback and the coordinated to figure out what they're doing. Uh.
Dave Ball has done a really good job of building
an offense around see Kwon Barley while also kind of
ex situating what Daniel Jones brings to the table as
(02:21:05):
an athletic quarterback. And then you have a team that
doesn't turn the ball over. They win in all the
little areas that you don't pay attention to kicking game
uh not, turnovers, penalties are down, all of those things.
So the Giants, to me are the team that you're
gonna look up and say, can the Giants win the
division even though they're not the most talented team in
(02:21:26):
the division, And that is a yes, because they're gonna
have an opportunity to really control their own fate. Well,
it's crazy because you've got Daniel Jones completing sixty of
his passes passing yards, eight touchdowns, two interceptions. You don't
like it. I don't care win football games, however, you
win football games, So criticize him, critique him. I would
(02:21:46):
pay for a ted talk with Brian Dable though, because
clearly he's got some magic sauce working there, and we're
recognizing and we've been cheated out of a couple of years,
as is he of just our great se Kwan Barkley
can be Oh yeah right. That's that's the reminder because
coming into the year, the two guys that you're like, well,
the upside and the ceiling is immense. Whether it's for
(02:22:09):
general football analysis or for your fantasy universe, or Christian
McCaffrey and sa Kwan Barkley and you just had to
go the dot dot dot if they're healthy, which is
the worst thing to have to tag on a guy.
But you've now got enough of an extensive track history
that you have no choice. Yeah, I mean, I think
that's the thing is. It's unfortunate. You know, you talk
(02:22:30):
about sa Kwon Barkley and uh, the great things that
he has been able to do when he's been fully healthy,
Like you go back to his rookie season, Offensive Rookie
of the Year, the way he was able to impact
the game. Uh, in a weird way. He's kind of
a supersize Barry Sanders, right, a thicker version, a guy
that kind of has the same kind of I want
(02:22:51):
to say, sputtering production. But one yard to yard minus
three minus four seventy yard run, two yard three yard,
one yard negative five fifty yard play that's how he
gets down. But he has to have a lot of
touches to really fully maximize his explosive potential. You're seeing
that now he's all the way recovered from the knee injury.
(02:23:12):
He's making hard cuts. He's a factor not only is
a runner but also as a receiver, and the Giants
are feeding him now I wonder if they're feeding them
because they know theyn't have no intention to resigning him,
or they're not going to resign him. But the fact
that I saw him with thirty two carries and a
hundred fifty yards, I was like, Oh, that's a lot
of touches. Yeah, that's a lot of carries. But he
is the thing that makes their offense go. And when
(02:23:33):
you add in Daniel Jones six to eight carries forty
just sixty yards, it makes their running game very, very
difficult to defend. Yeah, as we always go through the
the old line used to be, uh, smoke him if
you got him, and so long as he's healthy, Hey,
you ready for another five carries? Yep, no offact line
(02:23:55):
we know loves it. Right, the shorter game, you start
getting a lean whatever. Man. He wants to show he's
the best. That's the beauty of it, right, He wants
the next contract, recognizes the wear on the body, but
knows that the two have to coalesce to get him
to that next level and to give him the success
that he needs to carry forward. So really, just a
convergence of circumstances. Couldn't be happier for a guy that
(02:24:17):
we've watched the last couple of years. Again going back
to my love of three yards and a cloud of
dust and Barry Sanders in particular all those years with
the stat line and play by play that you certainly
described so brilliantly. There one to minus three a touchdown
is Barry Sanders is in terms of the way that
(02:24:40):
he compiles his numbers, is not a steady trip. It's
definitely not the coffee coffee machine production right, is not
the drip drip, drip drip. It is either drip or
a full on flood. But it works for the Giants
because with day Ball and Mike kelf good office accorded
who's calling to place kept shown. They have done a
(02:25:02):
very good job of I like to mix in the
Northwestern thing, well if you're gonna open the door, and
they've done a great job of displaying patients and disciplined
with the running game. The one thing that we can
say about the Giants, the Giants know who they are
and they never get out of character. They know exactly
who they are and because of that they found a
(02:25:23):
way to win a ton of games. Top ten in
terms of turnover differential. Obviously, Philadelphia up top at plus thirteen,
a ridiculous total on the year. He's Bucky Brooks on
Mike Armen. It's Fox Football Sunday Live for the Tire
Act dot Com studios will get to the movers and
shakers in a moment, but first ties of Glow and Crown.
He's got an update on injuries, news notes, and maybe
(02:25:45):
a couple of notes from Cutter for us here as
the World Cup gets underway. What's going on indeed, American
football and football football, Starting with American Football at ESPN
reporting overnight that Los Angeles ramstar receiver Cooper Cup expected

This past Tuesday, NFL media reporting free agent receiver Odell

turning over play calling duties to quarterbacks coach Clint Kubiak.
In college football on Saturday night, a stunner as South
Carolina blew out fifth rank Tennessee three wide receivers left

go for the pylons for it. Toutsdoe Carol, Toutsdow Jackie Phil. Yeah,
just commemorating what would have been is seventy if earlier
in the week. That's brilliant. The w N kat as

(02:27:35):
all right before we let you go there, Ilo at
Isaac Low and Crown on Twitter later on part of
the coverage for the Sunday Night Football game Chiefs and Chargers.
I know you're a house divided. USC win. How'd that
go down? Um? Thanks to having two young maniac kids.
(02:27:56):
We were so exhausted. We were still we were actually
in bed before the game came close to ending. And
my wife, excuse me, delete this from the podcast. My
wife was not aware that yesterday was the usc U
(02:28:18):
c l A game because we are so exhausted. Hell,
back to you. Nanny's services for the holidays is what
he's asking for. We we we did get a chance
to watch the game because we're tired because of the kids.
What in the world the biggest game that you have
(02:28:39):
in the house divide? No one is aware. Would you
like to put your money where your mouth is, Bucky?
I think Isaac chose the better course. No, No, that
would be I was gonna play hard guy. Oh my gosh, Bucky,
you played in the NFL. You go up against snarling,
two pound guys who are bent on this stroying you
(02:29:01):
and your backpedal like, no, no, no, he's just being
nice on board with this. I'm just saying I'm up
with him. I just you know, trying to pat you
on the bag. I'm inviting you over to the house.
You can watch your kids for two hours and then
we'll see two hours now, Bucky, Okay, that's that's an
(02:29:25):
indictment of the kids now five and seven. Okay, that's
a different thing. I'm thinking that you have like like
I have older kids. Yeah, I was thinking you have
young adults, like five is a year. That's tough. Yet
you gotta you gotta keep the occupy. Yeah. Well, I'll
tell you what. They're on track to, still being topping
(02:29:46):
about five years. But now that I think the long
road begins with that first step. All Right, Hilo, grab
some caffeine, take a deep breath, and enjoy the quiet
already did Thank you good man, my car and Bucky
Brooks with you here Fox Sports Radio's Fox Football Sunday.
We'll leave Odell as a larger conversation, but I want
(02:30:07):
to get back to the Eagles one last time as
we talk about Linval Joseph East Coast centric conversations here.
I guess, but Linval Joseph and in Dominan Sue. So
in dominant Sue is going to maybe leave Warren Buffett
on unread a little bit as he gets back to
work here. Eagles deciding you know what Quinn wasn't enough?
(02:30:28):
You think we need one more that went oceans eleven.
We need one more. Yeah, let's get one more. As
in dominant Sue joins Linval, Joseph joins that defensive front
as they try to prepare for the stretch er and
I think owing to some of that run defense that
you're gonna need down the stretch that you talked about. Yeah,
you know, here's the thing. Uh, it was smart for
(02:30:49):
the Eagles of double down on that because you talked
about two over thirty uh thirty plus year old run stoppers.
You don't really know what they have left. It's not
um the name brand, you know, meaning and Dominican Sue
and then Joseph and their prime. You're talking about older players.
So what you want to do is bring both of
those guys in and see who has more juice or
(02:31:11):
split the workload. Absolutely, but um, when you give up
you know, a hundred and sixty yard a hundred sixty
rushing yard average over the last two games, it's a
problem that needs to be resolved. And when you put
that bad stuff on tape, every team that faces the
Philadelphia Eagles over the next three or four weeks have
(02:31:32):
to at least probe that area of their team to
see if they fix the issue. And if you haven't,
every team is going to continue to do it. And
I don't know if you looked at the end of
their uh, their schedule. Oh, I got it up right now. Absolutely,
they play all the heavy hitters. When he comes to
the running backs, I mean they faced them all. I
want to say, maybe maybe the top six running backs.
(02:31:54):
I got it up. Now You've got the colch today
with Taylor. Then you got the Packers, whatever you get
out of them, and then you got Derrick Henry. Then
you got se Kwon part one. Then you got the Bears.
No Khalil Herbert goes to I R. But still David
Montgomery has been fantastic, and you got Justin Fields running amuck.
Then you've got the Cowboys. Then you've got Camara and
(02:32:16):
the Saints again whatever they are at that point, and
then you end the season with the date against sat
Kwan Barkley again. Okay, So of all the teams, the
only team that we could say may not be the
potent run team might be the Saints. But we've seen
games where Taysom Hill and Avocamar had both going well.
Heard you're talking about Taysom Hill earlier. He's a huge
component to what the huge component. So so now every
(02:32:39):
team that we've talked about, their main vehicle for getting
down is the running game. The Green Bay Packers, when
they lead it to the running game, that is their
best UH opportunity to win games. And so Jonathan Taylor
was the leading rusher last year. You know, Jeff Saturday
saw what the different Eagles put on tape the last
two games. He went right to the room, see guys,
(02:33:01):
it's on you. Guys. We will run right at them.
So it's a big challenge. And I know that Linville
Joseph is supposed to be up today for the Eagles.
They better stop to run early and often, because if
they give the Colts any life, you're talking about a
heavy dose of the run game coming at them. Yeah,
upset special plus six and a half at home. I'll
(02:33:23):
take the Jeff Saturday effect for another another Sunday. He's
Buckey Brooks. I'm Mike Garben, Fox Football Sunday, Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up next, Odell Beckham Jr. Where's the better fit.
We've talked about both the teams, Where should he sign
or is there a dark horse that's not in those
news reports this morning? And of course some wrap up
notes for week eleven of your National Football League. Bucky
(02:33:45):
and Mike from the entire Act dot com studios, a
Fox Sports Radio Great Eggs, Welcome back in It's Fox

(02:34:28):
great things for your life and productivity. So thank you
wherever you are the extended family of Fox Sports Radio.
Maybe you're out shoveling snow, maybe you're sitting at the
window watching someone else shovel snow. Maybe a nice walk
with the dog, whatever, the case, maybe thanks for being
part of the family and hanging out with us, watching
some of the opening ceremony sound off, So trying to
(02:34:48):
you know, go from the pictures here, uh, and and
cutter and we got Morgan Freeman in the middle of
the stage here, Bucky Brooks. You just in conversation with
a gentleman on the stage. A lot of imagery that
I'm trying to I gotta do some cultural significance and
and break down, which I'm sure is part of the
FS one coverage. But you know, sitting here in the studio,
(02:35:12):
I'm trying to piece it all together, and it's it's
it's been a little odd, a little jarring at times.
And just Morgan Freeman walking out, which really something I
did not expect. The guys behind the guy, like Christopher
Fete and I Guy Ethan, Uh, they're they're both looking
the up and just shaking their heads like I have
no idea, No, there's no there's no understanding here. Freeman, Well,
(02:35:34):
I mean, look, he he has done travel shows and uh,
the thing on the Search for God has been part
of a thing. So like he's a global guy and
a global figure and a global voice. So there he
is as part of your opening ceremonies to the World Cup.
Can't wait for action to get under way. We've got
a little pool, uh for bragging rights, of course, and
(02:35:56):
and mocking purposes. Of course, we drew out of a
hat so um luck of the draw as it were,
but we that's I guess where you're at with O'Dell
Beckham Junior and negotiating. Is that for a segue? I've
tried to figure out his next spot. Dallason and the
Giants are the two teams most mentioned and returned to
New York would be interesting. Obviously. We talked about the
(02:36:17):
passing game and maybe a need for some some juice,
but I I didn't give it a huge amount of time, Bucky,
because I don't know what O'Dell Beckham Junr. Is at
this point and how much of a difference maker he
truly is. Oh, I think he's still a significant difference maker.
I think what do you show last year with the
(02:36:37):
l A. Rams Um, particularly once he came over in
the middle of the season. Was he's a nice compliment? Now?
Is he what he once was when I mean as
a dominant number one receiver? No, but he's still a
high end number two and in the right situation, he
could be a vital playmaker. I think for the New
York Giants he defined perfectly because he would become their
(02:37:00):
number one receiver. They don't have any threat on the
passing game to worry to worry about, you know, when
he's going through the Ritchie James and Bellinger like they
they just need a steady, uh pass catcher. I also
think they're but he can't go wrong because he's a
star at either place he goes back there, he can
kind of put some closure on that chapter because I
(02:37:21):
felt like all parties kind of ended right. They would
like to patch it up. In Dallas, he's a star,
He's he's box office. Jerry Jones knows that. I can
only tell you Mike and being around him and watching
how kids respond to him, he's a rock star. And
Jerry Jones knows if he comes to Dallas, he's selling
jerseys and he's must see TV. So he can't go wrong. No,
(02:37:45):
and certainly for him that those two decisions, and then
obviously you've always got one or two other teams that
might be in the mix trying to go over the top.
Why to keep him away? From those situations to a degree.
But for Daniel Jones, I think it would be a
huge edition Dallas. Whatever Jerry starts feeding, uh hey, I
need another act under the big top. I get a
(02:38:07):
little nervous, but we'll see how that flows. Biggest thought
for today, we didn't get a chance to do your
best in the last hour. And as we look ahead
on the slate here, what's the game that that stands
out for you as as Musty TV and the one
we're talking about Monday morning? It's the Last is Last
game and tonight is Kansas down. Yeah, yeah, because I
mean I think I think that game is so critical
(02:38:29):
because we've talked about the Charges being a team that's
a viable contender. Well, if they are what we say
they are, then they gotta find a way to knock
off the bully and the bully to Kansas City Chiefs. Also,
when it comes to Pat Mahomes, he is worthy of
being an m VP discussion. But the thing with Cadarius
Tony coming over gives him a chance to get back
to putting up those numbers. That's why I want to
(02:38:49):
see that game. Nicely done, Tony, Tony, Tony at Suny Brooks.
Will you find him on Twitter? I'm over at swollen dumb.
Countdown to Kickoff is coming up next year on Fox
Sports Rainio
