Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio and the Las Vegas
Raiders have just gotten into the end zone, but they
still trail in the Mile High City, one of the
three leg games we're watching here in week eleven. Welcome
in as we are broadcasting line from the tirac dot
Com studios. Tirac dot Com. We'll help you get there,
and I'm match selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard
(00:21):
protection and over ten thousand recommended installars hirac dot com.
The way higher buying should be Raiders getting into the
end zone. Bernie on a touchdown pass from Derek cart Well,
who else, Davante Adams thirty one yards. We now have
a ball game in the Mile High City with five
thirty six left to go in the first half. The
Raiders actually showing some life right now. Well, it's surely, Dan,
(00:45):
so I hope may spring eternal. But oftentimes with the Raiders, uh,
you know you you see that lead at the end
of the tunnel and it just turns out to be
another oncoming train. But be that as it may, Dan,
it's a beautiful day. Let's play two. We got to
do this last week. Let's do it again. To the
Peaches and herb were reunited and Uh, and it's already
(01:06):
built fairly. It's already been a fairly eventful NFL Sunday.
Monci had the highlight of the Patriots win over the
Jets that came in a three three ball game. So
so that we we have a lot to cover, and
I think that this late window is very indicative of
what we had earlier. Today we've got this marquee game
(01:27):
with the Cowboys and Vikings and Bernie. I think it's
I think it's bubbling right now. I think that that
that that it's starting to bubble this game. I just
get a little sense could start to maybe, I don't know,
perk up offensively. Maybe. I think maybe we're gonna see
these teams getting a bit of a track meet. Maybe
that's it's My guests will mark it down right now
(01:49):
five oh three Eastern time, two oh three Pacific. It's
ten three right now, Dolphins with the football second and
eight starting the second quarter, I think it's starting to
perk perk alid a little bit with uh the the
offenses going. Vikings turned it over early, allowed the Cowboys
to get some points early on the board. Minnesota answered
(02:10):
and the Cowboys just scored a little while ago undernea
Ezekiel Elliott one yard run. But this, this, no doubt,
is the game of the day. Is the Vikings continue
to be the topic. And there was such a topic
of conversation that when we were together last week Bernie
about Minnesota, and my whole thing was, I just want
Minnesota to validate last week. And on the first possession
they didn't do it. But I had to watch myself
(02:31):
and say, all right, don't jump on Kirk cousins case
just yet. A lot of football game lab so I'm
giving him the benefit of the doubt of how the
rest of this game could play out. Well for starters,
certainly scoring is expected today Dallas is only twenty nine
against the run. And when you have to put a
you know, put the clamps on Dalvin Smith, Dolphin Smith.
That's not that's not easy, right. So the bottom line
(02:54):
is is Dan you raised an issue last week? Did
really hands a lot of merit. The Vikings are eight one,
yet they find themselves home underdogs today. This is only
the third time this has happened in the National Football
League since nineteen seventy where an eight and one team
is a home underdog and the other two were in
the final game of the season in which teams rested
(03:14):
their starters. Part of the reason for this I looked
into this there was some concern that the Vikings really
emptied the tank emotionally and physically last week in Buffalo
and that completely improbable win. The other thing is, dan
there are a couple of statistics that just don't lie.
The Vikings. Point differential this team are this year is
(03:35):
only plus three point nine points per game. That's good
enough for eight in the NFL. To give that some perspective,
the New England Patriots are plus four point one points
per game and they won the day buy a touchdown. Remember,
as you pointed out last week, seven of the vikings
eight wins are only one score games. Also another damning
(03:55):
statistic yards differential yards per game. The Vikings cumulatively two
and twenty nine yards to the bad minus to nine
on the season. That only ranks in the NFL. And
what does that mean. That's the worst performance in history
in the NFL for a team that has an eight
in one record. So today is a referendum game for
(04:18):
the Vikings as they visit the Cowboy or as they
host the Cowboys. And see if they can hold serve
and they do, I mean, they do have players, and
I think you're giving me the credit on the one
score stat. I think that was you because this is
what I want from Minnesota. I just want them to
kick the crap out of someone, and they did it
in Week one Like that, that's what That's what I want,
that's what that's what's going to make me believe that's
(04:39):
what I want. And that's what made Week one's game
against the Packers made you stand up at attention to
see what was going on in Minnesota because it's like, wow,
this is this is a rivalry with you know, Packers
have pretty much had the Vikings number as of light
and this is Naron Rodgers led team. And then we
saw what Minnesota did and maybe Burney kind of passed
(05:00):
it off saying green Bay's, you know, thrown up stinkers
in the past. They did last year and their opener
when they had to play the Saints in Jacksonville. So
we we kind of gave Green Bay a pass on
that and we didn't maybe give Minnesota enough credit for it.
But they had opportunities to double down or to to
state their case, and they haven't done that. They lost
the next week against Philadelphia, and then, as you mentioned,
(05:21):
one score game after one score game, and to their credit,
they won those games. But even last week with the
game against the Bills, it's a it's a comeback victory
and right now trailing ten three to the Cowboys and
they had to punt it away, couldn't do anything on
that possession. After the Cowboys touchdown, you're almost thinking yourself,
all right, if Dallas scores here, now, are we catch
up mode again? And that's what I think is frustrating
(05:43):
with Vikings fans is there is no game to go
in and and just kick the crap out of a team.
There's there's no one o'clock Eastern time kick, noon Central
time kick where the Vikings are just welcoming in an
opponent and just being like, all right, we're gonna beat
you up thirty to three. And I know it's the NFL,
and I know it doesn't happen often, but with good
teams it does that, it does, and that's what I
(06:03):
want to see with Minnesota. This may not be the
opportunity to do it, but it starts to give you ammunition.
And the Kirk Cousins early turnover fair or unfair? You're
saying yourself, Oh, here we go again. Jim Nance and
Tony Romar are calling this game. It may not be
a Senate out of affair, but it's gonna get dark
soon in the Twin Cities. Is this Tony Roma or
is this Kirk Cousins showing up again? Because you know,
(06:24):
the number one broadcast team is in the UH is
in the building. Like, those are the things with Minnesota,
and that's why they keep on. I think they keep
having questions about it because they really aren't answering them.
For as great as last week's win was, I just
don't know how many questions they actually answered. But what
type of team that they are? Like, we know that
Justin Jefferson's amazing, we know that, um, we know that
(06:47):
Dalvin Cooks, you know, a heck of a running back.
But how many questions did they answer? I'm not sure
if they answered many. Well, that's fair to your point.
As long as they continue to have close games and
find themselves in these idiots and cratics since vations where
the coin flip always manages to land on her side
and give the Vikings credit, they've been opportunistic. My goodness
that you know that passed that Justin Jefferson hauled in
(07:10):
uh On on fourth and eighteen. That's one for the ages, Dan,
this is going to be a fourth quarter game today.
There's not a doot my mind. This might go down
to the last possession. I expect both teams to get
their points. These teams have played four years in a
row and when you know what, the road team has
won every one of them. But there's also an X
factor on the other side of the ball today, not
(07:31):
taking anything away from your point. And that's the venerable
Mike McCarthy, who I've doubled, I've dubbed as as Barney Rubble. Listen,
he's capable of anything. That's harsh. Burnie, that's harsh. That's harsh.
I retracted, Okay, I retracted. It's a family show. Sometimes
I get a little saucy, you know, when I haven't
had a lot of sleep. But the bottom line is this.
The Cowboys last week, they were in they were in
(07:54):
a game where they were a hundred and nine and
oh when leading after the third quarter, and the situation
is in the situation they were in, and why does
Mike McCarthy on fourth and three from Green bas thirty
five elect to go for it instead of just simply
kick a few goal to go up by three points.
That ends up failing the Cowboys fail to convert. Bottom
(08:16):
line is here, you have a situation where it ends
up you know you don't you know how the result
of the game was. So the Vikings have been the
beneficiary of things like that today, though I think you're
gonna you've got a motivated Dallas team. It's a nonconference
technical situation that very much favorites of Vikings. Believe it
or not, the Cowboys are only three and eleven straight
up in situations that they're facing today. And I went
(08:37):
boy with the minutia. But to your point, the Vikings
have yet to really thump somebody play a four quarter
quarter game on both sides of the ball. That maybe
part and parcel dan to the fact that right now
in this man's NFL, there are no great teams. Philadelphia
had to struggle today, but they got it done in
UH in Indianapolis, the Colts did not look good. Our
(09:00):
check that the UH the UH Lamar Jackson, the Baltimore
Ravens did not look good as thirteen point favorites, not agetting.
There's a trend there. They come off of bye. But
teams who come off of bye that lay double digits
only six and sixteen against the spread. Since so there
are close games around the lot. We'll see what happens
with San Francisco and Arizona money that. I think that
(09:21):
could be a blowout. But we do no longer have
in this salary cap era. I believe the Patriots or
the last Bastion, the Steelers of the seventies, the Packers
of the sixties, the Niners of the eighties. Uh, you know,
Cowboys of the nineties, you name it. Those teams that
just put you away early and then they step on
your neck. We're not seeing those kind of teams. To
your point, the Vikings are part and parcel, perhaps what
(09:42):
representative of this man's NFL in two, I love your Minutia.
You say thump, I say kick the crap out of
Vikings have not done either. But there is a questionable
play in Minnesota Ezekiel Elliott taking a second down and
short call. Looks like he was down by contact, but
they are taking a little while to h to take
a look. I think Zeke's if I'm being frank, his
(10:04):
but hit the ground before the ball came loose, and
it is gonna stay Cowboys ball. But they still have
it third and one, so they have to get a
yard and uh they barely just got the yard thanks
to a second effort from Ezekiel Elliott. Ten three in
that one earlier the second quarter, Steelers are in the
red zone. They're down ten three to the Bengals right now.
In fact, Pittsburgh may have just gotten into the end zone.
(10:26):
Nagy Harris appears to have crossed the goal line for
Pittsburgh on a nineteen yard touchdown run. So extra point
coming up. That happening just as uh uh right now,
and the Steelers pulled within one of Cincinnati early in
the second quarter to forty eight left in the first half.
Broncos on top of the Raiders by a score of
ten to seven. We have got you covered with everything
(10:47):
in the NFL, but there's breaking news in college football.
Let's go to the news desk with mont Blanos breaking
news from Fox Sports. Hey, guys, I hate to report this,
but unfortunately Tennessee's quarterback Hendon Hooker suffered a torn a
c L last night ending his college career. Oh jeez,
(11:09):
that's he kind of knew it, but yeah, you know,
and Monc. Yeah, it was like, you know, this rough
rough night for the for the falls against the Gamecock
South Carolina really took it to him. But for what
was one of the better stories that you had in
college football, not only with with the balls specific specifically
just with Hendon Hooker, likely his Heisman campaigns come to
(11:30):
an end. Um now seasons come to an end as well,
So that's awful news. Well, and the flipside of the coin, Dan,
it's that the likelihood is he's going to miss you know,
the pro workout days and he's going to probably affect
certainly the combline a situation and I I I do
know that scouts liked him a lot and he was
(11:51):
you know, on a lot of teams radar. He'll recover
from this, but it's going to delay the beginning of
his career and that's always a you know, that's always
an unfortunate situation. Yeah, very good, very good point there,
Thank you very much. Monster. You can get Monster by
the way on Twitter at mont Blangers. You can find
Bernie Fratto on Twitter at Bernie Fretto. You can find
me Dan Buyer on Twitter at Dan Buyer on Fox.
(12:12):
Now they've gotten to the two minute warning. Denver is
driving in Raiders Territory with that ten seven lead answer
the Cowboys. They are in Vikings Territory against still up
ten three and the extra point was good. In Pittsburgh,
Steelers and Bengals tied up at ten a peace coming
up next. It's been a crazy forty eight hours or
so for the Buffalo Bills and why it's never crazy
(12:33):
with the aforementioned Baltimore Ravens following a certain situation. We'll
talk about that next year on Fox Sports. For its

that you may have missed. One back at one back,
it's to let the end goes to the fifteen. Nachi
Harris reap the man catch to the pilot, and that
is a Pittsburgh Steeler's touchdown. Nachy Harrison a nineteen yard run,
her second rushing touchdown of the year, and the Steelers
are appoint after her. Where from time now back live

or two point five FM and the Steelers Radio Network.
And we told you the extra point was good Steelers
and Bengals tied up at ten apiece midway through the
second quarter. Bengals are driving, Broncos are driving, nearing halftime
(14:47):
under a minute to go up ten seven on the Raiders,
facing a third and short from the Raiders three yard line.
Broncos do have a time out remaining. They just called
it um that will bring up the third downplay. So
ten seven in that contest, and the Cowboys up on
the Vikings thirteen to three. Dallas adding a Brett Mayer
(15:07):
field goal to extend their lead to ten. And just
as I say that, it looks like Sam J. P
Ryan's gotten into the end zone for the second time
today for Cincinnati. Was Joe mixing with five a week ago?
Now Somazy p Ryan appears to get in for the Bengals.
So extra point coming up in that contest. Uh, yeah,
he got into the end zone. Uh, Cincinnati think is
(15:28):
about to take a touchdown lead over the Steelers. There
was just one touchdown in a game between Baltimore in Carolina.
By the way, I look at fantasy numbers coming up
in just a bit. You touched on this game, Bertie.
Let's just get it out of the way and we
don't have to talk about it much anymore. Ravens stop
the Panthers today, thirteen to three. The Ravens coming off
of a bye. What is this? Uh Mr? Automatic? Is
(15:50):
that what we need to call John Harball right now? Well? Yes,
but also they were a thirteen point favorite today and
obviously Baltimore did look flat. And there's a bit of
a again, there's a bit of a trend there. I
mentioned it earlier, the team's coming off of buy and
they lay double digits, which you never want to do
in the National Football League. Only six and sixteen against
(16:12):
the spread, seventeen against the spread. And it took a
late turnover, a bad turnover that Baltimore took advantage of
in a short field other ones, that game might have
even been closer. And I'll tell you that Carolina offense,
My goodness, gracious, they look like a drunk trying to
cross the nicey street really bad. And I feel bad
for Baker Mayfield because he will never outlive the stigma.
(16:34):
I'm not a Baker Bayfield basher. It's just he's just
going to be one of those guys that goes down
in history that you know, of all the people that
played quarterback. He was one of them for I don't
know how long he's going to be one of them.
And now with Sam Donald seemingly coming back and being healthy,
so there's I mean, that's that's the point that we've
(16:55):
gotten now in Carolina, p J Walkers dinged up, so
Baker ends up being put in. But I mean, I
just I don't I I don't know how far away
we are really from Sam Donald getting an opportunity, because
I think we've seen everything that we have can from
Baker Mayfield as the starting quarterback of the Panthers. I
think you're spot on. He's had two chances in two
(17:16):
cities now, and I think as long as Baker wants
to be a backup in this league, he'll be a
serviceable backup. I mean, heck, Vince Evans back in the
day the Raiders, every time they needed a quarterback, they
called the BMW Dealership. Vince Evans, go play for a
few weeks and you go back sell cars. I think
Baker Mayfield can stay in the league for a decade
as a backup allah of Colt McCoy. You know those
(17:37):
types of guys. There are worse jobs. I don't know
how Baker's eagle is gonna deal with that. But he's
proven you really can't give him the keys to the
car because he's just not consistent. John Harball, by the way,
it was not in six Entering this week against the spread,
coming off of a bye, I thought it was gonna
be the opposite, Barney. I thought your numbers were gonna
say that we saw some we saw some success. But
the Ravens still get the win. That's all that they matter.
(17:58):
But the Panthers to end up cover ring that game.
The Broncos just had a twenty five yard field goal blocked,
so Brandon mcphannis no good from twenty five yards out,
so the Raiders hold on to that three point deficit.
Could have been a six point game, but it's Denver ten,
Radars seven as the teams go to halftime, and the
extra point was good in Cincinnati, Bengals now up on
(18:20):
the Steelers by seven and Dallas holding that ten point
edge on the Vikings. Let's get a look at some
fantasy numbers from our executive executive producer of the show,
Bo Benson Go Fantasy Heads and missus Alright, Bo who
hits a kind of a kind of a dry day
to game. Wow, dry day to day to be honest. Uh,
(18:41):
let's start with Jamal Williams, the Lions running back. Seventeen carries,
sixty four yards and three touchdowns from him and the
Lions win over the Giants. Uh. Quarterback, we have Jacoby Brissette,
the Browns quarterback through four yards and three touchdowns. Today,
Jalen Hurts the Eagles quarterback, doing it all hundred nine
yards passing with a touchdown in eighty six yards rushing
(19:02):
with a touchdown rounding it out today. Uh. A Marie
Cooper the Browns wide receiver, a hundred and thirteen yards,
two touchdowns for him, and an honorable mentioned to Thursday.
Derrick Henry doing Derrick Henry stuff. Uh, getting scoring all
over the place, a lot of fantasy points from him.
So those will be your fantasy hits today. Maybe the
afternoon games will feature some more action. You mentioned Jacoby
(19:25):
Brissette's day. Let's talk some bills Browns um and what
was a crazy forty eight hours Bernie um? Really for Buffalo?
I have to think it probably wasn't as easy for
Cleveland to realize where they're going to play. The new
were going to a road game. They just headed west
instead of northwest instead of northeast. But still now you
end up playing the game in Detroit. UM, I wasn't
(19:47):
surprised with the Bills kind of being sluggish at first.
I know Cleveland got a back door cover right at
the end on some of the numbers. What was at eight,
eight and a half at compending depending on where you
got it, it was his it was seven and a
half and moved all around the week. And that's a
story for a different day because when they move locations,
not every book kept a bet, but go ahead and continue. No,
(20:09):
And you also have that that game at one point
when you thought the game was still gonna be played
in Buffalo, that's right, you're over under what low forties,
and then all of a sudden you find out in Detroit,
which was I think an extreme advantage for Buffalo to
be able to to play in that in that contest.
But it doesn't mean that it was an easy transition
for them, uh to have to fly out through the
snowstorm and everything they dealt with over the last couple
(20:32):
of days and played that game in Detroit not an
easy situation. You nailed it, and Danny we both lived
in in real winter, uh and you and Wisconsin in
me in Michigan. I think there was a lot of
impost stress on the Buffalo Bills this week, just in
dealing with that whole situation six ft of snow, family issues,
travel issues, and by the way, Buffalo gets to stay
(20:52):
in Detroit. They'll play the Lions Thursday. But when I
look at the Bills, I know that folks are gonna
start to look askance at them as well. I tipped
my cap to the Bills today. They got the w
at the end of the year. They don't ask Kyle
just how many. And Nolan Ryan once said the mark
of a great pictures when you win, you don't have
your best stuff. Buffalo did not. They have their best
(21:13):
stuff today, Dan, you aptly brought up earlier Cleveland's defense
has issues, right did Buffalo could only manage a hundred
eighty six yards through the air. There were only three
of eleven on third downs a little sloppy again, ninety
yards and penalties. Cleveland led time of possession and multiple
other stats. But Buffalo found a way to win their game.
And I think this is deja vu all over again.
(21:35):
You'll get I'll tell you why, Dan, You've got a
great memory. You remember back in to Hail Murray in
Arizona that was against Buffalo and that Captor three and
three stretch as Buffalo headed into mid November and people said,
here we go again. Buffalo had a bye week and
after that they reeled off eight consecutive wins that took
them all the way to the a f C title game.
(21:56):
Last year, they had that goofy, weird, windy game in
foxbur where they lost to the Patriots, and then the
following week they fall behind the Tampa Bay to three,
and people say, here we go. Buffalo storms all the
way back, almost beats the Buccaneers, but they lose that game.
That was their fourth loss in six weeks. But what
does Buffalo do? Then they come back? They re aloft
(22:19):
five straight. They end up in the FC Divisional game
in Kansas City. In that game, they're losing overtime. I
think Buffalo is going to be fine. They didn't have
their best stuff today. They're dealing with some things. Clearly,
they emptied the tank last week against the Vikings and
then for not for nothing. I think your premise on
the Vikings is solid they're getting work like a burger
and fries today, only seventy seven yards so far. I'm
(22:41):
starting to wonder if the Vikings defense empty the tank
last week, So you know what Buffalo had to deal
with and still had to go on the road. At
least the Vikings had to go home. My money is
still that Buffalo is gonna be right there at the
end of the year. Dan, Yeah, and and even though
Buffalo seemed to have some hiccups in the first half,
I just I attributed it all to what they had
to deal with and getting their homes dug out of
(23:03):
the snow and wondering and there's just there's no focus
on football in that in that situation and figuring out
you're kind of in limbo. You locked in. And I
think they're from from what they said in the broadcast,
the Bills are gonna go back to Buffalo and fly
back to Detroit on Wednesday. I know it's a short flight,
but they're gonna That was what the CBS broadcast said.
(23:23):
So it had to be a crazy week and trying
to sort out when they get back. I don't know.
The the suddenly red hot Lions may may end up
paying for and we'll get to those. Don't worry, Bernie,
we won't talk Lions here. But it just it was
a crazy week. But in the end, there's something that
happened with Buffalo that that I really like going forward,
(23:46):
which lends to your point of of what the Bills
are trying to do and what they're trying to accomplish.
Devin Single, Terry and James Cook had eighty six yards
each on the ground today And maybe you take advantage
of of Cleveland, but two for Buffalo to not be
one dimensional, and what I mean by one dimensional is
(24:06):
Josh Allen doing everything throwing and running the football. To
have the ability to now have two running backs go
in and be an actual threat on the ground, I
think makes Buffalo that much more dangerous. Their defense gave
up an early drive to Cleveland. We talked about the
late a couple of scores that they have, maybe that
(24:27):
shorted up. But but in the end, where Josh Allen
had a very very modest day when it comes to
the fantasy stats that were used to it was Buffalo
getting that running game going that maybe the biggest win
of all that they take from Cleveland. Great point, and
I will tell you having watched a lot of the game,
the Browns cannot play any better than they played today,
and they ended up kind of wasting a very solid
(24:49):
performance by Jacobi Percid who throws for three in twenty
four yards. But the game is played in three phases.
And Buffalo, even back in the day, you know, they
always handed great special teams under under Marv And and
here's the thing. Those special teams showed up today. They
had a couple of long returns on kickoffs and pont
Stay block a field goal. They put a lot of
(25:11):
pressure on Cleveland special teams. They just kind of kicked
and scratched and found a way to get to w
Buffalo is a lot better team than Cleveland. But Cleveland
played a good game today, well enough to win. If
you're the Browns, you felt like you let that one
get away. Buffalo again comes away with the victory even
though they didn't have their best stuff. Lee Cha Kobe
Brassette era will be coming to UH an end, at
(25:33):
least for UH for the near future. Coming up in
two weeks, Bernie and I are going to talk about that.
Because Bernie on Twitter at Bernie Fratt or you can
find me on Twitter at Dan Buyer on Fox. As
we are live from the entirect dot Com studios, Let's
jump over to the news desk. Mon Bel can give
us the layers, But what's happening in this late window?
Plus what else happened in week eleven? What do you got? Well,
(25:54):
three games going on right now in this late window,
which is so crazy because to me it's not late,
but yes, late window in the NFL across the US,
the Broncos haven't lead on the Raiders that have time
ten to seven. A little quarter quarterback comparison. Derek Carr
for the Raiders has completed twelve and fourteen passes for
a hundred and thirty seven yards and a touchdown. Russell
Wilson has completed thirteen of fifteen passes for a hundred
(26:17):
and forty seven yards. No touchdowns yet, but nobody has
thrown an interception either. The Cowboys are beating the Vikings
thirteen three less than two minutes to go in the
first half, and the Bengals are up on the Steelers
seventeen to ten three minutes to go in the second quarter.
Joe Burrow has completed twelve and fourteen passes for a
hundred and sixty five yards and two touchdowns so far
(26:37):
for the Bengals earlier today, not a lot of excitement
going on, and even Bo Benson with his vantasy scores,
there wasn't a lot going on. But the Saints outscored
the Rams twenty seven to twenty. Matthew Stafford had to
go to the locker room with about six months to
go on the third quarter, he was evaluated for a concussion.
He just cleared concussion protocol like three days ago and
had to be evaluated again for another concussion. He do
(27:00):
for a hundred and fifty nine yards and two touchdowns.
The Lions scored a field goal first and they never
looked back as they beat the Giants thirty one to eighteen.
The Ravens and the Panthers, it was ugly, but the
Ravens won thirteen to three. Only one touchdown was scored
and it was enough for Baltimore to come out on top.
The Commanders defeated the Texans twenty three to ten. The
Commanders came out hot with the pick six from Kendall
(27:20):
Fuller really never looked back. The quarterback Taylor Heineke dred
and nine one yards. He has led the Commanders to
four wins in five starts and has earned half a
million dollars in incentives with those four wins. You go,
Taylor Heineke. Why not the Falcons? They beat the Bears
twenty seven to twenty four. The Falcons took the lead
(27:40):
with the fifty three yard field goal in the last
two minutes of the game, and they held on core.
Darryl Patterson had a hundred and three yard kickoff return
for eight touchdown. He now has nine kickoff returns for
a touchdown, the most ever in NFL history. But not
all good news for Chicago. Matt Eberflu said that Justin
Field was evaluated after the game because his left shoulder
(28:01):
was hurting. So they you're gonna have an update on Wednesday,
is what they're saying. But he even said that his
shoulder is hurting. The Bills had a slow start to
the seas to this game, not the season to the game,
but they came out on top of the Browns thirty
one to twenty three. This game was in Detroit. Fifty
six thousand tickets were sold in less than twenty four hours,
and they had to stop the sales even though it
(28:22):
was the last second game, last second move, fifties, six
thousand tickets and se no, not at all. The Eagles
and the Colts. That was a fun one. When literally
down to the wire, it was not a Sunday Funday
for Chef Saturday. Jalen Hurts delibered a touchdown with a
(28:42):
minute and twenty seconds left in the game to tie
the game. The extra point was good and Philadelphia topped
the Colts seventeen to sixteen. The Patriots had a crazy
win over the Jets. It was like twenty five seconds left,
they were tied at three apiece. The Jets points of
the ball. Everybody thought, Oh, we're gonna end to overtime. No, no, no,
that's not what happened. Quarterback Marcus Jones had the first
punt return for a touchdown in the NFL this season,
(29:04):
and the Patriots one ten to three. But Patriots center
David Andrews is fear to have suffered a serious thigh
injury that could end his season. More tests will be done.
Back to you guys, thank you very much. Monty get
her on Twitter at Monty bladnos and wal Monty was
giving scores, Dallas was score ring. Toni Pollard taking a
swing pass from Dak Prescott going thirty yards for these
(29:27):
scores actually more of a just throw out to the
flat for Prescott and Pollar did the rest thirty yards
out extra point is good. Dallas now up three of
the Vikings with a buck forty three. This is exactly
what I'm talking about. This is exactly at Bernie, I
thought maybe things were gonna be, you know, bubbling up
for some scoring. Dallas took advantage and and sure seemed
(29:49):
to be going. You mentioned the Cowboys running all over
the Vikings right now. Even if Minnesota comes back and
wins this game today down seventeen points, which I don't
think that they will, there's nothing that's going to be
able to change my opinion for what is who the
Vikings are, and what the Vikings are. This is you
(30:10):
mentioned their tank may have been empty from from a
weekend ago. But good teams figure out a way. Good
teams figure out a way to get stops. And it's
not like Dallas, you know, it wasn't coming off of
a tough, tough game a week ago, where as you
mentioned that blew a two score lead to Green Bay
in the fourth quarter and lost in overtime and now
they're back on the road again. So for as many
(30:30):
excuses as Vikings fans want to make about why their
team is laying an egg today, um, there's just none
that are really valid to me. Well, your your instincts
last week are turning out to be spot on. Well
st heath of Vikings can rally in the second half.
They've only managed eighty yards of offense. Dallas gets off
the bus, are doing whatever they want whenever they want.
(30:50):
They've already run for a hundred yards. Dak Prescott is
having a good game. Obviously, the Vikings just can't get
the ball rolling. This is a week to week league,
as you will know, Dan, and one of the reasons,
and again I think your instincts you're right about the
Vikings Today is gonna be a referendum game if they
were to get blown out at home. I don't I
don't know that that is an accident that may be
(31:12):
a portent of potentially things to come. And I want
to juxtapose the Vikings against the Bills, because the Bills
were again up against it today. Just a couple of
quick postscripts. The Bills were definitely afraid of losing three
games in a row. Because the Dolphins are off today
and by the by the Bill's winning, they're not seven
and three, so they keep pace with the Dolphins. Why
(31:36):
did Buffalo win, Well, their offense wasn't great today, but
their defense is dominated, and their defense looked like that
dominating defense of the first eight weeks. The Browns could
not get in the end zone. They could only get
in the red zone. Now the Bills couldn't either. They
kick six field goals today. But one of the keys
to watch Jordan's Pawyer is back and the Bills are
six and oh when Jordan power plays and not so
(31:58):
well what he doesn't play. So the is are the
little tell tale signs you look for. And they lost
out on that home game today having to go to Detroit,
although rumor has it Dan the reason that game sold
out in two minutes is because Lions fans start they
were getting Taylor Swift tickets, but it turns out they
didn't even get to see DeAndre Swift. They got to
see the Bills. But everybody went home happy because they
(32:19):
actually serve beer in Detroit, unlike guitar today. World Cup underway.
That's good good tie in US playing tomorrow, by the
way to Matt you'll see on Fox against Wales, but uh,
it's it's just you know, Buffalo again. Kudos to them.
Minnesota just expected more and and and right now the
(32:39):
Cowboys are bringing it on the to the Vikings. I
think Dallas just got called for a defensive penalty, which
is gonna give Minnesota a fresh set of downs. Pittsburgh's
just gotten into the end zone. Is Kenny Pickett his
hit fellow rookie George Pickens on a touchdown pass from
about twenty four yards out of third nine. So the
(33:00):
Steelers keeping pace with the Bengals, who are wearing their
white Bengal uniforms right now in the Steel City extra
point coming up with Pittsburgh an opportunity to tie it.
So Minnesota facing a second and ten, should correct myself.
Thirty six left to go in the first half and
that one and then the other game is just about
to get underway. Actually they are just underway in the
(33:21):
second half. Broncos and the Raiders ten seven. Broncos got
the football coming out a halftime, but Denver goes three
and out. Max Crosby a sack of Russell Wilson. So
the Broncos and they're all orange. I actually like this
look bunny when it comes to when it comes to uniforms,
I don't like when. I don't like it when teams
try to take their past and blend it with the future,
(33:45):
but with the broncos. I like it full orange the
navy helmets, but with the old D with the Bronco
on the helmet. I've always liked this look. I think
Denver looks pretty sharp today, even though they continue to
look like a mediocre football at best. Yeah, I I
like the uniform variants. To remember that one season Dan
(34:05):
a few years ago when on Thursday night every matchup
that the uniforms would feature solid colors on both sides.
The Seahawks had those lime green uniforms, and you know
what people complained about about I I gotta kick out
of it. Yeah, I think it. I think it works.
I like this Bronco combo, and I think there's a
lot of people who love that logo with the the
(34:28):
D and the Bronco on it, and I think it's uh.
I think a lot of people are in favor of
that instead of the old horsehead that they've currently got.
All right, so the extra point was good in Pittsburgh
seventeen all between the Bengals and Steelers, and again Raiders
getting the football back after forcing that uh that Broncos
punt and uh so the Raiders will take over near midfield.
(34:49):
Vikings down to the Cowboys twenty the three with the
minute to go, but with the football at midfield coming up, Max,
I do want to talk about the end of the
Jacoby said era with the Cleveland Browns and yeah, the
Lions happy turned a corner. Wow, Bernie's on the edge
of his seat. We'll talk about it next year on
Fox Sports Radio. Oh, this is Fox Red Zone Radio

(36:17):
that call, the extra point was good Man at a
twenty two three lead, and in fact, the Cowboys now
have an opportunity to extend that lead. Dak Prescott throwing
one to Seedee Lamb getting down to the Vikings forty
two yard line, So we're gonna it was a very
very close play on whether Lamb got his feet in
bounds but was able to uh to uh keep both
(36:39):
feet in and so now the Cowboys the five seconds
left will attempt a long field goal that could put
them up by twenty on the Vikings. Looks like bretent
Mars lining up and I think a fifty six yard
field goal and uh top credit to Dallas um MacArthur's
really got a team ready. This is an important game,
by the way for Cowboys fans because technically heading into
(37:01):
the day there's still only third place in the NFC
East Giants seven and three. This would put the Cowboys
at seven and three, and guess what they get to
host a Giants next week, Uh, Thanksgiving Day, followed by
two more home games versus the Colts and the Texans,
and then a road game at Jacksonville before having to
face the Eagles again. So if Dallas holds served today.
(37:24):
And by the way, Dan, I'm sure you've noticed this
as well, Minnesota having major issues protecting Kirk Cousins at
double a gap blitz. He's constantly under siege. He's been
hit a ton. Uh. Minnesota's offense just can't get on tracked.
If this continues, could be a long day for the Vikings. Yeah,
Mars sixty yard field goal good, Just a perfect, nice
little slight draw the right upright, uh, curled then at
(37:47):
the last second, So the sixty harder is good. Cowboys
up twenty three to three. There is a little chaos
going on. But if it should be the end of
the first half, the sixty yard or that kick is
gonna take seconds to even get there. But it's twenty
three to three. As Mars field goal is good, a
Minuntesota punted it away. Cowboys actually fielded the punt with
(38:09):
about thirty one seconds left. Uh inside their own ten
yard line only brought it out to the fifteen, but
a couple of short pass plays and then the big
play to Ceedee Lamb and got the Cowboys. UM. Oh, actually,
you know what part of the UH. I think part
of the question is. And and I don't know if
the guys in the studio can can let us know
(38:31):
did Minnesota call time out? Um on that in that scenario.
I know that there's a discussion. They're also looking back
at the play for Seedee Lamb on whether he actually
caught the football or not to get his feet. But
if this play didn't go off, that is what has happened. Okay,
(38:51):
So everything everything that I said, Bernie, and if you're
driving in your car, everything I said in the last
sixty seconds, forget about it, because what ended up happening
is mars field goal was good, that the ref signaled good,
everybody celebrated. They buzzed down to review Ceedee Lamb's catch
along the sidelines to see if he actually caught it,
(39:12):
and it appears that he did not catch it. So
this would be a huge break for Minnesota. It's not
a it's it's a man. This is This is close
to the one thing to know about this. And it
did appear I thought in one camera view. Then I
know again, if you're driving in the car, you can't
see from behind the Lamb and appear the football may
(39:32):
have touched the ground. What we do know is marsfield
goal from sixty yards is off the board. That does
does not count. They buzzed down for the review. That's
what is going on right now. So there was no
freezing of of the kicker. Uh. Minnesota is actually out
of time out, so they couldn't have done it, so
they buzzed down. Gotta look at the review. So even
(39:54):
if if Lamb, if it's ruled to catch, Mars gonna
have to go out there and kick another sixt yard
field goal. And of course it's avers the Cowboys because
the ruling on the field was that the ball was caught.
And having wants the replay now about three thirty one times,
it doesn't feel like I've seen a whole hell of
a lot. They could overturn it, but what do I know? Uh,
and you know, I think you're right. Called just stood
(40:14):
so ceedee. Lamb's catch is good. They're gonna say that
he was in bounds, but now they've gotta trup Brett
Mayer out there to try to kick that sixty yard
or again. Daniel Carlson kicked the field goal for the Raiders,
pulling them even with the Broncos tied up at ten apiece.
Broncos facing a third and inches from their own thirty
five yard line midway through the uh through the third
quarter and nearing the end of the half, Pittsburgh's got
(40:37):
the football and now in Cincinnati territory trying to put
up a late score to maybe go up on the Bengals.
That game tied up at sevent piece. Yes, we mentioned
that Jacoby brisett Era could be done in Cleveland soon.
And what about the red hot Lions looking into Thanksgiving.

(41:21):
They've crossed the midfield, tied with Denver at ten apiece,
five thirty five left to go in the third quarter.
It's the only game in this late window that is
currently uh in action, as both the Cowboys and Vikings
and the Bengals and Steelers are at the half. Bernie
and I talked about a variety of topics. If you
missed it, you can always go to Fox Sports Radio
(41:42):

you'll find Buyer and Fratto as Bernie sitting again for

TV with that Oregon UH win last night against Utah,
maybe maybe wiped it out. But Bernie in uh stead
with us today filling in admirably, and Uh, Bernie, I
(42:05):
may have noticed your chest sticking out a little bit
as these Lions are now white. The white hot Detroit Lions,
winners of their last three, going into New York and
beating the frauds that are the New York Giants. Yeah,
and of course, you know, Dan, I'm old enough to
remember when the Lions last one three in rrow. It
was actually seen that was the gym. Caldwell, you're nine
(42:27):
and seven. But they didn't make the playoffs. But you know,
the Lions honestly did some good things today, Dan, and
uh for starters, they turned the Giants over three times
and the Lions didn't have a single turnover today, and
they kept New York's rushing game in check. New York
had been averaging a hundred and sixty five yards on
the ground, good for third in the NFL. They only
(42:50):
managed eighty nine yards on the ground today. But moreover,
the reason I mentioned that I think the Lions could
be assigned the Lions are turning the corner. And by
the way, they get Buffalo Thursday. But the Lions are
coming home for three straight home games. In the second
half of games this year, then, the Lions had been
outscored by a cumulative total of fifty three points, where
(43:11):
the Giants had a point differential of plus thirty five.
The Lions turned the tables on that today they outscored
the Giants in the second quarter. And as you've seen
in the past, the Lions have found a way to
steal you know, defeat from the jaws of victory multiple times,
but not today. Also give it up to their first
round draft dress out of Michigan, Aidan Hutchinson, who continues
(43:33):
to have a great year, has a key interception and
a fumble, a forced fumble. And so when you look
at the Lions, and not only the fact that they
did get a nice road win today against a team
that was seven and two, but they come home with
a little bit more confidence. Three in a row. Can
they build on this, we shall see, But nonetheless, for
(43:53):
at least today the Lions showed some good things. Yeah,
and right now, the Lions with that three game winning streak,
their own draft pick is further down in the order
than the one that they're getting from the Rams because
of the Rams lost to the Saints today. So you've
got a Lions team that, uh, you know, I still
think that the playoffs would be quite a stretch. Never know,
but but I still think it would be quite a
(44:14):
stretch for for this team. Crazier things have happened. But
if you talk about two picks in the top twenty
and one that right now, you know it could be
top five and definitely top ten. With the way that
the Rams season is going, and now with Matthew Stafford
having another concussion, you wonder what's gonna happen at that
quarterback position. You know, Cooper cups on the shelf for
a while and maybe a long while. The you know,
(44:38):
the Lions really reaping the benefits from that Matthew Stafford trade.
Not to say that the Rams didn't and something like that.
Want to get into later on in the show, but
this really could be set up well. And I would
think Bernie and not to not to jump ahead and
sit there and look at the Lions draft, But when
you're in that position that you are, and with the
quarterbacks that we think that are available, maybe you're you know,
(44:58):
if you're Detroit, that's the position you end up looking at,
even with Jared Goff able to manage everything. I just
don't know if you could bypass that opportunity, especially as
you're trying to build and build for the future well
heading into today. Had the season ended today, the Lions
whould have been drafting fifth. And I know from my
moles there I covered the team for ten years pre
and post two eight and they're taking a look at
(45:20):
will Levis. I'm of the belief they continue to draft
and stack their defense. Their offense is coming along nicely.
I mean, there Jared goff and I'm not mixed up
about the peaks and valleys of Jared golf Um. But
he spread the ball among eight receivers today, and they're
talking about getting Jamison Williams back perhaps after Thanksgiving. I'm
(45:41):
not sure if they're gonna pull the trigger in that.
Of course, he used the star wide receiver out of
Alabama who tours a c O in the championship game.
Quite a player, and so he's the guy that can
struct the field along with Alman Ross st Brown. And
so they you know, they lose t. J. Hockenson and
the Lions they win three games in a row. Again,
long way to go. And as you know, Dan, it's
we two week league and we'll see how the Lions
(46:02):
can fare Thursday against Buffalo. But for now, again, you
take what they did today and you have to be
a little bit encouraged, you know what. And and and
I'll say this, when you look at the San Francisco
forty Niners, I think they took the took the opinion
as well of all right, if we have a chance
to move up get our quarterback of the future, Uh,
if we expect our team to be as good as
(46:24):
we are, we're not going to have this opportunity again.
And so that's what they did with tray Lands. Then
you have Jimmy Garoppolo obviously sticking around. And while it
hasn't worked out in the tray Lands portion of it
for the forty niners, maybe there's whether you see that
with with the Lions and Jared Goff and whatever. I
just think that if you're in that scenario um now
with the Rams pick, it's just so interesting on how
(46:46):
this is up played out that the Lions may have
that option to do that and picking up and if
that foundation is being built with the pieces that you
talked about, you'd have to think that at some point
they won't be picking as high and won't be uh
able to maybe get that quarterback of the future. But
a lot of football to be played. But right now
the Ramps have given the Lions the top five pick. Yeah,
(47:08):
and I think it'll be an interesting decision there in
Allen Park as you get after the first year. It
will be predicated on what the Lions record is and
how Jared Goff fairs. And I think you bring up
an excellent point when you juxtapose the forty Niners and
where they stood a year ago and what their plans were.
This is why we love sports so much. It's the
greatest reality show invented. You can script everything but the ending.
(47:29):
Look at the Niners now top ranked defense in the NFL,
and you've got a situation where they're very much on
the shortlist to get to the Super Bowl. I believe
with Jimmy G, who wins seventy of his games, they
love them in the locker room. And a great stat
about Jimmy G this year on third down situations when
they're needing eight or more yards, Jimmy G is six
(47:51):
of seven. When you do that, that's some money down.
They don't pay it a punt, and that's the kind
of thing that wins people over in the locker room.
So I think your juxtaposition of where the Niners ended
up versus where we thought they'd end up based on
Trey Lance and what the Lions mayorment not do depending
on how they finished the season lots of football ahead,
like you say, and an interesting storyline as we get
closer to the draft. I do want to pay off
(48:12):
the teas that that we had and for the listener
that was wondering what ended up transpiring. And in Minnesota
between the Cowboys and Vikings, we told you that the
Cowboys had completed a pass to Ceedee Lamb and then
Brett Mayer came on the field and kicked the sixty
yard field goal, and then we had to we erased
all that because they looked at Ceedee Lambs catch and
reviewed it for a while. Well, the catch was ruled
that the call stood, and then Marges ended up hitting
(48:34):
another sixty yard or so. That's how they got to
the twenty point lead that Manzy told you about twenty
three to three between the Cowboys and Vikings. I do
want to pay off the teas about Jacoby Brissett and
the Browns because even in that loss today in Detroit
to the Buffalo Bills, Brissette showed well played well, um
you know, and and and the question is is now
(48:57):
in two weeks where the Shaun Watson takes over uh
for the bronze and again Brown's they don't know they're
talking about first round picks. They don't have a first
round pick because it's on this way to Houston, uh
as part of that Deshaun Watson trade. I just wonder
for Cleveland how much better they're going to be and
if they're going to be better at all. They're not
a good football team. And and Deshaun Watson now coming
(49:19):
in you would think as an upgrade over Jacoby Brissette,
but brissettas played well, Bernie, the layoff that he has
had of not playing a competitive NFL game is, you know,
going back now, you know, two seasons ago. I just
I just really wonder how things are gonna play out
in Cleveland, because I don't think they're gonna fare as
well as Brown's fans would have hoped um considering, this
(49:41):
team to me has much more holes than just at
the quarterback position. And I don't even sure they have
a hole at the quarterback position right now. Well, will
no on December four, what this will look like. That's
the game that Deshaun Watson will officially be eligible to
step back and actually play in a National Food Ball game,
something he hasn't done since I think January. You don't
(50:04):
know what you're gonna get is he gonna be rusty,
easy going to be in sync with that offense. He
certainly won't be in game shape. I don't expect that
that's gonna look great. We'll see. Ironically, it's at Houston
where it you know, he last played the game against
the Texans. But all we know is this. You know,
he's back, and he's been back in the building since,
(50:24):
you know, October tenth. He got to practice Monday. He
was his first team practice Wednesday, and they're working towards
that point. And I made a couple of calls this
week and I said, what are you gonna do? Because
think about what you said, Dan, you put him back
on the field. This team is probably not going to
the super Bowl this year. At the rate they're going,
they're probably not going to make the playoffs. What do
you do in the situation? And the the answer I
(50:45):
got back as a resounding he's playing. We're paying him
too damn much to stand on the sidelines and hold
a clipboard. So I think he'll be back, uh, you know,
from the opening kickoff December four in Houston, and he's
gonna play the rest of the year. They've got two
thirty million reasons to play him. The real story will
take effect next year, and not for nothing. Watson still
has a couple of civil cases to UH to settle,
(51:08):
and I don't think there will be any criminal charges.
But the way this whole thing has gone over the
last twenty four months, you never know. If it's finally over.
We'll see if that gamble in Cleveland pays it off.
I gotta tell you, it could go down as a
huge blunder. Dan two billion dollars guaranteed, and Cleveland may
never even get back to where they want to get.
He's Bertie Fratto. I'm Dan Buyer. This is Fox Sports
(51:29):
Red Zone Radio. We told you that the Raiders had
the football in UH in Denver territory. Um that did
not end up the case because of an on sportsmanlike
conduct penalty against Davante Adams pushed the Raiders back in
their own territory. Denver then forced to punt. Broncos now
have the football tied up with the Raiders at ten
a peace getting late in the third quarter, under three
(51:49):
minutes to go. It's ten ten between at Denver and
Las Vegas. Broncos with the football at the Raiders thirty
seven yard line just underway in pitts Burg in the
second half, Steelers getting the football to start the second
half of three on the Bengals seventeen and the Cowboys
facing a third and fourteen or early in the second
half against the Vikings, and they've just converted as Dak
(52:12):
Prescott his hit Tony Pollard for a big play that
appears to go for a touchdown. So Dallas now converting. Uh.
This one Uh is over? This one is done, Bernie.
This is a knockout punch, as Dak Prescott has just
hit Tony Pollard on a sixty eight yard touchdown. Reception
(52:34):

Huh Thanksgiving. I'll be here before you know it, coming
up on Thursday. Cowboys right now in pretty good form
(53:36):
in advance of their show down with the Giants on Thursday.
Lately leave the Vikings thirty to three, ten minutes to
go in the third quarter of the Vikings just punted
it back to Dallas. Denver added a field goal to
take a lead on the Raiders thirteen to ten, and
now it appears Denver is post forced a Las Vegas
punt and the Steelers have forced Bengals punt there up
(53:57):
on the Cincinnati right now twenty seven team, three minutes
gone by in the second half, Pittsburgh. They're gonna start
deep in their own territory at their own nine yard line,
joining us as he always does during this time each week,
to talk about all happenings in the NFL. Our Fox
Sports Radio, NFL Insider that you can hear on the
Inside the Birds podcast and also serious x M NFL Radio.
(54:17):
Adam Kaplan joins us. Hello, Adam, how are you? God
damn well? Yeah, interesting Sunday in the National Football League,
no question about it. I want to start out with
Denver and the Raiders because Josh McDaniels got a vote
of confidence from his owner Mark Davis for today this
week the dreaded, but it makes sense in in what
(54:39):
seems to be a in organizational reload instead of just
maybe a reload of a team. Um, were you surprised
with that vote of confidence that that Mark Davis ended
up giving Josh McDaniels, but also folkus. Just to be
clear here, I can't tell how many owners have gone
back on their their photo commisesn't want to air in
(55:00):
the head coach. I'm not saying it's gonna happen here,
but it does happen, So just understand that. But he
was interviewed and he did the smart thing because what
it does is it just takes away the speculation and
and a lot of it's uninformed. And first of all,
that what's he gonna pay off one coach and then
pay off another and a bunch of assistant coaches. I mean,
it's a lot of money we're talking about here, at
least seven million of season, So yeah, that doesn't make
(55:21):
any sense. And plus it's a total rebuild. So you
just gotta let this thing pass here. And they have
to rebuild the roster. They're they're they're terrible in the
back end. They have to rebuild the offensive line, they
need help with wide receiver. They know they have a
lot of work to do, and they've they've kind of earned. Look,
they've earned this record. They're a bad football team and
it shows. Yeah, and and the part about the rebuild,
(55:43):
this is my question because if they're picking high enough,
they can pick their new quarterback. But Davante Adams signs
with them because Derek Carr's there, Like, like, how does
that dynamic now work? I mean, if you're you know,
if you're Davante Adams, now you got this new deal,
you're going to play with your buddy and it at
last one season to any of those play into what
(56:05):
could happen with this rebuild. This not really because Adams
has no leverage that he's locked into a long term
deal with cars deal. They can get out after this
season and not him a dime. That's the structure unfortunately,
that you know he agreed to. I don't know why
he agreed to that kind of structure. In fact, he
admitted he was asked about that and it was clearly
team friendly. Didn't really make sense. Uh, you know, he
(56:27):
got a big one year deal at least in terms
of the first year, it's a lot of money. But
then after that, um, they could get out of it
early next year. So look, they're not married to him.
Derek Carr. Here, we'll see that they inherited the player.
They extended his contract for future seasons, but they did
it to a team friendly structure. And Joshua Daniels is
a guy. Look, he he coaches a specific way and
(56:50):
I let's put it, let's be honest about it. Derek
Carr's numbers have been kind of up and down at best.
Adam I think you're spot on. It's a financial deal.
Mark Davis is cash for he doesn't want another add
another ex coach to his payroll, and McDaniels has a
pretty substantial buyout. But I digress. Tom Brady is off today.
So we don't have a lot of Tom Brady in
(57:11):
the news, except we do. How much hot water might
he be in given this f t X situation, because
he was much more than just a brand ambassador. He
was an individual that had an equity stake in ft X,
as I understand, and he's named in this lawsuit and
it's pretty scary. Yeah, but this is a personal matter.
It's not having to do with the league. They can't
do anything about it. I don't expect anything to happen
(57:33):
out of that. I think. I just think it's a
drain on his off the field situation, the the divorce
with his wife. You have a guy that turns forty
six in August, his contracts up. He needs to make
a decision on what he's gonna do with his life.
He's gonna have a broadcasting or waiting for him. As
you remember, he signed a long term deal that's waiting
for him in broadcasting. So it's got that for him,
(57:56):
but it doesn't help his legacy. It's it's embarrassing the
ft X situation. But now, as far as the leaks
are concerned, this is nothing they can get involved with.
It's just his personal business affair. And I didn't mean
to imply to do it was a league issue. If
I misspoken, it's more of a the civil matter and
how much this could cost him and perhaps could just
more of Himo a criminal situation. I've not heard that
(58:18):
at all, to be honest with me, Capitl joining us
here at Fox Sports Radio, get him on Twitter at
Capitlan nfl um. It wasn't pretty, but the Eagles bounce
back from the loss on Monday Night beat the Colts
seventeen and sixteen. Is this a good ugly win? Is?
How would you characterize what Philly did an indie today?
It would be boy that the loss of startight En
(58:41):
Dallas guard it showed. I mean it was bad. Uh,
they barely want to give him credit. Good teams find
ways to win when you're not playing well. Uh. The
craziness of the play call. And I'm not a big
run game guy, I'm I'm I'm soon, says you gotta
throw the bottle. Win in the first half, but the
Cults run down eagle throats in the first year. It
is absolutely no resistance. Second series, three passes and out.
(59:03):
I didn't understand what Parks Fraser the inner emost he
was doing, and that kind of got the Goes back
into it. How about Linevil Joseph and Dominquan sue that fact, Joseph,
they both played today. I had heard they were going
to play, but actually Linnville Joseph started the game and
after the first series he played better. In fact, they
really cool thing. They combined for a a sack. They
(59:24):
actually met at the quarterback. Very cool if you saw
the video, and I give him credit. Now they play
the Packers here at Sunday night and Philly against uh
against Aaron Rodgers there only beaten once in the history
of their team. But look, you gotta win games like that.
The Giants lost, They got beat up. They lost a
lot of players in that game. Talking with someone of
the lines today, by the way, they feel great about
They feel like they're starting, they're finally starting to make
(59:45):
progress under Dan Campbell. That's a good road win for them.
I know they're not going to the playoffs or anything
like that. But the thing about the Lions guys is
they've lost and choked so many games. They are actually
four and six. That's considering where they were to start
the season. It's actually a pretty good improvement. Uh Adam
(01:00:06):
Brandon Staley is front and Saturday Night. He's the first
defensive you know, background coach the Chargers have hired, and
probably over a decade, it doesn't feel like it's working.
Could he be on a hot seat after this season?
I know from a media standpoint, a lot of people
are on um, you know they What I'm told is
they that Staley went to the front office and he said,
(01:00:26):
listen this, I can't win with these players I needed.
I need guys are bigger. They like Kaisier White go
at a good year. He's not with Philly having a
career season. He want a bigger, faster, more explosive athletes
up front. And the defense really is not played well. Now,
let's call it like it is. Let's be fair. Mike Williams,
their big receiver, their ex receiver, has missed a lot
of time with the high ankle spraining. Kennan Allen got
(01:00:48):
hurt in Week two. Has not been the same. They're
both gonna play tonight. I'm told, Uh, let's see if
they can hang in it. They lost a tough one
earlier this season at Kansas City. Here's the problem though,
for this game, guys, I'm not saying it's gonna happen,
but there's a chance that they're more Charger for excuse me,
they're more Chief fans and Charger fans and so far. Yeah, no,
there will be a sea of red that will that
will be the case. Uh, still should be a good game.
(01:01:10):
These teams put on shows no matter who's available and
who's not. Adam Kaplan joining us here on Fox Sports Radio.
He's Bertie Freddo. I'm Dan Buyer. Two second half yards
for the Jets in that loss and now they lost heartbreaking,
But I mean, uh, what do you do with Zack Wilson?
What do you do with that offense? Look, here's what
players will tell you. The veterans could go in there
(01:01:33):
and say, listen, we're six and four. The kid can't
do it. Now, let's go well the obviously the alternatives
either Mike White or Joe Flacco. It's not great Joe.
Joe actually played fairly well before that he got pulled
for for Wilson. They have to make a decision here,
do you want to take the short term game by
bringing in someone like uh, actually Mike Whites technically ahead
(01:01:56):
of a Flacco flag was obviously about a quarterback just
to get just to give any read war. He used
to say with Donald McNabb when mcnabbo struggle and he
put he'd bencham I got. We need Donovan to take
a step back, just just see the landscape. Just relaxed.
Stop putting pressure on yourself. I listen, this is Bill Belichick.
You're playing in New England. You had it's expected to
be bad. It was bad, but it wasn't like he
(01:02:18):
turned the ball over Ton. They just have no offense
right now. And and here's another thing. Elijah Moore, who
was a terrific rookie receiver for the Jets, it's like
he doesn't even play for them anymore. You know, he's
piped off a couple of times he got in trouble.
That's a spending for a game and a couple of
catches today. But it's bad now. It's bad now. They're
clearly gonna be a playoff team. If you know on
the a f C in terms of a wild card,
(01:02:40):
they're right there that they're they're the seventh seed right now.
The Charters and the Bengals are still game back. But
this thing could slip away from him if they don't,
if they don't get to sing together here. And the
other other problem is they don't have brief halt to
rely on it running back, and that's a major issue, Adam.
Last one for me, the Rams went all in last
year and it work. But Sean McVeigh has left clues
(01:03:02):
in his showing signs at the wear and tear of
his profession. It leads me to believe he's certainly not
going to be a life for how many more years
do you think he does? Having him? Well, I spoke
to someone very close and was in coaching. I'm gonna
say in the spring when the rumors were out there.
In fact, I remember I was on Fox Sports raided
from the Super Bowl and Dan might have asked me
and I said, listen, this stuff is real, these rumors.
(01:03:23):
There's there's an opportunity television for him, and I know that.
I think some things get to him and the proper
coaches love control and there's nothing you can do about
their injury situation. They they've lost five linemen. Andrew Wittworth retired.
As you know, he's working television. They don't have a
running game, cups done. There's just he can't control what's
(01:03:44):
going on here, and I'm sure it bothers him. He's
incredibly competitively, super uptight too. Um, that's a great question. Um,
it's it's I'm not saying he's gonna leave after the season. Also,
he has an extension that he signed, so that's another
thing he and Lesson Neator signed for many years to
come the general manager. But this one does deserve to
be watching. Hey look at look what Look what Trump
Payne did walking away for you. We know he's gonna
(01:04:05):
be a coach next year. Hell the pick of the
letter there. Sometimes you his situation is a little different.
He'll never say that what the real reasons were why
he walked away, But I think part of us obviously
the way things were going in New Orleans kind of
a neutral. But it is a great point, Bernie, and
I think we gotta watch that one. He's Adam Capital
our Fox Sports Radio NFL inside to get him on
Twitter at Capital in NFL. Also here I'm on the
(01:04:27):
inside the Birds podcast. Talk you next week, Adam, have
happy Thanksgiving. Thanks guys, same to you. Thanks An. He's
Bernie Fratto. I'm Dan Buyer. Bengals are threatening, but they're
doing so without Joe Mixon, who's questionable to return to
this game against the Steelers because of a hit head injury.
UH For the latest of what's going on in Pittsburgh
and the Twin Cities and in Denver and everywhere else,
(01:04:50):
let's go to the news desk with Well, you hit
it right on the money. The Bengals were knocking at
the door, and they've knocked. They've scored. They just had
a rushing touchdown, so they have taking the lead over
the Steelers. Twenty three to twenty is the score. We'll
see if that extra point is good. And you are right,
Joe Mixon is being evaluated for a head injury, so
he is not out there. The Cowboys they can't stop
(01:05:12):
scoring either. They just scored again. They are killing the
Vikings thirty seven to three. So in this week's episode
of Why I Hate Fantasy Football is that I have
Kirk Cousins. So that's this week's episode, so listen. I
uh all right. The extra point was good for the Bengals,
(01:05:32):
so they are up twenty four to twenty on the Steelers.
But ye have the Cowboys have scored again. Dak Prescott
has completed nineteen of twenty two passes for two hundred
and fifty one yards and two touchdowns. Both of them
have gone to Tony Pollard who has six receptions a
hundred and nine yards and two touchdowns, and Ezekiel Elliott
has two rushing touchdowns. Thirty seven to three is the score.
Eight minutes to go in the third quarter. Again, I
(01:05:54):
have Kirk Cousins moving on the Broncos and the Raiders.
Broncos are up thirteen to ten, very only in the
fourth quarter. Let's move on to college football because the
AP Top twenty College Football poll is out the four
The top four teams didn't move, so Georgia number one,
Ohio State number two, Michigan TCU for the first time
in five years, USC has moved into the top five.
(01:06:18):
Yes after yesterday's when l s U stayed at number six.
Clemson moved up two spots to number seven, Alabama State
foot at number eight, Tennessee dropped four spots to number nine,
and in case you missed it, Tennessee's quarterback Kendon Hooker
towards a c L last night and Oregon runs out
the top ten. So this just came out and the
World Cup started today. The opening match, it was e
(01:06:41):
who took down Quatar to zero. There is a video
out there of the fans chanting that means we want beer.
That's what they were chanting at the match they did win.
Is z that karma? I don't know, because abruptly Quitar
said that they were going to ban the sale of
beer at all of the stadiums, eight of them. That
are news for the World Cup. I don't know if
(01:07:01):
you guys heard about this, but Budweiser tweeted this photo
of just palettes and palettes of beer that are what
are they gonna do with So they said that they're
going to repurpose it and it's all gonna go to
the winning country. Whoever wins the World Cup will get
all of the bud Wiser beer that they could not sell.
(01:07:22):
I know, I mean, I think this is a big incentive.
It's a big incentive for all the countries now and
the biggest thing in NBA. Guys, guess who's gonna play today.
I guess who's starting. Kyrie Irving is starting for the
Nets against the Grizzlies. That game ex set for seven
pm Eastern time. That's all I got for you, guys.
Back to you, thank you very much. Monster. Get her
(01:07:44):
on Twitter at Monty Belangos. She's live from the tirect
dot com studios, as are we the Brocos and Nathaniel Hackett.
I wanted to ask Adam this, but I've forgotten. Just
reminded as we were watching it. UH handed play calling
duties to of Kubia excuse me and uhum ended up?
(01:08:04):
Uh Bernie. Sometimes these moves, um are made to be like, see,
it's not my fault. Um. But then again, everything does
fall on the shoulders of the head coach. But it's
not like the Broncos are a completely different team with
a play calling And it was actually something last year
that Nick Sirianni for the Eagles got credit for because
(01:08:24):
he handed the play calling over to offensive coordinator Shane Steiken,
and the Eagles have have taken off and we've seen
their great success this year. Um the word that I
had heard a lot in social media and hearing insiders
talk about this move was that it's a good move
for Nathaniel Hackett to do so, to realize that something's wrong,
(01:08:44):
to try to right this ship and everything doesn't have
to be um your sort of deal. But the Broncos
still having the same troubles as they did, whether Nathaniel
Hackett is calling the plays or not. Is the Raiders
now only down three in that game with ten minutes
to go, nearing midfield? Same table in Denver. Yes, And
you know, Dan, there's sort of an irony to that
(01:09:05):
move today because what was Nathaniel Hackett's stock and trade
in getting the job in Denver and that he was
an exquisite play caller and would be able to, you know,
negotiate this offense, especially with Russell Wilson's ability to keep
plays alive with his feet, and now he hands over
those duties I know for my tenures and covering the Lions.
Probably a head coach should not do that because as
(01:09:27):
a head coach, you're a CEO and you've got a
ton on your plate, and when you're an offensive coordinator
or even a defensive coordinator for that matter, you're considered
sort of the CEO of the offense or the CEO
of the defense. So it's a massive responsibility and you
get into the heat of the game. Doesn't surprise me
that there's not a lot of change because you have
to get familiar with terminology and cadence and timing and tendencies.
(01:09:49):
It can be a real you know cluster when the
game gets going in the heat of battle, when it's
you know, hot and hard to breathe, so to speak.
And so it's gonna be a transition. This is a
real transition. You're in Denver. The is not painting out
like they hoped it would, and they're gonna have to
hope that their defense can rise to the occasion. And
a defensive holding call bail's the Raiders out. It was legit,
but they had a third and twelve and uh, Derek
(01:10:11):
Carr overthrew his receiver U in part because of some
of the the shenanigans that were going on. But a
first and ten for the Raiders now at their own
forty eight yard line again, down three thirteen to ten,
under ten minutes to go in the game in Denver.
Crazy that a Raiders Broncos game could have so little
riding on it, but at least it's competitive, which is
(01:10:32):
much more than we can say for what's happening in Minnesota,
where it is thirty seven to three and Kirk Cousins
continues to be under siege. It is so bad. It
is now third and twenty five UH four Minnesota trying
to convert from their own fifteen yard line, UH down
thirty four points in this contest, and Treyvon Diggs almost
(01:10:54):
had an interception on the previous play ended up going.
It would have been a great one handed catch, but
Dallas does not seem to be um laying off the
gas pedal on defense by any means. Still six fifty
one left to go on the third quarter. It is
all Cowboys as we are live from the ti iraq
dot com studios. Get Bertie on Twitter at Bernie Fratto.
(01:11:14):
You can find Meat on Twitter at Dan Buyer. On Fox,
we talked about the importance of this Cowboys game. Bertie.
When you look at the landscape of the NFC, and
you mentioned the forty Niners, is you know a team
that that you like? And I think that people like
the forty Niners, And I don't want to put words
in your mouth, but when you try to look at
the defenses across uh, you know the board in the NFC.
(01:11:35):
It's what I like about San Francisco so much. I
think that Seattle obviously has questions within that division. I
don't trust what Minnesota does. I like what Philadelphia does,
like what Dallas has. But when you're talking about defense
and you're talking about the running game, it's something that
that uh, that the forty Niners have Minnesota doesn't. And
it's not a pileon Minnesota sort of thing. But when
(01:11:57):
we talk about this Vikings Cowboys game, and when you're
talking about contenders, you try to go to the top
of the top of the top, and this game could
actually have ramifications for home field advantage in uh the playoffs.
If somehow Dallas was able to reel in the Eagles
or two ahead in the lost column, They've got a
game coming up in Dallas later on this season, an
(01:12:20):
opportunity for the Cowboys to even creep closer. If your
Dallas in that situation, this sort of play today could
come into play down the road, especially if you're looking
at a number one seed. Because I don't think you're
gonna see any challenges from the team in the NFC
West or the NFC South Bernie to get that number
one overall seed. Another reason why this is such a
big game today between the Cowboys and Vikings all true,
(01:12:42):
and I think you've got to give yourself a victory,
lap Dan, because there's an old saying, trust your eyes
to tell you a lot. And even weeks ago you
were seeing things chinks in the armor and listened to
the show with you and George, and you weren't casting
as versions. You're merely raising questions, and today those questions
are somewhat being answered. Here's why I won't drawn too
many conclusions yet, because the Vikings we're gonna have to
(01:13:02):
lick their wounds and guess what they got in New
England and Bill Belichick coming to town Thanksgiving night will
be the third game in the evening. Typically, it's been
my observation when an NFL team is embarrassed this way,
they respond pretty significantly the following game. We'll see if
the Vikings can do that. But you know that the
pressure that Dallas is getting on uh Kirk Cousins day,
(01:13:24):
and I get the Cowboys top credit for being ready
to play today. You know Bill Belichick will take a
look at that and find what those tendencies are, So
Minnesota is going to have to write this ship Thursday
because to your point, this will have home field advantages
and you'd rather have at least one playoff game at home.
So again, it's not just that the Vikings are losing,
(01:13:45):
and it's the way they're losing, in the way Dallas
has taken care of business. How do the Vikings respond
Thursday night against New England And then a weird scheduling
sort of quirk. The Vikings have played their three division
opponents all at home, so they still have to go
to Green Bay, have to go to Chicago the final
two weeks of the year, and and now, Bernie, you know,
to go to Detroit and face the Lions. Not a
(01:14:06):
not a short fire thing by any means. Well, and
think of those two road trips Chicago and UM and
green Bay or what were the you just mentioned. I'm
sorry there. It's green Bay in week seventeen and the
Bears in week eight teen, both on the road. That's
how they end the season. So we know it's not
gonna be seventy and Sonny and all the years I
covered the Lions. When hot house teams go outside December,
(01:14:28):
it's never good. The track is slower. It neutralizes some
of the Vikings great weapons, and Dalvin Cook I apologize,
I call him down Smith earlier. Thanks for letting me
get away with that, justin Jefferson, all of a sudden,
it neutralizes those weapons. And those teams that look fast
and carpet at home, they're not as prolific. That's also
an issue. So that's kind of a bad draw for
(01:14:48):
Minnesota to have to go to, you know, not only
two divisional foes in December, but playing less than stellar conditions.
Daniel Carlson has kicked the fifty seven yard field goal
for the Raiders. They were unable to convert on a
and eleven almost actually the ball was tipped up and
could have been intercepted. But the game is tied. Raiders
and Broncos thirteen apeak seven oh six to go in Denver,
Pittsburgh driving, but unable to convert in third and four
(01:15:11):
from the Bengals fifteen yard line, so they're gonna have
to settle for a field goal attempt from Matthew Right.
It's the Bengals Steelers five left to the third quarter
in that one, and also in the third Vikings punted
it back to Dallas All Cowboys today thirty seven to three,
Dallas is up and the field goal is good for
the Steelers and now they only trail by one, twenty
(01:15:32):
four to twenty three. Get Bernie on Twitter at Bernie Fratto.

On Fox, the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network had the highlight
top of the hour, We're gonna We're gonna talk more
about these Vikings and Cowboys, and really it's a Vikings
conversation just because of of of what today man especially
on the heels of last week. That's it's the only
(01:17:11):
game in our late window that is non competitive. The
Broncos have taken the lead on the Raiders three thirty
to go. The Raiders have the football first and ten
if their own twenty five, they have two time outs.
Time should not be a factor there. In Denver, we
saw Daniel Carlson make a fifty seven yard or a
little bit earlier in this game, So the Raiders don't
(01:17:31):
have to go far, but they are going to have
to get something done to get into field goal range.
As for the Bengals and Steelers, Cincinnati continue to leave
this one to twenty three, they're gonna have to go
the rest of the way. Joe Mixon has been ruled
out with that concussion. Bengals, we're facing a second down
and Joe Burrow ended up excuse me a third down,
(01:17:53):
ended up getting sacked on third and ten. So now
it's fourth and thirteen as Evan McPherson is coming in
and to kick a fifty four yard field goal that
would extend the Bengals lead to four in this contest.
A sharp looking game with the Bengals wearing their b
white Bengal Tiger uniforms and the Steelers going with they're
(01:18:14):
all black. I guess throwback if you will, sort of
color rush look. But the field goal is good, so
the Bengals are up four. I want to talk about
the Rams just for a second here, Bernie, because earlier
this week on Fox Sports Radio, sitting in for Doug Gottlieb.
Normally you hear me on Doug Show three o'clock Eastern time,
noon Pacific, and I was sitting in the host chair
(01:18:35):
earlier this week, and I just wanted to talk about
the Rams because to your point about asking Adam Kaplan
and about Sean mcveigh's future could be a real possibility.
But we pile on and we we talked about the
draft pick I did earlier on in the show, of
what they're going to be giving the Lions. But to me,
it was to be able to win the Super Bowl,
which is what their goal was. It was it was
(01:18:56):
all worth it. And I know that in times right
now are not great for the Rams. In the future
does not look great for the Rams right now. But
to go to four Super go to two Super Bowls
and a span of four years, and end up winning
one of them, say what you will about what's going
on right now. You know, if I'm a Rams fan,
I'm satisfied with with what they've done. It may not
be satisfied with this season, but if you look at
(01:19:18):
a big picture wise, it's a heck of a lot
to accomplish for what they did and to go outside
the box in the way that they did. I'm not
going to rain on the parade of less Need and
Sean McVeigh because I think that what they did they
set out to accomplish what they wanted to accomplish. Now
they're just having to pay on the back end of it,
and a lot of teams would love to pay if
they have a Super Bowl of Insula Partie trophy on
(01:19:39):
their shelves million percent dan uh Co sign. Just ask
the good folks of Buffalo what they do for a
Super Bowl. The good folks in Minnesota. How about in Detroit.
One playoff win since nineteen fifty seven, That was clear
back in nineteen two, and the Rams gave in affort today.
You haven't quit. Cam Akers played his heart out, Matt
Stafford played hard. Leave no Cooper Cup to to at well,
(01:20:01):
maybe makes the greatest catch of his career. Yarny. Here's
the offense actually showed up and sustained some drives, but
for the defense, just couldn't get it done today. This
is what happens. Not the first team to have Super
Bowl hangover. Absolutely not. Get Bernie again on Twitter at
Bernie Fretter. You can find me on Twitter at Dan Buyer.
On Fox, the Raiders unable to do anything with that possession,
(01:20:22):
so they've punted it back to Denver. Three or five
left to go. Raiders still have their two time outs,
but down three to the Broncos. As the Broncos taken
over first and tent from their twenty yard line. Why
Minnesota continues to beat Minnesota that next year on Fox
Sports Radio, interesting developments of what's going on in Denver
(01:20:42):
in a close game between the Broncos and Raiders. We
will get to that's because we are broadcasting live from
the tirect dot com studios. Tirac dot com will help
you get there with unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free
road hazard protection and over ten thou recommended installers tirect
dot com. The way tire buying should be. Broncos up
on the Raiders burning sixteen thirteen in Denver, just punted
(01:21:04):
it back to Las Vegas. After the Broncos were unable
to convert a third and ten, Russell Wilson throwing an
incomplete pass. Now he was pressured, he was on the run,
but the pass to get the first down was nowhere
in the vicinity of of a receiver. Well, I should
say it was because it was somewhere in the vicinity,
(01:21:26):
but lead the receiver way too much. There was no
way that receiver was going to get their hands on
the football. Is there actually two or three guys in
the area. The point is two minute warning there on
the other side of it. Instead of running the ball
and taking forty seconds off the clock, which is probably
the smart move. You think your quarterback can make a play,
Russell Wilson is unable to, and now they punted back
(01:21:48):
to the Raiders who don't have any time outs. A
minute on the clock and going and other Raiders have
gotten into midfield. But these are the times. This is
why you You brought Russell Wilson in there, and there
maybe hiccups here and there, but when you need him
to make a play, he doesn't do it. And now
the Broncos defense is gonna have to step up. You
alluded to it about an hour ago. The fact that
(01:22:08):
the Broncos defense has been the one unit this year
that has been their saving grace. And what's interesting, Dan
is further underscoring the fact that the Broncos offense has
been a massive disappointment. If Denver would have simply scored
exactly nineteen points in every game this year, they'd be
eight and one heading into today's game. But that hasn't happened.
(01:22:30):
They've been averaging fifteen a game. As Raiders are on
the move here, we'll see what happens. But if the
Broncos lose this game as it's being salted away, if
the Raiders handle this right and close it out, I
don't think the Broncos get the ball back. What a
massive disappointment to score only sixteen points at home against
the team that's clearly one of the top two bottom
(01:22:52):
defenses in the league, and the Broncos had a bit
of a breakdown. It is Josh Jacobs was left wide open,
Derek Carr got it to Jake, and Jacob's rambled down
to the seven yard line a forty three yard reception.
The Broncos have two time outs. They were the ones
that actually took a time out. As it's now sixteen
to thirteen, and the Raiders have an opportunity uh to
(01:23:14):
cash in and put the ball into the end zone
to take the lead. So they aren't looking just to
tie this ball game. They're looking to go ahead. Is
Derek cars pass into the end zone is overthrown looking
for Foster Moreau. So now it's second down and goal.
But I mean, the Wilson play wasn't wasn't even close, Bernie.
And the other part about it is, you know, there
(01:23:35):
are a couple of times where it looked like maybe
Russell Wilson was gonna be able to escape a defender
um and he can't anymore like like that portion of
his game. And when you look at the rushing stats
these last two seasons for Russell Wilson per game and
in this year as well, if if things continue, he's
(01:23:55):
on pace for his lowest rushing total of his career,
and that is no longer a part of of the game.
It's no longer a threat to his UH to uh
to his arsenal. As the Raiders were unable to complete
a pass on third down, I hesitated because it ricocheted
off about three different players before falling incomplete. But just
(01:24:17):
on a third and ten call, Bernie, where Wilson rolls out,
he's no longer able to just tuck it and run,
maybe get five yards, keep the clock going. What they
ended up doing is they threw an incomplete pass that
allowed the Raiders to have at least forty more seconds
on the clock to work with. Does either team want
to win this game? You brought up to point about
the Denver time out, Why would hack can even use
your time out there when the Raiders had to spike
the ball? Yeah, and this is just a comedy of errors.
(01:24:41):
It continues, and you know everything you said about Russell Wilson,
I agree with. Look, he's a little older, he's a
little slower. Uh, he's not the missing link Denver. You know,
heading into the game today, Number two defense when you
juxtapose what Geno Smiths done with the offense and Seattle
and validates with Pete Carroll has been saying for you years.
It's not today. Dislike Russell Wilson, I just sometimes think
(01:25:04):
you have to see things for what they are. And
by the way, the Raider again, the Broncos defense is
stepping up. I think the Raiders are down to their
last shot here, and not for nothing. The Raiders offense
in the red zone has been abysmal this year as well.
So this is like bad conceptual football. This is like
a replay a Monty Python here, not good football. Dan
and Daniel Carlson is on the attempt at twenty five
(01:25:25):
yard field goal and while you're saying, oh, that's a gimme,
Brendan McManus had a twenty five yard are blocked earlier
in the game. So there, so there's when we are
taking no chances in predicting anything. It ends up Carlson's
field goal is good. So it's the Raiders and Broncos
tied up at sixteen. Broncos have one time out left
sixteen seconds to go, depending on where they are field
(01:25:47):
position wise, If if Carlson kicks it through the end zone.
First intent of the UH. You can use the middle
of the field because you have that time out. And
again you're in the thin air in Denver, even though
it's a little chilly, um Brendan McMann, this does have
the leg but sixteen seconds left. Uh. The Vikings have
ten minutes and four seconds left in their afternoon. And
then for them, thank goodness, it'll be over because it
(01:26:10):
has been all Cowboys. Brett marg just added another field goal, UH,
this time from fifty yards out. It's forty two three
like this is this is such a statement game from
the Cowboys after hearing how they blew last week's game
and coming back against against Green Bay, or having that
lead against Green Band watching the Packers come back and
(01:26:32):
beat them, and now to be able to respond to this.
I know Minnesota gave their all UH last week in
Buffalo and what was such a classic. But that's that's
what good teams do. Is they come back and they
and they play well the next week, or they show
they're able to grind something out. And today they've grinded
out three points. And I said at the beginning, Bernie,
(01:26:53):
I want Minnesota to kick the crap out of someone
that's what I want from the Vikings. These comeback wins
do not impress me. I joke with Minnesota, but they're
giving me a very difficult time to let go of
the nickname, because that's what this is, who they are.
I wanted that win last week validated, and they have
given us nothing of the short You brought up the
point about of the close games this year, and outside
(01:27:16):
of kicking the crap out of green Bay in Week one,
it has been anything but for Minnesota. Let's break down
the Vikings and see this for what it is. Uh,
when sports fans look at their teams, there are objective
truths and there are personal feelings. Fans often confused the two.
Let's look at some objective truths. Yes, the Vikings or
eight and one, but were they really eight and one? Dan?
(01:27:37):
You started to question then when they were six and one,
after they beat Arizona thirty four to twenty six, three
or four weeks ago. Arizona beat themselves that day. They
had false starts, sacks, holding penalties, consecutive penalties, not getting
plays in in time delay, a game that was Arizona's
game to win, and the Vikings sort of, you know,
would let them win it because Arizona wouldn't let themselves
(01:28:00):
win it. Heading into today, there was an uproar. I
even heard Steve Hartman talking about it. How could the
Cowboys be favorites on the road. Well, he's right, how
could they be except when you look at the thing
and betting called the Pythagorean theorem. When the Minnesota Vikings
entered this game today, yes they're eight and one, but
their point differential was plus thirty five on the air
on the year. If it if the game is at
(01:28:22):
forty three, the Vikings will now have given up two
more points than they scored on the year. They're uh
their their yards per game differential heading into today was
minus two twenty nine. That's good for twenty three in
the NFL. This is the worst performance of an eight
and one team in the history of the National Football League,
and the wait one team has been at home underdock
since nineteen seventy six. Where am I going with this?
(01:28:43):
The Pythagorean theorem model suggests that if you have those
numbers in terms of points allowed versus points scored, the
same with yards allowed versus yards accumulated, your record is
probably five and four. That's what the Pathagorean theorem tells you.
So your instincts starting to three weeks ago, and as
we close the show last week, you want to see
these things validated. Minnesota has been dominated in every former fashion. Today.
(01:29:06):
Their top receivers Adam Feeling, I see, I think it's
Dalvin Actually, Devin Cook is one of their top receivers today.
They've really kept Justin Jefferson in check. They really catch
cock t J. Hockenson in check. They've combined from like
sixty five yards. So again it's played in three phases.
If Minnesota's offense couldn't get rolling today with their defense
didn't do many favors either. Denver has gotten to their
(01:29:28):
forty one yard line and couldn't even get their final play. Huh.
Put together? They told you that sixteen seconds and one
time out through a through a short pass to Melvin
Gordon to get a first down to use their final
time out through about a five yard pass, seven yard
pass to Greg Dulcitch got out of bounds. But then
on the second down throw with three seconds left from
(01:29:51):
their own forty one, Russell Wilson through one to Courtland Sutton.
Sutton thought it was gonna be a Hail Mary in
the end zone and instead at landed about the Raiders
thirty yard lines, so they weren't even on the same
page for what they were going to do with their
final throws. So they're headed to overtime. In Denver, Broncos
and Raiders tied up at sixteen. As for what's happening
(01:30:11):
in Minnesota, Kirk Cousins has been replaced Nick Mullins now
in the game in that forty three contest, and Bernie.
Last week there was such a headline about Fox in
the NFL having to change in certain TV markets from
the Minnesota Buffalo game, and we had it. We had
(01:30:34):
it here in Southern California where Kurt had to come
in as soon as the Bills tied it up at
thirty apiece and saying, due to NFL rules, we now
must take you away from this game and bring you
your regularly scheduled game at Eastern time. Well, this is
the other TV thing that you get. We are now
taking you to a more competitive game. And that is
(01:30:56):
what happened to the Vikings today. A Vikings Cowboy game
it is on CBS, has now been switched off to
the Bengal Steelers game, which right now is in the
fourth quarter Pittsburgh as the ball at midfield, down by
four to the Cincinnati Bengals. So in two weeks the
Vikings were involved in games where you have the dreaded
broadcast either we have to take you away from this game,
(01:31:19):
or we're gonna switch you to a more competitive game.
And the competitive game is what they got this week.
No Heidi, this week, Bernie, but they just allowed the
fans to see a more competitive game. Good call, Buddy,
And I thought you guys broke it down real well
Monday on Gottlieb Show, and I think your consensus was,
when you have a game like that, who would people
rather see the last five minutes of a competitive game?
In the first five minutes of the game just kicking off,
(01:31:41):
And of course Heidi goes that that was the Raiders
and Jets back in and the Raiders were losing thirty
two to twenty nine with a minute to go in
the network says, we let's cut away at Sunday night.
The nation wants to watch Heidi and the Raiders scored
two touchdowns in the final minute and one thirty two.
No one could believe it, and boy that was something
that has gone down in infamy. I think in decades
were fired and the station was was flooded with phone calls.
(01:32:04):
I am guessing today we'll have to do caller I
D I'm guessing Kurt Cousins call the network and said,
why don't you just winch the game while simultaneously holding
up a sign like Manti says it Caramo's service. Porfevore,
bring me beer please. Uh gonna need a lot of
it in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Uh, that is for sure.

Thanksgiving schedule that is always up for debate. Bernie, we

This is Fox Sports Radio. It's a Fox Football Sunday
(01:33:08):
while give me the Red Zone Radio. He's Bernie Fratto.
I'm Dan Bayer. Getting you everything you need to know
in Week eleven live from the entire ract dot com studios,
including what happened in Pittsburgh som j p Ryan, who's
filling in for the injured Joe Mixon who left the
game of the head injury and will not return. P
Ryan's just caught his third touchdown pass of the game
(01:33:31):
from Joe Burrow, who was thrown four, this time a
six yard touchdown pass, and the Bengals have extended their
lead over the Steelers three with four thirty left to
go in Pittsburgh. As for what happened in Denver, they
went to overtime and then this went down between the
Broccos and Raiders. Are play action again looking downfield, lots
(01:33:55):
in your corner, Adams wide over at the five. He
walks in a Raiders walk off with the win titles
down DeVante Adams to win it here in Denver, Derek
Carr waited and waited and floating one to the same
spot where he threw the first touchdown to Davante Today
(01:34:16):
and in overtime Lake the Raiders beat the Broncos twenty
two to sixteen. The Raiders and Raider natured Radio Am
with the call. Raiders win the toss it overtime. They
go down and score right away, as you heard on
that thirty five yard touchdown reception from Davante Adams. Broncos
(01:34:37):
lose again. Raiders get a big win. While Bertie, I
bet the Raiders wish they could play Denver every week.
They swept him this year. They beat him thirty two
to twenty three at home earlier and in the first
week of October. And if I'm not mistaken, they've beaten
Denver nine of the last eleven and after beating him
last year, they fired Vic Fangio. So maybe the Raiders
(01:34:58):
can get Denver under schedule more often. This is again
this this comes down. You know, in a situation, it's
it's not gonna get talked about much, uh nationally it
happens a lot in the National Football League, burning but
it's the difference between good teams and great teams. And
sometimes some mediocre teams and good teams. It's making a play.
(01:35:18):
In Indianapolis, the Colts have a three point edge on
the Eagles, and Matt Ryan hits Paris Campbell for a
big play. They get a first in goal situation. Touchdown
makes it a two score game, and you essentially put
the nail on the coffin of the Philadelphia Eagles and
you get a win. Well, they aren't able to convert
(01:35:41):
on a first down run and then an incomplete pass,
and then on third down, third and goal from the
five yard line, Matt Ryan takes a sack. And what
that does is maybe maybe the Colts consider going for
it on fourth and goal from the five, up three
in that scenario, but there was no consideration having to
go for it, so they ended up kicking the field goal,
(01:36:03):
went up by six, only to watch Philadelphia drive down
the field and score the go ahead touchdown. Sack really
hurt him, It really did. I go back in this
Broncos game. It's the third down and ten that Denver
was unable to compete where Russell Wilson was flushed out
of the pocket where we have heard hey Russ get
Russ on the move. Do this with Russ. Then it's
not there and he throws a pass that had no
(01:36:24):
chance of being completed. It stopped the clock with two
minutes to go. You mentioned Nathaniel Hackett calling a time
when the Raiders were willing to willing to spike the football.
Now in the end it didn't didn't hurt them because
they were able to get the stop on downs, but
they end up losing it overtime. And these are the
things that that's the difference between being a good team
and being a great team. We're being a mediocre team
(01:36:47):
and being a good team, and now we're going down.
We're talking about these errors that happened with three and
seven teams and that's right now where the Broncos and
Raiders are just bad football on the part of Denver today.
And this is what shows up when you have three
and seven teams. Uh And to your point, all the
of all the NFL games are covered over the years,
you typically see a pattern where the game comes down
(01:37:10):
to about four or five key plays, key instrumental plays
that go one way or the other. The fourth and
one that you go for in your own territory that
you don't make the inopportune holding penalty after you just
got a first down. Name it. Those are the little
things and you look and they come back and they
form the pieces of the puzzle that over time you
(01:37:30):
stack up bad things, and bad things happen and you
lose football games. This is what shows up when you
get a couple of three and seven teams on the field.
So now the Raiders are at three and seven. What
this is also done? This is provided the Houston Texans
with some nice breathing room when it comes to getting
the first overall pick in the draft, because now every
(01:37:51):
team in the NFL has three wins or more outside
of the Houston Texans, who are sitting there pretty at one,
eight and one. So you've got now a cushion where
where that that number one overall pick sure seems destined
to Houston even though we've got you know, six uh
seven more games to go for these teams. Houston right
(01:38:12):
now a nice little cushion and holding that first overall
pick as they are the only one win team in
the National Football League and there are no to win teams.
As the Raiders got their third win over the Broncos
in overtime. Let's get a look at our Fantasy Numbers
Executive producer Bo Benson here with the latest in the
world of Fantasy Fantasy heads and misses. This is the
(01:38:38):
MSS portion of the program, Bernie. This is where you
don't want any of your players named. Yeah, what you
got Bo? Certainly a first guy here is someone that
you expect more out of. He had a modest day.
But Josh Allen, the Bill's quarterback, just a hundred and
seven hundred and ninety seven yards passing in one touchdown.
You want to get more out of him, for sure,
rushing yards to you only have like seven weeks. He
(01:38:59):
didn't and it was in a dome, and I know
he's coming off injury, but still you you expect a
little bit more out of him. Um trio or running
backs today that did not do much. Miles Sanders of
the Eagles just thirteen carries and forty seven yards. Say
Kwon Barkley of the Giants fifteen carries in twenty two yards,
which is surprising given the season he's had. And then
Damian Pierce, the Texans running back uh ten carries for
(01:39:22):
eight yards. I think I saw a stat that the
Texans were averaging like eight inches a carry at halftime
or something like that. Today, UM, so yeah, not good.
And then uh, just everybody on the Vikings today they're
all Kirk Cousins, Uh, Dalvin Cook, Justin Jefferson. Um, not good.
If you if you're a fantasy owner that traded Justin
(01:39:43):
Jefferson this week, you're looking like a genius, which maybe
that was me. I don't know. We appreciate to give
both on Twitter at bow T Benson, that's b e
a U. I don't know how long we're gonna be
able to read Twitter handles. So I'm gonna do it
while we came. It will we'll continue that eight inches
(01:40:03):
per play for the Texans. Um that seems eight inches
you don't want to be proud of. I'll tell you
that much. That's what we've got with the Houston Texans.
One eight and one. After being dominated, they lost twenty
three the ten of the Commander's Bernie. And it wasn't
even that close. And I mean it was. It's not
like I spent tons of time watching that game, but
every time I seem to be watching it, the Commanders
(01:40:26):
had the football, or Davis Mills was being pressured, or
Davis Mills was walking off the field after another uh
failed third don conversion. I give it up to to
Ron Rivera and Taylor Heineke. Uh. They're playing good football.
Nice victory and Monday night against Philadelphia. They followed up
going on the road against Houston. Fortunately the other Texas
(01:40:47):
team having their way. Kirk Cousins, it's gonna need a
hot shower. He sacks seven times today, four Cowboys in
the act, including Michael Parsons who had two sacks. I'm
really impressed with Dallas today. I want to get him
top credit. Get Bernie on Twitter at Bernie Fredder. You
can find me on Twitter at Dan Buyer on Fox.
Steelers gave the ball back to the Bengals. Bengals up
(01:41:08):
thirty four, Yeah, twenty three three twenty left to go
in that contest. So Cincinnati getting revenge from Week one.
It seems like a long long time ago, but these
two teams played a crazy game that ended up going
into overtime in Cincinnati to start the season, A game
that was won by the Steelers when Mitchell Trabsky was
(01:41:29):
the starting quarterback. Was also the game that t J.
Watt ended up getting hurt in uh what now back
with the Steelers, but not enough today as it looks
like the Bengals are going to improve the six and
four and the Steelers falling to three and seven, as
they're going to attempt the field goal to make it
a fourteen trying to make it a four teen point edge.
And here's the other thing about the the a f
C when we talk about the Cincinnati Bengals, Bernie, is
(01:41:51):
that the Bengals at the start of the day, we're
on the outside looking into the playoff picture, like we
we kind of feel like Cincinnati maybe maybe kind of
turned the corner. Maybe the start of the year was
a little bit sluggish from the uh from the from
the Super Bowl, but maybe we thought that the Bengals
were turning things around. But when you had the log
jam that you do in the a f C East
(01:42:12):
with the Dolphins and Jets and obviously Buffalo we talked about,
but even the Patriots are in that conversation and the
Chargers for the injuries that they've had. There in the conversation,
the Bengals are actually on the outside looking in to start.
So a big win a nice win for them when
that they needed to have. Cincinnati's field goal is good,
but it's not like it's a sure bet that Cincinnati's
(01:42:34):
just gonna walk into the playoffs, but they are playing
like a team, uh, that you don't want to mess with,
kind of like they turned it out at the end
of last season. Well, it got off to an on
ball start in training camp when Joe Burrow had his
situation with the appendicitis and turned out that took a
little longer to heal and get enough reps. And then
we were told that Cincinnati had rebuilt their offensive line. Uh,
(01:42:56):
not so much. They look terrible the first few weeks.
Jamaar Chase was inconsistent. To Bengals again, a little bit
of a Super Bowl hangover their own. But they're progressing
quite nicely and it's they're stacking together pretty good performances.
Joe Burrow looks like the all pro Joel Burrow we've seen.
And when you go into Pittsburgh win by two touchdowns,
you're sending a message another divisional win, by the way,
(01:43:19):
not for nothing. This holds Pittsburgh falls the three and seven.
Could be Mike Tomlin looking at his first losing season,
his head coach of the Pittsburgh Stealers. Look at this
gauntlet that Cincinnati has to run through uh the rest
of the season. There at Tennessee next week and then
home against Kansas City, team that they beat obviously twice
last year. Once at all near the end of the
regular season. Then they can try to get revenge on
(01:43:41):
the Browns who beat him a few weeks ago at Tampa,
at New England, against the Bills, and against the Ravens.
So there's it's not gonna be easy. There's there's no
there's no cake walk in any of those matchups for
Cincinnati the rest of the way. UM. So it's good
for them that they're starting to play some of their
better football and hopefully to get a healthy Jamaar Chase back.
(01:44:02):
Didn't need him today, got enough from SMA and didn't
need Jill mixing today as need be leave is some
p round ended up picking up the slack. But the
Bengals on their way to six and four is they
just sat Kenny pick it again and it is over
in Minnesota. I'm not gonna tell you what the final was.
Mont Blanios is is she is here to give us
the latest, monc what do you got? Well, listen, I
(01:44:22):
know the Cowboys were favored to win I heard that
all week, But were they favored to win by thirty sevens?
Is that what Vegas had or anybody? Was it thirty seven?
I I could have sworn it was a little closer
than that, But that's what they won by guys forty
to three. The Vikings scored a field goal in the
first quarter, and then they were just like, no, we're good,
We're good. We're gonna let Kirk Cousins get sacked. What
(01:44:44):
did you say, Bernie six seven times? Because he gave
me minus five minus five on my fantasy score. They
even took him out. They didn't even give me a chance.
But no, no, no, it's fine. I just didn't know
they were gonna win by that much. The Raiders took
down the Broncos in overtime. Sixteen was the final school Or.
Derek Cark completed twenty three or thirty seven passes for
three hundred and seven yards and two touchdowns to Davante Adams,
(01:45:06):
with the important one coming in overtime. He had seven
receptions a hundred and forty one yards and two touchdowns
as the Raiders beat the Broncos in overtime twenty two
to sixteen. One game is still going on. The Bengals
probably have sealed the deal with their latest score because
they are up by fourteen against the Steelers. Thirty seven
twenty three is a score with let's with less than
three minutes to go in the game. Joe Burrow has
(01:45:28):
completed twenty four thirty nine passes for three hundred and
fifty five yards and four touchdowns in the game. Now,
earlier today, we had a lot of NFL, not a
lot of exciting NFL, but hey, they happened. The Saints
outscored the Rams twenty seven to twenty. Anti Dalton passes
for two hundred and sixty yards and three touchdowns in
(01:45:49):
the victory. The Lions scored a field goal first, and honestly,
they never looked back and they took down the Giants
thirty one eighteen. Jamal Williams had seventeen carries, sixty four
yards and three touchdowns in the game. He now has
twelve rushing touchdowns, which leads the NFL this season. The
Ravens and the Panthers. It wasn't pretty, but the Ravens
won thirteen to three. The Commanders defeated the Texans twenty
(01:46:10):
three to thirteen. Commanders came out hot with the pick
six from Kendall Fuller and Taylor Heineke fifteen of twenty
seven for a hundred and ninety one yards. Commanders again
defeated the Texans twenty three to thirteen. The Falcons with
the win against the Bears twenty seven to twenty four.
The Bills. They beat the Browns. It wasn't that pretty either,
as you heard Bo Benson say with Josh Allen, but
they won. Thirty one to twenty three was the final score.
(01:46:33):
The Eagles. They bounced back thanks to a late rushing
touchdown by Jalen Hurts to beat the Cold seventeen sixteen.
And the Patriots with the crazy ten to three win
over the Jets. Uh yeah, twenty five seconds left. Everybody
thought it was going to overtime. That is not with
what happened with a the first punt return for a
touchdown this season by Marcus Jones, and that's how the
(01:46:55):
Patriots came out on top ten to three over the Jets.
It's been fun, guys. Back to you, Thank you very
much monet on Twitter at Monty Belato's Happy Thanksgiving to
you and yours. I hope you cannot you can take
in a Thanksgiving slate. Um, where you where you go
for Thanksgiving? Are their football games going to be on?
Of course? Okay, happened to me once I went to
(01:47:17):
a Thanksgiving and they didn't watch football. It was awful. Yes,
it was the worst. That's against the law and thirty
seven stage. It's been fount but apparently it was legal
in California at the time, so it was. It was,
it was. It was so bad. It was I went
to the bathroom every ten minutes just to check my
(01:47:38):
phone to see what the scores were. Almost all right,
thanks with dr next week, Bernie. Heck, I'm sure you've
been to a many a Thanksgiving Day at Detroit. I
never want the Lines to not host it. They've got
the Bills coming up on Thursday. They've got Giants, Cowboys
(01:47:59):
and Patriots Vice Kings as the nightcap, some intriguing score storylines. Um,
and I think we're gonna have three fun games to watch.
I don't want to say competitive, but they all have
something to uh at least something to uh, you know,
something at stake. Well said, and to your point, I
genuinely loved, uh, you know, covering the Lions and doing
(01:48:20):
pre and post on Thanksgiving. The first year I did it, Dan,
I know you remember this, it was Pittsburgh and Jerome
Bettis called heads and they thought he said tales and
that led to the change of the of the rule
of the coin flip. And then the last year I
did it that the Lions were oh in sixteen that
year in two thousand and eight. But I digress. So
the Lions open up there are a ten point underdog
against the Bills on Thursday. Then the Giants visit Dallas.
(01:48:45):
Dallas has opened up as a seven point favorite over
the Giants, and the Vikings opened up minus three against
New England, and money has already come in on Minnesota.
That line is now three and a half. But I
think you're marying up a good point. These are going
to be These three matchups, to me, are going to
be very enjoyable from a fans perspective, because Buffalo has
(01:49:06):
to continue. There's no margin for error if they want
to stay ahead of Miami and they don't want to
have to go through Kansas City to win another Super Bowl. Meanwhile,
are the Lions could they start to validate their three
lant game winning streak, knowing that statistically they got one
of the worst defenses in the league. It's gonna be
a challenge to stop. Josh Allen. I think the middle
(01:49:27):
game the Giants Cowboys is going to be the you know,
the highlight showdown of the three games. Another Cowboys. They've
been hosting it as well since the sixties. The Cowboys
defense has been elite all season, although they showed some
cracks the last few weeks. Today they were very much elite,
which leads us to the evening game, New England invades Town, Minnesota. Dan,
(01:49:49):
how will Minnesota rebound from today's debacle? They were running
away with the NFC North. They're not in danger in
any way, but this is one you want to really
flushed down the toilet because the Vikings to your point,
your eyes told you you weren't questioning whether they were
good enough team. You wanted as he'd invalidate their wins
(01:50:09):
because you weren't sure if they really were and eight
in one team. Yeah, and they showed unfortunately what they
are today. I think that they'll they'll put a much
better performance together on Thursday, because it's hard to do
worse than they did today. And it's absolutely atrocious, just
run over in in every facet of the of the
ball game and to lay the stinker. Then this is
(01:50:31):
where I feel bad for Minnesota fans because I know,
like they knew, they know what they have and you
want to believe, but your your eyes are telling you
a completely different thing than what the standings are. And
so to to be able to try to back this
up really would have proven a lot of a lot
of people wrong, and they were unable to do it.
So I think a better performance coming up. New England's
(01:50:53):
got problems offensively as well, but they're not gonna if
they're going to have the success that Dallas had today. Um,
I would be shocked. There's there's no way that in
New England has the firepower to match what Dallas can bring.
But they do bring a bit of a two headed
monster with Damian Harris and Romandre Stevenson in So that's
gonna be something Minnesota's gonna have to deal with. Is
(01:51:14):
they had a tough time dealing with Tony Pollard and
Ezekiel Elliott today. Steelers, I've just got into the end zone.
May not matter much, but Naj Harris a one yard
touchdown run forty five seconds left extra point, Uh, the
p T attempt. Uh, Steelers are going to kick it,
so they're gonna try to make it a thirty seven
to thirty ball game with forty five seconds left and
(01:51:37):
the extra point is good, so it's thirty seven to
thirty and Uh, the Steelers would go for attempt at
onside kick to try to get the football back down seven.
Other than that, everything's done. Just waiting for Chargers in
Chiefs tonight from Los Angeles and then tomorrow night in
Mexico City. It's the forty Niners and the Cardinals. And
I'd never want a Thanksgiving where I'm not watching the
(01:51:59):
Lions burn. I never wanted. I listen, I don't care
the highest rated games traditionally in the regular season every
single year. But you know what, it's nice to have
the game on and be able to do things. But
I don't need a great game. I don't need to
see two Titans of the NFL. It's just it's not
my thing. I always want the Lions in that first
(01:52:19):
window on Thanksgiving. Well, and it's got an interesting backstory
because back in four when they all started, the Lions
had an owner who was sort of a poor man's P. T.
Barnum his name was George Richards, and all he wanted
to do was boost attendants. So he tried a Thanksgiving game,
and he was shocked how well it worked. The game
was sold out, they had to turn people away. But
(01:52:39):
Richards did something pretty way ahead of his time that
day as well. He kind of do with NBC to
broadcast the game on ninety four stations across the country,
and the rest is history. Then the Cowboys, of course
started hosting games, I want to say, in the yearly seventies,
maybe late sixties, and then Lamar Hunt complained in the nineties,
and well, why can't we wrote it? Why can't we
(01:53:00):
have another team host the game that led to the
triple Header. Interestingly enough, when they put it out across
the league, not a lot of teams one of those Thanksgiving.
Their players don't particularly care for it. Uh. It disrupts schedules,
but the Lions are always happy to do it. And
I would say it's a great memory for for me Dan.
I can picture parking in the media garage on brush,
(01:53:22):
walking up the street. You know, you've got that fall
it's not too cold yet, you've got that crisp fall air,
and occasionally you get a little dusting, usually not a
lot of snow type of thing, and it's just a
fabulous event. And to your to your point, we're watching football,
we're celebrating the holidays, giving things, and it doesn't necessarily
have to be a great game. But I would say
(01:53:42):
some of the early games I covered, there was some
great games. And the Lions actually made the playoffs seven
times in the nineties. They just never win anywhere, so
there was some terrific games. One game, the first game
I was at, I didn't do the post game that day,
but I was with w t K n AB. The
Lions beat the Vikings forty in a shootout. The lines
were pretty good that year, made the playoffs, lost to Philadelphia.
(01:54:04):
What do I remember most about that game? At the end,
Minnesota lined up for a Hail Mary, and that was
a very prolific offensive team in Minnesota, and Herman Moore
was put in the game on the goal line on
defense and we're all looking at each other going what's
going on here? But that was the legendary Wayne Fomps.
He would do things like that. So every game sort
of took on a on a personality of its own.
(01:54:24):
And again it's part of the larger holiday. In any
standalone event, the NFL is always gonna draw numbers. He's

C West showed out. How do you think it plays
out between these two squads? What Kansas City five and
a half point favorite? Yeah, they're getting five and a half.
Chiefs only three and six against the number this year,
Chargers only thirty in rushing and thirtieth in stopping the run.
But I think you're gonna get max effort out of
the Chargers tonight, Dan, I expect Alan and Williams to play.
(01:59:32):
Don't be surprised if this game comes down with the
way or the Chargers deal it alright. And Tomorrow night,
Niners and Cardinals in Mexico City, big mismatch. Niners top
defense in the league. Kyle Shanahan's giddy. He knows things
are coming together. They're getting players back, interestingly enough to in.
